Part 5 – Session 1

The power of the Elders of the Githyanki race is incredible. It has potency beyond anything you previously thought imaginable (because you have some altered cognition to help with that now). It can help you transform minds, alter souls, and grants you unbelievable power. It appears to grow, in some strange way, transforming how you see things and broadening your mind and the understanding you have of magic and the Silver Swords. It is an easily seen power as well, visible in your aura and detectable by the commonly used sells for seeing magical power.

It is also the last thing in the world you want an ancient githyanki mage knowing you possess.

Still, the fact that Yashi is present here is not necessarily a bad thing. First of all, it serves as a test of how well your new student in both the art of the gish and how to be githyanki can hide her ifrit nature from someone who is observant. Kteine needs the distraction, especially after you sent her lovers – one of whom is actually in love with her – off to be mated. You also need some time to study your spell book in case Gero's would-be assassin deigns to duel you in place of trying to kill you in secrecy.

You are hoping Yashi is merely interested in accompanying you to the duel; her timing is too coincidental otherwise. Aeuna, whom you hope to have as a cadre member, might have spread knowledge of the duel to garner status for herself. Even a loss can bring recognition if one acquits themselves well.

In the mean time you are faced with the youthful appearing Yashi, whose delicate frame disguises an ancient and malevolent mind starved for both entertainment and intellectual stimulation. The disguise is imperfect; even Kteine, the youngest member of your cadre and not even githyanki, reacted first with 'what' rather than 'who' upon seeing Yashi for the first time. Still, the illusionist might be the perfect ally in helping Kteine become githyanki as opposed to an ifrit in a githyanki body. The half-efreet's mind is flexible, and she possesses the githyanki mental abilities that allow her to protect herself from the enemy already. She merely needs to discard her less than warlike nature and accept what she must be to survive.

Easier thought than done, sadly.

The sight that Yashi is being treated to is impressive, and it certainly deserves the broad smile she is giving both you and Kteine. Her eyes are the pale yellow of the aged, despite her nubile and delicate form; her pupils glow with the potent Arcane Sight, a spell you suspect is not temporary in her case. They caress your body with a sincerely lustful gaze, as you are naked save for your jewelry, much of which is enchanted to protect you; the half mask that covers your brow, eyes, and cheeks also hides the living metal rune set into your left cheek. You set your Silver Sword aside, smiling in return and pulling Kteine into your arms.
>>
Kteine is younger than Yashi both physically and mentally, only just on the edge of being a childer and maturing into an imago. Her eyes of burned marigold roam over Yashi's youthful form, trying to reconcile what she sees with what she subconsciously feels. Entirely naked, she draws a sharp breath as you caress her belly and cup one firm breast. “Is she not beautiful, Yashi? Not my type, perhaps, but then you might enjoy the experience.” Kteine blushes, her cool grey cheeks darkening to a soft blue-grey. “You may enjoy discovering her secrets on your own; I have no doubt you will enjoy playing with her would be mates.”

You make Kteine gasp again by gently massaging her breast, and she looks at Yashi uncertainly as the strange creature's smile grows wider. “Beautiful,” she murmurs. Kteine shudders at that lovely, melodious voice. It is reassuring to know it isn't just you that reacts to her voice in such a manner. You idly wonder if males hear it the same way as you give Kteine's neck a soft kiss and make her squirm becomingly.

Studying Yashi, as you move closer to kiss Kteine's jawline lightly, you find yourself intrigued by what appears to be a raider's outfit. Her war-sash has a large pouch at the base, and is heavily decorated with appreciations and honors mostly involving defense of varied Strongholds and the creation of tools and weapons for the same. She is wearing form fitting leather armor with decorous imprinting and stamps, a well as studs of mithril. Her wild hair is decorated with a number of gems and pins of silver and white gold, while she wears several rings of crystal and silver and diamond. Most impressive is the staff of emerald she carries, a six foot long rod of polished emerald, tapered to points at each end and bound with decorated bands of black iron With tall, soft boots of black leather, she looks closer to a skulker than an illusionist.

The effect is entirely alluring despite, or perhaps because of her apparent youth; it gives her a slightly masculine look that her pretty jewels and youthful look softens nicely.

Also, should we return the favor and cast Arcane Sight and look at the weapons, armor and accessories she seems to want to show off? Or do you guys think we need to save every... magic point? Portion of our mana pool? Regardless of our lingo, do you guys think we should save that until our duel?

Just ask about the gear in a general sense, asking her to spell out her staff functions for instance seems inappropriate.

Remember - Akko has just rested. She has not memorized any spells, so she would have to burn arcane pool (2 or 3 out of 12 points) to instantly prepare that spell.

Detect magic would take longer but it is prepared already.

[XX] Inquire about her attire and weaponry first.
[X] Have her come 'entertain' Kteine a you prepare your spells.
[x] Ask if she has come to see you duel the last prospective cadre member.

“You look particularly dashing, Yashi,” you murmur, pulling away from Kteine only enough to let Yashi see your masked visage clearly. Kteine is still very flushed and she is breathing a little hard, your attentions apparently enough to excite her despite her love for her would-be-mates. Of course, Yashi watching her with unabashed lust is probably helping as well, considering she's entirely naked. “You are almost as alluring as when we first met, truth be told.”

Yashi steps inside and slowly floats towards you and Kteine. You don't entirely release the young gish, and she glances back at you nervously, squirming a little still as you more lightly cup her breast in the embrace. The illusionist lands next to your cushion and kneels, laying her staff on the ground. It is an actual emerald, a single shard of one, carved and polished into a javelin-like shape which is impressive all by itself. The faint glow from within tells you that is it magical, and probably potent enough to be useful in combat. Yashi looks from the delicate Kteine to you, and inclines her head slightly.

“This is Kteine, beloved of Falna and Schechei, who are part of our cadre as well. Be polite. I presume you can see the spells that have been laid upon her. I would be grateful for your assistance in her....education.” This last you whisper into Kteine's ear and trace lines from her breast to her belly, which makes her stifle a noise of some sort. Yashi seems darkly amused by your revelation, and you can see that the thoughts f trouble she can cause are already drifting through what must be a very strange mind.

“Is there a reason you are dressed for raiding, Yashi? I was not aware you had such accouterments, but they look excellently prepared and well cared for.” They are definitely well made; you would be surprised if they are all not enchanted in a number of ways.

She inclines her head to the compliment, and her smile is a little less coy. “Support of my leader,” she murmurs and you feel an actual frisson of excitement at the words. The way Kteine draws her legs together and pulls them close, the tiny noise she makes deep in her throat, and shiver she suffers is more than just a reaction to the voice. She just about had a splinter-climax, a miniature orgasm from the look of her. Yashi's secretive glance at the childer's reaction only increases your suspicion that it is some form of enchantment.

“I am flattered that you would demonstrate such solidarity so quickly, and in such a warlike manner, Yashi.” You slip around Kteine and gesture for the illusionist to come closer, while Kteine huddles against you almost fearfully, her eyes wide and a little shocked.

Leaving her spear-staff on the 'floor' of your cell, she crawls towards you, her knees protected by the high boot she wears. Bringing your hand up you cup her throat and chin as you deliver a deep, long soul kiss, tasting her tongue and mouth intimately, even caressing her spurs with your clever tongue. That makes Yashi the one who shivers in excitement, and when you break the kiss she is left breathless.

“Would you keep Yashi....entertained....while I prepare for my proposed duel with Aeuna, Yashi? Within reason of course.” Yashi's smile broadens and she crawls closer, running her soft, warm hand along Kteine's thigh.

Kteine slips away from you and move to Yashi, offering her lips to the other youthful looking creature. The kiss they share is involved and slow, and Yashi purrs for Kteine. That makes the childer blush darkly, and Yashi makes herself comfortable along your cushions. Her new....well, perhaps not friend, but acquaintance at least....her new acquaintance moves to allow herself to be embraced and lightly petted by Yashi, as she watches you. Her nerves are showing, and you have no doubt Yashi has noticed as well. Her eyes remain wide and little shocked, wile Yashi strokes, caresses, and pets her sleek body.

Less sexually than you were doing, honestly.

Picking up your tome, you look through your spell list carefully. You don't have a huge repertoire, but you have a very, very effective one.

[] Typical combat load-out: Balanced offense and defense, with a selection of utility.
[] Heavy hitter: More offense, both spellstrike and basic spells, then almost strictly defense.
[] Careful combat: More defense, with the rest being high-potency and reliable combat spell.
[] Enemy specific: Concentrate on spells best against a close-quarters, high speed combatant, both defensive and offensive.

I guess the downside to enemy specific is that means we're really betting on Aeuna taking us up on our offer, and not somehow getting us to fight someone else, or just trying to kill us later, but between heavy hitter and careful combat I'm not sure what's useful/Aeuna is more experienced fighting.

I can't access the sheet right now, but could anyone tell me which illusion spells we have?

It seems like the ones listed are just an average layout, if there's a specific spell in mind, you should just suggest it and see if Akko knows it, or just say "do something with illusions"
>>
>>927921
Though that does remind me, wasn't there a concealment spell Akko was considering casting just in case Aeuna manages to remove Akko's mask somehow?

Nondetection? I'm pretty sure it's already memorized.

She used arcane pool to memorize and cast it.

Since she's used Scripted Hallucination in Aeuna's presence, she skipped it - her other illusion is Phantasmal Killer, but she is trying to avoid killing. Also, she is aware that Aeuna's mind is well fortified agaisnt illusions and will-power sapping spells, unless she uses Ego Whip to beat down Aeuna's wisdom (which is a viable tactic!).

[X] Enemy specific: Concentrate on spells best against a close-quarters, high speed combatant, both defensive and offensive.
[X] Write in? Neither under estimate, nor over estimate; keep a surprise or two in store.

You page through your spell book, pausing at those spells you desire to learn. Though it seems to take forever to imprint the potent formulas into your mind and on your aura, it doesn't take long at all. You do manage to keep an eye on Yashi and Kteine, however; Yashi is whispering to the poor girl, who is breathing hard and rubbing her thighs together as Yashi plays with her short, straight hair and caresses her slender arms and taut belly. The fact that it is you that Kteine is staring at and that Yashi is looking towards as her thrilling voice whispers in the girl's ear is both flattering and alarming.

It would be troublesome for Falna to think you are trying to steal Kteine from her, despite the lesser feelings Schechei and she have for the delicate githyanki-like girl.

It is reassuring that Yashi is not taking anything further than whispers and soft caresses, beyond the first kiss they shared. You were somewhat worried that Yashi would be forceful, though she was anything but when you had your way with her. Still, the sight is alluring; the faintly masculine and armored Yashi and the waifish and naked Kteine make an adorable pair. Schechei wouldn't be nearly so interesting to watch, your certain.

Turning your mind back to the matter at hand, you concentrate on spells to deal with a quick, close-quarters combatant: auras, spells easily modified to momentarily inhibit movement, blinding spells, and defenses turned to protect your body from being touched at all. Rather than selecting Arcane Sight, you re-memorize Glimpse of Truth. It will give you much better and faster insight into everything she has going on at once.

You also prepare yourself mentally to empower Siobhan with just a touch of the ancient powers, just enough to give yourself one more vital edge in combat. Likewise she give you insight into two of your most effective spells – Dispel Magic, which can be tuned more finely and with greater subtlety than you previously understood, and Dragon's Breath, which is far more potent, as you can utilize the matrices of the spell itself to store even more power from Yzia or the Astral Dragon scale you were given by a very eager young magus in trade for your healing magics.

It will take you nearly a minute to prepare all your defenses, but her likewise; the time can be allowed of restricted, depending on the duelists' desires. Personally you like a little leeway, time to prepare your sells and enchantments, but if that is not allowed to you, you can certainly manage. It is also worth remembering you have access to almost anything you need with your arcane force fully cultivated: the Astral Fundament contains the noosphere of all magic, after all.

A soft, shocked gasp draws your attention as you finish the final preparations, and you look at Kteine, who looks at you with a deep blush, one that colors all the way to her ear-tips and down her firm young breasts. You smile as you watch her experience the orgasm, her hips jerking, and legs moving a one even though they are tightly pressed together. Or perhaps because they are pressed so tightly together. Yashi lifts her eyes, giving you an all too knowing look as Kteine looks shyly away.

“There is that body-shyness we discussed before. Do you think you are the first person who has self-pleasured themselves to climax while looking at me? I have had both males and females do so. Once when I was fully clothed.”

“You are beautiful,” she admits, looking at you frankly. Yashi merely smiles and kisses the other githyanki's cheek softly before moving to collect her staff and sash. Then Kteine adds: “Yashi's voice is....exquisite.” You smile and crawl to he, leaving your spell book behind, and gently part her legs with one hand. She watches you reach for her, not quite calmly, but she does spread her legs for you as you reach for her crux.

Aeuna has a high resistance to illusion, and Siobhan is reinforcing Akko's Dispel Magic with the Elder Power (i.e. Mythic Dispel Magic).

Done, but it will take several rounds of spllcasting to bring everything up. Given at least a minute to prepare, Akko can place all her defenses up.

Variety and curveballs included, though most of tht is also dependant on Akko's arcane pool to pull spells out of nowhere.

As a final note, she intends on adjusting one of her usual methods of having Siobhan enhanced and turning it all nonlethal with damage maximized.
>>
>>928042
>nonleathal
Can we complete the terms of the duel using non-lethal damage? It has to be deep blood, and that sounds like a wound that can kill, even if it doesn't in the end.

Guess it depends how the non-lethal method works. I always pictured it softening the blow.
>>
>>928046
Yes - if you beat her unconscious it will count as a killing blow.

Also the weapon damage will be non-lethal (but that form of enhancement does a LOT of damage) The damage caused by Akko's spells will NOT be nonlethal.
>>
>>928054
Ah okay. So probably open up with attack spells and smack down after.

...Were non-lethal damage spells ever a thing? Seems like an obvious design space, but I've never heard of it.
>>
>>928060
It would probably be pretty difficult to make a nonlethal fireball. But there is actually a pathfinder metamagic feat that does exactly that.
>>
>>928060

Don't think the devs would think about making non-lethal damage spells when stuff like Sleep exist.

They already have troubles not just making the caster classes come with the "instant win, no debate" feature.

>Ah okay. So probably open up with attack spells and smack down after.

Depends how long we have to prepare. The less time we have, the more I would advise to attack her in melee.

Given that she's a mage killer, I'm going to guess all her Save stats are pretty high

[X] Cup her gently and feel her heat.
[] Dip your fingers in for a taste.

[x] Open her petals to look at, see if she can overcome her reactions.
[X] Write in? Play with her, if she can stand it and will stand for it; perhaps with Yashi's help. But if she cannot finish, then she will have to wait.

You press your palm against her slit, feeling how wet she is, how how the flesh of her sex is. Yashi watches your every moment now, kneeling at the edge of your cushions and her eyes gliding over your form a you tease the beautiful childer. “I have had breeders that do not get as wet as you are now, Lovely.” You use the gith word with the honorific that denotes a name, calling her by her own name in your tongue. “I do not think I have ever touched as wet a flower as the one under my hand now.”

She swallows, her hips jerking slightly at the merest change in pressure that your hand creates. “I've always been easy to rouse, Akko,” she says softly, her voice almost hitching mid-sentence.

“Is that so?” You turn your hand around and use your middle and pointer finger to spread her flower open, exposing the soft blue-tinted petals on the inside of her vulva. She blushes deeply, her already darkened cheeks becoming darker still. “I am told by people who would know, that the githyanki body has a much stronger set of muscles here than most other races.” You lean a little closer, and she looks down. You hold yourself in place via movement, and grip her chin and throat with your other hand. “There is no shame in this. This is barely sex. If you show weakness, someone is liable to hurt you while doing this.”

While you don't particularly mean yourself, you wouldn't hesitate if she were more vulnerable. Schechei, on the other hand, might react more instinctively. Yashi is grinning, and her fingers are running up and down the emerald shaft of her stave suggestively.

She pants softly, her hips twithing and her hands clutching at your cushions. “I've always been body shy, even as a slave, Akko.” Your eyes dart to Yashi, and Kteine draws a sharp breath, realizing her mistake. That doesn't stop you from releasing her throat, nor does it stop you from slipping your fingers into her soft heat and spreading her a little wider, which makes her chirp in an immature manner.

Perhaps surprisingly, Yashi tilts her head, almost placidly. As though she heard nothing unusual or even interesting. You don't miss the slow stroke of her tongue across all her spurs though....oh yes, she will remember that. Kteine will get a reminder at some point, you're sure. Still, Yashi seems to be on your side in this situation which is nice.

“Pay attention to Yashi, Lovely. She will help you....” You let her soft, wet sex close, and then place your hand over it once more. With your firm, deliberate squeeze she moans rather loudly as your palm presses her clitoris into her dense pubic bone. “And if you are not careful, cause you more trouble than you can imagine yet.” You roll your palm, and Kteine grabs your wrist, pulling your hand away.

You allow her to, smiling. She looks surprised and you laugh softly at her shock. “I told you, Kteine, we are not a people who forces our desires on others unless they allow it. Clearly you are oversensitive, and are unwilling....but you will have to take care of yourself in the next turning, or you will have to wait a very long time for your next opportunity.” You rise and gesture to Yashi. She rises as well and follows you the short distance to your armor. “You may watch Yashi and I, and enjoy yourself.” Kteine blinks at your malicious smile. “If you wish.”

The conflict that your offer creates is intense, and written all over her face. “Protect your thoughts, for Dad Gods' sake, you broadcast like a feral!” Your admonition is gentle and well humored, while Yashi glances at her, those pale yellow eyes calculating, measuring, judging. As you set out the pieces and padding of your armor, you watch Kteine out of the corner of your eyes.

Turning her full attention on you, Yashi slowly slides her hands along your bared skin. “Pah! ....Wait.” You reach into a pouch and pull out a tiny phial of powdered diamond. Opening it, you shake it into the air around your body, and it fades as you incant the spell. Nondetection is a common enough spell in duels that Yashi doesn't see it as remarkable. Which is good. You smile and deliberately bend over, presenting to Kteine and allowing Yashi to kneel as she helps you put on the padding and greaves for your legs.

Her fingers stray rather intimately and you gasp softly, and a you stand up you look at her accusingly. Her unapologetic look says it all, and you stroke her hair, before giving her a deep kiss. Yashi's fingers move to trace your own sex, and you shudder. Kteine makes a small sound of desire as you rise an allow Yashi to continue her less adventurous efforts in dressing you in your armor. Only slightly less so – any part of your skin that will be covered receives a kiss, before she covers it; your breasts and belly receive several, and there is one rather intense moment when her tongue strays into the kiss upon your pudenda.

Finally you are armored, and your mask has remained in place. Of course, you would like nothing more than to take it all off and have your way with the teasing little bitch that helped you into it, but you have to consider your safety during the duel. Kteine is breathing hard and her hand is between her legs, barely moving and she flushes a you turn to look at her. Yashi leans into you, and you slip your arm around her, holding her hip lightly.

Lovely,” she agrees in that silky sweet voice of hers.

[X] Tell her the time is up and to get armored.
[X] Slip around Yashi and give the gish something to enjoy watching.

You shiver, Yashi's mystic voice giving you a thrill. The burnished mithril half-plate moves easily, designed to give you maximum mobility and protection; you easily step behind Yashi as she faces Kteine, and look the young gish in the eyes as you slowly slide your hands from Yashi's hips up to her sides. She arches and places her hands behind her to hold your hips, which presents her bust very nicely. Still gazing into those burned marigold eyes of Kteine's, both of your hands move up to caress Yashi's sides, then cup her breasts trough the form fitting leather armor. You squeeze, your delicately designed gauntlets making soft ringing noises as they scrape along the mithril studs in Yashi's own armor.

With a soft, sweet moan, Yashi presses her derriere against your hips, pressing into you like a feline might present for her mate. You close your teeth around the jeweled and chained decorations in her long ears and she gasps. Kteine does so as well as she presses and works her hand against and into her heated, soaked sex. Your eyes remain fixed on hers you let one of your hands stray to Yashi's crux, and firmly grip her, press her into you. She cries out in half-pained pleasure, her armor not hiving enough give for you to do anything but crush her softest places. The sound, the sight brings Kteine over the edge and she jerks violently in the throes of a second orgasm, which fades very slowly.

As she climaxes, you release Yashi's ear and she turns her head for a kiss, demanding yet soft and yielding once her demand is met. The kiss is slow and thorough, tongues tangling deeply. When you finally release her she purrs at you like a sated cat, and you can't help the soft giggle that escape your lips. “Where in the Fundament did you learn to do that?”

Yashi doesn't answer, only gives you a coy smile as she collects her property. You join her and collect Siobhan, whom you sheathe and place at your back. You feel the aura she strengthens yours with, and the strange song-like symbols that serve as her thought in your mind.

“That is enough for you....come and be armored.” Panting, Kteine rises and follows you to the doorway where her belongings are laid. He ignores the few githyanki that pass by as you and Yashi prepare her padding and clothing. You suspect it is more out of her trembling pleasure still bright and recent in her body and mind than a lack of body-shame. Which is good enough. You run your hands over her skin – not quite touching – and cleanse her of sweat and what little dust there is with Prestidigitation.

[] Your turn to kiss and tease while Yashi armors her.
[] Time to be more efficient – you only have two turnings left.
[] Just a quick taste, and then help her arm and armor herself.
[] Call to Yzia as Yashi assists Kteine.

[X] Time to be more efficient – you only have two turnings left.

“Assist me in armoring our rather shaken childer, Yashi.” You start with the upper padding, and Yashi glances at you, and then smiles faintly, delicate little mile of understanding and perhaps regret that the two of you must now rush a bit. “You will have plenty of time to cause trouble later.” Her raised eyebrows and delicate hand placed between her breasts is so ridiculous that you almost laugh.

Kteine is slow to start, her body still occasionally shaken with aftershocks from the intense pleasure she gave herself, but she does help. As a result the three of you have her outfitted and prepared to go in a moment. Disheveled hair aside.

My lady, we await your pleasure.

Indeed? Then it shall not be a long wait at all. Whom is it that you have included in 'we' my companion?

Perverse beast. Profligate lover. Lustful in excess. Myself, Yashi, and Kteine. All armed and armored, sorry to say. You do share the sights and sensations you enjoyed with the twain, however. Perhaps that will satiate your inexcusable desire to bed me.

It does but whet my appetites, Akko. The rush of desire is almost enough to make you weak in the knees. And you would be a liar before the Dead Gods if you did not admit that it get you wet to be desired so badly. Siobhan coos at you silently and you get second frisson of pleasure from her. Perhaps your Lady and I will have to arrange a quiet evening with Tzanzi....whom I believe owes you a good, hard, deep marking.

You can't help the color that comes to your cheeks as her mental voice invades a touch more deeply than usual, intimate and haunting. Dead Gods' blood, only you can make what is clearly torture sound like a night of heaven. Directing your two cadre members towards the side exit of the Column, where Yzia will meet you, you give yourself over to an imagining of Siobhan possessing a princess and tending your wounds as Tzanzi delivers her mark while Yzia hold you down forcefully.

Hypocrite, accuses the dragon as she rises from below the column, much to Kteine's awe and Yashi's interest. Shimmering golden hide appears across her neck and back as Siobhan fastens a riding harness for the three of you out of Astral material and ectoplasmic substances. Oh, they're beautiful! With Tzanzi and the other one like Kteine, you will make lovely contrast of light, dark, and silver-glass.... Tzanzi's dark armor and jeweled mask is a fine counterpoint to your own bright glass and mithril, while Yashi's dark leathers contrast beautifully with the white and mithril chain-mail Kteine wears.

Vainglorious sex fiend. There are succubi who do not suffer the weight of your desires and vanity! That earns you a slow, liquid chuckle and a hot gaze that undresses you on the spot from the iridescently gilt dragon. You shudder and Yashi caresses the back of your neck as you mount Yzia in a manner far less intimate than you'd prefer. Then she shifts seats with the inexperienced Kteine, showing her how to fasten the harnesses and straps to allow full her body movement in safety. Without your asking.

You're not entirely certain whether that is good or bad.

Yzia's flight takes but a moment, and she circles over the arena at height, gazing down. There are a surprising number of githyanki already arriving; it seems as though word has spread. “I doubt that she would be so foolish as not to show,” suggests Kteine cautiously.

“You would be correct,” you agree readily, making the delicate gish childer relax. “And I see more of our companions below.” Tzanzi, and to your surprise, Falna and Schechei, are awaiting your arrival at the preparation ground.

Shall I announce you, my beautiful treasure? Teases the dragon as she circles lower, in a fashion completely unnecessary in a plane where gravity exists as you will it to.

Yzia slowly circles lower as you try and locate Aeuna; she would not be wearing anything too much different than what she wore when you met her, you're certain; she was armed for battle then. I see now what you mean by speaking of her twin....such a lovely pair they make! I do want them both!

Careful – that is Falna's blooded mate you speak of, and unlike her twin, she is githyanki. You let a note of real warning slip through your mind.

Pah, she doesn't deserve them. You can't help but smile at her disdain, and you can feel it int entirely because she believes that.

Such a flatterer you have become, Yzia. Your affection rings clear and true in her mind and Siobhan whispers naughty things into your mind. No need for a display to start us off with. You may display you adoration of my triumph when I have beaten the lovely thing unconscious and given her a run-through.

Her menacing growl of pleasure makes all three of you shudder. Well, you and Yashi shudder – Kteine makes a low, sweet moan and leans against your back, her hands holding the straps but gripping your sides. You chuckle softly and lean back to brush your cheek against her dark hair. Poor thing is still oversensitive.

The arena is 10 furlongs in length and width, more or less, and contains warding circles, floating stones, a sculpture of water in long spirals and loops that orbit a burning mass of blue and white flames, and a crystalline sculpture broken up into three parts and scattered across the field of battle. The height is half the length, and the dome balloons outward here. There are no protections or wards to defend the audience, should one attend – the raised seats are of stone formed from the stuff of the Bloom itself, and solid. The principle is brutally simple – if you cannot defend yourself from what the duel entails, you shouldn't be present at one.

You wholeheartedly approve.

Yzia lands near the others, and settles onto her haunches and forelimbs, allowing the three of you to dismount. She remains there, watching you, her glowing eyes taking in the beauty of your cadre. The dragon heartily approves of your choices so far save for Falna, whom she dislikes more on principle than any actual reason. You're not entirely sure what the story is there, save that it concerns Falna's dismissal of you. You were not her companion then, though you knew Yzia well by that time.

Falna and Schechei salute you, and Kteine and Yashi salute them back, while you acknowledge them with a rake of your eyes and a brush of your sash which sweeps towards them – offering hope that you will bring them honors, bounty, and glory. Kteine quickly steps over to them and Falna sweeps her into an embrace, which Schechei smiles at. She looks exhausted and her cheeks are deeply bruised, her lips soft and swollen with brutal kisses. Her chain shirt , greaves and vambraces, and her white and gold tabard hide any other injuries she's sustained, aside from a pronounced limp favoring her left leg. Yashi grins at her and Schechei is taken aback before those pale eyes seek Tzanzi.

Tzanzi is dressed in her gleaming black and onyx splint mail, her wicked blade at her side. You adjust Siobhan's sheath as well as you take Tzanzi's hands. “I am keeping the mask. It is mine now and forever.”

She chuckles warm and low. “If you wish, my Leader.” You smile and Yashi greets Tzanzi personally, by name; the way she says it makes things deep inside your body clench tight and your heart race. “Beautiful Yashi, I am glad you have chosen Akko to Lead you. We will enjoy your company well.” Those pale eyes widen and she smiles, a tiny delighted smile that could break your heart if you didn't know the mind behind it was as malevolent as could be tolerated.

Kteine receives intimate kisses from her twin, who returns them with enthusiasm. You have to admit you are somewhat surprised. The surprise is lessened when you see Schechei's expression as Kteine kisses and traces Falna's body under her splint mail. You will definitely have to speak to Kteine carefully since she doesn't seem to have caught your hints. Falna receives a cool greeting from you, though polite, and Schechei with a little more acceptance. Falna's response is deeply respectful however, and Schechei's almost too respectful. Malnae just hates at you and Siobhan immediately lashes Malnae into subservience with her righteous fury. Falna doesn't mention it to you.

Oh, she does look edible, my pretty treasure. I think I want that one for my wall. This is not merely for you, but your entire cadre; you all turn and look at the center of the arena, where Aeuna stalks slowly towards you. There are already cushions being formed, bets being made, and the mental hum of discussion in the seats. Aeuna looks exactly as you saw her lat save for the power surrounding her and the gleam of psychic energies that swirl about her aura. She seems quite serious.

You draw Siobhan and prepare your incantations. “Wonderful. I would hate for this to be boring.” Magic erupts in the air around you as your one-time assassin comes to try and kill you.

So wait, is Siobhan stronger than Malnae due to our Mythic stuff? I'm not really sure what determines how strongwilled a Silver Sword is.
>>
So Yashi and Tzanzi are on named terms huh, that's convenient. I assume Falna and Schechei noticed Kteine's disheveled if not quite ravished state? Also, I imagine Yzia didn't address Aeuna herself with the last part?

>>928347
Will we be going all out using our memorized spells and such as we want, or is there some kind of formalized ruleset regarding what to do and not do in the duel?
Not that offensive spells are likely to do that much against a magebreaker.
>>
So is the nature of the twins known to everyone? I can't see how people couldn't notice or realize what it means to have twin githyanki.
>>
>>928399
Adding to this, how in the hells hadn't we already seen or heard of them previously?
>>
>>928399
Between simply having them out in public, and her apparently showing them to her previous cadre, it can't be a well-kept secret at least. I doubt most people have been told or realize exactly what's up with them though.
>>
>>928360
Yes, but she's also more actiue because of the attention Akko pays her.

Siobhan is now a Legendary Weapon, which is a Mythic Path ability that gives Sionhan some mythic powers which she uses on your behalf (a defensive force armor effect that goes up as you rise in tiers, Mythic Spells you may cast when you are holding her, and she can also be used to do severe damage to physical objects, ignoring DR and Hardness entirely. Siobhan can break nonmagical adamatine weapons with ease.

Before she became a legendary weapon her Ego was already 33 - that's nearly artifact level right there. Now it is immeasurable.

>>928364
Tzanzi is famous in the stronghold, and Yashi is ancient. It would have been strange fro them not to be. Falna did not seem to, but Schechei did. Yzia did not address Aeuna, only her cadre (she thinks of the cadre as hers, and Akko is just borrowing it. Maybe.).
>>
>>928378
Depends on how they are used.

The basic rules are "Decide on a point at which it ends. Then fight until that point is reached. Try not to involve others unless you decide on that beforehand."

And that's it. The Silver Swords observe the duel, and if there are doubts, questions, or a halt to be called, their masters mediate. Some duels have gone on for weeks. Some are even less clearly defined than these rules make them out to be. The important part is someone wins, and someone loses.

How that is achieved is a lot less....defined.

>>928433
>>928431
>>928399
No, their true nature is not knows. And as impossible as it is, remember - there are fairly high level spellcasters, and githyanki get bored. It would not be strange for a mated pair to do something that weird. Most people don't actually care - if they do their duty to the race and continue to fight the war, they can do almost anything they like that doesn't harm the race, or the war.

That said, Kteine has to be careful. Akko wasn't kidding about being pulled up for an inquisition. The worst that could happen is Akko gets eaten by the lich queen and Kteine is ritually killed and used as magical parts or scrying tools.

I'll be asleep when you run, but I hope you guys take Aeuna seriously. As much as we might want to grope her perfect butt during the duel we can give her skills due respect until afterward.

Then it's butt groping. I'm looking forward to that when I check the archives.

>>

>>
>>928684

>>

I'm not that good at prognostication (look at what happened in Ryukuza Quest, anons decided they would not fight the big bad King of Demons, but instead had tea and politely excused themselves from his existence and sent him home).

I know they want to treat her as a serious threat and sex her up, and that's the tack I'm taking with her situations.
>>
>>928732
It's a shame we have to beat her down so badly, I have half a mind to ravishing her right on the dueling grounds when we win. But being somewhere between unconscious and mortally wounded is a bit of a mood killer. Probably.

To be fair, I tend to gloss over most of Anon's response while I move from story post to story post. Glad to see those actually participating are of like mind. That's something that's always been a problem for me, being primarily an archive reader.

Now if only I could convince the dice gods to have us get non-con mind-sexed by that Githzerai, everything would be perfect...
>>
>>928826
Running the dice will be the hardest part of the battle. I'll figure something out though.
>>
>>928839
It would be a shame if we accidentally killed her. Difficult to reverse as well.
>>
>>928855
This is not Akko's first waltz in the dueling arena - remember, she's about as high a level gish as can be expected to escape unwarranted attention or not become a Supreme Leader and make a stronghold of her own. She has plenty of experience killing and not killing alike.

Githyanki try not to kill illithid thralls and slaves if they can help it - non-lethal combat is an option for them.
>>
>>928869
True, but a lot depends on her level of skill and seriousness.

From our interactions i think it would be safe to say that she is going to treat the fight deadly serious, as she should.

If we are evenly matched then Akko gains prestige for taking down a strong opponent who is specialized in fighting her type of combatant.

Also important is our "communication" with the wider gith community.

Should be fun.

Well, we try to do stuff like that often. Hell, Ryukusa nearly always give a chance or several.

Part 5 – Session 2

The litanies and incantations roll off your tongue as easily as the gestures come to hand. Spells you have known most of your life, some of them, others more recent acquisitions and discoveries. It takes nearly a tenth-turning to build your defenses, and even then you hold off on one last spell. The tell-tale shimmer of the second to last one causes your body to erupt in strange shadowy flames, the wispy flicker of the Shadow That Abides mixing with the Shadow That Lives. Your enemy is unfamiliar with this version of the spell, and hesitates on her approach.

Your enemy is the Gish-Psychic Aeuna, an assassin and warrior who specializes in taking down casters and in close combat. She draws her deep crystal blade, and the obsidian-like crystal takes on a hot white glow from within as she feeds power into it. The crystal-mesh shirt she wears is proofed against magic, but you have doubts it will hold up against your capability. You can see the faint shimmer of protections about her, augmented psychic force that protects her as your spells protect you.

The rush of potential battle makes your heart beat faster and you flex your open hand as Siobhan starts to sing inside your mind. You lower her, pointing her towards the ground in a defensive threat, and give her the arcane force you cultivate so carefully....along with a dose of the ancient and eldritch energies that you received from an impossible phantom of an ancient creature. Red energies flow along her edge, and then a shimmer of rainbow. That others can see this particular aura you are not concerned by – even if they could pierce the Nondetection spell, Siobhan has always been a strange weapon. With your magic and your arcane force, you too have increased the heaviness of your blade, just as Aeuna has hers. The difference is that yours is also empowered by a touch of your own personal power as well.

At the moment there is very little that Siobhan couldn't destroy with a single strike aside from actual walls – if only because they are too thick.

Still, the point of this battle is not t kill Aeuna, but to satisfy her need to fulfill an oath to an idiot you executed. One she has, she might – probably will – join your cadre, the last of the warriors you will take on Dunzamn's raid. With another century-weight of turnings, you'll have plenty of time to recover and get to know the soft, full bodies psychic warrior. Yzia watches her approach and Aeuna looks suitably impressed. When she is a mere thirty paces off you incant the final spell; her attention is immediately focused on you, but you salute her despite that, and she does the same for you – reluctantly.

Predictable. Just predictable enough.

A Glimpse of Truth lasts only seconds, but it is more than enough. The burst of auras you see are momentary but it tells you everything you need to know.

Aeuna is a creature or order and organization, a githyanki of planning. She doesn't have your vicious streak, or Tzanzi's damage, or Yashi's malevolence, but she has an equal amount of intense dedication. Her armor is unable to protect her from the fleeting Truesight the spell gives you; it will barely protect her from your magics at all unless you are exceedingly unfortunate. She had fortified her body heavily, using her psychic energy to make her flesh more dense and harden her skin, and she has also crafted a web of force lines to shield herself with. You were right about her sword; it is enchanted to become heavier upon the instant of impact, giving her a more powerful blow. It is also venomous, her psychic energy providing a slick of wicked poison for it. Her free hand is clawed and also envenomed, thought the venom is more psychic than physical in that case. Much of her psychic energy is invested in her defenses and the venom, but she has enough to rebuild all of them, if she does not focus it towards other uses. The glow f her eyes is from a prescience discipline, one to assist her in timing her attacks and defeating your defenses.

She is excited and nervous, and looking forward to the battle as much as you are.

“Leader Gish-Arcane Akko,” she announces loudly, her psychic communication carrying her 'voice' to those in the arena. Showmanship, excellent! “I have come as requested to engage you in a duel to the Deep Blood or to Surrender. Should I lose, I will join your cadre as an oath-bound warrior. What terms do you wish to add to this duel?” Unspoken is the fact that if she wins she will have earned great prestige, to say nothing of respect. You would even give her an honor for it, you suppose.

I could be off the mark here, like I'm not sure if Githyanki are the kind where "I wanna fight you to the severe wound" "okay" is common. I just find it hard to believe anyone cares about Gero's opinions, especailly after he's dead.

[X] Deep Blood, or Surrender, and an honor to you if you win.
>Currently, Akko is Hasted, has no penalties to attack roles for fighting using Combat Expertise, has bonuses against any grapples, suffers no armor check penalties, and has a damaging aura that gives heals her as it damages her opponent. She receives extra dodge bonuses to her AC as well as from both Haste and Extreme Flexibility, along with her Shield spell. She also has Stoneskin active.

You smile faintly, the idea of adding terms to a fight seeming a little ridiculous when you are used to fighting for you life in every fight you start. Duels notwithstanding. “Deep Blood or Surrender, and if you win, I will give you an honor. Two if you win well.” She inclines her head, but does not take her eyes off you. You salute her. “Then again, I am under the impression that you wished to test your skills against me personally. I am flattered by your attention.” That makes her blush a little, her soft cheeks darkening from a warm grey to a cooler one. Adorable!

“If there are any further powers or spells you wish to invoke,” you call to her, “you may do so now.” You grin and prepare yourself for battle as she spreads the talons of her right hand and hefts her glowing blade in her right. Siobhan's song intensifies and you feel your pulse pounding.

“Very well,” she cals and concentrates, raising the psychic energy to manifest the science she has studied so diligently.

And then you are in front of her, shifted through space in a manner normally impossible in the Astral Plane and she is bringing her sword down, investing her entire focus, all her psychic force into this single blow in order to end the fight in a single strike. The dull white glow at the center of her blade explodes into a seething brilliance that makes all of your combined armors and jewelry explode into brilliance. Siobhan's shriek of joy is only 'audible' to you, but you grin despite yourself, baring your spurs at the healthy githyanki woman before you.

If you were not always on your defensive when on the battlefield, you would have been entirely caught off guard; as it stands, she is definitely starting this fight!

Honestly I'm not a big DnD player so I'm unsure of what would constitute a large investment in magic.

I just was thinking it would be better to strip her protections and then her ability to cast so she has to rely just on her fighting skills - and then we could debuff those into being negligible.

Rolling for Aeuna's single attack, then her full round attack which will be Weapon Strike, then attempt to begin a Grapple.

5
Aeuna's eyes widen comically as you backhand her sword aside with your left bracer, the massive charge of psychic energy exploding from the blade in a burst of golden sparks that fly off in a burst that lights up the entire arena.

18
You grin viciously as she immediately refocuses, centering herself with a single thought; she loops the blade back and swings underneath, the sword biting into your side, forcing you to exhale sharply. It bruises your ribs more than actually harming you, but you're certain that explosion of psychic energy would have been agonizing. It will take her a few seconds to build up to that capacity again, you suspect. You also note the hiss of agony and the rush of potency as the shadowy flames draw her vitality way and siphon some into your own veins.

11
She comes in with her claws at your right side, but you flip Siobhan under her arm and whip it away, your impossible flexibility enabling you to avoid the poisonous claws, and more importantly the powerful grasp that would have been extraordinarily difficult to escape.

11, 18,
You murmur the litany of Names and Runes to unweave her power, Siobhan guiding your mind and showing you the weaknesses in her psychic powers construction. She tries to interrupt you
7
but you are no novice gish. You fend off her sword strike with Siobhan, your Lady still whispering arcane secrets. Aeuna gasps and her spurs flash as she grimaces in shock, her skin becoming once more supple and delicate. You suspect the the other power gave her the ability to see around herself in every direction, because she now looks directly at your eyes instead of straight forward as she had been.
>>
4
You concentrate and compress one of your most powerful spells into a few shouted words and a quick flick of your hand, and then channel the spell through the arcane force around you and through Siobhan. Your blade slides around hers, the crystal of her sword and silver of yours singing loudly as they scrape together, and you manage to just slip past her defense, laying her cheek open. If you had not broken her skin-toughening discipline, would would not have wounded her. She gasps and her soft skin takes on a deeper blush as the spell stars to heat her blood. Aeuna sags, fatigue setting in.

She's in for an unpleasant surprise if she manages to protects herself through your assault.

14
As if sliing her cheek open wasnt enough, you whip Siobhan around and up, grabbing her hilt with your other hand for leverage. She tries to move out of the way – literally flying up over the blade – but you go for maneuverability rather than power with your two-handed attack. Siobhan's enhancements do the work for you as she crashes into the armor across Aeuna's chest and drives her breath from her. You don't stop there.

6
With blinding speed you wrap Siobhan in a reversal of the previous attack. She tries to bring her blade up to protect her face and head, which she does admirably, but you turn Siobhan around to her exulting cry in your mind and stab Aeuna in the kidney from above since she is parrallel to the ground. The impact makes her look nauseous; another you wouldn't have been able to slip through if she had her toughened flesh.

3
Dropping your free hand away from your Lady-love's hilt, you swing from the left, but this she blocks easily with her crystal blade, rotating in place and curling up to make herself a smaller target.

28
You whirl Siobhan around and she tries to turn and defend with her vambrace and reinforced glove, but does not move quite fast enough; Siobhan crashes into her back with enough force to slam her to the ground before you; she bounces up and remains floating there, unconscious and helpless.

You fling the few tiny drops of blood off your blade and look at the lovely woman you've just beaten into unconsciousness, the roar of the watchers and their deep hisses of amusement and pleasure a thrill. Did you even hold back a little bit, Akko? Yzia murmurs into the minds of those nearest. You turn and look at your cadre. Yashi's expression is one of astonishment, while Tzanzi is covering her mouth and chuckling softly into her hand. Falna is staring at you in shock, while the two acolytes re gaping at you.

Why would I insult someone by holding back at all? I think I need to seriously work on her defenses however; she is far too slow for the efforts she needs to put into this. I hope Tzanzi can improve upon her armor as well; she desperately needs the assistance. Sheathing Siobhan, you suddenly grin, and look at her body, floating prone above the ground of the arena.

So if I understand Githyanki mores, it'd be considered socially acceptable for Yzia and Akko to deflower Aeuna like as soon as she's conscious and if she wanted to right? I mean she almost certainly doesn't, but still.

I don't see it that way. She saw how effortlessly we demolished Gero, as well as other evidence of our magical and martial skill.

If anything her courage should be applauded for agreing to fight us at all, like even if Akko more or less openly said she'd heal Aeuna if Akko won, she still deserves props for willing to try.
>>
>>932089
And by >as soon as she's conscious
I mean before the onlookers dispersed.

Though, and again I'm well aware of this, Yzia might be greedy enough that she doesn't even want to share the view with anyone but Akko, and even if Githyanki don't have much taboos in that area, I'd be surprised if Aeuna was that bold.

You cast the other unweaving quickly enough that her blood does not boil inside her veins; even unconscious she relaxes a little as the spell lets her body cool. You gently turn her floating body over, lifting her up and arranging her body. Planting her blade in the concrete of the arena, driving the tip inches into the stonework, you lift Siobhan. Shimmering chains and manacles of dark, iridescent crystal appear on her, floating freely – the ends are spiked. Taking each spike, you drive it into the ground with your booted heel, so that she is bound on her knees and bent back slightly, her hands behind her.

Then you take out the vial of precious infernal ichor, and pour it along your fingertip. Rather than using it to heal yourself – the injury he inflicted is merely a deep bruise, nearly harmless – you paint it across your lips, to the interest of Yzia and your Lady. And undoubtedly your cadre, but you are too busy to look. Stroking her hair, you lean over her, aware of many, many eyes upon you. You incant the spell, specifying another as the recipient rather than yourself.

When you press the spicy-bitter kiss to her lips, she stirs a little....the ichor you painted onto your lips sinks into hers discoloring them faintly. The cut along her cheek heals first and quickly, superficial as it was. Her other injuries are much slower to heal, being battered flesh and bones. She would be black and blue save for this kindness. She may still be black and blue, even with this kindness. Your cadre approaches, Tzanzi at the lead.

“If I did not know better, Akko, I would say you had planned that,” the low, sweet voice of your friend murmurs. The only affection she shoes you is her hand lightly sliding across your hip and Siobhan's hilt, a familiarity that most would interpret as casual flirting rather than the intimacy it truly is. “She is lovely, and very soft looking, but it is not the softness of inexperience.”

Yashi walks around the bound and helpless Aeuna, the chains crackling with silver flames a she does so, though it I clearly an illusion. Wisps of glittering power and shimmering flames circle your 'prisoner'. Falna stands behind you, her acolytes in tow. The awe in their faces remains, but there is a distinct look of confusion in Kteine's gaze, while Schechei's look barely conceals the desire for power such as you possess. Falna herself has recovered her wits, you suspect that she will not be prone to challenging you for any reason whatsoever after that display.

Though that reminds me, what determines whether or not Akko needs a material component for her spells? Like was that flick meant to be the drop of mercury needed for Blood Boil, or does Siobhan make that unnecessary?
>>
>>932174
>Shiobhan's handle has a vial of mercury inside it that Akko uses for that particular spell - she generally uses it only with spell strikes, so its on hand when she needs it there. She tries to avoid material component spell when she can.
>>
>>932174

There is no way to avoid using a material component that's worth gold coins.

Well, aside from things like Wish and maybe some ridiculously high level features.
>>
>>932183
The Mythic version of Eschew Material lets you eschew components if 10g or less. Even the basic version lets you avoid using 1g worth components.
>>

>Shiobhan's handle has a vial of mercury inside it that Akko uses for that particular spell - she generally uses it only with spell strikes, so its on hand when she needs it there. She tries to avoid material component spell when she can.
That is amazing, though mildly disturbing that Akko likes that spell enough that she always has it ready. Then again, seems like a pretty good technique to use on anyone who has blood.
>>
>>932183
Looking it up, Eschew Materials would void the component need in Blood Boil. So it was a option.

[X] Smile and gently waken the lovely woman; you're not done yet!
[X] Yzia is planning on giving her quite the experience.
[] Write in?

You favor Tzanzi with a wicked smile of your own and the dark murderess incline her head, her eye gleaming with amusement beside the mask that hides the left side of her face. With a slow caress, you cup Aeuna's breast, and lean over her once more, murmuring another spell. The two young githyanki step back, slightly behind Falna, giving her precedence in what she chooses to do; she remains there, watching, having seen you play out these 'charades' before.

Electricity erupts around your hand, and Aeuna arches in literal shock as you waken her in spasm. You smile and draw your hand away, but you leave the spell in place as you stand up, saluting her with your left hand crackling with electric and sparks traveling between those fingers that are spread. You broadcast as you speak, those remaining to observe seeming to enjoy the show you are putting on. “Attend.

Instantly you have the attention of every silver sword nearby – and there are lot more than you anticipated. You give cautious glances to the sides; the number of Knights here is at last a quarter of the number in the stronghold.

How alarming.

I accept Aeuna into my service for the duration of Dunzamn's Raid against Elf and Human, less Death, or the Silver Cord is Cut; I vow she will receive a rightful due of the bounty representing slaves she does not take.” Though she I still slightly dazed, she nods respectfully, appreciating the consideration. Of course that isn't all of it, and her eyes widen at your next statement. “I vow that Gish-Psychic Aeuna will be able to hold her own against me next that we duel, in return for her accompaniment with myself and Yzia on the next Raid, Defense, or Lair-making that I make.”

Aeuna glances at the dragon who looks down upon you as she rises, sitting on her haunches but standing on her forelegs to look over your cadre. She looks at you and bows her head as best she can. “I so avow and accept.

You lean close, and murmur to her, “Sealed with a kiss.” That prompts another blush and she accepts the kiss, even allowing you to deepen it. Placing your left hand over her breast, you squeeze lightly, and then slip it behind her to cup that incredibly firm yet soft bottom of hers through her crystalline armor. She makes a small noise that isn't quite protest, and you release her bottom and break the kiss. “So sealed,” you whisper, winking at her. Her cheeks are dark, and she looks faintly discomfited.

But not annoyed or displeased.

You stand up and step back slowly, drawing Siobhan. “You now belong to us!” you cry loudly, and your word are echoed by all of you cadre, even Yashi. “AHN!” Yzia spreads her winds high and up, so that they do not block the view the arena has of her, and Aeuna's eyes grow huge as she stares at the massive maw and the fangs within....then the scintillating glow as Yzia inhales.... You bring down Siobhan and Yzia unleashes her breath upon the chains, white hot sun-fire and golden light disintegrating the spikes and a good portion of the chains and making a three-quarters circle around the beautiful gish.

The molten stonework smokes as Aeuna rises and walks out of the near-circle on the somewhat narrow remaining stone to join your cadre. Siobhan coos and hum to you silently as you gesture to her wrists. Altering Siobhan's enhancements slightly, you shatter all four of the manacles on Aeuna's wrists and ankles with four nearly faster-than-can-be-followed strikes. She salutes you, and you salute her back, to the hisses and calls of the audience.

Not many of the Knights do so, you notice.

Yzia lowers herself, and her tail curls around to slide town your back. Tzanzi studies the gish with a smile, and Aeuna salutes the legendary murderess with a touch of awe. “Besides, Yzia is very much interested in giving you all sorts of new experiences,” you remark more quietly, making Yashi glance at the dragon with interest, and Kteine look slightly appalled. Falna smirks slightly, while Schechei looks at Yzia doubtfully.

“She did not strike me as one used to the attentions of females, Akko,” admonishes Tzanzi gently, though she is still smiling.

I can be male if that what she prefers, comments Yzia as you gather your cadre.

“Well, so can I, but that really is beside the point.” Kteine blinks at you, and Falna makes a slightly rude gesture that you ignore. “Aeuna, I would like you to join me in my cell. The rest of you are invited if you desire, but I only require Aeuna. Siobhan, if you please?” You place her in her sheath and adjust her strapping so she is along your back again; Aeuna does the same with her blade. You notice Schechei already studying your adjustable sheaths with a thoughtful expression; she is already becoming a dangerous creature.

“I will decline; I wish to speak with the acolytes for a while.” Falna rises, and the twins do so as well, and all three salute you. You incline your head and they move away quickly. You don't have high hopes for that conversation.

“Yashi and I may join you later. I understand we have something on the order of near a century-and-twenty turnings before we must be ready to leave?” Tzanzi plays with the leather braids that are tassels for her blade.

The suggestive – to you – gesture earns your smile as Yashi moves to look up at Tzanzi curiously. “And-sixty, but I would like us to meet at and-twenty.” She nods. “Unless you finish early and would like to join us.”

Yashi looks at you with her lovely youthful gaze, and you feel a frisson of anticipation at the darkness in her gaze.

Wait does that mean one hundred and twenty turnings?
>>
>>932246
Or wait it means twelve turnings doesn't it? Since that means there's like four hours to meet up as opposed to several days.
>>
>>932246
A century is a hundred years. So presumably it means one hundred turnings.

So 120 turnings until Akko wants to meet with everyone and 160 until the raid starts.
>>
We're not going to regain or change our spells before the raid?

We're prepared for a duel, not a raid.

[X] Smile and return the threat with your own.
[X] Write in? Oh, you think you are that much more dangerous than I, pretty? Tzanzi is something else, you know....or you willknow!

Yashi is an ancient creature, filled with malevolence and struggling to stave of ennui to the point of creating dangerous situations around herself. You don't mind – you do the same thing, though much more playfully and less use of others in your games.

A slow, wicked smile crosses your lips, and Yashi stiffens slightly; you can feel intent coming from her, and it is quite the wild experience. Her expressionless look doesn't change at all. Despite the danger she seems to radiate in wave, you slowly walk past her, looking at her as you do so, and then step up to Tzanzi. Siobhan purrs inside your mind, the proximity of he favorite always a pleasure for her.

That is one lovely and dangerous creature you have found to play with, my love. I am so very much looking forward to this raid.... Her words are for you only this time – well, and Siobhan, who giggles in your brain.

Oh, it will be very entertaining, I promise....

Tzanzi smiles down at you, her eyes half-closed, her good right eye filed with both curiosity and amusement. You glance towards Yashi and rise onto your toes as you lift your hand and slide it into Tzanzi' long, dark locks. You pull her head down slightly, and murmur to her as you turn your gaze to hers. “Tzanzi....” You slide your fingers in the braid of the hilt of her still sheathed blade. She looks down at you, curious and now hungry for your touch as well.

Good.

You loop your fingers and wind them in the leather braids, the shimmering golden beads that keep them intact chiming softly in the sudden silence. “Next we meet, I will want your marks on my flesh, and in my bones.” Her sharp inhalation is more expression than necessity here, and Yashi's eyes blaze with emotions you can't even properly identify. You've all but asked Tzanzi to be your mate. Yzia's hot, liquid laughter reverberates in your mind and Siobhan is whining because she wants it to happen right now! “I want to feel your spurs in my flesh....” Her breasts heave softly against yours, though you can't feel them through your armor. You pull her sword a few inches from the sheath, the shimmering void crystal glittering with power.

She is string down at you, and you kiss the corner of her mouth, soft and gentle, as you slide the sword lowly back into her heath, angling it slightly so the serrated edge scraped along the metal band with delicate ringing noises. Then you punctuate your words with kisses across her lips against her soft warm throat. “I want you....to....make....me....cry.” You lower yourself with deliberate slowness, and with the same deliberation free your fingers from the braids as you look into her desperate, needful eye.
>>
You step back slowly, watching Tzanzi carefully, your head slightly lowered and your hand across your breastplate....the other open wide and ready to grab for Siobhan even as awkward as the draw might be. The reason being because Tzanzi's mouth is open in a moue of gape, her spurs barely hidden, and her hands stiffened into claws. You slowly, carefully retreat from her, and Yashi is staring at Tzanzi in equal parts fascination and horror.

Without moving a muscle more than you have to you whisper softly to Yashi. “....have fun....” She looks a you in alarm....and you dart behind her and give her a hard shove.

Tzanzi POUNCES.

Yashi keens like a little feral as she is pinned under the trembling, lean shape of raw sexual violence that is Tzanzi, and you grab Aeuna and run towards Yzia. Siobhan is gleefully laughing – actual real laughter – in your mind as you swing Aeuna up to the harness you had Siobhan make earlier. Leaping for your on traces and jesses, you grab on and Yzia is booming laughter in your mind as you move yourself up to your position, at the base of her neck, breathing hard and feeling a little weak with terror.

“By Her Unspoken Name, how on earth could you allow her in your cadre, Akko?!” Aeuna asks, trembling along your back and holding tight about your waist for comfort and safety, despite your Lady being in her way.

“Why would I not invite my best friend on a princess-hunt for my beloved companion?” you ask mildly, ignoring the tremble in your own hands.

[X] Take your new cadre member to the Bones of the Dead Gods.
[X] Write in? Oh yeah, poisoned.

You are both a little shaken by the experience, but you calm more quickly than Aeuna does. After all, you're the one who started the fiasco, you should have been ready for something like it at least.

You can't wait to do it again for yourself.

I have changed my mind. If you would not mind, I would like to take Aeuna to the Dead Gods. You inform Siobhan with the same though, and she informs other Silver Sword. Malnae will get the message eventually, while Yashi and Tzanzi will probably be quite busy for a while. With many things.

You hope Tzanzi doesn't eat Yashi. Well you do, but not really. You suppress an atavistic shudder.

Yzia is still chortling in your mind when she answers. For what you have done, I will happily take you anywhere you like, in any way you please, my beauty! The fact that Yashi will undoubtedly want revenge figures heavily into the 'what you have done' part. I can't believe you would do that to an illusionist, much less at you did to poor Tzanzi!

Aeuna is shaking behind you still as Yzia moves towards the Greater Gate of the arena's Bloom. It is open of course and she slides through without being contested. Because only idiots would contest one of the Solar Dragons entering or leaving without a dragon to back them up. Aeuna looks up as she senses Yzia moving away from the Bloom.

“Where are you taking me?” she asks curiously, unafraid; you are her Leader, and have the power of life and death over her. She's spend most of her time serving under various leaders; that's why she looks he way she does, of course. So her question is merely academic and curious, rather than fed by the still palpable fear that Tzanzi inspired.

Wrapping of of the traces Siobhan crafted around your wrist, you casually let yourself move over her, and turn, then settle on her back again. Since you're at the base of her neck, you have to use the crafted harness and cords; your own place is much further up, at the back of your beloved companion's crown of horns when you are alone with her.
>>
“I am taking you to my home away from home,” you reply mildly as you gently check her face with your fingertips. She realizes quickly you are checking her injuries when you touch her cheek, and submits to your light caress. “We are armored well enough and I have nearly a full complement of magics, save for defensive ones. Even those I can recover most of quite quickly if I need to.”

That declaration makes her cheeks darken slightly and she looks down. “I underestimated you badly, Akko.” There is no apology in her voice; nor would you want one. “You may be sure it will not happen ever again.” There is no threat there, but it makes you smile anyways.

“Against a spellcaster you would have overwhelmed them entirely and had much better luck. As it was, if I had not managed to remove one of those defenses, the fight would have been much closer, I suspect.” You slide your hands down her full bosom, and smile as she blushes more deeply. When your hands move from her belly (so soft!) to her sides, Aeuna winces but tolerates the cares exploration. “No bruised ribs?”

She shakes her head. I only have a minimal reserve of power left; I used much of it to recuperate, and left only enough for a single defensive ability at the maximum of my strength.” The lovely gish looks at you seriously. “Tzanzi might be a monster. I have heard the tales of her, but that was....unexpected? Shocking, perhaps.”

Siobhan growls a little at the insult to her occasional dogsbody.

Also she seems to be Akko's friend (or at least friend-analogue), so I'm not sure if we should chide Aeuna or not. I mean, she's not WRONG per say. Also it might be the Githyanki way for Tzanzi to defend herself, but I'm not sure how that works when the person being talked about is not present.

[XX] Tzanzi is a githyanki of great breadth and depth.
[X] Most old githyanki are monsters.
[x] We all become quite strange when we become old.
[x] Write in? Examine her injuries lovingly and gently. Teasingly.
[+] Automatic: Ask her about that venom, now that you think about it.

“After one passes your third or fourth century in the Astral Plane, one becomes fairly strange regardless. It is something of a hallmark of the githyanki that we do become strange. Yashi and yourself are more outlier than the rest of us, Tzanzi included, you know.” You loo into those soft eyes the color of burnished teak or warmed chocolate, and smile faintly. “We are all monsters when we become old. You have been in the material too long, been at war too much. That is not meant as a denigration!” you quickly clarify when her expression hardens.

She relaxes a little as you lean into her, your hands sliding around to her back, but winces slightly as you caress the place when Siobhan's tip slammed into her kidney. “I am not saying your raiding or war-making is a bad thing in the slightest, just that you have grown and aged as many have not. Slept and ate and drank. Those left here age strangely without those pleasures and difficulties, and we become monsters in many ways. But it is what gives us the opportunity to defeat the enemy as well.” That mollifies her as well as you slide your hands further up her back. The massive bruise that would have been along her back is gone; just the bruises of her flesh over her ribs, and that wicked kidney strike.

The expression on her face when she realizes how close you are to her, and how you have embraced her, is absolutely precious. You don't let go either, content to hold her lose and see if she will relax as she has before. “Tzanzi is....extraordinary in many ways. She has survived in a situation where others merely died or let themselves die. She is without the greatest advantage we have against the enemy. She is scared in ways that can never be healed.”

You hesitate, but only for a few seconds. Leaving one hand at her back, your breasts and hers pressed together (though your armor mostly crushes hers, which seem to both discomfit and excite her), you reach up and caress her cheek. “She seeks pleasure, as many of us do. Most can only see what she has become, and recall what she has done. Tzanzi is efficiency and control outside the Stronghold. But she desires. She wants.” You trace her lips as you speak, your eyes fixed on hrs. She is breathing faster now. “Her lusts and needs are fascinating and complex. Tzanzi and Siobhan are different than others of their kind. Akko is as well, but she doe not realize how different she is, Yzia calmly interjects. You glance over your shoulder towards where her head is, though you cant actually look at her directly. Akko is different in that she bothers to understand why your people are the way they are, and embraces it wholeheartedly. She is not socially conditioned, she is socially aware. Her grin is in your mind, though she can't do so in her current form. That is why she is so wise sounding for one so young.

“Now that was uncalled for....” you complain, and Aeuna giggles, covering her spurs with one hand as you place your hands on your hips. You catch a glimpse of something and push away from Yzia's back to move next to her, keeping even and close to Aeuna. “There.”

You can see the dusty looking mote n the 'distance' as Yzia moves towards it. No brightness or flashes, so things seem stable at the moment.

Aeuna gapes in surprise, her hand dropping to reveal her spurs. “The Dead Gods? You consider that place home?”

“Yes. It is a place....well, you will have to see for yourself. Speaking of that place....you poisoned me. Should I be concerned? Or is it a strange attempt to get closer to me by forcing me to seek vengeance when I move to the material and the poison nearly kills me?” the lack of anger confuse Aeuna, and she glances at you only to realize you're not even joking. “It would not be the first time,” you comment mildly, making Siobhan giggle again.

“I will give you an antidote when we have arrived, Akko. I cannot reach it while riding.” Reasonable enough.

“There is one other thing.” You move so that you are hovering above the saddle that Siobhan made for you, moving at the same pace as Yzia and Aeuna. She looks at you in confusion, and then worry as she sees how serious you are being. “Between Yashi and Tzanzi, if I were to chose the lesser monster, the lesser threat....I would chose Tzanzi. Tzanzi will only bite pieces off of your body.” She stare at you, and then slowly very slowly nods. You nod back and move back to your place along side her.

[X] Take her to the Garden.

How does it look?

there is no movement, and nothing is awake that we need to be concernd about. Though, I am somewhat impressed you're taking Aeuna here. I expected it to be my cell, you your vault. She scans the approaching motes and shapes carefully, her draconic eyes far sharper than yours would be even with magic. You really like her that much already?

Your can't help but let your affection filter through your thoughts as you laugh gently at Yzia. I am not taking her here for me, you massive dolt. I am bringing her here for you! Yzia's astonishment is great enough that she actually hesitates in her movement, making Aeuna look at the dragon in alarm. I am going to enjoy the show.

Yzia's next sending is filled with wonder and sprinkled with confusion. And lust. Lots of that. You manage to surprise me so quickly, again and again, Akko....

You sniff, and Aeuna looks at you. It is not my fault you can not keep up, you chide gently, much to Siobhan's amusement. “There. Take us in that direction for now.” You point, but Yzia sees more what your intent is, than the direction you men for her to go. Aeuna relaxes again, now that Yzia is no longer having issues moving through the Fundament of the Astral.

As you desire, my delightful companion. Aeuna glances at you, a question n her eyes. Apparently Yzia saw no reason to hide the desires and pleasure that your revelation made her feel.

“I have known Yzia as long as I have had Siobhan. Almost exactly that long, really.” You smile and take your seat once more letting Yzia carry you. “I think the Garden would be best. Or more that the Garden would be the easiest.” The motes have become defined shapes, strange elemental constructs, partly collapsed and strangely geometried monuments and what might be buildings of a sort, and weird arcs and curves that hold platforms and rods.

You lean back and Aeuna instinctively wraps her arms around your wait, her cheek darkening as you place your hands over hers, the gauntlets chiming softly. “Rules. Obey them, or suffer terrible consequences. Not from Yzia or myself, either.” She nods against your head and you feel her breath slide across your ear once.

“Do not touch any liquids, even if it appears to be potable. The chances of it being Dead Gods' Blood is astronomically high. I may take you to the Pool of Dead Gods' Bloods after our raid.”

“Dead God's Blood?”
>>
>>932709
“I said both in plural because I meant both in plural. Hush.” She falls silent, realizing that this is another situation beyond her knowledge for the moment. “If you meet a dragon, do not do anything until it stops watching you. This is its home, but we are unimportant and harmless. And I mean that – it would kill all three of us without consideration or effort. When it stop watching you, you may do whatever you like aside from try and threaten it. Because really, effortless killing of all three of us. The last two times I fought Yzia, we stalemated. This would not be a contest.”

I think you would have the advantage, at this point, Yzia commants thoughtfully.

You can't help but blush, and it gets worse when you feel Aeuna smile because of it. “Do not flatter me so much, I am not used to it from you. Be quiet!” Siobhan purrs softly reveling in your praise and the desire it stokes in Yzia to test you in several ways. “You too!” Aeuna smiles more broadly and you sigh. “I am beset.” you become more serious. “Do not try and take it all in at once. You will injure your psyche. Yzia and a healer nursed me for a week before I was well enough to heal on my own, and that took another week.”

That makes Aeuna shudder against your back, which is actually kind of nice, because she I very soft. “You may recognize things from tales or stories or legend. They are not what you have heard of, and you would be very wise not to trust it. There are places that are allegory for those stories, and they can consume you. Finally, if you see something that looks like the Sphere of Annihilation-” That makes her stiffen against your back. “-tell me and immediately move as far and as fast away from it in as straight a line as you possibly can. Make for the nearest curtain to a material plane, because it can not follow you through. Do NOT lead it towards any Stronghold. It isn't the Sphere of Annihilation, it is something else, and it is both alive and can think, and it is just destructive.” Something else occurs to you. “If you see any phantoms or ghosts, please let me know, but I have not seen any myself.

“If this place is so very dangerous, why come here at all, Akko?” Her confusion is understandable. You aren't exaggerating any of the dangers here.

“We're near the Garden now. You will understand, I promise.” This is one of the only places in the entire Astral plane that creates shadows; there is usually some measure of light from the fundament itself, but here the rules re changed. The grand arches, massive walls, strange broken spheres, and other physical stuff that is present is mostly stone and mineral, but there are also beacons of strange light, patches of shadow cast by those beacons and lanterns (and some that exist despite them and despite the fundament).

Yzia makes her careful way through the maze-like edifices and ruins of this place; she slips by several massive statues, decayed and broken, the calcified bodies of gods crumbing away to reveal bones of substances far stranger than mere matter. Yzia flows through an area where shadow and light flicker around each other and glowing things of many colors sorting tentacles and a pair of eyes each make war against each other, only to be reborn from their own destruction. Aeuna cranes her head and watches, her hands sometimes clutching at you, and relaxing as you stroke her arms or rest a hand over hers.

You rise from a cavernous hole, and arrive in the Garden; Aeuna's breathless gasp makes you smile.

We have come, announces Yzia in a soft murmur within your minds.

Wait, was the damage done to Tzanzi so great that even a Wish couldn't heal it, or did Tzanzi turn it down/Akko knows Tzanzi well enough that she knew Tzanzi would react poorly and thus didn't offer?
>>
>>935569
Wish can do a LOT, anon. I doubt any damage done to Tzanzi is beyond one, but I suspect that she has adapted not to need it. It would be useful to see if we could set up some sort of method for her to regain her abilities, via either a Wish or Limited Wish.
>>
>>935659
I figured it should be, and I know that Tzanzi doesn't NEED it by any means, but I was more unsure why she wouldn't even want it, or why Akko would not want to make the offer, since I feel like she had that wishing ring for a while, dind't she?
>>
>>935569
>>935668

No, but wishes are rare among the githyanki. Very very few are the spellcasters who survive past 16th level, and none survive past 17th. Also, diamonds are relatively hard to come by, despite the ridiculous amounts of accumulated wealth - they have no supply other than theft and raid. Merely healing a wound like that, one which Tzanzi has lived with for literal centuries, with the most powerful magic available would have been a waste and neither Akko nor Tzanzi would have tolerated it. The amount of debt that would put Tzanzi in would have ruined their friendship. Since the honor and debt system of favors is a necessity to stave off ennui (it provides reasons to continue to live) it is more than a social obligation. It is a personal obligation to oneself to maintain a sense of urgency and immediacy.
>>
>>935694
That makes sense, thank you.

Though now I feel like a jackass for voting to burn through two Wishes in less than a day for two neat masks, and for the sake of people we either don't really like or barely knew.

On the other hand, I might be underestimating just -how- neat the masks are, and I suppose that since Akko doesn't share that friendship to Falna or her lovers, the unimaginable debt isn't really a problem (also getting another Mythic Tier doesn't seem like a bad trade).
>>
>>935705
That mask serves three purposes. It increases Akko's intelligence (or did you not notice she has 4 choices instead of the 3 she started with after she started wearing the mask?), it has a non detection effect that prevents that alien aura of her from being seen without necessitating casting a 3rd level spell every 15 hours, and most importantly it hides the living metal rune on her left cheek which might inspitre curiousity or questions. (The higher intelligence gives her an extra language and a knowledge of history ad well, things she could not have crafted into a self-made magic item.) If she had made it herself, it would have taken 44-66 days to finish and a skill check for each day.

That she has one to give to Yzia as well (who also gains all of those benefits) is a bonus.

Transforming the mind of a person who looks like a githyanki INTO a githaynki isn't in the scope of a wish. There is literally no power that could do so - except the power of the ancient Elders, apparently. Even with the correct wording the wish was not capable of that trasnformation, which is why Schechei was in pain. It took Akko using the Mythic Power of the Elders to complete that transformation, and was an even without precedent anywhere in the multiverse.

I'd say they were well spent.
>>
>>935705
Anon, firstly? A ton of people VOTED for that mask. As XS says >>935723 , it gives us bonus Int (which probably translates into more spells in addition to an additional choice in chat), hides our aura and rune, gives us an INTRINSIC understanding of Gith history, an almost living understanding of it, and our Dragon gets one too. For one wish, which would have given us just +2 to Int OR one class level, that's a damned good bargain.

As for the Wish to turn Schechei into a Gith? We got a Mythic level out of that anyway, for doing something amazing and apparently impossible. Which isn't just cool, it's what a Wish would grant. Out of each Wish, we got more than we would have regularly, so frankly? Don't be too concerned about it.

>>935723
Does the additional chat choice reduce the strength of each chat choice, like a certain other quest's system that you've talked about?
>>
>>935740
No, it does not.
>>
>>935723
You have a point, I didn't really appreciate just how long it would have taken to craft the mask, and I didn't realize that the wish itself fell short and that we were able to bridge the gap, that makes it a much more legendary accomplishment than just being bold in using a wish and clever in wording it properly.

This is unrelated, but with Akko, she seems to learn her spells from her massive collection of books, some of which I assume she traded for and others she was able to steal right? But in your setting when spontaneous/limited casters gain new spells, where does that ability come from? Do they tap into some kind of arcane network that contains every possible spell of the levels they have openings in, still have to learn it the old fashioned way but only once, just kind of randomly shape their magic aura instinctively/mess around with reagents until it suddenly clicks? I haven't really encountered people talking about it, but I might just not be looking in the right places.
>>
>>935747
>>935757
Another question semi-related to this one. Will Akko gain the chance to learn spells via experimentation now? Can she learn them through viewing amazing or unusual events/locations/beings or understanding/Knowing?
>>
>>935757
In this world, Spontaneous Arcane Casters gather their spells depending on their nature. Bards learn their spells from other bard and by trial and error or experimentation with their already learned magics. Sorcerers have a wide variety of methods for it - a very few through experiementation (Arcane, Imperious, and other esoteric bloodlines).

Draconic, Aberretation, Genie, and other inherently magical bloodlines don't even learn their spells. They need the magic and it spills from their subconscious in the appropriate manners. Often they don't even realize they know a spells (i.e. don't gain a new spell) until the situation where it would be useful happens. It spills from their mouths and hands like water over a cliff, and the effects can be wondrous or disastrous.

Others delve into their power purposefully and with great desire, gaining their magic more quickly and understanding it more intuitively. Storm, Elemental bloodlines, Verdant, Shadow and other 'base element' type bloodlines delve into the mysteries of their power deeply and with intent, and come up with their magics as a result. They can also be inspired to develop magical power by situations and seeing other forms of their power.

Another common category is the possessed style of learning. Nanite, Undead, Ghoul, Celestial, Infernal, Serpentine, Fey, etc. are all bloodlines with a powerful history, and that bloodline itself can urge the sorcerer towards goals and powers the person themselves may not be aware of. In some cases, pacts can be made as well, and knowledge gained through those pacts.

Mechanically there isn't a single difference except in their bloodline abilities. In play, the ways are as varied as can be imagined.

Incidentally, there are a few sorcerers among the githyanki, but they are viewed no differently than spellcasters in general. Most gain their power from Psychic, Draconic, Impossible, and Nanite bloodlines. Aberrant bloodlines are rare and when they happen they are watched very closely (they rarely make it past 12th level).
>>
>>935783
Akko can always learn spells through experimentation and viewing of the world. She will learn them faster and more easily because of her Mythic nature, but the mechanisms aren't any different. She will have that opportunity when she gains a new level (which will happen in play eventually).

Basically, she will look into what she needs, and develop a broad spectrum of "these are the spells I am most likely to find useful currently" an anons will have the opportunity to select from that list. She will then take some time to learn the (a few hours or so).
>>
>>935787
In particular, I was hoping to get a more powerful and/or less detectable anti-scrying spell than Non-Detection.
>>
>>935784
That is really neat, I forgot to account for bloodlines.
>Most gain their power from Psychic, Draconic, Impossible, and Nanite bloodlines

Psychic and Draconic make sense, though I'm a little surprised at Impossible and Nanite. Is it generally just due to there being all sorts of things in the Astral, if you're bored enough to look?
>>
>>935790
Yes, but slightly more complex. The fact that it is a nanite bloodline doesn't man that's actually how the power is granted - the Dead Gods have more to do with it than super-science (although that may still be the case....).

Incidentally, Akko is already considering development of "Form of the Alien Dragon", Umbral strike", "True Seeing", or "Chain Lightning/Chain of Fire" as spells to select. It largely depends on what her situation is when she gains that level.

She is very concerned about what might happen when she reaches 17th level, with good reason.

"So sorry, I had no idea I altered the base matrix of my Silver Sword in an impossible manner, please ignore it and make her into a True Silver Sword anyways? Why are there all the Lord Knights here?"
>>
>>935792
Like Akko won't do something completely ridiculous with Siobhan in the time it takes her to gain two levels.
>>
>>935792
All we need to do is craft a magical AND psychic illusion, increase her to a 'true' True true Silver sword, while mind-controlling them AND the smith into believing it's so.
>>
>>935792
So wait, I know that wizards can only memorize a finite number of spells, but they can write down as many as possible right?

So is it that she already has those spells written but can't cast them yet, they're written in code/indirect references and she needs to decipher them through research and study, or she needs to weave them herself raw from the underlying principles?
>>
>>935800
You are conflatign mechancis with play, a common problem.

Akko cannot cast sixth level spells yet. Now, she does have access to some number of spells for those levels in the tomes she's collected over the years, but she has not written them into her personal spell book as of yet because they a)take up a lot of space, and she may need to travel light, and b) she wants to be certain that she writes them down correctly and with minimal issues when she does. Also, the inks required are alchemical in nature, and it can cost quite a bit to scribe a spell; using non-alchemical ink of the right potency and types causes the spells to fade from your book as the information in the spell's formulae cannot be held by mundane inks and the names and words of power destroy lesser substances when written (yes, that is an in universe explanation of why you spend money on writing spells into your bnook). Not, the spells she is developing for her two free sith level choices are in the process of being written into the book already. She hasn't finished them because they arre largely conceptual and studies. As time goes on and she has rest periods, she adds notes, actually inks a few sections at a time, and solidifies her understanding of the two spells in question. when she rreaches a complete understanding of the formulae. words, and names of power to actuvate those magics, the spells will be completely scribes in her book with a few finishing touches.

It is exactly like an artist turning a sketch into a work of art. You sketch it out, ink in those areas you are sure of, sketch more, shade it, ink more, add color in places, and slowly form a blank page into a masterpiece. That is how memorizing casters gain their level-based spell adds - constant learning.

Right form the start Akko has been portrayed as a studious learner.
>>
>>935806
XS, is it possible to get a more powerful and/or less-detectable anti-scrying spell than Non-Detection?
>>
>>935806
Oh right, beginning to inscribe one of those spells was literally the first act we saw Akko perform.
>>
>>935816
Well, since she now lacks a magic ring, she can try and locate or decide to make a ring of Mind Bar. She could also risk discussing the matter with Yashi, who has spells that are powerful enough to create false images and incorrect readings from such spells.

Nondetection is the most powerful anti-detection spell Akko has access to right now however. and the caster level of her mask is 17th level, as it was created through a wish, making it very difficult to get detection and scrying spells through, as opposed to her own 15th level casting of it.

Although, Mislead is also a fair speall for that, as you could attach it to an actual person and all spells and detection will detect that person as opposed to Akko herself. the unfortunate part is she carries a Silver Sword, which is a pretty distinct set of magics - but if she could lay the mislead on Falna, or another githyanki female carrying a Silver Sword....
>>
>>935823
>Nanite bloodlines.

Haha what.

Anyways, so far we've seem pretty overpowered.

Like, we've just walked through everyone.

Has this just been surprisingly good rolls, or is this the "learning" stage and shit is going to get more difficult soon?

How are we going to handle combat from our other Cadre members? Will we roll for them, or will you?

Is this going to be a really crunchy quest? Given how much rolling that might need, what will you do if enough people aren't present to roll?

When are you going to turn down the smut?
>>
>>935831
Akko is a 15th level gish in a setting where the highest level characters are at most 17th-23rd. She's literally jobbing it because she doesn't want to draw the attention of a lich that will eat her soul if she attracts too much attention.

She is extraordinarily powerful and experienced. When the raid happens it will seem like a cakewalk at first, except where logistics are concerned, until the adventurers show up.

But when she gets noticed, things will go downhill fast, and she will have to make several very hard choices.

This is indeed the learnign phase, and anon will only have to focus on Akko as far as combat is concerned. Crunch will be medium, and i will generally have enough players to get the few necessary rolls done (because with d20, everything important will be a d20 roll, with some use of d100s').

The quest is literally "lesbian smut quest with accidental plot" because anon said not to run one here. It's not yuri because it isn't anime. This is a game about one powerful individual trying to do everything in her power to keep entertained for the next few hundred years of needing zero sleep, zero food, and zero drink, without being captured by unholy paladins of a half-deity lich queen and have her soul eaten. Her entertainment options are literally sex, making magic items and pretty glass things, reading, and causing interpersonal drama. Or going to the material world and killing illithids and raiding for stuff to take home.

And the nanite bloodline is cool.
>>
>>935836
Well. I can't argue with the smut then, to be honest spite is like my major driving force.

Also, yaaaay. I can't wait until we have to make hard choices.

The Lich Queen can't get us in the Material, right? Her and the Goddess shard we have inside us were like totally friends and not competitors she'll want to eat, right?

Did we fuck up by winning so hard against Aeuna then? If we win too hard, will it be fucking up our "keep our heads low" plan?
>>
>>935838
Depends, Akko was not pleased at the number of knights and their lack of enthusiasm at the duel, but anyone who knows her expected the outcome - Aeuna usually fights full casters, not gish. And no, they're totally hateful towards one another and she'll definitely want to eat you.

Not really, and depends on circumstances....though Akko is becoming suspicious about the knights and their attentiveness and lack of humor in her doings.

Akko is powerful enough to start a lair or a stronghold on her own. She hasn't because she would have to receive a True Silver Sword. When that happens she will be one of the people at the forefront of Her Majesty's mind. That is exactly where she does not want to be.
>>
>>935845
I'd imagine her lack of apparent ambition attracts unwanted attention from others though, huh. Could explain all those dour knights I suppose.
>>
>>935845
What exactly is the difference between a regular silver sword and a true silver sword?
>>
>>935876
Mechanically, a Silver Sword is a +3 weapon that is mildly intelligent and has a small chance to cut the silver cord that tethers a human onto the astral plane when they project themselves there.Unlike most such weapons, it does not lose it's plusses when being taken to a material plane, but the ability to cut a silver cord is lost of course.

A True Silver Sword (known in the original books as a Special Silver Sword, but that sounded stupid) is fully telepathic as opposed to empathic, is a +5 weapon and also a vorpal weapon, and are actual artifact level weapons, not merely high powered magic weapons but actual artefacts.

Siobhan is no longer simply a Silver Sword, but a Legendary Weapon, capable of grating several mythic powers to Akko (including mythic spellcasting, which Akko does not gain on her own as of yet). She was always intended to be such, of course.
>>
>>935865
I have a feeling that someone's suspicions are raised, someone powerful. We can tell whether the focus is just on us or others who stay out of the limelight by watching for the watchers in various situations, and whether we can cast the blame elsewhere or to shift the suspicion into something else.
>>
>>936056
What does Siobhan's aura look like?
I assume her aura as a magical item and as an individual with a mind are one and the same, but i could be wrong.

Or is it hidden by nondetection?
>>
>>935836
Interesting, I was kind of wondering (but afraid to ask) about how long you were thinking you'd make this quest, but it looks like it might be a moderately short one?

Like this upcoming raid is the only one you have scheduled, and afterwards things will be happening way too fast to really do another one?
>>
>>936448
Siobhan's aura is indistinguishable from that of another Silver Sword, though her alignment is Neutral Evil as opposed to Lawful Evil, and when she is in Akko's hand being used there is a shattered-diamond edge to her aura that is unusual. Nondection prevents that from being seen however, and if she is sheathed it does not show either.

>>936513
Until the MC dies or I go crazy again. The raid isn't an open and shut sort of situation, anon - Githyanki raids can go on for months or even years. Capturing and ransoming a large number of elven and human aristocrats isn't something that will be over with in a few days.
>>
>>935806
>You are conflatign mechancis with play, a common problem.
It is kind of hard for me to separate the two sometimes. Like for example, Levels, it seems like the Githyanki sometimes focus on pretty specific levels as being markers of when someone gets a Silver Sword/a True Silver Sword/gets their soul eaten (or something) by the Lich Queen. I'm pretty sure it's primarily an abstraction for the benefit of the players, but I'm not sure to what, if any, extent levels are actually a thing and if there's a way to acknowledge them without the story becoming absurd.
>>
>>938986
Well most of the in story discussion relates to spell levels which is far easier to explain. Of course even fighters get eaten eventually, but they get away with it until level 23 apparently. Not sure what the tipping point there is in setting though...
>>
>>939351
At first my question was mostly just overthinking things, but now I'm a bit worried that Githyanki just notice someone's approximate strength, and even with the mask, Akko's boost in abilities from the second mythic tier might push her over the edge. Then again, if that was a concern, Akko probably would have considered it.

Given the attention she was getting from the knights, I'd say she's already concerned. Whatever complications await us on our mission, we're better off not coming back from it.

The actual problem is that Vlaakith cares more about inching towards godhood than whether or not a high level gith is useful as fuck.

Of course as has been pointed out being on the material delays that.

Its not the worlds brightest plan either, since one can safely assume that more than a few gods would really enjoy destroying the illithids. Adding one more to the pile isnt likely to result in no more illithids, but it does prevent thee githyanki from having high level champions.

The fact that this ensures noone can challenge Vlaakith is entirely intentional. But its not whats best for the race as a whole.

Time to dupe some adventurers into killing her and turning the githyanki into our army/harem

Well, certain abilities are gained at certain levels for both casters and 3/4 BAB classes. It's relatively easy in game to see how powerful someone is - if a gish can pull spells out of the ether (use Knowledge Pool at 7th level) that they would not ordinarily have access to (wizard/sorc spells, for example) then they must be powerful enough to cope with an illithid on their lonesome (CR 8 monster). A caster who knows spells of the fifth order (a 9th level wizard or 10th level sorcerer learning his 5th's level spells) is capable of certain effects - Wall of Fire, Cloudkill, Major Creation, Symbol of Pain, etc. So there is a known level of magical understanding that indicates "this caster knows this much shit, but is not capable of this much yet."

Likewise there is a distinct difference in skill level when you compare an 8th level fighter, or a 13th level ggish, withan 11th level fighter, or a 15th level gish. The skills can be observed, and while the idea of 'feats' may not exist, the idea of "this person has learned these combat skills, which resemble those of these teachers and expands on this teacher and may surpass him is a very real thing. There arte physical and mental tests for such things as well - a githyanki who is capable of protecting himself effectively from a psychic crush is going to be capable of dealing with a psionic blast from an illithid as well (since psychic crust is actually much more powerful and a high level spell).

So there is a level of abstraction, but also an in world understanding of "someone who is capable of this much is most likely capable of handling these issues, problems and duties".

Akko is fairly certain she understands what she can get away with safely.

So do most Illithids tend to stay at CR 8? I'm not really sure if they can take class levels or not, or if they think such a thing is beneath them even though they know about the Gith by now.

Also, and this is a related question, if Vlaakith forbids Githyanki from exceeding a certain level of power, how do they deal with Elder Brains, assuming those are things in your setting? Do they just kill all the Illithids in the colony and then collapse the lair and then lurk just outside the Elder Brain's range until it starves to death?

Also, do the Githzerai have some similar mechanism in place that stops their best from becoming extremely powerful, or is Limbo less hospitable/the monastic lifestyle less challenging/the Githzerai don't really go out of their way to fight Githyanki?
>>
>>940323
The average rank and file illithid is CR 8, just as the average rank and file githyanki is 3rd-5th level (with a CR +1 or CR+2 because of their psychic abilities). Tey can in fact take class levels, often advancing in psychic classes, either as casters or as manifestors.

An Elder Brain is a rarity, and not something very well known about or even understood. Elder Brains wipe the memories of those that interact with them so the only knowledge of Elder Brains is literally OOC knowledge. Most illithids only know about them by hearsay, and any illithid raiding parties have THEIR memories of such a thing erased, and this includes the illithids themselves.

Elder brains really are the invisible rulers of the illithids. Discovering an Elder Brain exists and surviving to tell others about it, and then convincing them it is a real thing would be a mythic accomplishment.

The Githzerai are ruled by an immortal wizard-king, who similarly keeps his people from achieving higher levels than he can deal with effectively. He actually keeps them under a tighter rein, being less powerful than Her Majesty.

That makes more sense than in 3.5, where it seemed like an Elder Brain just happened whenever there was enough brains to throw into the spawning pool, which you'd think would have made them very hard to stop.
>>
>>942161
>>942135
Also it's nice to know the Githyanki aren't the only ones whose leader doesn't seem to want to let go.
>>
Maybe Akko should create or steal a Dungeon.

>That makes more sense than in 3.5, where it seemed like an Elder Brain just happened whenever there was enough brains to throw into the spawning pool

That's not how it works in 3.5.
>>
>>942494

I mean, a Dungeon got to not be boring
>>
>>942494
That is what 'making a lair' or a material Stronghold is. A bunch of githyanki under a Supreme Leader going somewhere and setting up a material plan raiding zone for a few years, or even a decade or two. a Lair consists of 11-44 githyanki, while a stronghold can have up to 200 - and 90% are raiders, unlike the Astral strongholds.
>>
>>942562

Not sure if it's the best course of action, then.

Though I suppose less Gith would be able to reach us if they want to try to destroy us than in the Astral.
>>
>>942494
You're right, even though it seems like in 3.5, deceased Illithids had their brains offered up to the Elder Brain, it didn't say that's how Elder Brains are formed. It did raise the possibility that Elder Brains aren't actually made of Illithid Brains at all, but merely see them as a food source, but didn't really elaborate.
>>
>>943695

Lords of Madness makes it clear (as much as that kind of things can be) that the Elder Brains came from the future with the Illithids, and those alive nowadays are the ones who survived the attempt.

Elder Brains are not a collection of Illithid minds, they just absorb the nutriments and knowledge of the dead Illithids' brains.

Akk's sheet is nearly complete - or rather, as complete as is possible.

Here's a semi-sketch of Akko and Siobhan.
>>
>>944250

Nice pic!

I see Akko's Init went up.

Tzanzi and Yashi are this reputed despite Falna and Aeuna being higher level?
>>
>>944260
Reputation=/=level.

Remember, Tzanzi literally escaped and slaughtered a small enclave of illithids without any psychic ability after having parts of her brain eaten. Yashi is effectively several thousand years old and has been in several strongholds before this one was ever established - she's a fixture of the stronghold who has been on maybe two or three raids to the material, but has defended the stronghold well enough to have received no complaints for not going on raids.
>>
>>944269

Well, sure, but usually bigger accomplishments result in bigger levels, or require them.
>>
Yzia must be delightfully peeved or think Akko is silly for making art and jewels out of glass.

Adventurers who try to steal from her are in for a surprise, too
>>
>>944276
There's a good reason Akko made the masks out of leaded crystal and gold, artistry aside
>>
>>944271
Usually, but raids are a source of experience as well, and those are considered everyday life tasks.
>>
>Invent a trading card game

>Remove the ennui problem
>>
>>944279

Because lead blocks divination and gold make horny dragons happy?
>>
>>944283

Joke aside, it would be pretty entertaining and profitable, and it'd help the natural hunters and competitors that the Giths are to ward off boredom
>>
>>944291

The creation and distribution would be a ball of drama on their own.
>>
>>944293

And it could be used to teach how to Gith to Lovely.
