Welcome back, space pirates, to the seventieth installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. Seventy threads. It boggles the mind! At any rate, I'm the man known as Wong, and today you are the legendary Pirate Admiral Roarke Susan Starwind of the Iron Kestrels.

Last time, Keith got some measure of comeuppance, it turned out that there are far more Fleurs than the galaxy really needs, and Lieutenant Wedge (following a brisk few rounds in the sims) was preparing to be utterly showered with fruit salad at a long and boring awards ceremony with Fairchild hovering nearby to hoover up as much credit as possible. Thank goodness you aren't him right now.

There's not really any such thing as morning in space, but it's an early one by your standards. At least you have your morning coffee. Miles is out looking for juicy targets to raid, forcing you to spend more time doing actual productive work until she gets back, and you've just completed a tour of Suleimans 2, 3, and 4. You can't help feeling like they were a little more excited to see Fatima than you, but the fact that you're something of a hero to anyone who had a good reason to want to see a Paladin lose or the Green Skulls die in the cold void of space seemed to help. You had fun, in a low-key kind of way you're not used to. You sat down and spent an hour or two talking to a little boy about what it's like flying a Harpy compared to a Bluegill, you sparred with the strongest man on Suleiman 3 and won handily, but most importantly...you found a solution to your orphan problem. Namely, a man Richard put you in touch with, one Maxwell Hammer. He runs an orphanage on Suleiman 4, and you're hoping he can give you some insight into dealing with semi-feral children.

Right now, though, you're in one of the Rhinehawk's lounges, reviewing a report of a problem in the targeting system of one of the CIWS turrets. Apparently it's off by 0.6 degrees, “It's not a problem, but next time bring it to my attention immediately.” You smile, and sign off on the work order, authorizing your technicians to buy any replacement parts they need next time you're on Auditorium or California Station.

“Zzzzphhw.” Clemmy chimes in, asleep and resting on the couch beside you with her head on your lap.

JNN is on, one of the somewhat interchangeable pretty blondes they employ chattering her way through a story, “...Recent terrorist attacks on Europa have been conclusively linked to Avalon, although the rebel nation still has yet to take credit for the dozen cowardly bombings at primary Europan colonies. The locations seem to have been targets of opportunity, shuttleports, civilian residences, museums, and factories have all been attacked. The perpetrators remain at large.”

As the technician leaves with the work order, the new kid from SOUL walks in, sipping coffee from a space-compatible thermos. He carries himself well, and even though he doesn't have the same fighting edge he did the first time you met, his combat performance on 16-Psyche impressed you. Apparently Miles and Clemmy both have taken a shine to him, “Good morning, Caesar.”

He brings his feet sharply together, and flashes a perfect parade-ground salute, “Good morning Admiral, sir! Heinrich Merrow reporting for duty!” He speaks a little too fast, stumbling over his words slightly.

You frantically gesture for him to keep his voice down, indicating the girl nestled against you. He winces and covers his mouth, then smiles awkwardly, adjusting his glasses, “I'll never get over seeing her like that.” He nods at Clemmy.

“Like what?” You ask quietly, as the blonde woman stirs, her head resting against your thighs.

The kid smiles, “W-well, normal, I guess. Happy. It's kind of funny, back on the ships I used to serve on everyone was so scared of her. I was too, at first, she beat me up the first time we met.”

You raise one eyebrow, “She almost did that to me too. I think that just means she likes you.”

Caesar adjusts his glasses again, “It's a nice sentiment, sir, but her personnel file disagrees. She's beaten up even more UJCIDF personnel than you have. Still, I got to see her when she was happy more than most people, I guess because she was talking about you. I don't think I ever really thanked you for that.”

“Roarkey, wait up~! I can't run very well in this dress~” Clemmy mutters to herself, practically purring from her dreams, “We won't be late to the ball if we take the shortcut~”

“You don't have to, just knowing she had a friend is enough.” You demur, idly petting her hair, "I should be thanking you for that instead."

“...Sources from the UJCIDF's intelligence division reveal that the materials for these bombs likely came from the recent Avalonian raid on the base at 10-Cleo. Survivors reveal that at least two Pangasius-class cruisers were stolen, along with a trio of transports and all weapons aboard. Explosion patterns were consistent with what would be expected from repurposed mecha-based rocket platforms that would have been stored aboard these vessels...” The news drones on, “Officials suspect that Avalonian agents infiltrated Europa individually, and urge Jovian citizens to be on guard and report any suspicious behavior.” The news drones on.

Clemmy nuzzles cutely against your leg, “Ah~ Come back here Dio, you little scamp, we have to comb your hair before papa gets home~” She mutters, still talking in her sleep.

“Hey, Caesar, you know you don't have to fly on any of our raids, right? I know you're only here to get your girlfriend back, and I respect that.” You sip your coffee.

The kid shakes his head, “No, I'll pull my weight. Flying's the only thing I'm good at, and I want to make myself useful.”

so, what do suleiman 2 3 and 4 do any ways? because even one place dedicated to only farming would be just the best of things.
>>
>>957259
>"Hmmm... So, how is karen doing with the "Kaiserswordfish"? Are you really okay with this name?"

Also, i don't believe that Avalon would do that, doesn't really seem like their style... And they just captured 5 ships full of weapons with no difficulties or damage on them? This looks a lot more like Fairchild simply send people to do that in her name.
>>
>>957290
she does need a black ops unit.
probably going to send them to be either the new green skulls or raid our ships
>>
>>957297
I wonder how a UJCIDF "Avalon Parody" looks like... What if they are worse than our weeaboos? And use "Neon-Knights" or something?
>>
>>957285
Well suleiman 1 was a mining production colony. Chances are there are some factories, farms, and the like there as well.
>>957290
Honestly, while Fairchild is a possibility, I think this is a anything goes scenario. A new budding pirate band, SOUL, or Avalon using whatever they can grab for their fleet. They do have a ton of new pilots who need new machines that aren't harpies.
>>
>>957312
fairchild will probably fill it with a bunch of sickos and jesus wannabes
>>957319
of course it could just be something different, like avalon does kinda need to know how to space instead of planet. gravity has weighed down there souls
>>
>>957319
Man, Pirates have no reason to just bomb thing away, pirates focus on robbing, not destroying things... And Exploding museums? Seriously? Do this look like something Avalon would do?
Why would the "honorable chivalry" guys would even consider to pratice terrorism against museums and civilians?

Its so obviously Fairchild... Unless there is someone even worse at this game than her.
>>
>>957339
Well.. yeah. Pirates can be extremists as well ya know. Somali and the like. There is also the fact that they could be fore particular reasons. Supplies, resources, data, maybe some relics or ancient machines they can use. The Duke has no home port right now and they have an influx of supporters. They need food and supplies badly and it's not going to get easier.
>>
He looks nervous, as if he has something more to say, so you wait him out. It pays off, “You're still a lot more normal than I expected in person. None of my friends would believe me if I told them you look rumpled in the mornings and chug coffee every time you get through a warp gate.”

You shrug, “I'm just a man, I don't pretend to be anything else.”

“This is a list of the victims, along with holos of them from when they were still alive. Now, some experts believe that the killings are random, but Professor Andrew Northberg of the UJCIDF Military Academy, Colony 17, and frequent contributor to JNN Morning Sunshine, has penned a truly scathing editorial on the subject. Although the language is a bit...” The newsgirl coughs demurely, “...colorful, he raises the point that the families of six brave Bluegill veterans, heroes who died bravely fighting the minions of Avalon on 16-Psyche, perished in the blasts and believes they were deliberately targeted to have a demoralizing effect on the Jovian citizenry.” She looks seriously at the camera, “Truly, General Fairchild's words were apt when she called Avalon 'unprecedented in their devotion to terrorist tactics'. According to survivors of the Cleo base, they are even willing to arm children...CHILDREN...to fight for them!" Her voice goes from mildly heated but still professional to passionately strident, "Too bad for them, Jovian citizens are unprecedented in grit and the rugged drive to succeed. If any of them are listening to this broadcast, know this. We will never stop fighting you. We will never bow to your Lady. No matter how many of our innocent civilians you attack, we will resist you!”

A crewwoman in a blue headscarf and large shades...you assume from the scarf that she's one of your Martian recruits, stares up at the screen, her coffee forgotten in her hand, “Zey would not!” She scoffs abruptly, her accent coming through quite strongly. She remembers her coffee, throwing it down and stomping her foot with zeal, “Dishonorable! Barbarique! Savage! Le Duc would NOT!” Her thermos floats downward in the zero-gravity environment of space, and bumps off the edge of the counter at an angle, wobbling end over end as it flies towards you.

Damn it, you thought you left her on Auditorium!

“Avalonian spy!” Caesar calls out, reaching for the shortsword on his belt.

The Butcher's eyes open a fraction.

Soo how long do we think we got before Karen starts raging over the Avalonians using a fake Black Ogre?
>>
>>957339
dude there is literally space hitler(the one zabi we've yet to see) and we don't even know were the fuck gendo went if he didn't fuck up and die.
>>
>>957356
oh holy shit this is fucking hilarious
>>
>>957356
Great timing Lori

>>957339
You know nothing about pirates. Roarke is by far atypical for a pirate. They usually just smash everything, kill people, and steal everything not nailed down. And stop spending every minute shilling for Avalon they aren't some perfect knights who didn do nuttin.
>>
>>957356
Nevermind, coverup operation designed to silence families while looking like the good guys. Bloody hell, she even used missiles.
>>
>>957290

It's actually the K-Swordfish, and the K actually stands for Karen. She thinks it's particularly clever because it's also a valid shortening of "King Swordfish", its title from the War.
>>
>>957373
don't forget the rape!
>>
>>957377
that's just great. i love it.
>>
>>957373
I've never said they were perfect, it just don't look like their style of doing things.
>>957355
Exploding things and not robbing anything or trying to get money with scare tactic sounds very strange for pirates, they are literally just wasting ammo on random people.
>>
>>957285

Predominantly asteroid mining, but they also farm and have minor mech-production capabilities that will get better over time.
>>
>>957388
especially if we give them some good stuff to help.
>>
>>957386
Every single time Avalon ever does anything you defend them despite whatever happens and try and get everyone to play nice with them
>>
>>957386
>it just don't look like their style of doing things
Maybe not the knights, but we do know that Avalon is willing to be underhanded instead of chivalrous 100%, as demonstrated by the catgirl infiltration of the Cicero.
>>
>>957388
Neat. Are they at a stage in their industrial and economic development where more is produced by them than is put into them, or are they still largely foundling colonies?
>>
>>957357
Soon enough, pretty sure we know where they got the specs for it though
>>
>>957373

This statement is hilarious to me because I know exactly how much nuttin Avalon dindu. I assure you, both sides have done some real shit. Some real shit.
>>
>>957393
>>957394
he's not entirely long though

BUT the actual avalon leader there wanted to smack her in the face and then probably kill her.
>>
>>957356
Yup, that's Bethany's team alright. She's apparently Fairchild's hidden trump and cleanup crew after SOUL B's fuckups.
>>
>>957406
we just haven't seen avolon do any bad things yet. i don't think they haven't, it's just that we've seen worse with the jovians
>>
>>957407
He wasn't the leader, another Avalonian organized the whole thing, he's just a pawn like how Amos is
>>
>>957426
I MEANT the other one i forget the name of

he just wanted to scold her, probably not give any milk for a week or something
>>
>>957184
>>957259
>terrorists

Well, now we know how Fairchild went about silencing those families. This might be the most legitimately angry I've been in this quest. Probably using those ships to build up the black section of SOUL, as well.

When do we gut her, again?
>>
>>957403

They were set up several decades ago by Fatima's father, who was aggrieved by the general working conditions on some of his competitors' colonies and wanted to make his mines into actual thriving communities. He poured a vast sum of his fortune into it, but they pay off now. The Sheikh was an extremely well-liked man.
>>
>>957436
To be fair, that might be a legit Avalonian raid used as a cover.
>>
>>957426
I was gonna say thunder this is either Fairchild or Avalon But i highly fucking doubt it was the Avalons in system since they don't have the resources to do it, they have what 3 ships possibly less. and this really sounds like fairchild trying to hide evidence of naomi being green and her nieces fuckup.
>>

You shake your head, planning to catch the thermos when it gets close enough, “No, no she isn't.” You explain. Although she was supposed to stay on Auditorium. In fact, you're sure you left her on Auditorium.

The mug floats closer, almost within arm's reach...and in a blur of black, Clemmy's belt-sword whips through it, cutting it in half. Hot coffee splashes the former Lieutenant's arm, face, and chest. She shrieks, awakened fully from her dreams by rage and pain. Before you can process what just happened, she's out of your lap and in a fighting stance. Loriette, too, pulls out a rather standard monosword of curved Martian make, not her usual one.

“You...you little bitch...” Clemmy's shoulders shake with rage, “You're dead now. Even if you hadn't tried to sneak on board my lovely fiance's ship to escape. Even if you hadn't stolen a weapon. Even if you hadn't caused trouble when Roarke and I are being lovey-dovey! Even, even, EVEN EVEN EVEN IF YOU HADN'T THROWN HOT COFFEE ON ME I'D STILL KILL YOU! YOU INTERRUPTED MY DREAM! ONCE THAT HAPPENS, YOU CAN'T EVER FIND IT AGAIN!” Her eyes blaze, the tip of her sword gleaming as the shoves Caesar aside with her free hand, “You're stealing my happiness! Stealing it!” She looks from you to Caesar, then snarls anew at Loriette, “AND MY DARLING AND MY STUDENT WERE BONDING! HOW DARE YOU SPOIL THAT PRECIOUS MOMENT!?”

Loriette isn't deterred in the slightest, pointing her sword at Clemmy, “NON! You shall NOT shout your foul imprecations at me today! How dare you, Gas Knight!? How dare your news lie most filthily about le Duc!? Even though he is a Rothschild, he is a Paladin of Avalon! He is a hero! Even where he may not be trusted in le internal politics of Avalon for le views he has, never would he condone le slaughter of peasants for no gain! Dog of Jupiter, answer for the crimes of your people, or in the name of the Lady I shall stop being the good girl for mon Rowarc and smite you for your perfidy!”

>[Grab Loriette]
>[Grab Clemmy]
>[Grab them both, with a decreased chance of success]
>[Let them fight it out]
>[Try verbal conflict resolution skills instead]
>>
>>957442
Neat, this no doubt contributes to Fatima's popularity.
>>
>>957393
Nah, this time i was just trying to bet on Fairchild to see if i was right before it was revealed.

And i just dislike the jovians more, i don't think that Avalon is perfect, but they are still more "honorable" than the jovians(even in a retarded way sometimes).

For me, there is no one worth of fully-defending here, not even Roarke.
There are no Heroes here, only criminals of different styles.
... But thats is pretty normal for humanity.

>>957394
I was talking about the Knights and such this time, as they are the only "faction" inside this system... There could be dissidents, but that is not much probable.
>>957426
>>957435
There was a Count who organized the infiltration plan, probably because "Jovians have no honor so we shouldn't play nice with them".

But seriously, as Wong said in >>957406
Everyone here is EVIL, there is good people in both sides, and bad people too, but if you look at the big picture, you will have reasons for attacking anybody.

...Including Roarke, as he litteraly robs pacific random people just for being near him.
>(Fatima dindu nuttin)
>>
>>957442
how much money would we to put a star ship drydock on one of those anyways? do we have enough or do we need to steal one?
>>
>>957448
Possible, but I doubt it. Fairchild had much more to gain by ensuring those families died. But I've just come to expect nothing but war crimes from her, so maybe it's actually legit.
>>
>>957452
She admited that was going to kill the bluegill veterans families last session, man, it is Fairchild, CONFIRMED.
>>
>>957454
As much as they should fight it out and get it over with, it should really not be happening when clammy has a weapon. Any weapon. So

>>
>>957452
Its is Fairchild no doubt, what I'm complaining about is how Brazil hand waves everything they do and just defends everything about them
>>
>>957463
No, I mean that the Avalonians actually stole the stuff, but that Fairchild used explosives for a separate source and just blamed it on the legit Avalonians.
>>
>>957466

It is Brazil dude no offense brazil i like ya but your a bit daft,
>>
>>957455

And Roarke's. The Martian media had no idea how to spin this and let it essentially speak for itself. The fact that Roarke personally came to Mars, beat Rashad to a pulp, handed him over to the authorities, then killed him when he escaped and pursued, plays very, very well among your Average Amirs. Roarke still isn't a Muslim and is still a space pirate, so it's not as if the Martians are building a palace for him or anything, but they wouldn't treat him like a common criminal. He's even more popular on the Suleiman colonies, which have Jovian, Martian, and Belt-born workers and thus him being an Ionian non-Muslim is even less of a big deal.
>>
>>957495

>>
Lori for Space-Christ's sake get a hold on your impotent rage. At least when Roarke gets rip-shit mad he does something about it. The very least you should control your frothing anger and not let it break your cover like a complete amateur.

Clemmy gets a pass for being legitimately fucking psycho. Also because hugs will calm her down.

Lori really does need some constructive criticism on why yelling at literally everything someone says she doesn't agree with if pants-on-head retarded.
>>
>>957507
seriously tough if we can get marsian support we can make the martian our allies in independence.
also what does there leader look like any ways?
>>
>>957477

You would get to roll once the decision is reached. It's effectively a Pin maneuver aimed at the sword-arm. Choose Clemmy, you spend two actions trying to grab her arm. Choose Loriette, you spend two actions trying to grab her. Choose both, you get one roll per girl.

Alright, Brazil, 6th version here. Honestly, I dunno how you got 84.8 CP on frame, armor, and options when I always get around 76-78 CP when I was adding up myself, but apparently, you know how to add better than I do.

But here it is. Lowered some servos and took out beam pistols for some melee weapons. The beam pistols were meant to be for close quarters, but I see that the range wouldn't be enough.

Here it is. http://pastebin.com/T7H6Us9r
>>
>>957454
>>[Try verbal conflict resolution skills instead]
Right then, using logical and a show of restraint before handling things. First off, the news likely does not have the whole situation. Propaganda is a good tool and it could just as well be extremists or some idiot who decided to prove a point. Either way, Lori, you should know better than to sneak onto someone's ship, especially with recent events. Clemmy, I heard a bit of your dream. No worries, we'll make it true soon enough. Now let's calm down and talk like adults in front of the teenager.
Then give Clemmy some head pats and help clean her off.
>>
>>957523

How patient are you and/or do you have a gate large enough for a fully assembled colony?
>>
>>957537
We can't be easy on Clemmy and hard on Lori here. We have to be fair and unbiased in what we say.
>>
>>957534
sadly space madness has infected them
more in clemmys case though
at least rourke's is being obsessed with punching people
and karens with being a mecha maniac
>>
>>957478
>>957505
Because we mostly see things from a jovian perspective of "FILTHY GREENMAN LOVERS REEEEEEEE" and tend to always assume moral superiority because of this.
But i seriously disagree.
Because i think that the jovians are equally bad if not worse than the Avalonians, even if i don't really like Avalon.

And if you are going to accuse me of being daft for pointing the obvious after Fairchild have explictly pointed that she would kill the families of the guys involved in the Naomi incident.. Please point other episodes where i acted in a stupid manner and then we can begin discussing from that.
>>
>>957528
Hmm.. pins are +1s, 2 luck for each should make them safe bets with our current hand to hand. If we are positioned right, might given them penalties and make parrying a bit easier.

>>957543
yes, while not mensching how it would make us sad because that's just kinda wierd with lori here she's not a (official) member of the harem.

>>
>>957534
>>957546

I'd say it also comes at least partially from being ace pilots. Sometimes the rivalries are friendly, sometimes you're on opposites sides of a war trying to protect your husbando from a hussy who will clearly break his heart and sell him out to her vile and sinister superiors.
>>
>>957550
yes, but at least those things can be blamed on our upbringing and not on literal insanity.

Again, the ATM is weird with that. Page 13 and 14 of the ATM state that Interservo Melee Links are 4 CP if you are going to Cross-Link them and if you're not, you spend 3.

But I'll defer to you.
>>
>>957568

Pilots, even in our modern Air Force, have tremendous egos and a weakness for the kind of complexes that develop when you're piloting a billion-dollar ultrafast death machine. Now imagine how that could potentially be even worse in a mech.

Now remember that both of these women are the best of the best of the best for their respective teams, and both of them have significant traumas in their past.

As for space madness, both. It does actually exist, caused by isolation and the unbalancing effects of space's infinite, directionless emptiness, and as a matter of fact Clemmy does (or did) have it. Loriette doesn't have that, but what she DOES have is a social system that tells her Clemmy is her natural and social inferior and shouldn't address her without bowing and calling her "your grace". On Avalon it would be Roarke's duty to punish Clemmy for her rudeness to a visiting Countess, by the way, Lori had to specifically ask to find out that, yes, she could challenge Roarke's wives to duels because they're considered full-people and not serfs.
>>
>>957617
Oh, I think I get why it's 6 CP for Interservo Melee.

2 for Interservo Link + 4 for Melee. At least, that's my understanding now after reading it a bit more.
>>
>>957621
maby we should mention that pretty much every one here and not on avalon is king of there own seperate shit mountain
>>
>>957578

It's in the ATM, or it should be.
>>
>>957633

If she didn't know that by now she wouldn't have drawn her sword, and would have just demanded you do something to restrain Clemmy. Dueling peasants is beneath the dignity of a Paladin.

Yes, I'm letting you use your Seduction score instead of Fast Talk & Persuasion, but that's because you're dealing with two women that had natural 10 Seduction rolls hit them the first time they met Roarke.

With the expenditure of four luck, you can make them stop and listen for long enough to get a quick point across.

>Look I'm completely sick of this shit. Clemmy stop antagonizing her. Lori stop sneaking on my ship and taking fault with everyone hating on your faction. So your both getting punished, Lori your getting sent back to auditorium and staying their. Clemmy, no more sleeping together for the next week.
Time to be stern they won't understand any other way
>>
>>957710
Right then. First order of business: 1, it's very early in the morning for honor matches and hot coffee does not help. Grab some cloth and help clean Clemmy off. Get some ice or something to ease the burn too. 2; As is, the media is going to be dishonest for the most part, but the fact they left with two big ships and a load of weapons is something to think about. Could grab them for answers and loot once we have a lead. Either way, Showing up on the ship without permission after what has happened recently is poor form lori, I would like to hear an explanation for it. Finally, we heard some of your dreams Clemmy. May take a bit but we can see what we can do about that Ball and a certain.. Dio was it?
>>
>>957732
Should also maybe mention that the coffee was an accident. Lori didn't throw it at Clemmy. Clemmy cut the thermos in half in her sleep. Which is pretty impressive. I agree they should be put on time out though.
>>
>>957732
Yesh, that is way too tough considering what happened. As is, I want to hear the why for it and with how close Clemmy is to us, that is torturous. We need to be stern yes, but not like that and it will not help the situation because they will just blame one another.
>>
>>957758
We've tried being nice and patient and this keeps happening. We even warned Clemmy about punishing her if she did this again. You have to be stern if you want to correct a problem

If we were there, we should point out that we were there. And make Lori think who seems the more trustworthy of accounts: us or the piece of news that just came in to shit on people. Clemmy's acting like it's the end of the world when it isn't: there'll be more chances, and so remind her of that.
>>
>>957763
There is stern and then there is jumping straight to the punishment. Clemmy was just woken up after hearing Avalonian spy and getting hot coffee sprayed on her. Yes she is going to be bloody pissed ESPECIALLY AFTER WE FACED AN ASSASSIN. Normal circumstances if that WAS a spy, this would be good. Problem is she needs to calm down. If we push sternly from the start all it will do is make things worse. We can be stern and understanding of the situation since this is indeed an accident.
Lori we need an explanation from because it makes sense that we should know why and just pushing her away won't work because we have no information so there may actually be a reason for it.
Either way we need to explain things to Caesar because this is going to get complicated no matter what.
>>
>>957784
This isn't the first time Clemmy has fought with the other girls. And even sure this was an accident but that doesn't excuse the way she's acting. We said last time we would punish her and we have to stick by our word
>>
>>957732
Slight Tweak.
>Enough! Lori, you're supposed to be a guest at the Auditorium. Not sneaking aboard a warship. If you wish to continue being treated like one, you should start respecting my wishes. Clemmy, you aren't off the hook either. You know who she is, that doesn't mean you can lob her head off.
>Since you aren't returning my respect, Lori, you'll be confined in the brig until we return to the Auditorium. Clemmy, you'll be her guard since you don't trust me enough to watch over her.
>>
>>957796
Except Lori is not one of ours. She might be in the future but she is not right now. She is a prisoner, one whom can very well help get naomi back so her safety is important. As for attitude, get coffee spilt on you and awaken by something you aren't fond of while enjoying your dream and try to be calm and collected. Bloody hell, I have seen people curse and swear bloody vengence because I wake them a half hour early. The fact she isn't gutting her is a miracle.

No, with this you would be giving a prize to Clemmy for overeacting after slicing coffe to her own face.

Confine Lori to a room for the time being and promise her that you will give her a stern talking to for being childish to the point of screaming at a tv and acting shady after we trusted her to be able to walk freely through auditorium.
>>
>>957827
Probably should just split them up in separate places until they cool down. And make sure they stay there.
>>
>>957827
Tweak. That means she's only a guard and staying away frm Roarke. Although if you can think of a Shetland duty for her, it be even better. And we need to find a way for the harem to accept Lori.

“ENOUGH!” Your voice rattles even your own eardrums. Caesar nearly drops his short blade, Clemmy pauses and gives you a very hurt look. Loriette looks indignant, as if you've broken some rule of Avalonian etiquette. Too bad. Your ship, your rules.

“Roarke! She spilled-” Clemmy starts, pointing at the coffee dripping from her face.

“AN ACCIDENT!” You slam your fist down on the arm of the couch, tensing the muscles in your calves and lifting yourself to your feet.

“They have shamed-” Loriette tries to cut in, pointing angrily at the holoscreen, which has transferred to a view of some tremendous stadium packed full of people. A group of Jovian officers are gathered before a dais with a podium, General Fairchild giving a speech. It mostly seems to be about the glorious fighting prowess of Jovian pilots.

“THE NEWS CAN BE WRONG!” You admit, “Don't tell Gretchen that, but the people in charge put in the messages they want, when they want. Even if someone else did it, I'm sure they would blame Avalon.”

“No they wo-” Clemmy protests.

“YES, THEY WOULD!” You shout, “It happened to me, remember?” You rub your eyes, moving between the two duelists, “It's too early for this.”

“...And so, it is my honor to present you with the hero of this hour, a man who I am proud to call my most prized pupil, the example which all other SOUL pilots should strive to live by...” General Fairchild looks like she's having a wonderful morning, by contrast. She's full of energy and can-do spirit. It makes you sick.

“Clemmy, are you alright?” You stand up, examining her, “It doesn't look like you were burned, just taken by surprise.” You smile despite your annoyance.

“I'm pretty tough, but still, she threw that at me! What would you do if someone threw their drink at you?” She pouts.

“Mmh.” You have to admit, you've punched more than one cocky California Station pirate or bravo for spilling things on your leather jacket, “I wouldn't stab them with a monosword. Put that back. You too, Lori. I was watching the whole time, it was an accident, she was trying to be dramatic and it bounced and came at you from a completely different angle.” You shake your head, “I don't care if you fight with foam blades, wooden ones, or even stun batons, but no live steel. Don't let this happen again. Lori, get some damp dispose-o-towels and wipe her off.

“Non! Tis menial!” Loriette huffs.

“No way! I don't want her touching me! She's gross and probably has spores!” Clemmy recoils.

“It wasn't a request. Now, please. Otherwise you're banished to Auditorium, and you're banished to the couch.” You glare from Loriette to Clemmy. With mutual sighs and exchanged glowers, they comply.

Caesar is looking at you as though you've gone insane. You enlighten him, “Caesar, this is Countess Loriette Marie le Kennedy of Avalon, Paladin and pilot of the Anseis. She's charming once you get to know her.”

“Oui.” She smiles, “Pardon moi. I am most embarrassed. But surely Caesar is not the fullness of your name, non? What is it really, young man?” She curtsies, fetching some dispose-o-towels to wipe the coffee off Clemmy with.

“I'm going to smell like coffee all day.” Clemmy complains, Loriette ignores it.

Caesar stares at Loriette as though he'd just been introduced to a giant praying mantis. “Ah...R-Roarke, there's a Paladin right there. You're just letting her walk around free. A Paladin.” He scratches his forehead, “Sir, with all due respect, you're not even wearing power armor.”

You shrug, “Do I need it?”

The kid looks gratifyingly awestruck. You meant it seriously, but he seems to have interpreted it as a deliberate one-liner.

Loriette puffs up with smug satisfaction, putting a hand over her mouth, “Ohohoho.” She giggles, “Rowarc, tres adorable, I am le savage beast to these Gas Knights.”

“Roarke, if I use my fists, it's fine, right?” Clemmy looks pleadingly at you.

“If you two want to box later, go right ahead, but no brawls in the lounge.” You negate this before it even starts. With the volume of the room dialed down, you notice what's going on on the holoscreen. That really is a huge crowd Fairchild is addressing, and they don't look like Martians but that's clearly a planetary sky behind her.

“...And so, with joy in our hearts, we celebrate this distinguished reform of our SOUL project by celebrating those whose achievements have made our successes on this world possible.” You remember what Gretchen told you about a second downed Paladin, and groan inwardly.

“So, what did you say your name was? I am sorry, but I cannot call such a nice boy by the name of an ancient tyrant. It is too funny, to picture you with le laurel crown and toga, non? Ohohoho!” Loriette cheerfully addresses the young ex-Ensign.

Well considering the boxer frame has blades in the feet, and the pack could turn into a ridable weapon, it's not completely fisticuffs. That aside, the standard Huckebein and all that come later use things like graviton rifles, bit weapons, and beam sabers. Their main weapon is the Black Hole Cannon. It's Banpresto's version of the gundam.. sorta.

“Lieutenant Amos Wedge, please step forward.” Fairchild looks triumphant, “Where to start? I first met Amos at the Academy when the first batch of graduate SOUL pilots was being selected. Immediately, I knew that his extreme talent for war was needed on the battlefield, so I ensured that his first assignment would be where he could do the most good, he...” She keeps talking.

“Hey, wait, I know that guy!” Caesar grins and points, “That's Amos, he's a friend of mine! That's who we're all supposed to be looking up to!? That goofball!” He bursts out laughing, “He's a great pilot, but he's never been...well, he's not the sort of person you'd expect the General to be interested in. He's a bit too ordinary for the posters. What's he done?”

“Shot down a Paladin, I heard.” You remark, crossing your arms.

Loriette stares at you in shock.

Caesar whistles, “I guess I was wrong. Yeah, we were supposed to have some kind of briefing about an incident involving a Pumpkinseed II pilot on Qu'lir, I bet it had to do with this. Look at all of those medals she's giving him! The Silver Fasces for exceptional squad leadership, Sunburst for surviving having his mech destroyed, that's the Strix for...the Strix is only given to stealth commandos, normally, I've never heard of a pilot with the Strix. First-Class Flame of Indomitability...and that's the Titanium Medal for Valor. Wow. Amos 'skips classes to go fishing' Wedge with the Titanium, I don't believe it.”

“Yeehaw! Go Lieutenant Wedge! You're a credit to Jupiter!” Clemmy cheers.

“It is thanks to the valor of these brave paragons of the UJCIDF and Martian Holy Militia that the Berenger will no longer haunt the skies of Qu'lir. Let us mourn our fallen, including the heroic Scimitar pilots who sacrificed their lives to slow the vicious Avalonian Duchess piloting this monstrosity down, but we must also look towards the future...” Fairchild just doesn't stop once she has the chance to really hog the spotlight.

You hear a muffled sound from Lorie. Her lower lip is quivering slightly, and her hair hangs in front of her eyes, “E-excuse me, please. Un moment, Rowarc. I just...I mean...I need...m-more towels, oui! We are out of them!” She pushes the full box she's holding into Clemmy's hands, pushes past you, and rushes out of the room.

You wait a moment, watching her go, then turn to the others, "I'll be back."

Clemmy smiles a little, and nods, "Go do what you have to do."

You follow after Loriette, the sound of her boots echoing off the hallway of the Rhinehawk. You find her huddled in a corner with her head in her arms, crying openly.

You sit down beside her, and put your arm around her shoulders.

She sniffles, throws her arms around you, and starts sobbing into your shoulder.

"Lori, it's alright. She survived, I saw video of it." You try to reassure her.

It doesn't take. She shakes her head violently, tossing her drills about, "For how long?" She looks up at you, "Can you tell me, tell me truly, zat they will not execute her for what she has done?"

You can't, remembering Fairchild's promise to bring a cross to Auditorium and hang Loriette from it live on JNN.

Loriette seems to see it, her tone heartbreakingly sad. Normally, it would be a little maudlim, but then again she is most definitely a stranger alone in a strange land, "We are Paladins, if we must die, we must die...but I never thought it would be her. Oh Rowarc, for me to fall was a mark of mon youth and...and mon foolishness, but Duchess Carnegie? If even she can lose, then...then maybe we can't win afterall. Oh Rowarc, is this how our valor is rewarded?"

"There's no such thing as a bloodless war." You tell her, "Inevitably, the technological gap was going to narrow, and sometimes pilots just get lucky. What happened to Berenger could happen to anyone, even me."

"Non!" She insists, "True or false, I would not let it happen! I won't! I'll never let you be hurt, Rowarc." She looks up at you and smiles tremulously, her makeup smeared with tears. She reaches up, and runs her fingertips along your jaw, back behind your ear, "Zat is the only promise this foolish girl can make to you."

You smile down at her, and hug her tight, "Was the Duchess a friend of yours?"

She shakes her head a little, tossing her drills around, "Le Duchess Maria Carnegie is my teacher. Was my teacher. She knew more about the Lady and the Paladins than anyone. She lived before the Revolution, even before le War, and traveled the stars. She taught me and my despicable cousin everything we knew about piloting, and more, how to be noblewomen, how to be Paladins, how to be one with our striders."

Also, i agree with you in this, it could have to do with the holidays and everything, but i doubt so, and the drawfags really dissapeared.
Worse, the problem is that we are so far into the game that the quantity of text to read before joining in keeping increasing and new players will probably become more and more scarce.

“Tell me about her.” You continue holding her, and Loriette shifts around until she's nestled against your side, “After all, you'll probably meet my teacher someday.” You smile, but that smile becomes hollow as you realize that in a few short months she'll be gone, and that the next time you hear of her...it might be on JNN, with some other brave young pilot getting a bit of tinsel pinned to his uniform for extinguishing her smile.

“Oui.” She smiles bravely and squeezes you, “I was still very young and very clumsy, my legs had only been restored a petite while before and I had barely mastered walking. Still, it was after...that incident, so at least my claim to be Countess was secure. Or so I thought, until her Majesty le Queen bade me train with le Duchess, and I found that mine hated rival was to study under her too.” She sighs shakily, “In those days, le vile Countess Roosevelt's anger still burned most hot towards me, and Duchess Carnegie seemed so cold, so mystical, I thought I would be alone in her lands with no friends. Yet, I was wrong. In le first week, my cousin tried to assassinate me thirty-seven times. In each case, le Duchess prevented it...except the last. My cousin bribed a servant to stab me to death with a dagger. I was struck, but did not die, and fled on my shaky legs to the Duchess. As the assassin approached, I begged her for help, but she refused with silence and simply handed me her blade. Although I was unskilled with any form of weapons, I was bleeding and thought mon life was at an end...so I desperately hacked le assassin to death. After that, I was her student in truth, until the day she pronounced me ready and took back her sword. She taught me to be strong, to be a noble person, even if it was sometimes by her warning us not to follow her example. For a woman of over a century, she was always spry, lively, and would chide us for not having her energy. Mon cousin never forgave me for surviving, or le Duchess for aiding me. Deliberately, she refused to learn the Duchess' fighting style...but for her, that was alright.” She looks away, her tone sounding faintly angry, “Tabitha le Talented. Tabitha le Beautiful. Tabitha le Perfect. Tabitha who won prizes for her shooting before she had even flowered. My whole childhood, I had to hear about my mother's sister's daughter. Tabitha, Tabitha, Tabitha! Of course she could afford to eschew le blade for her precious guns. Of course she was angry when I was suddenly no longer le helpless victim to look down on. Still, neither of us was a match for le Duchess. Only Sir Gavin who guards the Queen, Duke de Rothschild-Beauchamps who leads le vanguard, and Belegor the monster who betrayed your people to join ours can match her.” She bites her lower lip, “No matter how frightened I was in battle, I thought...I just thought they were invincible, so we were always safe. I believed in her.”

“I know. But getting shot down isn't always the end of your story. Sometimes, it's just the beginning.” You smile, “Before I was shot down, I was just an officer aboard a single pirate ship.” You frown, and something that's been niggling at you forces its way out, “Thirty-seven assassination attempts? Really?”

Loriette grunts, “If you knew her you would understand why. Ours is a hatred deep and fierce...and one we have both earned.”

Even for a monarchy... This level of machiavellian schemes is execptional.
>>958359
>>958364
First, at least all the incidents involving the Bluegill-families are confirmed to have been done by Fairchild, because of what she said sometime ago about "silencing" them, and wouldn't be a strech for Roarke to notice that as she already did crazy shady evil things before.
But about infiltration... Even if it couldn't be so difficult for the more "humble-background" Knights and other servants to dissapear in a crowd, open terrorism doesn't seem like something that these guys would do... Even more because of the Duke, who untill this point has demonstrated that he prefers to go out of his way and take extra risk if its is possible to not spill blood.

I think that for now we shouldn't take too seriously the word from a news channel that is obviously controlled by Fairchild faction and already has spun lies about us before... Heck, they accusation of the Avalonians(Who are enemies of Fairchild) even makes her more suspected of being the one behind it!
And more, if Ceasar told Roarke about everything(and he saw the videos of Naomi killing everybody when she gone beserker), it would make it at least very strange that the families of these guys who died because of Fairchild shady shenanigans were the ones to be bombed... No?

>Also, stop shilling for Jupiter, Thunder.
>>
“How could anyone hate you? I'm Jovian and I can't stop myself from liking you, how could your own cousin try to kill you?” You ask.

Her answering smile is strained, “Remember, Rowarc, after losing my family I was a very lonely girl. Catapulted to first in line to the title of head of the Kennedy family, yet I could not even walk and had seen little of the outside world. Tabitha, on the other hand, was already a splendid noble. Her father had fought loyally for the Lady in the Revolution, and was a strong, proud lord loved and respected by all. Le Roosevelt family was rich and feared by their enemies, known for their strong warriors and bold Knights, and as soon as the Lady announced that she planned to raise le second generation of Paladins it was taken as inevitable that Tabitha would be the first. So when she sued the Queen and claimed that I could not protect mon family's lands, and that she should administer them as mon closest living relative...I knew there was a good chance that she would have her wish. No, not le good chance, but for a certainty.” She takes a deep, shuddering breath, “Except that I stumbled upon a secret. No one expected le shy cripple to notice, but I did. The head of her father's household guard was a knight most handsome. Fierce, stern, with hair as grey as a wolf's despite his youth. Discreet, loyal, without fear for his own honor or safety, he was a warrior without peer. Was. Although she was ten years his junior, Tabitha seduced him with her wiles and authority, and such was the passion of her affair that she could not refrain even in the palace of the Queen, where she was making her case. Which is where I, brought hence in a wheeled chair to defend myself, overheard them.” Her hands tighten into fists.

“So I exposed her. To le entire court. I shamed her, dragged her family name through le mud before le Queen. I did not care anymore what happened to me, I simply wanted her to hurt, to feel her destiny tighten like a collar around her throat like mine did.” She shudders, “Even the fact that she tried to steal my birthright came second to this fact, I feared her, so I wished to cause her fear. It worked. Her father was shamed, her knight was stripped of his rank, and in an attempt to salvage their names they volunteered for a mission most dangerous.” She smiles bitterly, “Le negotiations with a power calling themselves le United Jovian Colonies Independent Defense Force, who had occupied le uninhabited third planet of Avalon.”

Would you have done the same in her place?
I would probably have, i know that this sounds evil... But being a cripple and scorned by nobility, it would mean too much risk if i just tried to negotiate with her and lose the element of surprise if she could bring something out of her pocket to turn the tables on me.

I saw her, there, seated atop a great mesa of living wood...” She closes her eyes, a faint, heartfelt smile on her lips, “Kindness and goodness itself. As fresh as the world feels after a long rain. When she spoke my name, it was as if the sky had always been clouded, and now the clouds had broke.”

You pretend to understand despite being a colony boy born and bred and raised. Where you come from, rain is preceded with a polite warning from local weather authorities, carefully monitored and regulated, and any clouds are artificial.

“You don't understand, mon Rowarc. You can't understand unless you see her, that feeling of unconditional love and warmth, of belonging. As if she can see every dirty, twisted thing in your soul, and makes it pure again, loved and forgiven of every flaw. She told me, perhaps with words, perhaps with her eyes, I can scarcely tell, that I had been wrapped up in events by fate, and thus fate meant for me to help untangle le future. All I had to do was trust in her, and when I did...she made me whole.” She breathes deeply, the bitterness, sorrow, and fear draining from her face, “But while that happened, dire things transpired. Le negotiations. At first, le Jovians only wanted submission. We would join them in le League of Solar System as a junior partner, with taxes and tithes but le benefits of alliance...but we remembered that in the end it was le Jovians and their knights who struck the Lady and her people down, so we were suspicious. We were right to be. When it was revealed inadvertently that le Lady lived, le Jovians demanded her. At once. To be put to death. They would not negotiate further, they would not accept any other outcome, they would not be paid to go or appeased by submission. The death of le Lady was a mandate...and none of us could permit that. Officially, nobody knows how le war began. Violence broke out, and everyone at that base died fighting. Not one of theirs, nor one of our much smaller contingent, survived, only a single Jovian servant girl who fled on foot with le spacesuit. It is my theory that Count Roosevelt and Sir Schutze realized le Jovians would never relent, and struck first to protect our goddess. Le Jovians will say that we started this war, but I say they began it when they tried to take away the one who united and uplifted us.”

Also... I have a theory about why the greenman did it.
I Think that at some point thy realized that humanity was already screwed and fated to perish... So the only option was to start anew.
Or maybe even losing was part of their master-plan to "enhance" humanity somehow.

Fucking a servant is probly a NOPE.

So probably more on fucking the underclass than underage.
>>
He's of a lesser social station, that's the first and arguably smallest problem. The second, much larger problem, is that the family trusted him and he wasn't trustworthy because he was banging their heir and wrecking any good political marriages. The third problem is that she was a teenager and he was in his mid-late twenties. The fourth, and really damning problem, is that they were indiscreet enough about it to get caught by a cripple doing it where they absolutely shouldn't have been.

"Countess Roosvelt totally is a whore for her servants" is a reputation that can haunt a girl for life.

>>
>>958493

I actually think she was older by that point than Rin was in FSN. I'm trying to think of how to put this. It's not that she was criminally young, it's that the age and experience difference was such that it would be assumed she was the weaker partner and that's unbefitting for the heir to the Roosevelt family. It's about being "less than" a social inferior.

“Le base itself was destroyed, but an officer's strider survived, or rather its head and cockpit did, so when Avalon retook the planet it was found that a girl had been spotted fleeing. I would hazard that she is the one person in the galaxy who knows the truth of Count Roosevelt and Sir Schutze's last stand, and what they had to do to detonate the base's primary fusion reactor and stop le Jovians using it to produce striders to police our world.” She continues, “In a way, their sacrifice is le only reason she has influence at all. Being known as a warrior countess makes the accusations of being...ah...a social inferior's concubine.”

“Social inferior?” You decide to tease her a little, “What am I, then?”

She blushes and pushes you, “Non, you are not a servant and I am not a hypocrite! You are le great pirate king...” She lowers her voice, “And mon dirty peasant boy.”

You are not the most brilliant man in space, but you are rather clever, and the first thing that comes to mind is that you need to learn how to detect those spores that Green Men are supposed to use. What she's describing with the Lady sounds a lot like religious awe, and while it could all be psychological, creating a sense of grandeur and purpose to tap the right parts of the brain in the right way to instill devotion, you can't quite be sure. Whatever it is, it's making the way you feel right now more complicated than it has to be You're not very religious, and it's an unsettling feeling that you can't gauge at all whether it's logical or not when she describes going to war for the sake of her goddess. On the other hand, her goddess was physically threatened, Fatima is fighting for a god too and from the sound of things Allah isn't something that can be killed with a mech or a gun or one's hands. Privately, you once again wonder whether you're actually going to give her back. Avalon is a lot farther away than Mars, “How long ago was this?”

“Ten years...no, eleven, I think. I am not sure.” She frowns, looking puzzled, “Shouldn't you know that?”

You shake your head, “It's not commonly known, I didn't even know what was going on until I found out about the Duke entering the system. How could it have been going on for ten years with nobody finding out about this?”

She shrugs, “It has not been noisy until recently. Once we retook our system, we thought earnestly that le SSL would just...leave us alone, and for years, they did. We reached out to other planets, ones where they practiced le gene-sculpting, to try and help them keep their independence, and this caused sparks to fly, and over the past year, some of those sparks have caught, and open conflict between our forces rather than le planet's natives themselves has erupted. So, le Jovian government...it kept you in le dark, hmm?” She seems a bit smug, “Perhaps you give them too much trust, non?”

Why isn't the K-Swordfish fit for a solo raid?
>>
>>958559
Because he is not us.

He isn't the toughest machine in the fleet.
He isn't one of the best pilots in the star system.
He doesn't even have the scare factor that'll have pants shat even before we arrive.
>>
>>958564
But the fact that he is not us can be an advantage.
What if this is a trap?
Then sending other person can defuse their whole counter planning.
And if i'm not mistaken, Ceasar have the second best machine in our fleet now.
>>
>>958568
There is also the fact that he is in a very bloody distinct Soul machine and bringing him out to a raid where Fairchild can see is going to have her try and end us. Right now, the Soul machines are our secret aces until the New Years. Use them on that terror fleet or things that may harm one of our future colonies. But not outright stealing.

>That last line raises some good questions, though.
Yeah, the deep strike team is lead by a bastard son, an ex cripple, and some slut. Probably not a coincidence. For that matter, I strongly suspect that the Duke was looking for the Green skulls when he wound up at Suleiman 1.
>>958060
Its aesthetic is halfway between that of a Bahamut Corp machine and a Bucephalous machine. He wants to earn his keep and Fairchidl already knows that he deserted, why are you even worried about hiding them? There is no reason to not using them as everyone already expects us to do so, and not doing so would just waste a oportunity that can be temporary if Ceasar is planning to dropout after rescuing Naomi.
>Also, metagaming, Fairchild already said that she os going to use the "He was just being a double agent this whole time to betray the Iron Kestrels!" when she gets him back anyway.
And don't forget that she is on Qulir now, and the only one in this system is MacAllister if i'm not wrong... And he is probably occupied with the RCC anyway, and doesn't seem much keen on fighting Roarke before the wedding(From what he said in last session).

Sorry, i don't get it, the Lady doesn't seem defective... Maybe sorry for what they have done(i doubt it), without hope on destroying humanity again... Or maybe she didn't even get to take part on the war(i doubt it too), but that doesn't make her defective.

There is many things we could tell Lori, as she is very new to all this pirate thing and knows little from us that isn't from other people perspectives.
Also, i just love her reactions, she reminds me of a romantic and dreamy little girl sometimes... And there isn't much of this type of innocence here in the real world anymore.
>>959696
see this: >>959715
But maybe she was doing it on purpose, as it would mean to have Lori's Clan as a vassal on the long run, as she would have them dependent on her until Lori had children(what she could probably easily sabotage) or the propriety was transfered to a distant family member(as Wong explained about Avalonian sucession sometime ago) when Lori died... And then this person would have to deal with the MASSIVE Roosvelt interference on his lands caused by tabitha in decades.
Tabitha may or not had a evil master plan from the begining... But will we ever know?
>>959776
>They are all worthless people
I know that it can look like they were just trying to get rid of this romantic idiots... But there is one thing you've been missing here.
The Duke shouldn't be here, and the one who should be leading this mission in his place was his wife, who is one of the Lady's favorites and wasn't able to be here because of her pregnancy...
So this isn't a "suicide mission to get rid of indesirables" is more like "an very risk mission lead by one of our best that will give a chance to two idiots to have their redemption and make peace with each other as they'll be forced to cooperate or be heavily weakened".
Now, about the GreenSkulls things... Were the Duke there to ally with them? Or to kill them and take their things? Don't you forget that the greenskulls were war veterans who hated the greenman as much as anyone.

I meant in internal politics, the "old blood" conservatives were probably hoping that the duke and his followers would suffer some casualties in the process of succeeding.
>Now, about the GreenSkulls things... Were the Duke there to ally with them?
He tried to recruit us to fight the SSL. I suspect that the Duke would have given the same offer to the Green Skulls when they were more prominent. He missed one of their main forces by hours then one of his subordinates ran into their secret base. I suspect that that wasn't a coincidence.

Hm... Please explain a little more about this...
Isn't the cousins and the Duke unrelated by blood and politics?(It was said multiple times that they were from the Duchess faction)
Aren't the Queen/pro-Lady faction in power? What reasons do they have to get rid of the Duke? He is an war hero married to another war hero and has proven his loyalty again and again.
(There is the fact about the court browsing /tg/ and hating elves... but the elven blood is going to die in the new generation anyway.)
>Greenskulls
Make sense... I don't know how they would react to all the "Human cattle" thing, though.
Can you imagine the Duke asking that abomination they called captain to go aboard his ship? Only to watch him send a "doll" controled by afar to the meeting?
This would be bizzarre...

Yes, this makes sense bro, but wasn't the queen herself the one to send them to the SS? I don't think she is one of the people with a agenda of "removing elven scum"...
Unless she thinks that his blood may be a threat to her claim on the kingdom because one of his descendants could try to use it to justify a coup against her... Look at this way, my friend, at least now you know half the pain you pilot might had to be able to customize his mecha to this level, and if someone say something about "HA! Look, its just one more of those Morgan IIs Customs!" you'll have real reasons to go beserker on them for thinking that customizing them is easier than creating a new mech from scratch.

So... This time...
Everything is okay, there is just little details for you to adjust.
Your final price should be 137.9CP, as it seems like you forgot one point from your weapons.

Your missile range is 450m, not 400m, and it has 2 structural kills, but the weight is the same(1ton, as it is 0.5 per kill).

And because of its spaces, your Bazooka and Beam gun are two-handed, don't forget that.

So, i see you still have some spaces and 2.1CP to go, so let me ask you, do you want to have all your weapons at hand and not have to worry about throwing them away mid-fight?
You could do it by transfering your arm-thrusters to your legs and mounting your dagger into your arms(Vibroblades Katars?) and then using your last 2CP in space efficiency for the bazooka and turning it into a head mounted missilepod.
Then you could drop your rifle when the enemy gets close, and use your daggers to parry and attack.(See the rules about two-handed weapons and changing weapons in combat and you'll get what I'm talking about.)

Overall, I think it is a well balanced mech, that has ranged options, melee options and even missiles to give you that special edge over your enemy when you need some diferencial... But it doesn't have a shield, and by opting for more killy weapons you sacrificed your defenses in the process, making you vulnerable to other ace-level mechs.
So, it would probably be a good support for other units and a good mook killer, but fights with other aces will be specially risky, and you'll need to control distance(as you can only block melee) to have a chance.

I study psychology, bro, so i don't buy some idea just because some pretty girl spilled it out over tears... So i think that we don't know the whole story yet, as things IRL are hardly black and white when we talk about motivations and long term planning...
But... Do you want to knows what i think that is the most probable truth here?
I think that Tabitha really think that Lori was already screwed from the point that her family died, and would be victim of other noble's schemes sooner or later... So she planned on hijacking her propriety and indirectly vassaling her first to gain more power and to at least protect her from some worse fate, at the same time that she would also protect her lands from falling on the hands of her family political enemies.
Then Lori "betrays" her and she gets fully butthurt over it, even if Lori never asked her "help".

Most people always have some justificative about how they are "the good guys" for doing what they do, and Tabitha seems too much waifu material to be as unhinged as Fairchild.

i just. i just fuckin love zeon, fucken zabis makin it all genocidal
and the zaku 2 was great before stupid lasers came about.
>>
>>961176
That is good to hear. Hope I am doing the Zaku proud. Actually, with the Dutchman serving as a sort of Zaku II-J type, I was thinking of making a F-type for Space Only. Remove the heavy hydraulics for space hydraulics, use the tubing for coolant for the increased thruster portfolio and add a jetpack to maintain pursuit speed while running and gunning. Keep the weight the same and this baby would have a speed of 16 MA. 8 a move and a jetpack could make it so this thing could move 12 MA a turn and still attack. Going to do some more checking.
>>
>>961259
This would be cool to see, i doubt that we would produce many of these, but at least some could be made to open new possibilties and maybe taking our enemies by surprise once the start expecting the use of Dutchmen.
>>
>>960333
Uhhh... There is something wrong with the Knight's lance on your pastebin... As for its price it should be either AP or Quick and have WA+1.
>>
>>961488
why not?
we can make as many dutch man as we want
though id like one that can go in both space and planet
>>
>>961541
That would be the standard model. It's got Heavy Hydraulics which increase it's melee power and lifting capabilities and can work on land and in space. With the standard form it is pretty melee focused since the machine could in theory make great use of options that would otherwise be tricky for it's size and cost. The Dutchman Flying type seems to be different. It's mobility is tailor made for ranged weapons to hit on the run and the extra CP(going from heavy to space frees up 27 or so CP for this machine) means that you could make better options. Or do what I do and give it a max speed of 24 with it's booster pack.

>>961541
The Space-variant have its uses, but on the long game the general use version is better for widespread use as we can use it under gravity and it has bonus for melee damage.

Also, holding a bit before using the space variant and keeping it under limited production can give us an element of surprise when our enemies become more accustomed to the normal version and start to use tatics to counter them and expect us to use them in battle.

Or I'm just being crazy again.

>>961574
But taking this at consideration, using a space variant against troops expecting the normal version could easily turn the tables on them or at least cost them time enough to adapt that we can use to our favor.

>And now I'm imagining Amos leading troops against Dutchmen and having to improvise when his enemies start to fly around at MA 12 while taking hit-and-run tatics instead of going melee.
>>
>>961574

what was that one zaku looking thing? the Geara Doga i think? that can be the ace model if you want to make one
>>

>>
>>961614
Doing a bit of cost checking, the price for the beam machine gun is similar to a fragile 7 kill beam rifle. The machine gun has a range of 8, but the rifle has 11. Mix them up and you have a bunch of light fire weakening the pumpkinseed 2s and fouling up their active shields. All in all, it looks to be cheaper than the standard variant unless I want to finagle with it or give it some small modifier boosts like an ACE system.
>>961616
Well I technically made a ace model. About 200 points. http://pastebin.com/nb0sR5dg it's got laser fists and eyebeams and all that sort of stuff.

Good night for you too namefriend, sleep well.

Also, the knight stats are wrong... It should cost almost as much as a Osano-Wo.
>>
>>961828
Assuming that the Lance have Quick or AP and the cost is wrong, the final cost would be 151.3CP

And if the cost is wrong and the Lance is just a 6K simply piece of metal... The final cost would be 143.3(And I feel like someone already pointed this out before, as I'm getting Dejavu with these numbers...)

And anyway, the base weight should be 56,2 tons, and not 50.5tons.

>>961817
Doing things in this order.
>Space Knight Custom.
>Knight "Pumpkinseed II Custom"
>Pumpkinseed Jet
>Pumpkinseed Ninja.

>>

>>
>>961995
A 6k Lance without any add-on costs only 3CP.
That is what I'm talking about.
>>
>>961996
>The Knight uses a Mated Cannon and Lance, a hit of 6K to either will destroy both. The CP, Spaces, and Weight listed for either form is shared and not added twice to its cost.
NOPE. Its a copy and paste of Wong's stuff
>>
>>962000
Yes, but Wong's is listed the price wrong, even if he wasn't using rules for ammo and such.
In Fact, i think that originaly he was going to make it quick or AP and have +1, but he gave up on that and forgot to change it.

Also, if he isn't just house-ruling it, mating should add the weight of the two weapons... And clarification on that would be good as the TEMPLAR uses mating too.
>>
>>962004
>Yes, but Wong listed the price...
Sorry, that was a very bad typo.
>>
>>962004
No, his price is right, depending on his rules for ammo. You just aren't reading it correctly.
>>
>>962012
No, seriously, just look at the page 31 of the ATM, it is clearly stated that a 6K melee weapon just costs only 3CP if it doesn't have any multipliers.
Then in page 36 is listed the price for a 6K projectile gun, which would be 6CP(Plus ammo if we're using that rule...Which we are, because Wong ruled so a few threads ago as he reached the conclusion that it is necessary for balancing ammo issues...)
So even if we weren't using the ammo rules, the total result should be 9CP, and then, because of weapon mating, it should have a total of 7Spaces... But as the knight needs to be able to use it with only one hand, another 0,5CP is spent to bring the spaces down to 6, resulting in a 9,5CP, 6 Spaces, 6 tons, Weapon(As mating doesn't halves the weight of its systems... And I don't remember Wong house ruling it even after the Knight.).

Hey Wong, gotta question or two for you.

What are the major holidays in universe? And any birthdays coming up in quest?
>>
>>962012

Basically I was using corebook's rules for ammo and doing what most GMs do when it comes to arrows or bullets or other expendable things that are shot at enemies...handwaving it to an extent. I actually think that a Knight's cannon is the basic Medium (6K) Cannon from the corebook, which might actually cost more because of the ATM, with three spare clips. It would have been helpful if the ATM clarified that its ammo rules are replacing the corebook's version.

Honestly? Playing through UBW in college I stopped when Saber became her Servant because I thought of her as a bitchy bisexual tsundere out to steal Shirou's waifu. I continued disliking her for years until I finally read the rest of UBW and subsequently Heaven's Feel in an LP, at which point she became my favorite girl (besides Fuji-nee and Caster). She and Shirou always seemed to have the most...I guess you could say "realistic" relationship, and she also seemed like she was the best for his mental and physical health because she wants to improve him and make his life a little more normal. Of the three, she's the only one who really seems aware of his emotional problems. However, she was a tremendous cunt in the second half of Heaven's Feel. An absolutely tremendous cunt. The biggest problem with Rin is that in her own way she's the protagonist and Shirou is her husbando character and it grates with Saber's serious devotion and Sakura's admittedly cute penchant to worship the ground Shirou walks on.

TL:DR Shirou and Rin is the healthiest relationship and probably the best end, but I want a Fuji-nee route.

Well, I'm getting close.

Interesting, I could try those vibroblade katars. Also, I did remember reading the corebook that handheld weapons are assumed to have a no-space no-cost mount somewhere on them, but ditching is also fine.

I did try a couple of games, and I might actually lower the MA to 8. An extra 100m doesn't actually feel like much to me, so I could actually try for a pretty small shield.

Anyway, v7 will come soon, then.

Three questions: two about weight efficiency and one about the parry skill.

Suppose you are 40 tons and you want to spend weight efficiency and shave off a ton. Do you do that before you add thrusters or after?

Does going down for 40 to 39 tons increase your MV from -4 to -3 or is your MV stuck at -4?

As for the Parry roll: if you're using a shield, do you factor in the Mecha Melee skill or only use that skill if you are parrying with a Melee Weapon?

It was easier to get to your room quickly on the old Rhinehawk, but you manage.

Loriette is everything you would expect an old-fashioned noblewoman to be, and more. She's a bit shy and demure, less experienced than she tries to pretend, and just a tiny bit demanding in a charming sort of way. Her skin is so soft and so smooth that you would never grow tired of touching it, and despite the war between your systems she clings to you with a passion that speaks of more than loneliness and a desire for warmth. She asks, before you even start, for the lights to stay on, expressing "It is mon wish to look at your face, sweet Rowarc." What you didn't expect was her strength. It's not Clemmy's sheer energetic animal power, but despite her build she's as powerful as an amazon and once your bodies are locked together she's insatiable. Hours fly by, and she still has the energy to talk at the end, when the two of you are curled up naked in bed with the sweat-soaked sheets tossed aside.

"Rowarc, these creatures on your wall, are they the gods of Jupiter?" She looks up at your posters.

You're momentarily taken aback, then shake your head, "No, they're...well, they are sort of gods, but they're far older than the Jovian colonies."

She laughs, "Oui? Mon Rowarc is a devotee of le ancient deities, then? A servant of le Old Gods? Ohoho~"

"The Gods of Rock, maybe." You try to explain.

"What rock?" She asks innocently, "I knew they were beings of le otherworld just by seeing them, but I do not know of this rock."

"I mean music. Real music, back from when it was all about playing from the heart, letting your spirit soar on the vibrations of an electric guitar and feeling your hair blow in the wind." You're slightly unnerved by how little she seems to understand.

"Ahhh~" She claps her hands, "Are you a musician, Rowarc? Oh, play for me, will you?" She looks too delighted for you to refuse, so you get out your harmonica and play for her for a while. You never thought of yourself as being all that good, but she seems enraptured by it, not just by the music but by the fact that you're playing for her. It might be some cultural thing, you guess.

'Baaaaar' Is her only reply.

Oh, the things you do for the sake of credits.

You make your way to the bar. It's a lot bigger and a lot more ornate than the old one. The First Mate's original mask covers one wall, with the twisted saber-arm Rashad nearly blew open your microfusion generator core with displayed above it. The Bosun's much smaller, human-scale mask hangs behind the bar, which is still made from the scarlet mohawk of Pierre's original Pumpkinseed.

Maya is working as bartender tonight, presumably to give Brunhilde some time off. She smiles and waves at you as you make your way over, then puts two fingers in the corners of her mouth and whistles loudly enough to make you wince. Miles stands up from the Bluegill Joe machine and starts making her way over, somehow managing to look both amused and grumpy at the same time.

"Ey, fuck you Dude. You know I was about to send a search party after you?" She says without much rancor as she takes a seat on the stool next to you and holds up two fingers to Maya. The cheerful blonde comms officer fetches you each a beer, then spots Avi coming in and runs out from behind the bar with a happy squeal to go meet him. Your First Mate watches her go with a smile, "Hard to believe Avi's the mature one. Good for them." She opens her beer, "Anyway, where were you?"

"My room." You respond succinctly, opening your own beer and taking a sip.

"Doing what? Karen's in the mechbay and the other three are somewhere in here. Samantha was doing a little project and the others...I'm not sure, Sam and Karen are the only two I'm friends with. Look at what Sammy made, isn't it nice?" She nods towards a sign hanging over the bar. It's made from real wood, engraved with an artful border pattern and the words 'The Greatest Hits Bar' in a stylish but still legible hand. The words seem to have been burned in with a laser cutter on low power, dark and neat.

"Doing things." You respond with cheeky brevity.

She glares sidelong at you, "I'd kick your ass if Lieutenant Butcher and Miss Martian weren't lurking somewhere around here."

"Lucky me. Tell me about the job." You insist.

She rolls her eyes, "Well, I know it's a bitch move robbing a colony that's just been bombed, but the Europan Museum of Culture was one of the targets these terrorist fuckholes hit. As it happens, it was hosting this exhibit..." She pushes a flyer across to you, and you pick it up.

"'Auric Treasures of Ancient Terra'" You read, flipping it open and reading through, "It's a collection of relics from Earth?"

"Yep. Gold, mostly, but there are a lot of other precious materials." She nods.

You glance at her, disappointed, "It's just gold."

>>
"'Bluh bluh it's just gold I'm a big dumb ginger who doesn't know the value of art'" Miles mimics you sarcastically, "So what if gold is more common now than it used to be? These are relics from Ancient Terra, some of them donated by ACTUAL TERRANS. Others come from the Reformed Catholic Church, others from private collectors. We're not going to fucking melt them down, Dude, it doesn't matter if they're made of gold or palladium, their worth comes from them being all historical n'shit. Antiques. TERRAN antiques. How much do you think an Eggipan sarcoughapus is worth when there isn't even an Eggip anymore?"

"Egyptian. Sarcophagus." You correct her, admiring the picture of the gold-inlaid tomb and its jewels, "So let me guess, because the museum was hit..."

"...They're moving the exhibit, yeah." Miles becomes more animated discussing the job, "I had time to do some research while you were 'busy'. The exhibit is being transferred to a triple-secure site somewhere on Palatine."

"We're not robbing Palatine, that's the colony the Jovian seat of government is on, we'd be fighting the Praetorian Guard." You're adamant on that front. An assault on Palatine is a great way for the Senate or Chairman to decide that Wels-classes need to be diverted to deal with you.

"Damn fucking straight Dude. No, we're not hitting Palatine." She gets out her PC and displays a route chart. Too short for warp jumps, it looks like a sublight path between two of the Jovian colonies. "We're hitting them during the transit."

"The relics...and because the Museum of Culture is according to the holonet apparently every rich fucker's second-favorite favorite place to donate their surplus wealth there are a fucking ton of relics...are being transported on an old-fashioned Megamule barge." She displays an image of a ship, long and flattish with a plump belly. It's one of the few remaining Bucephalus-made ship patterns still in service, an unapologetic mass-cargo-hauler.

"Of course, their maneuverability is complete fucking shit, so they need a tugboat to manage casting off and docking. That's where we come in. Or rather, you. See, you're going to be on that tugboat." She looks inordinately pleased with herself, "I've already set things up to have the Harmonium ambush the actual transport they hired, which is currently en-route back from Mars. I technically need your approval, but I figured you wouldn't mind." She messes with her PC more, and the holoscreen displays a bog-standard transport ship, with no mechbay to make room for additional cargo. Seeing it, and realizing just how much more cargo space on the barge there is, you check the flyer again and whistle at just how large the exhibit turns out to be. Of course, the Museum of Culture is huge, they're proud of the fact that it's almost impossible to see everything in one visit even if you arrive at opening and stay until it closes, but still they must have opened up an entire wing for this, "We absolutely can't conceal more than two mecha, and before you tell me how smart I am or act like a dick and ask how I know, Karen did all the math and engineering and was pretty insistent two is the maximum. One is obviously gonna be the Kaiser. It's our top mech and the best suited for any escort mecha the barge has. If we're lucky, just having you show up in it and make poses will be enough to get everyone to surrender, and then we just...fly off with the gold. What can go wrong? Anyway, the second mech and its pilot are gonna be your backup, we'll keep it deactivated unless we absolutely need it, but you're the boss and I figure you should pick your own wingman."

>[Who will you take as your backup?]

And to give you guys time to argue over that decision, NOW Wong shall feed. Game resumes in one hour, choose your destiny!

Nasu's Fixation with Hassan-i-Sabbah is dumb.

Sasaki was cool though.
>>
>>963755
Hell no, that money should go to rebuilding Psyche and getting us more mechs

>>963758
Lets bring Rosita, she's good crowd control for Mooks and can fight aces on her own if need be
>>
>>963298
Ironically, Nasu wanted Shirou to be a girl and the three routes were going to be King Arthur, Gilgamesh and Cu Chulainn.
>>
>>963758
Hmmmm.. Sammy is good, same with Rosita since they both are skilled with support. Moe's machine is too collateral heavy with those muskets, but it's sturdier and quite capable. If this was a japanese exhibit I would say take Oda.
In the end, I would say Rosita for this. Blast guns of that level can allow for hitting a lot of enemies at once and we did leave her behind during the Psyche Raid.
>>
>>963758
Sam as primary, because having a sneaky suit to help recon is always a good idea.

Rosita as seconday, because her Shadow Imager is a force multiplier if we decide to go loud.
>>
>>963758
hmmm
either the swordfish or the Zulfiqar
also what is the stats for the sword fish?
because if we can turn his lance at even a small ranged weapon i vote for that.
if not the Zulfiqar
>>
>>963758
Either Sam or Red would be our best back-up for this mission
Red's mech is good for ranged back up for the Kaiser if we need it and she is a veteran in Solo raids
Sam's Betta's stealth is handy in most situations and it has a ASP and Target Analyzer (Yes I know the Kaiser has those functions as well) that can come in handy, especially when combined with Sam's tactical knowledge
>>
>>963758
guy's this is a back up not a support.
there only going to help if things go tits up
>>
>>963797

It's Kaiser and one other.
>>
>>963826
So why are you picking a melee specialist or a machie with AOE when our job is to safely capture a vessle full of priceless treasure? If we are going to have a second, have one that can fire at range or sneak up or at least cover our weak spots. If they have anti melee defenses, bringing MORE standard melee is a bad idea.
>>
>>963847
i asked if the swordfish got a ranged weapon
the zulfizar has dual energy shot guns by the way.
besides i want some mentor apprentice bonding moments!
>>
>>963826
Sam then. She can help scout out the opposition and serve as immediate backup to take out snipers. Also, this raid can serve as her formal initiation into the Iron Kestrels.
>>
>>963758
Rosita I think
>>
>>963860

Aren't the stats in the Rogue's Gallery? Which, by the way, I need to update. The S-Swordfish in THAT form had its melee lance and a big bladed shuriken drone for ranged combat, plus it's fast (faster than the Kaiser, even) and does huge damage on a charge. Even huger if, when I finish making its upgraded version, I decide to go with strapping an external booster pod to it for truly gratuitous Ave Caesar action.
>>
>>963874
You have to link to Wong or he won't count it
>>
Alright, general consensus seems to be on either Samantha or Rosita. Choose one of those two. I'm doing it this way so third-candidate votes don't get wasted.
>>
>>963879
you haven't really updated the rouge gallery much
also i was asking if you could give the lance cannon feature the knits have to the sword fish for range
>>
>>963889
Sam
>>
>>963860
The Swordfish's range option is a simple throwing weapon. It's not high damage and not very long range. The swordfish's main strength is it's charge after all. As for Moe, his guns have wide angle. That means they hit multiple targets in range and do not stop. That means that if the mechs are in front of the ship, it hits the ship too.. which can crit and blow it up.
Rosita's range and burst means she can hit multiple enemies and rip them to shreds or soften them up without hitting the ship. If we wish to bond with the two, a solo+1 mission like this with fragile cargo isn't the best chance.
>>
>>963889
Rosita, we're going to go out guns blazing. And while we're facing whatever ace we someone to deal with the mooks
>>
>>963889
Rosita
>>
>>963034
This was a great idea, you're a genius anon.
>>963058
So the Knight is 143CP... huh, almost tourney level.
>>963066
It costs only 0.6 more, almost no difference, and the fact about it being mated easily weight down this fact.
Also, mating doesn't halve the weight... Are we house ruling that? Because if so, Avalonanon is probably going to have to change his TEMPLAR again...
>>963092
Let me give it a look, but i think that i mentioned in another thread that by doing so you would fix everything...
But didn't I mentioned a better option? This one sounds a little harsh, and I remember mentioning at least a few ways of getting to 140CP.
>>963110
Thats very interesting... Thanks for your attention Wong, I'm still deciding on if i should watch it not, as I have some friends that liked it... But most people say that it's just pure crap.
>>963146
Vibroblade katar are very cool.
What I was referencing was the fact that putting a weapon away costs one action if you aren't just letting it go to float in space for a while mid-combat... And that by having two-handed weapons on your hands(like your rifle) makes it so that you can only parry with them... And thats a VERY BAD idea while using a rifle, so, when your opponent got closer, you'd have to "Drop" the rifle and get the katars/daggers out to be able to block his melee, and it would make more sense to have inbuilt dagger for that to free you from having to drop them when you went for the rifle again... Undestood?
I'll give a look to your new robot before the end of this session too... But in advance I can tell you that opting for a shield makes you more resistant, but not really a tanker and still won't solve all of your problems with same-level mechs... While reducing your damage output doesn't change much for mooks but could a make some difference on more tankish mechs, and scraping your interservo and dagger takes away most of your melee damage output (that was almost as high as the Walkure punches and could even scrap some same-level mechs if you survived for a whole turn and managed to connect all of your hits).
>>963187
Dutch senpai, you made it again, this is just awesome, and I can already imagine our enemies faces when we turn their expectatives against them when the time for the debut of this little wonder finally comes.

Also, I believe that my drawfriend is either asleep or without internet for today... So I will have to apologize to you guys and try to speak with her tomorrow...

>Rosita
i don't think that sam has any range.
all she had was the pile bunker right?
>>
>>963889
Rosita. Range is what we need for our second, not more melee.
>>
>>963899

No. First, because Caesar is a melee specialist. One of the reasons he and Clemmy get along is because they both filled the same role in their SOUL squad, a reliable close-combat monster to lock down enemies. He doesn't really do ranged combat.
>>
>>963899
>>963930

Oh, oops, I forgot my second point. Unless I made it a Fragile beam cannon, it would add too much weight if it was enough gun to be a meaningful alternative to the lance.

>>963913

Yes, dual shock pile bunkers.
>>
>>963930
ah. gotch
any way to get him a road hog hook? (over watch for any but that doesn't know) or something
>>
>>963941
The grapple is not really a good weapon for Caesar since it's the sort of thing that meshes badly with his fighting style. See, Caesar gets massive buffs to his charge since he can use his lance for it. So any enemy that is in full move range of him is going to have a bad time even if they parry. Entangle weapons are heavy and costly and that weight would get in the way of his 'I'm going to charge at you for yes damage' strategy.
>>
>>963758
>What can go wrong?
Ask that question again and I will take your gun away.
>>
>>963758
Rosita is obviously the best choice here.
First, because of the fact that Sam is no damage dealer.
Second... When need to spend more time with her and give her space to shine to compensate for leaving her behind in our last legendary-ancient-french-cheese-lost-in-a-cave-two-thousand-years-ago-Milk run.

...But you guys already know that she will be pissed if we don't let her get out of the box, right?
>>
>>963981

This is either a trap or inside-job from a insider faction to take away the relics to themselfs.

If it was Fairchild behind the bombing... The Museum bombing probably was planned by her too... And then she would get all the relics in a perfect spot for her new black-ops crew to rob them and use them for funding...

Samantha would be useful, you have to admit. She's serious, competent, her ability to cloak her mecha is incredibly useful...and yet, there's only one person you can really think of bringing along on an incredibly daring small-scale raid for actual, physical treasure in an age of credits. There's only one person who could understand the significance of real gold doubloons, of physical wealth that can be held in one's hands. Your mind was made up from the beginning, "Miles, do you have any other business on this colony? If not, we're warping to Auditorium immediately."

Much to your surprise, Miles smiles and gives you a gentle punch on the arm, "You're such a romantic. It's Red Siren, right?"

You roll your eyes, and smack her hand away, "I'm thinking tactically."

Miles counter-smacks your smacking hand, "Dude, how long have we been friends? Trust me, it's the right kind of date to take her on." She chugs the rest of the beer and neatly spikes the container into the nearest trash receptacle, "Speaking of which, Richard's not feeling well. I'm gonna go make sure he's sleeping alright. Where's Maya? I'll need soup when he wakes up and she's good at soup." The small woman swaggers away, waving farewell to you casually.

You finish your beer as well, but as you turn to go, you notice an odd convocation. Sitting at one of the booths along the wall are Samantha, Fatima, and Clemmy. They seem to be having a very intense conversation. Samantha looks pensive, making a lot of short, sharp nods, her gaze serious and hawkish. Clemmy is bristling, and Fatima looks downright angry. She has a scowl you haven't seen since the days when your conversations were carried out from opposite sides of the plasteel door of a cell in the Rhinehawk's brig.

Also, I've just redone your math again.
Your mech has a base weight of 39,5tons and a final cost of 130CP.
Where you screwed up? Forgot to take away the 0,5tons from your new weaker weapon and to remove the weight of the dagger you didn't had anymore.

Also, you caculated the price of your weapon wrong, it was 25.8, not 26.1.

And because of all that combined, your MA price went up one point more than it should be.

So... the v7 is cheaper than the v6 by 10CP.

>>964131
It is... Finally ready...
>Akai stares at the end result of all of her constant suggestions and lessions on the workings of mechas... And the other 90% of hardwork done by the Avalonian mechanics helping Victor with it too.
>...A few hours later Victor finds her hugging the 「TEMPLAR」right feet while sleeping, only wearing a swimsuit like she always do when working with these things, and coiled in a blanket left by some kind-hearted mechanic or passerby.

Are you satisfied with the end result? we can still tweak it a little if you want.

Also, change:
>Total weight: 42.2 Tons (39.2 tons with weight efficiency 5 CP)
To:
>Total weight: 42.2 Tons (39.7 tons with weight efficiency 5 CP)

And thats it.

You casually saunter in the general direction of the door via a route that takes you in the general direction of their table, doing you're best to avoid looking like you're looking. It reminds you of the feeling of skimming along a ship's hull and trying to avoid the scything light of turret fire. You do your best to remain casual and listen in.

"I understand, and I apologize. This was all a result of my lack of vigilance, Pierre and I were training with Mohammed and Merrow in the sims. Please forgive me, sisters." Samantha bows her head slightly, looking contrite.

Fatima still looks radiantly angry, but a smile of unquestionable pride crosses her face, "You're a dutiful and well-mannered warrior, Samantha. It wasn't your fault, your brother is family too, I understand why you're trying to spend time with him." She reaches across the table to pat the Europan girl's hand, "We've all been busy, that's how this lapse happened. You had your brother to worry about, I had my father's colonies, Karen is...consuming a truly worrying about of those energy sodas and has been working nonstop for days. And as for Clementine..."

"I can't believe such a dirty trick!" Clemmy, sitting next to Fatima, bursts out, slamming her fist down on the table. "She started crying! His eyes were full of compassion and heart, I had to let him go! I didn't think she was going to snooker him the moment he was out of my protection! My poor, innocent Roarke..." She drops her face into her hands, shaking her head in despair.

The sight has you so taken aback that you don't spot Samantha's grey-green eyes on you as you walk past. She stands gracefully, casually hooking her arm through yours, "There you are. Why don't you sit down for a while? Join us." She squeezes, just a little, with a fierce light in her eyes.

Also, i forgot to add the 1CP for the space reduction of the Bazooka...
That would leave you at 131.1CP.
And you'd need 10,5CP to bring the dagger back.
But the weight would go up and put you under -4MV.

Well... you could remove 2Kills from the shield.
Now 128.6CP/38.5
Buy dagger and interservo(+10,5CP/1,5tons)
Now total is 139.1/40tons)
And then use 0,8CP to bring the weight down by 0,4tons.

Total CP 139.9/39.5 tons.

Then you move your storage from the torso to your head or another servo and mount the "Bazooka"(now a missile pack) on your torso.
then mount your daggers as katar inside each arms.

Wait, the shield will take one space from one of them...

Well... you could remove one kill from your head instead of using weight efficiency... and then use the resulting point to buy space efficiency on the katars.

She grips your forearm, and you feel her fingers press in just slightly. For a moment, you think she's going for a pressure point, but then you realize she's feeling for your pulse. You feel your heartbeat speed up in response, and take a deep breath. It never struck you as a good idea to lie to a former intelligence officer anyway, "I can spare a few minutes." You say, your throat just a little dry.

You gesture for her to sit down ahead of you, so that she'll have the wall-side seat, making it possible to escape without climbing over her, but she's wise to that game too, with a shake of her head as precise and deliberate as the arc of a headsman's axe, "After you, Roarke. You're easier to lean on when you're in a corner, anyway." She lets you digest that while sitting you down, and then sitting down herself in the end seat.

"Good evening, my husband-to-be." Fatima says coldly, steepling her fingers on the table, "As I was saying, Clementine has a very pure heart...unlike a certain wolf I know, so I must disagree with her opinion that there is no culpability on the part of a certain Admiral. You are no innocent little lamb, are you Roarke?" Her eyes narrow slightly.

There are no storms in space, but suddenly you understand how ancient mariners felt when they saw those iron-grey clouds on the horizon, and heard the soft rumble of thunder.

"Of course not, but I'm glad Clemmy was willing to speak in my defense." You keep your cool. You don't stutter, you don't get flustered, you're Admiral Roarke Starwind and you have your shades on. That's the kind of man you are. "This isn't an innocent line of work I'm in."

Samantha squeezes your forearm slightly.

Fatima smiles just a tiny bit, sighing, "At least you're honest about what you are. I'm sure you know what we're talking about. What you did today, with the Green Man worshipper."

"Who is certainly a modified human, and we have no idea what she was actually built to do." Samantha points out.

Clemmy just stares at you with big, sad eyes.

Fatima pats her on the head to console her, "We're worried about you, Roarke. All three of us."

The other two nod in unison.

But not OVERLY worried. So far, she's seemed like nothing but an honest woman, and if nothing else she actually seems willing to believe that the green men were NOT, as a people, kind and peaceful. Because of that, I'm willing to trust her, but I'm not a complete idiot, and I know that nobody would know better than all of you if I started acting like a sympathizer myself or showing any signs of being spored. Do I believe she's doing so? not in the slightest, but...I acknowledge there is at least a small risk.

"I'm absolutely fine." You hold up a hand to forestall interruption, "But it isn't a bad thing for you to be worried. I'm a little relieved, actually. The women I love, looking out for me. I'm touched. So far, Loriette seems to be exactly what she seems, an honest and sincere woman with a lot of pride and the occasional clash between our cultures. She even denounced the other Green Men and was horrified by the atrocities they committed during the War. Believe me, believe IN me, that is the reason I am willing to trust her." Your smile becomes a grin, "Like you said, I'm not an innocent little lamb, I know how to handle myself."

Samantha and Fatima exchange glances, Samantha speaks first, "Roarke, we're not worried about her intentionally hurting you."

"I really doubt she would, she seems smitten. Us, she would be happy to hurt." Fatima glowers at the thought of smitten Loriette, "But she doesn't have to intend it. Think about what the Green Men are, what they do."

Clemmy nods, "It isn't just that she might...I don't know, turn into a giant flower and start sending off spores or something, or that her ribcage will open up into a giant mouth and bite you or something like that. Caesar and I talked while you were busy. He told me about what happened to poor Naomi in a l'il more detail, and Fatima confirmed it, right? I think he was blocking the implications out a little, but you're older than he is, you'll get it quicker."

"Naomi Heim killed six people who were her teammates, maybe even people she knew, just a few minutes before." Fatima states it plainly, "She butchered them."

Clemmy shakes her head, "I'm not sure there's any way for her to go back to the UJCIDF after that."

"Just from what I heard from Caesar during the sim training, I noticed that she went from being mentally prepared to fight an army of Avalonian mecha and Harpies to quietly following at the heels of the first Paladin that came along." Samantha adds quietly, "Do you understand? The Countess could truly, absolutely love you one second, and then tear your heart out the next, all in response to some undetectable signal."

Final setup here. http://pastebin.com/Z8nsjgsJ

Also, I actually tried fighting V6 and V7, it was interesting.

4 matches, both tied:

-V7 wins first one due to V6 losing every weapon

-V6 wins second one due to megacrit to torso

-V7 wins third due to cockpit stab

-And V6 wins after them fighting each other with katars for 5 straight turns because they were chipping each other's armor, scoring hits on their sensors, and V6 got the final hit in. Got one of his katars jammed, though.

"Like a living bomb." Fatima clarifies, "Like you're sleeping with a live grenade."

Samantha sits more upright suddenly, raising a gloved hand to her mouth in contemplation, "Or it could be much more subtle than that. You have a widespread reputation, if the Lady has informants in the Solar System, she could easily know about you, and how to affect you. What if it wasn't a coincidence that her ship ran into you on Mars? What if that was what she was meant to do from the very beginning? She wouldn't even have to know about it, all she would have to do is fall for you and keep you from cooperating in the war effort against Avalon."

"That's ridiculous." You protest.

"Is it?" Samantha raises her delicate eyebrows, "I told you before that it's quite possible Avalon attacked the Gate of Mars when they did because you were causing a stir."

Fatima's hands clench into fists, "And I will inflict great suffering on them for using my beloved as a decoy."

"You have no evidence that she's some kind of...sleeper agent femme fatale sent to seduce me. None at all." You respond sternly, "Besides, I was already seduced. Multiple times. By the women I'm marrying."

"He has a point, you know." Clemmy remarks, her pout lightening somewhat. On impulse you lean across the table and hug her tight. She sighs happily and hugs you back, "Yeah, a really good point. If he's not in a SOUL squad by now, I don't think Avalon could make him a Paladin."

Samantha shrugs, "It's what I'd do if I was an ancient immortal with an inhuman intellect and patience. You're right, though, I don't have any evidence...but it is still a possibility. Just like her being ordered to kill you or any of us is a possibility. But even if we ignore that, all of it, she can still hurt you and you can hurt her." Her voice is soft with compassion, and as she hugs you from the side Clemmy doesn't even try to shove her rival away. You're proud of her for that. Samantha clarifies her point as she embraces you, "What happens when she has to go home, Roarke? I know you and your big heart. You'll miss her, you'll want her, and if you chase her to Avalon I'm afraid nothing in this galaxy can protect you. Or what happens when the Duke's golden Paladin comes to take her back too? What will you do? Where's the future for the two of you? Look me in the eyes and convince me that I'm not going to see the man I love get his heart broken."

>>
>>964686
Do what I can. Honestly, I don't like the idea of what the Green Lady can do. It's like those damn circlets the green skulls made and I don't like the idea of any Avalonian or any human being having that sort of kill switch. Could have her act as an neutral ambassador, to say I am neutral to this war, but either way I promised to protect my crew and rescue Naomi for Ceasar. If that path involves finding a way to remove spores or stop whatever stupid shit the Green lady can do, then I am fine by that.
As it is, if I am left no other option, I am willing to part ways with her. Its what I promised and what I'd do, and we had good times. I am at least a realist there. But if it's due to the Green Lady manipulating her or using her spores, I don't think I could resist the chance to punch her lights out and find a way to break them out of it.
>>
>>964686
Well, call me a romantic, but if she leaves, I don't think she'll be gone long...or call me a pragmatist for the same thought. After all, as long as she stays in the area to pursue the war, what's to stop me from just kidnapping her again? Although, if she did simply leave the area to return to Avalon, I would simply sit and wait for her to message me or come back, and if neither happened, all that would really mean is that I was wrong about who I thought she was. Don't get me wrong, if that were to occur, it would be very painful, but I wouldn't go chasing off into Avalon for someone who had lied so thoroughly to me about who she was.
>>
>>964729
with the obvious exception of "Yeah, she didn't message you because they've locked her up and are planning to execute her", but then we go into Operation: are you a bad enough dude, and I do believe I am.
>>
>>964709
Oh and I'm going to add a bit more

"Yes, she may fall in the war, and it will hurt and I will grieve... But to be blunt, all of us here are fighters as well and we face those risks too."
>>
>>964674
Huh, could you please change the streamline the format a little bit more to it to fit like the sheets on the Rogue's Gallery?
Oh, and you could also rename your weapons if you want, like:
>[Arm-Mounted]Vibro-Blade Katars.
>Combat log.
Wow, thats a lot of crits!
But a katar duel would probably look awesome.
>>964657
Don't you have your cloak? Aren't your range 700m? If so, you could easily skit the one-hitters by uncloaking, firing, having them come 600m closer to you, cloaking again and moving away.
But I think that they can roll to detect you... And then you'd be screwed.
>>964705
Could you send me your last build again? I don't think that I've added it yet to the pastebin.
>>964711
They would have to crit or aim at your gun to have that happening, and both are hard to do.
Battoujutsu still is a serious risk to everyone.
>>964723
Wasn't that YOUR idea? I'm not the first one to suggest that! What are we offering them then? Her freedom? At this point the Duke probably already know whats going on anyway.
>>

>>
>>964732
How would you know if was locked up in a tower? Do you know how far Avalon is? And why would any Avalonian powerful enough to know this tell us about her predicament?
...Well, there is the Duke, but he is kinda hated by everyone and would probably be kept in the dark about this too...

"I can't do that, Samantha. I don't know what the future holds, but it's my mess, my responsibility."

"No, it's not." Samantha retorts, eyes flashing, "That's not how being in a relationship works, Roarke. If you get hurt, picking up the pieces is our responsibility."

"She's right, and protecting you in the first place is also our responsibility. We all had to struggle to get our happy ending with you, we won't let you come to harm now." Fatima draws herself up to her full height.

"You're not the only ones who had to struggle for it. What I'll do is what I can do. I can't give you an answer that will make all your fears go away, Samantha, I'm sorry. I'm still the same man who saw a cute Pumpkinseed pilot with a sense of tact while her brother was trying to arrest me, and decided 'I want to take her on a date'. I can't help it, just like I couldn't help falling in love with a captive Martian princess engaged to another man, or getting challenged by one of the most lethal people I've ever met and deciding that I wanted to spend my life with her. I couldn't give you an answer that would satisfy you and still be the man you love, Samantha. If Loriette has to leave, I'll deal with it, we're both adults with commitments. Besides, I promised Caesar I was going to rescue his girlfriend. They took shelter with us, which makes her MY responsibility. How can I uphold my pledge if I can't brave the possibility that the Lady did something to Loriette to make her dangerous? How can I keep my word about saving Naomi if I can't even save Loriette? I have no love for the Lady. I want her as far away from me and Loriette and anyone else in my fleet as possible. I'm certainly not going to help Avalon. You have my word on that."

All three of them exchange glances. Samantha is blushing. Fatima looks slightly taken aback.

"She'll be under surveillance." Samantha promises.

"And all of us will be looking out for you." Fatima swears, "By Allah, I am going to keep you safe and happy, and I will crush anything in my way to do it."

Clemmy just looks at you, love in her eyes, "Darling, I'm sorry for not understanding. I didn't mean to cause you problems. Um, from now on, I'll try to be nice to her."

You start to stand up, "I'm glad we finally settled this once and for all. I am a lucky, lucky man to have women who care so much about me, but now I have to get back to work. We're about to warp to Auditorium."

Fatima gets out her PC, and sends a quick message, "I just took care of that, love of my life." She smiles. It's a rather evil smile, "I told young Avi to prepare for warp on your orders...but you aren't going anywhere. You, O beloved, have avoided being involved in planning this wedding for far too long." She brings up a folder. Dozens of holographic cakes, each more ornate than the last, appear suspended in midair, "...And there is so, so much to plan, starting with what sort of icing you prefer. Now I've pulled the girls' medical records, and thankfully none of them have any notable food allergies..."

Hell opens up before you as the three women enthusiastically begin planning an event that all three have clearly been plotting since they were young enough to imagine themselves in a white dress with a veil.

To be fair, there are other builds that have ludicrous melee damage. The Valkyrie's main advantage is its layered defense.

Quick question: Which of these do people think is the best visual for the Valkyrie?
>>
>>966109
An alternate option, though I don't like the legs.
>>
>>966114
Or Kiva's short lived mecha from Megas XLR. Its a shame that a good picture of it is so hard to find. This is the one that I'm actually leaning towards, but the wings would be reinforced.

Side note: but do we know what the rules are for hands? Because the ATM allows you to make a hand for .75 CP instead of the 2 that the core book requires. I was wondering which was canon?
>>
>>966232
Both are cannon, but hands normally are quick too.
>>
>>964494
I'd say that of all the mech's in the tournament, mine is probably the most likely to win, depending on the base setup (Eg, how far apart are mecha at the start.)
>>
>>966746
I would not be so sure. It is indeed strong, but I see two weak spots in the machine's body that would grant victory. Sure it has a lot of defenses, but depending on the arena, you may face situations you can't win. Sides, there are a few ways to get past your clones and active shield, especially if it's chest mounted.
>>
>>966245

This.

Fun fact about hands, I have no idea what the actual requirements for a weapon to count as a hand or a foot for Brawl purposes are, and for all I know I'm completely breaking the system by letting the Kaiser make mecha martial arts attacks with the damage bonuses added to what's already essentially an AP mace. Then again, I think it also broke when waifu bonuses gave you the Kaiser Grin. Never run an actual game of MZ the way I run this quest.
>>
>>966746
Huhuhuhuhu, This is some courage onee-san, do you already have a strategy at hand for facing the Kaiser in the end?
>>966776
Could you do it with a Dutchman?
This would be a cool fight, specialy because its you piloting it, Dutch-senpai, as you are one of our best strategists.
>>
>>966827
Relax Wong, as far as I know, rule-wise, the Kaiser is perfectly possible, as you can apply any of the multipliers for its hands and expect it to work in "Kung Fu" too.

Also, what about this>>964800?
>>
>>966831
I'd need to use the standard version. Bit of risk with it, but it's doable. The F-type in space would have a much easier time since it could exploit the Valkyrie's weakness to the fullest and I think it has just enough space for an ASP as well.
>>
>>966827
>Then again, I think it also broke when waifu bonuses gave you the Kaiser Grin.
Totally. It and the Kaiser heart are by far the most powerful of the upgrades. The Kaiser Kick and Kaiser Grasp are more situational, especially the kick. Honestly, mounting a disrupter fist on one of our bits works a lot better than the Kaiser Kick due to it having a much higher effective accuracy. It recommend it giving a bonus to some of the kick maneuvers as well.
>>966831
>Huhuhuhuhu, This is some courage onee-san, do you already have a strategy at hand for facing the Kaiser in the end?
Dump damaging rockets at range. Use a smoke rocket to prevent the drop kick.
Also, stop calling me your older sister, its creepy as fuck.
>>
>>966897
Smoke screen doesn't really work against units with ASP, and those missiles would hit the active shield first.
>>
>>966864
You do realize that an ASP isn't a hard counter to the shadow imager right? Sure, it gives you a +1 on the roll so you'd be rolling at +17, but I roll at +20 due to various shenanigans.
>>
>>966864
Also reasonably confident that we have to stick to a single setup during the entire tournament, or things will get stupid.
>>

>>966897
I was just joking a little because of our pilots '-'.
No need to get angry senpai, geez.

Also, I think that your mech would be the one of us with the most chances against Roarke, but the ASP would negate the smoke-screen and missiles can only go so far in this sort of situation, unless you score a good crit, that is.
>>
>>966920
The ASP isn't, but the blast grenades are. Likewise, the ASP beats your smoke grenades. But the real kicker is the fact I can simply bypass your active shield by getting behind you.. or to the sides since the shield is right smack dab in the middle of your frame instead of on the left or right limbs. If I take out one arm, I win.
>>
>>966951
...And you could just Pin him too, no? He can't attack with Two-handed if one of his arms is pinned down, and once you got a hold of him, smoke and clones are not a problem anymore.
>>
>>966964
Pretty much. The Dutchman uses a mix of one handed and two handed weapons with the axe being the one hander. Likewise I can just grab the beam saber and snap it in two, get lucky with the blast and sever the shield connector or destroy it that way, maybe explode a hand since that counts as a weapon. Or if it's the F-type, just fly around and pelt you with shots to your blind side until I get a crit.
>>
>>965145
right.
that defence will let it get close though
>>
>>966937
>Also, I think that your mech would be the one of us with the most chances against Roarke, but the ASP would negate the smoke-screen and missiles can only go so far in this sort of situation, unless you score a good crit, that is.
Oh, I definitely have the best chance against Roarke. He only has a +15 to the "Spot the fake" roll vs Kathrine's +20, so I actually have a good chance of surviving a single combat round against him. It might take him 6 whole actions to kill me!
>>966964
Keep in mind that I would presumably be full attacking him with my ludicrously dangerous weapon at the same time. I'm not saying that those strategies can't work, but all of them are easier said than done. For example, getting in my blind spot is all well and good, but keep in mind that the Valkyrie is faster than the Dutchman. Not by much, but you're not going to be able to endlessly kite me even if attacking didn't cut your speed in half at best. Blast Grenades are deadly, but also extremely short ranged, to the point that it will take some tricky maneuvering to force me to stop short enough to let you use them.
I absolutely can lose to any given opponent, and odds are I won't win the entire tournament simply because Murphy will show up. However, there isn't a single opponent that I expect to lose to, though the stealth mecha and the Dutchman are the two I expect to have the most trouble with, even if that ludicrously useful Logic processor gives me a bonus to spotting stealth mecha.
>>
>>967013
Well, this is all assuming rolls are similar. There's still the will of the dice to contend to.

There's always a possibility.
>>
>>967013
Well, there is also the fact that the pin would make it hard for you to move in the first place and if I grab you from behind, you would need to face me to do so. You would need 1 move to break the pin, then another to move around and face if done midair so losing that first roll would mean your next turn is skipped and I get two attacks to your back. Likewise, I don't necessarily need to finangle since while you do have other options, you still need to move close to use that melee weapon. If you go first, that means using your turn to get to me so nade. If I go first, nade distance and you will have 1 kick and 2 attacks before the back attack. This is of course without using the F-type which can move 12 MA in a single action. Your machine is good as a duelist. In a fair fight with a similarly focused set-up, your achine would do well in it's weight class and even above. It would do splendedly in defense or raids where you simply can't go for it's back or blast weapons are too risky. But in a open area or battle field, it's specialty and weaknesses are not hard to spot.
>>
>>967076
How would you even take my back anyway? You keep assuming that I'll let you behind me.
>>
>>967123
Simple. Move action. Just move to the side or fly over you, then turn around. 4-5 MA to do it tops. Easy with the Dutchman since it has 10 MA. After all, you need to be close to do your dangerous melee.. which opens you up for this.
>>
>>967154
If you think that will work, you are welcome to try. In my experience, those sorts of tricks are usually inferior to a good full attack routine.

>"How would you even take my back anyway? You keep assuming that I'll let you behind me." said Katherine in a provocative tone. "Simple, by moving." Maxwell replied while turning around to face the woman standing next to the bar."Just move to the side or fly over you, then turn around.4-5 secs to do it tops." he smiled and then continued."After all, you need to be close to do your dangerous melee... which opens you up for this.".
>Hearing such overconfidence and non-sense after all the stress of her day made she temporarily forget about all of her worries, and a smug smile appeared in her face as thought of proving him wrong on the arena. I.. have no idea how Maxwell would handle that as a prize. Just sort of seeing him win it all and screaming internally as he becomes famous and will thus either become a ship captain or challenged by anyone who wants to face the Space Jam champion.

I had to think about it a little. Morgan IIs are a bit shorter and wider than Knights, not by a significant amount, and their limbs are a slightly different shape. However, the differences aren't extreme, and if you think about where the Knight originally came from, you'll understand why. Or don't, because I'll just explain it anyway.

The Lady was mobbed by Floyd Beck, Rudolph Merrow, and a bunch of other lesser Jovian mecha. Pieces of some of the larger ones survived, and the Lady understood them well enough to replicate them with her own modifications. In short, if Jovian mecha designs are wolves, Avalonian mecha designs (besides Paladins) are dogs, members of the same family and genetically very close but the end result looks different because it followed a different path of evolution.

That aside, the Bushi/Ashigaru (I'm still undecided on which I'm using), the Kestrel conversion of a Knight into an Osano-Wo, will be a lot less individually distinctive than the original's extensively detailed frame. For instance, the mempo would be more of a faceplate, and the helmet would be more like this. Maybe it would have a beak instead of a gas mask.
>>
>>967636
Man, if Akai was to win this, I have no idea of the level of bullshit weeaboo shenanigans she would scalate to... Seriously, i think i would need to help to do it justice.
Also, Victor would be called to be First mate and Inari as the second mate or Bosun.
>>
>>967651
Are you going to keep the Light Heavy armor and weapons? The weight need adjustment, though.
Also, the Cannon needs to be remodeled... Do you accept suggestions?I could try some designs out.
And Dutch-senpai can probably come up with some cool ideas too.
>>
>>967636

Maxwell is actually kind of an easy situation. Right now, Roarke needs people who can actually manage other people, which someone who runs an orphanage can do. If he wins, Roarke might put him in charge of a colony. It's not as portable a prize, but it's a high position in a budding society and it puts him to useful work. Even pirate towns need mayors, and a respected ace can keep pirates in line better than your typical bureaucrat.

By the way, remind me of the Dutchman's origin, I feel like it was originally a Lunar design but I'm not entirely sure.

We are talking about the Ashigarus, right?
Gundam head is the more "STORM DRAGON" option with no doubts.

But brave head would be more faithful to the original japanese theme, if it was to be like a replica of a japanese mask or something.

Twin eye could be good half-way option... While the rest would just be artistic interpretations on the original design.

Shouldn't we let Oda choose it, though? The original design was made by him... And it would make some sense to have our "japanese specialist" on the case.
>>

Hey /mspq/, I have a question.

Do the statistical enhancement systems stack if I assign them to different servos?

Suggestion: Coversion of the original Lance-Cannon to:
Handheld Tanegashima: Range 350m, WA 0, 6K, BV 2, Ammo 10 bursts, 9 CP, 9,9 Spaces, 3 tons.
Ammo:
One 10 Bursts "Tracer" Clip (WA+1): 2,7CP
One 10 Bursts "AP" Clip(Armor Penetration):3,6CP

Total:15,3CP

Feel free to ignore, but I'm worried that a normal pilot will have a hard time to take advantage of the BV4 when the normal autocannon has WA-1... This is the sort of thing that isn't much of a problem to an ace, but could not work as effectively in a mook hands.

It was indeed Lunar based. The Dutchman's original name was the Pawn II, a early model Medium Striker designed for cleaning up greenman messes and torching them. Wasn't really good for anything other than it's drudgery, but the Frame was eventually picked up and the base was used for the Chessboard Project, local Lunar developers sprucing up the old frame and making it useful. The Cardinal would likely be the most successful thing the project put out before the Knightingale's failed testing ended catastrophically. The Pawn II was a side project of that lead by some old faces of the original Pawn team who wanted to show it some proper love and respect. It was designed to be a more adaptable trooper than the original, using the Quick Change mounts for quick battlefield repairs, easy customization, and both a proper thruster portfolio and better armor. Less a death trap and more a proper machine to protect and aid it's pilots. Sadly, it was sort of pushed to the side due to a mix of it's direct link to the Pawn(who's common name was due to pilots saying 'If you get to the other end of the combat zone, you deserve a promotion', it's conflict with the general project(The Chessboard was suppose to use the base frame to make Specialists for their fields, while the Pawn II spat on that and laughed.), and just general budget issues and complications.

In the end, it was a Passion project led by a passionate man, who wanted to see his machine truly thrive and be respected for what it was and became really bitter about the whole thing when it was left to the wayside for other works. I was originally thinking of naming it the Revenge due to that, but I liked the Dutchman better. Here's a picture f the design if you so wish to use it. Have no name for him though.

Huh, this would be interesting to Walter. A captain and ship wouldn't be something he would be interested in as that would be too much to manage. The money, he'd take, but that would also be more than what he could want.

Honestly, he's there to test skills more than anything, so if he won, he would probably get what he needs to upgrade the Buddy, and give the rest to the other contestants.

Hell, I would think given a very good reason, he'd give the Buddy away.

I'm not sure if that would actually be a promotion or a demotion for Kathrine. Also, I was reviewing some old threads and it seems that we'll have 39 "Bushi"s after Karen and Cohen are done with them.

How should we distribute them between our ships?

I have a few ideas about that.

1- We could just distribute them equally, 4 per ship, and give the remaining 3 to either the Rhinehawk(Main ship) or the Yamato(As a present to Oda for his design and seniority)... Or maybe even to one of our new ships to increase their battle capacity.

2-We could Give 25 of them to be the new Stone Soldiers's mechs and distribute 2 per ship... Leaving one of the ships (Probably the first avalonian that is already filled with Knights) without them...

3-Spread the 39 as 8 per crews, leaving the Cleander, Goshawk and the Avalonians without acess to them.

4-Just fill the new Avalonian ship with them as they were Knights anyway.

Meet the Terrier, it was designed as the notional main line unit of some independent system. No space efficiency, no weight efficiency, no backup sensors, slow compared to most mecha, no energy weapons. Frankly the only interesting thing about it is its low weight and its heavy rocket, a combination that ironically makes it more threatening to most aces than the more expensive bluegill despite being largely inferior.

We could just weld 4 harpies together and get 100 super harpies.

Obviously that was meant to be a 3.

People who unironically like Zeon designs have shit taste.
>>
>>971530
I don't really care for Zeon designs myself, being a Federation Hooligan of the worst sort, but I can understand how people could like them. Even I can admit the Kampfer would be fantastic if it was just bloody symmetrical. One would even say it'd be... Amazing.
>>
>>971542
Same, I don't like a lot of Zeon suits myself, but the Kampfer somehow manages to be the one I love.
>>
>>971562
>>971542
The Federation inspired Zeon designs are great, which makes it all the odder that the Zeon inspired Federation designs are largely terrible.
>>
>>971577
Thats because general Feddie designs are terrible. The GM is bland and doesn't change much over it's variations, the Guntank makes the Zaku tank look good, and then we have the Ball. I honestly cannot see the appeal of the Federation base designs.
>>
>>971600
I like the GM, though the GM 3 is the best of that family. Mind you my favorite Federation Designs are largely from Unicorn. The Jesta and ReGZ are amazing. In General, I favor Federation designs over Zeon designs.
>>
>>971606
Except it's uninspired. 'Take a gundam, remove it's head and give it a visor one' and you get a GM. Maybe you add a bit more armor or some stuff, but at the end of the day, they are just mass produced gundams minus any of the bits that make gundams interesting. With the Zeon stuff, you do get some variety and general changes of the structure that lead to some oddities, but also some gems. The portfolios can also be different enough that you could tell them apart as well.
>>
>>971530
Come on man, you know thats wrong
>>
>>971626
The Vanilla GM is a bit plain, but once you get into the variants and successors it gets a lot more interesting.

All the variants are are recolored gms with different systems
>>
>>971646
Except thats due to the fact that the suits in general get more interesting. Even if thats the case they tend to be the most basic of whats available. I mean compare the Unicorn GMs to the Unicorn gundams with their glowing tron lines. Then you have the Sleeve machines that stand out either due to their builds, ornamentation, or weaponry. Not a big fan of the Zulu mind you. In the end they are just filler. Designed to not stand out compared to the enemy or the hero. It's as generic as you can get.
>>
>>971650
And higher art budgets that take away a lot of the plainness.
>>
>>971626
Makes sense from a design standpoint: you have the good guys having the more uniform and human-like mobile suits (apart from oddities like the Ball, but that's more of an "Oh shit we need guns in space fast, let's take these construction workers, give them a gun, and push them over there" kind of thing)
Plus, they are plain as to not stand out to the Gundam, yeah.

And the bad guys have the not so human-looking things so that you can associate them as "the bad guys".

From a business standpoint, it makes sense one side should be uniform with the ability to make modifications: makes the molds easier and cheaper to design and produce so that you can save the money for the more different looking suits that will take some time and money to create.

Makes sense story-wise, as the Federation did have an overall disadvantage in mobile suit tech at the beginning and just wanted a design that can be made easily and quick enough to shove a fuck ton of them. If they needed a specialized unit, making one out of scratch was too time consuming and costly when they could just slap stuff onto one specific frame.

Zeon, on the other hand, had more time to branch out and make specialized suits, at the cost of either not getting them out in time or not having much, or both.
>>
>>971673
And those points make sense and are reasonable. It's part of why I like Zeon because they tried variations both mild and crazy for everything. We need Zakus for earth? Make the J-type. Need a more specialized ground unit? Gouf. You even get odd designs like the Jaburo busters as they try to figure out a way to deal with them. The Feds tried that as well, but they mostly fell flat, like the Ground Gundam that had overheating problems on it's own home field.
>>
Zeon > Federation

But even the Feds have their likeable designs choices.

On another note... I know that making the Rocs was a good call anyway as the harpies have become almost obsolete for combat and it lets the Bluegills shine again by occupying the harpies's old spot for raiding and such...

But do they have any real combate chance with anybody? I mean... The Bluegills are at the bottom of what normally shows up for jovian mechs, and the rocs mobility bonus adds almost nothing to their combat abilities... What will keep them from jobbing to any mechs bigger than them?

I know they can use mobbing tatics, but i doubt that we will have the numbers for that in most of our raids at this time.
>>
>>971754
Well, the thing you need to realize is that not all fights have to be straight up slug fests. A Roc's high mobility means it can do hit and run tactics, pursue the enemy, and get away. Sturdy enough to not die from a blast or most light weapons, while still being a good unit.
>>
>>971771
Can also lure the knights with their terrible mobility. Incidentally, does anyone have the Roc's stats?
>>
>>971771
Probably the smartest idea would be going over the schematics of both knights and Pumpkinseeds and looking to see what they should be weak against. I mean Roarke should have both schematics from all the ones he's captured
>>
>>971771
There is a little problem with that, the fact that they have the sameranged weapons as any Bluegill/Pumpkinseed/PumpkinseedsII and because of this have the same range as them and will have to get into enemy range prior to firing...

>>971801
Wong already confirmed that they have the same stats as Bluegills, but with a head-mount in which they hold their ranged option.
They may or may not have wings though, this I'm not certain about.
Still, the ranged situation still applies...

For shits and giggles I went ahead and made a XL version of the Wraith more in line to what I had originally envisioned before the crushing reality of CP costs set in and my soul became weighed down by gravity

>>
>>971834
Looks like you forgot the combat cloak. Might make it hard to recloak after the first time.
>>
>>971847
That would make fore a hilarious X0.8 modifier bringing the Total CP to a whopping 285.543
126.956 of that being devoted to the Stealth system alone, basically the cost of an entire tournament mech
As far as I understand as long as it stay out of optimal target range for most mechs bringing the Cloak back up shouldn't be overly problematic
>>
>>971872
Speaking of things with Hilarious modifiers
A Harpy Shinobi with a full Cloak system and Jet mode transformation would have a X1.1 modifier
>>
>>971885
The Base Harpy with no gear and full Cloak costs 117 CP
A Harpy with full load-out and the full Cloak system cost 155.7 CP
Now thats using the load-out from Wongs Rouges gallery so the CP cost would vary a little from Shinobi to Shinobi based on slight gear changes

I didn't read about how to create ships in this system yet... But I remember that the Tern can store up to 20 mechs at a time, could this one do that?

No, he was using a transport ship. I'll stat it as soon as I find my copy of Mekton Zeta. I only have the ATM right now.

I'm making that Kaiser MP as I promised, but I think that I need a little help with a decision here.

Choose:
>[Arm-Mounted]Kaiser Shields x2: DA -2, SP 8(Officer Armor), 12 CP, 1 Space, 4 tons.
OR
>[Arm-Mounted]Kaiser Shields x2: DA 0, SP 8, 12 CP, 1 Space, 4 tons.
OR
>[Arm-Mounted]Kaiser Shields x2: DA -1, SP 8(Officer Armor), 15 CP, 1 Space, 4 tons.(But no ASP).

Also, It doesn't have Beta Armor, But it is capable of doing damage even to mechs with Gamma Armor.

I'm also making a Kaiser Zaku for late christmas as a present to Dutch-senpai... But I'll wait for your decision on the Kaiser Shiled's before posting it.
>>
>>976285
The Da 0 shields with no officer armor are likely best. In most cases we use those shields against big hits, not small ones, so it would be the same for the mp variants.
>>
>>976299
But isn't having no beta armor at all a dangerous thing as you leave a opening to be ablated to death?
>>
>>976455
That can indeed happen, but the thing is, you also have issues with things like the pumpkin seed II's missile. That +3 makes thing hard already and a -2 shield will mean that chances are you WILL miss the parry. Not only that, but you have two shields. So long as you didn't mess up the dodge too much, the number of missiles actually hitting you would be small. In the end, that -2 hurts way too much for parrying, and with two shields the weight would likely give a penalty or two already so I'd rather have shields that can do their jobs than shields that have a bigger chance of not doing them when I need them.
>>
>>976500
Yeah, you may be right on this, in fact, it is much more dangerous to be vulnerable to a Pumpkinseed IIs missile spam than ablating at this point, as ablating-users are still rare and being out-numbered by lesser mecha isn't exactly are difficult thing for this type of mecha to deal with...

Also, what do we know about Psyche-16 producting capabilities? I remember that the ATM had I rule about mass-producing mecha... Based on that, how much should we expect to be able to produce daily? Is some sort of estimative possible?
>>
>>976560
Well, for a prototype, it's 50 CP made every 4 days. Once they know how to make that, 50 cp every 2 days. Get a assembly line going, and thats 50 cp a day. Considering this place was used to design and make stuff like the Megabass, they likely have the stuff needed for a ton of assembly lines. We just need to re-purpose them for line mechs.
As for calculated numbers? Hmm, Assuming an normal factory has 2 maybe 3 at most, I can see Psyche having 10-15 tops considering it's size and facilities. Depends on what Wong says on it. The tricky bit will be getting the guys putting it together. DC 15 isn't too bad if you are skilled, hell I can see Karen run a few lines on her own, but if the Kestrel engineer corps isn't good, we may have to look for more.
>>
>>976583
Heh.... My expectatives is that he is going to say that only a few of them are functional and that we'll need to get the materials to repair them before being able to use its max potential...

Well... Assuming that we begin with at least 3 of them... That would result on 1 Bushi per day... 5 Rocs for each 4 days... Or maybe 3 Shinobi Harpies for each 2 days... I Wonder in what we should focus on producing at this point, as we are in a dire need for numbers but the recent advance in mecha capacity worries me that anything under Pumpkinseed IIs level will be just cannon fodder.

also, what do you plan on using the new Osano-Wos? What about giving them to the Stone Soldiers?
>>

>>976629
We'd have to tool up its design to look alot less weebish. Maybe something like the Geara Zulu
>>
>>976629
A thing to consider is that while we will be doing lots of construction, it does not have to be full scale. Remodeling and alterations of frames can make new machines much cheaper if we are 'trading up' or doing a side upgrade. Osano-Wos(Yojimbos, Ashigaru, or Bushi) use heavy striker frames after all, and knights can provide those. Upgrading harpies to shinobis would be cheaper than making new harpy shinobis, and the same goes with Bluegills to Rocs. In a way, treat every machine we capture whole scale as a major discount to turn it into one of our personal machines.
