There once was man named Gold Roger, who was the King of the Pirates. He had fame, power and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the last words he said. "My tresure's up for the taking, but you'll have to find it first. I left everything I own in One Piece." Ever since, pirates from around the world set out in search of One Piece, the tresure that will make their dreams come true.

You step foot on terra firma, which has taken the form of Big Bean Island, the closest landmass to Loguetown in the South Blue. Named so for it's general "bean" shape, the island is a tropical paradise. Or at least, it used to be. While one side is "civilized" and is controlled by the World Government, the other side is shantytown run by pirates. Due to the shear amount of conflict between both sides, the middle of the island has become a blasted no-mans-land. But enough about the island, who are you, and why are you here?

>Prosper Braddock, Male, 19: A young human man who looks up to the freedom pirates have, your dream is to become infamous enough to draw the attention of your estranged father, "Black Eyed" Blaine, but by your own strength. In order to do so, you wear an eyepatch to cover up the completely black left eye that you inherited from him. (Starts on pirate side)

>Nemo Sina, Female, 23: A female lionfishperson who escaped from an underground slavery auction, you seek to reform the corruption of the World Government from within by joining the Marines. The nearest recruiting station was here. (starts on civilized side)

>Raine Wave, Male, 28: A male human who has recently taken up bounty hunting in order to support your 4 sisters: Cloud, Tide, Drop, Dish, and your mother, Day. Although you're here to claim the bounty on one "Shackled" Yuto, you are perfectly fine with something else if it turns out more profitable. (starts on whichever side you think is better)

Rules:
Choices will be made via majority rule. Write-ins are ALWAYS allowed, however I reserve the right to veto them. Rolling will be made after an option is locked in, and I will take the highest number given. A 1 is a crit fail, and will be used unless 20 is rolled. If a 20 is rolled, you have the option of having an crit success, or a normal success but the ability to reroll a future failure. Try to keep things in the spirit of One Piece, and have fun!

Pirates, gonna be king. Also, maybe we'd go for something intimidating yeah? Pic related.
>>
>>872035
>which side
Bounty hunters tend to do better when they hunt the people that have bounties, right? Ergo, hunting the uncivilized pirates. So Marines or citizen is just plain logical.

The only real alternative to that I see would be being an ass that accepts contracts from pirates too, which would make us more of a mercenary than a bounty hunter. Not that we can't just do that, right? Just call ourselves a bounty hunter because anyone can be a bounty if the pay is good.
>>
>>872035
Also, what's our father's name? Wave as a surname really makes those sibling names.
>>
>>872063
>>872080
So far it seems like we'll be starting on the civilian side. Keep in mind we may end up somewhere totally else.

>>872077
I like the face, but the clothes are too clean and fancy for Wave's backround.

>>872097
Honestly hadn't thought of it. Also, Raine is his surname. Since One Piece is one of the few mainstream anime/manga that kept the eastern naming convention, I decided to go with it. I'll change it if you guys want though.

thats fine, worse case we become a Warlord or something. Though are we just starting as a bounty hunting cause those clothing don't look too expensive.
>>
>>872144
As you look around at the White House around you, you can't help but notice how it makes the colorful clothing of the locals stand out. On the other hand, the white uniforms of Marine patrols seems to blend in almost perfectly. As you spot a particularly well-dressed group of women, you smile. Soon enough, your family would be dressed like that.

The sound of a cart wheel hitting a pothole jolts you back to reality. It's cargo of fruit spills out onto the street. One of them, a fruit that looks like grapes with strange spiral patterns all over their surface, bumps against your boot. You realize just how hungry you are. Hell, you haven't eaten in days. You glance around. Everyone's preoccupied with the cart itself, and nobody would notice one fruit missing.

What do you do?

14 = Fluff Fluff Fruit. A parmecia fruit that gives the eater the power to generate a white, wool-like substance that defies gravity. It can absorb shock exceptionally well, immobilize people, and even generate large amounts of static electricity.
>>
>>872560
If I might suggest, I'd say list them all together.

God damn it, I got a fucking sheep fruit.

If it makes you feel better my 20 could be a really stupid sounding paramecia or zoan. It'd still be good probably late game but still.
>>
>>872456
Nail Nail Fruit. Another parmecia fruit that allows the user to create nails of varying size that can pierce any material without damaging it in order to pin objects together. The strength of the "pinning" depends on the strength of the user. If nails pierce living things in vital areas like hearts, heads, etc. they will be paralyzed until it is removed.

Puff Puff Fruit. A parmecia that give the eater the ability to inflate objects like a ballon, along with an extremely high lung capacity. Objects will float like balloons, and how much it takes to pop inflated objects depends on their density. If the objects are inflated and popped, they then become like a deflated ballon.

The "grapes" taste absolutely disgusting, but you're too hungry to notice until after you swallowed a few whole. You drop the rest of the bunch on the ground, and start to wretch in order to get what must have been poison out of your system. As you watch, however, a silvery spike slowly falls out to the back of your hand, and embeds itself in the cobblestone below. You are very much suprised, but strangely not the least bit confused. That was the Nail Nail Fruit, and now as a Nail Man, you can make as many of those as you want. They can go through just about anything without damaging it, and pin them to other objects. They're also good for paralyzingly people.

A few Marines who were helping get the fruit back in the cart turn at first to help you, but as they notice the half eaten "grapes" on the ground, one of them shoves you against the wall.

"Listen theif, if you want to pull shit like that, stay on your side of the island. Got it?"

You consider using you newfound powers on him, but you ultimately decide against it. After all, it's not about you. In proper bounty hunter form, you spot a business opportunity.

"Sorry man, I was starving. Haven't eaten in days. But if you see, I'm a bounty hunter. I'm looking for a man named "Shackeld" Yuto. Heard of him?"

The Marine pauses, loosening his grip. A smile spreads across his face.

"Heard of him? Ha! Hell, he caught him last month. But you're in luck. Asshole escaped a week ago, and he's set up camp in No-Mans-Land. Anyone who goes after him, or even enters his territory, hasn't res turned. We got no idea what he's doing out there, but if you get him back, the bounty's yours."

Before you can thank him, he presses you against the wall.

"Minus one berri for the fruit, got it? And if you find anything interesting on him, be sure to tell us. You might get a bit more berri out of it." He adds, with a menacing tone. He finally lets you go, and as you walk away the Marines laugh at a joke that was probably at your expense. You consider your options.

You decide it would be best to try and gather info on the man before you go off to capture and/or kill him. Hell, you don't even know why they call him "Shackled" Yuto. When it comes to information, populated areas are often the best, but rumors can often be unreliable. You can think of a few good places to start.

Bars tend to be the kind of place where the kind of info you're looking for gravitates. You make your way back to the docks and to the bar, which is surprisingly less seedy than the bars in your hometown. But seedy nonetheless. The bar is being manned by a elderly gentleman polishing a glass. He turns to you as you sit down at one of the stools.

"What do ya want, kid?"

"Do you know anything about Yuto? I'm a bounty hunter, see."

"Yer after Yunto too? Jeez, I just had another group a' hunters in her no less that an hour ago. Guess a bounty of 18,000,000 will do that. Anyway, only one guy came back from trying to get that man alive. Said they found Yuto near the southern shore, single-handily digging a canal for whatever reason"

"Do you know we're I can find the survivor?"

"Don't bother. He died of a punctured lung that night. Listen kid, I doubt I'll be able to talk you out of this, but take this rice cake. You look like a skeleton." He hands you the cake, and you manage to eat half of it with one bite.

"Thanks." You say, garbled by your full mouth.

"Don't mention it." The old man says before attending to more customers. Eating the rest of the rice cake as you walk out the door, you think about how dangerous of a man Yuto sounds like. But 18,000,000 could feed your family for months. It really wasn't an option.

Alright anons, that's all I'll post for now. I'll try and finish this arc tomorrow at 12:30 am, UTC. Comment any questions, comments, or complaints, and I'll try to get to them before we restart tomorrow.

As the green foliage and lush trees slowly disappear replaced by dark mud and singed shrubs, the landscape of Big Bean becomes much more clear to you. You can just barely see the treetops of another jungle far in the distance, but you can also here the faint noises of gunfire and explosions happening somewhere in this gigantic battlefield. A few black pillars of smoke float up into the sky. You keep moving forward, making sure the southern coast stays close to your left side. The sound of the waves hitting the shore is somewhat calming. Your stomach rumbles again, and you place your hand over it in an effort to ease the pain. It doesn't help.

After trudging for another half mile or so of crater-ridden earth you spot a strange site ahead of you. It looks vaguely like a man with his feet spread and his arms held above his head, making him seem frozen in an "X" position. After taking a few steps more, the grisly truth hits you. He's been bound to a wooden cross. You cant tell if he's even alive, but he certainly isn't moving. Regardless of his condition, you realize that if what the old bartender said was right, the poor guy probably marks the boundary to Yuto's territory.

What do you do?
>Call out to him
>Approach with caution
>Try and stealth the rest of the way
>Toss a nail at him
>Try and circle around, entering from a different side.

I'll post a few of them. Understand that 20 original devil fruits is a lot to make up, and I realized that I may have to use them for future characters. I'll tell you guys about one of the two Logias that were there, the Mythical Zoan, and a few of the Parmecias that I liked.

I think I like that idea more. You can surprise us later by using them for other characters, and have it as a sort of "call back." I.E. 'that guy is #17' or so on. Also negates the potential to powergame too much when we know what fruits might come up. That's way more interesting than just giving out your brainstorming.

You decide to keep going forward, but with no small amount of caution. As you move ever closer, the status of the bound man becomes obvious. He's covered in wounds, all of which seem to be caused by some sort of club. His clothing, a white button up shirt and jeans, is stained with a mixture of blood and dirt. He's wearing a hat featuring a grinning with bones that form a "W" behind it. One of the eyes is just a slit, giving the apearence of a winking skull. From his chest movements, you can see that he's breathing. Barely. He is however definitely unconscious.

What do you do?
>Ignore him and push forward
>Unbind him and try and treat his wounds
>Wake him up and question him, but don't free him

Since this guy you have no idea who this guy is, it's probably best you just wake him up instead of freeing him. It takes a few pokes and slaps, but he eventually comes to. he spits a little blood, but generally looks relieved.

"Wha- Oh thank God! I thought I was done for! If you could just let me out of her-"

"Not so fast. What exactly happened?"

"Yuto, he just came outta no where. We didn't have any time. I don't know if anyone else survived."

"Who exactly is 'we'?"

"You can't tell by the hat? We're a part of Wink's Troupe. Its like an alliance of bounty hunters, pirates, and assassins. One of my friends had a portable Den Den Mushi. If you could untie me and call them if you find it, we'll make it worth your while."

"Yea, I'll find the Den Den Mushi for you. But what exactly are the kind of people in Wink's Troupe? Any high bounties? I wouldn't want to join up with amateurs." you say, at which he becomes slightly flustered.

"Well... I'm sure that Wink and his inner circle have a combined bounty of over 200,000,000. But if your thinking of doing anything, don't."

"Why's that?"

"Rumor has it he's under the protection of one of the Seven Warlords. But it's off the books, so he doesn't get official protection."

"Well this has been illuminating. See you soon!" you say as you start walking forward. Turning his neck as best he can, he calls out to you.

"Wait a second man! aren't you gonna untie me? I might die!"

"If you survived this long, I'm sure you can survive a bit longer. I'll help you when I get back." He persists in calling out to you, but you drown him out. His whining eventually stops, either because you put enough distance between the two of you or because he simply realized how useless it was.

Eventually, you come across a huge ditch in the earth, with simple dam of stones, mud, and sticks holding the tide at bay. A small amount of water has managed to trickle it's way through, however, forming a small creek at the bottom of the ditch. It looks like the old man was right. Down the winding canal, you can spot what looks like a ship. You can spot some movement nearby, but not enough to tell what is happening.

How do you approach?

By the way, can we "prep" or pre-half-pin a nail? we should try prepping a nail on our sword, which will look weird but if we have to exchange blows we could catch someone else's sword/arm and I'm sure everyone can figure out the rest.

Also, damn. No betrayal bounties for us. But I guess that means we'd get some protection too if we joined?

Seeing as you have recently lost the ability to swim, going through a saltwater creek that could become a raging saltwater river might not be the best idea.

Sneaking crouched as you near the ship, you realize just how poorly made this canal was dug. It's like a child made a moat for a sandcastle, but scaled up to a much larger size. As you get closer, you get a much better veiw of the ship. It's about the size of a galleon, with a bird as the figurehead. The ship's cabin looks like an actual cabin, with a tile roof and everything. Overall, the ship is pretty damaged, but it doesn't have any visible holes that would prevent it from being seaworthy. A tattered Jolly Roger featuring a skull with bird legs instead of crossbones, sharp teeth, and braided hair flutters on the top mast.

Lumbering nearby, you get your first good look at Yuto. He's almost as tall as the ship itself, with an obese body and disproportionally long arms. He's still wearing a pinstriped prisoner's uniform, with iron shackles that seem to have been welded onto his wrists and ankles. From some scars and calluses around them, you can tell they've been there a very, very long time. You understand where he got his name. Yuto appears to be trying to push the ship intto the canal by using a log as a lever. A pile of broken logs lie in the mud nearby. After straining for a while with no progress, he screams, throws the log on the ground, and swings his arm down on it. It snaps in half. Those shackles must provide a lot of extra force.

Realizing what he's done, Yuto sits on the ground and starts bawling, tears stream big down his ugly face. He tears out a few clumps of his platinum blonde hair. A mix of tears and snot makes there way into his mouth, which is lined with sharp teeth.

"MAMA YAGA! BIG BRO OGRE! BIG BRO RICO! WHY'D YOU GUYS LEAVE ME?" He continues crying like this; he doesn't seem to have noticed you. Despite his giant size, Yuto doesn't seem that menacing at all. He just seems like a big baby.

What do you do?

Well, this isn't what you expected at all. You expected somone a lot more... sinister for a bounty as high as his. Instead you have a giant man-child. Since he seems to be still a toddler mentally, you figure you might be able to talk with him.

"Hey buddy, what's wrong?" You say in a kind, caring voice honed from taking care of your sisters back home. He starts replying, with out looking up.

"I W-WANNA FIN-FIND MY MAMA AND MY BIG BRO AND MY OTHER BIG BRO BUT I CANT GET MAMA'S OLD SHIP INTO THE CANAL WATER!" He shouts. It honestly hurts your ears a little.

What do you say?

"Well don't worry! When and where did you last see them?" He pauses for a moment and starts to count his fingers.

"Lessee..." he says in a much lowers voice. He seems to have calmed down a bit. "'Bout 7 and a half years ago, Mama got in a fight with a bad Marine man. He threw her ship all the way here. Mama and my big bros tried to help me get out in time, b-but it was too late. It took me a looooong time to find the ship, and more mean Marine men and bounty -" he stops suddenly and turns to you. His face is much more menacing now. "You wanna put me back in jail, don't you? I'll hafta break you. Already broke a few mean people today."

What do you say?
>"No no no, I was just passing by!"
>"Actually, your family sent me to find you!"

"Lets talk about something else." You try to hide how nervous you are. "What did you do with the other mean men?" At this, Yuto's face lights up.

"Oh, wanna see?" he says, obviously proud of what he has done. "I made big warnings outa the ones that were still talkin, but the ones that stopped moving I made into a nice pretty present for Mama." Yuto rummages for something behind the pile of logs, and shows you a bunch of bodies with ropes tied to there limbs like puppets. Surprising, there's very little blood. Dispite his size, Yuto seems to handle them fairly carefully. one of the bodies has a hat like the one one other guy, and a Den Den Mushi is in a holster on his hip. "Mama Yaga always thought my little puppets were so cute. What do you think?"

What do you say?

He looks down, and gingerly picks it off the body and is about to toss it to you before the scowl returns to his face.

"Wait a minute, you didn't answer my question. Are you gonna try and put me in jail or not? Don't try and lie to me now, I'm very smart." He's staring daggers at you now

What will you say?

Although Yuto is definitely not... normal, his strength could be a major asset to you. And besides, you could always turn him in for that reward.

"Don't worry Yuto, I want to help you find your mother." He smiles at this, calmed by your words. "Do you think she could be were the Marines are keeping everybody?"

"Nope! Already checked there last month. 'Sides, my Mama's the great Baba Yaga, and my big bros Ogre and Rico wouldn' let those mean marines lay a finger on her!" He says, chuckling at the thought. "I just don' want them to be mad if I come back without Mama's ship! It hurts when Mama gets angry..."

You recognize the name Baba Yaga. Back when your mother read you the daily newspaper, you remember one of the reccuring. "Sea Witch" Baba Yaga was a dreaded pirate in the South Blue. Infamous for using chemical weapons to raid entire fleets and ships, she was only stopped by a Marine Admiral after she entered the Grand Line, although her body was never recovered. If Yuto is really her son, that would explain why his bounty is so high. And bringing him in would definitely help you make a name for yourself.

What do you do?

You turn back to Baba Yuto, suppressing a sly grin. "Hey, Yuto, I got a great idea. Back in town, I've got some equipment that will help me get your Mama's ship into the water." He smiles even wider.

"Well, why don't we go get it?"

"See, now that's the problem. I don't actually have-have it, the Marines do. They have it locked up in their base. But that's where you come in. Do you know what a Devil Fruit is?" Yuto nods quietly. "See, I ate the Nail Nail Fruit, and now I'm a Nail Man. I can make these nails that make it look like your my prisoner, but really its just a way to get you into the base. Then at night, I'll bust you out, and we can go get your Mama's ship! That sound like a deal?" Yuto thinks for a moment, as he is visibly strained whilst he is trying to process the details of your 'plan'. After finally deciding it works out for him, he extends his hand to shake it. You oblige, and nearly break your fingers in the process.

"Oh, I almost forgot! Here's that snail you wanted!" Yuto hands you the Den Den Mushi. As you look at it, he pipes up again. "Hey, wats your name anyways?"

"It's Raine Wave." you answer. This seems to make Yuto laugh for some reason

"Hu, that's a funny name." You ignore him and consider your options.

"Okay." he replies, before going back to fiddling with his 'puppets'.

On your way over to him, you press the button on the the side of the snail's shell, and it begins to make a strange "Bero" noise. After awhile, the snail makes a noise that seems to indicate someone has picked up the line. You here somebody speaking through the snail.

"Is that you Jacobs? Pleeeeeease tell me you managed to get that brute Yuto for Uncle Wink." the voice sounds like a man doing a bad impression of a woman pretending to be a man.

What do you say?

"No, this is somebody else. As far as I know, only one person in your little group actually survived. How much would you be willing to give for him, huh?" a long, stressful pause follows your statement before the silence is broken by laughter.

"Pahahahahah! On the contrary my boy, I should be asking you to do the opposite. Uncle Wink hates weakness in his little troupe, so if you could just do us a gigantic favor and kill him, that would be great. Ta-Ta!" You are left with an "Ca-chink" noise and the snail goes back to sleep. You look up, and realize you've almost reached the tied up man. Before you can even get in a postion to face him, he hears your footsteps.

"Is that you kid? Thought I heard a Den Den Mushi. What did they say?"

I will be picking things back up again in a new thread on Wednesday at 1:30 PM UTC. For now, let me tell you about some of the other DFs.

One of the two Logias gave you the ability to transform into tree sap, which would have had a focus on switching between solid and viscus liquid.
There was also a mythical Zoan that let you turn into a gargoyle with nearly impenetrable skin and wings
There was also a Paramecia that let the user create drills, and another one that let them turn anything into a "chest"
The one non-canon fruit I was gonna use was Bill's Smelt Smelt Fruit, mainly because i thought the idea of eating the weapons of marines and then spewing molten metal at them would be cool.
>>
>>878788
;-; Those all sound cool besides the Tree sap. God damn it.

Glad we avoided tree sap. It may have been interesting but it would've been weird to be basically the most nightmarish sticky grossness person imaginable. Even snot is better than sap.

Would've been able to caulk our own ship though.
