You are Riolu and just a little while ago you saved one of the traveling Kricketune Brothers from the Mist-erious Forest after one hit KOing what you assume is some kind of gang boss. Now you are currently at the entrance of old man Alakazam’s Guild after bringing him back.

“Thank you for saving my brother, my friends.” The first one states.

“Yes thank you so much, and thanks to this experience I have gained a new inspiration for song~!” The cricket you saved sounding like he is literally singing your praise. Some kind of strange melody forms with his words.

“Really brother? Well then we should collaborate quickly before this inspiration leaves you, farewell my friends~.” The first one seems to be trying to harmonize with the nonsense tune from the previous.

They run off excitedly making strange noises, maybe some kind of language?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCHPQ7L87WE

You look to your partner questioningly and she only stares back at you with some kind of mystified look in her eyes.
“Don’t they sound wonderful?” she begins to gush when their ‘voices’ fade in the distance.
“Uhhh… yeah, sure…” You don’t really know what she sees in them but you play along for her sake. Maybe she just hears something you don’t.

Soon enough Alice snaps out of her trance and gets back on track. “Anyway we should go check with our guild treasurer to get our reward for the quest.”
Re-entering Mt. Guild you take a short trek to the main hub of the guild. Where a few pokemon seem to be dawdling about the area. You are led to a desk with a large bipedal blue frog, who seems to be asleep.
Wait is he not breathing?
Alice doesn’t seem too worried but she isn’t really saying anything. Maybe you should see if he is still alive?

You bring you paw to the seemingly dead frog. Before you can even get within an inch of him your paw is painfully slammed down onto the table by the blue frog, pinning it there. The frog in front of you is now at full attention, glaring directly at you, some kind of neck pouch completely filled, looking as if it would spew acid at you.

"YOU TRYING TO STEAL SOMETHING KIDDO!?"

You barely even registered what happened it was so fast.

“I- I was just- uh checking if you were ok.” You squeak out, unable to take your eyes away from his.

He just continues to stare at you making no motion of letting you go, you continue this stare down for what feels like hours before you see a slight break in his glare.

Did that fucker just smirk?

“Pfft, gotcha kiddo.” He states before beginning to openly guffaw at his trick, his hold on your paw loosening as his grip on his sides loosens. Alice begins to join in as well with a quiet giggle.

You attempt to glare at him, but with your cute babby doggo face it just comes across as a pout to the frog.

As he regains his composure the guy seems to feel the slightest tinge of sympathy. “Let me share some wisdom with you kiddo, as a newbie most of the guys around here are probably gonna haze you. We don’t mean much by it, it’s just in good fun.”

"Alice's mom's punishment is probably worse than anything I get from you guys." Hopefully you add mentally, remembering a specter from earlier.
"Anyway we were wondering about the reward for the request we completed." You change the subject.
"Ahh yes. The Kricketune Brothers were pretty happy to be united. Normally the guild would take a percentage of the earnings to keep itself running since we supply housing, food, and a place to get general missions for less specialized or less known teams. Unfortunately as you can tell the guild isn't doing to well, I for one don't see it bouncing back so I'll tell you what, you can take all of the reward from the quest if you want. Gotta have something to support you when the guild is gone." Alice doesn't seem to happy about the doom saying but maintains a small level of professionalism.

"We'll make sure the guild will not only survive, but thrive." There was no anger in her words, only a sheer unwavering belief in them that only a child could have.

"Whatever you say, but just know that as a new team you need gear and supplies and that money could really help you."

Alice seems conflicted by this, either support the guild with a portion of our earnings, or keep money for better equipment. With no real direction in this choice she turns to you.

"You think we should keep the money Luka?"

"I think we should help the guild however possible, how can Alice be the guild master if there is no guild?"
"Heh, whatever you say kiddo. Well this portion is yours." He hands you a small sack of coins.

+700 gold coins

"Not what I'd pick honestly, but its good to see young kids like you so dedicated to the guild. Shame there weren't more of you after the guild master..." He mumbles the second part, but you pick up a portion of it.

"I'll make sure the rest gets to the guild vault safe and sound. Speaking of gold, has Alice taken you around town yet? Some nice shops for adventures like you, even though some are closed down now and others are a little..." He looks for a gentle word "Strained."

Alice looks completely shocked that she forgot to show you around the town. "Oh yeah I need to take you and show you around the town! There's all sorts of cool stuff."

The Toxicroak just smiles, "It'll be just like a date."

Alice freezes completely, you can feel the heat of what you think is rage build from where you are standing. Must be a fire type thing. Somehow you can feel the red on her face through the fur as she sputters nonsense. Maybe you should calm her down somehow?

You decide to try and diffuse the situation, instinctively going for the head pats. As soon as your paw touches Alice’s head she jumps another 10 degrees, and Toxicroak’s smirk grows into a full shit eating grin.

PLAN FAILED ABORT, RETREAT!

You grab onto Alice’s paw and start rushing her out of the guild before she finds a way to burn the whole mountain down. You feel her temperature jump to the point you think she might burn you if it goes any higher, before quickly leading her away from the guild and hopefully anything flammable.

You follow the path towards town with Alice in tow, luckily she seemed to cool down, but was gripping your hand far too firmly for you to let go, and she still felt much warmer than usual.
You finally reach town to notice, strained was a bit to kind of a word, many of the buildings look abandoned and their only looked like there were three shops open.

Alice is a bit dazed, but snaps to attention and retrieves her paw from yours before she explains each shop.

"The closest is the Kek and Leon's shop, they buy and sell any items or gear for explorers. They also change their inventory each day so its always a good idea to check in before or after a request."
"The largest is the library run by a Xatu, he never tells anyone his name and he is pretty weird, but he can lend us skill books to use for free."
"The farthest is Mama Khan's storage facility. Apparently its a major business worldwide, they'll hold and transfer any items of rescue and exploration teams between each location as well as some strange statues in dungeons. Many people think they can do it because of the dungeons time space stuff."

2x Oran Berries
3x Apples

You decide that some more skills could be helpful to your cause, and make your way to the Library. As you enter you are immediately set upon by a large bird.

“Ahhh so the protagonist finally arrives as I knew he would!”

Wut.

“Oh joy! I knew they would come with a new avatar for a brand new game.” He peers deeply into your eyes “Hello in there, yes you, I’ve been waiting for you to come to my library to enhance your experience of this little game.”

He waits for some kind of response from… someone. You don’t feel as if he is talking to you, but someone else.

You are taken out of your musings by a peck to your skull. “HELLO? CAN YOU HEAR ME?”

Maybe this was a mistake.

“No, of course it wasn’t my little friend, you just happen to be a special little snowflake to have them take an interest you. Consider yourself lucky.”

“Who?”

“Ah yes, sorry about that I tend to forget that most folk don't have a knowledge of our… observers.”

“Observers?” Alice decides to cut in.

“Do not worry yourself with that now child, for now let us get on what you are here for. You want skill books correct?”

The both of you nod.

“Perfect I happen to have a few that I can get you right now, but I will have to get some kind of monetary compensation.”

“I thought this was a library, why are you charging us?” Alice seems to be getting somewhat agitated with his odd practice.

“It IS a library child, but I can’t just GIVE you skill books. You know balancing and all.”

“Balancing?”

“Enough questions! Now would you like to purchase some skill books?”

You and Alice look at each other before shrugging and taking a look through some of the books, one book called The Last Stand jumps out at you, while Alice finds a book called The Magician and another called Basic Medical Analysis.

You make your way towards Kek&Leon's shop. Which is more of a stall than anything shelves with few boxes, crates, and bottle line the wall behind them. The shop seems to have fallen on some hard times as of now.

"Welcome to our shop!" two Kekleon brothers, one purple the other green, cheerily greet you as you approach the front.

"Oh new customers?" one begins. "The new team of the guild perhaps?"

"Yeah we were hoping to look around to see if there was anything we could get to prepare for our quests."

"Well we hit a bit of a rough patch, some goons have been hitting our supply route for a while, and no exploration team seems to be able to catch them."
"So for now we are willing to buy some items at higher prices than usual to keep our supply up."

Your final tally for the day is

Gold: 119
4x Oran Berries (Heals)
2x Apples (Fills Belly)
1x Stun Seed
1x Hero's Last Stand (Skill Book, Fighting types only)

As you finish up shopping for the day you notice the sun begins to set, so you and Alice return to the guild to get some shut eye before your next adventure.

Well congratulations we made it to the end of a session without me having to stay up to midnight. Next time should be a dungeon, where you guys will pick a request and go to some dungeons.

You awoke in… Your room? You guess it’s yours now, the bare room has served as your resting area for the last few nights, and it’s where you Alice led you when your day ended yesterday. Then again for how similar most of the empty rooms looked you could have been sleeping in any number of them and not just the same one.

Playing over the events of yesterday in your head you try and remember your way back to the common area of the guild, but with the lack of any distinct features in the paths it just makes all the turns and twists outside of the living area you were staying blend together. You could stay and wait for Alice for today’s requests, or you could try and find your way to the common area again. Maybe read that skill book you got…

You were looking at him before... a loud noise and then-

"LUKA!" a voice brought you crashing back to reality.

"Wha?"

"Luka you're okay!" It was Alice. She was right on top of you, when were you laying down?

"You were just sitting there not responding and then you started bleeding from your nose! I tried shaking you but you wouldn't snap out of it."

"Yeah..." Call it a hunch but you don't think that human will tell you anything. Although maybe you could find some other people you know if you figure out where he died...

You quickly decide to change the subject "Let's focus on the guild for now, we might find more info in our travels."

"Are you sure? Aren't you worried about anyone you knew?"

"I think they'll be fine, besides if we can get the guild's resources up to snuff again we can probably find them."

"Whatever you say Luka... Oh yeah we need to decide on a team name!"

"How about team /pol/?"

"Team Pole? A bit weird but if you think it's the right name for us okay. I'll ask mom to put in the paper work later."

With that Alice finally leads you to the commons of the guild and shows you to a pair of boards.

"Normally guild members take missions that aren't directly requested of them from these boards. The left one is rescue, exploration, and other types of quests and the right is for criminal capture." She then takes three papers of the left board.

"I saw these earlier that look like they could be good. First one is a relatively simple rescue mission to the 3rd floor of the Mist-erious Forest, another rescue at the depths of the Infested Forest, and a exploration of a strange structure that popped up out of nowhere that may or may not be a dungeon."

"What about the crime board."

"To little we can actually take, most of them are to tough for us to handle and before you rush off anyway, even if they don't kill us my mom will." She lets that promise sink in for a moment. Long enough for you to shiver at the last 'punishment' you received. Yeah exploring sounds fine.

At the end of the trip you both stare at the structure, mansion you correct yourself, in front of you. It definitely felt... unnatural to say the least.

"I-Is this really the uh r-right place?" Alice seems to feel the same way.

"You're the one with the request, so I wouldn't know."

"Whelp I-i guess we should head i-i-inside..." She really sounds like she doesn't want to go in there.

You give her head a quick pat for comfort before grabbing her paw and leading her towards the house...

>Session 2 start

The two of you trek your way up to the large mansion, the ominous silence around you allows you to fully hear the creaking of the house settling. The door makes a loud creak that echoes throughout the hallowed halls of the structure. Taking a few tentative steps you enter the mouth of the house into what seems to be some kind of foyer. Thankfully it is still daylight and you can see fairly well, you make out several suits of armor standing at attention and the walls lined with empty paintings as well as the occasional sword, shield, or other wall piece.

As you finally settle into some semblance of confidence the door behind you slams shut. Causing both you and Alice to both jump, one of you letting out a high pitched 'eek'. Definitely Alice, not you, not at all.

Turning to your partner you try and calm her nerves “It was probably just… the wind!” you don’t believe that, and you doubt she does either, but your supposed confidence is enough to give her slight relief.

Well you were here but where should you look, there is a pair of staircases leading the second floor which appears to have doors going to the north, west, and east. The floor you are on has a door north to you between the pair of staircases as well as the exit to your south.

You decide to check around the room, while initially nothing really pops out at you, you notice something wrong with one of the west walls. It looks slightly off color compared to the rest of the wall paper around it. You approach it before and on close inspection it you notice that there is actually no wall behind this wall paper. Kek demands it

As soon as you open the door you are sucked into the room. Flying through the air you land gracefully on your ass as the door behind you slams closed. After a short moment you hear the door knob jiggling from the other side before you hear a banging and the sound of Alice yelling your name.
Yelling through the door “I’m good Alice, just… wait there. I’ll find a way out real quick.”
You can’t really hear what she says back through the doors muffle so you assume it is a confirmation. You turn to back to the room and notice it is… A literal gold room. The walls are gold, the floors are gold, rare gems line a golden chandelier from the ceiling filling the room with an odd glow. The entire room seems to just sparkle. There also appear to be five chests scatter across the room into rows. Two in the front row and three in the back.

Inspecting the room there is not really any exit other than a single small hole far to small for you to fit in, maybe a mouse, but not you, and the door you came from, it doesn't look too tough, you might be able to break it down...

The sign said 'Take one'... maybe you should open a chest...

>Open a chest (First choice only, roll 1d5)

Rolled 4 (1d5)

>>705754
>>

Opening one of the chests you find a pair of goggles? They seem relatively normal... although you could say the same thing about any other items you've used. Maybe you should put them on?

Placing on the goggles you don't notice any immediate effects. Maybe they don't do much at all, but who cares about that right now. LOOT! You discard the former instructions and decide to open another chest. It said take one, you'll just take one room full of loot.

Opening the second chest you pull out... another seed? It has no features you are familiar with so it might be rare.

+??? Seed

The lights seem to dim somewhat, but other than that nothing really seems to change.

The room is noticeably darker now, but you find yourself still able to see fairly well. Maybe the goggles?

Just gonna assume this is open the chest option

As you open the second to last chest you think you here some familiar whispering, the lights are dark enough where it is beginning to get a bit difficult to see, but the goggles make sure your visibility not completely garbage. You find a golden seed?

Opening the final chest you find a... thorn? A golden thorn? Roughly about the size of your paw, this could be worth something if it is actually solid gold. It definitely has the weight for it.

+1 Golden Thorn

As you pocket the thorn you notice the room has stopped getting darker, but you also find that you can see your breath. Has the room been getting colder as well? It doesn't feel any colder it feels how it has always... you're weather scarf! It makes it so you don't feel the effects of temperature or weather! No wonder you haven't noticed.

You begin to head towards the door to see if you can finally open it... A quick jiggle later and you know its still locked.

"You still okay in there Luka?"

"Yeah I'm all right, found some cool stuff in here, but it got real dark so its a bit hard to see. This door looks like the only way out so we may have to break it down."

"Should I use ember to try and burn it."

"Let's try it later, don't want to burn the whole place down. There could be more stuff of use around here."

"Gotcha, well I'll clear the way for you to try and break down the door, tell me if anything happens and I'll burn it."

She looks the berry over, as if checking if it was poisoned, before quickly consuming it.

"I didn't mean that when I said take responsibility..." she says sounding... disappointed?

"What?"

"I thought your kind were supposed to be heroic and like knights. You shouldn't do something like that to a lady."

"What?"

"But you are just a greedy, violent brute."

"Hey! I resent that!"

"Not sure..." you at least have the decency to look ashamed "She snuck up on and I went a little overboard in response. What is your name anyway?"

The ghost rises from her sitting position, before doing a little curtsy and announcing herself "I am Lady Faye. Lady of the house and your friends new guide."

"My/His new guide?" You and Alice look at her in confusion.

"This young man has lost his way from the path of heroism, and I have taken it upon myself to make sure he is not led astray any longer." She says matter-of-factly.

"Lost his way?" Alice asks.

"Not only did he ignore the sign outside, he brutally attacked me when I was about to show him justice."

Alice doesn't seem to buy it for a second, but after a moment of realization she gets an idea.

"Yes he's been like that for as long as I've known him, it'll be good for him if you join our exploration team to teach him a proper way to act."

Wut?

"An exploration team? That doesn't sound like a lady like thing to be a part of young lady. I shan't even consider it." She turns up her... nose?

Thank whatever god there may-

"It also wouldn't be very lady like to leave this poor soul to wonder a path of evil when you have the power to aid him." Alice counters.

Despite your... lack of a desire to be 'trained'. You feel as though in the long run this will be better for guild and even Alice. She even might be able to teach you something useful.

While your contemplating this Alice seems to have gotten through to Faye.

"Very well, I will teach this poor young man the error of his way by joining your prestigious guild."

Shit Alice works fast. Better remember not to leave her to her own devices to long, or something bad could happen... You just possibly learned Nasty Plot.

"Hey you should also help Alice become more ladylike."

"What!?" "Oh?"

"Yeah she says she wants to be a guild master that commands respect and authority, she would definitely need some aid in getting that whole regal grace thing you got going on."

Alice just fumes at you. You prepare to dodge a Psybeam, but any conflict is promptly interrupted by Faye's cheerful response.

"Oh how wonderful! I've barely even started and you are already become so considerate like a true gentlemen. Who knew my very presence could be a good influence." She turns to Alice. "Do not worry Lady Alice, I will make you the most graceful and respected guild leader to ever walk the planet!"

That should keep her from taking over the world for... maybe a few weeks. Deciding it best to refocus the teams efforts off you, you remind them of why you are here.

"We still need to finish our exploration mission guys."

"We are ladies Sir Luka, please address us as such, and I would be more than glad to give you two a tour of the house."

You decide it would be best to finish the mission so you accept her offer. Although she warns you to not take anything that does belong to you or you would face a punishment. You've experienced what a ghost type can do when they get the drop on you and you honestly don't want to be on guard 24/7 to stop what happened last time. Do ghost types even sleep?

As Faye shows you and Alice around the house she mentions three dungeons that inside, one in the library that apparently has been around for as long as Faye has. One in the kitchen that has also been there for a little while, and one last one on the roof which recently popped up. She mentions there might be others that have popped up without her knowing and even some that are got buried in some debris of the northwest wing of the 2nd floor collapsing.

Something occurs to you as you are escorted around.

"What is this place anyway? How long has it been here?"

Faye turns to you excited to share the history of the home. "Well a few months ago the ancient ruins of the old human structure rose again. The spirits here brought it back in a single night and appointed me the Lady of the house!"

"Spirits? You mean ghost Pokemon?" Alice inquires.

"No, spirits, they roam around and seem to remove anyone who comes in to deep, but as of now you are my guests so they will not bother you."

"Are these spirits of humans?" You are far more intrigued now.

"Yes, but they tell be they have lost their memories of their lives long ago... It is quiet sad." Faye looks down as if showing respect for the dead.

So this place was made by humans... Maybe the library had something on them, you should check it out later. Or maybe you could try with Faye to talk to the dead, which might end good or bad when it comes to ghosts.

The tour is finished at dusk and you are brought to back to the entrance. Faye seems to say farewell to a group of people you can't see. Alice seems to shiver uncontrollably as she does. Loosening your weather scarf you immediately feel a large unnatural chill run down your spine. Quickly tightening you're scarf once again you and your two teammates head back to the guild to report your findings.
