Your name is Amon Shuu. You may have been a humble monk...
...but today you are robbing a druglord's casino in The Land of Fire. Gato's Gates of Fortune, the first franchise of its kind within The Gato Company and a nascent effort at corporate fortune beyond native borders.

But this isn't to take down a kingpin or anything. You're in this to steal the debt records for the infamous Lady Tsunade.

But, to every good heist there is an even better crew. It is time to pick yours: the mastermind, the distraction, the Muscle/Inside Man, The Burglar, The Conman/Pickpocket, and the Acquirer.

>Mastermind: The big picture and brains to the operation. The Mastermind is in charge of keeping his/her eyes on the prize, while also adjusting plans as circumstances demand and seizing opportunities. Not only needs a level head, but a lucky streak as well.

Who will be the mastermind?

>Yoru, his intellect and diplomactic skills will be invaluable in this role
>Asa, we're here to track down a specific target. There is nobody more experienced in a hunt or mission.
>Tai, his past would sugget he's lead before. His discipline and level-headedness will certainly help the plan stay stable.
>Amon, both intellectual and flexible he would be a solid leader for most missions. His empathetic nature would most likely give him a good feel for the environment and situation.
>Rin, she seems particularly innoucous but you know she's clever enough to always have a plan up her sleeve. After all, she is a trained ninja in her own right. While she's deceptively observant, she can also be a bit of a happy-go-lucky wild card.

>Your name is Amon Shuu, a humble monk of the Water Temple.
>You have no family to speak of, just another one of the many casualties of the 2nd Shinobi World War. Your luck pulled through when a wandering monk, Myatsuu, snatched you from the debris of a border skirmish. You were 4 years old. The monk, Myatsuu, brought you back to the Water Temple in the marshy coastlines of the Land of Water.

>Nearly 14 years later, the Temple, your home, had fallen to attackers from the Village Hidden in the Mist after a young girl, Rin. Leaving to honor your duties, you travel across lands to deliver the merchant, Yoru, safely to his destination.

>The Distraction: whether it be an explosion, a barfight, or a lady in a red dress, the distraction finds, opens, or makes the windows the operation needs. A role vital to the success of the mission, but versatile in the ways it can be filled.

This is the team you have chosen to accomplish this task. This mission, should you choose to accept it, is to infiltrate the premises of The Gato Company's flagship casino in The Land of Fire. And I'm all caught up

Here are my thoughts

Most of the characters are pretty great, Tai and Yoru in particular stand out. Rin is... there, she works as a plot device but nothing on a romantic level (yet). She needs more development. Asa is pretty great but her hitting on amon was outta nowhere and kinda outta place (I'm assuming she's doing it to manipulate him).

I enjoy your writing quite a bit red, everything with Myatsu was amazing

The screeching howl of the wind rips through your braided hair as you climb the notched walls of the casino exterior, nearly twenty stories above the ground now.

Okay, so Asa! You stick out, so any security would totally notice you. You're kind of a large target, anyway...
Excuse me?
Nothing! So, here's the game plan! Asa, you'll start by climbing the outside walls. Tai will be working on your entry point, just look for the window with the BLUE LIGHTcoming from it.
Your arrows and stuff will be in there!

Easier said than done, Rin. Though you do admit...
You look down at the black leather jumpsuit Rin had given you, ignoring the ant-sized specs of light in your vision from the town far below.
...she does have a surprisingly good eye for design.

Another storey past and you can see just a faint outline of blue a bit father above- Bingo. You maneuver yourself up along the stonework and glass to the dull light windowpane. Reaching out and tapping it, the rectangular window softly swings forward on its hinge. Tai came through as well.

The amount of effort in this operation has been notable for your group, to be sure. After Yoru managed to wrap Tsunade in her own binding contract, he immediately took to leading the effort in organizing the break-in. But for you, that was expected of him. You have an idea for how he operates by now...your back-and-forths have been admittedly quite...fun. He always meets your little challenges head on with that childish enthusiasm. It's...he's...

-well, for now just be happy with your favorite playtoy, Asa. Speaking of which...how flustered would he get if he saw you in this suit? Hm, that's something to certainly explore later. But right now you're on the clock, Asa, stay focused.

You swing into the ornate, tiled room, your boots silent against the cermaic flooring. This Hear-No-Evil seal of Amon's really is quite amazing. For one, you'd never imagined how FUN this would be. You could be right next to someone and they wouldn't hear you.
But even more fun was his face when you told him to "paint it on my chest". Amon really does care about others too much for his own good...it's cute, you'll admit.

You tread lighter than a cat as you cross through the room. It would seem this is quite the luxurious penthouse. Must be a VIP room or something. You consider looking through this bathroom, before you hear a crash from the large, open lounge outside the restroom doors. You tighten up instinctively. Quickly, the room is searched...but your gear is nowhere to be found.

You crouch closer to the floor, instinctively reducing your profile.
Then you hear the footsteps and voices approaching the bathroom.

Springing to action, your darting eyes catch the sight of the empty, enclosed shower in the corner. Without a second you jump into it and hide behind the small cermaic outcrop separating you from the rest of the restroom. Thankfully, not a single tap of your feet is heard due to the fantastic seal Amon constructed. You shrink into the corner and listen...

"F#$%! You goddamn idiot! You trying to run your grubby hands over everything or are you just too damn stupid to not break everything you see?!"
"I-I'm sorry boss, it was an acci-"
"The only accident I made was hiring your ugly mug! You, get him out of here. You, new guy, wait outside while I take a shower; coming into contact with that street trash grossed me out. "

Your heartbeat seems to echo through the room, despite the fact you know the seal has covered up all noise. A short, narrow-faced man wearing a fine suit strides into the room looking peeved.

Thankfully, it is the voice from behind the bathroom door that stops him. "...I assure you, sir, you'll appear fine without it. You're on a short schedule. There are fleeting opportunities to seize tonight. Such beautiful chances shouldn't be missed for something- or someone- so trivial."

The ill-tempered man stops, tapping his foot impatiently as he thinks. A sly grin spreads along his face as he chuckles out loud, crossing over to the sink instead.
"Well said...I knew there was a reason I hired you, kid. I'll give you this much, you're a cut above the rest of the common muscle. But let's just make it clear that I'mthe one giving YOU the orders, capiche?"

He washes his hands as the silky voice responds from outside. "We'll be late to meet your client. I'll make a call for one of the men to come clean up the mess."

Gato curses to himself as he finishes washing his hands. "F@$#ing pretty boy. Give them one compliment and they think they own the place..."
He finishes up, walking out of the room. You wait until you hear their footsteps fade and the sound of another door swing closed.

You exhale heavily. You almost just got busted there.

Once you've gotten your equipment, it's up to you to infiltrate and secure the documents.
Try to find Tai. He can drag you around the facility and cover you.
If not, at least try to find the Speak-No-Evil tag Tai said he put near the entry point. Amon should be set up and can guide you in Tai's place.
Just ...don't try to make your move on the vault until you get the signal.
T-The signal? Uh...don't worry about it, you'll know it when it happens haha!

You...

You...
>Wait here longer, the other voice with Gato said something about sending up someone else.
>Exit out into the main room, search for your equipment or something. Find out where you are.
>Summon Usagi to scout and secure for you.

You nip your thumb just barely, allowing for a few pricks of blood to dribble out. With a single hand seal and a small puff of smoke, a single white rabbit it sitting on its haunches in front of you. It bats its ears a little bit and looks up to you, curious. "Well now, it looks like you've got quite the interesting date tonight. Last time I saw you dressed in all leather must have been back in..."

You shake your head, annoyed. Not the time or place, Usagi. The rabbit cocks its head, confused for a moment at your silence. You motion for a bit until Usagi just gives a rabbit shrug. As you get up to clean away any trace of blood, you pick up a shiny black bowtie laying next to the sink.
"I'll assume that's the usual, then....got any food?"

You tie the bowtie around the gluttonous rabbit's neck and shoo him away. With a few sprite hops down the hall, he's past the door and into the room outside. You quickly receive the familiar, whispering answer from the bunny in your head.

"No contacts in sight. No contacts heard, either. Room is clear, continuing out into the hallway."

You exit out of the bathroom and into a grand suite of sorts. This must be a VIP room. There is a private bar filled with expensive bottles, an indoor jacuzzi, and even a small private library. You see a bedroom down one marbled hallway and a comfortable, curtained lounge down another. As you finish your surface inspection of the place, you see a small white bundle of fur with a black bowtie shuffle out the slightly cracked open front door.

You...(pick three)

If you were a big, grumpy Tai...where would be the first place you would think of when hiding your equipment...
So you stride up to the private bar confidentally.

At first, the polished red oak and glistening bottles don't seem to be hiding anything extra. But, you know better
than that. The leather suit scrunches as you crouch down to look below the countertop. Next to you is a broken bottle alongside a pungent liquid splashed across the floor- probably the noise you heard earlier. So far, it only looks like there's clean crystal highball glasses and...oh, hello there. The end section seems to be just a thick block of wood supporting the structure of the bar...but you see the edge of a stained hinge just barely along the inside of the countertop. You push into the section and with an audible *click* the front of it swings off to reveal a secret compartment...with your equipment inside.

Nice!

As you start to leave...you take a closer look at the lines of bottles on display as well. While at first all their amber, ruby, and thick black liquids blend together but yet again something catches your eyes. Amid the labels, you spot one that sticks out to you in particular...you remember it vaguely from when Amon painted it in the forest. You peel the carefully placed Speak-No-Evil seal off the front of the expensive glass bottle, sticking it directly on your chest under the leather jumpsuit. As you call out to Amon, you eye one of the bottles...pinot noir? Well, winners take all. You pop it open and test with a few sips....mmm, decent but you expected something more wholesome from the appearence.

"Amon, are you there?"
"Asa! It's good to hear you okay. Did you happen to rendezvous with Tai yet? I can't reach him for some reason."
"Nothing yet, I'll be sure to keep you posted if I find anything though. Asa out."

(DC 50, DC 95 Passed!)
You re-cork the bottle and put it on the shelf before treading over to the bookshelf. Now, if you were an egotistical crime boss you assume that...
...really? The schematics of the Casino are literally in here, labeled. You know you had to be at least somewhat right, but come on. Maybe this is Gato's private penthouse? It would probably explain the lackluster security and information just lying around. You're about to move onto the bedroom when you notice something else. A single, weathered scroll trimmed in gold accents in among the books and being used as a mere bookstop. You take it off the shelf and peel it open...a martial arts scroll? Not only that, but it looks like the figure is holding something similar to that paintbrush staff Amon always has. He'd probably want this badly...how badly is a question you'll test later~

You pocket the find as you move onto the bedroom.

The bed is more luxurious than you've ever seen...hell, maybe even too luxuious.
You didn't think you'd ever say those words, to be honest. This is just...gaudy though.

It's somewhat cluttered, but you begin to remember just how little time you have. Just check off the most important places, Asa. Where to look...of course, the nightstand! A small glass from the bar and a lamp are on the nightstand, but opening the drawers you find several documents. Scanning them, you see today's date scribbled out of the corner of your eye. You read it in its entirety...

It's a report of VIP reservations and major events scheduled for the coming week, this week. It would seem Gato's casino...will be hosting diplomatic guests from Kumogakure.

They will be hosting a party expected to be "closely affiliated to the Raikage", specifically. Your stomach is doing gymnastics. Mission first, Asa, it is probably nothing to be worried about. The serious voice of Usagi in your ear brings you back to reality.

"Asa! There are three contacts approaching your room from the hallway!"

Three contacts approaching from the hallway that will probably be here in minutes, if not seconds...
You've already stolen things from Gato's penthouse...
You're dressed in a skintight, black leather jumpsuit...

...desperate times call for desperate measures, you suppose. You take your position and wait to hear the door open...

*****************************
"So then I told 'im, 'I didn't say ride him, I said pass the horseradish!' "

The three hired thugs guffaw as they amble down the hallway towards Gato's suite.

You and Johnny guffaw openly at the joke. Good ol' Johnny laughs his heart out like always. That new kid though...he just walks alongside ya all quiet like- wearing sunglasses too small for him despite the fact he's indoors. He's a bad egg if you can spot em- and you sure can. Still, money is money. Well, if you have to work alongside one stuck up dirtbag for a paycheck, you will.

The uptight jerk speaks out, confused. "But why would she ride him? He wasn't a horse or any sort of-"

Johnny sighs. "Just forget it, asshole. We've got cleaning to do."

You enter the penthouse first, with the two other following you. Why you needed three guys to clean up a single broken bottle was a mystery, but you start looking for it an-

~Oh, Gato...it's about time you came back~
~Don't you know better than to keep a lady waiting...?~
~I may just need to punish you for it~

Johnny's jaw drops and -looking towards the bedroom- yours joins right along with his. A voluptuous, chocolate skinned woman in skin-tight black leather is wiggling in the sheets of Gato's regal bed.

You hear Johnny hoarsely whisper under his breath next to you. "Ho-ly shiiiiit, please tell me I'm not dreamin."

This is one mess you'll happily clean up. Looks like the good guys don't finish last after all....
"I dunno about you J, but I'm looking forward to this job....J?"

You turn, glassy-eyed, to look at Johnny...only to see him unconscious in the new guy's sleeper hold. The imposter turns on you immediately, before you can react to the sudden betrayal.

You knew he had to be a bad egg, dammit.

Okay, Asa, just sell it and you can walk out of here fine. But unexpectedly, you hear the crunching sound of a fist cracking against bone. Looking up from the bed you see one of the guards, wearing a pair of sunglasses, standing over the two unconscious bodies of his companions. The guard peels off his mustache and removes his sunglas-

AMON?

I was kinda pissed you took the decision away from us, it's one of the shittiest things a QM can do in my opinion but I guess this makes up for it a little. I need to ask though, do our decisions actually matter? Most everything in the last thread was pretty inconsequential, I get that it was a sort of break from all the heavier plot stuff and I'm perfectly fine with it, and Rin's lucky plan is funny but it's also mostly background. Now that you're deciding for us, I'm kinda worried. If I wanted someone to read me a choose your own adventure book and make the decisions for me, I'd ask my mom to pretend I was 5 again.

Your choices matter. I can say for sure the story now isn't anything close to what I had originally planned NMQ to be. If anything, this quest has helped me tremendously in improv buzzed writing more than anything else lol

I can see your reasoning, I just don't like it when DMs or QMs take decisions away from their players, agency is the only reason to be a part of a quest.

Now I'm wondering why everyone's not picking the choice you probably wanted us to. I guess only the Rinfags are her tonight. I don't see why they don't want to have fun, I'd choose the same thing if it was Rin instead of Asa.

You casually get up from the bed as if nothing happened, intentionally swaying your hips as your glide across the bedroom towards the impressionable young man. You watch him closely as he uncomfortably glances at your leather-clad figure, coughs, and looks away for a moment. It seems like he learned his lesson and isn't looking directly into your eyes any more...that's no fun, but if he wants to play hardball...

"I just managed to pick apart this room for information. I found out a few...juicy bits of info. I'm sure you aren't interested though."

Amon attempts to conceil the deep breath he's taking...of course you notice it, though. He doesn't realize just how adorably obvious he is~

"I...I am very interested, Asa. Thank you for everything you've done so-"

"Thank me? Well, if you insist, I'll think of a few ways you can...but for now, it seems I may have friends from Kumogakure here today. I need you now more than ever, Amon. Will you be there for me?"

Amon looks you directly in the eyes out of the blue, his honest eyes burning with a passionate determination. "Always, Asa, I care about you. I'd never leave you behind."

You can't help but blush slightly under his intense stare. Amon...confuses you, sometimes. At some points he's nearly childlike in his innocence, but at other times...

...times like these....he's almost magnetic. It's...

You shake your head abruptly. Focus, Asa.

"What have I missed so far, mighty monk? Why are you dressed as a hired thug? Where are the others?"

Amon looks at his own disguise quizzically. "Oh, this? Tai left it for me in the bathrooms. I figured it would be more inconspicuous to be walking around as a nameless hired hand than to be sitting around somewhere guiding everyone."

He takes off the sunglasses breifly, showing you the inside of their lenses. The See-No-Evil seal is carved into their thick glass interior. He put them back on, thinking. "As for the others...last time I checked: Rin said she saw something and went off chasing someone down, Shizune was 'trapping a target', Tai lost contact with us, and Yoru...well, Yoru was doing what Yoru can only do best...."

So, it's boiled down to this...
A casino, a criminal organization, and the well-being of your best man
When this day came, you thought it would be harder than just a few simple games
A foreign corporatation lead by a criminal mastermind threatens the security of your homeland's borders
Today is the day that they will all know this name by heart...

The dealer, self-introduced to the current players as "James", looks annoyed as he repeats his question to the tuxedo'd man sitting across the high-roller table.
"To play at the high stakes table, you must register your name and the organization you play for, sir."

The man in the tux looks up from his brief lapse in thought, flashing a charming grin.
"Norihime. Yoru, Norihime."
"For Konoha, James."

You glance curiously at your competitors around the table as you consider your role in Rin's plan.

Okay, Yoru! You're really smart and stuff, so you need to go and make a BIIIIG distraction at the tables somehow.
How? Uhhh...don't worry about it, just make sure it attracts some of the guards away from other parts of the casino

You smirk lightly as you continue to assess the competance of your opponents. Just a distraction? C'mon, you need a bigger challenge than that...

The player to your right, an old man in a white suit.
The players to your left, a younger woman and a rather well-muscled man in a crew cut.
Split by the dealer at the other end...two rather intimidating figures, both brazenly displaying their Kumogakure headbands.

Hardly an effort. The game is blackjack, you've been dealt a three...house has a king.
Around the are as follows:

White Suite: Five
Man from Kumo with the sungalsses: Nine
Man from Kumo with the sour expression: Seven
The younger woman: Ten
The Crew Cut: Another Five

It seems luck is in your favor. You have a higher than normal probability of a winning combination...

Tai, Shizune, and I will come by to help you out eventually! Until then, just make chaos!

>You have a fair idea you'll win. Boring, but play the hand through until the conclusion
>Fold and go look around the floor
>Talk to contact Amon through the Speak-No-Evil seal stuck to your abs.
>Excuse yourself to use the restroom, you have a contact to meet

You casually lean into the green felt table, addressing the particularly nasty looking Kumogakure ninja. "So, I've been wondering about something...does Kumo send their brightest to foreign casinos, or just their riskiest?"

The dark-skinned man snarls back to you. "You'll learn that Kumogakure wins more things than just cards, Konoha boy."

Another round is dealt. You now have a Three and a Queen. House has a King and Four.

White Suit: Five and Nine
Kumo with sunglasses: Nine and Eight
Kumo nasty: Seven and Four
Younger Woman: Ten and Ace (Bust)
Crew Cut: Five and Two

You grin openly. This game has been decided. You look back to the Kumo man, feigning surprise as the final round is dealt across the table...

"Three, Queen, and Six. Mr. Norihime wins with twenty-one."

The rest of the table collectively sighs as you claim the large prize, a vein bulging in the Kumo man's temple as you do so. As you excuse yourself from the table and exit the room with your winnings, you stop only briefly and turn to address the man with a look of feigned concern. "My condolences to Kumo, hopefully their luck doesn't drag them down too far."

As you close the door, you hear the sounds of a table cracking from a brutal impact and the crackling of hundreds of chips scattering across the floor.

You review yoru own plan as you close the small briefcase of casino chips. A distraction was hardly enough effort to you. A simple distraction later and this business would churn on as normal.

But with your idea in the works...
The House won't win tonight. The House may not ever win again, if everything goes to plan.
It's time to break their scheme.

You review the schematics of the building in your head. Currently, you're exiting the VIP tables. Directly outside is the normal betting floor. Next door to this room is both the Pachinko hall and the slots. Nearby is a bar...you believe Amon and some of the others will be returning here frequently. His efforts and ability will be key to gathering data to the success of your operation. You will need to meet Tai in the restrooms soon to gather your own equipment.

The night dances away as you continue to think, time is a-wasting...

You...

>Grab a drink at the bar, see if anyone shows up. You're expecting either Shizune or Amon
>Meet Tai to collect what equipment you couldn't sneak in yourself
>Go to the slot hall. This will be crucial for your plan by the end of the night

Now that's what I call a Tai breaker!

I'm not sorry
>>
You'll need to gear up first. You stride unassumingly towards the men's restroom, opening the door and waiting in the stall second farthest from the left. You hang up your slightly oversized jacket on the inside of the door...and wait, thinking about what comes next.

First, acquire the smuggled equipment from Tai. The others will most likely be busy, it is up to you to get the equipment to Amon for him to distribute among the others. Rin will be proccupied aligning events just right. Shizune is disguised as a waitress. Amon will be roaming and overlooking the details of the operation among the crew. Tai is still undercover.

Second to your plan, you will need to rig three of the slot machines to hit jackpots at once to draw away security from the tables. Tai has helped tremendously in these efforts.

Third, it is up to you, Shizune, Tai, and Rin to take advantage of the lapse in security to both replace the decks of cards on the gambling floor and take control of the cashier booth. The decks will be collectively stacked so that the entire floor will win at once against the house. This will draw all security in the facility to the floor as the crowds rush to cash out- breaking the house in the process.

Fourth, you will personally use this distraction and the cooperation of Shizune to break into Gato's executive office, relieving the man of any classified documentation and his personal finances.

Lastly, it is up to the others, namely Rin, to create a getaway for the rest of the crew to escape.

As you finish...the door opens and footsteps make their way across the room into the stall next to you. After a few moments, a small duffel bag is slid under the stall door.
Tai's hoarse voice whispers through the thin wall, "Things here are more dangerous than they seem, Yoru. Gato has a handful of powerful men on his payroll. Don't bite off more than you can chew; I'm not sure if I can bail any of you out of this one."

You open the bag, removing just what you had been waiting for. Your latest invention, a rectangular-looking handheld object no larger than half the width of your torso.
Your first, prototypical invention...The Automatic Kunai Projectile Mechanism, Prototype 0, mark n....the Kunai Launcher, AM0n model, for short. It fires a deadly, short range burst of kunai from it's interior clip. It's inaccurate at anything beyond short range and jams easily...but for something you had to build with whatever materials you had on the road, it's a success in all respects.

Future models will probably be hair-triggered or semi-auto, but for now this handheld, spreadshot beauty will do just fine.

You take a scan through the rest of the materials in the bag: A small dusty vial and several needles you recognize as being for Shizune, your own lockpick kit and a single deck of cards, a retractible metal staff for Amon, a few sticks of gum and a pack of matches- strangely enough- for Rin, what you recognize to be an out-of-place stuffed bear, and several odd scrolls.

The entirety of the plan is beyond you...even you're not sure how this is meant to play out.

You collect the items and stuff them in choice areas of your own baggy suit coat. The duffel bag is pulled back under the divider as you hear Tai open the door and leave the restroom.

What comes next?

You make your way over to the slot room. Time for the first phase of the plan....

As Tai explained the situation, this Casino rigs its own slot machines in order to maximize their profits while minimizing their losses. At any given point in time, only three slot machines are programmed to be capable of winning any sort of prize. Any others not designated as winning machines will never be able to profit, only achieving any sort of prize below the money spent to play. These three winning machines cycle every twelve minutes, or five times every hour, according to a set, proprietary sequence that neither you nor Tai are aware of yet.

Why does this matter? It matters because the probability of a jackpot rises the closer the current time reaches the end of the hour while the probability of less lucrative prizes is higher at the beginning of the hourly cycle. In order to prevent heavy losses on such a policy that encourages heavier betting in the beginning and end periods, the casino uses a proprietary "code" that will force a jackpot on a winning machine...allowing a disguised employee to take a particularly large and potentially damaging jackpot to the business and return it to the house without customers realizing.

All customers see are jackpots being awarded to slot players...they don't even realize they are being cheated out of the grand prize by employees of the casino itself.

Again, why does this matter...?
Because...Tai managed to acquire this proprietary code. All you need to do is figure out which machines will win...and when.
The floor is apparently watched closely. As you look on you see suited guards patrolling the rows of slots- no funny business, it seems.

[There is high potential to raise the alarm in this segment! Find out the sequence behind the winning machines, mark them, and don't get caught!]

There are 100 slots. The time is currently 9:56pm.

A new hourly cycle will begin soon. You need to work fast, you don't have much time to waste here. You still need to deliver the items to the others...

...speaking of which, they're probably already in the midst of completing their own responsibilities in this, damn!

No time to lose, you...

Well, knowing that's intentional, each column might start with 1, and has a number added behind it as it goes down the columns and rows, starting with an understood 0 in row 1 and going down from there? So column 9, row 1 (going from the left) could be 12, and each to the left would be higher, so 13, 14, 15, etc. It goes to 0 when it runs out of single digit numbers. Then from there they add another number behind, so Column 10, Row 3 would be 12, and Column 9, row 3 would be 122.

It fits, with the numbers you gave us, at least.

Hm, you need more information to deal with this. You stand still in the crowd for a moment and call out into your head, focusing on the Hear-No-Evil tag.

"Amon, my man, are you there?"
"O-oh, Yoru? Good to hear from you! I just ah...reconnected...with Asa upstairs. What's up?
"I'm trying to figure out the slots. Have you been watching them by chance? Knowing what machines have won prizes valued beyond the price to play would help me right now."
"Valued beyond...you mean winners who got more than their money back? Sure, let me think realllly quick..."
[dashes indicate a blank space in the sequence]
Those wins in the past hour were as follows...

At 9:05pm slot machines 2, 3, and 5 all won those types of prizes
At 9:20pm machines 4, 6, and --- won
At 9:28pm machines ---, 15, and 25 won
At 9:43pm machine 24, ---, --- was the only winner
At 9:53pm not that long ago, actually, machine ---, ---, 45 was the only winner strangely. The grand prize has not yet been won, so the jackpot is still building.
"Hope that helps. Asa and I may run into some resistance in a bit, we may be unable to get back to you. Stay safe, Yoru, and good luck!"

Amon cuts out.
Interesting...while the pattern remains the same, you don't know if the sequence itself may change in between hourly cycles. You have an inkling of what the pattern may be now, but you're not entirely sure. If you wait or take too long to decide, the hour may pass and the sequence reset at a new point but use the same pattern.

So...guess now or gather more information, it seems.

You...
>Think you know what the winning machines are. Guess and use the proprietary code (What are the machines?)
>Try to gain more information. Wait to see the next round of winners at the beginning of the hour.
>Try to bribe or sweet talk several of the goers or guards for information
>Check the machines for some sort of distinguishing marks....could draw attention to you.
>Try to break into a machine and change the programming by hand (Warning, highly dangerous!)
>Write in
>>
>>837094
Alright, if the number of jackpots doesn't change in the pattern, we have one shot at getting 3 machines. So waiting might not be a good idea. I wish I was better at pattern problems like this, I was always much better at physics, they're so much easier for me to solve.

QM Note: The sequence can be solved using the information on the first four cycles/machines that payed out.

The last cycle provides additional information about how the sequence adjusts to the limited set of machines.

That said, I'm going to pause a little while on this puzzle and continue tomorrow. Consider this thinking time.

Thread continues much earlier tomorrow as I am done with classes then. Most likely will start around 6pm and go on until Friday AM.

Guessing the machines now will give you an extra lil' prize. There are other ways to figure out the machines (like inspecting them and other such stuff), but these carry high risk of ALARM alongside their high DC's.

Night for now!
>>
>>837130
For anyone else trying to solve this, the only things I think of note that I've seen is that if you put the numbers into a table, each number in a column is a multiple of the first number in it's column, aka the first set.

Both of row 2's numbers are the row 1's multiplied by 2, and row 3's are x5. This breaks down on row 3 though, because 2x5 is 10, and that's already won this cycle. It's wrong on row 4, because 5x12 is greater than 100.
>>
>>837217
Some good points and wrong points.

You're taking a different approach than the two I set aside as correct answers, but it isn't wrong. Just note that the same machine could win twice, as nothing was said to the contrary.

I seriously have no idea how to do this, someone better at puzzle solving has to do it. Every solution I come up with doesn't fit any pattern, they all break down.

All I can say is that 10 is the most likely number for the blank in column 3 row 2 because it fits with the x2 and because there's a constant increase of 20 from each number in the set. So with this logic 35 is most likely the blank in column 3 row 4. The blank in column 1 row 5 would most likely be 34 then, following the -1 on the first number in a row compared to the last number in the row before. Since now all the numbers but 1 in column 1 end in 4 and also because arbitrarily putting in an increase of 10 sort of fits, column 1 row 3 would most likely be 14. It doesn't follow any pattern, but I've stopped caring anymore and accepted there's no way my pitiful brain will ever be able to solve this. GG number sequence puzzles, you got me again.

I have no idea how I would find the blanks in column 2, other than someone better than me noticing something I haven't. All I can see is that from row 1 to row 2 there's an increase of 3, fitting with the x2 on row 2, and an increase of 9 from row 2 to row 3.

So here's my undoubtedly wrong number sets. I know there are huge flaws in my logic and reasoning, I'm just hoping someone manages to sift through all this and figure out the pattern. The numbers I've filled in are in commas.

2, 3, 5
4, 6, '10'
'14', 15, 25
24, ---, '35'
'34', ---, 45

The only thing I'm nearly sure about is column 3, it fits too well, and that every number in rows 2 through 5 are multiples of the numbers in row 1. Other than that it's up in the air. Someone who can actually solve puzzles and aren't steaming shit at them like me pick up where I left off. Or Red'll just tell me I'm as wrong as wrong can be and we'll just move on. I'm guessing that's far more likely, I departed from finding a pattern long ago.

After typing all this and doing all that work, I've noticed that, if 10 is indeed the number in column 3 row 2's position, the first two numbers in each rows 1 and 2 would equal the last number. So 10 could also fit in column 1 row 3. This doesn't work for rows 4+ though. I thought it might help someone to know that addition seems to be a very important part of this problem on top of multiples.

tl;dr you probably shouldn't have even bothered reading this if you did

You're really close and have already found some of the major patterns. I'll give you a hint...ten is used twice. Also the set of 100 machines will come into play in row 5 as things may loop back once that threshold is passed.

Enjoying the fact someone is putting effort into this.
>>
>>837507
Alright so that basically confirms the first two blanks as 10. They're the only thing that made sense anyway, it came up in most other patterns I tried that weren't arbitrary.

It also proves what I said about the correlation between the numbers in the column, the middle is twice as far away from the third than the first, don't know how much it really matters though, other than pointing out everything's a multiple of the original set.

Knowing what I know about the pattern now, 35 seems to be the only real answer for column row 4, even though I haven't found a pattern to fit it. I can't think of any other multiple of 5 that would work, so I'm just going to start filling in numbers based off that and hope I can notice a pattern. So going from there, 27 and 30 are possibilities, but I see no pattern fitting them there. 28 would fit into the correlation before, but isn't a multiple of 3, which makes me think it's wrong.

Now that I've fit in numbers to hope to find a pattern 36 and 39 in row 5 fit well, it works with the first 3 row's correlation.

I still don't see a pattern, but I'm confident some of these numbers are right. Other than the 10s, those were given to me.

2, 3, 5
4, 6, '10'
'10', 15, 25
24, '30', '35'
'36', '39', 45

I'll keep trying, but I don't think I'll be able to find it.
>>
>>837795
You're off by a bit now. Row 4 and 5 are wrong but 1-3 are correct. With that information alone and what I've told you, you can solve this problem.

Don't think too hard. Look at it fresh again. I'll give my last hint a little more than an hour before the thread starts

See our starting point
2, 3, 5
4, 6, ---
---, 15, 25
24, ---, ---
---, ---, 45

If we assume everything has the same multiplier by row, that gives us the first four rows, 1-2-5-12. I presume the multiplier keeps building higher by larger amounts, by 1, by 3, by 7, which makes the 45 strange, going from 12 to 9... unless it looped around. In which case, 45 may in fact be 145. Which leads us to;
2, 3, 5 = a x 1
4, 6, '10' = a x 2
'10', 15, 25 = a x 5
24, '36', '60' =? a x 12
'58', '87', 45(145), =? a x 29
>>
>>837830
Oh! Each builds by the previous two multipliers added together! So the second row multiplier is equal to row 1(1)+1=2. Row three is row 2(2) + (2+1) = 5. Row four is row 3(5) + (2+5) = 12. Row five is row 4(12) + (5+12) = 29.

Kinda annoyed at myself for not noticing that earlier.

Never even noticed this. I'm shittier at puzzles than I thought.

Also my sleep deprived mind last night thought 5x12 would be greater than 100 and I just realized that was wrong, so I'll just go with being sleepy as an excuse.

So if we put it in algrebra, with the current row being x, the previous being y, and the solution being z, the formula would be z = 2x + y?

sure

a better way would be to label the rows as the variables (for any arbitrary column, as they share the same modifier)

So in this case, row one would be X(1) while row two X(2).
We'll call an arbitrary row X(i), where i can be any real number.

given this, we can express the relationship of an arbitrary row in the sequence to the others as follows:
X(i)= 2X(i-1) + X(i-2)

In the end, how this translates numerically depends on the initial base of the sequence. Since the initial base is also fundamentally a equivalence expression (2+3=5), this would hold for any further rows (e.g. 4+6=10, 58+87=145) as the multiplying by a constant is a linear operation and doesn't alter the underlying logical equivalence!

MATH!

Its great to see math puzzles being used in a quest.

Presumably the average casino employee cant be assed to do simple algebra once an hour, so we should look for visual clues as we trigger the machines.

My guess is a specific light blinking out of time on each machine. Nearly impossible to notice in the sea of lights, but easy for even a dumb employee to look for when walking the floor.
>>

The sequence at first confuses you, but you gradually piece it together piece-by-piece. Ah, a recursive-based pattern, eh? Clever, but not nearly clever enough for the enterprise you're trying to run here, Gato. The sequence would imply...machines 58, 87, and 45 are currently capable of winning, at least for the next five minutes or so that is.

Let's teach these goons a lesson in underestimating Konoha...

As you hustle down the aisles to locate the nearest machine, you almost catch the attention of a rather large man in a hulking suit of red armor. You manage to act casually as he stares you down, finally dropping from his radar when you sit down at the 45th machine. Whew, just by looks alone you could tell he was someone in authority here, probably the gambling floor manager.

Inspecting the machine quickly, you don't notice any sort of differences between it and the normal ones around it...until you spot an odd, green speck of light along the side panel.

The others don't seem to have this, on your second glance.
Yoru beats the odds yet again.

You input the code quickly into the machine: insert one coin, wait, insert three, wait again, and finally insert another three....

The machine flickers for a moment, then flashes back to life as though nothing happened. The next person to use this slot machine will find themselves quite a bit richer...and possibly in some trouble. You move inconspicuously to the last two machines down the hall, avoiding the overwatching gaze of the red-armored guard. These two also had the same, single green light barely shining out from under a removable side panel.

Bingo!

By the time the clock strikes 10:00pm, you're already a ways away.
The House doesn't win tonight.

You walk to the familiar girl wearing the skimpy bunny costume. She begins to sigh with relief, lowering her guard slightly as she approaches you.
Now, now, we can't have that on the job. You stop her with a cocky grin.

"Thank you waitress. I'd like a vodka martini...shaken, not stirred."

"Yoru, what are you...?"

"Ah, is my name already that well know around here? No, put it on my tab instead, please. That's under Mr. Norihime, Executive of the Norihime Corporation."

Shizune gives you a dirty look before grabbing ahold of your arm. You slyly maneuver so that instead you walk side-by-side, her arm wrapped through your own. Shizune shakes her head, decorative ears flopping slightly.

"Oh my god, I can't believe you're actually doing this right now. You're really getting into this, aren't you?"

You flash a cocky grin back to the disguised waitress. "No need to be so...hopping mad now, Madame."

Shizune pinches the bridge of her nose with her free hand, turning back to you she only gets a trademark Yoru grin.

"You're going to drive me even more crazy than I am now. This dress has been bunching up in all the wrong places."

"More crazy? But you're already looking quite...rabi-"

Taking a note from Tsunade's book, Tsunade covers your mouth with her hand.

You slip Shizune the vial of the dusty, powder-like substance under her arm. She glances curiously, then in one deft movement removes her hand, snags the vial, and slips it into the top of her black corset. She has quite the sleight of hand.

With a deep breath, the girl looks back to you calmly, whispering. "Rin managed to stack the replacement decks. I only caught Tai for a moment, but he told me he'd be helping Rin and I exchange most of the cards on the floor for the altered decks during the replacement period."

Once you've set the slots to pump out dosh to kingdom come, you gotta help us replace the decks of cards!
Once an evening, the casino will change out the already worn cards for new decks before the busiest period!
Our own switched decks are gonna be stacked so that half of the room wins their games simultaneously!
Arranging the cards? O-of course I got it covered! You don't think I can count or something?! It's for uh...tables of four, right?

You are really counting on Rin right now. Shizune takes a glance ahead before abruptly changing directions into the thickest part of the crowd. You look back to see a short, grey-haired man in sunglasses walking across the floor. He looks sour, frankly. Next to him, probably his bodyguard, a tall man with....

...No, it can't be. Your eyes widen reflexively at the shock, but Shizune elbows you in the side to bring you back to reality.

You feel a light weight in your coat pocket, suddenly. "I managed to pickpocket Gato's keys earlier. Maybe next time he'll be less handsy," Shizune hastily whispers with finality. "I need to go deal with several of the guards; the spotlight is yours, Yoru."

She steps away and speaks louder, giving you a professional smile as she does so. "Oh, thank you for the escort Executive Norihime, I'll make sure to get your drink right away."

There are a few murmors in the crowd immediately around you, but nothing too serious. You'll have to make a bigger splash than this...but it's a start. You may not want to attract...certain people's attention yet, though.

You look back towards Gato and his bodyguard ambling through the room. The slots are bound to be triggered soon, you should take a position or plan something...

>Find Rin, have her stir up the crowd with you
>Wait until the slots go off. Gato will most likely send all his guards...including HIM...to deal with the situation. Challenge the crime boss to a game of poker.
>See if you can break into the executive office now

Heads up, QM will go dark for a bit around 10:30. Switching spots then.

The bushy haired man and his slighly hunched bodyguard stride through the hall arrogantly. You steel yourself in the crowd, focusing yourself once again on the Hear-No-Evil seal.

Amon, talk to me buddy. I have some news for you.
Yoru? How is everything so far downstairs?
Slots are minutes away from striking gold at most. Now, don't tell Asa what I'm about to tell you, but-

~Oh, and what is this that Asa shouldn't know, Mr. Norihime?~

Ah, damn. You forgot these things are all linked. You've gotten used to just blocking out any outside thoughts for so long that it'd slipped your mind that others could listen if they wanted. You hear a sharp noise come from the slot hall. Think quickly...

"Shouldn't know? Come now Asa, I'm hardly the type that could withhold anything from you. The surprise just happens to be the best part."
"~My, how chivalrous of you, Yoru. So how about you...surprise me?~"
"Hm, maybe in a little while. I can't let the fun stop now, can I?"

"Guys, I'm still here....what was it Yoru?"

Ah, right, Amon.

"Just...be careful. There are some dangerous characters here."
"I was going to tell you the same. Yoru, there is a heavy, dark chakra moving about the Casino. It shouldn't be near you, thankfully. Just be careful, I'm not sure what it is or where it may pop up."
"No guarantees, Norihime Policy. Yoru out."

The sharp noise becomes the endless, sharp blaring of bells and whistles. You see neon flashing lights through the doors. A sign above them flashes in bright, celebratory red.
JACKPOT! JACKPOT! JACKPOT!

The noises stop but then pick up immediately. Gato looks shocked, then infuriated as the rest of the patrons turn to observe the calamatous uproar from the multiple grand prizes awarded in successsion. He yells at the long-haired bodyguard next to him and some nearby guards, who all collect the rest of security in the room and head towards the slots.

As they hustle off, you take your opportunity. Striding forward out of the crowd and into the open floor, you approach the short businessman with a charsimatic grin....

When from somewhere in the crowded room, you hear a familiar voice. Rin screams out over the hushed, mumbling crowd as you approach Gato from several meters away.

"OH MY GOSH, LOOK! IT'S THE ILLUSTRIOUS BILLIONAIRE EXECUTIVE OF THE NORIHIME CORPORATION, YORU NORIHIME! IT'S REALLY REALLY HIM! HE'S THERE!"

In that second, all eyes in the room -including Gato's- swivel to face the well-dressed young man confidently swaggering towards the owner of Casino. You offer your hand. "Gato, it is a delight to make your acquaintance. How about a friendly game between tycoons, hm? I insist..."

You take your seat among the other players at the table. As you do so, you see a flash of bunny ears darting amid the tables in the room. Not only that, but you see a tattooed Tai in a dealer's outfit wheeling around "fresh" decks of cards to the game tables in the room. Across the room, you see Rin replacing the roulette balls as the customers and employees are enthralled by the game between practical royalty beginning in front of them.

There is going to be an even larger jackpot soon.

Sitting across from you on the other side of the table is Gato. Between the two of you...are the two men from Kumogakure, apparently directly related by blood to their Raikage. This is quite literally a battle among regional powers...and you, pretending to be one. Well, you're only "pretending" for now, that is.

Yet, you can already tell immediately you're the most competant player at the table.

Gato seems to be impatient, the Kumo ninja with sunglasses just seems to be in this for fun, and the other Kumo nin is fairly ill-tempered.

Let the games...begin.

The dealer passes two cards to each player at the table. You bend the corners up only slightly, just enough to identify your hand.
NINE OF SPADES
EIGHT OF SPADES

The crowd watches the table intently, all other games in the room have now stopped.
It's showtime.

'So, Gato...how's the little shipping business of yours going? I expect your making a small profit, at least?"

"You can see for yourself just how lucrative it is, Mr. Norihime. Business is booming these days."

You casually scratch the side of your nose, disinterested. "Oh, yeah, booming hunh...well, sometimes success is too boring for men of our stature, wouldn't you agree? Why, money hardly even makes much of a difference to me anymore....so why not make this interesting..."

You slam your briefcase of chips you'd won earlier onto the table, flipping it open with a flick of your thumbs. The burly Kumo ninja glares openly at you as you reveal the hundreds on hundreds of chips to the rest of the gaping public...nearly 8,300,000 Ryo in chips.

"Consider this my ante. Surely nothing more than a pittance to someone of your stature, Gato. Unless, of course...business may not have been as gilded as you say...?"

The crowd mumors scandalously, whispers and glancing towards Gato spread like wildfire. You see the other players' mixed reactions. Sunglasses just shrugs, starting to jam out to some beat in his head. The angry looking Kumo twitches uncomfortably. Gato just picks up his cards and calmly looks back to you....directly in the eye.

"You really know how to take advantage of a man's hospitality, Yoru, I'll give you that. I'll match and raise your ante..."

Gato takes enough chips from beside the stammering dealer and matches your own bet, before reaching into his pocket and throwing something else onto the table...

A pair of...earrings?

"A treasure recovered from the ruins of The Land of Whirlpools. I'm told they hold unknown, mystic powers...but I'm no ninja. They're worth far more than anything you could possibly offer, Mr. Norihime."

There are gasps and "ooh's" from the crowd around you. The Kumo Ninja look to each other and grudgingly place the remainder of their chips onto the table...only about a fourth of your own. Still, it is enough to buy in.

The initial three-card spread is dealt face-up on the green table.

You discreetly glance around the table.
The sunglasses ninja is openly frowning.
The other Kumo ninja has an eyebrow raised, but his face is still sour.
Gato just...sits there, glaring at you still.

"Amon, if you're there I could use a favor..."
The response comes back rather shaky... "Yoru? Oh man, you almost scared me there."
"My apologies, but I need your help. Is something the matter?"
"I....I'm not quite sure. I parted ways with Asa as we approached the basement and am on the way back. I think...that chakra from earlier I told you about? I think I just passed by its source, a bandaged man who looked almost stitched together.
"What matter is you are fine, Amon. I need help upstairs. Can you tap into any seals around the Tables and tell me what cards the three men I'm playing against have?"
"The men you're playing against? I think so, but...I'm worried for Asa."
"Asa is a strong woman, Amon. She doesn't always need help and if she wants it she will ask for it. I believe in her. I need your help now though."
"....alright, one minute."

The sunglasses has a TWO OF HEARTS and a 5 OF DIAMONDS.
The other ninja is too broad to see fully...but I see a SEVEN OF DIAMONDS.
Gato...he's holding his cards rather close to his chest. All I can tell is he HAS A PAIR OF SOME SORT.

"Hope that helps, Yoru. I'm on my way upstairs."

You tap the table- Check. The other two ninja follow suit. But, when it comes turn for Gato to make a move he grabs an indiscriminate number of chips and throws them onto the table. He grins maliciously.

"I raise, Mr. Norihime...or do you not have enough to call that?"

Tsk, how tasteless.

The Kumo nin look to each other, then sit back to enjoy the show. The crowd watches, silently enraptured by the passionate entrepreneur.

"Blood, Sweat, and Tears are how I earned my position here today, Gato! Unlike you, I offer only what I have earned myself! Remember today, Gato!"

You reach into your jacket, ripping out the (false) title to ownership of the Norihime Corporation and slamming on the table. All eyes bulge on realizing just how large the stakes were just raised. Several people in the crowd faint.

"Remember today, the day that the better man won- and for the people! Remember today...and the name YORU NORIHIME!"

Gato stands himself, red in the face and veins bulging. "YOU...YOU MANIAC! What kind of bastard are you, carrying around something like that in your goddamn pocket?! DO YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME OR SOMETHING, HUNH?!"

He spasms for a moment, before pulling out a document from his own pocket.
The deed to the casino property.

All eyes dart towards the horrified dealer as he flips the final card....

The card flips...

>10 of spades

Gato laughs maniacally, scaring a group of the patrons away. "YOU FOOL! YOU GODDAMN FOOL! I WIN! I WIN IT ALLL!"
He throws down his cards...
>Two Tens
>Gato has a Full House

The Two Kumogakure ninja shake their heads, throwing down their own cards
>Two of Hearts, Five of Diamonds
>Bust!

>Six of Hearts, Seven of Diamonds
>Three of a kind!

You sit back down, straining to keep yourself from laughing out loud and looking like a fool (as Gato is). You fake a pensive look before slowly turning over your hand....
The crowd goes silent, then begins to cheer wildly!

>Yoru Norihime: 7 of Spades, 8 of Spades, Nine of Spades, 10 of Spades, Jack of Spades
>Straight Flush
>YORU WINS!

The audience accompanies their cheers with rounds of applause as Gato and the table look on, dumbfounded, while you collect the unimaginably hefty prize.

While there may not have been a Norihime Corporation before...with several million Ryo and the deed to a top property, there may just be now.

"I-Impossible...you had to have cheated!" Gato stammers. "Y-You must have switched the cards!!"

Before he can continue the pitiful display, you begin to hear shouts from across the gaming room...as tables begin to win left and right...

One by one, every table begins to win enourmous sums....all against the House.
Every.
Single.
Table.

It looks like Rin may have just pulled through after all...

Gato pales, quintessential fear possessing his once frenzied face. The crowds begin to swell and burst like waves across the floor on realizing what has just happened.

While Gato may have just lost the future of his casino...
...he still has to pay out while it is in operation.

"S-SHUT IT DOWN! ALL OF IT! EVERYONE, CLOSE IT DOWN!" Gato is panicking, trying to fight his way through the flooding crowds rushing across the floor to the open and staffed cashier booth.

Now is your chance! You pack your winnings into the briefcase as tight as you can and throw it to the waving Tai in the crowd. He catches it and disappears as you dive headfirst into the human riot, stuffing the deed and treasure into your jacket as you do.

The crowd is a full mob.

This may have been TOO good of a distraction...
You are buffeted by the near animalistic stampede of bodies, trampling over each other to cash in their winning. You try to get across the room, but you're no ninja or soldier. You're pushed, shoved, and tackled out of the way in the current. You nearly fall to the ground and are trampled, but crash headfirst into a solid, muscled chest standing alone in the crowd- bodies parting around him.

It's the Kumogakure ninja.
The angry one.

"Nice try, Norihime. You got gots. But...you also got our cash. We don't take that kind of disrespect lightly, punk."

He pushes you forcefully through the crowd, flinging you through numerous bodies with his immense strength. Everytime you nearly topple over, he's there to toss you yet again like a ragdoll. Eventually, your back cracks against the opposite wall. Seems like you managed to get through...in a few pieces, albeit. You hold your bruised and beaten body as the ocean of people part, the Kumo nin approaching you slowly as the air crackles around him.

You need a plan, and quick.

The chaos of the gambling tables has left broken furniture, dry wall, and dirt scattered all across the floor. It may not be the most heroic of moves to take...but an opportunity is an opportunity, and you are a businessman after all. You feign to be in (well, more than you are in now) intense pain and slide down to the floor. You grab a handful of the dusty debris on the floor as the ninja approaches closer, face hardened with disgust. Now's your chance!

Yoru uses Sand-Attack!
It's super effective!!

The hulking man cries out in surprise, streams of curses spitting from his mouth as he tries to rub the detritus from his blinded eyes. You stumble away quickly, putting ground between you and your handicapped opponent before pulling out your prototype Kunai Launcher.

Adios, partner. You pull the trigger at the ninja, clawing at his eyes furiously.
*CRACK*
The weapon jams horribly, kunai clogging the barrel terribly. Looks like it is back to the drawing board for the dispersion mechanism...
You stuff it quickly into your jacket as you turn the corner to a broad, finely-carpeted hallway as the assailant swipes wildly at the air around him. If anywhere would lead to the executive office...it would be this route. But, you hear voices getting closer from around the corner in front of you! You duck into the nearby supply closet and close the door. Just in time too, as you hear several pairs of footsteps and panicked voices run past your position and to the situation waiting for them at what had once been the tables.

You hobble out of the closet, shuffling down the hallway with the thick carpet underneath your feet. Turning the corner...you see it at the end, a fine black oak door setting it aside from the others.

Gato really had quite the inferiority complex, didn't he?

Regardless, you trudge up to the door and remove the keys from your pocket. As soon as the door closes behind you, you're supporting yourself on the rich, mahogeny desk decorated with various expensive ornaments...

Where to look first for any classified documents or financial documentation...

(MAX FIND, NORMAL FIND)

You start with the greedy executive's titantic desk. This thing must have taken a whole tree to build.

How tacky.

You quickly find several documents detailing criminal ventures within the Land of Fire and The Land of Tea, surprisingly. Additionally, you find a strange map of a place you aren't quite sure you've seen before...

In the corner, the worn letters are barely legible. "Uzushiogakure"

As you are about to call your search off as a success, you accidentally slam your knee into the desk and recoil in terrible pain! But...with an audible *pop* a small drawer, hidden within the solid wooden base of the desk, slides out. In it lies a single item...a black scroll embroidered with designs of red clouds. Quite an aesthetically pleasing design, you take all of the items with you as you turn to the table.

You sift through the papers as quickly as you can. You're not sure just how much time you have left here. In your rush, papers fall off from the table and fly across the room. Thankfully...you manage to find a small balance sheet of Gato's accounts next to a partially drained cup of coffee. You're confident this has a financial record of activities within the Gato Company never meant to see the light of day.

Any enterprise of the Gato Company outside their native borders is done for.

Finally, you turn to the last and most enigmatic of the items in the spacious room.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5EIWoSNZ3A&start=01:00&end=03:00

The golden cup.

It looks as though the scales weren't carved into the thick, solid gold of the ancient cup...but rather were forged into it. You're not sure what exactly this is or how old it is...
...but you have an odd feeling its value couldn't be measured in any amount of money either you or Gato have.

You feel...drawn to it, in a way. As if it is calling out into the depths of a space unknown...
...but not to you.

You're no ninja...hell, you don't have chakra...but even you can feel the strange, deep rumble seemingly echoing out from the heavy-set goblet. You get the feeling that if you look inside of it you may see something else.

...you may see somewhere else entirely.
...and something may see you.

You catch yourself holding your breath as you tiptoe towards the golden treasure, like you may accidentally wake it from an ancient slumber. You carefully pick it's hefty weight up in your hands and look inside...

...to see an empty, golden bottom. You sigh in relief, but the oddly humid air still feels like it is clinging to you.

And you nearly jump out of your skin as the door busts open!

The panting, slightly bloodied figure of Tai stands, beckoning to you.

"Come on! I thought you may be here, we don't have much time be-"

He can't finish whatever he was saying as several things happen at once.

A voice screams out from down the hallways and you suddenly notice the thick, black smog now crawling along on the ceiling outside. "FIRE, OH GOD FIRE! EVACUATE THE BUILDING NOW!"

Then, the shrill screech of steel echoes through the facility followed by a titanic crashing noise of wood, stone, and metal crumbling at once.

Just when you thought things couldn't escalate any further...just what the hell has been going on in this place?

>>
>>841096
Well... we'd need to redecorate to make it into a hotel anyway?
>>
So, not-so-quick glace of all the stuff we got. In rough order from the end of the thread to the beginning.

Party Gains:
One Cup to Rule... I mean totally innocuous golden cup that is in no way dangerous. Trust me.
Super scary Akatsuki scroll
A map to the hidden village of seals. (Reserved for Amon, keep away from Asa.)
Evidence against Gato's criminal interprise, specifically extra-national ones.
Several bruises because A's a fucking sperglord.
The targeted rage of A, one of the most dangerous ninja to ever live. (Upgraded from Ire.)
The undying hatred of Gato for Yoru Norihime, Super Spy Extraordinaire and Master Gambler
The Casino (soon to be the first Hotel Norihime)
Mysterious Uzumaki Earrings. (OoOoOoOo Spooky)
All of Gato's chips.
Most of A and B's chips.
Getting to BTFO Gato like the punk shit sucker he is.
Bunnizune.
The ire of A, and possibly B.
1.8 million Ryo from the tables. (possibly A and B's money)
Schematics to the Casino. (Somewhat redundant given later events.)
A scroll depicting fighting styles with the Wen Qu, reserved for Amon (and the opportunity for Asa to tease Amon so he can have it, which is a bit low because there's probably very little Amon wouldn't do for a scroll.)
A six way tie. (And the giggles it brought.)

My personal Gains:
A sore back from carrying 3/4ths of this session.
Reaffirmation that Red is my favorite QM and NMQ is my favorite quest.
What promises to be an incredibly cute and lewd touching and intimate scene of Asa and Amon. I'm trying to phrase it like Asa would phrase it. Am I doing good Red-senpai?
Ridiculous fucking luck. (Upgraded from Extreme Luck II: Electric Booglaloo)
Serious amount of mental strain from doing things I'm absolute garbage at. (Note to self: No more puzzles, stick to programming.)
Sadness that of the two fan drawings of Asa, my favorite has not been updated. (Why even live?)
Uncomfortable feelings because an anon decided to be creepy with rapey pics of Shizune. (Seriously dude you didn't say anything it was weird as hell and kept getting weirder. Like a clearly troubled person slowly widening their smile as they wordlessly stare at you.)
Aforementioned mirth at the six way tie.
Mortal fear because my power kept going out and smoke from wildfires was literally everywhere.
Asa in a skintight leather bodysuit. (Really glad I asked that.)

Irreplaceable Losses:
Pocket Dust-chan's little sister, Wall Dust-chan. May her skin flakes be unending and the loose change plentiful.

I think that sums up everything. I'll go through the thread again tomorrow morning to see if I missed anything.

I do mean it when I say I enjoy your quest the most. I always have a good time even if I forget stuff and am too lazy to go back and skim previsous threads and end up just having a better time than in any other quest (not that I don't have a good time in them, the time here is just better.) I like how there's always opportunities for humor or touching moments, even when things are pretty heavy, especially. It stick with Myatsuu's message at the beginning of the quest, which I assume is the intention.

Even if some of your decisions don't make sense to me because I'm a sociopath with no friends who enjoys spending his time alone on a computer more than seeing any other person and don't understand how much friendship can mean to people.

"Why does it seem everything ends up getting destroyed wherever we go...?"

[Intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSyDSy6WNyU]

You shout back to Shizune as you lay the last of the Gato Guards out with a sweeping haymaker. There's an upturned table partially blocking the hallway up front. You contine your strides forward, dropping your shoulder into a tight acute angle.

As you feel it just make contact, you push ever harder.
Every step is an explosion from the ground.
The table audibly cracks.
You burst up from your hips, snapping the furniture like a match.

You continue your sprint indifferently down the hallway.

Shizune stands back all the hallway entrence, still staring in disbelief at the wreckage tossed aside like a broken linkin' log.

"Yeah...yeah, I wonder why."

>You are now playing as Tai
>You rejected your past life of sin and conflict, taking a new name as a monk in your quest for self-purification
>Lifestyles can change so much, so quickly. People can become different in mere days, let alone years if you aren't watching.
>You take the vows of a monk for the people closest to you. Your life is a redemption by fire for your own self-perceived mistakes.
>...but it seems that old habits will always die hard.

You casually flick the door aside with your forearm. It flies open and crack against the wall- they really don't build these things strong these days. You feel something dribbling down your arm and face. Probably blood or something, you don't give that much notice to it these days.

What matters is you finally found that happy-go-lucky Yoru. You exasperatedly call the businessman as he jumps up startled, holding a bright coral-colored cup.

"Come on! I thought you may be here, we don't have much time be-"

...why do you smell smoke?

"FIRE, OH GOD FIRE! EVACUATE THE BUILDING NOW!"

Fires now too?? You look back to an alarmed Shizune slightly down the hall.
"There is debris, paper, and broken wood everywhere! This place will go down in flames if someone started a fire! We need to find the others!

This is getting more dangerous by the second. You need to get in contact with the others, but you also...

>Haven't found Rin yet! You need to get her out of here, Yoru looks okay enough on his own.
>Need to Evacute Yoru first. He's here and looks badly beaten, not the kind of person you should leave to fend on their own.
>Will let Yoru manage alone with what he's at. Shizune is here to and can get him out, but only you can navigate this place quick enough to get to the others in it.
>Write in(?)

I'd rather not find out how hard it is to fight in a bunnysuit.
