LAST TIME, ON CYBER DEMON QUEST
Your name used to be John Smith, and you used to be a relatively mild-mannered freelance cracker, someone who steals corporate secrets to trade and deal, in the towering city of Neo York. However, after an apparent job gone wrong for currently unknown reasons, you've been turned into Saurian, a mechanical creature known as a Steelshape; half a ton heavy, about 7 feet tall, and 200% murder-metal.

After escaping from Goetia Enterprises' towering headquarters, the place where you became a Steelshape, you went and slaughtered your way through several pussy PMCs, killed the Steelshape Kajiu, and then were attacked by Steelshape Berserker when you decided to try checking your old apartment.

You narrowly escaped death by punch, and proceeded to eat Berserker. Good meal.

After that, you decided to go to the Edge, the outer ring of Neo York where the poor, destitute, and downtrodden live (you lived in the Digs, the middle middle-class section, and in the center lies the towering Metro). After making a racket, you attracted the attention of four teens: Ava, Liv, Noah, and Cadmium (who goes by Cad). You pretended to be a wild animal sort of thing, but Cad wasn't fooled, sussed out your true function, and you shocked them with your sentience before making your escape.

Somewhere between those events, you also discovered that Neo York is inside a giant dome.

However, before you could leave, Liv begged to come along. You cautiously said okay, and then found out she was a total psychopath who literally has a fetish for violence. You killed some people, filled your stomach, and then asked her who she wanted to die. She said Ava or Noah, and you decided to go back and kill Ava.

Unfortunately, she was dead on arrival, killed by Steelshape Puma, who you engaged in combat and killed, and then ate. You have her very heavy sword as a trophy and memento.

Then, you were attacked by the White Skulls, an elite PMC group with a reputation for killing every and all witnesses, and actually capable of harming you. They used some sort of incendiary liquid to clear out your stomach's contents and force you into a rage state. This proved to be a fatal mistake for all of them.

You killed them all brutally, ate a couple of them, and then passed out. When you awoke, Cad led you to their hangout and home: a coffee shop owned by Cad's parents. You smuggled yourself into the attic, metamorphosed, and then relaxed while Liv fell asleep next to you.

THIS TIME, ON CYBER DEMON QUEST
You've been staring at the ceiling for about 6 hours now before Liv begins to stir. You think she's weird and creepy but it's in a cute way, like a pug, which was always your favorite kind of dog anyway. You wish you had the opportunity to own one, but the phenotype died off an indeterminate amount of time ago, and all that's left is archival videos on the internet. Plus, you're not really rich enough to own a dog anyway.

Slowly, Liv begins to stir next to you. If you tried to creep out you could probably make it out without waking her up. But maybe you should wake her up? Decisions, decisions.

You gently nudge Liv as softly as you can with your palm, so as to avoid accidentally ripping her arm off or something hyperbolically violent like that. After a second nudge, her eyes creak open.

One other thing that you forgot to mention in the weird second person semi-omniscient-but-still-POV narration: Liv is about 16 or 15 ish, which makes her behavior and attraction to you all the more disturbing. Meta-humor for the sake of exposition, yay.

You immediately blank that strange internal dialogue out of your mind. You will never remember it. What? Remember what? Exactly.

"Yes, Saurian?" She says, cutely, as she curls up into a ball next to you, looking up at you. "How did you sleep? Do you even need to sleep?"

"I don't think so. I think I'm not meant to do anything besides eat and kill things to eat." You say, getting up on your legs, stretching, and bonking your horn into the ceiling. Ow.

"You think?" Liv says, raising an eyebrow at you as you hunch over to avoid ripping a hole in the ceiling.

"Yeah. I think." You repeat, as she peeks down the hatch leading from the attic down to the upstairs and gives you a thumbs up. She climbs down the out-folding ladder stair thing, and you gingerly lower yourself from the hatch opening to the floor, trying not to bust it open.

"...Did you... Were you not always like this?" Liv asks, her eyes wide and incredulous, as she checks the windows and the stairs downstairs to the ground floor. It's drizzling, as usual, and she gives you a signal that the store is empty, so you quickly scuttle your way down the stairs, trying your best not to break or crack them, and make your way outside, quickly followed by Liv. A clock on the wall tells you that it's about 3 in the morning.

"No, I wasn't. I used to be a cracker, and then I got an anonymous job that paid well, and in the middle of it, I turned into... Well, this." You explain, as the two of you walk and wind your way through alleys and side streets to avoid being seen. You're not particularly sure where you're walking, or who's leading. You're just kind of... Trucking on.

"Wow..." Liv says, biblical-style awed. You can already see the idea forming in her head, and refuse to comment on it, pre-emptively.

"...Changing topics, what sort of stuff do you know about here? I used to live closer to the center, so I don't know the hierarchies here." You ask, leaning against a brick wall while she fixes her shoes and then sits on top of a dumpster.

"Well, not a lot of people go outside here. I don't know if that's different where you used to live, but most of us stay inside and talk over the computer." She explains. That's... Not really different, no. "There are some people who like to go around and fuck with each other, and sometimes they have guns but usually they use their fists. Cad used to be in one of those gangs until he did something horrible - he won't tell anyone what, just that it was bad. So if we hang around with him we usually don't get pestered. He's... Like you are to those guys with the guns! He's like our local Saurian." She tells you. The local head honcho, huh? Interesting.

"Guys with guns? You mean the PMCs?" You ask.

"PMCs?" She asks, completely confused.

"I guess not. Private Military Contractors. Like the White Skulls I killed yesterday. Guys with face coverings, vehicles, and big guns. They don't come around here?" You ask, answering her question with another question. She shakes her head no.

Interesting.
>>
>>641816
You make that mental note and then begin to run through the implications of it in your head. In order:

A. This area is not watched particularly heavily by the Central Conglomerate.
B. The fact that there were PMCs at ALL yesterday was an anomaly.
C. The fact that not only was there a PMC presence, but one of the elite PMCs, is an even larger anomaly.

Liv stretches her arms above her head, jutting her chest out. You're not sure if she's doing it on purpose or not.

"I-"

BANG

That's a noise you immediately recognize from the previous day - a White Skull's high caliber rifle. The noise is followed up by a lot of yelling, someone screaming about their arm. Your tail immediately flicks to attention as Liv recovers from cringing at the noise, and hops down from her spot.

"Do I still need to answer that?" She asks, sardonically, ducking her head down as you see people in various silly clothing items running back and forth across the street, yelling bloody murder.

You shoot forward and peek your head around the corner, remaining as hidden as possible. Your instinct was correct - you see a familiar, very long and large rifle in the hands of one of the miscreants, who's arm seemed to have been shattered completely by the recoil. He's screaming and carrying on, while a group of people in similar clothing cluster around something else. A pair of legs and a pelvic region, the entire top half completely disintegrated, a fine red mist still settling.

You try to look around for other White Skull rifles, signaling to Liv to stay out of sight, as you climb up onto the rooftop and look around, keeping yourself ducked down. The concern in the streets has turned to rage as both gangs begin to assault each other, with four arms bracing the White Skull rifle as hard as they can before firing again and turning someone else into a pink mist. The recoil audibly cracks someone's sternum and they hack up blood, squealing and wheezing.

Nobody seems interested in finding more guns than they have. Plus...

BANG

BANG

BANG

From all over this part of the Edge, gunshots ring out, far louder than any gunshots have any right to be. You know your amplified hearing is probably exaggerating them a bit, but they all are followed by lots of faint screaming in the distance. The air begins to fill with the sound of gunfire echoing like in a cave as you spot Liv curling up into a small ball and covering her ears.

Someone misfires the gun and it hits a building, the bullet outright goddamn exploding on impact as it hits the concrete, leaving a huge crater in the side of the building. You hear the gang members begin to cheer as they figure out a method to brace the gun with three people and begin firing it effectively.

You grip the wall so that you have something to push yourself up against as you feel steam building up in your metallic insides. It vents almost explosively, aiding in your jump with a loud BANG as the water content inside of your body boils and explodes its way out of the vents on your legs.

For a moment, people are shocked, as you come down flying and hit with an impact to turn the gun's primary holder into a smear of red. You bring your leg up behind you and donkey kick another while your tail conks one in the side of the head to get him away from you, and you yank the gun out of their hands.

Coincidentally, the one gangster who you donkey kicked no longer has an upper torso, having recently decided to replace it with a very large hole. You chop his head off with a karate chop to the neck, and then clumsily fire the gun once into the air, clipping a building's corner and causing it to explode in mid-air like fireworks, spraying down little pellets of shrapnel and buckshot upon all parties present.

The gangsters are frozen completely in fear. One of them has attempted to run away, while another just curls up into a ball in front of you and begins muttering about making it fast.

"Where'd you get the gun, boys?" You growl, causing one of the gangsters to immediately piss themselves in fear. You seem to cause that reaction a lot - it's starting to get kind of annoying but, unfortunately, that is just what people seem to do when they're scared out of their wits.

"D-d-d-demon! It's the demon!" One of the men says, pointing, grabbing something from his pocket, and then looking shocked as a rosary just kind of bounces completely harmlessly off your face. His face goes white and he proceeds to pass out right there. You chuckle a bit - it's funny enough that you decide to NOT stomp on his face, which is a startling decision for everyone involved.

"I-I don't know! S-some tall dude in a big hoodie, y'know, like the old kind of hoodie? The thin kind that, like, wizards and shit wear. He came to our crib and gave us the gun and told us to, uh, 'go to town', homie. P-please don't kill me!"

How pathetic. But, you did learn some valuable information. You think about how you will deal with this situation.

You smile a vile, almost vicious grin as your tail impales one of his friends through the head. You grab the snitch and raise him by his neck as you stomp on anyone who's lying down on the floor - no need to get repetitive, just one solid downward thrust turns their skulls into meat dust. Anyone trying to run away, you gun down.

As you find out, even though you're strong enough to handle the gun's recoil one-handed, you're really bad at aiming. Your manual dexterity is not really that great, judging from the way your new claws work. Still, you manage to turn both deserters into fresh mist, while the other gang just runs away. You don't feel like dealing with them. You let them run.

"Much obliged." You say, and the snitch faints as you gently lower him into a pile of fresh gore. That's definitely gonna leave a PTSD mark.

You have a gun now.

Weaponry is capable of being used by Steelshapes to augment their abilities. Guns use the Dexterity stat in order to aim and deal fixed damage that's almost always unable to be modified, while melee weapons use the Dexterity stat to roll for bonus damage on typical melee attacks. Certain weapons may also have bonus effects. Almost every weapon made for Steelshapes is unusable by normal human hands - exceptions will be noted.

Current Weaponry
Puma Blade - Roll 9 or higher on DEX for +1 damage, otherwise, -1 damage.
White Skulls Anti-Cyborg Rifle - Deals 1 damage. Can destroy weak cover.

You turn around, lick some of the blood off of yourself, and get moving. Liv slips out from the alleyway and begins trailing behind you as you sulk your way across the streets.

You suppose that they're looking for you. Now would be as good a time as any to go public and make a name for yourself.

"Apparently a tall man in a robe is going around giving people big rifles. What do you make of it?" You ask, not turning your head as you head towards the sounds of screams and gunshots. Your walking speed is at her jogging speed, so she starts doing as such to keep pace with you.

"I think someone's trying to get your attention. They don't need to kill the gangs because the gangs only cause trouble with themselves." Liv says, trying to reach out and grab hold of you, but you shake her off.

"Try to stay back. I don't want more casualties than I have to - " You say, before you get pegged with a bullet that dings right off of you. Another gang of hoodlums in loose clothing and baggy pants.

"It's the demon! Get 'em!" They say, filled with bravado, as Liv gets your point and backs away from you. You see the flash of a barrel and get pinged with a bullet that bursts in your flesh, tearing a small cylinder inside of you. One person holding the gun and trigger, a second person behind them, grabbing their arms to brace it, and then a person each steadying the gun.

Luckily, they hit your forearm, so it doesn't hurt too much. One more shot and it'll probably start to hurt.

"Now, now, boys. Let's be reasonable." "Don't worry, I won't kill you." You say, smirking the best your malformed mouth will allow you to do so, as you grab two of them by the head, and squeeze. Splat. Just like a pimple. You pull the gun out from underneath them with your tail and bring it into your bloodied hands before snapping it over your knee like a twig. Well, it doesn't snap, but it bends into a useless 90 degree angle, which is good enough for you.

"You just...!" The man says, as you grab someone else's head and pull it out by the spine, and then whack him with it. You find that surprisingly cathartic, and he shuts up immediately as a spot of drool rolls down his chin mixed with blood.

Once the shock's worn off, everyone starts trying to scatter except for the person who was originally wielding the gun. Your tail works overtime, knocking into shins and causing people to tumble to the floor as you grab one by the shirt and fling him into the wall, causing his spine to snap and his body curls up instantly before going completely limp.

You hope he died, because if not, he'll probably be paralyzed for life. The rest of them you finish off in increasingly less-brutal ways, mostly head stomps, because they're quick and efficient and you're looking to get work done.

"...But she will." You say, turning around as Liv peeks her head around the corner with a psychotic grin. She scavenges around the ground for one of their pistols, grabs it, and aims very poorly, nailing the guy in the side of the torso. He begins to wail, as she fires again and misses again.

"Gosh, my bad! I'm new to this whole "killing people" thing." Liv taunts, squinting one eye, sticking her tongue out of her mouth as if she's focusing really hard, and hitting the guy in the hand as he starts screaming louder. It's evident that Liv knows exactly what she's aiming for, and is just being a sadist right now.

Pew. Brainsplatter.

"Satisfied?"

"Yeah, let's get a move on." Liv responds. You notice that you don't hear any gunshots in the distance any more, even the loud, booming ones, which is a somewhat disconcerting silence compared to what you're used to.

"Someone's coming, or watching us." You say, backing up slightly, as Liv immediately begins to quake and does the same. "We have to prep-"

"Oof!" Liv says, as she bumps into something and then bounces off onto you. You turn around... There's nothing she should've bounced off of. You bat around with your tail and hit something into the dumpster.

Something invisible.

SPD vs SPD
16 vs 7 (Saurian Victory: Doubled opponent roll, rolled at capacity, +2 actions)

You charge forward, kicking Squid in the chest and sending him reeling before falling back on your feet, but through the hissing of steam, you hear Liv cry out. "Don't move, or the girl gets it!" A different voice says, cutting through. You've outsped Squid completely but the click of a gun tells you that you weren't fast enough to kill Squid before someone could get behind you.

"Turn around and back away from the arms dealer. Get closer to me." The voice says, light and childish. Potentially feminine, but you can't tell. It's androgynous, at the very least.

Aries is holding Liv hostage, arm around her waist. She looks conflicted, a mixture of fear and arousal on her face that you can tell she's not a fan of, but can't help. Aries' snout is pressed into her neck, digging a small cut into it, while her pistol is held up to her own head. His other hand has a second gun in it, much larger, but still recognizably a pistol - it looks like a gun made for someone with gigantism, with an oversized barrel pointed at the ground. "Your fight's not with him. Let the Squid go, Demon." Aries says, growling at you.

You're fast. You're still running on the steam that helped you kick Squid in the chest.

But Aries is faster. You tackle the two of them as he pulls the trigger, sending the shot wide but streaking across Liv's cheek, cutting a wide gash in it and burning a part of the side of her face. You grab Liv away from him and kick him away as he fires again, narrowly missing an important spot and streaking across Liv's stomach, the bullet cutting a line across her stomach and navel and pinging off the ground. One final bullet pings her through the stomach, passing right through and tinging on the concrete behind her. Liv gasps and kneels down on the ground, clutching her side - if you were just a little slower, you don't think that would've ended well. "Kill him!" She screeches, hugging her body.

You charge at Aries, as the small, feeble looking Steelshape whips out his actual gun, the large one in his other hand, and uses both hands to fire at you. Bullets ping off of your body, sending dull, thudding pain into you - it hurts a lot more than a normal bullet, but he keeps hitting your armoring, and bouncing off of you.

Aries is nimble and skilled with his motions, but he's not nearly fast enough. His gun strikes you up the head and bounces off, bursting into shrapnel in the air and flying off into the distance. You open your mouth and punch a hole in his eye with your tongue, causing it to begin leaking blood before your neck extends itself and you bite his arm off, crunching metal in your teeth. He screams and you bat him away, ripping his arm off entirely and spitting it out on the ground.

17 vs 1d8 (Saurian Victory: Doubled opponent roll, rolled at capacity, +2 damage)

You grab Aries's head and he shivers. You bash him into the wall and watch as his skull case slowly craters the bricks once you start bashing him in over and over again, watching his lower half flail around, before ramming a fist through his skull, ripping open his stomach, and then grabbing both his horns and tugging.

With a hard, metallic squish, you rip him completely in half.

Vertically.

Panting, covered in ichor, you turn around to MOTHER FUCK.

Squid and Liv are both gone, with a trail of blood going up the wall and out of sight.

Wait, Squid used up his cloak and we're MUCH faster than him. I think next time we should give chase - he has no abilities that would allow him to outrun us, only outhide us, which he's already used. Plus, he couldn't have gotten too far away because we spent about 10 seconds beating into Aries.
