You are Cedrick Conder, first of your name. Heir to the house of Conder. Today is the day of your premier race. You have some time before the race which you will be racing your prized hound Audry.

Ser Pate of Redmont has joined you and your friend Alexi, and supposedly house Stang will be here. Your not sure if it is the heir to be or the heir that is. That is not the most important thing on your mind.

One: your fathers cryptic words early about you taking over the house, has you a bit worried. You have actually in secret been running the house for the past year, helping run your family in secret. Does this mean he wants you to have the skull and pike? More importantly.

Two: your fathers failed business venture actually didn't fail. The Brave Company's venture to Valyria was actually successful. Wildly so. This is the only time in history you have ever heard of anyone successfully come back from Valyria, much less with treasure in tow. This windfall is amazing for your family.

"Ser Pate, you said we had some time yet correct?" You say.

"Yes. If her royal nibs of House Stang is her usual self, we have a good few hours." He says playing with Audry. Oh, so Melly is doing her Premier this year too. An interesting challenge.

"And young Arthur will be there correct." You say speaking of the young Dayne who you have somewhat of a Rivalry. Also quite the high amount of disdain.

"Of course- the Daynes may not have a hound in the race, but they will be here to watch and lose money to the Martells." Ser Pate says

"Alexi my old friend gather my things I will be right back." You say causing Alexi to quirk an eyebrow. You nod back and quickly run up the stairway to the hall where the scepter and pike are displayed. Only one who is worthy may hold the scepter of the witches skull. And if your father is right, your time has come.

You grasp the scepter with the skull facing you and it whispers "Ah, young Cedrick. You may be worthy yet. Tell me young prince, what is the riddle of steel? If you answer correctly, you are truly born to rule"

steel must be both strong and flexible. Too weak, and it cannot match true steel. Too stiff, and it shall shatter when you need it most.

You smile. You have known this answer for quite some time. "The riddle of steel is the power of steel and flesh alone is weak, but our will is what gives them their strength. Flesh grows weak, steel grows weak, but combined with will they are indomitable." You say.

"Yes young prince, that is the answer of the riddle I pose. Truly you are worthy of the house of Conder and the fire pike. Now I will tell you one secret, if you tell it- I shall never speak to you again." The skull says and you begin to feel anxious in you stomach. You always knew you were worthy of rule.

"I can keep a secret." You say back.

"My name is Alric Conder, the first of my name. I shall guide you young Prince, from this day until your last, if you so desire it." The voice says and you develop gooseflesh.

"Aye ser. I will keep your secret till the day I die." You say.

"Good. Grab the pike, and go to your father. I have one last word of advice for him." The skull says. "Unless you have something to say to me young prince." he says.

I'll change to these two questions
>>
Well it's been a while since we were off and posting so I will speed it up.

"Well to be quite honest, I do have to tell you I am a little curious as to how Alric of Conder came to be in a skull on a scepter." You say.

The skull chuckles in the same whisper. "Magic lad. Magic is as real as the sand in the desert or the sun in the sky. A better question would have been why." It whispers.

"Though, here is something you should know." You say taking the spear and strapping it to your back. "The trip my father backed to Valyria was a success." You say.

"Good. I was worried about that. It was not my advice that drove him to that choice young Cedrick. It was the advice of another. Let's go to your father, and quickly." The skull whispers as you pick up the box and book that are with the Famous Pike.

You walk back to your fathers room. As you enter he smiles. "Faster than I thought." He says. You hand your father the scepter. He holds it briefly and a single tear rolls down his cheek. He hands it back to you.

"Go win the race my son." He says.

As you walk through the castle, the amount of respect you had previously gotten has increased tenfold. If you are correct, you are now the youngest prince to hold the pike and scepter. Granted, your father took a while to take the spear and scepter, he didn't feel he was ready. Also not everyone is fit for them. But you were.

As you step on to the courtyard, several nod their head in respect. Alexi grins. "Well, there was a pool if you would do it, I just want to let you know I won 10 stags today." He says causing you to laugh a little. He puts a bag on your horse "anything you need, Prince Cedrick." He says.

You look to the fore of your castle and see the red scorpions on the black mountain of the Stang clan. Lead by a young woman with a fierce look in her eyes.

"ser pate, what can you tell me about the fire pike." you say.

Ser Pate looks upon you with Grim eyes. "The last time your father used it he razed a village alone. It is a mighty weapon. Even just as a spear." he looks you in the eyes. "Never use the weapon lightly. The fire pike is death by fire."

You nod. "let us ride out and meet Stang before she gets anxious. YA!" you ride your horse and Audrey follows close behind.

You ride out like the fiercest desert wind to meet Elvira Stang. You and her meet in the middle between your parties.

"Cedrick "

" Elvira" you respond. The two of you act deathly serious for one whole second before the two of you begin laughing.

"My father has become incredibly sick with the snake flue and a terrible case of 'I am too lazy to go to my heirs' premier race'" You say in a tone that causes her to chuckle.

"Ah yes I believe my father had that too before he passed recently." She says dismounting. "Ah you bring your best hound." She says walking up to pet Audry. She is an attractive young woman, a bit petite, her eyes are a bright green and her hair is as black as night. She is still, despite all her beauty, the smart ass who cheated you out of 50 stags in a bet. "So I see you have the skull of your father and his pike." She says as your riders appear behind you and hers behind her.

"So we go to the race now yes?" She asks.

"I do believe we have lingered long enough." You say.

"Was there anyone else at the foothills?" You ask as you mount your horse.

"Well besides the Targs and the Martells, there were the Daynes, the Manwoody's, the ususal suspects plus a few foreign houses I didn't recognize. Some lions, a griffin, a fish, a tower, several others." She says.

Lions are of the westerlands, Reins and Lannisters, the Griffin is probably of one of a few houses but there is a notable house that allys with the targs that has a Griffin. The Tully's of the Riverlands have a fish. The tower is house high tower.

If you are correct this race has several high profile houses in attendance.

"Well, this is interesting." You say.

After a brief ride you arrive at the foothills in the shadow of the volcano. In the Shadow of the Tower. There are dozens of tents and people in attendance. Dozens of houses. Most from Dorne, but some as far away as the north. When you arrive you see some northerners are racing "hounds" which look graceless and inelegant.

The three of you go to the traditional mound where the race starts. Standing there is Gendry Bridgkeeper, the scion of your banner house and an intelligent individual. He is here to set out the quarry and moderate the race, not an easy task.

"So the quarry this year?" You ask.
"For your premier race, the coursing is an Oric" Gendry says, pointing the the large black antelope that has been penned.
"An Oric, I might just win this yet." Stang says with a smirk.
"I don't know, I have trained Audry well." You say and your dog gives an almost grin as much as a happy dog can.
"Rest the dogs for an hour, feed them." Gendry says.
"The race begins then."

You have one hour as you put water and food in a bowel for Audry.

I may not have been very specific in this,

So how the race is formatted and how it works is based on the old tradition of coursing. Which is setting hounds on prey.

The actual race will be done with a series of rolls.

This race is hosted by our house right? And we are the ranking noble here? We should probably go meet as many people as we can. Might as well get the more important ones out of the way first so we can relax a bit leading up to the race

Week has been hectic guys sorry!

You are able to successfully identify all the houses present. Granted it takes a few moments, but your father raised you right. Or at least well enough to know how to identify your houses.

You head over to the Martells first, and you talk to apparently the fifth and sixth in line to do be the next prince of dorne and the brother of the princess. The discussion is fruitful, and they seem interested in purchasing one of your pups.

The Targaryen present is Dareon and a few of his cadre. He looks like he is here for some sort of respite. He greets you warmly and your discussion is fairly formal. He also seems interested in purchasing a pup also, and has taken to Audry. He also, for some reason is quite interested in how quickly you obtained the pike and scepter of your house before he can talk further he is called away briefly.

You walk about and talk to other Dornish houses. Among them are the Brightforge, The Veritage, The Doyles, and others. Most of them are quite glad to see you and happy to see you with the scepter and pike.

You stop by the Daynes tent and you see Ser Arthur Dayne, which you are fairly certain is the most common name Daynes have as his father was named Arthur as well. They seem fairly impressed by how quickly you came to the scepter and pike. Arthur wishes well to you and your fathers health, albeit begrudgingly, and goes back to betting with a Martell.

You walk over to the "westerner" Encampment as Melly called it, and meet up with the Lannisters. Namely, Tytos, The lord of Casterly Rock. He is there with his children and his brothers. He seems to be a kind and friendly man, eager to please certainly but not the disposition of a man born to rule. His brothers are more interesting, but what pleases you most is that the oldest child, Tywin, is playing with one of your puppies. If the Lannisters are as rich as you think, you may make a few dragons for your house tonight.

You then stroll over to the two weirdest houses of the bunch. The Tully house, is farthest away from home. They seem to have come here as part of the Targs cadre, which is also why so many random houses are here including the Tullys and the Baratheons that are nearby.

You still have some after making the rounds.

>> Go talk to more of the Dornish neighbors you don't see that often.

>> Go talk to Dareon Targaryen, he seems like an interesting fellow.

>> Go talk to the Lannisters, maybe try to sell a puppy to Tywin.

>> Go talk to the Martells, see if the heard any information about your fathers fleet of ships heading towards your house.

You return to Dareon Targaryens tent. As you step inside you notice his sister Rhaelle leave the tent with a smirk on her face. As you step in he smiles and nods. "You really don't want to know what she is smiling about." Dareon says.

He puts down his wine glass "Is this from your house?" He says.

"As much as I would like to admit it is, Conder doesn't have wine. We have an herbal spirit that has been described by one king as "weaponiseable in it's terribleness." You say causing him to laugh.

"Cedrick, did you know you are the only Dornishman or woman here to visit the tent twice?" He says in a calm tone. "It says a bit about you. You're bold. You have the makings of a good leader, I can tell already." He says.

You smile at this as he drinks some more of the wine. "I have a few questions for you. One how much for the all black pup."

"I will not part with her for less than eight hundred stags." You say, and he nods

"I have never heard of a hound costing so much, but from what I hear of these hounds, it might actually be worth it. The second is, that tonight I will need a place to stay with my friend. Would it be alright if I was to stay at your castle for the evening?"

"I would have to check with my father, but I am almost positive he would say yes. However, my answer is yes, and it would be an honor." You say, feeling a slight bit guilty sucking up to royalty. But so far, Dareon has been alright.

"Splendid." He says in a chipper tone. "Now on to my next to questions. One, where in the seven hells did you grow a valyrian fire lily of that quality in the middle of a desert, and two," he opens up the tent side to show Aelanna Brightforge and Martin Dayne sparring. Aelanna is winning quite well. "Who is that?"

"Aleanna Brightforge." You say. Better known to some as the tempered lady, known to some others as the smith with tits, is without a doubt a great fighter, solid rider, and possibly the best smith in the whole of the seven kingdoms. She also, is a little crazy.

"She seems interesting." Dareon says with a little grin. "Could you make us an introduction?" He asks. On one hand, Dareon is single and a knight and a Targaryen a fine match for any woman. On the other hand, Aelanna isn't just called the tempered lady for her skills with a forge, and you don't want to start a scene.

How do you handle this one young prince?

>> Introduce Dareon, carefully.
