You awaken from your deep slumber. The computer informs you it has been 167,000 years since you have awoken.
You are Lady Knight [ERROR. DAMAGED SYSTEMS - CORRUPTED INFORMATION. PLEASE REENTER NAME:]
Welcome to Phoenix Knight Quest! I'm a new QM, but I hope to be a good host. Rules will be explained as they come up. Names and other non-critical decisions will be heavily influenced by but not decided by consensus. This is to avoid things like a ship being name "The flying dick coffin" or something like that. All actual gameplay choices will be entirely decide by consensus.

Well then.

You are Lady Knight Sera Helion of the house of Sturm. You are the first of the Phoenix Knights on this ship to awake.
You have been chosen for a difficult but incredibly important mission - establishing a foothold in the Perseus-Pisces Supercluster. You are to do this by any means necessary.

What do you do now?
>>
>>897292
Get a full status report of everything since we've been asleep for 167 millennia.
>>
>>897300
that goes without saying. inspect self, inspect surroundings, inspect equipment and transport etc.
>>
>>897300
You ask the ship's computer for a status report.
"There is heavy damage to multiple systems. Most stasis pods' stabilization is non-functional. 11 more Phoenix Knights out of 25,000 are able to be reawoken. None of the 10 million Allies onboard may be reawoken safely. Current statistics:

>12/25000 Phoenix Knights available (including you)

>0/10000000 Allies available.

>Ship Health (overall): 2320/200000000

>Comms: Long-range (intergalactic) offline. Medium-range (interstellar) online. Short-range (interplanetary): online.

>Propulsion: Interplanetary: online. Interstellar: Online. Intergalactic: Crippled. Long-range cruise (intersupercluster): offline.

>Weapons: Point-defense: online. Broadsides: half-capability. Bombardment: quarter-active.

>Hangars: Undamaged.

>Engineering: Heavily Damaged.

>Stasis: Heavily damaged.
>>
>>897336
Inquire as to the source of the damage, and if any messages were received during the trip.
>>
>>897336
Maintenance crew is counted in the Allies number?
Hopefully a ship like that have some sort of auto-repair/maintenance mode or something.
>>
>>897336
>>897343
>>897353
Allies are all aliens. Most of them do help in a support role, as Phoenix Knights are much better at combat, but there are some that can fight.
"The source of the damage seems to be collision. We probably impacted with an orphan moon in deep space, or something of the ilk."
Auto-repairs have already begun, but it will take more than a century to fix all the damage, as engineering is currently Heavily Damaged.
>>
>>897387

Get yourself an analysis in the medical bay, just to check if your body didn't atrophy or suffer undersirable effects from being placed on stasis. Also include a brain scanning to check if there was any damage in our mental faculties or in our short/long term memory
>>
>>897387
Nearby celestial bodies? Any communications in the area? Status of the armory.
>>
>>897387
>it will take more than a century to fix all the damage
Jesus fuck, if we get Engineering up to speed will that reduce the delay by a significant margin?

We'll need a full report of everything that work, or rather doesn't work and what can be done to repair it.
Also get into contact with the others knights and starts heading to the different crucial systems to man them/repair/turn them on.
>>
>>897400
The pod scanned you as you stepped out and reports no detrimental effects.
>>897401
You are within a system with 13 planets, and one Class-M White Star, and and asteroid belt. 3 of the solid planets possess an atmosphere. There are 7 Gas Giants, and 6 solid planets.
3 of the solids possess moons. All of the gas giants possess moons.
You detect no communication signals passing through the area.
The armory is mostly undamaged, but all stored weapons are built for Allies. Engineering can manufacture specialized weapons, vehicles, etc.
>>897464
Engineering repairs now focused. Estimated time of completion with current resources: 68 years.
Knight reanimation requires the presence of authorized personnel at the stasis pods.
>>
>>897526
Any asteroids in the region that could accelerate the process?
>>
>>897532
There is an asteroid belt, yes.

Please designate course of action.
>>
>>897537

Use scanners to detect the ones rich in resources useful for us
>>
>>897537
Head to the asteroid belt and build the things needed to get the foundries or whatever we use started on those repairs, head to the knights rendez vous points so we can review what's our mission and how to get out of this mess, turn all sensor to passive mode so we emit nearly 0 things that would make us appear on a radar.
>>
>>897542
The ship moves to the asteroid field and deploys mining drones. They will strip all useful elements to be reconstituted later. (Repair speed halved.)
>>
>>897553
The ship is passive except when actively scanning. It uses modulated frequencies and certain other methods for its communications and its scanners for its emissions to appear as background radiation.
>>
>>897565
okay then, I'll just wait for you to post the Knights meeting.
>>
>>897557
Clarification: repair time reduced to 34 years.

You raise your brother and sister Knights from their pods. They are:
Tech-Knight Malakir of Rubeus
Knight Tatania of Andromeda (Pegasus Armor)
Knight Markus of Ionius, an Arcanist
Knight Erzai of Teus-II
Knight Lizra of Chiron
Knight Maat of Trifesi, a medical specialist
Squire Morith, paired with Lizra
Page Torrin, medical training under Maat
Page Eezys, in navigation training
Page Estyra, mechanical training under Malakir
Page Soto, diplomatic and Arcanist training under Markus

You bring them to the bridge, and give them the status report. Malakir grumbles "I go to sleep for 167 milennia and the ship's already falling apart. I'll go see what I can do." (Repair speed increased. New ETR: 24 years.)
Markus and Soto comment that they can feel sapient minds on the fourth planet from the sun. The other Knights go get a bite to eat from the mess hall. You feel hungry yourself...
>>
>>897692
eat
>>
>>897734
You go and have a quick bite. Soto and Markus are sitting next to one another. Tatania, Lizra, and Morith are together. Maat and Erzai are talking with Eezys and Estrya.
Where do you sit and what do you eat?
>>
>>897765
Soto and Markus
>>
>>897773
So, you sit by Soto and eat Markus? Ok...
I'm not that dumb. You eat Generic Foodstuff(tm)
>>
>>897765
You sit down next to Soto and Markus.
"Hello, Lady Sera," Markus says. "Some interesting news - all of the pods containing the command staff aren't stabilized. You are now the de facto commander of this mission."
Soto pipes up: "I was hoping we could investigate those life forms. I need practice in diplomacy anyways."
What do you say or do?
>>
>>897820
First we need to secure a supply of food, water and repair material. after that ahs been done diplomacy may start.
>>
>>897835
You have repair material coming in from the asteroid field. The ship has hydroponics - [ERROR-HYDROPONICS DAMAGED. FOOD SUPPLIES ESTIMATED AT {13} {MONTHS}. SECURE NEW SOURCE OF FOOD IMMEDIATELY.]
The ship can reconstitute water from unused hydrogen and oxygen.
>>
>>897857
There should be water in the asteroid field too. WE can probably acquire fertile soil and foodstuff from the planet with the natives.
>>
>>897864
So, move to the planet? (You can deploy a mining barge that'll bring the haul to the ship every 24 hours or so.)
>>
>>897873
yes move to planet and deploy barge.
>>
>>897894
"I agree on the point of the sapients, but our first and foremost concern should be resources. Our hydroponics are damaged, along with most of the systems on the ship. We need biomass and ore. Computer, deploy a mining barge and take us into orbit of the 4th planet."
You feel the familiar lurch of the Relativistic drives. You will arrive at the planet in roughly an hour.
>>
>>897911
Look into any other issues the ship or crew may have. If they are none retire to our quarters for a shower and personal time.
>>
>>897924
The ship and crew have no issues beyond those listed, mostly. They are all antsy and stressed from not having fought or done anything for millenia.

You retire to the Commander's quarters and shower. It feels incredibly relaxing to be out of your armor. You feel exhausted on exiting, however.

Debate with the rest of the knights if this planet is worth colonizing in the name of our ... empire was it? The natural resources sounds useful, but those primitive native lifeforms would be of no use for us and would take one or two generations to teach them how to handle technology to be our vassals.

"I am vehemently opposed to this! The unprovoked slaughter of a race hardly out of its infancy is the sort of thing the Great Enemy would do!" exclaims Maat. She seems concerned.
"We do need more resources, and having a few farmers on board might help the hydroponics," says Malakir.
>>
>>898209
While killing them might be wrong, with out our guidance they will still engage in slaughter of one another. However manat might be right so I'll leave it up to other anons.
>>
>>898209

Peaceful approach then. Do we have shapeshifting armor/clothes technology? They could be afraid of our armor and ships and would be easier to deal with them if we use attires proper of their culture
>>
>>898226
>>898229
Diplomatic approach is completely up to you. Work it out, I'll be gone for about 45 minutes.
>>
QM off mobile here. Assume everything is possible, cause mostly, it is.
>>
>>898229
Would you be open to the idea of spying on, killing, and replacing their leadership?
>>
>>898290

As the advanced civilization we are, we should prove to be the better people and not use methods unfit of us. As for the approach, perform as planned, still wear our powerful armor in case we are mistaken for hostiles and attacked, but camouflage them with whatever technology we have to make it resemble protective gear from their culture and have the helmet display be off so they see how we are.

Take examples of our technology, basic harmless stuff like holographs and sound recording devices to prove we come in peace from a civilization way advanced compared with theirs and make proposals for a mutual agreement that will benefit both parties. They will agree to work their resources for us, mainly foodstuffs while we give them knowledge of better techniques for farming and mining suitable for their current technology level and then slowly introduce them to better tecniques and tools, so the change from using a pickaxe to controlling a mining drone isn't as drastic when enough years have passed.
>>
>>898383
I think we might be better off making our own food, and instead having them provide us with a tithe of troops.
And we should take a more leading roll in their society due to our large tech lead.
>>
>>898445

I'm not sure they would be useful troops considering their tech level, probably only good enough to deal with enemy feudal lords and native wild beasts, and I don't trust primitives enough to wear our cutting edge weapons and armor.

But you are right, we could take a more leading role, but only through diplomatic leads. Sure, OP said our mission was to colonize this area of the universe using any methods available, but i'm not sure it is ethical to influence too much the natural progress of a civilization that hasn't even developed space travel technology and probably is still trapped in the era of warrying states and is divided in several tiny factions. I guess we could flex some muscle and prove the factions of this planet that is wise to ally with us, but don't be too forceful on them.
>>
Should have taken the time to study the locals, learn their languages see how they relate to "foreign" groups of their own.

oh well.
>>
15-ish minutes till I'm able to post regularly again.
>>
>>898509
We could still watch them while we harvest more goods.
>>898472
As far as troops if we take in a generation of children we could train them into skilled spiders because as long we take them from their primitive setting they will be as fresh clay to be molded.

As far as ethics go I don't think there is any need to worry as sooner or later we would encounter one another. Better to save countless lives from common disease and petty wars.

>>898509
The xenos are living in a feudal society. Their planet is monocontinental, odd for a world of its age. The ships computer needs auditory contact with a native to translate the language, but it should be easily done. If necessary, Markus or Soto could translate telepathically.
>>898689
This is an option, though the teachings of the Phoenix advise against false gods.
>>
I think the best thing we could do is set up six bases on the land to harvest materials, and let the locals think they make the first move all while we spy on them.
>>
Here are some basic options to get the creative juices flowing:
>Set up a base
You could set up a base built around a shuttle, say, quite stealthily. This would allow observation and you to make first contact. You could also land somewhere very noisily and wait for the natives to make the first move.
>Orbital drop
You could orbital drop straight into or outside of a city, and storm the castle from there. Or, you could drop in the middle of nowhere and sneak into a city.
>Omega Protocol
Your ship may be crippled, but it still has the capability to wipe this race off of the face of their home planet. This requires a voting pool of at least five and 4/5 majority to perform.
>>
>>898970
Do we have enough shuttles to set up a base overseen by each knight save us and Tech-Knight Malakir?
>>
>>899027
Yes. The ship carries a complement of 15,000 shuttles.
>>
>>899040
Then I vote we have Tatania, and Markus set up stealth bases, while Erzai, Lizra, and Maat set up with a fair bit of noise and pomp.
>>
>>898886
totalt should go in soft at frist and find out which state/ lord would give us the most power for us to aid them in takeing over all the planet but make it clear that se are in charge
im sure that this iswill turn into some sort of holy war even if we dont try to make it one since tech about a certin leavl will look like magic these people are both going to love/hate worship us regardless what we do.
same thing happened when the spanish came to the aztics
we should make one of the peopel the chosin ones
>>
I'm going to wait a while for consensus.
>>
>>898970
Supporting this >>899076
>>
>>899076
You put this plan into effect. Maat requests to switch places with Tatania. Do you send anyone or anything else? Do you grant Maat's request? Any specific strategies or tactics to follow?
>>
>>899232
Have each knight accompanied by their paired squire or page with Erzai going down with Eezys, along with Tatania going withEstyra.

Allow Maat to swap places, but if Tatania does not have a more low key set of armor in the place of the Pegasus suit they should use a stealth base as well.

For tactics we should have Maat take samples of the local life forms as better medicine will bring the most good will.

The rest of the loud groups should set up a perimeter and enforce peace within it. Along with taking local samples to look for biomass harvest and mining nearby.
>>
>>899313
Tatania wears standard armor - the Pegasus suit is akin to an exoskeletal attachment that allows flight and high speed maneuvering.
Your medical procedures mostly rely on nanobots, but you can synthesize a chemical treatment as well.
Clarify: one large base as the perimeter, or multiple small bases in an uninhabited or neutral area? Taking land from a government would most likely provoke aggression.
>>
>>899346

Small bases in neutral ground. It's not like they really can do anything against our technology, so small bases should be enough in case we end up proving aggresion anyways.
>>
>>899376
Clarification accepted.

You dispatch the Knights in shuttles. They all look eager to do something.
Tatania and Eezys go in fast and loud, along with Erzay (Estera) and Lizra (Morith). Maat and Torrin set down just outside a city. Markus and Soto do the same at what looks to be the most powerful city.
>>
>>899398
You still here?
>>
Yes, but it seems we're winding down for the night. Dinner calls! We will resume tomorrow!
>>
When we pick up tomorrow can you tell us what the shuttles found?
>>
Phoenix Knight Quest is back in business, baby!

The shuttles deploy the bases inside them with little incident. Natives soon appear at the "Loud" bases. They're humanoid, slightly shorter than the average Knight at 6', and quite thin, but lanky. Their frames are built for speed and agility over power, so they require their tamed beasts to do most of the farming for them.
>>
>>901608

Make the base computers analyze their speech patterns and linguistics, probably they are talking each other about our bases and then use the data to add a translator app to the armors and computers.
>>
>>901648
The ship's computer has analyzed and decrypted their language. All Knights can now understand it.
Alright, to clarify - nothing is really a barrier unless I specifically mention a problem (mostly). Minor things, like translation, water, etc, take care of themselves because EDVANCE TEKNOLOGEE HURR DURR.
>>
>>901717

The predominate ores on this planet are silver and iron. The atmosphere is breathable. You recover edible plant life. (Hydroponics repaired, food unlimited.)

>>
>>902262
>>902377
Tatania invites some natives into a shuttlebase, but they refuse to enter, claiming that they fear that entering the realm of the angels would destroy them. They are responsive to your questions. They reveal:

>"Our world is called Sreti. We believed it to be everything, before your arrival."
>"Most of our Kings are content to sit in their {HIGH PLACES} and watch us work to feed them. Some are kind, however."
>"If two cities do not belong to the same kingdom, they are at war, or at best indifferent. No exceptions, really."
>"On our world, height confers power. The taller you are, the more favorably you are looked upon."
>"The beasts in the forest are strong and fast, but they cannot climb. There are no climbers better than we Wreth."
>"Watch the skies for pale string on the solstice, for it means the arrival of a demon."
[Note: the solstices appear to coincide with the time that the 4th and 5th planets are nearest.]
Other than that, they mostly just bow and thank the Knights for the peace they enforce. They gently rebuke this behavior, and send them on their way.
>>
>>904021
Have the knights on the loud ground begin building structure in the local style around the shuttle bases.
While we have Lizra and Morith retire to the ship to get ready to head the fifth planet to look for life on it.
While they travel do some basic scans of it.

As a side note a there any chance on recovering anyone still in stasis.
>>
>>904136
You order Lizra and Morith back to the ship. What do you send them to the fifth planet in?
>Move the whole damn supercarrier
>Send them in a shuttle (scientific, gunship, other?)
>Send them in a battlecruiser
The knights begin the construction of highly vertical structures. They are still using advanced technologies to build them.

"Computer, is it possible to wake another Knight? How about an Ally?"

"The risk is great - 90% probability of death without stabilization. I cannot allow you to wake a Knight with those odds, but Allies are expendable."
>I'll take those odds. Wake up an Ally. (Specify what skills you want from said Ally.)
>It's too risky. Leave it be for now.
>>
>>904254
This is me.
>>
>>904254
Send a gunship they should possess good sensors and have the means to protect themselves. Both of which we need for the scouting trip.

Wake up some maintenance personnel allies to help with repairs and they are expendable. Even if we lose some they are easy to train up. So long as we don't lose any engineers who can teach them.

not worth the risk waking up the more valuable personnel.
>>
>>904320
Require consensus on the point of reanimation for the allies.
Gunship confirmed. Sensor module upgrade complete.

Cool.

The away team of Lizra and Morith has been dispatched. While fast, the gunship isn't quite as quick as the supercarrier, which you've just realized doesn't have a name. You should expect a report back in about two hours.

>Name the supercarrier
>Decide on a course of action regarding diplomacy
>>
>>904931
I suck at names. So just keep bringing it up in the OP until anons agree on something is what I would suggest.

For the diplomacy...offer moderately better tech a bit beyond what they possess. To the aliens who agree to help us supply us. For the groups who agree introduce them to each other to help facilitate trade and alliances. Thereby insuring increased security for them and enhanced trade among themselves.

Can't give them too advanced technology given they wouldn't be able to make sense of it, but the stuff that is a bit ahead them currently should be enough for them to understand and make the correct use of.

Fertilizer for instance and crop rotation are good techs to offer them in the beginning. Which would be beneficial to us as it would increase their yields thereby aiding in our supply issue.
>>
>>904969
They already know the basics of fertilizer and crop rotation. You could offer them genetically-enhanced crops or nanitic fertilizer if you so wished.
The city-states all already know of and about each other. When I said diplomatic policies, what I really meant was how do you go about making contact with the city state you choose? Barge in the front gate or politely request audience?
>>
>>904931
>Decide on a course of action regarding diplomacy
Invite peons to fist our newly built towers, talking with the people, trying to find the person or group that is doing the most good will to lead a popular revolt.

Perseus-Pisces, anon. Perseus was the rider, Pegasus was the horse. I do like the names, but I'm gonna wait a while to set one in stone.

There are no real resistance movements. Some kings are quite awful in regards to how they treat their people - Maat is especially concerned with how many whip wounds she has to treat near her city.
The towers are now open to inhabitation by the locals. The Wreth express gratitude towards how comfortable the structures are. Many refuse to abandon their homes, however.

You give it to the locals in exchange for tithes of whatever useful materials they can bring you, as only the high-class have any real access to ore.
>>
>>905210
You have stores of combat automatons. Most any technology you could have use for is available for manufacture.

PKQ is back online!
You deploy 10 drones to each loud base. They form automatic patrol routes. Their intimidating appearance both keeps away the rare bandits and much more common beasts.
>>
>>907154
Speaking on droids, can we make bots to look like common city Geth?
If so make two thousands, give them some small sum of money, and begin sending them into every city to observe city life.
>>
>>907223
Yes, although you have Markus, Soto, Maat, and Torrin all available to infiltrate cities. Markus and Maat do so regularly, in fact.
>>
>>907352
Alright then, have Soto, Maat and Torrington infiltrate city's to look for revolutionaries or people we could mold in them.
>>
>>907398
Markus quickly responds to you:
"How about you come on down and I take you on a tour of the city myself? It'll be faster and we can knock heads to make a strategy."
>>
>>907774
"Agreed, it's time to stretch my legs, and you can remind me what it is we feed you for."

"It is time to stretch my legs. I look forward to the tour."
You board a shuttle and take it down to Markus' campsite. His base is buried under a tightly knit group of trees, in the forest to the east of the city. The city is on the western side of the continent, and is relatively prosperous.

As you arrive, Markus and Soto greet you at the door.
"How nice it is to see you! The locals can get tiresome after a while. They've developed the notion that I can see the damn future!" Markus grumbles.
"Want to get off this rock already?" you joke, and Markus smiles. "No, no. They've got some great ingredients for stew! Soto, pull up a seat."
Soto bows, and pulls up a chair to their table, in the cargo hold of the shuttle. The Arcanist hums to himself as he wanders into the engine room and comes back out with a big steaming iron vat.
"It's stew, from the surrounding forest. The locals bring us a bunch of food as payment for my wizarding services, and well... it has to go somewhere!"
Soto serves you up a bowl. You're pretty hungry, so you give it a taste - then almost immediately wolf down the rest. Having eaten reconstitute all your life, this is the first real food you've ever tasted, and DAMN if it doesn't taste good. The Arcanist and his Page are watching you eat with a shit eating grin and a look of fascinated horror, respectively.
"If you're done, my lady, you wanted a tour of the city?"
Ah, finally - character development! Interaction! Dialogue!
>>
>>908063
Sounds a fine idea for you to take me out on the town, and remind me why they think you are a wizard.
As in what does an arcanist do.
>>
Yo'ull get character development over my corpse orange.
>>
>>908210
Arcanists are psychic PKs of considerable power. They are trained specially, outside of the usual system, as only another arcanist can help them learn to control their power. The most powerful Arcanist on record, Zephyr, managed to cause a star to go supernova.
Arcanists can do a lot of combat oriented magic as standard training, but can specialize. Soto and Markus are both telepathy specialists.

>>
>>908228
"Their technology seems to be in the iron age. They construct most buildings from wood, but many defensive or important buildings are made of stone bricks. Their most advanced hand-held weapon is a rather ingenious crossbow-like design that uses small rocks as ammunition and has a hopper mounted on top. Nothing they have is of much danger to our Aegis suits, but they might get lucky. I've been using a sort of 'I'm not worth noticing' psychic field to move inside the city freely. well.

You just walk through the front gate. Most others are stopped, you just stroll right through.
You are standing in a large main road. Bohrim (large beasts of burden) pull carts up and down it. You are in the lowest part of the city, the slums. It's... well, you are grateful for your helmet. There is the castle at the top of the city - "north," slums to the east and west, and further north but below the castle are merchant districts.

>>908360
Sweet dreams perp.
>>
>>908354
>>908361
You go north to the castle and are eaten by a grue. Restart? and enter. The court doesn't notice. It's quite a beautiful building, for this era.
"The king's throne room will be at the top of the tower. We're in the reception atrium right now."

And with that, it's time for me to sleep. Keep well the fires of the Phoenix, brothers and sisters.
>>
>>908364
The atrium is quite beautiful, for the technology they had to build it. The Wreth have incorporated designs reminiscent of tree trunks, complete with branches that spread into the ceiling. It's all quite impressive. You think you could jump to the balcony ringing the top.

Something's still bothering you...
Waiting for you guys to think on what's wrong. >:)
>>
>>910241
Let's do a quick roll call for Markus, us, Soto, armor, guns, and ammo.
>>
>>910685
You have Markus alongside you, as well as your Deathdealer. Your Aegis comes equipped with a deployable physical shield on your left arm, and has the capability to charge its surface to shock attackers. You don't have any attachments equipped. The ship automatically transmits ammo into your weapon as long as it is within one orbital range unit. Soto remained back at the cottage. You and Markus are wearing your Aegis armors. Markus' is specialized for channeling his power over defense.
>>
>>910708
Alrighty then, lets ignore that feeling and snoop around to look for the heir to the throne.
>>
>>910853
You look around the bottom floors and find no one but servants, who don't see through Markus' field.
"The King and Court will be on the top floor. I... actually don't know if there is an heir. I haven't dealt with the nobility too much..."
>>
>>910928
"well then, lets watch just how the king carrys out court."
>>
Rolled 14 (1d100)

>>910939
You get to the top floor, and don't even give in to your urge to jump it.

The court is laid out like a pyramid, with a lower, wider base of less powerful nobles on the bottom and a single seat on the top, occupied by the king.

Well, I sure can't roll.

The court doesn't notice you, but you can't pick up on who the heir is, if there is one. All the Wreth on the second layer look the same, because their faces are masked.
"I might be able to psychically scan for the heir, but that would drop the field. We'd need to find a hiding place to go unnoticed."
>>
>>910980
"I see... Given the Wreth's love of height perhaps the answer we seek lies at the top of the highest tower. Lets search"
>>
>>911010
This is, in fact, the top of the tallest tower. But there is actually a ladder behind the king.
"The ladder leads to his personal chambers, most likely," says Markus.

Somethings really bothering you. It's getting distracting...
>>
>>911021
Alright then, lets slip off into a side alley and drop the illusion and check for people following us.
From there Markus can mental scan for the heir, and if the heirs of any of the second to the top step nobles.

A few things almost go wrong - a maid turns a corner unexpectedly and almost knocks into you - but you manage to find a quiet, unused hallway where Markus can work his magic...
>>
>>911084
He drops the spell, rather noisily, but not enough to attract attention.
He sits down, and starts to channel. You see some hardcore shit - a giant, silver thing with teeth, a world's atmosphere boiling off, other disjointed flashes. When you come out of it, Markus is helping you to your feet.
"Sorry, that was a bit of a wide-bore spell. I'm still not used to working with others. Good news or bad news first?"

The field seems to hold, but you can't be sure. You start back out the way you came.
>>
>>913370
Miraculously, you don't run into anybody. You get out into the city undercover. You get out of the city by simply leaping over the gate, and sprint away into the forest. You just barely stop yourself before slamming into the shuttle. You almost rip the door off, tumble inside, and yell at Soto to get his ass in gear.
"We're leaving right fucking now! C'mon!"
The shuttle gets off the ground and back to the ship which still doesn't have a name and docks. The whole thing takes maybe half an hour.
Back on the ship, you tell it:
"Set course for the fifth planet from the star, maximum speed."
<Complying.>
>What do you do as you travel?
>Go to the armory
>Get Markus and Soto to try to find the missing Knights

You have limited time, so only two of these actions can happen.

>>Go to the armory

You head down to the armory. Malakir is there, beating a machine into submission - he doesn't seem to realize you're there, as he continues grumbling curses almost constantly as he bends things back into alignment. Or maybe he does know you're there and he just doesn't care.
You have quite a few options in terms of modules and weaponry, but the armory is still crippled and can only produce 3 of the following options:
>Additional plating (+10 health, +10 to all Endurance rolls, -10 to all Agility rolls)
>Seraphim Pack (Allows flight, -5 health, new Critical point)
>Breaker Sword (rends through flesh and steel alike. Provides second melee attack per turn. Anti-Armor.)
>Flamethrower arm attachment (area of effect, additional ranged weapon. Short range. Provides new Critical point.)
>Auto-targeting shoulder weapon (long-range, high accuracy, low damage. Additional, uncontrolled, attack per turn.)
>Command crown (Super-powerful comms/sensor suite.)

After your armor has had everything installed on it, you head to Markus' quarters. He's meditating on the ground, but gets up as you come in.
"Hello there, Lady Sera. Nice new gear."
"Thank you, Markus. Can you do another psychic scan for the missing knights?"
He frowns, pondering for a moment. "Yes, with time. A more focused scouring may pierce whatever veils the Knights - if they are veiled, and not dead."

The Arcanist concentrates. After about five minutes, you are lifted off your feet, along with all of the loose objects in the room. Energy crackles through the atmosphere. You feel a static shock -

You are breathing hard. Some great... thing... with a million shifting teeth is facing you. Broken bodies lie on the ground around it. It makes a hideous shrieking sound, that pierces both your ears and your mind.
