You can't help but wonder, through the muddle of sleep haze and overwork, if there is a god of sleep, and just what it would take to get their blessing.

An offering of pillows?
Some sort of sleep ritual?

It's an investment you would make without regret. Without blinking.

Tragically though, it is morning, and after sleeping away a day in the wake of your smithing efforts, your body is no longer willing to let you pass the hours in the grips of dreams.

You consider the downsides of having Nin knock you unconcious over a healthy breakfast of the largest thing the guild has caught in the past few days.

You could delay your plans a few days, couldn't you? Surely it wouldn't hurt. There's no real rush outside of your own impatience-
Cutlery being too much effort in your present state, your plate and effects have been left unused, and you've flopped yourself across the table, your head resting on a neat patch of tighly wound silk, and your breakfast within.

You turn your head, rolling facedown atop your breakfast, and slurp a little more as you weigh your options.

"- Lyra? Hello?"

Voices reach your ears- One voice, anyway- and you turn your head again to face the noise.

"Hello, yes."
"Have you heard anything I've said?"
"Hello, yes."

Ren taps a sheaf of paper against her hand with a somewhat weary expression on her face.

"That's a no, then?"
You grunt affirmation, and she sighs.

"I'll keep this short, then. What is that? Those?"

You blink slowly, each pair of your eyes making a slow descent and pausing, struggling to return to their raised state.

>Breakfest, yes.
>You could definitely sleep the day away. It's only a little dust.
>Rally! You can... probably have a conversation. You can get your head off the table, at least.

So, what are we going to name the spear that got the God of the Forge's dick hard because it was fucking awesome in every way and made by an Arachne on the Fast-track to becoming a God or at least an Immortal herself and is only 6 months old?

Lyra's Blood
>>
>>765132

It's simultaneously blunt, bland, literal, and yet fancy.

The Forest Blood, a weapon of legends

>>
Surprised no one suggested Longinus yet, with all the blood and all. But then again, that could be too heretical.

>>
>>765142
>>765147

>>
>>765142
>>765147
Queen Lyra, wielder of the Forest Blood.

A new title to the collection?
>>
I'm partial to Bear Bonker. The fact that it is a spear and not a bludgeon, as well as not sounding regal or epic enough to fit Nin's fancy in the least, adds to the name's charm.
>>
>>765137
It is bound to us since we used our blood to forge. If we left it unbloid forged, then it could absorb friendblood. Now it cant.
>>
>>765168
>>765142

Well, I guess if Physical Immortal Godhood isn't Lyra's thing, she could always become a Great One.

"Fear the Forest Blood Lawrence, By the Spiders FEAR IT!"
>>
>>765168
Nin should add that to the list of Lyra's titles. All in favor of moth bullying REQM into doing it?
>>
>>765065
It's made with blood.
We're spider.
Spiders work by pneumatic blood.

So we call it Pneumatic Piercer and leave everybody mystified so as to what the fuck "pneumatic" is.
>>
>>765182
I am up for this.
Or lyras blood.
Or bear bonker.

Something blunt and not very witty, said in spider language
>>
Or, be truly blunt and unsubtle and just call it 'The Blood-spear'. Because in the end it's a giant unsubtle weapon designed to deliver sheer raw force, and it was made with blood.

the other shiny spear can get a fancy name instead.
>>
I like the ''Forest blood''. It sounds more epic. A weapon for a true Queen.
>>
>>765206

We should name it something a third spiderspeech, a third elfspeech, a third common tounge.
>>
Okay maybe Blood of the Earth? Blood of the Stone Spider?

Because both metaphorical earthblood i.e. magma as well as literal blood.
>>
>>765211
Linguist hate her!

One weird trick
>>
>>765206

I like the opposite.

Big, huge, virtually unbreakable main-spear that we use for everything that isn't finesse or subtle gets a fancy name and is our main weapon.

Delicate(Comparatively) fancy spear with enchantments and is otherwise beautiful and a master piece gets a blunt and simple name.

Although, because of our rolls in actually making this spear, it's probably fukken beautiful to look at anyway, Lyra has a flare for detail after all.
>>
>>765217
I would like to name it something like "Vow of Protection", because it reminds me of how Lyra more than once promised she'll "bleed dry before she let anyone harm her" about Nin and Jin.
>>
I'm just waiting for Ezzy to evolve. She's gotta be bigger, right?

Good thing she didn't include Sheszka in that, or the quest would have been over several times.

It's the third spear. What about calling it Third?
>>
>>765258
Nah, hydraulics are great. They're what all the load bearing legged robotics use
>>
Hands move slowly, arms lifting them inch by inch, your chitin clicking softly as you bring them above the table.

Your palms flatten against the rough wood, and you brace as your muscles start to push, willing your body to rise.

You hold the pose for a few seconds before you let your arms drop back beneath the table, your face rolling into the silk again for another mouthful of breakfast.

You roll away, eyes meeting Ren's as you repress a yawn.

"Breakfast, yes."

The secretary pinches the bridge of her nose.

"That is not- I am not talking about your eating habits."
"I put it in web. So I don't have to chew."
"I am not- You are wearing a log. Why are you wearing a log."

Your brow knits as you process this information.

"I do not own a log, yes. And you can't wear a log. Wood is not clothing. I think? Do not tell Elle."
Ren stares at you a moment longer before she steps neatly over your legs, making her way closer to your body, where she reaches out and lifts something from your neck- A thick and rough seeming length of brown and red and black.

"Lyra, what is this?"

You prod the length of whatever with a slow moving finger until irritated hissing emerges from somewhere beneath your mass of unkempt hair.
You should probably bathe at some point. You're essentially fifty percent chimney at this point, going by the amount of soot on you.

"It seems to be Ezzy, yes. Esmerelda."
"She was a lot smaller before."
"Yes."
"You don't seem concerned."

"She will be very happy later."
"And now?"
"Now she is asleep."
"And you're not going to wake her up?"
"I want to be asleep too, yes."

She shuffles her papers again, tapping them all into order and holding them against her chest before she replies.

"Are you feeling well?"
"I am very tired."
"I didn't think forging something, even overnight, would affect an arachne to this point."
"It took a lot of blood, yes."

"You- Wait, you forged something from blood steel?"
"Yes?"
"Just- You- I'll have them send more food, idiot."
"More food?"
"You need to eat to replenish blood."
"Okay."

The secretary stalks away, apparently to see to your well being and also your stomach.

The dream of a tiny animal death arena cannot be allowed to die.

Where will she sleep though? Around the edge of the skull? Wrapping around whatever is closest on lyra? Are we going to be carrying around a torso snake instead of a neck snake?

She seems to still fit just fine on Lyra's neck, about a big scarf sized relatively?

>>

>>
>>765450
It really depends on her human-parts. I imagine Ezzy to look late teens in my head. All of our party is young, after all.
>>
>>765450
>>765454
We sort of already had ezzy being proud of showing off her new adult body, so i think she has some considerable assets
>>
>>765408

>>
I hope reqm is ok, every other response here I think its him and get exited for a moment. Stop teasing me!
>>
>>765599

REQM is an ambush predator, if you keep looking for him you will never find him.
>>
>>765599
Every response except you IS reqm changing ip.
>>
With other people apparently looking after your health, and absolved of any adult-like responsibility, you turn your efforts to the natural response to the current series of events.

Which is, specifically, examing your newly evolved friend before she wakes up.

You feel certain, that, at some point, maybe in the future, your focus on sating your own curiousity will at some point bite you in the ass.
As the saying goes, Curiousity killed the cat.

But the rest of the saying- Satisfaction brought it back- is pretty important, you think.

Also, cats aren't giant spiders. And anything that tries to bit you in the ass will discover that your ass is large, and heavily armoured.
That'll teach them.

And with that sort of unshakeable logic girding your mind, you proceed to enlighten yourself to Esmerelda's changes.

Her scales protrude away from her now, giving her an oddly spiky appearance- They're still glossy though, and colourful now to boot. She's certainly larger, but 'Log' might be a bit much. Maybe an Ezzy sized log?

You try to wrap your head around quantifying an object with a friends size in order to quantify a friends size with an objectk, and conclude that nothing good can come from this train of thought.

She's a bit thicker than your wrist, and while your brain might now being running at appropriate speeds to take any accurate guess at her length, she has probably added another two feet to her collection.
>>
>>765662
If you let her dangle from your arm she could pretend she was human sized, maybe.
Only if they count the snake bits.
She really is getting long.

Her human body is roughly child sized now. Small child sized.
Still proportioned to her age- It's odd, and you can't help but giggle around a mouthful of something slurry- She really is just a sort of tiny adult. Like someone shrunk her.

A thought strikes your mind, and you raise your head-

Alright, you turn your head, and rest your chin on your breakfast so you can look forwards.

Nin is nowhere to be found.
You really could use the moth now- Healing dust is probably exactly what you need. Just a bit on your food, maybe.

You raise your voice- It sounds a bit odd to you know that you listen to it, weak and slow.
You really are unwell, aren't you.

"Nin? Nin, yes?"

You certainly wouldn't consider your attempt loud- Definitely not in the rowdy guild- but it's all it takes to call the moth anyways, hops and fluttering wings in place of running bringing her to your side in moments.

"Lyra? Are you okay? You're calling?"
"No. Yes? I will get better, yes."

She brushes some hair from your face and frowns as she leans in.
"You- You're still so pale."
"I do not tan easily, I think."
"Sick pale. I'm going back, okay? Don't worry."

You make an attempt at a nod, tilting your head forwards and to one side.

"Yes. Can I have some dust, please?"
She snorts. "You're only asking now? I've been mixing it into your food, yes."

She pats your head gently before she flutters away again.
"Thank you, yes." You murmur as you turn back to your food.
Hopefully she heard.

I like it. Lyra ha to name it in spider-language though so when people ask about it she just replies with clicking and hissing.
>>
>>765869
My thought process was that it took the blood of a giant spider to make, and takes the strength of a giant spider to wield.

Not to mention the added hilarity that Aria's group thinks that Lyra is Seranthis sized, after all of her stories.
>>
>>765860
I don't like it. It sounds cool but the spear has nothing to do with Seranthis.

Well if we take it to him Mabel he could envenome it then it would fit its not like were done with the thing yet we dont have any enchantments on it yet
>>
>>765920
Enough with the guy. Besides, the spear is meant to have strength enchantments only, so no poison enchantment would work anyway. simply covering it in venom wouldn't last long either as it gets used up, not to mention we almost never use venom on spears due to desire to share food.

The morning- or afternoon, as it may be at this point. Or that point.
The point is that the day is blurring slowly into a string of vaguely concious conversations, punctuated by a happy amount of food.

You were eventually roused by Nin and Ren when they noticed that the food wasn't slowly disappearing, and that rather then eating your current wrap, you were just using it as a pillow.

You were encouraged to go back to bed and let yourself heal, but your brain has, for whatever reason, fixated on a bath.
And, you reasoned, you can sleep in a bath. You've done it before, you think.

So you descended into the baths, where you came face to face with your true opponent:
Stone cubby-holes, helpfully offered to hold clothing and gear while one cleans themself.

You stopped and glared, and even bared your teeth at them, to no avail. Your clothing remains on your body.

Eventually, your friends helped.

Sheszka passes Ezzy to Nin, who dips a little under the snakes newfound weight. Jin directs the yeti to undo your clothing, each piece being dropped neatly into one of the hateful cubbies.

And then they lead you to the water, and you move out into the baths until the depth is up over your waist, and you find a convenient lip to rest yourself on.

You may have made it. It certainly seemed to come out of nowhere.

Your friends busy themselves behind you, scrubbing you down, brushing out your hair till it floats out into the water like a spreading cloud of ink. You close your eyes and let the warmth- metaphorical and literal alike- lull you off to sleep.

You can still feel, dimly, the light tug of a brush in your hair, a warm cloth scrubbing at your chitin.

It seems very quiet in the baths, and your mind drifts off to the source of all of this.

Your spear.
Your new weapon, resting gently against the wall in your room, so close by. Waiting.

You can almost feel it. You hand closes on empty air, and you remember the feeling of carrying it from the forge, the weight and feeling of the metal under your fingers, the way it dipped forward in your exhaustion, the sight of it catching sunlight, the solid feeling of it.

It needs a name.

The thought bubbles up from somewhere, and though you can't imagine why, it feels right.
It needs a name.

It isn't... complete. Not yet.

But what should you call it?
You haven't done anything with it yet. It's fresh forged, without even a single mark marring its blade.
It's only a matter of time, really, but-

If there's nothing to name it after, it's up to you, isn't it?
Should it be something simple? Something complicated? Something to name a legend after, or a word spoken in reverence?
Spoken in your own language? Or your father's or the human's tongue?

It's a pity you can't write in arachne. Maybe just the forest language?
Do you need to carve the name into the weapon?

As hard as it is, you feel so sure it would be easy.

No, the spear is made for only one specific Arachne, Lyra, due to blood. So she can use whatever language she damn likes to name it with.
>>
>>766136
Problem with Arachne is that only our family will ever understand the name we give it, or even be able to repeat it themselves. At least with the Forest tongue most humans will be able to mimic the name properly.
>>
>>766198
The original name is in Arachne, but it can be translated in any language. The funny part is if some scholar or noble tries to day the name of the weapon ''properly'' trying to please the queen.
>>
>>766198
but the spear is not meant for them, the only people that could possibly have use of it will be the only ones able to speak it's name. Even though due to bloodsteel it will always be best in Lyra's hands.

Forest had a strong start, but was overcome by Arachne in the end!
Simple started strong, and Epic tried to catch up but just couldn't over come the lead!

Lyra has a habit of promising to protect people, she basically promised every single of her friends either to them and/or to others she'd protect them. And ultimately her weapon is for defeating things that would threaten them. So its a Promise. Of protection for them, and of doom for anyone threatening them.

Nothing, we made no promises for making this spear, or any promises related to it. Some people just have their own vision of what it could be used for.

>>
I like Unyielding too. I prefer ''Forest Blood'' but I don't care that much.

That seems to be the purpose of Blood forging it. It's intimately linked to us and only we can wield it.

>>766442
actually other people can technically wield it, but it levels with us and, quite honestly, is too heavy for like 99% of people to wield.

Now that the naming is over, I've been re-reading the charsheet for more hints on the mystery ability:
????? ?????????????
My current guess is:
Metal Transmutation

It's one of the few words I can think of that fits the 5 letter and 13 letter words, and relate to her new class. Basically, since her 'Voice of Rule' and 'Armoured Chitin' are both from the 'Tyrant' part of 'Hearthbound Tyrant Arachne', then there's gotta be an ability for the 'Hearthbound' part as well. So I figure it's metal related somehow. Still not totally sure though since there are many other 13 letter words.
>>
>>766877
I just want to see something happen, names be damned. Lyra's gotten up and walked to the bath. That's it.
>>
I mean, a promise is saying that you'll see something through to completion, and that nothing will get in your way. You'll be unyielding in your pursuit.

Whereas Unyielding, by itself, is just not giving up when it comes to anything, promise, or not.

They overlap too much to make sense as a cohesive title.
>>
>>766888

As if I could possibly believe that, there's no way the Hearthbound part is any less important than the Tyrant part as well. Both should be equally important, and merely having metal thread is kinda cheap if that's all the Hearthbound part does.
>>
I want to have a healer or mage take a look at Nin's healing ability.
>>
>>766925
>there's no way the Hearthbound part is any less important than the Tyrant part
But it is? because its just a attachment. Lyra evolved into a Tyrant Arachne. Thats her evolution, the hearthbound comes from her forge blessing, its not as important. Thats just how evolution here works. And it was literally said by REQM back then lyra is a Tyrant arachne.
>>
>>766896
This.

Part of the reason this whole exercise has been so dissapointing is because none has been able to come up with a really fitting and good name for our spear.

I'd rather we just leave it anonymous until we can come up with something appropriate instead of slapping a shitty name on it like promise.
>>
>>766925
I think the heartbound part also really helps with our ability to just shoot fire like we do
>>
>>766939
no, it was another combined vote we got two. REQM mentioned a full tyrant would have more tyrant powers and a full hearthbound would also have more additional powers.
>>
Maybe we'll get a bonus scene of whoever needs to clean up lyra's spider dishes out of all this
>>
>>766982
>REQM mentioned a full tyrant would have more tyrant powers
No he didn't, he explicitly said we got the full set of tyrant powers.
>>
>>767002
I'm sorry but you're wrong
>>
>>767031
You can keep deluding yourself but the Blessing names were never as important as the evolutions. But you'll see once we reveal the last power anyway.

>Flat tyrant wouldn't have had the metal-ly bits. Armour looking chitin, taller.
>>
>>767080
?? Yes, because she has the hearthbound title? Where does it say she lost any powers?
>>
>>767080
I misread that quote super hard.

Now I'm thinking of lyra moping because tyrant form made her flat.
>>
>>767084
if I must so help me god I will count being taller as a power.
>>
>>766982
It wasn't combined, Tyrant won and REQM gave a nod to the heartfags and gave her that blessing. Thats it, Hearthbound isn't anymore important than Forgesworn was before that, it certainly didn't matter as much as being a grave arachne.
>>
>>767098
Blessing titles are just that, they indicate your blessing and elemental powers. Nothing more, Forgesworn Grave-Arachne Lyra wasn't as much Forgesworn as she was grave-Arachne.
>>
>>766888
Man I have no fucking guesses.
How do we test if it is metal transmutation anyway?
>>
>>767202
I think if it was some kind of metal manipulation we would have stumbled upon it when we were forging our new spear.

>>767222
transmutation is a very specific kind of thing. Like, have we TRIED making lead into gold?
How could we possibly stumble upon this quality?

You feel better by the time your raise yourself out of the water, stretching carelessly as you wade to the edge of the bath.
You feel warmer all over. You're still tired, but it isn't anywhere near the foot dragging feeling from before.

You'll still need rest, you're sure.
But for now, at least, taking it easy is okay.

You make your way back to your room, friends snoozing behind you- The bath left them sleepy, apparently.
Or maybe the duration of the bath was the problem.

Ezzy has been wound around one of the skull's horns, hissing gently as she rests. Sheszka is pretending to be a small wolf at the moment, restricting her size and shape to fit into the eye socket, while Jin's tail is trailing behind you, probably still in the process of drying.
And Nin is- Nin is snoring very loudly for someone her size.

You open the door and grimace at the mess you've made of your temporary home- soot all over the sheets and floor- You'll have to ask Ren if someone cleans it or if you need to do it yourself.

But you push that to the side for the moment, stepping to your massive spear, lifting it from its place at the wall.

"You want a name, yes?"

There's no reply.

"You haven't earned one, you know? Weapons should be used, and named after what comes after. Like dragon-slayer, or goblin-smasher."

You lean forwards, and press your forehead to the flat of the blade.

"I will make you a promise, yes? I will protect my friends. And my family. All those I wish to keep safe. And you will be my weapon. And for this, just this, we will never yield."

Your voice continues in a whisper, the gentle clicks of your birth language barely audible, even in the silence of the room.

"You will be my Promise Unyielding. Yes."

You flourish the blade as best you can, the unwieldly thing making a noise in the air by size alone as it moves.

A name is only one part of it, right?

There's still the enchant to go, as well.
And while you're out for that, there's the matter of Nin's healing, as well.

You're slowly making your way down your list, like a real adult.
All you have to do is ignore all the time you spent this morning face down in your own food.

You make your way downstairs carefully, the spear at your shoulder.

Ren's nowhere to be found- Probably chasing the guild master around, at this point, if their interactions the other day are anything to go on.
She did say that he'd have to work thanks to your dinner, after all.

Another secretary gives you directions to the mage's tower, and you're out the door.

Only, more sedate than that statement implies.

You take your time as you walk, enjoying the fall air- that crisp feeling as the seasons give way, the cool breeze whispering between the streets of the city.
If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the rush of water from all around.
Maybe this portion of the city is closer to the river.

The tower slowly rises overhear- Not that it's that large, but that you're just walking that slowly, for once.

It looks to be only four or five stories. Sizable, certainly, but you were kind of expecting a tower to reach the clouds, with the constant thunder of magic. And not straight.

Of course, Mages Guild doesn't exactly imply crazed ancient wizards, but you've never let reality get in the way of your expectations yet, and you aren't about to start.

The front door is shut- A classic pair of doors, their tops meeting to make an arch. You approve. And also knock.
>>
>>767821

A young woman opens the door, adjusting a very classical witch hat on head as she leads into what you can only assume is something she's rote memorized.

"Good Afternoon, and welcome to the Mage's Guild. We offer many services for the discerning customer. May we ask the purpose of your visit?"

That's a little... too commercial for your imagination.
The hat is nice, though.

"Good Afternoon, yes. I am here to have my weapon enchanted. And also to have my friend looked at. And to ask questions."
"Enchantments are one of our major jobs, and we will surely have any answers you... seek."

The young lady is now staring up at you.
"Hello, yes."
"Hello. Sorry."
"That is fine, I think."

"Is staring rude? It is, isn't it."
"It is fine, yes."
"I've never seen an arachne before."
"I have seen lots."
"Really? But they're so rare?"
"They are less rare in the forest. And also less rare when most of your family is arachne."

She nods.
"That makes sense."
"Yes."
"Um. Oh! Come in, please. I'll send for one of the magisters, and we'll see to your every need!"

She ushers you into a nicely upholstered hallway and closes the door before dashing down the hall.
You look around and admire the hallway while you wait.

There's a great many paintings all the way to the end of the hall, and a rather plush carpet for a entryway. There's a little cubby for the girl as well, with a glass of water, a book and a carved wooden chair.

You're examining the magelights running along the rounded ceiling when the girl returns with a pudgy, middle aged man in tow.
"Good Afternoon, Miss?"
"Lyra, yes."
"And how can we help you today, Miss Lyra?"

"To start, yes, I would like to have my spear enchanted."
"Of course, miss. Pass it here, and I can have our enchanters examine it while you wait."

You spend a half second moving to hand it to him before you manage to stop yourself.
"Oh. No."

"Pardon, Miss?"
"I can't hand it to you, yes. Can you show me where they will work on it? I will carry it there."
"We don't usually allow people into our workshop, you understand. We like to keep our techniques private."
"I see? But I do not think you can carry my spear."

"It's certainly large, but-"
"It is blood steel, yes. It weighs a bit."
"Ah."

He nods.
"Follow me, please."

Carpet gives way to a stone staircase, and you clatter audibly up the spiral after the man, following close behind.
He passes by a few doors without looking, then knocks patiently at the fourth you reach.

"Come in."

Runes flare and glow across the surface and walls as he uses a crystal at his wrist against the doorhandle, turning it and pushing into the room beyond.

"Good afternoon-"
"Of course, of course. What have you brought me today?"
"This is-"
"That's an arachne."

"Hello, yes."
"Hello to you to. I can't enchant you, you understand."
"I am aware, yes."

"Ahem."
The pudgy man coughs to interrupt before he continues.
"She would like her spear enchanted. It's blood steel."
"That makes more sense. Can't go carving runes into people."
"Of course. Now, Miss-"
"I mean, You could. But then there'd be blood everywhere. And people dying, probably. It's a bad idea, altogether."
"Yes."

"I'll just take my leave. Please return downstairs once you've confirmed your business, Miss Lyra."
The man all but flees the room, leaving you alone with a heavily bearded and probably crazy mage.

"Drop it over here, please."
He gestures to a wide and only partially clean table.
You oblige.

Wood creaks beneath your weapon, and the mage raises his eyebrows appreciatively.
"Damn. Pure blood steel? And you fed it, too."
"Mhm. I am Lyra, yes."
"Tobias. Or Toby is fine. You're the spider from the forest, then?"
"Has everyone heard about that?"

"Probably. That's the thing about merchant towns, you know. Information is just another product. Anyway- As this is, what I can do is rather limited."
"I was told, yes. Only strength enchantments?"
"Something like that. Strength or strengthening."
"They're different?"
"The first works on you, and the second on the weapon."

"I see. Why is it limited like that?"
"The material, you mean? It has to do with the blood, from what I understand. It's something like a ritual, I suppose."
"What does each do?"
>>
>>768528
"Exactly what each sounds like. Strength will make you stronger. And Strengthening will make the weapon tougher, and make it hit a bit harder, it seems."
"And no other enchantments will work?"
"Correct."

You nod.
"Alright. Can I ask you about something else?"
"Such as?"
"My friend is a moth, yes. She has some kind of healing magic, but it leaves her tired-"
"That's normal."
"It's normal?"

He nods, hands sliding over your spear as he checks each section, focussing on a piece before moving to the next.
"There's a few types of healing magic- The divine kind, the sort of divine kind, and the not divine kind."
"Okay."
"Anyway, the not divine kind draws on the user. Uses up bits of life force."
"That's- isn't that bad? That's dangerous!" You can't keep the worry from your voice as you fold your arms.

He shakes his head.
"It's not like you're thinking."
"What? What is it, then?"
"You're thinking of their life like a container or something. And using up your life force is pouring it out."
"And it isn't?"
"It's more like a fire. They can give a bit to another, light another fire. It'll build back up soon enough. It's only a problem if they give to much, and their fire goes out."

"I... see."
"Yeah. So just make sure they don't go overworking themselves, and they'll be fine."
"Thank you."
"No problem. So, what kind of work would you like me doing here?"

Sara heard about their library when she went travelling by herself. She was very dissatisfied with their collection, and took awhile to grasp that she needed to be a student to read them.

And then she was told that she needed to be a senior to read the heavier stuff, which she thought meant the seniors go bring it to the students.
>>
>>768535
Hoohoo, so it's give us strength, or make weapon strong. I think Id rather go fro making the weapon even stronger, so that it's even more unbreakable and unbendable. Mostly cuz this weapon was made with such good rolls that I don't want it to ever break, and I imagine us to fight truly huge monsters with it in the future.

>>
>>768626
>There's still monsters and adventurers out there that are stronger than her too.
Monsters, maybe. But I seriously doubt there is a single non-monster adventurer out there that is physically stronger than Lyra.
>>
nah man we gotta make the spear harder, imagine if you will a fucking meteor falling to the planet; because sara fucked up her spell for the 8th time. and Lyra literally bats that shit away baseball style.
>>
>>768654
A NGE Moiderah moment?
>>
>>768654
My main problem with picking strengthening the spear is that we lack a point of reference for just how strong it is right now, and how much stronger its then.
Its still only Unique level, IIRC, so it will never be THE super strong spear.
>>
>>768636
Man, it's solid blood steel. And given the way REQM was writing about it the pastebin I very much doubt he's going to have Lyra break the thing in twenty threads because of a single lousy roll.
>>
I, for one, am glad we are getting through our checklist before we can go. Regardless of enchantment.
>>
>>768684
But, given that there are still things about it that we don't know, like that '+???' factor:
>>Blood + Black Iron (Strong, Heavy, +???. Strength Enchants Only.)
I want to see what happens when you empower the weapon even further. I mean, in RPGs, haven't you ever tried to make a weapon as 'perfect' as possible? upgrade it to max? even if it's for curiosity's sake?
>>
>>768856
If I had to guess, maybe the spear gets different enchantments based on what we kill using it? Like it gains some of their properties through there blood, and gets stronger the more we kill.
>>
>>768943
We've already sated it with our own blood, remember, it doesn't need anymore.
>>
>>768979
hm... Maybe then it's linked to us and gets enchantments based on if we eat very powerful monsters?
>>
>>768979
I don't think that means it 'ca't' get anymore.
Though I think more likely the ?? means it gets some powers form our nature, maybe the spear even grow with Lyras own evolution.
>>
>>768994
Now that is believable. It's linked to us literally by blood now, and our strength seems to pass on to our friends as we grow bigger already. And REQM specifically stated it's value tier will increase over time, as it becomes a truly legendary weapon.
>>
>>769011
>and our strength seems to pass on to our friends as we grow bigger already
Only to Sheszka due to her race being that way, and Lann having the special class.

>>769011
>And REQM specifically stated it's value tier will increase over time
Did he? Insofar I remember he even said it will be very difficult to raise it by a value tier.
>>
>>768979
Yes, it doesn't 'need' anymore from Lyra. But what about when it gets used to kill things, and be drenched in their blood?

From reading this:
>if you keep using them, they'll never dull or break, cause they feed on war."
that reminded me of the huge-ass sword from Naruto, the one that fed on blood to repair it's own cracks and kept it's own edge sharp.
http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Kubikirib%C5%8Dch%C5%8D
If it could do that, then maybe it can somehow absorb something from each kill, and get stronger for it? That or like Gut's sword from Berserk, where the Dragonslayer sword killed so many demons that it got specialized into a spiritual killing machine.

I found it
>And growing weapons are incredibly rare. There are ways to improve things, but given that higher tier stuff is usually found in dungeons or ruins, its uncommon.
So it becoming better would be extremly unusual, and it has still 3 tiers to grow (from High Unique to Ancient>legendary>Phantasmal)

>>769040
>>if you keep using them, they'll never dull or break, cause they feed on war."
That was primarily about the Black iron weapon, not the blood steel weapon, which is a alloy of the former.

>>769040
>If it could do that, then maybe it can somehow absorb something from each kill, and get stronger for it?
Not impossible, but it seems fairly explicit that blood steel is practically "sated" black iron, so i don't think so.

I do hope our spear has a growth mechanism though, be it feeding, evolution or something else.
>>
>>769020
He did, if I recall right his exact words were 'it will grow with Lyra' or something along those lines. I would expect it to be difficult to raise value tiers for a weapon as they require a great deal of use and fame to qualify as being called legendary, but Lyra could probably fulfill most of those requirements in short order. Because she's a giant spider.
>>
>>769060
>He did, if I recall right his exact words were 'it will grow with Lyra' or something along those lines.
You gotta quote that at me properly because in the one I quoted above he said the opposite.
>>
>>769071
REQM never said that, some people might have soeculated about it, but all we know is that you can improve to a extent, but its uncommon.

Strengthening

I am tired of breaking our weapons.
>>
>>768606
Thanks for running!
>>
>>769693
Shit, i forgot to thank reqm.
Next time.
>>
>>767366
>And Jesus Christ that is an awful name, it actually makes me want to make another spear just to forget about our current one.
Naming important things is going to leave somebody heavily disappointed by the very principle.

*coughsoaringsongcough*
>>
>>769243
On the other hand, we might need the Strength for ourselves to properly wield the Spear. I'm not sure whether our strength is already sufficient or not and we can't check right now because of the blood loss.
>>
>>769868
Very true.

Unfortunately, in this case, the name is a grammar fail on a very real level.

I said it before: those two words don't belong next to each other.
>>
>>770052

Quit being anal about it.

And no, "Promise Unyielding" is very much ok, especially because it's in the fucking SPIDER tongue and there is a very different set of syntax and grammar rules.
>>
>>768528
>"That makes more sense. Can't go carving runes into people."
>"Of course. Now, Miss-"
>"I mean, You could. But then there'd be blood everywhere. And people dying, probably. It's a bad idea, altogether."
Hypothetically, could we get runes carved into our exoskeleton? As in that case, we could infect be enchanted...
>>
>>770865
We might shed at some point though...

Our Dragon Skull on the other hand... ;)
>>
>>770865
>>770877
Yeah and now imagine Mom's reaction upon seeing Lyra with tattoos.
>>
>>770877
Ha ha ha no, there's no way Lyra would be crazy enough to risk her butt becoming explosive, and her friends wouldn't want their spots to be dangerous to stay and sleep in.
>>
>>770877
minor fire enchantment for warm eyesockets?
>>
>>770887
That's just Sara's spell-eater enchants. Professionals don't have that problem.

Although they still may have a problem with our general antimagicness.
>>
>>770890
Redundant we're already warm.
>>
>>770877
in that case... strengthening enchantments for our chitin? make us even more difficult to harm?
>>
>>770880
Well, it's not like there's anything we can really do that will make her any less of a force of nature once she catches up with us. Might as well go the full hog?
And get further strength enchants and finally properly beat her at 'training'
>>
>>770880
We need to get makeup, tTtoos, and more revealing clothing before mom finds us. Full teen meltdown.
>>
>>770926
you're forgetting that we have an evolution on her now, we might actually have a chance of beating her. Not a good chance but it we pull a crit out of our ass it could happen.
>>
>>771114
She has a lifetime of skill fighting things. She'd still whip our giant ass.
>>
>>771405
>>771114
Yeah, we already outclassed her in raw stronk and all that achieved is made her stop holding back.
>>
>>771405
a very skilled bunny rabbit is still no match for a bear; only because she has a lifetime of experience does she have any chance at all of winning.
>>
>>771450
This is more like Bruce Lee versus some 2m tall body builder with a 3 month self defence course.

My God... Lyra has become the Bear
>>
>>771447
>>771462
Agreed, having more strength and defense just means she can go even harder on us than ever.
>>
>>771462
You know, now that i think of it, it really was a 3 month courze
>>
>>771605
I like to think that it started the second Lyra killed a Lightning Wolf; Mom busted out the training spears after that stunt.
>>
>>772037
This leads to the realization that our stats are fucking impressive to counter out our skills.

We gotta get mom to fight the baron and his sister.
>>
>>772433
I still say we can't say for sure that we lost that fight. We have no clue what the fuck would happen if we voodoo'd her spear when she tried to fire it.
>>
>>772457
it's more for their sake than ours.
Mom loves fighting.
The baron is pissed he didn't get to fight mom.
>>
>>770899
We aren't anti-magic we can just control mana that isn't ours. We use that for anti-magic.
>>
>>772433
I was hoping one of them could train and/or spar with Lyra a little bit before we leave town. Almost all her experience fighting skilled weapon users was through her mother, if she wants to match her she should start trying to practice her skills elsewhere.
>>
>>772457
honestly Lyra can just magmafy the field if she's ever fighting full-tilt. I'm sure the ducal siblings and comparable adventurers have ways to operate under that sort of constraint, but not as well as Lyra.
>>
>>773228
She can also probably make them sink into the ground, like quicksand.
>>
Where did everyone go?
>>
>>779549

Where do you think? most people here are from /tg/ so the thread should be dead for most people.

It´s in autosage anyway.

Reqm isnt coming back...

the thread archiving is complete...

Nothing more to discuss?

pick a fave.
>>
>>779549
The spiders took them.
>>
>>779549
I check in approximately once every day or so.
>>
>>788812
Let's make our spear unbreakable, yes? We are the second strongest in the team anyway and our wolf yeti isn't using a big chunk of metal to hit people like we do.

>Strengthening
>>
>>789382
yeah I'm probably going for unbreakable spear. but honestly I'm not really seeing the need to enchant yet.
I'd like to go bother elves more.
>>
>>789399
We need to do it because we already are doing it. The GM already asked for the votes on that.
>>
>>792211
>We need to do it because we already are doing it.
Yes, we are already here and doing it, too late to just go "nope" and leave for no reason
>The GM already asked for the votes on that.
I didn't see him say that. I saw him saying he is going to sleep
>>789382
I am not so sure, it sounds legit, but on the other hand is this really our final spear?
If it increases MC's strength then we do more damage, by the point we actually break the spear we would probably want to upgrade to something even better
