Scaramogge has come at last to clean this town of vermin!

Sharpen your blades, stow your inhibitions, and fill your bellies full of meat and laughter, friends! Soon we face the absolute trials of wit and courage. And we shall face them not as mice, meekly scurrying away in the face of danger, but as Nobles, implacably lapping at the plentiful bowl of life - all the thrills and excitement life has to offer!

For we are Nobles, and this is our calling - to risk it all for the sake of justice and valour, with an unquenchable zest for adventure - till our very last breaths we breathe with laughter!

I'm thinking I can bump this mook away from that portal soul and into the path of Siegward.

Ah, I assumed that we earlier had failed to make contact with the soul. Her rising from the ground in such an eerie hue had given me hope that something fundamental had changed about the situation.

And to that. When I read "She can be gathered when your mission is over," I was thinking of the body. Had I understood properly I would not have tried so vainly to communicate with her again.

Well, never mind! Better let her remain until we have fully avenged the fallen.

>Amend action not to fully claim the soul. Put her to rest on the ground back inside her body, if possible.

Does this mean we face the burden of guarding our Portal Soul on each of our missions? This definitely makes our forays a little more dangerous than I had anticipated.

>>
The dying and death rules are written as intended in the rules, but there's some important rulings on Prepared action resolution that I wrongly thought I included.

Prepared actions react just after, not simultaneously to, the provoking action. So, a provoking Attack will finish first. If a Move provokes, it travels 1 square before the reaction begins.

Does Siegward need another heal?

>>
>>867229
Sorry, Londry. And thanks for enduring my constant mewling about the rules here! I was looking at the rules sheet as I read that - poring over it, I tell you! - but because I asked the questions plainly it probably didn't look like I was to you.

Please don't think I'm not trying to pay attention!

What it is, is that I read we need 2 turns to heal an ally - but the red + icon over Siegward already seems to have disappeared. I healed him once. I wasn't sure if that was intentional or an oversight on your part, because I fully expected him to need a second turn of healing.

How does that work? Did my standing next to him during the enemy phase count as a second heal?

Also, what HP is a character at after being rescued? 1 HP? Healed to full? The rules sheet literally says nothing on this.
>>
>>867365
I see. More to rewrite, then.

The Dying condition lasts as long as you're at 0. You die if you stay at 0 HP for 2 full turns. Rescuing can only heal from 0 to 1. So, Siegward is at 1 HP and can act as usual now.
>>
>>867240
Welcome among us, Catspaw! A fine name for one newly inducted to the ways of feline finagling! Have you heard the fable of "The Simian and the Feline?"

Scaramogge shall tell you of it some other day, for today we have a greater task to confont. Today we test if we are fit to bear the name Noble in battle!

Ahem. Here is how we will seize our glory for the day! You, Catspaw, must move toward the enemy on our Eastern flank and destroy them swiftly with your daggers at range. Do not relent for a second! For they are far gone beyond death and will not yield to the voice of reason. The valorous Pump-a-rump will move ahead of you and attempt to heal our most reliable fighter, Cane. That is. If I have correctly judged this Pump-a-rump to be a bird of valour.

Now pay heed to this advice, friends! We are under attack from the cannon to our West. The next time we move, we must all be prepared to dash for cover - or one of us will be obliterated by its blast. Move southward into cover and use Prepared actions or a Guarded stance as you see fit. As soon as the Cane's courage is renewed, you will see there is no one fitter to hold the line in battle. And at that moment Catspaw, you should resume your all-out attack!

How does that sound to you?
>>
>>866994
I forgot to mention - one very important thing to appreciate, when it comes to the Noble art of dagger throwing, is that it is all too easy to set your ally in your sights, when you mean to attack your enemy. Careful positioning is of the essence, in these hectic skirmishes!

Speaking of which! You didn't see any of poor Scaramogge's lost daggers on your way here... did you?

Damn and blast! It's not as simple as I thought!

See here, new recruit. The creature to the north is a Martyr, and absorbs damage, while the abomination behind Il Cane receives all that damage as healing.

To break this unholy linkage, we need to ignore the Martyr while striking at the regular Corrupted behind Cane. However, while Il Cane is wounded, he cannot move out to give us a clear shot.

It'd a difficult call, but Catspaw's best move might be to scurry forth and position himself, so that he can throw as many daggers as possible at the first opportunity! But it all depends on the coordination of Cane and Rump-a-pump. Also, if you move East, and then South now, you will not have to move to avoid the cannon later.

And you are more than welcome to practice with my daggers, but they should be just the same as yours!
