Shinobi Quest #55
This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.

(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime continued her morning routines, being escorted by Hinata to the hospital, where her treatment continued. After deciding to meet with the Aburame Matriarch, Tsuki later alerted a clansman, and the meeting was set.

Hours later, with guidance from Shino, Tsuki descended into the Aburame district of Konoha, wearing a traditional outfit of lavish purple with blue accents. The tour was short and to the point- Tsuki later learning just how defensible the Aburame Compound was. Led by the young man through the infested building network down into the tunnels below, only Shino’s incense kept her safe- or so he said.

Finally, she stepped into a long, twisting hallway- eventually reaching the meeting location. Inside sat Kogoto Aburame- the Matriarch of the Aburame.

You walk towards the door, slowly.

The hallways stretches farther than it seems, and at your pace it takes your farther than it should to reach the doorway.

All at once, you’ve reached it- and cautiously, you reach forward to the doorknob.

You gently turn the knob and push, and the door acquiesces.

Inside, an elderly woman sits alone at a table, packing tobacco into a long, slender pipe.

The room itself is brightly lit and plainly adorned, with-

“Well, come in, girl. I don’t have all evening for you to admire my home.” Kogoto Aburame criticizes, interrupting your observation.

The woman’s voice is low and sultry, seemingly undamaged despite her habit.

Not wanting to subjected to further criticism, you step forward, closing the door behind you.

You introduce yourself, but the woman seems uninterested, instead lighting her pipe, eventually taking a long drag.

Her eyes narrow in on you, and she exhales a thin stream of smoke in your direction.

“I know who you are. Sit.” She says sharply.

You obey, pulling out the chair.

Sitting down, you find yourself face to face with the head of the Aburame clan.

A faint, knowing smile spreads across her lips.

“Shall we begin?”

The old woman gives you a visual once over, before taking another deep drag from her pipe.

“At least you know how to dress for the occasion. That gaudy thing you wore to the Examinations was unsightly, child. This suits you much better.” She critiques- although there is a shallow smile behind the biting words.

[Kogoto’s Opinion +1]

[Negotiation!]

[When dealing with someone at or above your charismatic ability, a simple charisma check will not suffice to make them see your side. Instead, the conversation will go forward in it’s entirety, and the choices you make will affect that person’s opinion of you- or the faction or idea you are representing. When reaching a suitable level positive or negative opinion, the conversation will take a positive or negative turn- allowing to verbally go in for the kill- or try desperately to save your floundering negotiation. I hope this will make our more… intense negotiation sessions a little more exciting than a simple check.]

You fight the urge to bite back- you liked that dress, and your father had it personally made by the finest tailors in the capital.

Outwardly, however, you give not an inch- this women will be eying you for any flaws she can find- and weakness she can exploit.

You…

1. Make some idle talk about your performance in the exams, since she brought it up.

2. Compliment her home and her own attire.

3. Thank her for her clan’s assistance during the attack on Konoha.

4. Cut through this obfuscating- you’re here for business, and you both know it. These pleasantries are beneath you.

5. Object to her use of "girl" and "child". You come here as equals- and you demand the proper respect.

“Lady Kogoto, before we begin- I’d like to take a moment to thank you for your entire clan’s assistance during the assault on our village. Not only did your clansmen protect many lives- without their unique abilities we may not have been able to overcome the adversities that followed.” You say, rising from your chair to bow respectfully.

Not too deeply, however.

“With all of my heart- thank you.” You say, keeping you eyes downcast.

Silence is all that greets you- is she stunned by your admission, or merely considering your words?

You hear her take another puff of her pipe- before airy laughter greets your ears.

“You may rise, child. It has been a while since someone has thanked us so earnestly for our help- in fact, I believe it was your mentor who stood in this same position, all those years ago….”

“Regardless, you are most welcome. Our clan’s ability is most unique indeed- and while some other shinobi practice similar arts, none are more dedicated than we. Many forget the role the Aburame have always quietly played in Konoha’s prosperity, giving deference to the Dojutsu users, or the Senju. We do not chafe without recognition, as some might- but it is still nice to be recognized now and again.”

You return to your seat, and make eye contact with the Aburame matriarch. Her face may be a mask- but her gaze has softened, ever so slightly.

[Kogoto’s Opinion +2!]

“Speaking of our lovely Kikaichu, what is your opinion of insects and beetles, young Tsuki? Many are rather put off with contact with them- despite the Kikaichu being single minded in their devotion. We share our bodies with them, and in return the grant us power. The entire world operates under similar properties- everything is a matter of exchange.” Kogoto asks, her face impassive.

There seems to be a bit of movement on the side of the table.....

1. (Lie) I find them quite interesting!

2. (Lie) I do not mind their presence.

3. You… aren’t particularly keen on them crawling on you.

4. Disgusting!

5. Try to deflect the question by changing topics- exchange is something your family is famous for.

I'll be honest I find them truly fascinating biologically and they represent the perfect system, They live and protect the whole, work seamlessly. While i'm not afraid of them or unnerved by them, I do think the sensation a little bit odd. Not unpleasant just...new.

Funny it's quite ironic, its the things that make so many uncomfortable that infact hold everything together so that they can live their comfortable lives.

But with all things unpleasant does not mean bad, often we find the right choices are the hard and unpleasant ones.

I do look forward to hopefully seeing them in action more often, truly a fascinating species.

“Insects can truly be beautiful- and there is no denying the usefulness they provide to your clan and to Konoha… but I admit, I am not overly fond of them.” You explain.

As another moment of silence passes between you, a large beetle with a scissor-like maw crawls slowly onto the table. It’s head moves slightly, first towards you, then towards Kogoto, who gently places her hand on the creature.

“A shame- but I appreciate your honesty. We are raised around them since birth, so to the Aburame, they are our companions. A lost insect is beyond the thoughts of most humans, but we try to give them the same consideration they give us as protectors of the nest.” Kogoto says, gently petting the insect.

[Kogoto's Opinion +0]

“This one is one of my beloved O-Kuwagata; a class of warrior beetle that are rare outside the compound. They are rather long-lived and quite intelligent compared to some of their brethren- and when fully grown, they are capable of destroying fortifications and cleaving men in twain.” She explains further, lifting the large insect and placing it in her open palm.

It clacks it’s mandibles a few times- not that you know what that means.

The beetle turns to you, clacks it’s mandible once- and suddenly takes flight!

It lazily circles around you, before landing on your head.

“Oho- he does seem to have taken a liking to you, young Tsuki! Although, maybe he just finds your chakra interesting…?” The old woman coos, a smug smile on her face.

It takes all your composure to remain still…..

You freeze.

Despite your best efforts, your eyes widen and your body stiffens.

The beetle slowly crawls atop your head, sifting through your hair.

You feel sweat beading on your forehead- and mentally, you plead.

Please! Call it off…..

“Return to me, Ravana. The poor girl looks like she’s about to go into shock.” Kogoto calls, her voice sterner than before.

Mercifully, the beetle flares it’s wings, and flies over to Kogoto’s outstretched hand, landing gently.

“You need to work on that fear of yours, girl. Surely you’ve experienced worse things in your work? Although, it does remind me of those early years at Lord Tobirama’s academy….” She tuts, before some memory softens her expression.

[Kogoto’s Opinion -1]

[+2 total, for those of you counting at home!]

“Anyway, we should focus on why you’ve come. That geezer Shimura has always had a one-track mind since we graduated to serve the Lord Second- and with the Third dead and young Minato missing… I likely guessed his intentions before he even thought of them. He wishes to revive his ROOT organization- but really, does he plan to remain in the shadows as before, after the will of the last Hokage destroyed everything he worked for…?”

“Tell me, Tsuki Norihime. Does Danzo Shimura intend to become Hokage?”

Her eyes bore into you- and the question catches you slightly off guard.

You respond….

1. Truthfully. You do not know if Danzo plans on attempting to become Hokage.

2. By backpedaling. You are here to discuss ROOT’s revival- not the office of Hokage.

3. By taking a leap of logic- or perhaps forming your own plan? Danzo will become the next Hokage.

4. By taking a leap of logic- or perhaps forming your own plan? Danzo will not become the next Hokage.

5. By admitting that he has plans to rig the election of the next Hokage for a favorable candidate.

Danzo is not the right man to be Hokage. The Hokage is a public figure, he's a man who should stay in the shadows keeping Konoha safe. What's needed is a Hokage willing to listen to him, and able to understand that sometimes Konoha needs to take actions which the Hokage cannot publicly get involved with or acknowledge. Hiruzen understood that.

“Truthfully? I don’t know if he intends to step forward as a candidate. If he does, he hasn’t expressed that intention to me, or to anyone else. However- we are here to discuss the revival of ROOT and the Aburame’s place within it- not the office of Hokage.” You remind Kogoto.

She puffs thoughtfully on her pipe, then sighs.

“Were I twenty years younger, I’d get the information out of him myself. Alas, time marches forward- and the younger generations must pick off where we’ve left off.” She laments.

[Kogoto’s Opinion +0]

“Very well, let us discuss the old geezer’s pet project. I shan't play games- ROOT was always effective at it’s purpose before. Keeping our enemies weak- separated- and at each other’s throats. We would never suffer the indignities of the FIrst and Second Shinobi World Wars again- losing our leaders to foreign assassins, having our beloved home come under attack….”

“Why would Minato choose to destroy such an organization, one that proved so valuable to his predecessor?”

Kogoto smiles.

“I would hear your answer, Tsuki Norihime. Why did the previous incarnation of ROOT fail?”

You answer by saying….

1. Minato was a fool, and did not realize how valuable ROOT was.

2. ROOT’s ties to the criminal Orochimaru doomed it to failure.

3. Danzo’s relationship with Minato was the source of the failure.

4. It’s the Uchiha’s fault that ROOT was disbanded!

5. Danzo overreached himself… and brought doom upon his organization.

Both. ROOT having connections with the traitor was a primary reason as to why it was considered to be 'evil'. But it's also how Minato doesn't see the usefulness of ROOT, that it's advantages outweighs it's disadvantages, that brought it down in the eyes of Minato. If he only acknowledged and understood it's purpose...
>>
>>961085
>5. Danzo overreached himself… and brought doom upon his organization.
At that point it was loyal to him and his goals, not to Konoha.
>>

>1. Minato was a fool, and did not realize how valuable ROOT was.
>2. ROOT’s ties to the criminal Orochimaru doomed it to failure.
>5. Danzo overreached himself… and brought doom upon his organization.

Bit of these three.
>>
>>961132
Yeah, 3 and 4 are really the only shitty choices.

Danzo overreached, causing ROOT to be unmanageable and also go a bit too far into shady, unethical and unnecessary research. Minato noticed this, and ROOT's ties to Orichimaru were merely a catalyst or excuse for him to end things. At the same time, Minato was a fool because even if ROOT had issues, it did serve a purpose and it's likely its Pros outweighed its Cons. Either way, it should have just been restructured and regulated a bit tighter instead of outright disbanded, that was retarded.

I think we really need to remind people that under the Third we were doing great because while people were peaceful and friendly, Hiruzen was the kind hand, if you rejected Hiruzen then Danzo would deal with you. It's a very very strong model of rule.
>>
>>961155
The problem is that ROOT was loyal to only one person: Danzo. And Minato didn't trust Danzo, for justifiable reasons. Danzo caused a lot of problems.

Frankly the organization needed to be mostly gutted and rebuilt anyway, with oversight and accountability. Which we can do now.

“There is no one definitive answer to your question, Kogoto.” You announce, crossing your arms.

“However- more than any other, Danzo’s overreaching his boundaries and the resulting failure caused the end of ROOT’s original incarnation.”

“To give such a vague answer with such conviction… come now, Tsuki. What did he do?” Kogoto says dismissively.

You grit your teeth- she’ll make you say it aloud….? You haven’t even discussed this with man himself, but…

“He attempted to kill Shisui Uchiha for his Dojutsu- and failed.” You admit.

“Oho- you admit it, then? That he betrayed one of his own loyal men for nothing but personal gain?” Kogoto says, pressing you.

“It’s not exactly a well guarded secret- both of us knew what happened before meeting, Kogoto. This is not new information for you.” You say impassively, calling her bluff.

“Better with words than insects, I see.” She says with a smirk.

[Kogoto’s Opinion +1]

“Danzo was hungry for power- and no matter what fancy words or aspirations he uses to dress up that fact, the fact itself remains. In his lust for power, he nearly destroyed his entire legacy. So, I will ask you, Tsuki Norihime- what was Danzo’s greater sin- his lust for power, or his inability to achieve the power he has always lusted after?”

Ravana, the O-Kuwagata, clacks his mandibles aggressively.

What… is the correct answer?

1. Danzo’s sin was his lust for greater power.

2. Danzo’s sin was his failure to achieve the power he lusted after.

The pursuit of power itself wasn't the problem, it's that, in the end, he lost sight of what he was sacrificing for that power, and that's what led to his downfall.

>>

1. Danzo’s sin was his lust for greater power.

Do not seek greater power; power on its own is pointless. Seek power for a purpose.

Is that regard, the fact that Danzo 'lusted' after power, as it became its own end rather than a means to the end of a more prosperous Konoha, is his chief failing.

>>961276
>>961247
Changing to
>2. Danzo’s sin was his failure to achieve the power he lusted after.
>>
>>961314
It's pretty straightforward.

He got too greedy for power, he crossed a line in order to do so, and his shit started crumbling down around him once others learned of it.

The pursuit of power itself didn't damn him, it was his loss of perspective in doing so that damned him; his successfully obtaining the power or not wouldn't change that.
>>
>>961314
>>961322
This. That and the entire purpose here is stating whether or not we recognize that there is a need for more power than Konoha currently has, that we need more power, a force called ROOT to do what ANBU and other normal ninjas are not willing to do. Danzo may have lusted for power, but his ultimate goal has never changed; for the safety and prosperity of Konoha. Hell, he was even reluctant to restart ROOT when we first suggested the idea to him, and had to convince him it was still needed. How could that kind of a man be so simply defined as a man who lusted after too much power?
>>
Guys think long and hard.

We are talking about the formation of an organization that GETS SHIT DONE BLACK OPS STYLE THAT HELPS LEAF GO TO NEW HEIGHTS

The most important part is completing the mission. Danzo failed what he set out to do and got ROOT dissolved because of it. That's the main issue.
>>
>>961335
Yes anon, think about what she wants and who she supports. Power is a good thing, the Aburame have been slowly amassing power in the background for as long as the village has existed.

They're lust for power isn't being punished because of how they're going about it. Saying lusting for power is wrong is showing a lack of conviction in our and ROOTs ideals.

>>
>>961247
>2. Danzo’s sin was his failure to achieve the power he lusted after.
Rule #1 of ROOT: complete the mission.
ROOT was all about seeking power, doing anything and everything possible no matter the consequences. Murder, kidnapping, blackmail, treason, everything was permitted and expected, except failure.
>>
>>961348
Either way could be contrived into that belief though.

1 could suggest that he couldn't control his desire for more power, leading him to act recklessly and ultimately damn ROOT.

2 could suggest that the pursuit of power was fine but that he wouldn't have fucked up if he had gone about it differently.

This is exactly what I believe, that while he was trying to achieve the goals of ROOT by whatever means he had to use, he failed in the attempt and fucked up too much, hence leading up to the disbanding of ROOT.

“His sin was his failure to achieve the power he lusted after.” You decide after a few moments.

Kagoto smiles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Mdo1K9i8KY

“Spoken like a true shinobi. Our world scarcely tolerates the weak- and the weak are punished disproportionately to the strong. The strong must lead the weak- until the weak themselves are able to become strong. If they cannot, or will not, then they submit to the will of the strong, to remain safe. Some may say that Danzo’s actions were immoral- I will tell you here and now, “morality” will not save anyone.

“We cannot speculate in good faith what would’ve happened if ROOT remained active, if Danzo had not failed to achieve his goals. However- such an organization without any ambition of it’s own is doomed to failure eventually. The true difference between the first three Hokage and the Fourth comes down to that very word: Ambition. Minato relegated himself to a passive role, and could do nothing but react to the world around him, rather than forcing the world to react to him and his desires- the desires of those he was sworn to protect.

The needs of the hive must always outweigh the needs of the individual. Some mistake this philosophy for collectivist weakness; while a colony of weak insects together are strong, a colony of strong insects together are stronger.

Our world revolves around strength- and to be stronger than all other guarantees our safety.”

[Kagoto’s Opinion + 2]

[Kagoto’s Opinion has reached 5/5]

“I ask one final question of you, Tsuki Norihime. Danzo failed once before. While the man and I share a history, I am cautious to dedicate my clansmen to a cause knowing that such an instance could repeat itself. So, my question: What will you do differently to ensure ROOT’s success?”

You consider your thoughts….

1. Danzo has learned from his mistake, and will not fail again.

2. I will prevent Danzo from failing to achieve the power he needs.

3. If Danzo fails, I will achieve that power in his stead.

The only TRUE answer, to take up that task ourselves directly in order to ensure the success of ROOT, and the prosperity and safety of Konoha along with it. Do remember that while Danzo has a lot more of the knowledge and wisdom of the old, it is us to us, the younger and stronger generation to take up the actual doing of the tasks. That means Tsuki needs to be responsible directly to help ROOT to get what it needs. Tsuki ain't just helping Danzo, she's doing this out of her own will and purpose.

On second thought, we just talked about never failing. 4 is better than 3.

We will not let the ROOTs wither, another will take up the mantle of Danzo, over and over. The Tree will grow, should a root become infected we will simply cut it off. Should one die, the others will grow stronger.

Hope for success and plan for failure.

“There is only one true path forward, Kogoto.” You say, standing from your chair.

“I’m listening, Tsuki.” She says, leaning on the table.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoCDlOLN9Y8

“I will achieve the power required to safeguard Konoha. I will ensure that Danzo cannot fail again, by taking the lead myself. I have learned from his mistakes- so that even if he has not straightened his course, his future failures will be rendered irrelevant.

“I, Tsuki Norihime, will lead them. I will force this world to react to us, rather than allow us to lapse into a stagnant state of reactionism. The glorious tree of Konoha will be reborn, beginning with it’s ROOTs.”

“Exactly what I needed to hear, Tsuki. Consider the assistance of the Aburame yours- along with this word of advice. Lean on those stronger than you until you can achieve that power. The path you are on is long and hard- but it correct. Never waiver in that belief- and the world shall follow.”

You bow to Kogoto, who returns the bow.

“Your future is bright, Tsuki. If you ever feel the need for guidance, the Aburame will here to assist you.”

“Of course- and the Norihime will earn the faith you have put in us.” You say in return.

As you leave, you cannot help but smile. Have you realized something about yourself- or have your goals simply become that much clearer?

Shino guides you out of the compound wordlessly- he, too, seems to have noticed the change.

As you pass through the front gates, the quiet shinobi finally speaks.

“Be careful, Tsuki-chan. I look forward to our cooperation.”

In response, you shoot him your winning Norihime smile.

Tsuki will be this new nation's Queen, and when the world is ours, and the lesser nations have been indoctrinated into our great country they will call us Mistress of Blue Flame, she who purifies, and cleanses with her great flames. She who spreads the will of fire to every man, woman and child on the face of the earth.

>You can totally trust me, your favorite pupil, sensei!
>>
Things seemingly went well, but I just hope this doesn't bite us later.

My problem in all this is that it doesn't address the real reason why Danzo failed. It wasn't because of a narrow dichotomy between pursuing too much power, or failing to secure power, it was because he had lost sight of where Konoha's interests differed from his own, and that's what caused him to start going off the rails. He convinced himself that his absolute loyalty to Konoha meant that his objectives were inherently for Konoha's own good, and that's what caused him to eventually start undertaking actions that were beneficial to him and ROOT but harmful to Konoha (see: demanding Kakashi's sharingan, attempting to assassinate the Third, the whole bit with Shisui, etc.).

If he only hadn't lost sight of these things, ROOT might have continued to be a crucial arm of Konoha's black ops instead of being labeled a danger to the village.
>>
>>962094
Maybe so, but we did address the solution:

Tsuki. Her influence has already changed Danzo for the better.
>>
Man, I miss one thread and everyone goes completely stupid. The answer was obviously that he went about getting the power wrong. He betrayed someone that put huge amounts of trust in him. That's the wrong way to gain power.

Ambition and a desire for more are not inherently good or bad (both the moral and "worse than something else" senses of the word) but how you go about fulfilling you ambition and obtaining you desires can be either. The way Danzo went about it was obviously morally wrong AND worse than pretty most any other option.

>>961855
GG Wargle you gave them the option of making Tsuki into a spineless pansy and a psychopath and everybody was too concerned with being right that they couldn't see the correct answer staring them in the face.

>>
>>962488
Your point about Danzo fucking up with regards to how he pursued power (as opposed to the pursuit of power itself or the inability to obtain the power) was a very valid one, one that we likely should have mentioned if we weren't convinced that doing so would just irritate her.

Kogoto likely wouldn't have given a damn about it though, and that's kind of my minor objection to having this event used as a touchstone for Tsuki's beliefs. Hopefully the other head negotiations will help flesh her views out more.

>>962577

It'd be cute to see Tsuki building her diabolical and underhanded plans using stuffed animals and dolls as stand-ins for people.

Especially if they all the animals squeak.
>>
>>962561
Our choices in there were interpreted as Tsuki correspondingly refining her beliefs according to what she told Kogoto.

That's the reason for the whole line about how she "sees things clearer now", and that's the part that worries me seeing as Kogoto clearly wanted to hear Tsuki tell her a specific interpretation of old ROOT's failings.
>>
>>962589
Well Yume would be Danzo, obviously, but what animals would Tsuki get for everyone else?
>>
>>962600
We had exactly two choices, no third options. 2 was correct as shown by our increase of opinion.

>>
>>962602

Big spider for the Aburames, even though they keep correcting her that spiders aren't bugs.
>>
>>962603
Fine, I apologize for that semantic error.

I meant that the other anon had a point about the restrictive nature of the conversation when Danzo's true failings weren't really either the choice to pursue power or the failure to obtain it.

That said, she did ask us "which of the two" so, as I acknowledged before, writing in a third option on that specific choice likely would have just irritated her, but even so we might have been able to find some way elaborate on the nature of Danzo's failure.
>>

Remember that increasing Kogoto's opiniom of you means it was the answer she was looking for, based on her interpetation of events and her philosophy.

This does not make it factually correct- and critizing Danzo's actions towards gaining really only falls into one of two camps-

He was either wrong because of what he did (option 1) or he was wrong because he was unable to do it successfully (option 2)

Again, Kogot's beliefs explain what she was looking for- you couldve disagreed with her and have Tsuki explain her side of it.

You would've lost opinion, sure, but wouldn't have failed the Negotiation. You were still sitting at +3 overall.

Love that it garnered this much discussion. Thread in about 2 hours.

Bruce Wayne Tsuki can use the Kibas. Batman ROOT Tsuki shouldn't.
>>
>>963005
We are gonna need a good fucking excuse to not join ANBU though. Tsuki has been shown to want to have more power and we would be turning down a huge step up in the world. Not even for meta reasons, but to not seem super suspicious.

Agreed. When on public normal missions, Kibas are a go. When on ROOT missions, use plain normal stuff only.

I can maybe see Moon Demon not liking the idea of us going for power, but we could spin it to her about wanting peace.

And what about an actual gym for shinobi?
Think about it, ninja are always doing some crazy random shit out in the woods somewhere.

All we do is compile the best methods of training, set everything up and charge a membership fee.

"Gee, i'm having difficulty learning to do this one thing" -A Ninja

Then the dude comes in and we have targets set up at all kinds of angles for practicing your kunai throwing, padded posts for practicing your kicking, unpadded posts for REALLY practicing your kicking, swimming courses, sparring rings, a sectioned off area for practicing destructive techniques like fire or lightning jutsu almost like a gun range, a simulated tree course with complex jumps, a little area off the the side where you can safely practice assembling and removing a wide variety of traps, extra-extra heavy weights for strength training, extra-extra heavy bands for resistance speed training, treadmills that can handle a ninja's high speed, long-endurance running and so on.
Have one or two instructors along with free training manuals (gym property, no stealing) to help people learn how to use the equipment and teach them the proper technique to train what they're wanting.

A single, large area where ninja of all levels can train their abilities without having to leave the village.
And of course we'd sell nutrition pills supplied by the akimichi clan to help boost recovery and energy, as well as lots of regular snacks and drinks at a high markup.

Ninja Gym.

As you leave the sheltered confines of eastern Konoha that the Aburame call home, the cold nighttime air nips at your ears. Winters are not especially harsh in the Land of Fire, but with the final days of Autumn waning, it shouldn’t be too long before soft white snows blanket Konoha.

You’ve never been overly fond of winter. Though it is the season of your birth, it’s unpleasant weather and cold temperatures have done little to endear it to you. Even mission traffic generally slows in the winter months, as the northern nations settle in to endure the harsh weather. This season might be different, of course- the world seems intent on shattering your notions of normality of late.

You sigh- your breath dissipating in a faint cloud.

You miss the warm summer nights, and the breezy spring days.

But, as Kogoto said- time marches ever forward. The seasons you enjoy will come again in time.

It's funny- you found that while the old woman was definitely imtimidating- she wasn't nearly as scary as some people seemed to think. Or... have you simply not seen that side of her...?

For now, though, you focuse on how to spend the rest of your night.

You will….

1. Go report to Danzo on the successful negotiation with the Aburame.

2. Return to the Hyuga compound. The report can wait- and besides, it’s getting chilly out.

No- it’s best to make the report now. You can tough out a bit of cold- and some exercise should warm you up.

Utilizing the Shunshin, you rush to a nearby rooftop, and take off running towards the Hokage Monument, and the entrance to the ROOT facility.

-------

As you climb the flights of stairs leading upwards behind the monument, you cannot help but wonder at some of Kogoto’s words.

Hashirama Senju.

Tobirama Senju.

Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Minato Namikaze.

Were differences in ambition truly the biggest differences between them? Certainly Minato did not seem to have much in the way of ambition for Konoha- especially compared to the other three. Minato had no war to fight, no village to establish.

Now, another will take up the seat of Hokage, during a time where Konoha is quite vulnerable.

It honestly worries you- even more than it had previously. Konoha needs a strong, visionary leader- but you, or rather, Danzo- has every intention of installing a Kage who will listen to his council, or possibly even an effective puppet.

These goals seem at odds- and you don’t have any way to reconcile them right now. You can only hope that a resolution makes itself clear before the selection begins in earnest.

----------

You gently slide the door in Danzo’s old quarters aside, stepping into the elevator shaft.

Producing your key, you insert it into the ignition- and the mechanism sputters to life.

Within a few days, Father should return- likely with news from the Capital. If the selection is to happen soon….

1. Danzo might actually be a good choice. A strong, decisive leader, who obviously knows what must be done to achieve greatness for Konoha.

2. Kakashi would be serviceable- Itachi has faith in him- and perhaps he could be convinced to lend Danzo his ear?

3. There must be another choice. Neither is the candidate that Konoha needs to survive.

(To be clear, you are not selecting the next Hokage here- only determining Tsuki’s personal opinion.)

While i'd rather have Danzo straight up in charge, putting him at the top straight up draws the eye and will draw attention.

If we are to revive ROOT proper...we need to stay in the dark. It's not about titles or standing in the spotlight, its about doing what has to be done behind the scenes.

Danzo would be a good hokage, but as it's been stated before, our kind are better off working in the shadow, doing what the face of our country never could.

Clans that are against ROOT: Maybe Hyuga and the Uchia are firmly opposed. The Fatties are also opposed, but their suboordinates the Yamanakas and the Nara are more supportive, but they won't go against their boss's will.

Clans for ROOT: Aburame
>>
>>963609
The Hokage isn't just a leadership spot, it must have one of the strongest ninjas to fill the seat. After all, this is NOT a democracy, it's a military dictatorship with the strongest at the top.
>>
>>963601
It's more they are very "Will of fire". Put it this way the village has lots of parallels for the Leaves and Roots.

Hiruzen/Danzo
Nara/Aburame

Those are two of the more obvious examples
>>
>>963614
better than the alternatives
>>
>>963609
Kages are usually the reason you don't declare a war on a nation. They are one person armies to surpass all others.

>3. There must be another choice. Neither is the candidate that Konoha needs to survive.

Wow putting Danzo in charge with Shisui's hate boner is a terrible idea. Moreso than before. Karashi...actually not much better, with Obito around.
>>
Ok so we need to win support of the Inoshikacho..... Fuck.

Ok we know the Yamanaka are very likely to side with us, the Nara are iffy. Its the Akimichi we need to deal with...at-least we're on good terms with Choji.
>>
>>963634
Shikamaru can maybe vouch for us. Maybe play up that both our families are putting their brains together could save many lives.
>>
>>963631
We just say we convinced her of our resolve and that ROOT will not fail. We only replace him if he fails or goes down.
>>
>>963634
It would be smart to look into getting some of the smaller clans too like and we should check out the Inazunas
>>
>>963641
She is a powerful matriarch, but she'll turn Konoha into a place that makes the Land of Snow look like a paradise.
>>
>>963634

>>
>>963660
Getting the Nara on our side means basically nothing without the Akimichi
>>
>>963665
If we get the Nara then the Akimichi will be more likely to join since we have both their supporting clans.
>>
One of the minor clans we can look into is the Kurama clan which is great genjutsu users. If I remember right its just one lonely girl right now.
>>
>>963665
Getting the Akimichi on our side means basically nothing without the Nara.
>>
>>963665
One at a time. Work with the ones more favourable first and move upwards.

They won't go against in public but there will be private consultations and if both houses do agree that there is use, we might be able to persuade the akimichi privately to agree that the measures are required in these times.
>>
Aburame Clan: Support ROOT
Akimichi Clan: Unknown
Hyūga Clan: Unlikely
Inuzuka Clan: Total Unknown
Nara Clan: Possible is careful
Sarutobi Clan: Not a chance in hell
Uchiha Clan: Not a chance in hell
Uzumaki Clan: Not a chance in hell
Yamanaka Clan: Supported us before, may again

Am i forgetting anyone?
>>
>>963672
S'actually false because the Nara and Yamanaka are subordinate to the Akimichi

>>963681
Seems like you got most of them, Akimichi is also No
>>
>>963689
We know that if both Nara and Yamanaka are for ROOT then the Akimichi will fold.
>>
>>963695
S'not how it works, it isn't a democracy. They follow the lead of their noble house
>>
>>963697
The Akimichi are very nice, also it will be a big push in our favour.
>>
Why not get Danzo in charge? He's not exactly the same person that he was in the original Manga.
>>
>>963701
They're also stubborn, I don't think it's that easy
>>
>>963681
>Uzumaki Clan: Not a chance in hell
I mean, it's just Nori and Naruto now, we have a pretty good relationship with them, I'm sure if we spin it the right way they'd be on board.

spin their father's death in our favor, say if he were alive he'd take whatever steps necessary to keep the village safe now that it was in danger
>>
>>963697
They have the final say, but securing the favor of their subordinates would still likely count in our favor.
>>
>>963708
Because it will provoke other nations...but we shall see.
>>
>>963713
Nah they inherited daddy's WoF and have pervy sage whispering in their ear.
>>
>>963708
He is still pretty close actually.

>>963712
It won't be easy. But getting the Nara on our side first would easier. Way I see it is Nara first means we have two kinda hard sells. If we do Akimichi first then we have a very hard sell and one free ROOT in or major drama.

This is all assuming the Yamanaka will join up. Negotiations will still be hard no matter what we do.
>>
>>963708
He's still close enough to his old self that having him in charge could be bad.

Better to keep him in the position where he can do the most good for Konoha.
>>
>>963713
Nori and Naruto should be under the Minato Clan by recognised parentage. Also, Their mother is still alive.
>>
>>963713
(They don't have a seat on the council and are super tiny)

The only clans that matter are the Hyuga, Uchia, Aburame and Akimichi (formerly Senju)
>>
>>963724
When dealing with the clans of the main characters, i think we need to go full "will of fire" in our arguments.

Because that's what they're all about in the end.
Also asuma sensei when, he was a badass.
>>
>>963681
Kurama. Originally one of the more prominent clans in Konohagakure due to their extreme Genjutsu Kekkei Genkai. In-canon they were basically forgotten by most people and they don't care about who's in charge much either. Helping with their problems could give us a few very useful members.
>>
Are we sure the Sarotobi's wouldn't support us? I mean Hiruzen did let Danzo do Root in the background for a long while
>>
>>963727
Every clan helps. But as Kogoto said, a swarm of the strong will be stronger than a swarm of weakling.

>>963731
I personally wouldn't even risk bringing ROOT up with any clan besides the Shika/In/Cho

>>963735
That clan has literally one person in it.
>>
>>963727
if that's true we should try to win over the Akimichi and Hyuga then
>>
>>963738
Hiruzen's dead and his son, Asuma never liked Danzo as we saw when we went to meet the third.

Asuma's probably the head now of the clan now and with him in place, not a chance of getting their approval now.
>>
>>963741
>That clan has literally one person in it.
You serious man? Go do some research before saying that. One of them was particularly crazy and powerful yes, but there are other members.
>>
>>963741

Neither of them seem particularly like the right choice- for a variety of reasons.

You begin to rub your temples.

A genin shouldn’t have to worry about these kind of things, right?

As the elevator shudders to a stop, you collect your key and exit.

It isn’t long before you spot Danzo, on the lower floor directing traffic.
As you make your way downward, he comes to greet you.

“Certainly back sooner than I expected- did everything go smoothly?” He asks- although his features don’t indicate any worry.

“Naturally.” You say with a wink.

“I convinced the old woman of my resolve- and she has pledged the support of the Aburame to the revival of ROOT.” You report.

“Excellent, Tsuki. Never doubt the persuasive powers of the Norihime, eh?” He says, smiling faintly. The news seems to brightened his spirits even further- maybe you could….

1. Tease him about his “history” with Kogoto.

2. Ask him about the event with Shisui.

3. Do neither, and simply enjoy his praise.
>>
Alright so Im just gonna put this out there because the way we seem to be going is straying from the way we probably should be.

Absolute power corrupts absolute. This has been proven time and time again throughout history. Danzo, while I agree his major sin was not acchieving his goal of stealing Shisui's eye, learned the lesson of becoming drunk with power. The main reason he most likely resigned himself to become our butler was because of penance, a chance to redeem himself.

It has taken 10 years for that penance to get to the point that society is BEGINNING to accept him again.

What I am trying to say is that we are going down the same path he did. We believe that the end goal can be justified with the means. Konoha must be protected from all enemies right? Both domestic and foreign.

>The only difference is when you become that enemy Konoha must be protected from.

Do not go mad with power. It is our duty to protect Konoha, but innocent death only begets innocent death. If we attempt to go too far with our "protection", and start hurting our own people, we will be no better than Orochimaru, which is exactly what that sick fucking snek wants.

We collected the bastards, we decided to let him determine when we were ready for them, and he's dead now.

The hokage is probably dead, the village is in ruins and we're just begging to be invaded.
This is not the time to be turning down powerful weapons that we've been waiting on since this quest began, especially when they're just sitting right there and all we have to do it pick them up.

Just ask danzo to go get them officially.
It's not stealing.

Yes they do.
We collected them after the previous owner died.
The hokage had us next in line to take them.

Even if it's not official, we have the closest thing to a title to them.

>>963905
The mission report proves we're the ones who recovered them.
>>
>>963894
We're proving it to the same people who have assigned people to keep random ninja from stealing the swords of legend. Probably Itachi's boys right now, if I were to guess.

Do you really think there's nobody tasked with making sure that these important blades are kept secure?

>>963894
Minato made the promise but Minato isn't here right now

whoever takes over might not honor that promise.

That doesn't mean we own them.

I think killing an S rank ninja, saving another jinchurichi, saving Minato's fucking family, and helping seal the 9 tails, which, by doing so, saved the whole fucking village, qualifies us to get our fucking swords. And like another anon said, anyone with any amount of power that knows are name and what we done are not going to say a damn thing about it.

Get fucked.
>>
If we are helping someone get elected and then they tell us they aren't giving us the swords. Just remind them whose father backed them up and is a major economic player in Konoha, and it would be a real shame if he had to look into other markets to make his income with Konoha being wrecked
>>
There is literally no problem with just going up and asking.
>>
>>963938
Except itachi, who would.
Like i just said, he'd know the story behind it and what our deal was.

And if we don't have any claim, then fucking NOBODY DOES
Why are you trying so goddamn hard not to get these swords?
What fucking reason could there possibly be for you not to want them this much?

“I certainly did hear something interesting, though~” You tease.

Danzo sighs.

“What did the old witch tell you? I can only imagine, especially if she took a shine to you….”

“Nothing much, Danzo-sensei~” You coo.

“We briefly discussed your… “history” together- did one young Danzo Shimura have an aversion to insects as well?”

Danzo’s face is impassive, emotionless.
Then he starts to laugh.

“Oh, Tsuki- the woman was a terror. Truly- she had the entire academy caught in her web- and like a Queen, all of us workers had our place. Even after we graduated, top of Lord Tobirama’s first class, her scheming seemed to have no limit.”

“And then?” You say, raising an eyebrow.

His laughter quiets, fading to naught but a wistful smile.

“I loved her, Tsuki- I loved that women more than sharks love blood. However, we grew older- and reality came knocking. The clans were more rigid, then- and the heiress of nobility does not marry for love. The Shimura- valued allies of the Senju, but nowhere approaching powerful- were in no place to offer anything. So, we went on to excel in our separate paths in life.” He explains.

“You… never married, right Danzo?” You ask.

“No wife, no children. The Shimura die with me- but it's better that way.” He says, only the slightest hint of sadness detectable in his voice.

“My father- and his father- died on the battlefield. For the longest time, I wanted nothing more than to follow in their footsteps- but I was a coward. I never fought a battle I didn’t believe I could win- I didn’t fight for her.”

“But, that’s ancient history, Tsuki- and hardly the important kind. Go get some rest- our work has only begun.”

“Of course. Goodnight, Danzo.” You say, giving the old man a hug.

“Goodnight, Tsuki.”

Morning… again.

You’ve managed to wake without Hinata coming to collect you- although you suspect she’ll arrive shortly for your morning ritual.

After your hospital visit, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish.

You could…

1. Focus on work- lay plans with Danzo, discussing ROOT’s future.

2. Meditate and speak with The Four. They’ve been rather patient, which you are thankful for.

3. Begin trying to learn one-handed seals. It will take a lot of time and effort- but would definitely be a valuable skill, even beyond your current circumstances.

4. Tackle Kaguya’s request. Although, you don’t know how long you’ll be out….

Strictly speaking, there's no reason you can't set up seals to summon a person, as I understand it. I always did wonder why that wasn't abused in-universe for purposes of transportation or something.
>>
>>964336
Sage mode takes enough chakra and chakra control to balance to use it, it doesn't directly burn any just by gathering and holding Nature Chakra. When Sage mode is actually achieved though, it gains us a new source of Chakra that just about boosts everything, and then create entirely new effects that were previously impossible to do without the Nature Chakra.
>>
>>964349
Both options (rabbits and beasts) have similar sized summon options.

For the beasts you can summon a smaller version of the big beast and the rabbits have a bunch of different dudes.

The Four Guardian Beasts have waited long enough for the appointment with you, you wager.

You do intend on making good on your agreement with Kaguya, as well- but this should be easy enough to handle first.

--------

After breakfast and a quick trip to the hospital for treatment and your medicine, you give a brief overview of your plans to Hinata.

“I plan to spend the day in contemplative meditation.” You explain.

She gives you a quizzical look.

“Meditation? Did you have a monk among your serving staff? You certainly don’t seem the type.”

You cough.

“I’ve been having some bad dreams lately- and I’ve come to understand that if go through some introspective meditation, it may alleviate them.” You fib.

“Oh, I see Tsuki-hime- you’re getting tired of me. I’ll just leave you to dress yourself in the mornings from now on.” She pouts playfully.

“In that case, I’ll send Danzo personally to request your assistance every morning. That’s a promise, Hinata Hyuga!” You decree, grinning widely.

In response, she gets a distressed look on her face.

“You win- enjoy your rest, you layabout. You aren’t getting out of going to see Fuu before she leaves, though- I’ll have her wake you up herself if you don’t believe me.” She says pointedly.

“Come now- Is my family name Uzumaki? I promise, I am actually going to meditate.” You huff.

“Alright, alright. We can go shopping some other time- I’m sure Father will be excited to give me more training exercises.” She laments.

As you walk back to the compound, the two of you share genuine laughter together.

Tsuki and Hina have more in common. Wealthy/Heiresses.

They've spent more time together and Hina seems to be more in line with Tsuki's way of thinking. (Might be due to less time spent around Naruto.)

I'm thinking the gap between Tsuki/Hina - Nori might get bigger. Nori's off on some adventure or another and she's got nine tails bullshit in her now so she may not come back as the same person.

With Tsunki's Scheming she's not going to be as innocent as she was before either.

Because Hinata and Tsuki are closer and they are the /u/boats ship.
>>
>>964546
Good point, but you act like thats a barrier that we cant overcome. While I understand that we are getting closer to Hinata than we are to Nori, you also forget something very intricate in every quest that happens, in all of history.

We are in control of the MC's actions.

They have a certain degree of self change and control, but at the end of the day we dictate which bridges to burn and which ones to build.

Don't write a character out of the story before we have a chance to bring them back.

Thats just bad writing.

Before settling down to contact the Four, you take a moment to arrange your bedding in such a way to support you- as to not fall over.

Taking a meditative position, you try to clear your mind.

With everything happening of late, it’s quite difficult- and several times you feel like you’re about to fall asleep.

Finally, though, you reach it- a calm, meditative state. Reaching within yourself, you try to call out to them- the Four Great Spirits.

---------------------------------

Genbu.

Byakko.

Suzaku.

Seiryuu.

---------------------------------

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKU-6rVTPCA

FATE’S CHILD HAS CALLED UPON US ONCE MORE. SHE HAS HEEDED OUR AGREEMENT, SUZAKU.

As if you had a reason to doubt, Genbu. Even one so inexperienced in the lore of the spirits could not ignore our call for long.

In times past, humans would jump at such an opportunity. Things seem to have changed…

Seiryuu, you old wyrm- our girl has had a rough time of it. Not every human can be expected to keep to your schedule.

Hmph.

Four distinct voices- powerful reverberations, echoing throughout your mind. You see only darkness, however.

TSUKI NORIHIME. WE, THE FOUR GUARDIAN SPIRITS OF THIS WORLD, HAVE LONG WAITED FOR YOUR EAR.

Maintain your clarity of focus, child, and we may speak to you through the waking world.

“And- you can hear me?” You try thinking- quite loudly. This entire situation is rather awkward, and you aren’t sure how to proceed.

Preferably at a conversational volume- Genbu is loud enough as it is. Regardless, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule of sleeping to speak with us.

“Sarcasm, from a spirit? Aren’t you supposed to be more reserved and divine?” You grumble.

Aren’t you supposed to be humble and less assumptive? Regardless, we’ve been wanting to speak with you for a while.

Your destiny in this world is unique, unbound. You will shape your world in many ways- or not at all.

CHILD OF BROKEN FATE, ADVERSITY AWAITS YOU. MORE SO THAN OTHERS, YOU SIT AMONG A DEN OF VIPERS, POISED TO STRIKE.

“Alright, I get it- the world is my oyster. But why do you feel the need to speak with me? I’ve never asked for your help.” You pout.

Such arrogance. Mayhaps not while in the waking world, but in your dreams, you called out to us.

So earnest a plea- it would’ve been rude not to answer.

As if it was mere moments ago-

CAST ADRIFT IN THE SEA OF KISMET
“I want to understand.”

”I want to understand.”

”I want to understand.”

’I WANT TO UNDERSTAND.”
Normally, a vision would suffice, not unlike the one you received. However, upon watching your story unfold….

You began to commune with her- the witch.

THE DEMON

She of those who would consume our world.
Through no fault of your own, naturally. They are insidious that way- but as soon as that trinket went ‘round your neck…

Our intervention was required. She cannot be trusted, Tsuki Norihime.

The heavens cannot permit her blasphemy. She should have been destroyed- but it was not our action to take.

OUR INACTION IS NOT TO BE REPEATED.
“Kaguya, you mean?” You clarify.

The Witch.

Heaven’s Usurper.

THE INVADER

The demonic, self-proclaimed “Mother of Chakra”- an Eater of Worlds.

So far she hasn't shown herself to be that monstrous at all, she's even kind of a sympathetic character in my eyes and i'm not even a moonfag. I think we should use our personality to shape her for the better like we did with Danzo and use her to accomplish our goals, and not the other way around. If at some point we determine she can't be trusted IC then we might burn that bridge, but for now i say we do our best to cooperate with her and make progress with her, this is a quest, and by no means does she have to take the same path she did in canon, especially with Tsuki's influence in play.

I agree. If our destiny reallly is unbound, if we really can shape the world, then I'd like to exert that influence by trying to redeem Kaguya and the rest of the rabbits.

The Four Beasts solutions seems to have been exile for all of them, and that's because they didn't have the luxury of killing her. I don't think they're inclined to give Kaguya another chance. We could try I suppose, unbound destiny, but...

Well, Kaguya just has a stronger connection and is much more interesting to read.

...Seriously, if a Four Beasts contract means more scene with a bunch of pain in the ass colors where we try to follow who's talking, fly me to the moon baby, I'm never coming back.
>>

>>964882
>It's literally "WAAAAAH!!! The terrible evil hoomans were mean to me!!!"

The sad thing is, even as a straw man argument, it's still more compelling than what the Four Beasts are selling. At least I can feel an emotional connection between Tsuki and Kaguya.

And yeah, it's his choice, but it's also clearly slowing him down.

>>964889
Indeed. It may be interesting to confront them on this.

Assuming they also aren't assholes who will exert pressure when it's clear we aren't going their way.

All well and good to tell the girl she has an unbound destiny, but let's be honest, you want her to use that freedom to make the choices you want her to make.

THE WHEEL OF FATE TURNS. THE WORLD EATER DESIRES HER FREEDOM

Among you, Men will toil surreptitiously to beckon the moon. They likely know not what they do.

Have you never considered that she has not asked for your assistance because she does not require it? She has already deceived you multiple times…

And yet, you now choose to visit her willingly. We are concerned, Fate’s Chosen Child. We spirits keep out of the affairs of mortals….

I would say that one of Tsuki's more important character traits is her desire to get all the relevant information there is before she tries to make a rational decision. She is rarely impulsive and is willing to rethink previous convictions when new information slaps her in the face.
Even if she ends up siding with Kaguya in the end she would still prefer to hear both sides of the story in as much detail as she can so as to make an informed decision.

“You call her a demon- a monster- a “Devourer of Worlds”. What exactly do you mean by that?” you question.

Kaguya Otsutsuki. One of several of species- one that long ago began to subsist themselves off of the fruit of the Tree of Life. Many such places exist- fewer, now. These trees are the source of life- and rarely, these sacred trees produce fruit. For mortal beings, this fruit imparts great power- and is the source of the chakra you humans are able to wield. However, the Otsutsuki were able to induce the creation of these fruits outside of the natural cycle- this abuse eventually drained their home planet of all life except for themselves. Like a plague of locusts, they spread throughout creation, searching for more trees- to gorge on the fruit that sustains them. Kaguya is one of these beings, Tsuki. A parasitic creature that would drain our planet of life to sate her own desires.

“She from another world? A creature that consumes the life essence of an entire planet to sustain themselves? If I’m being honest… Seiryuu- this all seems a little far fetched to me.” You question.

It doesn’t matter if you believe us or not- She has already consumed the fruit of the Tree of Life once before. As she will readily admit- it is the source of her powers. Why would one such as her come here if that was not her original intention?

“She consumed it to defend herself!” You exclaim.

She would consume the life energy of an entire planet just to defend herself? Sure her residual powers would suffice- especially against humans who could not even utilize chakra.

Suzaku seems intent on driving this point home.

Her reasons do not matter- and more importantly, what will she do when her power wanes? Those with such power seldom give it up willingly, Tsuki.

These spirits… don’t seem like they are lying. Although the story is very odd, certain points match up with what Kaguya explained- and even before that, what Dr. Kasugi had explained about the tree motifs found across the world in various ancient sites.

The Tree of Life existed- and it doesn’t now.

I like the way this political game is going.
We should begin to think about a strategic marriage. Yeah we're young, but the earlier we make our courting moves, the less we let chance decide.
Having vassals is one thing, having family ties is another. Also making the norihime clan more than a muggle nobility is important if we want to matter in the future of the village.

Very, very nice
>>
>>965020
I know there is Buddhism
>>
>>965029
Yeah? And there are clearly other planets. It's not like life is limited to one known planet.

So where I might eat, say, the fruits of a tree when I'm really hungry, apparently the aliens scale that up to planetary lifeforce. And to be fair, in this universe people are probably eating small fragments of the planet, it just doesn't care at that scale.

Honestly, the Four Beasts' main problem seems to be Kaguya's races consumes them too much, and forces the fruits to be made to the planet's detriment. We might be able to address this if we find a more sustainable growing cycle, so that Kaguya can subsist on naturally produced fruits instead of accelerating the process.
>>
>>965041
Thing is bud, she doesn't have to eat the fruit at all.

>>
>>965044

It is sustenance, Four Beasts say so.

>One of several of species- one that long ago began to subsist themselves off of the fruit of the Tree of Life

>>965047

Nothing has actualy said that eating the fruit slaughters worlds. In fact Kaguya eating the fruit of this world, and it still being around, seems proof that the world survives after bearing the fruit.

The problem is overtaxing the trees.

>However, the Otsutsuki were able to induce the creation of these fruits outside of the natural cycle- this abuse eventually drained their home planet of all life except for themselves. Like a plague of locusts, they spread throughout creation, searching for more trees- to gorge on the fruit that sustains them.

There's clearly a safe life cycle, but the species ate too much, taxed their planet too deeply. With a more careful feeding cycle, this might be averted.

No, the only thing it sustains are her immortality and her god like powers.

Even in the show it showed she could survive without eating it, which she did.
>>
>>965054
That remains to be seen, I sincerely doubt she'd want to give up immortality
>>
>>965056
Did you never finish Naruto or something? We meta know how this works and it isn't that.
>>
>>965060
I didn't actually, but even then I tend not to make assumptions when an author is going AU or expanding the lore of canon.

So when are you guys picking up tonari? Make him collect all those eyes lying around and get his tensaigan. A stellar and byakugan combo bloodline is op. Hell, make it tradition to exchange the eyes of the current and previous clan heads and we'll always have a tensaigan wielder possibly with stellar chakra.

Well hopefully next thread. We agreed we would

What's this 'we'? I didn't agree to shit.

Well first we need to talk to her about the claims the four beast made.
>>

That's for rabbits. I didn't see anything about Tonari.

Silly rabbits, eyes are for tricks.
>>
>>965204
Calm down, Hiashi. Eugenics leads to genetic diseases.
Speaking of Hiashi, you'd need the byakugan to get the Tenseigan, and the Hyugas don't like giving them, like, at all. Hence I support Hinata getting it instead, though one would need to figure out how to give someone Otsutsuki chakra to activate it. But that's all just my brand of dumb plans, just like all the others.

I was thinking about ways to convince reluctant heads to support (or at least tolerate) ROOT's revival, and I came up with an outline that might be workable.

We'll explain that Hiruzen (rest his soul) clearly saw the advantage of having ROOT during the trials of the Third Shinobi War, and while Minato was right to shut down the old iteration of ROOT for having lost its way, Konoha now has powerful enemies at its borders and no Hokage to lead it. Now, more than ever, we need to be willing to press every advantage we can to survive with organizations like the Akatsuki targeting Konoha. ROOT has learned from its mistakes of the past (and here we can promise changes from the old ROOT)

The changes are probably where the bulk of our favor with opposed heads will come from, so this is something we should discuss with Danzo and give a lot of thought.

If it's dojutsu we're looking for, we could just find this little fuck to complete our revenge against Raiga. They have some similaritys to both Byakkugan and Sharingan apparently.
