“Alright, everybody listen up!” Griselda stands atop the M4A3E8 Sherman, addressing you all. “Tomorrow is our exhibition match with Gertrude.” Everyone cheers and applauds, apparently excited at the prospect of facing Gertrude Pool herself. You’re a little skeptical if you’re honest. “But today, we’ll be getting to know a few of our partners from across the ocean, St. Gloriana and Kursk Girls Boarding School. Allow me to introduce Rosehip and Orange Pekoe!” The redcoated girls bow to you all, and everyone politely applauds them for arriving to help the team. “Rosehip drives a Crusader III tank, and Orange Pekoe a Churchill VII.”

“What about ZES?” asks Serafina.

“They aren’t participating,” says Griselda. “Anyway, I want everyone to introduce yourselves. We’ll be setting up a bit of an exhibition fair today around dinner time, so everybody keep yourselves cool and limber.”

Iris is the first to properly introduce herself. “Iris Blackbourne.” She curtsies properly to a bemused Rosehip. “I see you are the Commander of St. Gloriana with Darjeeling’s graduation.”

“Mmmm…” Rosehip grabs Orange Pekoe’s shoulder. “Actually, we are co-commander. I defer to Miss Orange Pekoe however on orders! She is the brains and I am the mighty brawn of St. Gloriana!” She looks down at Iris’ tea. “Oooh, is that black tea?” Iris nods. “Ha! Can I have some!?”

Iris smiles a little. She motions one of her club members to pour her some tea. Rosehip immediately downs the entire thing in one go. “HAAAA! That’s amazing!” Rosehip exclaims.

Iris stares at Rosehip. Yeah, she’s not going to have a great day.

Regardless, neither are you, you suppose. Friday seems like it’ll be busy.

Ah forget it. “You going to work?” asks Winona. You nod. “Aren’t you going to introduce yourself to St. Gloriana though?”

You shake your head. “I can do it later. But I gotta get to work now. Today’s the last day for evaluation. This could mean the difference between a promotion or a demotion.” Winona gasps, then nods slowly in understanding. “Now Winona, I want you to make sure things get done in my absence. Wherever Griselda wants to set up her fair, please make sure everyone does their fair share and please make sure our tank is not in anyone’s line of fire.” Especially not the boys, maybe she’ll choose the shade of a tree or something.

She salutes you. “Got it!”

“Great.” You turn around and start walking to the road where you usually meet Denise.

Instead, you find Lang hitched to a tree and a note next to him. Huh? You take the note off.

Ellie,

Gone undercover to help Hall Monitors. I am trying to bust some smugglers right now in fact! I have arranged for Abby to bring you Lang so you can ride to work instead. Enjoy!

Denise :D!!!

Ugh, why did she write that smiley.

Uh… You look up at Lang. He whinnies a bit, ready for you to ride. He’s even got a saddle too. Griselda walks up to you, surprising you a bit. “Something the matter?” she asks.

“Er, nothing.” You’ve never ridden your horse to work. You forgot you even HAD a horse. “Er- I’m just on my way to work, Griselda.”

“Oh, okay!” She smiles at you.

“Well?” She tilts her head.

You decide to climb up onto Lang carefully. Any mistake in this and you might end up like that guy who played Superman. Once you’re on top of Lang, you grab his reins, and allow Griselda to unhitch him. “Well, see you, Griselda.” She looks desperately like she’s trying not to laugh. Oh, whatever! It’s like she’s never seen a girl ride a horse before! You snap his reins, moving off.

-

-

Well, okay, things could be worse. Your back could be broken and you could be lying in a curb as you slowly wither away. But instead you’re just taking the cycling lane with your horse, trundling along at decent pace through the morning traffic. A few looks here and there though making you uncomfortable. It’s like you can feel their eyes boring holes into your back.

You arrive at a red light, and next to you, Jeep Jockey waits a bit tiredly with some groceries in the back. He looks to his left to see you, then looks forward.

Then he snaps his head to the left again to see you. “… the fuck?”

“What.” You glare at him. “You’ve never seen me ride a horse before?”

He shakes his head. “No.”

… oh.

“Gotta say though,” he says. “You riding that horse makes you look majestic. Lemme take a picture real quick.” He pulls out his phone and snaps a picture.

“Ah! You fuck!” You hold your arms over your face. “No!”

“Too late!” Green light. He immediately speeds away. “See you later, fucker!”

AAAAAHHHHH

-

-

Your face is red as a tomato as you step into your office. Ugh! That was so embarrassing! You press your face into your hands, grimacing. Oh! Why you of all people!? “Elodie.” Hilda calls out to you.

“Not now,” you say. You pull your hands off your face.

To see Captain Spruance and Block Officer Hatteberg standing there. FUCK. You stand at attention, almost dropping everything in your bag. “Relax, Lieutenant.” Captain Spruance smiles happily at you, sipping some apple juice from a juice box. “We were just in the neighborhood. You know, today happens to be the day we pick our new Block Officer!”

“Really.” You blink, trying to stand as stiff and proper as possible.

“Yep!” Captain Spruance folds her arms. “Be on the bridge in about an hour, we’ll discuss it with the other candidates in person!” And with that, Block Officer Hatteberg and Captain Spruance leave. “We also left some reports for you to fill out when you get the time, alrighty? Alrighty! Later!” And there the door closes behind them.

You think your wet yourself.

Hilda looks at you. “What now?”

> PANIC CITY

AAAHHHHHHH! You hurry to take off your uniform and get yourself dressed into your gym clothes that you were carrying in your bag. Then you quickly run out of the office and hurry down to one of the laundromats in one of the common rooms. Must clean uniform! Must report to the bridge immediately MUST NOT PANIC!

PANICKING EXTREMELY HARD RIGHT NOW!

You burst into the laundromat, where a Chinese girl looks up. “Oh, Lieutenant, are you-“ You drop your uniform down.

“CLEAN THIS NOW!” you yell. She flinches, dropping her magazine before picking up the uniform.

She blinks, a little frightened. “O-… okay.”

-

-

You tug on your collar a bit, riding your horse to the Command Tower. “Thank goodness that girl was quick,” you say. Your uniform is now spotless, you are arriving at least thirty minutes early, and you have your speech practiced for when you receive your just dues (unlike the first day of school when you were put on the spot in front of thousands of students.) Hm, everything is going well!

You hitch Lang up on the bike rack, where a couple of confused cycling naval studies students are standing. They look at you. “What.” You glare at them. “Is something funny about my horse?” They shake their heads. “He’s not a kiddy ride by the way.” Better warn them, just to be safe.

After an uneventful elevator ride up, you arrive at the Bridge in record time. The XO nods to you. “Captain Spruance isn’t in yet. She’ll be with you soon.” You nod, and decide to stand around and wait.

You check your watch. Maybe you shouldn’t have arrived so early. You hear someone clear their throat and see-

Caldwell. “Well, look what the cat dragged in.” Oh, this girl again. You forgot she existed. She rolls her eyes, smirking at you. “I assume the Captain called you in too as a potential candidate to replace Hatteberg?”

Also, seeing as the thread seems kind of quiet, I'll share an LGA related discovery I made a couple days ago and mentioned in /qtg/. Turns out there was an actual Cromwell IV serving during WW2 named Oliver, and it was a command tank in the 11th Armoured Division's DivHQ. I can't tell if it's the actual Oliver but the tank in this picture is a Cromwell IV command tank from the 11th AD. There was also a Cromwell VII named Victoria and a Challenger named Archer, which I thought was pretty neat.

Yeah, the odds that not only was a tank named the same but that it saw active service and records of its name survived the war is pretty crazy. Victoria's even more crazy as I've only found two named instances of the Cromwell VII, and one of them happened to be the name of the only character in LGA that drove one so far, I thought that was pretty neato. Incidentally, the Czechs kept excellent track of their tank names, especially on their Challengers, notably more so than most British units.
>>
>>551329
Czechs?

Any records of notable actions of their 35(t)s and 38(t)s?
>>
>>551345
I'd have to research it, I was talking about the 1st Czechoslovak Armoured Brigade, a unit that fought with the British during 1944-45. They got Cromwells and Fireflies, as well as an actually surprising number of the Challengers that made it to Europe.

You fold your arms. “She did. And I assume she did for you as well.” Caldwell nods, smiling smugly. Ugh, smarmy little bitch. “Well, may the best girl win.”

“Aw, thanks for cheering me on then,” she says. You roll your eyes.

After a few minutes, more Officers of your rank start to pile in, up to a maximum of at least ten. You all introduce yourselves to each other, happily wishing each other luck. “Captain on deck!” You all quickly move to the wall and stand at attention. The XO leads around the small Captain Spruance, who is happily suckling on a popsicle.

“Alright, alright.” She looks around, smiling at everybody. “Here’s the deal. I need a Block Officer to replace Hatteberg. All of you have been selected and chosen based on my experience with each and every one of you. You possess the maturity, the skillset, and the grace needed to lead quite possibly thousands of students aboard this Academyship in your own little area. So… Who here thinks they have what it takes?” Nobody dares to say they do. That’d be boastful. “No one? Hm. Well, forget about it, I’ve already chosen!”

One of the bridge officers turns around. “Is it me!?”

“Did I ask for you, Lieutenant Rockwell?” asks Spruance. Rockwell shakes her head. “Then no.”

“Aw.” Rockwell pouts, turning back to her console.

“No. I have chosen.” She points to you. “Elodie Zumwalt.” Oh SHIT SHIT YES! “And Caldwell.” What. You two glance at each other.

“Um, ma’am?” You blink.

“Yep!” She places her arms behind her back as the other officers applaud you. “You two were the best candidates and I obviously couldn’t choose between you if I’m honest. One or the other will be promoted anyway.”

Caldwell raises her hand. “Ma’am, that can’t be right.”

“It is because I say so!” says Spruance. “You will have separate offices, but you will share the duty of Block Officer until further notice. Any questions?” You shake your heads. “Good!”

Also, Schteel would you say an assessment of Trude as a solid but only competent tactician/strategist is fair? She seems to lean far more on using her charisma/rapport with her team to get the most out of them and then leave her subordinates to mostly their own devices within a very general and basic battle plan.
>>
>>551571
It's pretty fair. She herself is a beast individually (owing to be an MC) but she's only above average in terms of competence with tactics and strategy.

The Pool sisters actually vary wildly with the tactics they want out of their team. Whereas Gertrude now emphasizes individualistic tactics and harassment play, Griselda is far more cautious and focuses around the team aspect and support. In this sense, Gertrude puts a lot of trust in her individual players compared to Griselda, whom she prefers to do a bit of micromanaging from time to time when her Officers aren't doing anything.

“I am, thank you.” You salute her, as does Ensign Caldwell. The two of you give a nasty glance at each other, then look back at the Captain.

“Alrighty! You two get the rest of the day off then!” she declares. “Rest of you, back to work. Go ahead you two and feel free to explore your new facilities, move your stuff in. I don’t really care what you do either way, just make sure there’s nothing in there that I wouldn’t show to my grandmother. I’ve had problems with Officers doing that, wasn’t fun. Got it?”

“Yes, ma’am!” you both call.

“Good, dismissed!” She walks up to her Captain’s chair and plops herself down, smiling as she reads the morning reports over a soda.

Ensign Caldwell glares at you as the two of you enter the elevator. “Let’s get one thing straight here. I’m not going to sabotage you if you don’t sabotage me. We’re not going to get anywhere if we visibly hate each other.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t have started anything,” you say.

“Hmph.” She turns her nose up. “Truce until the Captain promotes me?” She holds out her hand.

As I thought, that's something we can work with. While Gertrude's team are used to and will play better individually (not helped by the fact they're probably straight up more skilled than us) we can work as a cohesive unit more effectively. Combine that with Trude's tendency to split her force into two or three echelons and send them directly to the most important strategic positions on the map I think there's a plan beginning to foment.

You continue holding this stinkeye through the lobby, out the door, until finally you part ways in the parking lot. Hmph, what does she know. Truces, promotions. Well- you have a fucking HORSE! You look to Lang, who neighs as you walk up to him.

Hehe, to horse!

You dial up Denise. “Denise.”

“Oh, hi, Ellie! Did you get my letter? Is Lang treating you alright?”

“Yeah. I hope I’m not interrupting your-“

“No, no, it’s alright!” She whispers through the phone. “If anyone asks, you’re my girlfriend.” What. “I need to act tough.” What? “So what up, bitch!? You gonna send me them titties over the phone or do I gotta come over and see ‘em for myself!”

You’ve ceased to function.

“… so whaddy want?” she asks.

“I just need some stuff from my office to be moved, I got promoted.”

“Oh, yay! I mean- tough luck BITCH!” She whispers to you again. “I’ll be around to move them tonight.” Good.

“Um, where exactly are you?”

“NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!” she yells. “Gosh! I mean- fuck!” You roll your eyes. “Anyway, I gotta go. Later, Ellie! Can’t wait to pump that ass!” She hangs up on you.

You texted Lieutenants Massey and Kotsiopoulos about the fair, requesting their assistance. After weaving through traffic, you manage to get yourself to the Racing grounds, where the fair will be set up and be opened through Saturday and Sunday and tonight. You trot along on top of Lang and find the two of them sitting on the curb drinking some Sprite.

Athena was the tanned one with deep brown eyes and black hair. Her uniform was wildly different from the others, wearing a set of work pants underneath her skirt, as well opening her work blouse up to show the white tank top underneath, not to mention the large brown work gloves she wears as well along with her toolbelt.

Tessa was the one wearing sunglasses, brushing back her fluffy blonde hair into a pair of loose pigtails and wearing the more standard uniform, complete with pantyhose in fact. You hitch Lang on the bike rack next to them and smile. “Hey you two.” They stand up, and immediately salute you. “At ease, we are here to have a little bit of fun, how about that?”

“Thank you, ma’am,” says Tessa. “It’s not every day an Officer actually spends time with her subordinates.” You notice that her eyes seem a bit unfocused behind her sunglasses, and yet she’s hanging off your every word. “And might I say, you have a very lovely appearance about you.” Oh, well- You cough, trying to suppress the blush on your face.

“She’s just being nice,” says Athena. “We are glad for a bit of time together with our future Commander. Hopefully we’ll get to know each other. Though, why we’re helping you set up the fair for tonight is a bit of a question, ma’am.”

“Don’t worry,” you say. You step into the fair grounds, and find each and every team busy trying to set up their booths and exhibits. Even St. Gloriana and Kursk are setting up one big booth to advertise their teams.

Tessa says, “We do have experience with tanks I suppose.”

> Cromwell III: Elodie
> M18 Hellcat: Dalia
> Crusader III: Rosehip

> Help your own crew set up.

You arrive to see Oliver the Cromwell and your crew working on polishing and perfecting his look. A booth has been set up for the crew to take autographs or pictures with anybody who wants it. Winona looks over, smiling happily. “Ellie!” She off the turret and walks up to you three. “Who are your friends?”

“Athena and Tessa,” you say. “They’re my new members of my retinue.”

Stack walks up to Athena. “Hey, I know you!” She holds up her elbow. “Salute!” Athena rolls her eyes, then bumps her opposite elbow against Stack’s, then the other elbows as well, then a very powerful fistbump to end it as if they were loading a shell. “Ha! You are a loader!”

“Yeah.” The fuck kind of salute was that? Athena smiles a little. “What are you guys working on?”

“We were just putting the finishes touches on Oliver, gotta make him presentable.” Josephina walks up to you all. “He is our star after all, next to Elodie of course.” Aw, Josie. “By the way though, Elodie. I believe that Winona had something in mind for you.”

Oh shit.

Winona grins, holding up a sign that says, “ELODIE KISSING BOOTH – 1$ for cheek – 20$ for lips”

“No,” you say harshly.

“Fine!” Winona tosses it away. “Knew you’d never go for it.” Of course not! “No, I just figured you’d wanted to wear a swimsuit or something lewd to really get people’s eyes on our tank you know?”

“You wear the swimsuit,” you say. “I’ve had enough of being everyone’s sex toy. Besides.” You point to her belly and her hips. “You’ve got a better body than I do.”

“Awww, thank you!” Winona smiles happily. You roll your eyes at that. “See, she’s so nice!” says Winona to your subordinates. “Want to help setup the booth, Ellie? We’ve got some sheets and tarps to lay out before we’re done.”

“Sure.” You nod, then motion Athena and Tessa to follow you. With this, you start to finish up the last of the booth preparations. Athena and Tessa set up an open-air tent where you all can rest and even show off some souvenirs from various matches. Stuff like spent shell casings, broken parts, the works. Winona even has setup a little area for Cuddles to hang out in and be shown to everybody.

As this happens, the foreign crews arrive. “Ohohoho! Look at this!” Rosehip walks up to Oliver. “A Cromwell! We have a few of these at St. Gloriana!” You smile at her, walking up to her along with Stack as well. “Zumwalt-san! You have a very amazing tank at your disposal!”

“Thank you,” you say.

Stack leans over to Orange Pekoe. “Salute!” Orange sighs, bemusedly smiling before handing her cup of tea to Rosehip and performing the apparent Loader’s Salute with her. “Ha! Yeah!”

“What is that?” you ask.

Stack does the loader’s salute with Rozaliya as well. “It’s the Loader’s Salute! The universal greeting for loaders all over the world! My sisters taught it to me!” she says. Oh, well, you suppose that’s a little neat tradition.

Rosehip smiles. “Here is how we will be composited for the match, Zumwalt-san!”

> Rosehip (Crusader III – QF 6 Pndr “Thunder Child”) *ELITE*

“It looks good,” you say. “I have to say, thank you again for helping us even the odds against Gertrude’s ITL team. It really means a lot to us. I’m sure Griselda appreciates it especially.”

Orange Pekoe smiles at you. “Lafayette Girls Academy is a very honored school amongst us. We would never turn down the opportunity to fight alongside you. Of course, Griselda-san’s onee-san is a worthy foe for St. Gloriana.”

“Yep!” Rosehip pumps her fist. “Can’t wait to remove the limiter and speed into battle with you regardless!”

“OH HO HO HO!” Rosehip grins. “We will destroy them!”

Rozaliya smacks her chest, grinning. “We will being of destroy the Gertrude Pool!” You look at Stack, who simply shrugs in response. The Vietnamese Girl next to Rozaliya who you assume is Nguyen also glances away in embarrassment.

Griselda however comes walking up. “Hey you guys!” You all smile at her. “You almost ready for the fair tonight?”

“Yep!” Stack smiles. “We got a show to put I do declare!”

“That’s great! You…” Griselda squints past you, then pushes you gently aside. Everyone looks at her confusedly. You look to see Tessa and Athena finishing up the tent. Oh. Oh! Griselda leans over to you. “What are they doing here?” she asks you quietly.

“I thought I’d bring them along. They’re part of my staff now,” you say.

You call over Tessa and Athena. “Hey, Tessa, Athena! Come over here!” Griselda looks as if she’s about to run, but she stands her ground it seems. Tessa and Athena walk over, curious as to what you’ve asked them over for until they lay eyes on Griselda herself.

Griselda smiles at them, apparently nervously. “… hey.”

“Hi.” Athena folds her arms, sort of awkwardly staring at Griselda.

“Um, nice to see you, Griselda,” says Tessa.

Okay, you probably did the bad thing here.

“See you’re still doing Tankery,” says Athena. “Thought after last year you would’ve…” Griselda glares intensely at Athena. “I’m sorry, that’s- that’s the wrong thing to say. We’re glad you’re sticking with it but um… yeah.”

“Yeah.” Griselda places her hands on her hips. “It’s great. I’m sure you two are doing good too.”

“We are,” says Tessa.

The tension between the three of them feels so thick that you could cut it with a knife. But Griselda ends it with this: “Well, I should get going. I gotta get a basic plan together for the match tomorrow anyway.”

Rosehip smiles, stepping between them. “Oi, oi! I can get us all some tea to celebrate our hard work, how about that?” Griselda nods, stepping away.

Oh boy. That was awkward.

Well fuck, something's just come up and I've now got to pop out for an hour or so, I'll still be on mobile but won't be able to do as much with the planning as I'd like, so here's the general gist of what I think our strategy should be, using the ORBAT I layed out here >>552124, (sorry about the wall of text, was gonna edit things down for the actual post):

Trude is a solid but only competent tactician and strategist (she actually leaves much of her planning to her Driver, Lisa), instead she leans on her charisma and the capabilities of her crews to win, getting the most out of those fighting for her. This works, but it has also made her tactics predictable. She will, almost without fail split her team into two or three elements and send them to secure the most obvious strategically important locations in a given match. This isn't a bad plan, it gives her good versatility and her crews and commanders are flexible enough that giving them broad directives like this and room to manoeuvre on their own works. BUT, this kind of strategy reduces the cohesiveness of her force as a unit, and leaves them spread out across the field, leaving them vulnerable to a full strike against one of these elements. Griselda on the other hand is similar but she has a greater focus on unit cohesion within her plans as well as being more hands on in their creation. She also has Elodie, who's pretty good at this tactics thing.

To counter Trude's style, we will endeavour to contact, isolate and obliterate one of her elements as before reinforcements can arrive, using superior coordination and planning to counter their likely greater skill. The Anvil platoon will deploy in their path and draw fire while advancing, hoping to lure the enemy in with the prospect of flanking opportunities. Using this time, the Envelopment Platoon will use their speed and the terrain to bypass this unit unnoticed before wheeling around and striking from the rear and moving to prevent their escape, while the Command Platoon comes in from a flank and smashes the enemy against the Anvil. To prevent Trude intervening, the Area Denial Platoon will have be placed on a vantage point with good sight lines and concealment/cover (a lightly wooded ridge, hill, etc) that will allow them to strike at the elements Trude will send to take the other strategic location/s. This way they will have to either first defeat our entrenched, lethal tank destroyers or retreat before coming around to assist their fellows, buying us the time we need to wipe them out. The Area Denial platoon is unlikely to survive this plan, but they are also unlikely to be defeated bloodlessly, especially if Trude tries to rush to the aid of her beleaguered platoon.

After this engagement we will push onto the strategic position the enemy platoon was aiming to secure and then pivot to receive Trude's reinforcing elements. From here on out we'll have to make our plans in the field.

> Go follow Griselda.

“Griselda.” You follow on after her. “Griselda, I’m sorry. I didn’t think things would be that awkward.” You seriously were hoping that they parted on more amicable terms. “I hope that wasn’t too bad.”

“No, it was perfectly fine seeing my old crewmates again,” says Griselda. “Especially after they quit the team after I let them down during quite possibly the worst day of my life.” Oh jeez. She looks at you, more disappointed than angered it seems. “Ellie, next time, try and stay out of my business with my former team. What happened between us isn’t your concern.”

You bite your lip, then nod. “Um, sorry.”

“It’s alright.” She waves it off. “I didn’t mean to holler at you.” You and her step into her tent next to her Sherman, where she’s laid out a tactical map of the area. “I’m just busy concerning myself with the match with Gertrude and then there’s Hugo Gernsback next week. Did you know that Hugo Gernsback has twenty Jagdtigers?” What. “I don’t know how or why that’s happened, but it’s happened.”

“Well. I’m sure we can beat them,” you say.

“Them, yes. My sister, different story.” She sits down at a chair. “Honestly… I feel dead tired.” She gently shoves the map to you. “If you want, you can come up with a plan on your own. I just want a bit of time to rest and have some fun. I guess that’s just a bit too much to ask for honestly. At least it’s a Flag Match.”

You know what I'm going for in general terms and I can do the exactitudes when I get home.
>>
>>553114
Well we can throw
>>553012
out the window.

If we have any nautical tanks then send them round the side while the rest advance slowly up the roads using the forests and not the roads.

If we don't have the flanking option then slap the area denial group on the inlets because they have the best view ranges there. Everyone else stack up on the forest/roads and wait for contact.
>>
>>553149
Nah we can put the Area Denial platoon on the ridge to the west of our starting position, then force an engagement near Johnson town against the force Gertrude will send there.
>>
>>553114
>> Come up with a plan.

>>
>>553170
Is the green forest or ridges?
>>
>>553173
You'll get it tomorrow.

I haven't actually put together a list of Gertrude's tanks anywhere but it's mostly veterans of the last Quest.

>>553187
Green circles indicate sight blocking forests.
>>
>>553170
>>553187
>>553191
Then I stick with my original plan. That 'ridge' is the worst possible location for our area denial tanks. It's too far back to be effective and they're going to get bogged down something fierce.
>>
>>553114
Basically the gist Trude's strat will hinge around securing the two towns in the West and center while pushing the 600 road. From the Western Ridge (that is a ridge right?) our long range killers can take care of the latter two preventing them from moving across the open ground to outflank us while we concentrate the rest of our tanks and smash them at Johnson town.
>>
>>553199
Mate, those aren't ridges. It's a fucking water feature. There is NO FLANK. It's literally a head to head confrontation.
>>
>>553207

We might able to pull Edelweiss on them
>>
>>553191
I just assumed they upgraded some of their tanks since we couldn't due to the time limit.

Not to mention we made a lot of money in which I recall you kind of blocked up because we made too much.
>>
> Come up with a plan.

“Well, Griselda, I’ve watched a lot of Gertrude’s matches in the past,” you say. “She’s very reliant on the individual tank being effective on its own. Otherwise, her tactics are pretty predictable. Three teams, all of them securing important objectives. This is a very narrow map to fight on, so I believe an area denial team made up of our long range killers can be effective on a single chokepoint, while a fast attack team led by me, another team led by Iris, and another by you will be effective. Coordination is key.”

Griselda nods at that, smiling admirably at you. “I see.”

“Basically, I believe that we can defeat them in detail by attacking them piecemeal, throwing back any attacks they try to make on the chokepoints, and advancing by team covering each other. As for the specific details… I think we can settle that when we get there.”

She claps for you, smiling happily. “Textbook.” You nod, shrugging a bit. “Well, I think we can figure out the details later but that is a very admirable plan.” She stands up, smiling. “Fair starts in about half an hour, I’ll get some dinner going for everybody.”

“Right,” you say. “So it’s a good plan?”

“On paper, but no plans survive the test phase I feel,” she says. “Anyway. It’s a fair tonight. Let’s have some fun tonight!’

Right, fun, fun.

The left side of the map is the Chesapeake Bay, the right side is the Atlantic Ocean. Not to mention it's going to be slick, boggy, oceanic silt. If we do drive into the water, we want to stay near the shore and be VERY careful. As in "someone riding on the front of the tank checking the depth with a stick" careful.

Orange Pekoe pours you some Darjeeling tea to drink as people start flooding into the fair. You see that the Polish and Naval Studies Rescue crews have combined an exhibit together and are taking payments to allow a visitor to step into a tank’s interior. The Junior Historians are performing a history-based comedy play for the littlest girls too young to actually attend school. And even the Etiquette Club is signing autographs and taking pictures with people excited to meet them.

“So, how did you become commander of the team?” you ask.

Orange Pekoe smiles. “I inherited the role from Darjeeling-sama when she graduated. I also inherited her tank, Kingforce.” She sighs nostalgically. “We made very good memories in that tank, knocked out many opponents. Even came close to winning the Nationals at one point.”

You smile. “This tank must be very important to you.”

“It is.” She takes a sip of her own tea. “Darjeeling-sama entrusted this tank to me. And soon I’ll entrust the tank to my next protégé as well. That is the Saint Gloriana senshadou.”

“Wooooo!” Rosehip arrives on a bike borrowed from the Motorcycle Club. Her jacket is tied around her waist, flopping around as she drives the bike. She pops a wheelie, grinning as she bounces the cycle around you two, with a very calm Orange Pekoe simply drinking her tea. “Pekoe-chan, you need to try this! Yeeehaw!” She ends up losing the jacket and it flies right into your arms.

“Oh goodness.” Orange Pekoe frowns at that.

You see a nametag on the inside of it. Assam. “Who’s Assam?” you ask.

Nguyen nods, smiling. “Thank you very much, Elodie.” It is sort of strange that a Russian school would have a Vietnamese student. Rozaliya takes Nguyen’s hand, then happily leads her off to go check out the interiors of the Polish student’s tank.

“Say,” you say. “Do you know why Kursk has Nguyen?” you ask. “Are they big on transfer students?”

Orange Pekoe explains it thusly. “Kursk Girls Boarding School is actually very big on recruiting and claiming Tankery prodigies before other schools can get them, they have been doing this for the past three years or so. They fund schools in other countries to get them to sponsor a Tankery program, and pluck the best and the brightest from those teams and offer them scholarships to attend Kursk Girls Boarding School.”

“Really? Isn’t that a bit…”

Orange Pekoe shakes her head. “Even if there are not any students worth taking, they still continue to fund the schools regardless. Many schools such as in Vietnam, China, Korea, and other former Soviet Bloc countries thank Kursk for jumpstarting their poor schools by introducing Tankery to them.” Well, if they aren’t complaining you guess. “Rozaliya there happens to be from a family of Cossacks, who were very poor. But Kursk gave her the opportunity to compete.”

“I see.” Well, isn’t that something. “I should go check on my team, Orange Pekoe, hope you don’t mind.”

“I will look forward to our next meeting.”

“Winona.” You step up to your booth. “How’s the-…” You see a very thick crowd of boys around the booth, happily shooting the shit and smiling as Winona corals them around the tank. “What the hell?”

Jack Cochran and Winona look over at you. “Hey there!” Winona smiles, wearing nothing but a black bikini and an open white blouse. A few boys give her the very lustful stare to boot. Ugh. “I was just showing the boys around our tank!”

“Impressive stuff,” says Jack. He quickly pulls a very embarrassed looking Jeep Jockey out of the crowd. “I also heard there was a kissing booth round these parts, figured I’d pop the Jock’s cherry so to speak!”

“Jack, we talked about this,” says Jockey.

“We did and I’ve decided to ignore it!” he says proudly.

“Well, there’s no kissing booth here,” you declare. All the boys groan in disappointment.

“Ah, it’s nice to see the tanks anyway!” says Jack.

You open up the hatch, showing Jeep Jockey, Jack, and a few other boys where you work. “That’s where you have to sit the entire match?” asks Jack. You nod. “Jesus Christ. Hold on.” He shoves his legs inside, then the rest of his body. “Oh shit! Whoa! Dang it!” He catches his arm on the edge of the hatch. “Fuck me, this is cramped!”

“You think that’s cramped!” You look down to see Tony Speranza trying to squeeze into the driver’s hatch. “I can’t even fucking breathe!”

“What kind of madman designs things that people can’t fit into!?” says Jack.

“I fit into them just fine,” you say. “Stop being a bunch of pussies.”

“Just saying!” Jack reaches his arm up, looking at you. “Skycraft, at least we fit in the planes. If you gained like five pounds, you wouldn’t be able to fit in this.” He tries to wrench himself out. “Motherfucker. This is what we gave you a Merlin engine for?”

“Yes,” you say. “Inside is a QF Six Pounder, along with a BESA machine gun.”

“Six Pounder eh?” He looks to Jeep Jockey. “Hey, doesn’t that British school roll Mosquitos with that?”

“They do, use ‘em for blanking us at range,” says Jeep Jockey. Wait what? He sees your surprised expression. “Ellie, Skycraft is a very uh… we like to think outside the box when it comes to beating our opponents. And that means things can get a bit hectic.”

Jack nods. “I slipped my wing underneath another guy’s wing once and forced him into a flat spin.” What!? That’ll kill someone! “Then there was that time I shaved a tail with my prop. Then I blinded a guy once with my leaking oil after I got shot up. Then there was that time I rammed a bomber or two…”

“That sounds barbaric,” you say.

[1/2]
>>
“But it’s fun as shit!” says Jack. “You should try it! Hell, my plane’s big enough for two!” You glare at him a little. “Just saying. Anyway, we do kind of roll the same stuff you guys do. Elimination and then there’s Bomb Run too. But we have much bigger teams, none of this 20 on 20 stuff, we can have up to 50 planes a team. It gets really chaotic up there.” 100 planes at once? Jesus. A lightbulb seems to go off in Jack’s head. “Of course, whenever Jeep Jockey gets good at flying planes, he’ll be among those 50. Maybe he’ll paint you on the side of his nose.”

“Jack!” Jeep Jockey blushes a bit. “Come on, don’t fuck around.” He snickers a bit. Ugh, as if you’d want to be some idiot’s nose art. “Look, forget about that.”

“It’s whatever. What kind of nose art do you have anyway?”

“Varies. Usually we stick with the good old sharkface stuff but I know some guys like to paint their girlfriends on the side of their noses, supposed to be real good luck,” he says. As if. “Hey, maybe you can paint us on the side of your tank! Get you some luck!”

“No thanks,” you say.

Let's see how our new crews are managing, talk to the Light Music Club and Automotive Club.

Also, bad news, the area appears to be flat as a board, or close enough to. However there is a good spot in Machipongo where the Area Denial Platoon can hole up and protect our flank from any enemy manoeuvres out of Trehernville or further East.
>>
>>553936
That's a bit too close to the forest. They'll get ambushed pretty badly by a rush up the 600.
>>
File: Showmatch Plan.jpg (231 KB, 1281x770)

231 KB JPG
Okay, rough outline of my current plan. First, we punch out to Machipongo with Area Denial and Anvil Platoons, while Hammer and Harrasment Platoons cut cross country to approach from the outside flank. AD will take up a position in the woods just NW of Machipongo where they can effectively cover against ITL advances down Seaside Rd (600) or from Treherneville (that clearing looking area to the left of 622 and 625, it's actually the largest town in the area) without Trude having to first backtrack, though it'll still be a close run thing.

Anvil will move to contact with Trude's Johnsontown force, but not make too much of a fuss, behave like they've been caught out of position or whatever, pull back and attempt to draw the enemy forward into or even better, past Johnsontown proper. Then, having forded the shallow creeks on their route, Hammer and Envelopment Platoons will hook around and smash the enemy. Hammer will focus entirely on crushing them against Anvil (obviously) but Envelopment will move slightly further East into the woods there and serve the dual purpose mopping up any tanks that escape the attentions of Hammer and Anvil as well as delay any counter attack from ITL forces in Treherneville.

I'm not going to lie, it's not a plan I'm entirely happy with, the terrain here won't favour us and the tightness of the AO will prevent us from really pulling Trude's team apart like we'd want to, but if we execute the plan with confidence and skill I am confident we can pull a solid start to the match out of it. It also keeps our units relatively close allowing for potential regrouping if Trude doesn't slit her attention perfectly.

>>554002
It's not perfect, but it has good sightlines East towards 600, they'd have to run a gauntlet to get past and then wheel around or charge across over a km of nearly completely open ground to engage directly.
>>
> Hang around the booth a bit more, before the sun goes down.

You decide to hang around the booth for a while. “Josephina.” She blinks, looking at you. “How are things with the tank, new seat okay?”

She nods happily. “Oui, of course!” She places her hands on the front of the tank, rubbing the metal a bit. “There is some issue of the new seat sort of bumping my rear a little.” Huh? “But it works as intended! And I am very comfortable! I must be sure to thank Oleg more properly later.”

One of the boys walks past, then notices Josephina. “Whoa!” He looks up at her. “Jesus, you’re a big unit!” He walk past, snickering a bit. Josephina blinks, a bit perturbed at that.

“Just ignore him,” you say. “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Stack walks over. “Yeah, but seriously Josie. You’re fucking gigantic.” For fucks sake, Stack.

“I-… I mean. I know my height is sort of imposing,” says Josephina. “But I suppose that is what makes me unique! My father says no bully would ever mess with me on the school grounds because I was so big at the time! It did not stop them in middle school though.” Ah, yes. Fuck Middle School.

“Well hey, I think being tall has its perks,” says Stack. “You can reach stuff on the high ceilings. People look up at you instead of down at you. You get the big outfits to wear which are so cozy!” Josephina smiles a little. “I like that about you Josie!”

“Well…” Josie blushes a bit. “Merci beaucoup.”

> + 5 MORALE TO JOSEPHINA

With the sun going down, and with dinner in your stomach and a bit of fire in your hearts, the fair starts to close down for the night. Your tanks are being loaded onto transporters now for the long road to the starting points. “Hey, Griselda!” Jack meets with Griselda outside of the Race grounds, smiling. “Me and the boys will be rooting for you, alrighty?”

“Alright,” says Griselda. She offers her hand, and Jack shakes it. “Thanks, Jack.”

“Don’t mention it. But hey, we gotta step up our practice game though. Our tournaments in the Fall, which means it’s coming sooner than we think.” Griselda sighs, frustrated. “It’s only for a month! Don’t worry!” Oh great. “Later, GrisGris!” The boys all leave.

Griselda sighs. “I hate Jack sometimes.”

Winona sighs a bit. “He’s such a dreamboat though.” She quirks her brow at you. “And that Jeep Jockey would make a great match with a certain somebody-“ You pinch Winona’s ear. “OW! OW! OW! LET GO!”

[1/2]
>>

“Anyway, tomorrow’s the match,” says Griselda. “Get some sleep. And don’t worry about winning or losing. It’s an exhibition match. Okay?” You all nod. “Good, we’ll meet up at the Rally Point.” And with that, you decide to go your separate ways.

Except… “Griselda,” you call out to her, leaving you and her alone to talk on the street. “Listen, I know this might not be easy, fighting your sister.” She stops you with a rise of her hand.

“Look. I know me and my sister have our differences. But this is a friendly match. And there will be friendly times abound,” she says. “Okay?”

Essentially this.

Simple fact is, Trude is closer to the forest and will probably get there first. Her teams are better and more coordinated because they've fought together before. Best bet is a defensive action to bleed them out as they advance.

One caveat is to have a flanking force hiding in the forest east of our starting position. No I wouldn't use the Jadg because it's too fat and it'll get bogged in the mud. Also, it's the obvious choice. Shove Rose in there with the other fast tanks and when the moment is right, tell her to let them rip.
>>
>>554099
I just have an exceedingly low opinion of Japanese tanks, the Chi-To is okay, and it was basically the best they ever developed.

>>554107
> Marshes
I know, I picked the shortest possible route for them but the alternative was taking a detour and limiting our ability to hide the flanking manoeuvre.

> Machipongo is going to block your line of sight.
Actually it won't at least not for the most part, looking at google maps the buildings end basically in line with where Roza will set up our big guns, so we only lose a tiny portion of our view/firing lines to the East.

>>554150
This isn't a bad plan, but it surrenders initiative to the inferior tactician with the superior force, cancelling our advantage and letting her maximise her own. We'd be letting her dictate the pace and flow of the battle and in a straight fight with the whole ITL team, we'll probably lose.
>>
>>554150
Can't we use it for area denial or just a huge artilery piece?
>>
>>554062
> “Don’t be too obsessed with beating her."
> “Let’s just have some fun.”
Giver her a smirk and a pat on the back. We are the rally point for our commander.
>>
>>554181
Yeah but the Chi-to and Chi-nu, are perfectly good tanks to use.

Also even if the 120mm Chi-Ha is a bit weak it will make a decent tank destroyer given it's caliber. Though the upgrading it will be important.

Though I really hope she does give us something
>>
> “Don’t be too obsessed with beating her.”

“Don’t obsess yourself with beating her,” you say. “This is just for fun you know.”

“I know that,” she says. “Forget about it, Ellie. Honestly, it’s beneath me!” She places her hand on her heart. “Trust me, when we get into the match tomorrow, it’ll be all sunshine and rainbows. Especially since our Dad is gonna be watching. And we can’t exactly look like we’re fighting in front of our Dad.”

“Of course.” You fold your arms. “I just worry for you as all.”

“Aw.” She smiles warmly. “Well, thanks, Ellie. You’re a sweetheart.” You grunt, blushing a bit at that statement. Hmph, sweetheart nothing. “Tell you what, I’ll treat you to something after the match, we can have some fun together maybe. Okay?”

“We’ll see,” you say.

“Well, good night then, Ellie.”

With that, Griselda turns around, waving goodbye to you. “Good night, Griselda.”

You place your hands on your hips. This honestly is genuinely worrying.

A battle between sisters.
>>
>>554181
Yes I already covered that. A defensive fight is still an advantageous one.

>>554189
The issue I have is this.

Do you really think Gertrude is going to be scared of it? Or her team for that matter? They'll just shove smoke everywhere and drive straight in anyway. They're not the sort to shy away just because it has a big gun. That's part of the reason I don't like the other plan because it's way too easy to get outflanked and completely squashed in. It's relying on the hope (not the worst one) that Trude is going to shy away from the defensive force and falter before it. I'm not convinced that will happen.

Not in this case, retreating will simply give Trude room to sit back and bombard us, she has two tanks capable of Indirect Fire and if we slowly back ourselves into a corner (which is what Vaucluse is) we'll just open ourselves up to that. Not to mention a successful fighting retreat while turning the flank is an incredibly hard manoeuvre to pull off, and liable to turn into a rout if even one part pulls back too slowly or quickly.

> Do you really think Gertrude is going to be scared of it?
No, but she's not an idiot, she'll send her light tanks to deal with it by outflanking it then attack, instead of throwing away tanks charging it (you can smoke all you want but you wont get through more thank 500m of open ground unscathed). An attack which will take time for her to complete, time we can use to crush her other force.

>>554250
Thanks for running Schteel, catch you tomorrow.

>>554233
The 120mm is a naval gun, it's more an SPG than a TD, it also had to be loaded externally, as the loader+shells wouldn't fit in the turret.
>>
>>554280
While your tanks are bogged in the marsh and her light tanks get a paved road to use.

So retreat but keep Rosehip with light tanks in the forest. Once the enemy get stuck in, send her on 600 and find the enemy Artillery and knock them out.

A quick google and acceptance of Wikipedia's sourcing says 90mm at 100m. I'm not sure what criterion that was by but I'll be generous and assume it means an APCBC round at 30 degree angle RHA. Which puts its performance at similar to slightly worse than our 6 pounder, but with a heavier shell and larger gun, with a lower velocity.

The type 5 is far more capable, apparently it'll go through 160mm of flat RHA at 100m firing AP, more like the performance of the M1 76mm gun, though I don't believe the Japanese ever developed 'high performance' rounds like APCR or APDS, or even APCBC so I'm not sure how well it would hold up in comparison a gun as versatile as the 76mm.

Apparently one Chi-Nu Kai prototype was finished but I've never actually seen any documentation about it other than WoT stuff, though I haven't really researched it either so idk. And with how liberally WG tend to interpret 'prototype' it could've been a wooden mockup or an incomplete hull/turret and they'd have called it good enough.
>>
>>554572
But they tested the turret with the chasiss with the gun. So it should be legal in terms of Tankery considering the other prototypes that showed up.

Wargaming at least had the sources for it. so it should be somewhat credible.
>>
>>554608
If they tested then they tested, as I said, I've not done much reading on the Kai, just looking up stuff now. I'd still rather see a slew of other tanks before the Chi-Ha or its siblings, especially with most of them being one off prototypes or never seeing action, given my preference for battle proven, workhorse designs, but we all have our different tankfus so I won't grumble if we end up with one.

>>
>>554776
True but the cruiser tanks besides theCromwell are thing.

and the only decent light tanks are the M8A1 Stuart and the Chaffee
>>
>>554785
Crusader's not terrible, much of its reliability woes were specific to desert terrain and without governors it can turn a decent clip though you need a good mechanic/driver to not bust the engine doing it. The Comet's excellent of course, but a very expensive and advanced acquisition for a team. The Chaffee's good, but yeah, most Light Tanks aren't great for fighting other tanks, obviously, though things like the Locust, Tetrarch, Stuart and Panzer II Luchs offer small, fast recon vehicles with enough firepower to take out other lights or if you stick a LJ adpator on the Tetrarch, even overconfident Mediums and outflanked Heavies.
>>
>>554831
Crusader is kind of meh but I wouldnt mind it. Unless there is room for upgrades.
>>
>>554845
Well I mean there's the Mark III with the 6 pounder and removed MG turret (that nobody could fit into anyway) and if you wanted to go full retard they did use two as testbeds for the Meteor engine (to figure out if you could put an aeroplane engine in a tank without fucking everything up) things damn near broke 85kph. One of them also skidded off the road and into a tree, but 85 kilometres an hour! I like to believe that Rosehip either has or is working on turning her Crusader into one of those, because it's just too perfect a match.

I'm not sure you appreciate just how horrifically tiny the Crusader's MG turret was, it was so small crew couldn't even cock the machine gun unless they were some kind of man-octopus hybrid, let alone operate it with any reasonable expectation of accuracy. It also tended to fill with engine fumes and suffocate the operator. The first thing every crew did with their Crusaders was get rid of it or use it for stowage. Maybe it would be slightly less terrible for a high school girl, but she'd have to be short, flat as a board and skinny. The Locust and Tetrarch actually aren't so bad, the Tetrarch has some issues but punches harder than just about any other tankette while the Locust is (somewhat typically for US tanks of the time) far more practical than all the other teenie-tiny tanks around, and while the 37mm won't be punching the tickets of any Heavy tanks, with some derring do/suicidal bravery it can kill a lot of tanks through the side armour at ~100m ranges.

The main problem with the BT is that it's poorly armed compared to something like the Crusader, larger than a dedicated recon tank like the Pz II Luchs or a Light Tank like the Locust/Tetrarch and while it's quick, it's a bitch to drive and can't keep its speed while manoeuvering. I do like the BT series, especially as interwar tanks, but they're not really up to scratch in Tankery, at least compared to cheaper or more capable options.

Not even close.

Unless you are Finn, then you can outplay several late-war tanks with a BT.

Cheaper

I would have assumed the BT series would be cheap compared to other options.

How eeffective is a 45mm gun?

Alsowouldn't a LJ adaptoer work with the 37mm?
>>
>>554979
Yeah but Finns have clearly intimdated the world into playing by their rules so they're hardly a good example.

>>554982
The Littlejohn adpator is specifically for the 40mm 2 Pounder but the did experiment with a version for the 37mm and it worked well, for about 6 shots. Then it tore itself apart. I'm not sure why it didn't work as well, considering the 2 pounder has a higher muzzle velocity, breach pressure etc. It could have simply been a flawed design, but regardless, it never went anywhere beyond those intial tests I believe.

As for the L/46 45mm that the BT-7 and 5 packed, they'd penetrate about 42mm of armour, sloped at 30 degrees at 100m, or the same at 500m if the plate was flat. With APCR it could go through 88mm at 100m, or 66 at 500, assuming the armour was flat. Not exactly impressive, though there's certainly worse out there, it's in the same ballpark as the M3 37mm, though the APCR gives it an edge at close range.
>>
>>555030
then why did you say it was bad if you compare it to the 37mm M3?
>>
>>555058
Because the 37mm M3 is bad, it's just not as bad when it's on a tank that's barely 6 feet tall (the Locust), but when you stick something like it on the larger, less manoeuvrable (though very fast in straight lines) BT series, it becomes far more apparent how bad it is. That's why I said it was worse armed than the Crusader, not the Locust, Tetrarch or Stuart.

The Stuart is the cheap option by the way. More were built than the BTs, over 20'000 in fact and while they're similarly handicapped, it's more able to maintain its speed while taking evasive manoeuvres and is a substantially more ergonomic tank for its crew, being comfortable and easy to use by all accounts.

I see i wasn't aware of that.

Though one of the things I like about the Stuard is that we can get a long 75m gun for the Stuard while the closest thing we can do for the BT is turn it into the A-20 or T-34.

Wow anon, that's awesome, you planning to change the muzzle break of the 75mm to the 6 Pounder's?

So out of the cast, which one has the best mom?

Thats the one for Tanks from gf9?

>>555264
Not the Pools, that's for sure. I feel terrible about making this joke.

Probably Mumwalt though. She used to do tankery and is a good foil to the old man's shenanigans. We've not really seen much of her or any other mums though all things considered.

Ayup. Have to work out the Applique Armor as well also some camo nets on the back . There's a winch mounted on the rear.

While I'm think about it do we know what model of M4 Gris Gris is rolling?
>>
>>555335
M4A3E8, the later model with the 47 degree upper glacis. As for the applique, it was probably applied in the same way as it was on real Cromwells. Cut holes in the turret applique to fit the rivets through, then weld the plates to the base plate, as for the rest it'd be simple weld jobs, though far more comprehensive than real world applique as our one increases all of our armour by 20mm. with the lower side armour this is likely done with backing plates or within the suspension compartment and as such can be safely ignored, the rest of the tank its simple weld jobs. For modelling it plasticard should be fine, you'll just have to cut holes in the plasticard 'plates' to fit stuff like hatches, viewports and rivets.
>>
An M4A3E8? Excellent. I'll use a thunderbolt VII as a basis. Period Applique already applied.
>>
>>555350
Thunderbolt's a good starting point, you might have to do a bit extra applique though, as well as cutting down that ugly overhang on the upper glacis applique, or you could try heating and bending it if it's resin. If you're looking for what exact mods she has they're in the "Danon's the Team" Pastebin in the OP.
