Welcome back, UJCIDF Special Catnip Remover Division, to the sixty-eigth installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. I'm Wong, your host, and today you are Lieutenant Amos A. Wedge of the United Jovian Colonies Independent Defense Force, Special Operations Units & Logistics Squad C, currently in deep trouble with his girlfriend.

Last time, your patrol was interrupted by a mysterious challenger who fell from space in a ball of fire. Although it ended in a draw that left your mech unable to fight, the worst was yet to come, as an emergency communication from the ship revealed that a large cell of native insurgents disguised as extremely cute maids had taken over the ship. You and your friend Garret devised a clever plan, donning power armor and pleading mechanical failure to avoid being taken prisoner with the rest, while stowing away in Simon's mech's storage compartment to infiltrate the ship unattended. Once there, a combination of stealth and brute force proved too much for the Qu'liri to handle, but now you and your emancipated crew face a new threat, in the form of the Avalonian ace who beat up your Pumpkinseed II and two dozen elite huscarls.

Worst of all, you hung up on your girlfriend, then put her into a conference call with the Avalonian leader. The only thing sparing you is the fact that he is an extremely convenient outlet for her spleen.

Fair warning, this is going to be a fairly short segment, probably done by midnight.

>"Seriously, i know that everyone is getting emotinal and everything too, but lets face it, all this "Shoot your hostages an i'm shooting my hostages", getting random local people into the conflict, using traitors... And then dueling and talking about honor like nothing as happened, SERIOUSLY, this got in my nerves already, we both know that we've have gone too far and this isn't the things that we went here to fight for, this is nothing like the thing that both of us say to our people and isn't anything like the stories of glory and honor that i grew up hearing and that you guys seem to love too... Nobody more got to die, lets just correct this mess and go each of us into our merry way, look, instead of pointing guns to unharmed people and demand surrender, lets just end this okay? I'm sure that you are anxious to be reunited with your bride, and i'm just as dying to have mine in my arms."
At least two guys were backing this last thread.

Irina's voice drops down significantly in volume, it's actually scarier. You keep quiet, somewhat in awe of her sheer rage.

"I'm so tired of you." She tells him, "I'm tired of being unsafe around our own allies, of the constant treachery, the betrayal, the spying and ambushes, of having to look constantly over my shoulder when I should be enjoying a date with Amos...but you know, none of that would bother me so much if you didn't pretend you were better than us, that you were born better, that you're more honorable when you're stabbing us in the back.”

You and he both sigh at the same time, but he speaks first, “I know.” He says, “I don't like it either. This isn't the kind of fight I wanted, it isn't the kind of fight any of us wanted...except Count Ford of the Gerin and he's a monster in his own right and would probably prefer to burn you all at the stake. This wasn't my idea, I didn't even want the kittens to get involved, but if it's for the sake of the woman I love I'll sacrifice everything in this galaxy.”

An idea strikes you, “So you're here for her, then, Dame Wayland?”

Here you go. Use how you see fit.
'You want your fiance, fine. Get off the ship and tell us who the traitor is. We will get the right for the Paladin on fair terms with proper machines. Otherwise it becomes a race of who can get to their goals first and if I reach the bridge, then we go down and this get worse for everyone. You get your love, I secure the ship properly, save civilians who were dragged into this thanks to your helper, and we can do this whole thing nobly or what have you.'

>>894439
Wong, could you please awnser a question for me?
First, in case of a missile spamm causing multiple crits... Do you roll more than one time in the crit table?
Second, if a target doesn't have a "Other" servo and you roll that in the random hit location, what happen? Do you roll again? And what you hit it with missile spam? Do you jump to the next(Special location) or roll that one missile again?

“Of course. What, you thought I was married to the Duchess? By the Lady, no. She's well-preserved, but...she's a bit old for me.” He laughs wryly.

Irina cuts in, but it doesn't sound like she's talking to either of you until she addresses you personally, “Stop scowling. Amos, spooky is pretending like she can hear what you're both saying, this mystic nonsense is really making me want to shoot her.”

“I assume you have her in a cell. Trust me when I say it would be a very bad idea to open it.” The Avalonian man comments.

“Especially because once you've shot her, our entire bridge crew and commanding officer will have a life expectancy of minutes.” You add. “Including your friend Martha and the Captain.”

“Amos, don't take his side!” She snaps, “You're still in trouble with me!”

“Not as much trouble as you'll be in with me if the Duchess separates you from your gun and takes you prisoner.” You reply, before addressing the Avalonian, “Sir...I'm sorry, I don't know your name.” Although you recall mention of a Sir Hector.

“Hector Van Damme, at your service.” He responds.

“A pleasure to meet you.” Good manners, your grandpa was wont to say, cost nothing to anybody, “You know, you and Dame Wayland both managed to work over one of my mecha, I'm sure once you're back together that's something you'll both be able to laugh about.”

“I don't intend to see the inside of a cell any time soon, Sir Amos. I know you think we don't have enough men, but we've all abandoned our fear of death.” He warns you.

“That doesn't mean a man who's getting married should rush towards it.” You protest, “Look, the way things are going, a lot of people on both sides are going to get killed. I don't want anyone important to me to die, and neither should you. What would Elizabeth say?”

“Mmmph.” He grunts noncommittally.

“I think it would be a little sharper than that.” You shrug, “I have an idea. We declare a temporary truce, we both go to the bridge and convince...what's her name, Palmtree?”

“Palmyra.” He corrects you.

“Palmyra. We go to the bridge, you tell her to stand down, and you take Dame Wayland with you and just...just go.” You think you're being quite reasonable.

“Amos!” Irina protests.

“Bloodlust isn't going to do us any good, honey. So long as we still have the Paladin the brass will probably say losing one enemy officer in exchange for keeping several of ours alive is a fair trade.” You feel like you're fighting two enemies at once.

“She's nodding.” Irina growls, “And she wants me to repeat...and she could stand to be a lot more respectful with these requests...that she finds this acceptable. She actually looks smug. Is this something they teach Paladins? Are they all crazy, stuck-up, insufferable witches?”

Sir Hector grunts, “Let's just say there are a lot of differing viewpoints among our Paladins and leave it at that. My lord and teacher, the honorable Duke Eustace de Rothschild-Beauchamps of the Oliver, sees but seldom eye to eye with Duchess Carnegie, but she is the liege-lady of my betrothed, so...”

“I understand.” You do, at least sort of.

“Could you kindly hand your comm to the Duchess, if possible? I would fain hear her orders before agreeing to what I would denounce as an obvious trap from anyone with a less impeccable reputation. The Blue Knight is highly thought of, as Gas Knights go. Certainly you are no Sir Merrow, Amos Wedge.” It sounds like a compliment from his tone.

“I'll give her my PC through the food-tray slot, but if she doesn't give it back I'll hold you responsible.” Irina grumps.

There's a rustling sound, and then the eerily smooth voice of the Paladin, “Sir Van Damme, do not think I did not hear you fail to defend mine honor, but as you simply reflect the ignorant skepticism of your liege-lord as a moon reflects its sun's light, I shall allow it to pass unchallenged. Do as the boy says. I am quite comfortable here, moreso than I would be in Count Ford's company, and I feel no fear for my life. Unlike your master, I believe completely in the Lady, and that she has a plan for me, and that my purpose is not yet expended. These solars are petty creatures, but fond of their pomp.” You must have made some sound of disbelief at an AVALONIAN, particularly one who pilots the Berenger, talking about pomp, because her voice becomes much sharper, “Silence, Blue Knight. As I was saying, they will not simply kill me out of hand, but in front of an audience as large as possible in a show of strength. So long as I endure, my mission continues, and my mission is better served here on the ship bearing the Jovian princeling than it is huddled in the jungle awaiting the awakening of the horror that sleeps below this world. Take your lover, and go forth, I shall do my utmost to attend thy wedding.”

You hear him gulp slightly, "Yes...yes your excellency. It shall be done. Ah, Sir Amos, what is to be the fate of the girls who stole your ship?"

"I'll release them in exchange for the identity of the person who has been leaking information to you. You're a man of honor, I know you don't like the thought of a traitor getting away with their crimes any more than I do." You decide.

Roll it again, and yes, you roll multiple times on the crit table. Missiles are kind of a high risk, high reward strategy.
>>
>>894632
Wait... So if i roll a 5, for example, it would hit the arms, the legs, RANDOM ROLL and Special?
Or do you prefer to roll everything? And we houserule that we should roll for each missile that hit? It would make more sense than the official rule, thats for certain, but could be pretty fatal in some cases (Like if you hit 5 shots of 3K missile in someone's torso.)

“As for the Palmyra girl, that fool has been a disappointment. She should never have allowed Garret Luxol out of her sight, and she should never have executed her plan so poorly. I do not think I could contain my displeasure, were I free to do so. Sir Van Damme, please express my distaste when you see her. I do not desire her death at this time, so perhaps the butt of your blade or the back of your hand will do.” She continues.

“I'm sorry, your excellency, I didn't quite catch that last part, I'm afraid there was some static over the line.” The knight responds stiffly.

“I told you to hit her. She has made a tremendous annoyance of herself.” The Paladin repeats.

“There it is again! Sir Wedge, did you sneeze or something? I think I got the gist, your excellency, you want me to give her a firm talking-to.”

“No, I want-” The Paladin insists.

“Kssshshhhttthsshh!” Hector makes an indescribable mouth sound, sort of like static if you're half-deaf, “Kssssshh! Oh, I'm sorry, your excellency, I can't hear you at all. See you at the bridge, Sir Wedge, I'll think about that last condition you made on the way there.” He terminates the call.

“You, Blue Knight, tell him to give that psychotic little beast a proper thrashi-” She tries you next, to no avail.

“Kssssh ksssh kssssh! Wow, this PC's connection is terrible, just terrible!” You're a bit more shameless than Hector Van Damme and don't quite try as hard, "Tell Irina I love her and that I have to go. I'm hanging up on you, not her!" You feel important to make that distinction as you terminate the call and begin leading your impromptu force first to the armory, then the bridge.

In war you'll find that there aren't that many real bastards, just a bunch of men and women trying to get home and not get shot.

Some of them might have drank the Koolaid and belive the propaganda, but the smart fucks know that the brass doesn't give a fuck if they live or die as long as the objective is complete.

If you gotta fudge the rules a bit to make sure you and yours gets out of the mission alive then that's what you do.

If you can complete enough of your objectives to cover your ass afterwards, then you're fucking golden.

You expect a lot more drama than there actually turns out to be.

As your crewmates, many of whom have never fired a weapon at a living target before, finger their arms and stare nervously at the much smaller yet perfectly disciplined troop of power-armored warriors, you and Sir Hector clasp forearms in a Roman handshake, although he doesn't quite seem to get it at first and tries to grab your hand instead. Eventually, a sour-looking Irina arrives with a few MPs and a handcuffed Dame Wayland in tow, “Well? What are you waiting for?”

“Hector! Oh, my Hector, you came for me!” Dame Wayland's eyes light up, “Hector!”

“Liza!” He roars happily.

“Hector!”

“Liza!”

“Hector!”

“Liza!”

“Heeeeector!”

“Liza~”

“Oh Hector~” Dame Wayland tugs herself away from the restraining grip Irina has on her forearm and runs over to him. They embrace, him picking her up by the waist, lifting her into the air, and spinning in a circle, both of them laughing. At last, she settles down, “But what of Duchess Carnegie?”

Sir Van Damme lowers his head in faint embarassment, “Alas, I have failed. My mission was foiled by Sir Wedge and the Jovian prince. Had their scheme not transpired, my worthies and I would have faced only scattered opposition and retaking you both would have been easily. Thankfully, your mistress generously forgave me and bid me take you and depart.”

“I wish people would stop calling me a prince.” Garret remarks, “Our system doesn't work that way and it's a little insulting to say it does.”

“The Jovian known formerly as a prince.” Hector corrects himself, prompting Garret to cover his own visor with one hand and sigh in despair.

You spot Irina, still scowling, shooting you a sideways glance. You take off your helmet, hand it to Simon, and give her a big, cheerful grin, “Irina!” You hold your arms out, hoping she'll get in the spirit.

Her scowl deepens.

“Irina!” You hold them out again, your smile unflagging.

Her lips quiver, then she snorts and reaches up to caress your cheek, “How can I stay angry at this face?” She kisses your cheek. Mission accomplished.

Garret grumbles, crossing his arms, as two of Hector's braves cut Marilyn loose, one getting his head rattled as she slaps him across the visor.

“That's for staring at my butt the whole way up here, pervert.” She sticks her tongue out and saunters over to your group, rubbing her arms to restore circulation in them.

“I'm glad you're alright.” Garret tells her, “The only reason I was quiet on the way here was because Amos was talking with the guys that grabbed you.”

“I know.” She says with a smile, her ears tilting forward slightly.

“I wanted to charge off and rescue you, but that wouldn't have been very smart, this gun causes a lot of collateral damage.” He pats the stock of his M-2.

“I know.” Her tail swishes behind her, a soft purring sound behind her voice.

Well, turns are about 10 seconds each. One action you can take is aim, which gives you a plus one to hit the target you are aiming at. If he starts to monologue, start taking aim actions until he reaches the peak. Then spend all our luck to give him enough needles to sleep for a day. Then we can do the standard stuff, like interrogation, dealing with traitors, or even trussing him up and sending him to Fairchild.

You and Hector look each other in the eye. You speak first, “What matters more, a traitor's life, or the lives of the natives who helped you get your wife back?” You notice the roving squads of maids seem to have been brought to heel, a dozen or so peeking out from behind Hector's own troops.

He looks at them too, then sighs, “You drive a hard bargain. I'm sure that man will be angry about this, but it was a young woman. I think her name was Marcia. No, was it Marsha? Ah, no, now I remember, it was...”

“Martha. Martha Blume.” Irina's voice is steely.

Hector nods, “That was her name, Martha.”

You look at the door to the bridge, “How are we doing this?”

Hector chuckles, “Allow me, consider it a service.” He taps the buzzer on the door, “Sir Hector Van Damme. Open up, kittens.”

The door opens, and he's greeted with a chorus of enthusiastic mews as he and his braves march inside in lockstep. Meanwhile, Irina removes Wayland's cuffs, her movements mechanical and precisely deliberate. Her face is as blank as a mask after the recent revelation. The mewing turns to wailing as, moments later, the power-armored troops return, each carrying at least one Qu'liri woman over their shoulders, and several holding two. Hector himself has the fourears tucked under his arm like a farmer carrying a small pig, her legs thrashing as she tries to hit him with her cane, “Stop! Stop! This is betrayal! How can you do this, Sir Hector!? Are you not our ally? Were we not embarking on a glorious revolution together?” Seen like this, she almost seems pathetic.

“We lost, Palmyra.” He says, less sadly than would perhaps have been appropriate, “The Blue Knight beat us in the end, now my only concern is saving and protecting my allies.”

“But we haven't painted this ship with the blood of normies yet!” She howls, kicking all the harder.

He shifts his grip to compensate, “What a shame.” He doesn't sound sorry at all,

“Are you abandoning the Duchess? You coward! You callow boy! Give me back my pistol, I'll rescue her myself!” She really is on the verge of tears.

“She herself ordered us to depart.” Hector turns towards you, “Sir Wedge, we put the ship on autopilot, it should land shortly. Congratulations on your heroic victory.” He passes by, giving you a clear view of the room inside, of the freed bridge crew rubbing circulation back into their limbs and Captain Clearwater sighing regretfully after the maids. Your eyes meet Martha's, and the hate in them gives way to terror as she realizes that you know.

You look at Irina. Irina looks at you. Without asking, she grabs the telescoping shock baton off your belt.

“No...no...no Irina, please, no!” Martha has never struck you as a brave person. She shrinks back from Irina's approaching shadow, one hand held out as if trying to ward her off.

“You put this entire ship in danger.” Irina's voice is clinical, rigidly controlled.

“I...I did it for you! Irina, it was all for you, all of it!” Martha's voice shakes, “I swear! I didn't want to see your work go unappreciated again! It wasn't fair what Bahamutcorp did to you and...and I couldn't have them just abandon you on this filthy backwater!”

Irina flicks her wrist, extending the baton, “You put all of us in danger. You sold us all out.”

Martha sobs, her back hitting the monitor as she tries to scuttle backwards away from the approaching scientist, “It's all the stupid mandrake's fault for not growing! You were getting so angry and so sad because it wasn't responding and then...and so...” She shudders, “I only contacted the Paladin so you could get a better sample! I-I thought if you had a mature one...I thought if you had a mature one, you wouldn't need it to grow! I just...I was just so tired of seeing you unappreciated! You're a genius, a real one, but nobody ever recognized it but me!”

“That's classified information, Martha.” Irina turns on the shock baton, with a crackling hiss of electricity. The Captain stands up, starting to move between the two women.

Martha shrieks, “I-I was blackmailed this time! The four-eared one said if I didn't help her she'd tell the Captain what I did.” She looks at you with a mixture of terror and rage, “Damn you! Damn you! If YOU hadn't come here, it would never have started growing! The mandrake only responded after you seduced her for your own ends, you piece of filth! I know you're behind this, you just want me out of the way!”

The Captain looks down at Martha with a sorrowful expression, sighs, and straightens his collar, “I shouldn't see where this is going. Pardon me, I need to use the lavatory.” He nods to Irina and walks off the bridge, gesturing for the rest of the bridge crew to follow him.

Martha smiles, with almost a kind of mad hope, the delusional calmness beyond fear, in her eyes, “I just wanted you to need me, the way I need you.”

I.. think those are the buds for the bio platforms the greenman used. It would explain a lot and if they used them as a basis for a user safe mecha, then you can get machines that can heal, have biocores, and can be grown.
Forget SOUL, this place is important because it can make PALADIN class mechs!
>>895263
Don't think we can if we wanted to. This is likely another case of 'Bahamut corp gots Irina by the balls'. This is also one of those situations where we have to soldier on and be a good role model for Irina in hopes that this tech doesn't end badly.
>>

Prolly responds to her emotions
>>
"I'm sorry, Martha." Irina says calmly.

"I-Irina please, it's okay. You don't have to apologize. Now, now we can finally be together! You understand all the pain and fear I went through for you!" Tears run down Martha's cheeks.

"I should have had you arrested as soon as I caught you poking around in my room. You would have been punished and reassigned, but it wouldn't have ended up like this." A thin ribbon of regret in Irina's voice swells into a thick tint of sorrow, "I am so, so sorry. In every way, I truly have been an awful friend to you." She smiles, so sadly it breaks your heart.

"Irina..." Martha murmurs through her sobs.

Irina places the tip of the baton against Martha's breastbone, the dark-haired woman twitching and jerking spastically with a muffled squeal of pain before she falls limp to the floor. Irina deactivates the baton, and tosses it to the floor, speaking in a quiet, lifeless voice, "Take her away, lock her up next to the Paladin. I don't ever want to see her again." She addresses the MPs without looking at them, walking past like a zombie. She grabs your arm, and looks up at you, wordlessly pleading for you to follow her. So you do. The two of you walk down the corridor away from the bridge, leaving the others behind to get the female crew members' rooms unlocked, land the ship, and ferry the unconscious Qu'liri prisoners from the brig and the cargo bay off with Hector and his people. You walk until nobody else is around, and then Irina turns towards you, her eyes shining with tears. You put your arms around her, and she collapses into them, sobbing.

One of the head scientists it seems, but likely not him. Not even sure if he's alive. Either way, this is sort of the worse situation to do that. Bahamut corp is holding the majority of Jupiter's mech production lines. Messing with them will endanger a ton of lives along with our own and Irina's.
This is a case where we are a Soldier who must do what he is told after seeing through a crack in pandora's box. How ironic, that the one who brings the best out of such a possible thing is a Farmboy.

Pray that it doesn't get to this point.

You hold her as she cries. It feels like a long time, but it probably isn't more than a few minutes of intense, racking sobs before she recovers herself and straightens up, “I'm a mess.” She mumbles.

“You're still beautiful when you cry, you know.” You inform her, in the way men inform women of things when they're trying to support them, even when they know it isn't helping.

She sniffles noncommittally.

“About this mandrake thing, it's something I won't ask about. Like I promised, I won't poke my nose where it doesn't belong. As far as I'm concerned, she was just ranting.” Although you are wildly, wildly curious.

Much to your surprise, she shakes her head, and takes you by the hand, “Let's go, they should have the room locks fixed by now. It's time I showed you, anyway, it won't be a secret for very much longer.” She takes you to the room that used to be hers and now is shared by both of you. It's not a long walk, she's got enough clout to have her suite of rooms in a coveted location without much of a trek to the lift. Once there, she goes to the locked door that you've never seen inside, and opens her left eye wide for the retinal scanner. The scanner beeps approvingly, and a small section of wall moves aside to reveal a compact keyboard. She types in a complex, overly long password, and the door slides aside with a hiss.

It's bright inside. Bright lights set in the middle of rank after rank of rotary hydroponic arrays sting your eyes, and you breathe in a faintly minty, pungent scent. The room is huge, it looks like Irina decided to just use one room of her rather large suite and convert the rest into a hydroponic garden. You recognize the shape of the leaves, and look skeptically at Irina, “Cannabis?”

She looks mildly ashamed, “Don't tell anyone. Marilyn and I started this together to make some extra money. I grow it, she sells it.”

You cross your arms, “You're selling drugs to the locals.” It isn't a question.

She sputters, “And some of the crew! Look, Amos, it's not as if it's illegal.”

“Are you paying the appropriate tax on it?” You inquire.

Her gaze shifts away from yours, “Don't worry about that.” She frowns, “Look, growing up, I was never showered with praise like my sister was. She had her voice and her looks and her glamour to make her money. I was just plain Irina, Rosita's little sister, and if I wanted to make my way in the world I had to do it the hard way. I was always good with plants and took care of the family garden, it wasn't hard to buy some seeds and start selling unlicensed marijuana to the local kids, even for a fourteen-year-old girl. I got beaten up and robbed a few times, but that's life on some of the more densely populated colonies. Don't judge me, this isn't what I brought you here for anyway.” She grabs your arm and leads you deeper into her private greenhouse. Emerald light swims around you as she leads you all the way to the back, where numerous sunlamps create a column of golden illumination around...something honestly rather difficult for you to describe.

At first glance, it looks like a vine floating in a glass tank, but on a second glance you can tell that it's clearly the root structure of some plant. It's white and rubbery, with several main strands descending from a tiny tuft of bluish-green leaves sticking out through a hole at the top of the tank, each of the strands sprouting many smaller hairs. All in all, the root structure is about as large as you are, and creepily...it has a shape that looks almost like a twisted caricature of a bipedal human form. Just looking at it makes you uneasy somehow.

Irina speaks softly, “That, Amos, is a mandrake. THE mandrake, really, the first one whose growth we've had the chance to study.”

“I still don't get it.” You say slowly, with the impending sense that something here is very, very sinister and you're just not grasping it.

She sighs and tucks an errant lock of her hair behind her ear, “The first time we managed to wound a Paladin, it was with a superweapon codenamed Megabass, the particulars of which I'm not technically supposed to talk about even if it's not a perfect secret. The Paladins Gerard and Anseis ambushed a convoy the Megabass was escorting, and it retaliated along with its escort mecha. The Anseis killed a Lieutenant using an early iteration of the plasma sabers from project Skywalker, stole his weapon, and managed to escape safely. The Gerard lost an arm and a leg before it realized it was outmatched on sheer firepower and retreated.”

“Why did I never hear about this?” You ask, frowning.

“Because discussing the Megabass in the official PR is verboten, the brass believes it would make the public nervous. Besides, it wasn't a real victory, people on our side died and both Paladins successfully evaded capture. Anyway, the debris from the Gerard was brought on board almost immediately, were dissected, and that was when a remarkable discovery was made.” She looks up at the mandrake, floating in its tank, “The Paladins are alive.” She touches the glass, “At least, their core control system and power source is. What you're seeing here is essentially a larval Paladin. Now, as powerful as they are, we've come to the conclusion that they're a pale, wan shadow of the Green Men's bio-armor themselves, on their own they would be completely useless...but hooked into a system modified from our own HMIS, and effectively cyborgized with armor and support structures protecting it, and proper weapons given to it, it's still quite lethal. You scratched the Berenger's heart with that missile, Amos, and it's only just now properly healing the damage.” She taps on the glass with her fingertips, “Miraculously, some of the Gerard's mandrake was still alive, the survivors of the ambush took the debris onto the ship immediately, like I said. A bud was found on it that was surgically extracted and preserved. It was assigned as a project to me, and ever since, I've been trying to get it to grow.” She has a ghostly smile on her face, the mandrake reflected in her eyes, “You know, when you arrived, it wasn't any bigger than my smallest finger. Look at it now. Soon, this room won't be able to hold it anymore. Do you want to know the real reason we requisitioned that hotel, Amos? Because it receives more sunlight than anywhere else in town, and because its tower structure can be converted into a greenhouse for the mandrake. It's the same reason why the brass went through the trouble of sending all of those valuable scientists and technicians here despite the ongoing war. Eventually, this will be Simon's mech, the Squilla. A weapon to surpass the Paladins and the Black Ogre alike.”

The most important thing is Amos' emotional response to the fact that this is going to be Simon's mech. It is, after all, a homemade Paladin.

In terms of Simon, this is a case of being there for our buddy and making sure he comes out of this alive, happy, and stable. He is one of our best buddies. "This is amazing." You say the first thing that pops into your head, "Really, really amazing...and kind of terrifying. Why Simon?"

She shrugs, "Someone higher up the Bahamutcorp food chain picked him as their guinea pig. I can make a few guesses as to who, but not with certainty."

"Because he has friends who can bail him out if something goes wrong." You give her a brave smile to hide your uneasiness, "You really are a genius."

"And you really know how to flatter me." She smiles, still a bit awkwardly.

"Can it hear us? Is it alive?" You tap on the glass.

Irina grabs your wrist before you can do it again, although since you're still in power armor that's mostly a symbolic gesture, "I don't know, and if I don't know, nobody knows." She glowers, "Except for that towheaded bitch in the brig, and she's not talking. The Captain would never let me torture her or anything, naturally, and just asking her questions just gets me a lot of mysterious smiles, cryptic pablum, and smug silences."

"Do you think you could do something with the mandrake in the Berenger?" You put your arm around her, and for a moment your heart stops as you see the tiny hairs on the mandrake stirring before you realize that the water recirculator is active and creating a mild current.

"Maybe." She says, sounding doubtful, "We can surmise a few things from what we've learned so far. First, the pilots themselves are special. They seem to have been genetically modified, any impurities fixed, their lifespans extended, and their bodies honed to peak human condition. If there's anything special about them beyond that, I don't know. We also know they bond with their mecha, so there's the chance that the Berenger's mandrake would view another pilot as an intruder." She wrinkles her nose and glances away, "To be honest, I tried messing around with the Berenger and couldn't even get it to turn on. It hasn't reactivated since it was shot down. That makes it a little difficult to give you a real answer, doesn't it?"

"I'm learning a lot." You smile at her, "No matter what happens, I support you. Sure, this makes me a little nervous, but if it can save lives and win the war, I'll reserve judgment for now." You wink, "Besides, we Wedges have always had green thumbs, grandpa, dad, and I used to grow some prize-winning pumpkins back on the farm. I bet just having me around is the reason it's gotten so big."

Irina gives you the smile you've come to love. The almost lazily happy one she gets when she's being artistic, you can practically see the blueprints for new designs and systems flickering in her eyes. Love is a powerful muse, "Perhaps you've just watered the dried, cracked soil of my soul, and this baby mech is responding to it? I'm going to create masterpieces, Amos. I'm going to shape the face of the future, and it's all thanks to you. None of it would be possible without you."

You don't really need a forcefull government to be able to have that, but we'll be debating this for hours if you go this way...
My main point is, people can have safety, peace of mind, and good living conditions by associating peacefully between them... And don't need to rob/slave/assault/tax/kill peacefull others to secure this, as most forms of government implies.

Hey Wong, I had an odd thought. Are there any factions that do mass-produced Ace units?

I mean kinda like a level below SOUL but above a Pumpkinseed Ace Squad.
A squad of Ace Level Pilots that use slightly customized Mechs that cost above 140 CP but below 200 CP. Cause I can see those being super effective.

> Are there any factions that do mass-produced Ace units?

Not worth it. Because mook soldiers will barely survive longer than they were in MP mechs. And for the cost 2 officer mechs, you can build 2.8 mook mech. And in terms of firepower, quantity has a quality of its own.

You mean... Chevaliers?
http://pastebin.com/ctbJhre1
Brazilia agrees that they can do some scary damage, but don't believe that they can you can win just mass producing them.
but you know, there is many planets out there, and for this being able to happen it could be because of a shortage of pilots that would make creating a lot of mechs useless because there would be no one to pilot in a worthwhile manner(You can't throw twelve years old into a cockpit and expects that everyone of them will be ace level, most will get killed even before managing to kill a smaller mech.), so they would focus their resources on the pilots they already have, meaning more powerful mechs.
It would probaly mean Pumpkinseeds II level mechs for rookie use and Chevalier/Master Harpy for officer use, scary in a duel, not so much in a open battle when they get outnumbered.

This could also be a good background form a pilot, someone that got a new mook mech from there... And is a misterious stranger
,but more talkative than Not!Hunk obviously.
It would also be ominous to see that there is someone out there having these level of mechs as just mooks.

>>
>>897059

>>
>>897059
>>897063

Illegible scribbles and the name of his mech very clearly printed in block letters. He's on the Rhinehawk, so it's not as if he's hard to find. A lot of the applicants probably openly list their age, real name, place of birth, and contact information, but the Iron Kestrels are pirates and not everyone who's already a member of the fleet is comfortable sharing that. For example, Miles Longshadow is pretty clearly a made-up name and she doesn't talk at all about her past.
>>
>>897059

Oh, right, the missiles. Defense wins on a tie, and I'm 99% sure that crits work like this.

I've got a tenpack of rockets and launch them all, beating the target's roll by a whopping 12, let's say 30 versus 18. That would be three megacrits (+12, +11, +10), five regular crits (+9, +8, +7, +6, +5), two regular hits (+4,+3). You would roll a total of eight times on the crit tables and twice on the normal location tables.
>>
>>896917
If my computer would stop being a pain for a hour I'll have it out. For Maxwell C. Hammer(or a more fitting name if Wong has one), I'll go with the whole retired Navy pilot who runs a orphanage on one of the colonies Roarke is getting. Will probably be given his Mech to show off it's potential to the Kestrels by some engineers and scientists with a grudge. Up to Wong there.
>>
>>897080
Interesting.
>>897090
You should roll for locations for the megacrits and crits too, no? The book even goes out of the way to say that the servo hitten by a megacrit takes the damage ignoring armor, and then you roll in the crits tables.
Per example: If i get a megacrit with a missile, roll 1(Head) and then 2 on the cinematic damage table(Blunt it), the head would take full damage ignoing armor and the torso would take half the damaged of the missile(caused by sharpnel or inner systems exploding too, i guess...), no?
>>897091
I remember you writing about this, thats why i asked.
>>
>>897134
I suspect that specific sentence is worded poorly. It is previously stated that, on a crit or a megacrit, you choose which table you roll on - the standard Random Hit Chart, Special Hit Locations or Cinematic Hit Locations. So I would consider it likely that rolling "on the Random Hit Charts as normal" is intended to refer to the Hit Charts and Special Damage Tables as a whole.

This would be "normal" for a crit; otherwise, Mega-crits would be situationally worse than crits for being unable to choose which table to roll on.
>>
>>897134
Is cool and yes, the Dutchman is being worked on. It just adds the Guard loadout and makes the grenades for standard actual grenades. Allowed me to put in a little extra grenade there and lowered the cost a it for Standard too. http://pastebin.com/w5yRgXe4
>>
>>897174
Yeah, it makes sense, and also says that whatever you roll in the dramatic damage chart the related servo to this system gets half damage...Hmmm Good to know.

Also, how does parrying with a weapon work? And damage to weapons? Do they receive damaged the same way as shields, or the same way as a servo?
>>
>>897225
Same as shields but parrying is melee only. There is also a smaller defense arc for melee. While a shield could defend the other side panels of the hex aside from the back, melee parry can only really defend the front 3 sides of the hex. Can't block blasts, range, or the like. Not sure if it can block thrown weapons either.
>>
>>897231
Do they lose they ability to cause damage bit by bit? Or isit like Fragile weapons who in reality have 1K but can cause many more damage than it?
>>
>>897254
I would say like Fragile in this case. No mention of the weapon doing less damage or becoming lighter due to less kills.

>>

I think that I understand what the problem is. If I could ask you a favor, would you screen cap a properly formatted mech from the rogue's gallery? I've been posting from mobile devices due to my work schedule, and all that stuff tends to get lost in translation from computer to tablet.
>>
>>897643
Also, Design and Decor is almost comically overpowered when mounted on the Knuckle Kaiser. +3 to intimidation attempts and Seduction rolls while inside your mech for 2 CP? Yes please.
>>
>>897757
Cool doesn't get the respect it deserves compared to other stats when it comes to Mech combat. It can also be used in a few creative ways. The Walkures fancy color frame to the Dutchman more intimidating, but refined look thanks to constant small detail all over the body. A bunch of small touches that bring out the best look to the Dutchman.

Alright, looking at it you are forgetting to put in the hands for the costs, space efficiency for your weapons and shield, and a few other things. Before I even calculated the modifier it was in the 137 range. Not sure if weight inefficiency is ok either.
>>
>>899465
You are clearly messed up. That's all in there.
>>
>>899610
Don't think I am. When you did the servos, the total costs for them were low compared to other medium strikers with similar armor. By 4 CP and 1 ton. That was by the initial part. Your weapons and armor are also missing their space efficiency by what I read since you have the weapons, buy no changes. Quick doubles a weapons cost and a 8 kill beam weapon is 8 CP. Then there is the 21 CP active shield which should have 10.5 spaces, but no mention of space efficiency.
>>
>>899654
>Quick doubles a weapons cost and a 8 kill beam weapon is 8 CP.
And heavy strikers have a bonus of +1 to their melee attacks. Its a 7 kill weapon costing 14 cp, with 2 cp of space efficiency to make it 10 spaces. Similar story for the shield. You are simply misreading the stat block.
>>
>>899784
Still does not answer the hand issue and not including the Space Efficiency or the original weapon kills can make things hard to tell. Incidentally, your active shield is too big. You can hold a shield a class above the servo attached to it, but not as high as yours. You would have a 9 at most, not a 12. Look under class in the advance manual.

Actually, it raises a question; How will the tournament brackets be designed? Putting the one hit killers amongst the grunts and non melee specialists seems like it'd make the fights rather uninteresting due to the nature of their combat. Should they be put in a heavy weight bracket while the grunts duke it out?
>>
>>901704
We could do an elimination round where all the jobbers are gotten rid of and then draw lots for the tourney bracket
>>
>>901740
Well, the elimination round was a given considering it would be more than the machines we submitted, but Random doesn't really work for this. We have a few insanely dangerous, but completely situational machines that are practically designed for arena and 1 on 1 combat only. Then we have the all rounders, the grunts and the like who came to get their name known and put into mass production. When you do it randomly, it's more likely those super specialists will end up with the all rounders so we don't even get a chance to see what they can do before getting one shotted.

No... It costs 13.6CP, Spaces 6.

>>
>>901818
Well, in their case they would be in the specialist category or might not even survive the elimination round. Besides, that scenario IS pretty funny in of itself.
>>
>>901788
>I think the Valkyrie is pretty much your antithesis BR. Even with your missiles, the active shield and shadow images are going to make it impossible for you to land a hit that can damage it.
Yeah, the Valkyrie has a layered defense that makes it damn hard to kill. First, it has 5 smoke missiles that can screen its approach against ranged Mecha, and potentially allow it to "refresh" its shadows depending on how Wong rules. Second, it has the Skill of its pilot. Third, it has the Shadow Imager itself, which Kathrine will have a +4 advantage to tricking opposing pilots. Fourth, it has the Active Shield, backed by heavy armor to cut down on bleed-through damage.
>>
>>902022
Pretty much. The machine is pretty much an anti thesis to anything that isn't Blast and One hit one kill. The weapon is strong enough to wreck a mech in two blows and it has quick. The shield and armor combo makes it pretty hard to kill for the one hit that gets through because the other two have a chance to be blocked by those shadow images. Anything not a specialist would be unable to beat it.
>>
>>902101
Its ranged weaponry is really limited though. A transforming mecha might be able to kite it.
But yeah, its designed to survive at least one full attack melee routine by virtually any mecha in its weight class, and counter with crippling damage next round.
>>
>>902133
Even a flight type would have issue since it requires build up and comes with big MV penalties. This is part of the reason why keeping the specialist in a bracket til the finals would be good. They are designed for this sort of thing and would provide actual entertainment and fights that are more than one rounds. Mind you, while it is a good machine, it is not one I can see being used in groups.
>>
>>902152
>Mind you, while it is a good machine, it is not one I can see being used in groups.
I'd probably give it a more standard weapons loadout in a mass produced version. Lighten its shield a bit, Shift to a lighter EMW and a ranged option.
>>
>>902179
Not exactly what I meant. Like I said, your machine is weak to Blast(and probably burst/spread weapons too). Get a bunch close and have some other group with some basic blast grenades and you lose your imager and have good chances of losing sensors, your mounted shields, or your weapons. In a solo or near solo situation it would be great because each enemy can fight you one at a time, but this is the sort of machine that would have trouble with weapons designed to hit groups.

Hmm... Idk how shadow images work, but i assume that everytime you got hit you roll for a image getting hit instead, right?
If i'm remembering rosita's fight well, wong ruled that the images dissapeared after getting hit, so idk if you can recover them after a cloud of smoke....

In fact, a fight between it and the Walkure would really be a feast for the eyes of odin, normally, combats with the walkure tend to be short because of its missiles or punch strategy...
But i guess that the missiles from her "sister" would make Akai to be carefull and skit it with her higher MA, but if she doesn't get down in the missile spam or a lucky "TIRO FINALE" they are coming to blows in deadly melee... Thats is also probably going to be opened by dropkick.

I can already imagine all the norse-pagans of auditorium making a big "feast of the gods" in the middle of the audience for this fight "PRAISING!" ever higher everytime they land a hit in each other...
>>
>>901829
Also, we could do a one shot about it, with everyone making a improvised pilot and choosing a harpy weapon outfit... It would be bizzarely funny, would let us explore a bit the storm dragons(who get little attention since the greenskulls arc) and wouldn't take even a whole thread probably...

>Also, i cannot imagine the sort of bizzare arguments you guys would come up to convince each other to decloak...
>>
>>902225
I think it wouldn't be as glorious as you think it would be. MA does not come into affect when trying to hit the real image and missiles in the volley all hit the shield if it parries. You'd weaken the shield by a lot, but no real damage. And once it's melee, she's got you.
>>
>>902214
>>902225
While it may make logical sense, and very easily be houseruled so, by default, Shadows do not mechanically take up any space on the battlefield, instead being a property of the mech which deploys them (Balloon-type Shadows aside).

How they mechanically work is that, when a mech with Shadows deployed (for free on its own turn or in place of a Parry) is successfully hit, it and its attacker must make an additional contested roll (of 1d10+INT+other skills and miscellaneous modifiers).

If the attacker's roll is higher, the attacker choose to land the hit on either a single deployed Shadow (thus rendering it ineffective against that attacker only) or the actual defending mech (resolving damage as normal). If the rolls are equal, or the defender's roll is higher, no hit is scored.

There is no mention of Shadows being separately-targettable units of their own.

Yes, Shadow Imagers are kind of bullshit.
>>
>>902288
Not exactly. It is true they do not take up spaces, but they are not solid shields either. When it comes to AOEs, they would have no real defense since, like you said, they are all in one space. If a blast or a ton of shrapnel head into that hex, you will get hit by it if you can't dodge or block and because of their nature, they act would show where the real one is. Wong did mention that it is one of the few ways to counter the Archen and it also makes sense logically. After all, how can a blast decide which is which when it hits all things in the radius equally? But yes, Shadow Imagers are pretty rediculous and one of the few modifiers that remain effective no matter the CP.
>>
>>902214
>Get a bunch close and have some other group with some basic blast grenades
Blast weapons are pretty rare in this setting. I wouldn't count it out entirely.

>>902225
>If i'm remembering rosita's fight well, wong ruled that the images dissapeared after getting hit, so idk if you can recover them after a cloud of smoke....
Here is the relevant blurb from the fight:
>Despite the long gouge, you jump her in a blur of motion, your weapons hissing. You strike two of the Archens clearly, and as your beam sabers pass through your ASP tags those images with a translucent filter to remind you that they're holograms. At least two of them will no longer be distractions.
In theory, breaking line of sight should allow the images to "refresh" but again, Wong can rule otherwise
>>
>>902273
Each turns would take 10 seconds, so all the skitting would let me play my music for a longer time... what is good.
Do the shield really blocks everything? It looks to me more that they block the first missile on a spam, as they are different "Hits", but i could open with 「TIRO FINALE」let the shield get it, and then missile spam her... And then it becomes a matter of luck as depending on how many hit and were they hit... it could mean the end of the fight for either of us.
There is still a crazy chance that the Walkure could dodge one turn of melee attacks (Or at least dodge the first one, get the second on the torso and parry the other two with different arms), but that depends on the dice.
>>
>>902331
This is true, and can very understandably be houseruled so. As with many items in the ATM, Shadow Imagers don't quite make logical sense.

Why does a successful hit render the Shadow ineffective for only the attacker rather than everyone in the area?

Why are Shadows not explicitly stated to be targettable?

The default rules often require tweaking (or straight-out banning) during actual play, but I figured that, in the absence of an official houserule, we may as well be aware of them.
>>
>>902376
Actually, since you lack a backup sensor, I would almost certainly go straight for your head, which I can one hit kill.
>>
>>902409
Makes sense, isn't it a little metagaming? But it doesn't matter much as taking a head normally implyes -2MV on the now headless mech, which gives you a good reason to do it.
You would stil have to it, though, and our roll difference is only 1 point, so i could possible escape a hit or two from you.
>>
>>902409
a) Your pilot wouldn't actually know that, since your machine doesn't have a Target Analyzer, and therefore you should not make decisions based on OOC knowledge of the internal layout of his machine.

b) His Main Sensors don't seem to actually be mounted in his head.
>>
>>902376
Thats not exactly true. When you parry a action you parry the entire action. So if I have a burst weapon, managed to get three hits due to dodge difference but you block it, your shield gets 3 hits and lose 3 SP. Same applies to missiles. The fact she has shadow imagers means that your first hit might not be aimed at her so she would still have her active shield.
>>
>>902448
>a) Your pilot wouldn't actually know that, since your machine doesn't have a Target Analyzer, and therefore you should not make decisions based on OOC knowledge of the internal layout of his machine.
Going for the sensors or weapons is a pretty standard tactic for my machine, since it can 1 shot limbs but not the torso if they are either mounting 5 or more armor or a frame heavier than a Medium Striker.
>b) His Main Sensors don't seem to actually be mounted in his head.
Fair point. In that case though he takes a -2 to awareness rolls, such as those needed to see through smoke or determine which are shadows.

>>
>>902503
You would have to win 5 rolls, two of which are unrelated to aiming to hit her and she needs two hits to destroy your machine. It is a very big gap and even then hitting doesn't mean all the missiles hit. If the margin was small only a few number of them would hit.
>>
>>902498
>>902503
Whoops.

Well, acting in-character compels him now to make attacks against your head regardless of whether you have sensors in them.

Also, I hate to bring this up at this point, but isn't the penalty to not having Sensors in your Head -2 to Awareness, not all rolls? Yes, not having Sensors period gives a -4 penalties to all combat actions, but that penalty doesn't apply so long as you have Backup Sensors.
>>
>>902344
Blast is rare due to the fact that it's a situational weapon. It's a one shot sort of thing and compared to beam weapons with infinite ammo and blast doesn't do high damage. But when it becomes a situation where they become viable, they'd be a lot more common. Same with missiles and scatter bombs. When startegies change, certain things become more useful.
>>902532
Been the case for a while and it makes some sense since back-up sensors aren't exactly fancy things.
>>
>>902532
>Well, acting in-character compels him now to make attacks against your head regardless of whether you have sensors in them.
I could also go after the torso mounted weapons. It would probably depend on the situation.

I believe backup sensors' intended penalty is that they're shitty and have basically no range, meaning you can't use beam or projectile weapons effectively.

It's only something that just struck me as out of place.

Well, I would like to see more interesting fights instead of one siders, so there may be a way to do it. Have the elimination rounds serve as a sort of grand melee with the machines going at it. High destruction points will guarantee you, but those who are pretty high in term of kills will be placed with others that placed relatively high.
So in terms of power and nature, things like Huscarl and Valkyrie would have a high death ratio while machines like the Dutchman, Walkure, Myrm, and Libra would be lower. Hell, it could even lead to team ups so the grunts work together to secure their spots.

Please, i know you're laughing already, but check these dubs:
In their most primal form... Gods are just this, memes, and get attention or credibility as more people starts believing them as serious... In the midst of so many of non-compatible forms of religion and being exposed to old terran culture about "home-dweller sages" that purify every concept to their most essencial forms and categorize every characters as faces and fusions of "divine" aspects of storytelling that figures in life itself(as art is an imitation of life)... Whats more to believe?

I think Roarke is sorta meh on religion. Which is understandable considering his roots. He might play lip service to the various gods, but he's most definetly not religious in of himself.

>>
>>904591
Depends on the situation honestly. Sometimes it would be better to hit the head, sometimes it is not. Same with any sort of battle. Going for the wings or legs may be a good idea to cripple a melee unit and then leave him for mop up by the range squad or simply taking a limb off someone who two hands a weapon.

For the Walkure I'd probably go for the head or wings as part of the hand to hand spectacle. Myrm depends, but for the more rediculous, one hit kill machines, it's going straight for the threat removal. Going for the head or anything else isn't safe when a single hit loses the match.

..Floating land mines? Thats actually pretty scary.
>>
>>906042

>>
>>906042
This reminds me of something... If i have Fuse-Blast missiles, do i even need to hit someone? Couldn't i just wait for the missile be in the same "hex" and exlode it?Causing sharpnel damage to everyone in that hex?

Also, how much do we know of our enemies from the tourney? Because if we are going to use missiles and everything in the initial battles, the other contestants will know about it.
>>
>>906058
>>906070
Looks like this is a mix between a mine and a sticky bomb. The accuracy is not only to hit, but to 'stick' to the enemy when they try to remove it. So you can have fun scenarios where Amos puts a pile of sticky bombs on a paladin(three on the power plant somehow) and he's holding the button asking them to surrender.
>>
>>905526
So he has a Medium weight with a Active shield on the other arm? This is looking better than expected... Is his armor Light Weight?
>>
>>906082
Man... This is a normal missile, not a mine, mines have Range 0, but maybe the stick part could happen.
>>
>>906082
How do you work out the weight of a missile again?
>>
>>906086
That is sort of the use of a fuse weapon. It only explodes when you want it to. So in theory you could fire them into the ground as a proximity or remote mine and go GoldenEye versus mode on them.
>>
>>906090
Well like most weapons missile packs have kills and that kill count is their total ammount of kills divided by 12. So if I have a 4 pack of 6 kill missiles, it's 2 kills and thus 1 ton.
>>
>>906091
Hm... I'm thinking that if the Valkyre is going to show her shadow imagers in initial rounds... It would make sense that the Storm Dragons would plan a strategy against it.

But i don't know about how the blast/fuse combo would work in this way, wouldn't it be too OP if you can just explode it into the hex and the opponet can't dodge?(Because that is what Blast does) And then the shadow imagers are tagged as result? Seems too easy to be true.
>>
>>906103
In fact, its total kills divided by 15, so 10x6K would result in 4 Structural Kills and 2 tons.
>>
>>906106
That is sort of the point of blast though. It's duty is to hit everything in a hex. It's less OP and more a counter to such things like 'MV 0 Active shield using speedster with 10 shadow images'. It's not really a damage dealing weapon either since even if it's 20 kills, the blast spreads it to four areas of five.
>>906110
So it is, must have got caught on that 1 missile with 12 kills.
>>
>>906127
But...Dutch-senpai, wouldn't it cause Fuse missiles to be unavoidable? And you could only parry them with a DA0 Shield... Man, This is too OP there must be more to it... Can someone roll dodge to get out of the hex? This don't make much sense too but...
Is Wong here? Can Anyone explain to me how fuse-blast missiles work? Can you just explode the hex your opponent is in if he is on range?
>>
>>906427
DA 0 shields aren't expensive though and what I would consider a good idea anyways. Even if the fuse makes it 'unavoidable' thats the same with standard mines, grenades or the like if you don't have a DA 0 shield. And even with the blast, that is still 5 kills of damage to each area which for most machines here is only enough to dent the armor or get lucky with the table. It is not a op weapon and for all intent and purpose is much less a threat than those who can guarantee a kill with their weapon and one hit. So no, fuse does not give you a unavoidable 20 kills of damage to one spot if thats what you are thinking, because thats not how blast works.

>>
>>907066
A DA 0 10 SP shield would handle the issue, and even then you still need to aim and hit the area. Hitting a specific hex requires a difficulty challenge that rises the further it goes. If you fail to hit the roll required, it deviates by 1 hex. When you fire a LOT of blast things at once, each roll is one less than the last. So you firing all those missiles will likely hit every thing that isn't the target. Especially with that high range and low accuracy. By the way, even if the attacks miss and can be remote detonated, you can still fly above the fallen missiles.
>>
>>907122
Let me see that.
>>907120
Hm... Maybe not, it seems that it may not work exactly well if the missiles are'nt exactly aimed at you.
>>907078

http://pastebin.com/pZtRmbWS
I thought that i could at least make one of you reeee at my very bad sleeply jokes.
>>
>>907261
Doesn't bug me any. But yes, missiles tend to follow that rule. Just passing the roll doesn't help you much since you will get a fraction of them. To safely get them all if you fired 10, you would need 10 above the required roll. Incidentally, you can't 'crit' with the blast of a weapon.
>>
And because it is late and my mind will not let me sleep, here is a simple idea for some upgrade bundles.
KAISER SABOT: Legs upgraded to light heavy, and given clumsy 1 kill, but +2 WA 'feet'. Add a cross-link with the feet for double kicking power all for the cost of 10 CP. 14 to keep the weight the same.
KAISER'S COMPOSURE: Grin like the kaiser, Scowl like the Kaiser, SCREAM like the Kaiser! Upgrade the head 1 size and add some weight loss and that +3 cool upgrade. All for the cool price of 4 Cp!
Enchanced Efficiency and Thruster Array: Chip some spaces here and there to make space for more thrusters. Slims the Cockpit ball, back-up sensors, and Grappling Hook to 1, and the Active shield to 2, then fills the gaps with MORE THRUST. So, 3 CP for the efficiency, and 6 for the thrusters. Nice to have if speed dips from other upgrades.
KAISER AURA: Make the torso a size bigger and stuff that reactive shield in. Costs depends on what we have to work with. Could cut costs by making it ranged only, and increase it by improving the refresh time.
>>
>>905932

In theory any of the stealth options the S-Betta have would be available to Kestrels or people who've been associating with them.

>>906427

You make an attack roll at a set TN for indirect fire like that, and there's always DA 0 shields, on top of which burst missiles divide their damage up in a way that makes them unlikely to quickly ice other ace mecha. Don't get me wrong, it's a powerful combo, but a lot of weapon trait combinations are powerful together.
>>
Welp, Libra anon here, I just realizes that I had made a huge mistake regarding the Small Shield.

For some reason I assumed it was 6 CP instead of 7.5, so my mech is actually over the 140 CP limit in most of the configurations. The two ways I've come up to fix this issue is to either make the CROWE two handed, which would leave it vulnerable to attacks while it's shooting but free up exactly 1.5 CP from the refunded space effeciency, or downgrade the shield to 5 SP, which would make it cost 6.25 CP with -1 DA.

Also, I figure I should ask this now, but is there a weight limit to how much your arm servos can carry in regards to weapons?
>>
>>908430
The manual actually has the lifting capacity for servos on page 117. For a regular medium striker its 20 tons.

>>
>>908700
>http://pastebin.com/LkDJjdpF
I would love to know this too... For reasons.
>Reasons involving Shinobi Harpies
>>
>>908700
For building Additive Systems (whose costs are added to your mech's total), modifiers are multiplicative.

So, a weapon with a x0.5 modifier and a x0.6 modifier (for instance, a Melee Weapon with Clumsy and WA -2) would cost x0.30 times of its base value, not x1.1.

For Cost Multiplier Systems (which have a multiplicative effect on your mech's total), modifiers are listed in such a way that they add to the base x1.0 cost of your entire mech.

If you have two Cost Multiplier Systems with a x0.5 and x0.6 modifier (for instance, 10 Shadows and +6 MV Verniers), your Mech would cost 1.0[base]+0.5[Shadows]+0.6[Verniers] = x2.1 times of its base cost.

Note that some Cost Multiplier Systems may have additional modifiers within themselves, such as Balloon-based Images. These multiplicative within the System; a 10 Shadow Balloon-based Imager applies a x0.35 modifier as compared to the x0.5 of a standard Holographic one.

Thank you that cleared up my question
>>
>>908834
I did the best I could without actually using any Cloaking, since I didn't think it would be readily available at the time. It was a while back.
>>
>>907261

It's actually more complicated than that. Blast just determines how big the AOE is, damage goes up to 5K (I think), then starts counting up on a second hit until 5K, then a third hit, and so on, so a 20K burst missile would do 5K to four separately rolled locations UNLESS you deliberately chose to attack the target instead of their hex (McAllister did this), and then the surrounding targets would still have divided damage.
>>
>>908890
Thats okay anon, i know you couldn't have know this at that time.
I'm thinking on doing a transformative active cloak harpy with a hikkikomori pilot who just get out of his cockpit when it matters for his survival(like getting food or exercice) and made his whole mech around this concept... Lets see how this goes.
>>
>>909112
Consider that Active Cloaking and Fighter Form already add an additional x0.6 on your total cost, which means you have an effective base of 87.5 CP to work with for frame and systems to meet 140 CP final cost.

Lightweight frame and Superlight or Lightweight Armor take 30 or 38 CP respectively, and miscellaneous systems like your Cockpit and Sensors will take about 10 CP. Thrusters will also take about 10 CP if you want to go fast untransformed.

So you've got about another 25-35 CP to work with for offensive and defensive systems - bearing in mind that Active Cloak doesn't hide you once you fire or when you close into melee.
>>
>>909169
Thats usually a fair amount for a mook of that class though. If you go standard melee it's not expensive and missiles/bombs are also cheap if you need something big. Shinobi Harpies are what I see serve as the Kestrel's sapper/ambush squad. Surprise round of attacks, blow up a important spot, then flee.
>>
>>909231
Also, the concept of this one will be "a mech to live inside" with a lesser ace taking it ease and leading mooks as if he was one of them.
I'm thinking of making it an all rounder too.
>"Himitsu-san, what you just did was so SUGOI-desu! I can't belive that you won against a pumpkinseed in one on one using just a custom harpy!"
>"Uhhhh,errr...I-its was luck, i guess, y-you know, when you pilot these things for time enough this things happen sometime y-you know?H-hahaha-ha...Ha...Ha..." says the lesser ace.

So what did you guys think of Amos' new missiles? He'll still have at least one of the original Heavy Missiles for emergency use, it has a bit more range (twice as much, actually, Heavy Missiles are situationally great) and damage at the cost of a point of WA and the Fuse effect.

Incidentally, a bit about Jovian history, just while I'm thinking about it.

The Jovian colonies were originally formed by a bunch of megawealthy neolibertarians who got rich off asteroid mining and went "REEEE EARTH REGULATIONS REEEEE TAXES REEEEE ROADS." And went full Galt's Gulch in Space around the time of the Nuclear Conflict. They had a tiny population up until Earth became uninhabitable, but then it snowballed with the influx of Terran colonists escaping the radiation and not wanting to live in squalor on Venus, which was at the time still being terraformed and wasn't yet a beautiful vacation planet with moss clouds and floating cities. Those who could afford the much more expensive ticket and long, long flight to Jupiter generally did, although it was incredibly dangerous in those days even before the pirate gangs of this era. There were also masses of people who literally went into debt-slavery to afford it (because there were no laws against doing that in space), which would much later provide some precedent for what was done to the Qu'liri, even down to genemodding them. Things went about as well as you would expect, descending into anarchy over the decades as mankind developed gate technology, explored the stars, created the Green Men, perfected terraforming, and established the CUSS. It was a slow slide, but it led into a deep pit, and as Jupiter's population boomed its culture decayed, and it went from an irrelevant but wealthy bloc of colonies to a sprawling colony-based civilization full of poverty, crime, madness, and civil war, known for the insane depravities at the highest levels and the insane deprivation at the lowest levels. It would have stayed a spaceborne ghetto with a few besieged colonies of ivory towers forever, had it not been for the so-called Decimus Reforms, spearheaded by the leader of an alliance of powerful corporations and PMCs. Ronald Decimus Pale was regarded as an eccentric, but his enthusiasm for the ideals of ancient Rome and his worship of the Greco-Roman pantheon (under predominantly Roman names) caught on when he restored order, ended intra-colony squabbling, put down the Ganymede Rebellion, uprooted the Enhanced Workers' Front, founded the UJCIDF to replace the previous colonial armies, and became the first Planetary Chairman, supported by the Citizens' Board of Directors and the Senate. He served for ten years and then retired, never involving himself with politics ever again.

It's a great strategic tool for tactics, capturing aces, and generally eating away actions of the enemy. Not a bad weapon for Amos and will see plenty of use. Could theoretically turn that one heavy missile AP for that little extra 'fuck that thing in particular' if possible, but up to you.

Nice bit of background n Jupiter and explains a few things. Nice to have some more background on things. Incidentally, I have a little something in mind to discuss not so much as what happened, but the general state of affairs and situation that we know from the factions.

Incidentally, to expand on Pale being an eccentric slightly further, initially “Praise Jove!” in English or Latin was something his supporters would repeat with kind of tongue-in-cheek fondness, a nice remembrance of what was a very old man by the end of his political career. It caught on gradually and informally, and eventually legitimate clergy and temples started popping up like mushrooms on a rain-soaked log. What's nonsense a century ago might be tradition today, or vice versa.

The standard UJCIDF uniform is a set of plain, dark green fatigues. However, noncommissioned officers get a more fancy version with white trousers and a dark green top. Corporals get a thunderbolt pin on each side of their collar, sergeants get two on each side. There are small gradations that you generally don't see in SOUL that get represented with slightly more or less trim on the uniforms, MPs are a good example. Generally it's something small like a patch on the arm representing that you're an MP or a mechanic or something similar, but with MPs you usually tell by their armor and for mechanics you can tell when someone's a bloody mechanic.

Commissioned Officers start off with Ensigns wearing a double-breasted cyan shirt with brass buttons, white trousers, and black boots of a different style than an NCO's. Lieutenants have the same, except all in white with silver buttons and a number of silver arrows on their collar denoting degree. The concept of rank among, say, different Generals hasn't come up much yet, but in part that's because SOUL personnel are automatically at the highest degree for their rank. Post-Promotion Amos would outrank Pre-Promotion Asphodel, for example. This ranges between one and three. Ensigns get brass stars that serve the same purpose, but they start out with zero and go up to two. Captains have a very similar uniform to Lieutenants, but with gold in place of silver, along with a small hat. Captain Matthias Clearwater never wears his hat, and has had his shirt unbuttoned as long as Amos has known him. General Fairchild, back in her Captain days, kept it perpetually crisp and precise and chose a sort of tiara with two prongs that her PC could hook into to become a headset, a practice she's kept to to this day even though it isn't standard uniform. The upper ranks are a bit more complicated, because they allow for more customization, but I'll write more about them in a later thread.

It's nothing to fancy, setting up the field, looking at the factions, their resources, decisions, pilot stats, and general tech from what I have seen.
Speaking of; THE MAP
From what you've told us, we got the solar system, Avalon, and a good number of planets that have human life and importance in the war. The Solar system have a large ammount of human resources(by basically being the origin point, even after the wars ate 2/3rds of humanity) while Avalon had a lot of natural resources to make their machines. If I were to go by a Ghiren's greed map, Avalon would be in Zeon's position(red) and the Navy fittingly on Earth in Blue. They have an out of Sol Presence, but the size I am not sure of(other than it's military presence has quite a few Wels). In the scheme of things, Roarke would be in Jaburo and thus a gods damned pain to remove for everyone involved.

Now mind you, there is some things that won't fit. Earth itself doesn't provide troops, but does help with tech and the like so would be neutral, and Mars has a odd tie with Jove as can be seen in.. Factions!
UJCIDF: 'Led' by Fairchild, they got a few things going for them and a lot not. Low on aces, starting machines are weak compared to Avalon's, but their numbers can mean throwing tons of them with impunity. They also have a good technology growth, plenty of rookies that can grow fast, and plenty of production. They aren't tied down by the Green Lady for their Ace machine construction either so that could be an advantage. They have Mars too, but thats a tie due to their shared dislike of Avalon and if Fairchild messed up, they could split. As is, Fairchild feels like she is neutral leaning towards chaos but not going full chaos just yet. Chaos and Law basically being the Ghiren Greed alignment. Tax people, fire nukes, invade places, and generally be space hitler, you become Chaos. Don't and you start to go law. Reason why she isn't flat out Space Hitler is because she at least hides it.. mostly.

Avalon: Hoo boy. Different situation to the Navy. They got the money, good aces, and skilled pilots, but not many pilots and their suit production is low. Their aces are practically fully developed and as we seen recently with Hector, do not see eye to eye. That could lead to issues like 'not helping an ally because that guy is a dick and deserves it' or other fun things that could rival Zabi shenanigans. It also means that their commanders are also constantly on the battlefield and losing one can really hurt the command structure. I'd say Avalon might hurt in tech once the Navy catches up, but they also seem to be leaning Law. Though thats because we haven't seen their bullshit just yet.
The Belt: Then we have THESE guys! Plenty of Aces with Roarke being a strong contender to a Paladin, a good number of rookies who grow fast, good ace machines, and economy that leeches off those who deal with them. Though, considering their size, they would be more like an event than a proper faction. Probably akin to the White Base event chain into how it can screw things over for those involved in it. It's no where near the same size to the other two, but the aces and their machines make it a nasty thorn when you add in the nature of the belt. Makes sense that Fairchild would want to remove them. As is, Roarke is more heavy law than Avalon. Yes we loot and pillage, but we also tend to put down bullshit like the green skulls and not use their sort of crap.

The mob simply going full pirate and conquering the fiefs of the ruling families was a real risk back then, enough of them supported the Decimus reforms to keep their traditions alive. Many DO own private colonies, but...libertarians and monarchists are very different, you don't see the "ruling families" you do on Mars so much as the directorships of major corporations and independently wealthy individuals.

The Enhanced Workers' Front and the terrorism it perpetrated led to a fair amount of anti-genemod sentiment on Jupiter that wasn't present on most other planets prior to the War. Particularly Mars. Jupiter is a gas giant and a colony culture, they didn't particularly want to rely on the increasingly influential and powerful Green Men the way everyone else was doing. No genocides, but genemods became more or less illegal on Jupiter for a long time. Ironically, many of them went to the Moon, the RCC was at the time extremely weak (and brands of protestantism spanning more than one colony virtually nonexistent, although it caused at least one civil war on an extrasolar planet) but its current pope was one of the few galactic leaders that wasn't bound by CUSS policies or Jupiter or Mars and viewed it as a biblical act to welcome them into the Church.

>robot waifus

AI is highly regulated, no one wants another NaNa-01

>Of how many colonies are we speaking of?No need to the exactly number if you don't want to reveal that, but are we speaking about 3-6 colonies?Or 12-50?

Hundreds, but keep in mind colony size varies wildly. One built to support a few hunded workers on an asteroid mine is a fraction the size of a leviathan like Auditorium which supports a large city and an entire artificial lake. A lot of Jupiter's income also comes from building colonies and using their gate to place them at their destination.

>About the other jovian planets... Do they count as part of the UJCIDF jurisdiction? Or do they have their own things going on for them?

They provide levies to the UJCIDF, but also have their own colony forces for law enforcement and self defense.

Pretty much, but that changes a bit when you look at MACHINES AND PILOTS.
In terms of machines, the UJCIDF would be more akin to Zeon. Lots of variety, strong machines, and dead ends due to power struggles and shenanigans. They aren't strong aside from the aces, but they can be belted out and are strong enough. Their pilot situation is also a mixed bag. You have Sam and Pierre to start, seasoned and simple aces with some specialty, Fairchild who is a charisma and leadership monster, Clemmy and First Mate for melee monsters, and the SOUL rookies who grow fast and strong.. except for Jesus who makes me think of a trap pilot. Looks promising, but isn't.
Avalon's issue is they got a lot of Ace customs and not a lot of anything else. Paladins are major investments of time and resources and one destroyed Paladin strider will likely take a month to remake. Mind you their regenerative nature makes replacement parts more of a non issue so there is that. Again, with their ace units being their commanders, the major pilots for Avalon are a mix of both and then some thanks to the gene mods. They also seem to be more focused than some of the SOUL pilots. Pierre can do a mix of things while Lori is melee. This can also lead to issues, and if the enemy keeps growing, they lose their advantage since as is, they seem as good as they can get.
The Belt: Whooo boy. How to explain Roarke; In game terms, Roarke was already developed for a fighter. His stats for combat were crazy. Now though, he's filling up leadership, charisma, and general knowledge as well as polishing his personal skills. Oda is pretty good, and the wives in general can be a threat. Moe himself is becoming a strong fighter too and is learning a bit of everything and being so close together means the aces are put to better use and aren't spread thin.

>Do any ancap "free territories" still exist in the solar system?I can imagine some smal personal fiefdoms existing in far and almost irrelevant places as some megawealthy guys go be excentric millionaires in near isolation... Or you their "Private spaces" to hide shady things to other powers to garantee their eternal financial well-being and personal freedom by allying with the powerful and rich classes of solar governs.

Probably, space is tremendous and a lot of stuff was just flat-out...lost when the CUSS fell. The SSL isn't so much a successor to CUSS, as it is a much smaller civilization trying to fill the power gap left by a giant.

>How much does people know about other planets?I mean, quliri slaves must be a kind of urban myth at worse case or an old scaldan in terms of notoriety in the better one, and people probably know about jergal... But what about other systems?

Vague rumors unless the planet is famous for something, but yes people know about what was happening with events like that. The CUSS doesn't get a free pass from modern scholars. The problem isn't that there isn't much information, it's that there's so much that sifting out truth from bullshit is hard.

>Mars wasn't islamic before the war, and many people probably escaped from there before the sporing and madness took place... What happened to those people?I know that they probably went to diferent ways, but is there some "martian refugee" ghetto out there?

They died. They died by the thousands and the millions. They died when the Hakimite artillery turned their cities to ash and rubble. They died when the UJCIDF lined up dozens of battleships and shot down their escaping ships. They died to swords, knives, machetes, axes, guns of every possible descriptor. Some were torn apart or strangled. Some were run over by tanks. Some were rebuilt as living biocomputers into the cores of subordinate bio-armors designed to safeguard their masters. See, the problem is that you're making an assumption, that many people escaped before the sporing. The sporing had been going on for so long that anyone who had got out before then had had descendants that probably no longer thought of themselves as Martian. The only people who happened to be living far enough away from the cities to avoid sporing were the Muslim traditionalist minority.

>Is meme magic dead? Or is Akai right and EVERYTHING is meme magic?

Without touching on who's more like which faction, I feel like the EF comparison is helpful for understanding the CUSS. The EF after the One Year Was, much like the CUSS, had no control over its far-flung provinces and was riddled with incredible amounts of corruption. "Selling off the citizens of your own planet with involuntary genemods that can be passed on and will breed true for enough money to build another palace" levels of corruption.

No, i really just made this up when thinking:
"It would be cool if more mutants show up for the toruney...Hmm... I could give some crazy ideas to Wong, but i have no idea of what else exists on this plan excepting "everyouth" and "neko"... Wait, didn't he said something about futas that time when i asked him about it? What about a futa pilot? Meh, what difference would it even make?...Well, it could have something to do with her motivation for getting the prize, i mean, what if she had some reason to get rid of one of her parts and needed the money to do it?Hmm... This is sounding too much degenerate/SJW/leftists views on gender to me... But i could be wrong as it is a result from direct human intervention on genetic code... But what sort of background would make someone even care about this on the "Space Madness Future"?Well, she could be a traditional christian from Luna and be going nuts with all of this hermafrodite thing... Hahahaha, not a bad idea now! And it would make all the space madness even stronger if other people get involved with her problems! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!Man, Wong would never listen to this, "Genemoded descendants on Luna" hahahaha, what am i thinking?Right?"

And then you:
>Ironically, many of them went to the Moon, the RCC was at the time extremely weak (and brands of protestantism spanning more than one colony virtually nonexistent, although it caused at least one civil war on an extrasolar planet) but its current pope was one of the few galactic leaders that wasn't bound by CUSS policies or Jupiter or Mars and viewed it as a biblical act to welcome them into the Church.

Paley's World. It's a beautiful, oceanic planet known for its complex multilunar tides and currents, its underwater and island cities, and the the way its oceans glow at night with bioluminescent krill and equally bioluminescent whales. In my mind it's a truly beautiful place, as dangerous as it is, but there's simply no reason to go there for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your second question, I'd need to think on it, there are a of of them. I told you that most ace mecha have multiple simple AI systems that keep them working, right? i never said a nun, even if i admit that it passed through my head, because i thought that it would be too much weight on the emotional of the poor girl... But it would make sense.

Nah, she could probably just be a normal girl from a relatively conservative family that is very ashamed of the situation and don't know on how to deal with it, that would go to the tourney against her parents will to end this situation.

But then she gets in auditorium and is exposed to all space madness that test her faith daily... Or even worse, she gets to know smug protestants who tries to outsmart her in theological debates to laugh at her squirming to reply.

It could get even more funny if she compaints about her "stupid degenerate great-grandfather" everytime she is reminded of the situation.

>>912142
Anywho, last bit of set up is the Events and Situation as it were.

Now, we know the basis of the big stuff. Trying to deal with the belt, Fairchild loses aces, ace machines, and general resources in her equivalent of 'White Base Mode' when it came to Roarke while Avalon loses 1 Paladin with roarke and another from trying to go after the president's son and getting a Wedge driven into their efforts. The smaller events so far are also important though. Jove has a lot of projects strewn about, including old ones and new ones. Neverland, the Psyche 16 experiments, Project Skywalker, and the constant propaganda commercials to drum up tons of support. It does have results with SOUL and it's pilots, but also costs. Psyche 16 cost her a captain, a ship and entire SOUL team, but it gave her a major propaganda piece, weakens Avalon in the solar system, and makes a potential threat have to think twice about attacking her since his forces have been split.
Avalon so far seems a bit more in lined with the Zabi shenanigan situation. The Paladins don't see eye to eye and a commander would have to deal with those sort of things. Imagine if Lori didn't try to leave on her own or stuck to Psyche with her cousin's men? Imagine if the Duchess worked more closely with the other Paladin while on the Planet of the Cats. Small feuds can cause big problems, but we will have to see how it pans out in the future. For them, Amos Wedge and SOUL C could be their 'White Base' scenario. Especially if Fairchild gives them what they need.

Thats okay, i'm not serious about that character, it was just some ridiculous idea that passed through my mind and i thought it was funny enough to share with you guys, the rest were mostly joking comments, including last one...
>The problem is, when her main source of drama is her dong it becomes magical realm.
...But if you are interested in this plot hook you could just change the focus to other thing instead of her dong, per example, "she could be an orphan who was abandoned in the door of a orphanate managed by nuns because her parents knew what she was to become, then she grews up with little education more than what the nuns could teach the children, poor funded public school and what she could learn by herself in the internet and in the library of the convent, she takes some irregular one-time jobs here and there but doesn't really get much experience in anything while failing to get in public universities, but she at least discover something that she is good in: Bluegill Joe, and start gaining small prices in tourneys here and there. But she is getting too older to be living in the orphanate, and can't join the nuns because of the genemod thing that shows up during her puberty, without many options she ends up joining this very shady and suspicious looking Bluegill Joe Tourney who gives mechs as rewards... And it turns out to be a secret project of the Lunarian army to pick up promising young pilots that may be able to get recruited into the kestrels...And be their spies."Money don't grow in trees" so she accepts and ends up going to the tourney with the hope of doing her best and getting a way to survive out of this."... Better?

But don't need to take this much seriously, it was just a random idea, not something i would defend to death XD.

Sasuga Dutch senpai, finally got to add the hands you have being speaking about for so much time, huh?
Question: Does it's WA bonus apply to handheld weapons?
Also, more grenades, range 0 more killy grenades, could be a very useful situational weapon for when you need just a little bit of exceptional oomph or plain brute area damage.
>>
>>913211
There we go. The G. Hands are the main thing I am happy about. Rather than being quick I exchanged that for +2WA at the same value. Figured it would exchange speed and quick reaction times for a sturdier, more stable connection with improved hydraulic grip strength, and control. The reason for this is simple; these hands are not meant strictly for hitting, but Grappling.
The grenades for standard are my anti-cheeki breeki weapon. While it is not as fast, killy, agile, or sturdy as the competition, it is a reliable machine that can get the job done for the team while also serving as a good machine to breed aces.
Also it's really fascinating that Pin gives a plus one to hit and would theoretically prevent someone from using both hands while I have one hand free to beat stuff with!

Hm... A very interesting choice indeed... Yes, you are right on this, 1K hands on a medium striker torso will not do much damage anyway even if they are quick, what makes focusing in the special movements the handa can do a more intelligent choice... Hm...Good call, how didn't anyone thought of this before?.
Also, Grenades are a very good choice if you can have your enemies in throwing range, but this can be difficulted if you aren't in a melee battle.

Interesting. I can clarify on that, if you like, since Caesar and Amos might vaguely know this and I'll go over it in more detail IC. The SSL and Avalon each control one system. Avalon is used more or less to describe the faction, but it's also the name of the system they hail from, and their home planet of Avalon Prime. The Avalon system has two secondary worlds, Avalon II and Avalon III. Avalon II is a gas giant known for its luminous green rings, while Avalon III is small and rocky. Both are used for mining, but as you can see the Solar System has significantly more resources at its very base, before taking into account any tithes or levies from worlds outside the system. However, as you're also aware, that edge in resources comes with a price, the SSL is nowhere near as unified as the monocultured Avalonians and it adversely affects their organization. One might point out, though, that Avalon's military is literally led by knights, at least where mecha operations are concerned, and that in itself has problems. It could be worse, though, nobility-based command structures usually don't have a Green Man handpicking which ones are in charge and giving them genemods.

>>912702

No, I mean there's no chance of them showing up. I did say the church accepted them, but I never said anything else, did I?

I didn't so much dislike it as thought that hiding for three turns and attacking once would make for boring fights.

Because grappling and techniques do neither damage for the most part and do not benefit from quick. They are great for set ups, depriving a strong unit of their big weapon, or keeping the enemy dazed, but they aren't very kill happy. I mean, could you imagine Keith screaming while one Dutchman bear hugs him and two others pluck his wings? Hilarity. And yes, the flaw with the grenades is their range, but Blast weapons are harder to use the further away you go. I can probably throw all 3 grenades and have all three hit their mark with the range of 4.

Some avalonian questions:
>Can genemods affect your mind?
>Please give us detail on how Lori's followers are feeling about their "prolonged stay" at Auditorium? Are they butthurt about being stuck there for the time being? How are they dealing with solar culture? Are they getting enough supplies to repair the ship or are the Kestrels preferring to kept them far from the that achievement? Are they venturing out of the ship to see what lies beyond? What were their reaction to each pirate crew(I assume that they would react in different ways depending on the crew)?
>Is Avalon winning in any system besides their own? And what is the situation on the other side of Qu'lir?
>HOW IN ASGARD DID FLOYD AND MERROW LET THE GREENLADY SURVIVE!? She crashes into the planet and they don't even bother to check if she is alive?
>...Are Avalonian cities named after famous medieval fantasy ones?
>Can you give us pics of avalonian things that we aren't even probably of ever seen anyway with little descriptions of what they are? like your description of Palley's World.

>>913644
I admit recognizing the wisdom in your words senpai, but you'll have to play this with care as you need to get closer to make use of this advantage, what will be hard when dealing if long range heavy weapons mechs and very dangerous when dealing with one-hitters.

Also... i feel bad for the Zakus trying to disarm Keith man, many of them will probably job before getting to him.

>tfw in the last battle of the tourney: Its Roarke vs Doan.
>>
>>914091
A thing to consider is that Keith is an idiot when it comes to strategy. He likes to be very far away from the action, so having a transport on standby with a strike team might get some men through. There is also the fact that Keith is also a idiot when it comes to his machine. It shows a lot of fire power, yes, but only when facing forward. He also has a heavy machine with no defenses or bonuses for his main weapon. Even with a 17 he rolls at a 12. Meanwhile, A class team of Dutchmen roll at 13 with a shield for two defense rolls. Getting close with those wings would be trouble for the front, but if someone moved behind him, he'd be safe and in a good position to grab him. Once that happens, to break out he'd have to do a Mech Fighting roll against the dutchman. In his bulky machine. With no points in it. Then the guy just swerves around so he faces Keith's allies and watch as Keith team kills AGAIN.
>>
>>914211
Okay:
1-Why wouldn't him just use the "Wings of SOMETHING" on the zakus firing a multiple of them at once?
2-Can Dutchmen survive shots from him if they parry?
>>
>>914370
His wings of bullshit may be anti army, but they are still 7 kill weapons and only fire in a arc in front of him. They are not 360 weapons. The light shoulder shield of the Standard is 6 SP and it's armor is 5. So if it blocks that is 1 kill of damage. It's armor is juuust thick enough that it can get hit in the torso and not die from the first hit. As for the tricks of this machine, you forget one thing; All his weapons are beam and the Guard packs both a heavier shield and anti beam chaff. Throw one down and watch as he can't do jack with those wings. Then there is the Ranged variant and it's own sniper rifle. It'd fire at a 12 when A rank, but it has a reactive shield. So yes, Dutchmen could survive an encounter with him.
>>
Hey Wong, is a spy an ok character concept for the space jam?
>>
>>914477
Shoot, meant active shield. Either way, not going to be easy and if you keep them on opposite ends, then for Keith to face one he'd open his back to the other... which means PEW PEW to the back.
>>
>>914477
This is what i'm seeing on this fight:
>Keith is bullshit levels of far from the real fight being smug.(thats assuming that he is alone and not being protected by some S-Bullshit)
>Transport jumps 1km or so from him, Dutchmen start flying out of it.
>Keith thinks that they are easy game, fire wings of bullshit on them, they dodge/parry.
>TRIGERRED.jpeg
>Fire once more, ittle to no effect, Dutchmen are almost on him.
Then OR:
>Starts flying to escape them and trying to fire with his main cannon when he gets away enough.
>be useless for the rest of the fight because elite mooks are bullying him on turning tail.
>His friends job without him.

OR:
>Decides to fight mooks on melee because "They are just mooks, what possibly could go wrong"?
>Shoot through some shields, but probably no serious damage on them anyway.
>Dutchmen mob on him.
>They go full scavvie on him.
>Even if his friends win, mooks use him as hostage.
>KEK

Problem is, S-Sadism will probably be there to whip and smoke them as Keith shoots them with bonuses because of his ASP.
>>
>>914689
ASP really doesn't give accuracy bonuses when it comes to that sort of thing. It'll see through smoke screens, but these are beam scatter grenades only and the Guard models also have anti missile weaponry so no blast shenanigans. I can see the S-Sodomy causing trouble, but she's a proper ace so thats a given.
wonder how Wong feels, us shit talking Keith and plotting very possible scenarios where a gundam is bullied by zakus.

So... What is your top enemies for the tourney?
My top:
1-Dutchman
2-Loggerhead
3-Lightning/Valkyre
Worth Mentioning: Myrmdon/Wraith/Templar
And considering the number of contestants... We'll have 3 PVP fights max before the grand finale duel to win the privilege of fighting Roarke the Pirate King himself!

Other Fights i would like to see:
Phycide x Loggerhead
Valkyre x Lightning/Huskarl(One Hitters Duel)
Libra/Myrm x Wraith
Templar x Pumpkinseed Jager
>>
>>914927
Lightning VS WALKURE

Either Lightning blows up gloriously by a 24K missile, or he utterly rekts face.
>>
Question, does it take an action to switch weapons forms when you've mated them?

This question will determine whether I rebuild the Libra or not.
>>
>>914927
What I thought might be neat would be getting the top 2-3 guys in the tourney to fight roarke to get over the massive points difference.
>>
>>915023
no.
>>
>>915045
Once more into the Abyss that is the ATM, then.

Hopefully this time I'll build something I won't have to make a million revisions for. Still, once I'm done I'm hoping I'll have a weapon that is worth the high CP cost.
>>
>>915053
You'd think that's bad. Then realize everyone from old grannies to teenagers with attitude somehow have access to EMWs. Makes a poor Tourney Ace rage at the unfairness of it all.
>>
>>915063
It's mostly that I realize how inefficient the CROWE's current form is. Instead of making a million different mated forms, I can just make a base CROWE that's mated with a phalanx weapon, and then just slap on Multi-feed 2 and have different ammo types people can pick and choose from and have it more or less work the same way as the old one. Plus, If it works out, the CROWE will be stronger, lighter, and hopefully less expensive.
>>
>>915063
Who needs EMWs when you can get armour piercing or set people on fire?
>>
>>915079
Who needs guns when you can RIP AND TEAR
>>
Alright, here's what I've got right now for the new CROWE. everything is subject to change later.

CROWE revision.
Gun 1 - Range 400m, WA 0 (+1 with Tracers), 7k, Multi-feed 2, BV 3, Tracer Ammo (+1 WA) + Grenade Ammo (Blast 1), Ammo 10 bursts (5 with grenades)
Gun 2 - Range 150m, WA +2, 1 k, BV 8, Phalanx (anti-missile) Ammo 20 bursts

My brain is too tired for all this math bullshit, so I'll finish the rebuild later.
>>
>>914927
I'd say it's the one hit kill units. Unless I get initiative first, chances are I lose. Oddly enough, the standard loadout has the highest chance of winning against them if there is a standard distance between contestants. Then again, if that distance is the same and the Dutchman gets initiative, it could pin the Wraith and start plucking limbs off.
>>
File: UNLIMITED FIST WORKS.jpg (6 KB, 236x172)
6 KB
6 KB JPG
>>915569
What will be the starting distance? I Feel that it should at least be more than 600m or some units would open by dropkick.... Maybe 1KM to give the snipers a chance for paying for their extended range and such.

Ah, and i was meaning to ask you "who you wanted to fight" the most, not "who is your counter" i'm sorry, i worded it wrong i guess... Also, would you like to have your first fight be with the Walkure? Or to wait for us to face each other in the finals/semi-finals and risk it not happening because of one-hitters getting the iniciative?
If i could choose, i think that it would be cool if it was:
First Duel-Templar/Myrm or Wraith
Second-Loggerhead
Third-Valkyre
Final Match-Dutchman

>>915114
Hmmmm...
Not bad, do BV hit in the same servo or each hit roll separately?
The granade is also a solid choice has discussed before because of the Dutchman... But i don't know if high burst Phalanx is much usefull has any serious missile user is probably going to burn luck on his roll if he is going to missile spam someone, what will transform this situation on a "who burns more luck and has more WA" battle.

>>915080
Who needs「RIP AND TEAR」 when you have your 「FISTS」?
>>
>>915693
I would like to fight Walkure the most because once the rock and missiles are gone it becomes an engaging match of fisticuffs. A battle of many small hits versus accurate big hits and techniques. Fighting first means no chance of either of us being knocked out before the fight and it can set the tone of the competition. As for distance, 200 to 400 makes sense to me. 4-8 spaces so even slower movements could land one volley of attacks in while range units could comfortably fire for a turn. Maybe more for those who use long range to make use of that advantage.
>>
>>915693
That was just something I threw together when I was half asleep. Here is what I've got now for the CROWE.

Handheld ZX-21 C.R.O.W.E (Combat Raid Offensive WEapon) Standard Configuration - 44.8 CP, 5.08 tons (See below for additional details)
Gun 1 (FAIZ) - Range 350m, WA 0 (+1 with Tracers), 6k, Multi-feed 2, BV 3, Tracer Ammo (10 bursts) + Grenade Ammo (Blast 1) (5 bursts), 2 reloads (Tracers) 1 reload (grenades)
Gun 2 (IOTA) - Range 150m, WA +2, 1 k, BV 5, Phalanx (anti-missile) Ammo 10 bursts.

I'm still not done, since I need to factor in a bunch of other bullshit including the Sniper and Ester variants and also double check my math but fuck it, I've been dealing with this bullshit for about 3 hours and I need a break.
>>
>>915712
>200m being okay
Dutch-senpai, i've got to disagree with you on that.
The thing is, this tourney follows the fuction of testing various officer designs to be produced to fill our ships... And most fights do not begin in this distance, on the contrary, they tend to begin with units running to each other with at least one or two kilometers of distance between them, not reproducing this to at least some extent would be not fair with units that uses their range and high MA to do their job and would give heavy advantage to one hitters who could potentialy just job when facing a sniper that is not in their imediate range.
In short, to be fair and choose wisely we have make a starting distance of more than 600m(max MA for first turn) or face great bias on the matter.
>>
>>916202
fair enough. It would mean that ranged units would have a chance to shine even when dealing with melee units so I can't fault it. Also deals with the one hit killers who need just to get initiative to stand a chance.
>>
>>916246
The question then is, how much far from each other should they start?Suggestions:
>650m
A max-speed unit could spend their whole turn to get in attacking range of their enemy, that could in response either try to attack two times or escape.
>850m
If a melee unit went max spend to their enemy, even a 8MA mech could get either get in ranged to do a melee attack or try to run somewhat.
>1000m
A normal 8MA unit would take 5 actions to dropkick their enemy if it didn't move, 12+MA mechs would take two turns to dropkick if their enemy didn't moved. This would let the long-rangers shine.

>1200m
Max range for Heavy Missiles, at this point range and MA became very important in this fight.

>2KM
Max range for backup sensors, i would say that most pirate fights start at a distance near this as ship probably can't get much more closer before shots start to fly.

I think that 1KM would be perfect, as it is far but not too far to turn this in sniper's tourney, More than this gives much incentive for long-ranged guns instead of more precise ranged boosted-ones.

First thing, keep in mind that i haven't sleep this night and a BBQ just happened at my place, so i'm very austistic right now, please point-up any crazyness.

Okay...
Somehow my accounting of CP gave me 41,5CP for the standard version of your weapon, for 10 Spaces, and 5.88 tons of weight...
You may want to recheck your numbers just in case.

About its efficacy...
>6K and BV3
Pretty good damage for a weapon, and with BV it can be even more powerfull if you can keep scoring extra shots... What could still be a challenge as you have the same MV of a Bluegill and not much bonus on WA, but in the case you can score same place hits on some part of an opponent you could do some damage even in Pumpkinseed II level enemies

>Multifeed with Grenades
Good Choice for a weapon who has multiple ammo, it pays off the cost by allowing you to nuke people who get to close, and Blast seem a good ace in your sleeve for having and edge to call upon in special cases.

>Range 350 or 150.
Seriously? It seems a little risky... Okay, most mooks will need to go full speed on you to be able to cross that space in a turn, but it won't let you snipe them from afar to give support unless you go full sniper variant, and makes you keep having to getting closer to score a good shot against melee opponents... And against same level opponents this can be suicidal.

In terms of Tourney fights... Walkure, Lightning, Huskarl would wreck you after the first turn, Myrm and Wraith would try to snipe you probably, as they have more range, and only the memes know what Doan you choose to attack you with.
Your blast can neutralize the shadow images from the Valkyrie, but i doubt that it would help you for long if she gets closer.
Victor maybe would use his Cannon-Lance on you has you guys have the same range, and then try to get closer for finishing you off with the lance, also he would be immune to your blast because of his beta armor.

>Other variations.
Sniper can work very well for a bunch of situations, and could (with luck) end some fights before the enemy get to you, but the long range makes BV extra hits very difficult.
Heavy seems the better to fight heavy armored enemies if you aren't the main target or don't care about risking yourself at close range any way.... How does AP works agaisnt Beta Armor?
The bayoneta gun may be a clever solution against heavy mooks as Pumpkinseeds or maybe even some officer mechs, but don't forget that you aren't a tanker and you can go down fast if they get lucky.

This reminded me of something... Will or aces be the ones to fill the Ace slots on the new ships? It is looking like so, to the ones who have an interest in staying at least.

>>931840
Also, Wong, can Daryl be a spy? He is asking you about it but i don't remember you answering it.
>>
>>931931
True, but it's a drawback I'm willing to live with in order to both A. have a kickass gun, and B. keep the Libra as faithful to the original as possible.

>>932018
>Somehow my accounting of CP gave me 41,5CP for the standard version of your weapon, for 10 Spaces, and 5.88 tons of weight...

not sure how you're getting that. Remember that the CROWE is a mated gun, and that the grenade and scattershot ammo have 5 bursts, so the take up half the spaces and weight of the tracer and AP ammo.

http://pastebin.com/Z2iM9Rj4 This pastebin is more or less how I built it.

Range is irrelevant for phalanx weapons, so the 150 isn't a concern. and to get more range for the FAIZ would cost too much.

>In terms of Tourney fights
Eh, I'm not to concerned about how it does during the tourney since it wasn't built for it. I built it thinking on how it would engage some of the grunt suits we've encountered so far.

>Sniper
That's a good point. I might try and futz around with that later to see what I can get.
