Welcome back, my friends!

If you'd like to catch up here are some helpful links:

Lady Gneotho's Stats: http://pastebin.com/whRSLSHc
Your Allies' Stats (In Order of Appearance): http://pastebin.com/QUs6LWEc

You are Lady Gneotho: an aspirant for the title of Overlord of the Netherworld known as Potential X. The title itself is the trophy of the Potential X Potential Overlord Tournament that you have entered. As part of the rules, you and every other contender for the throne have been transformed into generic demon classes. As you have discovered with the help of your subordinate, Anasael, that rule was a ruse put in place by Brynn: the demon Seneschal and attendant to several, previously overthrown, Overlords. You have gathered allies through promises of money and violence in order to bring down Brynn's conspiracy to take the title and throne from the victor of the tournament in a surprise attack directly after the championship battle. You are now in the quarterfinals of the tournament and the roster is most likely to consist entirely of your counter-conspiracy, so you gathered them all for a final meeting to set your trap.

>The beginning of this session will be relaying between your main character, Gneotho the Armor Knight, and her allies, Kain the Valkyrie, Anasael the Cleric, and Mystery Person 14 the Dark Knight. So to start the fun, let's decide which character will start.

>Kain (Fighting to enter the quarterfinals and to buy time for the trap to be staged)
>Anasael (Infiltrating the lower levels with MP14 to free the losers from their cells.)
>Mystery Person 14 (Providing armored support for Anasael while infiltrating the Palace Dungeons. Also to relay the the tactical side of the jail break.)
>Genotho (Preparing the Personal Netherworld, Tartarus, for an effective ambush when Brynn is sucked in.)
>>
>>820139
>Kain
First for Gneotho gets all the ho's
>>
>>820139
>>Kain (Fighting to enter the quarterfinals and to buy time for the trap to be staged)

It will be tough but I bet that depending how well we buy time with Kain, the other team will have more time when its our turn to control them.

Second for Kain a cute little girl and waifu material
>>
>Kain (Fighting to enter the quarterfinals and to buy time for the trap to be staged)

We should really figure out how to use the reincarnation machine and how it works. The potential benefits are massive.

For the moment, you are not Gneotho. You are Kain. You used to be, in your own words, the strongest, most lethal demon in all the Netherworlds. The only reason you hadn't taken the title of Overlord before was because it sounded like more trouble than it was worth. However, your massive sculpted body has been stolen from you and you have been left with the form of a small, petite Valkyrie. Your feelings on the matter are... nebulous. You are angry about your stolen power and body, but... more and more your current situation is feeling natural.

Gneotho has promised you glorious combat and your body back if you help her with her cause. After that, you will fight her for the title of Overlord. Regardless of the outcome, you win. But now you must fight! Brynn up to the stage and announces the fight.

"DEMONS AND MONSTERS! WE BEGIN THE NEXT FIGHT FOR A PLACE IN THE QUARTERFINALS! ANOTHER MATCH OF DUELING CLASSES! THE VALKYRIES KAIN AND GRAIVE SHALL BATTLE FOR HONOR AND FAME! THEIR ARENA WILL BE... EDGELORD SEPULCHRE!"

You look around to catch a glimpse of your opponent. She looks just like you and, for the first time, you get to see what everyone else sees when they look at you. You are much more frail-looking than you thought. Your arms are twig-like compared to what they used to be, but they hide incredible strength. You understand why you are so much faster now with your trim and narrow body. Graive apparently has the same idea as you and is gauging you with her eyes.

>You know that name... Graive is an old enemy.
>You know that name... Graive is an old student of your master when you were training.
>You know that name... Graive is an old friend.
>Nope. You have no clue who this demon is. And you don't really care.

Graive... You know her. Before this tournament, she was one of the few you considered to almost be your equal. And, not that you'd ever admit it to her face, you might even be tempted to call her a friend. Its strange to see her as a reflection of your current form, but while this is a complete departure from how you used to fight, almost nothing would be changed for her in terms of ability. She was always the more agile fighter, but her strength was something to be admired. Honestly, this is getting you excited. The familiar white like of the teleportation magic flares up around you again as you are transported to the arena on Edgelord Sepulchre.

While transitioning to the battlefield, you have just a moment to formulate your strategy in the void between Netherworlds.

>Use your speed and Ability to draw first blood!
>Sprint off to the side and draw her to favorable landscape before beginning the brawl!

As the ground meets your feet, you shift into a more defensive stance. Gneotho said she needed time for this plan to work and, damnit, you're going to give her and your team all the goddamned time they need. On top of that, you would not put it past your old friend to have brought something... interesting to tip the scales in her favor.

You leer at the distance as the serene haze of the Sepulchre shifts uneasily. tap tap tap tap tap tap tap You hear her footsteps as she approaches.

"GRAAAIVE!!" You shout as loudly as your tiny lungs can. "FIGHT ME AND LET'S GIVE THE AUDIENCE SOME VALKYRIE ON VALKYRIE ACTION!" The sound of footprints stops and for a moment, all is quiet. She rounds the corner and you see Graive.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY GOD DID YOU ACTUALLY SAY THAT OUT LOUD!? AHAHAHAHAHA!" She's... she's laughing at you. "Hahaha... haha... Oh god... for a second, I was having my doubts that it was actually you, Kain. No one else but you could accidentally innuendo like that. I haven't seen you in decades; how have you been, Kain? Or should I start calling you something more feminine?" She teases you. Its starting to feel a lot more like the old days.

"Har har har." You retort flatly. "Kain is fine. I don't plan on being stuck like this much longer. Once I knock you out of the running, the road to the title of Overlord is basically mine."

"Well, like you said, Kainie, that's after you knock me out. Or really, if you knock me out. I'm no push over and you know it." She gets into a ready stance, a big grin on her face. You mirror her, though you wear a scowl instead.

You motion with your free hand that you are giving her the first move. Her confident grin turns into a more sinister sneer as she blitzes forward. You are prepared for it and shout at her as you go to dodge her blow. "I've seen Prinnies' grandmas swings swords better than that! Get serious if you really want to cross swords with me!" She look down over your nose as you spin out of her attack easily! She's giggling at you again!

"Oh man... That wasn't even a good one, but you've already put my mind in the gutter! I'm adding it to the tally! Pahahahaha!" She howls as she turns to assault you again. Your footwork is sure and you have more than enough time to parry the blow.

"Haha! Well, I won't say I'm opposed to it! Every girl aspires to look young, after all! Though I do miss a few certain assets. Making the other go crazy over me was fun. But, in the end, I'll take function over fashion!" That's your Graive for you. She's a tease and she loves to make jokes, but in the end, she's always been practical. "What about you, though? You spin gracefully as you deflect her attack with immeasurable ease. Things seem to slow down as you see your opening! A manic grin stretches across your face and you swing your sword across her exposed back! You feel the hit connects and you see blood streak across her back, echoing the curve of your blade. She shrieks in pain, but uses her momentum to carry her safely away from your position.

"I don't really know how I feel, but I do know one thing. I'm even better at it than you." You tilt your head in a cocky manner and sneer. She grimaces at the wound you placed on her, but it quickly dissolves into the same confident grin you've seen her wear since you were kids.

You can't see her face, but the sound of her voice still reaches you in the tombs. "Uh... Maybe your getting used to that body too well." She sounds a little uneased by your tease, but you soon hear her pursuing you. The paths of the tombs criss-cross for miles. For a second you almost forgot that the entire Netherworld of Edgelord Sepulchre is this way. No sky, only ceiling and coffins and tombs as far as you can possibly imagine.

You make tracks as you sprint down the corridor and never looking back! With your insane speed and agility you leave Graive far behind. "So!" you call out behind you. After all, you aren't really trying to hide; just waste time for your allies back in the Palace. You've never really run away from a fight before and you don't plan on starting now. "What have you been up to for the past... oh, seven decades? What made you want to be Overlord?"

It takes a moment, but she responds. Her voice is faint, but clear. "Oh well, this and that. Spent some time in Bullet Hell to train my dodging ability. Fat lot of good that did, hah!" She laughs at her own failure. Its always been endearing to you. "But I didn't really join the tourney to win it. I joined because I knew you would. Or, if that wasn't the case, you'd show up when I won it. We have some important business to discuss when this is all said and done." Something about her tone worries you, but the distance is still too great to discern much from it.

Graive is approaching quickly, but that still leaves you time to come up with another ambush strategy.

I TRY TO OPEN MY HEART TO YOU AND YOU RUN AWAY LIKE A SCARED LITTLE BITCH?! MAYBE THAT REINCARNATION REALLY DID BRING OUT YOUR TRUE SELF!" Ouch. No more playful banter, it seems. "WELL GUESS WHAT? You furrow your brow and make an instant 180 degree shift in direction. With all your might you move the clash with Graive. Her eye have real tears in them. You don't think you've ever seen that before. What you have seen before is the real anger that hides behind the tears. You try to think of what to say that could calm her down while the loud clash of steel is ringing and echoing through the catacombs.

"I'm sorry, okay? But I need to win this tournament. There are people counting on me."

"And I'm trying to be one of those fucking people, Kain. I wasn't just being coy when I said I spent some time in Bullet Hell. That was forty years mastering my dodging skill! I hadn't been hit once by an opponent since mastering that, but here you are, bringing the pain like I'm some Prinny fresh out of Purgatory!" Her voice still has that growl to it. You clash again with a loud clang. "I don't know what you're planning and I don't care, but I figured that if you win, that would spoil whatever plan Brynn had that he needed to kidnap my child for."

You grimace and debate telling Graive about Gneotho's plan. She's genuine, you're sure of that, but even with the sword sounds, a good lip reader could probably tell what you're talking about. You don't want to endanger the plan... or Graive's kid. You owe her that much. "Okay. Right now I need to make this fight last as long as possible while still being entertaining. Can you help me put on a good show? I promise I will help you if I can." You look her dead in the eye with a serious expression. The anger begins to fade and you can almost see the tension melt off her shoulders. As the ringing begins to fade, She pushes off of you and loudly laughs again!

"AHAHAHAHA! THAT'S NUMBER THREE KAINIE! I SWEAR YOU JUST DON'T HAVE AN OFF SWITCH WITH THOSE INNUENDOS, DO YOU! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" She turns and runs back the way she came, an obvious gesture to follow and continue the game there. You take a deep totally-not-a-sigh breath and chase after.

The camera turn wipes to the next agent of Gneotho's counter-conspiracy

The camera pans to a moderately sized, blonde, busty cleric pressed against a wall. You look over to the armored man leaning against a pillar adjacent to you. He nods before stepping, surprisingly soundlessly into the shadows and disappearing. You ease off the wall and creep around the corner guards wearing the colors of the Palace (white with gold trim) are talking to each other and watching Kain fight the other Valkyrie.

"So do you really believe all those innuendos are accidental? I mean that first one should have sounded bad in her head right away."

"Its possible. I mean, you don't always think before you open that pie hole of your."

"Dude, come on."

"Oh I'm just messing with you, bro."

You roll your eyes as you sneak right past them and through a nondescript door to the right of the stairs. The layout isn't convoluted but, there are a few corridors. Patrolling guards might be around any of them, so you need to be on your toes.

Easy as pie. You smirk as you gracefully glide across the marble floor without a side. The door is well oiled which works incredibly in your favor. You cautiously and slowly step down the stairs and reach the next floor down. A patrol is wandering right past you, leaving the coast clear enough for you to sneak the other way or, if you are feeling bold, sneak behind them and check things out as they pass.

Your apprehension forces you to err on the side of caution, but you still follow behind the guards, though at a little distance away. They're conversation is just a bit different than the ones from upstairs.

"But yeah, I think Brynn weighted the wheel just so there would be more female contestants to watch fight. But I think he has something against women. Seriously I've never seen him look so... interested in a fight. I'm a pretty tough guy, I think, but I was getting a bit queasy watching that chick shove the spear through the other girl's throat. Dude's got problems, that's all I'm saying."

"I'm just excited that that Cleric girl has gotten as far as she has. Sure, the last fight was kind of lack luster, but healer v healer will always be that way. Maybe I just have a soft-spot in my heart for blondes, but I hope she makes it to the quarterfinals."

"Ah... that's just wishful thinking. I hear that she'll be up against that monk girl, Naheil next. That chick hasn't even been hit once during the fights. Its insane!"

You stop listening to them blabber on and check out a few of the cells they passed.

The first door you wander to is already open. Its probably reserved for some lucky loser in the next few rounds. Maybe whoever Brynn decides he likes the most besides Maconon will be kept here until they agree to serve him. Who knows what kind of torture that would be... you shudder at the thought. The second one is closed and locked. Looking inside you see a single Prinny playing a harmonica. Its doing a terrible job at it and you surmise has been silenced by a caster for his horrible playing. He doesn't seem to mind. The next two cells hole much more promise. In one is a demon is a more ragged version of the guard armor the helmet on his head has a massive dent on the left side. He is chained to the wall itself and seems to have stopped struggling. In the other cell is...!

Its Dan, the other Armor Knight. Her neck would has been patched up and has been given minimal healing to prevent her from dying outright. Looks like the end hadn't come at the hands of Gneotho just yet. You are certain she is alive by the way her chest is moving. Its strange to watch her like this as you can't help but imagining your mistress lying there instead. It makes you feel...

>Glad. Imagining her death is just visualizing a future where you are free and back to your lovely true form!
>Worried. You genuinely care about Gneotho. Outside of her display of power she has shown vested interest in your survival, spend money on you and has been constantly praising you for good work.
>Nothing. Its a little surreal, sure, but it means nothing to you in the end.

>Worried. You genuinely care about Gneotho. Outside of her display of power she has shown vested interest in your survival, spend money on you and has been constantly praising you for good work.

Because aside from the first moment, Gneotho has been... pretty great to us, actually. And that first thing is understandable, given how a lot of people are in the Underworld.

Seeing Gneotho in place of Dan, even for a brief moment makes your heart beat just a bit faster. You genuinely care for Gneotho. Your subjugation aside, she has been incredibly kind to you, completely undemonic of her, but you appreciate it. You wait a moment for the guards to continue down the hall before opening the cell door and stepping inside. Dan's breathing is ragged, uneven and shallow. Judging from the dark circles and haggard look on her face, they hadn't just healed her since abducting her. Most likely Brynn or someone under him had gotten their hands on her for a small while, probably to squeeze any information about Gneotho's fighting style that they could use to find a weakness.

You face contorts to share your repulsion at the thought of what horrible things they did to her. You place a hand on Dan and, quietly, chant the heal spell to help the poor soul. Her breathing soothes a bit and her vacant eyes fill with a little bit of life once again. "I... know... you?" She is barely audible.

You nod, not willing to make sound with the guards so close to you. She is as healed as you can get her right now, but she has to recover her spirit on her own. You quietly tell Dan to stay still and quiet while you go to the cell next door to check on the prisoner there. She nods and closes her eyes for a moment.

In the other cell, the imprisoned guard makes no movements. The dent in the helmet is pretty severe and it is nearly impossible to get the helmet off. The only thing you can tell about him is that he's alive. You cast a healing spell on him and his head lifts to look at you... you think. Its hard to tell with the fully encasing helmets like the guards wear. "You're not with the Palace healers. Who are you? What are you doing here?"

>Doesn't matter. What are you doing here?
>Part of your everyday run-of-the-mill coup. You look like you'd be disgruntled enough to leak information about the dungeon's layout.
>I'm part of a conspiracy to overthrow Brynn. Want to help?

"Haha... oh you know..." You smile weakly and dismissively wave your hand in front of your face, "Just your ordinary, everyday, run-of-the-mill coup trying to usurp the throne! The usual! Say, you look like you'd be disgruntled enough to leak vital information to a rival power. What do you say we work together?" Well, you aren't lying. There's nothing too exceptional about the counter-conspriacy... save for its members and its execution... okay so its anything but ordinary, but that's not the point. The guard stares at your for a while, you think. Before hanging his head and sighing.

"There's really no waking up out of this, is there. I'm really imprisoned in the dungeons, aren't I?" He makes a pathetic groaning noise as he pulls his legs to him. "I don't remember why I'm down here, but I do remember I don't like Seneschal Brynn. Why is that..." He's talking to himself more than he's talking to you it seems. You debate on going back to checking on Dan when the Imprisoned Guard has his epiphany. "Oh! That's right! I saw Brynn planning to overthrow Overlord Ghraanus! I heard his whole plan! How he was going to use some convoluted plan to have this tournament to weed out any competition to the title and then take the throne when they're all weakened! I was going to report him to Ghraanus when something hit me on the head."

You stare hard at the Imprisoned Guard. What are you going to do with this guy?

>Get MP14 to free him while you catch Dan up to speed.
>Try to coerce more info out of IG (feed me your questions!)

Okay so, I have to get up early in the morning... yet again... so I'm calling a small break so I can sleep. Go ahead and make your desicions/ask questions and I promise as soon as I am back in about 12 hours or so, I'll continue where we left off!

>>Get MP14 to free him while you catch Dan up to speed.

We already know Brynn is planning some shit, so leave freeing him and asking to MP14, I think it would be a better use of our time to get as many potential allies as possible before time's out, and probably most if not all of them are quite pissed off with Brynn for this treatment of barely keeping them alive
>>
>>823155

But nothing says we cannot waste a few minutes to learn more.

"Tell me all you heard about the plan and I will heal you more."

The bulldhit thing about demons is, even two menbers of the same species, age race and gender might have different healing rates. So as long as we don't heal him all the way it will be okay. We could fix his head since is covered by the helmet anyway.

You look out the door of the cell. As if born from the shadows itself, Mystery Person 14 silently strides out.

"MP, can you get more info out of him? He sounds like he'll be useful to the cause. I need to go back to check on Dan and make sure she's recovering all right." You give the order and the Dark Knight nods his head solemnly. You walk across the hall again and back to Dan's cell. Her breathing is still rather strained, but its quickly improved from when you first healed her. Her back is to you and she seems to have curled up into a ball; her arms wrapped around her legs.

>Make a sound to alert her that you are back and check for any injuries you might have missed.

You enter the room and sit down across from where Dan is curled up into the fetal position. After a moment of silence, you sigh. Well, maybe she's the kind of person who appreciate the direct approach. With who knows what happened, trying to beat around the bush might just upset the Armor Knight further.

"I have a proposal for you. If you work with us and help us in our plan to overthrow Brynn, I'll fully heal you and help you escape." Your voice is soft, but the words are still resolute. The silence returns for a moment.

"Is Gneotho... okay?" She asks weakly.

"Yeah. She's fine. Right now she's recuperating from your fight in a safe place and preparing for the coup."

"I'm glad." Her back shudders for a moment before she lets go of her knees and turns to face you. Her eyes have heavy dark circles under them (almost as dark as the circles under your eyes) but they have regained a little more light in them. "What do you need of me?"

"There's a guard in the cell across the hallway we think will help us out. We need you to keep an eye on him and keep him safe while we begin the next phase of the plan. Once we get everything set up we'll come get the both of you and begin the coup. Gather your strength, Dan; Gneotho needs your help."

And like that, a wild fire ignites behind the Armor Knight's eyes. "Gneotho... needs me?" You almost have a bad feeling about this. "I'll- I'll do it! You can count on me! Gneotho can count on me! I'll be useful! I can help everyone, you'll see!" She tries to spring to her feet, but gets dizzy and falls back on her rear end. "Heheheh... Not very graceful, was it? But I'm alright! I can do it!" She gets back on her feet, slower this time. And crosses the hall.

As she enters, you see Mystery Person 14 leaning against the door frame.

You say a quick chant and aim your magic at Dan, healing her as much as you can. You turn to Mystery Person 14 and nod before starting down the hall. As expected, he follows you and starts into his report.

"The guard's name is Perciel and he's not just any guard. He's Ghraanus's grandson and was the captain of the guard before the last coup happened." You nearly trip over your own two feet as the words register with your brain.

"H-how can you say that so casually?! That's kind of a huge revelation!" You whipser-shout at him, but he ignores it and continues.

"Perciel witnessed the initial planning of the conspiracy as we know it, so he doesn't know any more about the reasons than we do. What he did know was the layout of the Palace. Even some interesting features that I doubt even Brynn knows. I can point us in the direction of the dungeon cells that are most likely to contain the rest of the tournament losers."

Seems in your joy at the information, you had forgotten to use your inside voice and have attracted the attention of a patrol! Luckily they haven't noticed you specifically yet. You and Mystery Person have a chance to hide before they can spot you and sound the alarm! What are your moves?

In your mind you imagine Gneotho's disapproving scowl as the guards arrest all four of you and throw you in the dungeons. It rattles your nerves greatly and you grab Mystery Person 14 and hurl the two of you in a nearby cell. You didn't count on the cell itself actually being a broom closet. In retrospect, you think that maybe the interior designer made all the doors look so similar to make the hallway seem longer than it was, so it wasn't your fault this happened!

Your chest is pressed firmly up against MP and your delicate hands are resting lightly on the tops of his shoulders. He, on the other hand, is desperately trying to not touch you while the two of you are restricted by the walls. You've never actually seen him show emotion on his face before, but his eyebrows are starting to furrow. What does that mean? You feel his heartbeat racing and his hot breath on top of your head. It is a long moment before the two of you are certain the guards are gone. Probably equating your voice to noisy prisoners complaining or something equally ignore-able.

The two of you let out a sigh of relief and attempt to unwedge yourself from the closet.

It takes some work, but you manage to pop out of the tiny, tiny room. It feels great to breathe unrestricted again! Mystery Person stands back up and dusts off his armor.

"The coast is clear, Anasael. Let's keep progressing with the plan. Follow me." He takes the lead and guides you down the next hallway.

"So..." You ease into your subject, "Other than money, why are you doing this? What made you decide to join us?" Your curiosity is getting the better of you again. Mystery Person looks back at you for a second, returns his eyes forward and sighs.

"I had companions who had joined this tournament with me. We had made a pact that no matter who won, we would accept loss graciously and follow the victor without question. They all lost in the first round except me. I expected them to show up and cheer me on, but no one showed up. I got worried. I had my suspicions that something else was afoot, but Gneotho's proposition was the nail in the coffin. This stopped being about the title when Brynn messed with my friends. All I want now is to see him crushed." Wide eyed, you nod in understanding. Underneath that bristly exterior, Mystery Person 14 is kind of a softie. Its kinda cute. "Also, I like money, so its win-win for me." You can't help but chuckle at the quip. There is another spell of silence before the Dark Knight asks something of you.

"So why did you come here?"

"Because Lady Gneo-"

"No I mean, why did you come to Potential X, Anasael. Or should I say Great Sage Anasael of the Void?" He turns and eyes you again. You are taken aback by the title he addresses you by.

>That name means nothing to me. Anasael of the Void is dead.
>I- I think you have me confused. Anasael of the Void? Hahaha Who's that?
>I haven't gone by that name in a long time. And I don't plan on taking it back again.

Oh crap someone actually knows about you! Quick, brain, make an excuse! "I-I think you have me confused. Anasael of the Void? Aahaha... Who's that?" Your voice is nervous and shaky, but you hope he buys it. He stares at you for a moment before return his vision to the path ahead.

"My mistake then. Sorry." His low, gravelly voice doesn't echo. A sigh of relief silently escapes from you. It wouldn't do if people discovered that you really are a Sage... or was a Sage.

You were a master of arcane magic, taught to you by the Demon Tree. In the pursuit of knowledge you left the Tree and the other sages. Your peers called you the Rogue Sage, but to those who you interacted with, you were the Great Sage Anasael of the Void. You had spent over 13000 years studying all magic and even learned how to create small Personal Netherworlds with your great power. You created Tartarus and was on the road to creating a true Netherworld when the demonic thirst for power and prestige struck you. When Ghraanus fell, the title was too tempting to resist. In your arrogance you played along with Brynn's games, but didn't expect the wheel to rob you of most of your accomplishments. In the panic of your situation, you hastily planned a coup to dispose of Brynn and restore your power. Then you approached Gneotho and the rest is history.

Your reflection is cut short, though. Mystery Person 14 places an arm out to stop you and you notice:

>You are at the cells, safely

You nod back to Mystery Person 14 and ready your staff.
------

Now you are Mystery Person 14: Mercenary. Currently you are charging forward with your sword drawn. Your target is the Zombie in the coveralls. The box he's working on is probably magic and is doing something to the demons in the cell. Zombies aren't good conversationalists, so you dispatch the worker. Its so weak it doesn't even warrant a roll. Behind you Anasael cautiously approaches.

"Oh well, that was easy." She kicks the lower half of the zombie before it disappears into wisps of light. "Now what do we have here?" She kneels down and examines the box, quickly becoming engrossed in its inner workings. You turn your gaze to the viewing window on the door. The cell itself is massive; holding what must be a large portion of the missing tournament contestants. Most of them look weakened by whatever this device was doing.

"So what is that thing, Anasael?" You ask.

"Its amazing! Whoever designed this must have quite the grasp on magical engineering! Its actually an artificial magic dispenser mimicking the Enfeeble spell on a level impossible for real casters!"

>"How do we shut it off?"
>"Can we reverse it?"

However in Disgaea, Sage is an advanced class that combines the archer with the mage class. It specialized in massive area attack spells.

http://disgaea.wikia.com/wiki/Sage
>>
>>824765

That would be in the context of real life. In a few fantasy setting and videogames, sage is just somebody who's pretty good at magic and might or might not actually be a wise leader-like figure.

And within Disgaea, a random prinny could easily reincarnate into a sage just because.

"Can we reverse it?" You ask the cleric. She lets out a haughty laugh and looks at you with a confident and superior grin.

"Can I reverse it!? Child's play for a powerful sorceress like myself!" She stops and stammers for a second "I-I'm no Sage, but I have more than sufficient knowledge to change it from Enfeeble to any buff I currently know. Anything in that room will get a temporary boost for as long as they stay in that room and maybe for a short time after they leave."

>Change the machine to Braveheart to boost their attack.

Anasael rolls up her sleeves and stick one arm into the machinery. "So they went with a counter-clockwise Mobius configuration? How wasteful. If it was me, I'd..." You lose interest in her magical techno-babble and look back at the door itself. Its locked quite well compared to the other cell doors further up. They were probably confident that the prisoners further up wouldn't have the strength to run or were firmly bound in some other way.

"Braveheart. They might be a distraction for the real attack, but if they're successful, that's less cleanup for us later." You utter as you back away from the door exactly 14 paces.

"That's a really efficient idea." She remarks before putting her head inside the device. "Okay its primed. I just have to cast the spell to give it a template to work off of." There is a small blue flash as Anasael casts her spell. A moment after, her upper half emerges from the mechanical box. There are smears of black grease on her face and hands now. "All set! Now we just have to let it do... its..." She trails off as she watches you take a starting position. "What are you doing?" She asks.

"Opening the door." You respond casually as you begin your charging sprint. Your speed is surprising given the weight of your armor, and before she can protest, you slam into the door. The sound is loud and you feel the iron and wood creak, crack and splinter under the force of your assault! Anasael stares at you, partially horrified and concerned for the device she just reprogrammed per your instructions and partially awestruck at the strength you just demonstrated.

Luckily for you the machine itself is fine. The door, though won't be able to close ever again. Slowly it creaks open and the two of you can enter inside.

"You could have broken the box, you dummy! Ow!" Anasael slaps your shoulder, hurting her hand. She's scowling at you.

You walk into the cell and Anasael, admitting defeat, follows you in. Aside from Dan, who you saw above, and a couple others, the entirety of the tournament losers has been gathered here. Notably, you see Doc Floofers, Cinderrun, Hexagramaton, Tank, Hidden Maul and Crack Addict. The last of whom seems incredibly hostile to see Anasael.

"Hey! Your that cleric from the fight! So you were working with Brynn this whole time?! I should have known when he made the fight 2v2! What did he promise you? Money? Power? Your commanding glare and sinister aura makes the churlish Warrior slink back. "I thought so." You quip as you attend to helping some of the losers who are still recovering from the exposure to the Enfeeble Machine. Anasael, however has decided not to let him off so easy.

"You know what? I don't like your name. Its ridiculous! From now on, your name is Lucy!"

"Wh-hey! No way am I going to-" Lucy's protests are cut short by another cutting look from you. Emboldened, Ana continues her tirade.

"And boy do you have some explaining to do! Where did you get that special weapon? We snuck in weapons from from Rosen Queen, sure, but they never sold items like your anti-armor sword. "Is this true?" You lean in closer to his face and narrow your eyes. He whimpers and tries to back away, but bumps into the back wall of the cell.

"I... I... Okay yes! He gave it to me. He said that he'd back me if I took out Gneotho. He said didn't want someone with such undemonic compassion ruling the Netherworld he's served for so long. I just wanted an edge! I swear I didn't know he was doing something like this! Ple-hee-heese! Believe me!" He gets on his knees and begs profusely. You think he's about to start crying. Pathetic.

"Fine. I'll let you off the hook on one condition." Anasael responds.

"What? What is it? I'll do it!" He's whines.

"You now serve my Lady Gneotho and myself as my subordinate! Do as you are told and you shall be rewarded! Betray us and be punished with a fate worse than death!" She looms over him with a terrifying look in her eyes. You don't know what this fate is and you don't want to know.

You decide to tell them what they need to know and nothing else.

"Listen up, everyone." Your voice booms loud enough to startle everyone there, including Anasael who didn't know your voice worked at the volume. "We are here to rescue you and organize our counter assault on Brynn, who manipulated us all and stacked the game against us so he could steal the title of Overlord from the winner of the tournament at their weakest." There are some murmurs from the crowd. "Anasael reprogrammed the device on the door that was keeping you Enfeebled so that it will, instead bestow you with Braveheart and aid you in your escape and counter attack. During our infiltration down here, we discovered an eyewitness who has identified Brynn and his allies as the puppet masters responsible for orchestrating the death of Overlord Ghraanus and the previous Overlords who had the misfortune to have Brynn as their advisor." You pause to gauge the crowd again. You see many stern faces. None of them will admit it, but most of them found Ghraanus's rule quite agreeable and, while they jumped at the chance to seize the title of Overlord after he died, not many of them would have tried to overthrow him while he lived.

"Your counter attack will happen once the Anasael and I knock the last two conestants out of the running. When this happens, you must watch for the other Dark Knight, Maconon. He is not to be trusted as he is working in conjunction with Brynn. Once they are all accounted for, you will be free to rush the main hall and cause as much panic and mayhem as you can. Just be sure to target the Palace staff and not the innocent spectators. We are here to liberate them from Brynn, not bring them greater pain. Anyone who does otherwise will be punished." The crowd hushes a bit. A few of the rougher looking demons break eye contact. You can tell that was what they were planning, but your threat seems to have quashed those thoughts.

"Don't worry if you are not confident in taking on Brynn or his main conspirators. Gneotho, Anasael, Kain and I will be dealing with them personally. So for now, prepare for a fight and be ready to move on a moment's notice!" Your final command is meant with a smattering of quiet cheers. "Oh and Lucy." The whole crowd is startled, but no more than the Warrior himself. "As soon as you can, you are to change into a uniform befitting your new status as subordinate. I think a Maid's outfit will suffice." Your serious face confuses everyone as you turn and leave the cell with Anasael in tow.

"Did you really say that?! I could kiss you, MP! That was insane! Hehehe!" She giggles but once the words she said register to her, her face turns red. "I-I meant that metaphorically! I mean not that your unattractive... I mean you're a handsome demon... I just... ugh... do you have a shovel I can use to dig this grave any faster?" She covers her face, embarrassed. Which means she cannot see you silently smile and laugh to yourself.

We must customize her last chance of training so she's ready to beat the shit out of Brynn And win back the hearts of Kain and Anasael, who lately have been corrupted by people driving them away from our harem

Since Gneotho hasn't done in this session yet, you do not have points to spend on ranking up. This will mostly be designing your ambush in Tartarus.

Once again, you are Gneotho: Overlord Aspirant and currently an Armor Knight. You have just woken up after a strange dream while resting in Anasael's Personal Netherworld of Tartarus. In the dream, you were a young girl, clad in armor, running from something, you think. The more you try to focus on it, the harder it is to remember it. Huh... You feel a little different than yesterday while you were training. It must be that the work you put in has strengthened you even more than you thought! Well regardless, now that you are rested, it is time to set the ambush for Brynn and his co-conspirators!

>Survey the arrival point in Tartarus and look at turning it into an arena.

You walk from the bedroom constructed in the back of the library to the central fountain where the Captain normally keeps watch over his staff. Like always, the sea captain hat-wearing Prinny is there. His flippers calmly folded behind his back. He snaps to attention when he sees you approach. Saluting, he speaks up.

"Good morning, dood! Have fully recovered from that rigorous training regiment you had me run you through?" His old, gruff voice is kind of soothing. Like a concerned grandfather.

"I'm doing fine, Captain. You know, for a non-combatant, you hit really hard." You stretch out your arms and smile brightly. "I'm actually curious about something. Do we have any stockpiled explosives?"

"E-Explosives?!" The Prinny is taken aback at the request, but recovers quickly. "I-I think there are some in the armory, but w-what are you planning with those, dood? Don't tell me you want to test your endurance against those so soon after recovering from the last training! I'm afraid I'd have to put my foot down, dood! I won't let you harm yourself so unnecessarily, dood!"

"At ease, Captain. Its nothing so insane." You chuckle a little at the gesture, but in the back of your head you store the idea for later training techniques. "We're going to ambush Brynn using Tartarus as a trap to limit his access to allies. I was thinking about setting mines and other traps to further tilt things in our favor."

"Ah... I see, dood." The Prinny strokes an non-existent beard with a sagely look on his face. "WAIT A MINUTE, DOOD! YOU'RE BRINGING THE FIGHT HERE, DOOD?!" His expression shifts in an instant. His eyes nearly bulging out of his head and gallons of sweat pouring out from under his hat. "C-Can we talk about this first, dood?! Lady Anasael would never forgive me if any of her beloved books got singed in the fighting, dood! Aw, dood..." Captain turns away from you as he mumbles to himself.

>Press the issue. Booby trap everything!
>Don't push it. Only trap the arrival area.
>Rethink the plan. Collateral damage to the Netherworld might have some unexpected consequences later.

"But since she used so powerful sitely she had objects or items to limit damage, right? I mean what kind of powerful mahic user does not make their library explosion proof?" You tilt your head in confusion."Anyway, do any of you can set a barrier while we fight? So he cannot excape and the damage is limited. You know... one would think that a powerful magic user wpuld have assistants that can do that... she didn't even think about it, did she?"

*In the games those barriers are probably used or when you fight Baal for example, you would end nuking the Netherworld.

Question: Do the others know we are booby-trapping the place?

If not, we might wanna rethink this.

"Hey, hey, calm down, Captain. It's not like I'm planting bombs all over Tartarus." You wave your hands to gesture for him to calm down. "Besides, if since Ana used to be so powerful, surely she has something that limits the damage, right?" You tilt your head and the Captain mirrors you.

"Something that limits collateral damage? OH I think Lori has some old rock that does something like that, dood!" He scampers off, leaving you alone. Alone with an unlocked armory filled with explosives just a few hundred feet away. Things are about to escalate so fast and it only makes you more excited.

>Don't contain it! Frolick to the bombs and place them with a smile on your face and a song in your heart!
>Rush as fast as you can and place them down and remember to map them out!
>Think things out some more. Plan your layout in advance so you can coordinate with the others.

Time is of the essence, so you quickly make your way into the armory. Taking as many bombs as you can carry in your arms, you hurry back to the entrance area of Tartarus and begin placing them. It seems that these bombs were part of her magical studies, too. Once you set them down, the explosives camouflage themselves against the obsidian tile almost seamlessly. Thinking about it a little, it wouldn't do for your allies to accidentally step on one of these devices and hurt themselves. You have one of the undead maids fetch you some paper and a pen. You make sure to mark where you placed the bombs and make enough copies for you, Kain, Ana, MP, and even one for Barrabus when the fight is done so clean up and bomb disposal can start.

With the bombs in place and the maps made, you go over your own mental check list.

>I'm all done. Now we wait. (Skip to the Counter Attack Roll d100s for both MP's and Ana's matches)
>I'm all done. Just in time to see MP's match.

Well... not really potions as much as food. Tartarus does have a concessions stand, but its a bit overpriced.

Actually now that I look at the time, I think I'm going to call things here for the session.

Next time. We will begin the end... of the first arc!

Next Episode: Misterious Person Detective 14!

"Why did you save me? Why?" Lucy asks, wearing a Maid uniform

"If I don't have a reason for someone to die, why should I let it die? You are more useful to me alive, right?" MP14 said while wearing a classical Sherlock Holmes costume.

"That's true, that's how a true demon should think! As expected from Dark Knight Sama!" Anasael said while wearing a school girl uniform.

"Ah right, I will go to wash Dark Knight Sama clothes." Lucy bows and leaves. 'That bastard, he doesn't care about me who is a man wearing woman clothes and with a girl name! He just saved me because I was useful. Oh my, Anasael-chan is right, that's how a demon should act, Dark Knight Sama is incredible!'

"Big brother, why are you looking so scared?" Gneotho asks while wearing a private school schoolgirl uniform.

"I don't how but sundenly I feel like someone walked over my grave."

In the next episode of Misterious Person Detective 14!, Kain goes on a date with our-

"THAT'S ENOUGH! THIS ISN'T A DETECTIVE SERIES AT ALL, IT JUST COMEDY AND ROMANCE WITH STUPID GAGS, I QUIT!" Misterious Person then 14 leaves the scenario.

In the next episode of Anasael Sage Detective and Healer by night, A Dark Knight dies when he is killed, and our lovely detective has to find out why.

"BASTARDS!"

I tend to imagine MP14 as Zelgadis from Slayers. Anasael as Amelia and I don't know about the rest.

How about this a custom class for our Healer?

Elder Witch: A witch that has lived for centuries and reached legendary status in her magic use. This unique Overdrive mode multiplies magic spells by x3, although other stats gains are minimal. While not a front line fighter, the Elder Witch is devastating at long range, and very good at middle range if it has a strong tank to shield her.

Her attack spells tend to be too strong for the frontlines.

The Elder Witch is basically the evolution of the Sage class, only strong healing magic and middle range attack spells are added. It can also remember any spell Anasael has cast as another class, but won't be able to use it if Anasael couldn't use it before activating Overdrive.

As the Elder Witch, Anasael has the potential to use any kind of magic a Mage or Witch can use but due to certain bastard who turned her into a Cleric, Anasael will have to take time to learn said spells as a class that can use them outside Overdrive mode.
