Howdy guys.

Lets see... 1 1/2 months for our birthday and 3 1/2 for the wedding (roughly)

Last time, we helped Athena get her scion job so she could have beastmaster and bard up at the same time, then helped her with catching her first menagerie monster.

Want to fast forward a couple more weeks until more lab progress is made, or want to have some SoL? and in what way?

Alrighty.

***

With mom Linda holding Portia's hand, we head towards the government building in Albion.

We walk through a large plaza with many curvy white roads over placid hills of grass and flowers. It is a rather well cared-for area, including a small pool where some water fowl are simming placidly while pedestrians feed them bread crumbs.

The plaza is relatively new, having been inaugured just a year ago as part of a urban renewal project initiated thanks to the extra trade taxes that the city is receiving now that it has a rockitship dock and is connected with Opal and Blacklake through reliable means.

It looks like the visiting parents have just as much fun watching the children throw bread crumbs to the ducks as the children themselves. It is a very relaxing atmosphere.

Street vendors aren't allowed on the plaze, but they do line the walkways across the street, so people are often having snacks.

That includes us, since mom bough some dried salty meat chips for us and Portia.

"Finish your snack before we go in." -says mom while cleaning Portia's face
"Yes."

Once we are done with our salty treats, we head towards the step of the government building.

I wonder if these are healtier than the snack foods in our own world? they're real (dried) meat after all, rather than a mix of inflated chemicals.

Well, they have a lot of salt, but in this world, such treats are rare and salt is still a valuable and expensive commodity, after all.

By the way, only kobolds drop salt as loot when you are away from the sea. Albeit near the sea, it is not rare at all since the dungeons are full of fish monsters.

Mommy Linda checks the documents and heads in with us.

Heading straight into the same office as last time, we go in after a short wait, and start talking with the clerk in charge.

As he explains it, with official recognition from another protectorate member, they have no problem with issuing a proper ID for Portia. It will be done in a week, so we just need to come retrieve it at that time.

Uhm... that reminds us, our ID is something like a locker. It has a mild enchantment that lets it update automatically, but it only shows our first job, our class, and our age on top of our name.

Well, it probably was never meant to show more than 1 job at the same time.

1/?
>>
>>67053

"What are Albion IDs like?"

The clerk takes out his own and hands it to us so we can look at it.

Our own ID brooch is round and you open it by sliding the cover to the right or left. It is made of steel and plated in silver, with a magically updating portrait in one of the open halves, and our name, age, race, class and job in the other.

It is a pretty high class-looking item.

As expected, the clerk's is just like Lyann's. It is a little heavier, and doesn't has a magical portrait (which would doubtlessly work as an ID photo). It does have the age, name, job, class and race displayed on it, though.

It is made of cheaper materials, but the clerk informs us that it is impossible to lose it once it has been handed to you, since you can always summon it at will.

So, is not as elegant as ours, but it is arguably better? I think?

Back on earth, we lost our wallet only once in our whole life, but still had to repalce our ID many times.

If our current ID was impossible to lose, it would be truly ideal.

We pay 20 silvers to have Portia's ID issued to her, and thank the man for his time as we leave.

"Uhmm... since I have you now, maybe I should take you two to the merchant district and get you new clothes."

As expected of mom, she is quite practical.

Well, its not as if we are against it, but somehow, for our mom to take us shopping for clothes... as expected, there's no way we would like it?

All the same, mom takes us downtown and has us try several sets of clothes for her amus-- I mean, approval.

>>>Buy a fancy hat for mom

We are ready to take a coach back, but mom wants to walk with us, so we end up having a nice long evening walk before arriving home.

Mom's hat is white with large black and golden feathers, btw. It is taller than wide, and has a feel like that of a band leader, somehow.

Still, it looks very elegant.

"Uhmm... I'm glad we got to walk home." -says mom as she holds our hands (ours and Portia's)
"Ah, the air is a bit dry up here...."

Is it hard for Portia? well, she used to live in the middle of the rain forest, after all. Plus, we are in the mountains, so yeah, the air is dryer, I guess.

"Do you want to have a rest?" -asks mom while looking for a spot to stop at
"Alright." -answers Portia, softly

We head towards a empty lot to rest. Well, the neighboring houses seem to take good care of it, so it is clean and nice. There's short grass and an apple tree near the middle, with little else on it.

I guess this is what used to be called the commons, right? Plus, there's no trash at all.

You could say it is a difference in mentality compared to our old world. Such a place would doubtlessly have varying degrees of littering if it was in our old world.

Let's hope that while helping this world become more modern, it manages to keep its values.

The good ones, anyway. It would be nice if we got rid of things like slavery and slave breeding pens. Specially the breeding pens.

That reminds us, those are all located in Bastion territory, to the east.

We still haven't gone there, but maybe we shouldnt take our little sisters along when and if we visit?

Portia seems to be having a good time. She is sort of spread on the grass, resting her human torse on top od her spider's body.

Looks like she can easily turn 180° at the waist. She's quite comfortable as she naps.

"Eldric, where are you going to live after you marry? will you stay home with us?" -asks mom while she caresses our hair.

We are enjoying our mom's lap pillow right now. It feels quite homely.

ah that's true. But I think it would be better to take some o the empty rooms and link them with doors connecting them directly, then. We could link 3 rooms like that if we dont have anyone move to other rooms.

After the present school year is done, we can move to the island manor without rushing, and then Aritsu can commute by [Treestride] so she can get her degree.

Mom nods and seems a bit sad with it.

"Uuh... I have to pamper my baby boy as much as possible before he's gone, then."
"Please don't"
"Denied." -she says with a refreshing smile
"Uhnnn."

Once Portia is feeling better, we finish our walk and arrive home.

Actually, Lyann is already back from the lab, waiting for us at the door.

"Oh, what a dutyful wife you got." -says mom

Our smaller siblings run out towards mom, and we go into the house for the day.

***

The next evening, we went to work with miss Yin at the office.
Thankfully, there's only routine paperwork so we are able to finish easily, then Mako and Ren sneak into the office with snacks to run from their daily work.

Is Ren a bad influence on Mako?

Though, a slightly mischievous Mako is fine too. It means she is more confident now, right?

That's how, we spend a very pleasant evening between two black haired beauties as they pour us tea and have cookies with us.

Yup, it's a very wholesome time.

***

The next evening, Verdi and Lyann confirm to us that they are sure they will be able to convert job levels into monster levels, but they are a bit worried since there's a strong possibility that may cause a high level volunteer to 'evolve' one or more times when it is done.

Well, it can't be helped. If you suddenly gave 100+ levels to a monster, theres a huge chances it will evolve, after all.

Do humans evolve into anything, anyway? it is not clear if we want to find out.

"Uhmm... Zoe says she wants to volunteer, but I'd rather try it on myself first." -says Lyann while deep in thought

I suggest finding a slave that got into debt and had to sell themselves into a contract.

This gives us a good base to work from (people of this type are usually low level enough that they won't just evolve), and we get a person out of an indentured work contract early.

Of course, tell the prospective "volunteer" the possible danger of being stuck as a Monster.

"Oh, me! me!" - Dawn cries out as she appears from an air duct in the wall, near the roof.
"Do I want to know why were you in there?" -says Lyann while looking at her with a dubious expression
"Running from miss Dusk." -answers the girl, shamelessly

Lyann and Verdi look at her, then our lovely redhead sighs and our colleague rubs the bridge of his nose.

"And why do you want to try it out?"
"I'm an hybrid, you know? I shouldnt have any natural evolution."

Right, this girl was artificially made as a vampire and succubus... vampiric succubus? seductress vampiress?

Well, she was already brutalized once as a lab subject so her "dad" could harvest her organs several times before we rescued her.

Is it alright? are you really alright with it?
Why are you alright with it?

"And why do you want to do it?" - we ask after a pause
"I'm unlikely to evolve, and if it happens, it sounds like it would be interesting anyway." -she says matter of fact

Go with the Human Slave idea.

>>67812
It's not even about experimenting on a dignitary, since Dawn wants to try it out herself.
It's that because she's a hybrid, we can't extrapolate the data we get from her to the regular population of civilized races.

We should bop her on the head for not thinking this through clearly.
>>
>>67844
What would her brother's reaction be if he finds out we let his sister be experimented on?
>>
>>67853
That's a difficult question, because while he's very protective of her, he also tries to push the boundaries of science just as much as us and Okaba.

In fact, it could be said that Okaba and Asmund are far better scientists than Eldric.
The only difference between Okaba and Asmund is that the former considers how a scientific discovery can be used to help every citizen, and the latter considers how it can be used to bolster the state in order to help the citizens.
>>
>>67853
>>67877
Also, he's pretty permissive about what Dawn does.
If he knows this was something that Dawn asked for, he'd probably just shrug his shoulders like he does with all of her antics.
>>
>>67877
A true scientist has no morality, the closer to that you get the less that kind of question gets asked.

Eldric balances it out with Justice (cuteness).

"After all, there's no good ideas, uh?" -says Lyann
"We will need to look for a volunteer." -we add
"Nee nee, me, me, I can do it, nee, nee!" -says Dawn as she pokes her arm and head out of the air duct
"We could try the slave market, maybe? someone who fell because of debt, maybe?" -suggests Verdi
"Nee, nee, is this abandonment play?" -asks Dawn while squirming

W-why do you know of such a term?! No, let's not ask, I feel like I would lose something important if I asked.

"Daaawn...." -Dusk's voice is heard from somewhere inside the walls(?)
"EEeep!" -the pink-haired succubus cries and goes back into the duct, then quickly crawls away

That leaves Eldric, Lyann and Verdi staring at each other.

"I still think I should do it." -says Lyann- "It would be useful if you could add me to your menagerie, right? even if I got taken down, nothing would really happen, and you could take me along everywhere."
"...pass."

The sound of two quick crawling bodies moving through the ducts can be heard coming from behind the walls.

Ignore it, ignore it.
If you care, you lose.

"You are too high level." - Verdi doesn't really cares about our relationship issues, he just states what he feels are good reasons to opose it.
"Well, you could..."
"I'm a researcher, not a hero." .he says calmly

That's right. Just because you don't volunteer for human experimentation, it doesn't makes you a coward. It's the sane thing to say.

"Uhmm..." x3

"...this place again..." -Lyann looks at the merchant's stockade with mixed feelings

Well, she was never held there. She only was brought there for the final sale, so its not as if she has dark memories of it, but until the very last day, it was a place she deeply feared to see.

Thus, she has mixed feelings about it.

We hold her hand and squeeze it firmly.

"Why this place?" -asks Verdi
"They sell excellent slaves here, Truly premium class merchandise, you know?"
"O ho? I see." -he seems convinced
"...idiot." -says Lyann while blushing

That's okay, because blushing Lyann is adorable.

We go into the building, and find it much the same, but with more crates in the main yard. It looks like they just received some merchandise.

They took down the read wall for some reason... ah it seems they made it into a wide set of doors for wagons. There's also a new second floor.

We go into the main building and ask to talk to the man in charge.

Ah... is this guy again.
A fat, kind looking man that looks as if all the goodness in the world had been distilled into him.

Even though he's a slave trader. Well, that's unfair, he's a trader who happens to handle slaves, sometimes.

"Excuse us." -we say as we go into the office

It's been 7 years, so we need to reintroduce ourselves.

"Oh! I see, I see! I heard your name a lot after that, you built the rockitship docks, right? you've become a big shot. That's good. Good." -he nods to himself as he greets us.
"This is Verdi, a fellow scholar. Lyann is my fianceé."
"Uhmm?... oh... OH! you grew up into such a gorgeous young lady! Oh, you look like you've had quite the hapy life, uh? thats good. Yes, yes."
"Ah... nice meeting you again." -Lyann i clearly unsure on what to say

Once we explain the situation (to an extent), the merchant nods, thinking about it.

"I see, so you want people without criminal pasts, uh? I can probably gather some for you, but if you only need one, I would like to ask for a fee as facilitator. After all, the ones you don't buy, I will have to keep afterwards."

Slavery is viewed as a normal part of life in this world, right?
And as part of the justice system.

Do slavers actually go out and raid towns and villages for more slaves?

Only illegal ones, and they usually target nomad tribes or have brreding farms for slaves.
>Or are they more like bank repo men and bounty hunters who track down people that reneged on their loans?
In most civilized countries, that's how it works, but not always.
Lyann for example was sold by her family
Elven redugees that moved to Opal kingdom were enslaved by 5 years by the state before being given citizenship. They did get their citizenship, btw

Normally, you can only fall to slavery by court appointment. Rather than being sent to prison, you are given a temporal slavery contract for X years which cannot be broken or altered.
Debtors are usually shipped to work camps until they pay off their debts, and these slaves are the most heavily regulated ones.

Since they are not 'really' criminals, the state usually tracks their wellbeing, how much are they being 'paid towards their debt' and such.

Exceptions occur, of course, and there's some legal loops.

For example, beastkin are often sold as monsters in some countries, poor families sometimes sell children into slavery, as well, but that was common even back on Earth at one point.

****

"What do you mean when you say you will need to keep the ones we don't buy?"
"I don't normally trade with slaves. I don't have a single one in stock right now. I'll move some favors and get other merchants to sell me their indebted slaves so you can check them all in one place, but then the ones you don't buy, I will have to keep, right?"

Basically what he wanted to do was:

Sell us some, keep some, and get new owners for those we left behind

What we want, it seems, is:

So I'm wondering, do we have enough personal funds to commission our own Glassteel foundries to supply our Kuat Drive Yards and Sienar Fleet Yards?
I would like to have enough glassteel to be able to construct Miel's Capital Hiveship with the material.

Though 8 tons a month is probably too little to be able to make anything close to Star Destroyer scale, or even Iowa-class sized.

Maybe we can have the new succubus town become a maker of alchemical materials as well as glassworks.
>>
Alrighty guys let's continue from where we left lastnight, then. Im gonna post in twitter to let everyone know we are continuing

>I would like to have enough glassteel to be able to construct Miel's Capital Hiveship with the material.

You know I was thinking about it. Isn't a transparent residence really only good at first look, as an idea? sure, a crystal palace sounds faery tale like, but wouldnt it be annoying to have all the walls in your house be transparent?

But turning the new town into a industrial one would work, I guess? would give them a mean to sustain themselves

only if your not into that sort of thing I think

That's true, but wouldn't it make sense that the throne room for a honey fairy ship also double as a greenhouse?
I suppose it would be a combination of regular materials for the majority of the hull, and glassteel for the throneroom/bridge of the ship.

It will be a little out of nowhere, though, let me see if I can think of a good reason for it...

Uhmm... alright, Im gonna go with wanting her to help scan the regions where there's honeyfaery colonies for wandering [ERROR]s as the reason for it.

***

That night, Lyann was particularly amorous.
Well, I think it's natural that being reminded about her gloomy past would make her want to be comforted.

Rather than sexy times, it was more of a cuddle and hugging time. So much so that I think it would have qualified for a Disney movie.

Honestly, she's a very brave young woman, but I think it is okay for her to show her delicate side from time to time.

As long as it is just to me, that is.

In the morning, I found she was still between my arms, and therefore proceeded to kiss her awake.

Because? Isn't that the natural thing to do with a cute girl after such a nice mood?

Well, you could argue for a more pink and lewd experience, but I think it wasn't the right mood for that.

Of course, whenever she is in the right mood for pink lewd sexy times, I open my arms and welcome her with a smile.

*cough*

School went by quickly enough. To begin with, we are last years now so we have a rather empty schedule, officially. You know, just finishing the mandatory classes and going to a few extra classes suiting our interests.

Incidentally, that is enough to graduate and immediately receive a Silver-class acreditation as a mage and start working as an assistant researcher in the mage's guild, stay in the college as an assistant teacher, or become a medium-ranked adventurer right off the bat, but if you finish the full 10 years long course, you leave with a much better social and professional position.

Well, that was Aritsu and Sinoe's original plan. For an elf, studying for 10 years in order to set step into the scholar scene as a respected individual is not a particularly long time at all, and even though we promised to help them stabilize the forest kingdom soon, there's no reason for them to drop their hard work up to this point, right?

Anyway, Aldo, the dwarf researcher speacializing in constructs, has begun testing some heavier flying drones.

He's not testing them inside the college grounds (or even the city) because there's a possibility they will go out of control, explode, attack things (not just people or monsters, but seemingly random things like trees or rocks as well), or just go and fly away in a straight line, and all of those would be bad news inside a populated area, so he and Zoe are 'going out' together in the evenings as of late.

Well, it's Zoe, so I'm not worried.
Because she's an excellent scholar, you know?
I'm not worried at all.
I'm really not.
Even if dwarves love the fluffy tails and the pointy ears of the beastkin.

Well... maybe I'm a little worried?

>>
>>73639

*Ahem*

Anyway, we ran a lot of numbers through our reliably unreliable succubus vampire lab assistant/supercomputer/goofer in order to check Gina's work, and it looks like her research is making steady progress.

By the way, we are treating Dawn as something like a scientific calculator that we can all use, but she doesn't seem to mind, since she mostly just hangs around and peeks over everyone's shoulder when she's not running away from Dusk or pouring tea (after being caught by Dusk).

By the way, she looks cute in a maid suit. Rather than the harem-like light clothing of the succubus living in Heven, she's wearing a more traditional uniform like that of maids in Eopolis or Sbastia.

Of course, it has a succubus inside, so the general atmosphere it's still 'lewd' but it probably can't be helped.

I just wish she didn't ask for my blood whenever we want her to run our numbers for us.

...there's nothing pink-colored about it, by the way. It's because we have the highest mana pool out of everyone else, so she says she gets the most out of us.

Actually, Zoe has the biggest mana pool out of everyone on the lab, but it seems Dawn loves to tease and make lewd jokes whenever she's stocking up on mana/blood, so there's no way we are going to let her glomp unto our kitty sister, you know?

"Uhhmm..." -she licks licks at the tip of our stretched finger while holding our forearm between her breasts
"That's enough, isn't it?"
"Uhnn... maybe? just a little more."
"You don't really need[/1] to get mana like this, right? your brother let you the mana generator for that."
"Ugh, how would you like to forever 'eat' through a tube inserting nutrients into your arm?"

...I see. Indeed, I guess you 'could' live on pills and nutrient serum bags, but it would be awful, right? If that's all, I don't really mind. I think.

"How do you know about serum bags, anyway?"
"Father did a lot of experiments on beasts, you know? I know a lot about all things related to specimens and such."
"Ah."

Let's not dig into it beyond that, I guess.

"So?"
"Gina's numbers are aaaaaalmost right. The fence will collapse if 50 or more [ERROR]s attack it at the same time, though, due to being unable to create and maintain any more simultaneous signals beyond that point."
"Solutions?"
"Parallel generators so they split the strain among them all, extra layers that continuously regenerate and advance so there's always a new barrier once the old one collapses, or just make smaller barriers against which it would be impossible for 50 [ERROR]s to lean against it, you know? instead of a single large barrier, plenty of smaller ones."

>>
>>73836
>>73832
>>>Let her keep sucking and ask her in more detail about each solution

*sigh* We let her bite and suck on our finger

*bite*
*suck suck*

Just so you know, it doesn't really hurts. Even though she makes a big show out of showing off her sharp canines when she's about to bite, she doesn't really uses her teeth.

Well, she's part vampire, so she has them, but I think they're meant to secure her prey rather than allowing her to drink through them.

I think her 'father' wasn't expecting or trying to get a intelligent being out of his experiments when she created, but some sort of war beast, to be honest.

Her childhood must have been really hard.

Anyway, she goes "hisss!" and 'bites' but honestly, she slows down at the very last moment so she doesn't actually bites. It's more like a playful nibble. Her tongue, on the other side, seems to be what makes the cut.

Somehow.

Since she first hides our fingertip behind her lips, we have no idea of what actually happens, but our finger goes in, gets licked, and when we see it again, there's a small vertical cut on it right where she was licking.

Since she likes to make a show out of it, we can get a look at her tongue when we pay attention, but it doesn't seem to have any barbs or anything like that. It feels pretty soft and warm. I wonder how she does it...

"So, what would be the pros and cons of each of those solutions?" -we ask patiently while letting her have her way with our finger

We are sitting in front of each other, though close enough she can pull on our arm and immobilize it between her breasts.

JSYK she's wearing the school uniform, ok?

"If you install extra generators..."
Pros
* Can support a larger barrier
* Can withstand 15% more [ERROR]s per generator
Cons
* Cost will go up by 20% per generator
* If a lot of different [ERROR]s attack, some may be able to make it through because it will be slow to adapt to the many different signals until better connectivity between the generators can be achieved.

"In short, it would be able to handle a large number of errors as long as they are more or less the same types?"
"Yup!" -she says while licking licking at our fingertip
"Please continue."

lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick lick

"I meant keep explaining!"
"Ah. Let me see... About the regenerating barriers."
Pros
* Replacing the barriers as they collapse and using them to push the enemies away means we can actually advance against the enemy using them as an improvised ice breaker ship
Cons
* Will need a much more complex array and harness for the barriers themselves, increasing the possibility of mechanical failure by 0.5% per minute of continuous use
*Total cost increase of 50% with currently available metallurgical technology

"That sounds good for vehicles, but not really something you need with fortresses and such."

*she shrubs while sucking on our finger*

1/?
>>
>>73979

"As for the last one..." -she continues

If we want to install multiple smaller barriers:
Pros
* Each barrier is cheap and since they are small, they can be made modular and any building or vehicle can just be covered with 'as many as needed'
* They can be built at a central factory and then shipped to, or installed, wherever they are needed

Cons
* There's a base 1% chance any one barrier will fail. Having many small barriers means any one of them may fail.
* Having a centralized factory means that factory will become a priority target once discovered by the [ERROR]s

"Well, modular parts is always a good thing..."
"I just run numbers, don't ask me for decisions." -she says as she idly sucks sucks on our finger.

By the way, it doesn't hurt. I guess she must have some natural painkiller in her spit, like regular vampire bats.

Yes.
Because the Multiple Generators are for cities and towns, but they're expensive and big.
The modular shields would be useful for smaller villages and individual buildings as well as emergency shelters, but not for big structures or towns because of the escalating chance of failure.
>>
>>74265
For right now.
We'll need to work on multiple generators later, because we'll need them to defend places like Heliopolis and the Keep.

The modular shields are better suited to created instant fortifications and shelters.

We nod and recover our finger from Dawn's jaws... well, she's actually a pretty cute girl so calling them jaws is sort of mean, but there's this feeling we need to somehow keep her away or it would be bad, you know?

Anyway, we pull away from her and thank her for the help while she looks all happy after a meal.

Now we need to start planning on where to build the factory for the modular shields...

>Eopolis would be 'easey' in many ways since we would quickly get the permit and there's plenty of workers available.

Rather than building the factory in the cities our family and loved ones live at, let's build it in an isolated island.

But not so isolated that we can't get workers and materials from relatively nearby.

Like this, in case of [ERROR] attack, we can still rest easy knowing that civilians will be safe.

Having decided on that, we head back home with our beloved redhead and cute imoutos.

Actually, we head towards the back garden of our home, since we need to talk with our resident pet queen.

Even though her sphere of influence now extends to three continents, she still rules from the greenhouse in our backyard.

She has a pretty hands off approach, actually.

I think.

The greenhouse is nearly bursting with flowers so its a bit hard to move without damaging them (for someone of our size anyway). As we approach the main hive, we notice how they have expanded their 'castle' so that it is the size of the entire back wall on the greenhouse.

For some reason, it is white.

A white palace full of faeries in a fantasy world. It reminds us of a certain company's logo...

Well, looks like we got 2 people at least so let's continue, I think?

***

Two tiny (and honestly really cute) faeriy guards greet us when we arrive at the castle doors.
Well, the castle reaches from the floor to the roof now, so in relaitve terms, it is as big as a building with 20+ floors, which is rather impressive.

You do have to remember though, it is built with pretty good materials, so 20 floors means 2 floors for us, so its not subject to the same structural limitations.

A insect, an elephant and a dinosaur have very different structures, based on their size and weight.

It still looks like a faerty tale palace, though...
...i wonder if I can get them to make one for my imoutos to use as a doll's house?

"Ah, good evening, I'd like to talk to her majesty, could you announce me, please?"

The faeries look at us for a bit, then nod, and one of them goes into the castle.

Uhmm... they can't talk? well, I remember so far only Miel and Miel II have ever spoken to us, actually.

"Uhmm... aroo- ...erh... excuse me... can you... uhmm this is hard to ask. Can you talk?"

The faery blinks blinks and looks at us with a complicated expression, then starts talking as a matter of fact.

Well, its mouth is moving, but we can't hear its voice.

Is it because it is so small? but, we could hear Miel and Miel II, even if their voices are small.

It's really talking, right? the little faery's mouth is moving. Looking at her mouth carefully, she is really enunciating her words. Her tongue is moving, so she's not just pretending to mess with us.

Is it ultrasonic? is the sound frequency outside of our hearing range? bees speak with peromones and motion, right? what about faeries? what about honey faeries?

"Ah, excuse me, I can't hear you..."

The little faery sighs, and seems to have given up.

Well, it was cute, so it's okay..oh! it is trying by placing her hands next to her mouth while its spear is laying against the wall.

What a honest faery, she's making a real effort, uh?

"..." -but, there's no sound

It somehow feels as if we should be able to hear it...

"Ah... big brother, what are you doing? why is that faery screaming so much? it's going to disturb the neighbors, you know?" -says Zoe as she peeks into the greenhouse from outside the door.

Ah, Zoe can hear her? well, she has kitty ears, so maybe its about sound frequency or wavelenght?

"Zoe? you can hear her?"
"Of course I can, I heard the screaming from the kitchen so I came to see what was wrong, you know?" -she looks at us with a curious expression

"Yes, yes, please excuse my big brother" -she says to the faery

"Big brother, dinner will be really soon, so hurry up alright?" -says Zoe, who is wearing a small white apron over her school uniform.

Yup, opur kitty sister looks quite adorable. Ah, she took off her thigh-high stockings and shoes, and is wearing sandals.

This is not an anime or a manga, why are you wearing sandals around the house? ...well, it looks cute, so it's okay. If she also was wearing a handkerchief around her head to keep her hair out of the way, she would look like a young wife.

...that mental image is adorable. A young kitty wife Zoe, uh?

"Hnnn... Brother is silly... hurry up, alright?"
"Yes, yes"

Is she angry?
Let's apologize later over whatever it is we did.

The guard sees Zoe go away, then sighs and says something to us.
We can't hear it, but why do we have this feeling that we were just looked down upon, somehow?

Looking at her lips... d-u-m-m-

Oh, just as we were making a serious effort, Miel comes out.

"What are you doing?" -she asks the guard, and the guard stiffens up, then seems to be apologizing to Miel, and explaining something...

Ah, Miel let out a sigh.

Uhmm... let me think... do you want to use current steel tech, or upgrade to glassteel?

If it is with current tech, I think it would take 6 months.
If you want to use glassteel for the skeleton/structure, I would say 14 months since we need to build alchemical furnaces first, and thats assuming we just copy the ones we have in Mantequira without waiting for research and development on it.
If you just want a greenhouse of glassteel on top, I would say 10 months
>>
>>76615
Do we have the time to wait?
When is the demon invasion scheduled to happen?
>>
I was gonna have miel say you need to be a virgin but then how can she hear them, right?

>>76696
There will be a invasion on the jade islands in 8 1/2 months and then one in eopolis in 6 months after that, then one in the frozen north 4 months after that, then one in 2 months, then it will begin to happen pretty much constantly
>>
>>76728
We should probably go for speed rat herb magnificence.
Maybe have the capital hive ship have a glasteel greenhouse, and the rest be regular.
We can have to get Hegemony diplomatic teams go to the island tribes and negotiate for them to accept protectorate status from the Hegemony.
Then whe. The ships are done we can evacuate islands via teleport platforms brought in via Treestride.
>>
>>76728
We only have a year before Heliopolis needs to be ready for an invasion and maybe evacuation. I don't think we can afford much SoL anymore.
Every waking moment will have to be weighed between getting workers mobilized and leveling ourselves in the depths of the Lightbringer Keep.

Maybe Tapac can tell us of XP bonus equipment or high XP areas we can grind.
>>
>>77008
Well, even if we agree, and say we are going to spend every moment preparing, you dont realistically do that.

For example, once we get the land for the factory, some time will pass before it is working, then some time will pass before the shields are up, then some time will pass until the invasion.

Even if we say we get the soldiers to train daily, we wont see results for a while.

If we fast forward a fair bit, we can have a more exciting time by just watching the spots where action happens, but its not very realistic, I think.
>>
>>77248
Okay, yeah, we can't really apportion every single moment, but I think it should be how Eldric should be acting once it hits him at his birthday that shit, he has 6 months to evacuate and defend the Jade Islands, and a year and two months before he has to somehow defend all of Heliopolis and its surrounding areas from a full-blown demon invasion.
And there's going to be constant attacks after a year and a half.

And the defenses and weapons needed, as well as the mustered soldiers, aren't ready yet.

well, Ren has been informing the jade island natives about the evacuation for months now. They should be ready to flee at a moment's notice, plus the invasion is going to be on the largest island so they have begun preparing to evacuate that one.

Is the island with the largest city, the one where we took Mako out on a date once

Oh, and we still need to invade Alquia.
When are we going to be able to do that?

Could we request General Li lend us a unit of Imperial Guard with full Glassteel armor and weapons, and get an Imperial Decree from Ren making Eldric the military governor of the colonies and making Mako the local Imperial branch matriarch?

That's pretty much the idea.

I just thought, wouldnt glassteel make for a great material for submarines, since it is transparent?

I don't think so, since the engine, weapons, and the people are still visible.

Though, if the propulsion were to be hidden somehow, and all of the crew had a means of breathing underwater and had a Job skill that let them become invisible or hidden, it might work.

I was thinking in terms of windows. Having sections of the hull painted would make them opaque, and the ones without paint would be clear.

It has to be more structurally solid than a sub with windows, no matter how thick the crystals.

I suppose.
But the distance you can see underwater is pretty limited, and sonar is a far better way to see underwater than with just eyes.
At least with the distances involved.

Yes, and yet we still include windows in pretty much all civilian subs. I am sure that if we had transparent steel, we would also include them in military subs.

Also I like these silly designs

Im sure Okaba would come up with something looking like a flying fish or maybe a goldfish. Something with BIG fins/wings
>>

Well without the advanced mechanical engineering and measuring/construction tools needed to create ballast tanks, I suppose fins would be the better way to control depth.

So when we take control of Alquia, do we get their Shadows?

Mako will get their shadows, and her/our children too
