You are Paxious Dromus, Zabrak Jedi Initiate at the Academy on Tython during the Cold War between the Sith Empire and Old Republic. You’ve just learned that Kay Korrobi, a possible master for you and the sister of your friend Ara, is one of the mysterious Jedi Shadows.

Master Beril looks through the archives by hand while answering your question on Jedi Shadows.

“Tell me, Paxious, have you ever heard the legends of Revan?” Master Beril asks you as she walks from the archive, datapad in hand. She arrives at a desk in the center of the library and sits down as she begins to read through the datapad. “Perhaps you’ve heard of the Revanchist or Darth Revan. At some point he had another name, but it is lost to time.”

What will you say?

“I’ve heard of Revan,” you say, “There’s a holiday for him on Iridonia. I’ve never been to the parades but I heard they’re nice.”

“Ah yes, Revan is considered the savior of Iridonia. That combined with the fact that his crusade as a Sith never touched Iridonian colonies, I can understand the hero worship.”

“The legends were always hard to believe from the farm,” you say, remembering your father’s ‘history’ lessons whenever he had a bit too much to drink.

“You will find there are almost always truths in legends,” Master Beril replies.

“But,” you say, “what does this have to do with Jedi Shadows?”

Master Beril reads through the datapad a bit as she forms her words, “Revan’s initial separation from the Jedi Order was a result of the Mandalorian Crusade against the Outer Rim. He left to fight the Mandalorians and protect the Republic from the threat. The Jedi Council at the time warned caution. This would destroy them when Revan returned as a Sith Lord. We don’t know much of the period after the Jedi Civil War. Revan returned to the Jedi and killed his former Apprentice, whether in malice or in heroics, we know not. The Sith were killed or retreated into the unknown regions. We know the Jedi were thought to be extinct for some years, we know a Sith Lord of some sort launched an attack on Telos and a few Jedi, one known as The Exile, deflected it and supposedly followed Revan beyond the Outer Rim. The Jedi Council that was established after this was a very interesting one. Only two Jedi who sat on the council had gone through training as children and out of those, one had failed his Initiate trials and only been taught after the Jedi were nearly gone.”

Master Beril closes the datapad and places it on the table, “It was this Council that established Jedi Shadows. Master Atton Rand claimed that it was necessary to “level the playing field” against the Sith when they return. Apparently, the new Order was under the assumption that the return of the Sith was eminent. The Sith Empire, however, laid in wait for three hundred years before finally attacking.”

“The idea of a Jedi Shadow was to annihilate the Sith using any means possible. However, since the Sith did not return, in the 300 year period from the Shadow’s creation, Shadows were more often used to accomplish the morally ambiguous goals of the Jedi Council.”

“So, what does this have to do with Revan?” you ask again.

“It was believed by that first council, that Revan and this Exile were fighting the Sith beyond the Outer Rim. Jedi Shadows were meant to be their soldiers, their saboteurs, their spies, and their generals. What actually happened to Revan and the Exile is a mystery.”

What will you do?

For the record, in both KOTOR and KOTOR 2, the light side ending is the canon ending.
>>
>>1008549
I don't think we are following strictly cannon material anon.

And if we are then almost everything that isn't the movies or the tv series is not cannon at all. Meaning kotr as well.

Bumly effectively said he'd acknowledge KOTOR 1 and 2 but throw out SWTOR.

I'm doing a bit of a fusion between old canon and new canon.

Basically, I do what I want but I only use existing properties within SW and only make shit up to replace some of the awfulness of swtor's story.

“So,” you ask, “Revan and the Exile just disappeared? What do you think happened?”

“There are many theories, some involving Revan and the Exile running off together, others involving brave encounters with a previous Sith Emperor. From what I can gather, Revan was far too powerful and detailed a tactician for him to have simply died. Little is written on the Exile, but from what is, she had a similar presence in the Force. Something convinced them to halt their assault, to reconsider and turn back. That is what I believe.”

“Where could I learn more about this?” you ask again.

Master Beril’s lips curl into a wrinkled smile, “Well, Paxious, you are talking to a librarian who collaborates with the Order’s historian Gnost-Dural. If you are interested, I will supply you with reading material, but only if you continue to excel in your other classwork. Is this acceptable?”

You give Master Beril a smile back and bow, “Thank you, Master.”

“Now, off to dinner with you. I shall assemble some reading that will interest you.”

Arriving at dinner, you find Nazz and Jorraan laughing as Ara and Lu attempt to look annoyed only for smiles to betray them. You sit between Nazz and Lu with your meal and begin to chow down saying…

“I missed a good pun, didn’t I?” you ask as the table giggles around you.

“Okay okay so, we were talking about how Ara and Jac are in love,” Nazz begins

“Oh my god, Nazz, drop it! I said he’s pretty! Can't I admire a pretty face? Geez!” Ara responds, although clearly not all that annoyed by Nazz’s jokes.

“Anyway, Lu pointed out that Jac isn’t in any advanced classes and isn’t particularly good at anything and so I said--”

Jorraan bursts out laughing before she can finish explaining, saying, “He’s a Jac of all trades! Bhahahwahafwa!”

Nazz gives Jorraan a dirty look but can’t help but laugh along and the whole table joins in.

“So,” Lu says once the laughter dies down a bit, “Have you guys heard of the new Initiates? Apparently we were so successful that they found a new group in like two weeks and are sending them in tomorrow.”

“Think there’ll be anyone good in the group?” Ara asks curiously.

“Nah, they’re all second-stringers. We were the ones that they vetted through for like a month. These ones are probably just leftovers from that,” Lu responds.

“So, Pax, what were you doing that delayed you from food?” Nazz asks between mouth-fulls of gizka greasers.

“Master Beril wanted to talk some history with me,” you say.

“What, like How the Mid-rim was Won type stuff?” Nazz asks.

“No, it was mostly about Revan and the Mandalorian Wars. I think I’ll read up on it more. It seems really interesting.”

“I heard you sparred against Master Hallar and got him to show you Juyo,” Ara says as she sips on a drink.

“Wait, what?” Lu says with what must be a raised eyebrow behind his bandages.

“Master Hallar seems like a strong warrior,” Jorraan says, eyes glimmering at imagining the fight.

“Yeah,” you say, “Juyo is scary to say the least. It was like fighting a wild animal, a wild animal with at least six arms. Every movement seemed completely random but was still countering any kind of counter-attack I tried.”

“I might learn it though, at least so I know how to defend against it.”

Jac sits down at the table as you say this. “Hey all! What’re we talking about?”

“Well,” Nazz says, “Pax is gonna learn Juyo and become the scariest pincushion in the galaxy.”

Jac laughs a bit, “Good one, haha! But seriously, what are we talking about?”

“Pax really is going to learn Juyo,” Lu informs Jac.

“Are...are you guys crazy?!” Jac says as he slams his fork on the table, “Juyo is banned! It’ll make you fall to the darkside! That’s the whole point of it being banned!”

“Jac,” Ara says in an uncharacteristically soft tone, cheeks as red as her hair, “It’s okay. Master Rogand approached me about it too. They’re choosing a few students to learn Juyo. It happens in every Initiate class. Normally it’s only one or two but this year there’s four students they’re looking at.”

“Oh...okay...that’s better...darkside...I’m not so hungry,” Jac says as he gets up to leave.

Ara makes like she’s going to say something or follow him but stops herself.

“Oh come on! Follow him! This is your chaaance!” Nazz comments to Ara.

“Ara, relationships are forbidden here,” Lu comments, “So you egging Ara on like this is kinda makes you a spice dealer of sorts.”

Nazz giggles at this, tapping you on the shoulder and saying in a raspy voice, “Hey kid, you wanna buy some death sticks?”

“I’m serious!” Lu says, “Ara, be careful with this stuff. It could get you in trouble.”

“Ara, people have been breaking that rule since they made it. You know how many shows on the holonet are Jedi love stories? A lot.”

Ara smiles a bit at this. Clearly, you’ve eased the tension a bit for her.

You continue, “Do what you feel is right, okay? Lu is right, you need to be careful. But Nazz also just wants you to be happy and that’s important too. So do what you think is best, okay?”

Ara seems much more at ease once you’ve said this. Lu and Nazz seem to agree with you.

Ara gets up and starts to look for where Jac went. You finish up your meal with your friends.

You decide to meditate before heading to bed, finding the Initiate rooms empty. Does anyone even use these besides you?

You sit with your legs crossed and eyes closed as you begin to let yourself go...

You take in your surroundings with a feeling of awe as the Force unfolds the world to you. Then you turn this feeling inward and begin to meditate on your first days as an Initiate and how much you have grown in such a short time. It all happened to you so fast that it’s hard for you to not think that this feeling of wisdom and understanding wasn’t always there within you, just waiting to reveal itself.

After your successful meditation, you head back to the dorm and get to bed after giving your horns a quick polish.

You wake up sweating, your breathing heavy, unable to completely remember your dream. Bits and pieces of images come through to you as you try to recall it.

The farm was there. Your father too. Something was wrong. There was water, small lakes. The fields of crops looked more like a marsh. There were other faces you don’t quite recognize. A woman with blue skin and red eyes, some kind of mandalorian armor on a Twi’lek or a Nautolen maybe. You don’t remember your brothers being there, but you remember worrying about them.

Shaking yourself off, you get ready for the day. You’ve got saber class with Master Rogand and Jedi History with Master Beril.

You decide to get to Master Rogand’s ‘classroom’ a bit early. You find a part of the garden where all the grass has been dug up from the constants of students treading upon it. While you’re walking there, Ara joins you, having the same idea.

You both find Master Rogand in some kind of meditative state. He is holding his lightsaber out in the Form IV defensive position but does not move a muscle or even blink when you come near.

“Master Rogand?” Ara asks tentatively.

The lightsaber closes and Rogand’s statue-like appearance fades as he addresses Ara.

“We wanted to ask about how we’ve been selected to learn Juyo,” Ara says.

“Ah, good. You are two of the four. I will remind you that while you are allowed to learn the form, none of you are required and may learn the basics and then choose to study a different form. Most Jedi these days study at least two forms.”

“Who are the other two students?” Ara asks.

“One is Ria, a girl of fierce but reserved demeanor. Her skill with a blade is already quite impressive for one so young,” Rogand says simply, “The other is a boy who I do not know. He is fair and I have been told clumsy. Retsma recommended him. Crok I think his name was?”

“Jac?!” Ara says with slight alarm.

“Yes, that is he,” Rogand responds.

“How are candidates to learn Juyo chosen, Master?” you ask.

“A Master must see in them the qualities of a Juyo user. But they must also be one who may walk near the darkness but never be tempted to succumb to it. That way is madness. The warrior with balance will learn Juyo. They will become the Jedi who does not hesitate to cut off evil’s head when it reveals itself,” Master Rogand responds, “After this, the chosen are taught the basics. If they excel, they can choose to master the form with any teacher willing to take them on.”

“Will we still take the normal classes for melee combat?” Ara inquires, still in shock from hearing Jac had been chosen.

“Yes. Your lessons in Juyo will be additions to this,” Rogand answers.

“Master,” you say while you scratch your horns in thought, “what form works best to defend against Juyo?”

Rogand thinks for a second before answering, “Juyo.”

“Most defenses against Juyo involve preparation. Stand with your back to a sun. Stand in a river flowing toward your opponent. Take cheap shots. Kick their feet from under them. Never let them start an attack. Juyo is too aggressive to defend against and so the best defense it to prevent it from being used at all. Several masters, myself included, have been attempting to make one of the forms more suitable for defense against Juyo, but it is difficult work.”

“Master,” Ara says, redness staining her cheeks, “I don’t know if Jac is ready to learn Juyo.”

Master Rogand smiles, “I do not know the boy but I do know your face.”

Ara turns even redder in response causing Rogand to laugh.

“If you truly love a sapling, do not guard it until it dies a sapling death. Water it and let it become an oak, mighty and unwilting.”

You smile, determined, “When do we start?”

“Your enthusiasm is welcomed, Paxious. We start as soon as this my class ends.”

The basics of Juyo seem to come to you naturally. You remember what you saw from Master Hallar’s short demonstration during your sparring match and you put it to practice. No one seems to be able to match you. You even manage to put a scratch on Rogand who gives you the biggest smile you knew he was capable of.

As amazing as you did though, Ria surpasses you. She uses the form like someone intimately familiar with it rather than something she learned that very afternoon. Master Rogand takes an interest in both you and her as making good Padawans for him going into the future.

Ara, on the other hand, struggles. She manages the basics, but keeps falling back into her old habits. The worst part was that she always knew exactly what she was doing wrong, but struggled to make changes to fix it.

Jac fared well compared to what Ara was afraid of, even managing to get a few scratches on her during a sparring match. Ara tentatively asked him if he could spar with her later to help her get the form down better.

After this, it’s definitely time for lunch. You chow down on as much as you can, not even being able to remember the names of the pile of food you decimated. Nazz and Jorraan look at you with a hint of pride.

Following this, you have some time to kill where you

You decide to go to one of the communicators in the dormitory and give a call home. It should be just passed dinner for your father now with how the sun works at home. Hopefully your home communicator’s number didn’t get changed. Va-179-080852-10274881. You’ve memorized it.

It rings for a while and you almost give up when it finally answers to your dad.

“Mo, get down from there! Dhuul, get off of Mo!” he says to someone to the side of the hologram before turning and spitting out, “Yeah, whadoya want?”

He stops dead in his tracks when he sees you, smiling and quickly hiding it.

“You look skinnier, boy. They feedin’ ya okay there?” he says.

“It’s fine, they only starve us once a week,” you say with a smile.

“That’s very kind of the old geiser masters over there. Tell whoever is in charge of training you to be a cheeky bastard that they’re doing a wonderful job,” your father says.

You laugh, “Thanks, Pa.”

What will you say?

“I can move rocks just by looking at them now, Pa,” you tell him, barely able to contain your excitement

“That sounds like it’d be useful in the fields,” He says smiling at your excitement.

“How’s work going without me?” you ask.

“I won’t sugarcoat it,” he tells you, “It’s damned slow. That protocol droid you built me does about as much work as a gizka living in a noblewoman’s purse.”

You snort, “L8-T10 is supposed to repair harvesting droids and monitor them, not actually harvest the crops or man speeders or any number of things I’m sure you’re having him do. I’ll give him a tune-up next time I’m home though.”

“Your brothers seem to miss you too much. I’m sure I’ll slap that out of them soon. Or they’ll slap it into me,” your father says, “Started Mo on bo staff training. He’s doing well. Reminds me a lot of you when you were his age.”

“Yeah well don’t show him to many holovids of Jedi or he’ll end up like me,” you joke.

“Kid, if someone had told me twenty years ago that my son would become a Jedi, I’d have--”

“Done nothing because you were in jail and mom was one of the guards,” you reply.

“Fair enough,” your father responds.

You remember your dream from last night.

“Everythings okay, though? Nothing out of the ordinary happening? No flooding or weirdos hanging around?”

Your father raises an eyebrow at you, “Force dammit, they got you on this cryptic shit already? Well, there’s talk that Iridonia might abandon this colony. That means no pay for the settlers which means most will leave which means--”

“No one to repair the dams,” you finish.

“Exactly. I’ve talked to your uncle Blunk, though. He’ll take the kids while I clean up and find a new place. Everything will be fine either way,” your father says, “But you don’t have to worry on that. They won’t decide for another year at least and even then, we’ll get a year of severance pay and most won’t leave until nearing the end of that. Now I’ve got work to do. Stay out of trouble and give any Sith you find hell.”

The hologram fades as your dad disconnects.

“Love you too,” you say.

You make your way to Jedi History and find you’re just a minute late. Master Beril doesn’t mind since she hadn’t gotten started yet. You’re learning about the first Schism in the Order and the eventual creation of the Sith from it. You’re also learning that several different Orders of Force Users combined to make the Jedi as everyone knows them today. The main temples that these different faiths united at were located on Tython, Jedha, and Coruscant.

A Twi’lek girl raises her hand, “Didn’t the temple on Jedha rebel? I heard they’re calling themselves the Grey Order now.”

Master Beril chooses her words carefully, “The Masters presiding at the temple on Jedha recently decided they were not supportive of the current Jedi Council and formed their own as a separate Order. This makes them “gray” because they do not follow the Jedi Council but they are still Jedi at the core. Unless reports come of Darkside users welcomed to the temple, or the Darkside being taught on its own merits without care, they are still considered part of the Jedi.”

The rest of the class goes by quickly and Master Beril hands you several books and datapads on Revan, the Mandalorian Wars, the Jedi Civil War, and the first Jedi Council after the Jedi Civil War. You carry these off to your room and place them under your bunk for safe keeping.

After that, you head to dinner and find Master Retsma giving an announcement.

“The new Initiates arrive today and will be tested. I need three volunteers to help.”

Ria approaches you in the cafeteria, “You were exemplary during our sparring sessions today. You have picked up Juyo rather quickly.”

You laugh, “Clearly not as quickly as you, Ria. You gave Master Hallar a run for his money while sparring! It was incredible!”

Ria smiles and looks toward the ground, “My brother has been asking to spar with you since I told him how well you learned Juyo. Perhaps tonight--”

“Sorry,” you tell her, “I’m going to volunteer with Master Retsma. You should too!”

Ria gives you a quiet smile before saying, “Yes, I think that would be enjoyable.”

Lu approaches you after this, “Hey, I’m volunteering for the thing to make the newbies think I’m actually blind then absolutely wreck them. You up for it?”

You arrive at the same field you were tested. It feels so much longer than several days ago, but that’s what it was. Retsma told you that it took way too long to test the students with just himself. You, Lu, and Ria will all spar the students while Retsma picks out the best to spar against him.

Lu somehow got his hands on a cane and uses it as a seeing eye cane. He begins wandering aimlessly as soon as he steps off the speeder that got you here.

You roll your eyes and get ready to meet some new Initiates

How will you spar against them

You decide to go easy on them, giving each possible student at least one opening in every match. They come at you often clumsily, sometimes yelling, a few close their eyes completely. You parry their blows simply, never going beyond Form I.

You go through your group quickly, letting them charge you, giving them an opening, dodging and going on the offensive, then giving them some feedback before assigning them to either beginner classes or sending them to Master Retsma.

The next girl to step up in front of you is wearing a hood. You put up your sword and tell her to charge. She gives you a run for your money with how aggressive she is, but she doesn’t have any form with it and you end up disarming her.

“That was pretty good. Pick your attacks more carefully next time maybe. What’s your name?”

She pulls down her hood to reveal blindfolded eyes.

“Veen Doe Glauzz,” she tells you.

From a distance, you hear Lu’s exclamation.

“Shit.”

Veen turns toward Lu, yelling, "Hi, big bro!"

Lu walks from the small crowd of possible Initiates around him and confronts Veen.

“You need to leave, okay?” he says as he puts a hand on her shoulder.

Veen gives him a smile, “Okay, but you’re coming with me. Dad said you had to.”

Lu sighs and might have rolled his eyes if he could. “What part of ‘I’m running away and never coming back’ did he /not/ understand?”

“The ‘running away’ part,” Veen comments, “Also apparently the ‘never coming back’ part. He literally forgot you ran away the next day and asked where you were. He did that for a week straight before he finally caught on that you actually weren’t coming back.”

“That son of a…” Lu begins before taking a look at some of the younger Initiates and deciding to hold his tongue. “Look, I’m not coming back. I told you to take care of mom and I meant it.”

“I’m not going back unless you come back with me,” Veen says resolutely.

Lu’s hand covers his face, “Are you seriously going to become a Jedi just to spite me?”

“Nooooo,” Veen replies, “I’m becoming a Jedi to spite dad, just like you!”

Lu tries to keep a serious face but ends up smiling at that.

“Veen, that’s not the only reason I’m becoming a Jedi. It’s not even the main reason. It’s more like a bonus that dad hates Jedi,” he tells her.

“I know,” she responds, “But I’m also becoming a Jedi to make sure my idiot brother doesn’t get himself killed.”

The two stare each other down for a moment before they suddenly share a quick hug.

“It’s good to see you, sis,” Lu says under his breath.

“Yeah, whatever, idiot,” Veen says quietly as she squeezes Lu with all her might.

Once you get back to the temple, you run into Lu and Veen talking just outside the closed cafeteria. You greet them and join in the conversation.

“So Pax, Lu told me that you had a vision in like your first week here,” Veen comments.

“Yeah, it was crazy. Apparently no other Initiate has gotten visions like that,” you comment with a hint of pride in your voice at impressing this new face.

“Oh,” Veen says, “Well that’s a bit awkward since I’ve already had like four visions…”

You stare at Veen in disbelief as Lu shrugs, “At least one of those was a complete lie to get dad off your back.” he says accusingly.

“It was not!” Veen defends, “I really did have a vision and that’s why I overslept and didn’t work the street corner on the day of the festival.”

“Yeah, whatever,” Lu says doubtfully.

There’s a moment of silence before Veen comments, “It was because of one of my visions that I found you. I saw a vision of you in the future and you were wearing these long flowing robes and you needed a haircut but you were holding a lightsaber in your hand and telling dad to calm down.”

“So,” you cut in, “What’s with your dad anyway? Is he what made you both run away?”

Lu puts a hand on Veen’s shoulder, saying, “Dad is...he’s not the worst but--”

“He’s a loser con-artist who constantly tries to trick other people out of money, moves around a lot to avoid the law and people he scams and is too lazy and inept to work any real job so he shoved me and Lu out on street corners to pretend to be orphans and play some of his scam games. Also he’d forget his own name if people didn’t scream it at him so often.”

After another silence, Lu pats her on the shoulder, “Well, that answers that.”

After this exchange, you all say goodnight and head back to the dorms.

The next week goes by quickly as you really focus on all your classes.

You’ve really started to excel at Juyo but that doesn’t mean you’ll let yourself fall behind in getting the basics down of every form. It doesn’t take long for you to know all the basic steps and concepts behind the seven main lightsaber forms. Rogand even has a few Knights come in who loan you their lightsabers for a quick spar. The lack of weight in the lightsaber astounds you as you swing it around.

In Force techniques, you haven’t lagged behind either. By the end of the week, you’re able to stand on one hand while lifting just about anything with ease and concentration.

Jedi History has really taken your interest and you stay up late reading off of datapads about the triumphs and terrors of Revan and Malak. The fact that there’s almost nothing on what happened immediately after the Jedi Civil War leading up to the new Jedi Council worries you. Most of the Jedi Council seems to site their teacher as The Exile but you can’t find anything on this mysterious woman.

Retsma continues to teach on Diplomacy for the next week and you find yourself bored in the class many times, but determined to give Retsma your full attention and succeed in the class.

For next week you plan to focus on

You spend the next week working on your strength in the Force and with a lightsaber.

Master Rava is working on using the Force to enhance yourself this week and it doesn’t take long before you’re able to run just a bit faster than you ever thought you could. Your senses feel heightened like never before and you find you’re noticing things about the world that you never did before.

Meanwhile, besides Ria, you have advanced the most in Juyo of any of the other students. You feel exhausted after every training session but it’s worth it to see the results every day.

As a result of your training in Juyo, you find yourself exhausted in Master Retsma’s class, even falling asleep at times. You still manage to do okay, but you aren’t excelling.

Jedi History is another class where you feel like you’re surviving in, but have not made much progress on the books and datapads Master Beril loaned you.

After all your classes are finished, you spend time with all of your friends.

However, it seems that you hang around with Nazz the most out of anyone. The two of you often meditate together or grab lunch on days the others are busy. You talk to each other about home a lot. It seems like Nazz is very worried about her mom having to work on the swoop bikes alone and you can’t blame her. Your little brothers aren’t quite old enough to help your dad out. The two of you think of more puns than you ever knew could exist in the Galaxy.

Nazz gets a package from her mom that contains some of her tools she used to use in the garage. Nazz practically glows, her smile beaming as she says, “I hope these don’t make me tool around more than before.”

You respond quickly, “That was awful. When you’re making a joke about something you just got in the mail, it’s all about the delivery.”

The week ends with you and Nazz fixing up one of the droids in the cafeteria with a voice card Nazz bought in Nar Shaddaa’s red light district. Master Retsma had absolutely no idea why the cafeteria droid insisted calling everyone honey or babe and called itself SX-EB33ST. The two of you could barely control your laughter as you both repeat the words, “Lunch is served,” with as sultry a robot voice you can manage.

Nazz now constantly tries to make you laugh at inappropriate times during classes by whispering to you, “Lunch is served~”

“Stop it,” you whisper amid your giggling.

“What are you going to do?” she asks, “Make me eat those words? For lunch?”

Master Retsma stares curiously at you and Nazz, then continues his lecture on the difference between Naboo and Onderon’s nobility.

The next week you’re asked to choose a lightsaber form to specialize in for the next few weeks of class.

Hmm, gaining proficiency in Soresu might be useful for the times where we absolutely need to hold the line.

>>
>>1015761
Just a question, could we eventually be proficient in Soresu and Form 7? how long would that take?
>>
>>1015824
Usually takes well into being a Knight to master one form.
>>
>>1015826
Yes, I said proficient. as in being able to use both, knowing when to switch between them, in combat. Not completely mastering them
>>
>>1015761
>> Form 5 Shien/Djem so (Drunken fist combined with Force abilities that allow for intense acrobatics to be included in a fight)

Parry mode, HO!

Also apparently best suited to reverse gripped sabers? Works fine when you can choose forward or backwards at will with saberstaff.
>>
>>1015824
Most jedi at this time choose to learn two forms rather than master one although it depends. Yes, you probably could learn Soresu and Juyo but at the moment you are being asked to focus on one.

Okay, looks like we're keeping the practice saberstaff but there's no consensus on form.

Form 7 and single saber. If we lose our staff we can still have a backup and we know we're good at Juyo. It'll be good to keep up with it, plus if an enemy uses it we'd have an edge.

You don't understand it's trading in our staff for something different. Not getting another weapon. Also literally EVERY quest MC picks Juyo for main form. It's not actually all that great since it's got gaping holes in it because the style was never finished properly and has to fit in stopgaps of the other forms. That means it gels together poorly for any fight with a single opponent or group that we don't take out VERY quickly.
>>
>>1015994
The saber staff won for the first part. But I'm glad someone else wants Juyo too.

>>1015997
I don't care about any other quest homie. Here, our character is good at Juyo. It works. Many masters in the past used it. A Juyo user who has a lot of strength in the force, but isn't an idiot (and we aren't an idiot) can help out a lot.
>>
>tfw you miss the vote because you thought Soresu won

>then we get shacked with Juyo

Oh yay, I love the form that was only actually good when Windu used it.

It's also shit for blocking blaster fire, or when someone just breaks your rhythm. Also tiring as hell.

Oh well, I should have payed more attention if I wanted to vote.
>>
>>1016055
You never know. we could get some godly rolls and end up refining it.
>>
>>1016029
Goody. Guess we'll keep with the "JUYO IS THE BEST FORM EVA!" crowd.

>>1016045
>Here, our character is good at Juyo.
He's 'Good' at a variety of styles. It's not like he favors any particular one, but Juyo, and it's nature goes against how he typically acts. It's aggressive, designs to kill and main and used exactly for that extent. It's also SHIT on defense. Like to the point any decent bounty hunter could snipe us mid battle with ease. To the point having a saberstaff is actually going to slow us down, because it was used primarily to defend and counter.

>Many masters in the past used it.
False only a handful, most of them went Sith to it. It's a rear half style that most jedi never even see or have heard of. It's also INCOMPLETE, so it's inherently massively flawed.

>A Juyo user who has a lot of strength in the force, but isn't an idiot (and we aren't an idiot) can help out a lot.
Even geniuses and people who were renowned for their inner calm lost it. We're neither.
>>
>>1016062
Realistically refining it would entail even more efficient offense, not adding defense to it. It is a full-offensive style and trying to add defense would be counter-intuitive to using that style in the first place. And adding more offense doesn't alleviate any of its flaws.

Not saying the other forms are perfect, but they leave less to be desired overall. Thankfully we get two forms instead of just the one.

I'm really only sour because Juyo in its best variant is Vaapad, and it has a near 100% corruption rate. Windu is the only canon character who didn't go full dark-side from using it, right?
>>
>>1016085
indeed
>>
>>1016085
Yes. If we didn't have the option to work on a second form, I wouldn't have voted for it.
>>
>>1016074
The only use being killing and maiming is actually open to enterpretation. It's main requirement is to have controlled passion in battle. It's fighting hard and taking the fight to the enemy, but not being overly movement oriented like ataru, but it requires control. But seriously though. I get that you have opinions. I like Juyo. You don't but it won. No use crying over spilt milk.
>>
>>1016085
Wait, could we do vaapad. I mean. It would be interesting.
>>
>>1016114

>tfw Vaapad doesn't even exist yet because Windu and Bulq haven't invented it yet
>>
>>1016118
oh. right. woops. Well, we could invent it?
>>
>>1016108
>The only use being killing and maiming is actually open to enterpretation.
There is a reason it is all A no D. It's a killing style, all attack if you stop attacking you die.

>but it requires control
Then how come it is so much easier for a raging out of control sith to use?

>But seriously though. I get that you have opinions. I like Juyo. You don't but it won. No use crying over spilt milk.

So basically because your flawed logic won I shouldn't point out it's flaws?

>>1016129
Not really since it's centuries before that and would be called something else entirely.
>>
>>1016118
How about we work to make something of it, not vapaad of course, but a hybrid? Since qm already said that the cannon is a little more fluid here.
>>
>>1016129
It took two dudes who mastered all the lightsaber forms and skirting along the dark side to invent it with inspiration from some weird tentacle-ball things.

I don't think Pax is gonna cut it.
>>
>>1016137
That would be good.
>>
>>1016135
Jeezy man. It's a story. Qm is taking inspiration from kotor and kotor 2. Several of those masters used juyo. Until old age. One physically taught the jedi exile. But honestly your continued aggravation does less than nothing. There is honestly no more reason for this discussion to continue.
>>
>>1016139
Maybe Master Bruce could though

Although to be fair, Juyo could come in handy for Pax if he's going to take the Shadow route.

What for the second style though? Soresu or Shien?
>>
Just so everyone knows, this is by no means final. You'll have the chance to focus on two more forms before making your pick of what you want to study mainly and even then, you can change it down the line.
>>
>>1016184
Soresu, we will desperately need defense since Juyo has none at all.

>>1016180
Your argument that a small fraction of MASTERS, not Knights, not padawans, MASTERS who are the rarest, wisest, and most powerful Jedi, that a portion of them learned it, that it's a common style? That's stupidity. It's like saying every trained sniper can routinely make shots from miles out. Or that every pilot is a Ace dogfighter. I will continue to point out the flaws in what you are saying, because you keep using them to justify bad ideas. Live with it.
>>
>>1016184
I'd go Shien. Because having full offense and full defense is actually a terrible idea. Because inevitably we'll find someone who has either mastered full offense or full defense solely and then both are rendered useless by them simply outskilling us, or someone who is just plain more powerful and can forcefully change how the battle will go.

You should have at least some adaptability.

I'd say Form I but it's actually pretty shit, a stepping stone more than anything. The basics can only get you so far.
>>
>>1016210
Never said it was common. Now you're just reaching. Just said that there's a precedent, since we've been offered to be taught it in the first place. Besides, our fate isn't set in stone anyways. We're still learning.

You spend the next week working on your Juyo with your saberstaff, getting passed the basic steps of the form, you begin to understand the attitude that needs to go behind using it effectively and the reason so few students choose to use Juyo.

The more you fight with the steps, the more you enjoy it. The sequence for the first strike has an almost addictive quality as your muscles dance while your practice saber slams against another student’s knocking them to the ground.

It isn’t a lust for battle or a lust to hurt someone else. It feels more like the satisfaction you got from fixing a circuit on a harvest droid that was being particularly difficult. The feeling was angry to some degree but it was tempered and controlled. You are allowing the emotion to elevate your movement rather than letting yourself be defined and controlled by it.

During one of the sparring matches for class, you notice a Jedi standing off to the side watching you. She has jet black hair and a small form. In one hand she holds a bottle and in the other, her lightsaber.

Once everyone is done sparring, she approaches Master Rogand who gives an announcement.

“Initiates, this is Knight Sepha Phi. She specializes in law-enforcement aid and is here looking for a Padawan. She has asked that any interested step forward to spar with her.

Also never said widely used. Said several. Which is more than two, but not many. My original argument also went for at least using our proficiency to guard against Juyo. Again, qm also said that nothing is set in stone, so we may not even choose it.
>>
Juyo is currently rare because either a Jedi must skirt dangerously close to the darkside to learn it or they must not learn it fully and suffer with only a half finished form.

Juyo is incredibly popular among the Sith currently which is a problem since there aren't any defensive forms that consistently counter it. The result is that the Jedi currently want to train a lot of Jedi in Juyo without them falling to the Darkside.

You were chosen because of your natural affinity with the lightside that seems almost effortless from what the masters have seen, so they think it very unlikely that you'd fall.
>>

The darkside doesn't give a fuck about good or bad people. And you know what they say. "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions."

We still need to be careful. The dark side is a creeping and hidden corruption as much as it is a huge neon sign of probably murdering babies.

>>

Meh. Zabrak are described as proud, self determined and sometimes arrogant. Not that bad. Humans are inherently warlike. Does that mean they are worse to learn Juyo. Let's just go with what Pax is. Nice.
>>
>>1016348
Zabrak typically have a very easy affinity with the dark side.
>>
>>1016338
I do get it. I just mean, by the masters perspective, we have a leg up. It's all about your point of view, even Obi Wan said that when he lied to Luke to his face. We just gotta keep the idea that our enjoyment of battle is more solving problems, like a farm boy fixing mechanical issues, than being an edgelord.

You nudge Jorraan who stumbles forward and raises his lightsaber. Jorraan has been focussing on learning Ataru and you have to admit, despite the fact that you’ve beaten him every time you’ve sparred, it’s damn scary to watch the truck of a boy running at you like a train.

Jorraan takes out his saberstaff but wields it with one hand rather than two. He charges forward with the staff tucked in like a spear before he stabs forward at Sepha. Sepha sidesteps and grabs Jorraan’s shoulder, promptly throwing him over her head without a second thought. Then she takes a swig from a flask she takes out of her robes.

“You wanna try that again?” she asks Jorraan without looking at him.

Jorraan gets up and charges again. This time the woman spits whatever liquid she drank in his eyes and trips him as he’s blinded.

“No criminal will ever fight fair. There is no honor in losing graciously when you’ve lost to a rapist or a spice dealer who is now going to harm innocents because of your mistake. Be unexpected and be ready for everything,” she says as she takes out the flask and chugs it down, clearly swallowing this time.

Jorraan rolls over and springs up swinging at her again. This time, she opens her lightsaber and deflects his blow. Jorraan falls back into a defensive stance that you recognize as Soresu. He actually doesn’t give an inch despite the Knight’s onslaught. After a minute of the exchange, Sepha pauses, out of breath while Jorraan stands firm.

“Well, there’s something. Good job. Anyone else?” she asks.

Klaitan also volunteers but is promptly put to the ground over and over again. At first, Sepha seems uninterested. But as Klaitan refuses to stay down, she takes greater interest.

“Just say when you’ve had enough and the match is over,” she says as she disarms him again and Force Pushes him to the ground. Klaitan refuses, though. He gets up and continues. Finally, she disarms him for what has to be the tenth time and rather than going to get his saber, Klaitan charges forward with his shoulder and knocks Sepha to the ground, to everyone’s gasping surprise.

“Interesting,” she says as she dusts herself off. “I’ll be around a few other classes to observe.”

These are beginner powers remember. Also you already know Force Push and Pull and can levitate shit.

You spend the week learning how to see through the Force as well as finding a way to use the Force to amplify your speed. While you try to do this, you often take breaks to read the books and datapads on Revan that Master Beril gave to you.

You read about the mysterious Sith Triumvirate, a group of 3 Sith Lords that took control of the remnants of Revan’s Sith Empire after he disappeared.

The Memiors of Master Mical talk about the Sith Lords and how “An exile is what killed the remainder of the old order. It seems only fit that an exile should be the one to hand us the teachings to rebuild it.”

It seems like one of the Sith Triumvirate was a former Jedi, whether it was Sion, Nihilus, or Traya you don’t know.

While you’re reading a particularly interesting passage of “The History of Bastila Shan,” Veen taps you on your head.

“Lu told me you’re trying to figure out how to see with the Force,” she says to you.

“Lu would be right,” you say as you sit up from the grass you were lying in while you read in the gardens.

“Well, if you haven’t noticed,” Veen tells you, “I happen to be pretty good at it.”

“Why doesn’t Lu teach me then?” you ask.

She laughs, “Because I’m better at it.”

You stand up and face Veen who tells you, “Put your hand on my face.”

“What?”

“Just do it, okay?” she says a little frustrated with just a little bit of red in her cheeks.

You extend your hand and place it on the side of her face.

“Okay, now what? Do I need to get you flowers?” you joke with a raised eyebrow.

“Force, you’re almost as dumb as my brother,” she mutters, “Close your eyes, okay?”

You do as you’re told despite feeling slightly uncomfortable with it.

“Okay. Now picture my face. Use the feeling of your hand on it to get a good glimpse of it in your mind. Got it?”

You shrug, “Yeah, I think so.”

“Now take your hand away, but as slowly as you can. Try to reach out with the Force and keep the feeling of your hand on my face. Keep picturing it.”

You follow her advice and as your hand goes back down to your side, you reach out, finding that with the Force, you can still see her face in some ways. Once you realize this, you look around with the Force and open your eyes to see the visions combined. The whole world looks agonizingly detailed. Walls seem to be see-through at times. The tiniest movement of a leaf doesn’t avoid your sight.

You excitedly hug Veen who hugs you back before pushing you off and saying, “Okay, so that wasn’t the worst but you’re still only using it to fill in the gaps with your real sight. Once you master it, you won’t even need eyes anymore. You can just use the Force.”

“You know,” you say, “One of the first council after the Jedi Purge was a Miraluka. Master Visas.”

Veen seems surprised, “Yeah, there’s a statue to her on Katarr. I remember seeing it as a little girl.”

Veen suddenly looks sad and excuses herself.

After a long day’s work, you head to bed, ready for next week.

That night, you dream about a temple like on Tython, but in a massive desert. The heat feels insurmountable as you stand on the outside, viewing the impressive statues at its entrance. You hear voices arguing in the distance as if carried for miles by the wind, and you feel a cool breeze on your back as a whisper enters your mind.

“I am one with the Force. The Force is with me,” it says before fading away.

A lightsaber activates behind you. You spin around defensively to see a masked figure in white approaching the temple, lightsaber lit. With heavy, laborious breath, they approach, walking passed you and falling on their knees at the massive sandstone entrance.

You wake up to a new week with Veen’s words echoing in your head. You spend the morning practicing a bit more and think you’ve gotten the hang of relying more on the Force for your sight rather than using the Force to just enhance your sight.

For the rest of the week, you throw yourself back into your readings about Revan. In the Mical’s Memoirs, you read a speech from Master Atton that Mical wrote down:

“You all know me. Well, most of you anyway. You know I’m not exactly wise. This whole cryptic Jedi schtick got old before I ever thought I would become a Jedi. But there’s one thing that you can all trust me to do. All of you know that I’m good at getting lost. Yeah, fine. Laugh. But when I say I’m good at getting lost, let me tell you that the Sith got good at it too. They got lost out there on the edge of the galaxy and it’s only a matter of time before they pick their shit up and come knocking at the Republic’s door. I was there at Malachor the first time and the second. I know what makes a Sith and what destroys one. Many of us were there. But after Malachor, I got lost again. The Exile and I went and searched for Revan. We found him. He’s out there, fighting. But he’s not going to be there forever. The guy who moves mountains with his mind is not going to protect us from the Sith forever. We need to prepare. We need soldiers. I know what makes a good Sith and I know what makes a good Jedi hunter. I’ve dabbled in both and you all know it. So let me make it right. Let me train the soldiers that will make the Sith think twice before they bring war to our front door. Maybe they’ll be Jedi. Maybe they’ll just be shadows of what Jedi should be. But whether we know it or not, we’re still at war. And shadows might be just the edge we need to be the big damn heroes that the Exile knew we could be. That Revan hopes we’ll be. Give me students and I’ll give you soldiers, Jedi, shadows.”

You put the datapad down and think about what you read. The origin of Jedi shadows sits in the palm of your hand.

After you finish your reading, you work on perfecting your current arsenal of Force Powers and find that your Force Sight is improving exponentially. Throughout the week, you work on perfecting it, along with your telekinetic abilities and your Force Speed.

You learn that Ara is very interested in Master Sepha Phi who helps law enforcement on Coruscant deal with the infinite waves of organized crime in the city planet. Jorraan, meanwhile, just hopes he gets to be on the front lines once he’s a Padawan. Lu has absolutely no idea what he wants to do and is clearly panicking ever so slightly over it. Nazz jokingly says she’d love to be Hallar’s Padawan, much to the laughter of the others.

“What?” she asks, “I would make a great Padawan and you all know it!”

“You would drive Hallar insane,” Lu comments, “Like, more insane than the vibe I already get from him.”

Nazz scoffs, “I’d probably make him mad and he’d end up...holler-ing...at me all the time!”

Groans and giggles are heard from around the table.

Waking up to a new week the next morning, you decide to

>Focus on lightsaber combat
>Focus on researching more about Revan
>Focus on learning a new Force power
>Focus on perfecting your current Force abilities
>Write-in

Choose two

You also spend a significant amount of time with

>Fuck people, throw yourself into your studies (choose 3 things from above at the cost of ignoring your friends for a week)

You work on perfecting your current powers, getting your Force Sight to a level where seeing through walls is no longer something you have to concentrate very hard on to do. Your Force Speed, in the meantime, has gotten much faster, although you need to train with it a little more before you would be able to accurately control this newfound quickness.

While you meditate in the garden, you feel a presence approach and sit beside you, joining you in meditation. You open an eye to see one of the temple healers meditating beside you. Rather than ask her what she’s doing here, you remain quiet and continue your meditation.

You finish and get ready to go to class only for her to stop you.

“Initiate Paxious,” she says firmly.

You spin around on your heels, scratching your freshly manicured horns as you say, “Yes, Master?”

“I’m only a knight, just call me Kalei,” she tells you.

“Well what can I do for you, Kalei?” you ask her with a good-natured smile.

“Well,” she says, seemingly enthused by your smile, “I...I know a lot of powerful masters are looking at you as a possibly Padawan. That’s very great and while I know you might be overwhelmed with offers at this point--”

“I think most masters wait until after I complete my trials before asking,” you interrupt.

“Right, right,” she continues, clearly unsure of herself. “Your raw potential in the Force is unmatched in your class. I can sense it. And that’s why I think I’d make a good teacher for you. I am Knight Kalei Brusah, Jedi Healer and researcher in the finer arts of the Force. I don’t want you to say yes or know right now. I just want you to keep me in mind as a possibility. While I’m not as experienced or powerful or influential as the other Masters, I’m someone who can devote all their time to making sure you get the training you need.”

“I’ll keep you in mind, Kalei,” you tell her.

Throughout the rest of the week, you practice your prowess with a lightsaber. Jorraan helps you with this a lot as the two of you bond more as friends.

“But if nothing defends well against Juyo, why doesn’t everyone use it?” Jorraan asks you during one particularly grueling sparring session.

“Well, it’s got no defense and isn’t great against blaster fire. And the sequences for facing multiple opponents at once are really complicated which makes other forms preferable in that situation,” you explain, answering many of the same questions you’d asked Master Hallar and Master Rogand during your sparring sessions. “Sith love it, though. That’s the other thing. You’ve got to take a certain amount of glee in the combat to really pull it off. That’s scary for a Jedi who’s supposed to be unattached to their surroundings. I think most don’t know how to handle it.”

“I always feel happy in battle,” Jorraan brags with a thumb pointed at his chest, “Battle is the ultimate test of strength, character, and uhhh….what was the third thing?”

“Brains?” you joke.

To your surprise, you guessed right.

“Yeah!” Jorraan says, “That’s what my mom and dad always said at least.”

You realize you haven’t heard very much about Jorraan’s home.

“Jorraan, what’s it like where you come from, anyway?” you ask.

Jorraan smiles dreamily as he puts down his practice saber and sits in the grass to rest for a moment.

“Bakura is the system. It’s not big. My dad was taken in by Mandalorians when he was young and my mom was adopted and then exiled by a Kaleesh warlord. They told me and my brothers that we’re the start of a new warrior clan. They made us strong.”

“How many brothers do you have?” you ask him.

Jorraan answers, “Five,” as if you’ll be blown away by the number.

“Only five? I have seven,” you say with your arms folded over your head.

Jorraan gives you a surprised look before continuing, “I’m the runt but that’s never bothered me. They kick me around because they know it’ll make me strong when I need it. And they’re always there. Our family motto is etsch fortresch nobschis. Together, we are strong.”

“Sounds a lot like what I hear of the Sith, honestly,” you say with frankness.

“Well, I do have family who are Sith. My father’s sister is some kind of Darth from what I heard.”

“Oh,” you respond, “Sorry.”

Jorraan turns to you, his face beaming, “No, this means I’ll get to face her in battle someday. I’ll get to prove to my whole family that I’m strong. That I can protect others. When my dad sent me to the Jedi he told me he wanted me to be a Jedi first and a Bakura second. I think I know why he said it now. If I didn’t give up anything of how I was back home, I wouldn’t learn to be a great Jedi. I’d be a lousy Jedi and a lousy warrior. My dad wants me to be both. I’m going to make him proud.”

“Well,” you say, standing up and drawing your practice saber, “Let’s make him proud.”

You continue to spar until you head to bed, ending the week on an exhausting, but satisfying note.

“Congratulations,” Master Retsma says to you, Ara, Jorraan, Nazz, and Lu, “You have all accomplished in months what many take years to master.”

You feel pride from Retsma’s praise and think back on the passed few months. Your smile breaks through and you look at your friends to find them all beaming in the same way.

“I’m happy to call many of you my students, and even my friends. Whatever path the Force wills you toward after this day, always remember that you are welcome to come to me for any advice you seek,” Retsma says.

“Now,” Retsma says, igniting his lightsaber to illuminate the empty cave that you and your friends are in, “You five have been the first selected of your class to take the trials. As you had three tests to prove your worth as initiates, so you have three more tests to graduate from that rank and be taken on by a master. You know the tests. They are the marks of a Jedi. You must enter the cave and retrieve your kyber crystal. You must then climb your way through the ancient jungles of Tython to the Forge where tools will be given to craft the saber. From there, you shall return to the temple, using the Force to guide you. When you return with your lightsabers, you shall be greeted by the Masters interested in taking you on. If you have more than one master seeking you out, you may have a week to decide. You are all exemplary students. My pride in your progress is unmatched. Now go, complete your destiny. May the Force be with you.”

You all bow to Master Retsma, “May the Force be with you, Master.”

There, in front of you, are the caves of Tython and your first trial.

You enter the dark cave and the five of you wander through the pitch blackness. Your Force Sight keeps you from stumbling but you soon realize you don’t need it. Something about this cave is giving off a feeling, a signal almost. It’s as if you are being called in by something.

That’s when you get your first glimpse at the kyber crystals. Tython isn’t particularly abundant in them. You were told the caves of Ilum and Jedha and even Dantooine were much more impressive. But staring at the walls covered in the glow, covered in the presence of the Force, you can’t help but stare, mouth gawked at the beautiful sight.

You come to a fork in the cave that separates into two paths.

“This is a test. We should all complete it on our own strength,” Ara comments.

“So we should split up,” Jorraan echoes

“Well, there’s only two paths here. It’s not like we can all take our own,” Lu comments.

“No,” you say, thinking out loud, “We shouldn’t each go our own way anyway.”

Nazz cocks her head at you before her eyes widen as she understands your thinking, “We can watch each other’s backs. It’s like a big scavenger hunt and we all need to do is spread out and find everything without getting lost. Smaller groups is a good middle ground between splitting up and risking losing someone and going together and risk taking too long or not learning anything from the trial. Good thinking, Pax!”

You close your eyes and let your normal senses fade out, giving way to the Force. You open your eyes and feel to your left, an energy, a voice calling you forward.

“I’m going this way,” you point to the path on the left.

Lu seems to have been doing the same thing as he points to the cave on the right, “I need to go this way.”

“Me too,” Ara agrees with Lu.

“I’m not sure...I can’t...I can’t see where to go…” Nazz comments, befuddled.

“I can’t either,” Jorraan says.

Thinking quick, you say, “Nazz, stick with me. Jorraan, go with Ara and Lu.”

Nazz seems happy with this arrangement and Ara raises an eyebrow at her.

“Well, see you guys on the other side,” you comment before going off into the tunnel.

You and Nazz wander down the winding tunnel. You’re reminded of the first day you met when you were looking for the test on Force potential. You and her wandered through the hallways up and down looking for an exit to the temple that lead to the garden. You must have passed it six times without even realizing you were retreading ground.

“So,” Nazz comments, “What do you think’s in store for us here? Visions? Force Ghosts? Oh, oh what if we fight a masked Sith and then we cut off their head and it reveals it was actually US FALLEN TO THE DARKSIDE! That would be cool.”

“Well, the way I see it, these caves are meant to test specifically you. Some kind of obstacle will fit something you need to overcome,” you say as the two of you come upon another split in the cave, this time with three paths.

“I need to go in the center,” you say with certainty.

“I...I still don’t know…” Nazz tells you with a worried look.

The two of you begin to walk down the center path when you hear voices up ahead. You exit and find you have reunited with Lu, Jorraan, and Ara.

“What? I thought that path led the opposite way! We’re totally lost!” Lu snides.

Ara rolls her eyes, “I still know where to go. We just looped around weirdly I think.”

You quickly organize with your friends and find that you need to continue to your left while Jorraan, Ara, and Lu need to take the path you were just on.

You and Nazz continue to walk forward. Until you hit yet another separation, this time with only two branching paths again. Carved on a stone between the paths is some words you can’t quite make out.

Nazz looks nervous.

“Hey, what’s wrong, Nazz?” you ask her. “Don’t worry, there’s a crystal here for you. I know it.”

Nazz doesn’t seem eased, “I know...it’s just that...well…”

As Nazz is beginning to talk, the stone carving catches your eye. “Wait,” you say, “This is Bendu script!”

“Oh like we learned about with Master Beril?” Nazz says, seemingly relieved at the change in subject.

“Yeah. They were one of the early groups that helped start the Jedi Order on Tython. Their carvings are everywhere in the temple,” you comment.

“Well, can you read what it says?”

You look at the carving and try to pick out some symbols you recognize.

“That one right there means center or middle, sometimes balance. It’s conjugated with a preposition which would make it “in the middle” I think… the other word has a “we” conjugation but it’s formal so it could mean “we” in the universal sense…”

Nazz puts her head on your shoulder. “Wake me up when you’re done, okay?” she says with a smile and closed eyes. You lean your head on top of hers for a moment before refocussing on trying to remember the word.

“I’ve seen that symbol before. It was on a wall with pictures of swords… it means…”

Then the words seem to echo through your brain.

“Schuen bu tosoi. It means, In the center, we struggle.”

“Pax,” Nazz says, “I know where my crystal is.”

That’s when you notice the hole just below the writing. You poke at it with your thumb and hear a rumble.

The rock that the writing was on lowers into the floor, revealing a third path. A set of stairs leads to a lower level of the cave. They sit directly in the center of the two other paths.

“It’s down there,” Nazz says.

As I asked before, and I'm sorry if it's been answered already, but what is the official ruling on "Pulling a Bindo"?

I assume that romance is an option, or else why the waifus, but how strict is the Jedi order on these things in your canon?
>>

In my cannon, Jedi Order is historically pretty strict on it but is trying to be less strict because they need numbers to get ready for the imminent war against the Sith and they'd rather not have members leaving left and right.

Romance will be a thing in this quest and I'd allow you to "Pull of Bindo" but don't think you can just go right out of the gate and be anywhere as good at it as the true master (pic related)
>>
>>1028207
Good to know. So, sour faces, but no forcing promising Iridonians to go Grey Jedi just because they aren't celibate. I always hated that entire rejection of emotion thing.

On the plus side, if we become a Shadow, BOOM, we're in the clear regardless.
>>
>>1028219
You'll have to keep it on the down low though. If you are too open about it and seem like you're being openly defiant of the Jedi Code and the will of the Council, people might get pissed.
>>
>>1028262
Well yeah, don't want to be THAT GUY.
