Recently: You and Robin have battled and battled, and you're both down to your last Pokemon. This is it.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game. Weak moves tend to be quicker.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

Your heart is pounding in your chest. Standing still is almost killing you. You feel like you need to run or punch a wall just to bleed off some of this excess energy.

The arena is lighted muddied. A few pillars lay knocked over. Sylveon stands on his side, planted and determined. The look on his face mirrors Robin's own.

“We’re here at the Pokemon League Championship battle on a beautiful autumn afternoon.

‘That’s right, Chip. And the air is thick with anticipation. Kat and Robin both have one Pokemon each. We’re really down to the wire here.”

Your hand rests on Devon’s Pokeball. He’s fresh, strong, and ready to go.

But a thought occurs to you. Robin is expecting Devon. She probably has a plan. You still have a large selection of Pokemon you could use that could really throw her off.

We have syncro
And if I remember correctly type advantage
Robin needs to have a really good plan
>>
>>619464
I think she is gonna show us who the real status queen is. With Toxic, Swagger, Protect, Wish.
>>
>>619494
We are both neutral. Fairy beats and resist Dark, but Fire resist fairy. We have Sludge Bomb, but who knows what the hell she has in store.
>>
>>619501
Oh okay
For some reason I thought tha dark beats fairy
>>
>>619510
Sadly no, I do hope our Synchro Evolution gives us a bonus against stuff like confusion though. Otherwise Swagger is gonna wreck us and our only having Thunder Fang as our non resisted physical move.
>>
>>619442
>Throw out Devon. It’s not even a question
>>
>>619510
Hell no its the other way round. DESU she has the type advantage.
>>
>>619524
It's Fire that resists Fairy, not Fairy that resists Fire. We still have Fire Fang unless I missed something.
>>
>>619531
She explicitly doesn't, fire resists fairy making her attacks neutral.

Our primary attacks on her should be fire moves and sludge bomb as sylveon doesn't resist either of those.
>>
>>619536
I said Fire resist Fairy, and no we don't. We have Thunder Fang, Bite, and Counter as our physical moves.
>>
>>619510
Wait, now I'm even more confused, how dose fairy's weaknesses and strengths work? Is it because of the fact that the big bad spooky evil man always gets beat and dragons always get killed in fairy tales? If so,why do they resist bug?
>>
It’s not even a question. Of course you’re going to use Devon.

You see Dark Kat frown from the side and fade away for now. She couldn’t resist.

Your hand picks up and throws Devon’s Pokeball. You toss him a little harder and farther than intended. You’re really feeling the adrenaline.

“Go, Devon!”

The mighty Houndoom springs forth. He looks exactly how you feel. Eager, but also a small feeling of wanting to throw up. But mostly eager.

He lowers his head to get ready to move.

Sylveon is a Fairy type, and Fairy is super effective against dark. But Devon’s also a Fire type, so that cancels out.

The weather is warm and the sky has some light clouds, but it doesn’t quite seem sunny enough to get Solar Power in effect.

Your synchro, or empathetic, mega evolution is also on the table. You need to mega-evolve first, and then you can go a step beyond that after. It’s also helpful to keep Devon focused. Of course, that relies on you yourself being focused.

Sylveon can’t be judged by how cute it is. It’s got absurd Special Defense. Even if you didn’t know a thing about him or Robin, you can see it plainly on his coat. You’ll need all the power you can muster to really make an impact.

Devon's back paw gets slightly more weight put onto it. He's timing his attack for when you usually give your command. He knows you really well.

>Ember, and move Devon by a knocked over pillar for partial cover
>Flamethrower
>Dark Pulse, not very effective, but has a chance to flinch
>Counter, hit back twice as hard when Devon’s hit with a physical attack
>Bite, Get in there and try to flinch
>Thunder Fang, flinch and paralyze chance
>Sunny Day, bring out the sunlight for Solar Power
>Nasty Plot, increase that special attack
>Sludge Bomb, super effective poison attack!

And
>mega evolve
>don't mega
>>
>>619546
Don't even try thinking about it, there is no 100% reason. But my theory the bug thing is because in most lore the fairy folk are riding and controlling bugs.

Poison and Steel are opposed to magic and whimsy I suppose. It's cold realism represented by technology and chemicals.

Said whimsy is unafraid of Dark. It's too pure and nice.

But yeah, not sure for the rest.

“Light Screen!”

“Sludge Bomb!”

Devon starts to mega evolve. He leaps forward to the left, forward to the right, digs his feet into the soft mud, and finishes. A dark purple energy gathers in his mouth and he unleashes it as a stream of intense toxic energy.

“Block it!”

Sylveon throws up it’s ribbons to protect itself. But it’s only partly effective. The Sludge Bomb blows into, around, and through Sylveon’s defenses and knocks him back off his feet. He comes to a skidding stop at a short distance.

“Oh! And an amazing block by Sylveon.”

“Indeed, Chip, but look at the state of those ribbons. I doubt we’ll be seeing that come into play any time soon.”

He’s right. That was a major trump card and you blew right through it. Sylveon also looks fairly hurt and poisoned to boot. That attack really gave it a lot of punch despite the guard.

Sylveon isn’t dissuaded. He throws up his Light Screen.

You grin.

“Good job, Sylveon! Stay strong!”

Sylveon nods. You see the poison take it’s toll.

“Super Wish!”

“Thunder Fang!”

Devon rushes forth. You can feel his excitement as he leaps over small obstacles, muddy dirt and sand, and right through the Light Screen. The feeling of going forward and feeling the wind rush over your face consumes you. All four of your legs feel the ground as you land. His heartbeat becomes yours. You can taste the fur when Devon bites Sylveon with Thunder Fang.

Sylveon cries out and eventually kicks loose. He quickly but calmly closes his eyes and makes a wish.

“Oh! Sylveon’s really in a bind now.”

“Indeed, Chip, and look at Devon. That’s no ordinary mega-evolved Houndoom. He’s... he looks a lot like Kat.”

You look past Sylveon to Robin. She’s confused, cornered, but not giving up.

Somewhere in the back of your mind, you’re wondering what a Super Wish is.

“Thunder Fang, again!” You hear yourself shout.

“Protect!”

Thunder Fang bounces off the protective bubble around Sylveon, sending Devon bouncing back. He lands harmlessly and sneezes away the leftover electricity.

The Wish comes down from the sky as well. Instead of going directly for Sylveon, it bounces off the inside of the Light Screen, changes colour, then hits the pink Pokemon. Sylveon regains a large chunk of health and becomes cured of it’s poison. It’s gone from barely up to looking pretty good again.

“An amazing comeback by Sylveon and Robin. Looks like it’s not quite over yet.”

“Indeed, Chip. That Light Screen looks extra handy.”

“But Kat and Devon still have the initiative with this new form.”

You grin and show your many sharp teeth. Sylveon may have healed up a bit, but you can still lay on the hurt.

They do suck, but Gobble is usually pretty nice about how bad it is. And we got a 91 also, so it can't be THAT bad.

>>
>>620486
s'why I was against adding dice to this.

It needs a more comprehensive set of dice rules, like 3d100 for accuracy, crits and move effects.

but hey, old complaints
>>
>>620535
Well kinda hard to change rules in the middle of a quest. Gobble also said they were looking into changing how the dice work for future stuff. But just like us getting a 100 wasn't the end, I doubt a 1 will be it either.

Nasty Plot! That’s the ticket to blowing through Light Screen! You try to concentrate on the active Sylveon as it dances around. He loses track as the little adorable Fairy type leaps away, using Substitute.

“Nasty Plot! You can do it!” You hear yourself shout. The world becomes confusing and weird. You’re not sure where you’re standing. Are you there, or are you watching Devon there?

Robin takes the opportunity to fire off two Trump Cards. they lands among the stone pillars, knocking one over. The crash seems to get through to you and you refocus. She probably could have hit you with one, but she seemed to prioritize using it twice and not aiming instead. She’s obviously been practicing using that move in quick succession.

Light Screen shouldn’t be up much longer

>Try Nasty Plot again! Be ready when Light Screen goes down
>Sludge Bomb. Soften Sylveon up and maybe poison again
>Shoot quick Embers as she uses Trump Cards to blow them up in Sylveon’s face, assuming that’s the next move
>Sunny Day instead.

“Sylveon! Trump cards! Again!”

Sylveon fires two Trump cards. As that’s happening, you, no, Devon, leap forward with electrified fangs. He grabs the substitute and lifts it up to intercept the first Trump Card. He times it perfectly.

The second Trump card comes through and hits him on the side, doing moderate damage.

“An incredible block, using Robin’s own substitute as a shield”

“Incredible indeed, Chip. Kat’s shown time and again a level of flexibility that one can’t help to be impressed at, even at this level of play.”

Light Screen wears off and you feel the fire in your mouth.

Devon took that Trump Card well, but you know the next one will be drastically more powerful. She’s used this before. It increases in power every time it’s used. But by your count, the next time will be number five. She'll get one shot at it.

But that’s if she survives the next attack. Sylveon could maybe take another blow, and if he does, his Trump Card will devastate Devon. Devon’s training is almost entirely in special attack followed by speed. Sylveon’s is almost entirely in defenses. That’s why Robin goes out of her way to set up powerful moves.

Maybe you can turn that special attack into a defence. You could aim it at her Trump Card, overpower it, and whatever power that’s left will hit Sylveon.

There’s also the nagging feeling like this is all a ruse and that she’s planning something like a Giga Impact when you least expect it. That sounds exactly like something she’d do.

>Thunder Fang! One more time!
>Sludge Bomb. Try to end it quick
>Dig in and Flamethrower through her next attack (beam struggle)

“Flamethrower! Dig in!”

“Trump Card!”

Both attacks meet in the middle. There’s a colossal smoky explosion. The two attacks keep pushing into each other and smoke flies wildly.

You feel the strain of the special mega-evolution.

Sylveon’s been taking a beating, but Devon’s been throwing out attack after attack and is losing a little steam. Not much, but enough that you can feel it. But he’s still got more than enough left.

Sylveon loses his footing as Devon pushes forward. The smaller Pokemon’s attack gives out and the leftover bits of fire crash into him.

He lands back by Robin, almost out of bounds.

“Oh! And it looks like Sylveon is...wait! He’s getting up!”

Sylveon struggles to his feet. Super Wish helped a lot, but it wasn’t a full heal. Devon’s only taken the one respectable but not incredible Trump card earlier. But Sylveon and Robin aren’t backing down.

If Devon had a move like Quick Attack, you could finish this would a worry. But the distance means even his speed advantage might not be enough.

“We’ve got one last move. Sylveon! Hyper Beam!”

Sylveon gathers white energy that turns pink thanks to Pixilate.. Hyper Beam might be a little weaker than that last Trump Card, but it could still get lucky. At this range, your speed might not be enough to stop Sylveon before he fires Hyper Beam either.

Whatever happens, this is likely the last move for Robin. She could still get lucky, though.

The whole match it's been Robin being clever, then when she got down to one and had a risk of losing she played to our Machismo to get us to fight stupid.

“I believe in you!” Robin shouts.

For your part, you just scream for Devon as he uses Flamethrower. You’re both close enough that words are just a formality.

Hyperbeam and Flamethrower meet in the middle. Another devastating explosion of smoke and dust and blinding lights. You thought this would be loud and unpleasant, but you don’t even hear it, really. It’s a dance of lights and colours. It’s mesmerizing. It’s not a struggle of hate or anything like that. It’s a way of communicating with and through Pokemon. You’ve never felt Robin’s desire to win like this. Not so openly. Even in your most intimate moments, she’s always hiding just a little away, never letting herself be entirely, unequivocally exposed.

You and Devon step back as Robin and Sylveon push forward. You push as hard as you can and feel your voice give out as you scream into the void of silence. But it’s just too much.

Flamethrower suddenly gives out and Devon is hit. The rest of your senses comes back in a flash, like waking up and shooting out of a warm bed.

Devon’s been put back into his normal form, but he catches himself before sliding out of the ring.

There’s silence.

Sylveon’s legs go out and he has to rest. Devon is standing. In rough shape, but he’s not pushing himself beyond what’s healthy.

Robin’s legs go out too, but not from physical exertion.

It’s over. Robin throws up a hand. A tear runs down her face and over her genuine smile.

“And it looks like...yes! Robin has throw in the towel!”

“Kat is the new champion! Kat is the new champion! Kat is the new champion!”

You glance up and see the announcers both bouncing out of their seats like kids.

Man, your head feels light.

Results do not equal intentions. Just because not all of our plans worked out doesn't mean they weren't all earnest attempts at giving our all. Any less than our all and we'd have lost, good rolls or no.

We didn't need to. Just needed to cancel out enough of it to not get knocked out. then she needs to recharge and we can win. That's why it said int the previous update that she would have to get lucky; for us to lose we'd have to get significantly lower on our roll than she gets.

[Flamethrower took a large chunk of power out of the attack. Pixilated Hyperbeam is really, really powerful with STAB. If the gap was larger it could have gone very differently. You run over to Devon, giving him a quick but energetic hug. At least, as much as you can muster. He licks your face. Was he good?

“You were amazing. You were just amazing. Thank you.”

He leaps up on you again and licks your face. You can feel the weakness in his muscles. He’s tired, but he’s too excited to realize it.

The two of you stumble over to Robin and Sylveon. Robin is telling Sylveon how proud she is of him. You can’t see her face.

Your head spins.

Why what? Throw in the towel?

Sylveon had a small amount of HP left amd Hyperbeam forces the user to rest after. Devon could causally finished him as he lay there. It was over.
>>
>>621558
>Say nothing. Put a hand on her shoulder.
>>
Sylveon looks away from Robin and up to you and Devon curiously, causing Robin to do the same.

You pick her up and kiss her. It’s not lewd. It’s sweet. Her arms rest over your shoulders as you lean your head against hers and give a series of quick wet ones.

Devon licks Sylveon. His own friendly, platonic way of showing no hard feelings. Sylveon looks away and casually wipes the slobber off his prissy face. Devon licks him several more times and the fairy Pokemon struggles to push him off with his ribbons, but smiles and makes cute noises.

Robin laughs and kisses you back. Just quick and light.

“What a heart pounding match from two amazing contenders.”

You wipe away a tear from her face and then cup her cheek, pulling her in for something more. Her face is so warm. You open your mouth and use tongue. Things start picking up.

“You said it, Chip. A heart pounding match and a heartwarming end as both battlers don’t let anything get in the way of their relationship. I think we can all forgive a little extra emotional display.”

You lift Robin up and she wraps her legs around you. You run one hand through her short red hair and don’t even pretend that the other just just supporting her butt. You grab a good handful.

The cheers become a little less congratulatory and a little more encouraging for what’s going on.

“Let’s uhh, let’s roll the highlight reel on screen.”

Your head becomes really light and you feel yourself slipping backwards. Instead of crashing onto hard ground, you find yourself in a grey and silent stadium. A dream world.

“Way to over do it,” your darker self taunts.

“I was in the middle of something.”

She rolls her eyes. “Yeah, disgracing the championship by turning it into cheap porn.”

You’ve had enough of this. “Come on! I became the champion. Robin and my Pokemon love me and you can’t deny that either. Plus even when you count all that stuff people say doesn’t matter like being rich, young, and probably pretty powerful, I’ve got that going too.” You try not to sound like you're bragging. “Admit it. I’m worth something.”

“Yeah. There’s no denying it. You’re actually pretty good, despite how much you suck.”

You laugh. “So what happens now?”

She tries to be casual as she takes a seat next to you. You decide to sit as well.

“What happens now? Well crap. I’ve got nowhere left to go. There’s no more dark corners of doubt unless you want to give me a crappy cramped cell. I have no place here. So that leaves us in an awkward situation.” She leans against you, looking tired. “Let me fade away. I’m done. Let go and accept that things change. I don’t know why you haven’t done it sooner.”

You look her over. There are other options, too.

>Merge with her. Be like everyone else; of one mind, even if sometimes that’s depressing. You’re strong enough to deal without disassociation, now

Work with our therapist and Adelaide and Claire, and even if we do merge with her ultimately, I guess I'll just like it more. You hold her hands and stand up. The world of greys starts to give way to swirls of colours. They become more vibrant and loud as they rush around. You step into each other and feel a warm pulsing sensation. The wind swirls and finally reaches a plateau. Then it’s gone.

You open your eyes again. She’s still there. She’s not entirely black. She has bits of colour and a base shade of dark grey.

“It’s a start. I have a therapist, I know a lot of psychics, two that are legendary pokemon. This shouldn't be something that is cleaned up neatly in once act. I'm going to heal in the way that's best for me, and you, even if it takes time."

She nods, and even smiles. There's a whole journey to go there, and it'll probably be a long one, but you've taken a big step. “Guess you should wake up and keep being a lewd slut.”

That’s good advice. Or maybe just good timing. You find yourself awake in a quiet room that you assume is a medical office for the stadium. Your friends and Pokemon crowd around.

“Jeez Kat! You couldn’t resist being all dramatic, could you?” Clair mocks.

“Hey! Look who’s back!” Vance tussles your hair. Jeanine gives your shoulder a squeeze. Even Devon jumps up and sits over your legs. Robin pushes through and pecks you on the cheek.

“Y-you’d better not do that again next year!”

“Next year?”

“The next championship. You didn't think I was going to let you keep it, did you?”
You laugh. A lots going to change. You adventure is over for now, but new adventures are always around the corner.

[So I’m not really sure what to do here. I was going to give a rundown of how people and Pokemon and the region end up. The referendum for the disputed territory wins. The eastern section joins under the royal family. It was a close one, but Prince Arledge name dropped you a few times since you’re both the champion and a viscountess. You tried to stay out of it as much as possible, but after it was done, you took full advantage of your lands, helping make the Lapras breeding grounds safe with the help of the Slowpoke.

Shortly after that’s settled, Violet approaches you, looking for a project to keep busy while she sorts herself out.

>Get her to escort the Lapras on their migrations, out on the sea
>Get her to work with the Slowpoke and turn the Lapras coastal grounds into a paradise

Having Robin and Kat being in a relationship and constantly trying to take the championship is probably going to lead to them being the strongest Champions this region ever has. They both have constant motivation to keep getting stronger and improving.
>>
>>622150
That actually hurt me physically.
>>
You tell her that her talents would be helpful on the coastal grounds, and she agrees. Her and her Pokemon work hard to make it into a paradise. From cleaning up garbage to moving rocks around to create more shelters large enough for the Lapras to a million other things, they transform it into something a little better every day. Mewtwo even stops in from time to time, although never for long.

Violet spends most of her time there and away from the public. She does end up donating some money and convincing a few high profile people to give as well, but most of her focus is on the reserve. It’s a safe haven for Lapras and even becomes one for other Pokemon in time. The Slowpoke act as generational guardians, very slowly but powerfully resolving issues or enlisting the help of faster people and Pokemon for more time sensitive issues. You feel at ease knowing Violet is there. Robin doesn’t seem to hate it.

As you’re laying down some fencing for the ranch, your dad makes his first appearance since the ship. He sent a letter saying he’d stop by, but that was awhile ago. “I thought you weren’t coming.”

He takes off his hat, finally giving you a good look at him. “I wanted to give you some space and time to celebrate. I figured I’d bring down the mood.” He looks down. “And I didn’t know what to say.”

He isn’t what you pictured. A bit on the scrawny side. Unshaven. He has fancy clothes, but they’re worn down. He looks like an old con-man that went too far too many times. You could see him being really handsome at one point. You can also see where you get your cheekbones and hair colour.

He hands you your next nail despite you never seeing him pull one from the bag you’re holding.

Overall we can't really forgive him for leaving us. Despite how great it all turned out for Kat, she had a lot of miserable years in that orphanage and while it might not be fair to blame him that's just how it is. However we should be willing to give him a chance to start new and be apart of our life now. Maybe one day we will see him as family but it wont happen over night.

Probably during the epilogue.

I get the feeling Gobble will wnat a break and some time to set up the next thing before we start a new quest.
>>
Hey Gobble. You were thinking about a new dice system in the new quest right?

I like someone's suggestion of getting more dice as we gain more experience. Also, I think a good way to mitigate crit-fails after a certain level of experience is to make it so that nat 1s take away your highest roll in that set rather than overriding everything. Of course that still means a crit-fail for 1 or 2 dice, but when we get 3 dice a nat 1 will just mean we take the second best roll in the set. getting 2 nat 1s is the only way to get a crit-fail at that point. This way, they still make our rolls worse, but they don't totally screw us over. Also, every character should get a number of dice based on experience so that we don't have some sort fo innate protagonist advantage by having multiple dice.
>>
maybe a dice pool system?
>>
Remember when Jeanine chirped shit about Robin beating us to Vance and we overheard. We need to rub it in her face a bit with Vance.

You just dive right into it. “What was mom like?”

“Your mom was...your mom was beautiful. I’ve never met anyone like her. She was funny, always knew what to say, considerate.” he sighs, looking back into another life. “She was everything to me.”

You hammer in a nail, hard. “So what happened to her.”

He holds the post steady. Not that you need his help. “She liked me because I was a bad boy. I didn’t know it at the time, but looking back, that was the only reason she stuck with a loser like me. I introduced her to...to a different world. It started out fun. We’d go around on my motorcycle, just having a good time. Then dine and dashes. Then...more complicated things. We got into drugs in a bad way.” The fence post wobbles. “Another thing I introduced her too. She took to it harder than I ever would have thought. Once you were coming we said we’d quit, but, I guess old habits die hard. She got scared when she went into labor. Got them from my bad. I should have thrown them away.”

You keep looking at the nail, lining it up before you hammer it in.

He continues. “The doctors saved you. And I...I couldn’t deal with it. I’d look at you and see her. That’s not an excuse-”

You hammer another nail in. “No it’s not.”

“No, it’s not.” He agrees.

“So what have you been doing since then?”

“The Psyduck reverse. Fools Arbok. Selling fake Rhyhorn horn to poachers. Any scam or hussle you can name. After your mom, that was the only thing that made me feel alive. And when you’re deep in a scam-”

“...You can pretend to be someone else.” You drop your hammer to your side and finally look at him.

He looks deeply ashamed, but he forces himself to keep eye contact with you.

”Apple doesn't fall far from the tree huh? Without Robin I'd probably still be doing the same. Maybe if things had gone differently I would have led her down a bad path instead of the opposite...”

You adjusts his hat. “I wouldn’t sell yourself so short. But yeah, you seem to have snagged a good one, there. You know back in my day I would have swindled her right out of-”

“Yeah, me too.” You think back to when you first met. “Look, do you want something a bit more stable? A legitimate job?”
Your dad ends up being not bad at all to have around the ranch. He’s far from perfect, and you catch him sleeping more than once, but despite his slacking he always manages to keep things under control and know where the loose Pokemon are and when they’ll be back. Over time he becomes an essential part of keeping it running.

“So...Violet’s divorced now, right? We’re always passing each other by on the way in and I was wondering if-”

“NO!”

“FORBIDDEN!” Robin yells.
The ranch gets more and more Pokemon, and with the orphanage starting up, you and Robin are running around like crazy. You do always find time to see your friends, though. Vance and Jeanine end up doing well for themselves. Vance takes over the family gym. He’s a nurturing guy and specializes in encouraging people and Pokemon that are too shy or self-conscious into getting in shape.

Jeanine eventually gets her mystery novel out there. But it’s after a long struggle and many books. There was a time when she just couldn’t get anything published and ended up writing erotica under a pen name. Turns out when her and Robin would have a girl’s night with wine and chick flicks, they exchanged a lot of stories.

As a major stock holder, Robin nagged you into actually showing up for a board meeting as Vance’s family gym expanded. You ended up actually having to vote on something. The gym could expand westward, to your home town, giving that struggling little place another economic pillar that might help and being the only game in town, or you could gamble and open another location in the small hamlet that’s forming around your ranch, orphanage, pokemon reserve, and all the infrastructure that’s starting to end up needing. it's the riskiest option, but it'll pay off the most if it works out. You'd be lying if having your friends closer wasn't a motivating factor, either.

>Put a gym in your home town. Give that old place a chance

I'm back from work, great job everyone!

Hey, if I went back and edited this quest into a book format, would anyone want that? Or would it lose too much without the arguments in the background?

>Put a gym in your small growing hamlet. It might get on a map

>>622766
Seconding this, I'm curious how much of the battle went according to keikaku for Robin vs improv on her part.
>>
>>622771
It's a good read without the arguments, but there're parts where it's funny to read as well.

Maybe post it on AO3.
>>
>>622766
Both. A lot of what I was doing was probably overly complicated, but anons were also very good at paying attention to hints and the posts immediately called out when something was fishy.

The dice certainly didn't help, either.

Robin was banking on your paranoia about Ditto to keep you in line when it came to buffing up, and in a way I think that was a factor.

You guys stayed away from the pillars, didn't let her get into the brush and creating enough smoke to make it hard for everyone to see except for her and her eye (I was going to go for that but she never got the breathing room to pull it off). You avoided Gyarados flooding the map and pushing Trunks off. You sniffed out that Golem was Zoroark and Robin never got a chance to Stealth Rock. Just a lot of small things adding up.
>>
>>622722
a bunch of ways. the basic idea is get a bunch of dice made by skill profiecny. bonuses etc and roll them to beat a DC or something else.

one is the old WEG D6 way. lets say kat has a 3 in her dick punching skill. you roll 3 dice and hope the sum beats the DC. the old Star Wars RPG or the Ghostbusters RPG

another is storyteller, a bunch of d10s and try to roll above 7 to get a success, the more successes you have, the better you did. 10s are exploding dice. World or Darkness

or One Roll Engine (ORE). kinda like storyteller. stat + skill to determine your dice pool's size. count the matching pairs.the bigger in the number in the pairs the better/harder you did it (you rolled and got a pair of 10s? BOOM HEADSHOT!. the larger the amount of dice in the pair, the faster you did it. (roll four 3s? your spray and pray method pays off and the enemy is riddled with bullets.). Wild Talents, Godlike!.
>>
>>622771
Book format is nice, easier to read. Certainly, it'll lose something without the argument and comment - but it's still better than not having offline book.
>>
>>622771

You end up doing both. It’s a huge gamble, but if you push aggressively now, you can get established before any rivals.

For a tense time it doesn’t look like it was going to work out. But after a few sleepless nights and some creative but ethical and legal bookkeeping from Robin, they both end up holding on long enough to get out of the red.

Geno and Emma of all people ended up coming down to check things. It turns out Geno is retiring! As the current champion, they wanted to ask about if you had any suggestions for who to approach to fill the Elite Four roster.

Naturally you and Robin bring up Clair’s name. They say they’ve approached her already and she hasn’t given an answer.

Clair’s been a bit out of touch, lately. You feel a little guilty about it being so long since you’ve talked. You know she’s been killing it at her gym. But she’s also apparently been leaving a lot too. Her Lugia egg hatched. Your own Lugia has been flying over a lot. She’s turned out to be quite the playful creature after opening up.

You and Robin call up Clair and ask about what she's’ been up to, and more pressing, how she’s feeling about the Elite Four.

“I don’t know.” She admits. “I felt pretty dirty about the league. And I guess I got over that mostly. But I...” she glares at you both over the video phone, making it clear this isn’t to be repeated, “I feel like I’m just kidding myself when the both of you are there. I’m not in the same tier.”

>Sure she is. Come on down and we’ll battle. You promise not to hold back
>She won’t catch up unless she pushes herself
>Remind her that she was the toughest gym you were at. She forced you to mega-evolve

“What? Clair that’s crazy talk. You were the hardest gym I had to go through.”

Robin nods. Clair was no pushover.

“You guys are just saying that.”

“I mean it. I had to push so hard that Devon mega-evolved for the first time.”

Devon runs by, barking. He’s chasing after Aria.

“And pushing like that forced Kat to become stronger. I didn’t make any progress until I left on my journey because all I did was study fire Pokemon.”

“Robin’s right. Pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone is the only way to grow.”

Clair considers your words. “You guys think I’d be an okay Elite Four member?”

“Uhh yeah! Remember the Normal type gym? You were the one that gave her the advice she needed to get recognized.”

“Okay. Okay.” Clair smiles, but still tries to act embarrassed. “You guys can stop. I guess I do rock. Tell Geno and Emma I want to apply.”

Robin claps. “Good! And if you don’t have to look after the gym, you’ll have more free time.”

You unbutton your shirt casually. “We do miss snuggling with our Clair-Bear.”

Clair laughs. “Oh I see how it is. This is all one big conspiracy because you guys can’t go on without me rocking your world. I guess anything without me just isn’t the same, huh?”

You roll your eyes.

-

Clair did end up applying and succeeding. Most Elite Four members are expected to do some sort of community work. Clair’s was to be a psychic tutor at the orphanage. It was rare, but once in awhile you did get a gifted kid who needed a little guidance. Of course, Clair is vastly more powerful than most, but she knows how confusing it can be.

Over the years your little collection of buildings ended up growing into a real town. Robin did keep her word about taking the championship back from you. And the next year, you got it back again yourself. As time goes on, you can see that Robin is turning more and more to research instead of battling. You stay up late one night as she goes over different academic options. She asks for your advice on where she should focus.

I mean, I'm expecting it, but I'm hoping that they're not actually going to do it, since this is the first, on the surface, legit good organisation that's been introduced in the games that wasn't an off-to-the-side corporation like Devon or Silph Co.

If they do go for the 'they were secretly evil' thing, it's kind of getting into edgelord territory as well, what with the previous instances.

You both agree that cybernetics makes the most sense.

School is intense. It’s not a well explored field, and what’s there requires a strong understanding of biology, mechanical engineering, and computer logic. Robin got really stressed out.

Between that, the ranch, the orphanage, your viscountess duties, and your engagement to get married after she got her PhD, your relationship was put to the test. You broke up.

Of course, that was temporary and you both immediately regretted it seconds after. No relationship is perfect. You got back together fairly quickly, because...

Oh crap oh crap what happened? How could you be so stupid! Why did you say that stuff? You don’t even pay attention as Fel leads you into a locker room.

“Robin? Clair?”

The doors slam. Clair explains that neither of you are getting out until you stop being idiots. You tell her that Robin’s the idiot. Robin says that’s rich coming from you. You of course, counter that you are indeed rich, so maybe she’s not so smart after all since you’re the breadwinner

After a few hours the fighting turns to frantic apologizing. That then turns into a good reason to mop down the locker room.

The three of you spend a wonderful time together until Robin graduates.

The wedding was amazing. Everyone was there. From your closest friends to people like Junior and Eddie and the professor’s assistants.

At the reception though, there was an awkward moment with Clair. She was really happy for you guys, but she was feeling like maybe it was time she excused herself and moved on. She doesn’t dislike where she’s at in life. She’s an elite four member with a good sex and personal life. But she also feels like maybe she should move on and let you guys get on with life.

>You understand. This couldn’t last forever. We’ll be friends from now on.
>Let her go, but anytime she wants something casual, she’s welcome in your home and bed.
>It’s unconventional, but let's make this three person relationship official. For life.

>>623329
>Let her go, but anytime she wants something casual, she’s welcome in your home and bed.
On second thought, I don't really want her to just feel like she's the third wheel all the time. She should be able to find her own life if she wants.
>>
We're polyamorous, right? It's not me, but why let tradition get in the way of love?
>>
>>623377
Give me two reasons why you're against it, legitimate ones.
>>
>>623386
It's possible that she might want more out of life, because promising that Kat and Robin will love Clair as much as they love each other just doesn't really seem plausible.
>>
>>623377
Oh come on. It's in no way a harem. Those are dis-functional because they have a single focal point. In this case they all love each other.
>>
>>623402
well, then she can go her own way if she wants to. We should still offer the official relationship.
>>
>>623401
Kat never really expressed real dedication to Clair, she was a girlfriend but not a love. It devalues everything Kat and Robin went through
>>
>>623329
>It’s unconventional, but let's make this three person relationship official. For life.

We'll get golden ending, dammit.
>>
>>623377
Normally, I'd agree, but there're a few points in favour:

First:

Clair has been in Kat's head and vice versa. That's another level of intimacy above the norm.

Second:

There's been enough time for it to be believable.

Third:

There's no reason why a civil ceremony can't have her added as a partner as well. It's as official as a marriage, just not as public.

This is a rare case of this actually working instead of being cringeworthy crap.
>>
>>623402
I think it's plausible, Clair and Robin clearly got pretty damn close while we were in captivity and it's hard to be more intimate with anyone than we already were with Clair back when we first met.
>>
>>623425
Also, we're viscount. Can't we make it official? Declare law or something. Dunno.

>>623425
>>623427
Also, this.

Like I said, this is a rare case of this working.
>>
>>623454
Just feels like she's been with us near the start. There's been so many moments together and not just in the bedroom. It just seems strange, especially with the moment from apparently years ago when Robin and Clair were dating together when Kat was away. We only got to see one little evening after all and even then Robin didn't want her to feel that it was casual.

You and Robin sit down and talk with Clair. She doesn’t really want to leave, but she figures it’s what she’s supposed to do. But you and Robin don’t want her to leave just because it’d be weird Nothing in your lives has been entirely conventional. Why stop now? We’re all happy, right? And we all love each other.

Clair tears up. You dorks. Of course she loves you.

You, Robin, and Clair live together openly. It draws some attention from kids and staff at the orphanage, media, and others, but you find that when you own it, it’s not that big a deal.

You have a more low key ceremony. Clair looks great in her dress. It’s just close friends and family. Arledge does end up sending you a letter complaining about this complicating things in regards to your title and inviting you to reconsider. Before you can reply inviting him to eat shit, the others talk you down and you craft a more diplomatic response. You have enough influence to pull it off, and he apologize in private.

Weird as it is, the three of you make it work.

You sit out at dawn, watching your Pokemon and kids play. Having a ranch like this lets you keep all of your pokemon close. Levi patiently allows kids to pull on her face. Vlad and Destiny have become close friends and playfully splash at each other. Dan offers rides here and there. Nibbles is a walking climbing structure. Lugia tries to do some storytelling, but the kids keep interrupting and asking dumb questions.

Life is good.

[Alright. I’ll do anything else requested, but I’m out of things off the top of my head]

Fir ends up doing pretty well for himself. His research doesn't have a lot of breakthroughs, but he does establish a strong body of work about mega-evolution that's referenced a lot for papers. He discovers a lot about how Pokemon eggs work and Zubat migrations thanks to Vlad.

Hornbeams stuff isn't really considered officially forbidden, but merging people and Pokemon has only produced stuff like Delmer that nobody else wants to recreate. His other work before he went off the deep end is still referenced and used.

Hornbeam has a life sentence in prison. Over time, he considers himself lucky for it after hearing how a lot of people like him that mess with legendaries aren't as lucky.

Delmer is sentenced as a sane human. He does eventually get parole and lives a secluded life in a quiet town. He doesn't want attention and the authorities don't want him to get any, so it works out pretty well. He eventually mellows out, even if he never entirely gets over his anger problems. He has to be patient with local kids egging each other on to go hear 'the monster's' haunted cabin.

>>623524
Robin's dad never gets back with Violet, but he finds someone else. He turns into an absolute teddy bear when visiting the orphanage. He and Violet end up having a civil if standoff-ish relationship. Robin does reconcile with her parents. Her dad is first, Violet does eventually redeem herself.

>>623677
Well, for backstory stuff, the treasured possession thing and everything turned out having a pretty big impact, so maybe have something similar to that.

You kind of had two sets of character generation with the first original one, then the dream after Kat got poisoned by the Corsola.

For pacing reasons that worked, so maybe have something similar again once the quest is under way.

Maybe refer back to some of the original options from when you started this as well.

People seem to be pretty set on a fabulous guy, but there were some options in the first thread that could go well in a new quest.
>>

>>623701
then make that a DOUBLE DOG DARE

he can't back down now
>>
>>623694
pretty sure the vote swung that way
>>
>>623686
Oh sure. Kat pays special attention to the older kids. The older you are, the less likely you'll get adopted. She tries to give them purpose with the ranch. There's more than one kid with a story like Kat's. Except none of them get ignored.

A huge chunk of the Pokemon from the ranch initially are those rescued from Team Imperium where they couldn't find original owners.Others are from all sorts of places. Pokemon left at daycares. Pokemon that can't be released into the wild for one reason or another. Pokemon where the owners died and there's nobody left to take them.

>>623705
Yeah. I want to have some initial generation off the bat, and then find excuses to do more nuanced stuff over time. I want the initial generation to inform where the character is starting, but let votes dictate where they go. So even if the MC is voted as being X, players can still shift him to Y without 100 threads.

>>623701
>>623709
I'm strongly considering making it a male. I want to have room for a new MC that's different from Kat. Some stuff is unavoidable, but I think it'd be best to not retread too much of the same ground.
>>
>>623677
I have mentioned shota a lot, I certainly don't care much for the fabulous idea. However I like the idea of being a Martial Artist, or basically a male Robin or a no nonsense hot blooded battler.
>>
>>623715
>Kat pays special attention to the older kids
lewd

also seems like we got a good combo waiting to happen here. Once the kids reach a certain age they can pick one of the abandoned Pokemon off the farm and take off on their own adventure

It's more that nobody has actively tried to oppose the discussion of concepts, I think. No more than a handful of people supporting any of the ideas at any given instance.
>>
>>623715

Thanks for running, Gobble! Am frustrated I didn't see this thread in time to participate but that is alright.

Was a very fun and amusing quest to keep up with. Your characterization was very well done and refreshing, as was the Pokemon antics. General Pokemon doing things in the background, or messing around outside of their Pokeballs was greatly amusing. There seemed to be less of that as time went on. A quest of nothing but hanging out with our Pokemon and being a useless tag-along follower would be fun as hell IMO, and at least until story ideas run out. Excellent work with Pokemon Quest, I'm glad I decided to follow it.

In my mind you get to sit on a pedestal next to Humble, Writer-dude, and Mors.

I just wanna say thanks for running this quest. I came in near the end, when dealing with the Regis. But I binged the archive in 2 days and the quest renewed my love of Pokemon. Thanks to it my pals are now playing in a PTU game I run and I got to have fun going over strats whenever there was a battle.

Look forward to the next one, and have a butt.

I also considered that. I want the new MC to have a little more room to grow organically and avoid baggage, though. We'll have some mentions here or there of Kat's region, but my hope is that the new MC can make their own story and legend.

>>623776
Added to the list!

>>623929
Thanks. I couldn't sleep last night because the world felt different. I've moved twice, had a lot of stuff happen, and even recently had a cancer scare. I'm fine, false alarm, but when I went for testing I was thinking "I hope we finish the quest before then"

>>623969
Thanks! And I feel the same way. I'm hoping to bring more slice of life stuff with Pokemon. I still want the MC to be the driver of events because I feel like that gives the most freedom, but I'll try to give characters more agency too. If the MC goes one way and they want to go the other, they'll likely go unless they have a compelling reason. But the islands are small and you'll run into them more often.

>In my mind you get to sit on a pedestal next to Humble, Writer-dude, and Mors.

Oh wow! That's high praise. Humble is why I started. Super nice person. Very funny, too.

>>623972
Thank you. And thank you for your patience during the missing time. That means a lot.

>>624288
Very Well! like all therapy there are some days where it goes great and some days where you take a step back, but Kat has an amazing environment and support network, and a real desire to make it work.

>>624938
Thanks! Glad you could participate. I skimmed a lot of behind the scenes from PTU and PTA.
>>
>>625062
Is Ralts still on the list of potential starters? Because Gardevoir a best and to hell with anybody who disagrees.

Also, thank you for running this. Definitely sits in the top 5 quests I've ever read, though where exactly I can't really tell. You really managed to capture the feel of the Pokemon setting (with a few notable but minor exceptions) and you have a way with words when it comes to the battle scenes. You're really good at building anticipation and momentum in your writing, and then actually having it pay off.

And thanks! That means a lot.
>>
>>625842
Well, good morning from Oz.

Bit of an early start, but didn't want to miss the new quest if you're running today.
>>
>>625842
Most of those starter types aren't even triangles. Flying, Fighting, Rock I think is the only other full resist and super effective line.
>>
>>625801
We had this discussion way back. Spoiling to hell (or being best pals) with a Gardevoir is totally acceptable. If it's good enough for Clair it's good enough for us.
>>
>>625931
What this guy said.

If a Gardevoir develops romantic feelings, that's just fuel for the plot.

And it'd make for great character interaction.
>>
>>625931
>>625968
I feel like Gardevoir is just so common though, I'd rather have something more exotic for our starter. I'm find catching one down the line though.
>>
>>625989
It feels like one of those things that are actually avoided for that reason, and Gobble could no doubt pull it off well.
>>
>>625989
How bout a Larvesta?
>>
>>626082
yes but I'm biased seeing as Volcarona is my favorite poke
>>
>>626082
I could dig that, but then we have a fire starter two quest in a row. Not that it is much of a big deal, just something to note.
>>
>>626082
How about rufflet?
>>
I'm still putting my vote, if its a vote, in the Munchlax camp.
>>
>>626169
I could dig that.
Even if it's not a starter, it'd be a good first catch.
>>
I'm making notes of these Pokemon. I want to start really early. Got a few islands made up. I want to get a good map too, since we'll probably be doing a decent amount of hopping.

I love Heracross so much he is a bad ass. If I had to throw some starter ideas out, Heracross, Larvitar, Furfrou, Aron, Poliwag, Budew, Magby, Elekid, Starly and Swinub are pretty choice.
>>
I've spent the past 3 days reading from 1-162 of this quest.

Time very well spent, I'm excited for the next quest.
>>
>>626362
I don't think a single stager would make a good starter. But they would be fun to have along the way. I'm fine with most things so long as they made sense for when we get it. So like if we are at a tropical island, and ice type not so much.
>>
>>626362
seconding the Larvitar idea.

It's a great 3-stage pokemon and it has a mega which allows for a nice sense of progression.
>>
>>626362
I love all of your suggestions, it's just missing Staryu, Munchlax, Mienfu and Riolu

I adore Elekid and his line

[Is there anything with the general setting that comes off as not something you'd want?]

The islands have been mostly secluded for their history. They’ve been invaded several times, but never conquered. Guerrilla fighters, unpredictable weather, and seemingly the trees and Pokemon themselves always make outside invaders pack up and leave. The islanders have developed a strong sense of regional pride, independence, and unity. Well, as united as the many islands can get.

But things change. A plant called vispum that grows on the islands has been shown to have all sorts of uses. From spices to textiles to biodegradable plastics. It’s a miracle plant. But for whatever reason, it only grows on these islands. It’s a massive economic boon.

With the money comes mainlanders, tourists, and other outsiders, but it also brings many things the islanders couldn’t afford before. Most feel that keeping their culture and embracing international trade aren't mutually exclusive, but there are smaller elements that view it as an invasion with money instead of weapons.

That’s not something a kid starting their journey should worry about, though. You're about to start your journey. That's where you head should be at. That's what you're told by your...

[And then I figured we’d vote for if the MC had a mom, dad, or both (anything that isn’t an orphan), their profession(s), the MCs hobbies, physical traits, some background stuff, and kick things off. I don't want it to be a whole political thing because it's supposed to be about adventure, but there's something there to have different dynamics. I also want to be really clear about this being a fictional world with it's own stuff going on and not in any way an analogy for any real world situation.]
>>
>>626429
I like the idea. Having some varying themes going on is a good thing.
>>
>>626429
I really like that idea, especially if the islands all have different customs and different looking peoples.

Maybe you need a name to tie the Archipelago together?

you could also have the dynamic of modern cultures and sub groups clashing
>>
>>626362
What about a Tynamo starter? We could maybe work on it having more than just a few moves until it evolves though.
>>
>>626452
I love Tynamo, it and its evos are underrated
>>
>>626441
>>626451
Awesome. Yeah, I need a regional name and island names. I hate naming things. I might just cheat again and do like before where they're named after their gym locations. I find that also helps with keeping everyone up to speed.
>>
>>626469
And as an eel is fits the water that all the islands has going on. I also personally think Tynamo and Larvitar have great chances to show growth of a character for coming of age shit.
>>
>>626377
I just love Mamoswine he has came in handy in multiple battles against friends
>>626389
Those are all great too
>>626429
It sounds great, especially the clashing of honoring traditions and culture versus modernization. If there is a larger island I hope it will show this off a lot.
>>626452
Never used one but his ability and type synch up very well. I wanted to suggest Koffing he never gets any love but I don't think he should be a starter.
>>
>>626473
Loanah?
A quick bastardization of Ohana and Loa. Yes I know they are separate cultures.
>>
>>626429
Like the idea
I wonder how they would react if a random tourist came in set up the league and became champion
>>
>>626429
maybe have the reactionaries on the island only use pokemon native to the region and have disdain for anyone who uses foreign mons?

Could be an idea for the evil team.
>>
>>626473
I honestly think islands are great, you can do everything from Hawaii to New Zealand and all the different cultures in-between
>>
>>626511
I was hoping for Caribbean, I wanted some voodoo ghost trainers
>>
>>626527
Well yeah, why not have Caribbean? Gobble can do anything basically.
>>
Yeah I want to give each island a really distinct feel to it. I have a few rough outlines, but any suggestions or ideas are more than welcome.

The comparison I want to make is Greece, where each city state was Greek when it came to outsiders, but nobody would confuse Athens and Sparta.
>>
>>626562
That sounds good. I can't wait to befriend a Banette sicked on us as a voodoo curse.
>>
>>626562
I like that idea a lot. One thing I find in a lot of the pokemon games is how there are a lot of neat towns and locations, but I always want to know more about them than what the games go into. They're known for their gyms, rather than their culture, and I like the idea of that being reversed here.

I'm not even arguing about breast size, though. I said what I hoped would happen, and that was apparently unacceptable.

I don't care nearly enough about a fictional character in a quest thread to actually argue about what size their tits should be, but that didn't stop him from getting mad about it.

So, since the thread apparently died after that, what do you guys think of the main character being a novice aura user this time around?

>>627249
I guess if people really want an Aura user we could have some encounter or something that taps into it. I'm not feeling it much though.
>>
>>627249
Sounds good to me. And aura doesn't really fit if we're doing the whole outsider thing. Might be best to just stick with a regular dude.

What are your guys' thoughts on more supernatural stuff like ghosts and such being important? Ghosts are sick, and especially with the new marrowak form, I think we could get some real mileage out if that.

And for that matter, someone in our party should get a cubone. They're adorable and generally good.
>>
Honestly what I would like to do is the contest route instead of the gym route to experience a bit of a different side of the trainer life.
>>
>>627315
I can see that. We can do both, really.
>>
>>627278
>And aura doesn't really fit if we're doing the whole outsider thing.
Why?
>>
>>627389
I'm feeling like some kid from the modern world wouldn't have been using his aura. BUT, maybe something happens makes him tap into it and start to learn it. Against starting with aura though.
>>
>>627392
Maybe something did happen to make him tap into it so he was sent to X family member who is an expert Aura user and they send him on the journey across the islands
>>
You know who was a really memorable pokemon for me? Dunsparce. Love the little guy. I think he'd really benefit from having an expanded move list, and after being such an mvp on my y playthrough, I feel like he deserves some love.

Also, I brought up aura before. I disagree that it would necessarily be too powerful, or clash with other parts of our character, but I can understand the concern. I will be voting for aura, given the chance.

Mostly, I just really like how aura readings give the audience this unique insight to the characters. I liked how it made Kat think about the kind of person she was, and I liked seeing bug type show up in Robin's Aura, and how that represented her growth and her battling style. It would be a shame to lose that.
>>
>>627444
>seeing bug type show up in Robin's

She was fire and fairy iirc
>>
>>627444
Hmm, yeah, I see your point. I like the idea of aura playing an important role in island culture, but I'm not sure I want the protagonistto have it. Having someone in the party have it could be cool, though. Maybe a priestess-in-training waifu of some variety. Aura readings are cool, so I agree that losing out on that would be a shame.

Also, dunsparce is indeed great, so I'd love to see him get some action. Same with farfetch'd and kricketune.
>>
>>627474
Lets not get too unrealistic there with using shitmons. :^]
>>
>>627485
But they're so cool, and kricketune makes such great noises. You can't put a price on a good battle cry.
>>
>>627504
I'll concede Kricketune would be cool. But not a fan of farfetch'd
>>
>>627508
Also I'd rather have pretty much any of the Gen 5 bugs or Heracross.
>>
>>627508
That's a fair compromise, really. We wouldn't even need to use it. It could be on a party member's team, and its presence would still be valuable.
>>
>>627518
Also fair. Vespiquen would be cool.
>>
>>627538
Hold in. If we are gonna be a fancy guy we NEED Leavanny. How did nobody mention this before? Sewaddle would be the perfect starter! Or just a pokemon to get down the line.

Vespiquen would fucking rock

Got a rough map going.

I pulled up Google maps to view some island clusters, adjusted the angle, traced them with a pixel art program, rearranged the locations of the islands a bit, and here we are.

The largest island is the metropolitan one. It's very modern in the cities and you only really see the island culture when you go off the beaten path.

The two long islands that almost touch are considered a man and woman. For whatever reason, one has more men born, the other has more women born. Rather than have a rivalry, the islands compliment each other.

The bottom left cluster has a long history of being a pirate hideout. The waters are rough, rocks lurk just beneath the waves, and the currents are a clusterfuck for all but the best navigators. The days of pirates were a long time ago, but they still have their shady side. Before the economic boon, this was the most connected to the rest of the world. Just, y'know, the shadier parts of it.

The volcano is the seat of power. Rich in metals and in a position to watch over the other islands.

The mountain in the middle is the spiritual center. It can be seen from all the other islands. All island temples have line of sight to it. Religion and holidays and stuff aren't fleshed out at all beyond that.
>>
>>627687
This is really cool, Gobble.

It doesn't look very natural in terms of an island chain
they are usually more linear with any active volcano on one end rather than the middle
>>
>>627737
I got nothing, yet. But it's where I want to start the MC off at. You an go in a lot of directions from there.
>>
>>627767
Yeah I totally cheated to make it more of an open ended thing instead of a line. I took a real cluster can crammed it a bit. That's been bugging me too.
>>
>>627779
It could be more than one hot spot, but you'd need more than one volcano.

And plus some islands aren't volcanic at all
>>
>>627779
I'd say just make the volcano island a bit longer with more than one volcano on it and put it on the end
>>
>>627779
Eh, the continents were supposedly towed into place by regigigas. So the big guy got turned around a couple of times, can't really blame him, it's a tough job.
>>
>>627779
My question is on which island does the miracle plant grow? Or is it all of them?
>>
>>627779
Or maybe rather than being formed by a hotspot and shifting plates maybe there was a meteor that crashed here in eons ago and caused a whole upheaval and shift that formed the islands.
Though I'd still like to see at least a small sister island to the volcano one
>>
>>627823
that could also be why the miracle plant grows
due to the meteorite sediment scattered across the islands

You could have a ring of islands with a big mountain in the middle, and have an ancient legend about how it used to be one bigger island, but a meteor came and all the people gathered near the center of the island, and a legendary protected them, making the center of the island fare better than the surroundings. Legendary pokemon are a great excuse to screw the rules.

Oh, wait, you know who really benefits from extended move lists? Nidoking and Hitmonchan. Nidoking becomes an absolute bag of tricks with TM support including ice beam, thunderbolt, flamethrower, surf, dragon tail, dig, shadow claw, etc. Hitmonchan gets to learn the elemental punches without it taking up the whole move list.

If we go to the pirate isles, how about a segment where we run across Rocket or Skull?

The islands would make a good place for round 2 with Aqua and Magma as well, not to mention how well Rayquaza would fit with the pokemon protecting from a meteor thing, not to mention it always seems to have an axe to grind with Deoxys.

I think that stems from Deoxys intruding on rayquaza's territory.

Y'know when he falls from the upper atmosphere
>>
You know, assuming the 'Legendary protected gathered natives from meteor impact' ida goes through, I kinda like the idea of it being Deoxys who did so, instead of the more obvious Rayquaza.

Make it something other than the antagonistic post-game alien for once, with people knowing of and appreciating it.

One thing I'm interested in is how Gobble will treat Stone-based evolutions, since we never really got into that. In the games it seems to stunt the ability to learn new moves, so it's always tricky to decide when the ideal cutoff is.

Yeah with nidorino if you hold off on evolving you get access to fury attack, horn attack, helping hand, toxic spikes, flatter, poison jab, captivate, and horn drill. It makes learning chip away, thrash, earth power, and mega horn harder though, because (in the games) you'll need to go to the move rememberer as a nidoking.

It sucks because you need to wait so damn long (58) to be able to get horn drill. Still, I'd call it a worthwhile investment.
>>
>>628804
Oh, and I forgot to mention the cool stuff he can get by breeding like beat up, iron tail, poison tail, counter, and sucker punch.
>>
>>628804
I remember doing that.
It wasn't even to use it for my main team, it was at the point where I was evolving a bunch of pokemons to fill out my pokedex. But still I really wanted a Nidoking with Horn Drill.

I've been thinking, and I want to make learning TM and breeding and other moves a bit harder.

But, Pokemon would learn their natural moveset with time and experience.

>But, Pokemon would learn their natural moveset with time and experience.
I do like in the anime when they'll learn a new move mid-battle to win the fight
That and mid-battle evolutions
>>

>>
>>629571
Yeah, that is reasonable then. I would be fine if it took a few training sessions for the special stuff.

For mid battle evos I don't remember actually. Not really feeling like going on an archive crawl.

>>

Honestly, I was sort of waiting to see if we ever got a pokemon that didn't want to evolve. Kat sort of had a bit of an arc about that where she resolved she would let her pokemon decide, but none of them expressed any worry, so it never came up. Not every trainer needs to be Ash though, so it's not a big deal.

I'm just brainstorming a bit for an outlet until the next quest begins. Speaking of which:

Wouldn't an exeggcutor or tropius be great pokemon for the tropics theme? I'd like to see one of them with the harvest ability, so that we can abuse cool berries. We never really did use held items and I don't really remember why. Most pokemon could at least benefit from an expert belt.

Also, if we're going full fancy, we need to get custom business cards printed. Of course most will be normal contact information, but others could be used purely for style points. I'm really thinking of this guy as Tom Haverford.
>>
>>630486
Well regular held items are a no-go. I think a few of us are pushing Alola Exeggcutor.
>>
>>630486

>>
What is the optimal amount of travelling companions?

The vote might just be to go solo or pick up as many people as can be, but what would you say is the best amount ideally?
>>
>>630498
I've been thinking about allowing items. I don't know the best way to have them work and not just have people arm their Pokemon with the best stuff, though.
>>
>>630519
2 or 3 i'd say
Vance and Jeanine felt a bit overshadowed by all the time with Robin and Clair
>>
>>630519
I think 3 companions is the sweet spot, 4 would be the max. Too many and you just have too many people to talk to and too little time.
>>
>>630526
I'm personally fine without items. Maybe have berries and gems be a thing, but the whole choice item, life orb, focus sash, lefties thing is kind of a pain to keep track of ontop of learning the special moves and shit.
>>
>>630519
2 or 3. 4 would feel a bit overboard, but it's fine for a brief while during escort missions and the like.

>630526
After reading through some of the SCP foundation wiki, I've never been able to look at powerups/items the same way. You don't go and buy them in a store, they are rare objects of not insignificant power and must be earned.

You don't give your Clawitzer a "Mystic Water" because it synergises with its ability and typing. You give Clawitzer a vial of water from the spring shrine the two of you cleansed.

You don't give nidoking an "expert belt" because he has a diverse move pool, he is granted a mark of his proficiency by an old and wizened move tutor, who has no more lessons left to teach his pokemon protege.

A life orb is a conscience decision to trade safety for power. A choice band is a testament to determination and stubbornness. A plate is a piece of the divine. A gem, shellbell or soft sand must be gathered yourself with your pokemon to embody your relationship.

Changing abilities is arguably more powerful than held items, but by training to do it, the strength felt earned. As long as held items are treated as important as they are powerful, it'll be fine.
>>
>>630611
Like, what even are leftovers, really? The games just show a picture of an applecore and tell you that it refers hp. But, personally, leftovers mean something else. Having leftovers means that there was enough to eat for everybody, that no one was left hungry. It means that whoever cooked though about me and wanted me to be fed even while they were away, so they made a little extra. Don't imagine Snorlax constantly chewing on some magically regenerating applecore, imagine him licking at the bits of food in between his teeth, a meal that was home cooked with love, because his trainer cared about him. He's regenerating health because he's well-fed, but also because he's finding the strength to repay his trainer, to give his compliments to the chef who sated his monster appetite.
>>
>>630519
Yeah, four is the maximum.

Five or more is okay temporarily, but only temporarily.
>>630611
Yeah, this sounds about right.

Especially in the earlier games where you couldn't farm Soft Sand and Hard Stones, for instance.
>>
>>630642
Admittedly, some items are easier to explain than others. It makes sense why marowak has a thick club, or far fetch' has a stick, but it makes less sense to give steelix an air balloon. Safety goggles just plain make sense in a lot of cases, especially if you want to use shedinja, but I have no idea how red card is supposed to work.

On the other hand, I bet it would be pretty common for trainers to have a few Oran and Pecha berries on hand. We should probably be able to use berries at least for the sake of moves like belch or nature power, or for the harvest ability.
>>
>>630961
In context as a held item it doesn't really, unless a psychic can trick any judge or audience that it's legit. In just an ordinary battle though it wouldn't hold up and the psychic thing would probably get you thrown out of any organised competition if you got caught.

Don't try and justify everything, just what can readily make sense, even if it's abstract.
>>
>>630961
>>631100
I'm pretty sure pokemon that naturally wield are fine. I would hope that trainers for the most part have minimum items, or we Knock-Off now.
>>
>>629571
Robin did one; but it was a planned one.
>>
>>631163
Yeah, but I can't see any way for a Red Card to work except for a Judge giving one for trying to brutalise an opponent, for instance.
>>
>>631179
Yeah, some just wouldn't make sense. I almost think some special ritual shit that acts like the same items would be better. Like Mystic Water would be fine, but for a Rocky Helmet you might have the Pokemon have trained really hard or be blessed and have a shard of rock it wears that damages an enemy that hits it.
>>
>>631184
Something like that makes sense for Rocky Helmet, or it could be a trained, light counter-hit taking advantage of an opportunity or break in the enemy's guard.

Depends on the pokemon.

A psychic or electric type might use a light retaliatory charge and a water or poison type might have corrosive poison on their skin while fire types boost their body temperature.

It could also be a specialised sort of body armour that has to be custom made.
>>
>>631186
I like the ideas except for the Body Armour. That walks on the edge of just the trainer elite having their Pokemon fully decked out.

With all the mysticism from natives so many things can be spiritual in nature. If we had more trained versions of items they would need to have drawbacks like the psudo-leftovers from Trunks.
>>
>>631190
So stuff like Charcoal then?

Berries would probably become a bigger deal if we do wind up going the contest route, which when you think about it, especially with the anime's depictions, could be really cool.
>>
>>631191
Yeah. And I would be fine with berries being super common. It could even allow for a character to have making cooking buffs or something.
>>
>>631195
That would be the shit, even if we're not /fa/ it'd be a cool character point.

Just so long as it's not to the point of Cilan.

Fucking hated him making food-pun similes all through Unova. Would've preferred Brock failing to hit on women for another region to Cilan's anime depiction.
>>
>>631199
I like puns, but can understand it. Cilan still has a cool design though.

I do look forward to working harder on special training for our Pokemon. Since near the end Destiny kinda felt cheap using and I feel like her evasion was being gained too easily.
>>
>>631200
To be fair, after about the 8+ we were getting help from an ex-champion and the Elite Four.
>>
>>631211
That is a good point, all the training we did once we reached the E4 kinda blurs together for me. I just remember the Crit Mitigation because I think we ate 3 or 4 crits in that final fight against Robin.
>>
>>631218
Yeah and I've got to say, as good as Oberon was with Crits, I have made an even more OP monstrosity of a pokemon in a Nuzlocke before:

An Absol that had Super Luck for an ability, knew Night Slash and was holding a Razor Claw. It also had Swords Dance.

After the Razor Claw, it was basically guaranteed I'd get critical hits with Night Slash.
>>
I just now realized how many of our Pokemon were actually good by game standards. It would be nice to have a more underdog roster next time. Not trash, but Pokemon you see less often like Trunks. I'm really fine with anything except for Aromatisse though.
>>
>>631285
Yeah, getting Fel earlier in the piece would've been good.

Butterfree is a really good design and has some pretty good moves.

Only thing is, they're kind of squishy though.
>>
>>631291
Yeah, us getting him at the end meant he was hard to use. Also the fight that would have been best for him was when Oberon decided to become King Oberon
>>
>>631294
Ah well.

We can hope for a Wurmple in the next one.

Beautifly is also pretty great and would also make a good contest pokemon.
>>

>>
>>631312
True.

It's a shame most of them have such low stats.

The ones that don't have lackluster stats are either hard to find or take forever to evolve though.

What about a mystic tag? One of those japanese pieces of paper with a blessing on it. We could earn them in the island and also pick berries.

Only one works at a time because they clash mojo. The berries of the island are also infused with the same energy so they lose effect if carried with a tag on a pokemon.
>>
>>631346
Yeah for sure, I just mean he didn't get much a chance to shine. Fel was our go to for taking out other people and stuff.

>>631359
I could dig the energies not mixing well for mystic items. Berries could just be because a Pokemon has to focus on keeping their berry safe so they can't hold anything else.
>>
>>631363
Yeah that's probably simpler.
>>
>>631359
Yeah, some items make less sense as held items outside of the videogame format. Cleanse tags, the lenses, or a smoke ball should probably be on the trainer. But not black glasses. Cool dogs wear shades indoors.

While we're wishlisting, you know what I would really like to see? The move "assist." Only ten lines of pokemon can learn it, but mygod is it fun. We've talked a lot about pokemon that benefit from expanded move lists, but this is a move that benefits from it! I mean, who doesn't want a spinda or hypno or cat pokemon that their opponent literally just can't play around.

Just visualize it: you send out spinda. Your opponent uses their turn swapping into a pokemon with own tempo. Spinda uses assist. A ghostly image of a large crab stands behind Spinda. It swings an arm, and Spinda uses Guillotine. The opponent is stunned. The opponent happens to be a psychic. She reads your mind. What are you planning?

She doesn't know. You don't know. Spinda doesn't know. YOU'RE A LOOSE CANNON

Aw, shucks, thanks!

Yeah, a spell tag system would be really good for items that just don't make sense, like air balloon, red card, weakness policy, etc. And, if you desired it to, the system could really bring the whole type-booster item category into line. Why should "miracle seed" exist when "Rose incense" already does everything the seed does and more?

The downside is that if you turn an item like "black glasses" into a tag, we're less likely to see dogs wearing shades. And even a miracle seed can have a cool opportunity for meaningful choices. Do you use it like in the mystery dungeon games as a consumable, powerful healing item, or tough it out so that you can keep it for the power boost? And where do you even get a "miracle seed" anyways? What the hell grows if you plant it? And if we're playing /fa/, I want my heracross to wear a "blackbelt" from its horn, and I want my Nidoking to wear wiseglasses.

Whichever items we end up with, and in whatever form, I'm going to be glad for the "frisk" ability to have a use in battle.

Aw hell, now I can't stop thinking about steelix with a balloon tag. It would be cool if it made steelix float in the air like a Gyarados, but it would probably work differently, because that alone wouldn't protect it from moves like Bonemerang. It's probably more like it makes the pokemon emit a radius of nullification. Like imagine a steeling is vs some earthquakes like Krookodile who goes for the obvious play. And all the ground in the arena starts bursting apart, except for a perfect circle of undisturbed earth around steelix. And Krookodile is wondering how in the hell he missed and steelix just grins and the announcers start to flip out.

"Do you see that Tad!?"
"What Ted?"
"That Steelix has a BALLOON TAG in between his teeth!"
"UNBELIEVEABLE FOLKS!"

Because, gamewise, you generally don't know what item your opponent has unless it triggers off of something, and where else is a Steelix going to hide something?

God I'm hyped.
>>
Yeah, probably best to keep it to berries and tags in place of most items where it makes sense.

Case-by-case basis though, something like BlackGlasses, Assault Vest, and Wide Lens would work perfectly fine as-is in-universe I think.

Oh, you know who deserves some attention? Unown. Unown are, by my interpretation of the lore, the tools with which Arceus created the world. We've seen their power in the movies and their association with sinnoh legends, but the games treat them so poorly. Shitty stats, one move, one ability, and the strength in mumbers the pokedex hints at isn't represented in any way.

The game of Throhs splatbook for ptu introduces the "rune master" class, which I think does wonders to expand on Unown. Turns them into the writers of reality instead of just Sigilyph's hat.

And honestly, as a kid, who wasn't awestruck at the big swarms of unown that created the Entei simulacrum? They look like neurons in a giant brain, or a message beyond mortal comprehension, powerful and alien.

>>
>>634437
That line IS fantastic, one of the more creative electric lines out there.

doesn't hurt that eelektross is really good.
>>
>>634644
PTU made me like it much more, letting Tynamo evolve at 15 into the mid stage means people could catch it early on and not be stuck with something that learns 6 moves max until the 30s.
>>
>>634671
I think in a quest setting Tynamo has it's own charm, that keeps it from being completely gimped.
>>
>>634678
I suppose. The playtest pokedex for PTU actually fixes most of the level problems Pokemon found later in the games has and is something I would suggest looking at. So many gen 5 Pokemon have absurd levels needed to evolve. While I know Gobble doesn't use the exact game mechanics, knowing 5 or 6 moves normally and evolving at 39 means it is kinda shit in the games.
>>
>>634418
Yeah, metronome is more of a gamble, but it just isn't as satisfying for me, you know? I feel like assist is the less known, and thereby less expected, move. It also has an element of teamwork to it that metronome doesn't.

I wonder if instruct makes metronome reroll a new move, or use the same one again every time?
>>
>>634682
I just meant the special training you could do with a mon that fast and small, sorta like the ground elite 4's nincada.

>>635019
Instruct makes them redo the move they used, if they used assist they'll reuse assist, complete with the random move selection.
>>
>>635040
Probably, we would have to work extra hard to get it more moves though.

So I've been thinking about tm's in terms of how I was thinking about held items. What if they didn't teach the pokemon how to use a move, they taught the trainer how to teach the move?

Tm's already look like cd's, what if they were literally just online learning programs? It would make sense that they cost about as much as a college course might, and the effort involved to complete them would mean that we couldn't just throw money at our pokemon to teach them moves.

The courses would probably cover how the move works to the best of scientist's knowledge and how the move isn't often used in battle, but mostly what you need to do to teach it to your pokemon.

This could include things like introducing a pokemon to a move of a new type, and the anatomy of that pokemon. Where does the fire come from if you're teaching Clefairy Flamethrower? How do you explain hone claws to a diglet? How do you teach a Dunsparce to use Dream Eater? Every disc would need complete information on every species the move is known to be learned by.

They would probably include a safety training course and a liability waiver too, just in case some rich kid decides to teach the family Rhyhorn Earthquake.

Come to think of it, a disc's ability to enforce a safety course before showing you how to teach a move would explain why Tm's aren't just books. (In addition to the usual advantages an online learning program provides.)

And it would make sense to boot up a disc every time you teach the move again, in order to check reference material.

I hope this system would make the use of Tm's feel earned.
>>
>>637075
> isn't often used in battle
Should be "is often" , fuck.

Is it me or is captcha getting harder?
>>
>>637075
That actually makes a lot of sense

You know what I've realized I want to see in the next quest? (A) mystery egg(s). There's something really pure about caring for something defenseless, without having the expectation that your work will ever be repaid. When you raise a pokemon like larvesta, or bagon, or feebas, or magikarp, you know what your efforts are going to be rewarded with.

With an egg, you could get anything from a rattata to a dratini, and it doesn't matter because you already love them.

Unless you're a petty, shallow trainer with no parental instincts, who'll toss a poor defenseless baby to the wild.
>>
>>637304
I like that idea. It's reminiscent of togepi in the anime. That would also be a great way for Gobble to throw a curveball at us for our team, too.
>>
>>637304
>>637343
That'd be good, but for the love of god, don't give us a Pidgey in the egg.

Had enough of that shit from Pokemon Go.
>>
>>637378
My first egg was a dratini.

My sister damn near killed me
>>
>>637075
There could actually be another method for TMs if we really want to drive the duality of the region home.

Teaching Medicines.

Medicines passed down that when used in a ritual with a Pokemon expands their mind and teaches them of a new move depending on what the medicine was imbued with. I apologize if that sounded way too weed lmao.
>>
Okay so forget all the other starters
I need a Pichu that we save from being attacked by some wild pokemon
Have it that start off weak and a bit cowardly but we help it gain confidence as we journey on, leading to it evolving to save us in a critical moment, like maybe being attacked by the evolved pokemon that was attacking it
And eventually it would end up an Alolan Raichu
It's the perfect size for a no-pokeball/shouldermon

I actually feel like Dedene and Pachirisu have a lot of potential if they had evolutions.

Dedene has unique typing, and Pachirisu could potentially evolve into a decent electric tank. They're wasted as they are, though.

>>637304

Normally I'm not a fan of Pichu either but I like the idea of a relatively weak pokemon becoming a powerhouse

I'd be willing to relent it as a starter but I'll still be on the look out for in during the quest or at least something similar
a Mimikyu is fine too

I'm thinking what we'll do is have a choice between three starters or finding your own. I just haven't settled on what triangle.

I don't really care if it's imperfect. In fact, I sort of like that better to give a sense of the islands not getting caught up in those details.
>>
>>640593
I dont think its a necessity really. especially since we didn't need it in this quest since we didn't exactly have a rival and I dont know if we will in the next quest.

We're on page 9 now by the way. We might have until morning to hang on to this last thread of an amazing quest
>>
>>640523
I don't really feel Tynamo is weak enough to go from 0 to hero as you put it
As for bugs I guess Sewaddle could work for it, especially with the friendship evolution into Leavanny
Though I'll still be on the look out for an Alola Raichu

>>640593
>>640914
I wouldn't mind picking from 3 this time and it'd be neat to have a starting rival or 2 that pick with us. Not necessarily traveling companions but just people that we meet up every now and then and battle or do a quest with before going our separate ways again
>>
You know who I always felt was the perfect alt-starter? Oddish. All the advantages of bulbasaur ( low maintenance, good moves for catching pokemon, won't set shit on fire), plus an important personal choice as to what evolution to pick.
>>
>>640593
I think the only triangle that doesn't use Fire, Grass, Water and doesn't have anything immune is Rock, Flying, Fighting.
>>
>>640930
That is a good point. Dick and Junior were the closest we had to rivals, but I don't think we battled them that much.
>>
>>625842
So many of those triangles don't have types that resist each other its not even funny.
>>
>>640593
This might just be me, but anyone thought that maybe we could have a starter like Poochyena, Growlithe or Riolu?

Just a pokemon our parent(s) got us as a birthday gift one time and we've grown up with them since, not as trainer and pokemon but as best friends.
>>
>>641443
I like the idea, but dislike all of those as our starter.
>>
>>641451
Those were just examples, working off the dog theme.

Just as easy we could have a cat pokemon like Skitty, Meowth or Espurr.
>>
>>641480
Right, thinking about what Gobble said >>640593
I'm wonder just how different the Pokemon will be depending if we take one of three or look for our own.
>>
>>641482
If we go the three route, we'll probably have had them as a pet, while finding our own offers more variety but they'll take time to warm up to us.

Seems like the best way to work the trade off, if I'm honest.
>>
>>641486
Yeah for sure. I think a big factor will be if we know the three in advanced. Since if not then we have Mystery Box v Mystery Box
>>
>>641489
Well, if we assume that Gobble takes the discussion the last few threads into account for the three, we'll probably wind up looking at a Dark/Fighting/Psychic triangle, with Ralts as the Psychic.

With the Aura Reader abilities on the table, Riolu would make sense for the Fighting type.

That leaves Dark.

Could be Alolan Meowth or Rattata or it could be Zorua or Murkrow.

Dark hasn't been a type for a Starter that's been discussed, but that'd be a pretty decent triangle.
>>
>>641494
That is probably my worst case scenario.
One, we just had a dark starter.
Two, we may not even have aura.
Three, those lines you suggested for psychic and fighting have enough shit for a lifetime.
Four, Dark is just immune to psychic.
>>
>>641503
>those lines you suggested for psychic and fighting have enough shit for a lifetime.

Might as well do something quality to counterbalance then. :P

In all seriousness, I'm just taking a guess based on what's been discussed.

Gobble could just decide to go with the F/G/W triangle and throw us the Hoenn trio or something or find three 'jungle'-themed starters.

I will add on the Ralts\Riolu thing though that while those two lines do have a lot of crap associated with them, that's more because there's potential there for interesting characters, in addition to how powerful they are in game.

That said, a lot of that potential does go to waste.
>>
>>641514
I'm sure Gobble could pull it off, but I'm pretty sure Gobble isn't doing regular starters. Also a nice thing with the quest is that we got to see some less common Pokemon see some love.

Gardevoir and Lucario get enough love, they don't need anymore.
>>

>>641520
Fucking kill me. I can't outrun my mistakes forever.
>>
>>641520
Eh, the only reason Riolu is on my list of potential starters is the potential for an Aura Reader protag.

If it weren't for that, I'd put it as too unlikely.

Ralts through to Gardevoir would make for a good /fa/ starter, but in the same breath, so would Sewaddle and Mimikyu.

Something to consider though is that the favourites are favourites for a reason and just because something has been done or used before, doesn't mean we have to automatically right it off.

Gobble gave us a good balance in this quest, so that trend will more than likely continue.

Of course, we could always split the difference and go with Zubat as a callback.
>>
>>641530
Yeah, you are probably right about the starter stuff. I think we have Gobble a pretty big list of stuff people like along with whatever else they have planned.
>>
>>641541
And that's the whole point of this extended after-thread chat:

Preparation for the next quest and making it as good as this one was.

With all the feedback and how transparent Gobble's been so far, things are looking good.
>>
>>641548
And then we roll a 1 on making an outfit for our waifu in some ancient ruins of to escape a tribe of cannibals.
>>
>>641541
>>641554
Phoneposting will drive me to drink.
>>
>>641556
That's when we reveal our stylin' pimp cane is in fact a sword and do glorious battle to reclaim our ladylove.

Cannibals at least, we can fight.
That's more than can be said for traps.

Hopefully anons won't be that stupid this time though.

But you know what'd be more fun than cannibals?

Ninjas.

And one of our waifus is a ninja.

And her peers aren't pleased with her choice of boyfriend.
>>
>>641599
I think Gobble has enough walrus planned.
>>
>>641613
I feel that phone posting pain.

And you're right, but fighting ninjas we inadvertantly pissed off would be fun.

Better, they kidnap MC's girlfriend and we have to rescue her.

That'd be a different sort of drama to going through ruins.

Are there anyone Pokemon you'd hate to see?
>>
>>645040
Gardevoir, Lucario, Aromatisse, Pokemon from our previous team that aren't super common. But these are all just what I don't want for our team. Another trainer could have it just fine.
>>
>>645040
Why is the OP post wearing a hat?

As to pokemon I wouldn't want to see, Trubbish and Vanillish, mostly, though I'll agree with Spritzee and Aromatisse along with Slurpuff.

I disagree with Lucario and Gardevoir being on the hate list, but that's mostly because I'm curious as to what you'd do there, Gobble.

You might've dropped your name, but your ID helped.
>>
>>645277
Birthday buddy. I personally think Trubbish is cute, but I understand the dislike.
>>
>>645052
>>645277
I wouldn't want to see any of these on our team for different reasons
I'd like to have no Mega's this time around for one
>>
>>645040
Also as nice as it was having Aria, I'm partial to legendaries and mythics staying that. I don't HATE them, but I feel like having one takes away from how much the other Pokemon can shine in battles somewhat.
>>
>>645291
and what replace them with shitty sentai moves?

Nah familia
>>
>>645281
Gen V really did have some of the most forgettable designs.

And I understand the argument regarding Gardevoir and Lucario in regards to their popularity, but the same can be said for a lot of Gen I pokemon as well, so ignoring the designs that can be taken as forgettable or lazy, let's go into the next thing without too much bias, eh?
>>
>>645298
Nah, just a regular trainer working with their nose to the grindstone.
>>
>>645298
Not really replace them with anything
Just not get pokemon that have them
>>
>>645293
I'll give this to Gobble:

I wasn't especially keen on Meloetta before I read this quest and lumped it in with the bad designs of Gen V.

After this quest though, got to say I appreciate Meloetta more.
>>
>>645302
Gen V had some of the best designs too, it was the biggest hit or miss gen
>>
>>645302
I didn't really like the designs at any point. Gardevoir isn't that bad so long as the waifufags aren't indulged. Gamefreak ruined Lucario though.

Lucario Tower with twin lurcarios and one has taken a liking to you! Have this mega lucario to fight the gym leader's mega lucario and then have lucario join your team!
>>
>>645314
Yeah, in the end I'm really fine with anything Gobble throws at us because I know they can make it work. Even Aromatisse. Please don't take that as a challenge Gobble.
>>
>>645320
>>645329
Y'know what? I want a fucking cubone, goddamnit
>>
>>645320
Really did take something away from Lucario.

It was a little too much fanservice.

I'm not against Mega forms or Mega Lucario, in fact I quite liked the atmosphere of that entire scene, but it's cheap, considering the work you had to put in previously to get one.

The game's difficulty up to or after that point didn't warrant a free Lucario either, especially since you could catch Riolu before the first Gym.

Gen IV and V you had to work for it if you wanted a Lucario.

It's a lot less satisfying to be just handed one, even if again, that whole scene had a really cool atmosphere to it.
>>
>>645363
That would be pretty cool.

By the time it evolves, Sun and Moon would be out and we'd have an idea of what Ghost\Fire Marowak could do, so that'd be an option as well.
>>
>>645375
My thoughts exactly, it's also one of the better gen 1 designs anyway.
