Your name is Chiaki Matsuda, and you are a Magical Girl.

And for what it's worth, you're ready to take your trip to the moon.

To the lunar base where the deadliest, most powerful magical girls are stationed. Where the Officio that would only recruit the best of the best - and even then, the candidate would have to pass an even more exacting set of standards to even be considered for a shortlist - had established itself, in order to watch over the world entire. To protect it from whatever threat that would be deemed too much for the other Officios to take on.

You've heard the rumors, you've read the legends. You've even talked to one of its members, a former Warmaster of your own Officio - who, despite her obvious experience and trappings of office, reminded you more of a mousy little secretary with a birdkeeping hobby than anything else.

In fact, if you didn't know beforehand about her station you'd have assumed she was simply a retiree visiting the headquarters for a trip down memory lane. You didn't feel any sort of crushing pressure in her gaze, no hair-raising aura of bloodlust or any of the kind around her. Just a wistful smile, thick glasses and a faint compulsion to toss birdseed at her feet.

...Anyway, what you were getting it was that you're not that impressed with them. You're damn well impressed that they managed to get a base up there, sure, and that none of them have apparently gone insane from being isolated from the rest of the world for that long - but you've never bought the idea of why such an Officio was needed. Why there needed to be that kind of distinction between magical girls.

Most of all, you've never really bought the reasoning why they didn't even get off their asses the last time Walpurgisnacht showed up.

'The last line of defense' your ass. 'Held back in reserve in case something much more serious showed up in the Witch's wake' your FUCKING ass.

In hindsight, you should have probably asked Vintage about that.

You make a mental note to do so, later. Couldn't hurt to ask. It'd probably be improper, and the mutant cat bastard might frown at you for doing so, but fuck it, they can give you that, at least.

They're taking Mami away from you, after all.

After making sure you don't currently look like a mess - at least, not any more than usual - you make a beeline to the Incubator's Office from your vault. Your hurried footsteps carrying across the empty hallways, bouncing off the walls. Feeling you with a vague sense of dread and...well, that cold feeling in your gut that this might be the last time you'll ever see this place.

...

Past the cafeteria. Past sickbay. Past the receptionist's table where Mami once sat, four lifetimes ago, to take Kyuubey's visitors.

You called her your blonde goddess of victory then. Cringeworthy as it was, you still believe that. Even after all this time. Even after all you've heard.

Just someone who believed in you. Someone who always had a warm smile for you, and a stack of pancakes you've become hopelessly addicted to.

...

This sucks. All of this.

It really does.

"No argument there, Matsuda." You hear that voice again, and you look down to see your Incubator - Kyuubey - looking up at you from the floor. From the floor of his office, which you don't really remember walking into but most likely have by autopilot. "These circumstances we find ourselves in...they're less than ideal. Sometimes I wonder if we're not all trapped in some living nightmare somehow, and we only need to wake up in order to make all of this go away."

...

"But that's the farthest thing from the truth, unfortunately. No matter how much I'd like it to not be." He shakes his furry little head, his long ears flapping back and forth. "I assume you're ready for our little trip, then, since you're here. And on time, no less." A pause as his eyes focus on you, two little orbs of the most emotionless, depthless red. "The teleportarium is all but ready and just waiting for the final input before it sends us up. When it does, we'll be there in a single moment, and you may experience some temporary discomfort as everything settles. It'll pass quickly the less you move around after translation."

"But before I do enter the final input, is there anything you'd like to ask? I ask this because we may not be able to talk...freely, while in the First's halls."

How do you respond?

[]Yeah, I got something to ask. (Write-in)
[]No. Let's get this shitshow on the road.

Here we go
>[X]Yeah, I got something to ask.

Write-in: Make a Contract

Kyuubey, not dickbutt, not freaky cat thing, not incubator, Kyuubey (You see, be nice to him, he is the most neccecary part of the plan) will have to seek out someone.

Just some girl with untaped potential, nothing more, nothing less. Prefered, a girl who wants to save others, without knowing anything about them.

Give him instructions to make that girl make her wish "I want to be abled to create Soulgem replicas, which would even fool the First, in both appearance and Aura"

The girl can either accept the conditions, or Kyuubey will just fuck off to the next girl.

Once this is done, said girl will have to create a Mami-fakegem.

Let's hope that the wish isn't specific HOW the fakegems are made, else we will be up on the moon, proposing to delay the execution by another week.

Once the deed is done, let Kyuubey contact NECO, since he wants "his own protocol written" or some shit like that.

She will be our Mule for this opperation. So it's prefered to leave her to do the "protocol", so let's leave her oblivious to that fact. As long as she doesn't know it, she won't show anyone the contraband.

Either that, or get someone who also does have the permittion to go to the moon. When in doubt, let Kyuubey himself deliver the package.

Once THAT pact is sealed, we will roll from there, but we will have little oppertunitys to exchange the Soulgems. If shit hits the fan, Timestop during the execution.

I, for one, know that the timestop is totally unreliable, so this is the plan once shit hits the fan.

Additionally, we will have to make a plan B, with our last plan being plan Z, which is: Try to kill everyone of the First. Which by far is the stupidest plan one ever had.
tl;dr :

Create Magical Girl who can fake Soulgems

Get a smuggling-mule to bring the Fakegem

Exchange Fakegem with Soulgem
In the end, we will also have to severe the connection between Mami's body and her soulgem. But this is by far the least of our problems, so I took on the first part.

From here, I'd like to think that her body will be burned, and that we can smuggle the soulgem back home, where we can remake her body, the same as with Kyoko.

Oh good, I caught the live session this time.

In case no one brought it up on twitter or ask me anything, just wanted to point out that Chiaki collected all the golden weapons twice. Once in Thread 301, and in the last thread.

Salutations, the one of Choice, and also Salutations, the not so Many!

We have contacted the Incubators Tarot, related to this question:

Will Chiaki find peace in her life? Or is that peace unattainable, and the only escape for her is death?

The Incubator Tarot uses the Major Arcana, without caring about Upright or Reversed.

This is what We recieved:

That, which is the Theme: 15 The Devil

That, which is it's Origin: 18 The Moon

That, which is known to them: 17 The Star

That, which is unknown to them: 10 Wheel of Fortune

That, which gets in their way: 1 The Magician

That, which will help them: 4 The Emperor

That, which is the Outcome: 12 The hanged Man

As decided by the majority, We will not be giving it a certain meaning, and instead will let the not so Many decide.

Please, do keep in mind, that Tarot doesn't give a certain answer. Nor do the cards represent what they depict.

If you do not understand Tarot, please contact your closest Tarot Expert, so he may tell you about your demise.

The Outcome pleases the Administrative greatly, as both Tarot experts, and those who don't know how to read Tarot, will have an increase in
>Shadowruns
by at least 135.73125 Percent.

We might be offered a spot in the First, where Ichibey can keep his eyes on us, where we can't have direct contact with anyone who isn't already in the First without clearance and can be taken out by the rest at any time. (so they'd think)

The Moon isn't just where the best of the best goes to fight the worst of witches. It's there so the strongest girls can be kept distant from everyone else on the surface and so that the other Officios' fighting power can be kept below the First.

You look down at Kyuubey and make to shake your head, but...something does tug at your subsconscious here, begging for attention. After a moment, you nod your assent, and clear your throat before speaking.

First, Wendy. When - or if - you ever get off the fucking rock he's sending you off to - you want information about where she is and what she's doing. Whatever it takes. Even if he has to resort to calling on that annoying journalist - the one who tried her best to look and sound cute with the cat bullshit - for help.

Second - Midori. You want her--

"Taken care of, no matter what happens. Yes, I know." Kyuubey nods, and even with his usual lack of anything resembling emotion and humanity in his voice, he sounds...oddly tired when he replies. "As ever, Matsuda, you remain painfully predictable when it comes to matters you have an emotional stake on. Admirable, certainly, but someone might just catch on and use it against you."

You stare back down at the mutant cat bastard, wordless. After a moment, he nods again.

"Consider it personally handled, Matsuda. Allow me to at least carry that particular burden for you, what with everything else to worry about. You have my word as an Incubator that no matter the outcome of our little jaunt, Hanegawa Midori will be safe."

Good. That's what you were waiting to hear.

He chuckles here. "Sometimes I find your impertinence annoying, Matsuda. Other times I find it refreshing, calming almost. Thankfully, the latter applies here, despite everything."

...Things are that bad, huh?

Well, of course they are, but you didn't think...for him, anyway--

"By all rights, I shouldn't be. I don't think any of my brothers, had they been in my place instead, would be experiencing this amount of...distress. This unease. This lack of calm." He looks up at you, crimson eyes briefly reflecting the light, before they go dull. "Maybe I have gone truly insane, like they keep saying behind my back..."

Another moment, and he shakes his head. "That's another conversation for another time. Right now, we have an appointment to be punctual to."

As Kyuubey says this, he scampers off towards his array of large-screen monitors, hopping up to the keyboard and quickly hitting a few keys. Immediately the well-illuminated room goes completely dark, with a single glowing circle of blue light etching itself in the middle of the floor. One bordered with mysterious looking glyphs that seem to shift and curl whenever you try to look closer at them.

"Stand in the circle, Matsuda, and I'll begin the teleportation process. ...Try to keep your hands and feet inside the border at all times, or you might end up needing a replacement the moment you land."

...Right. Okay.

You stand there, keeping your arms tight to your side and your hands in the pockets of your skirt.

Kyuubey taps another key at his terminal, and the ring GLOWS. At the same time a high-pitched whine fills the air, rapidly screeching towards its hair-raising crescendo. The static in the air growing thick enough to choke out all sound.

[TELEPORTATION INITIATED] a gravelly voice barks out in the room. [DESTINATION: FIRST OFFICIO LUNAR BASE]

"I've always hated this," You hear Kyuubey snarl as he jumps into your arms. "One last word of advice: if you're going to throw up, try not to get it all over me, Matsuda. Once is enough."

R-right.

And then - just before the whine itself reaches its painful apex, it's here that you see them.

Your doll collection. Standing before you, in the darkness. Their eyes and slitted grins glowing just enough for you to make out their full number. All but one, they did say. All of them motionless. All of them silent.

All of them standing outside the teleportation circle.

So, do we have a concrete plan to rescue Mami? So far, we have manifested our intention to do so, but no clear steps for it to happen

I proposed Several plans.

The Sneaky Beaky Plan is up there
>>606894

The other plans are to Nuke it from Orbid, fall into despair, or just generally Fail at committing Mass Genocide.

And then there is the Watch-Wearing-Diplomat method, which I didn't figure out yet, don't know how the 1st ticks.

S-so...
>>
>>607358
Those are all indeed plans. We will have to see which one of them survives contact with the enemy.
>>
So I've been a little out of the loop: Why are we trying to save Mami? I mean didn't she betray us? I for one would gladly see her die for that. Or did I miss something?
>>
>>607373
We have no fucking idea about betrayal, but We do know she is the Pancakes.

Only Midori knows the Truth.
And Mami... maybe... Not sure if Midori send the Information to Mami or not.
>>
>>607373
One word: pancakes. That is enough for you to understand
>>
>>607373
Saving her really seems like a bad idea; probably that's we are doing it.
>>
>>607351
Any plan we could come up with at this moment is worth shit, to be honest. We barely know anything about the base, the execution, anything.
We don't even know if we want to save Mami - we just want to know the truth, hopefully from the pancakes herself.
Here's a plan for you: we get to the bridge, we cross it, if shit hits the fan, blow the bridge to smithereens.
>>
>>607373
You seem to have forgotten the part where Mami was falsely led to believe that we were going to end the world. Midori managed a final telepathic message that, among other things, conveyed to Mami that she was being deceived through the golden rifle.
>>
>>607373
She wanted to kill us because she thought we were the devil (which we kinda are, but not really). Then she got caught trying to remove kebab.
>>
>>607385

It's a real shame that a little over than 50% of the voters during that thread voted to do other shit than telepathically relay the truth to Mami before the absolute last point of no return.
>>
>>607382
I forgot to add: we already have the golden weapons for gentle persuasion, Smartass for some insight and the dolls for the dirty work. As far as the mission goes, we're set.
>>
>>607385
Ignorance or a lack of knowledge doesn't absolve you of your crimes though.
>>
>>607373
In-Character: Chiaki wants to know what the fuck happened, because she doesn't know that Mami appeared inside the Barrier and attacked Midori, because Mami was being tricked by the Golden Musket/The Transcendent One/Homucifer into killing Chiaki

Out of Character: because we know that Midori was able to give a last-second memory dump to Mami that convinced her not only is Chiaki NOT going to end the world even though she has become the Devil Incarnate, but that the only chance to save the world and save Godoka is through Chiaki.
>>
>>607394
>golden Weapons
>the first
NOPE!
>>
>>607397
If it gets to agressive diplomacy time it's our only chance, that and the big red button. Besides, the first knows fully that we have golden weapons. It's common knowledge at this point.

I didn't say we have to wave it in front of every meguca we come by. It's still better than having nothing. Especially since there's a sin waiting to get a drop on us.
Seriously, have we become so dildo now that we're starting to doubt the obvious advantage of packing some heat for a mission?

If we had done the memory dump earlier, Mami, Midori, and Wendy could have discussed what to do with Smartass. They could have put together a plan with the time they would have had.

Instead, with Midori having become a vessel for Pinky, Wendy also a vessel, Mami didn't have any cards left.

You wave at them, beckoning them to join you. To come with you on your trip, just before the teleport itself triggers and sends you hurtling into space. You'd most likely need their help too, just in case things get really hairy up there--

+ No, Good-for-nothing. We cannot go with you. You must face this alone. +

A pulse. From your entire collection of creepy, grinning dolls. Each of their voices forming a part of the chorus that their collective denial in your mind. Blending together in a spine-tingling symphony.

You blink at this, before trying again, pulsing back. + For fuck's sake, just hop on, I'll need you there--+

+ We are your servants, Good-for-nothing, but there are things that even a Good-for-nothing like you must do herself. + IBARI steps forward, her killer's smile frozen on her porcelain face. + Important things. Things you shouldn't leave for cackling, murderous dolls to do, even if they are sworn to do your bidding. + Her smile fades, turning into a dismayed frown. + It'd be a sorry state of affairs if we did all the work for you. +

But they haven't done shit! Except for maybe getting your journal back, but--

+ You forget way too easily, but we've never held that against you, Good-for-nothing. + IBARI shakes her head. + But regardless, this is your show, Good-for-nothing. We cannot interfere, even if we wanted to. ...At the very least, rest assured we will be there to pick up the pieces when the curtain falls. +

And then, just as the glow of the teleportation ring floods everything else--

--the last thing you see is your dolls curtseying as one.

...Fine.

You weren't really expecting any help from them, but at the same time, it feels like you're being forced to go through this alone.

Fine.

It suits you just fine.

You are Aware that Pinky has BLACK eyes, right?
In fact, we have the original Homura X Madoka ship, just a bit different.

Wendy? No idea about her, but fuck her anyways, she is not best Girl. Just the other Waifu.

And Mami would probably have gone berserk anyways.

And at the end, what makes you think that Dumping the Memory wouldn't shut down the dream as a whole?

After all, Being meguca is suffering, and there is only grimdark.

>This is the exact order of the options since Mami appeared:

[]Shout a warning, before diving behind cover.
[]Tackle your sempai to the ground as fast and as hard as you can.

[]Why?
[]No. You'll have to kill me first.
[]Sempai trusted you.

[]Pulse Wendy as loudly and as harshly as you can to wake her up.
[]Summon Tiny Pete.
[]Lure the other Homuras to attacking Mami.

[]Beg for mercy.
[]Call her a coward and a traitor.
[]Try to get your sempai to snap out of it.
[]Pray.

[]Ask for Pinky's help.
[]Grab the golden rifle, shoot Mami with it.
[]Grab the golden desert eagle, throw it to your sempai.

. .

. . .

You open your eyes, and see yourself in the same room that you left.

Except...not really. It does look like Kyuubey's office, sure, with the strange oversized plexiglass tiles on the walls, floor and ceiling that also doubled as projection screens, but...colder. Brighter. With the faint scent of what smells like antiseptic in the air, like in a hospital.

There's a small liquid sound beneath you, and you look down to see Kyuubey - your mutant cat bastard boss - throwing up what looks like thick orange juice into a small cat dish. His fur all but frazzled, raised in the same way that startled or alarmed cats would have theirs, along with the tail pointing straight up and everything.

Kyuubey...? You can't help but feel that this is something you shouldn't be seeing.

+ Please look away, Matsuda, and try not to look at me with something approaching concern in your eyes. I already have my fair share of nightmares, thank you very much. + You hear him pulse directly into your mind, in mid-vomit. + Heavens, I do hate teleportation. It'll be the death of me, I'm sure. +

You make to remark, when you hear the doors to the office slide open. Revealing a very familiar and bespectacled face, one that reminded you immediately of the stack of paperwork you've been ignoring ever since everything started.

"Ah, good, you're in one piece!" Vintage, former Warmaster of the Ninth and current Equerry of the First greets you with a big smile, the fat little ball of feathery hate that she calls a raven perched on top of her head. "Good thing, too, the medical staff is indisposed at the moment trying to get our Culexus stable." She reaches you in no time flat, and begins dusting you off with her sleeves.

"Heavens, look at you. You look so normal for a world-ending antichrist that I'm beginning to think it's some sort of joke." She giggles at her own jab, before looking down at your stricken boss. "Ah, poor dear. Always like that, no matter what. Will you be needing anything, Kyuubey? Besides the usual, I mean?"

"No, Karasawa, I'll be fine. Just take Matsuda away before I embarrass myself any further." Your boss chokes out a reply, before another wave of orange juice spills from his mouth. "I'll join you shortly before the execution. I have a brief appointment with my oldest brother myself."

"Alright, we'll see you there." Vintage remarks lightly, before pulling you along. "Come on. We've a while before the proceedings, so I need to introduce you to some people. Try and not look like you're planning on staging an ill-advised assault on this base and we'll do just fine."

...Wait, what? But you're not--

[2/3]
>>
>>607447
Write-ins are always an option.
Just because Decu didn't put it in the first place doesn't mean we couldn't have done it.
Did you count when the option to memory dump started cropping up as an alternative, but kept getting ignored by the other voters?
>>
>>607452

"We're the First, Chiaki-san. THE First. I'm not the kind of girl to slap everyone in the face with that every opportunity I get, but we do deserve our reputation at least." Vintage frowns up at you. "We know the risks of what we're doing. We know what Tomoe Mami means to you and the rest of the Magical Girls down below."

You return her frown, and give it your own personal touch: your signature glare.

They're not total idiots, fine. Then, why all this?

"Because forgiving betrayal and treason is not something we'd like to be known for," She replies quietly, after a moment. "As much as it pains me to even admit it, there's no defending Mami for what she did. She's to be made an example of."

How do you react?

[]There must be something we can do. Anything.
[]Take me to Mami. I have to talk to her. Please.
[]Stay silent, let her fill the silence. She obviously has something more to say.

Into a corridor that looks just like any other - except for the trasparent plate glass walls and ceiling revealing nothing but the dark, star-dotted void of space outside.

...Christ, you're on the moon. You're ACTUALLY on the fucking moon.

You should take a picture later, to show Midori. Or Misaka-chan. Or hell, even Kyoko. She'd get a kick out of this for sure.

"Yes, she's to be made an example of, because we don't want to be known for letting someone off for a mental breakdown, which obviously resulted in her mistakenly attacking someone she wasn't supposed to," The diminutive former Warmaster spits bitterly. "No, we'd much rather be known for staying up here with thumbs up our asses while the last Walpurgisnacht made a fucking LAKE of blood from all the Magical Girls it'd murdered. Being reasonable? No, of course not, perish the thought. But cowards? Ah, that's our bag, through and through."

So you're guessing she didn't approve of that particular decision, huh.

"No. I thought that was the worst decision we've ever made. Just like this one." Vintage shakes her head. "We were...we were supposed to be the best, dammit. We were supposed to be protecting everyone. Instead we just sat here and watched everyone die."

Then why didn't they?

"Incubator's orders, why else? All of us wanted to go. But he wasn't having any of it, oh no. We needed to stay back, just in case something even worse was in the horizon. We didn't even get to attend the burial ceremonies. I had to bribe my way to even attending Malal's funeral."

The raven-haired woman huffs as she leads you past what appears to be a series of grandly-framed photographs of Magical Girls, each one looking grand and regal with their emblem-encrusted uniforms. Here, a severe-looking young woman with long black hair frowns at the viewer with an aggressive frown and equally-aggressive eyebrows. In another, a cute brown-haired girl with bright green eyes is all smiles as she holds hands with an awkward-looking, bespectacled young man clutching a body pillow with HER picture on it. And in another--

[1/2]
>>
>>607711

Wait, the body pillow has the girl's picture on it! The girl he's holdng hands with! What the FUCK?

"Anyway, that's...I think that's enough bellyaching for me today." Vintage lets out a sigh, and her grip on your hand loosens the slightest bit as she slows down. "It's...today's not a very good day for me, Chiaki-san, as you can tell. Although I'd wager top dollar it's not a great day for you either." She looks back at you with a tired smile. "Honestly, I'd rather lock myself up in my room with all my illegally-smuggled snacks and simply spend the entire cycle being a useless piece of garbage, but needs must."

That's...er...yeah. Things have been going a bit fast here that you're not sure how to respond.

But back there, when she called you--

"Kyuubey told me." Vintage cuts you off. "Consider me a skeptic when it comes to these things - no, wait, that's putting it mildly. I think it's horseshit, and the Incubators need to stop being superstitious little gits about it." She waves a sleeve-encased hand. "Random mutations due to prolonged warp exposure, nothing else. It just so happened that your mutations matched that of a fictional magical girl deity, from a myth everyone seems to take as bonafide truth nowadays."

Then, the Blessed Lady stuff, she doesn't believe in it...?

"Yes and no," It's here that the former Warmaster's voice takes on a forcibly-patient tone, as if she'd had to explain this a thousand times before. And she probably has. "Blessed Lady stuff - fine, I'm all for it. Some of us need her to cope, and the stuff you see in this job sometimes--well, she provides comfort is what I'm saying. But all the doom and gloom stuff, about the Devil and all that...I think those were just added in by some people with second year syndrome up to the gills."

But what about the...the visions everyone who goes in the Akashic Realm keep seeing? You remember writing that down, so long ago, in your journal. That kinda matches up with things--

"..." Vintage stops in her tracks and looks back at you. "That's...well, that's what gives me pause about this whole thing, but visions - hallucinations - portents - they shouldn't be taken at face value. They shouldn't be a reason for an entire Officio to be put to the sword - and Blessed Lady knows we already murder each other for the smallest of slights." She gives you a pained smile. "But antichrist or not, your secret's safe with me, Chiaki-san. No one else knows."

Right. But...should you two be talking about this here? Out in the open?

[2/3]
>>
>>607702
Well, we could always tell them that they shouldn't want to be known for betraying and lying to the magical girls either. Trust goes both ways if you want it to be important to anyone.
>>
>>607716

The former Warmaster shakes her head. "Consider it handled. Everyone else is either at the feasting hall or preparing the proceedings. If anyone else is actually listening in, all they'd be hearing is the both of us talking about something dreadfully boring." She taps her temple.

"So, really quick, before I drag you to meet people who you desperately need to know. What do you plan on doing?"

How do you respond?

It just doesn't make sense that Mami would loose it, I suspect that pinky/faust is involved, though I'm not sure about if it could be induced by a golden weapon or a more direct method.

Most of all I just want some consequences to stick for once. It's advertised as noir but somehow we always manage to get out slightly better then before. Yuma died but she's back in the weapon. Sayaka didn't witch out. Kyoko didn't die. Chiaki is getting better and takes care of herself more. Now Mami will be saved and all is well again. This ain't noir.

Anon, honestly, creating a fake soul gem capable of fooling The First is impossible at this point. That would have taken a lot of time for preparation. Also, I doubt the girls of The First are going to be fooled by some normal crystal gem breaking. Yours is a plan destined to fail from the beginning, I´m afraid
>>
>>607751
That's you making stupid decisions to get consequences for stupidity.
Film Noir isn't JUST all bad decisions, all bad consequences, all the time.

All won't be well again, since even if we save Mami, any help she can provide will be severely curtailed because the First will still be after her.
And once the First finds out about our wings, they'll still purge the Ninth. Any thoughts of trying to distance ourselves from them in order to protect the Ninth are ignoring the absolute superstitious fear that Homucifer has over the Incubators that are still sane. QB has gone completely batshit insane by the standards of their race, and that's why he's still trying to cover for us.

Anims, I need someone to spoonfeed me. Considering that Decu intends to go to Anonkun, I want to know if there the conversations between the players are recorded like they do in 4chan. One of the funny things in a quest is to see the theories, insults and ideas the anons shared in that moment, and I don't want to lose that...
>>
>>609274
Yeah, they have chat in the sidebar and if you zoom in to the mobile view our hide the sidebar the chat goes in between chapters according to time they were posted. There is a reply mechanism but it is pretty shit so it is mainly like irc where you have to guys who is replying to who from context.
>>
>>609289
There also seems to be a quest forum. Not sure what are it's rules of use though.
>>
>>609274

They are but no ones gonna go and scroll up all the way again.

And the chat at that time isn't linked to the main story posts at that time so unless you're there when its live, you're gonna miss all the shitposting.
>>
>>609304

>>
>>609306

>>
>>609331

>>
>>609347

>>
>>609347
>It prevents me from shitposting
Correct me if I´m wrong, but isn´t shitposting one of the things that the 4chan community dislikes?. It´s damaging for the quests, and you will always have the other boards for that.
>>
>>609401
It also lets people judge you based on your other posts, because you're literally not anonymous.
>>
>>609406
I'm not familiar with the IDs on /qst/ but aren't they only fixed in one thread? As in, if you go to another thread you get a new ID?
That's not so bad. Not like you can accumulate a forum identity. Still not ideal but could be worse.
>>
There's no need to rush the final decision yet. We're doing it on /qst/, we're already forming our opinion of it, we can still do a test play on Anonkun. After that, we can give Decu our feedback and let him decide.

What about doing a chapter of Girls und Titan quest on Anonkun instead? It's still a young series, so moving it to another place won't be as problematic, and most GuTq players come from mgnq anyway.
>>
>>609420
A very good idea, and very good explained
>>
>>609401
If a quest truly differs from some play by post RP, a forum CYOA, or crap like that, it's pretty obviously through the features that an imageboard provides and a forum would not (unless you tailor it to SPECIFICALLY provide those features, like anonkun). IDs simply make 4chan less 4chan, and make questing feel less unique.

This should be obvious, but the quest format also outright increases value by weeding out undesirables. Take your classic pnp party at the table, and imagine you get rid of almost all social features of tabletop gaming, and implicitly all the players that come to hang out and not actually play. What you are left with are people interested in creating a good story. This is definitely grognardy, it is elitism, you may not like it, and it really helps makes this thing really good.
>>
>>609401
>>609419

It also prevents someone who might need to post with an identity to answer something related to him(say a drawfag about a drawing) from posting differently as 'just another anon' in the same quest so that his vote can weighted independently of his other post.
>>

Shitposting is not good or bad, it depends on the use. Some of the best 4chan, and more specifically quest moments can be considered "shitposting", as in jokes or nontopics. Even baiting can be good if done artfully or in the right moment.

The problem comes when newbies associate "any shitposting = good" and start, well, shitting up the site.

If we wanted no shitposting we wouldn't be here.

You grit your teeth here. As much as you want to say the first thing that comes to your mind - to spit out that knee-jerk response that your younger, bloodier self would immediately put into action, no questions asked - you find yourself unable to. Something in the back of your mind, something woven into your own psyche, telling you to wait. To get all the facts first. To find out just what's really happening before jumping off the cliff that may - or may not - kill you before you even make it all the way down.

"I...I have to know more." You manage to say. "I don't...think I have all the facts to make a decision right now."

Vintage looks at you straight, her crimson eyes boring into yours through both your glasses, before nodding. "Good. That's good. I was expecting you to get here with your mind already made up, and that in itself isn't a bad thing, conviction is a virtue after all - but when your decisions carry with it the weight of all the lives in your Officio, you really have to set emotions aside sometimes and do what's prudent. Not right, not wrong, just...prudent."

Something resembling understanding passes between the both of you, before she heads off again, her hand grasping yours. "I can't give you a one-on-one with Tomoe Mami right now, she's in full lockdown and under heavy guard. What I can do is to get you in touch with someone who can help you come to a decision, and provide the assistance that you need."

Really? She can't pull any strings for you? Even just five minutes with Mami will--

"Chiaki-san, we're not exactly a full Officio. We can barely fill three squads at best." Vintage shakes her head. "Everyone knows everyone here, and they know all my tricks." She pauses for a moment here, before correcting herself. "Well, not all, but anyway, my point is there are no strings to pull when there's just one, and the Warmaster's holding all of them."

...Right. Fine. Okay.

So who is this person she's taking you to, then?

"Someone trustworthy. Someone who says they're from your past."

Your past? ...Great. Probably someone with a huge chip on their shoulder, then, looking to get back at you.

Vintage laughs at this, short and harsh. "Hardly. I know her personally and we've done business here and there, maybe tried to kill each other a few times. She's someone who's taken an interest in your unique predicament and wants to help." The former Warmaster looks back at you here. "But with all that said, try to have an open mind when talking to her."

Why's that? You ask blithely, just as the both of you stop in front of what appears to be the room to someone's personal quarters. ...Vintage's, in fact.

"Let's just say she's not the kind of person you get to talk to everyday." The raven-haired Equerry says as she presses a four-number combination on a keypad next to the door itself. The portal opens with a mechanical sliding noise, like a gun being cocked in the dark.

[1/2]
>>
>>609567

Inside, you smell something...enticing. Familiar.

Pancakes.

Mami's pancakes.

You wouldn't mistake that for anything else.

Your eyes go wide as you turn towards Vintage. She shakes her head, a rueful smile curling her lips, before she gestures towards the room itself.

"Get inside, talk. You have a bit of time before they figure out that something's wrong. Get your information while you can."

Your eyes still wide in disbelief, you step inside. The doors immediately clicking closed behind you as you step into a small but well-furnished abode, one with a mini-kitchen at the back.

No, honestly, it feels like a one-bedroom apartment that shut-ins lock themselves in forever, to be found rotting into the tatami when the police come knocking. There's even a kotatsu laid out in front of an old CRT TV, with a dented Famicom hooked up to it.

You've barely pulled off your heels to step onto the tatami-covered floor when you hear it. A voice from the past - but not YOUR past. From someone else's.

"Ah, you're here. The...Nameless One, right? Please, have a seat. I've made you something to eat while we talk."

Its owner stepping out from behind the partition of the mini-kitchen with a tray of pancakes in her hands. Her features concealed in what looks like dark ray-ban sunglasses and a medical mask, the sort you'd wear if you were sick with hayfever and didn't want to be spreading it around on the job.

Wearing a nurse uniform with the Ninth Officio Assassinorum logo embroidered on the front.

No, it's not Mami. Not by a long shot.

Then, who...?

"Please excuse the mess," The nurse says as she daintily places the tray down on the kotatsu table, before taking a seat herself, her stockinged legs folding underneath her. "Despite all appearances Vintage isn't the neatest person around. When I got here there were empty snack bags and candy wrappers all over the place, it was disgusting!"

You immediately take a seat as well, pulling up close to the kotatsu, crossing your legs and placing your hands on the table itself. Despite the urgency of the situation - as well as Mami's impending execution hanging over you like the veritable sword of Damocles - you find your mouth watering at the scent and sight of the pancakes, drowning out your chosen reactions for the moment. ...Christ, just the perfect amount of syrup, too. Just the right amount of butter. No burnt edges or tearing in any of the tiers, and the consistency--

"Oh, please, go right ahead." The stranger says after a long and awkward moment between the both of you, a gloved hand gently pushing the plate of pancakes towards your side of the table. "You look just about ready to keel over. I made it myself, and I promise it's not poisoned or anything like that."

What do you do?

[]Eat. You can ask your questions while you're eating.

Just remembered something. Correct me if I'm wrong but Smartass said that for her lie detection to work she cross-references a person's words and body language against homu's memories. Since she wears a mask and sunglasses, reading her might be impossible for Smartass.

>>609738
Smartass' lie detection can tell if somebody's telling the truth. You won't gain much by asking her if everything she said so far is "I didn't poison your pancakes". Of course she didn't. That's why asking Smartass at this point of time is useless.

>>609756
>supplementary non-canon material...

The wiki has separate "canon" and "non-canon" sections of writeups, so that's why I said she's from a non-canon writeup. Of course, Decu gets to use whatever writeups he wishes as long as he establishes the character sufficiently well.

She taps her temple with a finger. "Remember all those migraines you keep having? That's your brain trying to keep up with ten thousand years' worth of hoarded information and memories. With me, I can cross-check what someone's saying with what I can dig up about them, and tell you if they're bullshitting you based on what I find."

Pretty low in all honesty. The first is made up of the most capable magical girls of all the officios, and they have sentenced Mami to death. Our chances of getting her out are slim to none. Even if we do manage to fake her death, the guys operating the teleporter will know that we are going back home with an extra person. And things only get worse from there.

I'm not saying that there ISN'T a chance, but I'm certainly not saying that this will be easy. We need a solid plan with multiple backup plans in order to work out.

Well, to explain it once again, the sneaky approch would work best.
We won't be abled to transport a body, so we will have to pull another Kyoko, and recreate the Pancakes from her Soulgem.
Then, we only need to smuggle the Soulgem of the moon, so neither the First, nor the Sin send to kill us grabs a hold of our Goddess.
Backuplans are diplomacy, and if shit hits the fan, use violence to escape, and try to pull the entire blame on yourself, so the 9th doesn't get involved.

Sounds solid enough?

And how do you even plan to make the switch when we're not allowed to meet with Mami, before or during the execution?

Honestly we might as well pretend to actually be the Fallen and try to kill Mami and make it look like we are working for the First or some shit so that QB can save Mami and take the firsts place.

FYI that's the most insane plan I could think of and it's still more reasonable than yours.

Like why don't we just fucking goad the Megawitches into attacking while we're at it and escape in the confusion.

Magical girl corpses start to decay or go into a coma if their soul gem is too far away. So if they either don't find a valid soul gem or notice Mami's decay then they will start searching, we will be a priority as we have the most of a link to Mami.

Once they open up our inventory and see our stockpile of guns, bombs and other shit, they will likely assume that we are here with ill intent, and will attack us.
>>

Yes, QB liked to do mental exercises to defeat The First. Sadly for you and him, his exercises ended mostly in frustation and sometimes yhey were entertaining, but always ended in failure.

Chiaki tried to empty her shield once, to check it's capacity. It ended in a hangar full of millitary equipment and no empty bottom in sight. I dunno what happened to the Davy Crockett though, I hope we get to use it someday.
The bottom line is - what was a cool and OP power for the original Homura, for us is just an impractical quirk.

+ Smartass? + You look down on the proferred pancakes, blithely wiping your lower lip on your sleeve.

+ Really? You're asking me to...REALLY? + The one Golden Spirit still inhabiting your Golden Eagle lets out a defeated sigh. + Yes, she's on the leve. The pancakes aren't poisoned. You can-- +

You don't even let her finish. You grab the fork and knife and go to town on what might be the last pile of pancakes you'll ever devour. Cutlery clattering against porcelain as you kill - no, MURDER - the stack in front of you with such ravenous, rapacious gusto that your host is rendered absolutely speechless. You even forgot to slow down enough to even ask your questions!

"...Oh. Oh dear." The black-haired nurse hesitantly speaks up as you finally set your utensils down ten seconds later, your plate so completely reaved clean of any trace of pancakes that it seems that there weren't even any in the first place. "If I'd known you were coming up here with that kind of appetite, I'd have made more." She takes what appears to be a Miracle Midori x Murder Mayumi branded tissue box and hands it to you with one hand, before gesturing towards her own lips with her other. "Got some syrup there. Lower lip and some on your cheek, too."

MORE? That's... No. No, that's fine, you manage to force yourself to say, gratefully taking the box of tissues and ripping off a few sheets to wipe away the last vestiges of your own shameful indulgence. One stack is enough. You're trying to cut down. Besides, there's work to do. Yeah.

"Yes, work. That's what we're here for, for better or for worse." Your host shrugs her tiny shoulders. "In any case, I'll start with the introductions, since it's highly likely you're just about wondering who I am." She sounds like she's smiling, here, and by the creases of her medical mask it seems to be the case. "But first, I hope you'll pardon the mask and glasses. I hate looking like I'm trying to be mysterious myself, but this is for both our sakes, I assure you."

...Right. Okay. You were just about to remark that she looks like some sort of celebrity trying to go incognito and failing hard, but sure. Whatever does it for her.

"Thank you." Again, the tell-tale creases giving away a smile, before she goes all business. "Now, Nameless One, I represent a group of individuals - of which I am a member of - who is aware of your situation and want to offer our assistance. I realize we don't have much in the way of time so I'll just say that we are not being completely altruistic; we have a vested interest in seeing you make it out alive here, one way or the other, whatever you decide to finally do." She looks down on her hands for a moment before looking back at you. "We - I - have it on good authority that you will need all the help you can get once this whole business is done, one way or another. That's why I'm here."

[1/2]
>>
>>609967

...Well. That's...quite an introduction.

"Honesty's refreshing, isn't it?" Another crinkle of the face mask, a glint from behind the dark shades. "Here's some more, then. Tomoe Mami is here because your worst fears are right - she did betray you. She did try to kill Hanegawa Midori as she tried to rescue you from the grave you've dug yourself into. But either through sheer luck or just...something, instead of dying she managed to hit Tomoe Mami with something that not only caused her to stop, but also gave Tomoe Mami the impetus to murder the Warmaster of the First. Or at least attempt to."

Which is...?

"The truth."

The truth? What kind of fucked-up truth would drive someone crazy enough to do something like this? Something like attacking the most powerful Officio in the world - and its Warmaster, no less! And trying to kill Midori--!!

It's here that your host shrugs. "It's not something I'm privy to at the moment, and believe me, it's not for lack of trying. But..." She tilts her head to the side. "Tomoe Mami. You consider her a hero, yes? Despite this little pockmark on her record?"

...It's much more than a fucking pockmark, but yeah. She's...she's someone who could certainly fit that title, you grudgingly reply.

"My guess is that she was trying to be one to the very end. The truth set her free in a way that she realized that the crazy option was in fact the only option to take. And she took it, even if the odds were stacked against her. Even if it's guaranteed that she would never make it off this rock alive, no matter if she succeeded or not." The mask-clad girl spreads her gloved hands. "A true hero by any definition of the word."

That's...hnh...

But what? What could she have found out that made her do this...?

"Only Tomoe Mami would know, Nameless One. And unless you can rip it out of her mind from here without triggering their awful harridan of an undying Culexus - then the only thing you can do here is to ask her yourself."

How do you react?

[]Have Smartass check her for lies.

THEORY:
Mami found out that we are not the BBEG, that role belongs to the warmaster of the 1st. She tried (and failed) to take out 1st's warmaster and is being executed to silence her. This also explains why we are not allowed to visit Mami.

I think it could go either way, dependant on how the warmaster felt on the issue of getting involved with the last Walpurgisnacht.

If she supported involvement, then many of them would be on her side for sharing the same view as them.

If she supported the incubator, the girls on base would not support her for the same reason that they are displeased at the incubator.

It could swing either way. And we need to understand that before we progress with our plans.

That would be hilarious, but the description doesn't really match, she doesn't seem to have much to do up here, and Sanbey still operates on Earth so she's perfectly capable of being still employed with him (maybe she literally acts as his social front now), unless Ahriman actually kills her in the writeups Malal never got around to making.

I mean, the blurb Ahriman made about her being Mami's pupil was very, very vague. No idea what that ever was about.

+ Smartass? + You pulse the name again. This time your other self replies not with consternation or annoyance, but awe.

+ She's...she's on the level here, too. Every word, more or less. + You hear Smartass swallow audibly somewhere in the back of your mind. + I...honestly don't think I've ever seen anyone being this honest with us. I mean, everyone usually has something to hide, but here-- +

"Finished talking with yourself?" Your host cuts in, and you blink at her in sharp surprise.

What? How did she find out? Is she reading your fucking mind? What--

"Heavens, no. Not at all. I can't do that sort of thing." The gauze-masked girl waves a hand in giggling dismissal. "It's that silly look on your face, like someone just remembering they left their hot pockets in the microwave all night and wondering whether they could still be eaten or not."
...

It's here that she leans forward, her chin cupped on her gloved hands as her elbows lean against the table. "What, you didn't realize it? I'm sure everyone else is just too polite to say anything!"

That's...er....

A-anyway. Never mind that, you grunt a bit more forcefully than you meant to, trying to shove that embarrassing moment aside. So, whoever she is and whatever her group is all about, they want to help you, is that it? Help you do what, break Mami out of here? What exactly is she offering, and what's the catch?

"No catch," The raven-haired nurse says cheerfully, leaning back and spreading her hands wide. "Like I said before, this isn't purely altruistic, but we're not the sort to bust your balls especially when it involves..." She makes a vague gesture here. "...all of this. We have no other personal stake in this particular matter except seeing you get off this rock alive.

"Should you accept our help, we'll give you the distraction you need to get to Tomoe Mami and get the truth you're satisfied with. No strings attached, no favors owed - well, except indulging me in another meeting like this and hearing me out. I'll even throw in two stacks of those pancakes you really like."

A distraction.

"Yes, something big enough and scary enough that the First won't be able to help BUT take notice. Not entirely bloodless, of course, but rest assured they won't even know what hit them until it's too late. And depending on how things go your involvement won't even come up - which is probably a whole lot better for your friends down below, right?"

...

"What do you say, Nameless One?"

You're thinking about it.

...And speaking of names, she's been going on about being honest and the truth for a while now, but she hasn't given you her name yet.

"My name isn't that important. Not right now, anyway. Besides, I'm being completely honest with you right now, aren't I? Let's just keep it that way for now."

How do you respond?
