Part 3 – Session 1

You're not certain whether you are comforting a sword and consoling a friend, or consoling a sword and comforting a friend. Said friend is in quite a bit of pain; while the intense arcane lightning you unleashed did not affect her, being kneed in the groin left her aching and nauseated. Tzanzi and Siobhan had been possessed, apparently in tandem, by something claiming to be one of the ancient heroes of githyanki mythology, the creator of the silver swords herself

You have doubts.

Regardless of the veracity of her claim, whatever it was marked you, and in doing so imparted incredible, impossible abilities and knowledge upon you. While this typically is a cause for pride and celebration, these powers are both alien and overwhelmingly potent. Potent enough that you suspect that they will attract the attention of those who are more powerful than you are, despite these new-found strengths. Unfortunately you don't know how well they can be hidden yet.

The research that you have ahead of you promises to be interesting, but at the moment you're stroking the long, long hair of your scarred friend as she rests her head in your lap. Siobhan is leaned along your naked body, pressed along breast and shoulder. Siobhan is a soft melody of contentment in your mind finally, while Tzanzi has moved from shock and confusion at her possession to a slowly rising wave of anger and hatred that will undoubtedly find a direction sooner or later. Not towards you; in no way can Tzanzi be called 'indiscriminate'.

Time does pass, however, and you have spent much in the den of the Murderers and Skulkers. Playing with Tzanzi will have to wait for another time you suspect; the scars you have are decoration enough, and if she loses her temper you might acquire a few more. The mark along your cheek on the other hand, is going to be a problem. The rune of The Leash with the added notation of 'broken' sis flexible and warm, but it is definitely metal, and not silver.

You were actually looking forward to bearing Tzanzi's mark, to be honest.

“What was it?”

You look down at Tzanzi and trace the sensitive scars along her left temple with gentle care. Feeling the childer-soft skin and fine white hair that grows around the marks. “Hmn?”

“What was it that possessed me. Possessed us.” Her hand slides up and down your thigh slowly, reassuring you that you're safe from any reprisal she might have on her mind.

Because it is asking whether or not you would like to add a write in, which is a properly grammatical use of that question mark since the option exists and is not enforced. Otherwise it would be a statement which is what a period would indicate, and not actually requesting or offering the possibility of a write in.

So, fellow players, do you guys think we should tell her who the presence claimed to be, or is that just something that would freak her out?

Wait, how are you doing dice?
>>
>>869745
For skills specificall, each roll is given pieces of information based on the DC of the check, or increases the effectiveness of a given action vs the DC of the check. More rolls, more potential success/effects. Degrees of success and fail apply - no skill roll will entirely screw you, even fails just create dramatic issues to be overcome.
>>
>>869647
>>869745
>>869736
But I don't know, while we should warn her that we only have the presence's word for it (which we find dubious) we should let her know what it claimed to be (assuming we didn't pass the roll enough to know definitively what it is). Like I don't feel that ignorance would protect her in this case.

I really think there's too much respect both ways to hold that information. Or at least there will be, by making that choice.

[X] Write in? I still want YOUR mark; as for the thing....well, it claims this, but....

“Hard to say. It acted like it was some kind of ghost or spiritual presence that was dead, but I have a number of doubts. Most of them stem from the fact that it claimed to be the Sword Saint herself-”

Tzanzi turns over and looks up at you incredulously.

“-but why would Gyr need such an elaborate situation to manifest? She was no less powerful than the other Elders. It seems far fetched.” You close your eyes, considering the possibilities. “If it was a ghost, truly, the psychopomps would have had to be avoided. Unless it was allowed to pass by them; the soul-eates would have been a trial for it to escape. It did not seem to be a possessing spirit, it was too goal oriented. A visitation by an agent of the gods seems more likely, and yet, why? To make the Silver Swords better? I have no religious training to cope with that concept, much less know what deities might do that.” She smiles at you, shaking her head. “What?”

“Every the scholar, even now. Your mind is truly a thing of wonder.” you frown at her, unsure if shes complimenting you or teasing. Her hand brushes your cheek, and your irritation fades. “Perhaps some being of the outer realms?”

“The only three I can think of that would have any reason two are all physical beings in their own right, not spirits of power who possess people. The thing that distresses me most is the need to possess you and Siobhan at the same time. 'The parts that are missing in each give me access'....something from the Empty Places of the Astral, the Dark Void between the Stars or perhaps even the Far Realm?” You shake your head. “I know what it claimed, but honestly I need more books, and not yours.” She loves her books, but they're tales and imaginings, rather than treatises and scholastic pursuits.

That makes her laugh a she sits up, resting her weight on her hands as she leans forward, still looking flush from the cruel method you used to chase off the possessor. You accept and return her kiss, your free hand resting against her bosom lightly, as the other holds the softly purring Siobhan steady. “Mmm. I still want your mark, you know.” She looks a little surprised. “This? This was not from you. You offered, and I want that from you.”

Her good eye studies your face, and she nods slowly. “Then you will have it....but not just now.” Tzanzi rubs her belly. “It may have worked, but it wasn't the most pleasant of experiences.”

“I sincerely hope you are not expecting an apology,” you murmur flatly, much to her amusement.

“No, Akko....but here.” She reaches over the edge of her cushions and give you one of her more decorous half masks, this one with an eye opening even though she cannot see through the eye it is open for. “You may wish to hide that, and this will serve. It is not nearly as gaudy as your bracers, but it will suit your clothing at least.” The void crystal has been burned to a glassy mirror sheen that is faintly iridescent, and then chased with gold for accents and 'make up'.

You resist the urge to thank her more intimately than a kiss, though the urge to do so is strong. An opportunity to give her a little pain is rare, but she managed to not get sick already. It would be too cruel perhaps. “Thank you Tzanzi. Recuperate and we will speak soon.” You rise, and begin to dress. She watches with appreciation undulled by the injury you inflicted. “More than speak,” you murmur, giving her a final kiss and allowing her to caress Siobhan – an act that she clearly forces upon herself, steeling herself just in case.

Tzanzi has never been ruled by fear, and you admire that in her.

It is close to the turnings that you gave Gero for finding a replacement. You also have research to do. But this mark is also incredibly worrisome, and you know of few beings you trust to ask about it....

There's one thing I'm kind of wondering. Due to being a Silver Sword and all the various... whatever the magical equivalent of programming is that went into making her, isn't Siobhan obligated to report this to... someone? Or rather, because she's aware of the mark, someone else is as well?
>>
>>869850
>The thing that distresses me most is the need to possess you and Siobhan at the same time. 'The parts that are missing in each give me access
I feel like the only thing Tzanzi is missing is psionic powers, but I'm not really sure what's missing from Siobhan besides the obvious 'corporeal body' thing.
>>
>>869853
>[] Yzia might have a clue about the mark and the power it contains.

>>869867
That was my first concern, but my assumption was less "have to report" than "the swords and the lich queen immediately know everything". However, we maybe don't know about the lich knowing everything to even worry about it? And the supposed Gyr would have an interest in us not being found out and possibly interfered with that communication.
>>
>>869867

[X] Yzia might have a clue about the mark and the power it contains.
[X] Write in? Hit the books if Yzia doesn't know; also see if Siobhan has informed anyone of your situation....

With your spells restored, the intense charge of whatever the strange presence did having empowered you in more ways than one, it is a simple matter to give yourself the protections of a Shield spell and Stoneskin once more. The other potent defenses you leave uncast, as you can no longer guess at what attention you may have attracted.

Leaving is as silent and quiet as your arrival was, your movement through the Astral fundament no different than before. Still, your mind is definitely expanded, an understanding beyond the norm of your spells and how you might benefit from the power within them. Even the simple arcane potency that you recently earned to empower your blade with out of skill and practice as opposed to using the arcane force you collect and hoard so carefully seems to make much more sense, be more....more simple to understand.

It is worrisome.

….could the entity have been an Astral phantom, a mind or intellect whose silver cord was severed and is now just bits and pieces of an entities soul and mind that failed to dissipate? Such creatures quickly attract the attention of soul-eaters normally, but this one seemed remarkably coherent. Perhaps the parts of Tzanzi and Siobhan that were supposedly missing helped complete it....but no, that doesn't make sense, the concept that Siobhan is unfinished or open in some way while Tzanzi was injured in such specific ways in order to allow that would require astronomical odds to come into play.

You believe in destinies, but that's ridiculous.
>>
>>869954
The problem with communicating with Siobhan is that most of what she gives you are impressions and sensations, more than direct answers. She understands your thoughts, however, so when you phrase your questions and worries to her, you know she understands these. Her reassurance and warmth, overlaid with a smug sort of self-satisfaction that can only be her keeping certain things secrets between you and she, has to be enough. Siobhan thinks of herself as your lady alone, your beloved, and others are passing fancies and momentary amusements in her mind.

Considering she feels that way regardless of how you feel towards someone you are currently with (Falna comes to mind, before she broke faith with you) she might even keep this secret from the other Silver Swords. You have no other choice but to trust her, for now. Perhaps the entity was right in that you could possibly make her more than what she is now....but that would require speaking with the Master Smiths. Daunting, that.

Diving deep into the midst of the stronghold, you see the vast openings and gateways that appear to be unguarded. Well, they aren't, really, because what sane being wants to enter a literal nest of dragons? You slow before entering however, suddenly aware that what Yzia might notice, others too may become aware of.

I'd kind of like to meet the Dead Gods, but I'm not sure how much "time" we have, though it could be funny to make Gero sweat a bit.
>>
>>869960
>Demons scare Akko
While there are so many terrible things in the multiverse that I'm not sure that demons are the -worst- thing there, I'd say they're definitely in the top five.
>>
>>869979
Maybe I'm ruined from reading too much 3e/3.5e material, but to me even Obyriths wouldn't rate in my top 5 of scary things. I think its more that them being so irrational makes them dangerous, not really because they're so strong or scary per se.
>>
While I think Akko would treasure the half-mask she was given, would it be better if she wore a full-covering one?

Because a half-mask (and one not in her usual style) risk to attract attention to the mark more
>>
>>869983
Curiosity about Solar Dragons led to me binging through all of Pathfinder's bestiaries, and it seems like the Outer Realms are just full of nightmares. Honestly I kind of feel like Daemons or Divs are worse, due to also wanting to destroy everything, but maybe being more focused to actually carry it out.

And then there's Nightshades, part of me was always spooked by those things.
>>

Demons aren't actually irrational, for the most part.
>>
>>869993
>Demons aren't actually irrational, for the most part.

>>869997
Eh, we can always say it was a gift and a new thing for us. Surely picking up a new quirk isn't unheard of.
>>
>>869994

No, see, that's a common mistake. Demons are made of Chaos, but that doesn't mean they have troubles with reason.

A Demon is perfectly able to be reasonable, even to plan things and to deny themselves to satisfy their urges now if it's better to accomplish a later goal.

A Demon being Chaotic manifest itself by their individualism, strong impulses, and how they shit on all norms
>>
>>870001
Besides, it's hard to be effectively evil if you're all lolrandom.
>>
>>870001
>even to plan things and to deny themselves to satisfy their urges
That doesn't make them any less irrational? I don't know what argument you're trying to make here, they aren't made from pure Chaos like say, a Slaad, but they are still irrational beings. Irrational doesn't mean completly devoid of any reason.
>>
>>870007

Actually it does
>>
>>870009
That would be "completely irrational", I think.
>>
Funnily enough, you could say that Devils are more irrational, because they tends to get caught up in the "must follow the rules even when it's detrimential for me" problem
>>
I would like to point out it is not their irrational behaviors that bother Akko, but their unreasonable ones.
>>
>>870015
Devils don't do that though, they follow the rules as long as they could get caught and otherwise only adhere to their basic principle out of self-interest.

>>870016
>but their unreasonable ones
That was pretty much my point, yeah. You can't even rely on them acting in self-interest or in anything interest. They might or they might not. Thats dangerous.
>>
>>870015
>>870021
Though I guess I should point out I have no idea how Pathfinder portrays Devils, so maybe they are like that there.

Her languid thought is that of a satisfied glutton who has finally finished a feast that they have waited years for. Oh, Akko....come and see what Gero has given me. Of course, she is a dragon and you aren't, so you'll probably get your share after. Assuming he survives. Though the Swords did witness the bargain, so you could lay a claim. Maybe an assassination might be amusing to carry out....

Smiling to yourself with the pleasure that image gives you, you shakes your head, the mental accompaniment following your words though the ether. Would that I could. Come meet me at my vault. I have a thing to look up and another thing to share. Would you be so kind? Her curiosity is immediate and eager. Yes, yes, I know....

You are so cute when you are studious, lovely one! she comments anyways, and you can't help but blush slightly. I will be there nearly at once. I will make myself more compact beforehand.

You can no more resist the frisson of anticipation than you can her advances. I can only look forward to the moments in which we are reunited....

How poetic of you, she murmurs in your mind before the contact fades, her hot blooded amusement warming you in certain ways that have little to do with temperature.

Sliding through the astral you arrive at one of the hidden entrances of the Column, and draw Siobhan. Her desire, a mirror of your desire, causes the doorway to open; the three knights there gaze at you calmly and with no emotion radiating from them. “Welcome Gish Akko.”

“Knight Tavei; Knights Werrow, Svesr.” you sheathe your blade; Tavei sheathes his while pretty Werror and veteran Svesr keep their out and in salute position. Tavei does not indicate any curiosity about the mask you wear, though Werror can't help but look. Svesr is as stoic as they come, the veteran of many battles. You imagine this duty is a punishment detail for him, while for Tavei and Werrow it is merely duty as usual. “My vault, if you will.”
>>
>>870026
“Of course, Gish Akko.” You've worked with Knight Tavei as part of his cadre, and on short occasions he yours; he's pure business, but he's not nearly a uptight as most of his ilk. All three are your inferiors, however. You incline your head to Werrow and she blushes for you straightening and resuming her guard duty as Tavei leads you down the narrow halls to your vault.

Where your cell is where you rest, recuperate, and relax, your vault is another matter entirely. You walk up to the door and close your eyes. The door responds to your thoughts and desires, the psychic resonance placed there by the crafter nearly unbreakable as a security measure. Satisfied, Tavei inclines his head and you touch Siobhan's hilt in response. “I am expecting Yzia, by the way, so please send her through to me, if you would.”

That draws a dour look from him. “you should have told me before. Werrow is not exactly....used to our allies nature or their penchant for self amusement.” you give him a wicked smile and he sighs. “Ah. Then, as you will.” He turns and moves apace back to his station and to Werrow's rescue from your amorous companion.

You walk into your vault, leaving the door open for Yzia. Books arranged in spherical displays float, bubbles of knowledge to be had. Shards, dust, blocks, and ingots of crystal, metals, and glass decorate the vault in artistic displays. Your kiln and tools are off to one side, along with projects begun and unfinished. Armor and weapons, tools of your trade that you have no use for now await your pleasure, whether destruction, gifts, bribes, or remaking. Your cell is where you rest. This is where you work.

Of course, there are cushions and furs and other bolts of strange cloth in one section. There are many kinds of work, and play is a must too.

I think a full mask would look way more suspicious. Afterall, someone could easily feel insulted or thrown off by us completly concealing our face now at all times. A Half-Mask is just a new fashion by comparison. And far less likely to lead to someone to ask us to take it off.

Generally speakign full masks are not typical, they tend to indicate some massive facial scarring or injures, or that the githyanki has given up their individuality for the sake of totally war upon the mind flayers. Half masks are often used with armor, as displaying the mouth is culturally relevant consderign how much negative emotion the spurs can portray, and they often used by spellcasters as well. Hoods are common for skulkers and murderers, as are half masks. Tzanzi's half mask is unusal in that it covers one side of her face and some of her head, rather than her upper face, and they came into fashion for some "time" as a result.

There are a number of psionic crystal masks as well, granting psychic powers and visual abilities beyond the norm.

So a rune-mark covering half mask wouldn't be terribly remarkable for Akko to be wearing.
>>
>>870050
>Yes, but you would have to move EVERYTHING.
As in re-arrange it? Or move it out of the vault?
If even re-arranging it is too hard, I suppose we can find some quiet spot somewhere in the Astral or Ethereal instead.
>>
>>870050
>Tzanzi's half mask is unusal in that it covers one side of her face and some of her head, rather than her upper face
Okay yeah, I thought that kind of Phantom of the Opera style mask was what half-mask meant, and forgot that one that leaves the mouth exposed is also considered a half-mask.
>>
>>870053
Honestly I feel like if we want to please Yzia in all her glory, that'll take a lot of hard work, preparation, and probably forging some equipment.

Though I don't know, has Akko done that with Yzia before? Because it kind of seemed like she hasn't even kissed Yzia before she was cursed to have us in her head.
>>
>>870060
Kissing her in dragon form was new, going further is certainly new ground. Even Akko must find such an effort apprehensive, I think.

We can arrange a special place for this.

It'd make a fine surprise for Yzia

>>870065
One day sure, but I don't think we're ready for that for a while. For starters, we almost certainly need to forge something.
>>
>>870067

>>
>>870073
Man, why would humans think they could hire a cadre of Githyanki and not also get raided for it? Shouldn't they know that, ultimately, summoning anything from another plane is asking for trouble?
>>
Just hope we get some older-looking women.

To be honest, getting near immortality in the Astral as Akko's servant might be a sweeter deal that what they got in the Material plane. If Akko doesn't brutalize her slaves.
>>
>>870082
I don't know, that kind of sounds like the thing that would get an Inevitable's gears in a twist, though for beings who are supposedly as Law as you can be (I guess short of being the Axiomites who created them), it's hard to tell what they consider worth pursuing.
>>
>>870086

What do you mean? Inevitables don't pursue people who spend a lot of time in the Astral Plane.

I mean, they're against people who cheat death unaturaly, not people who live in planes where time is funky.
>>
>>870082
Weĺ, I would note this is likely not Akkos first raid and we haven't seen any slaves sofar.
That kinda answers that question to me
Also, not sure about Solar Dragons but Dragons do eat humanoids in the not sexy way too.
>>
>>870089

Dunno, given how the dragon reacted, it doesn't seems like Akko had a lot of occasions to get valuable slaves.

Looks like we have three slaves currently, but you have a point that it seems like there's a reason she doesn't have more. Though I'm wondering what it takes for her to be upset enough to take it out on her slaves, if having a target painted on her cheek (that it came with vast power and understanding is irrelevant) by some friend-possessing whatsit doesn't qualify.

>>870097
It IS a holiday weekend, and she works at a hotel, and I'm pretty sure her shift isn't over yet. She's probably doing her best not to kill everyone around her.
>>
>>870100
Slaves may live indefinitely, but I'm sure mentally they have a shelf life. Even if they don't become exactly broken, I'm sure they get boring one way or another.

I missed that note, well, apparently she doesn't use up all of them then.

>>870100

I think getting bored of them is more responsible for slave attrition than outright killing, she probably trades them away.
Though I would not be surprised if she has indulged some more extreme kinks with fatal consequences over time.

[X] Wait for Yzia and arrange yourself artistically.
[] Prepare your kiln for making an appropriate mask for yourself.
[X] Start your research now, while Yzia teases the knights.
[] Write in?

At a slower pace you slide through the astral, looking at your treasures and tools, moving towards the large cushions set against the 'wall'. The vault, much like Yzia's home, is spherical, and you have niches and shelves carved into the curved walls. The patterns of books, tomes, scrolls, treasures, and the like are arranged to a certain sort of internal sense you have of them; it looks pretty as well, of course.

Casting the spell of the Unseen Servant you have it start collecting the tomes and scrolls you desire; in the mean time, you start sliding your clothing off, dressing down to loincloth and tunic. Siobhan forms a shimmering, diaphanous, somewhat short gown or long tunic of opalescent black silks before you; you can't help but laugh.

“Yes, my Lady,” you murmur, as you strip down to merely jewelry for her. You even lose the loincloth, in favor of being bare save for jewels and the jewel-like dress. Placing her – still sheathed – near the cushions, you lay along them and start paging through your books, seeking clues and descriptions. Just for effect you conjure Dancing Lights of violet, blue, red, and purple to slowly rotate around your cushion, studiously poring over the texts.

From everything you have access to, what you encountered seems to be a phantom, neither undead nor a living creature but a ephemeral remnant of what once used to be a sentient soul once living, cast off or escaped from the flow of souls from the material worlds through the Astral and into the outer realms. They have no existence in and of themselves; they seem to be a parasitic entity, surviving off others existences. Some can make bonds with them, using the haunting presence as tools, weapons, or worse. Other phantoms degenerate into mere specters, or evolve into complex haunts. Some can overwhelm those who have bonds with them, and as a result become possessed of their natures and desires.

Now that does sound familiar.

Yzia slides through the doorway of your vault, slipping past the books, and pulling a handful of gems into a swirl of glittering motes in passing. A simple broadcast though and the doorway shrinks to nothing once more as you mark the page in question with your sigil for later perusal. As you kick your feet lazily, Yzia glides 'down' towards where you lay upon your belly in the huge black cushion, scroll held open.

“That's something new,” Yzia remarks in a curious tone of voice as she gazes 'down' at you from above.
>>
>>870110
Rolling over you lie on your back as she floats above you, an obsidian skinned elf dressed in white silks and diamonds, white gold glittering in a distorted mirroring of your own jewelry. “I do not think I have the words to adequately describe how alarming what you have just said to me is.” Her glowing, shifting eyes of flame, the four pointed stars of her pupils still dark, watch you with great interest, roaming over your svelte form beneath the glittering dress. Not quite avariciously, but certainly with desire and curiosity. “Can you tell me anything concerning what you are looking at – aside from the obvious physical attraction you seem to be suffering from.

The smile she gives you is wry, but her voice is amused. “I was under the impression that 'new' in your language meant 'not encountered previously'. Or do I have that wrong?” Yzia slowly floats down to you, and you open your arms for her as she embraces you, her (currently) full figure settling onto yours easily. “That is going to be a problem for certain though,” she says, tracing the run on your cheek. You can feel her skin against it, the mark no different to the touch of another than your own skin is.

“That's unfortunate,” you sigh, drawing your fingers through the long white hair that falls around you in drifts. “Do you have any ideas about it then?”

She gently covers the mark and looks at and around you. “Well, on an up note, no mark, no strange aura.” She removes it and smiles. “Your aura glistens like light through diamonds when it is visible, at least to me.” that's actually heartening.

“So you can not see any difference unless you can see my aura?” Keeping the excitement out of your voice is difficult, but you try.

It doesn't seem to work on Yzia, though, because she laughs and nuzzles you affectionately. “It is definitely a thing of your aura.” Siobhan radiates smugness, which swords should not do half so well.

[X] Relax and tell her what happened to Tzanzi and Siobhan.
[X] Have a mirror fetched and Recall Arcane Sight and see if that detects it.
[X] Write in? Sight beyond sight, a Glimpse of Truth.

With subconscious desire you command the Unseen Servant to bring the ancient-in-fact glass and silver mirror you made as your final apprentice project, while you wrap your arms about the obsidian skinned beauty Yzia is currently being. Sliding your nails through her hair you cause her to arch her back, pressing her body into yours in all sorts of interesting ways.

“Tzanzi and Siobhan had a poor time of it, to be honest. I am sure you would more like to hear the lead up rather than the actual incident though.” Yzia sighs and laces her fingers together, looking down at you with her arms framing your breasts. She is smiling despite the sigh, fortunately.

“I enjoy Tzanzi,” she admits, looking down at you with those strange eyes.

“So does Siobhan....between the two of them I was....well, compromised, to put it politely.”

She lowers her hands and cover your breasts, squeezing them beneath hers. “I don't want politely.”

Far be it from you to argue with the polite dragon. You give her the details of how Tzanzi teased you into accepting her mark, how she threatened you wit your own silver Sword, only to become possessed by something alien and strange. The delivery of power and strange knowledge that was given you, and your rather violent dispersal – you fear, from what you have read, that destruction will be a more difficult task – of the strange phantom. Finally the gentle recover and petting after, and her gift of the mask you wore here.

It might be a problem that you're not entirely certain which is turning your companion on more, the descriptions of your sexual play, or the power you now possess.

She traces the mark. “Unleashed? The rune itself shouldn't be giving you this much power, this much knowledge. There is more to it.” Her certainty is reassuring in a way; you are not the only ignorant one here.

Well, between the mirror and some divination, I may learn more, presuming you will move your beautiful black breasts out of my way.” She looks down at you and her nails dig into your breasts lightly as she presses her thigh between yours rather firmly. “Ahnnnn....desist you monstrously oversexed creature!”

The soft liquid chuckle Yzia gives you makes you flush, because her smoldering look tells you that she is thinking that you accused the wrong woman. She slides off of you, but in doing so kisses her way down your belly before sitting up. The mirror floats above you both and Yzia suddenly smiles at you in the reflection. “Yashi a bit of a narcissist, perhaps?” You glance at her, in the mirror, confused, until Siobhan's amusement filters through your mind.
>>
>>870308
“More than a bit, I believe,” you murmur, looking up at your reflection. You tug the shimmering black dress down your thighs a little and Yzia immediately pushes it back up to your waist, baring you before the silver-backed glass. Knowing better than to argue with her, you draw on your arcane force and draw in your mind the spell that has resided there many times before: Arcane sight.

The rune glows vibrant and intense immediately, but the type of aura it emits can only be considered 'confused'. It is unlike anything you have ever seen before, and that includes the powerful and truly marvelous True Silver Swords. There is a similarity there, but only faint. You can clearly see the spells of Shield and the magic of your bracers, torc, rings, and anklets....so it is not the spell but the magic the rune represents.

Siobhan gently intrudes, alerting you to Yzia's use of the same spell. “It almost resembles the aura of some very ancient deific objects I have seen in the others' vaults.”

“Relics you mean?” you ask in a small voice, more worried than ever at this moment.

“Yes. But it is only similar – those carried true auras. This aura is strange. Almost....shattered.” She runs her hand over your belly slowly, and the touch is reassuring.

Closing your eyes you release the spell. The second spell is more complex, more intense, Anointing your eyes with the requisite oils which are handed to you by the Unseen Servant, you finish the spell to see a Glimpse of Truth. The few seconds that it lasts is enough – your aura is a million shattered stars, actinic rainbows shattered by diamonds, bursts of red and sapphire energies sliding through the shimmering veil.

You jerk upright and look at Yzia, whom looks back in confused surprise.

“I've seen this!” Her irritation at your claim is mostly confusion, but you ignore the injury to her ego in favor of bolting through your vault, seeking ancient, carefully protected tomes. Tomes it took valuable ages and efforts to collect.

Yzia follows, her confusion evident in her plaintive question: “Seen what, Akko?” when she reaches you, the dancing lights white and still around you now to better your light, you have the tome unfolded before you, the servant holding it so that your hands do not damage the ancient skin upon which the images and runes of the old tongue are painted.

The images of the ones the human called their High Lords, the elvenkind called the Sun Elves and the mining folk called the Great Ones. Your people had a simpler name, because they were simply what they were – the Elders.

She has not. But she is willign to try almsot enything, especially after that kiss. Slaves have some difficulties adapting to the Astral plane, but most can cope for a while. The worst parts are not sleeping and not breathing. Akko is very hard on the help for two reasons: she has something of a vicious temperament, and when she is upset, she hunts targets. If she can't find a target for her ire, her slaves are next. Akko rarely gets bored with her slaves, as she uses them for projects. She has two adult women (human, half-elf) and one younger female half orc that is actually quite appealing to Akko (she is currently on the edge of going a little insane, as Akko has her taking care of a large glass globe that is a slfcontained ecosystem filled with butterflies and decorative water life.

That used to be other slaves.

Siobhan likes using the half-elf for possession.

It started innocuously enough.

Akko had just achieved the ability to draw spells to memorize from the Astral using the arcane force she collected and studied so carefully (Knowledge Pool, 7th level magic). This qualified her for the granting of a Silver Sword. The ceremony was brief, and attended by many gish, not a few knights, and a number of the allied dragons. Yzia was intrigued by this centuries old and youthful appearing raider when she claimed she did not want a sword that was made for her, but a sword that had been abandoned (as they term Silver Swords whose wielders had died). Yzia, an adult who had lived as long as some mature dragons at that time, had been becoming jaded, though dragons do not suffer the ennui that afflicts mortals.

Yzia requested that she be allowed to accompany the young gish into the catacombs of the Master Smiths; the gish, rather than being honored or elated that she had attained the attentions of a dragon, simply shrugged and told her to do as she liked. Amused by this careless attitude and strange idealism of the old treasures, Yzia followed the gish and the Master Craftsmen to the vaults Below Center, where those Silver Swords were kept. The Smiths allowed the twain entry, then closed the doors until Akko had made her decision.

Akko wandered the hall, concentration quite seriously, accompanied only by the dancing lights of varied colors of blue, violet, and red and the dragon who had no need of such things. It suddenly occurred to Yzia that the githyanki warrior had no need of such things either, being perfectly capable of seeing in the unlit rooms. Pointing this out, the subdued response was, "I want to make sure she will be beautiful when I am at work in my Vaults." Yzia found the concept of a githyanki bowing to the egotism of a silver Sword at all fascinating and rather hilarious, and that she sought a female sword was also telling; most wielders of such weapons viewed them as the mirror of their selves, animus to anima, anima to animus. So it was rather telling that Akko sought a feminine blade.

When Akko chose Siobhan Yzia asked why her in particular, naturally. Akko taken by surprise after her intense concentration, answered perhaps a little too honestly. "I was broadcasting the desire to kiss the sentience of a she-sword, and waited to get any response." Dumbfounded, the gish explained herself. "If I can get a Silver Sword to desire me that much, it should keep me entertained for at least a multiple of decades, maybe even a century or two. Wooing a sword isn't going to be easy."

Yzia began her seduction of the young gish immediately, but Akko was not an easy piece of ass, even for a dragon. The first complication was that, like most of her draconic brethren and sistern, Yzia commonly used a specific shape so that she would be recognized. Akko found her uninteresting after the second meeting, though she remained politely conversational (Yzia WAS a dragon after all).
>>
>>870516
I don't know if Paizo clarified it that way, but in D&D canon its never clarified (intentionally) exactly who or what wrekt the Illithids there. It being a actual enemy rather than a natural force is heavily implied though.

Yes.

They are also the result of a botched assassination attempt that prompted high level characters to create weapons of illithid slaying and place them in dungeons and sponssor crafters to make anti illithid weaponry.

The illithid response was to figure out how to train humans to become psychics, then become addicted to cerebral consuption, and these eventually evolved into mind flayers who took over the universe, and then fled the heat fdeath of the universe and escaped back in time.

Whereupon they discovered a human plot to exterminate them, tried to assassinate the people who developed the plot....

So Yzia began stalkign this unusual gish who seemed uninterested in merely allying herself with a dragon for power's sake. An alliance with a dragon - a companion bond - would have afforded her instant leadership roles. Instead she remained a simple raider. Yzia would occasional go on raids with others in order to tag along and find out more about this careless and carefree gish, and engage her in talk and try and discover her personal preferences - not just in women, but in magic, in weapons, in tools, in raids.

It became very clear that this was not exactly a careless person. Akko had plans for the long term, and those plans included being able to deal with the issue of ennui throughout her entire existence. This centered on three precepts: Change, Desire, and Beauty. Her spells were flashy, gloriously beautiful, and hideously torturous; her fighting style appeared entirely defensive, yet she would inevitably lash out with shocking speed and deadly intent (and the most cruel of enhancements such as acidic dripping weapons); and she was fascinated by beautiful things in all their forms and styles. Glass shaped exquisitely, spells formed in glorious and ephemeral forms that lasted a beautiful moment before inflicting ruin or transformation. and slaves that were exotic, vibrant, and most importantly intelligent.

Yzia was no longer bored; in Akko she found a stimulating, intelligent, and creative person who was more fascinated by Yzia as a person than as a potential dragon-companion - once she had broken out of the simplicity of her life as one of the dragons. It WAS Yzia who seduced Akko, finally, over the course of several decades; it was Akko who played hard to get, though more out of an interest in self preservation agaisnt the stagnation that her fellow githyanki tend to fall into as their lives continue for decade after decade.

Yzia continues this game on her terms now, viewing Akko as a bizarre, youthful, and interesting playmate, while Akko remains fascinated by the changeable, not-quite mercurial, and attentive dragon she has come to think of as more of a lover than an ally and playmate. It is now Akko who seeks to intrigue, bemuse, charm, and delight the dragon, while Yzia finds the fact that the tables have turned in the past half century incredibly hilarious.

So does their relationship continue, with Akko seriously considering how to pleasure the dragon she adores - as a dragon, rather than a human form.

Soap bubbles.

If you have a group of soap bubbles that have adjoining sides, and one pops, the effect on the others is immediate and drastic. They all survive, yes, but the amount of upheaval in the surviving soap bubbles is pretty rough on them....now imagine being a molecule inside one.

It would be like standing on Ayers Rock in Aussieland when one of the tectonic plates collapses in on itself - Ayers Rock might survive, but the ecological and geological catastrophes that would result would still kill YOU.

Does Paizo not know that Heat Death doesn't mean anything exploding?
The more I hear about the Pathfinder setting the more I'm glad I never bothered to learn about it, I much prefer your lore.
>>
>>870619
I'm using the most basic of examples - heat death of a universe is still the end of the universe as entropic constant reaches infinity, and at that point the universe is claimed by the Proteans as all cohesion of that single universe is lost and falls into limbo for recreation

At which point the remaining universes around it are shaken by the lack of their neighbor. the gaps being filled are what traumatizes the other planes, not the destruction of another universe itself.

Creation of other universes is just as traumatic

Yes, my players had a reaction very similar to this.

They learned this five real time years of playing and planning and working to genocide the mind flayers.
>>
>>870708

To be fair, it's not like the flayers weren't coming anyway, right?
>>
>>870755
They actually recieved an answer to that question.

They consoled a Time Dragon (they were at 27th level). He made a study and told them if they had not attmepted genocide on the mind flayers, as time went forward from that point, there would have been less and less mind flayers, and the race would have vanished at the end of about a decade - along with githyanki and githzerai as they were known. There would have been the gith race, a much calmer, more human-like race of artists and craftsfolk, not very warlike at all.

So they went back and crashed the timeline with no surviving githyanki, githzerai, or mindflayers - but a LOT more drow (which they were okay with). That arc got them to 29th level....

Part 3 – Session 2

The tome you hold before you shows ancient paintings upon the skin of your forefathers and foremothers, the delicate vellum still holding rich colors and vibrant runes in the ancient tongue of the gith. The rainbow auras painted around the figures of the ancient races leaders and masters was created by sprinkling gem-dust across the fresh paint, which is why you have an Unseen Servant holding the delicate folding tome, rather than doing so yourself. Yzia rests against your back, her arms draped about your shoulders as she studies the ancient writings with interest.

The reason for her – and your – interest is that anyone seeing your aura will see something very similar to this, as long as the living metal of the rune branded on your left cheek remains visible.

As upsetting as it is, there is a precedent for the power that you have been given. Unfortunately those precedents are the elders of the githyanki people: Gith, Zuoken, Gyr, Paqith, Gysse. People who changed your history, created wonders so vast they can barely be called artifacts, and those who built and maintained the foundation of your people's survival. Or betrayed them and created splinters of your people that you try and exterminate to this day, of course.

This puts you in a very precarious position indeed.

“This is....interesting....” murmurs the dark-elf with the fiery eyes as she caresses your belly through the shimmering dress your Silver Sword created for you. The shiver that she elicits is not entirely one of pleasure. “I think that I like this. My gish is unique.”

“Not unique,” you point out cautiously. “Her Majesty and Gysse both live. I believe Zuoken may still rule the betrayers.” Your not absolutely certain of it of course, but it isn't a bad guess. “It may actuality have been a phantom of Gyr.” Siobhan suggests a shudder in your mind, though she is still off by the cushions you fled to retrieve this book. You allow the Unseen Servant to replace the tome carefully as you drift back towards the thick resting cushions, commanding the Servant to light and prepare your glass-forging kiln.

Yzia, the dragon pretending to be an obsidian skinned elf, floats ahead of you slightly before turning to look at you seriously. “You will be hunted, won't you? Sought for many reasons?”

The question of what happens to those powerful enough to gain Her Majesty's attentions looms large before you. “To say the very least, Yzia.”

She smiles. “Wonderful.”

Something like "I'm quite a prize, and I can't imagine you feel like sharing."

[X] Are you claiming me as part of your hoard, then?
[x] Should you be concerned for others of your kind being interested?
[X] Write in? Well, if I am going to be part of your claim....gimme scales.

Well, she does have a point. You won't be bored ever again and you'll have to be sharper than anyone who might be interested in you, which is pretty much anyone with anything resembling power in the hierarchy of the Stronghold. “Oh, so now I am worthy to be one of your pretty toys, a part of your collection finally? I could be insulted.”

She stops and you almost collide with her, but her arms are over your shoulders and loosely rapped about your neck. Her shimmering, cascading eyes of fire shine in the dark, and the crosses of her pupils glow dimly from within. “I have always considered you to be something precious to me, Akko. I have fought for you several times.” You had no idea; the idea of her battling over you as her companion brings up a lot of interesting feelings, and she smiles at the sensation of your hardening nipples pressed against her own breasts. “Not one of my treasures, but treasured nonetheless.”

You slide your arms about her soft waist, pressing yourself into her voluptuous form. “Forgive me for my temerity then, oh mistress. However, if I am going to belong to you personally, then I must ask a boon....” Her sharply arched eyebrow raises and her ears lift, perking with interest apparently. “I would like to have a few of your scales for a quite different purpose than usual.”

“A few?” she asks curiously, her hands coming up to tangle in your hair.

“One at least....three would be acceptable, and ideally five. Seven would be perfect.” You slides your fingers along a bared part of her lower back, making the chains se wears chime softly.

The wicked smile returns and she brushes her lips along your ear, giving you a frisson of pleasure. “What,” she whisper-asks, “will you pay me for these gifts?” You hear the soft clinking sound of her scales appearing in her hand. You're not quite sure how she does that. She doesn't move her arms from around your neck, though only one hand indulges in the softness of your hair.

Can I just say I'm really glad you decided on Solar Dragons instead of Red Dragons? Because while it does kind of make sense for Tiamat to be bitch enough to give the Githyanki the dragon that seems least suited to teamwork, this seems like a much better symbiosis.

[x] Oh, I am sure I will think of something....
[x] You're the one paying me for the privilege of owning me, of course.
[X] I will make you and I matching jewels.
[X] Write in? this is no small matter of course....while fun, it will also be exceedingly dangerous, destructive, and hopefully worthwhile. But not boring. Also, some cheek.

You look at her with a serious expression. “I was thinking of having you mate with me as a male, then after taking your seed, assuming a male form myself, all in order to get a breeder pregnant with our child.”

She looks thoroughly startled. “You could do that?”

Her reaction prompts you to consider the intended jest more seriously. “Well....I cannot take male form long enough with my own spells to impregnate a breeder. But if I change form soon after you have given me your seed, I see no reason it would not be incorporated....so, yes, I am fairly certain it could be done.” Her pupils spread, and her grin is entirely too playful to be mockery. Tapping her on the nose lightly, you give her a serious look. “But later. This situation is not boring, but nor is it safe in the least. I am certain that destruction and creation alike will erupt from this fiasco, and our safety is paramount.”

That prompts soft laughter and her hands start wandering rather pleasantly. “Oh Akko, you do know how to be insulting with your endearments.”

“Being eaten by Her Majesty is not considered an insult either, Yzia, but it is most certainly a thing that may happen,” you point out gently, embracing her more tightly before you kiss her deeply and slowly. Yzia melts in your arms, her hands less wandering and more caressing you though the shimmering black opal tunic. Siobhan warns you that Gero is now actively trying to find you.

“Besides,” you continue, more light of tone even as you pull away, taking her free hand in yours, “you are paying for the privilege of owning me.”

“I am not certain that's how that works, Akko,” the dragon demurs, her eyes watching you as you move towards the kiln.

You float to a stop and are handed a very long pair of tongs and a rod, which you immediately use to begin collecting glass. “In all honesty, I was intending to make you and I matching jewels. Yours may take longer to craft – I will need a lot more leaded crystal to make a mask the correct size for you.” A dip of the rod and quick swirls, and the molten crystal you collect oozes along the rod like some living thing as you spin it. Gold leafing floats in the air, and you nod towards it; Yzia opens her hand and lets the five scales float to join the gold.

“Can you enchant it to transform as I do?” she asks curiously, well aware of the nature of magical trinkets to change size.

“Oh, easily, but I must start with the largest size first.” You lay the glass across the horn of the forge, and pull and twist and shape it. It cools all too quickly, and you reheat it to continue the shaping of the mask. Setting aside the rod, you use the tongs alone. “This is mostly a stopgap measure. There are spells I can use to hide the aura entirely but it would take even more time.” When the glass is hot enough – Yzia's breath would simply annihilate the leaded crystal – you turn it up, and the gold falls into the glass.

Dipping your hand into the frigid water nearby, you slide the glass around the gold, painting with the flakes of gold that melt quickly into the leaded crystal. The scales are inserted – cheeks, brows, and one at the center of your forehead. You gather the arcane force, and transmute it into fire – normal, common fire rather than the heinous stuff your spell broke apart into! – and apply it to the gold inside the glass, causing it to emit red and violet colors into the glass.

Yzia watches in fascination as you finish the mask, caressing it with water-chilled fingers to mold it more exactly while it cools. Another burst of arcane force transformed into fire, and you smooth the marks the tongs made away. “Beautiful,” she whispers softly.

You take a deep breath, and ignore the thought sending that someone is desperately trying to reach you with. Instead you focus on one of the rings adorning your right hand, with two rubies remaining....the third a cracked and burned bit of glass. Yzia draws a sharp breath, realizing what you are doing.

[X] Use one wish to enchant this mask and make a duplicate and equally enchanted mask for Yzia.

You lose your eyes, framing your desire carefully in your mind as Yzia holds her breath.

Unnecessarily, yes, but sometimes you still need to.

You speak in a soft, clear voice, looking at the ruby and gold ring. “I wish for this mask to be duplicated, and both resulting masks to be adjustable to the morphia of the body they are worn by, formed with enchantments that allow increased clarity of thought and mental prowess, as well as the ability to mask the aura of the wearer....by this increased intellect the wearer will be granted a knowledge of history as appropriate to their kind, and be able to speak the language of pure water.” The ruby cracks and dulls, a piece of blasted glass....

The mask shivers, then melts, forming into two pools of liquefied gold and leaded crystal, before reforming as the first one looked, Yzia's scales and all. The paired masks solidify and shine brightly, the swirls of color emerging from the infused gold artistically sweeping and shimmering, the violet and red colors changing with the quality of the light. They're clearly magical in nature, the shifting gold and crimson of the scales and the unnatural gleam of the smooth crystal obvious.

Both you and Yzia take slow, deep breaths.

“I am not sure which is more alluring....you having power of you using power,” coos Yzia as she rubs up against you, her hands sliding to drape along your shoulders from the side. You do not miss the press of her breasts rubbing against your arm, either. “That is a grand gift, well worth the loss of a few scales.”

You pick up the surprisingly heavy mask of gold infused glass, and study it. Her scales at the cheek, forehead, and on other side of the brows give it a slightly draconic look, while the gold and the scale will over the mark on your cheek; it has strap-holes, which you may lace with silk, but the enchantment will hold it in place without them. You smile and turn to her, which forces her to release you. “As I belong to you, so are you mine, to cherish and protect, Yzia,” you murmur, placing the mask upon her face gently. Her glowing eyes illuminate the edges of her mask brilliantly, the crystal catching the light and refracting it through the glass and so igniting the gold. The violet and red wisps of the gold infusion shift like living things.

“You really do have a way of making your endearments insulting in the most loving manner, Akko,” she remark again, though her smile is genuine and her voice is filled with affection. She takes up the other mask before you can ask her to do so, and steps into you, holding it above your head as she kisses your forehead, an then gives the living metal in your left cheek a slow lick. A hot spark of intense pleasure shoots through your body – not a natural one, but a real one nonetheless – and it makes you shiver violently. She pulls back looking at you with confusion.

“Sorry....it is sensitive....my Keeper.” Her smile is gratifying and she places the mask on your face with gentle care.

Instantly your mind is more clear, your thoughts faster, your understanding greater. Knowledge starts to drift into your awareness, though it will not be completely yours until another sixteen turnings have passed. But the potential for power is there as well, and that you can use. Closing our eyes you use the arcane force – not very much left of it – to pull a spell out of the ether, one you can now immediately cast: Misdirection.

With a smile you consider using Yzia as the target, but decide that might do the opposite of avoid attention. You glance up and direct the spell upon an innocuous tome. Yzia's liquid laughter makes you blush and she pulls you into another embrace. “So now we are protected, enchanted, and more clever than before....and you are truly mine to keep, hmn?” You flush but you return her kiss with enthusiasm.

Siobhan's warning draws a long-suffering sigh from you as you gently disengage from your lover. Yzia looks at you with sympathy in her inhuman eyes, but she is smiling. “Preparation is always the worst part, isn't it.”

“Mnnh.” You nod and look into her eyes, letting her see your desire to ignore the wretch and stay with her, here. But no, you have been tormenting the poor bastard enough. “I feel like I am being set up to be the antagonist in another's drama.”

Her eyes sparkle, quit literally, and she tilts her head, her mask glimmering in the were-lights and with her own gaze. “Perhaps you are at that. Gero is younger than you, and you are terribly young.” You give her a faintly rude, dismissive noise, which only makes her smile more broadly. “There will be time before the raids, Akko. I spoke with Zuhvahn.” Dunzamn's companion dragon, older than Yzia, though not by much fortunately. “As least three hundred turnings.” Slightly over two sidereal days, then. You might not have to rush quite so much, though you've now made Gero wait over twice the number of turnings that you told him to be ready by.

Of course that's two days in a stronghold of people who might just want to kill you, or feed you to an ancient lich-queen.

“Aight, Yzia, I understand. And thank you, for understanding.” She kisses you on the corner of the mouth and Siobhan purrs in your mind at the affectionate gesture.

She starts towards the hidden entrance, and then turns, floating backwards away from you with a wicked grin. “Besides, he might have found something young and fuckable for you.”

“Aroint! Begone, oh daemon of lust!” She laughs as you give her your pointer and middle finger with your others curled into your palm. Se turns and moves away from you. “I prefer mature lovers anyways!” you call after her, before turning to decide on accouterments.

[X] Have Siobhan make something for you.
[] Write in?

Siobhan enjoys dressing you in delicate, shimmery things. But it might be interesting to see what she likes to present you as in a case such as this. Siobhan, I am to be meeting a potential cadre member....would you like to design something?

She is thoughtful about that, though said response is really ridiculous to try and comprehend since she is empathic in all her communications in any case. You remove the shift and remain naked in jewelry and glistening mask, as she weaves ectoplasm into silk and leather about you. The outfit is tight fitting, silk tunic with no sleeves and open back, the collar tight to your throat, the waist with three narrow belts; one decorative to keep the tunic tight, one for her own sheath, and one for your accouterments. The trousers are loose silk, flaring from thigh to ankles and wide, allowing you incredible freedom of movement.

The silver Sword, perverse as she is, provides a tight breech-clout, of strange design; it feel mostly of lace with only enough actual silk to cover your sex. She supports your breasts from within the tight tunic itself, reinforcing the material with some kind of elastic. Thread-of-gold (not truly metal, only glistening embroidery silk) decorated the edges of the tunic and the last half foot of your trousers. She finishes by adding silk arm wraps which fasten at wrist and triceps, also edged in thread-of-gold. The outfit matches the mask nicely, the darkness of the mask complimenting your boots and your other jewelry nicely.

You glide through the room and collect her and her new sheath of decorous white leather with runic stamping across the center-line. “Beautiful as always, my Lady, and with fine work done.” Her pleasure at both the compliment and your flattery is brilliant in your mind. Poignard (more tool than weapon, truly), belt pouch with your few sundries, and the component pouch, and you are ready.

You let go of the Thought Shield and accept the immediate contact from the thought-caster. Yes, I am aware. Have Gero and his companion meet me in the Mist Bloom at once, with no need for concern on his part. The immediate acknowledgment and relief in the though-caster's response is enough for you. You wouldn't have been surprised if any threat on your part resulted in Gero killing the thought-caster out of spite.

Leaving, you smile at the thorough and immediate distress that Werrow displays as you pass and give Tavei a comrade's salute. Yzia must have done quite a number on her, or perhaps even with her.

Once you are outside the Column so close to Center, you move as quickly as you can, which is far faster than the mere speed of thought. You do slow when you spot a rarity – one of the few living creature of the Astral fundament itself, in the far distance; a berbalang, a strange creature that lives in the Astral and can project itself to the material, much as material dwellers can do to the Astral. Somehow, it can feed on creatures in the material which gives it sustenance in the Astral plane. It seems uninterested in the Stronghold, however, so you simply have Siobhan mention it to the other swords.

It did look magnificent though.

You arrive at the entryway of Mist Bloom, and are allowed in by the warriors who guard the gateway. Once in the hallway leading to the interior of the domed gardens, you slow and take stock. Plenty of spells, though only a few intensely defensive ones, down to a mere but still effective third of your arcane force, and armed and armored effectively despite appearances.

And lots of that strange new power.

[X] Begin to Detect Magic now and see what Gero has brought you.

Rather than taking the defensive position, you cast one of the most simple of cantrips, and concentrate. It is easy to do so, the strange power you have been granted lending itself to your efforts, training aside. You see them waiting in one of the stone-paved circles between patches of grass and small trees; often these are where duels or contests are held, though just as often they are for discussions among cadres and smaller lairs. Gero is speaking quietly and intensely, and she seems attentive on the surface, but otherwise is bored of his yammering.

Gero's weapon – no Silver Sword, but fairly powerful in its own right – gleams under your magic enhanced vision, as does his decorous multi-hued chain-mail, the glyph of doom in darker stained rings along the chest. His somewhat bare sash of chain-mail indicates his lower status and lack of raiding experience. Perhaps this will give him a few more honors. His rings are clearly protective devices – one a counter-spelling ring, the other a more simple deflection ring; his dagger is a vicious piece of work, mystic death written all through it. A few potions to aid in the healing of wounds and little else.

You tacitly approve; self reliance over reliance upon accouterments.

The warrior he brought with him is clearly a gish, but one who has focused upon her psychic talent than those of the magical arts. Her blade of deep crystal is heavily fortified against damage and carries a heaviness about it that undoubtedly increases the weight of it upon impact with an opponent (hence the addition of strengthening powers). Her belt is designed to give her much needed fortitude and heartiness; she is a svelte beauty though, not terribly lean or rangy as many of your kind can become with little effort.

The headband is similar to those powers you granted the mask, increasing mental faculty, though you suspect by the design it would be her cunning and willpower that it fortifies, as well as her empathetic qualities. Gauntlets designed to increase the power and strength of her grip, bulky and encrusted with metal and a large gem each. Boots to increase her capability of leaping and running. Her armor is a crystalline, chain shirt affair, made of shifting squared gems stained in iridescence over a backing of dull grey; spell-proofed to an extent.

Interesting that almost all of her tools are meant to augment her close combat capability with mages and other psychics.

You let the spell fade so the telltale points of fire in your eyes are gone before you get too close, and she turns to study you with interest. Gero seems intrigued by your mask, but you merely smirk at him and turn your full attention to his companion.
>>
>>875336
Her war-sash is made of crystalline links similar to her armor; squared off and scale-like; the faint magic it had was specifically there to hold her badges and honors in place; she has a number of them, an accomplished and rewarded raider. She has engaged the enemy on two occasions, and been part of several lairs with awards and booty as compensation. Interesting point: she is not a slaveholder, meaning she refuses to keep slaves of her own. Not an uncommon sentiment, but the honor she carries for it means she willingly engages in slave taking.

Her face is heart shaped and smooth, more rounded and soft than many of your people are; she has a nice soft layer of feminine flesh, something gained by spending a large amount of time in the material. Her eyes are a soft, warm color of earth tone, she most likely not much older than you mentally, though physically she's at least a third more your age. You can barely see the bone structure of her spurs along her cheeks.

For her part she is appraising you carefully and making no presumptions; you hear the soft ringing in your mind as she begins the process of psychically augmenting her vision to see the magic auras you posses. It won't work of course....

[X] Invite Gero to introduce you to his lovely friend.
[X] Write in? Polite, amused, and interested, as....well, you can't say always.

“Gero.” You nod, as much of a salute as he gets from you.

He salutes you more properly, his hand palm out in front of his slightly lowered face, thumb and little finger spread as he makes eye contact. The sign of resistance against the enemy, now a ritual greeting implying that you are rebels together. Ancient history.

Huh, you didn't know that before. Apparently the wish is doing the work you wanted of it.

“Gero,” you say with a little more impatience, your mouth twisting into a slight smirk as you press your spur against the inside of your lips on one side. He looks confused and and then you incline your head towards his associate. It takes him a few more seconds, and then Siobhan starts urging him to talk. Light dawns in his eyes finally and you straighten, looking at her with faint resignation.

She is trying very hard not to smile.

“Gish Akko, Gish Aeuna,” he starts, embarrassed, as her eyes ignite with that pinprick glow in her pupils. “She is willing to take my place amongst your cadre, and will assist you to the best of her ability.” Aeuna gives him a sidelong glance that suggests he should not be making promises for her. You shake your head faintly as you approach giving her a proper salute in return. Her eyes widen at the sight of the red lead-crystal ring on your ring finger and the accompanying gold-littered glass rings that are magically linked to it.

She can't see the auras, of course, so she must have encountered the slave-master rings elsewhere.
>>
>>875363
“Greetings Gish Aeuna. It is my hope we can reach a reasonable accommodation and enjoy one another's company on this raid of Dunzamn's.” You gave her an appreciative look as you slowly walk around her; she's somewhat better endowed than you, but she's somewhat better endowed than most of your race can be. It looks good on her, gives her a more human-like softness while hiding the fact that she's probably fairly strong. She's slightly taller than you too, but you can forgive that – Tzanzi is still taller. You do pause when you are behind her – she seems aware of your presence despite not looking at you – perhaps some visual or Tactile sense that extends to far to be noticed by your simple cantrip.

The reason you stopped is because she has a perfect derriere. Soft, curved, just ever so slightly larger than proportionate. It nearly asks aloud to be squeezed, spanked, or bitten.

Gero flushes and turns with your movement as you continue your walk, and you smile at him, seeing nothing more than what he has always been – a competent, young, and brash warrior. Which is adequate for his age and experiences, but he must have accursed luck. Or the most potent unfocused divination in the world with how often he catches you in the middle of a seduction or even sex. “My very dear hope,” you add softly, half to yourself.

Aeuna flushes ever so faintly at your appraising look, and picks up on the innuendo, but seems to accept it as only that, rather than an outright offer from her expression. Aeuna opens her mouth to respond when Gero interrupts, speaking to Aeuna.

“I warned you.”

Ice cold rage boils through your veins and Siobhan's shock at his temerity is not really a surprise; it is definitely a goad though.

[X] Write in? What did you just say about me you little shit? I'll have you know....

It would not quite have been so bad if he had just insulted you. It might not have been so bad if he had just insulted Aeuna. But to do both, in the same sentence? There are older knights who wouldn't have done that in front of your face. Aeuna is simply looking at him with her mouth in a moue of astonishment and the tips of her spurs showing, appalled that he would embarrass her in front of you by not allowing her to speak for herself after you opened yourself up for retaliation or vindication alike.

You turn to Gero and glare at him, what he can see of your face a mask of self control. “What, pray tell, did you warn Aeuna about?”

He looks at you, confusion written all over his youthful face. The the cold rage turns into an inferno, and you ask Aeuna softly, “Have you made any vows or oaths concerning his safety and protection, Gish Aeuna?” Gero looks alarmed now, but starts trying to speak in his own defense.

Aeuna looks at you, calm returning to her expression, then glances at him. “Not as such, no.” What a curious way to put that – especially since her answer alarms Gero quite badly.

Siobhan is laughing gleefully inside your mind.

You turn your attention to Gero who grabs for his blade, realizing now that he has not merely overstepped his bounds, but hurled himself headlong into the largest crevice of the Abyssal Planes screaming the name of the demon lord at it's bottom. He doesn't even get the chance to draw it as your outrage and horror at his appalling lack of dignity, self possession, and his utterly disgusting lack of propriety in treating Aeuna as though she were his chattel is overwritten across his mind and brain. He chokes as you overwhelm his entire nervous system with pure hate, rage, and morbid disgust, formed into an emanation that brutally overwrites the normal function f his brain with pure, unadulterated fury.

He collapses, sword undrawn, bleeding from the nose and ears, his eyes rolled back into his head, heart a quivering mess, his brain so much useless fat in his skull after you release the Psychic Crush. You leave him to his slow death, and turn to Aeuna.

Aeuna looks at you with a mixture of admiration, new born respect, and a touch, just a touch of fear.

“Now where were we?” you ask mildly, startling Aeuna into a nervous laugh.

That is functionally identical to owning him as a slave, and i still dont see the benefit. It is in fact WORSE than owning him as a slave, because we cant control his actions as tightly, and he WILL want us dead just so we dont arbitrarily murder him.

I say we make it plain that he is a waste of our time to the point we dont even want anything else from him.
>>
>>875462

The Dancer of the Boreal Valley is a boss in Dark Souls III.

Originally a descendant of the gods, and so of royal blood, she was made a slave by the tyrant who declared himself Pontiff after conquering her homeland. He first forced her to serve as a dancer, and then as one of the Outrider Knights -accursed and exiled warriors, plagued by the magic rings the Pontiff made them wear to slowly transform into beastial monsters- which resulted in her growing about twice her already impressive size, and her armor to fuse with her skin.

Not the best picture of her, but it gives you an idea.

I'm surprised you don't know Dark Souls/Bloodborne. I mean, it's exactly your kind of suffering, cosmic horror, gorgeous environment corrupted and destroyed, and pure despair fought with sheer force of will and gutso.

Not to mention the lore seems to be right up your alley.
I
>>
>>875509

>>
>>875512
Hmm.

>>875522
True enough, but remember the whole ennui thing. Having someone who thinks they might someday get revenge on us is more interesting than some controlled slave.

Of course, I suppose just bringing him back without further conditions isn't functionally much different, we just wouldn't be killing him repeatedly and instead letting him live in fear of us. He'd have to pay us our due, and then we wouldn't have cause not to kill him again.

If we want to have him entertain us through the ages the best thing would be to heal him and openly declare a vendetta. Free reign on either part to murder the unholy fuck out of the other.

His fumbling attempts to murder us will be entertaining, until he gets gud enough that they stop being entertaining and become interesting.

Plus he will attract our enemies.

Y'know thinking about it further, letting him live on as our nemesis could be codified into a contract fairly easily.

He has ample reason to hate us, and its clear we arent going to get along, so why not codify it with terms and conditions?

He gets to live and is implicitly understood to be working against us. We pledge that noone who works for or with us will interfere in his revenge so long as he carries it out himself, and he likewise pledges the same of us.

Given that the older gith must have massive power bases that are nigh impregnable, and have been conducting private vendettas through pawns this kind of thing could easily become popular.

Of course we will eventually have to replace Gero with a competent adversary but thats later.

I kind of want Akko's first time with a ma in centuriesn to be Gero hatefucking her in public after finally gaining the upper hand. Only for her to kill him while he gloats to forever hide the fact that she loved it.

Akko has never seen or heard of anyone with power like she has except in very rare tomes and arcane lore (she rolled really well on that by the way). And those that did are people on the levels of the saviors of the githyanki race, the people who effectively led rebellion agaisnt the savior of the githayanki race, people who developed entire base classes from scratch, and other world shaking monstrosities.

Akko is a very powerful gish. There are more powerful ones - there is, after all, a set point where a gish receives a special silver sword even if they are not a Supreme Leader - but she doesn't know any of those personally, because they haven't any interest in her currently and have their own agendas. She is running around at the level where a Leader (which is what she is) can say "All right, I'm building a lair. Give me a True Silver Sword, and I'll take over a portion of the material and conduct raids for a few decades."

Now, Akko is mostly just enjoying herself at the moment and waiting for a Supreme Leader to take on a mission she will enjoy the hell out of or that will strike against the mind flayers hard and deep. Collecting a few slaves and playign havoc in human and elven kingdoms is entertaining and dangerous. It will also provide resources for the Stronghold. So she's going along with it, as Leader of a cadre.

In her stronghold, there are aproximately 3500 caste, roughly 700 slaves, and about 500 warriors. 90% of those warriors are no higher than 7th level. the 10% that are higher level range from 8th to 17th level. These are Akko's peers, friends, and competition. Less than 1% is 18th-20th level.

There have been cases of some warriors,, skulkers, and murderers reaching 23rd level. No full caster/psychic makes it past 17th for long

Remember, there are NO clerics. No druids. No oracles. No shaman. No witches. No bards. Very few actual healers exist among the githyanki, and very few ways to raise the dead. Injury and harm are not easily cured in the Astral to begin with, and 'meaningful harm' can mean quite a different thing that what you expect in a material plane setting with religious classes and more common healing spells. Akko's Greater Infernal Healing is quite literally one of the most valuable spells in her arsenal, and even more so because she can target others besides herself.

Shit, that's not really a window for us to gain weird powers in. Maybe we should make plans not to come back from this raid.
>>
>>875797
Akko is not a full caster or psychic either. She figures she's safe as long as she doesn't earn her True Silver Sword. If she does reach that point she might found a Lair or even a Stronghold and get her kicks that way.
>>
>>875768
I also just want to say thank you very much for bringing remnants into the story. I have always felt that the idea was awesome as all get out, but ive never had players willing to explore it. Either because it isnt competative enough for them, or they just didnt like the idea.

I also love both sets of gith, but could never get anyone to play one seriously other than as a powergaming wank.

And the last campaign I played in the dm said " bring your A game, no restrictions because your all going to die anyway". So i made an elven druid because id never played a druid... then i never got to play anything else when the dm couldnt kill me... until 37th level. From 17th.

So thank you for running this, its intensly interesting!

Remnants?
>>
>>875809
That's good, then. But even so, having a plan to bug out if needed isn't a bad idea even if the mythic thing isn't supposed to be a problem. All we'd need is a place to crash on the material and some contingency spells, or maybe a carefully worded wish.
>>
>>875825
Oh... i thought from the description...

Hold on.

Cant quite find it. It was a variant type of magic that relied on making pacts with beings that had been destroyed in particularly strange ways causing them to exit the normal cycle of souls and exist as remnants.

A good example would be ashardalon, whose death at the well of souls shattered his being beyond an afterlife.

By insribing a special seal and making a deal binders could call upon the remnants abilities and powers.

Mechanically speaking binders were sub par, but the idea behind them was fairly neat.

You've probably seen this before, but in case you haven't I figure that elaborate dragon courtship rituals are right up your alley.
TL;DR, Dragons are like Bower Birds, only their nests are dungeons or even cities,
>>
>>875903
I had not read that, and I think it's a wonderful set of peculiar and fun ideas, thank you.
>>
Assuming they exist in this campaign, how do Githyanki get along with Astral Dragons and Aeons?

Considering the Astral Plane is a Timeless Expanse it doesn't exactly seem rational that Astral Dragons would consider Solar Dragons intruding on their territory, but they ARE dragons.

And as for Aeons, I initially assumed the Astral was their native plane because I dint remember a true neutral Outer Plane, and thus they might focus on whoever lives there due to proximity, but after looking around some more, I'm not sure if Aeons even have a native plane.
>>
>>875903
Interesting, but a couple things: given the adventurer side of the equation the options for the dragon bower are limited to things you would reasonably quest in opposition to. There isn't much cause to bring down a reasonably functioning representative democracy, for instance. The dragon would have to be at the head of some manner of tyranny. There's two options here though, first is to build up a great society over time then twist it at a later date to attract mates. Or, be a smaller corruptive element among the larger society, however that might give a prospective mate a smaller suggestion of what the dragon actually controls. Uncovering the secret dragon as a powerful figure with a grand scheme should mollify this however.

Second, the dragons might not want to actually kill each other but their adventurer allies would be less likely to show restraint. Being secretly a dragon means you can survive more than your humanoid form would imply, but even if they unleash their true power they still might get taken down. Or even if they don't its probably less attractive to a mate to have to go that far and expose themselves. Sure a higher reproductive rate helps keep the numbers in check, but it isn't exactly a positive selective pressure for this behavior.

There's another option however: the social awareness and acceptance of dragons going through this bullshit all the time so adventurer companions realize what they were being used for and that the evil they set out to stop is nullified anyway so why push it? Killing bower dragons might just get other bower dragons set against you, anyway. If it's common enough the entire adventuring profession could be considered far less serious.
>>
>>876815
I think it's possible that you don't actually need to overthrow or dismantle the society the dragon setup, but instead just get find the dragon? It could be that different bowers have different kind of "quests" you need to accomplish to reach the dragon, like some are more politicking and intrigue?
>>
>>876105
So XS, what's more interesting here? Can we use the healing only to force him to give him what he owes us 'which had better be worth it', along with an unusual item of worth for the healing just to have him dig himself deeper?

It feels like letting him die here would more trouble than he's worth, while reviving him only to suffer more for being a gigantic jerk would be more interesting and profitable from everyone's perspective. I don't want to get into edgy terms like the previous anon, but that slave might be interesting and this might be cool situation to flesh out why Aeuna doesn't keep slaves.
>>
>>876896
>I think it's possible that you don't actually need to overthrow or dismantle the society the dragon setup, but instead just get find the dragon?
That's an option, but to convince the adventurers change has been effected they sorta have to blow their cover, or fake their deaths.

>It could be that different bowers have different kind of "quests" you need to accomplish to reach the dragon, like some are more politicking and intrigue?
I think they call that foreplay.

With Gero, I feel like we could heal him but give him one chance to tell us why we killed him. If he can, we let him go, but if he can't, then kill him even worse.

>Remember, there are NO clerics. No druids. No oracles. No shaman. No witches. No bards
I get why there are no Clerics and Oracles because the only one the Githyanki would worship still hasn't managed to become a god yet, and no Druids because no nature, and I guess no Witches because Githyanki are raised with better judgment I guess, but why no Bards?
>>
>>878545
He did bring someone apparently competent to replace himself, as requested.

Akko herself noted that he's competent, just unlucky and apparently socially retarded.
>>
>>878691
Bards are entertainers and lorekeepers, which the githyanki tend to view as escapist activities that do not promote the warlike nature of their culture. They have a caste for lorekeeping (which may include certain bard archetypes) but as a general rule the githyanki find their own entertainments much more personally involved.

Also, in AD&D becoming a bard required sudying fighter class, taking levels in druid, and then you were allowed to take levels in bard.
>>
>>876230
Astral dragons on occasion form the same types of pacts as the solar dragons have; the astral is a vast expanse and the 'territory' of the solar dragons tends to be limited to the strongholds (there simply isn't much else in the astral to keep their interest).

Aeons do what they do - githyanki tend to avoid them, but the aeons have no particular interest in the githyanki efforts.

>>876926
I'm afraid I cant help you here. If you let him live, you can be sure you've earned an enemy for life, but it will take him a long time to actually achieve threat level - unless he hires someone to try and do you in. which he may have trouble with if you force him to pay you a weregild for you trouble and irritation. Leaing him dead means you lose out on the slave, and you may lose out on the treasure he promised, depending on what other debts he owes. He's not entirely incompetent, just crude and unrefined, which can be trained away eventually if he lives. and if he lives you can always use him as a tool or toy later.

If you kill him, you won't have to be concerned about his penchant for interrupting your lovemaking....
>>
I think we should kill him. He has annoyed us before and clearly doesn't show respect. We have all the time in the world to gather resources, so it isn't such a cost if we can't collect everything he owes us.

To Akko's knowledge, are Kr'y'izoth and Tl'a'ikith things that exist, or she has even heard of?

Also when Akko and Yzia have a chance to have a kid, would that child be a duthka'gith despite whatever convoluted and magical methods determine who carries the child? How common are those, and how are they regarded?

Finally, is it okay if I occasionally post pictures of Githyanki I've found?

Part 3 – Session 3

Aeuna looks down at you – she is taller than you, though not too much so – and her gaze has a bit of awe in it. “I believe I was going to explain that I am interested in joining your cadre for the wealth and prestige that would be afforded me in doing so. Your skills as a Leader and your successful contributions to those campaigns you have been involved in make it prestigious to serve....” Her cheeks flush a faint deeper grey. “....to serve under you.” Her glance at the unconscious and dying Gero brings a smile to your lips.

“It will be a moment or two before he is irrevocably dead,” you inform her calmly, stepping close. “You take slaves, but keep none. That is very interesting. Though, this particular effort is more a case of collecting ransom on those elves and humans which the leaders of their people will buy back. At a ten-to-one ratio, the competition will be exceedingly fierce, and Lord Knight Dunzamn will be heading a full Lair, so you can imagine what efforts will be gone to to collect them.” You suspect the delay in going out is because he is making sure the lair is equipped and prepared to hold at least two hundred people to be held captive.

It is ironic that your people learned how to herd slaves and captured enemies from those who enslaved you.

“Yzia wants one, and I would like one, so that is twenty. I have three cadre members, but only one has a vested interest in collecting more slaves – the more successful I am, the more she my demand of me later.” moving a little closer you can see she relaxes a little. “An illusionist, Yashi by name,” which does not seem to bring any recognition, “....Warrior Falna, whom may have a grudge against me, but seems to be insistent in joining despite that. It will be interesting, as we have history.”

“And the third?” she asks curiously. She does know Falna apparently, but does not seem to be concerned or interested in her, or your relationship with Falna. Which is fine and good, business as usual.

“Murderer Tzanzi is a dear friend and the one who is oathed to assist me to the best of her abilities in this raid.” Her eyes widen, and you smile. “You may rest assured that we are all quite competent and capable....though Yashi is quite the dramatic creature. I would be wary of inviting her attentions if I were you.” It promises to be quite a lot of fun, really.

“Her I know....most everyone in this Stronghold would. That is no small oath to swear.” You kneel, and check Gero's thready pulse. Not too long before he is truly dead. “Gero has paid me to take his place in your cadre; he owes me no more, if you are concerned about that.”

Letting him live is profitable in the short term, and there's multiple ways to play with it after that. Letting him live but making his life hell will have predictable results, but there's other options and few of them are dull. Ideally we get him to learn some respect along with subservience, but also potential for his own advancement in the process. Hell we can even be nice about it, it's not like he won't be terrified of crossing us again.

Worst case scenario, we have to kill him again sometime after he's paid his dues to us.

[X] You weren't really, but that's kind of her.
[X] Actually you were debating on whether he was worth saving....

You glance up at her mildly and she blushes a little again, your regard apparently a little more than she can handle still. “I not been terribly concerned about that, to be honest, but I appreciate knowing that.” She nods slowly as you turn your attention back to him, dabbing your fingers in the cerulean blood that is leaking from his ear and painting the rune of the brain damaged upon his forehead with it. “I am not certain that the debt he owes me would be worth collecting if I decide to let him live.”

She kneels, and crosses her arms under her breasts. You glance at her and she flushes, lowering her hands to the ground instead of the somewhat provocative pose she had taken. “I am not going to ravish you, you know. Despite what he thinks, I am not prone to casual rape. All my rape is in context.” That makes her blush even further, and she glances down. “I am flirtatious and passionate, yes, but not entirely morally bankrupt. A touch selfish, according to Yzia....” you murmur as you pull out the vial of precious devil-blood.

“....the dragon Yzia?” Aeuna asks with a little trepidation. At your nod, she shivers slightly. “I've never been involved with a cadre that had their own dragon to support them.” You give her a curious look, and she smiles faintly. “I know they are our allies, but it would be rude to speak of them as mere mounts.”

“Not many who have not traveled with them would do that. Your respect would be appreciated, I am sure.” Siobhan giggles and gives you warm feelings. No reason to reveal how close you truly are to Tzanzi or Yzia. She will figure it out quickly. “She and you are companions?”

“And lovers, yes. She is incredibly interesting.” You have always thought so. “Looks like I have to make a decision. So you do not care if he lives or dies?” Looking at Aeuna you watch her reaction carefully.

“No, I have everything I needed from him up front. It is entirely within your power, Gish Akko.”

You're almost certain now there was something between them that was more than simply him paying her to take his place. What it was you may not know, but there was most likely another bargain or vow. “Akko is fine. Very well.”

Infernal Healing requires devil blood. Nothing else (aside from unholy water) will do. Incidentally, if Akko had not used Brillaint Energy on Siobhan, the spell would not have worked - silver inflicted wounds won't heal with Infernal or Greater Infernal Healing.
>>
[X] Bring him back to life and decide then if it is worth it.

Taking off your glove, you allow the Unseen Servant to open the vial. Extending a fingertip, you pres it to the opening tightly, and allow the Servant to upend the via and you turn you hand over, then back. The droplet of black ichor is hot against your skin as you intone the spell and wipe the bead of ichor along his lips. The entire droplet leaves your finger and slowly vanishes, absorbed into his skin. Already you can see the blue across his sclera fading, the petechial hemorrhage healing; his brain and heart will be healing as well, but it may take a moment. You did wait until the last few seconds after all.

“Just so you are aware, aside from Falna most of my cadre is beyond the point of caring about specifics of preference.” Aeuna looks at you in confusion and you look back at her blandly. “Yashi desires drama the way others desire power, Yzia thinks power is an aphrodisiac, and Falna is more self centered than I am, which may be saying something. Tzanzi....Tzanzi is peculiar.” You smile. “I simply enjoy the pleasure and experiences. So, if you are opposed to enjoyment between females when the chance comes, you may not wish to join this cadre.” With a frown you correct yourself. “Mind you, I do not know if Yzia would take male form for her pleasure out of anything but greed, so there is that to consider.”

Aeuna seems a bit taken aback by your frank discussion, her cheeks darkened by the rush of blood. “I am not certain, but I'll tolerate much before I renege on this opportunity.” You nod pleasantly as Gero starts breathing slowly and steadily, his brain healed enough to allow his body to start working properly once more.

If you weren't sure before, you are now: Aeuna has an agenda, and that agenda most likely revolves around something Gero needed from her, beyond slavery.

You flick him in the forehead and his eyes flutter open slowly. It takes a few seconds before he can focus on you, one pupil wide and the other small. Even as you watch they slowly match sizes and he struggles to push himself up.

Grabbing him by his hair you yank his head up, while the Servant places the vial of devil blood in your spell-pouch. Gero grunts and then his eyes widen as he remembers what happened. Chances are slim that the spell will heal him to full strength but he's incredibly weak at the moment. You draw Siobhan as you stand up, gripping him by his hair. He grabs at your wrist, one hand managing a weak grip, but strong enough he doesn't suffer as much pain. Placing the arch of your boot over his ankle you keep him stretched out, despite his flailing.

“You have been more than rude, Warrior Gero. You ave offered mortal insult to me and to Aeuna.” You place Siobhan along his throat and he freezes.

You draw on the arcane force, igniting the silver blade in crimson light, then you add a bit more, and Siobhan howls in ecstasy as you transform her into a blaze of pure crimson energy. A final touch of your own magical talent, and the shimmering, the pure energy she has become vicious and potent – more so than you expected, for the ability t use that personal power to enhance her is empowered even further by the new and strange Elder magic you possess. “It behooves you to explain to me that those whom you are indebted to are worth keeping you alive to pay off, rather than contesting them for their shares of your wealth.”

His eyes dart to and fro until he sees Aeuna, who looks at him with a blank expression from her crouch as she folds her arms under her breasts. His expression becomes accusatory, before her eyes flick to your mask, and he turns his attention fully on you.

That was an interesting exchange. An assassin? Did he really hire her to assassinate you?

You can see him trying to think his way through something to explain himself with, some lie or facile truth.

So you cut his throat.

A spray of sapphire blood jest out across the paving stones and Aeuna looks at you in alarm; you wait, and the wound seals quickly, after only three thick jet of his arterial blood spatter along the stone platform. And your boots, but you can take care of that later. “The spell is not going to last that long, you know. Your life is forfeit, so do not bother trying to call a duel. Now, give me an answer.”

“You are the only person I owe any significant amount of wealth to,” he snarls, both his hands wrapped about your wrist now. “So unless you plan on contesting yourself, there's no point in worrying about anyone else that may have a claim.”

“You understand the nature of the insult you offered, do you not?”

“....”

“I really hope you do.” You actually give him a few seconds to think about it before you place Siobhan directly against his neck, the brilliant ruby blade a shimmer of pure radiance and death, purring as she hopes for more bloodletting.

“I spoke out of turn, in giving Aeuna the warning and in preventing her from defending herself or presenting herself to you.” Not too bad. He might learn from the experience. There's that reproachful glance at Aeuna again, who doesn't respond to that one either. She's much better than she pretends to be. The psychic warrior might actually be body- or even sex-shy, but she can keep a mask on her emotions at least.

“That is pretty close to the mark. Mainly, you were telling me you had power over her choices, and telling her that you knew me better than I could claim for myself. You do not control another's actions and decisions, only your own, unless you have a claim on them that they have agreed to.” His face is worryingly blank for a moment and you sigh. “I do not care that you basically called me a slut. I care that you did not give Aeuna a chance to decide for herself whether or not I was flirtatious or a slut for herself. And you did not allow me to demonstrate that for myself.” A vague understanding dawns in his eyes.

“Then....you will let me live?”

“Did you take oath with Aeuna to have her kill or harm me?” you ask curiously.

“....I gave her two body weights in deep crystal, and three weapon weights in gems to kill you.” You are impressed that he had that much wealth to spare. He may not have, and done it anyways; she had said she received the payment up front.

“That's unfortunate,” Aeuna complains mildly, her expression sad. “Now even if she doesn't kill you, I have to kill you for making her a more difficult target, as I warned you would be the case.” She remains kneeling, and doesn't make any aggressive movements or begin any special processes for preparing to attack you though. “I'd intended on giving amnesty during the raid as part of the oath, but now you've gone and upset her.”

Gero gapes at her, though his spurs are hidden.

“I am not upset,” you point out mildly to her, while Siobhan wonders if she's allowed to kill him or not now. “I am only annoyed by Gero's stupidity.” You haul him up to his feet and he grabs for his sword, right before you plunge Siobhan into his heart. Her newly empowered state slides through his shimmering splint mail like water and she rends his heart with a gleeful mental shriek. “Now I no longer need concern myself with it.”

He coughs blood onto your clean white clothing, and you glance down at it as the wound slowly closes. “Hold on, this may take a moment.” Aeuna looks up at you in wide eyed surprise as you thrust Gero back and he starts to fall, only to have blood erupt everywhere as you step to the side and use Siobhan in a two-handed upswing to hack his head off in a single blow. That definitely kills him, and Siobhan immediately begins the process of declaring your kill to the other Silver Swords.

You gesture and invoke the cantrip to clean your clothing; Aeuna makes no moves and merely watches you carefully. You wave your hand at her and she stiffens, but when she realizes that you're just cleaning his blood from her clothing and face as well, she relaxes. “So, assassination?”

“Mmn. He requested your death or a permanent maiming, but I don't think I could successfully maim you and live to get away with it, so I was going to try for death after the raid. I was intending to provide a grace period during the raid – I really do think it would have been worthwhile – but now he's gone and ruined all that.” She smiles a little and shrugs. “I don't suppose you would be willing to let me walk away for now?” Aeuna just a little on edge, and still a little afraid of you; she seems to be very intent on not giving you a reason to outright kill her.

The thing is, she hasn't. Just because she's been paid to assassinate you doesn't mean you can kill her outright without penalty. She is a gish as well, and that does have a certain amount of propriety to how you're allowed to kill her.

Do we have a particular reason to not just let her get out of her contract and oath easy with a duel?

Honestly? If Aeuna's condition was that she'd kill Gero if he made Akko harder to kill, then she'd have done it even before he openly admitted it, because heavily implying it was good enough for Akko, since it's not like she'd go "well, I'll just disregard that."

...Kind of weird though that Aeuna would decide that Gero bungling it for her meant she kills Gero instead of the contract being rendered null and void. ...I bet she wants to test her skills against us.

“No I do not think so.” She tenses, though carefully, which gives you time to explain before she flips out – if she was going to. “I do not have the time to collect another member for my cadre in the turnings we have left before the raid, and it would be kind of a waste to hope for someone as competent as yourself as a replacement.” Aeuna blinks at you, surprised. “I could demand you replace yourself, but that would be a little presumptuous I think. So you may as well come along on the raid.”

“Thank you, Gish Akko,” she murmurs, bowing her head and rising to her feet, her hand held palm out in front of her face with thumb and little finger spread. You do note she doesn't close her eyes, though. “You are a frightening individual.” Didn't someone say that....oh, no, that's what you called Yashi.

“Flattery will get you many places. Although we could have a formal duel and discharge your oath that way, could we not?” Aeuna frowns slightly, considering. “Though that somewhat depends on the way the oath was worded, I expect.”

“Well, I promised him a maiming or a death. So it would have to be a serious duel, at least to deep blood.” That makes you raise your eyebrows; a mortal wounding is no laughing matter. “I wouldn't feel right doing anything less for poor Gero.” You glance at the gardening castes who are approaching from above, their thick robes fluttering as they come to collect the body and inter it in his vault in preparation for his ceremonies and later reclaiming for the gardens.

“You have a soft heart,” you comment mildly, which makes her blush rather deeply. “I think we can – hmn. A moment.” What, Falna.

Akko, I have a request to make. Well, she hasn't shown her face to you, so that's acceptable.

So formal. What?

I have a pair of acolytes who wish to study under you. I think you will find them....acceptable. They have barely enough experience for this sort of raid, but great enthusiasm and will. I would even accept responsibility for their errors. Is that....is that an apology in the making? Is she actually feeling regret for having treated you so? Or is it a method of preventative to bribe you into relaxing your vendetta against her slightly?

[X] You'll get back to her.
[XX] Have her meet you elsewhere in this bloom shortly.
[X] ….acceptable how, exactly? I am suspicious.
[X] Write in? There is an issue concerning seats on the dragon.... though I'm sure she wouldn't mind more seats resting on her....

Falna is both a tactician and strategist, so you're fairly certain she has an answer to your next question. Yzia can only carry five, and I have oaths with two cadre members and am on the verge of adding a third. Do you have a solution for me?

I have arrangements to arrive at the lair under my own strength, and they will not overburden Yzia between the two of them, you may be reassured. You are not – you suspect that means they are very young, and you have little interest in youth for a number of reasons – Gero was a prime example. As far as the raids, humans are ill equipped to deal with gish; they can accompany you on the raids in which you combat the humans, and I will accompany you on the raids against the elves. This will allow us to maintain a presence back at our own part of the lair and keep our personal bounty to ourselves. By which she means the slaves you ear between you of course. This will also afford the pair of gish time to study. They can also cook.

That catches your interest. “Can you prepare food, Aeuna?” She nods and tells you she does so very well, puzzled by the non sequitur question. Meet me in the Mist Bloom near the Turning Crystal with them in tow; I will test them personally. And I hope that you mean acceptable in more ways than you seem to be hinting at, because if now, I will be....upset with you.

I assure you, Akko, I took every possible thing into account. I know you prefer experienced githyanki, but these two are prodigies and....interesting beyond their youth. That clears something up – Falna prefers youthful lovers, but she very clearly is not making the same mistake with them as she made with you so long ago. Her annoyance at having to admit her relationship with them is gratifying though. Siobhan snickers in your mind, but not Falna's.

Then I will speak with you shortly. Bring Malnae as well, if you do not mind. Her presence leaves your mind after she acquiesces to your request for her Silver Sword to be present.

Of course, she has to be relatively nearby in order to have contacted you with telepathy in the first place. Having her Silver Sword present might be more worthwhile though, if you do manage to get Aeuna to accept a duel. “I am going to meet Falna and possibly two young apprentice gish that she believes would be of a benefit to us, rather than a hindrance. Since I neglected to ask if they were psychic or magician, I would not mind an opinion.”

“Yzia is an adult, isn't she?” You nod. “She can't carry all of us.”
>>
“Falna has been a Supreme Leader for a Lair; she has made plans and suggests she would be able to mitigate that, so I am taking her at her word.” That impresses Aeuna quite a bit. “Besides, I have the impression....ahn. Tell me how Gero described me to you, would you?” she glances at you sidelong as you gesture for her to accompany you through the bloom, walking rather than moving through the Astral fundament.

“I'm not sure I should repeat....” She glances at you, her cheeks coloring. She seems awfully old to be so shy. You make a gesture to encourage her to continue and she swallows and speaks softly. “He claimed you were a hedonistic slut who could not get enough of your own kind – meaning female, I now understand – and that you had maltreated him for the simple error of being male.” Glancing over her shoulder at the gardeners ritualistically divesting him of his clothing and tools, she comments mildly, “That too was a misapprehension. More on his part.”

“Actually, I am rather surprised he was jealous. I knew he was young and tended towards fixation, but I did not suspect him of that level of depravity. I may not have an interest in men currently, but I've had a few in my time.” Mostly enforced, but that was another matter and at a much younger 'age'. “I was under the impression you are older than I am, but I seem to be mistaken. Or are you merely body shy?”

She flushes and focuses on the trio of people under the Turning Crystal at the center of the dome. “Three and one half centuries, but five decades in the material.” A peculiar combination of young and mature then. “And....perhaps....a little body shy.” You glance at her, dark blush, and then you gape at her.

“Virgin?!” A five decade old adult virgin after more than a century in the Astral? How in the fundamentals did that happen. You shake your head. “I am half unsure of how safe you would be in this cadre!”

She looks down and mumbles softly. “I simply haven't had time....”

“Mmn. As you wish. That would be Falna and those must be her....acolytes.” You're still some distance away.

Factually, she is. It's not a question of power level, but having mythic ranks is basically how demigods are represented in the system.

I'm looking up Mythic levels and Demigods in Pathfinder rules and can't find anything about that. Godlings are a way of having Mythic levels but they are explicitly not Demigods.

She already explained that in >>879320
>“Well, I promised him a maiming or a death. So it would have to be a serious duel, at least to deep blood.”

Unfortunately the odds are against us since she's specialized in fighting mages, and she can probably afford to be more reckless because as long as she doesn't make us too mad at her, we'll probably heal her if we win.

>>879398
Given the context, it's an important distinction that having demigod substance alone does not put you at a demigod level of power.
>>
>>879411
Mythic levels are described as a spark of divinity.
for example Hercules might be a level 10 barbarian and have 7 mythic levels.
>>
>>879395
>[x] Ask her to take oath with your cadre.
>[x] Ask her to duel you.
I assume she won't be doing any assassinating after the duel no matter what, which makes this ideal - in addition to clearing things up, it also lets us test her mettle and see how Akko fares against a mage-killer in non-lethal combat.
>>
>>879413
We only have 1 level so its not full blown demigod hood but its a start.
>>
>>879414
It's... pretty lethal anon. Or at least she's gonna attempt to maim Akko, which will damage Akko's reputation.

There are stakes here for Akko, but not much for Aeuna.
>>
>>879413
>Mythic levels are described as a spark of divinity.
As far as I can se, spark of Divinity is just one of many ways to have Mythic levels, though I guess what exactly 'is' a spark of Divinity is vague enough to make arguing about it futile. At any rate, we don't measure up to any Demigods for a long time.
>>
>>879417

Well yeah, but there are probably social ramifications to being defeated even if Akko survives (also Aeuna said that she thinks Akko is dangerous enough that she doubts she can survive fighting to wound so she's gonnna aim for the kill)

Also it's possible that even with the mask, Akko might inadvertantly reveal just how strong she is, which isn't something she wants to do right now.

Though I guess it will be exciting.

>>
>>879458
That's showing weakness.

That being said, we definitely should wait until we regained all our spell slots, and probably change into some armor.
>>
>>879424
The part that Akko found depraved was not his sexuality, but his thinking that he could direct and control others in any way , and that he believed her disinterest was sexual as opposed to mental.

>>879461
Akko is currently much more concerned by her lack of Arcane Pool than her spells - she has plenty of spells, but a mere 4 points of arcane pool. Siobhan has Brillance applied, and she will be given keen when Akko uses arcane strike (which is her mythic feat and will last one minute for the extra damage and include keen as a bonus ability), but she does have Shield spell, Fire Shield, and Displacement as defensive spells, and more than enough attack spells to deal out damage and debuffs with.
>>
>>879490
Right yeah, forgot how her class worked. But still, my key point is that, at minimum, Akko should be fully rested before challenging Aeuna.

[X] Ask her to take oath with your cadre.
[X] Ask her to duel you.

“Deep blood is a very messy affair. More so than most of my affairs, at least.” She glances at you, sill blushing from your discovery. “I have no capacity to heal either of us if you wish to duel now, but there are two days remaining.” She nods, not quite certain what you are getting at. You walk with her and study Falna's find....and slow as you look at the impossibility before you.

The stone disc is larger here than those of the other walkways, and duels and lessons for groups of childer are common here. There are none currently, and precious few onlookers at the moment. That means your stare is not noticed by too many. Falna, surprisingly, does not seem to begrudge you the obvious impropriety; this could be because Aeuna is gaping at the two acolytes of the gish herself.

They are dressed in simple but beautiful chain shirts of elf-silver burnished to a white shine and most likely enchanted. They each bear a deep crystal blade, one of a dark ruby color, the other of a dark citrine yellow. There leathers are pale and they bear sashes with slightly more honors and badges than Gero once possessed, most of them relating to defense of the Stronghold and some minor sorties in the material against the enemy. That this last is present upon their sashes is somewhat remarkable, because they are both youths, hardly nubile, much less long in training.

These things are not what arrests your attention.

They both possess short falls of dark hair, and delicate, only just now losing their softness of cheek and becoming lithe and delicate featured. They almost posses the androgynous nature of half-elves, as many young githyanki do, but they are female. Their ears and the way their spurs are set in their jaws are clear indicators. Only one thing sets them apart from each other – their eyes. Dark, rich garnets gaze at you from the one bearing the yellow blade, while her twin gazes at you with eyes the color of burned marigolds. Twins, in a species that cannot have them, and young in both true and Astral manners.

You wonder who they paid for this, and what they paid.

Shaking yourself free of the wonder, you turn to Aeuna, who hasn't quite done the same. You don't blame her really. You poke the side of her breast and she jumps, and grabs them both looking at you in astonishment. “Duel me to deep blood in fifty turnings, and count your debt to Gero settled. Then take oath with me and join my cadre.”
>>
>>879533
You see her debating it, and you tilt your head, smiling suddenly. “Or be refused from my cadre, plot and plan your assassination, and miss out on losing your status as unbred by male or female. Yzia is a shapechanger.” You leans close. “So am I.” She flushes and opens her mouth, and you quickly place your finger in it, and surprise her into closing her mouth. “Do those things for me, and I promise you will find yourself in a far more tenable situation than you are in now. Not a vow, or an oath, merely a promise.”

Slipping your finger free – ignoring the wide eyed looks the 'twins' are giving you – you trace your personal rune upon her brow, whispering the spell. “I'll give you two turnings to think on it, and you may use a thought-caster to contact me if you decide against it – they can use my mark to find me.” She colors, realizing that you could use the mark as a locator for Divinations. You smile wickedly. “If you will assist me in assessment, Gish Aeuna?”

Her embarrassment in being tricked (and perhaps teased) so thoroughly and quickly is lost in the formality of training and assessing the younger warriors you are presented with. “Of course, Gish Akko,” she relents, her confusion and embarrassment quickly hidden under her blank expression.

“Wonderful,” you murmur softly, not entirely referring to her willingness to assist you in your martial duties....

A bit late to the party, but thanks for running.
>>

That this isn't Ryukuza Quest and weakness is paid with death and bloodshed and horrible mind controlling monsters eating your brain.

Or did you really think you would get to play a not!githyanki and not meet at least one not!illithid if you were going to meet one not!githzerai?
>>
>>879573
I dunno anon, at least we had the guts to kill Gero and didn't shy away from violence in general, whether it was the damn knights interrupting us with Yashi or this duel.
>>
So what all is shocking about these twins? That they're a matching set? Their eyes? Just overall beauty?
>>
>>879585
"Would it be to death or maiming, or simply yielding?" Anon like this dont understand warrior caste githyanki!

>>879582
Quest has been great so far. one thing I was wondering is do characters in setting think about arcane pool and spell slots the way players do? Like trying to get rests in all the time and not fighting if they are even a bit weak.
>>
>>879588
They're not real twins. Someone had to pay a fortune to get a matching set.
>>
>>879591

If a player was doing that, his PC would get destroyed so much in a campaign with a not "hand you everything on a silver platter" DM.

Please have us be punched through time by uh zerth cenobite (?)

Though in my opinion the real mystery is how a race whose favored class is monk survives at all.

I understand pathfinder made monks better...

Looking forward to the horrible feeling of an illithid chewing through our skull to get to the creamy center!

Also looking forward to nubile elven priestess (plural?)

And humans whose blacksmiths and tavern owners mysteriously posses high pc levels.
>>
Thanks for running!

A deep wound, meaning something that cuts into important organs, major arteries, or could be fatal without serious and quick treatment

>>879588
It is physically impossible for there to be twin githyanki, because if there were such a genetic error in vivio, the mother's body would abort it rather than allowing an egg to be formed at all - githyanki embryos are somewhat vicious.

>>879591
Yes and no.

Akko consistently refers to her arcane pool as the arcane force she's collected. being an intelligence based caster, she thinks of her spells as 'spells on hand' or 'in mind'. When she has a lower amount of arcane force (less than 3 arcane points) she becomes concerned, because it limits her versatility. She is careful about how many defenses she has available but is very aware of how her spells can be best used; she is constantly thinking in a tactical sense when the threat of duels or fights are present. She is fully loaded for a fight, though her defenses are somewhat lowered they are still incredibly significant. When she faces stronger opponents she will react appropriately.

>>879621
Limbo is responsive to thoughts of others....an ascetic with a lot of mental control can make the plane and terrain obey his will. Much harder fight. Also, monks in AD&D were significantly more powerful.
>>
BTW, 50 turnings is a bit more than 8 hours.
>>
>>879732
So 1 turning is roughly 10 minutes?
>>
>>879701
Were they? A shame what 3.5 turned them into then.

>>879732
What is happening to her arm?
>>
>>879823
What, your arm can't do that anon?
>>
>>879745
Yes.

>>879823
Yes, and face protection.

Pathfinder Monks are worse, in many ways.

Unchained Monks are not.
>>
>>880499
Worse?! How?

Worse in comparison to other classes, or worse compared to monk.5?

Because the latter should only be possible for very poorly designed tier 6 shit classes.
>>
>>879110
Is this whole post just full of spoilers, or did I just post it at like exactly the wrong time?
>>
>>879110I literally didn't see this post just because I posted the session start right after it.

No, and no.

It would be a half dragon githyanki, yes.

Of course it is fine. I only post my own pictures to keep track of my posts.
>>
>>880632

They're worse because how the game works shits on them harder than what 3.5 did on its monks.
>>
>>880910

Like, I have a gestalt Wizard/Monk when I play with my buddies who like PF.

The greatest contribution to the build of the Monk class are the skill points.

'Course, not counting the archetype, which makes it a bit better, but still pretty bad
>>
>>880900
Does Akko know any Half-Dragon Githyanki? Like I imagine a bond that strong would be pretty rare, but I'm not sure how rare.
>>
Note to self: Ryukusa should cosplay as Lilithmon, next
>>
>>880952
She does not, bit then again, there are no unplanned births among their people either. There are a few others with similar bonds, but the nature of the Astral plane prevents conception except by planning.
>>
>>881750
So wait, would she'd have to ask the leader's permission to have a child with Yzia?

Aso that reminds me, are there any Githyanki Alchemists? Given how kind of stagnant things in the Astral Plane can be, I'm not really sure whether or not the chemical process of alchemy would be rendered more difficult, or less if you could control how things react to each other.
>>
>>881858
I assume that alchemy is yet another class/profession that is handled by the normal citizens rather than having some specialists in the military.

As for having a fiery dragon-spawn with the qt, I think you might have to run it past whoever is in charge of the breeders and, potentially, one of Akko's superiors. I mean, half-dragons might never have occurred before in Gith society. And if we do that, I say we have a leading hand in raising and influencing the child. Wouldn't want an enemy to suddenly come into possession of the MC's and waifu's love-child.

It seems like in right around when 3.5 was announced, they had red dragon/Githyanki hybrids be this big new thing that ordinary Githyanki were resentful towards, but then again those hybrids were created through dark magic and not the old fashioned way, and is definitely not canon to this campaign, so who knows.
>>
>>881858
No, she would have to arrange to remain either in the material or in the breeding demi-plane for 5 months while the egg formed.

There are alchemists among the githyanki, but it is not considered a 'combat' profession; it takes an act of will to force most alchemical reactions, making it a long term process.

>>882000
It is not canon to this campaign. (Why in any deities name would you annoy dragons like that?!)
>>
>>882112
I assumed that it was part of Tiamat's master plan, who cares about her followers about as much as any evil god seems to (ie, not really much at all).

Also, do Githyanki ever go for golems/clockwork stuff? Or do they consider that culturally inappropriate?
>>
>>882112
Annoy? I guess if you were forcing it, but surely some dragons crossbreed for their own reasons? It's easy to imagine Yzia at least being amused at the idea of knocking up Akko.
>>
>>882341
I think in the context of that adventure, it wasn't a natural kind of reproduction. It also gave an explanation for the Lich Queen's behavior with killing everyone above a certain level: pretty much the laziest method I've ever seen for trying to become a god, just park over a Dead God and spam Wish thousands of times, eating souls to make up for the EXP penalties.

I'm interested in seeing Akko cautiously figure out what's going on in this campaign, especailly since no red dragon alliance means that Gish isn't Tiamat's concubine or whatever she became.
>>
>>882201
The problem with most golems is that they are one master, one commander type creatures, which mean if the master/commander dies, you no longer have a controlabbler golem, only a large statue. That is a waste of resources.

The singular exception is the Shield Golem, meant to protect whomever wears it's amulet....which is a form of cowardice if you actually desire to use such a thing, since it is primarily defensive and can't really be used against the enemy. If it was offensive and defensive, a better argument could be made.

So, golems are resource heavy but nearly useless to an actual warrior race, just because they die too often for them to be long term useful.
>>
>>882594

Golems would make a good show of wealth if used as guards, though. Like, "I'm so rich I can afford security that will never be bought away from me."

Maybe it's frowned upon in their warrior's society, but I don't think any of them would say being harder to assassinate in your sleep is a shameful thing. Although I suppose how in fashion that kind of thing is depends of the time - gotta keep yourself entertained.
>>
>>892386
Still a waste of precious resources and time.

Remember, that stone, glass, mithril, iron, what have you cannot be found, mined, or created in the astral plane with any amount of ease.

Would you rather arm and armor 170 warriors, or have a single iron golem using 5000 pounds of iron?

I am suddenly and inexplicably tempted to start off Part Four-Session 1 with a githzerai monk and her beloved in Limbo, discussing thing and being loving couple, moving around the monastary and being cute and awesome, just to give context to how she deals with Akko when she fights and gets captured (unless she defeats Akko, which might take this story in an entirely new weird direction, but stranger things have happened).
>>
>>892541
Could always make that a side story; say, for example, that the two meet when Akko is younger, and in a fight against the Mind Flayers, they agree to temporarily join forces.

The Githyanki and the Githzerai still hate each other, but there are worse things out there.
>>
>>892391
Who says that the Gith have to be the ones making the golems? They could probably extort the materials from other species, and use the golems to protect and guard special areas important to the Strongholds and the Githyanki as a whole, such as the areas where they raise their young.
>>
>>892391

>Iron Golem

>DR 15/adamantine; Immune construct traits, magic

In the Astral, where the Adamantine is even rarer and less used than in the Material plane?

Immune to magic, which is the Gith's ace in the hole?

Basically invulnerable.

I probably wouldn't take one over 170 warriors, but if I had the choice between 340 warriors or 170 warriors and one iron golem, I would certainly consider it.

>>892541

Eh, I know I participate in this quest even if Akko is evil and a terrible person, but I sure as heck wouldn't enjoy seeing the happy lives she's going to ruin.
>>
>>893715

Then again, XS, do whatever pleases you.

You're an amazing writer and QM, and it's not worth it to do what you don't want
>>
>>893715
Ironically, Akko's fault seem to almost pale in comparison to her kin. Or, maybe I'm just biased because we've never actually seen her torture and humiliate and destroy other people (not counting shit-face Gero) just for a laugh.
>>
Tthis seems like a better place to check then the Ryukuza Thread, but will Part 4 be running tonight? I don't really have anything going on tomorrow either way, but I'm not sure whether or not I should stay up, or if running on Friday was due to exceptionally poor scheduling.
>>
>>895506
Unfortunately it will have to wait until Saturday, because the boss is being a slowpoke and not leaving, and I'm terribly ill, thank you medcine.

>>894070
>>893715
That is part of why I added the extra two options of illithid and Yzia. I'm cruel, but not that cruel.

>>893513
Because you don't allow other species to create tools that you use if you want your species to survive total war. Also, any weapon of +3 or higher (like every silver sword) penetrates material based DR, and it's rare that most creatures wandering around the astral won't be able to do that kind of damage/have magic weapons that powerful.
>>
>>896309
No worries, and it sucks that you're not not feeling well. Hope it clears up a bit for you.
>>
>>896334
It will. I'll either vomit or be hyperactive for a few hours.
>>
>>894531

That's not ironic, Akko does seems to not partake in needless cruelty.

She's still a raider and a slaver.
>>
>>896587
It's been stated that she has been extremely rough and possibly fatally so to her slaves when she's....upset.
