>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

The gang has gathered in the stables, standing around Lantana as she pets both Pengsong and Gava. She looks a bit better than she did yesterday, but the sorrow in her eyes is still there, and you can't help but feel a twinge of sorrow yourself at seeing her so dejected.

"The Volcanic Islands," she says, continuing to pet the two beasts. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But, it'll mean that we have to go through Kalana's territory, then find a boat."

"We could try going further North, and find a boat that will take us to the island from there," Mauya suggests.

"If there are any boats for hire up there, I doubt we have the money necessary to pay for that long of a voyage," Sansha tells her.

Mauya sighs, giving a defeated look toward Pengsong. "Well, Gava could fly us there, but-"

"No," Lantana cuts her off. "We aren't leaving him."

Sansha glances down. "We would reach our destination faster if-"

"No," Lantana repeats angrily. "I've already lost two friends, I am not abandoning a third."

"We can head West," you tell the others. "Whatever we have to deal with, we'll handle it. Besides, we don't have time to go around. We need to do this as quickly as possible."

"That's what I'm saying," Mauya tells you. "We could get there faster flying with Gava. We'd just leave Pengsong here for-"

"I SAID NO!" Lantana yells at her, stepping toward the young Waterbender with an enraged look on her face. "We aren't leaving him behind! If you want someone to stay back so badly, then you can stay here, but the rest of us are walking West!"

Sansha looks at Lantana in shock, and you can't blame her. As far as you can remember, Lantana's never talked to any of you like that before.

Mauya at least has the decency to look apologetic for her suggestion.

"I'm sorry," she tells Lantana. "It's just-"

"Whatever," Lantana cuts her off. "Let's just go, alright?"

"Lantana, please, take it easy on Mauya, she was just trying to help," you tell your friend.

The Avatar glares at you, and you feel yourself flinch under her furious stare.

"Leaving someone behind is not help," she snaps. "Now let's just go, I'm tired of talking."

Without another word, she leads the animals out of the stables, heading back toward the entrance to the temple. Sansha gives a sorrowful look in her direction, and begins to follow.

Mauya, on the other hand, looks somewhat ashamed. Her expression is oddly vulnerable, and she looks almost like she could cry, but when she notices you glancing her way, she takes a deep breath, and recomposes herself, returning to her normal exterior.

"Well, I guess we're leaving," she says, moving to follow the others.

As the gang gets moving toward the entrance to the temple, you head for the front of the group, walking beside Lantana. She glances over at you, but doesn't say anything, just continuing to silently push ahead.

Pengsong looks at you, making some sounds you can't really make sense of before looking toward Lantana. Gava's moving is somewhat sluggish, and you think the bison knows what's happened.

Deciding that it's better for your health if you don't try to talk to an angry Lantana, you keep your mouth shut, simply trying to cheer up the animals by petting them.

Pengsong nuzzles your hand, seeming grateful for the attention, though he makes sad eyes toward Lantana. Gava doesn't react much, just occasionally letting out a sad groan.

The group moves past the statue of Doyu, with Lantana either not seeing it or simply ignoring it. Continuing onward, you come to the spot where you'll begin your trip down the mountain.

Standing across from Lantana, you work with her to make a platform of Earth, large enough for your group and the animals to step onto. Once everyone is safely onboard, you begin moving the platform down toward the bottom of the mountain.

Lantana may not be in the best mental state, but her Earthbending is still on-point. Between the two of you, it's a fairly smooth ride to the bottom, though you notice Sansha looks ready to vomit most of the way down. When the platform at last reaches the bottom, she's the first off, with Pengsong right behind her.

Mauya and Gava step off next, leaving you and Lantana. Lantana nods at you before going after the others, and you begin to follow.

"So, it's a few days, at least, until we get out of the mountains," Mauya reminds everyone. "Then several weeks west."

Is it to late to go north and take a boat?
Boats are like 4 times faster than going on foot, don't give a fuck about hard terrain and are more comfy. Longer distance would be compensated by faster travel, also less chance of running into enemy's troops.

We have an avatar, waterbender, martial artist and skilled warrior/earthbender master. We improve any boats security by million %.
Surery we can enlist on some boat going westwards.

Plus:
>be an avatar, hope of future generation
>be a fucking hero that greatly helped in defence of air nation temple
>gets send away with nothing but rations
>thanks air nomads.

>>877209
"We can go for a few more hours, then set up camp," you suggest.

"Alright," Lantana says without looking at you.

She continues moving forward, with Pengsong lumbering right behind her, and Gava not far behind the other beast. Sansha, color returning to her face, follows, and Mauya follows her.

The air surrounding the group is awkward and uncomfortable as you move through the mountain range, the sun slowly getting lower int he sky as you continue onward. Nobody really says anything, and the animals are the only real source of noise until sunset finally comes, at that point, everyone stops where they are.

Lantana begins setting up tents, Sansha begins gathering rations, and Mauya goes to get some water.

Deciding to go with Mauya, you locate a small stream nearby, and the girl has you hold canteens while she fills them up one by one. She seems to be deliberately taking her time, whether to annoy you, or to avoid going back to the camp for as long as possible, you can't tell.

Eventually, she rises from her kneeling position beside the stream, letting out a sigh.

"I guess it's time we head back to camp," she says.

"How about you and I go for a walk before we head back to camp?" you suggest.

A look of relief comes over her pretty face. "That sounds nice."

"It probably would be, but she loves him," you tell Mauya.

"I know," she responds in an apologetic tone. "I just hope she isn't wishing I stayed behind."

Smiling, you tell her that, for what it's worth, you're glad she didn't stay behind.

Mauya gives you a grateful smile before looking ahead. "Thank you, Sei. Really, I appreciate your friendship."

"You," you tell her.

"Hmm?" she asks.

"That's my answer," you tell her.

Mauya's eyes widen for a moment, and her cheeks turn red. Glancing away, she regains her composure, though you can hear a lot of surprise in her tone when next she speaks.

"Oh," she says, not looking you in the eyes.

"Are you ready to head back to camp?" you ask her.

"Uh...alright," she tells you, looking you in the eyes again as she fully regains her composure. "It's probably not a good idea to be gone for too long, the others might be a bit paranoid."

The two of you head back toward camp, a somewhat awkward silence falling over the two of you. When you return, you find that tents have been prepared, and that Sansha is sitting by the fire talking to Lantana.

The two girls look toward you and Mauya as you walk in their direction.

"Welcome back," Sansha greets, rising and producing a couple of ration packs. "Here's dinner. I know it's not as good as the temple food, but keeping up strength is important."

"Thanks," Mauya tells her, taking a ration pack. She begins moving toward the fire, but, after glancing toward Lantana, begins moving to sit with Pengsong and Gava.

"Mauya, wait," Lantana says, rising and approaching the other girl.

The Waterbender stops, and the Avatar approaches her.

"I'm sorry for the way I talked to you earlier," Lantana tells her. "I just-"

"Stop," Mauya tells her, holding up a hand. "I get it, and I'm not mad at you."

Lantana gives a relieved smile, and the two of them head back to the fire. Sansha, meanwhile, offers you a ration pack.

>Present your case

While Mauya is an obvious tsundere type, Sansha most closely fits into the aloof dark-haired girl trope. Think Lulu from FFX or Sakaki from Azumanga Diaho. Nice enough girl, soft hearted in the right circumstances even, but she's just too cool to let it be easily seen.

Unfortunately they had some friction right off due to Mauya's inferiority complex and Sansha's militaristic pragmatism, but Sansha's still young enough that she hasn't yet developed a more maternal side to her personality. Now that she's away from her own mother, this should be possible to encourage development in - as long as we don't let Lantana become the den mother of the group.

After that, the most natural way for Sansha's friendship to progress with the less mature Mauya is for her to become a big-sister type. After that relationship develops, it'd be relatively easy to convince them to share.

It'd take awhile, and quite a bit of character growth, but it is still entirely within the realm of believability.

Over the next few days, Lantana's mood seems to improve, which makes the travel much more pleasant for everybody else. The trip through the mountains passes without incident, with none of Kalana's forces appearing to be around to cause trouble.

Once you reach the plains, however, you know that things are going to be far less simple. Sansha's village has been wiped out, and there's no telling if any of Kalana's followers have stuck around to settle the area. Mauya's village has almost certainly been taken, though you doubt that its in shape anywhere near as bad as Sansha's.

"What do you think?" Lantana asks, glancing back toward you. "Should we head down South and cross the river to Mauya's village, or just go west and cross wherever we can?"

"Why don't we go West now?" you ask, not seeing a point in spending extra time heading South.

"I like that idea," Mauya speaks up. "I'd rather not put my village in danger if we don't have to."

"There is a problem if we go West now," Sansha points out. "If we cross the river here, we'll have to travel over more mountains when we make it to the other side. If we go South and cross at Mauya's village, I think we can reach the coast faster. Then, we can find a boat and head for the Volcanic Islands."

Lantana frowns. "Maybe, but going South means going to places we know Kalana probably left men behind."

"Kalana's conquered most of the Western continent," Sansha reminds her. "No matter which way we go, we're going to run into her people. If we go South, then head West, we can reach the coast faster, which means less time in Kalana's territory."

"Okay, Sansha has a good point," you concede. "Maybe we should all go South."

Lantana shrugs, while Mauya looks like she wants to argue, but doesn't want to go through the effort. She just sighs in resignation, and the four of you resume your travelling, the animals lumbering behind you.

Pengsong and Gava growl back and forth at one another, having some sort of conversation that none of you can understand. You only hope that they're keeping it friendly.

"So, what are we going to do?" Mauya asks. "I mean, we're travelling through Kalana's territory, there's plenty of chances for us to get into trouble."

"We'll fight," Sansha tells her.

"Only if we have to," Lantana cuts in. "Fighting will slow us down, and will just draw more attention to us. It's better if Kalana and her top people aren't sure where we are."

"If she sends someone like the hunter after us again, it won't matter how well we hide," Mauya points out. "This isn't going to be easy."

"Well, does anybody have any other ideas?" Lantana asks.

"No, we should go to the Volcanic Islands as planned," you insist.

"It's the best place to find someone to teach you Firebending," Sansha tells Lantana, agreeing with you. "Besides, you've fought the whole army before and walked away, whatever's left out West shouldn't be a problem."

"Well then, let's get a move on," Mauya sighs, leading the way South.

How surprised was jungo when kalana let him fall to his death? Rereading it she could have saved him, and he clearly expected it.

How much of a dick did jungo have to be for her to let him die?

Is kalana a virgin?

Last time i checked it was 4/4/2

Sansha/Mauya/Lantana

Is it still Jungos army? I mean are they doing it for him, or has Kalana just said fuck it and openly lead the army with no pretenses.

Aside from fire benders, who theoretically have two defenses against lightning, what could kalana do to avoid being bug zapped? Yes she could create a vacuum.... but that seems like it would be intensely difficult.

Will we like the next Avatar?

Are there many different types of fire bending? Or has one specofic style dominated the nation?

For that matter how fragmented is the "fire nation"?

Fire, air, earth, water all have benders.
When will we learn to bend the Heart?

Shes an air bender and the world is fragmented into many competing nations.

She probably feels that her actions will lead to stability and less war.

Given that disparate kingdoms WILL band together to face a more powerful force she is ultimately correct.

Either she wins and everyone is one country, or she loses and everyone is getting along.

However for her to have any lasting effect the threat she poses would have to be absolutely monsterous. Anything less amd the petty rulers of the world will decend into warfare as soon as she dies.

Being as the position of best girl is contentiously torn between the clutches of the avatar and sansha, a fair decision cannot be reached.

The mauya however is

From a eugenics perspective, Lantana would probably produce the most powerful offspring. She's got strong earthbending lineage, plus she's the avatar. It's our duty to our descendants to provide them with the best genetics possible.
>>
>>882279
Being the avatar doesnt influence her genetics. Its not like you can inherit a mystical trait.

You could make cases for breeding any of the girls.

The only way to be sure is to breed all of them and have the offspring compete.

TIME TO ROCK.
>>
For some time, your group continues South, looking for Sansha's village in order to know when you should cross the river and begin your journey west. The plains provide a nice change of scenery, and give both Pengsong and Gava plenty to eat. In addition, the nearby river provides you with plenty of access to food other than rations.

Each day, you grow closer, and each day, Sansha looks more and more anxious, clearly dreading what she might find when you arrive at her village. Most nights, she's the last to retire, and the first to rise, and you feel yourself growing concerned as to what effects that might have on her health and mental well-being.

One evening, as everyone sets up camp, Mauya leans herself against a boulder, gazing south and gripping the Hunter's old blades. Her old sword is stashed away in her bag.

Lantana, finishing her work setting up tents, frowning in the direction of your friend, her brow furrowing in concern.

"Maybe I should talk to her," she suggests.

You spot Mauya making her way toward the edge of the camp. When she sees you, she halts for a moment, turning her head to speak to you.

"I'm going fishing, want to come?" she asks.

With that, she departs from the camp, making her way toward the river, and leaving you to decide what sort of training you want to do.

The basics seem a prudent thing to practice. After all, if you don't have a solid foundation, the rest will simply crumble away. Making your way a short distance from the camp, you get to work with your training.

For whatever reason, your performance is quite poor today. You can still perform your moves, of course, but your technique is sloppy, and you don't feel that you've made all that much progress.

When you return to camp, you feel a bit frustrated. But, on the bright side, Sansha seems to have given up her solitude for the time being, and is currently sitting by the fire, talking with Lantana.

Moving toward the campfire, you take a seat beside Lantana, listening as the girls continue their conversation.

"There's a lot of forest to the west," Lantana explains to Sansha. "That's how I was able to escape from Jungo and his men most of the time. We should have a much easier time slipping past any of Kalana's men there then we will out on the plains."

"And, if need be, we can launch ambushes a lot more easily in the forest," Sansha adds.

"Right," Lantana tells her. "So, once we cross over to Mauya's village, things should get a bit safer."

"I'm back," Mauya calls, returning with arms full of fish.

Sansha and Lantana grin toward the young waterbender.

"Nice work," Lantana tells Mauya, getting up and moving to help her with the fish.

As the two girls set to work, you look over at Sansha, asking her if she'd like to train while they make their food.

Agreeing to keep going, you face Sansha again. You aren't sure what changes, but, despite your own performance not improving much, the girl seems to be unbelievably off her game, making rookie mistakes and fighting in an extremely sloppy fashion that makes you a bit worried for her.

She manages one victory when you really screw up, but the rest of the matches go to you. Eventually, she just scowls and puts her blades away.

"Come on," she tells you. "Let's go back to camp."

"Why don't we go for a walk?" you suggest.

Sansha looks toward you, and gives a tiny smile. "Alright."

The two of you move a bit further away from camp, moving side-by-side in silence. Sansha doesn't seem like she wants to talk that much, and you're actually a bit surprised that she even agreed to come for a walk with you. Maybe you should try saying something.

Finally, the silence becomes too much for you, and you decide to break the ice. Looking toward Sansha, you speak in the suavest tone you can manage.

"You seem stone cold tonight, hun."

Sansha stops, her cheeks turning red. She lets out a little laugh, smiling but not looking at you.

"Well, that was boulder than anything I've heard you say to me before," she chuckles. "And I'm sorry I didn't give my usual rock-solid performance tonight. I'm just distracted, I guess."

She frowns, looking toward the South. "I don't think I'm ready to go back there."

After a moment, Sansha gives a confident nod. "Right."

Laughing, you pet both of the animals, apologizing for your lousy singing. They seem to forgive you, and soon, you all go to sleep.

The next day, travel resumes, and if you're correct, today is the day that you'll reach Sansha's village. Judging by how anxious your friend looks, you're pretty sure that you're right.

Lantana attempts to keep Sansha from freaking out too much, talking with the girl as you move toward the South.

It's a lovely day; the sun is shining, there's a gentle breeze that keeps you from being too hot or cold, and you feel nice and refreshed. Still, this could be a tough day for everyone. It's best to prepare yourself for what may be coming.

"You know, we shouldn't take it for granite how far we've traveled," you tell your friends. "It's been a rocky road."

Lantana and Sansha laugh, while Mauya groans and rolls her eyes.

"Thanks, Sei," Sansha says. "You-"

She cuts off, stopping dead in her tracks. Her hands fall limply to her sides as the rest of her body stiffens. At her side, Lantana clenches her hands into fists, trembling.

When Mauya and yourself come around, you see what has them so worked up.

Sansha's village has been burnt to the ground. Black rubble is all that remains of the buildings that once stood. There's no signs of any people, at least not at first, but as you draw closer, you find the charred remains of either the village's former occupants, or soldiers that died in the attack.

In any case, it's a horrifying sight to behold. Mauya looks ready to vomit, Lantana looks ready to rip someone's throat out, and Sansha hasn't moved a muscle. She just stares ahead, pale as a ghost, stiff as a board.

Personally, I'm split between Sansha and Lantana.

>>888184
>THICC
Wait, I though Mauya was lithe.
>>
>>888199

>>

Hey SOM

As always, thanks for running.

Things keep up at this rate we will have to waifu all the girls.

Yknow. To replace the one that just died.

If you think about it the right way its like evolution.

So anons, choose waifu 1 carefully.
>>
>>888352
Bad anon
>>
>>888362
Survival of the fittest SOM.

favorite group or society from the avatar world?

Would you own an owlcat?

Of stuck on a deserted island, which waifu would you wait with?

What does doyus ghost think of all of this?
>>
I want to marry Mauya
>>
>>889146
Neat
>>
>>889131
N/A

Maybe

Some sort of Waterbender; they could help escape, or maybe an Earthbender for the same reason

He's dead, Jim
>>
>>889219
Sure sure, but if he WASNT dead, what would he think? Or if he lingered, confined to this mortal coil by the chains he forged in life, unable to know true rest, doomed to roam endlessly the haunts he habited in life. Pity then should rise in all whos gaze upon his wretched form should fall, and in like measure hope that such fate not befall them at the hour of their demise.

>>
>>889250
Ah you bastard of brevity!

Are you running anything this evening?

And if so which quest?

Are you avoiding the tournament?

Or are you just excited for earthbending?

Which NPC consistently rolls the best? Or is it all over the place?
>>
>>889258
Hopefully tonight

Earthbender Quest

Nope

I guess?

All over the place
>>
>>889269
This haven't provided answers to my questions in a courteous and prompt fashion

>>
>>889537
Ah so lantana acts as a 1/2X DC modifier!

Thank god shes good for something.

She can stay.
>>
>>889562
>Shittalking Lantana
>>
>>889567
Having her in the party didnt save doyu.

And he had a really great "Pai sho bro" bonus.

She also dropped the ball with the whole "library scroll" sidequest.

But no seriously lantana a best
>>
Rolled 774568 (1d1000000)

>>889537
rolling to build a huge fucking wall to ba sing se with latana
>>
>>889747
This is now canon in my head
>>
>>889747
So latana and Sei build a fucking huge wall in the days to come and after 6 months of rockbending labor, thus called THE GREAT WALL OF BA SING SEI
>>
Hey Somnius, does Sansha wear makeup? How stacked is she compared to Mauya and Lantana?
>>
Hey Som, just a friendly little reminder to keep your sadistic bullshit from your dragonball quest out of this one. Be a faggot all you like in that shit pit so this quest can be free of them.

Faggot.
