Last week was a nice one. You finally had the courage to write to your mom about the broomstick you broke and she told you not to worry about it and that she would send you a new one. She did seem to have been pleased even with your effort in the game, apart from the fact that you got injured of course.

Tim gifted you some chocolates and Glenn gave you a new silver vial for potioneering. Anya gave you a copy of a book called "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" You didn't check it out yet.

Now you are on your way to the Transfigurations class with your friends and you sit with Valdis in the class. Valdis was surprisingly fine with you leaving his Astronomy club so you are glad it didn't effect your friendship.

He tells you that he is totally rubbish in Transformation and it's not your best skill either.

Professor McGonagall starts talking about how Transfugiration is a science and also an art that only the sharpest of mind can hope to master. It is a bit intimidating. "Today I will show you how to turn animals into water goblets."

You spend some time practicing the words and the hand movements of the spell and finally feel ready to try it out. Everyone gets a small mouse from a box on Professor's table and place them on their own desks.

You aim at the mouse with your wand and say "Vera Verto"

"Vera Verto!" Your mouse stuns for a second and then suddenly and gracefully transforms into a nice water goblet. It's almost a perfect one. "Good one, Mr. Apise." Professor McGonagall approves. "Please do show Mr. Viridian some skill... I just feel sorry for the poor mouse."

You look to your left and see Valdis looking completely shocked at his mouse, which is now a half goblet half mouse with hairs and a tail. You try hard not to laugh and show how to better pronounce the words to Valdis.

Half of the class seems to have failed with the spell. Tim and Glenn keeps arguing on how to pronounce it the correct way while Anya admires her successful transfiguration.

"How are you so good at this John?" Valdis asks.

You try to show Valdis how to better cast the spell. At the end of the class you might say Valdis improved just a little but maybe not really. You head towards the door feeling satisfied and content with your achievement for today.

Then the Professor calls for you.

"Mr. Apise could you come over here for a minute, please?"

You nod to your friends and tell them you'll soon join them and turn around to walk towards the professor, leaving them with a surprised look on their faces.

"Yes, Professor?"

She sits and also offers you to sit down. "I wanted to ask how are you doing? You were injured kind of badly recently and also these accusations towards your aunt must have upset you."

You are a bit taken a back with this sudden softness coming from the Professor. You sit and think about your answer.

You climb the seats on one of the spectator towers of the Quidditch field to find a seat. Anthony and the rest of the team sits near the Slytherin side as they don't consider Hufflepuff to still be in the race. Anya and Glenn are cheering for Hufflepuff to support Mary, the girl from the Book Club who has recently become very interested in the Quidditch and Tim is also cheering for Hufflepuff just to see Slytherin lose.

David and Rachel and some other Slytherins are also watching the game.

You navigate through the seats to find the Ravenclaw team. Anthony and others are sitting and cheering loudly for Hufflepuff. You are really not sure if Ravenclaw can actually win the cup but you are sure that Anthony believes it.

Kristin, one of the chasers of the team is talking about some kind of Goblin while the keeper and the beaters are shouting some not very nice things towards the Slytherin team.

The game is quite in the middle with the score of 40-40. You catch a glimpse of Picar Aquila, the Seeker of Slytherin who beat you last match. He seems pretty determined and fast.

"...you will see guys when Hufflepuff wins now and we destroy Gryffindor next match we will win the cup!" Anthony claims.

Kristin is two years older than you and in 4th grade. She has green/yellowish eyes and brown hair with some light freckles.

She is telling that she saw a goblin last night but the other girl is just saying it was probably a House Elf, there are no goblins in Hogwarts.

Kristin gets excited. "What?? Really?? Tell me!!"

You tell her your midnight encounter with a goblin who was carrying a big chest.

"Well that is exactly how I saw him!" She says but both of you can't really be sure if it was the same goblin since you anything you describe to each other is basically just what a goblin is.

"I don't know if it was the same one" Kristin says. "But I never heard of goblins wandering around in Hogwarts." Hufflepuff scores and the crowd roars.

She continues after people calm down. "Mine wasn't carrying a chest but she had a satchel on his shoulder." She says it just run away quickly when he saw her. It was kind of late at night.

Slytherin seeker catches the Snitch. The game ends 210 to 70.

The whole Ravenclaw team's morale is suddenly at an all time low. You and Kristin get distracted from the subject.

Finally everyone starts leaving the field and everyone is speculating who will win the cup. You return to the Castle with everyone else and climb to the Ravenclaw tower. It makes you kind of sad to think that you are probably not gonna win the Cup this year...again.

After some hours spend in the Ravenclaw common room you decide to go to sleep. You don't know how long it has been but you wake up with someone shaking you.

You open your eyes to see Glenn. He is full of sweat and looks pale. "I...I think I saw...I saw something in my dream....It...It was very real." He continues to explain to you that he saw someone, he thinks a girl, in Hogwarts, running in the corridors and that there is the Death.

You try to get awaken as quickly as possible to understand what is Glenn saying. You leave the room with him not to wake the others up and talk in the corridors.

"You mean like...now??" You ask him still half shocked half asleep.

He nods nerviously. "I think so... It felt so real."

You grab Glenn and both of you run down the stairs and across the common room to exit the Ravenclaw Common Room.

You two leave the Ravenclaw Common Room and leave the Ravenclaw Tower.

After running for some minutes Glenn tells you he has no idea where to go. You remember Kristin telling you where she saw the Goblin so you head towards there. After some more minutes of running, Glenn and you are both out of breath.

You realize you are in a corridor actually you are not supposed to be. "Stupid stairs got us lost again!" Glenn complains while trying to breath. You hold your wand squeezed in your hand and try to think where to go.

You try to navigate the ever changing stairs and corridors to reach the floor near the Velvet Room and when you reach a floor in a very isolated part of the Castle you hear someone talking.

You hear someone talking at the end of the corridor. It sounds familiar. You and Glenn start walking quietly towards the voice.

"...ah...what are you doing here Mr.Nello?"

Sound is getting closer and closer.

Someone else is speaking this time. A girl. Sounds familiar too.

"...Good night..." Another voice. Much more familiar.

You are finally close enough to see who are talking. You see Rachel standing next to Professor Hevelius. Their backs are turned to you. They are facing someone else. It's Tim.

"What is going on here?" Professor Hevelius asks. "Where is the troll you saw?"

Rachel doesn't answer.

Glenn pokes you and tells you to hide with his hands near some statues in the corridor. You do that.

"You see Professor..." Tim says. "There are no trolls." His voice starts to get bolder. "There is only me." His voice cracks. You can see he is getting taller. His hair and facial feautres starts to change.

Rachel screams in shock.

"What is this..." Just as Professor tries to say something Tim interrupts.

"There is only me. Remember me?"

He doesn't look like Tim now. It is a grown man with longer hair and a beard. You recognize him. The Death Eater who attacked you in the Quidditch friendly match at the start of the year.

"Mr. Nello, as you call him. just had some useful hairs for me when I had the luck to encounter him earlier this year....and now I am here. I was here. Under your nose. Can't smell the dark magic as you used to now can you, Cerberus?" The Death Eater asks.

Professor Hevelius draws his wand. Rachel seems to be in a shock state.

You start to wait for a few more minutes, waiting for the right moment. You try to tell Glenn to get help but he seems kind of shocked watching the scene.

"Do you think I would have let you go, Cerberus? How many of us have you personally put into Azkaban?" The Death Eater also draws his wand. Rachel screams and tries to run away. "Stop little girl. Or I will blow you to a thousand pieces."

Professor Hevelius seems unable to move now without provoking the Death Eater to harm Rachel. "Do you want revenge?" he asks in a calm manner.

Death Eater seems to get annoyed with this question. "Yes I do! Tonight is the night of cleansing. All tratiors will be executed. The ones you have collaborated too."

"I haven't collaborated with any of your vile kin, Death Eater." The Professor replies.

You think this is the right moment and start to move towards them.

"Oh yes you did." The Death Eater continues. "Don't you think I know what kind of a conspiracy you have plotted with the Testudos?"

When the Death Eater mentions the name of your mother's family, you are already out in the open and about to act. You lose your control and cast the Expelliarmus on the Death Eater without a second though.

"Expelliarmus!" you shout and your spell hits the Death Eater. His wand flies away from his hand and falls on the ground.

Glenn also starts to move towards you while being in a kind of shock state.

"You!" the Death Eater shouts. "I knew it! I knew you were all together in this. How else would the mighty Cerberus let Luisa Testudos go away free?"

"John!" Professor shouts. "Get back!"

"Your aunt is dead, boy! She was a traitor and plotted with Cerberus here and sold all the other Death Eaters to him so he can lock them up forever."

"Are there others here?" Professor asks the Death Eater and moves slowly towards the wand on the floor.

"Maybe, maybe not." He replies. Professor seems still on edge. He takes the wand from the floor. "You will follow me to the dungeons."

You interrupt. "What do you mean my aunt is dead?"

The Death Eater laughs. "She is paying for her treason."

"My Aunt was never one of you!" you shout angrily.

"John..." Professor tries to calm you and get you, Glenn and Rachel to safety.

"Oh yes she was. She was supposed to infiltrate the Ministry... which is where she was caught."

Professor puts himself between you and the Death Eater.

"Ask your Professor if you don't believe me. She gave him names and he let her go."

"Enough!" the Professor authoritatively shouted. "You kids run to Profess-"

You interrupt him. "Tell me Professor. Is this true?"

Hevelius sighs. "No. It is not. Your aunt was innocent to my knowledge, John."

Death Eater laughs again. "Lying until the very end eh?"

Hevelius seems even more stressed and confused now but he forces the Death Eater to follow him and tries to send you and Glenn and Rachel away. But then Glenn suggests that the Velvet Room is just nearby and it would be easier to put the Death Eater there instead of the dungeons.

After a small explaination of what is the Velvet Room, the Professor agrees and all of you walk towards there. It is just one corridor away.

"I assure you John. Your Aunt was not a Death Eater. If she was...believe me I would know it." Professor tells you on the way.

You arrive at the Velvet Room. Something is amiss. The door is already open. "How can this be?" you think and realize someone is inside.

Something dark jumps out of the room, hits the Death Eater and the Professor on it's way out, lands on it's feet and holds a kind of satchel.

It is the Goblin.

The Goblin snaps his fingers and the nearest armored statue loses it's balance, falls on Rachel. She jumps away at the last second and just gets hit on her legs. She seems to be stuck on the floor with the armor on her.

"I have taken what is rightfully mine, finally." The Goblin hisses. You see he carries the Ring of Balerius on his hand. He seems to be also carrying other stuff in his satchel too. Before you could react you realize that as the Professor and the Death Eater are getting up, the Death Eater's wand is also on the floor. Before you could jump, the Death Eater dives for his wand. Professor casts a spell but he misses nearly. Still hits the shoulder of the Death Eater though. Blood splatters on the walls from the wound. Death Eater also casts something but it's deflected from the Professor's shield and instead hits chandelier. Chandelier falls down on the back of Glenn. This is not a place for children now.

You look again and the Goblin is gone.

Rachel is stucked under the armor in the middle of the duel.

You run to help Rachel out. You try to remove the armor but it's too strong. A spell might be needed. Then you see Glenn is actually not conscinous. You just hope that the chandelier didn't hit him in the head and its nothing serious.

Professor and the Death Eater gets ready to cast anothe spel to each other. "You, liar will go down tonight!" shouts the Death Eater.

You try to pull the armor but it's too heavy. So you decide to cast a spell. Something to levitate it. You have practiced spell many times over the two years so it comes naturally to you. You cast the spell and the armor starts moving slowly. A spell flies over your head as you are trying to save Rachel in the middle of the duel. It is getting very dangerous. You duck at the last moment to avoid getting hit.

"John!" you hear someone shouting. As you try to get Rachel out, you afford to look away for a second. You look at the woman who called for you. A woman in black robes, with a wand in hand is running towards you.

It is your mother, Joan.

The armor levitates and falls down next to Rachel, she is free to go now as you see your mother running towards you.

Joan Apise, wearing a dark robe with her wand in her hand is fast and aims at the Death Eater.

"Did you find your dead sister?" the Death Eater asks provokingly. "Do you still deny you work with them Cerberus?"

Professor seems to be still confused with the whole thing.

"No." replies Joan. "Your partner, who came to kill Luisa, is dead." She raises her wand. "And I squeezed this plan of yours out of him before he died. One to kill Luisa and one to kill Hevelius tonight. I will not let it happen."

Realizing that half of his plan failed, the Death Eater seems to get nervous. "You killed Vlad? He died in the service of the Dark Lord then. A good death. Yours will not be so good." Another flurry of spells explode between the Death Eater, Professor and Joan.

You pull Rachel and crawl towards Glenn to check if he is okay.

As you crawl next to Glenn, he is slowly regainin his consciousness. "Are you okay Glenn?" you ask. He shrugs, looks like in pain. But says he "will live."

Rachel still seems to be in a shock. "I..I didn't...I didn't know...He was Tim...then...he is...he tricked me..." She seems to be about to cry.

"You have grown old Cerberus. Is that why you start teaching?" the Death Eater taunts the Professor. As their duel continues, the Death Eater plays it smart and on the defensive. "But you are lucky your partners in crime came to rescue you. Luisa might be saved for now but nobody can get away after betraying the Dark Lord."

"I have no connection with them." Hevelius says as he casts a spell and vines launch from the walls behind the Death Eater to hold him.

"Stop lying, old man!" the Death Eater replies as he burns the vines with a quick fire spell and deflects a disarming spell from Joan. "Stop lying and admit what you did. You made a pact with her! A Death Eater. You are a hypocrite."

"I have tried her and found her innocent." Hevelius replies in a short breath as he tries to counter the fire spell of the Death Eater with a water conjuring charm.

Death Eater laughs. "Why is her sister here to protect you then?" and then he directs a spell towards you, Glenn and Rachel. Many green and purple vipers are summoned around you. Glenn shrieks and tries to protect himself. Rachel jumps away tries to get away from the snakes. You start casting one of the spells you know to hit the vipers, "Incendio!"

One of the vipers is burned and hisses in pain. Others try to bite you and open their mouths while coming towards you.

"John!" Your mother shouts. She seems very pissed now.

Almost ten Bludger-like objects fly towards the Death Eater, some hit his shield and explode but a few of them hit him and one hits him on his face. He looks all bloodied now. Then Joan casts a spell towards the vipers but only hit a few of them. You are still in danger. Rachel has her back on the wall now and two vipers are coming towards her.

"Hevelius didn't make any pacts with my family." Joan says. "He found Luisa not guilty."

"How can the famous, know-it-all, dark wizard hunter Cerberus would found a Death Eater guilty?" Death Eater snarls, as he tries to put a shielding spell around him.

"Because I made him do it." Joan says. Another spell from her wand hits another viper. "I always protect my family and do anything I need to do."

"You wh-" Death Eater's sentence is broken as a spell from Hevelius hits him and he falls to his knees, still holding his wand.

Professor now faces Joan. "It was you!" he exclaims. "All this time. I researched again and again. Tried to remember. It was because of you. You put an Imperius on me!"

You are now facing two vipers in front of you. Another viper is coming towards Glenn and two has Rachel trapped at the corner of the wall. It seems you have to choose to help one. You cast another Incendio on the vipers facing you and they hiss in pain as they are caught on fire. The whole corridor smells like rotting skin now. Everything seems to be happening so fast. Only about fifteen minutes past since you first encountered the Death Eater yet it felt like a lifetime to you. What do you do?

"My mom used an unforgivable curse on Professor Hevelius?" you can't belive what did you just hear. But you don't have much time to think now.

You aim your wand on the viper crawling towards Glenn. "Incendio!" The viper starts burning.

You run towards Rachel and try to block the vipers physically. You stomp the floor and try to catch their attention. One of the vipers turn to you. The other one starts to raise itself in the air looking and looks kind of like those snakes dancing for the music you have seen before in gypsy performances and such.

"...I know what I did and I am here to protect you now." you hear your mother say but then something happens.

Just as your mom finishes her words to Professor, you hear an incantation. "Avada Kedavra!"

Professor suddenly falls on the floor as if hit by something. His eyes still open, but looking empty. Glenn screams in fear. Death Eater's laugh echoes as he killed Professor Hevelius.

"No!" you hear your mother scream.

You feel as if you are watching yourself moving from outside. Everything feels so surreal. Professor is dead. Death Eater laughing maniacally. Your mom's scream. Glenn sitting on the floor next to some burning vipers. Rachel hissing to the viper that looks like hypnotized in front of her.

For a second you can't understand what is going on. Then you snap out of it. Rachel seems to be hissing something to the snake. Then the snake opens it's mouth wide open. And suddenly bites itself.

You hear your mom and the Death Eater dueling.

You run to Glenn and try to take him away from the duel. You realize his shoulder is bleeding and he seems pale. "Hang on Glenn!" you tell him and take him out of the harm's way.

Just as you do that a spell explodes on the wall where Glenn was a few seconds ago. You saved his life.

Rachel seems to be safe for now too as the vipers that was attacking her lie dead on the floor.

"You dare to attack them?" Joan shouts to the Death Eater. You see the Death Eater is casting another spell.

You don' t know either. You feel extreme stress as your mother is dueling with a Death Eater. "Is the professor really dead?" Glenn asks weakly.

At the sametime Joan ducks and evades a curse.

"I think someone is coming" Rachel says. You can also hear some sounds approaching from the end of the corridor.

"I will kill your child and the others!" Death Eater claims while casting another spell directed at the three of you.

"Nobody touches my family!" Joan jumps sideways, blocks the Death Eater's view of you, her black robes gracefully dancing as she moves. She raises her wand. "Go to Hell!" she aims at the Death Eater.

"Avada Kedavra!"

A green light shines on the tip of your mother's wand and it all happens so quickly.

The Death Eater falls to the floor, dead.

Nobody moves or speaks for a moment. The approaching footsteps echoes in the corridor. Then Joan runs towards you. She hugs you in a tight embrace and then looks at the three of you. "They must not know I was here." she says.

"They must not know I was here." she repeats. "They must think as the Professor died he took the Death Eater with him. There isn't much time."

"Mom...how...how are you here? What happened? Is..is aunt Luisa dead?"

"No, John. She is not dead. We don't have time. They mustn't see me."

"How did you come here?"

"They attacked Luisa. And I learned of their plan. I came to protect him and the students..." She looks down. "I owed him that..."

Then she stands up. "I must go now. I have arrived with my broom and I have ways to fly without being seen. I will leave through the window in the secret room I taught you."

"That was you...who opened the door-"

"We don't have time honey. I love you. I am sorry. Keep my secret." She kisses you on the forehead. "They must not know." She tells to you and then look at the others as well. Then she runs.

You hear the footsteps coming closer. A few seconds later you see them. Mr. Filch and Professor Flitwick. "Here! Here Filch! Call Dumbeldore quick!"

Flitwick runs towards you now.

>"Glenn, Rachel...can I trust you? We need to keep this as a secret or my mom would be in trouble...please."

You choose not to say anything. Everything happening is just too much to process. You just look down and hope your friends will understand.

Flitwick arrives and starts asking questions. Filtch controls the bodies and confirm that they are dead. Flitwick shouts at him to run and get Dumbledore.

"What happened? Are you all right?" He asks.

You just nod but can't find the words... then you remember Glenn. "Glenn is hu..hurt Professor!" Professor quickly examines Glenn and make him sit on the floor. "All right my boy...it's all right...don't worry now." He tries to examine Glenn's bloody wound.

"It was a Death Eater, Professor. He was disguised as a student. He attacked Professor Hevelius and killed him. But Professor managed to take him out too... that was as good as I can see...he attacked us too...John saved me"

Flitwick seems very shocked and upset at the same time. "Oh Cerberus... my poor friend..." You can see tears filling up his eyes. "And...and you my boy, you managed to protect your friends?" He emotionally hugs you.

Just in a few minutes Dumbledore and the rest of the staff arrives.

They quickly carry the bodies of the Professor and the Death Eater. Professor Snape takes Glenn to the Infirmary Wing quickly after asking some questions to Rachel.

Dumbledore says something to Flitwick and then he comes over to you and Rachel and tell you to follow him.

You two nervously follow Flitwick. He stops near an ugly stone Gargoyle and says a word. A door opens.

He enters the room and tells you to follow him. You and Rachel follow.

It is a circular room with a lot of windows and lot of portraits of old people. Most of them seem to be sleeping and the awake ones pretend to be asleep.

"The Headmaster would like to talk to you... just wait for him here." Flitwick says and takes off in a hurry. You see the sorting hat on one of the tables and a red bird in a cage near it.

Rachel looks around but she seems to be too afraid to touch anything.

"Good night young boy...young lady. I know I saw you before with my great-great-really-great grandson. What happened? Did you accidently kill someone? I know I heard something like this from Dippet.."

One of the portraits talk to you. He has a big vial on his hand and looks like a perfect potioneer. You recognize him immedieatly. It's Vindictus Viridian."

Rachel shrugs. "I don't know...but...I don't have a reason to be out there like you...what can I say?"

Then you think. Why WAS Rachel there anyway?

"I...I told the Professor to come with me...I told him... I lied to him that I saw a troll."

"But why?" you ask.

"Tim...well not Tim...that Death Eater...posing as Tim, he...he tricked me. He was telling me of this story for months now. We used to meet in the library. He told me I was the one. The Chosen One. To enter a great room. I was worthy. He saw me talking in Parseltongue. I didn't realize he was there...Then he told me I was the one to open some room. I was the Heir of Slytherin." You can see she is getting very nervous and teary eyed now. "I... I never wanted the Professor to die!"

He tells you some stuff about the whole thing but your mind wanders off. "Mom killed that man." your thoughts race in your head.

"...you should know that utmost security measures will be enforced in Hogwarts..."

Dumbledore continues to speak... but you are thinking "Mom cast an Imperius curse on my professor... to save my Aunt...she was a Death Eater..."

"...and finally Professor Mc Gonagall will be personally taking care of you if you need anyone to talk to about..."

You hear Rachel saying something. She says she thought it was Tim and that he called him to meet outside for a very important thing... She also tells some lies. She seems to be good at this. You just want to return to your bed and sleep.

"...John...John! I was saying if you wish you can return to your home for a while...maybe for the rest of the semester."

You thank the Professor and stand up. Both you and Rachel exit the room and walk towards the main stairs. Rachel asks you not to tell anyone of her ability either...you just nod. You feel sad...and empty. You don't know what to do.

Professor Flitwick find you at the stairs and you say goodbye to Rachel. On the way to the Ravenclaw Tower you tell Flitwick that you would be heading home soon. He says he is sad that you had to witness this. Tells you not to think about it and concentrate and your classes.

"I believe in you John. I know you will be a great wizard one day..."

He answers the riddle and the door to the Ravenclaw Common Room opens. As you head inside he says,

"Oh and John, Mr. DeMange told me how you defended him and Miss Rosenfeld against the Death Eater and how you defeated the snakes he summoned."

You feel like you are blushing. "Thats...that's true, Professor."

"You will be a great wizard...and a great hero, John. For your service to this school tonight, 100 points to Ravenclaw!"

You don't know what to feel. Do you deserve this? Didn't your family caused these problems? Or should you just blame the Death Eater like everyone? Your mom was only protecting you.

"Th..thanks Professor"

You enter the Common Room. Thankfully everyone is sleeping. You were afraid that people heard about all the trouble. Glenn is not in his bed. Must be staying in the Infirmary overnight. Tim is sleeping. The real Tim. Valdis is snoring.

Your roommates...you will miss them...

But you decided to go home. You need time. Time to think. You put your head on the pillow and close your eyes. Wild running thoughts suddeny come to an halt as you start to drift away to the dreams. No more stressing or thinking now... in your dreams you enter a world that is entirely your own.
