>Hello! I'm another dumbass who wanted to make a quest and so I found my way here.

>My knowledge of 30/40k is not perfect, far from it infact, so feel free to point out any glaring inconsistencies that arise.

>The mechanics are very loosely based off of Dark Heresy- so it'll be a 1d100 roll under style. This might change in the future as I assess my options.

Without further ado...

You are being created, it’s quite an odd sensation, though perhaps that’s because you don’t have many sensations to yet weigh it against…

However your creator is bestowing you with a few now, filling your mind with vast experience and intuition, though most of it is hidden under the surface, waiting to reveal itself.

You try to prod at them momentarily, before realizing the futility- perhaps it will be easier later?

Ah, now you’re being given something special.

Your creator carves a piece from himself and places it within you, so that it might strengthen and nurture you and you it.

Pick one:
>A part of his vast knowledge and intellect.

>A fraction of his will.

>Some of his empathy and understanding.

This would make sense for one of the missing ones, it's not really one we see portrayed in the others
>>
>>625709
isn't a fraction of his will going the pskyer route?
I thought mine was something other then being retarded.
>>
>>625696
>Some of his empathy and understanding.

As far as I know Sanguinius and Vulkan are the only two primarchs who ever exhibited notable empathy, and even then, not that much. Sanguinius was aloof and Vulkan just had a level of empathy that most people would call 'normal'. Arguing for uniqueness here.
>>
>>625720
I thought the Will choice was the Dorn or Mortarion route. I'm game to switch if we don't become a huge psyker.

Y'all are a bunch of faggots if you don't seek to prevent the fall of the empire via love and empathy.
>>
>>625769
I'll never stop anon! Neverrrr
>>
>>625782
Yeah, but it's the Emperor's love and empathy. Ask Lorgar or Angron how much he's got to give.

Can we please, please just agree that all writing regarding the big E is terrible because it makes him look like a retard without exception? Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy some of the books, but that doesn't change the fact that the way the HH series characterizes him makes almost anyone a better choice for leading mankind by dint of not being a stupid psychopath. I've always wanted a quest where most of the events of the HH are rewritten for that specific reason.

>Some of his empathy and understanding.

Your creator is extremely careful, slowly and with unimaginable skill he grafts the piece onto you, bonding it to your very being.

As it takes hold a connection forms and you suddenly begin to understand the hopes and dreams of your previously unimaginable creator.

To forge an empire from the shattered remnants of a lost people, to lead those people to a golden age they deserve.

That all men deserve.

The satisfaction he feels as he gazes upon you is palpable, and it fills you with a sense of pride that you might aid him in this noble goal.

His presence disappears for a time, occasionally you sense him briefly but never for long.

It does not bother you, your father has an unimaginable weight upon his shoulders, one that you hope to ease.

And then something grabs you- something distinctly different from your father, your confusion is quickly supplanted by fear as you feel the utter wrongness of the being that has a hold on you.

You try to struggle with your own will against it- desperately wishing for your Father to appear and strike it down.

Appear he does- his anger absolute and blinding, drowning out all other sensation, relief floods you for a moment before you are suddenly… moved.

You awaken an unknowable time later, the memories of what has transpired torn from your mind, with only one thing to do as you hurtle through space- look upon your new home.

What do you see?

>A desert world, spotted with great lakes and rivers.

>A world of metal spires and glass.

>A planet almost entirely covered in a lush and green jungle.

It's pretty much up to Deeman to refluff the Emps if he wants it to happen. I was just arguing that if the writers were competent the Emperor wouldn't have been so heartless, and therefore our primarch doesn't need to be heartless because we don't suck like the writers do.

>>625845
Ecology influences development of culture and religion... desert with lakes and rivers sounds similar to Saharan Africa and Mesopotamian peninsula, but the Thousand Suns already have an Egyptian theme going. Jungle could be central/south Africa ala the Congo, the Brazillian rain forest, or the southeastern Asian jungle in Vietnam. Industrial world is industrial and can go towards any culture produced in such an era.

Voting for desert with rivers. I'm game for a Mesopotamian civilization. C'mon New Babylon!

Mesmerizing storms of sand whip across the surface of the planet as you descend.

Luckily it appears you’ll be landing in a calmer area, though a distance from the lakes and rivers seen before.

Bracing yourself you and your ‘craft’ easily survive reentry without disintegrating over your home, and the great dunes provide a cushion for your pod to land in.

Still your pod was never designed for such stresses, which is made evident by the way it crumbles and shatters as it crashes through dune after dune before finally embedding itself in the sand.

By the time your craft grinds to a stop you're entirely unharmed- it seems you’re made of sterner stuff than even the pod was.

With intuitive ease you wrench the large metal clasps holding your pod closed off, revealing your homeworld.

A trail of glass traces your impact and refracts the light of the bright red sun above.

Around you a great deal of sand has been displaced revealing an unknown mysterious metal cylinder from under the sand.

You have only a few moments to contemplate it's flashing lights and your position before you hear sounds- voices.

They chitter in a language that seems vaguely familiar, and you can tell they are curious by their tones, but you cannot yet understand them.

What do you do?

>Hide, while they seem innocent enough you cannot be sure their motives for actively looking for a fallen spacecraft.

>Calmly take a seat upon the remnants of your pod, though you cannot understand them you can try to project feelings of welcomeness and greeting.

>Calmly take a seat upon the remnants of your pod, though you cannot understand them you can try to project feelings of welcomeness and greeting.

Cresting over one side of the sand crater made by your descent appears a lithe dark skinned woman and broad shouldered man- both dressed in flowing white garments.

The two are being followed by some kind of pack animal with a variety of technological bits and scraps strapped to it by a net.

Both freeze as they spot you upon your craft- the woman's eyes widen with curiosity and intrigue, while the man's narrow with suspicion and he steps forward in front of the woman.

Both begin to rapidly exchange words and your mind races to understand some of them.

"but a child!" says the woman, a mocking tone in her voice.

"A trap." hisses the man.

For your part you simply remain seated, leaning against the pod carelessly, both hands easily visible and lax and a smile plastered on your face.

The bickering continues for a moment more, before the woman pushes past the man and approaches you.

Even as you try and parse the words you realize she is introducing herself

"Inanna" She looks at you expectantly- a hand held out.

You begin to shake your head before a whirring sound begins to pick up and fill the air.

Their faces instantly flash to fear- the man yells something, almost certainly a curse.

Out from the ground snaps a large metallic object with an elongated barrel, scanning across the crater.

A weapon, your mind helpfully supplies, one that intends to kill you and these innocent people.

You have to act.

>Throw the woman behind the pod and dive for the man- if you can survive atmospheric reentry you can surely take whatever this thing can do.

>Throw the woman behind the pod and rush for the turret- you might be able to reach it before it finds a target.

No.

These people will not die simply because they chose to seek you out, because they chose to indulge part of what makes them human.

With no thought or flair you snap for the woman’s hand, pulling her back to the other side of the pod and using that momentum to send you running towards the man.

Your super human muscles flare, sending you lurching forward towards him- he’s already begun to move the other way- no doubt to provide a distraction for the woman.

Your heightened senses track every sound as you move- the munition entering the chamber, the descent of the firing pin, the explosion and whistle as the machine begins to fire.

Relief and pain surge through you as you reach the man before the first bullets can arrive, he’s larger than you but you still manage to shield most of his body- bullets rapidly embedding themselves in your back.

He’s staring down at you with wide eyes- completely frozen in shock.

Nearly half a minute passes before the bullets stop and the machine clicks rapidly, signaling a lack of anymore munitions.

The pain has begun to subside but your body is heavily fatigued from the wounds- you start to slump but the man breaks from his shock and supports you while shouting.

“Inanna! Get over here and help me!”

You’re lead back over to the pod where you take a seat- Inanna frantically checking over your back, the man keeping a firm hand on your shoulder- Inanna speaks her voice filled with awe.

“How are you alive? And healing so quickly? Look Namu!”

Namu keeps a hand firm on your shoulder- holding your gaze as he speaks.

“Please, tell me the name of my savior, child.”

You focus on the idea of name for a moment, looking for something to answer him with…

“Perhaps you are without name? Still- I would like to call you something… Coron, if it pleases you.”

You sense that he is simply trying to keep you focused, and alert, rather than panicking over your wounds… but still you will answer him.

"Coron... yes, that will do."

The man smiles- he has cleaner teeth than you imagined he would.

"Good to hear, Coron. I am Namu, and this is my... sister Inanna. We are scavengers of the sands."

The sound of metal plinks are heard as bullets are pushed from your rapidly closing wounds, hitting your pod as they descend.

"I am sorry that I almost resulted in your injury."

Your apology causes Namu to laugh heartily, his face turning red, forcing him to spend a moment regaining his composure before he speaks.

"Think nothing of it, the sight of a comet falling to the sands excited Inanna- to find a child of the sky as well? Truly a marvel worth investigating, one that we let override our better sense. Next time we will be more careful."

As the 'excitement' settles, adrenaline fades from Inanna and she embraces you from the side, spilling out sobbing thanks for saving Namu and herself.

Unfortunately I've gotta stop the adventures of Coron here for tonight. Didn't get quite as far as I hoped we would as a result of 4chan's posting getting borked midway through.

I should be back here Tuesday for another length.

Feel free to post questions and comments- ideally I'll be able to throw something up about the emperor and his beliefs on xenos and some other things.

Pic related is how I picture Namu- obviously more appropriately dressed for the desert.

Sounds good man, see you on Tuesday
>>
Game should start within the next hour and a half or so.

Thought I'd throw up some quick thoughts on Xenos/Angron- feel free to point out flaws in my logic/knowledge of fluff.

The Emperor on Xenos:

For the thousands of years before the fall of humanity the Emperor was largely neutral between humanity an reasonable Xenos- favoring humanity simply because they were ‘his’ and xenos were ‘other’. As a result the Emperor had no qualms when the GAoE humans established Xeno-protectorate worlds and generally humanity got along with the nice ones and blew the fuck out of the mean ones.

Skip forward to just after the unification wars, Terra is united and the Emperor is striking out to recover and rebuild humanities empire, what does he find? Almost every Xeno race that coinhabitated with humanity seemed to immediately turn its back when the going got rough and suddenly humanity wasn’t the big boy on the playground anymore.

The circumstances are bit more nuanced- lots of factors like any particular races inability to assist humanity, fear of what could cause such an empire to fall, etc etc. The point is the Emperor saw race after race ‘betray’ and he grew bitter and sour to those outside humanity.

So, during the early years of the great crusade he was heavily anti-xenos, but didn’t go so far as to enforce a ‘kill all xenos’ policy on his sons during their compliances, instead opting to let them choose their own direction and actions. Thankfully(in his eyes) most of his sons were on the same page as him. It helped that a majority of the xenos left in the galaxy were total dickheads and 100% deserved annihilation.

In the years after the heresy and the millennia he got to spend reflecting he definitely mellowed out on his xenophobia, not enough to call it a ‘mistake’ necessarily, but that’s mostly because it probably wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the heresy or the state of the imperium at large.
>>
>>632023
The Emperor and Angron/Lorgar:

I’ll be up front that Lorgar’s definitely one of my weaker areas on the lore so I’ll refrain on commenting on him for now.

Angron however is a decently cut and dry case of the Emperor acting retarded, and in my opinion he acted retarded for no reason, not even plot relevant ones, allow me to elaborate.

Even if the Emperor had done what he should’ve done, aka teleport a hundred custodes down there to whoop some ass with his son, Angron still could’ve easily fallen to Khorne. Of course initially the Emperor would have his son’s undying loyalty, but this would be dulled by the nails as were all things except Angron’s rage. Angron almost certainly would’ve refused removal of the nails seeing them a part of his core identity and the Emperor would’ve probably kept hands off.

Angron still would’ve looked upon his father’s ways and found them distasteful- tithes for one example. As a result Angron would be generally dissatisfied with the Imperium, but still play his part because nails make him not really give a shit- here would be the chance for chaos to come in and push him over the edge somehow and get him siding with Horus.

Now, in the ideal scenario Angron stays loyal, the problem is he still has the nails and without his sudden ascension to Daemon primarch to say ‘Fuck you’ to physiology, they’re still hurting him pretty bad and it’s only getting worse. So at some point early on Angron either straight up dies to the nails, or gets struck down by a heretic in a fight.
>>
>>632027
Supposedly the Nails could've been removed by the people on Mar's and also the Emperor but his retarded.

In the moments after the assault Namu helps his sister regain her composure and you set off to retrieve the humped pack animal which had fled over the dunes when the gunfire began.

You find the beast not far from your crater, behind another dune, looking rather stressed about being seperated from its owners.

The domestication of these must be thorough for it does not flinch from you as you approach- though you take delicate care regardless, carefully coaxing it to follow you back.

Follow it does and by the time you have returned Namu and Inanna are animatedly discussing between themselves-

"Is it worth the risk Namu, when we can just turn back and go home? What if there are more machines like the one that almost killed you?"

Desperation begins to leak into Inanna's voice and Namu sighs.

"It is possible- likely even. But tell me Inanna, how often is it that you find something still functioning and so large?"

Namu gestures between the meters seperating the inactive turrent and the pillar of metal you saw as you first left your pod.

Inanna replies "Not often..." unable to deny the truth.

"And with Coron with us, what risk is there in digging this machine out from the sands?"

Uncomfortable with eavesdropping any longer you crest the sands, clearing your voice as you do.

Looking appropriately scandalized Namu turns to speak to you.

"My apologies friend, I don't mean to say that I only desire to use you for your...abilities. I have no right to ask anything of you, but this is an opportunity rarely heard of- if the defenses on the outside still function imagine what could be contained within?"

It seems that Namu truly believes that this machine's discovery could be a great boon.

>I understand- I've gathered that this is something of an oddity and I'm willing to help you unearth it. Though I'd prefer if I was the one to search it, you need not risk your lives pointlessly.

Wait? What clothes is Coron wearing? Is he butt nakid?
What age is he too?
Or will this be all revealed as the plot progresses? Getting a Jojo Bizarre Adventure vide from this, even though I neither read the manga or anime.
>>
>>632377
Coron's actual age is unknown to you, but he appears to be an oddly proportion 10-13 year old- with inhuman strength and toughness. And yes, he's but ass naked still.

Sorry about the wait- almost all typed up now.
>>
>64, 4
So you don't find much in the way of extra valuables, but you are technologically savvy enough to get the true prize...
It is Inanna's turn to sigh

"You are too kind Coron! You can't let him work his charms on you like that."

And another smile from Namu.

"Again, thank you."

Inanna seems frustrated momentarily but is unwilling to argue any further.

First you inspect the pillar itself- realizing now that the machine seems to be upside down, connections form which tell you that this is some kind of diagnostic tool- meant to descend from an air craft to someone maintaining it.

Unfortunately this portion of the machine seems useless to you now, corroded by the sands.

With nothing else to do you begin to dig- exposing the metal carapace that forms the vehicle.

By the time you unearth what appears to be a closed loading ramp you estimate the machine is atleast 15 meters in length- some kind of troop or cargo transport assuredly.

Namu retrieves a hefty length of metal from the pack animal at your behest- and you wedge it into the ramp and have the two of them take cover behind the crest of the crater.

Your superhuman muscles push against the leverage and with a groan of unlocking servos you pry the ramp wide enough to slide in, revealing an empty hall- with numerous harnesses and seats lining the walls.

And luckily no more turrets.

With a thud you drop onto the metal ceiling of the transport your eyes adapting to the low light filtering in from the hole in the ramp.

Carefully you walk along the metal corridor- moving for the door to at the far end.

Prying it open reveals exactly what you expected- a large cockpit designed for two pilots- a suit is strapped to one of the consoles and the faint discolored blood stains and broken helmet tell you this bird was occupied when it went down.

There's nothing left of 'Sgt. Johnson' anymore however- and you solemnly apologize as you reach up to unstrap his hanging resting place and begin to survey what he had while covering yourself with his former garments.

Unfortunately it isn't much- it seems Sgt. Johnson packed light, atleast you're clothed now. Beyond his suit a small weapon lays on the 'floor'- your mind supplies a name- las pistol, and a quick surveying of it finds it in working condition.

You turn to the control console- intuition telling you how to activate it, a few tense moments pass before the screen flickers on and you begin to survey the information it provides.

Uselessly corrupted- damn!

A moment spent contemplating the broken machine your mind forges another connection, a strong one, one that gives you an idea...

You hands fly across the interface- guided by superhuman intelligence and intuition and in an instant you have done what might've seemed impossible, the console restarts and begins feeding you accurate information about the state of the ship.

[1/2]
>>
>>632498
Apparently you activated the combat protocols when your pod struck the the sands, the corruption and decay in the machine had caused it to delay the activation of its crowd control defenses just long enough for Inanna and Namu to arrive.

What is most shocking however, is the readouts of the various systems.

The craft is still air worthy- if you can get it upright.

Various functions won't work due to the low power, but solar collectors inlaid with the carapace will provide enough energy for a slow flight speed of 50km/hr.

A grin spreads across your face- you doubt Namu expected to find that the aircraft was fully functional.

In a moment you've returned and explained what you've found to them and neither can believe their ears.

"What are we going to do? It'll take more than a dozen men to right it- which I'm sure we could find back in the city, but if anyone unsavory and finds out what we'll have all sorts trying to take it from us. And then we have to hide it!"

You take it that the scavenging business is cutthroat work, and that what you have is beyond rare.

>We'll recover most of it in sand and head to the city and work out a plan there, we all have had quite enough excitement for one day.

>We take the risk- find the men necessary to right it- and come back out here as soon as possible- even if it is in the dead of night.

Namu nods, accepting your course of action, before turning his head to sky.

"The sun has almost reached its peak- we'll be able to make it back to Urak before nightfall."

And with that you collect yourselves and they begin to lead you towards the city Urak.

A comfortable silence falls for a time- Inanna and Namu ride on the pack animal- a 'Makel' they tell you, which you easily keep pace with.

Eventually however the silence drones on for your taste and you have to speak up.

"So, tell me of this city, Urak you called it?"

Inanna and Namu seem momentarily confused by the questioned- before Inanna speaks up.

"Oh, of course, it's sometimes difficult to remember you were only just... 'born'."

She adopts a thoughtful look for a moment, before she begins to speek in a factual tone.

"Urak rests on one of the great rivers, Phraate, I've lived there my whole life so I can't tell you how it compares to other cities, but there are many people like us who scavenge the sands and craftsmen who turn those scavengings into usable tools... Farms too, though those are usually outside the city along the banks of the river."

You digest this knowledge- it seems civilization has a solid foothold here, even if it is living on the scraps of whatever came before.

"And who runs the city?"

Namu's face sours- but he holds his tongue as Inanna speaks.

"Queen Aya holds claim over the city... She is a, ah, detached ruler. Her duties are completed, the farms protected and the streets kept safe by the militia in her employ. She came to rule nearly a decade ago through her great collection of technologies- they say she even has an invisible shield on her at all times which can turn any blow."

Unable to contain himself Namu speaks- voice dripping with disdain.

"She is a witch- how she has not brought the city to ruin already is beyond me."

Inanna looks accosted

"Those are rumors brother!"

The conversation simmers down- but not before you ask Namu to elaborate on a what he meant by 'witch'.

"She twists the ethereal- the realm beyond ours- to her own ends, it is unnatural and invites spirits to torment her and the people she leads. You may not have seen their horrors for yourself, but I warn you they are monsters."

You refrain from commenting any further and the rest of the trip passes in silence.

And a long trip it is- the sun moves dreadfully slow across the sky, but true to Namu's word you see the city in the distance before nightfall.

It is an odd dichotomy of a city- simple stone walls and arches enclose it, but towards the center sits a fortress of metal towering over every other structure in the city.

Foot traffic from all directions in the sands is quite heavy, scavengers returning home with the days findings and you easily merge with the crowd entering the city.

A part of you sings to be in such a place, to see the tenacity of the people living in an unending desert.

But that can wait- Namu takes the lead now, leading your group off the main thoroughway and to an inconspicous clay building.

Inanna waits with the Makel, while the both of you head inside- a large group of armed men wait inside, each clearly not expecting visitors at this hour.

"I've got a job- one of dire importance. I'm willing to pay greatly for any man who is willing to travel the sands with me tonight."

None of the men seem particularly perturbed by Namu's words-

"And what exactly constitutes great payment?"

Namu smiles.

"Any of my wares- I know a few of you have seen some of them before and know that I have quite a few choice pieces... Along with whatever I brought back today."

That gets their attention- and suddenly twenty men have appeared, dressed in heavy garb to travel the sands at night. Namu approaches you as they ready themselves and pick over the scrap on the Makel.

"We must be careful- if anyone follows us... it will be bad."

>Move through the side streets until you reach the gate- avoiding any prying eyes. "We travel light- on foot, and noone will have a chance to spy our departure."

>Leave confidently and nonchalantly through the main thorough way. "Predators hunt easy prey."

Nicely done, you are indeed pretty stealthy.

"We travel light- on foot, and noone will have a chance to spy our derparture." Namu and the men gathered before you nod in agreement with your logic and are content to follow your lead through the winding streets of Urak.

Night has well and truly descended by now- and the cold desert winds have already begun to take a hold on the city.

Luckily this works to your advantage, most have returned to their hovels and homes, abandoning the cold night streets.

Even still you move carefully- yourself constantly scouting every turn through the city, waiting for any prying eyes to pass or turn away.

Under your guidance the men move with eerie silence- your very presence and ability seeming to inspire their own efforts.

You are certain that by the time you reach the gates you are undetected- and though there is still foot traffic through the gate you manage to slip out during a dull moment- back into the sands.

By night the desert is absolutely frigid, luckily you're... whatever you are, and as a result are immune to the cold...

The men however bunch up and begin to light torches once you're well and clear away from the city, cluttering around their radiating heat.

Luckily they don't seem too disheartend by this state of affairs- some even fiddling with the bits they took off the Malek as you march.

Hours pass with spurts of idle chatter, some ask exactly what Namu has found to be so valuable and his reply is always the same-

"You must see it to believe it."

And eventually you come upon the metal beast once again- faintly illuminated by torch light the machine a man speaks up

"Ahh- a very nice find- but what could be inside that is so valuable?"

You smile- "You will see."

Sand is cleared away and ropes attached to fixtures on the outside of the machine- with great heaving work the machine is pulled and pushed onto its side, and then finally upright.

Everyone takes a moment to appreciate their efforts and stare at the almost pristine machine.
>>
>>633089

You grind open the loading ramp fully and enter the machine- bidding the men to follow you.

Their curiosity piqued they do- it's a tight fit for everyone standing inside the transport.

Taking a seat in the cockpit you activate the engines and take hold of the controls- a low hum rumbling through the machine, startling your passengers.

Exclamations of awe and confusion ring through the back end as the aircraft climbs into the sky.

"It works! Amazing work Coron, we will do great things with this machine."

Namu claps you on the back- and the men stare at you in a mixture of awe and disbelief.

"Thank you Namu. And thanks to you in the back, I'd imagine you can see now, can't you?"

Uncertainty, fear, and awe still resonates within them... Maybe you should inspire something more into them.

>Listen- I have seen you men at work- your abilities and drive. You've seen what we can do, what we've been able to find. Work with us and we will achieve greater heights than mere flight.

With great care you rest the bird onto the dunes once more and stand to address all present.

“Listen, I have seen you men at work, your abilities and drive.”

You move amongst them- the crowd ever so slightly parting around you.

“You’ve seen what we can do, what we’ve been able to find. Work with us and we will achieve greater heights than mere flight.”

You slowly descend the landing ramp- and turn to face the men.

Each of which is still taller than you.

Older than you.

And still they consider you words- a contemplative silence falls and the desert winds become the only sounds anyone can hear.

One man steps forward to speak

“I am with you.”

In short order the rest follow- each one pledging service to you.

For now their motives vary, most are driven by greed, though some surely have families to feed and protect.

Either way, you will give them what they want and then you will forge them into something greater, the first to help you reforge the lost civilizations of this world.

The idea seems familiar somehow... though you can't quite place the feeling.
>>
>>633451
Weeks have passed since you first arrived- your dropship hidden among the sands while out of use, you are sure of its safety as noone besides you can pilot it.

At first you operated out of the hovel Inanna and Namu called a home, but various expeditions with your men led by the three of you had recovered a small fortune of technology, which you used to trade for something that could atleast fit all your men inside standing.

Unfortunately you have not made a discovery anywhere near as good as the one you made on your first day.

When you weren't scavenging you we're advising the men and collecting information about this world.

Initially they were hesitant about taking advice from what appeared to a child- but it did not take long for you to reach each of them in their own way and begin sowing the seeds of inspiration within them.

Unfortunately you are no great general yet- so while your men are enthusiastic to follow you, they operate on simple rules and structure.

As far as the world it seems the remnants out there are almost assuredly the result of some massive war- one that ended with the planet being devastated into its current desert state, though information is thin on how that came to pass.

After your time within the city you generally agree with Inanna on the Queen- her 'duties' are done well, but never excelled upon, she sets forward no expansion or growth... It seems like she is devoid of ambition, or perhaps entirely content, you'll need to investigate further.

And then there are the other cities, information is scarce on them as well, but it seems you were lucky, tales of tyrants and wars between cities are common, though details are thin so you cannot be sure what is truth and exaggeration.

There is a recurring tale of a city in the distant East- one made of brutal warriors who conquer without thought or reason, cities conquered are enslaved or razed seemingly on whim...

You can only hope these are nothing but tall tales, but you cannot help but suspect they are more.

You're sitting in your 'workshop' sorting through the various pieces of scrap recently acquired, determine value and use, when Inanna barges in.

"Coron, a militia-man is here to talk to you."

Worry stains her voice, but you calmly stand up and make for the door.

"We suspected this might happen- I'll handle it Inanna."

In the main room stands one of the towns militia- their equipment is ramshackle, but they always have some sort of ranged weapon and plenty of armor adorned in green and blue- the colors of Phraateas, the god for which the river is named and the most commonly worshipped in the city.

"And how might I assist you sir...?"

"Ishtap. I come bearing summons for 'Coron' to meet with the Queen."

He pauses and eyes your stature for a moment.

"And you are him?"

A smirk forms on your face as you speak

"Indeed it is. I would love to speak with Queen Aya- when and where am I to meet her?"
>>
>>633464
Satisfied that you are who you say he nods-

"Come to the palace when the sun hangs over the gates late tonight- the watchers will be expecting you."

You nod and the man briskly takes his leave- once he's gone Inanna speaks up from the other room.

"Namu won't be happy about this."

You laugh-

"He doesn't have to be, the summons are for me."

Inanna sighs

"I suppose it was inevitable... You were curious about her anyway."

"That I was, hopefully I'll get a grasp on her motives...

>What's your strategy while meeting with the queen?

Namu isn't happy about it.

"You must promise me- you may not believe me, but please be on watch for tricks and deceit, I fear what could happen if you're charmed by her powers..."

You level a serious look at Namu before you speak.

"I assure you, regardless of what happens tonight, I will not be charmed into being something I am not. You trust me, yes?"

Namu grimaces before nodding.

"Of course. Please, be careful my friend."

Inanna speaks up as well

"I think Namu's an idiot of course, but still, it's worth being on the lookout. Strange things happen... I mean look at you."

The three of you share a laugh and you begin ready yourself and depart for the palace.

The palace is a massive fortress of metal- almost assuredly military in nature when it was constructed, but it's been centuries since that time, maybe millenia.

Who knows what kinds of technological secrets it holds.

As it is two guards stand stand infront of the massive metal doors- these two actually bear what might be called a uniform, equipped with similar long barreled rifles and flak jackets bearing colors af Phraateas.

You approach confidently, draped in the closest thing to finery that you own, the guards stand at attention- remain relatively lax, it seems Ishtap was true to his word.

"Welcome, sir- the queen is expecting your arrival, if you'll follow me."

The guard that spoke breaks from his post and opens one of the massive doors and begins to lead you inside and throw a maze of corridors.

The lack of flair in the construction supports your theory on the bases origin- though you aren't taken down any kind of structured path, instead passing through multiple doors, which hiss open as you approach, and take multiple turns through the maze-like hallways.

Perhaps you're being diverted away from any odd or 'incriminating' sights within...

Regardless it does not take long for the hallway to finally open up into a larger room, though one that seems to have been created through modification rather than during the original construction.

Carvings depicting a variety of the pantheon line the walls- is she pious? Perhaps these are holdovers from the former ruler.

Another set of doors lies here- and the guard stops beside them and speaks

"Queen Aya awaits you inside."

You nod, pushing the doors open yourself you look upon a long room with high ceilings and a variety of fine furniture, guard standing on either side of the entryway.

A dark skinned woman dressed in simple finery sits on an elongated cushioned chair, she smiles as she sees you.

"Welcome, thank you for coming, please, take a seat."

She gestures to a cushioned seat acrossed a small table from herself.
>>
>>633790
You stride forward confidently, taking a seat and meeting her eyes as you speak.

"So, my queen, why have you summoned me?"

She quirks an eyebrow at your brazeness

"Is it so odd to keep watch on the people of my city? I've heard of the... force you've built and I was wondering what your plans with it were."

You nod sagely, smiling before you respond.

"In the long term I plan a great many things, primarily amongst them is to see this world returned to its former glory by any means."

Shock flashes across her face while you pause-

"In the short term, my lady, I believe that depends heavily upon you."

Shock turns to fear, deep fear, but why if she has as much protection as she should?

You are quite unarmed- though you might still be able to take her, but she shouldn't know that.

"Are you threatening me?"

The guards rustle behind you.

"No, not at all, but if I am to achieve my aforementioned goal I will surely need to work with the cities of this world, I need to understand your wants and ideals if I am to do that."

She calms a bit, but is clearly affronted.

"I quite think those are plain to see, do I not do well by this city?"

You nod along in agreement

"'Well' I think is fair. But this city could be more- I know it, you know it. You're resting on your laurels and I simply want to understand why, when you could have so much more."

A frown appears on her face as she digests your question

"I think you're unaware of what this city faces if it grows much more, we will catch the eye of monsters and be burned."

She must be referring to the Eastern city you've heard of- nothing else matches the intensity of her disdain.

But there's something else... It's personal to her.

"And how do you know this?"

"I have seen- seen reports of them. Whatever legends you've heard they're that much and worse, horrible vile creatures that want nothing more than death. They would destroy me and this city."

Her certainty is uncanny, there's no way she should be this fearful of whatever's out there without having directly experienced it.
>>
>>633792
Ah.

"You are a witch. Whatever that means exactly."

You speak with a simple tone of understanding and not an ounce of disdain.

She stammers, incredulous-

"H-How dare you accuse me of such!"

You wave her off.

"It makes sense, it's why your so afraid. Whatever monsters are out there are witches too, except they've been corrupted somehow. That's why you're so afraid, you have first hand experience with whatever it is they are."

She freezes for a moment, silence filling the room.

"Guards, leave us."

They don't hesitate as they hear the dread in her voice.

You speak with an air of finality-

"Whatever supersititions your people hold, I do not share them, you have done nothing to warrant the title of abomination from me."

Your words affect her ever so slightly.

"I thank you... but you must understand why I am so fearful... It is because I can hear them too. Whatever powers that have corrupted others like me whisper promises of power and greatness everytime I so much as close my eyes."

She lets off a deep sigh

"How am I supposed to protect my people when I can hardly protect myself?"

>It is a testament to your will, your love for your people, that you resist whatever beings tempt you. I will help you- in any way I can- together we can grow this city and then destroy that which threatens it.

"It is a testament to your will, your love for your people, that you resist whatever beings tempt you."

Your grip tightens.

"I will help you- in any way I can- together we can grow this city and then destroy that which threatens it."

A few tears begin to fall from the queens eyes, a slight sob catching her breath.

"Who are you?"

You stand tall- raising up above her.

"I am Coron of the sands and I will see this world rebuilt in shining splendor."

You pause, extending a hand down to the Queen.

He won't have Shit on us. I guess our most pressing issue is the chaos cults on the planet and it seems an abundance of psykers. So we can't go for the ignorance is a virtue route, just need to inform people they ain't gods just emotional and meta physical parasites.

Otherwise given the craft we found I'm willing too bet there is a fair but of Dark age of technology stuff buried under the sands or in catacombs we need too get onto that.

But first let's see if our dropship has any maps or locations marked on its gps ir flight paths, let's uncover an old base.

Keen as hell Dee. What sort of level time skips do you have in mind? Do you plan too run us up too our legion? The hh? Further?
>>
>>637255
Time skips will be used but I'm not exactly decided on how- but for example one idea that I'm toying with is after your victory against the threats of this world I'll give you a few updates to choose some overarching progression/choices to make on the world as a whole and then skip to daddy arriving...

Again that isn't set in stone, but we'll see, might have one to age you up a bit during this 'city' phase.

My ideal is up to the HH or the equivalent depending on how you change the Imperium and relationships between primarchs and such.

Maybe further- but with some luck we'll get that far.
>>
>>637269
Oh, and turn length will also change- when you're out conquering the stars for daddy turns will be in years and cover the individual compliance of worlds/sectors you're present for and/or whatever else you happen to be doing during that time.
