Welcome, space warriors, to the sixty-first installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest! As always, I'm Wong, your host, and you are Admiral Roarke Susan Starwind of the Iron Kestrels, perpetual thorn in the side of important people across the galaxy.

Last time, you bought Clemmy a pet, learned the truth about your father and Operation Orange Pekoe, then were forced into a life or death battle that left your face torn open alongside the right cheekbone. You've received first aid, but it's still pretty ugly.

Thank God captcha finally worked after a literal half hour of alternating between "cannot connect to captcha" and "copypaste this text...but the post button won't load."

Now while I type this, someone explain this silly argument going on in the other thread about cross-linking.
>>
>>648883
The rules about melee cross links are silly and contradictory.
>>
SPECIFICALLY Brazilanon had better goddamn explain why he thinks Hands get the free ability to choose their second target if they're interservo linked but not cross-linked beause that's a big claim to make. I need a page number citation, because even though I'm about 99% sure he's wrong, if he's right I have to redo the Kaiser.

Wong is pretty damned sure hands and claws don't get anything special and that Brazil is reading something wrong.

>>

That's from the corebook, Advanced Technical Manual has the rules for melee weapon links.
>>
>>648855
I know this feel.
>>
>>648974

If you have an interservo melee linked but not crosslinked pair of weapons, the first attack is called and the second attack is random. If they're crosslinked, they both hit the same place.

Let's say the S-Flowerhorn, which has an interservo melee crosslink, hits an enemy mech in the head. All four of her crosslinked beam sabers would hit it in the head. If they weren't crosslinked, only the first would hit it in the head and the other three would roll randomly for location.

If you have a regular (non interservo) melee weapon link, the same rules apply only Wong gets a headache if you don't crosslink them because the idea of having a pair of claws or something and one hitting the head while the other hits the right foot on the same attack is dumb.

You aren't in immediate danger of bleeding out and the Undefeated numbed the wound with some clear gel, but you still have a massive, throbbing headache on your way back to the ship.

It doesn't help that Karen is the first of your women to see you. She's got an arm full of brightly colored plastic piping suitable for a hamster's habitat. It's not the stuff you bought, it looks like she cast it from resin using her own tools in the mechbay. She shrieks and drops it, "Roarke! Oh no oh no, what happened!? Alice WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" She bristles, her hands clenching into fists.

"It wasn't me!" Clemmy protests, hiding behind you.

"I got in a fight, that's part of my training." You smile, reach into your pocket, and pull out the damaged shades, "Guess what saved me?"

Karen blushes, "I-I'm pleased, but still, you shouldn't be so reckless! I know you want to be strong, but strong or weak, you're precious to me and it tears me up seeing you hurt." She kisses your uninjured cheek, "I'll go get grandpa. He'll fix you up."

She leads you to her grandfather's infirmary. It's a lot larger, now, with better facilities and a larger staff of nurses. The two women firmly push you down into a chair, and exit, returning shortly with Cornelius Cohen, who sets to work immediately. Thankfully, he reassures you that medical technology has advanced enough that you won't have a scar from this. The procedure is quick, painless, and over quickly, but he encourages you to rest until the painkillers aren't making your legs wobbly. You protest that you're a grown man and tougher than a bucket of nails, but he ignores you with practiced ease.

"Hey Doc." You ask, while he's cleaning off his tools, "What do you know about something called the Megabass?"

The old man pauses, then with exaggerated casualness shrugs, "Oh, I'm too old to care about Bahamutcorp and Bucephalus' internal politics. At my age, I just want to see my crew and my granddaughter happy."

"I don't think she would be very happy if she knew you were calling her a liar. She told me an interesting story about this Mobile Army Weapon...thing. And it's funny how you jumped straight to the corporations, someone who really didn't know anything might have thought I was talking about fishing." You note.

Cornelius gives you a look like a disapproving raisin over one shoulder, his wrinkles seeming to become even deeper, "Why do you want that monstrous thing? Roarke Starwind, Jeremy didn't train the kind of man that would destroy a planet. Better to let it sink into obscurity, there are some depths even I won't sink to in the pursuit of science."

"So you weren't just telling her bedtime stories. I don't want a nuclear platform, I just want to be able to do what the Anseis did. Just like with this..." You almost reach up to touch the place where your cut was before you think better of it, "I got lucky. I can't always count on luck, and I've got too much to lose not to make the Kaiser as powerful as I can."

He sighs heavily, "Very well. You're familiar with Floyd Beck and the Colts system, yes? Don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question, of course you are." He rubs the loose skin of his forehead, "In the early days of the War, at least early by the standards of the Solar System, after the HMIS was perfected, Bucephalus Heavy Industries had a virtual monopoly on mecha production and Bahamutcorp was a handful of bright young men working out of a few run-down garages on Europa. However, by the end things had turned around. Bucephalus was reeling from its losses, including Floyd Beck and the system he had designed himself, while Bahamutcorp was flush with capital and producing starships along with several promising lines of mecha. The decision was made at the upper levels of Bucephalus...without consulting any of US, I might add...to slash the budget on the R&D division and focus on lines that were guaranteed to be profitable. Certain executives were stupid enough to believe that the demand for war machines would drop drastically, and they sunk credits into things like the Budweiser construction mech and the Shetland. Bahamutcorp wasn't so foolish."

"Guys, check the example in the advanced manual, page 14.

The rapier uses 3CP only to Cross-link weapons in an intersevo link, it doesn't pay 2 to cross link and 3 to intersevo, it just pays the 3CP from the intersevo link.

Meanwhile, when it links WEAPONS INSIDE THE SAME SERVO it pays the normal link cost(2 for long-ranged weapons and 4 to melee).

As the example goes, the Rapier pays 4 CP for each "Triple weapon crosslink" inside each arm ,plus 3CP to interservo.

So, by logic, things should go this way:

4CP to Melee link inside the same servo, 3CP if they are only linked, but not cross linked.

3CP To Cross-link anything interservo, 2CP if only linked but not cross-linked.

2CP to Cross-Link long range weapons inside the same servo, 1CP if only linked but not cross-linked.

Linked= Attack in the same action and with the same roll, but rolls for locations independently.

Cross-Linked=Attacks with the same action and roll, and target the same servo as the first attack."

This is what page 14 implies, forget the "Hands are imune thing" if that apllies for hands, it should apply to every other weapon, rending cross-linked melee useless...

So... I must deduce that if not cross linked, melee weapons rolls in the location table... Or the second one does, as it was implied by some anon before me.
>>
>>649365

Are the Rapier's weapons ranged or melee?
>>
>>649365
Came back to note that the Rapier conveniently side-steps the melee weapon issue by mounting Beam Weapons, which are guns.
>>
>>649387
Beam, and they are Cross-linked, but the interservo effect doesn't change when applied to melee weapons... So, by my calculations,Cross-linked Fists should cost 3CP. Not 4,Not 7, but 3.

As interservo apllies to ANY type of system.

If not, please send me the page, i will have to change things too >.<
>>
>>649429
so wait, you are using a example that is set for a ranged weapon and saying it to apply for melee when everyone has stated otherwise?
>>
>>649365

Alright, I looked it up. It costs 7 CP (3 for interservo linkage, 4 for melee cross-link) to cross-link two melee weapons on different servos. The Strike Rapier has three beam guns per arm, and while the arms themselves are not INTERSERVO linked for some reason the three per arm are linked to each other. That's a pair of Cross-Links (2 CP each) per arm, for a total of 4 CP per arm and 8 CP total.

I don't see how you interpret any of this as cross-linked melee weapons being useless, and all logic implies that regular linked melee weapons would only have the first get free called shot and the second would have to roll randomly.
>>
>>649363
The Bahamut Corp logo looks like a whale going "later homo"
>>
>>649429

You're wrong. 4 for the melee cross link plus 3 for the fact that they're interservo linked.

Oh, and then the Strike Rapier pays the additional 3 for the interservo link that lets both of its trigun batteries fire at once. So yes, that proves that it's additive. Your mistake seems to be missing that melee weapon linking is more expensive and that the Strike Rapier is using beam GUNS, not beam SWORDS.
>>
>>649481
>screw you guys, I'm going home
>>
>>649481
Would make sense. Their entire rise to glory is one part shady and two parts their major competitor continuing to fuck up.
>>
>>649486
Ok... I didn't know for the melee calling shots before some anon pointed it in another Thread, my fault in that.

I do know that melee is more expensive, what i 'm pointing is this:

When linking the Beam gun to the other Beam gun in the other arm, the Rapier pays ONLY 3CP for the interservo-cross link, Not 5CP(Interservo Cross-link + Normal cross-link between weapons).

So, if he had only one weapon in each arm, he would pay just the interservo, no? proving it is not additive, no?

Sorry if am annoing you, it was not my intent.

>>
>>649594

"Even after a bitter marketing campaign to convince the public that their designs were safer, the Europan company still had an interest in the Colts and believed correctly that the UJCIDF would be used to bring extrasolar planets back into the fold. Now, there are all sorts of unsubstantiated rumors about certain disgruntled former Bucephalus employees who were unjustly fired over the failures of the Thoroughbred MP and Arabian lines leaking confidential information to Bahamutcorp...but those are just rumors, and not any reason to be suspicious about the culpability about certain rogue Bucephalus technicians who found out the hard way that raising a grandchild alone is expensive." He sighs again, "At any rate, Bahamutcorp established a facility, now believed abandoned, in the vicinity of the asteroid 16-Psyche, an ugly ball of iron believed to be the naked core of some unfortunate protoplanet. Now, I'm well and truly out of the loop at my age, but from the rumors I've heard Bahamut wanted to finish off Bucephalus entirely and ensure their primacy as long as Jupiter remains, so they set to work developing the largest, most impressive machine they could. It worked, partially. It took endless failures and many, many millions of credits paid to the families of test pilots whose brains burned out trying to manage the system, but the basic concept was proven solid. The stated goal of creating a single-pilot system that could replace an entire planetary bombardment force was, in my opinion, unsuccessful because it would require a truly special brain to manage all of the parts, a genuine superpilot. Still, since you aren't trying to command a fleet of fighter-sized nuclear missile platforms controlled by one gigantic mech, you should be alright." He concludes.

You pause to consider this, then something hits you, "Hey, no, wait a minute. If all of this is true, why haven't we seen some fish-named knockoff of the Colts on Bahamutcorp mecha?"

He shrugs, "Because they wanted as little publicity as possible focused on the things they had to do to achieve it. From what I've heard the project was shelved, I doubt they actually constructed the Megabass. And because it's very expensive, mass-producing it for regular line units wouldn't be practical and at the time building customized ace mecha as distinct and costly as a SOUL mech just wasn't done, aces normally flew slightly upgraded versions of regular mecha."

You get out your PC, "Cornelius, we're going to 16-Psyche, is there anything I should know about the facility?"

He shrugs, "Probably, but I've never been there."

You prepare to contact Miles.

>>
>>649637

Break in the new guys and all that. Also maybe mention that our captive paladin has fought a megabass to Cornelius.
>>
>>649644
yeah, learned that afterward... at least I didn't put it on the lathe in the basement like I briefly considered doing...
>>
>>649616
Yeah they say that...
Weapon 2 is linked to One
Weapon three is linked to One
Weapon One is Called the "Control beam Gun"
Each link costs 2(Cross Link) and each arm has the same layout.
(It is also implying that, if the Control Beam gun is destroyed, the other two weapons are not cross-linked between themselfs, what would make them shot independently)
SO, Rapier buys the interservo to link One controlling beam gun to another, making one of them the TRUE controlling one, as to say, one of them if used, fire 6 Shots, the other would shot only its arm guns, so 3 Shots.

So, the interservo cross-linked them without the necessity to pay 2CP extra for it, paying only 3CP that way.

What you are suggesting is that you need to add +3CP to Interservo Cross-links, and then pay the normal price (4CP for Melee weapons and 2CP for Guns) to really make them Cross-linked, while the Rapier examples dictates that you only need to pay the interservo, not adicional Cross-Linking systems. If you needed to pay additional CP the total cost of the links would be 4+4+3+2=13CP, And would resulting in the Rapier paying 52,6CP for the whole shenanigan, not 50,6 as the book says.

>>649637
Seconded
>>
>>649721

I feel like there's some language barrier here or something getting in the way, I'm not suggesting anything, I'm flat-out stating that the book says the cost is additive. "An additional 3 CP".

Fix it in your mecha, please.
>>
>>649721

Also I have no idea what you mean by "really make them cross linked". 3 CP is how much it costs to interservo cross-link two ranged weapons or sets of weapons on either servo. For a non-crossed interservo link it costs 2 CP.
>>
The Gold-Tail, now with hands!

http://pastebin.com/n05PF3QG

Is the weight of handheld weapons supposed to be factored in to the Thrusters?
>>
The six beam guns (at 6.6 CP each) cost 39.6 all together before any linking is done.

Then, each of the two non-controlling guns cost 2 CP to link to the controlling gun on that arm. That's four guns being linked to their respective controller, for a total of 8 CP. 8+39.6=47.6

Then an additional 3 CP, to interservo cross-link the two arms' weapon arrays together. 3+47.6=50.6

Now, where I may have been wrong is in my addition, it looks like the links might actually be multiplicative (melee weapons just cost double to link and otherwise function normally).

There we go. Everything is settled. Now hopefully my headache will subside and we can get back to the damned game.
>>
But regardless the original claim that melee weapons just get to hit wherever they please and there's no point to crosslinking them is bullshit. If they're not crosslinked, the noncontrolling weapon hits a random location.

6 CP for interservo melee weapon cross-linking. I was wrong on that particular point and am now editing the pastebin fixing stuff...which actually puts me in a good mood, because it gives me ideas for upgrading the waifu mechs.

Samantha's is actually a horribly monstrous beast. Her pilebunkers, with the damage bonus from her Heavy Striker arms, are a whopping 7K of Shock, and Shock gets better the more damage you do. The S-Betta uses a Heavy Striker frame that, bizarrely, isn't based at all on the Warmouth...now I wonder what other Bahamutcorp Heavy Strikers there are that we know of?

"Miles." You call out once she picks up her PC.

You hear the sound of food rustling around the clink of bottles, "Yeah Dude? What's up?" Your First Mate's voice reaches your ears.

"Where's Loriette? Contact Flint and Beckingham, we're preparing for launch. I need to know everything there is to know about the asteroid 16-Psyche, because we're going to go ransack a military facility there." You instruct her.

She makes a sound somewhere between a sigh and a grunt, "C'mon Dude, I was making lunch...ooh, are these kebabs? Yum, these'll go down nice with some beer. If it's a military facility, it's gonna be classified. Remember we needed Sammy to get us to Suleiman, I didn't know jack about the place until she slipped me that file. She's a sneak, but I like her." The irony of Miles Longshadow calling anyone else a sneak is apparently lost on her.

"Well, if that's everything you need from me, I'll just be going..." Cornelius starts to shuffle away.

"Hold up Miles. Hey, Cornelius, I hate to disappoint you, but the Megabass is real. I'd been wondering where I heard the name before, and now I remember. Loriette told me she survived fighting it, it's piloted by some Jovian general." You call out after him.

He turns and looks at you, and for once, you can see profound worry behind the thick lenses of his spectacles, "Then this really is a war, and things really are as bad as they seem. Oh dear. Well, I'll just have to hope I live to see the end of it. War may be good for people in our profession, Roarke, but I don't relish the cost in human life. If it ends, maybe I'll get to see my great-grandchildren grow up." He smiles, the smile of a sad old man enjoying a sunspot of happiness, and shuffles away.

You shake your head. On the one hand, this conflict is probably keeping Fairchild from throwing a few Wels-classes at Auditorium. On the other hand, you're worried about it spilling even further into the Solar System. You talk into your PC again, "So, where is Loriette?"

"Eh? Who?" Miles scratches her head, you can hear it over the line.

"The Countess." You clarify.

"Oh, her! Why are you on a first-name basis with her? Oh, right, because she's cute. Hon hon hon le dirty peasant boy sacre bleu baguette and all that. She said she was leaving later today. To Karen, not me. Funny thing, that, for some reason she doesn't seem to like me at all!" She sounds mildly indignant.

"It's probably a matter of clashing personalities, you can be a little abrasive." You note, leaving the room.

"Abrasive!? You asshole, I'm not fucking abrasive at all, my personality's as smooth as...as these pudding cups. Who left these in here? Maya? They look homemade." Miles sounds more indignant than ever.

"Mm. Those wouldn't happen to be Fatima's kebabs, would they?" You ask.

There's silence over the line.

"She's not a prisoner anymore, there's nothing stopping her from hitting you, including me." You note.

"Lemme see if there's a note." You hear the sound of foodstuffs rustling around, "If they're Moe's I'm eatin' 'em. Shooky's a nice girl but she'll make him as fat as Avi if she keeps stuffing him full of chow, I'm doing the kid a favor. A-hum, here we go, 'Roarke's Dinner for Tonight -F'."

Now it's your turn to be dead silent. You're a little touched, your Martian betrothed clearly enjoys spoiling you.

You hear the sound of someone taking a bite over the line. Munch. Munch. Munch.

"That's it, you're going back in the vents." You promise her, setting off for the Rhinehawk's bar at a run.

You hear the sound of someone hurriedly shoving something back into the fridge, the door slamming, and tiny feet running away before your First Mate hangs up.

You charge down the hallway, and directly into Fatima, barely catching her before the pair of you tumble into the floor. Your momentum still pushes her back against the wall, and you right up against her. She looks into your eyes, blushing, and puts her arms around you, "Roarke! This isn't proper, not here..." She might be haughty to everyone else, but you only see warmth and concern in her eyes as she looks you over, "Karen told me you were hurt. She says her grandfather forbade anyone from pestering you while you were being treated, but obviously such exclusions do not apply to me." You're fairly sure she's joking, "My poor wolf, another fight?" She shakes her head, "You remind me of a tomcat one of the servants on my father's estate adopted. A big, evil-eyed creature, a ferocious ratter but incredibly loving to humans. Yet every night it would go out to scrap with the other cats, and come home with its ears tattered and scars on its proud brow. Did you at least win?" She asks, stroking your hair.

You give her a cheerful grin, "You know I did. I always do. I'm invincible, remember?"

She tuts, smiles, and pecks your lips, "I shouldn't have said 'not here', I am quite comfortable being held by you. Does it hurt?"

You shake your head, "The skin is a little tight, but Cornelius said it should go back to normal in a few hours."

She smiles radiantly, "Good. I am going to go have tea with my four new sisters. I think having all of us sit down together, talk out our problems, and gossip is healthy, certainly better than waging a years-long passive-aggressive war over your affections because of some incident in a bar. I'm sure we can all get along if we try, we all have enough in common...including the fact that I will scold them if they cause trouble for you. Miss Colburn is coming as well, she's pleasant company and wants to ask us a few questions. JNN owns a women's periodical and apparently one of her coworkers wants to know some rather personal things about you for her articles." Her dark eyes dance with mischief, "I cannot lie, I am interested in hearing what the other girls have to say." She frowns suddenly, "Ah, so that's what was so different. Your sunglasses, where are they?"

"They perished valiantly saving my life." You explain, completely truthfully.

She chuckles, "How noble. I'm sure Karen will fix them, she can be crude sometimes and has an oddly feral cast to her personality...but she has a big heart. The modifications she and the good Doctor Clancy are planning for my Tarrasque take my breath away!" She squeezes you tight, then releases you, "Work hard, my brave prince, I have something special for dinner tonight." She winks, adjusting her headscarf and practically skipping away down the hall, stopping occasionally to look back at you with a smile.

You don't tell her about Miles taking a bite out of one of her kebabs, you don't need to spoil her good mood.

Well, probably with some respect about the same as Fatima when we captured her(well, once she stopped biting and the like). See how she's holding up, if she has any questions, and just general consideration. If fatima is coming or not, show consideration to her as well.

Got a feeling Lori's main issue is culture confusion since Fatima and Miles teamed up on her and no one did anything.

Say Wong, how's is Caesar reacting to the news about Roarke taking down a paladin, and the about his buddy Amos doing the same in one shot?
>>
That colony isn't going anywhere. Launching in the morning should be fine. Dinner isn't for some time, either, so you're in no rush. You stop by the hydroponics lab and pick up a bouqet of flowers, on impulse.

You knock on the door of the room Loriette has been using, the bouqet held behind your back out of sight.

"Oui?" She opens it, a hairbrush in her hand. Her room is simple, unadorned, as expected of a guest room. From the things laid out on the makeup table along one wall, it looks like she was maintaining her drills, "Ah! Rowarc...you came to see me off. I was worried I had insulted you in some way." She blushes, looking down at her feet, "I shall not trouble you, I can be the good little prisoner on my own ship. You must be tired of dealing with me, non?" She looks up at you with eyes as golden as a lioness', soft as spring sunlight.

You smile, and show her the flowers.

She gasps, her hands covering her mouth, "Oh! Oh...what is this? R-Rowarc...I do not understand..." She practically squirms in place.

"Are the customs different on Avalon? Here, it is normal for a gentleman to bring a lady flowers before asking her to accompany him on a walk through town. Training was more strict than usual, so I've been busy, but I'm free for a while now so..." You smile at her, giving her the flowers.

"Oui! I mean, of course you would be lovely." She sniffs the blossoms, her cheeks scarlet and her eyes sparkling, "Er, I-I mean that would be lovely! The exercise would be most pleasant, non? I hear from Miss Karin, ze daughter of your mentor, that upon le colony there is a grand lake, can we swim in it? Please, mon duckling? I love to swim almost as much as I love to dance, and I have not had the chance in so long..." She bats her eyelashes at you.

You gently tug one of her drills, letting go and watching it spring back into place, "Oui, of course. After all, an expensive escort service like mine should have luxuries befitting noble blood, non?"

Her cheeks redden even more, "You are a tease, surely I must be a burden and yet you treat me warmly."

You shake your head, "I could never get sick of looking at someone so beautiful, inside and out."

She squeaks incoherently and hides her face behind the flowers, "Rowarc! I...I...ma déesse~ I-I must refresh myself. Three minutes! Non, two! Then I am yours!" She spins gracefully, pulling the door shut. You smile as you catch a series of delighted squeals that she probably thinks you can't hear.

>>
>>650995
Well, I think the Paladins in general may have been preserved so to speak. Sure they are kept youthful, but the way they act seems oddly youthful for their ages. The Duke acted more like a bright eyed young man than someone who was around the end of the war, Maria certainly seemed less world traveled than she claimed, and Lori also seems pretty innocent.

I don't know if that makes them less horrifying or more horrifying.
>>
>>651020
Simple. We find any reason to take umbridge with our nemesis and let Lori go. She can go back to her people or stay with us. So far the avalonians haven't overstepped their bounds, they most likely won't attack us. We don't even have to take their money, since people can use it against us. It wouldn't be hard to piss Fairchild off anyways. Pirates live off screwing the system.

If there's one thing you've learned, it's that even aces are human. She emerges shortly, resplendent in a blue gown with white ruffles and floppy blue bows in her hair. She hugs your arm and follows you to the mechbay, then to a shuttle.

"You will not tell the countess of this fief that I mistook her likeness upon the colony hull for a lady of the evening, non? Miss Karin was kind enough to correct me, although...it is the strangest thing, when first she heard it she broke down into the gales of merriment, such laughter that she was in tears! However, she was quite firm that I must never tell le Harpy Crimson of my mistake, and I agree most fully, it is shameful for one of my rank." She nods, as if repeating sage advice.

"Red Siren. A Harpy is a type of mech." You point at one of Red Siren's patrol harpies as the shuttle descends, putting your arm around Loriette to do so, "That one there, do you see?"

"Oui? It is not the Saracen Scimitar? It is so small, and has le shape..." She gestures with her hands, outlining the frame of a jet.

You shake your head, "Those are slightly bigger, and the Harpy transforms. See those bulges underneath? They fold out into legs, and those, there, are the arms..." You point them out and she nods as if committing it to memory.

"Such tiny striders, like le petit puppies. Tres charming." She leans against you unsubtly, "Rowarc, am I truly beautiful to you? Ah, it is a question selfish and improper, please ignore..." She twirls one of her drills around a fingertip.

"Yes, absolutely." You answer without hesitation.

She gives you a warm, guileless smile, "So are you. So indeed are you. It is no wonder so many love you." She rests her head on your shoulder, "Oh, and if I may...the Saracen woman, if she is of noble blood, am I permitted to duel her without your word? Where I come from, it is most impolite to chide another noble's retinue and servants, but Miss Karin insists that the Saracen is of the blood noble."

there are many ways to end the auction with little issue. 1; If Fairchild does something dirty it will sour negotiations because she can't be trusted to tell the truth. 2. Negotiating a deal that indirectly helps the other two. (i.e. Cease fires, withdrawal from the solar system, ect) 3. Something that Fairchild simply can't voice a complaint about. If they outbid her, if she can't bid, if her offer is subpar or she rejects an offer.

Make it so she can't spin the story and she will lose. 1 month cease fire buying Jovian forces time to recover, repair, and send their wounded and tired back home would be a great pr tool and gives their R&D team time to perfect some new machines.

"If you must, but do you really have to?" You shake your head, "Her name is Fatima, not 'Saracen', and she is very dear to me. In fact, I was on Mars rescuing her from the honorless dog she was engaged to marry when I met you, why do you want to fight with her?"

She makes a face, "You misunderstand, mon duckling. She has insulted me, yes, but I do not hold that against her, I am an enemy and have killed Martians on the field, perhaps even people she knew. I am a Paladin of Avalon, it is my duty. This is simply how it is, oui?" She sighs and shakes her head, "If we duel, perhaps it will ease our grudge. Her people are proud, brave warriors, surely we can come to understanding through the clash of striders, non?" She smiles shyly at you.

You tug on one of her ringlets again, "Try talking, first. Do it with me there, perhaps, I'll keep you both civil as best I can." And in the back of your mind you hope that Fatima behaves as sweetly as she has around you recently even with Loriette there, "If that doesn't work, have your duel, but remember that I am an honorless pirate dog who will intefere if I think either of you is about to kill the other."

She kisses your cheek, "Pirate? Oui. Honorless? Non. I did promise to pay you for an escort to safe harbor, it was my own fault for not asking the price." The shuttle lands, and the two of you get out and exit the shuttleport, the artificial sunlight gleaming off its bright roof of clear glass. You walk out into the city, where she gasps and makes excited comments about the architecture. You're a little surprised, you figured someone from such an extravagant culture would find Red Siren's facsimile of an ancient Mediterranean city somehow flawed or tawdry, but she seems quite impressed.

The two of you stop at a small parlour for ice cream. She gets some on her nose and giggles when you wipe it off, then eats it too quickly and gets brain freeze. When she recovers, she realizes that she doesn't have a swim suit and dashes into a lakeside store.

"Stay here, Rowarc, I'll be just a minute!" She promises, "Non, do not peek!"

You grumble, but obey. Inwardly, you're expecting something either very old-fashioned or very ornate and lazy. Instead, she surprises you. She emerges with her clothes in a bag provided by the shopkeeper, dressed in a smart blue, black, and bronze one-piece athletic competition swimsuit emblazoned with an illustration of a sawfish. It may not be the most provacative attire, but she fills it out splendidly, and does a little twirl for you to examine her, "Well Rowarc? Do you like it?"

You nod, staring rather shamelessly.

She blushes and puts a hand on your chest, pushing you, "Go change, mon duckling, then we shall go to the beach!" She laughs excitedly, and despite her own admonitions you hear the shopkeep distinctly tell her that she isn't allowed to peek into the changing room while you're in there. Thrice.

You walk down onto the sand, hand in hand, with the afternoon light shining on the water. The surf is cold at first, but it warms up rapidly as you sink in up to your chest. Loriette finds an unattended beach ball, and the two of you toss it back and forth, playing without reservation or care for the worries of your professional lives.

Eventually, she tucks the ball under her arm and splashes her way over to you through the waves. Her golden eyes shine like the sun as she runs her free hand over your chest, tracing the contours of your muscles. Her cheeks are flushed scarlet, and her golden eyes lowered to where her fingers meet your skin, but then she looks up at you and speaks quietly, "Non, I do not regret it. Honor or not, I do not regret being tricked. I do not regret meeting you. I do not regret our duel...and I do not regret losing to you. Had I the power of a deity, I would change nothing at all. Not even your choice to stay you rather than heed my entreaties to become yourself a Paladin." Her fingers tense slightly, the nails dragging across your skin, "To tell the truth...I have not enjoyed this war. It was my duty to fight, oui, but it is a sad thing to fight brave men and women whose striders are, and I say zis without insult, small and weak while I possess le mighty Anseis. I had hoped war would be like in le old stories, where brave knights face each other with respect and honor, and show le strength of their convictions with noble battle...but instead, I have witnessed slaughter. Even when I faced enemy officers, either they fell against me like the rest, or were a monstrous inequity like le Megabass that none can face evenly. Like a little girl, I was naive and my expectations foolish. Mon teacher, she told me that le solars fought by throwing away the lives of their people in droves, and I began to believe it. Until I met you, Rowarc." She shakes her head softly, "It was not until it was done, until I lay in bed that night, that I realized how happy I had been as we danced among the stars. You and that brutish strider you move so well, they were the one good thing I have known since the fighting began." Her smile becomes more playful, and she reaches up and pinches the tip of your nose, "Which is why I shall beat you to that island, there! Swim as fast as you can, Rowarc, don't leave me sunning on the shore too long!" She laughs, splashing water on you and diving into the waves like a fish, making her way towards a small island populated by young trees some way out from the shore.

You dive in after her. The two of you tear through the surf like mated sharks, honed and focused, skin glistening. Sometimes she pulls ahead, sometimes you do, but your hearts are pounding as you both stumble onto the island at exactly the same time.

Your eyes meet, and you both start laughing, collapsing onto the sand in the shade of the trees. She crawls over to you, and much to your surprise, pounces, her body laying halfway across yours as she wraps her arms around your shoulders and kisses you fiercely. Her lips are soft and her tongue is agile, and she kisses you over and over and over as if afraid that if you stop for even a second that she'll never get to do it again. Finally, even a Paladin can run out of breath, and she rests in your arms with her backside on your lap, her head on your shoulder.

"Rowarc, I do not want this dream to end." She closes her eyes, a pleasant shiver running through her as the cool lake breeze tickles your skins. "Mon cousin was right, I am a dishonorable, selfish woman who takes her blood and gifts too lightly...but still, I do not want this dream to end. It cannot be wrong, feeling this happy."

You shake your head, "I've never fled from happiness, but then, I'm not a Paladin either. Just me."

She grins, "Just you is more than enough my sweet and perfect duckling." She's wearing a small implement like an antique wristwatch, and it beeps at her. She taps it and activates a small holographic screen, it must be some kind of Avalonian PC. Then she frowns, "Rowarc, I cannot stay. Le repairs on mon Anseis are complete and...and I need to be there when it wakes up. Le Duc de Rothschild-Beauchamps says it is silly, but mon teacher, le Duchess Carnegie, taught me that the bond between the Paladin strider and the Paladin rider is strong, and since le Paladin is a living thing, it responds to us. Mon Anseis cannot speak or express its feelings, but...anyone would want someone there for them when they wake up from a long sleep." She smiles sadly, cupping your face in her hands and kissing you soft and slow, "Mmmm...Rowarc~"

You kiss her back, long and deep, then look into her eyes, "No matter what happens, we have a quarter of a standard year together at least."

She smiles secretively, "That...that, mon Rowarc, makes me happier than anything."

I'm very sad with the direction the world is turning to, and today in Brazil was an election day for electing the cities mayors and prefectures... deputees?I don't know what the exact translation would be.

Anyway, as things are going, what i see is SJW and socialism growing more fanatic and imbecile day by day, and the right growing with anger and extremism in awnser to that...
(What doesn't matter much because here in Brazil almost every politician is either corrupt or allied with one who are, and you choose them not based in principles or something, but basing in who will tweak things into your favor in detriment of others...)

I just want freedom of speech and to be left alone without people stealing my money in the name of the greater good man, who do we need to kill to get that?

As thing sgoes... The discussion of politic matter tend to go with both sides claiming the other is corrupt while trying to convince unalied people of their innocence, using arguments based on "I was framed by the opposition!" or "My opposition is worse than me! They favor (Someone their side claims as BAD) people while making things more difficult to (YOU)!" or even "Hey, i admit it, i do steal your money in my own benefit! But, do you know what?Everyone does it, but i at least use part of the money to do something to you guys."
And then people try to defend their favorites anyway, while most of them don't really knows half of how the government works.

If you guys want, i could tell you the bizzarre "Game of Throne-esque" saga that happened not so long ago in our government... You may have fun with it, the creators of House of Cards seems to have liked it, in fact.

In the interest of discussing things that aren't politics: have the Final version of the Valkyrie Close Assault Mech: http://pastebin.com/LkDJjdpF
As you can see, I dropped the crosslinked beam sabers for a quick two handed beam naginata, and ended up saving space and cost while improving damage. Thus proving that crosslinking beam weapons is usually a terrible idea unless you don't already have a pair of quick weapons.
Anyway, I've got two potential pilot backgrounds for her, and I wanted people's opinion on them. The First is based on Kirara/Mihoshi, who is a singing and dancing pilot idol from Gundam Build Fighters. She also pilots the Gebera Tetra, which automatically makes her good. She would be a relatively new recruit to Red Siren's Pirate Crew, who wants to make it big as an idol and a pilot. Young, bubbly and naive, but with talent.

The Second is based on Lucrezia Noin from Gundam Wing. She was a fairly serious yet simultaneously gentile military pilot and reciprocated love interest of the resident Char Clone. In this formulation, she's an old friend of Rossetta who joined the military while she went into show business. After the whole stabbing incident, she ended up resigning her commission and became her best friend's long suffering second in command. In this instance, she's joined the tournament to represent her pirate gang, and to try to ensure that the Iron Kestrels don't get ALL the good new pilots.

This is the tale of a judge who became a hero and a japanese federal police agent that went from a symbol of justice to just one more dissapointment, the tale of conspiracy between powerhungry commies and a man who went in a quest for salvation and veangence... And a tale how families tore themselfs apart because of political preferences...

From where i should begin?

I guess we got to begin with how the Workers Party got in power and build this biggest scheme of corruption documented in the world...

it was 2002 when President Lula was elected, he was this carismatic leader of the masses, that came from a difficult life as a "Mechanic something" who lost a finger in a industrial accident in the installation he worked at, with his proposals about protecting the workers and poor classes who are the majority of voters, and being unnalied with the old guard of politician who were in power since the time of the military dictatorship, he became this sort of national hero who could make everything look much better just with his oratory.

And at first, everything looked okay, and brazil grew economically under his government(in fact, by other factors non-aligned with his gestion, he got lucky with the tides of time) and he created various social programs that improved the quality of life of the poor by giving them food and all sort of help.

But you should know that this isn't exactly a happy story.

In a few years, his government was assaulted by scandal after scandal. Because, away from the eyes of the population, he and his party deviced this magnanimously scheme of corruption to be able to maintain themselfs in power, with included bribes to politicians and all sorts of private enterprises with public funding, to either have their support in their campaigns or in the lower house/senate.

Meanwhile, people obviously became muchkins using the social programs to minmax their lives in a way that they didn't need to work or pay taxes and could live at the expense of the state, creating all sorts ridiculous situations that the opposition keep pointing at.

As the time went, nobody was ever punished from any scandal, because politicians are judged by the "Supreme Tribunal of the Federation"(STF for short) that have Judges appointed by the people in power obviously... And them the economic good wave passed and people started to noticed things like lula giving hugs to this ridiculously corrupted people who he had denominated as some of the worse human beings and saying that they got better now that they were in his side.

One of them, Paulo Maluf, is this absurdly corrupt São Paulo's ex-governor and twice mayor who is actually chased by the Interpool,France, Jersey islands Police and know as a renomed example of corruption by the World Bank and ONU, a man who is so infame that has a verb in his name, "Malufar", that means "To steal government money", and was a elected by the proverb "He steals, But do something!

I didn't understand the question... but if i get it right... The popularity of Communist/Socialist ideology varies wildly depending with where you are, one good example is, excluding some more desperate communities that vote for whoever gives them something, the only big Workers Party voters base is in the North (Because of problems that goes back to my Great-Great-Grandfather time, but that's is another story) while things are more distributed in the rest of the country.

Should be interesting to see how that situation goes down. sooner or later the public will break and shit will get bloody. and i don't understand why some people say it wasn't a real socialist government.

Socialists are bad losers, when their plan inevitably goes wrong they start saying it wasn't their fault or that "THAT isn't real socialism/communism!"

A few western European countries have done some interesting work, but in general you're right, socialism is shit. For things like Climate change it would be far far better for there to be some sort of cap and trade system that lets the market figure it out, rather than the government to try to fiat it. Unfortunately, a certain policial party would rather deny overwhelming scientific evidence, so a certain president has been forced to use on the books statutes to deal with the situation sub optimally.

Not really. Russia is basically only important because of Nukes. Germany, the UK and France combined have a GDP of 9.214 Trillion. Russia has a GDP of 2.097 Trillion. The dirty little secret is that Western Europe doesn't need the USA's help to beat the shit out of the Russians

France and the UK yea but Germany would be in for some shit cause if a war did break out that would be prime time for the terrorist groups to start some shit. Not to mention that Russia would still steamroll most of Eastern Europe and avoid the Countries where they got bogged down in WWII. So they would probably avoid Finland and Poland. Sweden on the other hand...

Some of them are already doing it, and when the whole impeachment thing started some of the Worker Party's allies tried to infiltrate our frontier with troops or something... And if i remember well, the army dealt with them but it wasn't "noticed" by the midia, and i only know about it because my kung fu master is an ex-military.

In fact, the infamous "Jair Bolsonaro" made a speech about the Worker's Party tentative of an military coup justified by last-minute decrees when they knew they were going to lose... And even if most people probably didn't trust him, he was right, it is no secret that the MST(The Homeless People Movement) were armed to the the teeth by the Worker's Party's along the years, and were camped inside of the capital while all the impeachment thing was going on.

Ironically, when they losed anyway and the MST tried to block the roads in protest, the weapon thing became obvious even if the midia was still trying to hide it, and the army "just happened to pass by" and sacred them to give up for a while.

They are still the Worker's Party private troops though.
>>
>>654818

And Russia frequntly uses short term conscripts. I mean sure, they might get lucky in the short term, but then Japan got lucky in the opening rounds of WW2. How much did that help them with the USA in the end? Similar resource disparity.
>>
>>654938
Still if this situation does happen there are going to be many different war fronts opening up. China would hitting the Pacific nations and helping Russia probably and India, India and Pakistan would wrecking each other, Israel would take the opportunity to fuck up the Middle East, same with Saudi Arabia. And Eastern European nation that don't get invaded might be going full Remove Kebab mode.

The other one, Fernando Collor, was the last impeached president before Dilma... Who at this moment is an Elected Senator in the senate and was impeached because he stole this absurd quantity that people had invested in this central bank investment option... And if i remember right, a great part of the money is still gone(This guys is know by being a fan of Nicolau Maquiavelli, a thing that he said in certain occasions while giving speechs in universities... What makes some people seem him as purely evil...or just really cool.).

Anyway, Lula is still carismatic and know as someone who "still cares", and so, gets to elect his puppet, i mean, his sucessor: Dilma Rouseff.

What was very stupid for a number of reasons.

You guys probably don't know her past, but in the times of the military dictatorship, dilma was an Communist Terrorist of this group know as "COLINA"(The Hill), with commited various crimes in that time span, but had their crimes forgiven when the Anistia was decreeted by the military.

I don't know if that means something in english, but the anistia was this... "Official agreement/law" that pardoned the military agents and the terrorist of their crimes, created as a form of "cease fire resolution" for when they where in the process of getting off of the power.

Also, Dilma is kind of stupid as a rock, and can't make an coerent speech or agument without help, and even with help, she just keeps screwing up in almost half of the times she has to say something, creating all of this bizzarre memes about "Stocking wind to be an alternative to fossil energy!" and being the laughstock/Shame of the nation.

But the Worker's party doesn't seems to care, because as an ex-terrorist whe has this type of fierce loyalty that makes her the perfect pawn.

But while the Workers Party paid militants, build an enormous corruption system, and get caught every years doing something irregular, they started to lose popularity, economy was showing the first warnings that things would went downhill and the "Opposition"(Who was kind of allied to them sttil, remember that they bribed the oldguard into supporting them?) started to think "What the heck, why being in the shadows if we an just take their place?" and came up with an real try at winning in the 2014's election.

But i little before that, there were the 2013's protests that began as a outrage against the incresing prices of the state's owned bus monopoly but spiraled out of comprehension and became and outrage against almost everything... That ended in nothing but propriety damage to both public and private buildings, because the strategy of the Worker's Party was infiltrating someone in the protest and making this agent do something that would justify the intervencion of the police, who started to beat everyone up... But they aren't the CIA, and screwed up on that by getting caught in camera with the police cooperating in this tipe of operation, and, either because the protesters got REEEEEE with this, or either because the people watching the enourmous manifestations in the TV started to have hope in changing something by the powers of numbers, the PT losed even more popularity.

2014 came and it was an election year, and maybe even if PT wasn't expecting for this, it was an years of plot twists, with the best of them being the suspicious death of an famous politician by his plane falling down from the sky and the inner recordings never being found, what sujested that it was an assasination attempt even if one said that openly... That made the candidate he was allied with get an absurd popularity as her used his grieving family to get to the hearts of the nation...But Marina da Silva was never good at HARD politics, and by changing her allies too much and contradicting herself on what she planned to do, she lost popularity anyway.

The second battle was this fierce dispute between Dilma and Aecio Neves.

Who is this guy? You may ask, he is this important political figure in one of the 3 Biggest player's parties of this story, and was the candidate in the name of the PSDB.

His Grandfather was "Tancredo Neves" the man who were to be the first president after the military dictatorship, a man who was part of the political movements of the time and who was an hero of the opposition party but who never lived to became a villain. If he was to be president, maybe things would have taken another turn... but he died of cancer a few days before getting to assume the presidency, a cancer that he was trying to hide all the way until he got elected, and was sucessfull of doing so, and when this guy died...his vice "José Sarney"(Who was an old ally of the military regime, and was the type of coward without honor who would jump to the more lucrative side... And one day would be know as "The Feudal Sire of the Maranhão Dominion" by people butthurt with the power of his descendants) got in power.

So...Aecio made his fame in the steed of his grandfather corpse, and was groomed to be what his grandfather was to be... but somewhere along the way of being this economically liberal and humanly conservative ideal, he got offtrack, got addicted to cocaine, got a pleasure for beating his wife(maybe, i don't lie with him, bro), and just got the influence game, becoming one of the worst governors that "Minas Gerais" had... But with only one state hating him, he gave dilma a run for her money, becoming "the alternative to something better after 12 years of the Workers Party being in power" being popular with the young and with bussinessman of all walks of trade.

So when things got to the second turn,it was "Chosen One" versus "Not!Lula disguised as a woman", and Dilma won by an debatable 1%(The workers party may have cheated the system, but it was never proved), regardless it looked like that it would be 16 years of PT...

But that was when plot twist happened and Judge Moro appeared.

(In the image Aecio Neve and his grandfather, in the subtitles "Tacredo ended an dictatorship and Aécio will end another")

Before an continuation, let me make this small explanations about the third big player in this and maybe some small parties.

the PT(Workers Party) as a few allied parties that are smaller socialist parties that differ little between themselfs, with the biggest and more noticeble one being the PSOL who is the ultimate SJW party that try to win everything by claiming that they are being opressed, and just run away and refuse to talk when are cornered to an logical battle.

And theres this "Cross and Bullet" faction that comprises some small parties that looks like the american republican party... But alone they aren't much powerfull either.

The more powerfull player of all times, and the true maquiavellian winner of almost everything is the PMDB(The Brazilian Democratic Movement Party) who gives another new meaning to democracy. These guys are the most corrupt of them all, they are the naturally selected politicians, that doesn't have any inibitions left and live by contradicting themselfs in what they say and do... They are the most numerous party in either the lower house and in the senate, and work as political mercenaries to whoever gives the party more power.
This guys started as a reminicense of the political puppets of the military, but keep recruting people who were able to play to win, and changing retired politicians for descendants of them who would carry their name, giving birth to this epic party of profissionals of democracy and backstabbers.

The thing is... it is almost impossible to govern without their help, and they expect you to play their game if you want to be able to do anything... And they are expensive.

Ah,remember sarney from last post?He is one of the oldest from them, and now his sons and grandsons continue his legacy, while we tries to keep the influnce of their family in the Maranhão(where they are the owners of almost everything that is local, and were in power for 50 years until 2014).

So at this point you guys probably already know whats happening between the curtains of the spectable.

PT wanted to govern and do as they pleased, when they get to power PDMB came and went "if you try to go against us we all will lose something, then play our game and change things but make everything still the same", and PT loosed any respect they had to the law(which was probably none already as they are commies) and learned the good life of eternal partying at the costs of the common people, and thats why Lula was giving hugs to Collor, Sarney and Maluf and treating them as friends.

As par of the course, the PMDB demanded monetary compensation, ministeries, positions in the government to those of them who didn't get elected, the continuation of the scheme to bribe companies that they had rolling since the military dictatorship e etc... And to compensate for losing those things to their "Friends" the commies started to slowy expand the government to control more things, for them to be able to steal more and get more jobs for their allies, which led to the biggest ever knew of scheme of corruption in the world.

But then... the winds changed, and things got real.

Someone in the high-hierarchy of the federal police started one more of many operations against corruption, this one called "Operation: Jet Wash". These sorts of things happen all the time since the PT scandals, but tend to end with nothing as the government protects itself or with mediocre results as politicians try to backstab one another to eliminate competition.
But this one is getting commanded by Judge Moro, and there will be hell to pay.

Things started small, someone got imprisioned for helping in some small scheme, or for being a facilitator to a more bigger fish, but instead of being content with he already caught in hands, Judge Moro stats to make alliances with criminals by offering to pardon them if they give him names... And you know what people say about the weakest link of the chain... In no time big fish started to get caught too, and to save themselfs they gave proof of more people, which in turn make even more people get caught... And someday the face of the operation, "The Federal's Japanese"(Newton Ishii) is all over the media carrying arrested the head of an mega-corp that was part of the scheme with the companies that the PMDB created and PT continued... Politicians wants to stop the operation, but they can't give STF protection for everyone and now Judge Moro/Japanese-guy are heroes who played their cards right and got under the radar for time enough to be too big when people turned on them.

Meanwhile... Eduardo Cunha, one of the heads of the PMDB and the Head of the Lower house, get accused of corruption and get marked to be judged by the etical commission of the house... and now is where things get confuse.

Not so much, as far as i know, the military has their valor and beliefs that makes them help as they can the Right-minded politicians that agree with them, and their families and friends tend to be a voter base of some power... But independently they aren't of much power and are limited in their scope of influence, the time of CIA-esque procedures and toture is long gone as the people that did it tries to not get attention for themselfs and go under the radar.

But...There is this movement of nostalgia for an military dictatorship going on with some people, and there is ONE guy that is becoming the center of attention of people who wanted a more military-cultured-esque government... and that man is Jair Bolsonaro, or "Bolsonaro: The Myth" or simply "Bolsomyth".

He is an military version of Trump, i would say.
He is the type of guy who says what he wants to who he wnats, defends conservative belifs and the patriotism against SJW bullshit, seems to be unable to talk for 10min without giving something to the opposition to backfire him for.

The military just love this guy, and go out of their way to help him in any way they can... But any people of "Center" or "Left" will declare you the worst of humanity if you defend him or something.

Hey Wong I was reading the earlier threads and noticed a move you made that you didn't put in the moves list
>Grapple Drag: If you have successfully Pinned or Bearhugged an enemy unit at range, you may use this maneuver to yank them towards you. Make an opposed roll, your Mecha Reflexes+Mecha Brawl versus their Mecha Reflexes+Mecha Piloting. You get +1 for every weight category you have over your opponent, and -1 for every weight category they have over you (so you have +1 against a Tulwar). For every point you beat their roll by, you drag them 50 meters towards you.
>>
>>657166
And a follow up you added later
>By the way, I'm going to improve the Grapple Drag maneuver since it requires you to already have an enemy grappled with the harpoon. From now on, every point you beat their roll by drags them 100 meters towards you. Admittedly, it's still better against kiting assholes than the Osano-Wo, which is cheekily standing in place filling the sky with bullets.

>>

Apparently the guy did call for a return to the military government only eight years after the military was removed, and praised another president for using military intervention against the judiciary and legislature of his government. That's pretty shady no matter how you look at it.

And he IS pretty much against everything the left stands for. So polarization of politics, everybody getting inflamed, yadda yadda yadda, you've probably heard this shit before

Depends on who does it first, Military, Brutalis-Anarchists or the PT-Lacays?

Probably won't happen anyway, the people itself never did an revolution, but the military did it twice(1889 and 1964), but they would have to be certain of international and national support.

He pilots the machine and gets the prize money, but they want him to give it as much publicity as possible to draw attention to potential buyers. Nice to see gents.

Here's what I had in mind for the Gold-Tail:

>A Hot-Shot Teenager with a ton of skill and just enough experience to back it up. Street kid who may or may not have obtained her mech by breaking into the home of a Sidereal War vet, gotten the shit kicked out of her and managing to impress the vet enough for the old man to take her under his wing. Eventually managed to restore the old man's mecha and give it a few perceived upgrades. Enjoys blasting rap out of speakers when she can. Would have entered SPACE JAM as a way to make a name for herself and has actually managed to scrounge up the cash for the entry fee through piracy near Corona Station.

Would look like a teenage Karen Joshua.
>>
Question: Are Beam Bayonets ala the Zeta Gundam a thing?
>>
Oh, and is it possible to use Space Efficiency to reduce the space taken by a system to 0?
>>
Anyways, the Gold-Tail is probably completely finished now.

http://pastebin.com/TUsKxgNn

I may end up going back to add more thrusters and space efficiency.
>>
>>658303
There is no written rule against it, but Wong will almost certainly say no, and it'll likely get you kicked out of any table you're playing at.

>>658296
If you stat them out. Perhaps you might just Mate a Beam Weapon with an EMW?

>>658338
Looks interesting. You don't seem to have listed its MA down, but that's a minor thing. I don't imagine Jet Mode will see much use in a tournament, but it's definitely a nice thing to have for general use.

Not going to give it a beam shield or anything to parry with, though? -3 MV is pretty light, but might not be enough to reliably dodge everything.
>>
>>658349
Thanks for the clarification, I probably won't make a Beam Bayonet for this mech.

As for the lack of defenses, I wanted it to reflect its Pilot's reckless nature. I think I'm definitely going to add more Thrusters then. I was looking at the Master Harpies for reference and only one of them mounts a Shield at all.
>>
>>658349
Oh, are weapons supposed to be factored in for Transformation and Thruster costs?
>>

>>
>>658379
Interesting.

What are feather shields?
>>
>>658382
Mounted Active shields that look like Angel Wings.
>>
>>658388
Are Active Shields in the core rules?
>>
>>658368
Yes. You factor all costs when applying Cost Multipliers other than Weight (In)Efficiency.

>>658359
You might want to invest in some Verniers if that's the case. Most machines will want to have some kind of defensive options when fighting one-on-one, because your enemy, if also built for one-on-one fights, is liable to have some way to close the distance or keep you pinned.

Master Harpies aren't exactly the most optimal of mechs, and, I expect, are built with the mindset that they will always have allies to cover their defenses.

>>658391
They're in the ATM, which is probably what you want to be referring to if you're building a custom mech.
>>
>>658393
Pretty sure Verniers are banned.

Ideally, the Gold-Tail will be constantly hitting and running but I might be able to mount some Shields on the Arms.

If I mounted two, would both Shields get factored into Parrying?
>>
>>658397
Large amounts of verniers to reduce something from -5 MV to -1 are banned. I'm fairly sure small amounts of verniers should be perfectly fine, especially since Weight Efficiency is sometimes fluffed as verniers in-universe.

Still, you could also go with Weight Efficiency if you're worried.

You cannot actively Parry with more than one Standard and/or Active Shield at once. Reactive Shields may stack on top of other shields though, including other Reactive Shields.
>>
>>658400

I just realized I don't know what MV is. What does it affect and how is it calculated?
>>
File: core rulebook page 65.jpg (93 KB, 595x378)
93 KB
93 KB JPG
>>658404
Maneuver Value. It affects your Mecha Reflex, which in turn affects a fair number of other things you do, so it's pretty important.

It's primarily calculated from your mech's weight, and may later be modified by other things such as Powerplants and Verniers.
>>
>>658412
Ah, thanks. I think I'll buy some Verniers then and forego the Shields.
>>
>>658412
Actually, I'll think I'll go with Weight Efficiency. Verniers would put me over the CP limit.
>>
Query: Using the ATM, how does one stat a melee weapon? Say for example, a 10K Sword with AP & Quick?
>>
>>658538
The cost of the weapon multiplied by the price of AP multiplied by the cost of Quick. I think that would be about 20 CP?
>>
>>658538
I'm not sure why you're asking for melee in particular, but I'll just run through everything.

For CP, you take the base cost of the 10-kill Melee Weapon and multiply it by the cost of the modifiers you're applying to it. In this case, 5[base]*2.0[AP]*2.0[Quick] gives you a CP cost of 20.

The weapon also occupies as many spaces as it costs (so 20 in this case).

And since you're not altering the accuracy at all, you use the default (x1.0) Weapon Accuracy of +0.

Unless I'm misremembering, all weapons apart from EMWs weigh a number of tons equal to half their number of kills, so your 10-kill sword weighs 5 tons.

So, using Wong's notation, it would be:
Sword: WA +0, 10K, AP, Quick, 20 CP, 20 Spaces, 5 Tons.

I prefer to list it separately myself to avoid confusion, but I believe Wong also folds any Space Efficiency into this. So, for instance, if you wanted to apply 10 Spaces of Efficiency (for 5 CP), you would instead have:
Sword: WA +0, 10K, AP, Quick, 25 CP, 10 Spaces, 5 Tons.
>>
>>658558
How do you work out the weight of EMW's anyway?
>>
>>658560
Figure out its Kills (which I believe is attack divided by 2), then divide by 2 again.
>>
>>658571
Oh. Makes sense I guess.
>>
File: ATM page 28.jpg (11 KB, 242x75)

>>658560
As per pic related, EMWs have a number of structural Kills (which is actually the 'Kill' value described in the section on determining weight) equal to a quarter of their damage output. Hence, they weigh an eighth of their listed Kill value.

Space Efficiency on Propulsion Systems (of which Thrusters are one type) has actually been directly referenced in the ATM. Wong has taken issue with the use of Efficiency on Thrusters before, but I think (though I may be wrong) that he later changed his mind and permitted it.

I don't see any reason you shouldn't be able to apply it to Verniers, on the assumption that you can indeed apply it to Thrusters.

Goes along with the tripulation for all her life, rarely getting out when they land in some station, and because of that becomes the pet of tripulation, as the yougest of them.
Because of her inicial desolation she goes full weaboo while trying to don't think about the past, and becomes one of the more fanatics of Otakulture in the middle of them, going through all their store of midia.

As she grows up, she starts to feel kind of useless and defenseless because she don't pilot anything and can't be a true pirate and go in holy quests for ancient nippon sacred items this way, and starts to try and persuade the Storm Dragons in letting her being an Harpy pilot.

But the tripulation don't want to risk their sacred loli imouto in battle as she is just a kid, and creates conditions for giving her an robot to try to distract her out of this, so she goes through all sort of random weaboo training of "traditional nippon arts" from her twelve to sixteen years.

Eventually, she gets in love with Roarke's fighting style and just won't shut up about wanting to pilot a robot, and finally persuades oni-chan and his tripulation to let her get into a robot for SPACE JAM... and because they don't want her to die doing something stupid, the technicians from the hangar go out of their all to make an "ACE" mecha for her.

(I'm still thinking if she will have more family than her mother... Maybe a brother and an youger sister who is a maid)

But Rika/Megumin isn't a real ace, she is just an above average pilot with some years of training and bluegill joe pratice that has an custom mech: The Walkure Delta.

Well, for starters things that are below 100 are considered your standard mooks. Mass produced, easy to kill, and are populated by things like the Bluegill and Harpy. 140 is when you get into that super mook territory. Not quite a proper ace machine, but still better than normal.

Dodging is mecha reflexes and reflex stat after you take of your maneuver value penalty. So 10 reflex, 5 mecha reflex and a -3 MV penalty would be a +12 to dodge. You can dodge a good number of things, but stuff like blast damage cannot be dodged.
>>
>>658749
Whenever a target (be they mech or human) is attacked, they automatically get to immediately try to dodge (technically named an Evade Attempt in the Core Rulebook) by rolling 1d10+relevant modifiers (MR+Mecha Piloting for mechs). If the result equals or exceeds the attack roll, the attack misses. Otherwise, the target then gets to roll to Parry or do other similar things.

The size of your mech has no direct impact on dodging, though a larger mech is likely to be heavier, and hence have a worse MV and be less likely to succeed the dodge attempt.

Not sure about the 140 CP reasoning. If I were to hazard a guess, it's not such a low number that we can't build anything interesting, while not being so high that it's into ace-only mech territory.

>>658751
>Do you guys think that is too big?
Little bit, for a mech that's basically just slightly better than a mook machine, but that's just me.

>>658749

>>

>>
>>658766
VERY good, there is only a few mechs that gets -1, and most of them are Ace mechs, or superlight almost non-combat abled ones.
>>
>>658766
150 is about where I would consider an Ace custom to start. At 140 you still have wiggle room before getting something like the Master Harpy varients. -2 MV value is probably the best you are going to get without going crazy on weight loss or vernier use. Just remember that making your machine super light does not help if it can only take 1 hit.
>>
>>658766
Pretty good in most cases (the best you can get without taking some very specific Cost Multiplier Systems is 0).

But given that most mechs in the tournament will be pretty light due to their lack of CP, I'd expect most mechs to have -2 to -3, or perhaps -4 if they're taking penalties due to Body Form or some such.

So, while -2 MV may give you a fair advantage over higher cost machines like the old Kaiser (which had a -4 or -5 if I'm remembering correctly), it definitely won't be enough to let you reliably dodge shots from the competition in the tourney.
>>
>>658784
>>658778
>>658786

Noted.

At what point is the Transformation Cost supposed to be applied?

And what can be added to improve Dodging capabilities that aren't Verniers?
>>
>>658786
From what i already saw... Most will be -3 or -4, with a few -2 and -5, with the -2 being agile light mechs and the -5 being heavy-hitters Heavy-mechs.
My mechs:
Elder-1: -4
Elder-1-2(prototype):-2
Delta Walkure: -3
Hussar: -3
Tenshi: -5
>>
>>658794
After everything including weight reduction.

Weight Reduction? Maybe some of the more exoteric systems... But i didn't read them yet.
>>
>>658794
Transformation is a Cost Multiplier System, and is applied with all the other Cost Multipliers once all other things apart from Weight Efficiency have been factored in.

You can improve your chance to dodge by improving your MV. Generally this is done using Verniers or Weight Efficiency, though some Cost Multiplier Systems like Powerplants or Thought Control (though I doubt Wong will permit that one) will also do the trick.

There's also shenanigans you can pull with Command Armor, but Wong shouldn't be allowing that one either.

>>658798
FUN FACT: The Tenshi Can survive a ROCK hitting his torso.

>>
>>658803
>>658805

Hmm, now I'm tempted to make the Gold-Tail a permanently Gerwalk type mech then use the points I get back to reduce its weight even further in order to get an even smaller MV penalty.

Although, that would only make its MA 15 and it would still have an MV of -2.

Eh, I think I'll just drop the transformation entirely and use the remaining points to soup it up a bit further.

Yup. It's a step up, but it also has another few features to it as well. It can hit harder than a pumpkin seed with it's melee attacks, lift 30 tons, as much as a Medium weight can, gives +2 cool to cool related rolls, and it can quick remove it's limbs for repairs and to lighten it's load.

The drop thing could work, but what happens when the torso goes to zero? You robot just stop moving, or you die?And didn't the cockpit had extra kills?

Anyway, i know, the Tenshi is kind of bad even with its actual pontuation, an thats is because he is a translation from another system that didn't went well.

About the sword, though, it has "returning" proprieties? No? So wouldn't it just come to him again?

In fact, i should speak about its design i think, the thing is, the Tenshi was created to be part of a project with the author of BLE, and was this extremely minmaxed robot who had this absurd amount of hitpoints while having this flaw that made every attack against him have 1/3 to 50% of chance of doing a critical hit, and while he had only 2/3 of the points the original Hussar had, it could go toe to toe with one if the pilot had luck(it also had the same amount of armor, and double the damage, and while he didn't have longranged attacks, it had a magnetic longsword that works kinda similar to this one).

But that didn't translated well here, as i used Ablative armor to simulate that "High Health but vulnerable" factor.

So i may make some changes to it today if i got time.
>>
>>659433
I presume when your torso reaches zero you just bail the fuck out.

>>
>>659445
Isn't "returning" like the Mjolnir? Can't i just extend my arm and do a few gestures and it counts as if i was pulling it with my strength or something?
>>
>>659433
When the Torso is reduced to 0 Kills, it is destroyed like any other servo. If the pilot is located in the Torso as it is being destroyed, he must attempt an ejection roll or be killed, rolling 1d10+Ref and requiring a minimum roll of 11 to survive with heavy injuries.

>>659451
Returning is explicitly stated in its description to function as Thrown, with the sole exception that, when thrown, it returns to the user afterwards without needing to be retrieved.
>>

It seems to be just an upgrade to throw. Maybe it would come back if someone else wasnt holding on to it.

>>659451
No, that is not how returning works. That is also some crazy high level tech you are assuming there. Way I see returning is it being something akin to a boomerang, chakram, or a ball and chain with some means of retrieval. If I take it, it being the whole thing, it would not return. If you simply drop it, it would not return.

Elder Ones: Basil reminisce about old war days when he sees the old version, and may talk to the pilot (who is an old vet) a little. Karen see this strange prototype that looks like an elder one at the surface, but has these more slender design with modifications that imply new hidden systems, his pilot(and creator) get chibi levels of desesperation trying to keep her away from his "child".

Za Delta Walkure: "loli imouto" is noticed a few times by different NPCs while she does weird weaboo things around, later she shows up in the tourney piloting the mech and people are surprised that she wasn't just some chuunibyou child but a true pilot, Storm Dragons cheer for her while martial arts types are dissapointed by the "Heresy" of her mecha layout(which uses missiles too).

Hussar: Someone recognizes SOUL-level technology in the mech while is in the hangar, and is curious about it but can't find the pilot.

Tenshi: It's engineers and technicians enter in a fight withe the guys from a rival company that appeared to the Jam too, shenanigans ensues as some secundary caracter tries to control the situation, and everything end in a "WE WILL CONTINUE THIS IN THE ARENA!" fashion.

What are the benefits of having Multiple Shields?

>>660754

>>
>>660764
Would it be better to have multiple Small shields or 1 Large Shield?
>>

A large shield is easier to block with and I believe can block area of effect attacks while multiple small shields give multiple chances to block.
>>
>>660773
>>660819
You can't block with multiple Shields unless no more than one of them isn't Reactive. And in the case of Reactive Shields, there isn't a Parry roll, so having multiples affords no benefit (unless you're going for something specific, like having better defenses against ranged attacks as opposed to melee as a cost-saving measure).

So, generally speaking, having a single larger Shield is more useful than having multiple small ones, assuming all other aspects of the Shields are constant.

Parry arcs is a rule that applies in games on a hex grid - I'm not sure if it's ever been relevant in this quest since we don't seem to be operating on a strict map system.

The gist of it is that, while you can always Parry in the three hexes ahead of you, you can only Parry from the direction to your side and back if the appropriate Arm has a Shield mounted on it, and you can never Parry directly behind you.

Of course, this was in the Core Rulebook, where all mechs were far simpler, and the assumption that most mechs would be humanoid and have two Arms where Shields would be mounted wasn't too far from the truth.

Given the distinct possibility of mechs which aren't humanoid, don't have two Arms, are omnidirectional in facing or have Shields mounted in other places than the Arm servo (like the Torso, or a fully rotatable head) - and especially since we're not actually playing with minis on a map - I'm not sure this rule should be relevant here.

But if you feel the need for superior protection in both directions, Shields are an entirely valid system to Split across two Hands, hence effectively mounting them on both Arms at once. You might want to make it carriable in a single Hand to avoid getting punched, though.
>>
>>660882

>>
>>660936

>>660967
Given that it's been established that not even the most penniless pirates who live fast and die young run Hot Powerplants, I'd not count on Wong permitting them. So your options are mainly Weight Inefficiency and Manual Cockpit Controls.

Okay, this is what i came up with:
The Tenshi is an old model created in Meiji station by the Yuuki Corp, the station is one of the first big colonies created in the time that people were colonizing the solar system.
The station was created in the "ANCAP JUPITER" time, and was governed by this alliance of families that declared themselfs nobles, the Yuuki Corp is an reminiscense of this past, as today those families have their power cointaned by Uranos being in Jupiter's influence.

As they resent jupiter, and are a colony that doesn't have to care with planet shenanigans, they created mechs that exceled only in space combat and had limited time use... and ended up with the Tenshi.

Today, the Tenshi is used mainly in mercenary companies to be an midranged mook support in battles against pirates, but has been gradually abandoned in favor of new and more safe mechs as their price and raw physical strength starts to not compensate enough for the danger of their hot powerplants.

(Planning on it having: Hot Powerplant, Power Cell, Manual Controls("handhelding" version of HMIS that gest in the way of experienced pilots) and Space Hydraulics for an -0.4x multiplier)

Hehehehehe, i know, i know, but as i explained some posts ago, the original Tenshi was an very defective and prone to explosions type of mook mech, so this was my best try to adapt it as loyal to the original as it could be.
I'm going to do the "Mirai-Tenssi" after this, and it will only have Power Cell and Manual Controls, as Hot Powerplant isn't a thing anymore and Space Hydraulics limits its use possibilities too much now that the SSL is going out of the system to fight the avalonians.

But... the problem is one of these things in specific or the "-0.4x" multiplier?

I can't exactly speak for Wong here, but I can offer my own point of view.

Fluffwise, no sane mech designer would stack so many negatives on a single machine, not least because such a hyper-specialized mech would have no market. Hot Powerplants alone are something we've never seen before, let alone all the rest of it.

Mechanically, you're stacking far too many penalties together to the point of abuse (somewhat like stacking Verniers) to gain an advantage. One or perhaps even two might be fine, but with a -x0.4 modifier, you're effectively entering the equivalent of a 230 CP mech.

There's also the fact that Power Cells give you CP for literally no downside in this particular format (since you're only going to have it up for a few rounds), while making the machine far less viable for anything outside tournament play.

Also, what happens if it turns out the tournament doesn't take place in a location with no atmosphere?

I can't exactly hold it against you, though, because everything I make invariably keeps turning out as a hyper-specialized janky piece of shit.
>>
>>661337
Hmm... I know, it is Muchkinery level of stacking things.... And i'm okay with it getting banned if things com to it, as the inicial idea was adapting a mech i liked from other game, and it will get broken in this context.

Fluff-wise, its a mech for self-defense and space operations man, it comes from a colony that wanted to have nothing with mars and jupiter but keeps getting drag into their problems, it makes sense to have an mech with short time span as it doesn't have many reasons to be more than 24h out of a ship or an hangar attacking someone, and makes sense that its space-limited as their owners almost never go to mars.
>>
>>661337
>>661353
>I can't exactly hold it against you
Thanks bro, i know how it goes, theres is too much that seems cool to use, but too few CP to actually get it.

Do you think the whole Power Cell thing would be banned anyway?I'm thinking of taking "Manual" and "Undercharged Power Plant" to the Mirai version, do you think thats better?
>>
>>661353
How would a mech designed to operate in the cold and weightlessness of space function in a colony? Well, unless it was an exceptionally small colony.

>>661363
Power Cell is definitely into munchkin territory, because it doesn't have any downside in this specific format. There is literally no reason not to take it if you can - in which case everyone may as well have gotten 165 CP instead.

I would personally be fine with Manual Controls and Undercharged Cool Powerplants because they give a fair amount of disadvantage in exchange for CP - but again, it's up to Wong to decide.

Build something that you won't be upset spending your time on, even if you're eventually told you can't use it.

No. The skills required to successfully run a pirate ship are not directly transferable to the skills required to run a city.

How the hell do you determine the spaces that a Beam Weapon takes up? Is it Equal to Cost? Because I'm not seeing any reasoning to how this works.
>>
>>664472
Yup. Each CP takes up 1 space, no exception. You want to remove a space, thats 0.5 cp per space. Think of it as making something really big and bulky using a lot of tech, then slimming it down into something manageable.

The Myrmidon is pretty much designed to be a cheaper Ace machine.
>>
>>664670
Well, let's see. I think you got the weight wrong by forgetting to factor in the sensor weight and possibly your beam sabers, which would be another 4 tons. Thats another 8 CP if you want it to to stay the same value. You forgot to put in the spaces and CP for the enviro pod as well.
>>
>>664760
It's just a cockpit, no Enviro pod. I definitely included the sensor weight though. Probably forgot the beam sword weights.

Other than that, how's the concept?
>>
>>664792
>>664760
Ah, no, you're right. I'm off by 4.
>>
>>664792
It's not a bad design. It's pretty good damage wise, could chop off a limb or torso in a good swing, has a good range option, two thick shields that can help against a frontal blast, and a good MV value. The down side is this thing is fragile once you get past the shields. If it does not get the first hit and is struck in the torso with a good weapon, it's done. Its MA is pretty low as well for it's category, possibly lower due to the extra 4 tons. Need to be careful if the enemy fights smart.
>>
>>664855
And I looked over the math. You seem to have miscalculated because it is actually over the limit by a lot. You forgot to double the amount of CP your shields and swords cost due to you dual wielding them. Before weight efficiency becomes a thing, it's already over the 140 cp cap.
>>
>>664855
Thanks for the input.

>>665075
I'm pretty sure I doubled those but I'll check in the morning.
>>
>>665075
Math should be fixed now. http://pastebin.com/eimXdKRj

Unfortunately, despite the relative lightness of the frame, the shields really weigh it down cost and mass wise. Thinking about dumping the two Medium shields for a single heavier one.
>>
>>666088
Shields are expensive bastards alright.
>>
>>666088
Physical gear gets pretty heavy pretty fast, but for your sort of machine, some extra layers of protection are a must. It won't be as light as before, but those shields are going to protect your tender torso from being taken out as easily.
>>
>>666088
Shields are annoyingly heavy. They're the first thing I think of when I ponder what I should mount defensively on a design, but they're almost invariably discarded, before I move on to considering Beam Shields, Reactive Shields and Shadow Imagers.

It makes it hard to build something using the permitted systems.
>>
>>666194
It's not like the other options don't have their own flaws. Active and reactive shields are quite expensive and if a big enough thing hits a reactive shields, it's down for good. Beam shields also suffer that problem and shadow imagers run into the problem of blast damage nulling them. It is doable to make a good machine with the budget and limit, but you also have to think of it in a practical combat sense too.
>>
On another Note: http://pastebin.com/DdG9qXLN

The slightly improved Spartan. Traded out the Mace for a Vibrosword and improved the Thrusters. As it was built as a challenge to the Pumpkinseed-II, let me know what you guys think about a direct match up between the two Mechs.

Interesting Fact: A Physical Melee Weapon with Armor-Piercing will outperform an EMW at higher SPs.
>>
By the Way, anyone else got some proposed intros for their mechs?

For the Myrmidon:

Beckingham: "That's a pretty light mech. Barely more than a Bluegill."

Flint: "Don't bash the Bluegill son, those things are reliable. Besides, this one is Something else entirely. Its got some interesting shields and that gun on its back looks like a mighty powerful beam cannon."

B: "Huh, you're right. Not to mention that it's carrying beam sabers. I thought only UJCIDF forces had those."

F: "That tech has been leaking faster than a sieve. We've got them, after all."

B: "Fair Point, but only our Aces are carrying those. None of the Mechs in the competition should be advanced enough to handle them."

F: "Says a lot about the quality of the mech if it's carrying them, eh?"

For the Spartan:

F: "That's a mighty fine mech right there."

B: "Hmm, I'm not so sure. Look at the weld marks and the paint. It looks like they cut quite a few corners. It's missing a hand as well."

F: "No mech bigger than a Harpy would survive moving if its frame was half-assed. It's rough around the edges, but I'd say it's got a solid core."

B: "If you say so. Admittedly, that's a high-quality Vibrosword it's carrying. We likely won't be many of those once beam sabers become more common."

F: "A shame that is. Nothing used to carve through armor like a Vibrosword."

>>666456
Interesting.

Would he have a reputation if he's been active since the Sidereal War?
>>
>>666447
The Pawn line and technically the entire Chessboard project(which includes the Rook and Cardinal) are Lunar designed machines. The Pawn's original name was the Pheonix due to it's heavy flamethrower and the thought it would rise through the ashes to victory. Problem is, it was a sub 100 cp machine with a poor generator and a heavy body. So they outfit the thing with a 20 kill Blast 4 bomb incase a greenman comes near one.

As for being better than a zaku? A thing you have to realize is that while it is a grunt mech, it's a grunt mech that through different variations and slight changes kept up through the entirety of the One Year War and beyond.

In retrospect, the hydraulics was probably a smart choice on that part since it squeezes in a extra kill on weapons. Doesn't seem like much, but if a weapon requires another 8 cp to just boost it up one more kill(like the kaiser's knuckles), it easily makes up for the cost at this point.

>As for being better than a zaku? A thing you have to realize is that while it is a grunt mech, it's a grunt mech that through different variations and slight changes kept up through the entirety of the One Year War and beyond.

Yeah, it's a grunt mech but the only reason it was any good in the first place was because, for a long time, the Federation had nothing that could stand up to it. The Zaku series was ultimately just a glorified weapons platform.

Also, I'd probably count the Zaku as a Striker with Medium Striker Armor rather than a Medium Striker with Heavy Striker Armor.

Say that after trying to stat literally any aquatic mech.
>>
>>666516
Are aquatic mechs OP?

And I suppose it'd be more accurate to say that Mekton operates on a different separate ruleset than Gundam. After all, beam weapons are considered the "weaker" option in Mekton.

On a Gundam related note, are there any rules for a beam resistant coating like the Hyaku Shiki's or is it a Command Armor thing? Because a fairly weightless add-on that you can buy for each servo would make more sense.

>>
>>666493
I'll disagree on that point since even the gundam could be considered a glorified weapons platform. To me, a Good grunt follows the principals of quick to build, easy to fix and mod, and sturdy enough to handle the rigors of grunt work.
>>
>>666869
I suppose that the Zaku lives up to the Grunt category early on but after the GM entered the field it was firmly demoted to cannon fodder.
>>
>>666898
Beam guns in general did not help heavy armor units in gundam, but I would not say the GM was a good all around grunt. Even the ground type had problems on it's supposed battlefield and while it's beam saber and beam weaponry in general gave it a edge, it wasn't that good on it's own. Step up from the Ground Gundam and Ball though.
>>
>>666898
To be fair the GM is basically a poor mans gundam and is a a lot more high tech than a Zaku 2 and by that point the Zaku 2 was already getting replaced by shit like Rick Doms which are at least equal to a GM if not better.

>>
>>666931
But is it better than a Rick Dom?
>>
>>666931
Thats the Dom though, not the Rick Dom. The Dom is a land based unit designed for ground assaults. The Rick Dom was designed to fight in space.
>>
>>666918
>>666922

The thing is, the GM was better than the Zaku in every way while still being mass-producible and easily repairable.

Yes, the Rick Dom and Gelgoog far outstripped the GM, but that ultimately didn't matter when you had a squad of GMs for every Zeon unit on the field. Even then, the GM was still tough enough to hold its own on the battlefield.

The GM is the True Grunt Mech.

Oh, and I'd disagree with the assertion that a Grunt Mech would be easily moddable. It may have a number of loadouts, but it shouldn't be easy to change it from the standard.
>>
>>666945
>but that ultimately didn't matter when you had a squad of GMs for every Zeon unit on the field.
Thats less to do with how easy they are to make and more to do with the feds being able to outproduce zeon by a silly amount.
>>
>>666945
Thats sort of a false thing to say considering the sheer resource and manpower the Feds had compared to Zeon. By the time the GMs came out, the resource crunch was already hitting Zeon, with many of their best and brightest dead or gone. Yes they could produce a bunch of GMs, but that was due to them having the money to do so, not because it was a better machine.

And modularity does make for a good grunt. Being able to put on the parts needed for a specific environment or situation with minimal
wait or cost is important for missions. Sometimes the grunt needs to be faster or stronger or more durable to handle the situation. If it cannot properly handle it, it could put the pilot and mission at risk.
>>
>>666976

Easy to produce is relative to the government that is producing the machine. For the Federation, the GM was an easily mass-produced machine. I'm sure that they'd have had an easier time building Zakus, but that wouldn't have been worth it. That actually brings up a question: How come the Federation never produced their own versions of Zeon Mobile suits?

As for your definition of modularity, that seems more like different kits and loadouts for different situations rather than straight up moddability. Moddability would be creating something like the Ez8 out of a standard machine.

Also, the GM did have different loadouts for different environments and missions.
>>
>>666999
The Feds would have an easier time building literally anything than zeon.
>>
>>666961
>>667020

Not debating that, but I'm still going to point out that it was the GM's effectiveness as a Mobile Suit that contributed just as much as numbers.
>>
>>666999
They have. See the Titan machines which had a very zeonic feel to them. The GM was easy to mass produce since the only really expensive things to them were the beam weapons. It didn't have much armor because there was no need, but it also made them pretty breakable as well. The lack of armor also caused it trouble in deserts and swampy areas when it'd cause trouble for the joints and systems. The Ground GM was not exempt from this and the Ground Gundam which the EZ-8 was based off of was even worse. In terms of modularity the GM was worse off than the Zaku. They were cheap machines, given strong weapons designed to counter zeonic designs. The machine itself was not that great, and even it's programs were simple copy pasted from the gundam's learning computer.

Eh, Titans doesn't count. I meant during the One Year War.

Also

>The RGM-79 was far more mobile in space than the Zeon's Zaku II with a maximum thruster acceleration of 0.94 Gs, even better than the Gundam's 0.93 Gs and roughly twice of the Zaku's acceleration. On the Earth's surface, the GM is faster than the Zaku II in a sprint with a top running speed of 102 km/h compared to the Zeon mobile suit's 88 km/h. The GM had a hull armored in titanium alloy, which is stronger than the Zaku II's super-high tensile steel armor yet allows for a minimum thickness, keeping its weight and production cost down.

>Overall, the RGM-79 GM was superior in almost all aspects compared to the Zeon's Zaku II mobile suit. And, to compensate for Zeon's initially being more experienced in mobile suit warfare, the Federation started with the 'quantity over quality' approach. By the time of the GM's true introduction at the Battle of Jaburo, the Zeon forces had already started production of the MS-09B Dom, a mobile suit that performed slightly better than the GM but not appreciably more-survivable or deadlier against the GM's weaponry. When the war went back into space, the GM actually outperformed the MS-09R Rick Doms in most ways and were outperformed later by the MS-14 Gelgoogs; unfortunately for Zeon, the Rick Doms and Gelgoogs would be held up by the bickering Zabi family politics and the equally-serious ineptitude of high-level Zeon commanders preoccupied with bringing down the White Base and the Gundam. In the end, the Rick Dom was produced in too few numbers and the Gelgoog wouldn't be deployed until the last two weeks of the war.
>>
>>667047
>>667074

The GM surpasses the Zaku in nearly every way. I would say that makes it an excellent Grunt Mobile suit if the Zaku is considered a good example of a Grunt MS.
>>
>>667074
Interesting, so let's compare it to something that would be out around the same time but was a modified Zaku II. Let's go with the Zaku II Kai. A max acceleration of 1.07 Gs, 103 km ground speed, a machine gun with better penetration, with a titanium/ceramic composite armor. So if we went with one with similar time line specs as oppose to the start of the war and a brand new machine, then the Zaku II Kai would win.

But maybe we'll go with the Dom which was slightly better, but in your own words, it's the weaponry that did better, not the machine. Which brings up the previous point. The GMs were weaker comparitively to what was being produced as cutting edge at the time with only their weapons and numbers doing them any favors. Even Balls can be dangerous in a swarm. That does not make them a good grunt. In a way, they are more a weapons platform than the Zaku II, which used upscaled traditional weapons.

In the end, it's a average suit which was quickly replaced with the likes of the GM Sniper II which was a good suit(though mostly due to that crazy beam rifle). As for the why didn't they make them? They just stole them. There were plenty of Zakus after all.
>>
>>667132

The difference here is that the Zaku II Kai was never mass-produced and only a handful actually saw action. Comparing something that's supposed to be mainstay with a specialty unit is a disingenuous comparison. Even if the Zaku II Kai was meant as a mass-producible replacement to the Zaku-II, it never actually reached mass-production, which eliminates it from the running.

Tt's not the timeline that matters but what was actually used. Your initial assertion was that the Zaku and Zaku-II were good Grunt suits. My assertion was that the GM was a superior Grunt suit. In every way that you outlined, except modularity, the GM proves itself a superior suit. For part of the One Year War, the Zaku would have been the best Grunt unit but as soon as the GM was introduced, it lost that spot.

Also, I'd really love to continue this discussion but I have a ton of work to finish so I'll have to come back tomorrow.

Ahhh Dang it, i've wrote a big comment on why we should still just give the colonies for the captains, but that stupid controlled wifi from Rio's Airport blocked 4chan and erased it '-'.
I'm very frustated right now, but putting that aside:
We are still going for the elective monarchy thing, right? The last time we discussed it we got to the conclusion that everything would rnd in a monarchy either way, as Roarke needs to be the absolute ruler and we won't just let our kids with nothing when we day because of "democracy" or something.

So, do someone have an good argument on not dividing the belt in 8 and giving it to thr captains? Or an best alternative than Elective Monarchy?

So, One King(Roarke) and Seven Dukes(The captains)?

What about creating also "Barons" and "Knights"?
Barons being people who buy nobility titles to themselfs and gain privileges based on that, but can't pass the title on to their childs(We get money with an lifetime VIP system like the portuguese crown did)
And Knights being people who are elevated to nobility by the king(or maybe by an duke) and have nobility bonus in exchange for their service.

It is more like something that passed through my mind than an complete plan, but what do you think about it?

I'm awake now. So let's see here. >>667163
You assumption is that due to it having higher specs that the GM was superior than the Zaku II and saying that due to being late in the game before it could be produced the Kai did not count. So let's look at timing then.

The GM's debut came at the second assault on Jaburo, well into the war and right when shit was going down for Zeon. The majority of their aces were missing or dead, the Zabis were well fractured, and the resource crunch was finally hitting it. Losing the second fight in Jaburo meant Zeon could not conquer the Earth simply because it no longer had the man power to do so. Thanks to the Gundam, Jaburo was defended and if I recall, the counter attack began in earnest.

And that's the point. By the time the GM was ready, designed to be a anti-zeon mobile suit machine, the war was already turning to the Fed's side. You raised a good point for the Kai. It did not come out fast enough to be useful, but the same could be said for the GM. By the time it came out, the casualties on the earth side were massive. To the point of hundreds of millions if not billions. It didn't really do any big maneuvers, mostly just taking back places conquered or going to Solomon and the head quarters, and even then the Colony laser and that giant mirror array did not help their survivability. Meanwhile the Zaku II was the workhorse on which the majority of Zeon's victories came from in the start of the war. It came out quick enough to be useful and thanks to that they did well. Hell, the V project was designed to counter the Zeonic Mobile suits so in that regard they viewed the Zaku II as such a threat that they needed to counter it since Balls were doing little. And they did. Half way through the one year war comes the Gundam and it proceeds to ruin everyone's day. Then the Guncannon and Guntank. Then the GM. By the time it came out, the Dom was about with the Rick Dom and Gelgoog soon following. So, aside from their beam weapons, the GM was already starting to pace behind with sheer numbers being it's redeeming factor.

In short, you're right. The Kai came out too late to be useful, but so did the GM. At that point the casualties were already to the point that the Feddie victory was phyric at best and the Zeon side was out of steam. The Zaku had it's turn to shine, and while it would continue to be modable and able to make things that could compete with GMs, tech moves on. So yes, the GM did have better stats, but it was not the better grunt.
>>
>>668313
The thing is without the GM, the Federation had literally no way to mount a legitimate offensive against Zeon. Sure, they could have cranked out Balls but those just plain did not have the firepower to make a difference. The Gundam was just a single suit and, while it was obscenely powerful, it could not fight the entire war on its own.

The GM was responsible for a good portion of the Federation's victories as well. Yes, Zeon was reeling but the GM was perfectly able to take advantage of that fact. The only reason the Zaku did well in the early part of the war was that the Federation had nothing to oppose it with effectively. If the Zaku did its job in attacking an unprepared enemy that was ill-equipped to fight back, then the GM did its job by attacking a weakened foe that was still willing to fight.

Even if you bring up the point about the Zeon pilots being untrained Rookies, the same point applies to the Federation forces. There were very few pilots with a significant amount of experience on the Federation side.

My point about the Zaku Kai wasn't that it came out too late too be useful, but that it wasn't a Grunt Mech because it saw a limited release. The GM was probably the most widely used mech in the war.

Even if the nature of the War changed, it doesn't change the fact that the GM excelled at its role in the war. Without it, the Federation probably wouldn't have won.

And, again, I'm not seeing how a suit that out-performs the Zaku in every way and was used as the primary unit among the Federation forces isn't the superior Grunt suit.
>>
>>668313
Also, I feel the Dutchman has more in common with the Dom than the Zaku. Framewise, that is. It's FAR bigger and more heavily armored than the Zaku.
>>
>>668367
>There were very few pilots with a significant amount of experience on the Federation side.
Actually almost all of their pilots came from other parts of the military, most of them were ex-fighter pilots.
Also it does out preform the zaku but thats because its much newer with more advanced technology. Of course it out preforms the zaku, by then the zaku was getting phased out for other mechs, which the GM is only equal to despite the feds tech advantage.
>>
>>668382
>Actually almost all of their pilots came from other parts of the military, most of them were ex-fighter pilots.

To be fair, there's a world of difference between piloting an MS and a fighter.

And my reasoning can be summed up as such.

>Zaku = Good Grunt Suit
>GM > Zaku
>GM = Better Grunt Suit
>>
>>668385
Gotta second this. The GM is awesome. Right suit at the right time. Its basically the Sherman. Sure, the Feddies had better suits during the OYW that they could have made, but they looked at the options and said, "fuck it, more GMs!"
>>
>>668396
I'm not seeing how having more of them made them better. I mean there wasn't more because they were easier to make, they used rare metals from the moon, and they didn't fight much better than their opposite numbers.
>>
>>668427
More GMs on the field meant more beam weaponry on a moderately tough and maneuverable frame.

That's ignoring the GM variants though, which were a cut above.
>>
>>668427
>>668427
>I mean there wasn't more because they were easier to make, they used rare metals from the moon, and they didn't fight much better than their opposite numbers.
This is flat out wrong. They very explicitly did not use the Lunar Titanium nonsense that the gundam did.
>>
>>668436
But that wasnt because of the GM itself, that was because the feds could make more of everything than zeon.
>>668439
You are right I was off there.
>>
>>668448

What wasn't because of the GM itself? Its specs? Yes, the Federation has amazing production capabilities but that doesn't change the fact that the GM is a good suit.
>>
>>668367
>>668385
Better tech does not mean a better machine or grunt. We have had many examples of old style weapons still competing against more modern firearms well past their time and this is an example of that. The state of the war does matter a lot though and especially with the sheer numbers that were being produced. Because the resource crunch happened, even if a zeonic line managed to kill a good number of GMs in the first wave, the second and third wave would overwhelm them as they would be unable to reinforce or repair. That is not a product of a good design, just a product of a vast difference of wealth and manpower and taking advantage of them does not make it better either.

Second, command structure is important. A lack of it can cause problems with a military front and has indeed cost many historical armies their wars. This thing happened with the Zabis since Ghiren and his siblings just could not get along. This meant resupplies were worsened and strategy as a whole was pretty hodgepodge.

For your counter for positions, I would disagree. While the tech level for Earth was lower, they still had plenty of fortified defenses and positions along with a few strong bases as well. The Zaku II did earn their victories, but it was through a sudden strike with a well fortified and supplied foe. A case of small numbers beating larger numbers. The situation with the GM was the opposite. It was larger numbers beating smaller numbers with weapons designed to kill them and slightly better machines in non fortified, unsupplied zones with zero tactical support.

The Zaku Kai could have become mass produced, but by then the war was almost over. There was no chance for the machine to be made in time. If it was made sooner, it would have certainly done more. Same goes for the GM. It would have had a proper impact if it was made before Jaburo instead of mopping up the mess the Gundam made.

And in all fairness, the Feds could have won the war without the GM. It had many times the resources and manpower compared to Zeon at this point and with beam rifles and cannons, even the most heavily armored machines couldn't stand up to them. A large number of balls firing volley after volley would have gotten the job done and even at it's peak there were still tons of balls compared to GMs. And they were the primary unit mainly because at that time in the war, there was no need to make vastly different machines. Because the war was almost over.

>>668464
It had good specs, but the Rick Dom was out competing it there when it was the main grunt for the Zeonic forces. So really, it's only advantage was the beam weaponry.
>>
>>668464
Its good but its not the be all and end all. GM II's and III's were still getting worked over by zeon OYW suits years later.
>>
>>668381
Actually, compared to the Dom, the Zaku was but 1.1 m smaller. Not really that different height wise, though considering the cardinal had heavy striker legs to the Dutchman's medium striker legs, it would make sense there. It was also less a sturdier suit and simply a faster, more agile suit designed for flat terrain like the desert. The original Cardinal design I made had a MA of 12. Possibly more once I de-vernier it and fix up it's stats.
>>
>>668478
We've gotten WAY off band I feel. Let's go back to the basics.

What makes the Zaku a good Grunt Mech? The criteria you listed were "quick to build, easy to fix and mod, and sturdy enough to handle the rigors of grunt work."

The GM falls into all of those categories with a possible contention for modification potential. The fact that it out performs the Zaku makes it a superior grunt suit in my mind.

Bringing up the number of GMs that were fielded only reinforces the fact that the GM was easily mass-produced.

Saying that the GM didn't make an impact is a blatant falsehood. The GM existed. The GM made up the bulk of the Federation's forces. The Federation fought Zeon. The GMs fought the Zeon suits. They destroyed many Zeon suits. Hence, THEY HAD AN IMPACT.

The Federation probably would have won the war without the GM. But the GM did have a major impact in them winning the war in the first place.

BUT THE ENTIRE DISCUSSION OF THE IMPACT OF THE ZAKU AND GM IS IRRELEVANT.

Their impact is not one of the categories by which the quality of a Grunt Suit is judged.

Also, there was actually an interesting dichotomy between the Rick Dom and the GM. The Dom had heavy armor and was much faster than the GM. However, the GM's beam sprayer neutralized the Dom's armor advantage and the GM's own armor greatly reduced the effectiveness of the Dom's weaponry. The end result is that the Dom is faster but fragile with a weaker attack. And speed fails to provide an advantage when you're being outmaneuvered by superior numbers.
>>
>>668482
The only Zeon OYW suit that I know of that could give the GM-II and III a hard time is the Gelgoog, which was literally designed as an Anti-Gundam unit. In the hands of a skilled pilot, that thing is obscenely powerful.
>>
>>668491
Huh, it looked way smaller in the show. Zakus were a bit shorter than the Gundam, and Doms were taller than it.
>>
>>668561
Think again famalam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3jNep1Ywc8
>>668565
The Doms are hovering most of the time.
>>
>>668478
Oh, and I suppose the Zaku-II Kai would have been a better Grunt Suit if it had actually been mass-produced.
>>
>>668571
Man, that animation quality is something else. I was watching the original show not that long ago and it looks so weird.

And yeah, Dom's were hovering. That would throw things off.
>>
>>668561
The Gelgoog was the King Tiger tank, to the GMs sherman
>>
>>668571
Also, the Juaggu seems really cheap. It doesn't look like it has any specialized armor but it's still shrugging off beams like they're nothing.
>>
>>668553
Well, we did go over the base meaning, but let's go through it again. First off; Production time. The thing you keep skating around is that comparativly, the Feds had a larger manpower force along with production sector than Zeon by the time GMs were being made. Putting out 10 GMs to 2 Zaku IIs meant little if they had 10 factories to 1. Durability, as I said before is not just strength and tech, it's being able to handle the rigors of combat. The GM had a lot of flaws to it when it came to exposed joints, and things like dirt and dust clogging vital parts. This sort of issue stuck with the Ground type GM and were made worse with the Ground Gundam which had been prone to overheat. For the war effort, it did not matter much since there was indeed a good number, but for the individual grunt, having systems jam or gum up was a major issue. It made the machine less reliable in those sort of situations and if a shot hits the weak joints, the crippled GM was a sitting duck, better armor or otherwise.

You also seem to be mixing up the Dom with the Rick Dom. By then, the rick dom had the beam bazooka and Mk7 heat rod. Both were able to compete with the beam guns and beam sword, making the better armor less relavent. When it came to gundam beam weaponry being able to not be hit was far more important than armor since it would eat through it easily.

But yes, in the base criteria the Zaku II still trumped. It was quick to build and in a sort of side note, quick to design. It had a 6 month lead before the GM was designed, built and made ready for mass production. It was easier to fix and mod since by that time the frame had seen much use and thus understanding of it allowed for better customization and repairs. And as pointed above, it was sturdy enough to slog through forests, deserts, jungles, and marshes with what you could consider slight design changes such as the Ground and Desert type. It did lose in the end, but by that point even a high tech machine could not win against sheer numbers.
>>
>>668664
Honestly, I feel that we're really not going to get anywhere with further discussion.

And it's noted that the GM outperformed the Rick Dom in most areas in space combat,

Like most systems, Shields can be mounted anywhere you have Spaces - even in other Shields purchased as Binders.

>>
>>669307

>>
>>669325

>>
>>669426

I'm pretty sure everything after Active Shields is banned. As is Command Armor.
>>
>>669432
I think just goofy shenanigans with command armour is banned.
>>
>>669438
Command Armor was actually 'maybe leaning towards no' because of the shenanigans Wong had heard could be pulled with it (and he'd be right).

>>669432
Everything that has appeared in quest so far is known to exist, even if only as experimental technology. For instance, Reactive Shields are available to (likely stolen) SOUL mechs, and Shadow Imagers are available to pilots entering from SOUL and Red Siren's crew. We've seen Cloaking mechs before too - it's just that the S-Betta is the cutting edge of chucking every fucking thing on there.

As long as you don't go overboard and can justify it (and probably might want to ask Wong beforehand if you think it might not be allowed), I don't see why you shouldn't be able use it.
>>
>>669455
I am pretty sure Wong has said at least once that someone in the game does actually have command armour and they are pulling their own shenanigans with it. But yeah, probably nothing too dumb for the tourney.
>>
>>669455
Command armor at it's base is pretty much a extra armor and HP bar. That can get pretty rediculous at higher levels and if you decide to just use them for thrusters then weight is less a issue.
>>
>>669455
>Red Siren's crew
Do they have a name beyond "Red Siren's crew" Incidentally?
>>
>>669479
The main cheese about Command Armor is that neither it nor any systems mounted in the Spaces it provides adds to the Weight of your mech (instead representing the reduced mobility by deducting from your MV via its B-Mod).

As your MV and MA are calculated directly from your Weight, it is therefore possible to mount all your heaviest systems within your Command Armor, and create an extremely mobile mech that nonetheless has various systems that would otherwise weigh it down immensely (such as Melee Weapons and Shields).

The downside to this is that if you DO end up getting hit, those systems will be the first to go, as Command Armor is the first to take damage, before normal Armor and then Servos. So, when making such a mech, it is vital to ensure that you will get hit as infrequently as possible (or at least take damage as infrequently as possible).

In line with the topic of 'things that will not be submitted into the tournament', here's something I statted up a short while earlier, expanding on some previous designs:

In terms of systems used, it would fall firmly into the category of SOUL mech, and would therefore actually be highly unlikely to be present at the tournament itself. The sad thing is that it's got the least questionable rules interpretations of the things I'm building right now.

Anyway, proceeding to talk about things quest-related:
1-"Conquering Stations Quest"
We can't just go around randomly and start a territory dispute, so i guess the best plan would be to stealthly secure the factory asteroid, then "estabilish protection" over the Fatima's Ones, to finally starting to going loud with California Station.
2-Rings for wedding
Anyone has an better idea than the "hotblooded way of meteor core forging"?
3-System of Govern
Military dictatorship and Monarchy are different things, some anon already appointed that, but the resumed version is about the different in hierarchy proocedings and the way that tends to develop along time in resolutions about who manages what and why, and "King of the Belt" makes more sense than Pirate "Army" because they stop being simple pirates when then get territory and things, becoming a real state...
And before people go on about what state means... Language is very subjetive guys, and social conventions tend to change a lot with time, ONUs opinion may be word "written on stone" or "letters lost in the wind" after a few centuries from now, so discussions about it without Wong here will probably go nowhere.

Now the problem with the "Elective Monarchy" is that we will need some way to extend noble benefits to peoples without functions in the state if we want to secure it to Roarke's children, and then... We could either create new functions to put them on, or just drop them to their on luck and ability...

And if we want to stop shit from happening where everyone is scrambling for the throne when we die, we hold the election when were still alive and spend the rest of our reign teaching the heir about ruling

Tokugawa style of passing the throne on? Sounds like a good idea.

Could work, but...Wouldn't it be better if each wife had an customized ring?
But if we choose wrong it could backfire with each of them accusing us of favoritism, though.

Good Lord.

More Please.

By the way, how many Mechs are currently lined up for the Tournament?

I remember the Dutchman, the Freebooter, the Gold-Tail, the Spartan and the Myrmidon. I know Brazil made the Elder and that one Meido's Mech but I don't know if they're actually being entered.

I imagine that there'll be a fair slew of other "Normal" Mechs included and a number of mercenary and Pirate competitors. Do you think we'll get any Military pilots since the UJCIDF will also be there under truce?

Does anyone else think UJCIDF is too many letters?
>>
>>678547
I'm gonna end up making one I just haven't gotten a chance to do it yet, I do want to know what Wong's rule on characters though. Like whats the limit on our stats?
>>
>>678547
>Does anyone else think UJCIDF is too many letters?
Same here. I just refer to them as Jovians or Jovian military. Six letters on an acronym is a mouthful.
>>
>>676107
>these suggestions

What the bloody shit, this is straight out of Shadows of Zeon and that...other mecha lesbian quest.
>>
>>678547
>Does anyone else think UJCIDF is too many letters?
I'm more confused by exactly which part of the Defense Force of the Unified Jovian Colonies the Independent bit applies to.

>Do you think we'll get any Military pilots since the UJCIDF will also be there under truce?
If there are, stolen SOUL mechs will hopefully be a go. Otherwise, I'll probably just have to build a machine from Rosita's crew that uses a Shadow Imager, or something boring like that.

As it is, I'm currently failing to make a mech that stabs itself through the (RAM Armor on its) chest to power up its transforming weapon Energy Pool, owing to lack of CP. I could in theory cheese it with even flimsier rules interpretations than I'm already using, but that just feels bad.

>>678488
If you're not up to uploading everything, just show us pictures of what you bought while there.
>>
>>678547
I'm pretty sure were going to get military pilots competing, but they are all going to be spies because we said on the interview this was to recruit people which was a really dumb idea
>>
>>678620
>I'm more confused by exactly which part of the Defense Force of the Unified Jovian Colonies the Independent bit applies to.
I think it's a holdover name from when the Solar System League was just the solar system fighting against Green Men and the like, similar to how it's the Martian Holy Militia and not the Martian Army
>>
>>678566
None of us have actually statted out pilots, just made outlines of who we'd like to have pilot the Mechs and any important details we want to include.

Mechs are limited to 140 CP and can't have things that are too cheesy. So no going overboard on Verniers or command armor and if you have an EMW you need to justify it.
>>
>>678709
Alright, thanks for the info
>>
>>678547
I'm gonna try to make a AC-ish type mech for the tourney.
Gonna try and make Nineball. That is if Wong hasn't already
>>
>>679432
Fucking Nineball.
>>
>>679432
Remember, you only have a 140 CP limit.
>>
>>679604
gotta read through the guide book myself first. first time trying something like this out.
>>
>>679659
140 is almost nothing, its pretty much a bare bones mech
>>
>>679685
so i'll probably at most be able to make the starting AC you get in the recent games. Which generation of AC should model it after? 4th or 5th?
>>
>>679706
I haven't played alot of AC, but my gut tells me to go with 4th
>>
>>679715
What's the height limit? Cause 4th gen AC's got to be around 40-60 ft tall.
>>
When building a custom melee weapon how do you figure out its spaces and kills?
>>
>>680056
Like every other weapon. Each CP is one space. The kills should be shown for Energy and standard melee weapons. 1 CP for 1 kill of EMW, 0.5 CP for each kill of Standard Melee.
>>
>>680079
So a sword with 10 damage with quick and AP should be 20 cp and 20 spaces?
>>
>>680088
Standard? Yes. It would weight 5 tons and you would need to slim it down to have it used.
>>
>>680095
So with space efficency I could get it down to 4sp for 8cp? And the kills would be 5, correct?
>>
>>680115
To get it down it would be 8 cp, yes. However, your kills would still be 10. Still weighs 5 tons so be ready for that.
>>
>>680135
Thanks for the help anon, looks like my mech just makes the cut off
>>
>>680159
Well post it up when you want to show us and we can see what it's capable of.
>>
>>680180
I was going to keep it secret, but fuck it. Here it is http://pastebin.com/wwT3gZS1

I was planning on adding throwing spears but the cp was way to high to have multiple of them. I'll add the backstory and the character's backstory later. It looks like pic related with the backpack, a bigger shield on the left arm and a sword
>>
>>680222
Think the weight is off slightly. Looks to be about 44.5 tons, so that would be 9 cp to get it to 39.5
>>
>>680263
Alright it should be fixed now, turns out my cp was higher then what it was too so everything should be fine now
>>
>>680222
so we just make sure our machines height is reasonable right? probably going to aim between 20-40 ft. gonna go see how tall Kaiser is
>>
>>680362
height is usually based around the weight class of the machine. Medium strikers are bigger than strikers and medium weights are bigger than the whole striker family.
>>
>>680373
And thanks for the help anon, appreciate it
>>
>>680373
Medium strikers are around 20-30 ft right?
>>
>>679722
Don't worry about Height, just build something that feels appropriate.
>>
>>680222
So, no ranged weaponry?

Unless you can make the Huscarl faster, it's gonna get kited by pretty much every other mech.
>>
>>680452
The common mechs in this universe can't fly it seems so having one that flys seems to be unusual
>>
>>680472
I think you might want to compare your mech against some of the others in the Competition.

http://pastebin.com/7EPWmpMY

http://pastebin.com/aMcUdx09
>>
>>680425
Medium striker would probably be the best weight class for a AC build.
>>
>>680478
But the guy in my mech doesn't know these people. He has no idea who is competing in this tourney all he knows is what mechs are common are low level aces mechs.
>>
>>680489
Fair enough.

I kinda just defaulted to 8 MA being the minimum for all my mechs.
>>
>>680493
I think most people do that, I just like playing in character as much as possible. Besides having no real ranged weapons fits into my characters profile
>>
>>680503
Going the opposite way for my build. AC's are built for speed and range with close range holdouts weapons after the ammo runs out.
>>
>>680503
What's the backstory for the Huscarl?
>>
>>680478
Unless I'm mistaken, melee range is stated in the Core Rulebook to be Range 0, so sacrificing 2 Kills for in exchange for range would leave you with Range 2.

Anyone know how Combining Weapons interact Mated Weapons? Can they even be used on the same systems?
>>
>>680678
The quick summary of it is that its an extremely customized Shetland, to the point where its now its own mech, thats been passed down from father to son for about three generations with all of them being mechs.
>>
>>680965
So, the current pilot's grandpa was the one who made it?
>>
>>682295
More like stole but yes
>>
>>682302
Did he fight in the war? Because the Shetland wasn't made til after the war had ended.

And, honestly, it's so far removed from a Shetland that I'm not seeing how it could have possibly started as one. Shetlands are Lightweight police Mechs.
>>
>>682454
He actually didn't fight in the war that much, he was part of the police force on Europa and a few years after the war ended he deserted with his Shetland and joined a merc company. And this mech has been getting consistent upgrades for almost 3 generations so its extremely different from what would be considered a Shetland
>>
>>682717
Hmm, I suppose.

Might want to give us sword some reach while you're at it then.

My cellphone reached its photo limit and i had to transfer they to an laptop memory... So i think you guys will have to wait until i get to brazil...Sadly.

But if i get time to do it in america, i may post the few i still have here, as i will spend some days in Califórnia sightseeing around.

And about the mechs...I created the Walkure(My Main Mech), Two "Elder" Types(And older and heavier one that focuses on dismemberment and an lightier one to grapple and "punch"), The Hussar(An were-to-be pumpkinseed II conpetitor) And the Tenshi(OP and probably unusable for the tourney even if it is under 140CP, with an more resonable "Mirai-Tenshi" variant that is yet to be because and couldn't end it before this trip).
>>678606
Wait... What lesbian mech quest?

And guys... Is the next session today or tomorrow? I'm kind of lost with time variables here.

>in this pic... Fujiyama-chan! ?
>>
>>686902
Next session is tomorrow on the 11th Brazilian-san
>>
>>686905
Thanks Anon-senpai.

Ah, if any of you guys want to use one of my robots(just not the walkure) in the tourney, feel free to do so, i specially recommend the Elder Two, because it can grapple an opponent, take his weapon from him and use it against him...(if wong is okay with it using a humanoid mecha modifier and not the mecha beast one, that would nerf it HARD) what could be pretty funny considering that he is an octopus...
