Stage 140: Time does fly when your plotting goes awry....

You're on the phone with a childhood friend, who has maintained a closeness that could have been considered 'that way', if she weren't 'that way' for younger girls. Well, younger in a relative sense, you ARE two hundred and twenty six or so. Give or take a decade. And Kiku-chan, who is still older than you are, is definitely her type in appearance. Peta might even be older, and has Chisato neatly tied about her little finger, so you're not really worried about anything more than hugs and kisses that direction anyways.

Also, you suspect Kiku-chan might have demonstrated that she is not to be messed with.

You have been relaxing as much as you can today, between absolutely necessary duties such as making love with your wife, having sex with your samurai (there is a difference, one which you will thoroughly enjoy exploring both facets of in time), giving orders to your Harbinger and your Herald, examining priceless relics and scaring the heaven out of yourself with them, talking with your personal kami (which apparently includes one so old that even old kami bow to it), and getting oni-girls drunk and getting them to confess about their feelings.

All in preparation for destroying large sections of Japan, which comes out sounding a lot weirder than....no, it really is that weird. But that's why you're talking with the head of the local Yakuza gangs in the area. A woman, yes, but she has a few new advantages that most of her people do not. Peta-chan, the head of a nogitsune-child clan, is chief among them. A strange amalgam of human Yakuza and nogitsune-child companions are also counted among those advantages. Mainly, of course, is yourself, who arranged the previous advantages.

While the Chivalrous Organizations are criminal, they are also interested in the welfare and well-being of the average Japanese to an extent. They have provided disaster relief unasked before, and this time you are giving them time to work. Unfortunately it is very difficult to convince people that the world is coming to an end (even if it is a small one), so poor Chisato has been doing much of this preparation against the wishes of her seniors.

Which wouldn't be so bad if one of them wasn't a Little Brother, meaning someone who has actually taken sake with the head of her organization, even by proxy. He seems to be interested in nipping the uppity junior member's activities in the bud, because they're starting to gain her recognition and notoriety, as well as interest in other ways. The fact that you have a member of the Public Security Offices in hand through Peta's assistance is also helping Chisato quite a bit you suspect, and that is a secret the Yakuza doesn't need to know about just yet.

“So, you're really going to have a talk with my bancho?” Chi-chan sounds a little nervous about it, though she's putting on a good front for anyone who isn't a Water dragonette. “I mean, Peta has offered to take care of him a few times, but I haven't let her. I mean, I know she could, because she did all sorts of stuff while we were at the police station, but I haven't got a fuckin' clue about how bad the results could be, y'know?”

[] Probably wise, to be honest.
[] Well, she'll be coming along with you to the meeting....
[] And I bet that's not all she's offered to do either!
[] I think it's pretty safe to discuss it with her at least.
[] Is there something that worries you more than you're saying?

So were we planning to deal with this ASAP, or? I had a lot of stuff going on during last session, and I realize now I didn't actually follow close enough for it to stick very well long-term apparently. I should probably re-read it really but I got this game here...

[XXX] And I bet that's not all she's offered to do either!
[XXX] Probably wise, to be honest.
[XXX] Is there something that worries you more than you're saying?
[XX] Well, she'll be coming along with you to the meeting....
[X] I think it's pretty safe to discuss it with her at least.

“I'm sure she's offered a couple of other services to you as well, Chi-chan,” you murmur in a very sultry voice. While she struggles to cope with the rapidly developing blush you're positive she's suffering through, you continue. “I'm pretty sure it's safe to talk such things over with her – she might not speak but I would lay bets she lets you know what she means pretty well – I think you've got the right idea in not letting her do too much of that. Youkai-children like her sometimes think a lot differently than you or I, and I'm only mostly human in my thinking.”

“Hey-hey, she's not a child you know! I mean she LOOKS like one and all but-”

“Chi-chan, it's me. I have my own, remember? Mine's the one who gave you the eyes.” She doesn't usually sound this defensive – in fact, you've never heard her sound this defensive. If someone suggested something like that she would have torn them a new asshole then kicked it.

She apologizes rapidly, and takes a couple of deep breaths. You hear some rustling and grin, suspecting she now has a cute fox-girl in her lap and is being leaned against. “Ah, sorry, Aoi-chan, I'm just not used to that sort of teasing yet.” That worries you even more; she usually takes it in stride.

“Chi-chan....is something bothering you? And don't tell me it's the job or the work. You know what I mean.” There is silence over the line for a few seconds, and then a soft rustling noise followed by a soft exhale; hug time, your sure of it. Then more rustling as Peta sits back down in Chisato's lap. “You can always tell me everything, Chi-chan. You always could.”

“....I know you're a spirit-child, Aoi....no, Ryukuza-san....”

“If it's you, Chi-chan, I am always your Aoi-chan.”

You can almost hear her throat tighten. She swallows, takes a deep breath and lets it out very slowly. “Yeah, Aoi-chan. I know. It's just....I understand that you are a spirit child, but I'm having a hard time now that I'm getting a sense of the scope of what you're doing here is like.” You don't say anything immediately; there's more to it, you're sure. She continues, hesitantly. “I mean....i get that you have to cause these disasters, these bad things, because the kami told you to....but does it really have to be as bad as Akari says it is?” Desperation. That's the sound of desperation, and it hurts to hear it from a friend.

[XX] The other way is worse, believe me.
[XX] Explain the difference between a catastrophe and a disaster.
[XXX] I'm trying my hardest....but I think that the answer is 'yes'.
[+] Akari tends to be....factual.
[+] Many apologies....but there is hope. Lots of it.
[+] You and yours are making this situation better by the hour.

It hurts to hear that note of desperation in her voice, hurts deep, like a splinter lodged in your Pearl would have. You close your eyes and take your own deep breath, and let it out slowly.

“Chi-chan,” you ask softly, “do you know the difference between a disaster and a catastrophe?”

She is silent for a few heatbeats. “....no....is there one?”

“A disaster is an unexpected and utterly uncontrollable destruction, something from surprise that no one has control over. It isn't the same as a catastrophe. A catastrophe is worse than a disaster. It changes what comes after; the Kanto Quake was a disaster....but Hiroshima and Nagasaki were catastrophes.” You let that sink in. “And a catastrophe can be caused, Chi-chan. I am going to cause catastrophe, all across Japan. It is inevitable, yes, but it isn't uncontrollable. Also, Akari-niji-chan is a very blunt sort of person, in case you hdn't noticed.”

She makes a half-choked sobbing laugh.

“I am hoping that you will help me keep this catastrophe from being worse than it could be. And I don't mean that I hope you will....I mean I hope that your help is going to keep the people from being as badly harmed as they could be. At least the ones who really matter.”

“The people who live in the real world,” she murmurs softly, referring to the common people of Japan, as opposed to the rich and powerful.

“Yes. Because as bad as I am going to be, the other choice was worse. I wracked my brains tryign to work around it as best as I can....but this isn't just the kami, or even the Great Kami willing this to happen. You test the words in your head, plan to say them, and you are relieved, no, thankful that you may say this to your friend. “I was told by Amaterasu-Omikami herself, face to face, that this is what she needs. I believe her, Chi-chan; I don't want to do this, but if I have to, and I must because she told me I must....and despite that I am going to try and make sure it is at least less harmful to the people of Japan than what might happen without your help.”

She sniffles softly and you speak more softly, your eyes closed, your own tears silent. “I am a terrible friend, Chi-chan, for asking this of you. And I beg your forgiveness, for this terrible, terrible burden I have placed upon you. But you are the only one who can help me bear it for this moment. What you are doing, what you have done, it matters, Chi-chan. It matters, because you make it matter. Every thing you have done will save people. Their lives, their livelihoods, their hope and their dreams.” Chisato is crying, softly but freely now. “Akari and Yui are doing their very best to help me. Er Yin and Kiku-chan as well. Kiki-hime will play her part soon, and she doesn't even know it yet. But without the help that you can give me, we could not do this at all.”

Blinking your tears away, literally, you shake your head. “I wish I could be telling you this to your face, Chi-chan. It is unfair to have to do this so far away. But I want you to know, to remember....that because of you, we will save one hundred, maybe one thousand times more lives than I could ever have done without you. These terrible things will happen...but because of you, because you are my friend....I will be able to look at my reflection and not turn away. It is a gift that is priceless, and I can never do or say anything that will show you all my gratitude, Hyun Chisato.”

Chisato sniffles softly. “If it is you, Aoi-chan, then I am always your Chi-chan,” she murmurs, half sobbing a laugh.

“Arigatou, gozimasu, Chi-chan,” you murmur softly. “You and Peta-chan will come to the meeting with us. You will be there, because everything you have done, everything you will do....it matters, Chi-chan. It matters to the Kami, to Japan, and to me.”

“Hai, Aoi-chan. I will come.”

“Thank you, Chi-chan.”

“I will see you then.”

“Hai.”

The soft beep of her hanging up the phone prompts you to turn yours off and set it aside. You take slow, deep, breaths, and let the emotions wash through you, letting them become part of you, and accepting them. It hurts, kami it hurts bad.....but at the same time, you feel that it might just be all right, a little.

Even if it is just a little, it matters.

You wipe your nose and wash your face, and straighten up. You clean the glasses too and set them back on your nose, because why the fuck not.

A few years ago, yakuzas had very complex tattoos covering their whole back or more. They referred to it as a "bodysuit".
It's rarer nowadays because it's a huge investment in money and time as they cost thousands of bucks and take years to complete (not to mention the tattoos are applied with a traditional technique that is apparently very painful), but the leaders or sufficiently high ranking "officers" in the organization are most likely old enough to have one.

[X] Time to go see about that Kaga Sorceress in your Barrier.

Standing up, you brush off imaginary dust and do several stretches, including the one that pops your neck. Then you make the bed. Of course, it helps that you can use breezes and gusts of wind to move the sheets and blankets around. Once that is done you prepare a full service of tea, and a few small snacks as well. It is soothing work, mundane, calming work. Simple things. Probably only took you a few minutes at best. But the act of doing those things helps more than how long it takes you to do them. You tuck the glasses into Nowhere after all; if you recall correctly (you do) she wears glasses, and you don't want to make her think you are making fun of her.

That done, you create a Barrier, locking the whole of the bedroom inside it. It gives you more time, but also it's the only way to access the Kaga sorceress. You draw her out of the depths you plunged her into, smiling as she wakens immediately, blinking in surprise. “Hello, Kaga Kei. It has been a little while, but the ones whom I let go think you're dead at the moment, so, you may panic about things later.”

She blinks rapidly. “How did you learn my name?”

“You started to say it when I 'interrogated' you.” She blushes and looks down. “That aside, I still don't know what the Kaga Clan is up to and I think it might actually be relevant to find out.” Kei looks up, fearful but you hold up your right hand. “However, I'm not certain you actually know, because to be honest, you're the kind of person the clan wouldn't trust with that information – a genuinely good person.”

Her confusion is obvious and you smile faintly and pour her some tea. She glances at her clothing, which was soaking wet last she was awake, and then at you, finally looking at the cup of tea. “Oolong. Pretty fresh. No drugs. Don't really need them.” She nods at the last part, understanding perfectly.

She thinks it over carefully and finally accepts the tea. “What is it that you want from me, Ryuu Ryukusa?”

[] That is an excellent question, really.
[] A little help, actually.
[] Nothing important – information, a few clues, your immortal soul, that sort of thing.
[] That depends on how much trouble you think your clan is about to cause.
[] I have a proposition for you....

[X] That depends on how much trouble you think your clan is about to cause.
[X] I have a proposition for you....

“Well, I could ask for your immortal soul, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to deal with things like that a little later. That said, it kind of depends on you.” You take a cup of the tea and sip it slowly. It is interesting that she isn't distracted or in awe of your appearance, which is much different than the last time she saw you, with the power of the Ruyi of Horobi influencing your looks. On the other hand, the last time she saw you was essentially as a prisoner in a typhoon, so maybe you're reading too much into that.

Kaga Kei studies her tea for a moment, and you let her. She seems fairly interesting in that despite her situation she is more concerned with propriety and staying calm. Water Eyes won't tell you anything more than they did the last time – that she is earnest, straightforward, and very bright, though somewhat naive and trusting. At least of her superiors. Not like you can condemn her for that!

“How does it depend on me, Ryukusa-sama?” she finally asks.

You consider for a moment and then lean back, your tail coiling halfway around the massive bed area. “Well, really it depends on how dangerous you think the things that your clan is doing are. They seems to have invested a great deal in trying to distract me from what they're up to, and that kind of worries me. Not much mind you, but if they are getting their information from, say, the Hojo Group, or Clan Ryo, it might be a problem for me. And really I have plenty of those.” She looks at you over her thin glasses. “I may have to wreck Japan, but that doesn't necessarily mean I have to wreck it completely or without taking care of the people of Japan.”

Her lack of surprise doesn't surprise you. Kaga sorcerers would undoubtedly have mystics, seers, and oracles. It would have been more surprising if she hadn't been told that in some way or another. “Why do you have to cause the end of the world, Ryukusa-sama? Are you being made to do this? Is there anything I may do to convince you not to do so?”

Well, her hear tis certainly in the right place. A little overdone for the standard heroic sacrifice proposal, but she actually means it.

I don't know what to choose

>>811960

Honestly, I think it's more likely the sorcerers have been told bullshit than Ryukusa somehow possibly destroying the world.

I mean, everyone who know anything about the subject has been pretty specific: Ryukusa's task is ONLY Japan.

But that would explain why Chinese sorcerers would go destroy Japanese youkai disguised as Christians sent by the Vatican.

[+] Wait, WORLD?
[+] Um, you lost me.

You tilt your head and try to keep the utter bemusement from your expression and voice. You mostly succeed, but really you're just not trying very hard. “You do realize that the whole 'sacrifice yourself to the demonic overlord' idea doesn't actually work in real life right? I may look like the classical Western demon, but I'm purely dragonette. Just how long were you undercover with the Catholics, Kei-sama?”

That nets you a look of confusion. “I'm sorry?”

You blink and open Water Eyes. No, she really is being earnest, but the confusion you seem to be evoking isn't confusion about what she thinks, but confusion about what you are trying to say for some reason.

“What we've got here is a failure to communicate.” She blinks again, absolutely lost. “Huh. All right, what exactly do you think would make me not want to destroy the world?” You lean casually against the side of the bed, looking at her seriously.

She hesitates and then frowns, thinking quite hard on the matter. “Well, traditionally, a virgin princess is sacrificed to the beast, and then a hero comes to rescue her. The beast is defeated after a very dark, destructive battle, and the princess weds the hero.” Nothing you realy haven't thought of already, though you're pretty sure Kiki-hime is the princess in this equation, and you, of course the beast. “So, a vigin sacrifice would prevent you from destroying the world by summoning a hero.”

….

Is THAT how Taisho Ryoga sees himself? Kiki-hime's hero? That would be....

No. That's how the Kaga clan must view Kaga Ushino, Kiki-hime's future husband. So they must be fostering an image of you destroying Jap....

“Wait, did you say 'the world', Kei-sama?”

She nods calmly. “It is in the bible, you know. 'And the beast with seven heads rose up from the sea, bearing ten horns, with ten crowns. Upon one head was a wound which healed itself, and all who saw were struck in awe by this, and followed the beast from the sea to the land.' Some say it is the return of Yamato-no-Orochi, but others believe it means that Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado will come bearing seven swords this time, and the crowns represent the elements that they have power over.”

Seven sisters, with Inau-kun bearing three elements, instead of one; and one who is immortal, surviving an impossible wound, such as Yuuhi-chan might survive. The math doesn't quite work out, but there might be other circumstances. “That still doesn't explain how I plan on destroying the world, you know.”

“By leading those who follow you into the Diet, you will take control, and the new age of imperialism will begin, since you will hold the power over men and women, marking them as your own.” The mark of the beast? That's a bit far fetched....except you have, kind of, marked them as yours. You promised to protect them, and safeguard their lives and well being. Taking them into your clan....ah. Your own mon, of course. “Japan sits on several major tectonic points....if you do as much damage as is said, you will destroy much more than Japan, possibly the entire world.” Frighteningly she is fairly certain of this.

You lean back and sigh softly. “I see. But there is something you should see as well, Kei-sama.” She looks a little confused, but not frightened. You lower the barrier, and she blinks in surprise at your less impressive form. “Look carefully, using your magic. It will come clear in a moment.” You smile and sit cross legged, smiling faintly at her.

Kei hesitates, but looks up into your eyes, and concentrates. You let her do so – your Water Eyes reveal no threat. Her eyes shimmer faintly, and then you feel her Magic Eyes open. They are a combination of Fire, Void, and very weak Water or wood eyes, but it is enough. She reads what is written across your cheeks, and gasps aloud.

(Aniki?) The 'voice' is Yui's, but you can feel Yuuhi's awareness as well. Akari knows already of course, but you're pleased by Yui's quick reaction. She's getting better and better.

[X] Ask her what she would do if you answered strangely.
[XX] Why don't you bring Fuuta-chan in, I have someone she should talk to.
[XX] Reassure Yui and Yuuhi both.

(….what in heaven would you have done if I had answered strangely, Yui-chan?)

(Informed Er Yin and Kiku-chan immediately and waited for orders from Akari while distractign you,) is her prompt answer. A lot more than you expected of her, actually. (Akari-chan has been training me a lot,) she confides a little shyly.

(You would have done absolutely right, Yui-niji-chan; I am safe in your hands.) The pride that she feels at your words is eclipsed by the love she feels for you and her lover. You sincerely doubt you'll ever have to worry about pride being a failing point in her. Lack of it maybe at times, but there is no comparison to her love of you and Akari; even Kiki-hime comes a close second.

You reassure Yuuhi-chan as well, giving her some specific orders once you have determined she isn't planning on anything other than a nap. (Could you bring Fuuta-chan here please Yui-niji-chan? I have someone she might need to speak with.) You look at the shaken Kaga sorceress, and smile gently. (I think I may have broken her a bit.)

(Don't break the help, aniki, we kind of need them.)

….you're not really quite sure how to respond to that strange answer.

“So, your original mission was to facilitate someone else's efforts to stop me from destroying the world?” She nods slowly. “I don't know that I can explain it to you properly, given our very different points of view.” Kei looks at you with a touch of trepidation now.

The door opens and Yui-niji-chan brings in Fuuta-chan. You can't help but admire Yui-chan's outfit, though; the schoolgirl look really suits her, despite her white-bronze hair. Kei looks at you, then at Yui, and her cheek darken just a touch. Then Fuuta-chan follows and bows at the doorway and she looks shocked. “My subordinate, Yui-niji-chan, and my chronicler, Ryuu Fuuta.” Yui glances at Fuuta who jerks in shock, and places a hand over her heart. “I think you two will have much to discuss. But first....” You make a gesture and Kaga Kei goes very, very still, feeling the cold steel pressed against her carotid.

Yui and Fuuta freeze, staring at Yuuhi, who seems to have materialized out of Nowhere. “Allow me to make it very clear that you are in my home, and that the people here are absolutely dedicated to one another's safety and protection. This especially includes Kumatori Kiki, as you know her, and myself. While I have no qualms about defending myself, the others may hesitate.”

The steel slowly moves along Kaga Kei's throat as Yuuhi circles to make herself seen by the young sorceress. “Yuuhi-niji-chan, however, will not. I am not threatening you, Kaga Kei. I'm merely telling you: this is how it is. If I wished you to die, I would have killed you before. I would much rather be able to make a proposition to you, when you and Fuuta-chan have finished talking.” Yuuhi-niji-chan sheathes her nodachi, and settles down to sit on the floor near the bed, within easy cutting distance of both Fuuta-chan and Kei.

When she nods slowly, you bow at the waist. “I apologize for bringing you into this danger....but I think that in the end, you will see things in a way you hadn't before....yes, Yuuchi-chan?”

“Can we have popcorn?”

“....yes?”

“'Kay, thanks!” She bounces up and wanders out of the room, with all four of you staring after her.

“....so, relax, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. The door will be open. Also, Yuuhi-niji-chan might be a little strange.” The poor sorceress nods slowly. “Right, have fun. Yui-niji-chan.” You stand up and step out of the inset bed, to walk with your oni-chick into the hallway.

“How did she do that, aniki?”

You glance at Yui-niji-chan. “No idea. I think she teleports.”

Yui gives you a dubious look.

“No, really, I think she teleports.” The living room is largely deserted, save for Yuuhi-chan in the kitchen, your sister in an easy chair, smiling and chatting with your wife, and Akari-chan , who is kneeling in front of you wife and appears to be lacing up her boot.

Said boot one of a pair of black suede boots, which have very tight leather pants of a similarly dark hue tucked into them, which is held up by a sleek belt of silver links with a pastel pink spinel gem at the buckle. This rises into a very soft, loose satin blouse with a wide neck and split open arms, cuffed at the elbow and the wrists with soft suede. In addition to her white jade, she has added a white gold band with a small pink garnet heart, and on her other hand, a silver band with finely cut and polished green and yellow jade, a larger blue sapphire and a topaz that matches the other, smaller stones. Her hair it pulled back and held in place by a silver hair band with a delicate heart of rose-colored gold. She rises and smiles at you as Yui moves to kneel at her side, and Akari turns to face you, at her other side.

“Ryu-chan.”

My take on it is this: Destruction comes in many forms. We're going to destroy the worlds that orbit people's heads, and enlighten them a bit about the other world that they all exist in.

Also, that Temple is protected, and the pearl beds weren't spiritually damaged, so while the buildings on the Island are going to wash away, the Temple itself will be a refuge (and should be fine, because everyone there will be praying).

You had thought that her dressing up Akari and Yui to match in their school uniforms was as far as she would take it. Then she had to not only do that but follow suit in her own way. You knew she was a model, and that she was definitely an idol, but this surpasses anything you had expected.

“Aniki?” Yui's voice floats off from a distance of ten thousand miles.

“Ryu....chan?”

“I think she has been overwhelmed,” comments Akari from another ten thousand miles away.

Nothing could have prepared you for this, and it takes a moment for you to start your brain again. You bow very deeply, which alarms most everyone, though your sister is smiling behind her fan. “Please excuse me, I am somewhat under-dressed for this occasion, and must rectify that issue at once.”

You immediately turn around and walk back into the master bedroom, where Fuuta-chan and Kaga Kei pause in their philosophical and mystical discussion to watch you pull several bolts of cloth out of Nowhere and lay them out. You follow this with silver chain and linked sapphire and silver jewelry and several sets of shoes in multiple styles.

You hear them, but their words only register as afterthoughts in your memory, not really anything that impinges upon you at the moment they are spoken.

“What is she doing?” asks Kei-sama softly.

Fuuta-chan shakes her head, a little lost as well.

“She is dressing for her wife and the twins,” confides Yuuhi-chan softly.

“The twins?”

“Ryuu Akari and Ryuu Yui....they are twins in spirit, not in body,” explains Fuuta-chan.

“But...why is she doing that?”

“Because Ryukusa is Ryukusa,” announces Yuuhi-chan in her soft, gentle voice. “And they are her beloved niji-chan and her wife.”

You sense, more than observe how this declaration troubles Kei-sama, but not because of the claim on Kiki-hime.

“Just because someone is strong, doesn't mean they should suffer for others weakness.” Your voice makes Kei and Fuuta-chan jump. You slide the cloth away, and start sewing the next piece into place. Brassier? No, something else. Perhaps a sewn in. “Just because someone is weak, doesn't mean they should suffer at the hands of the strong.” Diamonds, definitely diamonds. Silver though, you're too pale for gold. “Just because someone is different doesn't mean that others should abuse them for that.” Shoes....heels? Flats. Sapphires, yes, and rubies, yes. Oh, better, fire opals. Yes, that should help.

“That seems....too compassionate for a destroyer to claim,” Kaga Kei offers hesitantly.

“Would you rather wear a white robe, or a red robe,” you murmur softly. Fuuta-chan starts at that question. Yuuhi-chan only smiles. You speak a little more loudly. “A surgeon uses blades, needles, thread, opens bodies, takes things out, puts things in. Destroys healthy flesh to cut away the much worse injuries and cancers. You can have a second at your back with a sharp blade....but would you rather have the one who wields the blade with skill, or the one who merely does the job without care or concern?” A fold here, a bit of extra here....clasps? No, more thread. Better.

Kei-sama seems troubled by your words, deeply troubled.

You stand up and pick up the work, and study it. “In the end, I am the one who will have the power whether I want it or not. Because others will force the choice. But just because I have to be the strong one, doesn't mean I don't have to do anything for those who will suffer for the choices and destiny before me. I won't sit idly by and let other dictate how the people suffer without any say in it.” You lower your arms, and then turn to the trio watching you in awe.

“Just because I won't let anyone harm my family doesn't mean I am going to go out of my way to hurt other families, other people. They may get caught up in the battle, but it wasn't I who declared the war. I will finish what they started, because if I don't, the people I love will suffer fates worse than death.” You take a deep breath and release it. “I promised them, with nothing more than my own strength, not with the power that I never wanted in the first place.” Once more you leave the trio staring at you as you step into the hallway and turn towards your niji-chans' room to change into the dress you've made.

You're honestly surprised at your own lack of bitterness.

>Silver though, you're too pale for gold.

Nonsense!

Gold is great even for pale-skinned people

Silver with pale skin often look too plain or too melancolic

She's not sure about YHWH, because she hasn't had dealings with many Jewish Japanese (they do exist), but the Christian deity is a Kami, as is his representative Christ. Japanese Christianty is almost as bizzare as the Voudoun religion has become with the influx of Christianity into it - while Christianity usually appropriates other religions, in both cases the local religions appropriated parts of their faith instead.

In Japan, at least, the fact that Jesus is a Greater Kami gives Christianity a potency that is on a par with the power of Shinto priests, and their nuns and pastors the potency of miko and spiritualists.

This does have the side effect of making them vulnerable to the same things the Shinto believers are vulnerable to, unfortunately.

As of now, Ryukusa is wortkign on the theory (and given her mind, it is a pretty good workign theory) that the Kaga leaders have been duping less informed members, using carefully edited prophecy and oracular visions. It's not the first time a clan has been influenced according to the leader's needs, after all.

Also, consider the source - a naive young sorceress who has been carefully coached to perform as needed, as opposed to effectively.

Well, she does have to match her loved ones in this instance, who have decided on black, silver, and colorful gems in tiny amounts.

Oh are the Jews and Christians separate religions in Ryukusa verse? Instead of Christianity being a Jewish cult/offshoot?
>>
>>812483
Oh, so wait a sec, the God of the Israelites=/=God the Father=/=Allah?

I figured that all of them were El Shaddai, a deity who mastered marketing to the extent that He became a global phenomenon (albeit with a very unstable base).

You have to remember, that faith makes deities in this world as much as deities make faith. It works in both directions, and when one faith becomes separated to the point where they no longer carry the same belief structure, the deities may as well be different beings at that point - and can become different beings.

Needless to say, it makes 'offshoot religions' extremely volatile (Judaism and Christianity being so far separated they cannot come to a consensus on how things work, for example), almost as volatile as belief structures with opposite intents (Shinto vs Buddhism, for example, where the perfected places and objects and tools in the world around you clashes with the perfected and object-disassociated self).
>>
>>812555
Ah okay. That must be fun for some religions. (looking at you Germanic paganism)
>>
>>812555
Yeah that makes sense. But wait, how bad are things for Christian-YHWH fragment, with the whole Protestanism thing? Are things till homagenous enough for Him to maintain cohesion? Also, is He more or less the same being who at least nominally is at the top in Europe, the Americas, parts of Africa, and Australia? I know that the indigenous deities have managed to stick around in your quest, but I'm not sure if that means that Christianity just didn't catch on as well in those regions.

Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, and a whole host of others, anon.
>>
>>812575
Most Christianity offshoots are still focused on Jesus and his Father; the splits usually occur where worships is concerned (Allah being separate from YHWH being separate from God because each is worshiped differently). This had and continues to have the side effect of allowing outreach from the source of a religion into other lands. Just because Ryukusa would be far from Japan is she traveled to America doesn't mean she ceases to exist herself, even though she herself is technically a religious force of Japan. It does mean she would have to follow the Shinto and/or Koshinto rites more closely to maintain the kami she caries, and to prevent her Shen from becoming too low. On the other hand, a Voudoun priestess would have less issues, as they carry their Loa with them, often literally. It takes time and careful effort to spread one's deities and faiths, and resistance can be quite fierce (and occasionally deadly).

Do each monotheistic branch have their own set of Angels, or do they share?

Also what's the deal with Saints? Japan seems to have accumulated a pretty respectable amount.
>>
>>812796
Again, the power of faith creates the pantheon as much as it is created by the worshipers; so angels are much like kami or youkai, independent of and yet part of the religious experience they are connected to. So the answer is a resunding 'depends'.

Saints on the other hand, are people who have received a spiritual investiture of some sort or another, and thus made a kind of immortal. Some pass on to what may as well be called nirvana or heavens (or even hells!), others (like Yuuhi) remain to assist the world in reaching enlightenment.
>>
>>812796
I sure hope Japanese saints are more benevolent than that one dude that had a bunch of kids KUMA SHOCK'd because they called him bald.
>>
>>813768
Such people tend to become youkai or curses rather than saints.
