>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

Doyu isn't doing so well, but this gives you a perfect opportunity. Stepping forward, you stomp on the ground and thrust your arms up, creating a pillar of Earth that rises up and slams into the hunter's groin.

As he lets out a high-pitched sound of pain, you smile.

But, that smile is quickly wiped from your face as you hear Lantana cry out in surprise. That sound's quickly followed by the laughter of Kalana, and what you swear is gasping.

The hunter is momentarily incapacitated. Perhaps the others can handle him while you deal with Kalana. Or, maybe you shouldn't risk it, and should try to finish him off.

As the hunter hunches over in pain, you pull up a small pebble and send it flying at him with great force, striking him in the side of the head and causing him to fall sideways to the ground, hurt and further disoriented. Then, you stomp forward, creating a pit beneath him while at the same time pulling up a massive chunk of Earth.

As he plummets down into darkness, you drop the boulder into the pit after him. You hear a scream, and then silence.

You expect him to just pop up again, make some comment about how weak your attack was, or how you underestimated him, maybe even tell you that he's impressed, but you'll have to do better than that.

But, he doesn't resurface, and no attack comes flying at you out of nowhere.

It looks like he's finally beaten.

There's little time to pat yourself on the back, as Mauya cries out in fear.

"Lantana!"

Spinning, you find the Avatar on her knees, gasping for air as Kalana stands in front of her, dagger at the ready.

"That's it..." she tells your friend. "Gasp....you can't breathe. There's only one way out of this, Avatar. So, where's the glowing?"

As Mauya and the others run in your direction, you, as the only person close enough to do so, strike at Kalana, ripping up a chunk of Earth and hurling it toward the Airbender, who does a sideways flip out of the way before hurling the dagger in her hand directly at your face.

You manage to sidestep in time to avoid it, feeling the air on your cheek as it whizzes past your face and clatters uselessly on the ground in the distance. Without missing a beat, you step forward, raising the ground in front of you, and continuing to do so in a sort of trail that stretches from where you stand to where Kalana stands, throwing her off balance, and causing her to lose her focus on attacking Lantana.

Your friend falls forward, her hands on the ground as she coughs violently and struggles to suck air back into her lungs as quickly as possible.

"Damn..." Kalana growls as she regains her footing.

But, she's not out of the woods yet, as you rush forward, flanked by Mauya and Sansha. You hurl a boulder her way, which she drops backward to avoid. It shoots over her head, and she shoots some air toward the ground to help herself rise back up, just in time to take a jet of water to the face.

Kalana falls to the ground, and Sansha rushes forward, reaching the fallen Airbender fast and stabbing downward. Kalana rolls out of the way and kicks upward, sending Sansha flying back with a gust of wind. However, Doyu uses his Airbending to help her land safely.

Back on her feet, Kalana backs away as you and your friends approach, positioning yourselves between her and Lantana.

"Fine, you win this round," Kalana concedes. "But the battle doesn't end here. This is just the beginning, and I promise you, when this ends, I'll be the one still standing."

She creates a howling wind that pushes you all back, keeping you unable to attack long enough for her to leap onto her flying bison and begin a hasty retreat.

With Kalana retreating into the distance, the danger seems to have passed.

That is, until you see the Shirshu rushing in your direction. You ready yourself to fight it, but it suddenly stops, sniffing the air and turning around. A few sniffs later, it takes off, chasing after some unknown scent.

With your enemies gone, you turn to Lantana, who is slowly picking herself off the ground, looking white in the face. Unsurprisingly, near suffocation seems to have freaked her out a bit. Come to think of it, the same nearly happened to you, and your heart races as you realize how close to death you truly came.

"Are you alright?" you ask your friend, who turns her head to look at you.

She blinks a few times, then gives a slow, shaky nod.

"I think so..." she tells you. "You saved my life."

"Well, duh," you tell her. "You're my friend."

Lantana gives you a warm smile. "Well, thank you, friend."

Smiling in return, you turn your attention to Mauya and Doyu, both of whom look rather shaken. Doyu took a dagger, just as you did, so he's not in the best shape, but it looks as if he'll make it. Mauya and Sansha are both battered, but you know they will be fine.

Mauya looks somewhat frightened, and you can tell that she hasn't entirely overcome her fear of combat. Her breathing is quick, and her eyes shine with gradually fading terror. Still, she fought everything she had. She pushed her fears aside and risked her life to protect her friends, and you can't help but feel a little proud of her.

"I'm surprised you were able to save her," Mauya tells you, her tone not meant to be insulting, moreso just genuinely surprised. "That girl had a dagger ready. Why didn't she use it?"

"Because she was trying to kill Lantana in the Avatar State," Doyu answers.

"But why bother?" Sansha asks him. "If he killed Lantana, she'd be out of her way. By the time the next Avatar grew up, Kalana could have conquered the Earth Kingdom."

"Because it would still be a problem she'd have to deal with again," Doyu points out. "Besides, she wants the Avatar gone forever."

"I won't let that happen," you vow.

Sansha nods in agreement. "Right, we'll all protect Lantana."

The Avatar looks down, looking somewhat embarrassed and perhaps even a bit guilty about all this.

"Doyu, how do you know about all of that?" you ask the Airbender.

"Oh, lots of Air Nomads know all about the Avatar," he tells you. "The bridge between worlds is very important to us."

That seems an acceptable explanation.

"Well, we know what Kalana's hoping to do with the army, and what she's planning on doing with Lantana," Sansha says. "And, the hunter's been dealt with, so I call this a victory."

"Yeah, I guess so," Mauya agrees. "Was still a really close call, though."

"Well, are you guys ready to travel?" you ask. "The quicker we move, the quicker we get to the Air Temple, where we can relax a bit."

"We can't go anywhere just yet," Sansha tells you, stepping toward Pengsong and Gava, both of whom lie still on the ground, letting out the occasional groan.

"The Shirshu paralyzed them," she explains, kneeling down and gently petting the two creatures. "It'll be a little while before they can move again."

After nearly getting killed, and with time to kill before you can get back on the road, some simple relaxation seems like a fantastic idea, and you suggest as much to the other members of your group.

"That sounds fantastic," Lantana tells you, creating a few low pillars for people to sit on if they're so inclined.

"Gives me time to fix everyone up," Mauya says with a shrug. "Just let me go and refill these canteens."

The Waterbender walks off, while Lantana takes a seat on one of the pillars. Doyu goes over to join her, and Sansha, looking just slightly uncomfortable, mutters something about keeping watch before walking away from the rest of the group.

As everyone spreads out to do their own thing, you decide to follow Sansha, joining her at the edge of what was previously your camp.

She doesn't notice you following her, which surprises you as you aren't exactly hiding it. In any case, you observe that she stands with her back turned to the rest of the group, staring off into the pass ahead of her, and occasionally taking a look up at the mountains above. She'd mentioned keeping watch, but you hardly see the point now. There would be little point for Kalana to return right now, and you haven't seen or heard anything that makes you expect any other sort of danger to rear its head at the moment.

She glances your way as you come to stand by her side, seeming somewhat surprised that you've come with her.

"Yeah, you were pretty impressive out there," she admits. "But the way you dealt with the hunter? Stone cold."

You give her a chuckle, and the two of you stare up at the mountains. The sun is rising just above them, bathing everything in a warm glow. You can spot birds flying overhead, and with the battle finally open, only their occasional calls can be heard.

It's a nice, peaceful moment. You've had too few of those lately, and you take some time to appreciate it.

"You and Lantana really were amazing out there," Sansha tells you. "Doyu too; he didn't strike me as someone who'd be much of a fighter, but he did great. Even Mauya...didn't think she had the guts. Looks like I was wrong."

"You did great," you compliment the warrior.

Sansha gives you a smile which quickly vanishes from her face and becomes replaced with a frown as she lets out a sigh and looks straight ahead.

"I did the best I could," she says. "But I wasn't very useful out there. I mean, you and Lantana can make the Earth move; you can create giant pillars, deep pits, hurl boulders bigger than ten of me, and make armor out of rock. Doyu can jump into the sky and create winds that throw everybody around. Mauya can freeze and heal people. All I can do is swing a sword. And so far, that hasn't been very helpful."

Include points about how IF nonbenders should be allowed to live, which is a big if, they should do so only to serve benders. Tell her that nonbenders are a blight on the world, and that no man will ever find her appealing because, as a nonbender, she would pollute the bloodline. Tell her that her blood is filthier than the dirt beneath our feet, and that she would be lucky to be fodder for a bender's mount.

A Waterbender can freeze or drown me, an Airbender can blow me away before I even get close, or suffocate me before I can swing my sword. How do I fight that?"

"You need to fight smarter, not harder," you tell Sansha. "I can help you practice fighting benders."

She turns toward you, looking surprised. She cocks her head to the side. "Really?"

You give a nod. "Of course."

The smile returns to her face, and she nods in return. "Thank you, Sei."

You step forward, giving her a hug. Sansha goes stiff, not hugging you back. This prompts you to release her and take a step back. She doesn't look angry, just surprised, and as if she doesn't really know how to respond. Has she never had a hug before?

"W-well, I guess right now isn't the best time to practice," she says, stuttering just a bit. "You might want to see Mauya. She can probably fix up your wounds."

Your shoulder is starting to hurt pretty badly. Seeing Mauya would probably be a good idea. You leave Sansha to keep watch, and head over to Mauya, who is moving away from Doyu and Lantana, who seem to be laughing at some sort of shared joke.

Mauya sees you approaching and meets you halfway.

"How are you feeling?" she asks, bending water from one of the canteens and using it to coat her hands.

She places her hands on your shoulder, and you feel the wound begin to mend.

"I'm just glad everyone's alright," you answer as Mauya finishes healing your wound.

She stumbles back a bit, seeming to have a bit of trouble keeping balanced. You notice sweat dripping down her face, and that her breathing seems heavy.

"Are you alright?" you ask her.

It's a few more seconds of heavy breathing before Mauya gives you a nod. "Yes. I'm just tired. Healing takes more out of you than you might think. And then that fighting made me pretty tired, too."

"You did good out there," you tell her, earning a small smile.

"Thanks," she tells you. "I'm glad I could do something besides stand back and watch for a change."

"I guess that sparring helped?" you ask her.

"Yeah, I guess it did," she answers before giving you a glare. "But if you ever trap me in stone like that again, I'm going to freeze you alive."

She gives you a smirk.

"Funny," you tell her.

Mauya chuckles, waving her hand and letting the ice on your shoulder melt away. She bends the liquid water back into the canteen, her eyes twinkling with some amusement.

"If you ever want to spar again, I'd be glad to do it," you tell her.

"Thanks," she says. "I'll probably take you up on that; the more practice I can get, the better."

She walks past you. "Now, I'm gonna go take a little rest."

Turning around, you spot her heading toward the animals, probably intending to take a nap on one of the fuzzy creatures.

Mauya approaches the two stunned animals, and climbs on top of Gava, curling up on the Flying Bison and closing her eyes.

As comfortable as that looks, you still decide to go ahead and talk to Lantana and Doyu. The two of them seem to be having some pleasant conversation, and the Avatar looks up with a smile when she sees you approach. For a split second, you think you can see disappointment on Doyu's face, but it's quickly replaced with a friendly smile.

"Have a seat," Lantana encourages, gesturing to a pillar beside her.

You accept, and take a seat.

"Much better," you answer. "Mauya's a good healer."

"Tell me about it," Lantana sighs. "I wish I'd had her around for that year I was on the run. That would have made things so much better."

"How are you guys feeling?" you ask.

"Pretty good, considering I got stabbed," Doyu answers with a laugh. "Like you said, Mauya's a great healer."

"And I can breathe again, so I'm feeling pretty good," Lantana tells you.

"Sorry for getting you mixed up in all of this," you tell Doyu.

"Don't worry," he tells you with sincerity. "I'm just glad I was around to help you guys."

"You were great in that fight," you tell him before looking at Lantana. "You both were."

"You had some great moves, too," Doyu compliments. "Still, that Earthbender we were fighting was crazy strong."

"Well, I think we've seen the last of him," Lantana tells him. "So, at least that mess is done with."

"But there's still Kalana," Doyu points out. "I can't believe that an Air Nomad would do the sort of things she's trying to do. It goes against everything we're taught."

Maybe so, but whatever the reason, Kalana has turned her back on the beliefs of the Air Nomads. She knows who you are, and a great deal about the Avatar. She's a serious threat and needs to be stopped.

You just hope you and the others are strong enough.

Her last words to your group echo in your mind.

"This is just the beginning, and I promise you, when this ends, I'll be the one still standing."

Sansha's a filthy ningen, she'll end with another of her rank (male or female).

Getting on with any other kind of bender girl would occur the risk of muddying our glorious granitic bloodline with other kinds of bending.

Time passes peacefully and pleasantly for you and your friends. Mauya takes a nap on top of Gava, Sansha seems perfectly content keeping watch, and you spend your time talking to Lantana and Doyu. Despite being a bit shaken, everyone seems to be in good spirits.

There still seems to be a bit of time left until you can get moving. How will you spend it.

You've checked on everyone and had some nice talks. But now, you're tired, and decide that you want to get some sleep. Mauya is passed out on top of one of the warm, fuzzy creatures, and looks quite comfortable, leading you to believe that it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to do the same.

Leaving Lantana and Doyu to converse with one another, you head over to Pengsong and Gava, both of which still seem to be in the process of recovering. Curling up next to Mauya is just asking for pain, so you decide to climb on top of Pengsong, petting the creature before making yourself comfortable and closing your eyes.

A peaceful nap comes to you, but only for so long before you find yourself hitting the ground. As you open your eyes in response to the impact, you find yourself staring up at Pengsong, who seems to have unceremoniously thrown you off of him now that he can stand again.

Meanwhile, Mauya seems to be resting comfortably on top of Gava, who appears able to move, but is not disturbing her sleep.

"Why do you hurt me like this?" you grumble at Pengsong as you pick yourself up.

The Elephant Mandrill licks your face, and you decide to take that as an apology, petting his head before looking over at Mauya. She's sleeping still, a peaceful expression on her face.

If the animals are ready to go, it's probably a good idea to just get a move on as soon as possible. So, you approach Gava, and lean over, gently shaking Mauya.

The girl mumbles something unintelligible and turns away from you, curling up and continuing to sleep.

Pengsong comes to stand at your side, giving you a questioning look.

"Can you wake Mauya?" you request of Lantana's pet.

Pengsong steps forward, putting his frightening face right over Mauya and letting out a loud screech, which instantly results in the girl shooting up and letting out a scream of her own.

The sounds spook Gava, who quickly picks himself up, throwing Mauya to the ground as he lumbers away. In the distance, you can hear Doyu laughing.

Mauya picks herself off the ground, rubbing her backside and giving Pengsong a glare that quickly shifts over to you.

"Really?" she asks. "Doesn't seem like they're ready to go."

"Pengsong woke up, so I figured it was time to get a move on," you tell her.

Mauya groans, stretching a bit. "Yeah, I guess so. The sooner we get to the Air Temple, the sooner we can get some actual rest."

She goes to start gathering her things, and you head over to the others, who seem to know what the two of you are up to, and begin preparing their own belongings.

All except Sansha, who approaches you with two swords in her hands that do not belong to her. You recognize them at once as the blades that the hunter had wielded, one of which still has a long chain attached to it.

"I remembered that these were lying around," Sansha tells you as she stops a in front of you. "Since you took him down, I think you've earned them."

Reaching out, you take only one of the blades, the one with the long chain still attached to it. Sansha gives you a puzzled look, and you answer with a smile.

"You keep that one," you tell her.

The girl's face lights up. "Really? Thank you!"

As the takes a few swings with her new weapon, you take a look at the one that you decided to keep. You recall how well the hunter was able to control it, making it move as if by magic without even touching it.

Unless the spirits gave him some sort of strange power, there's really only one other explanation for it.

Earthbending.

To confirm your suspicion, you examine the sword as closely as possible, searching for any traces of Earth within it. Sure enough, you can find chunks of rock scattered throughout the hilt of the weapon. You aren't entirely sure how it was made that way, but then again, you aren't exactly an expert on smithing.

With time, it seems that you'll be able to use this blade to pull of insane moves like your late opponent did. It will just take time, practice, and learning how to properly wield a sword.

Sansha, at least, should have little trouble with her new weapon, and looks quite pleased as she gives it a few swings. You've definitely put yourself firmly in her good graces, at least for now.

"Are you two coming?!" Mauya shouts from over by the animals.

Looking toward her voice, you can see Doyu and Lantana climbing onto their respective pets, preparing to depart.

Mauy climbs onto Pengsong, but you decide to just walk. Sansha seems to have the same idea, and you decide to walk with her so you have someone to talk to on your day's journey.

As the two of you walk between the two large animals carrying the rest of the group, you make the decision to ask Sansha if she'd be willing to teach you some sword techniques later.

"Sure," she tells you. "I'm sure you'll become quite familiar with sword techniques when we start doing that sparring you promised."

She accompanies this with a look that's surprisingly playful and amused for her. Either she just feels the need for some levity after everyone nearly died, or she's growing more comfortable around you.

Either way, you're sure that she'll be very helpful in getting you used to your new sword.

For whatever reason, as you walk through the mountains with your friends, you feel an urge to sing. Before you know it, you're going trough a tune your parents used to sing to you when you were a little kid. It's a simple and upbeat tale song about a boy and his owlcat walking through the woods.

The others stare at you a bit as you sing, as far as you can tell, greatly impressed with your voice. And, when you finish the song, Sansha of all people starts to sing, though hers is some sort of war ballad. Her singing isn't half bad, actually.

What really surprises you is when Mauya begins singing. Her voice is beautiful, and she sings a haunting melody about a girl and her polarbear dog lost in the snow, and their long journey home. You can't tell if it's meant to be sad (the polarbear dog doesn't make it) or happy (the girl is reunited with her family), but you find yourself hanging on every word that comes from her mouth.

When the little impromptu songs are finished, there's stunned silence. Nobody seems to have been expecting you or Mauya to have voices like that, and Sansha singing was quite the surprise (even if the subject matter made sense for her).

"Where'd you learn to sing like that?" you ask Mauya, unable to keep the awe out of your voice.

"My mom used to sing to me when I was little," she answers, a twinge of pink coming to her cheeks as she appears to be embarrassed. "I learned to sing from her back then, and then I taught myself some more."

Nodding, you take the attention off of her to spare her further discomfort, asking Doyu and Lantana if they know any songs.

Lantana rubs the back of her head. "Oh...I'm not a very good singer."

"The monks really only taught us hymns," Doyu tells you.

"Does the Air Temple get many visitors?" you ask Doyu.

"Sometimes," he answers, looking down at you. "The temples aren't easy to reach without a Flying Bison, but sometimes travelers and scholars find a way up to us. The monks are usually glad to answer some questions, and the people that come to visit are usually very respectful, so we don't mind."

So, perhaps there's a small chance that you'll run into some non-Air Nomads at the temple. In any case, that takes care of all of the questions you have for Doyu, and you decide to do some more singing.

"Hey, Sei, you ever heard "The Great Fall of Shin" before?" Mauya asks you.

>A. Yeah, it was a pretty popular song in your village

Hymns require good control, and airbenders have great lung capacity. Doyu's perfect for overtone singing and background support.

You tell her that you think you might have heard it once or twice.

She proceeds to sing it for you and the others. It's some ridiculous story about Avatar Shin, who lived a long time ago. The song takes a humorous spin on the tragic battle Shin fought with his father, changing the story so that Shin was dropped into a pit and somehow died from falling asleep with a concussion. Clearly, whoever came up with that version of the story was an idiot, as that's not how concussions or Earthbending work, but the song does earn a few chuckles, and as stupid as the story is, it sounds good when Mauya is singing it.

For a little while after, you, Sansha, and Mauya take turns singing various songs, which Doyu and Lantana both seem to enjoy. Eventually, however, your throats begin to go dry, and you call it quits for now.

"How much further is the temple?" you ask Doyu.

He thinks about it for a moment. "Well...if we keep going as fast as we are, it shouldn't be more than two days. We're making pretty good time."

"Good," Mauya says. "I can't wait to be able to get a full night's sleep without having to take turns keeping watch."

"That will be nice," Lantana agrees. "I hope the Air Nomads don't mind a few new visitors."

"I'm sure they'll be happy to have the Avatar visiting," Doyu tells her. "It's been a while since an Avatar visited the Northern Temple."

"We should probably set up camp soon," Sansha comments. "The sun's going down."

Night is coming, and soon, a new day. You're closer than ever to the Northern Air Temple. Soon, this leg of your journey will come to an end.

I actually do agree with a lot of liberals in terms of the environment, though. We are destroying natural resources and polluting way too fast. Some of them take it to retarded extremes, but by and large I agree that more needs to be done on that front.

Thanks bro

It would also mean you could drive your own agenda into their soft little noggins instead of liberal agendas.
You could spend your days redpilling classrooms full of people, wouldn't that be nice?

Yeah, in grade schools there are generally policies about expressing your political beliefs.

Colleges generally give you a bit more leeway in that regard. Like, this may be a liberal arts college, but we have a few teachers that are redpilled as fuck
