“... okay, here's the damage.”

You called in Hilda Slutsky, your finance officer in incredibly early in the morning to help manage the costs of last match, and the matches before it. She stoically counts things off for you, with only a “tsk tsk” or a “hmmm” to signal really big costs. You and Iris sat down in Griselda's office, with Griselda herself being forcibly taken care of at Gertrude's dorm. Griselda her assured you she'll be staying her for the week, mostly to get away from her sister and her care however.

So for now, you were taking advantage of things before they got ugly. “3.2 million dollars,” she says.

“What.” Iris can't believe it. You can't believe. “What costs 3.2 million dollars?”

“Let me describe it,” says Hilda. “The engine of the King Tiger is completely ruined, the turret ring also needs to be fixed, the suspension was also busted, transmission needs to be replaced, etc. Panzer IV needs fixing as well from the damage it took last game and the game before, the Panzer III's upgrade needs to come through, the Henschel Turret is also reserved but hasn't been bought. Your Cromwell needs fixing as well to repair the damage from the set. The Jagdtiger also-”

“Okay, you don't need to say anymore,” you say. “... How deep in the hole does that put the team?”

“-2.5 million dollars,” she says. “She wasn't rich before, but this match plus the outstanding due dates for some loans is going to eat the money she has already earned. She took out loans from the bank before the tournament started to get money for repairs. But, she's risking defaulting on them if she doesn't get them paid by this weekend.”

“How much?” asks Iris.

“1 million,” says Hilda.

“And the upgrades as a whole?”

“If I were you, I'd hold off on upgrading the tanks and put them into the team's budget,” says Hilda. “Because right now, the team's budget is barely floating as is.” Damn it. There's a knock at the door.

Oh shit. Griselda. She pokes her head in. “So.” She smiles a little, rubbing her back while her arm sits on a sling. “How are things?” She doesn't know. Uh...

Dear lord...guess the Comet is out of the question for...a while...

You sigh. “Um. It's alright. I mean, things could be worse but they're not all that great either.” Griselda quirks her brow, then steps up to the desk. “I wouldn't uh... look at the receipt if I were you.” She swipes the receipt from Hilda, then takes a look.

“Griselda?” You tilt your head. “Griselda, are you-” She slowly starts to fall backward. “Griselda!”

Denise opens up the door, a pillow and a tray of coffee for everybody. “Coffee and- OH MY GOD!” She shoves the coffee into Iris' hands and then dives for a falling Griselda. Just in time, she places the pillow underneath Griselda's head before it slams into the floor. “Woo! That was close.”

You stand up. “Griselda?”

“... you've got to be fucking kidding me,” she mutters. “How am I supposed to pay for this?”

Hilda shrugs. “First thing I'd do is pay off the loans. Your sponsorship money will come by later today and we can work from there but if you default on your payment this month, the bank is going to start repoing your tanks.” Griselda nods, understanding. “I can probably scrounge together some money as well, but not enough to put more than a dent in this outstanding loan.”

“Right. Right.” Griselda is helped up by Denise, who gently walks her to the bed. “This is just... the worst.” She looks at you. “Well, I assume you gotta get to work then, Ellie. I'll be working on how to fix this later.”

Like there's another option. We should see about stealing our staff today.

“Are you sure?” asks Griselda. You nod. “Well. Guess I can't stop you.” She settles down in bed, making sure to keep her injured arm up and away from anything solid. “So. Here's what I want then. We need a fundraiser of some kind either this week or today, I don't care. But we need people to donate to the team. We need money, I don't care how we get it as long as we don't steal it. Okay?”

“Alright,” you all say.

“Good. Good.” Griselda sighs, leaning back. “Goddamn, I'm tired. I need to rest.”

Denise smiles. “I'll get you something to drink.” She quickly leaves the room.

“Iris.” Iris stands straight at being called. Griselda says to her, “Iris. I want you to comb the team for cash. Tell them upfront what our financial situation is.” She nods, leaving the room as well. “Hilda, you uh... you do finance stuff I guess.”

“Yeah, finance stuff.” Hilda goes back to her papers.

“And Ellie. Do what you see fit, I trust you,” Griselda says.

Alright. What to do then?

You find Kathy at the LGA Museum, where she is busy wiping the glass on each exhibit. “Hey, hey, hey!” Around her are her many dogs, who obediently sit and wait for her commands. “It's nice to see you, Ellie! That business with the nuke was real crazy, huh?”

“Are there more nukes?” you ask.

“Huh?” She quirks her brow. “I mean- I don't think so. I guess it was kind of bad that we only got 20k out of it but at least they wiped my arrest from my permanent record so it doesn't affect my college resume.” Yeah, that is pretty nice of them.

“Kathy, I need to make a couple million dollars by the end of this week, at least one million.” Her eyes widen at the thought of that much money. “You are... well, you're not my only hope but you're one of my most obvious solutions.”

“Why don't you just open a lemonade stand?”

“I considered it,” you say. “But come on. There has to be something we can find for the museum. Anything!”

She scratches her chin, thinking on it. “Well. There is...” She waves it off. “Nah, you're too soft for it.”

“Tell me,” you say.

She smirks, obviously you're now enraptured by the potential for a lot of money. “Okay, you didn't hear this from me.” She leans closer, whispering to you. “But, rumor is, is that there's buried treasure out in the Mount Montagne wilderness worth millions in gold coins. It used to belong to the original founder of Lafayette Girls Academy, and he hid all that gold and cash in order to keep it from his heirs who were total piles of shit.”

“Well, can we find it?” you ask.

“It's probably out there,” she says. “But...” You and her look at one of the museum curators as she walks by, whistling to herself. “We might run into some competition. Lots of folks like to scour the woods for easy treasure.”

“How come you haven't told me this earlier?” you ask.

“Too much competition,” she says. “You got girls from Naval Studies Logistics looking for it, you've got General Studies kids looking for it too.” She hisses. “And then you have the Hall Monitors...”

“... do you have that much beef with the police?”

“Look. I get arrested for trespassing a lot, of course I do.” She squints at you. “Now, you can go ahead and start scouting. But be on the lookout. If people find out you're after that treasure... there's no telling the unspeakable horrors they'll do to you.”

“Like what?”

“... okay, people don't actually die or get hurt, but you will get humiliated. Comprende?”

You asked Denise to come and pick you and one of Kathy's dogs up. “Awwww, little boy!” Denise nuzzles her nose against the black and white colored Border Collie named Vic. “Awww, you're just adorable!” Vic responds by licking Denise's face, whining happily. “Heehee! Doggy, doggy!”

You arrive at the Mount Montagne wilderness. The team hasn't been here in quite some time since that rainstorm hit LGA, forcing you all to move back into the Tank Hangar. Things seemed to have remained unchanged, though the park rangers (a subset of Hall Monitors) tell you that the Tankery team is always welcome back.

“Say.” You ask one of the Park Rangers. The both of them have freckles on their faces with brunette ponytails, and wear khaki blouses on top of their dark blue miniskirts with black tights and thick leather gloves. And as for hats, they wear large brown wide brimmed hats with the LGA logo on the front. “Have any of you seen people go into the wilderness lately?”

“Aye,” says one of them. “The wee treasure hunters have been scooping out the fooking forest for weeks now. Some business about a treasure or something.”

“They dinnae do much except scope round with metal detectors though,” says the other one. “It's a pucklie of real vicious people, including that there Kathy person with all them cute dugs.”

“By the way. Stay outta the northern end by the mountain,” says the first Park Ranger. “We got some crazies out there, dinna ken, not seen them, Hall Monitors won't go near 'em for some mad reason or sumfink.”

“What is it?” you ask.

They shrug. “Dunno. Lots of mad girls or something. Some kind of survival club, probably some hippy refugee what likes to spend the day dogging, shooting, and hooring out, aye?” Um. Okay, you'll keep that in mind then.

Right. Where to search then?

You, Denise, and Vic scout around the northern edge of the forest of Mount Montagne. On the horizon is the artificial mountain itself, casting a shadow over the wilderness in midday. You have to admit, you're not used to jungle trekking like this. You're a city girl, not an explorer. But you feel confident enough in your own abilities for now. For now, you also had a metal detector, which made you confident that you might find the treasure in good time as well.

And you feel confident enough to maybe negotiate with the crazies.

“Ah!” Dennise screams, points something out ahead. “Look!”

On a stake planted in a clearing is a warning. It's a flag made of girls panties flapping in the wind, at least ten in total of different patterns and colors. Below it is a sign. “TURN BACK OR WE TAKE THE SKIRT TOO”.

Who the fuck are these people?

You keep going. “W-... wait, Ellie!” Denise follows with you. “Wh- what happens if they catch us?”

“We'll be fine,” you say. “They're probably just trying to scare us.”

Denise grabs your arm, zooming around the increasingly denser and denser jungle. “I- I mean... I don't want my panties stolen and be forced to walk around in the buff! What if they take my bra too!? AAAH!” she screams.

“Quiet!” you whisper to her. “You're going to give us away.” She nods, nerves obviously getting to her. “Now listen, I-”

You don't get to finish that sentence, because the next thing you know, you're upside down hanging by a rope. It happened in a near instant, you tripped a trap and now you're hanging by your leg from a tree. You hold up your skirt, trying to preserve your modesty as you hang there. “Ellie!” Denise screams.

“I'm fine,” you say. Vic barks, jumping up at you. Not a big fall. “Just cut me down.”

“O- okay!” Denise hurries to find the rope attaching you to the tree. You hear some birds call in the distance. “Okay, I found the rope.”

You hear some bushes rustling. Uh. “D-... Denise, could you hurry up?”

“I'm trying, I don't have a knife! I gotta untie it!” she yells.

You look to your side to see some leaves falling to the ground slowly. Someone was just there. You swing yourself side to side. “D-... Denise!”

“What!?”

“On second thought, just keep doing what you're doing, Denise.” Another bird call. Oh God, they're closing in! “Just do it quickly, Denise.” Stay calm, keep the skirt up, don't expose yourself or anything. Oh man, if Griselda could see you now. If your crew could see you now! It's a good thing they're at work!

You're cut loose, and you quickly go falling to the ground. You let your back take the brunt of the impact, then roll over and stand up. “Haha!” Denise grins, stepping out from behind the tree. “I got you free! Now let's get the heck out of here and-”

They pop up from around the bushes. You're suddenly surrounded on all sides by at least five or six girls. They point paintball versions of real guns at you. One of them is spinning up a paintball minigun, handheld at the hip and strapped to her chest. They're covered in green camo paint and wear dull green fatigues, almost as if they just walked out of the Vietnam War. Vic wags his tail, growing at each and everyone of them.

“Um.” You smile at them. “Greetings.” Oh for fucks sake. “My name's Elodie Zumwalt. I'm an Officer with Naval Studies. And you must be the people who live here! Haha! Ehehe...” They stare at you, their trigger fingers itching to fill you full of paint. “... um. Listen, we're looking for buried treasure around here, so if you could help us. That would be great.”

“Smoke 'em!” yells one of them.

“Noooo!” Denise immediately dives in front of you, soaking up every paint ball projectile aimed at you surprisingly. “AAAHH! OW OW! AAGH! THAT HURTS MORE THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD!” She yelps, jumping up in pain while you duck for cover, aiming to run off.

“Get them, Vic!” you yell. Vic runs at the nearest girl.

Who immediately pulls a dog treat from her vest, then holds it out for Vic. Vic stops in his track, whining and rolling on the ground for her. “Good boy,” she says as she neutralizes him effectively. Goddamn it, Kathy!

The two of you run for it back into the clearing where the warning was issued. The girls keep pursuing you, firing off their guns, yelling and hollering like a bunch of savages! THEY'VE LOST THEIR MINDS! Coming into the clearing now was Kathy with one of her dogs. “Hey! What are you guys-”

Kathy squints at you. “What?”

“Look at what they did to Denise!” Denise looks like she walked right out of a Mr. Bean skit where he blows up the paint can with dynamite to paint a room, except multicolored.

“Whoa!” Kathy looks at Denise up and down. “You look the absolute balls, Denise.”

“I was thinking of dying my hair,” she says. “I'm not anymore.”

Kathy huffs. “Well.” Her dogs bark and growl. “I'm not about to let a bunch of crazies ruin a day out of treasure hunting! I'm going to-” She's hit square in the center of the face by a paintball. “OW! FUCKER!” She holds her face. “AAAH!”

“There the bastards are!” yells one of the crazies. They pop out of forests, firing wildly at you. “You get back here, Ol' Painless is waiting!”

“FUCK THIS, RUN!” yells Kathy. All of you bolt for the edge of the wilderness, dodging paintball fire left and right. They hoot and holler loudly as they pursue.

-

“Wow.” The Park Rangers stand by their ATVs, looking at the lot of you. You didn't get any paint on you thanks to Denise. Kathy did, a little bit. Denise, a lot. “Look at these fooking guys.”

“I haven't seen so many colors since the UN came into town,” says the other one.

Kathy wipes the paint out of her eyes, then looks to you and Denise. “... I think we should chalk this one as a loss.” The three of you stand by the Kettenkrad. “It's clear they own that forest.”

“Everyone!” You quickly run into the Tank Hangar to find a line of people outside of Griselda's office, but that's not important right now. What is important is that you're assembling the Tankery team together. “Everyone! Listen up!” They all come gathering around. “There are some crazy girls in the woods, and we need to load up some paintball rounds and go shoot them up!”

“Yeah!” Patton is the only who readily accepts that. “Let's do it! Le-” She sees everyone's confused faces. “Fuck are you all on about?”

Iris says, “Is it that important?”

“Maybe,” you say. “But look what they did to Denise!” You pull Denise up, who is still covered in paint. Everyone gasps in awe and shock.

“My God!” says Dalia. “Denise has a family!”

“They brutalized her!” says Regina. “That's not cricket!”

“Poor Denise!” Winona quickly hugs her, getting some still wet paint on herself. “Aww, we'll remember you, always!”

“... I'm still alive,” says Denise.

“I say we take our tanks and get in there and show them what for!”

“... okay. Which tanks are still working?” you ask.

Oleg walks up. “The Cromwell is good to go. Panzer III is A-OK. The Sherman as well works, because you know, Sherman. The Pershing also works as well as does the Churchill. Other than that, everything is still under repairs,” he says. Oh. So half the team then. “So if you're taking the tanks, please do not push them too hard.”

> Take the tanks

You muster a posse of tanks along with pretty much the entire team as dismounted infantry. You grab some paintball guns that Miss McPherson had stocked up and head back to the woods. “Um.” Kathy sits next to you as you ride in the Cromwell's command hatch. “This is all rather explosive, don't you think?”

Stack says, “Nobody shoots up the Commander and gets away with it!” yells Stack.

“Except the boys I guess,” says Winona. Everyone shrugs in agreement at that. Jane starts playing music over the loudspeaker.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIoKr9VDg3A

You arrive at the woods. Iris takes the lead, with the dismounted Automotive Clubs taking the lead to screen the area ahead for traps. You drive behind Iris, with the Panzer III behind you, then the Sherman piloted by Hadley and Griselda's crew, and then the Poles in the Pershing. “This is just like the Vietnam War!” yells Suvorov.

“Yeah, I feel like Carlos Hathcock or Basil Plumley,” says Clausewitz. “Or even...” The historians all look in to their obviously Vietnamese crewmember. “Ehehe... sorry, Giap.”

“None taken,” says Giap happily.

As you enter deeper into the woods, everyone starts to get tense. Kathy holds onto your tank for dear life, paintball mask coming down over her face. “Make no mistake,” you call. “They're out there.” You hear a whistle through the trees, either the wind or them spotting you. Considering you're in five tanks crushing trees and branches beneath your treads, probably the latter. But no matter, this is a show of force. The attack on your personal assistant will not be toler-

You see a bright flash to the front.

The Churchill is suddenly splatted with black paint to the front. Their engine stops completely, as the simulated damage appears substantial enough to cause the judging device to go off and pop the white flag.

> KO: IRIS BLACKBOURNE (Churchill IV “James”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: 88mm FLAK 37 TOWED GUN

“Well. This is lovely,” says Iris.

“What the hell was that!?” yells Benny. All the automotive club kids are hugging the dirt, surprised by the sudden attack. Everyone is immediately lit by paintball guns from both directions. “AH! WE'RE GETTING SHOT UP!”

“Hold your ground!” yells Serafina.

“This is nuts!” screams Serina. She's pelted by paintballs to the butt and the legs. “Ah! Ah! Fuck! I knew wearing skirts is terrible! I'm out of here!” The Motorcycle Club immediately bolts for it. When they bolt for it.

“Come back, cowards!” yells Suvorov. “They're-” Suvorov is nailed in the head by a paintball. “Ow! Fucker!” She turns down, hurrying to close the hatch. You're stuck in a column formation now with paintballs coming all around you. The Churchill is blocking a decent shot at that towed gun too. Smoke bombs suddenly start to come out, panicking more of the dismounted infantry.

“THOSE COWARDS!” screams Regina. “THEY FIGHT FROM THE-” She's pelted by paintballs. “Ah! Fuck, fuck!” She dives for cover.

“Attack, attack!” you yell. You load in paintball rounds into the .50 and start pounding away in the general direction of that Flak gun. You see more silhouettes run around in the woods, blasting paintballs at your girls as they dive and duck for cover around the tanks. “Dang it, you're supposed to be screening us, not using us for cover!”

“We're tankers, not infantry!” yells Ariel.

“We've never had to do anything like this! You said there wasn't going to be any resistance!” yells Dalia.

“I never said that!” you shout back. You're suddenly plonked in the head by a paintball round.

“You're all a bunch of cowards if you run!” says Serafina. “I won't ever forgive it!”

“I can't see what's going on!” screams Hadley. “WHAT'S GOING ON!?”

Jane hops up onto the Sherman. “If I had my stereoset, I'd blast them out with music alone!”

Another flak around paints a tree, splattering paint on the Automotive Fan Club. They all scream, covered in bright pink and purple paint. “Aaah! They got us!” screams Dalia. “They can have the Cubans, we're out of here!” The Fan Club makes a break for it.

> “GET OFF MY TANK!”

You are so done with this shit. “GET OFF MY TANK!” You scream to her. She means to drop the balloons down on you. Nope! You reach up and grab the pins on her grenades. She looks down in surprise at that. Didn't see that coming, huh!? You jump out of the hatch and push her off. She falls off the tank and lands with a thud on the ground. Then her grenades explode, splattering her with green paint. You jump down and grab her in an armlock around her neck. “ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT!” You bring her to the front, she's probably still stunned from the paint, so you don't have a lot of time. “STOP. SHOOTING!” you scream.

The shooting stops. And with that, the crazed girls all poke their heads up out of the bushes, looking at you. They even turn the Flak so the crew can take a look. All in all, about twenty girls.

Twenty girls besting almost fifty with five tanks. Ugh. “Now listen up!” you yell. “We're going to do this clean, and we're going to do this like -civilized- people! First off, I want you to hand over the treasure! And I won't...” Uh. The girl you have armlocked looks at you, as if expecting something. Um. You grab a pen from your breast pocket, then hold it at her throat. “I won't mark her! It's permanent, very hard to get off! Okay!?”

“Treasure?” asks one of the girls. She wears a boonie while wielding what appears to be a paintball M14 variant with a scope. “What treasure?”

“What?” You squint at her. “Th-... there's a treasure around here! It's a chest of gold worth over a million dollars! That treasure! Aren't you guarding it!? Why would you fight so hard if you weren't!?”

“Well, we don't have a treasure.” asks another girl. She holds her hand up. “We are the Survivalist Club. Our goal is to facilitate the training of one's body and one's mind for the inevitable nuclear apocalypse.” Inevitable? She steps out of the bush. “But lately, things have been bad for us because lots of amateur treasure hunters have been scoping around our woods, scaring off our wildlife, trampling our gardens looking for that treasure!”

Winona pokes her head out. “So you shoot people with paintballs and steal their panties?”

“Yeah,” they all say.

“Now, we left your club alone because all you did here was camp, and that's fine,” says the girl. “But we won't tolerate people who have no respect for these woods.” She steps up to you. You notice she has the same tanned skin as the girl you have captive, but she wears a red bandana over her forehead, along with a folded ponytail like hers. She folds her arms, obviously showing off her muscular form to you. “Though. Since you fought so hard just to get that money. You must be in dire straits.” She points to the girl. “Let her go. And we'll talk about this like -civilized- people.”

> Let the girl go.

“Drop the guns first,” you say. “Then I'll let her go.” The girl nods, then calls for the others to lay down their arms. Everyone relaxes, slinging their weapons or otherwise pointing them down at the ground. You gently let go of the paint covered girl, who rubs a lot of paint of her eyes then steps to the side. “Alright.”

“What do you need that much money for anyway?” asks who you assume to be their leader.

“My Tankery team is in financial trouble. We need the money to help pay off a loan, otherwise we'll default on it and they'll start repoing the tanks. My name is Elodie Zumwalt. I'm the second in command there.”

“I'm Schaefer. My girls call me Duchess.” Huh. Interesting nickname. “I run the club. These girls here are the Survivalist Club, those hard enough to be recruited by me to live in these woods and prepare for the future! At least until we graduate.”

Iris steps up. “We need to find that treasure before the end of the week. Is it possible that you could help us?”

“Well, if you think that we have the treasure, you're dead wrong,” says Duchess. “Incredibly dead wrong. We mostly keep to ourselves north of Montagne, and any treasure hunters who wander into our territory we very quickly scare off.” She keeps her arms folded, still in a bit of a show of power. “And as temping as a million dollars sound. We're not interested in that much money anyway.”

“Why not?” you ask.

“Money has worth in the future,” says one of the girls. “We're stocking up on potential post-apocalyptic currency such as bottlecaps, bullet casings, anything that's durable and also relatively abundant but also attractive to the eye.”

“Exactly,” says Duchess. “But tell you what. I'm feeling nice today. We'll let you search these woods if and only if it's just a party of two. You and that treasure hunter friend we caught you with earlier, we know her, Kathy.” Everyone mutters and groans at that name. “She's not very welcome here.” You won't even ask why. “Otherwise, your tanks and your crews will have to leave.”

“We're reasonable,” says Duchess. “But don't scare off any of our animals, we like to hunt deer here for food. And don't burn, crush, or destroy any trees. Other than that, we're square. We'll be open to help you out more if you need it. If you need maps, go ahead and ask.” You look back, smiling at your crews.

Yep. Productive day today.

The next several hours were spent eliminating possible locations. It was way past dinner time now with the sun starting to set. But now however, you were getting close. You started off eliminating areas the early treasure hunters had already combed over. Then you set about to work dividing it up between you and Kathy (who had sheepishly come back after being apparently forced back by the Poles). Between the two of you and a pack of dogs, you were able to scour the forests of Mount Montagne quite handily.

Until now. You narrowed it down to a little cave no more than a meter wide in the side of the mountain. Kathy pokes her head in, flashing a light beside her head as she scans around. “Anything?” you ask.

“... not really,” she says. “Wait.” You blink. “Wait. Yeah, I see something! Get the pickaxe!” One of the unfortunate things about this treasure hunting and the deal with the Survivalists? Having to carry the equipment yourself. Not even Denise was allowed to come, shame. You grab it then let Kathy step back. You smash the cave open, with Kathy grabbing a shovel and bashing away more rock as well. Finally, you create a hole big enough for you to place your arm in, then pull out.

It's a hulking treasure chest, like out of the movies. It's sealed tight with a padlock as well.

“This is it... the ultimate treasure!” Kathy grabs your arms, grinning. “Ellie, if we do this.”

“I know,” you say. You look down at it. “Okay. Here we go.” You smash the padlock out, then open up the chest. No dillydallying. Let's see that money!

You and Kathy stare at all the gold inside of the chest. “... how much is this all worth?” Gold coins for days, dollars from the 1930s, even a solid gold ingot as well.

“Um. Got to be worth at least half a million, maybe three quarters of a million after taxes,” says Kathy in shock.

[1/2]
>>
>>873751
[2/2]

“Well, good!” You grin, picking up a coin. Wait. This does not feel like gold at all. You tap it against the chest, and it immediately splits into an uneven fracture. It's brittle! “... that's not good.”

Kathy holds it up. “This isn't gold! This is Pyrite painted to look gold!” She looks at a note left inside of the chest, then quickly snatches it up.

To whoever finds this chest

If you are my sons and daughters who continue to waste my money on cars, prostitutes, guns, and other nonsense, you will find that the money inside of the chest is in fact fake. The gold coins are pyrite, absolutely worthless. And the dollars inside as well are also counterfeit. If you had intended to search for this treasure on something I have spent my livelihood on building, you will find that I have wasted your time, perhaps from beyond the grave. I will continue to laugh at you at God's side as you continue to fumble around, never learning the true value of friendship and loyalty, always blaming each other for problems in life and letting yourselves be spoiled by the money I gave you to help build your futures. All of which that you squandered.

Sincerely,
Morgan Franklin Weyland

You stand there, completely defeated. How...

Kathy frowns. “Ellie. I'm so sorry.”

“Wait.” You point something out. “What's that say?” She looks down at it.

P.S. If you are just some random treasure hunter, I do apologize. Please wire the Weyland Steel Industries if you would like to be paid the actual value of the treasure. Congratulations for my finding my treasure, and I hope you're much more mature than my five sons and daughters.

You sit in the diner with Kathy, the sun having set down for night as you all eat up a bit of burgers and fries. You dial the number for the closest thing you could find to Weyland Steel Industries over the internet: Weyland Telecommunications Corporation. You wait for the call to go through. Then... “Hello, you've reached the Weyland Telecommunications Corporation Headquarters at San Francisco, California. How can I help you?”

Kathy smiles. “Hi. My name is Kathy, my friend here is Elodie Zumwalt. We're here to call about a particular treasure that we dug up on the Lafayette Girls Academyship. A treasure from Morgan Franklin Weyland of the Weyland Steel Industries that I valued at 1.7 million dollars?” she says.

There's a silence over the line. “Um, one moment please.”

You smile back at Kathy, then decide to call up Griselda as well. “Griselda.”

“Ellie, where have you guys been? The entire team was covered in paint when they came back. Did you do something?”

“We're just helping out with finances,” you say. “I'll talk to you later once we figure out things, but we might be able to pay off our loans pretty soon.”

“Really? That's great! Okay, talk to me when you get here, okay?”

And with that, you hang up.

Finally, someone talks to you over the line. “Hello, this is Grant Horvath of Weyland TC, Legal Counsel. Did you say you dug up a treasure buried by Morgan Franklin Weyland?”

“We did. We're sending you proof now over the phone,” says Kathy. “Now listen, Weyland had it buried here to hide it from his inheritors, and just on the off-chance that they did find it, it was full of pyrite. However, the letter that we dug up also said that if any random person finds it, we'll be paid the value of the entire treasure, all 1.7 million dollars,” she says. “So how about it? We getting paid?”

“Just a second,” says Horvath.

“Okay, listen, girls. Here's the deal. The Weyland Telecommunications Company does in fact have our founder, Mister M.F. Weyland's will on legal file in case something like this ever came up. The man was always well-prepared for something like this. Yes, indeed. There is a clause in there stating that if someone did find that chest, even though functionally everything in it is worthless, the company will reimburse you.” You high five Kathy, grinning. “So tell you what. We'll pay the 1.7 million to... who do we pay it out to?”

“LGA NATO Tankery,” you say.

“Alright. We'll pay it out to your little sports team. Then we'll not discuss this again,” he says firmly. He clearly sounds apprehensive about paying up, but a will's a will it seems.

“Great! Thank you, Mister Horvath.”

“Great work!” says Kathy. You and her walk back to the Tankery HQ, which is now a little emptier now that everyone is heading to sleep. “We really did great out there, Ellie!”

“Yeah, we did. Still, there has to be more stuff we can search for, right?” says Kathy.

“Ahaha, yeah, there's a problem with that.” Kathy twiddles her fingers a bit. “See, Hall Monitors are getting antsy about me trespassing on restricted property below decks trying to find your tanks. So, between you and me. Let's not talk again for another couple of weeks. However, I can offer you some stuff in exchange for helping me. Ellie, you've been a massive help to me. You'd make a great archaeologist like me one day.”

“You're not an archaeologist.”

“I will be.” She winks at you. “Some day. But listen, Ellie. This treasure we found isn't even the tip of the iceberg. There's one last score left to claim. But I gotta lay low for a week or two, so... this is where we part ways, okay? I'll call you.” She turns around, leaving the hangar with a little wave.

One last score, huh? Hm.

We did tell her we'd talk to her later.

I'd personally like to prioritize getting the rest of the team repaired and operational first, but if we have the time and money for it afterwards, absolutely.
>>
>>874199
We have to do it by today if we want it ready for the match, we should be fine by paying out of our own pocket.
>>
>>874199
Not to mention by getting the upgrade, according to Danon, this will improve engine maintenance, which has been a bother for us the last few matches.

Before going to see Griselda, you decide to talk with Oleg about an upgrade. “Cromwell VII?” He nods, putting it down on the clipboard. “Da, we can have it ready in a week by Saturday. If you need to cancel, please do so in the next two days. Otherwise, beyond that point, you won't get your refund.”

> NOTE: If you wish to cancel your conversion, you must do so in the next two days.

And with that, you see Griselda. “Griselda, I-” She's surrounded by flowers, cards, boxes of presents, gifts, and everything else. You also see a few lipstick marks on her cheeks as well as she stares ahead at the wall as if she has shellshock. “What happened? What is all of this?”

“Captain Spruance came to visit. So did most of Naval Studies as well,” she says. “Rosehip came to visit too, as did Dix Hauser, and Carolina Greene, and Meryl Hoffmeister, and Salome Del Rio, she painted that portrait of me over there on the wall in fact.” You look over to see a painting of a much more dignified looking Griselda on the wall. “Maria Da Silva came to apologize as well and we talked tanks for a bit. Oryola Kuznetsov and Mackenzie King came by as well. My sister came too. And...” Griselda shrugs. “Whatever, enough about me.”

That-...

You're honestly disappointed to having missed that. Damn.

“I heard you got me 1.7 million dollars out of the hole and now we don't have to worry about loans,” she says.

“Yep.” You nod. “What do you think?”

“Today was interesting. That's probably the least surprising thing today. But hey. Thank you, Ellie. We're another step closer to getting ourselves out of this financial hole at least,” she says. You smile a bit. “I'll talk to you in the morning, I'm completely dead, everyone just took it out of me. I'm just-... I'm staggered.”

“You didn't think that many people cared, huh?”

She shrugs. “Giving me well greetings is one thing. Showing up personally to say hi. That's another. But... we can talk about it another time.” You nod. “Well, good night, Ellie.”

“Good night, Griselda.”

That's it for tonight's LGA. Sorry for the delay and incredible slow pace. I was fighting leaf based sickness from having to bag leaves without a mask cuz apparently, you're supposed to have a mask when bagging leaves and that damn near killed me.

Hopefully I'll be good tomorrow though. We'll see.

Why are we mot going straight Comet? We have the money...
>>
>>874294
I think it was because we're financially in the hole, and we will have to return the 10k loan.
>>
>>874294
We could, but that money will likely help further down the line when the team's finances are struggling again. It's just a safer option really.
>>
>>874356
Plus it'll keep down repair costs on Oliver in the future. All that applique armour is very easy to replace because it's just MQ plates that can be cut to fit in a jiffy by a skilled mechanic.
>>
>>874274
Its okay GS. This was a hilariously frustrating 1.7 million earned. So I can't really complain at all. We got ourselves out of some financial trouble and can move towards upgrades.

I like the fact that it appears that her old team mates may have payed a visit. That was a very long pause and deflection.

So whats next for tomorrow? Work/Training/making business connections for sponsors and fundrasers/calandars?

>>874356
>>874365
Not to mention we will probably need some funds to help make Nonna's quest go smoothly. Parts are cheaper that the whole deal, but they still will cost a lot.
>>
>>874274
Thanks for running Schteel btw, catch you next time.
>>
By the way, i guess infantry training for our team is in order now.
Never know if we need to do this thing again.
>>
>>874294
ultimately we will get the comet but when we're more financhally stable
>>
>>874274
Thanks for the fun, boss.

I'm sad that the boys didn't get to do CAS, but it was still fucking funny.
>>
>>874832
>boys doing CAS
These survivalist girls have a Flak cannon. If we buy it from them and find some kind of airbursting paint shell, our problems with the boys bombing us (and hopefully the boys themselves too) will be gone.

Get us the Duchess on the phone.
>>
>>874861
They will only sees it as challenge.

In other hand, i do want to as Duchess where she got the Flak. Might be handy sometimes.
>>
>>874884
We can tell her its good practice. And the joy we will have as the boys get hosed will be worth it.

Especially if she's not always there. They never know what the risk level is.
>>
>>874913
Actually, i am talking about the boys on my first sentence.
Lone Flak won't deter them much, it only gives them some challenge.
>>
>>874949
Especially a heavy AA piece like an 88mm, great when massed and used against slow, high altitude bomber formations, not so good vs fast low altitude attackers and fighter-bombers. For that kind of work you want twin or quad mount automatics in the 20-40mm range. Bofors are good, as are quad mount pom-poms or the Flak 38 quad version. Rate of fire, muzzle velocity and burst mass are key.
