A heavy hand bashes across the kid's face.

"Ye' think supportin' ye sorry ass is easy? Ye think feedin' you is cheap? I work to the goddamn bone and come back teh see yer snot nose rifling through my things!"

A beautiful woman, tears in her eyes, steps between the boy and the man. He spits on the ground and shoves her out of the way. He takes a swig from his bottle before throwing it at the adjacent wall, shattering. "Ungrateful bastards, you whole LOT!" He roars, breath reeking of alcohol.

The child gets up, his hands balling themselves into shaking fists. "You'd be ungrateful too if an ugly old man tried to be your father! You've always used your money at bars more than you do on us!"

"What are ye' sayin' teh me YOU LITTLE PUNK?!"

The man reels back a drunken fist, but the older woman step in front of the boy again. The child takes the moment to snatch the sword from out of the man's hands and bolts out of the front door, ignoring the yells from behind him.

The child screams in frustration as he runs through the trees and green brush of the woods. His long black hair streams behind him in the rushing air. He just needs to get away. He'll just keep running, keep going until the house is gone forever.

He runs until the yells from inside the secluded cabin turn to echos- the echos to whispers. The trees thin and eventually part. The boy collapses to his knees, the sheathed sword clatters on the dirt beneath him. He covers his eyes as sobs intermittently break his coughing.

Wiping his eyes and the dirt from his skinned knees, he looks up to a see....

A field with rows upon rows of flowers of every shape and color extend towards the horizon, father than his eyes can see. He grabs the sword and shuffles into the fields, tear-stained eyes wide.

He sits amid the blooms, hugging his knees. He looks at the ornate blade, a shining flower depicted on its hilt.
He would have to go back to that place. He can't leave his mom and sisters there. He'll....he'll take them here, away from the ugly brute of a man. He clenches the sword tightly, grinding his teeth....

When he feels soft hands on his shoulders. "Mom..."

"Shhh," cooes the raven-haired woman. She gazes at the boy sadly, one of her eyes black. "It's okay, he's calmed down. Let's go back."

"No, I'm never going back to that idiot. We're staying here." The child refuses, adamant.

She sighs and sits next to him. She picks a flower and puts it in his long hair, running her fingers through it.
She hugs him.

"I love you, Sanjuro, but we need food and and a place to sleep. One day, you'll be free to leave. But for now, look to find happiness where you can. Try to find beauty from the small things in life." She looks up, sadness in her own eyes as well. Petals blow between embraced mother and son.

"Things will be better, I promise. Someday the world will be a little more beautiful."

>Your name is Amon Shuu, a humble monk of the Water Temple.
>You have no family to speak of, another one of the many casualties of the 2nd Shinobi World War. Your luck pulled through when a wandering monk, Myatsuu, snatched you from the debris of a border skirmish between Konohagakure and Kirigakure with your village having been reduced to rubble in the midst of battle. You were 4 years old. The monk, Myatsuu, brought you back to the Water Temple in the marshy coastlines of the Land of Water.

>Nearly 14 years later, the Temple- your home- had fallen to attackers from the Village Hidden in the Mist after a young girl, Rin. Leaving to honor your duties, you travel across lands to deliver the merchant, Yoru, safely to his destination. Stopping at the Fire Temple, you find your last surviving monk brother and seek aid in your travels. This is where we resume this story.

"You may as well come out. If you don't, I'll just come to you."

A flash of blue leaps from the treeline below, landing farther down the stone walkway. Asa stands poised to fire the arrow drawn in her bow.
You can tell that she isn't aiming for a warning shot. She keeps her eyes wide open, watching everfy movement of the swordsman with a piercing glare.

"Sanjuro Hoki, Bingo Book A-Rank. Wanted dead-or-alive for capital theft, first-degree murder, and war crimes. One of two identified possessors of the Swift Release Kekkei Genkai and user of the Flower Ninja Arts"

Asa tightens back her bowstring.
"Your run ends here, I'm making sure of it."

Sanjuro Hoki smiles warmly towards the kunoichi, unfazed. "You will certainly try."
He rests a single hand on the hilt of his blade. "Come, girl. Together, let us make something...beautiful."

You hold up your hands and stand between the two combatants. This situation is going to escalate quickly if you don't do something now. "This is Holy Ground we're standing on, what do you think you're doing?! Put down your weapons!"

The two combatants ignore you entirely, each of their steely gazes still transfixed on the other. You look to the Blue Kunoichi pleadingly. "Asa, please, he helped my friends. He helped us. I know you are more considerate than this. You can still walk away!"

Her eyes shine a stony vermillion, like cold gems in the night. They're empty of any emotion, of any hesitation.
They're the eyes of a killer. "He was just biding his time until he struck, Amon. Knowing his record, he would've killed you all without so much as a warning as soon as your group was isolated. Move out of the way. I can't guarantee how long that killer will give you the same opportunity."

This is unbelievable. Asa...what happened to the girl you were talking to, traveling with not even a few days ago?
You turn towards the elegant swordsman, serious. "Hoki, you're still under our contract. I know you wouldn't have attacked us. In fact, Asa probably has the wrong person, Right?"

Sanjuro Hoki doesn't move. He doesn't blink.
He doesn't answer.

"Hoki...S-Sanjuro Hoki! As your employer, I order you to stand down! You're still our bodyguard, y-"

"She's right, you know."

You stop, in disbelief. That can't be right, you must have heard wrong. He...he wasn't...he couldn't have...
The moonlight illuminates Sanjuro Hoki's peaceful, cheery face briefly. It's too unperturbed, too calm for the situation at hand. It shouldn't belong in the current situation, but you see it there nonetheless. This is nothing new to the man.
You're chilled to the bone at the sight of it.

"Sanjuro Hoki, A-Rank criminal...yes, that is me." Hoki admits plainly.
"I always do honor my contracts..."

You sigh, a sudden wave of relief rushes throuh you.

"...but our contract is complete. The girl is right, I've been considering the opportunities presented to me for a while. You seem like you have a good heart though, Amon. I'd hate to see it any way other than intact.
I'll give you to the count of 10 to move out of my way."

10
You blink, shock slowly settling in. He...he doesn't...

9

"Amon, move!" Asa yells at you.

8

No...everything was going so well...

7

Why? Why does everything good seem to fall apart around you? Why did this have to happen? Why are they so adamant about killing each other? Nobody needs to die here.

You can't move, your legs feel heavy.

Hoki twitches. At the first sign of the swordsman's movement, Asa fires her arrow. He seemingly disappears into thin air.

"Summoning Technique!"
A massive cloud of smoke engulfs the scene on the walkway as you feel something shoot right past your head in the haze.

You're catapulted high into the air from below. Then, the telltale thunderous quake shakes the Outer Temple wall to its very foundations. Amid the cacophony of cracking stone and falling bricks, you hear the unmistakable squelching sounds of steel meeting flesh.

The smoke clears to reveal a gargantuan grouper awkwardly placed along the top of the stone walls, his tail and head hanging off the sides. You stand on top of it on your hands and knees, regaining your balance as you watch the scene unfold.

"GLUB," Kazuhiko bellows angrily. It narrows its beady eyes furiously at the bemused swordsman by its side, currently attempting to free his buried katana from between the monstrous fish's thick scales. Before either of them can do anything else, a flash of blue rockets past you and into the air above.

Asa aims her bow and releases the three arrows she has already nocked. Her hand is a blur as she continues to fall through the air, firing arrow after arrow in rapid sequence. The first trifecta shoot towards the swordsman with pinpoint accuracy, but before they can hit their mark he seemingly blinks into thin air- reappearing a few short feet away empty handed. The arrows clatter and ship off the stone as they pass by, their target simply no longer there. Arrow after arrow hails down on the rogue, but he continues to disappear or just outright switch positions to be somewhere else.

Hoki reaches into his robes as he dodges, pulling out what looks to be a handful of common cherry blossoms. As you watch him do so, Asa lands on her feet next to you with a *thud*, already drawing back her next arrow. The crevices in her intricate wooden bow begins to lightly glow with a blue light.

Honestly I think Amon would want to stop Hoki. He's admitted to being a murder and he's fighting one of his 5 or so friends. It's just that he himself is kinda useless in a fight against a competent opponent without his art and crafts supplies. Having Kazuhiko swallow him is a bad idea, but there's nothing else Amon can really do. Since summoning Goldie is gonna blind him and Asa as much as it is Hoki.

"Asa, whatever you're about to do, hold on tight! Kazuhiko!"

"GLUB" the behemoth roars in delight as it opens its colossal maw wide, revealing its sealed interior. With a crash the fish rips its body around to face the walkway, scraping off an entire layer of stonework with it. Hoki freezes on seeing this. He hesitates before making several hand seals, his feet beginning to glow with chakra. He starts to run towards the massive fish!

Kazuhiko inhales deeply, once again forming a raging cyclone of a vacuum that begins to pull in the swordsman, along with everything from branches and loose bricks in the surrounding vicinity. Hoki disappears for a split second, but reappears in the same place, slowly being dragged towards the monster. He can't escape from the vortex! He fights against the strength of the forces pulling him in, but not even the chakra-enhanced traction can stand the beast's power for to long as Hoki looses his footing and tumbles into Kazuhiko's jaws. As he flies through the air, you see him release handfuls of flower petals into vortex around him.

The fish shuts its mouth with a loud *smack*.

"BLUB" Kazuhiko bellows triumphantly.

Asa looks at the fish below her epectantly, bow still full drawn and softly glowing a light blue.
"I don't think this is over, Amon. Not by a long shot."

"Then get ready to shoot the minute I have Kazuhiko spit him out."

Asa nods, crounching down to steady herself on one knee. She shuts her left eye, getting a good idea of her range.

You hear a groan of pain come from the fish under you. You look down to see smoke coming out from its nasal cavities.
You begin to hear voices shouting out unintelligible speech from across the grounds. That doesn't matter now. You don't have any more time, it's now or never.

"Kazuhiko, shoot him out directly forward! Asa, now!"

Two things happen immediately in the next moments.

First, Asa's bow, once softly shining, begins to glow a brilliant blue. The arrow nocked begins to sparkle, then crackle with electrical energy! The air is filled with what sounds like the chirping of hundreds of birds as the arrow is encased in an outer layer of lightning-natured chakra!

Second, the smoke once billowing out of the poor fish's nostrils starts to become embers, then sweltering flames! With a roar of pain and a jolt, the massive grouper's maw opens to release a colossal, fiery explosion that rings through the night like a cannon. In the clouds of licking flames and smoke, you see a slightly singed Hoki flying backwards, poised to land on his feet.

In that moment, Asa releases her arrow in a boom of crashing thunder!

There is a flash and the arrow- if it could even be called that anymore- cracks across the distance between you in the swordsman like a literal bolt of lightning, traveling at speeds faster than any normal human could see. Sanjuro Hoki doesn't even see it coming until it is already upon him. You see surprise on his face as his swift release begins the telltale blurring of of his figure...

...as the bolt of lightning rips through his upper body, right through his abdomen, and continues on to strike against the walkway further down. Hoki plunges into the billowing flames below him, his eyes wide with shock and a smoldering hole through his stomach.

With a final groan of agony, Kazuhiko disappears in a burst of smoke and you drop to your feet on the ground. Next to you the crysthansium katana clatters against the stone rubble. The flames roar, with the nearby treetops heartily ablaze and the walkway still swallowed by flames.

Asa gives another steely look at the scene, before she shakes her head and gives you the warm smile you're used to.

"As much as I thought I'd be able to take him myself, things wouldn't have gone as well without you here, Amon. I owe y-"

One or two multicolored blossoms float by your heads. Then, more than several of them at once...

Both you and Asa's eyes go wide looking at each other, and you turn heel on the spot to face the fires. Asa draws another arrow.
"There's no way, it's impossible...he couldn't have..."

Out from the parting flames walks the barefoot man, blood dripping from his mouth, The hole in his abdomen, around the size of a fist, still smokes with blackened flesh.

Sanjuro Hoki gives a weary, pained chuckle. "I have to hand it to you two...I wasn't quite expecting something like that. I daresay that what you two did was...beautiful. If I didn't use my swift release at the last moment, that would have certainly been a lethal blow.
Unfortunately, I think it's time to end our little get-together. I have places I need to be."

Petals begin to float through the air from over the wall, out of the flames, and what clothing Hoki has left.

There is a small cloud of the blossoms gathering around you as Hoki begins making hand seals.

Yeah, I figured the chances of an archer being able to deal with a cloud of flowers was pretty low. Hopefully Asa rolls well on her dodge. And attack, if she can.

In hind site maybe using fire juts to burn the flowers before they did anything would have been better

Now to see how Asa's attempt to hit the swift-release user....
with the arrows he easily dodges...
while she's blinded from your successful goldie maneuver...

Well, he's blinded too, so there's that. I'll lower the DC by five.

Rolling for Asa's special eyes.

"Asa, quick get out of here!"

You slam your hand to the ground, hand still freshly bleeding.
Hoki makes one last hand seal and stops. The flower petals floating in the air begin to coalesce into dense spirals around you, adjusting with your every moment. Asa attempts to retreat, but is surrounded by the petals wherever she moves, as they follow her movements entirely.

A small smirk crosses Hoki's face.

"Summoning Technique! Goldie, go!" You yell curtly.
Without time to spare, Goldie poofs into existence in a cloud of smoke.

Flower Ninja Art: Mirror Flower Water
"Sh-she's shining!" Goldie sputters at the abrupt command.

She begins to glow radiantly, then darker....
and darker....

....And soon, you don't see her anymore at all as your world turns several shades of dark purple. Everything around you is deeply dyed and entirely motionless except for the steady spiral of the petals around you. Reality seems to warp and ripple around you like the surface of water. Your surrounding environment blends and flows together like a poor watercolor painting comprised of only a single palette of colors.

All you can hear is the gentle breeze and the rustling of the spiraling flower petals.

You look to Asa next to you...to see she isn't there. You look from left to right and don't see your opponent, Goldie, or the Fire Temple either
Is it...genjutsu? You back away slowly, fists in front of you. You don't know how to combat something like this. Your heart beats like a drum in your chest. You anxiously await something, anything, to happen.

But nothing else does as you continue to stare into the purple, liquid void surrounding you.

(1/2)
>>
After what seems like hours, you see the abyss slowly lighten. The walkway of the Fire Temple slowly comes back into view, along with a worried looking Goldie. You can't hear anything quite yet, so you look around you for Hoki.

The fires have died to nothing but black soot. You see the hint of a sunrise on the horizon past the fracured walls. Next to you, Asa is on her hands and knees looking equally dazed. Hoki is nowhere in sight.
Is something else missing...?

Wait. You look back.

The katana, once lying amid the rubble, is no longer there.

Goldie's voice starts to come into the edge of hearing.
"...Amon-kun? Does he hear her? The flower-walker has vanished!"

He's definitely one tough motherfucker, walking off a fist sized hole in his chest. And lucky as hell, since everyone went to bed one or two posts before his fight and everyone that didn't forgot Amon learned fire jutsu.

And I still need to get a twitter. I had no idea you'd actually answered that question.
>>
>>759249
Once you got the katana out of his hands, you actually had a good chance.

He would've mopped the floor with not only you but most anybody given the nature of his release and skill in Iaido.

Hoki loses in encounters that draw on too long or deprive him of his weapons.

He is probably one of the only people who could be a good counter to Minato in terms of speed and techniques.

You always run from 11 or so till the morning. It's really hard to keep everything straight, especially because LITERALLY EVERY OTHER QUEST I FOLLOW WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF runs at almost the exact same time. Panicked monks rush back and forth across the grounds in the early morning. Heard from their numbers are cries of indignation and disbelief, having awoken to a good section of their Temple walls destroyed and the nearby vegetation ablaze seemingly overnight. You and Asa sneak your way back to the campfire, exhausted but managing to avoid being spotted anywhere near the site of the destruction. You walk side-by-side with the beautiful blue kunoichi, her mane of smooth, cerulean hair seems to glitter in the morning sunrise.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner about Hoki, Amon. I didn't want to risk letting anything slip."

You shake your head. "I can see how you would think I was a liability, Asa. I get it, I forgive y-."

Her hand abruptly grabs the back of your gi, jerking you back with a stumble. "H-hey what's-"

A single finger is on your lips, shushing you...Asa's finger. Her hand is on your chest and she looks at you with an annoyed expression. She shoves you into the nearby stone wall. You shut up quickly as she slowly lowers her index finger again. Was it something you said? Did you do something wro....

Your eyes go wide as your mind goes blank, all thoughts immediately forgotten.
The only thing you can process right now is...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G-4jQUGHaA
Asa's soft lips on yours.

For a moment in the world, there is nothing else that matters.
You feel nothing besides this kiss. Your nose can only smell the subtle scent of pine that surrounds her.

Your blood begins to pump excitedly. Your face grows hot, your eyes widen. A fiery hunger roars from deep inside you.
You've have never experienced anything like this.

It seems to last for a small eternity as you lose yourself in the sensation of her soft, brown skin....but after a minute, Asa slowly pulls away and opens her eyes again. She cocks her head at you, amused by your doe-eyed, surprised expression. Her warm smile only seems to feed the fires heating your chest.

"I forgive you for ever thinking I consider you a liability. Hoki was your friend. Without the choice you made tonight, I may not even be here right now."
Asa pushes you away lightly her hand. She flashes her smile at you again fleetingly before turning and strutting ahead to your campsite, her wide hips swaying with every bouncing step.

You sit for a few minutes in stunned silence, the only sounds around you are the chirping of birds and the far sounds of monks shifiting brick and stone.

What was that? You...
The hunger from within you gives another shuddering roar. Your head feels light.

You want more of that.
You shuffle back to the campsite, head in a daze. Around the firepit stand an alarmed Rin, the kunai in her hand pointed at the Blue Huntress. A worried Yoru stands looking at her, his brow furrowed in curiosity.

The first to see you approach the scene is a confused Tai. He looks at your approaching, dazed figure and back to Asa. He turns back to you, eyebrow raised and a smirk on his face. He puts his hand over the defensive Rin's arm, lowering both it and the kunai in her hand.

"Amon, what's going on? Where's Hoki?" Yoru asks you, concerned.
"What the hell are you doing with HER, too?" Rin glares uncomfortably at the archer.

You blink a few times, getting back into the right frame of mind. "It turns out Hoki was an extremely dangerous criminal. He attacked Asa and I last night, but we managed to fend him off together. Unfortunately, he managed to escape when he used a genjutsu on us."

Yoru shakes his head incredulously. "That doesn't make sense, though. He was-"

"You hired him, I know. It turns out he has a history of robbing and murder. He admitted it himself. I don't understand it either...or him for that matter, but we may prevented something worse from happening."

Yoru crosses his arms and grows quiet, muttering to himself. "Hoki, a wanted criminal...I may not have liked him, but I wouldn't of guessed he would be...he seemed like a decent man..."

Rin is still glaring at the woman next to you with eyes full of fire. "And, what is she doing here, hunh?"

You think for a moment, but nothing comes to mind. You start to open your mouth, but Asa puts a hand on your arm to shush you. She addresses the others apolgetically.
"I know we've come into conflict before, but if you'd allow it I'd like to put that behind us.

I'm no longer a kunoichi of Kumogakure. In fact, I haven't been for a long time. I defected.
More recently, I've learned that Kumo has deployed a team of ninja with the specific purpose to locate me and 'negotiate my return' to the village. I know for a fact there will be very little negotiation involved.

Without Amon I wouldn't be here now. I'm used to traveling alone, but if there's anyone I'd feel safe alongside it'd be this hero. Let me join you. You could use the extra hand with Hoki gone."

Rin glares daggers at Asa, who returns it in kind with a sickly sweet smile.

"I say no." Rin declares with finality as she walks over to you. She grabs your arm and drags you over to the rest of the companions, eyes still locked with the blue kunoichi. "Amo- WE already have enough people as is, thank you. We'll be fine without another."

Yoru considers the proposition for a moment, before looking at the girl coldly. "What about that trader? Aren't you hunting weapon smugglers?"

"He had sold information about my whereabouts to Kumogakure. You could say I'm here now because of what he did, not that anyone should thank that creep."

Yoru thinks for a moment, before a smile crosses his face and he shrugs. "I don't see a problem with it. I'd prefer a trusty face with us on the road after what happened with the one I hired."

Rin scowls at him, before all the faces in the group turn to the stoic Tai. He looks at you, first.
"I don't approve."
He then turns to the rest of the group just as Rin starts to give Asa a smug look. "But, I have no objections to her traveling with us. I abstain from the vote."

Rin's face drops as the companions turn to you expectantly. Asa looks at you, cautiously hopeful.

Rin holds your arm in a vicegrip, basically claiming it as hers as she and the newcomer try to kill each other with looks alone. You nowly nod and Asa's face relaxes with a sigh. Rin notices and her mouth drops in exasperation. You squeeze her hand.

"Rin, we will need all of the help we can get. This travel has gotten even more dangerous by the day. Please, if not for me, then accept her for the safety of the others."

Rin goes red in the face as she pouts heavily. "It's not them I'm worried about..." she mutters under her breath.

You gently remove your arm from Rin and step forward to Asa. "Asa, I think we'd all be honored to have you join us on our journey."

She smiles warmly to the group. Turning to you with the same expression but with a sultry look in her eyes now, Asa offers you her own hand. "The pleasure is mine."

You feel a bit hot in the face. A bit jittery, you shake it anxiously. She laughs a bit, noticing your brief lapse in nerve.

"I look forward to getting to know all of you."

"We should probably get going. I fear we may have overstayed our welcome." You follow.

The group responds in kind. Rin's face is red for some reason, she looks like she's steaming. It is a bit hot out, you suppose. Your group finishes the pleasantries and begins to pack up camp. As you do so, someone approaches...

You ask him if you can bring Tai. At first he shakes his head, but you insist rigidly. He concedes, telling you in nothing less than certain terms that you may not bring anyone else.

"Follow me, if you both would." He begins to leave, before hesitating and looking back at you with the same, serious expression. "And please have you and your friends refrain from destroying more of this Temple, thank you."

You scratch your head abashedly, a light layer of fuzz has grown on it since you left on your journey. Seems like the monks took more notice than you thought. You can't help but feel a little bad. Remembering the predicament you were left in last time- and the mental note to never separate yourself from your materials again- you grab your pack and the Wen Qu, leaving with the young man and Tai.

As you enter the Temple, you think you hear the faint sound of someone yelling in the distance...

MY. TREEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
*********************************************

The council chambers are thick with incense, leaving you somewhat short of breath. The atmosphere is stifling. The monk, whose name you still haven't learned you note, doesn't take his usual place behind the council of high priests. There are more monks here than before, each one standing in the background behind a high priest- six total.
The young man stands behind you, blocking the doors of the chamber....
Tai glares at the man, uncomfortable, before standing at your shoulder.

The oldest monk, sitting in the middle of the half moon of aged monks in the pillared room, begins.

Amon Shuu, we of the council have discussed the nature of what you had told us earlier. The news was most...concerning

The priest farthest to the right speaks up, to your surprise.

The wraith described within the beads...the profile you provided us...

Another speaks in turn.

Not even our worst fears could have imagined such a fate

Your stomach begins to sink. Something about this doesn't feel...right. You look at Tai, you see him eyeing the monks of priests, suspicious.

There is a small myth, unknown to but a few and hidden in the most esoteric texts, that Bishamon, legendary sage of the eight gates, descended into madness in his lifetime upon witnissing the death of his blood brother, Kannon.

Kannon, a sage and legendary gate himself, would be killed by the same man whom he had sealed a demon into years prior. The first human seal...the first "jinchuriki"

This time the priest on the left, the same one you remember protesting before, speaks.

This heresy was quelled for generations, along with the suggestion that Bishamon had killed two of the remaining gates and claimed their powers for his own. Such a suggestion was not only foolish, but inherently dangerous to the very central tenants to our belief in the Ninshu.

The second to last priest speaks.

He would be stopped by Amida of the Wen Qu, the last living among the gates, and both would disappear entirely from the annals of history...a departure previously believed to have been from reaching moral enlightenment

Finally the last, bearded priest left to the center speaks.

If what you've suggested is true, if Bishamon truly resides within the beads and-potentially-within you....
If it was false, the dangers it would pose to the faith having one of its founders becoming a demon himself...

The oldest finishes.

Amon Shun, for the sake of the world at large....for the sake of our faith....
You cannot be allowed to leave this place. Brother monk, forgive us for what we must do. We do it for the sake of good.

The fire monks in the room shift immediately as one, moving forward into the gaps between the high priests...trapping you. Tai, wide-eyed with shock, takes a fighting stance.

You...

"....You're right, but you don't need to do things this way. We can seal the spirit within me permanently somehow, right?"

The antagonistic priest to your left scoffs.

And then what, I wonder? You wander the nations in the middle of war, possessing the powers of- at the very least- the tailed beast you spoke of? Do you have no shame, no humility? Monks swear to a vow of peace. Would you be so bold as to suggest you would end violence itself? If we let you leave now, we risk the lives of thousands.

"You don't know that! It can be done, I can- I will- resist its influence!"

The head priest in charge waves his hand.

Even if we did, do you think the spirit would allow such a thing? One of the greatest users of fuinjutsu rests within you now...is there any seal truly permanent in such a circumstance?

another speaks

Not only Bishamon, but if our suspicions are correct...it contained more than just his spirit. A portion of the powers, the very essences, of each of the nine tailed beasts may have been sealed within the unassuming beads you picked up that day. The same beads you wore...whose seal you broke.

The head priest speaks with finality.
The nature of the beads is only speculative...but if true, you pose an unimaginable danger even beyond the influence of Bishamon alone.

The...nature of the beads?
"What...what do you mean?"
[Council's Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__gLIyeQYDU ]
This time it is from behind you, the young monk speaks.

"The tailed beasts are pure manifestations of chakra. They are formed from it. They are it. They are the progenitors of chakra and life itself. To have that power..."

The high priest steps off his throne, standing to face you.

The freed tailed beasts are sinks of chakra in this world. Collectively, all forms of chakra, life itself, flow through them like a filter. They are at one with it by their very essence, and ,together, it is them. We only imitate their power, converting natural energies of our own into chakra. What we do is simply conversion and cosumption. To them, all chakra itself....life...is indistinguishable and a source of their power.

The longer we allow you to exist, the more prevalent this effect will become. Consumed by this power of the combined tailed beasts alone, you would become a wraith unto yourself, feeding off the lives around you. Your loved ones, everyone you hold near will risk their very lives by being around you. With the spirit of Bishamon tethered to the Beads as well, the risk of his incarnation...your possession...and the completion of his goal is added to this.

You are an abomination.

You...will, no are...feeding off the lives of those around you?
Rin.
Asa.
Yoru....

Tai puts a hand on your shoulder. "Don't listen to them, Amon. It's impossible. Even if it were...to the very end, we'll stand by you. I couldn't live knowing I had left my brother. Even if it was true...I would spent whatever life I had happily by your side, as it would be a life worth living."

You nod shakily to your brother, before turning to face the council newly heartened.

"So far all you have offered is speculation and guesswork. And even if what you say is true...you would keep the truth about Bishamon a secret? You would admit defeat? How could you claim to follow the path of truth and understanding by keeping all of this hidden and forgotten?"

"Your actions are understandable, but they are wrong. This is not the way of Ninshu."

"I am Amon Shuu, one of two surviving monks of the Water Temple and inheritor of the teachings of the great sage, Myatsuu. The future is never decided. The actions of lesser and greater men ripple eternally, nothing is certain. If anyone can prevent this, I can. I will.
If you would help me, I can design a seal to end all seals. Even if you don't help me, I will work with my own efforts to never allow such a thing to pass."

The monks in the room falter. The priests look at one another with expressions of skeptisism and uncertainty. The high priest considers what you said for a moment, before he sits back down.

You have three days, Amon Shuu. I pray for your success.

You bow to the council, although Tai does not imitate the gesture, and walk to the doors. The young monk stands in your way, glaring at you and unmoving. Tai walks past you, grabs the man, and throws him behind you on the floor.

He begins to get up, his face contorted with rage, when the other monks gather towards him. They restrain him as they retreat back to the corners of the room.

Our monks will assist you in any and all ways possible, Amon. Use our libraries, use your knowledge, use your talents...and may luck be on your side, for all our sakes.
**********************************************

As you leave the room, Tai closes the door behind the two of you. You turn and embrace him in a firm hug. He hesitates for a moment, before he briefly returns the gesture. "Hey now, no need for that."

You separate and Tai looks at you seriously. "You don't have much time. What first? We'll get you anything you need.

Oh, do you want to keep this tread bumped until the next session?
>>
fuck twitter's character limit, I'll write it here.

I like the direction of the story so far, and all the reveals and lore you've put in show that you've put in your own work. The quest requires the players to actually think tactically in combat situations due to our big thing being seals, an art that either takes preparation beforehand or using wits in combat to shift the battlefield to a more favorable position.

As for the characters, you've written them all pretty well as far as I can see after conversing with them a scant amount, so I can't really pick a favorite of them. I can pick out who's best of the 3 waifus we've been given, though. I look forward to meeting more characters and seeing your interpretation of them, considering all you've done so far.

As for flaws, I personally get a bit confused when you use italics to denote another person speaking, but I can get used to that.

TL;DR bretty gud so far, keep up the good shit. Also, I'm not a critic, so maybe others could offer some insight. I saw a thread about that sort of thing up, you could submit yours for critique if you want it from people who may be more versed in this sort of thing

on an unrelated note, fuck me, we have parts of all the tailed beasts inside us/the beads, holy shit. THAT is some power. We'll either never use it, or we'll use it at the end due to the powers of friendship we make with the beasts. I doubt we could make buddy-buddy with them though. Maybe Chomei, but beyond that, I doubt it.
>>
>>764423
my main complaint is that we just kinda suddenly had these intensely strong emotional bonds with other characters and I'm not really sure exactly when or how they developed in such a short time
>>
>>764473
I think it's due to loss and hardship forming companionship. I mean, we were the ones who found out about Rin being a jinchuuriki and counseling her about it. We've met people who were and are emotionally vulnerable, counseled them, showed emotional vulnerability in turn, and were counseled by them.. I'll admit we have grown close and fond of people fast, but not so fast that I feel it's unrealistic.

Also, is it really so intense? I mean, we've been friendly with them, and tried to be a shoulder to lean on. Except with Asa, who we leaned on in our time with her. Thogh, I'll admit, she is a bit more touchy-feely with Amon. I mean, that kiss came from fuckin' nowhere. It may have been only Amon feeling the way he did though, Asa may just have wanted him to shut his self-depreciating hole for a bit, and wanting him to keep her around so that she wouldn't be left alone as a missing nin.

That and, I mean, have you seen how fucking ripped Amon is? Man is built like a brick shithouse at only 2/6 strength, combined with his lack of knowledge of the outside world to instill a bit of puppy-dog innocence, and penchant for saying wise bullshit sometimes can tickle some fancies.
>>
>>764517
They have been through a bit of a crucible already.

Also, Asa is a smart girl...and a bit manipulative. She cares for the people closest to her, but she is both very confident, knows what she's got, and gets what she wants.

The ripped Amon pic can be considered as a year or so in the future. Amon is lean, mean, monk machine, but is still on the younger side and not so strong yet. He mostly uses his opponent's strength and momentum against them in fights, so if you were to outright attack people the whole noodly aspect would become apparent.

>>764473
This is valid and I'm glad someone noticed it.

Note what the priests said regarding the nature of the beads and what it means ir you.

You're leeching from them slowly, but it will progressively escalate in a more drastic fashion if left untreated. You're bonding with these people, literally attaching to their life force and absorbing small parts of them.

It's fair to say they're becoming attached somewhat quickly...without even realizing it.

Thanks for the discussion and feedback everyone! Glad to see you thinking about the quest!
>>
>>764929
well fuck, my justification for friendship just got BTFO'd. Ah well, more of a reason to get the seal on ourselves right. Can't be jiang-shiing our buddies to death. Though it could be a potent weapon if we could control it. Siphon chakra out of our enemies, maybe drain their stamina too, then just leave them alone.
>>
>>764976
You're definitely spot on with the friendship, it's just your actions have been taken with a bit more potentcy than expected.

They're also becoming more attached to you on a passive basis as well as long as you're around them.

You an Asa do realistically get along and mesh well, there was nothing fake about that. She does care, as do the others, but just keep in mind what's up.

It could be used for good. Who knows? You could get to know a few interesting characters here and there...

For some reason that makes me think of the Persona series and their social link system. I don't think we go out of our way to form bonds with people like that, Amon is a genuine and stand up guy which is why I like him so much, he just tries to do the right thing and does his best.

~DAY 1~ (Three Options)
(Anons Choose: tailed beasts, meditation, current scrolls )
You tell Tai to search through the library for anything related to the Tailed Beasts. Also...you tell him to apologize on your behalf to the others. The journey will have to be delayed for a little while, at least until you figure something out.

If you even can.
Tai acknowledges this, saying he'll be back within a day and to keep your chin up. He runs down the hallways and you lose sight of him as he turns a corner. Your head is throbbing from exhaustion. When was the last time you rested?

When was the last time you slept?

Shaking yourself awake doesn't help. Your mind is too fuzzy to begin something of this magnitude. A nearby monk tells you where the meditation chambers are when you ask, figuring if you need to get some type of rest this would be the best way to go about it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ8RoCfYguA

You walk through the doors and into the stark empty room. It would seem that the other monks are fully preoccupied with other tasks at this time of the day. You take a mat and place it before the statue of the golden buddle, the sticks of incense still leaving a thin smog in the upper rafters of the compact room. You sit cross-legged in meditation.

You begin the mantras in your head, repeating the phrases you remember all too well. You lose yourself in your thoughts, the words of enlightenment the last thing you remember before slipping into deep slumber.
There is a fork in the road ahead. Which path will you take?
>The right faintly echoes with the sounds of lapping water along the shore. An old smile, a forgotten memory. A miracle in the flesh.

You smell salt. The sound of waves lap against your ears, alongside a soft, old voice chanting. You open your sore eyes. The ground seems to bob up and down far below you. The earth underfoot moves with every step of the silver-haired man carrying you on his back. The salty breeze rubs against your face, resting on the shoulders of the middle-aged monk.

The sun sets to your left, leaving the ocean shimmering in shades of gold. The overlooking dirt path you're on seems to stretch ahead for miles...

The body of faith shall burn away impurity
The bones will transform into relics of the Buddha
The ordinary mind will rise from coals of wisdom
The heart shall become diamond
Yea, as I walk through the valleys of death
I shall not fear evil
Thy truth is the staff, thy love is the light
In search of treasures, I shall't not succumb to the abyss
The Ninshu shall guide me

The words the old man says seem to soothe your aching heart. The weight on your mind, the thoughts of fire and death...of carnage...
vanish

What a nice prayer, you think to yourself as you slowly slip back into peaceful slumber. Someday, you'd like to learn it for yourself....

[Learned: Mantra of Ninshu- Stength of the Soul]
[Effect: ?]

You awake with a start to the meditation room. Damn, you'd fallen asleep! You hardly have any time to waste like this! But...the words of the mantra from the memory still lie fresh in your memory. The words Myatsuu had spoken, carrying you across the coastlines of the Land of Water.

It seems to resonate with you, strangely. You can't help but feel whole as you say it, remembering the phrases word-for-word. You leave the meditation chamber a little calmer, sure that you have found something more valuable than a jutsu or seal.

The Iron Armor Seal is perfect for what we want. It (somewhat) resists changes in to our chakra from interior influence as well. We could modify it to protect from a specific form of influence, since every entity's chakra is unique. We'd just have to find the Bead's specific chakra in our system. Or our friends, since it's indirectly affecting them as well.
>>
>>767232
Hiragans scroll.
>>
>>767314
Actually, what thread did we read Hiragan's scroll in? I need to go back over what we learned from it. If we take whatever Hiragan used to seal Bishamon in the first place, and merge that and a version of the Iron Armor Seal we make ourselves, it would seriously reduce the chances of Bishamon being able to influence the seal, since he wouldn't be able to use his chakra to affect it.
>>
>>767314
But do we have any way to track that specific influence? I agree that the basis should be the iron seal, but we need to know more.

Oh, alight. Is it possible for Amon to make his own seals based off of other seals? And to Amon's knowledge, is it possible to make those seals only affect specific chakra... signatures or whatever they'd be called?

>>
>>767460
....hunh, I think I wrote that at like 1am.

Need 4 intelligence out of 6 total in the stat to decrypt the 4chan scroll. Amon currently has 3.5

It is possible for Amon to make his own seals from other seals. Consider this a (crash) course in going about that, albeit with quite high stakes.

Amon made a seal that affected only a specific chakra signature not too long ago, if you remember...

OK, so, we need a plan. I think what we do is find out how Hiragan actually sealed Bishamon and the small portions of the Tailed Beasts into the Beads, hopefully we may even get a picture or diagram of the seal since the beads broke and we don't have time to fit the thousands of pieces back together.

From there, we study the Uzumaki chains and the Iron Armor Seal. The chains can seal a specific entity's chakra completely, and the Iron Armor Seal keeps other chakra from affecting our chakra. So we find out what parts of the Uzumaki seal pertains specifically to sealing chakra, and what makes the Iron Armor seal block internal chakra changes.

And since >>767498 reminded me we made that See No Evil seal for Yoru (kinda forgot about that after the shit that went down afterwards...) that might help as well.

Then we just Frankenstein all the parts we need into one big seal and tattoo it on ourselves.

We'll probably also need to find a seal that keeps Bishamon's influence from affecting others through Amon specifically, since the first seal seems like it'll specifically affect Amon only. This is just the first step though.

If we prove we can keep Bishamon from taking us over to the monks, they may give us more time to work out the second part.

I meant IC, since Naruto's author didn't make written rules for the layout of seals (as far as I can tell.) For Amon to puzzle out what each specific part does and how it does it.

I remember you describing a seal earlier along the lines of being taller than a person and super complicated. You'd need to be a professional to make a real version of something like that. And be really good at patterns and layouts.
>>
>>767634
I'll make an entire SOMA-level system of seal design and layout later on for you to play with.

Amida! That's his name. I remembered the guy was the user of the Wen Qu I hope Senpai notices us... but for the life of me could not remember his name. I just remembered Hiragan's scroll mentioned sealing Bishamon and just went with it.
>>
>>767671
So to simplify >>767538

We take the Sealing bits from the Uzumaki Chains, the bit of the Iron Armor Seal that resists internal influence, the part of the Hear No Evil Seal that targets a specific entity's chakra, and add that to Amida's seal of Bishamon that should be on the Beads after we puzzle it out.

From there we study other seals to see if they can add something useful and add those parts too.

Does this sound good to everyone? Am I missing anything?

>>
>>767868
We used our own blood in the ink, maybe we just need to do it again. I like your idea too though.
>>
>>767883
Well if we mixed our blood into it it would affect us. We need something from the beads so it affects what was sealed in them.

At least I'm pretty sure that logic's sound.
>>
>>767902
The line between us and the things were sealing is pretty thin since they live inside us so both might work better. The beads were just their former vessel though and we're the current vessel so maybe the beads aren't so important now.
>>
>>767944
Bishamon and the tailed beast fragments are still their own entity inside of us, their chakra isn't our chakra. Bishamon is just using us and our chakra to affect the world with his. That's why tailed beast transformations and such are possible in the canon, the jinjuriki are using the beast's chakra instead of their own. At least I'm 95% sure that's how it works.

I'm think that since the beads were his vessel for hundreds or thousands of years, they'll still have a trace of him. But I'm just gonna ask Red anyway.

>>767819
That is how the tailed beasts and jinjuriki work in canon right?

Hiragan's Scroll (163+53+55+40= 311)
[Threshold Met: (300/400)]
[Technique Learned- Four Symbols Seal]
[This is a sealing technique based on the fūinjutsu of Uzushiogakure's former Uzumaki clan. The sealing formula is used to seal and constrain any target into a human body or an object. Acts as a lock of sorts on prexisting seals. Does not inherently seal anything itself. Generally used in conjunction with the Uzumaki Sealing Technique to strengthen the seal.]

Remains of the Red Beads (162+85+16+63=326)
[Threshold Met: (300/?)]
[Technique Learned- Dharma Power Seal]
[A particularly rare technique, the Dharma Power Seal is a sealing formula written on the body of the user or item. When activated, the formula allows for a bridge to form between the chakra networks of the first individual to come into contact with the user/item.]

>>767995
The lines between your two chakras will progressively become blurred, until they amalgamate completely.

In cannon, the beasts were sealed away separately inside their hosts. The host could access this sort of "sealed container" within themselves, along with the tailed beast's power.

If that makes any sense. It worked differently depending on the seal used for the jinchuriki. For example, while Naruto and Nine-tails were distinctly separate, B's and the Eight-Tail's chakra were stated to have become indistinguishable in canon.

Different seals, different methods/effects
>>
>>768078
Alright, the Four Symbols Seal will definitely help.

I'm not good enough at lateral thinking to see how the Dharma Power Seal will really help. I mean, if we used a seal like you described Naruto's we might be able to just take Bishamon's power, but it would give him a way to affect the outside world and Amon. Seems too risky to be helpful.
>>
>>768078
I don't get it, I feel like the description of the four symbols seal contradicts itself
>>
>>768120
We also need to contend with the parts of the tailed beasts within the beads. Perhaps we can seal the beads within ourselves to keep anyone from messing with them, but doing that doesn't help with our current issue

welcome to my life of trying to describe what was naruto plot-magic

It doesn't "seal" an object into anything inherently, but rather just helps in the process.

Monks fear the influence from the beads/Bishamon could lead us to becoming a possessed avatar of destruction. So our seal should focus on locking that power/influence away so it cannot affect us, right?
>>
>>768154
Well the Beads themselves don't matter much anymore. After they were broken everything sealed in them transferred to us. They were just a vessel and now we're the vessel. I'm hoping that they have traces of everything that was sealed in them, because we don't have time to go around the world and get samples of the whole tailed beast to make them part of the seal.

You study Hiragan's scroll and the broken remnants of the Red Beads late into the night, pouring your mind over the materials. You restore sections of the old archivist's scroll and transcibe his footnotes and diagrams into your own journal. You think you've managed to glean a bit more information about both the old archivist's journey from his footnotes...and you've learned more of the story written in the scroll itself, now realized to be the account of the Legendary Gate Kannon.

In Hiragan's notes of the old scroll/journal you see references to a "treasure" found deep in the humid plateaus of The Land of Lightning. Further scribbles reference a "City of Whirlpools" housing the final resting place of one of the Legendary Gates. You manage to break down the complicated, segmented formulae written in the old man's handwriting and piece it together to form a seal.

The journal of Kannon details his journey of penance across the great continents. You decide to set aside the scroll to read later, however. There are more pressing matters at hand for now.

You study what is left of the Red Beads, their broken glass and red cloth at first leaving you empty-handed of any answers. However, you begin to dissect it piece-by-piece. You notice on one of the beads, shards more intact than any the others, miniscule etchings in the glass. This will require quite a bit of time to look over...more than you have at the moment. You take to the cloth that binded the beads together, carefully picking the strands apart. On the cords of red fiber you see tiny chains of formulae bunched and bound together. It takes well into the night before you manage to rewrite the seals into your journal and interpret them.

It's nearly midnight when Tai walks through the door with an armful of books, some dusty some freshly bound. You drops them on your desk.

"I've managed to gather everything from the chakra natures of the Tailed Beasts to their last recorded locations, that one being particularly nasty to find. It wasn't even in the normal shelves, we actually managed to find a room behind one of the bookshelves when someone tried to pull a false book. You should have seen the d- ah, forget it. You have more important work to do.

What else do you need?"

The Uzumaki chains, specifically the chakra sealing part, and the Iron Armor Seal. They're our best bet right now for making a seal capable of keeping Bishamon contained. We can worry about how to do it after we make the seal.

You thank Tai and ask him to look up anything in the massive library related to ritualistic sealing.
"Anything in particular?" He asks, scratching his head.

"Everything."

Tai eyes grow wide for a minute, before he forces back a determined grin.
"If it can be done, it will."

As Tai once more rounds up the reluctant monks and snaps them back to work, you begin to form the basis for your seal. You take the largest, blank scroll you have and begin by transporting all information you've compiled on the Heavenly Seal: Iron Armor Seal and Heavenly Seal: Adamantine Bind Technique. It takes most of the day, as you watch the sun rise to its zenith through the Library windows and gradually begin to fall. By early-afternoon, this first step is done.

Outside, the monks still hustle to-and-fro to the pace of Tai's barking orders. You feel your thoughts slowly degenerate to a static buzz. If you stopped, you fear the exhaustion would consume you immediately. But, as it is you are a machine of a man, moving from one written text to another. Your hand hasn't stopped moving for hours and went numb long ago.

This isn't just for you anymore.

You begin the second portion of the task, dissecting the individual elements of each technique on another, separate scroll. The innumerable sets of relations between the symbols are organzied by effect and by parent technique. You set aside entire columns of symbolic logic, using the blank header and footer of the scroll as a worksheet of sorts.

It is mid-evening by the time you finish this. A few monks have collapsed outside, but Tai burns on. His passion inspires you to push everything out of your mind, focusing solely on the effective seal you intend to form. You work through the night, your hand beginning to chafe from constantly holding the brush in your hand. Countless attempts fail before you as in inspect them, theoretically unsound. The balance in the underlying structures fails in your first try. In your second, you think you have made a groundbreaking discovery in logic only to have your hopes crushed on realizing you made several key mistranslations in your progressively escalating exhaustion.

Tai comes in at one point, but sees you working feverishly, eyes bloodshot. He says nothing, and leaves only a thick pad of paper, a summary of his findings, on your desk for you to read later.
>>
By daybreak...you have it. You finally have it.
The combination of the iron armor seal and the admantine binding technique is...expansive, if you were being modest. You would probably need an empty room's worth of space to write the seal in its entirety. The combined technique you have will perform well, at least as a foundation.

>Anons combine: (Heavenly Seal: Iron Armor Seal) + (Heavenly Seal: Adamantine Bind Technique)
>This seal must be exclusively tattooed on an individual. The Adamantine chains formed by the Heavenly Seal are now functionally invulnerable to any external influence and cannot be broken. Additionally, the tattooed chain seals provide protection comparable to the Iron Armor Seal, passively preventing direct manipulation of the chakra network by foreign factors- even internal as well, to a degree. This would prevent most genjutsu, as well as the absorption of your chakra.

>Unfortunately, there seem to be some complications to the newly created technique. On activating the chains, your chakra is sealed entirely for the duration. You cannot produce additional chakra and will have difficulty manipulating what chakra you do have due to the constraints. Additionally, the technique shares the weakness of the iron armor seal, namely the method of application in the effect. It will slowly lose its efficacy over time as your chakra and the that of the beads becomes indistinguishable.

So I was thinking maybe we could use the iron armor seal on bishamon and the tailed beasts chakra specifically to contain it and keep it from mixing with ours. Or apply the spirit bind chakra confusion effect to them to disable their chakra completely. The question is how to isolate their chakra from our own and make it a target of a seal. We need to learn more about using blood with seals.
>>
>>768864
Well my idea was to see if the Beads still had traces of them, since they were sealed in them so long, and if they did turn the fragments into a powder somehow and mix that into the ink of the seal.
>>
>>768876
Instead of specifically targeting bishamon and all the beasts inside us it would be easier to just exclude our natural chakra from a seals effects using our blood somehow. Like excluding one chakra signature is simpler than specifically including several different chakra signatures

As far as my (very limited) knowledge of Naruto canon goes, I don't think you can do that. I could be wrong, we'll have to ask red to be sure. And using the beads is the simple way, all you have to do is add the powder to the ink, like how Amon added his blood to Yoru's Hear No Evil seal. Again assuming that the Beads will work as an example of their chakra. We need to find that out.

It might even be as simple as adding our blood to the ink used to tattoo an iron armor seal on our own body. Who knows?

Hey Red, can I think of this like programming? If this then this and all that. I could just list out everything and try to make some sort of pseudocode for it. I'm much better at thinking in code than simi-nebulous knowledge of a setting I'm not familiar with.

You feel like shit, plain and simple. The light of the sunrise hurts your eyes. Your body aches and demands sleep. But...
You look at the seal stretched before you across the room on the scroll. This isn't complete, not yet.

You feel a manic anxiety flood through you as you realize it's the third and last day. You don't have time to worry. You don't have time to think, let alone breathe. You have to work, have to keep going, have...have...

Two fair-skinned arms wrap around your neck from behind. Rin leans in, her soft cheeks rubbing your own increasingly gaunt, bruised ones. She doesn't say a word, the two of you just sit for a few moments. You enjoy the comfortable silence in your thoughts, for once.

You feel your eyes droop slightly, but the feeling of Rin's cheek rubbing on yours keeps you awake.

After a few moments, she releases the embrace and pulls up a chair next to you, looking at your corpse-like complexion with concern. You try to think of something to say, but have trouble coming up with any sort of cohesive thought. Rin looks at you with some degree of sadness in her eyes as she puts a meagar plate of food on one of the only somewhat empty spots on the table.

"You haven't eaten in days, Amon...have you?"

You shake your head. You try to reach for the fork, but your fingers can't seem to grasp it. It falls out of your hand. You try again, but have the same issue and can't even lift it. Rin looks at you with pity and sighs.

"Come on, turn this way. We promised to help each other, remember? A promise is a promise!" She gives a soft smile as she grabs the utensil, starting to feed you slowly. You feel a little embarrassed by this...but can't complain, as you begin to physically feel better as you continue to eat. Rin's face has a patient, cheerful expression as she continues, talking to you as she does so.

"Tai managed to find someone at the Temple who can do tattoo today. He said it would probably be needed for some kind of ritual or something..."

She looks at you, concerned. "You're not going to get hurt, are you?"

You shake your head. To be fair, you're not sure yourself so it isn't a lie. Rin smiles at this though.

"...good. Well, Yoru is busy helping the old guy find the right tools for it. He became very interested on hearing the details of the procedure. Asa..." Rin scowls. "...well, she's gone finding a room, thankfully. I volunteered to help apply whatever the seal or tattoo is. They're expecting it to be more than a one person job."

She finishes feeding you and puts her hand on your cheek. "Tai....told us, Amon. Don't hurt yourself trying anything, okay?"

With that, she quietly takes her things and leaves you to complete your work.

So, the part we just made is like code that basically says Stop if it's ever invoked, it just stops code from running at all. But if we made it to exclude Amon's chakra, it becomes an if - then, else statement for manipulating Amon's chakra.

def Chakra Manipulation:
If Amon: Allow.
If else: Stop.

We just have to make it passively affect Amon at all times, no matter what. Basically make it self recurring code. Basically just add Run: Chakra Manipulation after each if statement. I have no idea what seal would do that, since the seal we just made with the chains is active only. Does someone else know? This is the next step we have to do.

After that we add the Four Symbols, which doesn't really have a coding equivalent since it's a multiplier and code doesn't work that way.

So everyone, we need a passive seal to add to the chakra sealing chains we made. Which one do we have that can do that?

Could we roll a wisdom check for Amon?

a decent idea, not gonna lie

but attuning the iron armor seal to your own chakra does *just* let your own chakra pass through unhindered. It does that anyway.

It would specifically block the influence of the person specified using the blood ink. That...may not be a good idea?
>>
QM's personal suggestion:

>Combine the Four Symbols Seal with your current constructed one?
>Yes
>No

>Combine the Dharma seal with your current constructed one?
>Yes
>No

These will both count as actions in their own right. Note that otherwise, I'll take the tailed beast and ritual practices vote as the majority
>>
>>769158
Well we need to figure out how to use blood to exclude chakra signatures then. And I don't think any of our existing seals would do that. Can amon just make one up? I want to make a permanent spirit bind tattoo that excludes our own chakra only.
>>
>>769134
not how spirit bind effects things, not how see-no-evil fundamentally works...

http://pastebin.com/3vzHnmkj
>>
>>769173
Four Symbols would make it last longer, but what would the Dharma seal do?
>>
>>769134
>>769148
We need a way to keep Bishamon and the tailed beasts from merging with our chakra, so that the seal with always affect them. Then we do >>769110, I'm getting my priorities backwards.

The next problem is that the spirit chains won't work as a passive measure.
>On activating the chains, your chakra is sealed entirely for the duration. You cannot produce additional chakra and will have difficulty manipulating what chakra you do have due to the constraints

Once we get these two things down we should be set.
>>
>>769173
I was kinda thinking the adamantine chains were a dead end since the chains would exist in the physical world and we're dealing with metaphysical stuff inside our own body. How would that even work?
>>
>>769192
Four symbols would let you effectively have better control over the seal and how it effects your chakra

Dharma seal does what it does. It may take advantage of the changing nature of your blended chakra and the constraints of the adamantine chain seals.
>>
>>769173
Yes to both I guess. I'm gettin too tired for this shit
>>
>>769194
For Bishamon, you may just want to keep him sealed away in you. After all, he wants out.

For the tailed beasts...well, you'd have to get their chakra the hard way and add it to the tattoo seal to accomplish what you're suggesting.
>>
>>769208
I'll swap out the vote for reading about the tailed beasts for adding the Four symbols then. When the Chakra blending gets to be more of a threat we can add the Dharma seal along with whatever other improvements we cook up by then.
>>
>>769208
Actually, it's fucking stupid to wait until a threat is a threat. I'll say yes to both. Sorry for being so damn wishy-washy.
>>
>>769232
We'd be really vulnerable using our constructed seal without the dharma seal though. Having no chakra would be a bitch. I think we should focus on making the seal before we read about the process of applying it.
>>
>>769173
>>Combine the Four Symbols Seal with your current constructed one?
>>Yes
>>Combine the Dharma seal with your current constructed one?
>>No
Unless I'm reading everything completely wrong (very possible, I'm buzzed and sleepy), what Dharma does is one of the things we're trying to keep from happening. Including that seems to be a really bad idea. More control, on the other hand, good idea.
Swapping out my vote

For Four Seals and
>>Try to dredge through the information on the Tailed Beasts
>>
>>769225
Alright, I'll vote for adding the Four Symbols Seal and the Dharma seal. I'm too tired to be coding and all this complicated seal stuff.

I'd add something about improving the chains to be passive or finding a seal that would do it, but I can't think of anything that would other than maybe the Four Symbols. I keep going over everything we know and just feel like I'm missing something obvious.
>>
>>769259
I'm thinking adding the dharma seal would just let us use the foreign chakra inside us when our own chakra gets sealed by the main seal we made. I could be wrong though.
>>
QM is going to make an executive decision because this is both taking too long and making everyone a bit too tired.

You begin to dredge through the books on the tailed beasts. What you find is...disconcerting.
The beasts are pure manifestations of chakra. They are literally made of it. They are as follows, in order:

Shukaku- Last Known Location: Sealed within a pot, Sunagakure
Matatabi- Last Known Location: Unknown, The Land of Lightning
Isobu- Last Known Location: Unknown, The Land of Water
Son Goku- Last Known Location: Sealed within a human, The Land of Earth
Kokuo- Last Known Location: Sealed within a human, Iwagakure
Saiken- Last Known Location: Sealed within a missing-nin, The Land of Water
Chomei- Last Known Location: Unknown, The Land of Waterfalls
Gyuki- Last Known Location: Sealed within a human, Kumogakure
Kurama- Last Known Location: Sealed within a human, Konohagakure

Each materializes different natures of chakra, feeding from the energy around them. They are functionally immortal and will eventually reform from large deposits of ambient chakra if destroyed. When sealed, this effect comes into play as they adapt to match the chakra which surrounds them- in this case that of the human.

It seems they have individual identities. You would need to collect the chakra or blood of each individual tailed beast somehow and add it to your seal if you wanted to completely imprison them and block their influence. You imagine that might make things a bit more difficult for the spirit Bishamon.

...Do these things even bleed?

Regardless, you turn back to your work. With a final push, you spend the next hours adding the Four Symbols Seal to your creation...
It's done. This...could work for the time being.

>Seal created..... Seal of Babylon: Adamantine Chains of Heaven

>This seal must be exclusively tattooed.

>By adding the Four Symbols Seal to this, you have greater control and stability in application. Your chakra is no longer sealed when you activate the technique. Additionally, you can choose *when* and *how much* of your chakra you exude.

>The seal acts as a lock on your own, blended chakra. You can fully release this lock on your seal for brief periods of time, allowing you to continously absorb chakra from your environment and any nearby individuals in it.
>When fully locked, the seal will restrict the influence of your sealed chakra to a fixed minimum. In simple terms, you can restrict the effects to what they were when the seal was applied by fully *locking* your seal.

>Be careful not to unlock the seal for extended periods, as you can easily be overcome by the freed powers within you.
>>
>>769495
So we have a shitload of tailed beast chakra, bishamon chakra, our own chakra, and we absorb chakra passively too? Where does all that chakra go?

So, we're still kinda screwed because we still kill everyone around us.

Also Jesus we need to be careful. Having access to anyone's chakra at any time is like Orochimaru's wet dream.
>>
You look on your creation...your own, unique seal. It won't stop the slow merging of your chakra with that of the beads, but it will restrict the effects. This will do it. Any more will take time and more materials...you may have a chance of beating this after all.

You take the designs, stumbling out of the room you'd been in for the past few days and out the door of the library. You take one shuddering step at a time towards the end of it...when around the corner steps the young monk from a few days ago in the council chambers. You looks at your disheveled figure with the first expression of utter surprise you've seen on his face.

He rushes forward but before he can reach you, you thrust out the scrolls in your hands with a final show of strength.
"Told...you...I could do...it."

And you collapse from exhaustion.

I'll exec decision and say we save what happens next for tomorrow's new thread.

That's it for now. Thread tomorrow, probably actually in the early afternoon this time.

Twitter: @TheRedL4dy for quest times of your naruto fanfiction, Asa art yet unreleased, geeking out because SEALS, and goldie wars

Twitter will be usually updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning with any quest times for the following two days/weekend.

Pastebin to be updated...eventually.

Post Thread discussion away. Good shit today. Thoughts on the product? I'll organize the process to be more streamlined in the future. Any Questions? Suggestions? Characters yet to be seen and/or just not yet revealed to be coming in the near future by yours truly that you'd want included?

Literally shoot...just no tailed beast waifus, please...
>>
>>769645
Thanks for running, Rin is best girl. Have we gotten better at seals after those 3 days?
>>
>>769645
This was really fun. Planning and researching, as well as hypothesizing what seals would combine to make which effect, it was pretty rad. We'll definitely have to do more as we improve our special seal over time.

Again, you should probably call a revote if you offer gm suggestions or discussion topics for the task at hand.

I hope the monks here will let us leave with a book about how to apply seal tattoos, we need to know if we're gonna upkeep this shit while journeying around looking for ways to improve our own seal.
>>
>>769645
Since Chomei's undisputedly best waifu, and part of her is part of us, can we waifu her.
HAHAHAHA THERE IS NO ESCAPE AS LONG AS I'M AROUND.

I'm really scared to ask, but what do you think Orochimaru's thoughts would be on Amon chakra literally being an amalgamation of everything and everyone with chakra he's ever met? Including long-dead fuinjutsu masters and every single tailed beast?

And thanks for running Red, see you next time.
I'll find a way to shitpost about tailed beast waifus then too!
>>
>>769645

>>

>>769676
Rin will probably learn a bit from this, enough to help

>>769678
If Amon plays his cards correctly...Orochi will never know.

Hell, nobody will besides the immediate group of companions.

But, when anons eventually showboat...well, Amon will have justifiable reasons to lay low and keep moving.
>>
>>769701
sweet, more of a reason to keep her around other than the fact that she's best waifu out of the 3 though we'll see how her village feels about that. And even if she does get to stay, I still want that, if only because I'd feel bad about solely relying on her to do it all the damn time.

And I hope we don't unnecessarily use this power, it would be quite out of character. We should only disengage the lock if it's do or die time, and at no other junction should we even really hint that we have this, unless given very good reason to.
>>
>>769718
there are heavy incentives not to, I've already worked out the system
>>
>>769718
Yeah, can we just say that there'll always be two votes against even mentioning the lock, let alone releasing it, so long as the situation isn't life and death? It would be completely stupid to do it otherwise.
>>
>>769727
Oh no. What if we bond with Orochi, but instead of becoming a better person due to Amon, he goes all yandere and shit? Truly, this is the worst -but most entertaining- possibility for pedosnek.
>>
>>769748
Or better yet, that happens but he also tries to become a better person but keeps messing up and Amon has to keep correcting him when he thinks he's doing something good but isn't. It would be hilarious.

>>770830
There is no formal, generalized relationship between ninjas and monks.

Besides the facts monks do not approve of:
1) Ninjutsu, as it is essentially weaponized chakra

2) Violence/War, but that's obvious

Beyond that, it would depend on individual interpersonal relationships. Whether a ninja treats a monk with respect or as an example of an archaic, dusty belief system is entirely dependent on the person in question.

Orochimaru and Hidan might not give a shit, while someone like Itachi or Kakashi might be a little more pious/dignified towards them.

I wouldn't say it'd be a normal interaction though. Think of it this way, how would you react to see a Catholic or Shinto priest when walking down the street one day? (Or any man of faith for that matter)

So, for whatever reason thread 7 isn't visible on suptg, but it is archived. So if you're going through the archives wondering where thread 7 is, this isn why you can't find it.

To get to it, you need to open any archived thread from the qst board, you'll know it because the site address will have qstarchive in it. From there, copy paste this number: 748165 in the spot of the number in the address. That's the post number of the original post of the thread, and it'll take you right to thread 7.
