I just realized today is friday. I thought it was thursday... sorry for getting the days confused

***

We hold the princess hand while crossing the bridge towards the city.

Underneath, if we get close to the fence on the sides, we can see seas of clouds and myst rolling far under us, in which the pillars sink and dissapear, giving the impression of slowly moving water.

Despite the mass of clouds, its rather warm and sunny where we are, and the wind is the only thing keeping us fresh. It picks up Mako's hair and plays with it, causing it to fly like a banned of midnight behind her.

"Hnn.." -she complains softly as she tries to keep her skirt down with her free hand.

Well, the wind only picks it up very slightly, sort of inflating it and exposing her ankles, but thats already enough to cause our pretty princess to blush a little bit...

>>Let's go to visit mr Percywell right away

We hire a cart to take us to mr Percywell's residence. It is in the third city ring (1st ring is mostly government buildings, with the 2nd being the oldest families of the city, and the 3rd being the merchant princes and other people who have moved up in life), next to a small plaza and a small marketplace for high end goods.

We help Mako board the cart, then climb up behind her. The cart is high quality and quite well made, with a very small sway when we board, showing that it has the latest in spring suspension, something that has only very recently made its debut in the region.

No, it wasnt us, it was actually an import from Sbastia, where it had been in use for a while yet.

"Oh, the seats are really nice..." -Mako notices as she sits against a corner, making space for us next to her.
"Yes." -we say as we sit next to her, and right away give her a little kiss
"Eldric!" -she says, blushing and looking down with a smile
"I'm sorry." -then we kiss her again. Another butterfly little kiss
"Eldric!" -she smiles again
"I'm sorry." -then we kiss her again

This repeats itself for a while... by the time we realize, we are already out of the first ring and half way through the second.

There's mostly manors here, with nearly noone on the streets. In this sector, even the maids take a private coach when they go shopping to the markets in the 3rd ring.

Obviously there's no markets in the 1st or 2nd rings.

There's food carts in the plazas, though.

"Oh, that is Stella's school." -we notice while going past the large building
"Is that so?"

Mako turns around to look outside the coach. The tall neck of her dress has a long slit down the middle, so we take advanatage of her moment of distraction to kiss her there.

"Eldric!" -she complains again, while blushing

Ah, no, we do manage to hold back, though.

"Yes, it is an academia for future knights and civil servants."
"Oooh"

Well, somehow, I can't imagine Stella as a civil servant... I can see her as a knight, though, but for some reason I see her rescuins a princess, you know?

Well, our puppy little sister is rather handsome in a healthy and tomboyish way, though, so there's that...

The gates to the 3rd ring have a light guard, mostly for traditional reasons. They simply stand at attention and do not attempt to stop traffic flow of pedestrians or coaches.

Finally arriving at the 3rd ring, we can see that there are plenty of large states, but also manors with more utilitarian designs, stretching almost from street to street with very little in the way of gardens. Theres hardly any barred windows, though.

The streets are quite clean still, but there are some trash cans here and there, showing that there is a need for them, as there are much, much more pedestrian traffic in the area, with both the servants of the wealthier families and the wealthier people from the 4th rings walking around.

The state of Mr Percywell is located on the northern section of the ring. Its a large manor that occupies almost the entire block, with very little garden, but thankfully right across the street from a plaza.

As we approach, we can see a large number of children going out of the manor with a nanny (or at least a maid).

I guess he decided to use part of his own house as an orphanage.

The children are well dressed and seem in a good mood. Well, that's nice. Its definitively better to see how they do in a surprise visit than to announce ourselves and get treated to a scripted tour, after all.

The kids ages range between 9 and mid teens, I think?

They head south along the streets, integrating into the crowd and dissapearing.

The coach stops so we hop down and help Mako descend. As she steps down, the coach (just barely) sways a couple more times... its easy (for us) to guess that Ami and Mai just got off as well.

We hold Mako's hand and knock at the door of the state. A tall (for a) gnome dressed as a butler opens the door, and once we explain ourselves, asks us to step in and wait in the lobby while he announces our presence.

The lobby is quite large and bright, with numerous candelabra and a (currently unlit) fireplace. There are young children of several races sitting together, reading or playing.

They look well clothed and well fed, with some being rather timid while a few immedieately approach and want to make conversation.

The most daring ones try to drag Mako off to play with them or to have her read for them.

From what a maid explains, mr Percywell often hires a local teacher to give them private classes, so they might be a little too used to female visitors reading to them. She asks our understanding, and asks the children not to bother the visits.

Mako is already holding the story book, though...

After a few minutes, our host finally arrives, and greets us politely.

We greet mr Percywell and he invites us to stay for dinner. Meanwhile, he'll give us a tour of the manor, refurbished as orphanage.

"The younger children are staying here, while the older ones live in a building specifically remodeled as dormitories closer to the facoty, but some of the oldest one have preferred to begin working with me on the administrative side of things, so they are staying here as well."
"Ah, you have them help with inventory and supply management?"
"Two, yes. The thurd one is actually more helpful as a delegate, constantly traveling abroad to meet with the merchant lords of other regions." -he explains
"Oh... wait, by land?"
"No, usually he goes along with a load of goods so he can show a sample during his sale pitch, so by rockitship."
"That sounds rather busy." - mentions Mako- "Does she has any younger siblings left behind as she travels?"
"How did you know the person is female?"
"Is not?"
"No, it is, but..."
"I just guessed." -she says

Well, is not like we think girls cant do business or anything but it is a dangerous world. A young woman traveling alone... I guess its okay since its by rockitship? Its sort of like by plane, right?

Well, the kids do manage to drag Mako into reading them a story, so we get to see their bedrooms.

It's nothing too fancy, but its certainly not bad either. Most children share a bunk bed, and the younger ones share a single large room with space for some toys between two rows of beds.

Mako sits down on a small chair and reads them from an story book while we talk with mr Percywell by the door.

As it stands, he has three orphanages and 2 factories right now, with supply routes that go to Mantequira, Sbastia and Black Lake.

The young lady working as company representative is currently en route to Bastion in the far east, to try and create a new route to there, and hopefully convince the merchant princes there to ferry our goods down the shoreline to the many countries south of there.

We finally have dinner, and afterwards, we talk about...

The ERRORs won't stop, and they won't care about civilian casualties.

Having a local factory able to produce these weapons where the ERRORs will concentrate their attacks is a strategic asset.

"Eldric..." - Mako looks at us sidewise after dinner as we are climbing behind her into the coach.
"Yes?"

As we start climbing behind the princess, we find a delicate, lovely girl hand pushing us bacj out.

"What?"
"You just got a lot of cute kids to make weapons for you,"
"But they're important to keep them safe."
"I'm not happy about it." -she says softly

We have less than a year before this city is targeted by ERRORs. More ballista and cannons need to be set up around the city, as well as more shield generators, and a means to power them.
Being a ruler means making unpalatable decisions for the good of everyone.

Maybe we've been spoiling her too much over the years.

"Mako, can we talk about it inside?"
"Ah! Yes, I'm sorry..."

We sit next to her and close the door, then ask the coach driver to take us to the largest shopping district in town, and close the small window to his seat.

"Mako, listen, I know you... no, wait... I know its wrong to have anyone make weapons, but we're not doing this for money, we're doing it to increase everyones safety against those monsters, remember?"
"..you're right, I'm sorry. I just don't think its right to have children make weapons... I'm okay with them making cookies, and toys, and books... but weapons..."
"It's important. The [ERROR]s would eat them too, if they could."

She nods nods

"You're not selling them, right?"

Ah... actually we are selling them to Mantequira...

>But it is important that the children get a fair pay for their work, right?

Can't we make the output from the orphanage factories go straight to Eopolis and Lightbringer Keep defenses, and have other factories we own supply Mantequira?

Either way, we need Mantequira and Eopolis to send money to the orphanages for the guns; otherwise, the orphanages would run out of money buying the materials to construct the ballistas and cannons. Also, the kids doing the work need the money for the time and mana they expended.
>>
>>788741
Well, I honestly thought it was important to notice that Mako isn't just going to say yes to everything we say. She loves Eldric a lot, but if she thinks hes doing something wrong, or disagtees, she'll tell him
>>
>>788681
>>Other
We could make it so that the younger children wont be making weapons and use our other factories to complete the orders.
>>
>>791982
I don't think we have other factories, though.

Most of our money is tied up in the orphanage factories, of which there are only 2 (one in Albion and one in Eopolis).
The businesses that are to be turned over to us are the warehouses, docks, and rock-it ship shipping and ship-building.
No real workshops for the building of mana cannons and lightning ballista, or the engineering teams that could put as much of these as possible on assembly lines.

In fact, we should have been learning how to write laws, treaties, and bills from Uncle Wolfric.
Our dad is useless when it comes to leading and building, and our grandfather is completely worthless in this regard as well.
>>
>>803793
Cedric was a good parent except that he didn't teach Eldric anything to help him in his field of study or his career. Now, he did help Eldric get started on learning sword skills and such, and early leveling, but the past few years he really hasn't done much. Of course, his interference could have done more harm than good, as we saw with the sex education talk Cedric tried to give, so I guess we could say that the scales still favor him.

Grandpa is really useless, though. Worse than useless, his attitude left Wolfric shouldering the full burden of administering Eopolis and has left both Aldric and Eldric woefully ill-prepared for leadership, if it weren't for Eldric taking it upon himself to do what needs to be done.
I want to get strong enough and be successful enough to tell him the old fool that he should retire and get out of the way before he starts actively being a hindrance.
>>
Sorry for being MIA, guys. Real life is what happens when you have other plans. Today I woke up with a huge, horrible leg cramp and my muscle is all curled up so i cant even stretch the leg, so may as well sit down and write.

***

We hold Mako's hand and explain to her that we need those guns to fight the [ERROR]s, and soon.

There's just no better way to get all the weapons we need in time. Asmund's workshops will still produce most of the weapons, and we are taking a loss by switching our factory output on such short notice, but it has to be done.

After a short while, she seems to relax and nod, and shortly after, she starts growing redder and redder.

Ah, it's because we've been holding her hand for a while now. I guess it was too long for the cutesy princess,,, come think about it, we have always kept our interactions rather brief, uh?

Even when we kiss and cuddle, its usually less than this, or she is too distracted to notice.

Well, I think its cute that this is still enough to make her blush.

Lets lean in and give her a little kiss...

"Eh-" - she blushes brightly
*we kiss her*

"Uuuh..." - she complains softly, but we don't let her escape and kiss her a little more.

Ash, since we have time, let's go for a walk together. Uhm... taking her chopping would be nice, but we do have master Tazar back home for clothes, so maybe something else?

Wow that took a incredible amount of time. I was distracted by a friend but didnt think it was that long, sorry guys.

***

On the one hand, taking Mako to the manor and asking the staff to bring us food would be the simpler solution, but it wouldnt be much of a date, so we ask the driver to take us to a good restaurant.

And that is how we arrive at the outer area of the third city ring, where there are numerous cafes, food stands, and restaurants in the edge between the most afluent areas of the city and the beginning of the main housing ring.

Once we help the beautiful princess down from the coach, we look around and choose a nice looking place in a wide building.

It has two floors with a third one on the roof, serving as a panoramic floor, so we can enjoy the scenery while dining.

There are numerous pillars rising to the sky along the edges, between which temporal roofing is stretched when it rains or snows, so the dining guests can enjoy the floor despite the time of the year.

With her Albion uniform, Mako makes quite the attractive sight as we guide her upstairs, and a metre helps us find a table by the edge of the floor, so we can enjoy the view.

Now, while Mantequira is a coastal city, Mako spent a few years in Albion, high on the mountains, so lets treat her to some sea food.

The local fish are quite different on this side of the ocean, so thankfully we can be confident of introducing her some new flavors.

Honestly, we haven't tried the local food that much ourselves, though, so we need to trust the waiter's recommendation, and soon enough find a large plate of thin, wide slices of fish at our table, together with local vegetables and a interesting pink sauce.

Ah, I guess we're meant to help ourselves? Well, its kind of nice to serve Mako's food for her...

"What are these?" -she is sitting very straight, hands on her knees while we serve her, her long black hair cascading behind her.
"...I have no idea. Let's try them out." -Eldric replies with a smile
"Alright."

Oh, it's pretty good. The slices seem to melt apart in the mouth, and have a mild taste that goes well with the vegetables.

Uhmm... I guess it's okay to have liquor?

We'll be marrying soon. A glass each should be alright.

I think.

"And this?" -she asks enthusiastically as we pour into her cup
"I think its wine. Just have a little."

Well, with our stats, it shouldn't hurt?

"Wine?"
"Its basically fruit juice that... try it."
"Hnn... it tastes weird..."

Her wrinkled forehead and the way she shrugs looks rather adorable, but I guess we should ask for water, after all.

"Eldric, is it really alright for us to be alone?"
"I wouldn't really call us alone..." -since Ami and Mai are right there... somewhere- "But why do you ask?"

1/?

Oh should we feed Ami and Mai?
They're probably used to eating on their own, but getting a chance to eat some of the high-class food here is probably a rare occurrence.

"Won't Lyann feel sad we didn't invite her?"
"We haven't spent time together for a long while. I don't think she'll mind it."
"...alright. It's just, she loves Eldric a lot too, right? I always miss you when you are not with me"
"Alright. I will try for us to spend more time together."

She nods nods

"Will you kiss me a lot?"

The couple behind her choke a little on their meal.

"Yes. Of course."

Now they're hurriedly drinking wine while staring daggers at us.

"Eldric"
"Yes?"
"Can I have more fish?"
"Yes! Of course!"

It really is quite tasty.
So, kissing is natural and on the same level as fish... I guess that's good?
How come she gets so embarrased when we hold hands?

She is delicately taking apart the fish fillets into little bits before taking them to her lips, together with some vegeratbles... oh, I guess Ami and Mai did well teaching her to eat her greens... oh, she noticed us looking at her and is blushing now.

Wh-why are we blushing too, now!?
It's cause she's cute, obviously.

"Here Eldric, say aaah" -she says as she tries to spoon-fed us dessert later.

Her small hand is cupping under the spoon and she's leaning forth slightly...

Ah, this moment is bliss... our happy aura is over 8000, it's so strong it can even bounce back daggerstares!

"Aaahh.."
"Here you go."
"Hmmm."

Once we are done with dinner and leave the place... uhmm... let's go for a brief walk to digest the food.

"Let0s take a walk?"
"Where are we going?"
"Nowhere. I just want to walk with you."
"Okay."

We take her hand again, making her blush beautifully as we close our fingers around it.

School uniform Mako looks gorgeous. The uniform wasn't meant to be make girls look attractive nor sensual, but beautiful girls look best with simple clothes.

Her white uniform sweater hugs her gently, showing off her waist and chest, and her dark skirt looks shorter than it was meant to be, thanks to her ample hips and shapely buttocks holding it slightly upwards... though we suspect Mai and Ami may have actually shortened it a little...

"Ah, wait here for a bit." - we take her into a park and ask her to sit in a bench, then head over towards a flower cart and buy enough to weave her a flower crown.

Well, noone said we were good at crafts, right?

So, we spoiled most of the flowers, but in the end, we managed to attach some flowers to a hair clip so we can place it on her hair.

It is for the best. Simple accessories best suit a beautiful girls.

"Eldric?"
"Don't move."

We walk back to her from behind (didn't want to spoil the surprise) and attach the flower pin to her hair.

"..."
"there."
"What is it?" -she asks with a smile as she reaches up

"Princess, don't take it out. Here." - One of her shadows (probably Mai) shows up to hand her a mirror

"Ooh, it's so pretty." -she lits up when she smiles- "Thank you."
"It looks pretty because its on you."

Of course she blushes.
Of course we kiss her

We lean down and kiss her.
She kisses us back... how come she's fine with kissing, but gets apple red when we hold hands?

As night begins to approach, we take Mako (to her( home.

Hm, its actually way earlier in the day over here... I guess we can kiss some more, then.

"Eldric, what are you doing?" -she asks with a shy smile as we pull her close
"I'll show you."
