You are Gunnar Erling and you have a dream. Not of one of becoming a great warrior or mage, not becoming a great leader or general, as most of your people, the Norden, would ply to become.

You want to own a rail empire in earnest, stretching from your hometown Wurzhof and across all of Rumenia.

Around thirty minutes ago, you just got funding to build the first railway in the region for Wurzhof Steel, the largest steel-maker in the city and it must be built by years end: 8 months.

Thankfully, the route is short, only 100 km but getting started will be hard as you don't have a workforce needed to build the rail line.

Your first order of business is to post ads in busy areas of the city to advertise employment but you have a thought, should you try to find managers first or manage it all yourself?

>Manage it all yourself

This will save us money, allow us to gain experience and otherwise be advisable for the short term. Once the line is running we can see about getting a few managers, though we will need to find a engineer and such for the train.

You decide to manage everything yourself, mostly to gain some experience and to save money but only in the short term.

With the ads put up for work, you head home and get a good night of sleep.

Once up, you find your mailbox filled with at least 250 responses. Seems like the workforce needed will be easily attained.

---
As you head out for breakfast, you wonder if you should check out the route of the line first hand and maybe make a layout of how the railhead might be done, just in case expansion is needed.

You also could try and research what type of engine you should buy for the route.

Lastly, you muster up the thought of something you didn't really want to do but you must: you will eventually have to incorporate your business or else if something goes wrong, it's you who gets shafted.

You could choose to do any of these things or none at all and do something else.

Let's go inspect the route, preferably after finding out about the different types of engine we could get. The route will effect the engine and the engine will effect the route.

Agreeing with this. Best to see what the options are before fully committing to the merge.

It's be helpful to see what the terrain is because even a short route would get pretty expensive if a lot of blasting needs to be done

See if we can set up ancillary meetings with some of the smaller companies, maybe do some shady business by having them provide labor and other materials while we cut them some profit as well, making the entire thing overall cheaper

Sorry, I've been sick the past couple of days. I should've said something but I'll be back soon-ish. Maybe with a new thread but I think I should let this one continue.
