This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You're a Chunin of notable talent for your age. You're currently eating dinner with a friend.

Mari takes a long drink of her soda, setting aside the paper wrapping of your straw. She spins the straw around, clinking the ice. "You know, when I'd first met you in the training fields, I was sure I wasn't ever gonna see you again. I thought to myself 'He got one over me, but that's all he could do. I'd beat him in any /real/ fight.."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyIeL-KyO2A

Suddenly, she squeezes the glass she's holding tightly. You can see sparks in her eyes as she reminisces about past battles. "I was thinking about asking you the same kinda questions you've asked me, but I feel like I already know the answers. I started asking the teachers in the Academy about you when I realized we'd be fighting in the tournament, if you won your first match."

You smile. "Really? I can't ever imagine someone fretting about beating me up, like I do with other people." It's never really occurred to you that others could see you as a bit of a rival character. It makes more sense when you note you're the only Chunin right now from your class.

"So what'd they tell you, the teachers?" you ask.

She rolls her eyes. "Nothing useful. Takeshi's a nice, quiet, studious boy blah blah...They all said you seemed soft, too. That part surprised me."

You shrug. "Well, at that point I was pretty much untested, right?"

Mari nods, sighing. "Yeah, I guess. It's weird how quickly you've changed. I know boys are supposed to hit puberty later than girls, but you're really starting to bloom."

She says this almost absentmindedly, and gives you an annoyed look when she catches you smiling with a big grin. "You think I'm-"

Before you can finish this thought, she pushes a balled up napkin in your mouth. "Watch it. I'm sure it'd be easy for me to take you down a peg or two."

You spit out the napkin. "Well, let's eat first at least."

The cook sets down two steaming hot plates of pork, rice, and vegetables.

She makes a small 'Hmph' noise. "Fine. But, don't complain when you have an upset stomach.."

As the two of you are eating your delicious meals, the flatscreen television hanging in the kitchen is displaying the video that the Jashinists released. You know that they're Jashinists, but they're all wearing black featureless masks. Presumably speaking through voice distortion. The TV is on caption mode, so for now you choose to ignore it instead of trying to pay attention to your food, the TV, and Mari.

She sighs, next to you. "I just don't know what to think about all this stuff happening over at the mist."

"Well, one thing's for sure. The news probably doesn't know any better than us."

She grins. "Heh, that's true. The international news journalists never set foot on the actual battlefields. Of course, I don't think anyone could blame them. Ninja don't like to be recorded."

You munch a mouthful of broccoli and pork. It's incredibly savory. You're frankly surprised that you've never had this particular meal before. Whenever you came to Ichiraku's, it was always for the ramen. "That's certainly true.."

Looking up and over your shoulder, you make sure no one else is listening. "There's also the fact that the Jashinists have been known to manipulate media. I can't really tell you anything specific, Mari, but..I'd take anything to do with the Mist with a grain of salt."

She looks over at you with wide eyes. "Eh?? You know something?"

You nod, looking down at your food. Frankly you can't help but feel prideful, like some sort of secret agent. "Mhm, but it's only because of my past experiences with that cult. But like I said.."

She groans. "Guh, well now I'm curious! I'm gonna have to start bothering Lee-Sensei for higher ranking missions if I wanna keep up in the intelligence department. Maybe next time I'll lead you on, eh?"

You chuckle.

You rub the back of your head. You're about done with your meal now, and so is she. "Heh, I'm sure you'll catch up some day. I mean, I'm still surprised I beat you honestly. Someone like Sarada or Boruto, I'd-"

She slaps the back of your head. Not very hard, but more to catch your attention. "What are you talking about!? You're the one who's actually a Chunin, you know."

This just pushes your embarrassment further. "W-Well, there's nothing really all that special about me. One day all you guys are gonna surpass me I think."

Mari turns her nose up, and stands up, taking a step out into the street. You pay for the food, leaving behind a sizeable tip. Getting up to follow her, you find her standing in the middle of the rode with her hands on her hips. "That's not a fair thing to say. You don't even realize it, but that attitude is why you're in this position.."

She turns around and glares at you, her white eyes full of fire like the day you'd first met her. "Hmph. I mean, really! Just who the hell do you think you are? You're no one. So, you work harder than anyone to be someone."

Your friend starts to walk towards you, pointing a finger and nagging. "Why don't you ever think about how the rest of us feel, huh?! Maybe the leader of our class, should.."

She looks over, and notices that you've already paid for both of the meals. "H-hey! I was gonna.."

Mari looks back to you, her brow quickly furrowing into an angry glare. At this point, you're far too confused by her sudden erratic behavior. You were just trying to be nice!

Suddenly she stomps forward, and grabbing you by the scruff of your shirt and pulling you towards her. "I probably could beat you in a one on one fight right now, but that's not the point. You should.."

She pushes you back, and frowns. "Don't you think if you acted a little more like a hero sometimes, you'd feel more like one?"

This cuts you a little deeper than you expected. The accomplishments that you've earned have all come with equal hardships, but what's important is that you've always tried your hardest to overcome them.

She rubs her arm. "Uh..Sorry about that. Thanks for paying for my dinner, even though I was gonna do that anyway. I'mmm gonna head home myself now. Goodnight."

Mari runs away without giving you a chance to really respond. You stand there, considerably taken aback. You're not entirely sure what she's specifically talking about, but there may be a bit of wisdom to draw from her words even so.

You turn, and go home. The Leaf is quiet and calm in the early night, and you're fairly tired. After a full night's sleep you think you'll be in proper condition for some more serious training tomorrow.

Acting more like a hero, huh? Should we point to the sky and make dramatic speeches more often?

Tonight, as you sleep, you don't have any nightmares. It's a full rest from top to bottom, and though you awaken stiff, you're ready for a new day. When you get out of bed, you take the time to stretch your whole body. Your face might still be a tad tender from getting punched, but otherwise you're in great shape again. It's a little surprising how quickly you've recovered, in fact.

As you usually do, you go through a series of basic exercises. Push ups and sit ups, more for activating your muscles and warming up for the day. You go through the jabbing drills that you've been taught and sweep a leg kick against an invisible foe, before jumping back up.

Once you're done, you shower off the sweat.

You quickly whip up a light breakfast afterwards, and spot your brother happily sleeping. He's halfway hanging off the couch in the living room, head on the floor.

The weather outside is a little chillier than you've been used to lately, so you go to your closet to pick out a jacket.

Maybe not something that flamboyant right away

Mari was mostly referring to general confidence. She was expecting you to be more sure of yourself, but you weren't really like that. She felt embarrassed about it, and you kept pushing it accidentally by being nice.

Basically she thinks it's lame that you're not being a big hero man, but she also understands why you're not. So she just feels silly and yet again you're making her question what she thinks being a ninja is about by accident
>>
>>940759
So we should act more like a Kakashi or Minato than an Ashura incarnation?
>>
>>940768
You should act however you want. It's just that your dedication to being so humble so far is unusual for someone your age.

Well, someone your age with your accomplishments. Your peers don't necessarily understand your adult-like motivations of maturity, despite all of you being soldiers.

Mari is realizing that's what's setting her apart from you in a way, and that's a bit frustrating for her.
>>
>>940729
>B. The dark green one with an ash gray stripe on the shoulders
>>
>>940768
I think we should just stop being so humble about being good at our job.
That's what being a ninja is after all, based on our conversation with Sadararara and the Owl.
We are ninja because we are good at it.
We fight because its our job to fight and if we can help people in the process even better.
We aren't the big damn hero our peers think we should be or act like.
We are the up and coming hero that tries to get shit done.
That's how i see it anyway.
>>
>>940775
So basically because we're treating this like an adult and not a glory hound like an actual ninja, she's starting to see what makes us different?
>>
>>940826
yeah that's a good way to summarize it
>>
You slip on the navy blue jacket, with two white stripes on the shoulders. It's a bit reminiscent of the clothes your brother wears, as well as the garb of the Second Hokage.

Stepping out the door, you're glad you've put it on. There's a deeper chill in the air than you expected, and a coating of mist over the Leaf. It's fairly early, and you've got the whole day to yourself. As far as you know, you have time off until someone calls you for a briefing mission. After the last one turning out poorly, you imagine that they'll give you a bit of rest.

Of course, rest to you just means training. Where would you like to go?

>A. The academy
>B. The training fields
>C. Visit Kichiro. He should be home by now
>D. Look for your sensei
>E. Go see if Shikadai is home
>F. Go to the Hokage's office
>G. Go somewhere else
>>
>>940828
Simple fact is, we don't wanna die or let our friends die. Showboating or being overconfident will cause this. So will underestimating any enemy. Hell, we've directly killed people who treated us that way.

Well, all Jashinists want to get close to you so they can get a bit of your blood. Most all of the elites know how to do the ritual where shared injury takes place.
>>
>>940858
>>B. The training fields
Its inevitable.
I just hope we find someone on the way that we can spar or train with.
>>
First thing's first, you make your way to the training fields. On your way there you decide to lightly jog, and get yourself properly warmed up again. You never know who could be there also wanting to train. The normally bright green grass has a coating of frost, and you can see your breath. You imagine that your nose is starting to turn a little bit red, as well.

Once you get there, you look around. It doesn't seem like anyone else is here for the moment, so you have the opportunity to do some real solo work. You've a a LOT of techniques that you could prepare to learn at the moment. Most all of them you have some manner of research in, so in theory you could spend the whole day here.

How do you want to start? Your taijutsu could always use more work. You need human test subjects for False Sense: Fatigue, and Diagnosis Pulse. An animal wouldn't have the same levels of stamina, and you wouldn't want to capture it. However you could still train the Chakra Scalpel technique. There's also the Temple of Nirvana scroll, and the Summoning Scroll. With the Temple of Nirvana you could put all the animals in the area to sleep, possibly.

>>
>>941074
I wouldn't say he is boring. There is something pretty awesome about a regular guy standing with, and even surpassing, the crazy cast of mary sue prodigies Bortuto contains. It's almost like a puzzle game figuring out how to keep up. Not to mention, Takeshi is a genuinely nice guy that everyone gets suspicious of.

Wrong quest nigga
>>
>>941119
I don't see the issue with this. Whats wrong with playing a humble guy that works for his talent? Paralyzing, poisoning, and setting traps is what a ninja would most likely do. We don't have to contain a physical demon, blast huge balls of fire, or have a set of mystical eyes to be effective, and playing each fight as a more intricate puzzle seems a lot more fun to me.
>>
>>941119
Not everyone fights the same

Our fighting style revolves around weapons/tricks and genjustu

Most other revolve around ninjutsu

We also don't have a kek gen

As for our personality, in a era of hyper aggressive competitive assholes, that is kind of refreshing

Also lead to hillarous things like salads infinite foil works

Shit, you're right. Sorry Mini.

I know Mini doesn't like them, but if they ever do show up, forcing Momoshiki into absorbing Kinshiki because he's been poisoned would be pretty impressive.

You roll open the scroll at your feet, deciding to get to work on Summoning. The truth is that you've been rather nervous to begin practicing the technique, knowing it may be quite difficult. The handsigns for the jutsu are few, and take you only a moment to warm up to once you remember your practice from yesterday.

In moments you're repeatedly forming them, getting used to the sensation of the chakra flowing through in this particular mold. Once you're capable of firing them off in rapid sequence you take a small break.

After just a minute or two, and a drink of water, you take a kunai from your weapon's pouch.

You make a small cut on your thumb, and drag a bloody swipe across your hand.

Once you fire off the handsigns, you focus your chakra through the mold and let it explode from your palm. As instructed by the scroll, you try to charge the most chakra you can into the technique in order to summon the best creature. At once, you can feel all of your stamina and chakra being drained. The sudden suction is so powerful that you're shocked. It would be effortless to dump all of your energy into the technique at once, and leave yourself broken. You have to snap the connection before too much of your pool is consumed. You think you must have used enough Chakra to power an A ranked technique, the sudden drain making you knees shake slightly.

The energy is released in a cloud of smoke and air as you tense, and your hair is blasted back.

There are a few moments of silence.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIkE66w3zX4&index=50&list=PLF7A13C44809B5893

You look down, and in front of you rests what seems to be a mostly normal look great horned owl. It turns to you, cocking it's head to the side and grumbling. "Hmm..So I'm the first, huh?"

Blinking, you grin. "Uh..hello."

The owl swings it's wings wide open, and turns. On it's back you notice there's a small pouch tied to him, through a leather harness. He looks over his shoulder. "My name's Danpei, 42 years old! I'm the youngest member of the owls who are ready for combat. Really, I'm supposed to make you chase me or something, but seeing as you had to go out of the way to get this contract in the first place.."

You look down, still a bit put off. The owl seems a bit distracted. His voice is surprisingly deep, and gravelly.

The smaller creature looks up at you. "Uh, anyway. What do you need?"

You shrug. "I was training the jutsu. I didn't want to try out for the first time in the middle of combat, hehe.."

It nods. "Well, that's probably a smart choice..I was there when you visited our village, though you probably didn't notice among all my brothers and sisters. I may be small, but I'm plenty capable."

You grin, wondering what your new ally is capable of. "Really?? What can you do?"
>>
>>941199

It hops forward next to you. "Look in my pack. If you ever get lost, I've got a survival kit. There's a compass, dry rations, water, and a lighter."

You check inside the bag, and sure enough everything is there. In an emergency situation you could always have him grab you supplies from the owl home base. He hops away. "In addition to that, I know the Wind Bullet Jutsu. I'm also an excellent scout. My eyes may be like that of your village's Byakugan, in terms of clarity. If you ever need me to poop on someone you don't like, all you have to do is give me some snacks. Don't tell anyone I told you that though."

You nod. "I see. That all sounds very useful. Is there any sort of time limit on how long you can stay?"

He looks around the training fields, examining the area. "If I get critically injured, or bored, I'll head back. Our main motivation for assisting you is that us owls owe something to Hokage and former Hokage, for allowing us to live in their lands undisturbed. However.."

He keeps hopping forward, so that you have to follow him to hear. He seems to be going over to the small pond, to dunk his head in.

He shakes it off and looks back up. "If you someone some of my larger brothers or sisters, you're gonna have to earn their respect. They're a bit older, so they'll be a little harder to reason with. The real pricks know riddles."

You chuckle. "Something tells me you're not quite like the rest."

The owl moves his wings in a way that seems oddly close to a human shrug. "As part of the younger generation, we tend to be a little more liberal."

He turns to you. "So! Now that you've summoned me, would you mind if I went back home?"

>You slip on the navy blue jacket, with two white stripes on the shoulders. It's a bit reminiscent of the clothes your brother wears, as well as the garb of the Second Hokage.

Is probably more pragmatic, like Tobirama.

>The dark green one with an ash gray stripe on the shoulders

Would have been more stoic, like Kakashi.

>The burgundy one with a black stripe on the shoulders

Would have been more carefree yet dogmatic, like Hashirama.

That's just my guess.

You wave. "That's all. Thanks for explaining all that. I'm sure I'll be seeing you around soon enough."

Danpei salutes with his wing, responding in a monotone voice. "Later, kid."

He vanishes in a puff of smoke. You sit down and let your stamina come back to you after about fifteen minutes. Once you're rested up, you stand and get into the pace of a light jog. The training field is big enough that you can go in a circle while still having a long straight stretch.

Once you're in the rhythm of running, you start to break out into sprints. You go from one end to the other, trying to reach your top speed each time. It's not easy at all to go full blast like this, and your ribs ache from their soreness. Sweat starts to appear on your forehead.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvQkl7qa6RQ

For whatever reason, you're suddenly reminded of Shozuku as you're put under physical stress. He's probably doing the same thing, now that you think about it. Someone his age, being so good. He must live his life to kill and fight. Your grip tightens and your thudding feet dig into the dirt harder, kicking off more explosively with your heels for greater speed. You hunker down slightly lower, trying to keep your movements tight and rapid.

You stop and slide for several feet, turning and putting your finger tips against the dirt and grass before kicking off again. You imagine that he's in some dark cave someone, his own feet clattering against the cold stone. All of this training you've done, and all the training you've still yet to do. As you turn and slide to sprint again, you can't help but smile. Mari wonders how you could still feel weak.

Once the sprinting is done, you go to some jabbing drills. You focus on arm stamina, and being able to have snappy punches even when your arms are tired. Hitting a punching bag or an opponent is good for developing power, but having to pull back the projected force of a punch when you miss develops a different sort of muscle.

Your rapid shadowboxing dulls quickly, as you start to more slowly pick off sharp shots with your left. Even when your arm feels fiery and painful, you keep exploding it and extending forward to strike. You do this several times, for minutes at a time. Being able to fire off fundamental punches like this will give you at least some close range defense, even if you're dead tired.

Once you're done, you feel like you've improved your speed and made some progress towards your stamina as well.

(Speed up to 3.5 Stamina at 2.5+. Since it's been a while, for those who aren't familiar, a + next to a stat means it needs to be trained again before it's increased by an interval of .5)

You're fairly exhausted, now. You've been training for a couple hours.

You walk in circles in order to cool down from your exercises. Even though it's still cold, your body is radiating heat like crazy. You head down to the pond and splash water on your face, clearing yourself of the snot and slobber from the exertion and cold air.

When you stand up, you can't help but feel a little light headed. You walk back over to the base of a large tree, and lean on it for a while. As you steady your breathing, the sound of thumping footsteps in the distance can be heard. Looking up, you can see a boy slightly older than you. It's Roku, who you'd beaten in the preliminaries of the tournament. He was a tough opponent, with a skill set rather similar to yours overall.

He spots you and heads on over, smiling. "Hey there! Working hard as expected?"

You nod, chuckling. You imagine that you look a little silly right now, leaning on the tree for support. "I've been out here for a while, today. I've been trying to learn some new techniques. Why is it that the better you get at being a ninja, the harder it gets?"

Roku laughs. "So that nuts like you always have something to look forward to. I don't think I'll ever forget that crazy look in your eyes. Hey, since we're both out here, how about a spar once you're a little more rested up?

You chuckle. "It's a lot harder than being a Genin. I feel exhausted most of the time, but better pay is nice. Plus I like leading squads."

He starts to stretch. "I see. We've all been training really hard to prepare for the next exam. Mari's more fired up than ever."

You nod. "I'd say. Last night she sure seemed like it.."

He looks up from touching his toes, blinking. "Last night?"

Mari has mixed feelings about you as usual, she's frustrated but can't deny the plausibility of your overall attitude and outlook. Roku's a bit of a lewd person himself so he's got the worst in mind.

Mari, Roku, Ollie Chan and Rock Lee have all had group discussions about the team's losses to you and how to learn from them.

Danpei doesn't really think much of you yet, he's just doing his job. He's happy to finally be out in the field though, and doesn't think anything bad of you. He's totally loyal

Not in this quest, no, but maybe in the far future. Sasuke's out there crossing dimensions and nations looking for anything he can about it.

>>941634
You could always challenge her. Other than that, it may happen the next time you go on a mission with her squad if you wanted to train.

Anyone actually using poison now? how good is Gai's wheelchair fu?
>>
>>941713
Are we expected to go and help out or is that still above our pay grade
>>
>>941730
Some people use poison, but not a whole lot. Mostly puppeteers, Taijutsu users, and people who rely more on stealth.

Gai's wheelchair is in fact a ninja wheelchair.

>>941734
You won't be asked to do anything. That sort of task is reserved for instructors like Udon.
>>
Hey Mini, any chance we could develop immunity to generic poison by applying it to ourselves in increasingly small doses? It'd seem like a good idea, considering that we might fight another poison user later on down the line.

Plus, it would mean that we won't have to use chakra removing poison from ourselves if we get tagged by a Jashinist or other trickier foes.
>>
>>942371
And by increasingly small, I mean that the doae gets a little larger each time.
>>
>>942371
>>942406
If Mini says it works I can totally see Takeshi doing that.
>>
>>941586
>Mari, Roku, Ollie Chan and Rock Lee have all had group discussions about the team's losses to you and how to learn from them.
I can't be the only person who wants to read this if only for more Rock Lee
>>
>>942371
You could, but it would take time and have an adverse effect on your health while you're doing it. It'd take a few months for some resistance, and at least a year or maybe more for immunity.

By adverse effects, I mean you would tire more easily all the time. Something like a -.5 stat reduction
>>
>>944094
So what was Lee's critique of his team and of us?
>>
>>944094
Would the stat reduction be permanent(as in, persists even through training, effectively reducing our stamina cap to 4.5)? If so, maybe it's not the best to do so right now. Perhaps during the eventual training arc.
>>
>>944151
Until you'd stop poisoning yourself, you'd have that debuff. So far as long as the immunization process takes you'd be weakened.
>>
>>944971
Running again soon min?

Also, i noticed our spd and sta got a .5 and a +, but our Tai didn't get a plus and it was Tai training.
>>
>>944101
It was a few different talks spread out over the course of this quest. For the team talk he mostly just wanted to talk about being a more balanced fighter. Your early victory over Mari actually turned her partner, Roku, from a more typical medical ninja to a balanced one.

Then beating Roku highlighted how sometimes willpower can trump ability if you get too confident.

For Ollie-chan, you're an example of an opponent he'd be extremely weak against, so he's been working to counteract that type of fighting as opposed to purely trying to brute force stuff like Lee did in his youth.

>>945007
There's more or less four types of Taijutsu training you can do. Stamina training, Speed training, and Strength training. Your physical abilities.

The Taijutsu stat is the representation of your technique and skill. You'll have to directly learn from Taijutsu masters, learn more types of skills.

There's a lot of crossing over, and it usually depends on what exactly you're doing. In this case, I went for speed and stamina. Speed from the legwork, and then arm stamina from the punching. Since jabbing is a technique you've already more or less perfected, there wasn't an overall increase to Taijutsu technique.

I may run later tonight. Possibly tomorrow. I'd like to go again soon
>>
>>945023
Wow, we're having a noticeable positive impact on the ninja youths, i never thought we'd be a role model when this quest started, but i can see us slowly influencing them.

And of course, gaining the trust and admiration and respect of this generation is the first step in becoming the hidden hokage of the hidden leaf village. Never forget the plan.

So then, how much could our bro help us with Tai? I imagine it would only be to a point and then someone more skilled than him would have to teach us, and we would likely then blend mist and leaf styles to improve our Tai?

Either way is good Mini Although if you run tonight i'll almost certainly miss it, but don't let that stop you if you're running tonight.
>>
>>945068
I'd say trying to get a few taijutsu sessions in with your bro would be pretty beneficial. Taijutsu is his main specialty aside from detection Ninjutsu.
>>
>>945416

oh weird it said my post didn't go through, whatever

>>945438
You'd have to ask him. He'll tell you whenever he has some time
>>
>>945465
Have we been training the iron fist thing?
>>
>>945479
Yes and no. The jab is a part of it. Your bro can teach you more techniques, and the more basic techniques you learn and master, the more the skin on your hands and feet will harden. The power of the techniques comes more from developing the conditioning rather than an actual ability.
>>
>>945676
So more basic techniques? Do we do the basics of strengthening the technique in warm ups?
>>
>>945704
Yes, Takeshi's always doing his morning exercises even if I don't describe them every morning.
>>
>>945735
how does Takeshi stand with the girls?

do any of them find him physically attractive or have a crush on him?
>>
>>945926
Due to looking extremely generic and still being twelve, you're still mostly a babyface. Except when you're tired, bloody and grimy. Then you tend to look older, but more in a gaunt and frightening way. So to most people he's forgettable, but there's a fair sure who've seen you at your most intense moments and remember the distinction between the two looks.

As for crushes you'd have to find out yourself. It's no fun if I just casually mention and you guys know in advance.

In summary, nothing wrong with him, but forgettable unless seen in action.
>>
>>946006
so I take it you're not running tonight? or is there hope for a later than usual session still?
>>
>>946006
So basically it's up to "Look at him when he has the madness in his eyes?"
>>
>>946029
I won't be running tonight, maybe tomorrow. Certainly monday if not before then.

>>946063
Sort of, but you rarely show that, and it's not really a trait that's considered attractive.

You've yet to get to the age is really it
>>
>>946006

>>946168
>>946176
yeah totally, just remember how thin the line can be between a hardened soldier and a psychotic killer.
>>
>>946183
Have we done anything like that to people not warranting lethal force? I think not. Just because we have plans to kill everyone we meet doesn't mean we do. We just like being prepared, like Aizen or Batman.
>>
>>946183
/qst/ players are masters of fucking dancing up and down that line though
>>
>>946198
We use that line as a pole mang.
>>
>>946197
The only time you ever really attacked with all the intent to kill was against Roku, in the preliminaries.

You'd jumped on top of him and probably would have kept hammering away with your fists until something broke if the ref wasn't there to stop you.

More or less, any time you use lethal force it's because you're pushed into a completely raw fight or flight scenario, and you tend to pick fight.
>>
>>946213

Not trying to troll you but Is Rinnegan (even a one in a million chance) possible to happen to Takeshi?

Also, I just realized Temple of Nirvana may just be our new signature technique. While it is as simple as detecting the incoming genjutsu and using kai to avoid temple of Nirvana, if one were in any situation where one could not use both hands, (It is very possible with certain jutsu or weapon/trap/ally setups) Shikadai Syrup trap jutsu, specifically to bind or trap and smother rather than prevent movement Temple of Nirvana will make that opponent or group of opponents completely helpless for capture or elimination.

Thoughts on both the question and Nirvana Mini? Pic extremely unrelated ?
>>
>>947070
That would be a pretty good way to get someone to drop something they're holding, to do the Kai seal.

You won't be getting rinnegan sadly. But someone will!
>>
>>947083
So then we can kill them, steal them, and set up an eye transfer process and blame someone else for the whole thing, and no one can prove we have the rinnegan because we will develop a jutsu to hide them as regular eyes.
Oh right we aren't Snek 2.0, we don't care about magic eyes, keep forgetting that. That's just me.

Also Mini, i understand Boruto and Sarada are powerful and important but please, please give them to someone other than them.

I'm hoping it's Ai

Also, troll pick, Olly gets them. The keks.
>>
>>947120
Oh it certainly won't be anyone you know
>>
>>947151
Oh kidding about kidding then, If it's a Villian and they end up as anything less than the final BBEG i think anon and Takeshi can both agree not to let such a good weapon go to waste if it's a corpse, but we'll see.

And about the syrup trap, i meant like performing the hand seals, then knocking/kicking someone down, and spewing the goop over them, covering them and trapping them. The goop should prevent them from making hand seals, should make it hard to see/move/breath, and anyone trying to save them has to stop what they are doing and use kai to save themselves, then one target is out of the fight more or less with complete certainty.
>>
>>947175
Yeah that could work. Don't expect it to keep someone nailed to the floor indefinitely unless you get a really good chance to coat them though
>>
I think we should learn that technique from Takkunn; the one that allows you to hide in puddles. It suits us perfectly. Other than that, we should probably get Tearing Torrent at some point. Better than Water Bullets in some regard.
>>
>>947175
>more boring techniques
>>
>>947364
Both great suggestions. A stealth move and an improved offensive move.

>>947400
The syrup capture field is sort of boring, but I would hardly underestimate it's utility. Especially when used with other stuff too
>>
>>947175
Could we also possibly make the goop flammable/explosive for the extra fuck you

Also
Is it possible to obtain a completely undetectable stealth mode?
I'm talking about completely silent and almost unsensible bar the highest level sensory justu and byakugan levels of bullshit
>>
>>947947
The only person to ever really do something like that in the series was Zetsu, and he was a fucking weirdo like you wouldn't believe.

As for making the goop flammable, I'd say that would have to be a separate jutsu. One for sticky and one that's more so flammable jelly. It'd be a boil release technique though.
>>
>>947400
Boring but effective. Way better than all that flashy shit every single other character is using;
>>
>>948033
Indeed. The unseen knife is the one that gets you.
>>
>>948033
Water based jutsu is just as flashy as any other jutsu.

>>
>>948060

I've been rereading the quest and you know what i would really appreciate, a character list.
Just a large fuck off cast list filled with the quest's characters, and a short description of their traits, abilities, and current opinion of Takeshi.

With the on and off nature of this quest's run schedule i could imagine it would be hard for both long time fans, and new ones to keep track of all the OC's, many of which we haven't seen for some time.
The cast list would be good opportunity for everyone to get reacquainted with the lesser known cast as well as gain a more complete understanding of more prominent characters.
I would do it myself, but im sure there are future plans and hidden subtleties to each of the character i don't know.
Also while we're at it a compendium of all the side stories and pastebin fight would be cool too.
>>
>>956194
Yeah that's a good idea. There's really SO much stuff that's just kind of scattered to the wind along all these threads.

I'll get started on a character compendium at the very least.

After explaining that you and Mari had a bite to eat, Roku chuckles. "Right, yeah, that's what you meant. That reminds me, how's Ai been doing?"

As far as you know, she's well. She's more or less always in the same mood. "Training hard, I imagine. She's one of the few people who spends more time training and studying than me, hehe."

Roku grumbles. "Tell me about it. Every time I think I've got a second to talk to her she's gone the moment I look away."

The two of you start stretching and warming up in preparation. From what you can see, Roku looks quite larger. He seems to be about a single size bigger in every aspect, while also being considerably cut down on bodyfat. While you haven't really gained any height yet, he seems to be yet another inch taller than when you had originally fought him in the preliminaries.

As you're checking him over, you don't notice him doing the same to you. "Hmm, seems like you're pretty much the same size surprisingly. I hope you haven't been slacking in your Taijutsu."

"Taijutsu isn't everything in a fight, you know."

He nods slowly, bending down to touch his toes. "Oh, for sure. You don't have to tell me that. Rock Lee's my sensei, after all. But, it is how you managed to beat me, isn't it? It didn't come down to any sort of jutsu, but just flesh and metal."

He has a bit of a point. Whenever you run out of chakra or ideas, sometimes just swinging your fist is the answer. "That much is true. I wanna see your other moves too though, okay? Whatever that bloody explosion was during our match, that was interesting."

Roku stands straight up, and puts his fists up in front of him. "Ahh, yes, my special techniques! If you can press me enough, I'll show them to you again."

He starts to swing his fists through the air, letting sharp, powerful hooks fly. He stops. "You ready?"

You nod, and take a few steps back. The two of you stand in the center of the field, about five meters away from one another. How do you want to initiate the fight?

Roku was one of the most difficult opponents that you'd fought during the exams. You'll have to be cautious with him. Starting off, you draw a handful of senbon from your weapon's pouch. He catches your intention and starts to run towards you in a zig-zag pattern.

Playing keep away has become one of your most refined tactics. Carefully, you leap back with each one of his steps in time. As a result, you step backwards at the same rate he runs forward. Through flicking the needles one by one, you're able to contain his movements and control his path. You throw shots slightly wide to both the left and right, and he dodges inward both times to be forced into running at you in a dead sprint.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TsE01qdy5A

Instead of opting to retreat, your foe kicks things up a gear and slams his foot into the dirt. He shoots off in a sprint, suddenly closing in much faster than before. You only have one needle in your hand.

First, you skid to a stop. Then you flick your wrist gently forward, but don't throw the needle. This feint draws out what you expected. Roku slides down on his knees, skidding forward at a high speed. He was expecting you to with-hold your last shot, but his physical girth gave you the heads up on his intentions for this fight.

You flick it diagonally downwards, and it sticks in his shoulder. Truthfully you could have struck at the heart, but this is only a spar. You can't help but grin cockily at this notion. You're already having to hold back?

Before he can close in and retaliate, you make another short hop back. Roku rolls forward and gets back into a run, tearing the senbon out from his shoulder.

He seems intent on closing in for some reason.

He wants to get close? Make him work for it. Also might give us a terrain advantage if we prepare in advance to use the "Water walking" technique to keep sure footing on the patches of mud our misses will create. Might even be able to use the False Place genjutsu to make one look like dry ground to Roku so we can throw him off balance once we decide to get close and unleash some taijutsu.

Jumping back again, you do the handsigns for the Water Bullet jutsu. Three soccer ball sized blasts fire out of your mouth, in a tight cone. Roku dodges to the right to avoid the first, and ducks under the second. He attempts to jump over the third, but he's slightly too slow and it catches his foot.

Your foe goes spinning out of control as he's heading towards you. On his way down, he starts to pepper the field with senbon. It's impressive that he can still throw these weapons at you with relative accuracy while spinning.

You rush forward and under him, slipping past so you don't get cornered on the edge of the forest. Several senbon land all around you, but with your speed you avoid them. Skidding to a stop, you turn around and use the Water Bullet Jutsu again as he lands.

He hits the ground, and spins around. There's a splash of red on his hand from the cut on his shoulder, and it suddenly glows a bright red. In an instant the blood evaporates and creates an explosive blast, a charged shot of red energy shooting through all three of your water bullets. They're all turned into vapor.

Your eyes go wide, and you leap to the left to narrowly avoid the attack. The blast sizzles as it races past, and leaves a scorched crater in the grass a short distance away.

You spin your head back, a little shocked. "Bringing out the big guns already?"

Roku looks at his smoking hand. "I didn't really get to use my full arsenal against you. I don't intend to give you an advantage this time!"

He puts his hand against his shoulder again, pressing hard. He screws his face tight and squeezes, making his hand damp again. He's about to fire another blast!

Shunshin towards Roku but aim to pass by instead of engaging

This is an extremely quick technique he is using. I doubt we can out race him with anything that uses hand signs but I am willing to bet this is a fiegnt and he wants us to rush him.

You grin. "To be fair, when we last fought you didn't really need it."

He cocks an eyebrow. "Don't say that when you won!"

He holds out his palm and points it directly at you. This time you're more prepared for the hissing blast, and throw a series of senbon while you dodge. The very first volley of weapons is standard, and simply intended to get him to move. The second volley has several senbon with bells mixed in, to get him focused on the auditory clues. As you're throwing your weapons, Roku carefully advances. This time he chooses to head in more directly instead of weaving, intending to dodge everything you throw. As he's closing in on you, you go through the handsigns for the Haze Clone Jutsu. As he's rushing he's suddenly enveloped by copies of you in every direction.

You keep throwing senbon with bells and without, although you can't really see him clearly now.

Though you can't see him, you hear Roku yell out. "I won't let you!"

Roku takes off at full speed, again surprising you with his direct tactics. He leaps directly into the air holding a kunai from his weapon's pouch. You pepper a spray of needles on his body. Oddly enough, he hardly reacts at all. Once he reaches the apex of his jump, you throw the poisoned volley at his chest while leaping back, hopefully keeping him at bay.

He lets all three needles strike him in the chest, and he points his explosive weapon at your feet. You imagine that he's simply guessing where you are. "Blood Wave!"

The red on his palm evaporates, and the explosion creates a scorched crater as you leap back. The attack is so quick that you still get swept up in the shockwave, hitting the ground a little harder than you like.

You're a tad wobbly as you stand up. As you turn around, your eyes scan the crowd. "Where'd he go?

There's a few long moments of silence. He seems to be ducked among your clones.

You throw down the bells while he's busy dealing with the poison. Like this, you have a fairly good shot of trapping him momentarily. Even if you can't use the paralysis to deal the finishing blow, being able to further disorient him will open up for more of your attacks.

Kneeling down, you try to keep your eyes peeled for any signs of movement. All of your clones seem to be in fine condition, none of them being attacked or disrupted. As far as you can tell, Roku is more or less remaining completely still. Is it possible that your poison is already taking effect?

Unlikely. In a few moments, the bells resound across the battlefield. There's a moment of pause as you wonder whether or not your jutsu was a success.

You keep your eyes open, looking out for any red flashes. A single mistake could mean losing this fight.

That's all for tonight unfortunately, I'm pretty tired folks. I'll be continuing as soon as I can, and I'll be around for a few questions.

we need to learn the sleep genjutsu.
that and the interrogation thing would be so good for information
heck its good for stealth to.
also we need to either learn sealing or get a bigger bomb bag because really we should be able to hold more than 2 of them

They need to be awake to use the interrogation thing.

>learn sealing or get a bigger bomb bag because really we should be able to hold more than 2 of them.
That's a good idea. We once used seals to hold extra senbon so i don't see why we cant do the same thing for huge bombs.
A good idea i had was just having a bunch of seals with logs covered in explosive tags to use for more effective substitution.
>>
>>959337
it was said in story that we could use it while people sleep

>Shikamaru grins. "We're going to have a fun time with this. Not only am I going to teach you the jutsu, I'm going to use it against you so that you can learn to defend against it. This is going to be the bulk of our training, but standard practices like meditation or chakra control exercises can fill the time between sessions. The jutsu that I'm going to teach you is the Interrogation Genjutsu, used to forcibly extract information from another shinobi's mind. The only limitations beyond actually mastering it, are physical contact, a conscious target, and a stronger will than said target."
