I sigh, as I turn and open my eyes, as the smell of cooking meat makes me realize just how hungry I am right now. And I laugh, at myself, dropping my arms and letting the weights on them fall to the ground as I sheath my zanpakuto and begin to head off to try and see if I can get a quick meal before I head off to the barracks.

Smells like pork to, my favorite. I hope they leave some more fat on it this time, that always seems to make it taste better. Well, I'm sure it'll be as extravagant as it usually is. Just hope I can get enough of it, don't need to spend the day with an empty stomach after all. And besides a full stomach would probably do me some good and help me get over this.

I mean, I'm sure I'll do fine, I just need to stop thinking I won't and I'll stop feeling like this. But some food will definitely help distract me.

Walking along the porch, every step I take echoing around me as I make my way through the gardens, and head inside the actual manner, taking the quickest way I know to the dining room, my stomach growling hungrily as I try and pick up the pace a bit.

Thankfully, it seems most of the servants are still asleep, so I don't have to worry about running into anyone in my rush to eat. I'm practically sprinting now, running past all the beautifully sculpted and painted art lining the hallways.

I don't even know what I was so worried about, I'm sure I'll do fine. I always do after all.

The gates to the sixth's barracks stand before me, wide open. I can see some of the unseated Shinigami practicing, being drilled by one of my fellow officers, I think he outranks me, but I've never thought to find out.

I walk in, and instantly feel people staring, weather from jealousy, curiosity or something else, I don't really care enough to think to deeply on it.

I hate late work shifts, they always happen on days you run, ah well.

But it is pretty annoying, having all these people looking at me with different kinds of stares. Kind of pisses me off actually. I stop, standing halfway up the stairs leading into the barracks themselves, and turn around to face the gawkers, grimacing and showing my teeth as I glare at the envious looking ones and lean my head back

"The hell you lookin at?" I ask, deepening my voice, looking pretty intimidating I think, at least judging by how quickly the newer soul reapers look away from me "Tch"

I smile happily and chuckle as I walk up the stairs leading to the second floor and teasingly say "What? it was just a question"

Shaking my head, I stand at the back of the short line outside of the duty officer's office, staring ahead blankly as I watch it slowly shrink and vanish away.

"Ah Kemuri, glad to see your hair hasn't turned white with stress Ah" the officer says laughing as he sees "Oh, what a shame, seems it has"

"Shut it" I chuckle as I walk up to him "You have no idea how much I heard that same kind of joke in life"

"Well you're laughing" He says dully, grabbing a paper from the middle of a stack of them, looking up and down it quickly as he adjusts his glasses "but lets be serious now, no time for jokes"

"Of course, so what do I have to do today anyways?" I ask, leaning against the open door frame as he flips through a few more papers, like he's thinking.

"Oh no?" I say just in case as he grins for the first time since I've met him

Heading to the academy I left sooner than any one else. I smirk, seeing it on the horizon as I start to march my way there.

I smile, trying my best to not look as scary as I always do, Since I want to have a good first impression with these students. But I don't think it works, since the ones gathering under the other soul reapers seem to try and keep their distance from me and look away, turning pale as I grin widely and try to look as relaxed as I can. I think I send a few of the younger ones running, but I try to not pay attention to that.

"How scary do I look anyways?" I ask, frowning as I stop trying and stare at the white flowers dotting the gross

"Do you want an honest answer?" the stout shinigami asks

"I mean...you just have one of those smiles, Lady" the tall one chuckles nervously "So"

The white gate of pure light somehow seems more foreboding this time, even the members of the kido corp standing around it, having just opened it in front of the sparkling awe filled eyes of these green shinigami in training, seem strangely...intimidating. I've gone through Senkaimon plenty of times already, but never as a commanding officer.

There's a bit of pressure I will admit, and I have the various reports and bounties of the hollows that have been active lately in my hands, holding it up like a map as my fellows stand behind me, and behind them, the trainees we're escorting behind them.


"Now remember" Wan says sternly "Do not think these beasts fight with honor, they will take the chance to devour you if they can, so you must show no mercy in turn"

"And don't fight them head on, none of you are strong enough for that to be a sure victory" I say, stuffing the various papers into my kimono as I turn around to face them, having barely read them"Don't take a chance and face their teeth, go from behind if you can, and always go for the neck and back of the mask, also"

I narrow my eyes, looking at the three students seriously.

"Do not break their mask if you can help it, go for the kill, not the humiliation or maiming" I say calmly "While crippling them is a great idea and really helps, if there's a kill you can make easily, take it and once again, don't get Cocky and remember your training, and don't ever chase down a running hollow, it could lead you right into a trap. Just be paitent, be calm, and don't do anything stupid and we'll all come back alive, I'm sure of it"

"Do you have any other advice?" the skinny boy asks, raising his hand as the old man nods and doesn't say a thing

"Yes in fact, as with any battle, fighting hollows relies on many things, don't assume because you have full soul reapers, two of which who are seated officers mean you're safe, always be on guard and expect the unexpected, that weak hollow might be hiding some trick or bring on a truly threatening beast" I say calmly as I walk up to the gate "Now come on, we have hollows to purge"

There's a flash of white, and I feel like I'm falling. I finish my step, walking onto a rain slicked road, surrounded by buildings and people rushing from here to there, going about their days unaware of me and the others. Or the monsters no doubt hunting them from the shadows.

I tap my sandal, looking around the street as Tora steps next to me calmly, followed by Wan and Kaba. The fat girl yelps, and Wan catches her as she trips through the gate, nearly knocking over the skinny boy and Old man. I glare at her and sigh.

These cross roads we've stepped out into are perfect for an ambush, now we just have to find a hollow. Rain patters around me as I look down at the girl and smirk.

"You three with me" I Command, standing up to my full heigh, pointing at them then myself "Shomei, Shoto, Noki, you set up an ambush here"

"Understood!" Wan shouts, bowing as he stomps off to the other end of the street

"As you wish" Tora says calmly "But wouldn't it be better to bring me and keep the students here"

"I thought of that" I say calmly "But we might scare away hollows they can fight if both of us go out, just one of us going is better and..."

"You want to be in the action" Tora says dully as I smile and nod

"First, always look for the obvious signs' I say calmly, running my hands along the claw marks on the wall "One of them was here, and it devoured a soul no doubt, the second part is looking for a lack of spirits, which isn't exactly the most reliable unless you're in a place that you know should be teeming with them, there are others signs as well, since the living will notice at some point, people vanishing and leaving behind only pools of blood, Boarded up windows and doors are also a good sign, as well as people looking for lost friends or family memebers, asking around or putting signs up for them"

"Should we be taking notes?" the skinny boy asks as the fat girl shakes her head

"You can't remember that? its all pretty easy to remember" She says teasingly as the boy sighs

"Notes make things easier" He says flatly as the old man looks at me intently, waiting for me to continue

"Don't interrupt me" I say sternly, gripping my Blade tightly as they shut up and turn back to me "Now as I was saying, if you're perceptive enough you can just feel when they're around, since they're...well the best way to explain it is that hollows feel like emptiness, nothing...besides hunger maybe, got all that"

They nod and I smile.

"Good, now see if you can find one" I say happily the girl jolting as the boy and man nod.

I smile, and push the old man from bone street a bit to the side. He huffs and rubs his chin walking around, no doubt looking for signs of the hollow.

Just as I planned. I didn't point it out, but there are footprints in the street, massive track that fit perfectly for a hollow.

And he nearly trips in one

"Koeda!" He shouts cheerfully "I found a track, I think the thing headed over ehre"

"I told you to stop calling me that?" the boy growls as the girl walks over to inspect the track "And how did we miss this"

"Maybe it made them while we were in the alleyway...I mean we would've heard it if" She begins as I walk up behind them and step in one of the tracks further along that's become a puddle

"Hmm" I say lifting my foot up, hoping they'd notice

"No" the boy says shaking his head "Kemuri would have noticed if it was...and that sounded like too much water for a recently made step"

"Yeah, I'm just working myself up I guess" the girl laughs "So...they've been here for at least long enough to fill up with rain, how do we know its still around"

"We don't" I say flatly "We just know it went this way...but hollows don't generally don't go far from their hunting grounds, So I say we follow them"

"And I felt it in this direction!" the boy shouts, running down the tracks as I follow him.

We come a small garden, with trees growing from the sides. and they get lost again. So I pretend to admire one of the flowers and.

"What are you!" the boy shouts and gasps "AH!...Ah!

"Hey don't stare" I say, trying not to laugh as he points at the claw marks running along the tree.

I turn and smile as I hear him fall over, seeing the marks on the buildings behind them, leading up to the roof

"Hey what's wrong?" the fat girl asks, helping him up

And they struggle to keep up, I groan as I have to pull the girl up as she nearly slips off the rain slick edge she stepped on

"Be more careful" I say sternly, scolding her as the man and boy look around.

"The tracks vanished!?" the boy shouts

"Maybe the damn thing flew away like a bird' the man sighs.

I turn around, and feel the hollow in a run down on building, a good leap away....looks like some kind of inn

"Sorry sorry" the girl says brushing herself off as I decide to throw them a bone

Get them to bring it out into the open, then hide on a rooftop to observe.

I watch him leap over the gap between the last building next to the run down in and the building itself. I stop, feel the other two rush pasts me like strong gusts of wind. Well, I should see how well they do on their own at the very least. It wouldn't be fair to impede their own growth by just slaughtering the thing. Leading it into the ambush will be easier if its enraged...or desperate...or afraid. But If I try to get it to chase or run after us...well one of them is likely to get hurt seriously.

I step onto the next building, and look down at them and sit down.

"What are you doing up there smokey, aren't we going to fight this thing?" the man asks

"Are you waiting for something now? what are you doing?" the boy asks impatiently

"Y..you aren't going to make us do this ourselves right?" the girl stutters as I set Ryūketsu no kōtei on my lap

"Think of this as a test, I want to see how well you can handle yourselves" I say sadly, feeling a little guilty now "Don't worry I'll be watching you from up here if there's any trouble with the hollow, I'll come and lend my blade"

The girl's face fills with dread and horror, the Man from Bone street just grins and nods, the bow simply draws his blade.

"Alright, well, follow my lead I suppose?" he says trying to sound confident, but its pretty obvious how nervous he is

I smile, as they start to climb in through the hole in the wall where one of the windows used to be, and once the fat girl manages to get in, I stand and chuckle to myself, as rain splatters against my face and my ponytail blows in the wind as my clothes slowly get more soaked.

Well no way in hell I'm going to let a bunch of students who don't know what they're doing go fight a hollow alone, that'd just end up with them dead. And I don't want that, I'm trying to teach them after all, not lead them to their graves.

Flowing through the walls and then the floor, I follow that blank emptiness down into the first floor and under its boards into the cellar. Gathering my smoke into a corner, I peer out into the darkness, and see a girl wearing a bloody, and short dress struggling to run up the stairs, whimpering quietly. One of her legs has a nasty and wet looking bruise in it, with one small mark in the middle of it.

I look down where she's looking and see a black outline in the darkness, with a mask raising above it, a laughing mask. But it isn't on a neck, its on the hollow's scorpion like tail.

The hollow cackles, and snaps its pincers, and begins to run at the girl as she stands up and pulls herself up the stairs, fear clear in her eyes.

What do I do?

She isn't going to make it. She's too badly wounded to run and that thing is right behind her. She'll be devoured if I don't do something to stop it...And I can't kill it without interfere with those three. But I can save her. I can't let her get eaten, I can save her and I can do it easily

But I only have a second to do it. Reforming in the dusty, blood scented air, I step out of my smoke, in front of the hollow.

It screeches in surprise as I rush the girl, running up the stairs and tackling her as the hollow stares at me in confusion. I glare at it and smirk, lifting the girl over my shoulder as I run and shunpo away.

"Wh..wh..what?" She says woozily, clutching her leg as I set her down on the building next to the inn "Why..why did you save me"

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" the girl screams, as Kotei begins to feed, ripping the blood out of her leg quickly, her veins bulging as she screams in agony, her skin turning paler as tears flow from her eyes.

The bruise vanishes, and kotei keeps drinking.

She begins to try to crawl away, so I grab her shoulder and hold her down. Ripping some of my sarashi off from my chest, and wrap it around her leg as quickly as I can, tighening it and tying it closed as I hear my yelling behind me

I turn, and worry grips my heart.

"Wait here!" I yell at the scared witless girl, and leap off the roof, back to the inn.

I turn to smoke mid air, steam rushing off of me with a hiss as I shoot through the floors, stopping on the first floor.

The fat girl is pinned under the hollow, blood dripping down her face. The boy and Man are squaring off against it, ready to fight it as it hisses at them, raising its mask over them threateningly

Well, seems there in more than a bit of trouble now. Can't just sit by and watch her die can I? Calmly reach my arms out of the smoke as it reforms me, placing my hand behind the tinted blade of my zanpakuto as a golden light appears on its edge, glowing brighter and brighter.

It fires flowing off my blade like lighting just as the hollow moves to strike the old man.

Blood splatters and black chitin falls to the floor. The hollow screeches as its head tail falls off, hitting the floor with an earth shaking thud, throwing dust into the air as it screeches pathetically .It wiggles, trying to squirm away as the embers and smoke swirl around me as I get my body back.

"KEMURI!?" they all shout as I swing my Zanpakuto down to my side, and sheath it in my next move

What do I do?

"Y..you're lying" She hisses

I shake my head

"I don't like when I can help it, I hate it" I say calmly "it isn't honourable, and I despise things like that, you have my word, as a samuria and shinigami, you will have a better life where I'm taking you, I swear it. And if you don't"

I grab her head and smile widely

What do you have that keep the new monster girl quest from just ending up with anons accidentally just middleling everything and being boring good people?

Likewise, are you going to end up pitting us against monstergirls who have the initial advantage type and moves early on like what you did with Fenrir? I wasn't fond of fighting a near unstoppable wolf who could easily take away our one advantage of binding her up, just by existing alone. At least so soon in the game, would have been nice if it happened after a few fights though.

Well, first off for the middling thing, some girls do start at a disadvantage in some attributes, some don't. and for the boring good people thing, well there's the humanity stat that does change the MCs perceptions on that front, different factions rather than just good or bad per say, among other things. But you can be a straight good person if you want to. You can be a massive she bitch if you want to. the world and story will change depending on what you are/ choose to do

and of course being a certain monster girl does give you advantages/ disadvantages outside of your stats and such

The first person perspective is kind of a turn-off, is the quest good enough for me to see past this? As far as Bleach Quests go, I liked German Hollow, but can't stand Shiniga-Mary Sue-vant Quest.

In pretty much any bleach quest you are going to run into the MC being overpowered in short order. For example Kimi in shikai has the budget version of Unohana's bankai.

Ghq has mary sue god that steam rolls everything.

SSQ has an MC that has more or less finally peaked out and now is running into actual fights and issues from running into a ceiling. She's Still massively strong but Aizen is moving to hard counter her and she can't get much stronger easily.

The Last Sternritter on akun has a likewise hugely strong quincy mc, who is shackled more or less by the need for secrecy because while he can stomp most non royal guards on OMG tier enemies solo, his race can't stand up to the Shinigami.

Sternritter is on akun, but yeah it's a decent read. Just FYI the MC is VERY strong and killed 4 captains in his first fight. BUt they were hitting him in a place he got a buff, they got debuffed, and they were jobber tier and/or newish. FSRQ will have issues with how strong the mc is although not nearly to the scale of others. Headmaster like crazy crits.

So far none of the mcs of the quests have. Kimi even though she's weaker than the others is just as guilty. It took YEARS for Riku to reach bankai or even call her zanpakto. By comparison literally every other bleach mc is faster than her. Kimi literally called her shikai out within days of getting an asuachi. GHQ's mc went from nobody hollow to roflstomping Aizen in about six decades. Michael of last sternritter was only 20 when he killed 6 captains.

If SSq is too mary sue and moves too "quickly" for you where the Mc has decades of stagnation with marginal improvement. Almost every other Bleach quest will piss you off.

Also do some people not like the 1st person perspective in quests? I think it helps in defining the character, since using you just....well I tried it in ASQ and I didn't like it. And I don't think third person works for quests in the long run.

I meant less as stealing them, more reading them for enjoyment and an alternative take on the verse to make you think.

Taste is subjective. Third and First person can work in a quest, just depends on the qm's writing style.

And I know that. Like I can use third person for a quest, but to me it'd feel detached from the MC/ whoever you're controlling at the moment. And the whole, You, 2nd person is well...to me it just doesn't feel right.

I mean I think I could do a 3rd person quest its just... I prefer 1st person for quests, for some reason. I mean I can write in both 3rd or 1st person, about as well as each other
