>Halloween Edition!

You were not but a humble maid for a fanciful estate in Almace, but alas you were cast out!

Escaping a fate most terrible, you found help along the way, starting out with barely rags on your back, to now a tenuous member of the (very) lower middle class. By the grace of God, fate, or perhaps just luck, your life has changed dramatically in the last year and may yet change still. Something which brings fear as much as anticipation.

>Last 'twas left off

Mags (you!) had a pretty busy week, including meeting a special orphaned boy, growing a giant tree, and purchasing a small plot of land just outside the city. For now though, you've got a fest to attend, and will be escorted by that charming soldier fellow from the south. He'll be by your house to pick you up in about two hours, so alongside preparing to go, is there anything in particular you want to do?

You've taken to the lute well, making strong progress for a beginner. You can already play some basic tunes consistently.

As for winter recess, this coming next week will be the last, then the month lapse in school. Most of the other students return to their families and such, including some of the staff, though the school remains open for those who cannot. Maeyal being an example, unable to travel to and from her home nation within a month.

You're really coming into your natural singing voice, as you give an awe-inspiring performance to Avor, Rafe, and eventually Alicia who hearing it from downstairs wanders up to watch and listen, eventually herself being just as impressed. She wasn't aware of such a talent you had, though Avor and Rafe leap to your defense, chastising her for such a foolish gap in knowledge.

>>777774
You can grant yourself swiftness, that's at your current magic understanding level. If you seek more than that though, it depends how you want to do it. Like increasing your reaction time or altering time flow about yourself.

As for your second request, you can create orbs of the magical substance, but you wouldn't be able to exercise control over them in the manner of telepathy, for example, since they resist lesser magic influence. Sort of like turning on a blender of water, and trying to still the motion with just a spoon.

For the rest of the time, you spend trying to come up with ideas for songs, which Avor and Rafe dance about and throw out suggestions, about topics from sailing the high seas to digging through the shell of the planet to the world beneath.

You have particulars in mind though, and make some progress in the little time till there's a hailing at the door. Avor grabs a knife as usual in case he needs to kill those outside, but you open it to find a servant-looking fellow asking for you, and down the steps by a carriage you see Mr. Ram in a less-formal attire than the fancy ball the month past. Removing his hat and holding out his arm, he asks up if you are ready to leave?
>>
>>777938
>Yes. Yes I am thank you for asking.
It's party time!
Let's not get absolutely trashed this time!
>>
>>777940
You accept to go along with him, first stopping at the academy to pick up Beatrice as well. Ever charming, Mr. Ram is polite and friendly towards Beatrice, and remarks at surely being the luckiest man in the city to spend an evening with the two finest women it has to offer.

At any rate after some initial confusion the carriage finds its way to the quarter where folks of Vela and Aea's country live and congregate. Having the servant to find a place for the carriage, Mr. Ram escorts the two of you to each arm, and the nearer you get the more certain you're in the right place as the sounds get louder.

Eventually you happen upon several streets festooned with decorations that are odd to you, and a throng of the noisiest most vibrant people you have ever seen. You can tell this isn't just some public gathering but a proper fest, and Mr. Ram wonders if the three of you are in a manner too formal, while Beatrice is quite taken aback and not used to this sort of thing.

>What do you want to do?

In the meantime though, you figure to get more along with everyone else, so do you want to try any eating or drinking? You know properly, they're to get seriously into things later, when more people have shown up.

No let's keep our liver in peak condition
And let's find Aea

Also I've realized that eventually if we mutate enough(I estimate between 25-50% phenotype)
Our lung structure and internal bone structure will change to that of a bird our heart will also probably become stronger so that we have the stamina to fly.

So our stamina should get a huge bump somewhere near in the future and our weight should drop due to hollow bones.
>>
>>779437
Bird? You mean reptile?

>78

You're of a mind to find Aea, and can probably get a good heading, but where might you want to look? What would you think her to be doing here?
>>
>>779499
Drinking contest?
>>
>>779499
No I mean bird-like bone structure.
As in hollow with strut like things inside for strength and durability and also to lower weight.
That's necessary if you want to fly me thinks.
A light but durable bone structure.
>>
>>779514
Oh sure, lighter but I wouldn't imagine hollow. Increased strength too, for the appropriate musculature.

>>779509
You look around for any drinking contests going on, but unfortunately turn up nothing. Eventually you do stumble across Aea though, having a drink yes but simply sitting and talking with some people in her own language. She acknowledges you and is glad to see you there, but otherwise seems preoccupied. You get the feeling she's enjoying spending time with people of her own culture.
>>
>>779543
Also by lungs I mean more efficient with oxygen distribution and more air capacity and such for those higher altitudes.

And btw are there water dragons?
Can our dad be one?

>Let's find a place to sit down. Maybe we can play some more.
>>
>>779558
I think we said, there wouldn't be colored dragons to this setting, rather dragons of different "race" which adapted to different environments, like humans, or dog breeds as examples. So maybe not a water dragon per se but an aquatic dragon is within the realm of possibility, maybe losing the ability to fly in favor of much better swimming potential, and rather than ongoing active breathing efficiency, the ability to hold breath for very long periods of time and withstand great pressure.

Though how something like that would have met your mother inland, is questionable.

Anyway you find a place to sit, an available table for the three of you, with Vela eventually coming to join you and bigging up the fest later, but asking you how you're finding things for now and saying to hold off on any serious eating or drinking till the proper feast.

Beatrice wonders if you all mightn't get some gambling game going, maybe finding some cards or dice or something? Mr. Ram volunteers to do just that if you care to.
>>
>>779610
>Gambling
Oh yes let's do this.
We have a great advantage
>>
>>779620
Alright back to my computer.

So you figure some moneyed gaming sounds in order. Have you any preference though? Cards? Dice? Whatever Mr. Ram can find?

Obviously you're going to better in some than others.

>>
>>780065

Dice is too chance.

Also how long could we hold our breath?

And how deep would we go?

>>
Rolled 89 (1d100)

>>780076
>>780085
Cards it is then, Mr. Ram leaves the three of you for a bit, before returning with some cards he managed to find and borrow.

While discussing what game to play, he suggests one from his home country, which attracts the attention of some other folks among the fest, who join you in seating at first, then pull up another table or two as more gather.

Mr. Ram explains the rules which garners everyone's interest, and he starts to pass out the cards.

>Do you care to put in any money to prompt actual gambling?

Either way, go ahead and roll for success.
>>
>>780085
As for holding your breath, you mean currently? Probably not much longer than an average person, since you can't even swim.

If you became a full, normal dragon? You could probably hold your breath for 10 minutes untrained, and could go down maybe a hundred feet. An actual aquatic dragon though, yeah could hold breath as long as a whale at least, and probably go deeper still.

With magic though, things can go different of course.

You can keep playing for as many games as you like though, if you want to go more. Currently you're at a small loss than when you started.

>90, 1, 83

It's quite a mixed bag, the first game you do really well, the second game you lose literally all your money, the third game you do well again and make some back. After the four games you're more or less about even with what you started. The person who does the best overall is actually Beatrice, who you find is really good at card games and gambling in general you'd guess.

Over the course of the games though interestingly, some gossip and talk among the players stirs around, and word gets out that you're the person that drunk Aea and Vela under the table. The thought of that, an Almese girl beating two grown women from ___? A lot of people show interest in seeing such a feat again, and surely they'd do better and beat you.

At any rate though, a comically off-tune trumpet is blown by a fellow wandering about, letting people know that the feast proper will begin soon. Not everyone is looking to attend, some preferring just to drink or continue playing street games, but the main event is going on in a big square if you want to go
>>
>>780645
To the main square then.
Let's do this shit.
>>
>>780645
Is the main event the tug of war btw?
Or is it something else?
>>
>>780723
The main event is the feast, the tug of war is the big communal game after everyone's eaten and drunk.

Anyway, you head to the main square and find a place to sit as a group. It takes awhile for a sufficient amount of people to gather, but before long the food is being put out with actual wheelbarrows. It's a surprising amount, but you learn that it's mostly paid for by the local dignitary from the home country, residing here in the Almese capital.

Some speeches are given commemorating the event, but people already begin eating, so you're free to do so as well. While you chow down you're free to talk, and Beatrice is curious how you met Mr. Ram, and Vela wonders if you've heard about what's gone on with David since you beat him in the magic duel?
>>
>>780781
Tell Beatrice about the competition and hear what Vela has to say

Oh boy
>>
>>780781
>What happened to David
No but now I'm intrigued
>And tell Beatrice about the animal mask competition and how that went down
>>
>>780788
>>780790
You talk about how you met over the mask game at the fancy event a month prior. You do a decent job, but Mr. Ram offers to pick up with the story telling, and as you know him to be good at it, he captures their interest and amazement over his embellishment of the event.

You also ask about David, apparently the word is that there was a shakeup and his usual cronies turned against him when he stopped them from trying to ambush and assault you for various reasons. Now he's not the most popular or the most proclaimed among the boy's side of the school.
>>
>>780799

>>
>>780799
Holy Shit
We need to talk to him

>>
>>780808
Vela doesn't know about any of that, she's just telling you what she heard.

>>780825
As you do, and continue eating. Unless there's anything you had in mind, or wanted to talk about you can carry on till you're done.
>>
>>780829
Ask Vela if she's heard the rumors about important people coming because we apparently did something important with our aether shit. Ask if it sounds legit.

I'm somewhat worried about it.
>>
>>780839
Vela hasn't a clue about that, but Beatrice seems to know all about it, having chatted up staff. From what she knows, at least two persons from abroad have expressed interest and requested permission to travel to the academy, while the royal mage has spoken of interest. Oddly, the royal gamekeeper has expressed worry about you, but nothing important yet.
>>
>>780857
>Thanks Beatrice. Vela you said aether was harmful to everyone and that was one of the reasons people don't use it. But I'm pretty sure you implied multiple reasons. Care to tell me what they are.

I gotta love the fact we were mostly getting the aura cause it sounded useful and we might of accidentally made a discovery that's value is yet to be known to us
>>
>>780868
You ask her directly, but both she and Beatrice are surprised you're not aware. Aether is the province of the gods, it's almost unheard of anyone even dabbling with it, and it's considered blasphemous by many. A large factor in this being that it is often thought of as a cursed substance, since the gods will oft smite those in divine fury for their hubris, and perhaps worse still it makes one shine with the light of the gods which can alert things which would seek to prey upon them but normally couldn't because of their divine might.

Like a sweet shop beset upon by hungry fat children, but the rest of the sweets are behind glass, and the owner actually cares to protect those ones. Your case would be like a table outside with the sign "Free sample!"

Hearing you want to test your mettle again, Vela goes around trying to interest people in a drinking contest. It gets some interest particularly when she says you beat both her and Aea, but for the most part people just want to celebrate the fest in their own way and also don't want to get too drunk to miss out on the tug of war.

So returning with some people, Vela orchestrates an effort to get a drinking contest going, and some tables are pulled together. Mr. Ram won't be competing, so accepts the job (along with some others) of bringing drinks to everyone participating.

Notably because of the manner of the drinks themselves, strength won't increase by round, it'll be the same decently strong ale all the way through. Knowing that, first round go! The prize this time isn't money, but prestige.

>A small point of interest but in her drumming up support, Vela unknowingly happened to draw the attention of Fera who comes over and is surprised to find you here, though not surprised to find you drinking again. Like Mr. Ram she offers to help keep the drinks coming.

Oh well, such is life.

---

You awaken some time later feeling groggy, but not too miserable since by volume you didn't drink all that much and are used to much worse. Beatrice is there with you, still passed out after only having made it to round three. Mr. Ram is busy playing some sort of word game with the armored fellow, something about patterns of words in three (usually) short phrases. At that moment, something about a fus, a ro, and a dah.

When they notice you awake, the armored fellow says you shouldn't call people milk drinkers when you are yourself, clearly one. After that he takes his leave, mentioning something about climbing a mountain and being a stealth archer.

Mr. Ram meanwhile asks if you're ok?

You don't have your lute with you but you can find one easily enough. Some initial getting used to the different instrument, but before long you're playing quite astoundingly for your level. Mr. Ram is impressed, and some people happen around to listen while celebrating.

It's a nice way to settle things down for the evening, as night falls, and you get people complimenting and applauding you. A couple guys even express interest at wanting to get to know you better, not aware in that moment that you're accompanied by Mr. Ram.
>>
>>782122
Politely decline their offers and keep mi mingling with our friends
>>
>>782146
You decline any advances and continue to while away the evening with your friends, eventually Beatrice waking up again and Vela finding her way back over. You have a nice time continuing to play for fun and converse with them, glad you came along to the event.

By the time things start to wind down from a proper celebration to loose groups of drunken people singing and getting along, it's properly night time now. Mr. Ram figures it best to escort you back home, certainly Beatrice at least in her state, if you had something in mind or wanted to do something else though you could.

Alright then you accept for Mr. Ram to escort you home, dropping off Beatrice first at the academy and then to your house. He says he appreciates your inviting him and allowing him to have a good time with you and your friends, and kisses your hand and bids you goodnight.

It's not that late so Julien isn't home, just Alicia, Rafe and Avor. The latter two jump all around you asking what happened and how your time was. You oblige them with some stories as you get ready for bed, then turn in for an earlier night than usual.

---

You awake early the next day to the usual house routine of Julien making breakfast for everyone. The others are still asleep though, for now.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>783203
Let's chat with Julien.
And pay attention to his emotions and such with our senses while we do because we can.
>>
>>783215
You talk with Julien while he prepares breakfast. He asks about how your night was, and what you plan on doing for the coming recess in classes? He also talks about some of the work he's been doing, in organizing the different documents you have relating to your finances, and always keeping a look out on the economic climate.

All the while you use your senses on him. He seems relatively comfortable. He's putting on a bit of a front, to cover up some nervousness towards you, but you could chalk that up to him not being totally comfortable around or talking to women. And in your case, at times you've known he at least finds you attractive, if not having feelings for you.

Fair point but there are people around you, who are interested in you now. And Mags might do well to have someone to feel that way about, and share a connection with. Doesn't have to be Fera of course, but things have been a little lonely for her since being cast out. Her self-esteem has definitely seen better days, especially considering her slow change to a giant lizard monster.

>>783293
>Plus I'd rather it with someone that went constitute a crime.

You're harboring a highly wanted criminal in your basement. To be fair, considering Fera has avoided punishment, you'd guess she's good at hiding her proclivity, or being careful about it at least.
>>
>>783508
If we were to be caught with Fera/Alicia, would the authorities be willing to look the other way bcuz we helped the city by killing a Vampire?
>>
>>783268
Anyway, you answer him, though he's a little confused. It seems he's not entirely aware of your magic tree activity, though he wasn't there for it so that makes sense.

Changing the subject, you say his name to get him to focus on you, and asking direct if there are women he's fond of. He says there's a delivery girl who he's become friends with, but in general not much luck in the way of romance. He admits it's been hard since the women in the city are so much different from the countryside, whom he are used to and from whence he hails.

He's pretty cool about the response and doesn't stagger over himself as Charles might the same question, but you can sense he's withholding the truth and some feelings.

Alicia, probably not, she's just that dangerous. Fera though, as said before, you couldn't expect much. For women punishments are almost always less severe but still not easy, you could expect a public humiliation and forced to publicly recant, as well as an enforced marrying to "put you straight" so to speak, if it were a normal lesbian couple in the most guilty circumstances, actually caught in the act. Maybe an accusation of witchcraft or violating church law depending on other factors. For a normal couple of that sort, in your case however they'd probably look the other way depending on who caught you. If it became egregious though, eventually it would catch up with you. The main factor overall is the difference in the nature of the gay relationship between genders, and the legal stance on the matter.

>>783526
You call Julien out on his truth keeping, but while he admits you're right, he says he doesn't want to say because it's embarrassing and would just complicate things needlessly.

Something like that wouldn't exactly be possible since aether cannot propagate itself. You can try to make it imitate fire in form, but it's not like you could set it to blaze and it would spread and burn down a building or catch fire to materials and whatnot.

>I already know any feelings or emotions

You rather bluntly shove that in his face, and he gives a defeated sigh in response. He admits what you already know then, that he finds you attractive and has had feelings for you for awhile. He's realistic about it though, and doesn't let it get the better of him. He knows there could never be anything between you, so he suppresses it surprisingly well, associating it with devotion/service to you rather than actual love.

He comes to say that he actually doesn't feel any better for admitting that and wishes he hadn't, wanting to change the subject till breakfast is served so he can take his leave.

>>

>>
>>783635
He already knows all that about you, he's known for a good while now.

>>783631
That's more possible, maybe something like aether-imbued fire. Rather than the pure substance burning, a resultant flame bearing the color of it.

As for why it would be impossible, because of the difference between you two. He's just a peasant who works for you, little better than a servant. You're set to do bigger and better things with your life, it wouldn't be appropriate for you to limit yourself to him, when you could marry say, a noble.

And before you can say anything, he knows you're literally a peasant as well, but he knows you're smart enough to understand that you're not just a peasant. Your destiny isn't confined by that.

You happen to sense though that there is still some secret he is holding, but this one seems to cause him pain by dwelling on it, and so he will not admit it even if you call him on it. At least not in this current situation.
>>
>>783681
>Hmm. Okay but there's still one thing bothering you. But I know it's important so I won't press you on it. Yet. So anyways is breakfast almost done?
>>
>>783705
Relieved at you changing the subject back, he promptly serves up the food, knocks a pot to let the short ones upstairs know, then takes his leave, bidding you well as he goes to his work day.

Alicia also joins you, surprisingly not in her suit. She takes care not to sit near Rafe, but you must be up a lot earlier than you're used to for her to still be in her sleeping clothes. She asks how your night was, and that she's going to be cleaning out some rats from her old hideout tonight, so don't worry if she's gone.

>What do you want to do?

You plant the seed and cast the growth spell upon it. It seems to go normally at first, till you start to feel magical energy surging from the environment through you and into the seed. The gain of power enlivens you like you're not used to, as you feel a connection to other plants in the area. Your heart hammers in your chest, and everything flashes a blinding green before you get the smell of hewn plant matter, and pass out.

---

You awaken some time later to a number of the ratlings milling about, some meddling with getting water or foodstuffs, others climbing on you and trying to see if you're alive and well, all of them bickering.

You shriek at first which is met in kind, as they fall or scurry off of you, before asking if you're alright? You were having seizures when they found you in the yard, and brought you inside thinking you ill.
>>
>>783887
Get up and check outside now.
We literally just FELT nature
There is very little chance everything else is normal
>>
>>783896
You go outside to find a lush overgrowth of the entire yard, and beyond it outside even. Any and all plant life sprung to vibrance and grew to tremendous size, with even blades of grass the size of short swords. The workers who are supposed to be clearing the place are quite visibly annoyed and some even wanting to seek a priest, given that things are even more overgrown than when they started. All of this is all the more strange given that it's wintertime now and all the trees elsewhere are bare, and the other plant life in decline.

Pushing your way through the verdant greenery, you eventually come to what you're looking for and are... quite disappointed. The apple tree is grown to full, but completely normal size. The only detail out of the ordinary, is that it's leaves are still on the branches and green.
>>
>>783938
Grab an apple and dig in
Hopefully it's magically enhanced
>>
>>783938
Use our eyesight to look for any latent magic energy in the greenery or such.
And the apple tree too.

And did we pay the workers before hand?

The greenery is magical, but no more so than any other plant you happen to embiggen. The tree is similarly the case, which is further disappointing since it didn't even grow huge like the other plants. To be fair though this was from a seedling.

>>
>>784006
Stay and rest a while then let's do this
>>784010
>>
I too gotta sleep op
Cya
>>
>>784010
So you head back to the academy looking for someone to talk to. You find Nera and tell her what happened, which she accompanies you to a teacher who could help. You explain the situation to them, which although they are quite intrigued, they say you might have gone and created a familiar or something like that. It's not an uncommon thing in magic, though he is quite surprised you did so with a common growth spell. That is rater odd, but unless the tree jumps up and starts walking around and talking, it would be within the realm of possibility to react to you.

Strange though that normally such things are reserved for a nature mage.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>784412
>Well strange
Yes it is
If we didn't mention that we felt a connection to the other plants in the area and that the power from the environment flowing through us and into the seed was how this happened we should mention it.

Also
>We made a familiar
That's cool.
Ask them what familiars are for as well.
>>
>>784426
You describe the experience that happened when you cast the spell as well, again all those details sound more in line with a nature mage. It might be that you crossed the boundary between the magics a little.

You ask about a familiar, he says that works as a blanket term for basically a magical servant. Most often it tends to mean some animal or creature bonded to you, sometimes by a contract. However, it can also apply to created beings to fill the same role. In actuality familiar wouldn't be the proper term for this, but it's a commonly associated and simple use which works.

The teacher does caution though that the tree should probably be brought here to the school, for various reasons relating to performing magic outside the grounds.
>>
>>784435
>You wouldn't mind me asking but how would I move a adult tree?
>Do I just will it to shrink down or what?
Like seriously how we move our familiar?
>>
>>784436
He says some of the staff or senior students could move it, if you're willing to show them. Too hard for you or a moving team without a good deal of effort, but they could handle it probably.
>>
>>784443
Oh okay then we can do that.
Also ask how it's even possible to cross the boundaries between the magics.

To our knowledge we have no ability in nature magic
>>
>>784446
You agree to take them along and get their help moving it. He says you'll have to wait till tomorrow though when classes are back on, after school they'll make it a priority.

As for crossing magic, he says it's not terribly uncommon. The growth spell itself, which most anyone at the school can do, is a crossing of magic since normally growth and plant shaping is nature magic, but in this case you're using aetherial magic to charge the plant into growing.

Kind of like trying to cut down a tree, admittedly a poor analogy given this situation, but one person might use an axe, while another would use a saw. Both are very different tools for different things, but in this case can accomplish the same goal.
>>
>>784461
Okay I get it.
How many familiars can a mage get?
And is having one common?
And how would you make a creature a familiar
>>
>>784473
In theory a person could have as many familiars as they want, or rather, as many as they are magically capable of handling. For both living and nonliving beings there are understandable limits. For living beings, there's only so many you'd be able to tolerate (like having a cat as a familiar, but having a hundred cats would just be too many to handle) while for nonliving beings it would depend on your magic power.

Having them are quite common, you yourself know several people of the academy to have them. Like having a pet or servant, when you're able to maintain one with your magic, eventually it's just something most people with magic tend to do.

Making a creature a familiar can go different ways. If the creature is not sapient, then it's usually a matter of performing a ritual on it, or something like charming it. If the creature is sapient, then you could do the same but the most often sought ends are through a contract. Sometimes this is thought of as unethical though, like if you sign a commoner (human, dwarf, gobbo, etc) into a magic contract then you can force them to do what you want and render them a slave. It's a favorite tactic of witches for example, to trick someone into servitude with a contract, or warlocks into spy service.

With magic creatures though or entities inherently hostile, like an elemental or a demon, ethically it's considered alright for obvious reasons. Well except in the latter case, where it might ethically be alright, but still highly heretical.
>>
>>784490
So non-living ones are an active drain on your magic power or something like that?
Or is it like adding connections and the more you add the harder it gets to add even more?
So thanks or that information.

Yeah let's search for books on familiar rituals.
Let's get a cat familiar
>>
>>784498
Cats are fucking gay my dude.

Also the nonliving ones, it can depend. Usually it's because they're animated for a certain amount of time, or in proximity to the person, and eventually the time will run out or they have to remain close. Properly animating them takes magic power, so doing a number of them can become rather draining on the person.

It's either that or a falcon.
I'm pretty sure some people get them for hunting.

Anyways rolling to find the ritual for making a familiar.

So OP did we animate the tree or no?
>>

You don't find anything of the sort that you're looking for.

As for animating the tree, you don't know.

Either way you've got the rest of the day ahead of you, what do you want to do?
>>
Rolled 68 (1d100)

>>784565
Well shit.
How many more days till the ceremony where we'll be get our reward?

Also let's ask a teacher about the ritual for turning an animal into a familiar.
Maybe we should just get a cat and a falcon.

And let's get that dragon interview book we have.
(Rolling for getting info from teachers)
>>
>>784575
>68

You ask around and find the appropriate teacher, and she explains roughly how the process works. She also gives you a book on it, a basic guide of the process.

You're also able to get the interview book just fine, having known where it is.

As for the ceremony, it's at the end of this coming week, so about 6 days.
>>
>>784583
Let's head to the dragoness.
She's obviously the one getting interviewed
>>
>>784585
You go over there, getting Julien to escort you in, however this time the guards say it's unnecessary if you mind, you come here often enough that they recognize you and are familiar with the arrangement going on. Julien is a little disappointed at the news of not being needed to go to the menagerie as often, it's always a fun trip.

Anyway, after the usual procedure you find your way into the old armory where the dragoness is snuggled up like a bug in a rug and comments about it getting colder out so she won't be going outside anymore.
>>
>>784599
>Getting colder.

>Oh yes it has been. I think I've found a book it's an interview of a dragon I think it might be you. You interested in reading this with me?
>>
>>784610
She's a little surprised but says sure why not. You'll probably have to read it to her though since without her lens she can't read small books. When you describe some of it, she quickly remembers the event in question, and again is surprised how old the book must be.

So how do you want to go through it, just stand and read it out?
>>
>>784618
Yeah let's start reading it aloud.
Hearing not only her responses but the priests thoughts should be interesting
>>
>>784625
You take to reading it, but before long with her interaction, it comes to feel more like a play rather than a recital, as you come to fill the part of the interviewer and she responds in trying to remember what she said. Her memory is pretty good though occasionally you correct her, but it ends up being pretty fun and funny.

The general sentiment is the interviewer being deathly afraid of her, the church interpreter trying to get her to admit to heresy or find some reason to have her killed, a lord present intrigued and curious how she can serve the realm, and all the while her trying and failing not to be her usual arrogant self.

As you go through, she starts to wonder if maybe the details of the interviews, are responsible for why she was stuck in this place to begin with. She also wonders why you picked this out, what curiosity possessed you.
>>
>>784656
>What curiosity possessed us
We were looking for books related to dragons and found this among others. After learning about what this book was about we just had to.
>If the details of the interview are why She's stuck here.

Maybe. It's a distinct possibility. It's what I'd assume at least.
>>
>>783508
Dat first quote is why i think Fera's the best option here, she said she would like us even if we changed right?
Julien's a close second but he's right, we're too good/unorthodox to settle for him

Well, at least thats how i see it
>>
>>784873
Then aren't we too good to settle for Fera?
I wouldn't say she is much better then Julien.

be honest you just want /u/ shit
>>
>>784873
Obviously the best choice is Maggy's childhood crush.

>>785036
Well Julien is looking at it in the traditional sense, of getting married, settling down and having a family, so thinks himself to be below your post. Fera knows such a thing is impossible though, so is content for just a relationship for as long as you're together, rather than some serious lifelong commitment.

>>784665
She wonders why you need books on that subject when you can just look at yourself. Seems like a waste of time.

It does disappoint her a little though, considering now her current state due likely in part to some original bargain and first impression. She fancies herself that she might have made a decent gamekeeper or royal pet.
>>
>>785143
That would at least be an interesting sight.
Oh we should tell her we made a tree familiar accidentally.
Has she ever had a familiar
>Maggie's childhood crush
Depends.
Do they want to adventure and learn how to fight?
With no discrimination to hybrids?
If so they sound decent enough
>>
>>785174
That sounds rather interesting with the tree, she'd like to see it.

As for familiar, no she's never had one she just imposed her will on beings. She's not versed in magic really so a proper familiar has never been available to her.

As for crush, no you dingus he doesn't want to adventure and fight, he wants to settle down and farm crops which is what Mags also wants.

What time is it OP.
>>
>>785239

It's afternoon, like 3-ish.
>>
>>785265
How long were we reading that interview for?
We should ask if she ever met a dragon while she was traveling
>>
>>785293
Eh around an hour. It's not just one interview but a series of sessions over the course of a week where they evaluated her cooperation.

She says most certainly, she's met plenty of dragons before, dragon friends, dragon partners, dragon enemies... not so much anymore though, since Garlan's meddling. You're the only other in a long time. She supposes people would prefer it that way though, hence why she can imagine the crown and such would be against keeping you together if you started to change more.
>>
>>785306
Oh well.
Well let's bid farewell(and hug her cause we always do)
And say we'll see her again soon.
>>
>>785344
You bid her farewell for now and figure to leave the book for next time. You hug her again, and feel her large hands around you, as she thanks you and you can feel she enjoyed this time together, as she does whenever you don't come asking for favors. Saying you'll see her again soon with her response that she'll be waiting, as always.

She does give a parting recommendation to get your fire breath going before the snow hits.

>What now?
>>

Say out loud
>I wish I had an apple.
And hope for apples.
I wonder just how much it can react to us.

>>

Getting back home, you make a space in your room, inscribe the glyph on the ground, and perform the ritual. It goes off as planned, and you get an unfamiliar feeling as an empathic bond forms with the cat. You can't exercise control over it you don't think, but you can get an idea of where it is, feel what it is feeling, and sense what it senses. And it tends to do your bidding to an extent.

Before long it's time for dinner though with the rest of the women, as Nera calls everyone to the dining room.
>>
>>786185
Let's go to dinner then.
Our cat can follow us if he feels like it
>>
>>786193
You attend dinner and prayers as led by Nera, with most of the other girls there. Over the course of the meal, you hear a lot of gossip about a giant tree that sprung up outside the city and is being cut down, as well as an old mill where the plantlife around it exploded in size and life. There's also some whispers about having nightmares.

Afterward, it's a couple hours till lights out and you can make use of the common room, or do whatever you want really.
>>
>>786212

I mean we liked that tree. It was a had a good view
>>
>>786248
You speak up on the matters of the tree and the the mill, which gets a lot of attention, from amazement to disbelief, and Nera has to quiet things down. Eventually after dinner she pulls you aside and says you shouldn't be doing that, making a big deal of things and drawing attention to yourself, especially when you know you're not supposed to be performing magic beyond the walls. She worries now that the other girls know, word could spread and the trouble will come back around to you.
>>
>>786282
>Your not supposed to cast magic outside the walls
This doesn't include when we're getting attacked by bandits right?
Or running from gypsies right?
>>
>>786303
She tells you not to sass her, she knows you're smarter than to try and press that case, it's stupidly obviously self defense versus unnecessary and unwanted outside attention. It's one thing to want to practice magic and to go outside the school to do so, but it's quite another thing to paint your name all over it and scream it from the rooftops.
>>
>>786325
To be honest with the mill we hang around there frequently and we own the plot so anyone with any sense would probably be able to figure it out.

Ok so about two hours later of studying and whatnot, you head to bed. Your progress on the book continues fairly well, maybe by the end of the next school session block, in the spring, you'll have the hang of it.

The sun will be down in a couple hours, so you have time to do anything you want to, before heading out to handle the main issue. Your suit is ready, the potions you've been making are ready, you are ready. Maybe nice to get a little distraction before the main event.

You stay in for an early dinner with Avor. You're getting kind of used to the little fellow, since he's often downstairs trying out his boat while you work away at potions. He knows you've been preparing for something and is curious, wondering if you need help. He'll have you know, that he's a mighty fighter!

They don't want you forming whatever sort of situation you have with the dragoness, with other inhabitants. They're leery of you spending so much time like that. Not just because of the interaction issues either, it would hurt traffic of visitors when they go to see the mermaid and there's some random human woman in there. The only reason they allow it with the dragoness is she has the armory as a room for privacy.

>>791030
So you go by ground, and eventually come to the alleyway that slopes down and provides the path beneath the streets. As you approach though and before you can enter, you're stopped by a fellow who's probably acting guard, and asks what you want and says you should leave, they're not interested in... whatever it is you want, as he looks over your strange suit attire.

>>791180
If you can imagine it, Alicia can make a potion or elixir for it.

As for what she has prepared, yeah she's got her usual noxious gas bombs, utter darkness bombs, stone touch potions, shardfluid bombs, sheer force bombs, a few pyroclasm bombs, and a bunch of common explosive ones.
>>
>>791238
Man, those potions sound cool as fuck

Well I wasn't sure if Alicia was trying to maybe put her criminal past behind her.

As for flammable gas, you can chuck a gas bomb and then ignite it, but pyroclasm is basically the same thing, a burning smoke toxic tornado acid cloud.
>>
>>791297
>Her criminal past behind her
Yes we are.
But uhh. They're criminals.
Anyways I guess just drop a gas bomb and ignite it.
Gotta save the good potions for later
>>
>>791307
Well they're like a gang sure, but it's not like entirely all just bloodthirsty killers, there's some young men too who are probably newbies, and even a couple floosies who like the attention and gifts given.
>>
>>791341
Fine drop some noxious gas on them.
We'll give them a chance to live.
>>
>>791353
Well you can totally kill them all, and Alicia would have no qualms about it (as is, so far no efforts have been made to be less criminalistic), I was just clarifying that it's not just a bunch of burly murderer men. Some of them are for sure, but it's a city gang so there's a pretty even mix.
>>
>>791360
Well drop some knockout or noxious gas.

So yeah you prime another two bombs, and wait in ambush for anyone to come looking. As expected, two guys come out and you smash the bombs together in your hands, and direct the mixed contents outwards at them sort of like a cone, or a kamehameha. Caught off guard, they quickly succumb.

Listening any more, you hear some more commotion, but no one comes out even as you wait for a little while.
>>

>>
>>791456
Keep hidden for a few more minutes, make sure no one's coming
Then
>>791465

After that let's head for the stash
>>
>>791465
You can look around for rope, but you're not that good with rope in general, honestly easier to just turn them to stone. If that's too drastic for your tastes, you could also pour some actual longterm sleeping potion down their throats, or whip up some potion on the fly like melding the stone floor around their feet or hands to seal them in place.
>>
>>791471
Okay let's start pouring long-term sleeping potions down their throats
>>
>>791474
Sure thing, those who aren't stone, you roll them over if you have to then upend the contents of some bottles in their mouths. That will make them sleep like the dead for at least 6 hours, such that you could set fire to/burn them to death and they wouldn't feel it or wake up.

After you manage to do this with them though, you hear a scream when you see form the area you heard commotion, another girl wandered out to see what's up and witnesses the fearsome sight before her.
>>
>>791478
>And what might a some girl be doing wandering in an area filled with criminals and gang members?
>>
>>791483
Is that you talking? She's from the back area the two guys came from earlier so it's not like she wandered down here off the street, probably been here awhile like the other girls.

Well either way if you try talking to her, your mask makes you rather hard to understand. She panicks and runs back into the room she came from.
>>
>>791498
>Follow her.
Also let's adjust our mask so it doesn't obstruct our mouth.
>>
>>791502
This is a full face mask (basically a rudimentary 16th century attempt at a gas mask) so you can't really adjust it that well like that. You can take it off a bit and hold it before your face though so you can talk, and not scare her with your face.

Anyway you follow her to a emptied out chamber where a crude little lounge is set up, and you see her cowering with another girl. When they see you enter the room, they panick and huddle to a corner pleading for mercy.
>>
>>791514
>What are you even doing here?
>And calm down most of those people back there are asleep. They'll live
>>
>>791517
Your voice is pretty messed up, but by talking to them you're able to reduce their panic a little, and perhaps they can even tell you're a lady too.

You ask them what's the deal, one of the girls shakily responds that they're friends with the guys here, they spend time with them. The other girl half-sadly half-angrily speaks up when you say the others are alright, asking about the ones turned to stone?
>>
>>791524
I assume we can't turn the stone guys back?
So
>Yeah no they're pretty dead.
>>
>>791534
No you can definitely turn them back if you want, and you're fast about it. The longer they remain stone, the more their mind starts to slip, and slowly, eventually they will die, but it would take awhile. They're only dead if you want them to be.
>>
>>791546
Oh okay tell them we can turn them back if we don't just leave them like that for too long.
>>
>>791546
And let's head to the stash in our hideout.
We finally have breathing room
>>
>>791549
You tell/explain it to them, but it doesn't do much to quiet their worries. They plead you not to do the same to them. They don't pose a thread you suppose, but at the same time they recognize and can describe you. Maybe not you as in Alicia, but your outfit which is pretty distinct. Plus the feats of your alchemy, are bound to draw attention if word gets out. You imagine Nikolai at least, if he were to hear, would have a vested interest to have the authorities after you, were it known you were back in the capital. Choices choices.

>>791594
Either way you head to your old stash room. Along the way there's another emptied chamber that looks like a communal lodging room, and peeking in you see another two girls asleep in beds.

Finally you reach the concrete slab to find it largely damaged. It looks like someone(s) has been hacking, picking, and smashing away at it to get through. To some extent they succeeded, such that sort of a concave conical portion has been destroyed as they tried to get through to the room, and at the center a small bored hole all the way through about the width of a large arm, certainly enough to see through to the chamber within. You guess at some point someone made the hole through to see what's on the other side, did so and liked what they saw, and have been digging away at it since.

>So how do you want to go about this? You're able to simply dissolve the concrete, but time is probably not on your side as the rest of the gang could return.

You happen to notice the two awake girls, assuming you didn't deal with them, peeking out from the chamber they were in, to see what you're doing.
>>
>>791657
Do we know of a potion that can make them forget the events of a few minutes ago?
>>
>>791663
Memory potions are finicky. If you'd wanted to do that, you'd have chucked a potion for it to start things with, basically a roofie bomb which would be like "For the next X amount of time, the targets won't remember anything"

Trying to it after the fact, after the memories have been made, that's more a magic skill or spell, not an alchemy one. Unless like, you want to damage their memory, but it's risky obviously.
>>
>>791725
Lets leave them be and focus on getting whatever is inside the stash

We can ask Julien for another suit to replace this one, maybe add some patterns to it or have it made of a different color

You mix up the right solvent for the concrete and cover it, occasionally covering it again when you need to. The process will take time though, maybe up to an hour so you have time to burn, and worrisome that others of the gang might come back.

>>792398
He's the best alchemist in Almace, who figured out how to turn stuff to gold, and created an elixir of life.
>>
>>792533
Also I've been thinking of dragons that found their niche in being migratory and flying high as hell.
So being lighter then dragons by a great margin and being noticeably smaller along with a much greater wingspan and a much more lungs for distribution of oxygen into the blood stream.

And I'm thinking maybe they can break into the stratosphere if not the mesosphere.

And if the girls are still there tell them to get over here right now.
>>
>>792533
Why is he interested in us? Is he afraid we'll replace him or does he know we're a werewolf ?
>>
>>792553
That sounds pretty interesting. If there's an precedent for it in legends or mythology then it's possible.

They're still there sort of cowering and hoping you don't turn them to stone, while waiting for the rest of the gang to get back and deal with you. You tell them to get over here and fearfully they do so, you can do the same with the sleeping girls, waking them up and going through the same process with the first two about them understanding the situation, panicking, and doing as you say out of fear.

So while you wait for the slab to dissolve, the four ladies huddle together nearby, watching you fearfully and whispering among themselves, while they occasionally try to plead with you to stop while you're ahead and just surrender, or to not hurt them.

>>792606
He's interested in you because you accidentally killed his predecessor, and because you're trying to replace (kill if you have to) him, and have been for several years. Also because in the same way that he is gifted in alchemy in ways you aren't, you are gifted in ways he isn't, with your ability to make potions in an unimagineably short amount of time, certainly the fasted on the continent if not in the world.
>>
>>792650
Tell them we're not going to hurt them, we don't a reason to

And ask if they can help with dissolving the wall
>>
>>792721
They're relieved to hear you're not going to hurt them, but they still urge you to surrender. If you release the other people and give up, they might go easy on you. Especially if they see you can get past the slab.

And no, they definitely can't help you, it's you just waiting for the dissolving process as the concrete slowly but surely melts away.
>>
>>792741
Why would we surrender?
Also we won't kill them as long as they never tell anyone about us.
>>
>>792786
It might not be logical to surrender but that's just what they're urging you to do. They probably have some loyalty to the gang so while they can't try and subdue you, they can try to maybe talk you out of what you're doing.

You say you'll let them live if they keep quiet about you. They say they will, but you can't really be sure. You know the others you took out in the main area who saw you, probably won't keep quiet.

Either way the slab is almost away, but you hear commotion of someone or ones coming down the passage. What do you want to do?

You struggle against the other women and try and fight them off. You succeed in kicking one off at first, but she quickly runs and grabs a chair and then comes back to shove it on your chest and jump on it to hold you down.

Getting pretty desperate, you reach for whatever potion you can grab, and smash it prime it to go off. Shortly after there's a loud bang as the liquid contents splash everywhere, and your heart skips a beat in dread as you know this is going to hurt.

The shardfluid coats everything around and as it cools, solidifies into sharp spikes, stabbing into whatever it coats. Against something hard like stone it's not that useful, but against flesh? You brace yourself as you feel the solidifying liquid pierce your body all over through the clothes. THe same is true for anyone else though, and you soon hear cries of pain and screaming from the ladies as they suffer the same effect and fall back from you, struggling to try and remove the spiking substance and only further injuring themselves as the spikes also protrude outwards.

You're suffering just as much, but your pain threshold is higher (and dulled from nerve damage) so you can still sort of operate. You've probably got enough time for one action before the incoming people reach you.

They wait outside it and ready to fight, till it dissipates.

That's fine you just needed to not do shitty. You pull the pyroclasm bomb from your bandolier and prime it, the underhand hurl it towards them and run into one of the rooms. Even out of the way there, you witness the flash and the sound, as a firestorm envelops the next room. You don't even hear the screaming over the howl of the wind and the roar of the fire.

A couple minutes later and you come back out to see just some charred remains, and a large portion of the room scorched black and eroded away. Not much later still, and the concrete block finally crumbles away leaving the way to the chamber open.

>>793711
You enter the chamber, it's roughly as you remember. An old bed, some clothes, keepsakes from your old life and family, and what you're really after, your old alchemical supplies and equipment. After you tussled with Mags the first time you met and transformed into the wolf, you lost all your equipment there, so this will be a great replacement. Some of the stuff is kind of old and nasty, like the clothes, but you didn't come here for those.

There's also other stuff like a locked chest with a good deal of money and loot, the writings and notes of your late master alchemist, and some sort of strange lockbox you found in his possession before leaving.

What do you want to take? You can't get everything in one go.

>>794226
And uh... yeah, under the bed are some smutty books. You can't have a physical relationship with anyone, so you have to take care of your own... needs, in that regard.
>>

Nah you can't take everything in one go, if you wanted everything of value it would take three trips probably, unless you did something you obviously are not going to risk trying, shifting for the increased strength.

So you'll have to choose what to take and risk the rest being found if the others in the gang return while you're out.

You can manage to get two things each time, so you gather together all the notes and writings, and the alchemical equipment. Lugging it out of the room, you make your way back to the common area and then the passage leading out of the catacombs and back to the surface.

It's kind of difficult carrying everything, but you manage to head out by way of the waterfront, and climb back up to the street level. Where do you want to go now, to leave all this stuff? Keep in mind you're not aware of when the other gang members could return.

Yeah you wander around in a hurry kicking things, and find a broken open, discarded crate around the back of a tannery. It's not optimal, but if you're quick about it, and a little obscuring work like dragging a tarp over it, it can probably keep your stuff hidden for long enough to get the rest out of the lair.

Stashing it here for now, you go back down, still no sign of trouble. What do you want to grab this trip?

Not knowing what that potion is should be even scarier.

Well they're obviously not versed in alchemy. All they know is you just grabbed out some bottle, if it weren't for the outfit you'd have passed for an angry drunk with that action.

Anyway, you get the locket and leave. You were angry before but that quickly subsides as you hold it, and memories come back. Not just of your daughter but the locket itself, and how it was given to you by your grandmother and so on and so forth. Apparently it was gotten from the east by a male ancestor in the wars of religion centuries past. Yours was never a wealthy family so actual jewelry, even just metal, is a precious thing indeed.

Anyway, where to now?

For now though you settle to tending your wounds.

>>796768
Your late husband's family has and takes care of her, but last you knew has her heavily under religious scrutiny because of her disease. As you transmitted lycanthropy to your husband through your relationship, so too was your daughter afflicted through pregnancy. Last you saw of her was when your husband was killed, your in-laws took her to keep her away from you, but insodoing also kept her safe.

You imagine she has a pretty hard life nowadays, but it's always been your hope to return with a cure for the disease so you can be with her again.

>>
>>796815
Aw shit, we need to keep working on that cure

>>
>>796832
Unless the in-laws drastically changed their lifestyle and living situation, she'd be in western Almace with them, roughly near to where you used to live. The chances of encountering her randomly during travels are low, and you wouldn't be allowed near her anyway, but besides that you wouldn't risk trying to see her anyway. You still wish sometimes though, still hope and have dreams of being together, as a family.

>You wonder what she looks like now... does she get the gifts you send to her?

>>796827
Sounds good then. Really great job playing Alicia players, I'm surprised how well you handled the gang and the lair. I'd want to reward you for it but I don't know how.
>>
>>796847
Maybe have some mercy regarding the odds of Nikolai finding out we're here?
Honestly I don't want to deal with him. He sounds like a hassle right now.

So how does Alicia brew potions so quickly?
And why can't every alchemist do that?

also what did you expect us to do? Go full genocide?
>>
>>796847
How long has it been since we last saw her?
>>
>>796852
Well I expected there to be conflict, but it was quite cleverly handled, and went really well. The only issue Alicia suffered was the shardfluid potion she bust on herself, so you actually didn't a single injury from an enemy, and at the same time only killed a few of them.

As for Nikolai becoming aware, you're probably safe on that end. Unless Alicia runs afoul of the authorities or gets noticed publicly, it should be fine. Some local gang hiding in the catacombs though, is not a big deal.

As for how Alicia does what she does, her impatience over her disease does and has always prompted her to be impatient with her alchemy. As such she knows better than anyone around how to speed up reactions by adding the right catalysts, how to mix them the best, and of course her personal experience as life on the run as a criminal neccessitates and gives her skill for that. Of course all of this comes at the risk of instability in her work, and the chance of mishaps, just like Mags with her magic.

>>796869
It would probably be... around 8 years? She was very young when you had to leave her, about only a year old maybe. You had her at 16 so yeah, about 8 years. 2 were spent as a wolf after your life fell apart, 3 under the care and teaching of the former master alchemist, and 3 on the run as a criminal.
>>
>>796916

There isn't really a dragon magic. Maggy's issue is that her human form is not suited for magic practice, with the amount of sheer magic power it holds.

As for a book, the problem is the academy doesn't dealt *that* much with alchemy, especially as it continues to fall out of style. You might be able to find some useful old books, but probably none about lycanthropy since it's not a common or well understood disease, so few have studied it let alone try to cure it. The former master alchemist was probably the first to try, with Alicia, when he tracked her down as a wolf and succeeded in luring her back to human life and civilization.

>>796936
Wouldn't it be just terrible, if the in-laws mistreated Alicia's daughter and abused her, or better yet the church?
>>
>>796967
>Falls asleep into dragon hibernation
>Centuries later we wake up to find the art of magic dead
Feels bad man.
>Wouldn't it be just terrible, if the in-laws mistreated Alicia's daughter and abused her, or better yet the church?
They are cruisin for a bruisin.

So would Maggie be able to use her magic to do what her internal power does for her and burn the disease out of Alicia's system without killing her?
>>
>>796967
Oooooohhhhh boi
I would try to kill anyone involved in her mistreatment
>>
>>796979
You've considered this before, not with Alicia, but forcing your magic power into someone. You're not sure what would happen, and don't know of anyone trying it before.

With Alicia it's even more complicated because her disease is magical in nature, it's not the curse type of lycanthropy where they lose control on a full moon.

It might work though, you just don't have any good idea what would happen.
>>
>>796998
Um excuse me but wow, that's Alicia's in-laws, relatives of her husband and daughter. So what if they beat her, starve her, and keep her locked up?
>>
>>796999
Wait.
What if we do the opposite.
If the disease is magical in nature it would have innate magic power like a magic entity.
Maybe instead we should try to draw the magic energy put of her.
That should cripple the disease and make it easy pickings.
>>797004
Murder is too nice.
We should infect them
>>
>>797009
You could try that you suppose. Indeed the disease is magical.

As for infecting them, that's a hilariously poetic justice. Let them live as wolves and see how they like it, if they don't get lynched first like your husband.

Come back for who, Alicia? She would almost comically dominate them, and very easily kill even all of them at the same time. She's not only a lifelong werewolf, but also her alchemical experiments have advanced her form from normal wolf to bulkier bipedal and semi-intelligent form.
>>
>>797106
Should note as well, that's what was meant earlier, when it would be their own demise if the gang caught her and this turned into a hentai quest. They'd become infected, and end up naturally submitting to her as the designated alpha female wolf.
>>
>>797075
>trapped in wolf form because of the presence of wild wolves

Yeah pretty much. Alicia herself was stuck as one among a pack of wolves for those two years, till the former master alchemist found her.

---

Anyway as for making up spells, it tends to vary based on how good your magic was. If I recall though, Mags can spell weave safely if the roll is below 50. I think it was

>Any magic, on a crit fail or success, she overloads and mutates
>Weaving magic, above a 50 or a crit fail, she overloads and mutates

Otherwise, it's safe for her. Even in the worst case failure though, like a 1 or 100 on spell weaving, she still wouldn't be out for more than half a day, which would still leave plenty of time to be there for the burning later.

>>797105
There's one main one in the square outside the cathedral, which is officially designated and presided over. Through the city though, it's normal to see groups of people going around having bonfires and effigies, and looking for any undesireables that the inquisitors missed. A common practice you know is for the inquisitors to lead a captive werewolf around to hunt down any werewolves or other night creatures in hiding, but the common citizenry afterward in the hope of catching anything missed, might lead a captive or domesticated normal wolf around just in case.

>>
>>797152
Well it was after her husband was killled, so it would have been from 17-19. If you remember when you first met her and asked about her and her short life story, she skipped that part. There's a reason she doesn't want to talk about that time of her life, and you sort of guessed why.

Anyway though you pull her aside, and want to ask her something. She actually says she wanted to talk to you as well. She knows you're going out later, but she appreciates it if you would have Julien and Rafe not to stay here tonight, and maybe have Tora over just in case. She's planning on restraining herself to her room, maybe just drugging herself out for the night. If though a mob brings by a wolf or wolves though she could transform, so Avor being unable to be infected would be good to have in the house to keep her calm and talk to her, and Tora outside to grab and keep her just in case she tries to get out.

On the matter of the spell though, do you want to create a spell for something your body naturally does? Remember that your body when it loses magic, automatically drains magic from the surroundings. So you'd be making a spell to try and coax the magic out of something, when if drained of magic, your body would forcibly rip the magic out anyway.
>>
>>797193
>Us having any sort of spell to drain us on that level.

Could we make a spell to forcibly eject almost all of our magic energy?

>Also I'd like to note that Alicia getting railed by wild wolves isn't okay in the slightest considering her back story.
>>
>>797188
She was infected younger than 12. However her father understanding the disease, always kept a close handle on her so she wouldn't run off if she transformed. When she got married and moved away with her husband, by then she was used to having the disease so could prevent herself from turning feral, and then when her husband caught it from her, they had each other while transformed so even if mingling with wild wolves for a time they'd still keep paired together.

It was when her husband was killed when she was 17, the first time that she went feral because she didn't have him anymore, and at that time didn't care to prevent herself from doing so. Of course she would later come to regret it.

So no, there ain't no creepy underage wolf living, I'm not running *that* kind of quest.
>>
>>797199
Of course it's not ok, which is good because it hasn't happened since that time when she went feral. After the alchemist found her, the experiments rendered her too different for something like that, and she doesn't go looking for it either, even instinctually thanks to among other things, the smutty books and relieving stress if you will.

Regardless though, back to Mags.

Making a spell to just suddenly, forcibly eject all the magic from your body could be possible but also very dangerous. Probably much safer to try to learn how to create nulll magic fields, or get an item which can do the same.

So what happens to us if we made a spell to draw out magic energy and absorb it and we were at max capacity?

And let's go get Julien and rafe and get them out of the house.
>>
>>797240
There is no such thing as max capacity for you. What would happen is that if you were at your current body form's standard capacity, if you absorbed too much it would start to damage your human form. To the same effect as if you overextended yourself and mutated, as you draw in too much magic energy and your human body starts to melt away more or less against the brilliance of the magic energy.

Either way you have Julien and Rafe to leave for the day. Julien has to work anyway, and Rafe you just have him go over to hang out with Aea. You tell both not to come back till tomorrow though.
>>
>>797269
Lets go look for Fera and have her by our side while we attend the events of today
>>
>>797290

>>
>>797291
Yeh, what if for whatever reason she gets dragged to the stakes, fuk that, she's staying close to us
>>

>>
>>797316
Oh well, she can stay in her flat
How long does the burning thing last?
>>
>>797326
A few hours. They parade the guilty, tie them up and say a bunch of stuff, then roast them. You're not expected to stay for all of it though, just the speech part where they'll award you.
>>
>>797342
Well, let's stay until we get awarded then we should check on Fera and go home to stay with Alicia
>>
>>797350
That sounds fair. It's still before noon though so you've got a ton of time till then if you want to do anything in the meantime.
>>
>>797370
Stay with Alicia until it's time to leave
Also i gtg sleep op, cya
>>
>>797370
Wait we need to search for a magic item that drains aether energy from a person.
>>
>>797974
You can head over to the academy and ask for one, they've got null pendants intended for magic training and practice use. If you're going to take it beyond the grounds though, they ask that you bring it back within the same day.

Now, what do you want to do?
>>
>>798167
Well let's head back to Alicia
Hopefully she's still semi aware still.
>>
>>798172
Semi aware of what? It's still before noon, she's wide awake and completely normal. Still doesn't know of your plan either.
>>
>>798181
Put on the pendant.
And do we have any spells that use drains aether actively to maintain itself?
Would aether bow do that?
>>
>>798195
Any constant spell is going to do that, but some will do it faster than others. The bow actually wouldn't ironically because it's just a solid lump of the stuff separate from your body. It takes a lot to conjure, but not to maintain.

Again though, really any constant spell. You can think of a few that are quite intensive.
>>
>>798198
Would aether clothes damage the pendant?
And can I get a list of those spells?
>>
>>798203
Aether clothes will damage pretty much anything.

Same as before, I've not written up some big comprehensive spell list available, so if you want specifics you can check out a typical D&D spell list and imagine something equivalent to or creatively on the same level as something up to 3rd level.
>>
>>798224
Okay then put on the pendant and just keep summoning and unsummoning our bow.
>>
>>798228
With the pendant on you quickly drain yourself of mana with your bow. The feeling onsets quite quickly and it is a very unpleasant feeling you're not familiar with, like you're not in connection with your body and everything is dull and numb, even your senses, and you find it hard to keep active or remain standing.

Avor asks if you're ok and is worried about you. Alicia isn't there at that moment because she isn't aware of the plan.
>>
>>798269
Take off the pendant.
Will we damage the pendant in drain mode?
>>
>>798280
No no it's a magic item.

Anyway you take off the pendant and roll it across the room. The room flashes dark for a moment and it looks like there's a strong breeze in the room in your direction, as you're quickly enervated by what you'd guess to be magic in the area. You're quickly back to feeling better, but you realize that Avor collapsed and isn't moving anymore.
>>
>>798301
Oh shit check his heart beat and get him out now.
>>
>>798309
You rush over to him to see what happened in a panic. He's still alive you can sense, but he's unresponsive. Hurriedly you pick him up and carry him out, moving downstairs with him to the entrance room worrying and trying to figure out what to do. After a bit, Alicia comes upstairs from hearing the commotion and asks what's wrong. Without explaining the whole situation to her, she tries to check Avor out but isn't familiar with kobold biology. She wonders if he's out because magic lapse, maybe he just needs some time to regain it? Unless there's a way of faster returning it to him.

You're not sure what to do since you've never tried, you've only vaguely heard stories about it and imagined it as possible, but in a worried mess you hug Avor close and and try to focus your power and channel it into him. Even with your eyes closed trying to concentrate, you get a very short glimpse of something strange in the two of you, his dim and yours bright. Just a quick flash but you sense your brightness flare and eclipse his before receding and you see his is a little brighter.

You open your eyes when you feel movement in your arms, as the kobold draws a sharp breath and anxiously asks what's going on, probably a little uneasy to be hugged by you like this. Alicia lets out a held breath and says that's better now.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>798455
>Check something reflective to see if our aura is the same brightness
Then say
>I may have increased the strength of your magic potential a tiny bit avor. Oh and revive you.
>>
>>798467
You look in a polished surface and see yourself, your aura looks exactly the same. You tell Avor you might have given him power though which he reacts quite positively to, and changes his dreams now of becoming a dread pirate, to a master sorcerer.

You're not sure if you actually increased his magic power, the topic in school was kind of confusing and didn't seem like that was possible, but who knows?

>What do you want to do now?
>>
>>798526
Well I wanted to cure Alicia but we can do that later.
We need to talk to a teacher about this.
Ask why his aura would get brighter
>>
>>798535
You're looking at Avor, his aura isn't brighter or different in any way. Whatever you glimpsed when you transferred your power to him, wasn't his aura.

>>

Wew.
We should still talk to a teacher about what it could mean.
>>
>>798570
You run on over to the school and ask around for a teacher who is still there for the recess, and who might know. You're able to find one who at least has read a good amount on the matter. He says it's impossible to say in your case since he wasn't there and since you're special, but he imagines what you were glimpsing was the two of your's souls, which would make sense dwelling around the heart. He thinks it very strange since seeing something like that shouldn't be possible for someone at only your common level of magic, unless it's divinely imbued. He guesses though that since you and Avor both have the same specific type of soul, the soul of a dragon, that yours picked up on the familiarity and you recognized it if only for a moment.

He questions why you are living with a kobold though, assuming to mean the women's domicile on the school grounds, and says they're terrible filthy little creatures and shouldn't be in or around the academy, after the last mishap.
>>
>>798617
>What? What mishap? Also he's not living here. I own a house in the city.
>And what would it mean if his soul got brighter?
>>
>>798629
He's surprised you have a house in the city, and asks if you have family or something, a wealthy father perhaps or a husband? That's how "you" would have gotten a house no doubt.

The mishap he refers to is some years back, a dragon-sent team of kobold scavengers used the catacombs to try and dig into the acadamy from underneath and get something from the secure wing.

As for his soul getting brighter, when you describe again what happened, he doesn't think Avor's soul got brighter, just returned to it's normal vibrance. He says it's a good thing he (the teacher) likes you though, all of this you're describing is all very forbidden and breaking lots of rules, especially with the use of a school-owned magic item.
>>
>>798712
>All very forbidden
You mean altering a living creatures soul?
>>
>>798755
You didn't alter it, that's extreme heresy. He means messing around with null magic so you can drain magic from things, and then forcing your magic into said things, particularly in your case and particularly with a kobold.
>>
>>798780
Okay then let's thank him for the help and ask if they found anything studying our familiar
Then let's return that necklace to the school and visit the smithy couple.

Also how knowledgeable are we one making magic items now?
>>
>>798787
So you're not bothering with Alicia? Just checking.

You ask what the status on the tree is, he says it doesn't have a conventional intelligence, it just reacts to things, in this case always hostile as if protecting something. You seem to be the only one it doesn't act that way towards. Other than that they're still studying it.

Otherwise you return home to get the trinket and return it to the school, then go to the smithy couple. They're happy to see you and invite you to lunch with them since it's about noon now. Afterward they'd be happy to continue working with you.

Your experience is still minor but you do have some practical knowledge and could try making something with their help if you roll.
>>
>>798835
I want to help them make something
What do they want us to help with?
>Our tree assaults everyone but us. Almost like it's protecting something
It's a sentree.
I wonder what it would feel the need to protect.
(Get it? sentry? sentree?)
>>
>>798874
You tell them you'd like to try making something yourself, they're very happy and supportive of the idea, and say you can try making a magic panel for a door with them. The husband will handle the smithing, and you'll handle the enchanting with the wife assisting if you need it. The tools are all ready to go since they'd been working this morning as well, but while he gets the metal and the heat up, the wife goes over again the process, a quick rundown to get you prepared and holding your hands asks if you're ready. You can tell they're both excited.

You join them at the anvil and forge, occasionally being told by the husband to watch out for standing too close or being in the way, but you work with him as he tempers and hammers out the hot metal panel and concentrate between clangs to imbue it with the magical properties so desired. The wife originally stood by in case you'd need help, but when she sees how well you're doing she stands back to watch in anticipation.

It takes a good while, longer than you'd thought, and you encounter some hiccups along the way since you and the husband are not magically intuned like him and his wife are, but it's nothing the two of you can't correct. Eventually after a tiresome and sweltering time, you both put the physical and magical finishing touches on it, and he takes it to set after you finish the enchantment. Wiping your brow and pulling back and forth at your clothes a bit to get some air and cool off, the husband returns and hoists you up in the air with a happy roar. You stifle a shriek as he spins you around and sets you down again with a laugh, and the wife joins in, hugging you and congratulating you. They both say how proud of you they are, and how masterfully you made your first magic item. You can't help but feel elated if a bit tired, in her embrace as she jumps up and down a little in excitement and he rests a firm, proud hand on your shoulder.

It gives you a nice warm feeling inside, not just the accomplishment, but the bond you feel with them.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>799136
What were the magical properties desired I wonder.
Let's relax and drink some water.
We have officially made our first magic item.
And how much longer until the burning?
>>
>>799167
They were making it for an order, that it makes the door silent, so no slamming but also no outside or inside noise passing. It's nothing glamorous, but for a first time it's a good start and you did amazingly well. The husband even teases he should marry you as well, and put any other magic smithy in town out of business.

You chill for awhile as the husband sets about taking everything down and putting things away in preparation for the burning eve, while the wife talks with you and is curious about your school arrangements since she figured you to be in school through the month, and how that would interfere with the Natal Eve.

It's about 3-ish now so the event starts in about 6 hours (though people start wandering the streets at nightfall). It occurs to you that before then you'll want to get clean.
>>

What's that?

That's the holiday this month to celebrate the birth of the child of God some thousand plus years ago. It's quite holy and people celebrate by attending church often, spending time with friends and family and sharing in charity and the giving spirit.

Also aside of that, there's some traditions and practices that go along with the holiday, including supposedly Saint Nichols battling the yuletide dragon and riding it across the sky to bring good tidings to observant families and folks.

You thank them and bid them farewell, and they tell you to watch yourself tonight.

Anyway you return home, Avor asking why you look all dirty and tired. You ask for a little privacy as you want to wash and get clean, so Avor heads to his and Alicia's room where he informs you she's busy decorating or something, setting up some things she brought back last night around her bed and living space.

>What do you want to do?

You get clean then read up on one of the dream books, making some sense of it. A lot of these though aren't so much magic, as practices and things to do, and ways of understanding and interpreting dreams. It seems the magic to actually influence them is sort of risky and considered somewhat a touchy subject. Something about risking influencing a person's mind, or doing actual psychological damage or even physical damage. It's overall a very interesting and celebrated study of magic, but very complex and potentially dangerous so not often dealt with unless by masters or cooperating groups.

Either way, it's about time, you've got under an hour before you should head out to reach the square. Any last things you want to do at home before leaving? Or along the way, for that matter.
>>
>>799660
Put on that nice dragon bracelet we had for the ball.

>>
>>799686
Okay get some formal wear.
>>
>>799718
You wait some plain but appropriate clothes and head on over to the square. There's lots of people milling around but you can see the stakes being set up, and an elevated platform. You kind of wander around for awhile before the same sheriff notices you and calls you over so he can explain the situation. As it will go down, you'll be seated with some prominent people, the speaking will go on, then the archdeacon will speak on your behalf and award you, as well as a royal minister will thank and reward you for your service to the city.

He also asks if you've ever been to one of these before, and if not you might want to sit at the back, or have some way of shielding your eyes. It's not for the faint of heart and can be quite disturbing to witness if you've never seen it before.

>>
>>799967
So we can fuck with souls?
What would happen if we tried to connect our soul with something else?
And the reason Avor was out was because his soul was weakened?
>>
>>799889
Also when is Maggie's birthday?
And is there an upper limit to magic effects we can put on an item?
Can we make a dress that's tear resistant and waterproof and repels dirt or is self cleaning?
And what would the schools reaction be if we knew how to make magic items?
>>
>>799989
Only holy or unholy power can tamper with souls. In the case with Avor though, he's a magical creature so having all his magic power stolen by you didn't damage his soul, just temporarily weaken it, in the same way that sharing your power with him didn't strengthen his soul, just restore it to normal.

DON"T CONNECT YOUR SOUL WITH SOMETHING ELSE

Yes, Avor passed out because his soul was weakened. Not damaged though, again, only holy or unholy power and permanently alter a soul.

>>800356
Her birthday is in the springtime, about when she was cast out to begin all of this with.

There is an upper limit to *how* magical an item can be, based on how magically attuned it was made to be, or like if it becomes magically naturally like an item of legend. Either way though the limit is quite high, so yes you could make a dress like that. The more magic it is though, the more brightly it would burn to something which can notice or detect magic like a defensive barrier or something which can see magic. It would also become more unstable as it has more magics coursing through it and pulling every which way, so to speak. Though interestingly the item would also become much more magically resistant, since it would be magical in so many ways, progressively more powerful spells would be needed to affect it.

As for the school finding out, they would disprove of you doing it outside the school grounds, but the knowledge itself they'd commend you on for learning at your skill level and be quite impressed at your ability.
>>
>>800606
Well we may be casting it outside of school grounds but it's mostly practice and as part of a deal with the people teaching us.

>>
>>800650
Right but they would rather the school was teaching you. This is all if they were to find out of course, and if they did it would probably be just a slap on the wrist.

>y tho

If you do it wrong, you could end up damaging yours or theirs or both souls. Plus it's extra heretical, since it's ordained by god on how to or not to.

You could increase Avor's magic power just like you could increase (or give to) anyone's magic power, the normal natural way as specified by the church and allowed by god. Which is basically that, when two people form a physical and emotional bond and make a connection, just as the other parts of them join so do their souls and things are shared or transferred. In layman's terms, when beings love one another, they share more than just their bodies or feelings or both. This is why if in say, a marriage between a magical person and a non-magical person, over the years the non-magical will end up gaining magic from their spouse. Take the smithy couple, the wife is a mage and the husband isn't, but as a couple he's come to gain magic from her overtime so that he can actually smith magic items just as she can enchant them.

That sort of bond, transfer, is permanent and doesn't actually diminish the one person's magic to give to the other. Another very straightforward example is childbearing, if the child would not have been magic but the mother is, she will passively imbue her magic upon it. The same is true if two magic beings of different types of magic formed a bond, like an aetherial and natural magic entity, each other's magic overtime would bleed over a little to the other.

So yes you can permanently increase the magic of someone, or actually give them magic when they had none, without diminishing yours at all. Maybe not with Avor though, since he's a ruddy little lizard man.

Other than the natural way, it's very hard and very dangerous. There *are* ways but they tend to be the subject of tragedies and ill-fated fables of warning.
>>
>>800796
But I thought magical item creation was a super secret.
What would the cost or deal be for them to teach us?

So let's just sit with those important people and wait for us to get called up I guess
>>
>>800665
It's been said before but Mags is pretty lonely (at least romantically), and only has been more and more so since being cast out. On top of that because of all the changes in her life and to her body, her self-esteem is dismally low.

As such Mags the person, is willing to accept love or at least romantic company from wherever she can find it currently. While she is confirmed straight, as she feels at present, Fera is the person closest to her, to show her that kind of affection, so she's already considered it and is willing to try it. An actual relationship with Fera wouldn't be on her mind, but in trying something out with her, if it ended up not being terrible then she'd be more open to the idea of becoming close with Fera which in time could lead to thoughts of a relationship.

>>
>>800872
She feels pretty good about her standing in life and all she's done, confident in herself. But that's not the same as how she feels about herself in relation to other people. Her body is changing to a legendary monster, her prospects of finding love dwindle the more she changes. Certainly there's more to life than that, and since being cast out she's slowly coming to realize that, but on just a basic level it's hard for her to imagine living alone as a mutating monster. Plus her faith and feelings about her religious standing in the world. Unlike Aea she's not the type to find a guy to shack up with temporarily when she's feeling glum, holy matrimony is ever on her mind and the more she changes the less that could ever happen.

But anyway, you go to the area where the classier folk are. There's some confusion at first and you frequently are asked what you're doing there by different people there, but each time you explain you killed the vampire they realize who you are and accept it, showing you courtesy. You become kind of an odd curiosity among them, a young woman who hunted and killed a monster on her own, and with eyes like yours no less. As such you find yourself on the spot to entertain some of them and their curiosities, with talking about yourself some, and most interesting to them the tale (their amazement when they find out, tales) of vampire hunting.

This goes on for some time until a good crowd of people gather and the event itself kicks off. There's some initial speaking to get the crowd riled up, then an inquisitorial retinue lead those caught and convicted into and around the square by chains, in cages, on carts and whatnot. In total there's only four of them, but that seems enough for the angry and noisy crowd who throws things at them and curses them as they are led through.

Then they are brought onto the elevated stage and their situations declared as some speaking is done on matters overall. Eventually the guilty are led off the stage on the way yo the stakes, where you're called up and a speech is given on behalf of the archdeacon who commends you for your bravery and such and grants you a holy badge, while a royal minister speaks to your service to the city and you're granted a commendation letter from the crown as well as moneyed reward for your duty to the city. It's a pretty big ordeal and you guess they want to make you an example to the rest of the citizenry about vigilance and combatting the menaces to the city.

Roll if you will, just to see how well you handle it, being up in front of such a large crowd and being the center of attention as the high official fellows speak of your deeds.

Interesting idea, but Mags wouldn't come to that conclusion on her own. Talking to a priest or going to church might help her to cope though. She has strayed from the path since being cast out to be fair.

>>801063

Yeah you do alright. You're not used to lots of people and being in attention, but you don't make a fool out of yourself. All that mattered was you didn't roll shit low and make an ass of yourself, or crit roll high and accidentally charm the people in attendance.

Anyway, everyone cheers for you and again you're thanked, free to take your seat again.

What follows is the last part of the ceremony, as those guilty are strung up on ladders to be propped against the stakes. They are given a chance to confess and recant, to atone for their sins. Two of the people do so, two do no, one a witch who shamelessly admits to it and ends up hurling some curses at some unlucky people before her mouth is bound. The other is a strong silent type of guy who maintains his innocence.

They're propped up and the pyres are lit. With her mouth bound the witch soon succumbs to the smoke without much sound. The fellow though starts to holler and shake, as his body contorts and starts shifting in unnatural ways as he before everyone's eyes turns into a wolf. It's kind of bothering to you to watch, as the wolf struggles and howls and whines against the restraints and the heat and fire. Because of the disease he withstands it until the flames actually reach him, then everything is drowned out by the fire. You choose to not watch any more, realizing it reminds you of Alicia and her situation, and you can't help but seeing her up there in the man's place.

We need to visit the dragoness tomorrow.
That was for our necklace and all that.
>>

Unless you come home hanging onto a working man with one arm and a baby in the other, dad's going to be at least to some extent, complaining.

But yeah you can go home if you like. Before you do go however, you're asked for some time aside by an armored fellow bearing the drape and mark of a bladed cross. A cursory glance also indicates that he is armed, and he looks like he's seen some shit, from the scars alone.

You agree as he escorts you aside. You may have mistaken him by his demeanor but he's remarkably courteous to you as you'd expect of a noble. He finds a printshop nearby that isn't technically open but the owner and workers are watching the burning. He asks them for use of the place but isn't actually asking. The owner doesn't seem to mind too much, as the fellow introduces himself as Sir ___? of the order of Saint Martin of the Sword. He informs you that they know of your exploits and your nature, and are bidden to seek you out and offer their association if you would have it, particularly in protecting you from any orders or sects of Saint Garlan.

He says it might be sudden and a lot to take in but he's willing to explain things better so long as he understands that you are indeed Magdalena and that you are of the dragon's blood.

When you confirm who you are, he commands the shopkeeper to bear witness, as he draws his sword and drops to a knee, placing it at your feet and taking a hand of yours in both of his. You're surprised how gentle he is with you, despite probably having killed people with those hands. Either way he speaks on behalf of himself before God and Saint Martin, that he does so pledge his service to you if you would have it, and may it be that you come to accept the service of the order proper as well.

You're not sure what to make of it and are a little flustered, figuring to ask about the orders and sects he mentioned. He apologizes and doesn't mean to offend or overwhelm you with all of this, and reminds you that Saint Garlan was the dragon slayer who turned the tides against dragons the continent over and forced them into decline. Truly this is not the case of all those associated with him as Garlan was a good and just man and a Saint himself, but some have dedicated themselves to specific aspects of his nature. In this case hostility to dragons. He imagines a slaying order, would love to display you for all to see then kill you, or a punishing order to get their hands on you.

>What do you want to do?
>>
>>801339
>Some people in an order want to find us and cause us extreme bodily harm.
No.

Anyways yes we will accept his assistance and the aid of the order proper.
And let's ask him more of the order of Martin

Maybe his name can be Richard?

Oh and did they seek us out just to offer to protect us? That's nice of them
>>
>>801361
Richard works.

He blesses you for accepting and returns to standing, asking if there is something you would give him as a token of proof. It doesn't have to be valuable, just something of evidence.

When you ask more about him and his order, he says he can explain whatever you want to know but wonders if there would be a better place for it now or if you know of a place where you could talk in better conditions. A church would be ideal but the cathedral right there is to alive with activity from the burning.

While thinking of a place you might go, you ask him if he sought you out just to protect you. He says that is their most basic duty since you are akin to living proof of God's grace and triumph, however he would pray that you realize your potential and that they serve you in finding and reaching that.
>>
>>801398
OP we're wearing our dragon bracelet right?
Use that as a token of proof.
>We're akin to living proof of gods grace and triumph
Because we're a half dragon the slays vampires
And can we go to the church where we reported the vampires presence?
>>
>>801398
Lets give him our dragon bracelet if we have it, if not let's go get it
>>
>>801414
You give him your bracelet and he thanks God for your benevolence and kindness, as he takes it and wraps it up in a cloth.

You can go to the church you have in mind but it's pretty far away. A church does suit him fine though.
>>
>>801444
Yeah let's make the walk.
>>
>>801460
That's fine then yeah, you make your way over to the church. Before and after entering her observes all the traditions and expectations before he joins you. As you are sitting, he kneels beside you and asks how he may be of service.

So what do you want to know?
>>
>>801528
Firstly let's ask him more about the order of sir Martin
Then he said we are living proof of gods grace and triumph.
Why does he say that?
>>
>>801550
Saint Martin was a soldier of times past who together with Saint Senex, a preacher, did many great things. Most notably helping to spread the faith to the east, and in part gave prescedence fo the wars of faith. An important facet of the teachings though, probably the most of St. Senex was that non-commoner (humans, elves, orcs, etc.) creatures and entities, unless specifically created so, were not evil in nature. They had the potential to be loyal and faithful followers of God just like any other person, and souls capable of salvation as well. When he came to be venerated, his beliefs and teachings on the matter, served as a major reworking and understanding of commoner and other race/creature relations. Rather than reacting hostile from the outset and resorting to violence, through faith these non-commoners could be approached, interacted with and safely brought into the light. Of course this didn't and doesn't always work, but many today, are the populations of non-commoners who stand beside and live among commoners as fellow faithful.

So in the way that St. Senex was the preacher, St. Martin was the protector and enforcer, and though each saint is known for their own deeds and venerated separately, they are often attributed together and their orders certainly work together. Martin conquered what Senex could not enlighten, and their weapons were faith. Thus, Saint Martin of the Sword and Saint Senex of the Cross.

As for why he referred to you as he did, in the order's eyes you embody Martin's view of conquering the unfaithful, in this case among the greatest of all, a dragon. Your human parent may not have been able to enlighten the dragon one with their spirit, but they were able to conquer it with their body, and you are the proof of that. You are yourself mostly human, and a good and just follower and servant of the faith. You are not a sinful creature of greed and malice that burns people and towns, you are a pious woman of generosity and kindness that cares for her fellow man and protects them.

And so your human parent did not need to kill the dragon to conquer it, they did so with love and strength of faith and body. You, Mags, are a living embodiment of human might over wickedness, triumph of a faithful body over a faithless one. In the same way that one may fall from the light to the dark, you are the case of ascending from the dark to the light, written in flesh.

Pic related for those two people.

They are best orders
>>
>>801799
He says that's not an issue at all, so long as you remain faithful. Sure it's not *as* triumphant as if you remained human, but the core point here is the faith.

If you turn into a full dragon but are faithful, that's a victory for the faith. Just because your human parent didn't kill the dragon, they still conquered it because the end result is a faithful dragon(you) for the religion. Better still that it's actually also the dragon's lineage that is conquered, since assumedly hereafter you and your own children and so on and so forth are followers of the faith.

Killing an enemy is one victory, convincing them to join you without bloodshed is true victory.

He's bretty gud guy.

Anyways tell him we need to head back to school grounds and turn in.
We have a busy day tomorrow.

So how many days are in our winter break?
>>
>>801876
A solid month. Richard asks what you would bid him to do then in the meantime? He'll be writing to the order that you accepted, then going to show them the proof you gave him, then returning with others for your protection. It will probably take awhile to hear back from them though, so if you had anything for him he'd gladly carry it out.

>And in heading home was there anything you wanted to do along the way? It's not yet midnight.
>>

Lets go check up on Fera and then head home
>>
>>801951
He could accompany us till we get back to the school grounds but otherwise we don't need help with much.
We mostly spend our time in study.
Could we have a map writer help us make a magic map that displays the location of our siblings?
>>801984
We don't into alchemy anon.
I don't think we could really tell strong from weak besides dragons are stronk.
Also let's not bring a man of the faith to fera on burning eve.
That sounds like a cruel prank.
>>
>>801999
But hes Goin away for a bit right? Hes writing and going to show his order what we gave him
Unless hes not doing that right no

Or im retarded
>>
So what's the consensus? And just out of curiousity, why are you going back to school? If there's something you need that's fine, but you don't have class tomorrow, today was the first day of the recess.
>>
>>802005
He has to write to them, then if they recall him he'll hear back. So you're looking at a few weeks to a month for a round trip correspondence.
>>
>>802009
So is the magic map to detect our half dragon siblings we may have possible?
It could be just to detect all of our siblings if only half dragons is too specific
>>
>>802009
Can we set him "loose", let him do whatevs while we do the things we normally do? Or does he have to follow us around everywhere we go?
>>
>>802015
I think something like siblings is too specific, but you could detect anyone with your blood. It would actually be not even that hard if you had a sample of their blood or something already. For what you have in mind though, the map that just magically locates them without having to do with them would probably take a master mage.

For any dragon relatives though it probably wouldn't work since dragons resist magic.

>>802028
No he doesn't have to follow you around. He's supposed to protect you from anyone, but if you turned him loose so to speak, he'd probably just go find work with the church or an inquisitor or something. His order is tantamount to the monster-fucking order, conquering with the dick, so he'd probably do a lot to help non-commoners from getting targeted.
>>
>>802043
>A pro monster girl order
I like them.

So anyways what would be the most effective way to track them down then?
>>
>>802043
Well, then let's set him loose, tell him where we live if he needs to see us

And let's check up on Fera after hes gone
>>
>>802056
>Tell him where we live
I'm wary of this as it's were we keep the werewolf.
Who's a wanted criminal by the way
>>
>>802061
I was thinking about that too but he has no reason to suspect her and we can always keep Alicia in the basement/him outside while he's there
>>
>>802073
Fine but we should stop by and warn Alicia first.
>>802043
Also how strong would our siblings resistance to magic be?
It can't be as strong as a full dragon.
What would it take to track them?
>>
>>802051
Well not so much monstergirls, though they aren't hostile to cooperative creatures. Rather, they value faithful crossbreeds, since it's seen as the triumph of a faithful follower over a non-faithful.

As for finding them, probably some sort of divining, or looking the old fashioned way. There's actually a really easy way but I can't just give that away to you.

>>802056
You can do that, sure, and let him know where you live. In the meantime then you head for Fera's.

>>802061
It's worth noting that Richard is not Almese, he only speaks it. So him recognizing Alicia as an Almese criminal is not an issue unless she makes it, and unless he was witness to it he wouldn't just know she's a werewolf.

>>802080
The concern with the siblings is that father dragon wouldn't have been on the continent all that long. When he got freaky with Maggy's mom, he was just barely an adolescent, making his way to the ocean from the continent interior to make his journey to the New World. So he might have left a trail of bastards (and not just with commoners either) in his wake, but they'd likely be in a rough line across Almace and from whence he came farther west in the continent. As such though that doesn't leave much chance for adventurous half-dragons going around causing a ruckus and making a name for themselves, because it would be a prominent issue in the continent, Garlan's folk would have hunted and skewered them for it.

So I won't say there aren't any siblings, there's probably a good few, and I won't say none of them are unaware. But I don't think it likely for them to be like, already half-transformed and flying around in the skies and getting in fights and causing a scene.

What do you think? I suppose at the very least you could roll to see how many possible siblings there may be. Seeing how many are aware of their parentage, is another matter.

>>
>>802128
Yeah the d100 sounds fair. He could have taken his time boning his way to the ocean, or only made a few stops. Probably the higher though, the more depressing, then your mom really wasn't anything special.

You could track down any half siblings if you can figure out how. Be sure to be ok though with only like, 1/10 being even aware of the truth, and less than that interested in or having pursued their dragon heritage.

Now in the New World, that's something else, you'd probably be up to your ears in half siblings over there.

You can't to the menagerie, it's night and closed.

As for divide by 10 or not, it occurs to me if you do, then that means that at only 7 children, that's one for each common race. Could be an interesting plot point there.
>>
>>802224
Do it.
Divide.
Avor mentioned a prophecy.
Let it begin
Let's go home anyways.
We can get our plot item necklace tomorrow
>>
>>802224
Lets go home then
>>
Very well, you go home. Everything seems in order when you get there, Tora outside says no issues beyond some people coming by with a caged wolf. You thank her and dismiss her for the night.

When you get inside, you find Avor asleep at the door to his and Alicia's room, with a pot on his head and holding a stool and a ladle as weapons and defense. He's propped up against the door though so trying to check on Alicia would disturb him.

Thus you head to your room to sleep, Garfield snuggling up at the foot of your bed.

---

You awaken the next day to Breakfast at Alicia's for once, strangely. It turns out she's a pretty decent cook, when she doesn't have to worry about not infecting the food by accident (since Rafe and Julien spent the night out) so it's just you, her and Avor.

Some conversation is obviously abound, as you find out Alicia just drugged herself into a sleep coma when the sun started setting. They want to know though how was the ceremony for you?
>>
>>802252
>Well I got a holy badge, a commendation from the crown, met a someone from the order of Saint Martin, he swore service to me, and I learned that some people from the order of Saint Garlan might want to kill us publicly if they can. So business as usual basically.

>>802254
>Kill us publicly

>Kill me publicly
I think Maggie is approaching a point where odd and very unlikely news isn't even surprising her anymore
>>
>>802259
No, she's most certainly still shocked by the news, and it offends her delicate sensibilities. The thought of a group of people dedicated to *the* dragon slayer seeking to hunt you? That's always alarming and worrisome news, why you nearly faint in a tizzy at just the thought.

At any rate Avor says he'll defend you with his sorcerer powers as he bangs the pot with the ladle, and Alicia says she hasn't met a "Sir" she couldn't evaporate.

Anyway, anything left on your mind, or head out for the day? It's worth noting your're quite tired from fitful sleep, though that might just be nightmares after what you saw yesterday evening.
>>
>>802273
Bruh please she took the news that a religious sect is out to murder her better then the news she was half dragon.
Her bullshit resistance is leveling up pretty hard.

Anyways to the menagerie to visit dragon lady.
And on the way see if we can get some loose fitting clothes for our size and grab a travelers cloak if we can.
>>
>>802281
Um excuse me but wow she definitely was disturbed by this news and just didn't get a chance to react to it properly because she was in a hurry.

Anyway, you take your leave and get some loose clothes and a cloak. You make your way to the menagerie and they let you in now as expected. You find your way to the old armory where the dragoness is, and find her trying out a new rug they brought her from the Selden Empire. She likes it very much and asks you where you think it should go?
>>
>>802289
>Seldan rug
I think it should go in the center of the room.
So remember when you said you'd give me my necklace if I showed you 'that'

>Um excuse me but wow she definitely was disturbed by this news and just didn't get a chance to react to it properly because she was in a hurry.
Yeah cause we totally didn't just eat breakfast a shot while ago and not give a single fuck.
Maggie is getting nerves of steel.
>>
>>802295
The center of the room it is, as she carries it in her mouth and swipes aside the mountains of pillows and cushions with her huge paws to make room for the rug. You bring up "that" and she mentions she does recall something like that, moving her tail around so that you notice the necklace hanging from the end of it. She seems to be playing coy though, and feigning indifference.

>nerves of steel

No no you see because it's just that she just ate breakfast because she was hungry, and didn't react because she was le tired from the nightmares.
>>
>>802303
>No no you see because it's just that she just ate breakfast because she was hungry, and didn't react because she was le tired from the nightmares.
There are some people that would still flip the fuck out at that even if tired.
Maggie ranks exhaustion as a more pressing concern then being hunted.
Which is impressive.

Anyways.
>So is that a yes or no? I know that necklace is important. So if I show you can I get it back?
>>
>>802313
No no you see because it's like PTSD where she's acting normal as a coping mechanism, and later on it will all hit her like a truck in one go and ruin her fragile psyche.

>Yes or a no

She says she'll give you the necklace back when you're ready for it, but if you were to show her "that", well you'd certainly be more ready than you are now.
>>
>>802318
>Your not going to keep trying to put off on ever giving me the necklace right? I'd rather get it before becoming a dragon as I'm pretty sure my ability to travel freely will be severely limited. And if I show you will I be ready enough?
>>
>>802327
She says she will know when you're ready, but promises it would be before you became like her. If you showing her determines if you are ready, entirely depends how much "ready"-er it makes you.
>>
>>802336
Ask her if she's prepared to potentially take care of us while we're out for a week or two.
Also mention that we will outgrow our clothes.
And then I guess we get down to it.
>>
>>802341
She says she would love nothing more than an extended stay from you. As for clothes, well she supposes yes, you wouldn't change enough to where you wouldn't need them anymore. She can't imagine the guards though would just allow you to walk out of here naked, so fear not on that.

>>803570
Whoa
You're going too deep anon
>>
>>802405
Mmm that's some tasty treats.
>>803570

You gat +1 tiny power which puts it to 50, so +5 total.

You perform the spell which rips apart your body, spirit, and very being. You suffer an immense pain as you feel your body warp and your surroundings twist around out. You mind fries as your consciousness explodes into the ether, and the last thing you recall hearing before the drift, is the dragoness clapping her huge paws together and saying how wonderful it is.

---

You awaken some unknown time later, feeling surprisingly comfy but in pain. You're actually roused awake by some sort of arguing as you hear the dragoness responding angrily to someone outside the door. You try to move yourself, but realize you're swaddled up like a baby with just your face exposed from the blankets as she cradles you in one arm.

But your body aches, and you feel a sharp pain in some places. You don't get used to it, but it sort of dulls overtime to the background of everything else you're feeling, as you look around and try to make sense of things.
>>
>>803636
>Cry out.
We need to get their attention.
>>
>>803650
You cry out like a baby, and the dragoness notices, shouting once more at the door before hammering it with a clenched paw. She then turns her attention to you rocking you in her arm and rubbing you with her free paw, and shushing you and telling you it's alright little baby. Moving back to the center of the room she rears up and grabs for something, bringing a water skin to your face to drink which has milk in it.

Is this a dream?
>>
>>803671
>What's going on? How long have a I been out? Am I dreaming?
>>
>>803672
She say's it's alright, you were out for a couple days. It's not a dream, she's just been taking care of you with some help, though the guards to the place aren't happy with the arrangement, and the warden wants you gone. Not to worry though, she won't allow anything like that. She says you should probably rest, it's good that you're lucid again but you're still in a state.
>>
>>803682
>Okay then...*fall asleep*
>>
>>803691
You go back to sleep and wake up later when you have to use the bathroom. You're still swaddled, but the dragoness is currently using her lens to read a book while cradling you.
>>
>>803707
>Can you let me go now? I need to use the bathroom..
>>
>>803713
When you tell her you need to go, she unwraps you enough and lowers you down to the floor, asking how you are and if you need help. You think you're fine though as she directs you to ye olde chamber pot gotten especially for you and ye olde privacy.

You relieved after, but still in pain. You don't feel weak at all though.
>>
>>803729
Give ourselves a once for any changes or mutations.
>>
>>803743
You look yourself over. You can't judge for sure but it feels a little more weighty to move like you're bulkier, in the same way your movements seem less uncertain, but probably the most noticeable you find is a pair of small horns jutting up near your hairline. The shock at feeling them stills your hear and you panic, falling over yourself. Backing up against a wall, you touch them again as your heart starts to hammer and you begin to hyper ventilate.

The dragoness asks if everything is all right in there, she can sense you're getting stressed out. Is it that human woman time of the month? Did you knock the pot over?
>>
>>803772
>No I'm fine... I'll uhh be out in a bit!
Then let's use the bathroom
And remember calm down Magdalena.

OP how long are the horns in inches?
>>
>>803772
Oh God
What are the people going to think about us when they see us
>Panic
>>
Conflicting actions of panic and not panic!

You already went to the toilet though.
>>
>>803787
We gotta keep calm anon.
We're supposed to guide her.
She must stay strong.
>>
>>803796
How are we going to find a man with these things on us?
Is Charles going to be okay with this?
What are his friends going to think?
>panic harder

ANXIETY ATTACK ROLL
>>
>>803809
>how are we going to find a man like this

Yeah Mags panics, starting to sob until the dragoness notices her and tries to console her, but Mags makes a break for the door screaming and crying to be let out. Guard commotion is heard on the other side, as there's fiddling for keys.

The dragoness tries to talk to and calm her down but it's not working.
>>
>>803823
>97

Wow Mags goes nuclear, full hysterics and throwing a fit.
>>
HOLY SHIT IM SORRY
I didn't think i was going to roll high
My phones internet is probably going to run out soon
>>
Rolled 71 (1d100)

Cast a sleep spell on yourself since our other inner voice is trying to give us a heart attack
>>803831
Panic attacks ain't no game bruh.
Don't play with that shit
>>
>>803835
Mags is out of control now, fully hysterical. Player control leaves her body and drifts through the ether until it comes to someone present and lucid, the dragoness (you!), what do you want to do now?

You're a house sized winged fire breathing reptile.
>>
Rolled 99 (1d100)

>>803850
Can we cast a calming spell?
Oh wait we're a dragon of course we can.
>>
>>803860
Holy Shit
Nice

When we get back control we need to go home an calm down
Im. Leaving it up to you Nondescript in case i run put of internet
>>
>>803871
Also I'd like to ask that you don't roll to fuck up Mags emotional state.

I'm pretty sure we should be trying to stabilize her mentally
While aiming for goals
>>
>>803860
You don't really know magic, certainly you haven't used it in a very long time.

>99

You can take physical action to try and calm her though, as you grab her and restrict her movement, and talk at her. Not to her, she's not listening, but at her, let your voice and presence calm her down as you hold her close, let her cry it out. The door quickly opens but you reach a clawed hand out and rake at the floor, resulting in the door quickly slamming shut.

>What do you want to do?

As long as it's not like, go outside, melt the cage and fly free.
>>
>>803884
We're a dragon we can bullshit and make up magic as we please.
Does she not know this?

Let's just keep trying to soothe her.
These damn human sensibilities must be worrying her about her wonderful transformation
>>
>>803890
She can but she's super rusty, she much prefers not having to rely on magic if she doesn't have to so hasn't done so in a long time.

Either way you continue to console the little dragonling as she bawls her eyes out, and you tell her it's alright, horns aren't a bad thing. She didn't even reach the threshold for serious transformation, so it's not bad at all.

Hmmm... you're kind of hungry, maybe ask for dinner early once Mags is calm again.
>>
>>803905
Definitely should try for dinner.
Maybe if she has something to drink she'll calm down?
Where's that water skin?
>>
>>803912
You still have it. You meant dinner for yourself but you suppose you could share...

---

Mags (you!) has calmed down some after crying it out in the grasping embrace of the dragoness, and getting some food to eat, as well as a drink on request.

You're still in a state, and depressive now as your self-esteem takes a nose dive, but you're not hysterical anymore.
>>
>>803935
>Self esteem drops AGAIN
Fucking hell
Let's try to rationalize the horn problem away.
Like this can only help in some cases.
I'm pretty sure southern nobility could dig it.

And you look cute!
>>
>>803880
It felt appropriate u know?

That's what I would do to be honest
>>
>>803952
Anon we aren't Maggie sadly.
We're her guiding inner voices
Her conscience.
We give her ideas and with high enough rolls at the right time can have effects on her emotions
>>
>>803958
Lets look on the bright side
We can commission a baller hat to cover them up
>>
>>803942
Um wow excuse me but no they look terrible, with the eyes you'll probably get mistaken for a demon now. And they're not cute. Cute is a smooth clear forehead, uninterrupted by beastly growths.
>>
>>803970
>Look at the bright side
All I see is darkness

But seriously I'm fine just try not to upend Maggie's emotional state?
There are enough fires.
I'd rather you didn't drop napalm everywhere.
>>804000
Actually the eyes are kind of cool.
And with the horns it's kind of an exotic look
>>
>>803935
We need to go home
Spend time with our friends to get back to normal, maybe throw a small party on our property outside the city
>>
>>804036
Wait remember why we came here?
>>804000
Ask if we can finally have our necklace back.
>>
>>804040
You ask for your necklace back, she says she's a little disappointed by the change, it wasn't as much as she'd hoped or was led to believe, but she can't deny you and brings her tail around for you to take it off.

Having it back is one thing though, but explaining what it is, is another. That, she actually knows you aren't ready for yet.

When you go to leave though, she asks if you're really intent on leaving and heading out like you are. Prodding, she asks at this rate honestly, why not just go ahead and complete the transition. Make things so much easier in the long run.
>>
>>804040
Fuck that
We're depressed as fuck
We need to lighten up as soon as possible before Mags tries anything
>>
>>804051
The entire reason we got horns was for that amulet.
It'd be retarded to just leave it.
>>804048
Change into our travelers cloak.
Make sure the hood is up.
>>
>>804048
Oh and grab the amulet.
We did come here for it.
>>
Against her prodding you get dressed, get the necklace and head out. The guards and warden try to ask what happened and you find Richard waiting there to collect you and take you home, apparently he'd been waiting there the whole time since you went missing so to speak.

So, home then?
>>
>>804104
Yes I guess.

What happens when you put magic energy into an item? A regular one?
>>
>>804133
Should we show him our horns?
>>
>>804146
Nah not yet.
Maybe some other time.
We definitely aren't visiting our parents though.
>>
>>804133
It will have some magical energy in it which will bleed off overtime, fairly quickly most like.

Anyway you get home, to find a big commotion as Avor and Rafe, and Julien are all worried sick but happy to see you and that you're alright, relieved. Avor though sniffs at you and gets giddy and says you're different.
>>
>>804181

You channel energy into it but nothing happens beyond the inscription glowing.

Anyway you take down your hood to show them. Avor shrieks with joy and hugs your legs with glee, while Rafe thinks it's kind of cool and jumping off Avor's head clamors up to your shoulders and tries to pull on your horns.

Julien is the most taken aback at first, not in a good or bad way, just clearly not expecting it as he sits down for a bit to let it sink in. Eventually he approaches, and asks if you're feeling alright, not physically but about the way things are going for you.

Alicia is downstairs still, busy and only hears Rafe shouting down that you grew horns, she just shouts back up good for you.
>>
>>804301
>No
Go to our room and sleep for the rest of the day
>>
>>804312
Well it's night time but you shrug them off and go to bed.

Garfield's presence doesn't help much, neither do the nightmares you keep losing sleep over.

---

You awaken the next day late into the morning, and guess the others to have had breakfast already. As usual Julien probably left you some though.
>>
>>804354
Wait what does the inscription say?
Read it aloud
>>
>>804354
Lets go have breakfast and tell Alicia about Richard
>>
>>804354
We also need to show our horns to Charles
>>
>>804361
It's in dragon, you can't read it.
>>
>>804449
Wow it's in a dying language and we know only one person that can read it.
Fucking damnit.

Well guess we need to visit her again.
>>
>>804457
That's what she said she wasn't going to help you with because she knows you're not ready yet.
>>
>>804476
Well time to go through all the books we have on dragons to see if we have anything pertaining to their language.
Failing that we have another trip to the library to make.

You tell Alicia about Richard. She says as long as he doesn't pose a threat to her she doesn't mind. She does say though if it were her, she wouldn't want to get involved with religious folks. It becomes a slippery slope that you end up sliding down.

>>804439
When do you want to go to Charles and show him?

>>804542

You try and fail to discern anything about the dragon language. There's some provided examples of script but no translations. You assume to encounter the same barrier at the library, maybe examples of it but not translations or how to learn it.
>>
>>804588
Right now, we need to know if he's still ok with our agreement
>>
Rolled 60 (1d100)

A couple inches?
One inch?

Also let's try seeing if we can find any bookstores that might have the relevant text
>>
>>804610
About three inches. They're not exactly pointy either but they are kind of wide.

>60

You can keep looking but this isn't something you're really going to find unless you can locate some sort of specialist on the matter. You know, the sorts of folk who hunt down dragons or things related to them.

Anyway you can stop by Charles's place. How do you want to approach the matter with him though?
>>
Rolled 49 (1d100)

You show him and look sad, he laments and holds you close and asks what you've done and says don't worry he'll take care of you.
>>
>>804713
Oh yes we forgot our travelers cloak.
Let's go get that after we finish talking to Charles.

Even with the traveler's cloak, you can pass through a crowd, but not talk to people face to face without them noticing.

You could get the holy badge, but not everyone will know what it is, or think you're not a demon that stole it. Or maybe it's just fake.
>>
>>804761
I live how they think a demon will just walk around undisguised.
Flawless logic
>>
>>804777
>live

>>804761
Anyways do we know where Richard is?
We need to talk to him.

Also how stronk are we now?
>>
>>804777
Demons do shit like that they don't give a fuuuck.

>>804786
Richard is available if you need him, you can he's usually helping out at the cathedral.

As for how strong, you noticed a little bit of bulk increase but not like huge gains. You still made more progress by working out.
>>
>>804865
Wait a minute.
I remember why the fae are hated.
They consort with demons.

Anyways let's promise Charles we'll stay safe and tell him about the whole Martin Garlan thing.
>>
>>804892
He says that's good of you that you're seeking a faithful avenue. He hopes that doesn't mean you ending up at a convent though. You get the impression he still wants to go for a roll in the hay with you so to speak, so you turning more religious would prevent that.
>>
>>804916
Okay let's bid him farewell and find Richard.
when do we get to save the poor human idiot the Queen of Elphame chose as a husband that she will sacrifice most likely after a year?
And does Elphame still have time fuckery that puts you out of synch with time when you enter?
>>
>>804931
You don't know about no queen, but by the stories them Fair Folk have been known to distort time. You remember a story your traveling uncle told you about a man sneaking his way to the Land of the Forever Young, and when he returned many centuries had passed and in an instant he aged to ashes upon touching the ground.

Anyway you head to the cathedral where you see Richard working a bread line for the invalid and poorly. He asks what he can do for you as your loyal servant.
>>
>>805025
>Well I need your help. I need to find an expert on the written language of the dragons. It's necessary for something I'm looking into.
>>
>>805040
He's a religious adherent, not much of an academic. He says from what he would know however, he assumes the Order of the Dragon would have material on that, and of course various orders of St. Garlan.
>>
>>805073
>Order of the Dragon? I've never heard of that. Where would I find them?
Please let them not hate dragons
>>
>>805103
He says they're to the east of the continent, went into decline after the Selden Empire invaded. Some of them are still around but they're not what they used to be.

They're not hostile to dragons, they revere them. He thinks you'd do well not to get involved with them though, symbolically you'd be valuable to them and they'd try and marry you to a prince or king and then throw you up to be carried around by a crusade.
>>
>>805134
>How long is the travel. I need the information and I'd rather not deal with the order of Garlan.
>>
>>805144
To the east? A few months probably, and dangerous too if you don't know the way.
>>
>>805185
With a horse going as fast as possible?
Are there shortcuts?
Can we cut through forests?
>>
>>805218
On your own, on a horse at riding pace? Maybe a month then, longer if you're going blind and just "heading east". Shortcut would be through the mountains, but you don't want to do that.

He supposes you could go south and charter a boat maybe, but that would still require some travel once you hit land.
>>
>>805258
>How much time would it take if I charter a boat.

>Well do you have the directions to the order?
>>
>>805272
If you go by boat, the same probably about a month but it'd be easier since you'd be let off a lot closer, rather than trying to find your way overland.

He wouldn't know the way since he doesn't think they have a set location anymore, at best they'd be staying upon the grace of one of the still standing monarchies out that way. They're also not exactly a religious order, more just a knightly one so he's only familiar with their deeds.
>>
>>805327
>Okay then I know where I'm heading. Are you going to come as well?
If he is he should get ready
Then we should go to school and tell nera we'll be out for longer then our normal break
>>
>>805346
Are we really doing this Nondescript?
Are going just for the amulet?
>>
>>805394
>Just for the amulet.
Well firstly it's winter break.
We have time.
We have to solve this.
And the dragoness will probably only tell us if we mutate more or some shit.
>>805327
What would it even take for her to consider us ready to know?
>>
>>805346
If you need his protection he'll accompany you. He wants you to wait though till he receives word back from his order and then more support is given.

Either way you head back to school to tell Nera this, she also recommends against it, since you're already behind on classes. Taking something like two more months out, will put you severely behind.
>>
>>805410
She said she wants to see scales on you, otherwise you're not ready she thinks.

Fucking dying languages.
This is almost as bad as puzzles written entirely in latin
>>805418
What's our phenotype percentage at?
>>
>>805419
Dragon items maybe, but not the language. There are a few in the secure wing, but nothing language related.

>>805423
Richard isn't stupid, he'll probably figure out what's up. Interestingly though, Fera is from that region of the continent so for her it would be like going home.

>>805432
Phenotype is at 22%
>>
>>805455
So 3% more and we're probably getting scales.
>Is seriously contemplating burning more of our human body.
WHY DOES SHE TORMENT US SO?
Let's just go to the smithy couple.
We should help them make more magic items.
It's only fair
>>
>>805469
She wants what she's always wanted for you.

Anyway, to the smithy couple! They're a little alarmed to see you at first, but when they laughingly ask you to promise you're not a demon, they're more accepting of it and before long it doesn't bother them.
>>
>>805455
Im guessing she knows her way around?
Would he agree to stay while we go?
We have a pretty solid squad to be honest, Alicia, Aea who knows how to shoot, Tora

but no Arachne
>>
>>805478
Would he try anything on Fera when he finds out?
>>
>>805478
>She wants what she's always wanted for you
You mean to entirely burn away our humanity and become a dragon?

>Promise we aren't a demon
>No I'm a dragonling
Then
Ask if they need more help making magic item
>>
>>805480
Well around that region of the continent, yes. She hasn't been there in some years though, she fled west after the Seldens invaded.

As for the others, Alicia is invested in you so would go anywhere you do. Aea though you doubt she'd want to go and Tora would be hard to travel so far with.

Richard will do as you bid him to though, if you want him to stay because you trust your hired help more, he'd accept that. He wouldn't like it but he'd accept it.

>>805486
That's hard to tell, you could ask him. From your guess though if he found out, at the very least he would force her on her way, if not punish her as well. Probably stop by the nearest church and put her in their charge.
>>
>>805497
Sure they'll always take help if they can get it, and they're happy to have you along with them.

If you want to though you'll have to roll.
>>
Rolled 7 (1d100)

>>805513
Rollan

So does this mean we can officially make magic items?
>>
Rolled 55 (1d100)

>>805527
>>
>>805513
So is the roll because our magic is random?
Or is making a magic item like a ritual and the effects are stable and we're just a novice at it.
>>
>>805559
Ao wut we doin nondescript?
We stayin or we goin?
Im down for both but i would prefer staying cuz we're behind on our classes
>>
>>805568
We're staying.
Ironically enough shredding more of our human body is safer and faster.
>>
>>805527
No you can't make magic items. You know half of it the enchanting half, but it takes a knowledge of actually creating the item as well as the enchanting. You know how to sew so you could make magic simple clothing, but you couldn't make a magic sword because you don't know how to smith. To do something like that you'd need someone with magic skill to make the item in question, in this case the wife and the husband each take care of one half of the requirement to the process.

>>805555
>55

You enchant the item in question and together with the husband create it just fine, another job well done!

>>805559
In this case random like your magic. If you roll high you could end up making the item very much magical.

>>805575
That may be true but it's also not ADVENTURE.
>>
>>805575
You sure that's ok for our self-esteem?
>>
>>805599
Oh then we need a blacksmithing teacher.
And does the person making the physical object have to know magic?
Or is it one needs the magic the other needs the crafting skill and then one can be created.

If it's the former then damn.
>>805611
Stop rolling for panic attacks then.
I'm sure that'd help.
>>
>>805599
Hey op, is there any chance of us getting divine enlightenment to design a bolt action rifle? Like we get the idea to pop into our head out of nowhere and we only need to write it down
>>
>>805632
I don't think so cause then we'd be OP as shit.
That'd be awesome though.
>>805599
Can we make a Sniper rifle/rail gun fueled by magic cells(that eat up lots of power)
It'd make a good insta-gib weapon
>>
>>805621
They need to know how to differently create an item in order for it to be magic, and have some magic themselves.

>>805632
Not out of the blue. If you found a god of war or the forge, or a battle or arms muse you might be able to be struck by inspiration for something which is appropriate to the time.

Or like, you glimpse through time or to some other dimension and see the invention and just copy it.

>>805638
It depends what it would shoot. You have to realize though that Mags has basically no understanding or experience with guns.
>>
>>805709
Can we magic weave a window to the future? Open a window to the front lines of a war in the distant future and copy the weapons we see
>>
>>805709
Ideally it would be a high speed solid projectile maybe aether? Or maybe just snipe them with lightning.
Can we make aether armor with an earth attribute so it can stop bullet fire?
Bullets are a pain.
>>
>>805749
You technically could but that's in the same vein as time manipulation, which is dangerous.

>>805776
Well something like that yeah.

Solid aether if you shot it, the bullet would just vaporize upon contact before it passed through.
>>
>>805787
What about ice?
Or better yet.
High pressure air bullets?
It's a super air gun
>>
>>805787
But we wouldn't be messing with time, we're not taking anything physical from the future/past and if we do get access to a weapon it would be exclusive to us, we would only release the blueprints decades after we die/go full dragon

Sorry some confusion there, I was referring to solid aether as in, if you shot a gun at it, the lead bullet would vaporize upon contact and not pass through.

As for shooting projectile made of it, the problem would be what you're shooting it out of, since it would just melt through any gun or ballista you loaded it into.

>>805806
You are taking something from the future/past, you're observing it and taking knowledge.
>>
>>805806
Wouldn't it alter the flow of time to introduce tech before it should exist?
Knowing about the future can alter the future.
Plus rifles shouldn't even be around even decades from now
>>
>>805814
I mean make a gun out of magic.
Or some other form for launching projectiles.
>>
>>805814
Is there any illusion spells that can make an object look different?
I dunno, make it look like a pitch black ball, we could say its magic exclusive to us
>>
>>805819
That might be possible yeah.

>>805826
I'm not sure what you mean here, but it would be possible to disguise an item as something else.
>>
>>805870
So let's do it.
Make a magic sniper rifle
>>
>>805879
Ok, how? Out of what? Where is the idea coming from?
>>
>>805903
Do we know what a musket looks like?
We've been in gun stores.
>>
>>805908
You sort of know what one looks like from what you've seen soldiers carry.
>>
>>805870
Can we make it look like a ball of light? Or something like that?
>>
>>805599
Lets go see Fera and let Richard continue working
>>
>>806484
Ok but I don't get *what* you're trying to make look like a ball of light.

>>807033
Yeah sure. For now you excuse yourself from Richard and go to see Fera. When you get there she lets you in, you see she's doing some washing. Sadly you show her the horns, but her immediate reaction you sense, is excitement, and she emotes as much. The first thing she asks, is if she can touch them? She thinks it an exotic look and rather fierce/prominent, like an inner beast breaking out.
>>
>>807237
The gun we would make/take from the future bby

Get a self-esteem boost b cuz Fera is happy about them then hug her
>>
>>807319
Oh sure, you could make it look like something else.

Anyway you hug her and she's a little surprised, and says it's nice to see you too, but what's that for?
>>
>>807331
Cuz we depressed as fuck and be bcuz you like them and aren't weirded out by them
>>
>>807353
She says of course she likes them, they're part of you. She's sorry to hear you're feeling glum though, and asks if there's anything she can do to help? At the very least let her fix something up for you, let you kick back and relax.
>>
>>807389
We need to general la idea by Gerardo thats what we need
Lets tales her up on her offer
>>
>>807514
I didn't understand any of that.
>>
>>807389
I meant
We need to get fucking laid by Fera that's what we need but i know Mags wouldn't be down for that

Lets just hang out, take her up on her offer

I ran out of internet and Autocorrect had a stroke
>>
>>807830
Well make up your mind by next thread, which I'll try to have up tonight.
>>
And I'm alive again.
After we talk to fera we need to get to gains.
Serious gainz in all aspects.
Start studying heavily in all our subjects magic included.
We need to into Blacksmithing and refine our Weaving.
Exercise as always.
And maybe get into alchemy as well.

But we should firstly get to a loom or some shit.
I have an idea for our nightmares
I'm in a fuck relationships get gainz mood
>>
>>807865
Kk bby
>>
>>807872
Well for what it's worth, the happier Mags is, the greater gains she'll make.

Like if she's just awful, dismal depressed and miserable like she kind of currently is, then she won't make much progress. If she's super duper happy, gains will flow like the Nile.
>>
>>807888
Well obviously we need to throw a picnic followed with a night getting drunk.
She can forget shit
>>
>>807896
>Picnic at our property outside the city
>Alcohol
>Friends
>FERA
Nice one Nondescript, im down
>>
>>807896
That would cheer her up but it's like a quick fix to a big problem.

To be clear, a relationship also won't just make everything suddenly good and fix all the problems, so not like I'm trying to push that over not. Though it would cheer her up more than a picnic probably, but of course there's any number of ways to improve her feelings.

Either way Mags is suffering some deep seated problems and though she's coping with them, she's not in a great place, the mutations the cherry on top of the depression sunday.
>>
>>807924
Then we should probably just spend a month venting to a friend.
That with positive reinforcement from them should help.
>>
>>807924
What would cheer her up on the long run? Would visiting Astrea be enough?
>>
>>807932
That would definitely help yeah.

>>807945
Currently she's feeling problems like not being comfortable with her life and her body. Not that she's disappointed, but uncomfortable. Everything is moving so fast, she's always so busy, so many complicated things in her life pulling at her in all directions, and for her body obviously it's physically and drastically changing in ways that are damaging to her self esteem and personal image.

It's all so unexpected, all so difficult, all so sudden. Finding ways to deal with the problems she faces with her life or her body, would help in different ways. Probably the two biggest fixes for each though, would be slowing down in her life, and accepting and feeling good about her body and herself again. There are other possible solutions to these problems of course, but these would be the most pertinent ways. And fixing both would be amazing, but even just one or the other would be great too.

Considering all of this, you have to remember that it's been less than a year and all of this has happened, to Mags who before being cast out was not but a simple maid and before that just a peasant farm girl. In a year her world became more huge and complicated than she could possibly imagine, and without any of the tools to deal with it, and perhaps worst of all, she can't even find stability or rely on herself, because even that is changing now with the mutations. Nothing is stable for her anymore, and with instability comes stress (what you've seen in threads before this), depression (what you're seeing now), regret (what you'll see if things continue to progress), and worse potentially if nothing is done.
>>
>>807982
Okay then when the next thread is up I'll have my reworked schedule to allow Mags to have some time to vent.
Probably to Aea as she seems the most laidback.

I'm wiping most of our study time and focusing mostly on R&R
>>
>>807982
Well, Fera seems to be the best candidate to get us back to normal seeing how she's so supportive of us when we showed her our mutations/Backstory, she could help us come to terms with our changes
And we also need that picnic
>>808002
Why not both?
We're good friends with both
>>
>>808014
Fine both is fine.
>>
>>807982
Can we make pajamas that will protect our mind from outside influences?
Like the asshole giving us nightmares?
>>
>>808082
It seems that could be possible but it would be quite hard because as you saw dream magic is difficult and dangerous. Maybe easier to like, get a bed with curtains and proof them from just outside influence rather than just dreams.

>>808046
Fera and Aea are both viable possibilities. Aea is generally pretty easygoing and you know you can have fun with her like going out to drink or something. Fera also likes Mags for however she is and can make her feel better as much as you'll let her.

It's worth noting though, Mags does know other people just outside the immediate "family", she also has school mates and whatnot. Maybe even people outside the capitol? Who knows.

Probably not the dragoness though, you know by now she's the sort to toss you in the deep end for you to learn to swim.
>>
>>808119
But I suspect it's a living creature that's doing this fuckery.
I basically just want a pajamas that functions like a counter spell to their dream magic.
Just nullify it.
>>
>>808119
Where's Lisbeth and our other school friends at? Are they still here?
I kinda want to go visit Astrea but I rather stay here
>>
>>808127
Null is probably a bit much but you could certainly do antimagic, that's easier to learn than null magic.

>>808140
Most of the student body have gone home or away from the school for the recess. You know at least of your roommates though that Maeyal is staying. You could always go to see who else, if any.
>>
>>808152
We'll check after we're done with Fera
How long until the next thread bby?
>>
>>808152
So would three weeks of venting relaxing talking and leisure make her happier?
Would it give us bonus modifiers for our gainz and actions?
>>
>>808196
Right here

>>808436
>>
>>808439
Also as usual, if someone would archive this thread.

Also a new consideration, but if someone would post in the /qtg/ about the new thread? Maybe attract some more interest.

I'd post in it myself, but I already posted for my other quest, so can't do it for this one because then it would reveal which quest that was.
