Big, huge, virtually unbreakable main-spear that we use for everything that isn't finesse or subtle gets a fancy name and is our main weapon.

Delicate(Comparatively) fancy spear with enchantments and is otherwise beautiful and a master piece gets a blunt and simple name.

Although, because of our rolls in actually making this spear, it's probably fukken beautiful to look at anyway, Lyra has a flare for detail after all.

Hands move slowly, arms lifting them inch by inch, your chitin clicking softly as you bring them above the table.

Your palms flatten against the rough wood, and you brace as your muscles start to push, willing your body to rise.

You hold the pose for a few seconds before you let your arms drop back beneath the table, your face rolling into the silk again for another mouthful of breakfast.

You roll away, eyes meeting Ren's as you repress a yawn.

"Breakfast, yes."

The secretary pinches the bridge of her nose.

Your brow knits as you process this information.

"I do not own a log, yes. And you can't wear a log. Wood is not clothing. I think? Do not tell Elle."
Ren stares at you a moment longer before she steps neatly over your legs, making her way closer to your body, where she reaches out and lifts something from your neck- A thick and rough seeming length of brown and red and black.

"Lyra, what is this?"

You prod the length of whatever with a slow moving finger until irritated hissing emerges from somewhere beneath your mass of unkempt hair.
You should probably bathe at some point. You're essentially fifty percent chimney at this point, going by the amount of soot on you.

"It seems to be Ezzy, yes. Esmerelda."
"She was a lot smaller before."
"Yes."
"You don't seem concerned."

"She will be very happy later."
"And now?"
"Now she is asleep."
"And you're not going to wake her up?"
"I want to be asleep too, yes."

She shuffles her papers again, tapping them all into order and holding them against her chest before she replies.

"Are you feeling well?"
"I am very tired."
"I didn't think forging something, even overnight, would affect an arachne to this point."
"It took a lot of blood, yes."

"You- Wait, you forged something from blood steel?"

With other people apparently looking after your health, and absolved of any adult-like responsibility, you turn your efforts to the natural response to the current series of events.

Which is, specifically, examing your newly evolved friend before she wakes up.

You feel certain, that, at some point, maybe in the future, your focus on sating your own curiousity will at some point bite you in the ass.
As the saying goes, Curiousity killed the cat.

But the rest of the saying- Satisfaction brought it back- is pretty important, you think.

Also, cats aren't giant spiders. And anything that tries to bit you in the ass will discover that your ass is large, and heavily armoured.
That'll teach them.

And with that sort of unshakeable logic girding your mind, you proceed to enlighten yourself to Esmerelda's changes.

Her scales protrude away from her now, giving her an oddly spiky appearance- They're still glossy though, and colourful now to boot. She's certainly larger, but 'Log' might be a bit much. Maybe an Ezzy sized log?

You try to wrap your head around quantifying an object with a friends size in order to quantify a friends size with an objectk, and conclude that nothing good can come from this train of thought.

She's a bit thicker than your wrist, and while your brain might now being running at appropriate speeds to take any accurate guess at her length, she has probably added another two feet to her collection.

Alright, you turn your head, and rest your chin on your breakfast so you can look forwards.

Nin is nowhere to be found.
You really could use the moth now- Healing dust is probably exactly what you need. Just a bit on your food, maybe.

You raise your voice- It sounds a bit odd to you know that you listen to it, weak and slow.
You really are unwell, aren't you.

You certainly wouldn't consider your attempt loud- Definitely not in the rowdy guild- but it's all it takes to call the moth anyways, hops and fluttering wings in place of running bringing her to your side in moments.

"Lyra? Are you okay? You're calling?"
"No. Yes? I will get better, yes."

She brushes some hair from your face and frowns as she leans in.
"You- You're still so pale."
"I do not tan easily, I think."
"Sick pale. I'm going back, okay? Don't worry."

You make an attempt at a nod, tilting your head forwards and to one side.

"Yes. Can I have some dust, please?"
She snorts. "You're only asking now? I've been mixing it into your food, yes."

She pats your head gently before she flutters away again.
"Thank you, yes." You murmur as you turn back to your food.
Hopefully she heard.

Enough with the guy. Besides, the spear is meant to have strength enchantments only, so no poison enchantment would work anyway. simply covering it in venom wouldn't last long either as it gets used up, not to mention we almost never use venom on spears due to desire to share food.

The morning- or afternoon, as it may be at this point. Or that point.
The point is that the day is blurring slowly into a string of vaguely concious conversations, punctuated by a happy amount of food.

You were eventually roused by Nin and Ren when they noticed that the food wasn't slowly disappearing, and that rather then eating your current wrap, you were just using it as a pillow.

You were encouraged to go back to bed and let yourself heal, but your brain has, for whatever reason, fixated on a bath.
And, you reasoned, you can sleep in a bath. You've done it before, you think.

So you descended into the baths, where you came face to face with your true opponent:
Stone cubby-holes, helpfully offered to hold clothing and gear while one cleans themself.

You stopped and glared, and even bared your teeth at them, to no avail. Your clothing remains on your body.

Eventually, your friends helped.

Sheszka passes Ezzy to Nin, who dips a little under the snakes newfound weight. Jin directs the yeti to undo your clothing, each piece being dropped neatly into one of the hateful cubbies.

And then they lead you to the water, and you move out into the baths until the depth is up over your waist, and you find a convenient lip to rest yourself on.

You may have made it. It certainly seemed to come out of nowhere.

Your friends busy themselves behind you, scrubbing you down, brushing out your hair till it floats out into the water like a spreading cloud of ink. You close your eyes and let the warmth- metaphorical and literal alike- lull you off to sleep.

You can still feel, dimly, the light tug of a brush in your hair, a warm cloth scrubbing at your chitin.

It seems very quiet in the baths, and your mind drifts off to the source of all of this.

You can almost feel it. You hand closes on empty air, and you remember the feeling of carrying it from the forge, the weight and feeling of the metal under your fingers, the way it dipped forward in your exhaustion, the sight of it catching sunlight, the solid feeling of it.

It needs a name.

The thought bubbles up from somewhere, and though you can't imagine why, it feels right.
It needs a name.

It isn't... complete. Not yet.

But what should you call it?
You haven't done anything with it yet. It's fresh forged, without even a single mark marring its blade.
It's only a matter of time, really, but-

If there's nothing to name it after, it's up to you, isn't it?
Should it be something simple? Something complicated? Something to name a legend after, or a word spoken in reverence?
Spoken in your own language? Or your father's or the human's tongue?

It's a pity you can't write in arachne. Maybe just the forest language?
Do you need to carve the name into the weapon?

As hard as it is, you feel so sure it would be easy.

Forest had a strong start, but was overcome by Arachne in the end!
Simple started strong, and Epic tried to catch up but just couldn't over come the lead!

As people have noted, the spears name can be translated to whatever you'd like, and should you decide to carve it onto the weapon, in whatever language you'd like.

Please suggest Simple sounding names by linking them to this post!
