The old man and child walk together along the waterfront outside the Temple. The lapping waves are only occasionally accompanied by the sounds of conversation between the teacher and student. The child- no longer a child- has grown taller, stronger, and wears a new look of purpose. The old man carries a few more wrinkles in his jovial face and his once silver hair is now streaked throughout with white. The old man stops abruptly and looks to the sea, his face inscrutable. At once, the man relaxes and sits on the ground, calling over the younger boy to join him.

"Have you ever looked upon the sea, Amon? Not simply see it, but truly look at it? Watch it?"

The younger monk shakes his head, lost. The old sage laughs in turn at the perplexed look on the young boy's face.

"How amusing, this. Monks who've spent their entire lives alongside the sea have never thought to stop and look at their own neighbor. It would seem even monks aren't immune to their own ego. Come, sit," He waves the boy over. The boy obliges, curious yet again to hear what his teacher- his friend- has to say.

"Look upon the waves, Amon. Look how they ebb and flow with themselves. See how the ocean seems to swirl, how it moves itself."
"Point to a droplet in the ocean, Amon."

"I-I don't think that is possible, Myatsuu."

"So you cannot point out the single drop of water that moves the sea?"

"I believe nobody could"

"Then why do men put such faith in the idea of power? Why do they believe one man can move the world alone? Why do they seek to control the tide of life itself?
Just as a drop of water in the ocean moves and -in turn- is carried by that same water that surrounds it, so to is a single man connected to the fate of all of mankind.

All life is conjoined. We perceive only a small portion, but through time itself- the past, the present, the future- the actions of great and lesser men have rippled eternally.

Everything flows. All is connected."

"Yeah...I think I see what you mean."
The young Amon concedes quietly, thumbing the red beads through his fingers.
R-E-L-E-A-S-E....

"When you look upon the ocean, you are not only looking at reality.
You are seeing the truth. This is the heart of the Ninshu."

....M-E

The older monk turns back to look at the young Amon, his eyes deep voids of churning RED .

WAS IT NOT YOU WHO LEFT ME TO DIE? WAS THIS HOW YOU JUSTIFY YOUR SIN? LET THE SEEDS OF WHAT YOU HAVE DONE GERMINATE IN YOUR SOUL.
EMBRACE THE POWER YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN. MOVE THE ROTTING TIDES THEMSELVES.

>Your name is Amon Shuu, a humble monk of the Water Temple.
>You have no family to speak of, another one of the many casualties of the 2nd Shinobi World War. Your luck pulled through when a wandering monk, Myatsuu, snatched you from the debris of a border skirmish between Konohagakure and Kirigakure with your village having been reduced to rubble in the midst of battle. You were 4 years old. The monk, Myatsuu, brought you back to the Water Temple in the marshy coastlines of the Land of Water.

>Nearly 14 years later, the Temple- your home- had fallen to attackers from the Village Hidden in the Mist after a young girl, Rin. Leaving to honor your duties, you travel across lands to deliver the merchant, Yoru, safely to his destination and find any surviving monks of your order. This is where your story begins.

You awake with a yell, sweating feverishly. After a deep breaths, you come back to your senses. Rising from the sleeping bag Yoru'd given you, you check your companions. Rin is sleeping deeply by the now extinguished fireplace and you can hear Yoru's snores from somewhere upstairs. The telltale pittering static you hear from outside tells you it's slightly raining. Looking out the window you see it's still pretty dark, probably early morning.

You relax, but remember the nightmare.
The Beads.
You look hesitantly to your pack next to you, filled with the various reading materials and essentials for your journey...as well as..
They're poking out of the lip of your backback, twinkling slightly. A shudder involuntarily makes its way through your shoulders.

Rin and Yoru are still asleep, but you may want to do some things before waking them up and heading out. Your body has started to ache for the daily training you'd become so familiar with at the Water Temple.

It's still early, you...

Getting out of bed, you drape yourself in the familiar white gi of the Temple Monks. After all, what would Tai say if you'd stopped training? Probably something along the lines of "discipline, training the mind and body as one, purging the evils of the human body one exercise of a time," or something along those lines.

A small smile grows on your face as you think about Tai, your brother monk.
You miss him.

Ignoring the rising lump in your throat, you start to the front door of the safehouse...
But stop as you think about the beads. Better take them with you, you're not sure what exactly they are yet. You do know you'd rather not leave them out and around for the others, particularly Rin, to be bothered by though.

You scoop up the beads and -placing them on your neck- note just how comfortable they feel. They're slightly warm, comfortably so, as if someone had just taken them off not a minute ago.

You jog out the door- closing it behind you- and into the dirt streets of the refugee city. There are a few people ambling about in the early morning light, most all with umbrellas. Your feet keep an even, steady place to match the rain as you look around for area fit to train in. You jog down the dirt roads and by puddles, down the small incline of a hill. You note the sharp light coming off a tin-roofed structure on the corner of the block. As you pass by you see a wooden sign swinging with the bulbous words "Hōki Trade Tavern- Best Deals South of Kikyō Pass!" burned into it. You make a mental note to tell Yoru about it when you get back.

The jog turns into a sprint as you round the corner, spotting a makeshift playground of tin and rust, barely held together. Normally you'd at least be panting by now, but you feel strangely energized as you continue the pace. Upping the speed yet again, building fly past you and the wet dirt ground splatters away as you start sprinting full out. The wind rushes by your face and seems to carry the worries that had been weighing you down over the past few days away with it.

You spot a large foundation of solid concrete and moss as you continue. It may have once been a building. Finally, you duck into a nearby alley....
a dead end leaves you nearly falling over trying to stop.

A green-wooded ladder leading to the roof of a nearby building and some trash is all you can see here.

Man what is it with 4chan quests and not being careful with mysterious and dangerous shit. First it was the Mask and Crown in Banished, then the egg in shinobi quest, and now these beads. Literally nobody ever wants to just say no.
>>
>>678883
>on the roof of the building
>>
>>678916
Our curiosity will get someone killed someday. $20 says anons will start screaming about railroading when it does.
>>
>>678916
Because moral faginess demands that the one with the most plot armor takes responsibility for the greatest threats. And naturally that usually ends up being the MC, duh.
>>
>>678883
>on the roof of the building
>>678937
of course, anon, for there is no other way.
>>
>>678937
I can see it now. It happened yesterday in Shinobi Quest. Not about the egg, but there was still a railroad shitstorm even though their choices obviously led to the outcome.

>>678944
Man moral fagness didn't come into play in any of the situations I pointed out.
>>
>>678961
True. But it'll defiantly come into effect here.

If anything those other ones were mostly about anons wanting to see some happenings. Which if you don't have at least once in a while can make the story and challenge of the quest quite stale.
>>
>>678978
Eh, all the quests would've been fine without the anons making the stupid decisions. There were other things to do in Banished, the egg hasn't really done anything important other than saving Tsuki from shitty ass rolls last thread and I doubt a rare random encounter is gonna be critical to the plot now.
>>
>>679000
I've mostly been avoiding shinobi quest because something about it bothered me when I first started reading it, please tell me that this egg you speak of isn't just a rip of the egg from beserk
>>
>>679028
its basically an energy receptacle filled with some of kaguya's chakra iirc. mostly it gives the mc an intermitant connection to kaguya. it also saved our ass last thread but now we might owe kaguya.
>>
>>679028
No, I don't think so. I'm not the most well versed in Berserk knowledge though. Tell me if this sounds like it is though.

It's connected to Kaguya, the shoehorned big bad of the last 5 chapter of Naruto. It's a conduit through which she can sort of interact with the world. There's no face on it and the egg itself doesn't talk. Tsuki can also talk to talking rabbits that hate humans through it as well. Tsuki can only see and talk to the rabbits and Kaguya while she's asleep or unconscious.
>>
>>679056
in terms of design its similar minus the face (it's also white not red) mechanically speaking it's introduced the mc to a potential late game faction and mid game summon contract (bunnies).

as far as we know so far it shouldn't turn the mc into a ravening demonlord thing with a penchant for rape and betrayal.

You jump onto the ladder, your voracious energy leading you to bound to the top of the twenty foot building within several seconds. The building, while not particularly tall, is certainly larger than most of the shacks comprising the city. Thanks to both that and the flat terrain of the Land of Fire, you have a view that stretches for miles. How far have you traveled already, you wonder? You can see the road you took into the city from here, as well as a speck that is the ramen stand you'd stopped at.

You go through the basic stretches and breathing exercises, your blood already pumping hard from the run. You do some light shadow boxing and body weight exercises as well.
The Beads on your neck seem to throb in turn with your own pulse. With every beat, you feel your muscles twitch with anticipation.

You decide to train...

>Your Stamina. You begin a grueling cycle of bodyweight and plyometric exercises in sequence and without rest, ending with a long bout of shadowboxing.
>Your Speed. You begin short sprints from one end of the building to the other, shift to footwork and explosive exercises, and end with a series of chained martial arts forms
>Your Strength. Using some stone rubble nearby, you train your muscles. Half of the routine is dedicated to weighted training, the other to training your proficiency with a staff using a rusted, heavy, metal bar nearby
>Your Chakra Control. You climb up and down the walls of the building repeatedly, taking different paths. You end by taking a similar route back home, but by jumping from building to building.
>>

We gotta get good at using chakra if we want to get better at using seals.

There's also other eldritch deity-things for anons to bicker over.

I personally write according to a gray morality. What's good or bad will be for you, the participants, to decide. I'll write accordingly.

"Good" actions have consequences, as do "bad" actions. They're both actions that will shape Amon's character progressively throughout the quest.

Without so much as another pause, you take to your routine with a burning energy. You fly through the bodyweights, you hold yourself up in handstands with perfect balance, you even hang off the edge of the building for as long as your grip holds- stopping after nearly 20 minutes. Next come the plyometrics. You grab several large, flat stones of varying sizes front the nearby rubble and arrange them in a circle. You alternate practice jumping from the ground to each of them, the largest being taller than your midsection, and from one piece to the other.

Normally, you'd be fairly winded by now.
You aren't even tired yet.

You spend the next hour, shadowboxing with your imagined opponent. You throw yourself from rocks in powerful, jumping kicks and rain flurries of punches in midair, your aggression leading your strikes to be even heated and intricate. With a fierce cry, you somersault and let your dropping heel strike one of the bigger stone blocks.
It visibly and deeply cracks from the strike, whereas your leg only feels slightly numb from the rough impact. You stop and take a deep breath as the sun begins to fully rise in the east.

You've never performed some of those moves in your life, let alone see them.
The red beads pulse excitedly on your chest.

For a minute, you feel as though this routine is exceedingly familiar to you. You can do even more. This was nothing.

The feeling of power is almost intoxicating.

Casually sitting on the slightly lower rooftop, intricate bow resting on the ground in front of her...

Beautiful cerulean hair in a long, threaded braid.

"I lost myself a bit in the thrill of the moment is all. Training is always quite satisfying to the mind and body."

"Some would call breaking a rock nearly in half a bit more than a 'satisfying thrill'," She raises her eyebrows in slight amusement.
"Have you given any thought to more monkly activites, maybe knitting? Writing?" she gives a smug grin.

"I've actually taken an interest in arrows recently. Blue ones. Let's talk about your activities. What happened yesterday with the trader?"

Asa gives you a hard look back.
"You aren't bred for war, monk. Your type isn't built for it, let alone able to understand it."

"No, women going around shooting people in the back with arrows must be much more preferable. Speaking of which, you don't seem to be the type of person to watch a simple monk train. What are you doing here this early morning?"

"...Scouting," Asa says carefully. She eyes you up and down for a bit, curiously.

"Following me, you mean."

She shakes her head, "Not you, specifically. You just don't see many monks these days...let alone sprinting through a city like lightning." She looks back at you, curiosity in her face.
"Why aren't you in one of your temples?"

You stop for a moment, thinking back to the Water Temple, the only home you've known.
Myatsuu.
Tai.
Everything you've known...

You look back up to the yellow-eyed archer.
"It's gone. There is nobody left at the Water Temple."

For a few minutes she just looks at you. You see emotions pass through her face: shock, then pity, then sadness, then..

"I'm sorry," she says softly, "losing your home, your life like that...maybe I...I misjudged you," she looks away, face a little red from humiliation.
"I didn't mean to bring up something like that. It must still hurt you."

"I'm fine," you lie.

Asa just stares at you for a bit, before she breaks the growing silence.
"Shinobi from the Hidden Leaf have been hiring traders and caravans as transports for military supplies to their troops across the borders of the nations. They're using civilians as part of the war machine. Kumogakure has decided to put an end to this, sending a clear message to Konoha and any over-ambitious entrepreneurs."

"Killing innocent civilians, then?"

"Hardly innocent," she scoffs, rising up and grabbing her bow.
"...I don't think I need to worry about you, but I'd watch out for your companions."
Your companions?

Asa starts to walk away, before turning around expectantly.
'What is your name?"

"Amon"

"Amon...I like that name," she smiles to you before hopping off the building to the streets below.

Heading back to the safehouse seems to take more than twice as long as before. You remember the knock Yoru gave:

One knock.
Two knocks.
Thre-

A disheveled looking Rin grumpily swings open the door.

"Taking your sweet time, hunh?"

"I-"

"You think you can just up and leave in the middle of the night when we're sleeping? Did you know how worried we were!"

"For the record, I was pretty fine about it," Yoru's telltale voice calls out from inside.

This only makes Rin huff in response and look back to you annoyed, "Well I was worried! Shouldn't that be all that matters?"
She pulls you inside and shuts the door, but as she starts to chide you again her eyes meet the red beads on your chest and she stops cold.
"Amon, why are you wearing those," she tries to ask casually, but even Yoru could have been able to hear the anxiety in her voice.

"I wanted to see if they were dangerous or not, I'd been thinking about them lately is all."

Rin doesn't acknowledge you.

"Uh, Rin?"

She turns to you with her face red, hands on her hips. Seeing this, Yoru coughs and mumbles about forgetting something upstairs before running off and out of his armchair.

"Thinking about them, hunh? That's all you've been doing, thinking?" She jabs you in the chest with her finger.
"Well obviously you're mind is on other things than the fact it spoke to us and called me a DEMON. That thing is evil!"

"Rin, I'm sorry I just-"

'No, no you're not sorry. You'll probably just go off and study it like you always do. Do you not even care about what the rest of us think about that thing? That it may not be good for anyone, let alone you? Do you not care about yourself?"
From upstairs, you hear Yoru's voice call, "For the record, I think Amon should carry whate-"
"Oh be quiet!" Rin shouts back, her voice rising, tears forming slightly at the edge of her eyes.

You take the chance and grab Rin by the shoulders, crouching slightly to look her in the face. At first she blushes under your gaze, but then turns away stubbornly- obviously mad.

"You're right, Rin." You state simply, catching her off-guard. You take the red beads off from around your neck. They feel heavier and heavier as you remove them, but once off they return to normal.
"I do care about you two. You're all I have now. This necklace, if it is evil, can't just be thrown away. If anyone else takes it, things may get even worse somewhere from my own actions.'
All life is conjoined.
the actions of great and lesser men have rippled eternally. Everything flows. All is connected.
This is the heart of the Ninshu.

"I do care. Maybe I care for others too much. All life is connected, Rin. If I were to abandon this...burden, would the next person to recieve it fare as well?"

Rin looks at you sympathetically, "You're only human, Amon. Please..."
Why do they believe one man can move the world alone?

You look her dead in the eyes, "Rin, you're right. I'm just another man, I'm still weak alone. So, please...help me. I need your support if I'm going to bear this burden, resist this as I figure it out. I can't do it alone, Rin. I need you with me," you plead softly to the girl.

Rin goes fully red in the face, her eyes dazed, "You...need me? A-Amon, I..."
She blinks a few times then nods vigorously, "Okay. I'll keep you in line, Amon. Only because it's for yo-" she coughs a bit before continuing, "-for the group, yes."

You smile and hug her.
"Thank you."
"Amon..."

She returns the hug for a minute, before she pulls away and looks back to you shyly.
"I...had a dream last night. I think you should know."

"I saw a man. An old man, scarred and battle-worn. He stood on a field of battle with his kunckles bloodied. I was with a friend of mine, Kakashi. As we looked on at the old fighter, Kakashi looked at me...his eyes were...oh my god," her eyes start to fill with tears as she recalls the dream.

This sounds oddly familiar.

"They were...empty. There was only and endless red where they should have been. He...said things. Things I couldn't understand, some things in a different language I didn't know. They may have just been noises, but then kakashi said something clear...
GIRL OF THE DEMON, YOUR HOUR HAS PASSED. YOUR LIFE IS FORFEIT.
TO THE ABYSS ARE YOU BOUND, AND FROM ITS DEPTHS SHALL THEY COME FOR YOU.
LAY YOUR SINS TO THE ALTER. SACRIFICE WHAT IS DOOMED TO THE FATE OF THE GREATER, BEFORE IT IS CLAIMED BY ANOTHER
"When I looked back, the older warrior was in front of me...reaching for my heart. His eyes were white with blindness and...and I woke up with you gone."

This is a lot to take in. You thank Rin for telling you and give her a hug before grabbing the Wen Qu, slinging it's carrying cord around yourself, and heading upstairs to find Yoru. You open the sole door upstairs, and catch him in the middle of packing. He jumps, surprised, and stuffs his bag closed abruptly.
"Ready to hit the road, Amon?" He sells with his winning smile.

"Yeah, just thought you should know...the ninja we met, Asa? I ran into her again. Apparently traders carrying military supplies and weapons for Konoha are being attacked and killed by hunters from Kumogakure."

"Ah...is that so? Well, we probably have nothing to worry about then. Maybe just stick away from any other caravans, yes? I wouldn't like their competition anyway," he laughs heartily.

A bit...too heartily.

"Yoru, is everything alright?" You ask carefully.

"Just ready to put some distance between us and any of these Kumo ninja, Amon. The quicker we leave, the quicker we get to Konoha!" he briskly heads out the door with his bag in hand.
You see a kunai sticking out of it.

"Also Yoru, I saw a shop at the bottom of the hill we may want to check out."
"Well then, no time to waste then, eh? Let's hit the road." Yoru's voice calls from the door downstairs. You can hear shuffling that'd you assume would be Rin grabbing some things from the safehouse.

This is going to be a long trip...

Hey Red, has Amon tried to use water walking on anything not-water? I think he has enough chakra control to walk on trees, at least.
>>
>>681905
Interestingly enough, he has not. It should carry over fairly well though.

He has better chakra control than the average ninja already, more than enough to learn various techniques when he comes into contact with the ninja villages.
>>
>>682129
Hell yeah. I know our focus is seals, but picking up at least some basic ninjutsus should help a lot on any journey. Like, shunsin and a few clone types would be pretty nice to make distance and distract while we draw some intricate seals we may learn later.

Also, getting some seal tattoos might be pretty hype, but was Myatsuu against it? He said human sealing was a thing best forgotten, but I'm not sure if that was what he was referring to.
>>
>>682161
Well we learned of one seal recently that we would need help to apply to our body, we could ask Yoru or Rin to help apply it. I can't remember which but I believe we learned it in thread 4.
>>
>>682161
You'll meet a lot of the recognized characters as you get closer to the hidden villages. It would naturally follow that you'll get the opportunity to learn ninjutsu and ninja techniques as well.

Myatsuu's own beliefs were undeniably strange, but he followed them to the end. He didn't put seals on his body or on anyone else, but he recognized it was within acceptable boundaries to do so. He did encourage Amon in his studies, after all.
What he would never condone was the use of human life- or any life- as a resource or tool to be used. Those specific ideologies would put him at odds with the hidden villages and are the reason why Amon does not know any ninjutsu.

He was a vegetarian and a pacifist as well.

"This is the store you were talking about? Pretty small place, good location though," Yoru muses out loud as you approach the "Hōki Trade Tavern".

Rin hasn't said much, but you'd imagine she's still stuck on the dreams she had last night.

You push open the plywood doors and walk into a surprsingly well-kept hovel of a store. Items line the walls in well-constructed shelves and a young boy- no older than 4- sits behind the counter.

He only notices your small group as Yoru is tapping impatiently on the counter.

"Ah, I'm sorry! I-I mean, welcome to the trade tavern, home of the best deals you'll find South of Kikyō Pass!"
"Let me just...uh, Master Hoki?" the silver-haired child calls out anxiously to the back room.

"I already uh, greeted them sir," the kid interrupts. The man looks wearily down at the boy and then back to your group with a smile.

"That's one less thing for me to do then, I suppose. What can I help you with today?"

"Who is Hoki?" You ask the man, curious.
"You're looking at him," he replies, bored. He idlely plays with a strand of his hair before he motions with a finger and he corrects himself, "or at least, one of the Hoki clan. We're a pretty small bunch. My name is Sanjuro."

"Your hair is so NICE," Rin blurts out, wide-eyed. "Can I ask what products you use?"

Sanjuro Hoki pauses for a minute, a little taken aback. But, as if true-to-form he laughs it off with a chuckle.
"Actually I make my own. I keep in touch with my two sisters from Sunagakure and The Land of Greens northward from there. They like to regularly send me flowers to let me know they're doing alright with everything going on. A lot of the blooms are aromeopathic, some of the desert blooms are even medicinal, and I always get too much. Some are on sale over in the corner if you're interested," Hoki point to a large basket of multicolored flowers. A wide grin creeps across Rin's face and she lets out a cheer before hustling off.

"What kind of supplies do you have?" You ask the shopkeep. Yoru stays by the counter to look at the various ninja weapons in the dirty glass display. You see Rin looking at the floral arrangements off to the side with the young boy.

'Oh, this and that. Some food, but not much. We have some rope and wire, but mostly deal in exotics."

"Exotics?" You and Yoru ask simultaneously.

The man shrugs, "To be honest, the kid and I haven't been in town long. We stopped and set up shop about a month or two ago with what we had with us. We're just looking to make some money before heading back out on the road ourselves."
Hoki stretches lazily.
"I can't say the sedentary life is for me though."

"So...you're a weapons dealer, then?" Yoru asks curiously.

"No thanks," Hoki shakes his head, "that ugly trade is a bit too tiring for my tastes. I enjoy a bit of freedom in my life."
"I mostly just collect things I find interesting or I'd want to buy, then sell it away."

What an odd man.

"Would you have any writing supplies then? Ink? Scrolls?" You ask, hopefully.

"Well, actually..."
Hoki reaches behind the desk and pulls out two small scrolls and a handful of tags.
"I...ran into someone with a little extra merchandise. Some explosive tags," he holds up the handful, "and two scrolls I can't quite understand myself."

"Well...thanks Yoru, I appreciate it."

"He was a bit too nonchalant about all the surrounding violence, in my opinion," you suggest between deep breaths of air as you help Rin and Yoru climb up several jagged boulders, "but I honestly couldn't say that he seemed like a bad person. Certainly not evil, not like..."

You mind flashes back to the swordsman at the Temple and his cold-blooded demeanor.
You shove the thought out of your mind by hurdling the next rock. You're feeling a bit tired from the exercise already. The boundless energy from earlier before is all but gone.
Interesting.
"...regardless, I think he was a decent soul. He treated the little one with a lot of care. At the very least he's certainly heartfelt."

"Where is that Land of Greens he was talking about, anyway?" Rin asks to the group, huffing as she crawls over a rock about her height, "The flowers he said were from his sister there were so pretty. They smelled amazing too.."
She sighs, probably resigned to the fact she only could walk away with a single flower.

"Actually," Yoru interjects from the back of the group, "The Land of Greens is known for having developed their own secret techniques, utilizing the many flowers that grow plentifully in the region."

"Wait, why have you been there?" You ask, still pushing ahead.

"I haven't actually, I've only been to Kumo, Konoha, and Kirigakure so far- along with their respective lands. I'm not even sure where The Land of Greens is myself yet."

You and Rin both stop, glance at each other, and look back at the straggling entrepreneur as he obliviously continues the hike. He notices your weird looks.
"H-Hey everyone needs a hobby now. You're not the only one who likes to read you know."

"You don't even know how to generate chakra, Yoru," You stare at him blankly. Rin starts to giggle a bit.

"I just like to read about jutsu, okay?" Yoru scoffs, "I swear, you both are acting like this is something odd. Have you noticed how many people use jutsu these days? I'm just....I'm just making sure I stay ahead of the game. It's just good business." He hustles ahead of the two of you, clearly a little miffed.

You look at Rin and nearly laugh yourself. She's choking back a burst of laughter and is bright red in the face, nearly doubled over.
"He..HE...I didn't know we had such a... FAN with us," she manages to whisper out between breaths to you.

You laugh openly and Yoru shoots you back a bit of a dirty look from ahead.

"Come on, let's not heckle him. If not the Land of Greens, where have you been? You're a ninja, right?" You strike up the topic as you climb closer towards the summit.
"I've been on a few missions. Nothing too far outside of the Land of Fire though. I..."
She stops, her face a little more serious.
"Kannabi Bridge. Have you heard of it, Amon?"

You think...you haven't read much about any sort of geography at the Temple...and you didn't get too many visitors either...
"No, I can't say I have."

Rin looks back to the approaching peak.
"It's probably for the best."

It's a bit awkward for a moment as you try to figure out what she means, but you decide to change the topic.
"Look Rin, I know you enjoyed the shop back in town. You have to make sure you stay on your toes in the future though, those merchants aren't the most trustwor-"

"Guys," Yoru's voice yelps out anxiously from ahead at the peak, "you may...you may want to take a look at this."

You and Rin share a look and speed ahead, reaching a petrified Yoru.

"Yoru, what's up? You look like you've seen a gh-" Rin stops short, looking in the same direction as Yoru- her eyes widening.

You look in the same direction and spot it.
A small, enclosed mountain valley of wild, long, green grass.
Kikyō Pass.

The green stalks are painted with streaks of red. Innumerable bodies are strewn about the long grass like strange, bloodstained logs. Yoru notices something at his feet and stoops to pick it up.

It's a crumpled headband, with the same design as Rin's.

"What...What happened here?" Yoru mutters.

"Rin..."
No response.

"Rin," you whisper more forcefully.
Nothing.

You turn to look at the girl and see her on her knees, shivering. Her eyes are wide in horror.
"It's just like that day...it's just like...Kannabi..." she mutters to herself, as she stares at the valley of the dead below.
You put your hands on her shoulders, 'Rin, what is it? Do you sense anything?"

She continues to stare into the distance, before she slowly turns to look at you and says a single word:
"Bloodlust."

You look at the headband in Yoru's hands. Slowly, you untie the knot in Rin's and take the Konoha band from around her head.
She doesn't react.

You put the headband in your pack quietly.
As you stuff it in the crevices, you feel the familiar, smooth spheres brush by your fingers.
With that kind of power, what would you have to fear?
What wouldn't fear you?
You could protect them all. Your friends, your family,...you could have even saved your dear teacher

Rin.
You recoil from the beads, remembering what you had promised her. You resist the lure of the beads and close your pack tight.

You...

Abilities and Techniques known:
>Sealing Technique: Vitality Sealing Formation
[A seal transcribed over an area, rather than on a person. Temporarily suppresses chakra (production and formation) for individuals within the area sealed.]
>Earthen Seal: Spirit Bind
>Heavenly Seal: Iron Armor Seal
[Acts as a type of "protection" for an individuals chakra. Painting or tattoing this seal directly onto an individual prevents exterior manipulation of the sealed individuals chakra. Acting as a type of "armor", the user can still control their chakra but the influence of any external- or internal- foreign factors are blocked. Unfortunately, easily overwhelmed or circumscribed due to the method in application of the effect]
>Earthen Seal: See-No-Evil Technique
[The seal consists of two parts.
First, the user must first ascribe the first seal correctly on a sealing tag or cloth.
Second, the user paints the accompanying seal(s) onto any number of additional tags.
By using the first seal as a blindfold, the user can connect his/her vision to that of the accompanying sealed tags.
Using this technique leaves the user immediately blind for the duration, in exchange for gaining an environmental vision from the supplementary tags.]

You can opt to go around another route, namely through the mountains themselves (wouldn't necessarily stop whatever this is from happening, may only delay it- and you) or by the eastern or western approach mentioned in an earlier thread.

You would not make it to the Fire Temple for a very, very long time if you chose the Eastern or Western route

Alright I'm still for entering alone, but set up a Vitality Sealing Formation at the opening of the pass. If someone finds us we can lead them back to it. Since we've never fought with chakra before we'll have a slight advantage against a ninja who probably isn't as used to it.

We can take the seals back if we don't use them right?

Now you're thinking with seal, anon

>>684801
you cannot tattoo yourself right now, espcially considering the only tattoo you know

>>684770
You cannot reapply the Spirit Bind or iron Armor Seals.
The seals for the Vitality Sealing Formation can be prepared prior, to an extent. It will be weaker than if applied as a painted seal and the tags forming the boundaries can be destroyed.
However, you can reapply the "See-No-Evil" Seals.

it's basically my idea, but without thinking we can outrun shinobi. Which was pretty stupid on my part. I'd say we also spread out some See No Evil Seals. Do they run out of power eventually, or do they last forever so long as we don't use them?
>>
>>684853
>Yes
>>
So what can we do with the adamantine bind technique?
>>
>>684907
I'm pretty sure we can only tattoo it, so not much right now. It lets us manifest chains made out of chakra to do stuff.
>>
>>684886
they'll last until you either destroy the main seal on your own blindfold or cease to funnel chakra into it.

[Threshold Passed: 250/500]
>[Technique Learned: Earthen Seal: Speak-No-Evil Technique]
[Paint this seal onto a person to mask any of their sounds. The seal, when applied, creates a localized bubble of sorts not unlike that of the See-no-evil technique, simply smaller. This will mute any immediate sounds of the individual, including speech and movement. An example would be hitting a tree. The individuals blow would be entirely silent, but the reaction of the tree to the force would not. It is in silence that one achieves harmony with the self.]

You close your eyes and take a deep breath.
In.
Out.
Do not fear death as I have, Amon.
Where you go, the souls of those closest to you will always follow.

You open your eyes and quietly open your bag, accepting whatever may come next.
Should death call to you, it would be the will of life itself.
There is never truly an end to life. This is the Ninshu.

You take all of your sealing tags, a pot of ink and brush, and the scroll of your beloved teacher. Like the winds themselves, your hand flies across the paper tags in familiar, fluid movements.
You've made a number of the spirit bind tags in case you find yourself in a bind, without a chance to do so with the Wen Qu.

-Another swish of ink and brush-
You've prepared a version of the Vitality Seal Formation to be used with tags. It's weaker and can be broken, but still an incredibly useful tool. You have enough for four.

-Another swipe-
You've drawn the design for the See-No-Evil technique on a strip of cloth torn from your gi. You prepare several of the supplementary tags as well.

-A dip and the sound of dripping ink-
You lift the sleeve of your robe and paint the intricate Iron-Armor Seal onto the skin of your upper arm. The familiar crusting feeling of the ink solidifying like stone into you leaves you feeling calmer.
Immediately, you notice some of the haze and fear clouding your mind is gone. There might have been additional illusions at work.

Finally, you quickly flip through Myatsuu's book. Skimming faster than ever before- and certainly faster than you'd ever approve- you manage to piece together another of your master's techniques, The Speak-No-Evil Seal. It's a rather large one, and would stretch out over your torso.
Very Well...
You take off your robe entirely, leaving you in your baggy cloth pants. You remove the cap from the end of the Wen Qu and turn it onto yourself. Carefully, you paint the marks, not daring to breath lest you make a slip. It's done.

You slip the Wen Qu back around yourself using the cord and bend over to Rin, patting her on the head.
"Everything will be okay," you say, but nothing can be heard coming from your mouth.

You turn to Yoru and hand him enough tags to form a Vitality Seal Formation, leaving you with enough prepared for three.
You take a slip of paper and write down the following, "Hide in the rocks, I will go on ahead. Lay down the tags around you and have Rin funnel chakra into them. It should be enough to leave you hidden."

And you turn to walk down the hill carrying your pack and golden staff, your footsteps leaving only prints in the dirt as you tread more silent than a mere whisper in the wind.

The grass sways around you as you soundlessly tread through it. Bodies line in awkward positions in the red-striped grass. You see that blood has collected and pooled in the nearby mountain stream, the drops of red slowly staining the water drip-by-drip.
The sun begins to set over the high peaks surrounding the mountain valley, gradually pitching the scene into an early dusk. A low mist begins to creep along the ground.

You feel the eye of death watching you.

>>

You lope through the grass without so much as a rustle, shuffling to-and-fro between the bodies in the field.
You crouch down to look at one of the bodies half bent over a nearby log. You pull on the ninja's grey flak jacket to see he's wearing a cracked, white, ceramic mask in the shape of a dog. His eye is bloodshot and glassy. As you put his body down you stick a tag onto the log in a single fluid motion.

You move onto another, leaning against a tree closer to the mountain stream- Another Konoha headband, another tag.

You do this several more times, noting various bodies to be of Konoha ninja of various ages and seeming rank. You move silently across the clearing, seeing a strange bundle of cloth near the surrounding rocky face of the small valley. As you get closer, you note the bundles are robes...the man in bald....
No.

You bound the last few feet and flip the body over.
Looking back at you with empty eyes is the corpse of a monk of the Water Temple. You'd seen him regularly, he'd trained alongside you. He'd eaten with you. You'd meditated together daily, spoke of your dreams and hoped. You stick a tag onto the rock wall, your chest tightening with ever breath.

No.
You run across the clearing to another bundle, similar to the one you just check but smaller.
A small child, an initiate monk of the Water Temple, stares up into the infinte beyond.

Another body, lying face up in the long grass.
He'd taught you how to wield a staff when you were a child.
You can't swallow, a lump rising in your throat.
You stand up and look around, the bodies of your fellow monks, your brothers, and Konoha ninja lay side by side in death. Expressions of fear or resignation are all that is left in their cold faces.

You feel hot, heavy even. Your hands tingle. Your mouth is dry and your chest feels like it may burst.
You shuffle to the middle of the clearing, amid the corpses of your family.
As you take out the sealed blindfold, wet streaks run unnoticed down your cheeks. You tie it around your head and close your eyes...

...and open them to see a large field of grass and mist. Bodies lie scattered among the vegetation. In the middle of the darkening scene sits a single monk, cross legged, an ornately-design painted on the bredth of his wide chest. A blindfold wraps tightly around his head.
You lift your head up.
You see the man off in the clearing look up as well, as if seeing something in his blindness. With a a shift of your closed eyes, you're now looking from behind him and slightly lower to the ground. The shadow of a body is leaning on the log next to you. You shift again and try to see where Rin and Yoru would have been, but there is only a wall of darkness encompassing the sphere of vision made by the tags.

You take a deep breath and watch as the barechested man in the clearing takes off his pack and lays it next to him, before grabbing a long, golden staff from his back and laying it across his legs.

And you wait.

...And from the darkness, you see them. Squirming shapes seemingly melt in and out of existence.
A hand peeks through the trees.
The edge of a wrapped blade holds steady at the opposite end of the pass, before disappearing yet again.
Then, silence. Not even a cricket chirps in the setting dusk.

Mist begins to cloak the ground in thicker waves, the air getting heavy with moisture.

~Little Fly, Little Fly, how long it has been~
Your hands grip the Wen Qu tightly, your knuckles white.

~Did you think you had escaped the spider?~

~No, not even the feast your precious monks provided could satiate this one's hunger~
You grit your teeth.

~Not even that pathetic, WORTHLESS, OLD CORPSE YOU CALLED A TEACHER COULD STAND TO SATISFY THE HUNGER OF THE SWORDSMEN OF THE MIST~
Myatsuu.

Several barks of laughter right out from around the clearing.

~Come, monk. Once again, dance yet another dance with death itself~

And from the dark, five bodies emerge. Each holds a massive blade.

At their front stands the masked swordsman with the needle blade, chest heaving in laughter.

He abruptly stops, and dashes forward in a bloodthirsty charge

The masked man lunges forward across the field of battle in bloodthirsty glee, his sword dripping with moisture from the surrounding air.
He's 15 feet away. You start to stand.
10 feet. The monk in the field grips the golden staff.
He's on top of you, sword in a savage thrust towards your face. With more anger than you've felt before in your life, you bend back and watch yourself land a vertical kick square in the jaw of the swordsman, his own momentum and the force of the blow leaving him airborn for a quick second.

You watch the monk slip his hand into the pocket of the pack next to him, a tag pinched between his fingers, and twist himself in midair with his body parallel to the ground.
One hand sticks the Spirit Bind seal onto the swordsman's dominant arm.
The other follows swiftly with the Wen Qu, batting the man away like a twig and launching him away into the air.

"That was for Myatsuu," you mouth wordlessly.
You see yourself on all fours from the 360 degree field of vision. As you right yourself in a short spin and hop, you activayte and toss the tagged boundaries for the Vitality Seal in a fairly wide pseudo-circle spaced around you .
You feel anger burning in your chest as you gnash your teeth within your mouth.

The monk, unmoved and silent in the field, beckons to the other swordsmen.
With fierce cries of their own, the other four don't waste a moment in their bloodthirsty affirmation.

>Parry and dodge, using you superior field of vision and the defensive capabilities of the Wen Qu to control the battlefield
>You are a wall unto yourself. None shall move you, none shall pass. Batter their blades away and crash upon them like a gale with your anger and the golden staff of legend.
>Vary using the Wen Qu and taijutsu in a defensive manner. Weave in between stikes and stick paralysis tags onto them or with the Wen Qu when capable.

The largest of them, a beast of a woman with hair red as blood plunges forward weaving a short number of handsigns as she does so.
"Ninja Art: Hair Needle Senbon!" She roars as her mane of hair turns to sharp points and begins to rain hundreds of needle-like missiles at you.

Like water you flow, seeing each needle fly towards you from all directions. You weave, duck, and truly dance among the rain of death as they pierce the ground all around you.

"I-Impossible! Jūzō, cut him down!" The monstrous woman screeches.

Within a flash, a heavily bandaged man wielding a sword as large as himself dashes forward with the other three swordsmen. He catapults through the grass using the force of the veritable hunk of iron he wields, swinging it in an wide arc intended to cut you off at the legs.

With a silent roar of your own, you plant the Wen Qu in the ground and block the savage blow head-on. The Golden Staff rings in protest and your arms go numb from the strike, but you hold firm to the swordsman's plain astonishment. Using the pole as a support for your body weight, you immediately swing around it's planted length and deliver a roundhouse to the man's exposed ribcage. With an audible crack, he goes rolling and ypou watch yourself land in a half-crouch amid the needles.

...And into the mighty blow of the swordsman wielding an oversized axe and hammer. With a twitch, the Wen Qu is between you and the dropping axe, which hits and slides down the length of the staff and into the ground. Not finished, the stocky man tries to bring his hammer up in an explosive blow, only for it to hit air where the monk had once been.

You watch yourself shift out of the trajectory, slap a tag onto his outstretched arm, and throw him into the field of needles.

"Good effort, but it's over," you hear a rasping voice call from nearby. The fourth attacker wields an oversized cudgel of sorts, and he swings in a diagonal arc hoping to catch you in the moment you are off balance. You tuck and roll over the strike, but a wicked grin spreads across the assailant's face as the cudgel ecpands, revealing an oversized scroll of explosive tags. You sweep his feet the second he does so, and bat him off with a horizontal sweep from the Wen Qu.

The swordsmen regain themselves quickly, bloodlust radiating wildly.

"Seems like he's a bit more capable than the others, no?" the butcher, Jūzō, calls out casually to the others.
"He's got a fighting spirit, most definitely. Respectable," the eyepatched swordsman with the explosive scroll responds steadily.
"Respect doesn't save lives," the shortest one replies curtly as he eyes his limp sword arm. He casually switches hands.

"What are you waiting for you sorry excuses for swordsmen? Bring me his blood!" Screeches the gargantuan woman with the bandaged blade.

You noticed their movements slow slightly as long as they were in the boundaries of your seal. You're growing tired, despite your overwhelming anger.

You relax your increasingly sore body and take the few deep breaths opportunity allows you, raising the progressively heavier Wen Qu to your normal, steady stance.
You cannot show weakness here. Not with what is on the line. Not with them watching on over you.
The Wen Qu visibly jitters in your hands. Several of the swordsmen notice this, their blood-curdling grins stretch even wider.

God damn it all. Why? A man cannot fight on faith alone.

NO, THEY NEED SOMETHING GREATER. EVEN THE STRONGEST FAITH MUST HAVE FOUNDATION BEHIND IT
TO HOLD ONE'S OWN IN THE OCEAN OF WICKEDNESS. TO DEFY THE ROTTING TIDES OF HUMANITY
POWER...IS WHAT I OFFER YOU.

Your eyes twitch to your backpack. You swear can almost see the red glint from the beads in the second you look....
That's all they need.

In the blink of an eye, the swordsmen have lept to take advantage of your distraction, their blades at the ready and poised to cut you down.
Only for a hail of blue-feathered arrows to stop them in their tracks, abruptly pelting several of the swordsmen from on high.
Hearing the whistle, you know you've been given your chance.

You scramble to the pack, shoving your hand into its depths.
There.

Your vision goes red from underneath the blindfold seal. The anger from before flows through you tenfold and feel the same, intoxicating power from earlier pump through your veins.
It's...
amazing.

You notice the swordsman with the eyepatch charging you with arrows sticking out of his arms. His eye is frenzied and bloodshot.
Pathetic

The monk drops the Wen Qu, and calmly approaches the charging man with his nothing but his bare hands. The swordsman's eye widens in glee at his fortune. Putting his entire weight behind the blow, he swings his explosive cudgel overhead hoping to end the brash monk in a single crushing strike.

The monk simply raises his arm and catches the strike in his open hand, the ground around his feet fractures and cracks from the force of the savage blow.
But he stands, blindfolded.
Unshaken.
Entirely unharmed.

He opens his mouth, and all hear the unspoken words that follow.
You are already dead. You simply cannot realize it yet.
As a monstrous grin spreads across the young monk's face as he looses a nearly unseen flurry of strikes into the attacker's stomach. With a crack, the eyepatched swordsman yacks a large clot of blood and flies into the rock wall, crashing so hard he is nearly embedded into its face.

You release the explosive tagged sword and catch it in your other hand. Your vision is as red as can be, the power of the world is at your fingertips.
Come.

Fucking Mist why are you so shit? The only not-crazy person from your village is Lava Tits and that weird shark kid that followed her around.

You watch the monk, red beads steaming openly on his chest, point to the giantess.
"You're next", he mouths wordlessly. Still, his voice seems to echo throughout the canyon itself.

The giantess looks fearful for a moment, before she too charges the walking monk, weaving handsigns.
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!"
The nearby mountain stream bursts to life, blood and water kneading together and elongating into a massive, striped dragon. The beast roars as it blows towards the monk.
As it collides, massive clouds of steam rise from the contact and wilt the surrounding vegetation. It continues to burst and burst upon the man, but when the mist and vapor clears....

The monk stands covered in horrible burns, still continuing forward at the same, steady pace. The wounds along his body visibly knit themselves together as he does so.
For a moment, instead of the monk, you see someone else.
An old man, scarred and battle-worn. Standing on the field of battle, his knuckles- his body- bloodied.
An ancient warrior, rippled with muscle and spite
His eyes were white with blindness, though slowly turning a deep red

Your vision flickers back to the See-No-Evil Technique, as you feel yourself throw aside the sweeping strike of the giant swordswoman, quickly dropping your heel- and her entire upper body with it- deep into the soil and rock below.

You think you hear someone calling a name. It doesn't matter.

The last three swordsmen look hesitantly at one another. You spot the needle-bladed swordsman slink into the mist.
No matter, you judge him later.
And then, there were two

>The Butcher
>The Hammer
>>
>>686469
>The Butcher

you having fun writing Beadman? 'Cause I won't lie, this is mad hype.
>>
>>686469
You know what, fuck it. I'm tired and staying up to see the end of the thread was a bad idea.
I vote to kill nobody. Fuck the beads. We're a monk, not an executioner.
>>
>>686471
ooooh I just had inspiration. I know exactly what I'm gonna write in next thread when we talk to Rin about this.
>>
>>686469
looks like it's just you and me now, Red. I'll stay around to finish the thread.

>>686479
Are my posts not showing up? I'm saying until the thread's over, I'm not just gonna quit now.

The old monk treads dolefully towards the swordsman with the Butcher's Blade. He looks on incredulously, as if this couldn't be happening.
A look of fear passes openly across his face.
You relish the moment

He spins in a wide arc, and then pitches the still-spinning blade at you like a flying guillotine.
The old warrior waits.
Waits...
The sword is nearly touching his midsection...
Like lightning, fragments of steel fly in all directions across the canyon. The warrior stands like a staute, his fist where there had once been a blade.

You hear the voice again, something feels like it's shaking you.
A-...-N!
You continue towards the swordsman, unperturbed.
H-...Mon! Stop! It's over! W-
You feel hands pulling you away from the retreating swordsman, cowering on the ground.
KILLI-...W-...BRING THEM BACK! GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF
The old warrior spins on his heel, grabbing whatever pestering his forthcoming judgement by the neck.
Amo-....no, ple-....
Tighter and tighter he constricts his unforgiving grip, you hear pops from their neck.
AMON.....S-...S-top...no..

You look at the woman you hold up by the neck, several feet off the ground.
Beautiful cerulean hair in wild strands.
Rich caramel skin, bruised and battered.
Sharp, beautiful features bulging from the crushing force.

With one last effort, Asa rips the burning necklace from the attached skin on Amon's chest.
And all fades to black.

It's fine. I've barely been able to make a consistent thought for like an hour. You can actually see me lose coherence as time goes on.

>>686483
That took a while. Warn me next time you do this Lady, I can't do this on 5 hours of sleep. I'm gone now.
>>
>>686485
I was not expecting this either, just couldn't find a stopping point.

i don't know how I'm typing right now
>>
Thanks for running Red, fell asleep before the end there but it looks like it turned out okay. We shouldn't rely on the beads to much, this was just a hopeless situation. We didn't kill Asa right? Right?
>>
>>686488
Alright, now that I'm not dead I can see that I went full retard. Sorry about that. Also, you are a fucking champ to power through this, Red.

Keep your chin up anon, nothing is hopeless! What would dear old Myatsuu say if heard you talking like that?
but actually, there were multiple ways this could have played out (including victory). Your previous choices in the thread influenced certain events as well

You did not kill Asa

>>686911
It's all good boss, we were all going a little retard by the time this thread was over
>>
>>687452
Well now I'm curious as to how bad we fucked our chances. Do tell, what decisions made the fight harder?

Also, I know exactly what I'm gonna write in when we're asked "The fuck was that shit?"
>>
>>687462
Eh...want a list? I'll format it by post from the top if you do, I guess.
Also, someone copied the quest into a storytext format. Easier to read, but lacks the coloring/spoiler tags that I take advantage of in /qst/

>>687478
eh, that sounds like too much effort on you behalf. No worries. Instead answer other questions.

What would have happened if you rolled a two on the roll for allies or naw?

Did you have an intended path of the battle?
>>
>>687495
Well uh

I didn't see you post and made that list anyway...so uh...
>>
>>687568
I'll take it then. Thanks for going through all that.

Determined who you would run into (and possibly befriend) while training. The same person would later come to help you at the final battle.

>on the roof of the building
Asa
>at the rusted playground
Child Kabuto and one of the young sannin...
>on top of the concrete platform by the road
Might Duy

>>679068
Stats training would have changed some of the DC's around, but stamina actually was a big one.

>>680009
Questioning Yoru would have lead to him revealing the totally not weapons he's carrying. He would have given you some. Additionally, you would have had interaction with the Konoha Anbu instead of walking in on them btfo

Having the full demon-and-dream talk with Rin would get her to empathize with you even more, knowing you were experiencing the same thing. She would have had a surge of bravery at the Pass, most likely reverting to her demon form in the battle

>>682801
>Fish Scroll
Probably a good idea to at least consider this one, if not for later. Better even that you didn't try to study it at the last minute later
>Intricate Symbol Scroll
Same as fish
>Flowers for Rin
Hoki would be unlocked as a teacher for certain hiden techniques. Hoki would also join you as an ally in the battle.
he'll still be around, don't worry

>>684378
>Wear the Red Beads
well you know how that ended
>Have Rin take off her headband?
Write in I wasn't expecting, but I reasoned Rin would go fully into hiding with Yoru. This resulted in her not being the one to take the beads off of you.
And some other things, lots' o flavor for later

>>684602
Enter the pass alone was 100% the best choice on this

>>684785
Part of the reason you did so well

>>684853
Myatsuu's scroll would have been the only really useful choice. Speak-No-Evil let you set up

>>685312
Different info,
>See if you can identify any signs of the telltale battle that took place here
would have given you an initial bonus in the first round, knowing what you were up against
>Check the river, where you hear the burbling stream occasionally interrupted
Would have done the same when they used jutsu against you

Also, the Iron Armor Seal prevented you from faling to genjutsu here

>>685727
>Deceive the enemy by fighting defensive as before.
The objectively best choice. Lowered DC's by 5 from your advantage in intelligence and gave you a net +10 bonus from See-No-Evil and conserving stamina
>use the superior range of the Wen Qu in offensive close combat
The objectively worst choice, as the attackers outclassed you in both taijutsu, strength, and stamina. Full DC's and +5 to see-no-evil
>Evade and parry, aiming to incapacitate the enemy progressive by setting up a massive blow
Fairly successful choice, gave you +10 for playing to your strengths. Pls no make me list

>>686004
Again, best option chosen here

Yeah...I didn't mean to be a dick, but you guys chose the objectively worst option there
You're not disarming a hidden mist swordsmen. At least, not realistically. DC ranged from 95-105 on that one, depending on the swordsman.

Speaking of swordsmen, Giantess was the hardest counter to you of them.
Followed by Kushimaru and Juzo.
The easiest for you to combat were Eyepatch, Jinpachi, and the axe-beard, JinJin. You'd already been trained in staff fighting and actually would have been able to go fairly well toe-to-toe with Jinpachi. The Wen Qu cannot be broken, so JinJin could only wack you until you tire out or make a mistake.

DC's were determined on the above.
The HP I sent earlier was essentially a measure of hits landed/total hits needed to "win" the encounter with the ninja.
>>
>>687575
Yeah, really shouldn't have tried that, but we did, and screwed the pooch. My critical thinking will definitely need improving to do well in this quest. I'll be less of a raging autist. Sadly, now we have to tell Rin that we broke our promise, and try to make up with Asa.

have faith in the QM, you'll have chances for both

Yeah, with the infodump aside I just hope ya'll realize I'm not really railroading things. I'll take write ins and incorporate them.

On another note, according to the storytext the 5 quests so far have a combined...uh...
30,854 words 180,253 characters. Jesus.

Never thought you were railroading. Thanks to my GM buddies, I'm all too aware of backround stuff that happens due to us or that may affect us. And damn, that's a lot of words. Keep up the good work, Red!
