>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

"You know, we shouldn't take it for granite how far we've traveled," you tell your friends. "It's been a rocky road."

Lantana and Sansha laugh, while Mauya groans and rolls her eyes.

"Thanks, Sei," Sansha says. "You-"

She cuts off, stopping dead in her tracks. Her hands fall limply to her sides as the rest of her body stiffens. At her side, Lantana clenches her hands into fists, trembling.

When Mauya and yourself come around, you see what has them so worked up.

Sansha's village has been burnt to the ground. Black rubble is all that remains of the buildings that once stood. There's no signs of any people, at least not at first, but as you draw closer, you find the charred remains of either the village's former occupants, or soldiers that died in the attack.

In any case, it's a horrifying sight to behold. Mauya looks ready to vomit, Lantana looks ready to rip someone's throat out, and Sansha hasn't moved a muscle. She just stares ahead, pale as a ghost, stiff as a board.

"Mauya, get her some water," you urge your friend.

As the Waterbender retrieves a canteen, Lantana comes to stand beside you, her eyes scanning the ruins.

"Those monsters," she growls with total loathing. "They'll pay for this. When I find Kalana, I'm going to make her suffer."

You're somewhat taken aback. You can't exactly blame Lantana for feeling that way, but it's a strange attitude coming from her. And, you suppose the more frightening part is that when one of the most powerful individuals in the world is threatening to painfully kill someone, she will probably succeed in it.

Hearing shuffling behind you, you turn around to see Sansha hunched over her backpack, digging through it until she retrieves her old sword. Rising, she throws one of the Hunter Blades to you.

Without a word, she steps forward and begins to search the rubble. Her expression is stony, and you can't tell exactly what's going through her mind. You imagine it's a mix of fury and grief, but you aren't sure which emotion is dominant at the moment, or where those feelings are leading her thoughts.

"Lantana, you need to calm down a bit," you tell your friend.

"Calm down?" she asks, looking at you with disbelief. "Look at this! Everything's gone! They burned it all, even the people! Women, children, the elderly, they didn't spare any of them!"

Looking ahead once again, you see that some of the corpses are indeed tiny, clearly having belonged to children. The homes, shops, and walls that once stood have been reduced to smoldering rubble, and the dead have been left to rot or be consumed by scavengers. It's a disgusting sight.

"Jungo was terrible," Lantana goes on. "But I never saw anything quite like this from him. He took prisoners, he left at least part of the towns he attacked standing. This is just....."

Clenching her fists with rage, she moves forward into the ruins, and you do the same, taking a look around for anything, anything at all that might have survived. Mauya stays back, looking like she could be sick at any moment, and the animals keep their distance as well, likely not appreciating the smell.

Sifting through the wreckage, you can't find a damn thing of importance left. Everything was probably looted or burned away. Realizing that there's nothing to find, you stand up, spotting Sansha kneeling in front of a particular ruin nearby.

Her head is bowed, her hands together in front of her chest. You think she's praying, perhaps to her mother or the people of her village, perhaps to some other spirit.

You approach Sansha, standing behind her as she continues her prayer. Your heart grows heavier as you see teardrops fall to the ground beneath her. But, when she rises and turns toward you, her expression is not merely one of sorrow. Instead, you see resolve and determination in her face, and you know that she wants to fight now more than ever.

She says nothing to you, at least, not at first. But, an unspoken gratitude is communicated through her eyes, and you know she appreciates your support.

"I think we should go," Mauya calls from the edge of the village, and Sansha shakes her head.

"The dead deserve to be buried," the young warrior tells the Waterbender. "Sei, Lantana, will you help me?"

"Yes," you tell her.

Putting your Earthbending to good use, Lantana and yourself create graves for the fallen. Sansha gathers up what bodies she can find, and places them gingerly into the ground, bowing her head in silent respect after each one is buried. It's a somber event, and you're confident that you will never forget it for as long as you live. It's something you would never have wished to do, of course, but you feel that you're doing the right thing, and you know that Sansha appreciates what you and Lantana are doing to honor her friends and family.

When all is said and done, Sansha kneels in the middle of the village, praying once again before rising and declaring that it's time to go and let the dead rest in peace.

"Finally," Mauya sighs with relief.

Sansha shoots her an irritated look, and Mauya apologizes. You know that the Waterbender meant no disrespect, and is simply glad to be away from all of the death and destruction, but she chose what she said poorly.

Your group begins making its way toward the river, the sunset fast approaching. Still, nobody shows any signs of slowing down. Nobody says much, either. What do you say after something like that, anyway?

Mauya still looks a bit queasy, but she keeps up without being dramatic about it. Sansha looks ready to march all the way to the Si Wong Desert and track down Kalana, and you suspect that Lantana would be right with her on that.

"Maybe we should stop before it gets dark," you suggest to your friends.

Gava growls in agreement, dropping to the ground right where he is and attempting to fall asleep. Pengsong, seemingly agreeing with this idea, drops beside the Sky Bison, letting out a cry in Lantana's direction.

The Avatar stops, her expression softening as she turns and smiles toward the Elephant Mandrill. She approaches the great creature, petting it and talking softly to it until it begins to fall asleep.

Once that's done, she sets to work building tents, and camp is ready quite soon. After today's events, nobody seems like they'd care to go hunting or fishing, so your group sticks to rations.

When all is said and done, Mauya says goodnight to everyone, and heads for her tent, while Lantana sits by the fire, and Sansha sits at the edge of camp.

Sansha could probably use somebody to talk to right about now. Letting Mauya go to sleep and leaving Lantana alone with her thoughts, you make your way over to your friend, taking a seat beside her.

"I wanted to check on you," you tell your friend. "I'm here for you, if you need me."

Sansha smiles warmly, looking like there's something she wants to say to you, but she opts for something else.

"I'll be alright," she assures you. "I think, in some sort of odd way, seeing it for myself helped me. Less wondering about what happened and what it's like there, now, you know? I have closure on that, now. I went back and payed my respects. Now, I can do what I need to do."

"And what do you need to do?" you ask her.

She looks at you like it should be obvious, and when she gives you the answer, you suppose that she's right.

"I need to avenge them, and then, if I can, rebuild what was destroyed," she tells you. "If nothing else, I'll do what I can to carry on their memory."

Standing up beside her, you turn to your friend, and give her a hug.

As usual, she stiffens up, but at the end she does wrap her arms around you and give you an awkward hug back, so you feel that you're making progress. When you let go of each other, you offer her one more question of concern.

"Are you sure you're okay?" you ask her.

She chuckles somewhat bitterly. "Sei, I'm doing the best I can be with all that's happened. Anyway, how are you doing?"

Smiling back at her, you change the subject a bit, deciding to be a bit more optimistic about things.

"So, when this is all over," you begin. "What are you going to do?"

A thoughtful look comes to your friend's face. "Well, like I said, I want to rebuild my village."

"Yeah, but after that," you specify.

"Hmm..." she shrugs. "Well, after all of that, maybe I'll find a husband, settle down, and have a family. I'll teach my children just like my mom taught me, and hopefully things can be a little easier for them when they grow up."

I'd be settled in one place and living with my family, and maybe it would be "simple". But it wouldn't be boring."

Like Mauya, she seems quite interested, but she reads it somewhat less carefully, seeming mostly to skim until she finds parts she wants to study in greater detail.

Gava and Pengsong snore away at the edge of camp, and Sansha nears the end of her reading. When she finally finishes, she looks toward you with an expression of surprise. You can tell you've impressed her.

Thanking Sansha for the compliments, you decide to go to sleep for the evening. Making your way to your tent, you fall asleep almost at once, sleeping peacefully despite the events of the day.

When daylight comes, you rise to find Lantana the only one awake, and in the process of packing up her own things in preparation to depart. Pengsong and Gava continue to snore, but Lantana looks ready to go at a moment's notice.

Lantana clearly wants to get things started as soon as possible, so you decide to help speed the process up ever so slightly by packing up your belongings and getting rid of your Earth tent.

This takes about two minutes, and when you're done, you walk over to Lantana, who scans the plains with her eyes, making sure there's no soldiers or hungry animals making their way toward the camp.

When you come to her side, and she sees you, she gives you a small smile, and a "good morning".

"Sleep well?" she asks, a bit of tension in her voice.

"Yeah, I slept fine," you assure how. "How about you?"

She looks away, shrugging nonchalantly. "I slept fine."

Again, you can hear tension in her voice, and decide to ask her about it.

"What's wrong?" you inquire.

Her shoulders slump as she lets out a sigh. "It's nothing, just, everything that's going on. I'm fine, I promise."

"Well then, do you want to spar until the others wake up?" you suggest, changing the subject and offering a way for her to work off some of her stress.

"That sounds nice," she tells you, her voice sounding a bit happier. "It's been a while since we've gotten to do this."

The two of you move away from the camp, letting the others rest peacefully as you prepare yourselves to "fight" one another. You stand across from Lantana, who drops into a basic fighting stance.

"Ready," she tells you.

Opening with the basics seems like a sound strategy; you can move fast and overwhelm her.

Ripping chunks of rock from the ground in front of your feet, you launch them toward Lantana, sending more and more her way as quickly as you can. The girl easily sidesteps the first one, ducks beneath the second, and punches through the third as she rises back to her full height.

But, striking that last rock distracts her, and she doesn't react to the fourth in time, resulting in you knocking her to the ground with a large chunk of Earth.

She rolls back into a crouch, launching herself high into the air on a pillar of Earth and doing a flip before kicking toward you with both legs.

Your reflexes seem to be working quite well today, as you launch yourself back on a pillar of Earth fast enough to easily avoid Lantana's attack, which you presume to have been an air blast.

Landing in a crouch a short distance back, you see Lantana slowly descend, ripping up stone as soon as she lands and hurling them your way. You duck beneath the first, and jump over the second.

Rising back up, you see the Avatar pull up a massive stone, breaking it into pieces and launching those pieces at you as tiny projectiles.

Feeling perhaps a bit too confident, you thrust your hands out toward the approaching projectiles, stopping them dead in their tracks long before they even reach you.

Lantana's eyes go wide with surprise, and she begins trying to push them toward you, but you take advantage of her momentary distraction to send her own weapons flying back at her. Her bending allows her to stop a few of them, but the majority continue along their path, and the Avatar is soon pelted with rocks.

Giving up on stopping them, she instead shields her face and endures the many hits, waiting for the barrage to come to and end. Once it does, you see that her clothes are torn in many places, and she seems to have gained some cuts and bruises.

She breathes heavily for a few seconds before lowering her arms, looking toward you with surprise. You aren't sure what to expect, so you prepare yourself in case she decides to really kick your ass.

But, instead, she laughs. "That was awesome!"

"Yeah, I'm pretty amazing," you tell her.

She smirks. "Okay, don't get too fully of yourself. I was taking it a bit easy on you."

Shrugging, you decide to take your victory whether she pulled punches or not, and suggest that the two of you return to camp to have Mauya fix her up.

"Good idea," she says, smiling and turning toward the camp.

As the two of you make your way back, you find yourself smiling as well, and not just because you won. Lantana seems to be her normal self again, and you're glad to see that. She hasn't been the most happy or pleasant person these past few weeks, so having her back to the way she used to be is nice.

By the time the two of you make it back to camp, you find that Sansha and Mauya have both woken up, and are in the process of putting away their possessions. They look up when the two of you get back, each looking a bit surprised at Lantana's condition.

"What happened to you?" Mauya asks, arching an eyebrow.

"Training?" Sansha guesses, grabbing a canteen and rising to her feet.

Lantana nods. "Yeah, Sei pulled a trick I wasn't ready for."

Mauya stands up, and Sansha throws her the canteen. "Well, let me do something about those cuts and bruises."

"Thank you," Lantana tells her, walking over to the young Waterbender while Sansha returns to packing her things.

As the animals make their way toward the river, you decide to do some singing, and today, your voice is at its best, allowing you to sing without angering the animals.

The girls, at least, seem entertained, and it seems your singing prompts Mauya to give one of her own songs a try.

Her voice is as beautiful as always, and her song is just as good as yours, as she sings a song about an explorer who adventured across the North Pole. When she's done singing, everyone seems to be in higher spirits than before, the great, happy singing or yourself and Mauya having done wonders for moods.

Lantana has the final say, and the two animals wade into the water, safely carrying everyone across the river to the village on the other side.

What you find on the other side is not as bad as you may have feared, but still worse than you may have hoped.

The village still stands, and looks to have taken no damage through battle. However, there are many more people occupying it now, and most of them seem to be wearing Kalana's uniform.

Sansha instinctively reaches for her sword, but Lantana tells her to relax.

"If we're lucky, they won't recognize us," the Avatar speaks.

"And if we're unlucky?" Mauya asks.

Deciding that avoiding a fight is probably the best course of action, you go along with Lantana's idea of sneaking around. Pengsong and Gava are directed toward the outskirts of the village, but they aren't exactly inconspicuous, and it takes only a few seconds for one of the soldiers to spot you.

He calls for two of his friends, and begins to slowly walk over. A quick glance reveals that he's armed only with a sword, while his two companions are armed with a war-hammer and crossbow respectively. He also has a helmet on his head which covers most of his face, though you can tell something's wrong with one of his eyes.

"Hello, there," the one who spotted you says pleasantly. "I've got to say, this is probably the most interesting visit we've had all week. An Elephant Mandrill and Sky Bison carrying people out of the river? Never thought I'd see something like that."

The crossbow-wielding woman to his left looks toward him. "Should we get something to dry off the animals?"

"Oh, there's no need for that," Lantana tells her, hiding any nervousness she may be feeling expertly. "We can't stay long."

The helmeted man chuckles. "Yes, I imagine you must be quite busy, Avatar."

Sansha's hand goes toward her blade, but she stops when the woman with the crossbow takes aim at her face.

Lantana casts a nervous glance toward Sansha before looking back at the man.

"You're mistaken," she attempts to tell him. "I'm not the Avatar."

"Of course you are," the man tells her, his tone becoming far less cordial. "I'd never forget your face."

Lantana says nothing, and the man reaches up to remove his helmet, revealing a nasty looking cut over his right eye, which you can tell is blind.

"You don't remember doing this to me, I'm sure," he tells her. "But I'll never forget it. You can't imagine how long I've been waiting for this day."

"You're going to have to keep waiting," Lantana tells him, thrusting her hands toward the man and the crossbow-wielding woman.

Both are knocked to the ground by strong currents of wind, and Sansha leaps off of Gava, drawing her blade and stabbing downward into the woman's heart.

"IT'S THE AVATAR!" the man on the ground yells as he retrieves his sword.

Meanwhile, the man with the warhammer prepares to take a swing at Sansha, only for water to strike his head and freeze around it. Glancing over, you see Mauya raise her right hand and make a pushing motion. The man is thrown to the side, head-first, and falls to the ground.

MAKE EARTHBENDERS GREAT AGAIN.

Aw yiss, time to build a great wall, and make Kalana pay for it!
Kinda scared of my rolling streak now though.

Leaping off of Pengsong, you land in a crouch, and rise to see dozens of Kalana's people dashing toward you at full speed, some taking aim with crossbows, some drawing blades. As fast as you can, you create a wall, cutting them off from you and your friends.

Meanwhile, the half-blind man rises back to his feet, trading blows with Sansha before being thrown off his feet with another gust of wind, and landing on top of the man with the war-hammer.

Lantana opens a pit beneath the two, dropping them down into darkness.

"So, now what?" Mauya asks, looking toward the wall.

From the other side, you can hear the shouts of the soldiers, some calling for an Earthbender to bring it down, while others opt to simply move around it.

"We can't outrun their crossbows," Lantana points out.

"Then we stand and fight," Sansha tells her. "Can you two create some pit-traps or something?"

"Sei, enclose the animals completely, then create some pits just within the walls," Lantana instructs. "Then come join me on the other side."

"What?!" Mauya asks as if she's insane.

"Sansha, are you with me?" Lantana asks.

Nodding, the warrior girl rushes to the Avatar's side, and the pair launch over the wall on a pillar of Earth. You hear surprised cries on the other side.

Acting fast, you finish walling in the animals, who let out distressed cries.

Pengsong looks in the direction in which Lantana vanished, letting out a cry that you assume to be of worry before charging toward it.

"Calm down!" Mauya shouts, apparently not really understanding how to pacify the creature.

While that's going on, you create pits just inside the wall, stopping Pengsong's charge as he halts in fear.

The animals are about as well protected as they can be, now it's time to join the battle.

With everyone as well defended as they're going to be, you rush to join the others, launching yourself over the wall with your Earthbending, and land on the other side.

Several of Kalana's people have already been dispatched, some by sword, some by stone. Lantana, covered in stone armor, uses her bending to wreak havoc on the enemy crossbowmen, while Sansha uses her blades to cut down several of the melee combatants.

You spot a man with a sword slowly creeping up behind Sansha, readying himself to strike.

The enemy's numbers are quickly dropping, and soon, victory will be yours.

The man raises his blade to strike, but before he gets the chance, he gets a rock to the side of the head, courtesy of your Earthbending. As he vocalizes his surprise and sudden pain, it draws the attention of Sansha, who glances back, brings one of her blades in a diagonal cut down the man's body, then looks toward you and mouths a "thank you" before returning to battling the soldiers in front of her.

The enemy's numbers are quickly dropping, and soon, victory will be yours.

Lantana seems to have the archers under control, leaving the melee fighters to Sansha. She's doing well, but outnumbered, and you're pretty sure that eventually one of her foes will get lucky.

Finally ready to get very involved in this battle, you put your Earthbending to work, creating pits beneath the feet of Kalana's soldiers, who scream in terror as they fall into the darkness.

Sansha, now left with only two foes to fight, smiles confidently before meeting them in battle once again.

Meanwhile, one of the remaining archers takes aim at you, but Lantana takes him down with a rock-armored knee to the groin, followed by a stone-fisted punch to the face.

With the threats eliminated for the moment, you drop the remaining soldiers into pits, and then collapse the walls of each pit, burying the soldiers alive.

Sansha brings down her two remaining foes, and turns toward you and Lantana, a smile on her face.

"Great work," she tells the two of you.

"Is there anybody we can interrogate?" you ask the others.

Lantana, in the process of shedding her stone armor, looks toward one of the fallen soldiers. "Well, he's unconscious, but once he wakes up, I'm sure we can ask some questions."

"Well, while we wait for that, why don't we let Mauya, Pengsong, and Gava out?" Sansha suggests. "They'd probably like to be able to walk around a bit."

Nodding, Lantana approaches the wall you've erected, bringing it down with her Earthbending. As it drops, you see that Mauya and the animals are unharmed, but that someone else is in there with them.

The half-blind man, who seems to have somehow crawled out of the pit, lies on his stomach just a few feet away from Mauya.

Lantana quickly fills in the pit, and the three of you run toward the young Waterbender.

"What happened?" Sansha asks her.

Mauya looks at the three of you, appearing relieved. "He climbed out of the pit and came at us, but I stopped him."

Approaching the man, you see that he's been killed; impaled by his own sword.

Uncorking her canteen, she bends the water from it and directs it toward your hand, freezing your hand solid in a block of ice. Then, with a wave of her hand, she moves the ice, and, by extension, your hand, causing you to wave it around in the air. She slows it down, then redirects it toward your body, gently tapping your chest with your frozen hand before melting the water and returning it to her canteen.

"That's what I did," she tells you. "Except when I froze that guy's hand, he was holding a sword."

"Brutal," you tell her. "Stone cold, really."

Lantana chuckles, while, for once, Sansha doesn't pay the rock pun much heed. Instead, she stares at Mauya, her mind seeming to go a million miles a minute as she thinks over what Mauya's managed to do.

"Really, that's a neat trick," you tell Mauya. "You've really gotten better at fighting."

She gives you a smile. "Thanks."

"Mauya?" someone asks from behind you.

Turning around, you find yourself looking at the old man who bought the Goat Gorilla from you and Lantana when you first came to the village.

"Gundro," Mauya grins, stepping toward the man, only to stop with a frown as he holds up a hand.

"You need to go," he tells her sternly. "Before the other villagers know you're here."

"How would they not know?" Lantana asks.

"Everyone ran inside when the fighting started," Gundro explains. "But they'll be out here soon, and you want to be gone before they are."

"But, why?" Mauya asks in confusion.

"This village is under Jung-" he starts. "Kalana's rule, now. And you've apparently managed to cross her. There's a bounty out on you, along with your friends."

"But, nobody here would try to hurt her, would they?" Lantana asks worriedly.

Gundro sighs. "I do not know. The reward for each of you is quite high, and even if they do not attempt to harm Mauya, I cannot vouch for the safety of the rest of you."

Sansha scowls, disgusted.

Mauya, meanwhile, looks both afraid and hurt.

"Gundro..." she says softly.

"Please, you need to go before it's too late," the old man tells her.

"Thank you for the warning," you tell Gundro.

The old man looks to you, his kind eyes shining with sorrow. "I'm sorry that is all I can do to help. Were I younger, perhaps I could do more. For what it's worth, I wish you luck, all of you."

"Thank you," Lantana tells him with a kind smile.

"Are there more soldiers ahead that we should worry about?" you ask.

"I do not know for certain, but I would assume so," Gundro answers. "Kalana controls everything West of this river and North of the Great Divide. And, if what I hear is true, her forces have begun pushing East toward Lord Gonho's city."

A jolt of worry shoots through you, but you simply nod in thanks.

"If you continue South along the river, you will eventually reach the Northern edge of the Great Divide," Gundro continues. "From there, you can travel West along the Divide until you reach another river. You can follow that to a port village, and find transport to wherever you need to go. Or, if you simply want to go further West on the continent, you will find a break in the mountains if you follow the river South."

"Thank you so much," Lantana tells him.

Retrieving the unconscious soldier, you climb aboard Pengsong, and your group makes its way away from the village.

Mauya looks saddened, while Sansha looks angry. Lantana, on the other hand, seems concerned, and looks toward you.

"Sei, we can go East if you want," she tells you.

"No, we have a job to do," you tell her. "I just have to trust that my mom and the people from my village will be okay."

Lantana nods, saying no more on the subject, and you ask if anybody has some rope that you can use to tie up the unconscious soldier.

Sansha provides you with a rope, and as you do your work, you ask Mauya if she's alright.

"I'm okay," she promises, her voice still a little sad. "But, if it's okay with everyone, I'm going to take a nap."

"Go ahead," Lantana tells her. "We'll wake you up if we need anything."

Giving a nod, Mauya lies down on Gava's back, closing her eyes.

Sansha sighs, glancing toward the sleeping girl. "So, then, are we going to head for the coast, or should we head for the Western continent?"

"Why wouldn't we head straight for the coast?" Lantana asks, looking over at the other girl.

"Well, if we take the long way, we can cause some trouble for Kalana's people," Sansha points out. "Then, once we reach the far coast, we can take a shorter boat ride to the Islands."

"What's Kalana up to?" you demand of the man.

"You mean, besides conquering the continent?" the man replies. "I hear she writes poetry on the weekends."

Not caring at all for his flippant attitude, you take out your blade, holding it in front of his face and giving him the meanest glare you possibly can. When you speak, your voice drips venom.

"This blade belonged to the Hunter," you tell the man. "Now let's try this again. What is Kalana up to?"

The man looks away from you, and he actually seems to be trembling a bit. "I don't know, I swear. All I've heard is that she's gone after something, I have no idea what."

"Well then, who's leading her army while she's gone?" you ask.

"Huli," he answers. "He was one of Jungo's top people, now he works for Kalana. He's in charge of conquering new territory."

"And what about old territory?" Sansha chimes in.

"Yeah," you agree. "Who's in charge of the areas she already has?"

"Xiong," he answers. "Some army officer that gave Jungo a hard time back in the-"

"A friend?" Sansha asks. "Why don't you tell us how you know this guy? Then, maybe our..."guest" here can fill in the blanks."

Lantana sighs. "Sei, I told you that I worked with some people and tried to stop Jungo's army several times before I met you. One of those people was Xiong. Like this guy said, Xiong was an army officer in the Kingdom of Mieshi, to the West. When Jungo's army came, he was in charge of the defense. I joined him, and for a while, it looked like we might actually be able to win. We made surprise attacks against scouting forces and took out several of their supply shipments. And, when Jungo's full force came against us, we were able to hold them off thanks to Xiong's leadership."

She lowers her head. "But, bit by bit, they wore us down, and we were driven back to the capital. We fought as hard as we could, but we couldn't hold Jungo off for too long. They broke through the walls, and Xiong ordered everyone to retreat. He stayed back to hold them off, and they killed him."

The soldier sighs. "Look, Avatar, believe what you want, but your boyfriend here asked me a question, so I answered."

Technniques I came up with:

-Encasing an arm or leg with rock and twist/crush it until it breaks.
-When shit gets too hard, create a cloud of dust and escape.
-Earthbenders are natural tanks. A kickboxing stance will help our defense. That's why is so important to train our physical strenght and endurance.
-Raise a small rock in front of our opponent and hit him with something bigger from behind.
-Our defensive advantage gives us better potential when fighting at close distance. We can learn grappling and even use this limb-twisting techniques with stone.
-Earth-skating will give us more speed. This can be used in fights too.
-Learn to taunt opponent and withstand attacks. That way, our companions can focus on the offensive.
-Surrounded? Create a dome around us (or two walls beside us, or even a wall in front of us) and make it explode in tiny rocks. That should do the trick.
-Dust, earth pillars and pits can be excellent to take people off guard. This can be tricky and difficult to learn and even more to master, but it's a great way t deal with enemies
Step one: Create cloud of dust.
Step two: Make a pillar about our height close to our position.
Step three: Go underground and execute an ambush.
We can even make this with another earthbender helping us.
-Making a stone round/tower shield or a pavise and a spear is great. The spear can even be used to attack in parts, and whenever it starts to get too short, we have plenty of stone around to replenish its lenght.

That's all, I guess.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU
>>
Didn't know Mauya became the avatar and learned how to make a water clone of herself.
>>
When Pengsong and Gava finally stop for the evening, and your friends begin to set up camp, you find something of a heavy feeling in your stomach. You've killed plenty of people before, but murdering a defenseless prisoner who gave you all of the information you asked for? That's a step that you feel uncomfortable about having taken.

Lantana doesn't seem to be doing so well herself. Once camp's set up, she announces that she's going to practice her Airbending and walks off toward the nearby forest. Clearly, she isn't taking what the prisoner said well.

Sansha and Mauya head for the river to gather water and do some fishing, while Pengsong begins trampling after Mauya, and Gava decides to take a nap, growling lowly in your direction as if to say "Wake me if something happens" before letting himself collapse onto the ground.

Tonight, you opt to switch things up a bit, training your body rather than your bending.

As it turns out, this is pretty good stress relief, and you work up quite the sweat as you run, do push-ups, crunches, and so on for roughly an hour, stopping when you feel that you've given yourself a proper workout.

Returning to camp, you find that Mauya has returned, along with Sansha, who readies some fish to be eaten as the Waterbender places everyone's canteens back with their bags.

Pengsong and Lantana are still gone.

You make your way over to the fire, and aid Sansha in preparing dinner. Before long, you've got a delicious meal of fish all ready for eating.

Still, Lantana and Pengsong have not returned.

"Where is she?" Mauya asks, looking toward the forest.

"She needs some time to herself," Sansha remarks without looking. "It's obvious she's having difficulty with what she heard about her friend."

Mauya sighs, looking back toward the fire. "The people in my village would have turned us in for some bounty, and Lantana's friend is working for Kalana. Is there anybody trustworthy anymore?"

Sansha shrugs. "Well, none of us have betrayed each other."

Mauya doesn't appear impressed. "Great, so there are three people in the world that I can actually trust."

"What about the old man back at the village?' Sansha reminds her.

Mauya sighs. "Right. Four."

She looks toward the forest again. "Lantana's been gone for a while. Think she's okay?"

Sansha nods. "Pengsong went with her, remember? If something happened, we would have heard him going crazy."

"You're probably right, Sansha," you acknowledge. "But I'm going to go check anyhow."

"Alright," she tells you as you rise and make your way toward the forest, passing a sleeping Gava.

It's not long before you can hear Lantana, grunting with exertion. Following the sound, you find her in a small clearing, ripping a massive chunk of Earth from the ground and hurling it into the air.

She raises her right hand, and clenches it into a fight, causing the rock to break into chunks which quickly rain down upon her. Rather than getting out of the way altogether, she stays in relatively the same spot, moving only just enough to avoid each chunk of rock as it comes down to hit her.

She moves quickly, avoiding most all of them expertly. Lucky thing, too. If one of those rocks hit her in the head, it could crack it open. You see sweat dripping down her face and the parts of her body that aren't covered. When the last of the rocks fall, she's panting heavily, red in the face.

In order to get her attention, you clear your throat.

Lantana whirls around, ripping up a chunk of Earth, stopping when she realizes it's you. She lets the Earth drop back into place, while Pengsong growls, as if telling her to get a grip.

"Oh, Sei," she greets. "What's up?"

"Dinner's ready when you are," you answer, jerking your head back in the direction of camp.

"Oh, thank you," she says, gesturing for Pengsong to follow as she makes her way over to you.

"What were you doing?" you inquire as the two of you make your way toward camp.

"The first bit of training Rinzen gave me was moving through a bunch of spinning panels," Lantana answers. "It was meant to improve my reaction time, and to teach me to go with the flow during battle. I don't have those panels now, but avoiding the falling rocks gave me some of the same training."

The three of you make it back to camp, finding Sansha and Mauya chowing down, while Gava continues to snore away.

"Welcome back," Sansha greets as you and Lantana take your seats by the fire.

Food has, of course, been saved for you, and there's even enough for Lantana to feed Pengsong when he starts to growl in complaint.

The food is great; much better than the rations you eat many nights.

Pengsong growls appreciatively, drawing a smile from the Waterbender. You reach out and pet the Elephant Mandrill, who nuzzles your hand before discovering it smells like fish and proceeding to lick it.

Other than that, dinner passes quietly, everyone enjoying the food. Once it's over, everyone takes to cleaning up, preparing themselves to get some sleep.

Lantana looks exhausted, and excuses herself to bed.

"You really respect this Xiong guy, don't you?" you ask her.

She nods. "He was one of the bravest men I ever knew. He was a hero, but if what that soldier said is true...."

Looks like as good a time as any to address the issue. "Do you want to do anything about that?"

She blinks. "What do you mean?"

I hope you guys had fun, and I hope all of the talking that seems to dominate these threads isn't boring you too much

Follow me @qmdralo to see when I am running this or another quest

As always, I will stick around

SOM, imo this is about 80 times better than DB quest. so yeah, I'm having fun.

Am I barking up the right tree?

Don't talk shit about best girl. She can appreciate a good pun, she just can't come up with good ones.
>>
>>914529
>>914527
>>914491
Okay, I always ask you anons who best girl is, but who is worst girl? State your cases

>Hard mode: No Kalana or childhood friend

>>914551
What do you mean?
>>
>>914534
Talking dominates because anons want to help everyone with their issues, but otherwise it's great
>>
>>914556
Sei really does become the therapist pretty often
>>
>>914555
Sei becoming a warlord, Lantana becoming the /real/ protagonist. Ba Sing Fei
>>
>>914570
'fraid not
>>
>>914576
Can we at least become a warlord and build the walls. And rename it Ba Sing Fei?
>>
>>914581
Mr Trump, please
>>
>>914589
I don't know why I want to rename it, you're right. All we have to do is add the 'i' onto the end of Ba Sing Se.
>>
>>914555
Among the main 3, it's tough to say. But probably Sansha.
>>
>>914612
How come?

>>914607
Anon, please
>>
>>914617
At this point, you're restricting Sei so much I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in a forest with a knife in his throat, or killed by his dad on creatine, or melted fighting a giant bug, or I never finished CYOA Saiyan so I have no idea how that ends but it was probably disappointing. Did I miss any?

Mauya. I appreciate that she keeps us (and, by extension, everyone) grounded, but that also makes her the least waifu worthy, in my eyes at least.

No idea why she's so popular. Maybe people hear "water tribe woman" and start thinking with their dicks. I can't really blame them, but a true waifu has to give you a boner in your heart AND your pants.
>>
>>914617
I have a thing for cute, delicious brown waterbenders. Sansha seems too rough around the edges, at least for my taste.
>>
>>914657
Fair enough

>>914660
Rough around the edges in what regard?
>>
>>914669
Not a big fan of warrior girls. Too desensitized to killing people. Not cute.
>>
>>914691
Don't worry, Sei is well on his way to being desensitized
>>
>>914691
>>914697

>>914691
Mauya did make that one guy stab himself.
>>
>>914555
Rinzen, hands down.

>my case

>likes to hit the avatar with paddles
>steals from libraries

Not gonna lie I feel like Sei and Sansha are beat couple, complement onr another on and off the battle field
>>
>>915400
I will admit that certainly does have very admirable qualities. She also keeps up with the puns very well. Muaya still a best though.
>>
>>915528

He's objectively right though.
