#BanishedDiscussion on Rizon

At this hour, with the curtains drawn, the sole source of light in your room is the monitor, harsh white light just barely illuminating your desk but little else. By its light, you're able to make out the collection of empty bottles scattered across the desk. How many you've drained tonight alone, you can't recall.

Jesus Christ, Soma. Thirty two days. That's how long you've been gone. Thirty two fucking days.

You drag your mouse across the filthy wood, sending a bottle or two tumbling to the floor as you do.
Twitter. Even now, this far gone, you expect a new tweet, announcing a thread some time soon.
There's nothing, of course - even if there was, he'd cancel it. As always.

You spend a good five minutes just staring, blankly, at his last tweet. Spring? Does he really think you can go that long? Does he think he can? By spring, he won't even remember a single thing about your beloved Banished Quest.

There's only one solution to all this.
The gun lies at the base of your monitor. Several times now you've tried to work up the courage to do it. Once, you even got your finger on the trigger.
This time will be different'. There's more alcohol than blood pumping through your system, and thanks to it you can finally understand, no, accept the truth.
Soma isn't coming back.
>>
Banished Quest is dead.

And in just a moment you'll join it.
In your alcohol-addled state the gun has none of its usual weight. You almost can't believe that the thing in your hand could, and will, end your life. All you have to do is squeeze the trigger.

Unsurprisingly, your last thoughts are of Banished Quest. You never did get around to convincing your fellow players to vote for your Avatar proj-

Uh, who are you?
>>
The scene before you is immediately familiar. You've pictured it in your mind's eye many a time, as you read and reread Soma's posts, committing every word, every detail to memory.

You are in Chryssa's village. Not even your autistic mind could possibly care enough about this part of the quest to recall its name, so you'll settle for calling it Chryssa's village for the time being.

Ignoring the impossibility of finding yourself inside a fictional world for the time being - this could, after all, be some dream concocted by your dying mind. Maybe the bullet is simply lodged in your brain, and you're in a coma - you scrambled to your feet, and take stock of yourself and your surroundings.

Patting yourself down, you find, to your mild surprise, that you don't have a bullet wound in your head.
That aside, your body is in its usual twink state - your stomach smooth, and your clothes tightly fit. The one thing of interest you do note is your phone - you'd forgotten to remove it from your pocket. It appears to be perfectly functioning, lack of signal aside.

Slipping your phone back into your ass-hugging jeans, you regard your surroundings. On all sides, you are enclosed by the smouldering wreckage of wooden buildings, your vision slightly obscured by a thin haze of smoke. The smoke is at its thickest above you, blocking out the sky entirely. Still, you have enough light to see by, so presumably it's some point around midday.

As you take a step forwards, your foot kicks aside an object at your feet. It takes you a moment to pick out the gun that, only moments ago, was pressed up against your head, as its black finish blends in with the soot-covered ground.

Gun in hand, you continue through the village for some time, taking cover behind what few walls still stand and crouch-running between open spaces. You have spent many an hour browsing /k/, and know all about "operators", as they call themselves, and it is now that all that time spent studying pays off.

From behind a half-destroyed wall, you're able to make out a vague figure in the smoke beyond.
Wings, four legs, and a tail, whipping back and forth. A dragon, its back turned to your.

Consulting your mental encyclopaedia of Banished Quest knowledge, you recall that dragons are only able to communicate via telepathy.
Surely you, having been transported into Soma's incredible and intricate setting, and with your mastery of all that he has presented so far, should be capable of rudimentary Nature magic - and thus of communicating on equal grounds with the beast.
On the other hand, it is still a giant fire-breathing lizard. You could try putting a round or two into it.
Finally, you're not above simply fucking off. There's a whole world out there for you. You don't have to waste your newfound life dying in mere moments.

Communicate? Shoot it? Run?

No, all of those things are below you. You, yourself, are Banished Quest's messiah ,its prophet, its poet-king, its Fuhrer, you are the sole member among its intelligentsia, you are the ying to the rest of the playerbase's yang.
You guided blind Anons away from eating the false shard, you convinced them to create the inversion ring - the crown, Namek, the mask, all these, and more, were your ideas, and yours alone.

Thus, why should you not hold that same sway over Banished Quest made manifest? Why should your will not be above that of a mere dragon, an oversized dragon, with mastery of fire and probably several other schools of magic that is the size of a small house and could snap your neck with the closing of its jaw?
Ridiculous. Nothing, not anything, could ever best you. Not when you are allowed to employ your vast and unfathomable intelligence. Only when control is wrested away from you, as with the shockwave sword - you told them it was a mistake, you FUCKING told them, but the stupid, stubborn, idiotic MORONS refused to listen and so of course you tried to make them UNDERSTAND but they wouldn't they kept on with it and they voted for it and WHERE DID IT GET THEM? NOWHERE, of course if they had list- can Mikhael fail.

But you aren't Mikhael. Nor do you have to battle for control with several dozen idiots.

From your position behind the wall, you assume a cross-legged stance. In your mind, this is how Mikhael meditates. Thus, it is how you meditate.

You already know how the Shaping Arts work. You know how meditation works. After all, you've read and re-read the whole quest dozens of times.
Presumably, you have a soul.
Thus, you should be able to shape it. To make something greater of yourself. You never were to attached to your existing self, anyway. You'd rather be a tall, graceful sandnigger-elf than some skeletal asian boy.

You close your eyes and settle your mind, breath steadying. In mere moments your thoughts slow to a crawl. Despite the giant lizard padding around nearby, you find yourself to be quite calm. In moments, the whole world falls away and you can see the ebb and flow of the various colours of Vys, just as your beloved Soma described.
Turning your gaze inward, you look upon your soul. As you understand it, it's completely standard - bright and glowing husk, which, as you know, surrounds and protects your shell and shard.

Now how the fuck did Mik do this?

Channelling Vys into the soul, you think. For once, your knowledge fails you. Without suptg at your fingertips, this all becomes much more difficult.
For one thing, you don't even know how to channel Vys.
>>
Still, you can try. You follow through with how you imagine Mik does it, an invisible hand in your mind's eye grasping at some ephemeral pool and stuffing it into your soul. Or, where your soul should be.

To your utmost surprise, it actually works! You can feel yourself grasp some sort of energy, though much of it seems to slip away.

Now, you need to channel it.
You can see Vys coalesce around your soul as you will it towards it, hoping to erode some small hole through your husk through which to access the deeper layers.
The husk is easy enough to part, whole heaps eroding away as you go to work at it. Dimly, you're aware of the loss of some memories, but the task at hand still dominates your focus. Your shell, dim as it is, is riddled with holes. That should make this even easier!
You direct your Vys into your divine shard, hoping to gain access to your self image.
Only, you run into a problem. You still don't know how to channel Vys properly.

Earth magic - sure, that seems to come easy enough. Plain Vys, though?
No clue.

Thus it occurs to you, slightly too late, that you are currently eroding away your divine shard.
Your sole response to this is to panic, flailing your metaphysical arms in an attempt to direct your Vys anywhere else. Unfortunately, this results in you channelling that Vys into your shell as well as your shard, and, before your eyes, both parts of the core of your being start to crack and splinter.

Of course your response to this is simply to flail more (the incredible pain eroding away your soul causes doesn't help at all), further damaging the components of your soul until neither can handle any more stress.
Before your very eyes, your shard splinters into two rough halves.

One more you're blinded by an intense light. As your eyes, again, adjust, you find yourself in:

Very realistic rookie mistake, something I could see a lot of people doing on their first attempt. Granted I don't know if some untrained guy from Cali would even have enough vys to eat through the shell, but y'know. Creative liberty, it's believable enough that just as samja have a greater affinity for magic than humans, a human raised in modern society with all its health benefits and built up knowledge may well possess some minor aptitude for magic and a greater vys pool than most in-setting humans.

The Academy of Anthus.

That's where you presume you are, at least. From the shocked girl at the foot of the bed - Aylin, you have to assume. You appear to have caught her in the middle of undressing. She looks like what you'd imagined her to be, anyway. Long, curly brown hair. A cute button nose just below brilliant green eyes - her cheeks dusted with freckles. And, of course, a tiny, petite body.
She's a loli.

Perfect.

Aylin, once she gathers her wits, dashes forwards and smacks you across your face. You let her do so, of course. You weren't caught off guard - you couldn't be, not ever, not with your level of intellect - but she must be (understandably) shocked, and so letting her express it in this matter should help your waifu calm down.
That done, she simply stands and glares at you, her perfect, flat chest heaving, face bright red.
"Mikhael, y-you pervert", she stutters, after a time. Even her voice is perfect, like an angel on the harpsichord.

Still, you seem to have got off on the wrong foot. How could you possibly make amends?

the two of you and the speed with which you move this means you and her are sent tumbling to the ground, but that doesn't matter - nothing to do with her or your body matters, really, no compared to the incredible, world-shattering knowledge you are about to impart upon her.

"Aylin," you say, and you find your voice to be much deeper than its usual falsetto - no matter, you can consider that later, "What do you know about enchanting?"

For her part, Aylin manages to look terrified. "Nothing, I know nothing."

You laugh in her face. "Well, it doesn't matter what you know. What matters is my plan!"
Aylin stares into your face, terrified. "W-as, was appearing here part of your plan?"
"Of course!" You respond.
"Well, congratulations", she says, gathering her resolve, "You're here. Now what's the next step in your master plan?"

That's actually a good point, now that you think about it. What IS the next step in your master plan?
The answer only takes a moment to come to you.

"The Avatar project," you say. "I- I'm going, you see, I'll- I'll convince them. All of them, they've already voted for the inversion ring. It's already underway."
You pause again, staring deeply into Aylin's eyes, enraptured.
"Next, we have to perfect the martial trance. Easy enough, of course. The real problem is getting them to vote for the last part - plasma. But it can be done, Aylin."
Now you sit upright, pinning Aylin down by her legs. "I'm not restricted by the other players anymore, Aylin! I'm my own man, my own Vatis! I'm free to experiment with whatever I want, whenever I want, beholden to no shitposters, without the need to grovel at the feet of some kikey potatonigger!"

"I'm free, Aylin! FREE!"

The whole speech leaves you without breath, panting atop Aylin, as she quivers in terror beneath you.
You feel incredible.

>Maybe now you should ask her about the Mikhael thing.

Of course, no man is an island. It simply isn't possible for you to do this alone.
You'll need Mikhael. And the fastest way to Mikhael is through Demetrios, and his brooch.

Though - Mikhael. Didn't Aylin call you Mikhael when you first arrived? Perhaps you misheard.
Still to make sure, you ask, "Aylin, dearest, what did you mean when you called me Mikhael?"

Aylin stares up at you blankly. She opens and closes her mouth several times before simply saying, "I meant, Mikhael, that you're Mikhael."

Ah, of course.
That settled, you heave yourself off of Aylin, and make for the door. It pains you to be parted from her, but you have grander plans, and you can't let them waste away under the tyranny of the heart.

To be frank, you have absolutely no fucking idea where you're going. One corridor looks identical to the next, but you eventually find your way out.
As you recall, the teachers were situated in their own building. So you set your eyes on the first building you see.
Once you arrive, you come across a new problem.
While there are plenty of doors, presumably to rooms, you have absolutely no idea where Demetrios is.

>Your experiment with the Shaping Arts went so well, meditate on Nature to find which room is Demetrios'.

“Ahhhh,” Othello remarks, taking his feet of your furniture and shifting his sitting position so he is leaning forward with both boots planted squarely on the floor of your cabin. “So what you are saying, my friend, is that you believe my actions should be under the sway of not only your own meaningless opinions, but also those of your girlfriend and your fool?”

It takes you a moment to process all of the casual vitriol he just spewed at your proposal. “She's not my –”

“And I notice that at least three people on this secret cabal work directly for you. How fortunate a coincidence that a majority of the votes are on your payroll, William.”

“I don't pay – ”

“I believe I've heard enough,” he interrupts you again, brooking you no quarter to explain yourself. “You do not seem the type of vacuous creature I despise and you quite clearly possess a style I can appreciate. Coupled with the fact that you command influence, wealth and power – and I see the benefit of an alliance betwixt our respective forces . . . For now. But you are a fool to think I would subject my freedom of action to committee approval on the vague guarantee of a safety net.”

The pirate stands up, smoothing down his vest as he does so to maintain a pristine appearance. “I'll be taking my leave.”

As the man walks away, you feel a cold dread seep into the back of your mind.

“This stays a secret between us, right?” you call out before he makes it to the far door of your chamber. Your words stop the muscled figure in his tracks. “What I've told you. About my loyalties.”

Othello casts a glance over his shoulder and flashes you a pearly white smile before offering a paltry remedy to sooth your concerns. “Othello is under no obligation to keep such information concealed. But the Dragon King does not need to know and I do not feel the urge to tell him. Best hope it stays that way, white boy.”

And with that he swivels his head back around and exits your chambers.

>>759814
Well I'm shitposting in it, yeah. And somehow the OP is out-shitposting me in both update and non-update posts. So I'm gonna treat this whole thing the same way I treat the actual Banished Quest, which is, of course, a giant series of shitposts masquerading itself as a legitimate narrative.

>>759822
Fuck off Rob.

I can honestly say that you're the worst player to ever defile a quest with your presence. The scum of the earth. There is literally no other person who if they posted in the thread would reduce it's quality as much as you do. If I had a gun with two bullets and was in a room with you, Hitler and Stalin. Stalin would steal the gun from me and kill himself twice rather than spend even a second longer in your presence. I honestly don't even understand how you can go on living you disgusting piece of filth,. You say this quest is shitposting. Well it's still less shgit than anything you've ever said or even thought in your entire life you repulsive sack of human garbage. Kill yourself immediately.

"DEEEEEEEEEEEEMEEEEEEEEEETRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"

"D E E E E E E E E M E E E E E E EE E E T R I I I I I I I O O O O O OO SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS," you scream. The sound echoes off of the stone walls, and yet there's no reply.

From far off to your left you hear a distant, "Fuck off," but it's not Demetrios' voice. Given his name, you've always pictured him with some form of Greek accent - you can just imagine that slimy greaser labouring over your car, as you sit back and relax. The thought of having one of the lower races do your work for you clams you, and allows you to redouble your efforts on finding Demetrios.

Taking a deep, deep breath, you channel Vys into your throat.
You still can't channel Vys though, so all does is erode away part of your throat.

Still. That does aid your goal. This time, when you scream for Demetrios it comes out more like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA", and is accompanied by the sound of you sucking in and expelling air throught the wet and ragged wound in your throat.

Still, that seems to get some attention, from the way just about every door in the hallway slams open.
As a crowd begins to form around you (someone does you the favour of healing the gaping hole in your throat, though they neglect to clean up the blood spilled down your front), your new found height (6 something or other up from 4'3") affords you a view of a very tired Demetrios stumbling out of his room at the far end of the corridor.
Now's your chance.

>Launch into an explanation of the Avatar project.
>In front of all these plebs? Drag Demetrios into his room and explain there.
>It just occurred to you that you came back to life after you shattered your shard. Maybe it happens every time you kill yourself? You should find out right now!
>Write-in.

Immediately drop everything you were doing so you can fuck off to the vault and put on the Mask again.

Sick trips, sick write in, I'm writing.
>>
Nah fuck Demetrios and/or killing yourself. If you're going to be entirely honest, what you're most interested in at the moment is the mask.
It's only due to your thoughtful suggestions that Mikhael made it out of that situation alive, so you yourself should be fine.

You turn on the spot and push through the crowd, knocking over several people you presume are Vatis and head right back into the main building. Neither you nor I actually remember where all that shit is located so you find your way down there eventually, also doing something that could be construed as vaguely amusing along the way.

Anyway, once there you channel Earth magic to bore through the door I guess and then you're in. The room is littered with magical artifacts and were you Mikhael and were I Soma no doubt I'd write about you being overwhelmed by all the ambient Vys or some such bullshit.
That's not the case, and so to you the room appears to be littered with some junk you presume is magic.

So much junk, in fact, that you can't pick out the mask.

>Roll 3d10 to figure out where the mask is.

Rob here, AMA

It takes you all of twenty seconds to find the mask, once you start looking. The room wasn't nearly as cluttered as you initially thought.

Holding the mask in your hands, you study it. It's exactly as you imagined it, made out of wood or something, with some intricate designs, probably some runes on the front. I'll confess, it's been a couple of years since I've read this bit of the quest and I'm not going to go back and read it again, not even just searching the archives for Soma's posts about this thing.
So you've got a mask in your hands, looks just like the mask from Banished Quest. You think back to that time Mikhael was trapped inside of it, and how he then had the Entity latched onto him for so long.
Of course, it's only due to your expert advice that Mikhael made it out of the mask safely, and your incredible charisma and persuasive abilities that he eventually got it removed from him.

You mean, making it Chryssa's GM meditation?
That was simply a stroke of genius, even if you do say yourself. And you do, because there isn't a single other person who cares.
Which is a thought that strikes you, while you're alone in a dark room holding an enchanted mask in your hands. So far as you're aware, you're the sole real person in this world.
Everyone else is the figment of an autistic pedophile's imagination.

Shuddering at the thought, and shunting it to the back of your mind, you place the mask over your face.

Nothing happens.

Confused, you draw it way from your face and study the inside.
To your shock, there are no runes carved into this side, only some horribly-carved letters.
"I" is the first, followed by... "P"?
No, wait, that's "R".
The last one is easy, "C".

You stand there for some time, staring, before it hits you.

IRC.

The cabal.
