You push Ai's foot off of your head with one arm, throwing her off balance briefly. Despite your throbbing leg, you make it to two feet and square up across from her as she takes her own stance. At once, you start to imagine the possibilities of the Roof Tile Shuriken jutsu. Ai has already demonstrated to you that she can attack not only from the front, but from any angle. The attack is largely silent, and can also be used on the move. It seems that the primary limitation of the technique is the weight of the projectiles. They hurt, but without a lucky strike they would have a hard time injuring anyone.

She crouches slightly, and you tense your body in preparation of a reaction. The more experience you rack up, the more you can see the tell tale signs of movement before it occurs. Her shoulder twitches, and sure enough she flings a single kunai directly towards you.

You drop your hips and leap up with all the might in your legs, twinges of pain shooting through your body again. Truthfully you're not in good condition to be pushing yourself like this. As you jump, you tuck your legs in close to your body and the kunai flies past where you once where. Traveling in an arc, you flip once and come down at Ai with a diving kick. She hops back shortly, forming handsigns. "Roof Tile Shuriken Jutsu!" she says.

Freezing, you try to detect any auditory clues to where the attack could be coming from. There's a rustling of bushes, and stones race towards you from the left. Instinctively, you hop back and the stones soar past your vision. Ai is already forming the handsigns for the jutsu again once the stones cross. This time, an attack from directly behind you.

Again, you crouch down and jump up. This time you're going directly upwards, instead of leaping in to attack. Slinging several shuriken her way, you create a vertical pincer attack. It seems as if she has no chance of dodging except by moving to the side.

Of course, you'd forgotten about her most useful technique. "Tanketsu!"

She flips forward, closing her arms tightly around her chest. She straightens herself stiff as a board, and starts to rotate her whole body at an incredible speed. Your jaw drops as she whirls through the storm of blades and stones, before making a stiff landing. She implants her fist into the dirt as she comes down for balance, and looks up at you with blank white eyes.

"W-wait a second! Are we fighting for real or are you teaching me??"

She grins slightly, and for a moment you're not sure if she knows the difference. Whatever teaching style Kakashi has must be brutal.

Apparently she's taking it a step farther than you had originally thought you were going to go. She's starting to bring out her more powerful techniques in addition to the Roof Tile Shuriken Jutsu.

"Haze Clone Jutsu!"

Thankfully, you have a decent counter to this technique of hers. Really, you could call yourself a bit of a feinting specialist. It's time to demonstrate how far you've come since becoming a Chunin. While you may not have the flashy moves of others, strategy and technique can surmount any obstacle.

Dozens of smiling faces start to fill the clearing, and run around Ai in a clockwise fashion. Some cross through the circle frequently, keeping her on her guard. As you run with them, you look for any possible openings in her guard. Any sort of frontal attack is just going to get shot down by the Tanketsu, so you decide to start by flinging a senbon with a bell attached to her back.

Sure enough, she pivots on one foot and snatches the senbon out of the air. She looks down and furrows her brow, noticing the bell. She's probably already figured out your plan.

Of course, that doesn't mean she can do anything to stop it for the moment. You start to sling out mixes of senbon with bells and without bells. You pick your shots carefully. A silent senbon from the front, first. She sees it and catches it, but you're already behind her to throw one with a bell.

Again, she pivots and catches. By attacking from behind, you're ensuring that she can't take the time to simply dash out of the circle. If she chooses not to follow your clockwise movements she leaves her back open.

You throw a handful of senbon with bells and without at her side this time. She pivots around to anticipate a silent attack from behind, but the auditory reaction of the bells throws her off guard. Despite having highly advanced vision, there are always other senses to mess with. She shuffles to the side but fails to dodge all of the senbon, two striking her forearms.

Keeping up this pace would be easy. If you didn't know your friend had more tricks, you'd be confident in wearing her down like this forever.

But you know that can't happen. What do you do?

Ai clasps her hands together, and uses the Four Witches Jutsu. She's gotten adept at bringing it out much faster. The back of her shirt is ripped apart as her flesh and bone warps to create a fresh pair of slender white arms. She starts to go through a couple of handsigns with her back hands, at the same time that you're using the False Sound Jutsu.

Illusory bells ring across the forest in her mind. You pepper in shots from senbon with bells and without, keeping her on her toes as you watch your ally dodge all attacks with extreme skill. You notice that to counteract your various feints, she's attempting to dodge everything she can sense. Her speed is in a class high above your own. She kicks into a higher physical gear, pushing her body to it's limits as the eyes darting around in her head scan everything. She turns to the sound of a bell, and finds no attack waiting for her. Again the bells ring, but this time it's actually an attack. Needles slip past her face and body, centimeters away from finding their mark. Every now and then one of your shots sticks, though it's impossible to hit a vital point at this speed.

As you're looking at Ai, suddenly your legs are swept out from underneath you. Rocks strike at your knees and shins in a swarm, a broad blast of them hitting your circle of clones. You tumble to the ground and roll up to your feet, quickly retreating back into the clones.

She's pushing you out of the circle with the Roof Tile Jutsu. While she can't injure you for certain, or predict all your movements, a cheap distraction like this limits your freedom. Now you're both at a disadvantage, whoever slips up first gets certain defeat.

Pushing off with your back foot, you use Shunshin to make a surprise attack. At your max speed, a right straight would be pretty devastating. You charge in like an arrow, using the ringing of bells and having your clones swarm her to cover your movements and sounds.

The disorientating attack is nearly too much for her, as Ai panics and leaps directly into the air. She fires off a lightning ball Jutsu directly downward, exploding and briefly wiping out all your clones. You leap back into safety. You're revealed for a moment, before they reform.

She lands, and you notice small droplets of blood forming at the corner of her eyes. She exhales slowly. "Okay, I think that's good. We're both starting to get tired."

Sure enough, your bum leg is trembling fiercely. You disperse your clones. "Jeez..Are you gonna show me the handsigns or is that all?"

She grins. "What, you couldn't copy them just by looking?"

She starts to walk away. "It's not my move to give away. But.."

As she reaches her door, she spins around. "These are the handsigns!"

She shows you the brief series slowly, and you mentally jot down each one. You smile, and give her a thumbs up. "Thanks! Next time we spar I'll use it on you."

"Okay, but next time you have to teach me a jutsu as well."

You nod. "Deal."

Ai shuts her door without saying goodbye. You don't think she was being rude, just another one of her quirks.

I think the issue in those fights were that they did take us seriously, but they didnt go full nuclear right away. in most fights you dont go immediately for the nuclear option (especially in non lethal fights like these tournaments) until you've already tied most other things.

They were building up to it, but the second it got just a bit too tilted in their favor we busted out our nuclear option.

Even if our Int wont increase we can still learn alot about Planning and tactics form Shadowman while studying Genjutsu on our own and have Brother train us to use Iron Fist.
I also think doing Lee and Guy style physical challenges our town when we are not training something specific can help with building speed and stamina. Shit like wearing heavy weights and jogging around the village instead of going on brisk walks would to wonders even if the growth is slow.
