Verana looks over your group as she starts to explain. “It happened about a week ago, while I was preparing for my next trial in becoming a Priestess of the Temple. An odd man was traveling through the desert. He was lost... I tried to help him, and he seemed so thankful for my aid.”

“Trusting strange men again, Verana?” Aveli asks critically.

“Oh you be quiet you angry tin can.” she huffs. “The point is, from the look of him he seemed like nothing more than a traveling merchant. Awkward, but friendly enough. As we tried to move back to the village, he noticed my ocarina. I talked a bit with him, he recalled some things from his travels.”

“Sounds innocuous enough.” Sheik comments, crossing her arms and watching the blonde Gerudo carefully.

“...then the Poes attacked as we got close to the Spirit Temple.” Verana adds, looking down with shame. “I was able to drive them off. He told me that he’d seen this trouble before, and that it was a horrible sign; restless spirits, tainted by a corruptive influence. He... had a song that he said could heal the spirits.”

“That tune you were playing?” you ask.

She nods. “It... worked, but what it left behind was... that.” She looks to the mask, shuddering slightly. “He told me that it was probably harmless. I should keep it safe, away from whatever was disturbing the spirits. I should have known better...”

“Let me guess. You put the mask on, like an idiot.” Aveli adds dryly.

“No you little brat!” she spits out defensively... then blushes. “...not intentionally.”

The three of you breathe out a delayed, “...huh.”

“There was something in that... thing. Something that kept pushing itself into my mind, telling me there was a danger in the Spirit Temple. That I needed to hurry. I... well, merely investigating wouldn’t hurt, right? It will be my duty to keep dangers away from the Spirit Temple when I become an official Priestess. So I traveled at night, prepared, cautious, but...” She shakes her head. “...I got ambushed by Stalfos. Next thing I knew it was like a waking nightmare, like a monster took over my body and all I could do is have brief glimpses of what was really happening.” Verana looks to you directly. “You saved my life, Miss...?”

“Termina.”

“Miss Termina. You know my story, now why are you here with the spoiled little Iron Knuckle?”

Aveli shoulders her axe and grunts. “Says miss magic pants...”

“We seek the Temple’s dragon; monsters are trying to cause chaos, and based on what we all just went through, there is a very good chance that the dragon is their main target.” you explain, noticing Aveli and the older blonde Gerudo glaring at each other. “We do not have much time to waste, this is a threat to the Gerudo and... well, everyone.”

Verana looks to you, breaking her glaring contest with Aveli for a moment. “Then I may be able to help you in some manner, Miss Termina. The song I learned from the man is something that can quell the restless spirits. So long as you are careful around anything they leave behind, this could be vital in stopping that bastard’s schemes. I would like to teach it to you.”

“Why not just come with us?” Aveli asks with a clearly teasing grin. “Too scared?”

The Gerudo’s eye twitches, but she keeps herself from yelling in retaliation. “If this is truly as dangerous as it sounds, I would be nothing but a burden for you all. So please, allow me to teach you the Song of Healing.”

“Sheik, you have a harp as well, you should learn it too.” you instruct, the Sheikah nodding and pulling out her harp as you pull out yours. “Also... what will you be doing, Verana? If you’re not coming with us, that is.”

“Not trying to avoid responsibility, are you?” Aveli asks.

Her face reddens as she quickly turns away. “I am well aware of my shortcomings, and if the three of you could take down THAT monstrosity on your own, I would prefer to not get in your way. I still have things I can do here in any case; your engagement has disturbed some of our older tombs. I do not wish to further the disrespect our ancestors have gone through by leaving their remains out in the open.” she explains, directing the last few sentences at Aveli with a judging glare. “...not that you’ve ever shown much in the way of respect.”

Sheik coughs to break up the two starting to get in each other’s faces. “I would be happy to learn this song.”

Verana backs up. “Then let us begin.”

You and Sheik watch dutifully as the girl plays the notes on her ocarina. The melody... has this melancholic tone to it, now that you’ve gotten the chance to really analyze it. But there’s a strangely hopeful ending. This... wait, you’ve heard something like this before, but not quite the song itself. Where have you-

...

You recall now, what kind of song this “Song of Healing” really is. This is a funeral song. Things are starting to make a bit more sense.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoxWpmDUUNc

[You learned the Song of Healing!]

“The bodies of the undead cannot stand such tones. It reminds them of their attempts at cheating death, and how they have made a fool’s bargain. The song is in some ways welcoming and mesmerising to them, and could stun any of the undead monsters you come across.” Verana explains. “Use it carefully, though. Should they resist, they will not fall for its tones and they will try to lash out against the one playing.”

“Understood. You have my thanks, Verana.” you tell the young Gerudo woman, looking to the ladder you all used to get down here. “We must be off, take care.”

You walk with the other girls to the main room, Aveli cheerfully matching ahead of you and Sheik. Looking to the Sheikah girl, you ask her, “Sheik, how should we utilize the Song of Healing against the foes we’ll face ahead? Should we have one of us keep it up while the other fights, or should we alternate and have each other support one another?”

She... seems at a loss at the question. “I am... well, I am sworn to protect you, Princess. If you feel that I should be the one fighting while you weaken our foes, I would be more than willing.”

You smile and sigh. “That’s not... quite what I meant, Sheik. I mean we need to strategize this better, given the foes we’ve faced so far. You can utilize your skills to keep yourself out of reach of foes while you play, no? But I also have skills of my own. So I want your input.”

Aveli looks back at the two of you. “Well, you’re a good fighter, Z, and I know you like to kick some ass. But you’ve also got that Zas guy with you still, right?”

...ah damn, that’s right! You might not be able to call Zas while the song is being played. Or even if you can, it might be detrimental to him. “There’s a risk in that, Aveli. We’ll have to be careful in how we proceed.”

“Hrmn...” Sheik vocalizes as the three of you spot the other two doors of the main entrance. You head towards the winged eye... or maybe it’s a sun... as it seems to contain the rest of the Temple. “It might have to depend on the situation, then.”

The next room contains... an odd surprise. In the center of it there is some kind of creature, floating slightly above the ground like a Poe, body of a person but head of a hound, wrapped like a Gibdo. Aveli takes a step towards it... and the creature moves... away? But it doesn’t seem to want to attack...

You don’t like how this. There’s something... uneasy about the monster. Aveli approaches again, causing it to back away once more. It then... starts mirroring her movements as she steps in place, going left as she steps right, going right as she steps left. “Okay you’re just annoying.” she grumbles, bringing her axe up. “Bad dog!”

You bring your shield up. “Sheik, Song of Healing. We’ll test this out.”

“Very well P-” She stops as Aveli tries to being her axe down, managing to hit the target... but doing much less damage than she anticipated, and causing it to blast a jet of flame out at her. She’s knocked back, and you quickly defend Sheik as the flames move towards you. The heat is intense, but at least you’re able to keep Sheik safe from them. She starts up the Song of Healing...

...and the flames disappear. The monster seems to slowly float closer to the ground, completely entranced by the song’s tune. And wide open!

You keep your shield up. “Looks like it’s working! Keep it up, Sheik! Aveli, now’s your chance!”

The little Iron Knuckle gets back up and rushes the monster. “I SAID. BAD! DOG!” she roars at it, raising her axe once more. The monster is stunned still, incapable of moving, but it seems aware enough to retaliate, letting out another jet of flames... but Aveli uses her smaller stature to her advantage, ducking as she brings the oversized axe down on the beast, pushing the flames back at the monster. The splitting jet glances off your shield and makes you lose your footing momentarily, but you’re still able to keep Sheik safe from the attack... and get a clear view of the axe, covered in flames, splitting the monster in two.

The wrapped cloth slowly vanishes into a blackened mist, Aveli standing tall and proud over the victory. “Well, looks like that’s a winning strategy. Let the smart girls keep it all confused, and it’s much easier to smash.”

“So it would seem...” Sheik comments softly, voice drifting as she looks to you. You hear her quietly mumble out a “Thank you.”

You smile at her and look around the room. Monster didn’t drop anything, and there seems to be only one way forward.

“We’re making good progress, girls. Let’s keep this up, still in a hury.” you tell them, moving on to the next room. It’s more extravagant than the last one, having detailed carvings on the walls and a beautifully done pillar section near the back. There are two doors, one on each wall, and a locked door in the back. You notice some Skulltula on the walls, but they seem to be... strangely stationary. Not moving much other than scurrying around in a pattern.

In the very back there’s a door that’s barred shut. Not sure how you can open it given what you have available to you. No switches around, no crystals to hit, no switches to hit. Aveli seems a little confused herself. “I... don’t think it’s supposed to be like that. Maybe the Skulltulas are keeping it locked somehow?”

“Or the thing keeping it shut could be behind those doors.” Sheik speculates.

“Girls, let’s clean this room out first. Don’t want any surprises, especially with what we just went through downstairs.” you state, drawing your blade. You close in on one of the Skulltula and take a swing at it... missing, the giant spider scurrying away from you as you strike the wall, sending a slight tremor through your arm. Ow. Why that little... bah, no use getting mad at it. You carefully watch where it moves and then manage to strike it in the head, killing it.

You continue this as the other girls get to work, and... you start to notice a pattern with the Skulltula. Each one moves in an odd, but consistent pattern. Almost like...

...

Music notes!

“Girls, I found it out!” you shout excitedly, distracted long enough for one of the Skulltula to take a scratch at your arm. Gah, damn! Same arm, too! You pull it away, biting your lip softly. You stab at it in retaliation, and... well, that’s not much damage to your person. But that was a hit to your pride. Ow.

[Hearts: 4.75/8]

Aveli and Sheik finish cleaning up the other Skulltulas and approach you. “So, what did you figure out, Z?” the little Iron Knuckle asks, leaning on her axe.

You pull out your harp and strum the tune, recalling it from memory...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6cu52faDKA

...Aveli looks at you in surprise, a click at the end of the room signaling the door opening. “How... how’d you learn that song?”

“The Skulltula.” you say with an innocent, but slightly teasing smile.

“What.”

“The Skulltula on the wall were moving in a very specific pattern. It matches the notes on a sheet of music. I merely copied them.” you explain, even Sheik giving you an impressed look. “What’s so special about this song?”

“It’s ceremonial. Used only when a Gerudo leader has passed on.” she states. “I’ve never actually heard it in ceremony, but...”

Sheik’s eyes widen. “Wait, so how would Skulltula know that song?”

...Oh no. You know how. And you don’t like the answer. You look to them both with worry in your eyes. “There was one Gerudo leader that passed on, before his time. And if this is the case... then this might be a warning. Or a threat.”

Goddesses you hope you’re wrong about this...

You walk into the next room, through the door in the back, Aveli still keeping her cheerful little march as Sheik sticks close to you. The next room is less intricate and decorated than the last, with five pillars in the center, four smaller ones surrounding a larger one right in the middle. It seems... odd. The floor around it seems to have more wear than the rest of the room. Might be a way to move it? Well, with the Power Gloves you’d be able to push it aside easily. And there's that winged eye, or sun, again at eye level.

As you all walk closer... the air seems to become colder, a deathly chill creeping down your spine. You hear what sounds like a faint gust of wind blowing from the back, a stairway visible. Aveli readies herself, Sheik getting pulling out her dagger.

Did Aveli roll trip 1s for stealth?

You try to duck behind one of the pillars, hoping to catch the thing unaware. Aveli opts for the opposite approach, shouting as she runs at the thing, using the Belt of Winds to try and confront it, “HEY, UNDEAD ASSHOLE! GET OUT OF MY PEOPLE’S TEMPLE!”

The thing gives its reply to that demand... a reply that results in the little Iron Knuckle getting smacked right into the pillar you were trying to hide behind, flying THROUGH it and knocking you down. Thankfully it’s a small thing, but still. Ow.

[Hearts: 4.5/8]

At the very least, the monster isn’t aware of your presence. You manage to sneak a peak of it... and of all things, it looks like a tall, oversized Poe. It slowly floats towards you, gaze clearly focused on Aveli... with Sheik managing to throw a trio of needles at it, distracting it, and vanishing behind a pillar herself. The monster doesn’t know where she is, and it’s distracted away from Aveli. You’ve got a clear shot!

“Aveli, are you okay?” You ask quietly.

She pushes herself up. “That hurt my pride more than my body.” she laughs, grabbing her axe again. “Got a plan?”

“On my signal, draw it over and I’ll blast it.” you tell her, peeking over to the giant Poe once more. It’s still distracted by Sheik, so you’ve got the opening you need. “Three... two... one... now!”

“HEY YOU SPOOKY PUNK!” the Gerudo girl shouts, catching its attention again. “THAT THE BEST YOU GOT? MY GRANDMA COULD HIT HARDER THAN THAT!”

The spectral figure floats in your direction quickly, swinging its lantern. She backs away as it gets close, axe raised defensively. And it’s right in front of you now! You fling a fireball at it with a shout of “Din’s Fire!”

The monster shrieks in pain, flailing its arms wildly... and sadly managing to smack you in the side, knocking you down.

[Hearts: 4/8]
[Magic: 2/5]

Like wind, Sheik comes at the monster, barraging it with needles as the flames engulf it and then finishing it with a slash of her dagger across its arm. The Poe drops its lantern as its spectral form vanishes in the flames. You sigh in relief, Sheik quickly coming to your aid, over you like an anxious mother hawk, trying to help you up. “Princess, are you okay? Did anything break? That was a nasty fall, please, please tell me you’re all right...”

You let out a quick, but friendly laugh. “I shall be fine, though I believe a Red Potion may be beneficial at this point. We’re in a hurry, so let’s scrounge up what we can and get moving, we still do not have a lot of time.”

Sheik recovers her needles as best she can as you and Aveli search around. You manage to get a little something for your effort, some stuff to recover health and magic in a few of the pots in the room’s corners. Guess you won't need that Red Potion right now, best to save it.

[Hearts: 6/8]
[Magic: 3/5]

Aveli manages to do you one better, though. Not only does she seem to bring herself back to full strength, she notices something interesting. Pushing the central pillar off to the side, she uncovers...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppy8d8_iEQo

The [Temple Map]! Now you’ve got a clear picture of the place.

You hurry up the stairs, Sheik close behind as Aveli trails, looking around the area curiously. “Princess... are you sure you are not overexerting yourself?”

“I have faced worse, and I have the two of you backing me, do I not?” You ask, looking back at the Sheikah and Gerudo. “I have faith in both of you, especially with how well you two have been doing. We shall succeed.”

“Heh, thanks, Z!” Aveli comments, closing in cheerfully/

Upon arriving on the next floor, you check the map. The room you’re in has two doors leading down to two more rooms, which themselves combine into another down the way. And there seems to be something inside a central area. You also notice a switch, with that same winged eye-sun above it, in the room you all are currently in.

>A. Step on the switch, let’s test this out

You curiously approach the switch and step it down. The winged eye-sun on the wall flips around, revealing... music notes. You smile slightly. “You know Aveli, I’m a bit impressed. The Gerudo have quite an interesting variety of music in here.”

She shrugs. “Eh, it’s a place with a lot of importance to us. Though... being honest, it’s kinda nice hearing all of it myself.”

“Do you know anything about this song?” you ask as you bring out your harp, strumming the tune...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDBrm1dD7U4

...as you complete it, you hear something click some distance away. Aveli isn’t quite sure herself, but she notices it too. And then... more clicks. Almost like... a timer!

“Aveli, Sheik, can you head to the back room for me? This seems like a more intricate puzzle than before.” you ask, still holding your harp out.

“As you wish, Princess.” Sheik replies, causing Aveli to look at her and... sigh?

“Yeah, don’t sweat it, Z. Those smarts of yours will get us out of this.” Aveli comments, walking with the Sheikah.

You time the clicks as you wait for them to return. Seems... barely half a minute when the clicks stop. About another half a minute later, Aveli and Sheil return from separate doors. The Sheikah comes to you first. “It seems that there’s quite a bit to this puzzle.”

“Saw another one of those sun glyphs on the wall we passed by on a way to the back room, and then another on our way back to you. Switches under both of them.” Aveli comments.

Sheik has you open up the map. “Three in total, and the back room seemed to have a large section blocked by a similar carved figure in its wall, right where one would suspect the entrance to this central room is.”

You look it over carefully. So not only do you have to play all these songs, you have to play them quickly too...

>A. Aveli, how well can you play?
>B. Sheik, let’s take a separate path each, and then meet up with Aveli in the final room

“Aveli, how well can you play?” you question, thinking up a multitude of ideas on how to solve this puzzle.

She waves her hand back and forth. “Eh, so-so. Probably not as well as either of you can.”

“Could you recognize and play music quickly?” you ask next. Well, this might work...

“Again, probably not as well as you can.” she comments. “Why, what’re you thinking?”

>A. Then I’ll need you to carry me from this spot to the next, while Sheik takes the other path. You have the Belt of Winds, and Sheik is naturally faster than either of us

You grin with confidence. “I’ve got this figured out. I’ll play the starting song here...” you point to the wall. “...and you carry me to the next room, where I can play the next part. Sheik is faster than either of us naturally, so she can play the matching song on the opposite room.”

Sheik seems surprised by this idea, and while you see that she understands it... there’s something in her eyes that seem to give off unease. Aveli on the other hand clearly likes this idea. “Hah, sure thing, Z! I’ll get you there in no time!”

“Then let us begin.” You look to the wall with confidence, the little Gerudo adjusting her belt, Sheik readying herself to bolt through the door. You strum your harp...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0GNTfbDWhA

And when the timer starts, Aveli picks you up in her arms and dashes with you into the next room. You both get on the button, and then play the next few notes. Another click! Perfect! The young Iron Knuckle brings you into the final room, Sheik coming in through the other door. Two more switches. With a confident nod, the two of you strum the last few notes...

...and the wall moves! Success! “Awesome! You did it, Z!” Aveli cheers, in her excitement accidentally tossing you up, quickly realizing what she did and catching you on your way back down. “Aheh, sorry.”

“Well, I could not have done it without your help. Thank you, Aveli.” you comment, smiling sweetly at her as she sets you down. You notice Sheik... staring at you suspiciously, but making no comment about it.

You move into the new room and uncover a chest, opening it to find...

“Aveli, Sheik, we’re going to head back down. Let’s get this wrapped up quickly. Though on the way, we’ll check out this section of the map.” You point to a smaller room located right below the left entrance.

“Need me to carry you there too? Since you’re in such a hurry, Z.” Aveli jokes teasingly, Sheik’s eyes squinting at her.

“Let us be on our way.” the Sheikah girl comments, moving to the door.

The three of you arrive back in the room where the floating jackal was, and you scour the room. You spot an eye switch on the ceiling, nodding to it at Sheik. The Sheikah girl throws a needle at it... and to your surprise, the ceiling opens up, the last few rays of sunlight shining through. And with that shining through... there’s something odd about the floor. It seems to... sparkle? As if the stones of the floor were on top of a large mirror.

Aveli looks at it curiously. “That’s... different.”

You look around again. Wait... there’s a section of wall that’s sparkling just like that!

You slip on the Power Gloves and walk to the wall. Okay, let’s move this! You try to grab it as best you can...

...and it refuses to budge. Even with the added strength, you can’t seem to get a good grip on it. You try again and again... eventually losing your footing, falling back. Sheik and Aveli look over you. “Are... you okay, Z?”

“My pride can not take any more of these injuries today.” you state dryly. “If this continues I will need to wear a bag over my head.”

“I might have a spare helmet.” Aveli giggles out, Sheik helping you up. “Mind if I take a swing at this?”

You sigh. “Well, you are the more fitting one to handle this. It is your people’s temple after-” Aveli opts for an even more brute force approach. And smashes the wall with her axe. “...all.”

She pokes her head in the hole she made. “Hmm... yep, there’s a chest in here!”

“Well, what’s inside?”

She... carves out more of the wall, revealing it to be a very strange sort of stone. Almost like a crystal in places with how it shines. And she reveals...

“Sun’s almost below the horizon.” you comment, looking at the fading light coming in through the ceiling. “We’ll gather what we can along the way, but we need to hurry.”

“Understood, Princess.” Sheik responds.

There are a few useful things that you manage to get along the way. You bring your health up to full, your new quiver is restocked with an extra 20 bolts, you manage to find some spare bombs, and you even somehow find an extra bombchu.

[Bombchus: 7/10]

As prepared as you’ll ever be, you open up the final doorway, leading to a long hallway that seems to travel down to a lower section of the temple, according to the Map. The walls of it are flanked by beautiful carvings of... well, what you can assume to be the history of the Spirit Temple as you know it. Scenes depicting the temple’s dragon, it meeting the Gerudo, and finally coming to a rest in the area that would become the temple. Interestingly... it seems that the dragon actually has defended it from tresspassers beyond death, if you’re reading these images right. Thrice.

Sheik seems curious about the scenes depicted as well, slowing a couple times to look them over herself. Aveli meanwhile keeps moving forward, axe in hand and, even though she has her helmet on, you can tell she’s got a confident grin across her face. The path takes you to a large room, walls much taller than you were expecting, some toppled pillars around it. But the scene’s calmer imagery stop there, as a dozen Stalfos seem to dance around what from a distance would be mistaken for a pile of boulders.

But it’s not.

Right in the middle lays the skeletal remains of a truly titanic beast. Its head alone is larger than you, teeth like swords. Looking over the body, you see its massive claws, like mighty spears. And the bones of the decayed wings... in life it would probably feel like the winds of a hurricane as it flew with them.

“You’re too late.” a voice calls in an oddly calm, melancholy tone. The three of you draw your weapons, ready to face whoever it is. “You waste your time with such an action. The dragon shall rise again.”

A light in the center of the deceased dragon’s skull, violet, piercing, haunting, shines. Soon the dragon’s eyes glow with the same color, the skull turning a horrible blackened color. The body starts to bring itself together as the skeletal form rises, the eyes now shining a ruby red.

A mighty stomp from one of its claws shakes the room... no, the whole Temple. It takes one look at your party... and roars out a hateful, unnatural, almost gurgling and choking sound. A sound of decay given some mockery of life.

“Din. Nayru. Farore. Please watch over us.” you pray, bringing out your harp. “Aveli, Sheik, I’ll support you as best I can.”

“We won’t let you down, Z!” Aveli replies, marching ahead fearlessly.

“I will protect you with my life, Princess.” Sheik states with determination, standing in front of you defensively.

You strum the first note...

...the song manages to entrance the Stalfos around the gigant dragon, the little Iron Knuckle plowing through them like a small, angry, Gerudo bowling ball. The Staldragon is stunned... but it’s able to recover after Aveli smashes its forarm with her axe. To her surprise the dragon’s bones are barely even damaged by it, and the undead beast retaliates by swiping at her angrily. She backs away, using the Belt of Winds to start up hit and run tactics against the monster.

Soon it lets out a jet of a terrible mixture of blackened mist and flames, trying to catch you in the crossfire as it aims for the Iron Knuckle agitating it. Sheik picks you up and carries you away from the danger quickly, moving you behind one of the pillars as you continue to play.

>A. Focus on playing, especially with those Stalfos out there
>B. Throw some bombs out there, try and blast some of the Stalfos while they’re stunned!

You continue playing the harp... but this might not be working as well as you’d hoped. So... you take a risk. You climb up the fallen pillar, making sure they all see you. “Servants of the dark lord! Undead monsters, beasts brought back to this world with cursed powers!” You strum the harp again... and it seems to resonate better. Even the dragon seems to flinch at that. “Listen and listen well! I, Zelda Hyrule, call you back to the slumber from which you all were so carelessly awoken from! Let this song heal your restless spirits!”

“P-Princess-!” Sheik protests... but as you play the notes of the harp, eyes locked on the glowing red dots in the dragon’s skull, the beast seems... completely still. Aveli makes quick work with some of the stunned Stalfos, Sheik pushing past the surprise at this bold move working and joining in the fray. There’s only five of the Stalfos left, and of course the dragon itself.

However, some seem to be struggling against the music’s trance, one even managing to defend against Aveli and knock her back with a swing of its large blade. Sheik flips back to you, Aveli trying to stand.

And then... the dragon lets out another of its awful, unnatural roars. But this one is different. It’s almost as if... it’s in pain.

>A. Keep playing! Play your heart out! Bring these monsters to rest!
>B. Set a Bombchu down and send it at the Stalfos!

You stand defiantly against the Staldragon, continuing to play. The roars it lets out become more and more hateful, while the Stalfos... seem strangely calmed, even as Aveli and Sheik tear through them. And as you play... you get an idea. You lend your voice to the song, letting the music fill the room.

“Day to night, dark to light, fall the sands of time~
Let the years like the gears of a clock unwin-”

‘STOP!’ a voice calls from the dragon, understandable but distorted in the same malicious, awful sound its roars were from. And... before you have time to react, its massive tail swings around and crashes into your body, knocking you down off the fallen pillar you were standing on.

You fall and hit the ground hard and fast enough that you bounce and roll across the ground. That... hurt more than ANYTHING you’ve felt before. Goddesses that hurt. And somehow you feel like it wasn’t trying as hard as it could have.

[Hearts: 3/8]

“S-ZELDA!” Sheik screams, rushing to your aid. She stands in front of you as the dragon tries to approach, lunging at it and grabbing it by the neck, stabbing and trying to force its head into the ground. Aveli runs up and helps brind it down, smashing the dragon’s face with her axe.

You stand, locking eyes with the undead monster’s glowing red spheres. You wipe away some of the blood dripping down from the scrape on your head off your face. And you play.

The dragon lets out a pained roar as its body starts to tremble, black mist seeping out of the bones. As you finish the song, panting softly... the dragon speaks. Briefly, and with the same kind of voice that the other dragon, save some slight differences.

‘SLUMBER... SLUMBER AGAIN...’

You hold your arm, realizing that it too is bleeding. “Dragon... Dragon of the Gerudo, are you with us once more?”

‘THAT I AM, CHILD OF HYRULE. BUT ONLY BRIEFLY. I WILL RETURN TO QUIET, PEACEFUL REST SOON.’

“Have... have we stopped the Man with Masks from corrupting your body?” you ask hopefully, Sheik helping you stand as your legs begin to tremble.

‘YES. THE POWER THAT BROUGHT ME BACK WILL FADE... BUT IT WILL LEAVE BEHIND A MARK OF ITS EXISTENCE. TAKE THAT MARK FAR AWAY FROM HERE, AND THESE SACRED GROUNDS WILL BE SACRED ONCE MORE.’

“Ah... D-dragon...?” Aveli asks hesitantly. “You’re not mad about me kinda smashing you for a bit, are you?”

‘DAUGHTER OF THE DRAGGAI, YOU HAVE HELPED YOUR PEOPLE THROUGH SUCH ACTIONS. THEY CAN BE EASILY FORGIVEN.’

She sighs in relief. “Well, one less thing that’ll have me yelled at...”

‘BEFORE I PASS, I MUST WARN YOU OF ONE FINAL THING, CHILD OF HYRULE’ the dragon’s voice, now pained and struggling, says to you. ‘A WARRIOR OF SHADOWS KNOWS WHO YOU ARE.’

“A... a ‘Warrior of Shadows?’” you repeat.

‘BEWARE.’

I really liked how the thing that did the boss in was a song. It seems weird that no one at nintendo ever thought of something like that, instead it's just "Use the dungeon item and wail on them x 3"

I know it's late, but thanks, all of you. So glad y'all have been having fun.

Sheik probably felt like she was having a heart attack at the end there. She's been trained for situations like this, but this is the first time she's ever had to deal with one. To say she was nervous is an understatement. But she's glad you made it out in one piece.
