Welcome to DCAQ, in our last issue our hero Isaac Morrison rolled into Chicago on our way to LA only to become embroiled in a battle against Dr. Alchemy with the blue beetle. We managed to evacuate the civilians from Kord Industries while the beetle held off the doctor and now we can rejoin the fight.

As for rules, there will be options after most updates to vote on. The option with the most votes wins after 10 minutes or a specified amount of time. I may call a vote early if I am prepared with the writing and it becomes overwhelmingly in favor of 1 option. Some action require rolls on a 1d100 crits on 1-2 and 99-100, I will call for a roll after an option has won and only the first 3 rolls after I call it count. Write ins are always welcome, I have veto power on them and may assign a roll. With all that said let's get this show on the road.

With the element of surprise gone you consider what to do next, Blue Beetle and the Doctor are still about 30’ off the ground and your vertical range seems to be lacking, you need to do something before Blue Beetle takes any more damage.

You decide that you need to get the doctor inside your range, you proceed to make several columns of ice then freezing a plane on top of them to make a decent sized platform from which to engage. While you we're doing that, beetle chucks several explosives at Dr. Alchemy only for him to use his powers to render them useless with his powers. However as the Dr. is distracted by the bombs Beetle rushes in and cracks him in the jaw sending him reeling. Seems Beetle isn't afraid to bring out the big guns now that the civilians are safe. However as you complete the structure the commotion from the fight shatters the floor sending you tumbling to the ground.

An idea pops into your head as you plummet toward the pavement. You attempt to make a slide out of ice to control your fall. You spray the ground below to make a column but then shape it into a surface on one side. You manage to catch the slide without impaling yourself and make it to the bottom and tumble out onto the pavement. Beetle and the doctor are still up there but it looks like beetle has the upper hand, the doctors trasmutations seem to be getting weaker as he runs out of steam. The victory seems to be going to beetle even without your continued help. This could be your chance to slip away.

You prepare an ice prison to hold Dr. Alchemy and signal Blue Beetle to dunk his ass. Beetle acknowledges and quickly knocks his unbalanced foe down directly into his cage, you hop in and retrieve his device while he is stunned and seal the prison only leaving some air holes. You hold up your hands to signal the kick was good and the crowd cheers for you both. The police start to move onto the scene and Beetle signals you to follow him which considering the circumstance seems like the best way to get out of this.

“Great work down there stranger, I'm called blue beetle, but you probably already gathered that, I didn't catch your name, also what brings you to Chicago”.

Blue Beetle seems like a good person, he also might be sympathetic to your predicament. You relay everything that happened so far. “Wow” beetle says, “sounds like quite a predicament, but i'm afraid all i can do is help you out of the city. This sounds like some sort of off the books or rogue operation that is pursuing you, and I can't help you fend them off. Also it sound like you met The Question, I've dealt with him before, He’s crazy but has a good heart. Anyway i can either get your car out of the city unnoticed and send you on your way or I can arrange for a private jet to LA but they may be waiting for you there as a unscheduled take off will be noticed for sure. I appreciate your help out there, getting the innocents out let me take Dr. alchemy without worrying about hurting someone. You're really good at this we should keep in touch after you finish hunting and being hunted.”

“Thanks, I might just take you up on that” you reply, time is of the essence, you should ask Blue any questions you may have and then get the fuck outta dodge.

You ask why Dr. Alchemy would want Prometheum so bad

“Volatile promethium, in addition to being extremely durable and rare. Is a catalyst for triggering meta-gene mutations. But I suspect the doctor wants it because it can generate and store a near limitless amount of energy. Prometheum in the hands of someone like him could be considered a global threat.”

“That’s heavy doc.” you reply

“Indeed Marty” beetle responds in kind

“Anyway if I can take the chance to make it all the way to LA in one sitting I have to take it. Thank you so much for all the help you've given me, and i'll definitely look you up when i'm done with all this” You say.

“Ok I'll send word to prep the jet, good luck my friend.”

30 minutes later you are in the air in a luxurious private jet owned by Ted Kord himself, It's not hard to guess Beetles identity at this point but that is the least of your worries. When you land you will be facing your pursuers, there is no question. You elect to get some rest during the four and a half hour flight. And are woken to the aircraft being diverted to an airfield outside LA.

You blast the goons from behind cover. Most of them are unconscious on the floor or rendered immobile. You've no doubt they have more waiting for you outside and probably won't send any more men into your personal shooting gallery. You peek outside to see a man in a half mask who is carrying a rifle and some sort of wrist mounted weapon arguing with a large black woman while a large grey creature and more soldiers stand by. You can't make out what they are saying obviously, but the argument is getting heated and some of the soldier turn to face the man, it seems they are on guard from him and the grey beast as well. You spot a pond off the side of the tarmac but the route to it is exposed.

You decide enough is enough, you’ve been run out of your hometown, hounded across the country, and our now face to face with the people who made these last few days hell. You decide to go out and confront them, not without preparing first thought. You rev up the bike and open up the back. You put up and ice wall for cover and park yourself behind it behind it ready for whatever they have you also subtly create a slick of black ice on the ground covering all the space between you and your adversaries.

“Why are you pursuing me?” you yell over to the crowd.

“So you finally show yourself” the woman speaks up. “There's no harm in me telling you now, people like you are a danger to this country and what has unfortunately become my main job is mitigating that danger. Now with that said, you haven't been going around engaging in criminal activity besides being a vigilante and you haven't seriously hurt anyone in pursuit of that either. Both of these things are admirable and it would make my job easier if more meta-humans behaved like you. So i'll cut you a deal, come quietly and we can work this out like adults, resist and you'll end up wishing you hadn't.”

“Don't listen to her kid, you can't trust waller as far as you can throw her if you die or lose those abilities of yours we'll all be in trouble” The masked man cuts in.

“One more outburst Lawton and i'll have you arrested” The woman swiftly replies “I've been workshopping ideas about how to make use of dangerous individuals like you, What's it gonna be Morrison?”.

“Sorry Ma’am, I just can't seem to bring myself to trust you for some reason. I promise to keep on the strait and narrow if that means anything.” You shout as the bike revs and you break for the pond. But a bullet strikes your tire and sends you crashing about half the distance to the pond. You manage to raise a column of ice to block the hail of gunfire that suddenly came your way.

“You've made a big mistake, Men, shark, give chase. Lawton, hobble him” Waller shouts. As she barks these orders those who gave chase comedically pile up as they slide over the ice and Deadshot takes one of the cars for himself, but not before putting a few shots in the tires of the others.

“Lawton, what the hell are you doing?” the woman asks.

“Sorry Waller, if it we're anyone else I wouldn't care. But I have to look out for number 1 and almost nothing you could offer me would be worth going through the shit I would if he were to die.” Lawton replies as he rushes over to your position. “Kid, there's a complicated history and i'm giving up a big paycheck and burning one of my most stable bridges so do me a favor and don't die.”

You hop on top of Lawtons car and tell him to step on it. He obliges and you speed off down the runway in hopes of getting out of their range. But there's a problem, While you get clear of the soldiers, king shark chucks the remains of the column you left behind as he charged at you and Lawton and you spin out and are thrown from the car. You are now faced with a large grey skinned beast man, this seems familiar but still terrifying. You are now too far from the pond to realistically get there.

You decide to play it safe, you wall off the car from the shark as Lawton tries to start it again. And you take a defensive position as you freeze the ground around you. The shark charges again but you are ready, you juke him as he approaches and he slides on the ice head first into the wall. Just as this happens you hear the car start again and an angry voice telling you to ice that big grey bastard and let's go. He's not done yet thought as he shakes his head in pain and prepares to lunge at you again.

You decide it's time to be done with this, you try and catch sharkboy off-guard with a quick spear to the face which shatters on impact, then coating your fists in ice you muster all of your strength and deliver a haymaker to the reeling shark man. The beast makes a sound slightly too high pitched for his body and slumps over. You waste no time in getting into the car as Lawton stomps on the gas and you're off. Waller and the soldiers only catch up to the shark in time to see you leave the airstrip and disappear over the hills.

The shark gets up with and makes his anger plain with a roar. He doesn't like being beat up and he knows Waller will give him shit for this.

>King shark is now an Oceanus rouge

“Waller won't stop there Isaac, I'll take you to a guy who knows where David is and then i'm gone. I don't appreciate being put in this position and you being one of those costumed freaks doesn't help none.” Lawton speaks up.

“Thanks for the assist anyway, Lawton.” You reply.

“Whatever, also no Lawtons around here I’m called Deadshot”.

You ride for 20 minutes in the awkward silence between an assassin and a superhero working together. You decide to ask Deadshot something, maybe he knows some of the answers you're looking for.

>ask for the whole story (warning perspectives will switch for several updates to Deadshot as he is the one telling you the history)

“What exactly is Waller trying to do and why did she want me, so badly that she would go through all this trouble.” You speak up.

“I don't know exactly why she wants them, but she is scooping up metahumans from all over the country that she thinks will be trouble. I've made good money helping her do so. Most of them were scum anyway, some of them weren't. If I had to guess its either for some wierd government experiments or she wants to put a leash on them to use as attack dogs like sharkboy back there. That’s all I know besides overhearing the word Cadmus being thrown around, don't know what that means thought.” Deadshot replies

“Oh” is all you can think to say, this sheds some light on why you were being chased and you don't particularly like the sound of either of those two outcomes.

“So I'm told you used to work with my parents and Ray as mercenaries, how were they back then.” You ask

“Umm your dad and I butted heads a lot but worked we'll together regardless, your mom and I didn't really interact at all but both we're pretty badass I don't mind admitting. Ray is a fucking asshole and is ultimately the reason our unit broke up, besides you of course, he was second in command behind Wilson, Your dad was an infiltrations specialist but could hold his own good in a real fight, your mom used to be our scout but switched to running our back lines and support once she got knocked up. Ray always thought he was a better shot than me even though he was in his 30s and I was 19, I'd humiliate him now thought.” He goes on and on about how Ray sucks, you feel you are only getting one perspective thought.

Soon enough you are in the city, and Deadshot pulls up to a run down apartment building. “A man who can take you to your father lives there, appartment 13 5th floor. He won't be happy to see you but probably won't be hostile. Good luck I guess I don't need you dying before I do.”
Deadshot speeds off and you are close to your final destination. You don't know who awaits upstairs but you are on your guard none the less.
