Hearing Anabel's demand, I decide that now would be a good time to be somewhere else. The sight of several trainers rappelling to the snow enhances that desire.

While the police are occupied with Giovanni, I pick up the bag containing my files and slink off into the blizzard.

Using my powers to deflect the worst of the blizzard, I travel through snowy valleys and around icy crevasses, taking in the world around me with a sense of awe and wonder.

The only thing detracting from the experience is a sense of being watched that won't go away. Psychically scanning the area reveals nothing but a muted iciness with the occasional pokemon scurrying around in the distance.

As time goes by, the blizzard grows stronger, as does the feeling of being watched, until I have to put effort into keeping the storm away.

Slowly, I feel an unfamiliar weakness, not in my mind, but in my body. When a rumbling sound emanates from my belly, my priorities shift from exploration and escaping to survival.

I duck into the lee of a boulder and expand my mind out, searching for presences. I can sense a pair of humans further down the mountain, a group of pokemon somewhere ahead and a lone pokemon ahead and up the mountain a bit. As I consider my options, the lone presence dims slightly.

>Head for the humans as humans have food.

>Head for the group of pokemon because the humans might want to capture me.

>Head for the lone pokemon because they need help.

I'll hang around for 15 more minutes before heading to sleep if there are no votes.

least amount of risk. We can ask them if they know where to find food and if they're hostile we'd have the least amount of trouble dealing with them... presumably.

Also glade you're not dead Awake. just very very sleepy it seems.

I'm not sure why I even pretend that I have time to update during the day. I'm back and writing.

Deciding that heading for the lone pokemon carries the least amount of risk, I focus back on keeping the weather away and start trudging forward and upwards. I feel a sense of suprise from whatever is watching and the distracting feeling of being watched vanishes.

Every so often, I have to duck behind a rocky outcrop to locate the pokemon and check that I'm heading in the right direction. The pokemon appears to be moving in slow, small circles, weakening as it goes.

Eventually I crest the ridge that I've been climbing up for the last half hour and find myself looking about thirty metres down into an icy canyon with a gale-force wind being funnelled up into a large icefall blocking the canyon near the top. When I stop to scan the area, I can feel the pokemon's presence just behind the blockage.

Travelling along the canyon's edge, I come to the blockage and see the problem. The icefall has formed a wall across the canyon and a small white fox is trapped behind it along with a couple of frost-encrusted Yache shrubs, although I can't make out the berries from here to grab them. I attempt to talk to the pokemon, but in my current cold, hungry and exhausted state I can't quite reach it from up here.

Another gust of ice-laden wind blasts up the canyon, making me shiver and the fox flinch as a few large lumps of ice come tumbling down from the blockage and crash into the ground next to the berry shrubs.

As far as my options are concerned, I can either slide down the icefall and attempt to rescue the creature (and the berries) myself or swallow my pride and head off to psychically call for the nearby group of pokemon to come and help.

>Help the pokemon myself.
>Call for help from the nearby group.

Seeing the ice coming tumbling down gives me an idea. I start carefully lowering myself down to the top of the blockage. Giving one of the lumps on top of the wall a carefully calculated shove, I send another ice boulder tumbling down to the bottom of the canyon with a few shunts to direct it to exactly where I want it.

When the boulder crashes into the ground, the fox looks up and sees me. When I shove another boulder down the slope, it looks at me like I'm insane and runs off to the back of the canyon, as far away from me as it can go. It's not until I shove the third or fourth boulder down the slope that it gets what I'm doing and fires shards of ice to help me build my impromptu stairs.

With a final shove, I finish off the staircase and hop down to the bottom. Who are you? And how did you end up trapped here? I ask the Pokemon.

It replies 'I'm Vulpix and I was gathering berries when there was a large crack and a huge torrent of ice came crashing down and trapped me in.'

With that, I pull some berries off the shrub and eat them, enjoying the succulent juicy taste. Vulpix watches me for a bit before bounding up the impromptu stairs and waiting for me at the top.

I pick up the rest of the berries and float them up with me as I climb out the canyon. Vulpix says 'The others should be grateful that I'm back and so offer you food and a place to stay for the night. Just don't mind the grouchy attitude.'

With that, Vulpix bounds off into the snow, expecting me to follow.

I barely manage to keep up with Vulpix as it bounds through the snow, whereas I'm slowed down by sinking into the snow and having to hold the weather back.

Eventually I arrive at the entrance to a hidden cave and am lead in by the overly excitable Vulpix. We're only about ten metres in before we round the corner into a group of five Ninetails. There's a lot of discussion going on between Vulpix and the lead Ninetails, but after a while, I'm told 'As thanks for saving Vulpix, we'll give you a place to stay for the night and some provisions for your journey.'

Vulpix looks sad at this result and leads me to a sleeping area where the strain of the days travel catches up to me and I promptly fall asleep.

In the morning, I'm awoken by a Ninetales dropping a pile of berries in my room and telling me to eat and then report to the elders.

Confused I comply and follow my guide to a large cavern with several ancient looking Ninetails gathered in a circle.

When they notice that I'm here, they motion me into the middle and ask me: "In all our combined memories, we've never seen a pokemon like you before. Where do you come from and what are you called?

>Tell them everything
>Tell them my name and leave out the fact I was created in the Rocket base.

We pretty cleanly severed all ties with them anyways.

I'm back and able to run longer tonight. Update in 15.

I tell them "I go by the name of Mewtwo, and I come from nowhere. I merely wander, seeking to explore new places and test my strengths."

There is some muted muttering amongst the elders as they discuss my words. I can catch muted snippets of conversation, but not much more.

"-How can we trust a pokemon who doesn't have a home?-"

"-It saved young Vulpix, even when tired and starving. No bad pokemon would do that.-"

The deliberations continue for a few minutes until the oldest Ninetails steps forward and announces.

"We simply do not have enough food for you to stay for an extended length of time. That being said, we would like to show our gratitude for your help and decided that the best way to do so is to help you on your way. We will provide you with enough food to last you two days, as well as a guide to help you reach wherever you want to go."

Proclamation made, the elders motion me to leave and start discussing other matters. I'm shown back to the sleeping area, where a small pile of berries are waiting next to my bag. The ninetails who's been leading me around tells me, "Wait here, Your guide will be arrive shortly." before turning around and marching out.

As I pack the berries into my bag, I ponder my few goals right now, and which one I should pursue first.

>Find my parent, the mythical pokemon Mew.
>Find out the limits of my strength.
>Find out more about my origins and the others involved in my creation.

Whichever one I choose though, getting off this mountain is my first priority.

The humans will try to come back for Mewtwo, and it's best to know whatever weaknesses they already know and cover for them.

Power will be needed to do the other two, anyway.

Deciding that my priority should be to become as strong as possible to bot prevent myself from being captured, as well as accomplish my other goals.

As I finish packing, the ninetales from before comes back with Vulpix hopping along happily behind her. "Seeing as Vulpix owes you a debt, the elders decided that the best and simplest course of action is to make her your guide." Her voice softens and she continues as a forepaw reaches out to ruffle Vulpix's head. "Please take care of the little tyke, we Ninetails are quite fond of her." With that the ninetails leaves, leaving me alone with Vulpix, who is vibrating with excitement.

When she is sure that the older ninetales is out of earshot, Vulpix shouts. "This is awesome! I get to go out and see the world with a super-powerful and super nice pokemon! Where do you want to go? What kind of pokemon do you think we'll meet? What other cool things can you do? Let's go now!" Theres a pause as Vulpix stops to catch its breath and once it's caught it, she sheepishly asks "What's your name? I can't remember it."

I shrug and tell her. "I'm called Mewtwo, I can move things with my mind, as well as use a wide variety of different moves in battle. I have no idea what kinds of pokemon we'll meet as we travel." I give the information time to sink in before continuing.

"I'd like to become even stronger than I am now. Is there an especially strong pokemon around here?"

Vulpix gasps in shock and says "You can't fight Articuno! It controls all the snow and ice around here, and can summon blizzards even stronger than the one you rescued me from with a single flap of its wings."

My pride wants me to immediately seek out and challenge this pokemon, but my common sense intervenes and urges me to seek out weaker opponents for now.

"Is there anyone less ridiculous I can challenge?" I ask Vulpix.

"Most humans are up for a fight if that's what you want. There's even some that won't try to capture you over that way. They even have a place where they heal you up, as well as the place being surrounded by strong pokemon."

"Take me there then." I ask Vulpix, who yells "Yes! I won't let you down."

With Vulpix showing the way, we make rapid progress towards our destination. Just as the building comes into sight, a collection of sharp ice-laden pokemon spring out the ground to block our way.
