BEEPBEEPBEEPBEE-
You slam your palm down on your alarm, and sit up with a groan. Ugh, mornings. You glance at the clock: 7:30. Right, you decided to get into the habit of waking up early before the school year to get into the habit. Welp, no reason in standing around!
It takes a few minutes to search through your luggage for your running gear (and a few more to tidy up the mess your crew left last night before they went home, thanks for staying around to clear up guys), but soon enough you're pounding along the pavement in shirt and shorts at a comfortable pace. It's nice to be up for everyone else in the refreshing, cool morning air, to be able to think for once. Last night happened so fast. Huh, looks like the Cromwell is already at sea. Must've launched during the night.
As calming as your morning jog is, your thoughts quickly turn to the matter at hand: The tankery team. What are you going need to get it back up and running? Well, tanks, obviously. Crews to operate those tanks, maybe you can talk to the principal about that. And of course, money. The ITL probably confiscated the team's funds as well. Eh, you'll solve that when you get to it.

>New Quests Unlocked!

>Rolling out
>Acquire 10 competition-worthy tanks

>When the drafters come a-marching
>Acquire 10 crews (including yourself)

>Just need a few quid
>Raise 25000 Pounds

You're so deep in thought it comes as a shock when you look up from the pavement and realise you're jogging past the tankery HQ. You check your watch: 7:55. That long? You should get home and get dressed, you're going to need to head back in here a bit to check on the training tanks and see what condition they're in. You're about to turn around when you spot something weird: the lights are on in the second floor of the tankery HQ, where all the offices are... and the gate's open too.
Weird.

>Head inside and take a look. You are the captain now, after all.

I smell a plot hook.

>Investigate

It's probably nothing, but even so... you should probably have a look anyway. Somebody probably just left a light on, it's not like there's anything to burgle.
...You need to stop jinxing yourself like this. You shake your head, and step into lobby of the HQ. Empty, nothing weird. You take a quick glance down the corridor to the tank hanger and the briefing room - the HQ was only completed last year and everything still looks brand new! Anyway, head in the game. You creep up the stairs, and down the hallway towards where you can hear the rustling of paper and what sounds like stuff being put in a box in a hurry. No time to think, you need to act!
You shove open the door just as somebody was about to do the same from the other side, and hear somebody shriek in alarm as paper flies everywhere. You poke your head round the door and immediately recognise who's behind it. "...Oh, hey Captain."

It would appear that the 'burgler' is none other than your erstwhile captain, Alison Metcalfe. You stick around to help her gather up all the papers she was carrying as well as the box full of stuff from her desk.
"I'm really sorry, captain." You tell her for the sixth time as you finish up.
"Really, it's fine. And I'm not your captain anymore, Alfie." She smiles, but it doesn't reach her eyes. "The headmistress called me up and told me you were restarting the team, though. Good on you!" She straightens up with her stuff, a good two heads taller than you. Those legs, and with that ches- anyway. "In any case, I was just popping in to grab what's left of my personal stuff. I'm not strictly meant to be here, so don't tell anyone, okay? If you end up going into this year's nationals, I'll be rooting for you." She winks, and moves to head out the door.

>"Wait, are the rumours all true?"
>Stay silent, let her leave. She looks stressed enough as it is.

We need to know. If there's anything that's false, then squashing that rumour might help the team get re-built.

Also; why are so many garupans so lewd?
>>
>>823188
>Why did I even make it a choice

"Wait!"
Alison pauses in the hallway and looks back at you. "Hm?"
"Captain, the whole investigation thing, the er... rumours..." Don't blush now, Alfie, "Are they true?"
Alison pauses, looking at you intently for several seconds. Eventually, she takes a couple of steps back towards you and leans in. Uhhh- "Look, Alfie, you always seemed like a nice girl. Just... there are some people on this ship that... ugh, nevermind. Just keep an eye out, okay? Good luck." And then she's gone.

...Well THAT wasn't weird at all. You head back downstairs, but Alison is nowhere to be found. Maybe being captain sent her off the deep end, who knows. You check your watch: 8:15. Shit.
You jog back to your dorm, shower, brush teeth, get dressed, and you're discovering Rosie left you some bread for toast as the rest of your crew arrives, except for Suzy.
Melissa and Mandy head into your kitchen to steal food while Rosie sits with you in your tiny living room. "Susan texted me, she said she couldn't come today because of her community service." She says.
You shrug, "Fair enough." Her own fault you guess. While eating, you check your phone. Huh, three new emails. You make a note to check them later.
"Anyway, ready to head out whenever you are, commander." The other two members of your crew walk back in with toast. Hmph, things are back to normal if they're stealing your food just like last year.

Huh. The third looks the most mysterious, so you open that first.

>Repairs
Hey Captain!
Alison let me know that you're intending to keep the tankery team going. We at the Mechanics Club used to have a deal going helping you guys repair your tanks in return for extra credits. Let me know if you're interested in continuing.
-Belle

Huh, that's interesting. You'll have to contact her at some point. Now for the next.

>Congratulations!
Hello,
We at the ITL would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your indomitable spirit in your intent to continue tankery despite the unfortunate circumstances.
However, as will have to treat you as any new team intending to start. This means that you will be required to have at least five (5) tanks ready and a match history by the start of the European Nationals if you wish to compete. Our inspectors will be arriving this Saturday to install judging devices on any of your tanks that don't have any, and ensure they are fit for the competition.

Best of luck,
Stephen Walker

Okay, that's not so good. Still, you're sure you can contact another academyship for a friendly match by the time the Nationals start. The start of October, you're pretty sure. You open the final email.

>Status of the tankery team
Miss Nicholls,
I would like to assure you that you have my full support with whatever you choose to do with the tankery team. For this purpose, I have managed to make sure that you have full access to the tankery HQ, whatever training tanks are left, and some funds I have managed to scrape together to give you a hand.
Finally, I believe I may be able to persuade the ITL to release a single tank, though it may take some time. Please reply as soon as possible.

Miss Brown, Principal

Wow. Shit, you better reply now. But which tank should you ask for?

>Cromwell (2 weeks to arrive, +familiarity bonus from last year)
>Churchill (1 week to arrive)
>Comet (At least 3 weeks to arrive)

(Internet is spotty and captcha is hardly working. Kill me now.)
>>
>>823315
when do the European Nationals start?
>>
>>823320
Around the start of October.
>>
>>823324
So we've got about 6-8 weeks.

>Cromwell (2 weeks to arrive, +familiarity bonus from last year)

That bonus will come in very handy in the early matches. We need to be an anchor for the team. Not having to worry about our own tank (as far as internal issues) will let us concentrate on leading the team.

Churchill or Comet would be nice and all that, but let's go with what we know. It's at least one crew who won't need to spend extra time learning the tank, but can focus on helping the others and fighting the opposition.
>>
>>823315

You quickly tap out a reply asking for a Cromwell- your Cromwell, if possible. You can't wait to be in Achilles again!

Well, that's that done. You grab your coat and head out the door with your crew. Melissa and Rosie are discussing which training tanks the ITL have left, so you find yourself walking with Mandy.
"Sleep well, Mandy?"
A nod.
"Did you have fun last night?"
Another nod.
"Looking forward to school?"
A shrug. God's sake. You sigh, but at least you're near to the HQ.
"Oh, Alfie, I have a key here." Rosie says, giving you the keys to the HQ and hanger.
"...Why do you have a bunch of keys to the HQ?"
"Oh, Suzy gave them to me!"
You decide it's better not to ask, and unlock the doors to the tank hanger. You're used to it having at least two dozen tanks in it at any one time, so seeing it almost empty is... depressing.
Hey, at least there are some tanks though. You weren't quite sure there would be.

>Tanks unlocked!
>Matilda II
>Crusader III

"...Well, they're not the worst tanks." Melissa eventually says.

Well... we now have 5 tanks. Nevermind that it will be an absolute slaughter against what most teams would field. At least we have a few 6-pdrs, and not ONLY dinky 2-pdrs

"Come on." You lead the way over to the back of the hanger. Rosie hits the light, and now you can see them all properly it's uh... well they don't look great.
"Oh dear. I suppose now we know why they haven't taken them yet." She sighs.
You glance over to Melissa, the resident tank nerd. "What do you think, Lissa?"
She shrugs, clambering on top of the Valentine II. "The Matilda looks okay, and one of the Crusaders." She taps the turret of the Valentine with her knuckles. "I think all of them have been left for a while, so they might need repairs to bring them up to spec."
You nod, folding your arms. "Noted. I may have a way for us to get repairs, so-"

You're interrupted by an enraged shout from the entrance of the hanger. You turn to see a very angry senior girl striding towards you. Jeez she's tall. "How dare you!" She seethes, "Do you know how much trouble you've made for me? What favours I had to pull in? Do you know who I am!?"
"...No."
"Agh!" She huffs and strides back out. Why do all the weirdos keep approaching you?

"Well that was strange, commander." Rosie says.

"So if you want, I could start having a look at this Crusader.." Melissa suggests, and you shrug.
"Sure, we spent a year in one. You two help her, I'm going to see if I can give us a hand." The other two of your crew nod, and you turn to your phone. Belle Cooper helpfully left her number in her email, so you dial it up.
"Yellow?"
"Hello, is this Belle?"
"Why yes it is, who's speaking?"
"Uh, Alfie?"
"Oh, you're the new tankery commander ain'tcha? Well if you want to come talk, head on down to the docks!"
"Uh, okay." Oh, she's hung up. Well, if she's naval studies, then that means she's busy I guess.

You wave goodbye to your crew and get an uber down to the Cromwell's docks, which even during lunch hours is filled with activity. It takes a bit of looking but you eventually find Belle Cooper yelling at a bunch of naval studies students hauling cargo out of a container.
"Belle?" She turns to you. "I'm Alfie, you said you can help me with my tanks?"
"Yes!" She smiles, and claps you on the shoulder. "Come to my office and we'll talk shop."

Now I'm very sorry, but I need to stop it here. Hopefully we can finish this thread on wednesday, check my twitter for details of when that will be: https://twitter.com/Pixel_Anon

Looks nice, but the Crusader III removed the hull MG turret. Because it was useless and suffocated people and the added weight would've risked overloading the suspension when the 6 pounder was added.

You are sitting with Belle - that is, Engineering Officer Belle Cooper, a Naval Studies student - in her office, a eight-foot by ten-foot box on the edge of the Cromwell's docks, looking out over the marshalling yards where import containers are brought in, opened, emptied, then sorted and shipped out to where they need to go.
"I mostly take care of the engineering logistics. Steel plates, tools, stuff like that." She explains.
You nod, "Right. So about your email?"
She grins, "Of course! See commander, your old team, that had what, two hundred girls?"
That sounds about right, so you nod. "Two, two fifty. So?"
Belle leans forward, "So back then you had loads of girls to keep your tanks running, but now you're not going to. Plus, Alison had connections for spare parts, ammo, upgrades, all the stuff you're going to need. Do you know where to get that stuff?"
You don't want to admit it, but... "No."
"So let me help you! I'll get my girls and boys to maintain, repair, upgrade your stuff AND I'll help with the spare parts and ammo you need. Plus, I'll give you upgrade options for your tanks, and I won't even take a commission as long as you pay for the parts. All I want you to do is arrange for my club to get extra credits for doing it from the Head, and maaaaybe a favour or two every now and again. What do you say?"

>Quest Updated!
>A Helping Hand
>Ensure the Mechanics Club get extra credits for helping the Tankery Team.

You shrug, "I guess I don't have much of a choice."
Belle laughs and stands up, clapping you on the back. "Attagirl. Now, I'm sorry to kick you out but I really need to be getting back to work, lunch is over."

You're left on the edge of the docks watching Belle yell at her engineering shift. Or maybe they're logistics? Eh, who knows.

Well, you're not the type to let things simmer. One uber later and you're walking into the command tower. It's noticeably less busy than it was yesterday, and it's much easier for you to avoid staff while making your way to the principal's office.
Suzy's still working at her desk. You really hope she doesn't do anything to keep her there any longer.
"Oh, hey Alfie. Or should I say, Captain?" She smirks. "How're the tanks coming along?"

Probably didn't help that you didn't post in the /qtg/ and your twitter update was at very short notice. A lot of players just missed it most likely. Also try fishing for players in the Akun Girls Und Panzer: Road to Sensha-do chat. Schteel and I both hang out there as well as a number of other GuP interested posters. Might help bouy up the playerbase.
