>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

You awaken feeling somewhat disoriented, the strange visit from an old Avatar fresh in your mind and consuming most of your thoughts. When you see the face of Sansha, she looks similar to how you imagine you look right about now.

Her eyes meet yours, and understanding passes between the two of you. Shui visited both of you last evening, and asked each of you to speak to Lantana.

You wonder if Mauya had a similar experience.

Lantana is still asleep, her expression not exactly peaceful, making you wonder what sort of dreams she's having.

"Sansha," you mouth to your friend, doing your best not to wake anybody else up. "Can we go talk somewhere?"

She nods, getting out of her bedroll and cleaning it up before walking with you out of the building, finding that the small village is beginning to rise. While few of the actual villagers are out and about, many members of the Laobukepo are already standing guard in various spaces, some simply keeping watch in front of buildings, while others man the walls and keep an eye out for any potential attack.

Wanting to make your conversation as private as possible, you and Sansha step outside the walls of the village, moving toward the forest before speaking to one another.

"He came to you, too, didn't he?" Sansha finally asks when you're both confident that nobody's listening. "Avatar Shui?"

"Yeah," you answer. "Did he say the same things to you that he said to me?"

"Did he tell you that we should go after Kalana as quickly as we can?" Sansha asks. "And that whatever she's planning, she might be unstoppable if we let her do it?"

"Yeah," you answer.

"I figured she was planning something big," Sansha admits. "She has the strongest army in the world working for her, so if she abandoned it for a while instead of leading it and conquering the world, she must be trying to do something pretty amazing."

"I think we should go after Kalana," you tell your friend.

Sansha seems surprised to hear this from you, and responds with a bit of uncertainty. "I'd like to take her down as soon as possible, but remember why we didn't chase after her? We're not ready, Lantana's not ready."

"We just need to wait long enough for Lantana to learn the basics of Firebending," you tell her. "Then we can go after Kalana, and Lantana can practice her bending on the way."

Sansha still seems unsure if what you're suggesting is the best course of action. "Maybe, and if we go after Kalana now, she'll be away from most of her army. But I doubt Lantana will go for it."

"Then the two of us will just have to convince her," you tell Sansha. "Though, we might need Pengsong's help."

Your friend laughs. "Well, if we get him on our side, there's no way that Lantana can say no. But still, I'm not sure that will happen."

"Well, if we can't convince her, then you and I will go after Kalana," you suggest.

Sansha's eyes go wide. "Just the two of us? Sei, even with our entire group working together, we probably can't beat Kalana. If it's just the two of us, we don't have a chance."

"I know the odds aren't great," you admit. "But-"

You're interrupted by the sound of a twig snapping, soon followed by heavy breathing as someone comes running down the path toward the village. Sansha's hands go to her blades, and you prepare yourself to start Earthbending, but both of you relax as you see that it's a member of the Laobukepo. However, unease returns as you see the look on his face.

"Out of the way!" he shouts, waving his hands frantically.

"Is there an attack coming?" you ask as the man continues running toward you.

"That's right, so I need to speak with Yong!" he shouts, drawing closer. "NOW MOVE!"

Stepping out of the way, you and Sansha watch as the young man rushes toward the village, quickly passing the guards and making his way toward the main building.

"Absolutely," you tell her, rushing back into the village, with Sansha right behind you.

The various members of the Laobukepo seem to be on high alert, a few looking nervous, but most seeming excited, as if they crave the coming battle. Maybe they do.

The young man has already reached the main building, and when you arrive with Sansha, Yong is awake and listening as he gives him details about the incoming attack.

Yong's eyes move toward you. "You two! Come here!"

Lantana sits up in her bedroll, looking around in confusion. She quickly snaps into battle mode as she figures out the situation, leaping up and rushing over to Yong as well.

"Huo's informed me that the Lieutenant is finally making his counterattack," he announces. "It's time for us to set up our defensive strategy."

"We're ready!" Lantana declares eagerly.

"Good, then listen closely," Yong instructs. "Lantana, Sei, I want the two of you to set up trenches around the village with Earthbending. Our archers will man the walls and pick apart their close-range fighters. Once the trenches are made, Lantana, I want you with me leading the outer defenses. Sei, I want you and Sansha in the trees to help in the flanking attacks on the enemy. Take out their archers, and especially their catapults. Huo, you're with them."

The young man nods. "Got it."

"Alright, everyone get where they need to be," Yong instructs. "Let's show these scum who they're dealing with!"

Right. Got it. Throw big rocks at enemy siege. Can do.

>E. Something else
Yo, do you have any archers you can spare to help us with the flanking? Some archers to harass and pin down regular grunts will help Sei to focus on bouldering down the enemy siege.

"What about Mauya?" you ask.

"We'll keep her here in case any of the villagers get injured, and to take care of any wounded who come back inside," Yong explains. "Now go!"

"Alright!" you say, turning and rushing out toward the soon to be battlefield.

Once you're outside of the village, you set to work creating pits around it with Lantana's help, making it difficult for the enemy to actually get inside of the village. Once that's done, you head for the trees, joined by Sansha, Huo, and a few men armed with bows and various melee weapons.

"Are you ready?" Sansha asks, glancing back toward you as you wait for the enemy to show themselves.

"We've handled a lot worse than this," you tell Sansha. "We can do this."

She gives you a confident smile. "I know. It'll be nice to get a little payback for the Northern Air Temple, anyway."

"Don't hold anything back," you hear Huo instruct from nearby. "These monsters have caused trouble for a lot more people than just the Air Nomads."

It's not long before you get a look at your approaching enemies. At the front of their group is a man riding an ostrich horse, followed by rows of soldiers who stand in front of rows of archers, and, at the back, catapults.

"Let's do this," you hear one of the men say.

"Wait until they've attacked the main force," Huo instructs.

You have enough time to choose a target. Since you're hidden, you can make your first strike with virtual impunity.

The question is, where do you attack first?

The catapults are large, slow targets, which won't be able to do much to those of you attacking from the sides. The archers, on the other hand, pose a sizable threat both to you, and the main defense force.

As the enemy engages the main force, you strike, dropping several of the archers into a pit before ripping up large chunks of rock and hurling them at the others, flattening several as they turn and prepare to return-fire. The archers on your side fire at the enemy, taking out several more while they're focused on you.

Sansha, Huo, and several others emerge from the trees, attacking the enemy. Sansha slices down two of the enemy soldiers, while Huo unleashes a jet of flame that takes down two more.

Between this attack, the main force, the enemies crumble almost immediately, falling into disarray and being cut down rapidly. Huo sets fire to one of the catapults, and you hear shouts from the enemy to abandon the remaining catapult as the soldiers desperately attempt to flee.

As the soldiers flee, you make use of your Earthbending one last time, opening a pit that swallows most of them, leaving less than a dozen to keep running, most of whom are picked off by archers shortly thereafter. As far as you can tell, only three of the enemy soldiers escape the battle.

Cheering erupts from the other warriors, and you see Sansha grinning from ear to ear. You guess your friend must feel right at home fighting with a bunch of trained warriors, and a victory always feels nice.

"Your Firebending sure came in handy," you tell him.

He chuckles. "It usually does. There aren't too many Firebenders on the main continent, so a lot of people aren't prepared to fight them. It gives me a nice edge."

"Actually, I wanted to ask you about that," you tell him. "I was wondering if you could teach a friend of mine to Firebend."

"A friend of yours?" he asks, seemingly confused. "Are they already a Firebender? Because it's something you're born able to do, it can't just be taught. But, if they already know how to Firebend, maybe I can help them get better at it."

From what I remember, it's doing nothing until there's a perfect opportunity to do something that wins the game. Otherwise, it's just doing nothing.

Sei's gonna die like a bitch, isn't he?

She's clearly trying to avoid any possible encounter with Kalana until she's ready. It's not a bad move, really, but it's definitely negative jing.

"It isn't a matter of being ready," you tell her. "Sometimes people aren't ready for what needs to be done. If we'd had a choice, we would have waited to face the hunter until we had more training. But, we didn't, and we still won. We need to do this before she gets whatever she's looking for."

"The Hunter was different, Sei," she tells you. "He was a mercenary that was so overconfident that he continuously made stupid mistakes. Kalana's not going to make things that easy for us. I need to master all four elements before I can face her. In the meantime, I'll deal with the people working for her, so that when the time comes they won't be able to get in the way. But if I go now, and die, then she'll have years to cause chaos all over the world. I understand why you and Shui want to do this, but I believe in my hear that it's the wrong move. Please, don't leave."

"I'm sorry," you tell her. "But I have to."

Lantana looks down to hide her face, but you can see the tears forming in her eyes.

"Come with me," you plead softly.

"I'm sorry," she tells you miserably. "But I can't."

There isn't any point in arguing about this anymore, so all you can really do is say goodbye. So, you step forward, wrapping your arms around Lantana and giving her a tight hug.

"I'll miss you," you tell her.

You hear her cry, but she pulls herself together quickly. "I'll miss you too, Sei."

The two of you stay like that for a little while, before breaking apart and taking a step back. Lantana looks heartbroken, but she's doing her best to keep it together.

"Good luck, Sei," she tells you. "Please, don't die."

Lantana nods. "Alright. Just please try not to let him get hurt."

Nodding in return, you look toward Sansha. "Will you come with me?"

Looking like she'd rather do anything than make this decision, she shifts her eyes between yourself and Lantana, tears beginning to form before she wipes them away.

"A-alright," she tells you. "Lantana, I'm sorry, but-"

"It's okay," the Avatar tells her gently. "I understand."

Sansha stares at her for a few seconds before doing something unexpected. She steps over and gives Lantana a hug. Lantana is taken aback, but returns the gesture, offering her the best reassuring smile when they break apart.

"Good luck," Lantana tells the warrior.

best case scenario, Sei will live, but Latana and friends will all die, causing Sei to retreat to a volcano island in grief and train non-stop until word comes along of the next avatar. Sansha dies halfway and we receive word that Mauya was killed by a mistake made by Lantana. We break and after killing Kalana we take over the army and start making our plans to take over everything.

As Lantana moves to find Huo, you tell Sansha that you want to speak with Mauya before your departure. Your friend, agreeing that the two of you should say goodbye to the young Waterbender, follows you into the village, finding Mauya waiting with her hands on her hips.

"Nice work out there," she congratulates. "Hardly any injuries, only one death. And, from what I hear, you sent the enemy running with just a few people left."

"Sei, are you out of your mind?!" she shouts. "We barely survived against her when it was all four of us plus Doyu, now you think you can handle her with just you and Sansha?"

She looks toward the warrior. "And you! I expect this kind of stupidity from Sei, but not from you! You're supposed to be smarter than this!"

Sansha lowers her head. "I know we probably won't succeed, but I feel like we have to try. If nothing else, maybe we can buy Lantana some time."

If Sei lives, he'll be Bumi one day, considering earthbending with just your face is a legendary feat.
>>
>>984596
Yeah, she's.....reasonable
>>
>>984600
Nah. Just because Bumi was the only one crazy enough to try it doesn't mean it's hard. You have to keep in mind that bending isn't actually a martial art, it's primarily a spiritual act. But since people don't realize that, they just have to do some kind of physical mnemonic to get it going. The thing is, it doesn't actually matter what that mnemonic is, as long as it makes sense to you.

That's why the armless water bender in Korra could bend with her phantom limbs.
>>
>>984611
Earthbending in that manner is actually difficult though, because you can barely move and you aren't in contact with any earth.
>>
>B. Earthbend with your face and shatter the ice (75)
>>
>>984558
>>984546
>>984513
Moving your head, you raise large rocks, using them to shatter the ice that binds you, giving you the freedom to move again.

Eyes widening, Mauya quickly returns to glaring and sends a torrent of water your way, but you manage to avoid it just in time, dropping into a crouch and allowing it to go right over your head.

You have only a few seconds to move before Mauya can make another attack.

She goes stiff, obviously expecting you to fight her, not hug her.

"I'm sorry," you tell her softly. "But somebody has to do this."

"No, they don't!" she tells you, her voice breaking. You don't have to see her face to know that she's crying. "You idiot, you're not going to save anybody this way. You're just going to get yourselves killed. You stupid bastard, why can't you use your head just this once?!"

"I'm going to do what Lantana's afraid to do," you tell Mauya before stepping forward and moving past her toward the building.

Sansha doesn't follow right away, so you grab her things from the building and put it onto Gava's back. You see Sansha speaking with Mauya, and the two of them share a quick embrace before the young warrior finally comes to you, tears in her eyes as she climbs onto Gava's back.

"Let's go," you tell the Sky Bison, who lets out a confused growl, looking toward Mauya, who shakes her head miserably.

He steps toward her, and she hugs his face, sobbing into his fur. Gava attempts to comfort her by licking her face, but that doesn't seem to do much. Finally, you direct Gava away from Mauya, and take off.

Neither you nor Sansha say anything as you fly away from your friends, but tears stream down both o your faces as you leave the others behind and fly toward the unknown.

Exactly my point. We made a decision based on information we had at the time, and now AFTER the fact you're telling us that it was a stupid choice because we should've read further into something else entirely that was obvious to you, who had all the information?

This isn't engendering confidence in your abilities as a QM. It's making me consider quitting now before I waste time and emotional investment, especially considering your existing track record. So who are we going to get for the B-Team? Should get at least one adult master bender. Perhaps a water bender.

Here is what i suggest
>Find Xiong have him help him liberate his own army from Kalana Clutches and have them rendevous to where Kalana is training his Firebending. Recruit Xiong is possible
>Find a waterbender which is ara ara and that is fine
>Find another earthbender perferrably female. This way we can have a double tag team of earthbenders and maybe mix with other benders and have a team effort something something(this is the back up plan in case we cant hook from those girls)
>If possible recruit a airbending who is dead set in killing kalana cause his friends/doyu was killed. In retrospect is not a healthy habit but this is where kalana strength comes from and we are drawing that same strength from a emotionally airbender (if possible female too)

We can go with a 5 man team or have it reduce by 4 and we are set, We may have not a lot of time but this way we can train and find clues on the way.

It's at least several hours before Gava begins to descend on his own, growling in a low, tired tone as he heads for the ground. You doubt you can get him to go much further.

Deciding that it's best not to push the Sky Bison too far, you allow him to land in a sandy area not too far away. Gava lets out a relieved groan as he lands, collapsing into the sand immediately and allowing both Sansha and yourself to get off.

Your friend grabs her bag and gets off of the beast, taking a moment to look over her surroundings. There doesn't seem to be any water particularly close by, nor does there look to be any cover.

"No," you answer, fishing through your bag until you locate a map, pulling it out to get some sort of idea as to where you are.

From the looks of things, you're a relatively small distance Northwest of the Great Divide. And, from the looks of things, this whole area is essentially a wasteland. However, there is a village to the North that borders the river you've been following. It's roughly a two day trip by foot, but Gava could reach it in a couple of hours. Your other option is to go East, or attempt to traverse the mountain just to the South, which has a forest on the other side of it.

"We'll stay here tonight, and fly North tomorrow," you ultimately decide.

Sansha sighs, clearly not wanting to spend the night here any more than you do, but agrees and begins unpacking her things. You, on the other hand, decide to take some time to train before readying yourself for bed.

Someone told you a long time ago that sand is technically Earth, so, there's a possibility that you could bend it. As you're currently surrounded by the stuff, you decide to give it a go.

As Sansha sets up her things, and subsequently goes to practice with her blades, you attempt to bend the sand.

The results are mixed.

You quickly find that yes, the sand will respond to you, meaning that it's Earth. Something about it makes it harder for you to manipulate, however, and you're really not able to do more than fling a little bit of sand into the air, and even then you can't really aim it.

Still, you now know that it can be done. Perhaps that's something to try later.

Looking toward Sansha, you see her furiously slicing and slashing the air with her blades, practicing various moves, techniques, and styles. You can't help but notice that she's swinging harder, and a bit more sloppily than usual, a clear sign of her current mental and emotional state.

Moving closer, you watch her as she continues her training. Even off her game, Sansha's still pretty good with a pair of blades, but you've known her long enough to tell when she isn't doing as well as she could be. You notice plenty of small mistakes that you never would have recognized before your training with her, but now seem to scream at you as she makes them.

Whether she notices or not, you really can't tell, but if she does, she doesn't pay it much mind, going at it with great ferocity until she really messes up, and her old blade flies from her hand, hitting the sand a few yards to your left.

Cursing, she rushes over to pick it up.
