To the Roggar Council of Lords
-------
Greetings my Lord it has come to my attention that matters of our foreign relations are soon to be brought before our council. I have several suggestions that I would have you look over and take into account when deciding upon your actions in the coming days.

-New Ogre Have-
Should be added to Roggar proper as they have been a peaceful people for quite some time and should be allowed to reap the prospers that joining Roggar gives them.

-Free City of Ravlegith-
Offer them to join Roggar as an independent protectorate entailing military protection for nominal tribute.

-Patrais-
Tell them we shall hold the pact if they are attacked, suggest they try and find peace with this barbarian king, even giving him tribute to turn his attentions elsewhere. They have the dwarfs and elves as close allies they are in a better spot then us.

-Halfling Kingdom-
We know next then nothing about the practices and culture of the Halfling with our old alliance being a fragile thing. Invite the Halfling King and Queen to Roggar for a great feast to rekindle our friendship and learn more about them.

-Northern Empire-
Send the Royal Spymaster north to sow deceit and treachery among their lands. Innar II rules through tyranny so we must support every attempt to overthrow or assassinate him. Every rebel should be financed and those loyal to him should be targeted for assassination. A strong watch should be set for signs of invasion on any allied fronts.

-Ogre Lands-
The colony in the Ogrelands is a private expansion and should be left to them to protect, if we must contact the halflings about aid. The Ogres have not attack southward in some times and should be left be till we deal with bigger problems.

-Southern Steppes Centuars-
The Southern Centaurs have repeatedly raided and should be dealt with enforce. A fortress should be built in the Plains to facilitate as a lynch pin for the conquering of the steppes allowing a place for troops to rest and recuperate in the flat lands. A simple ringed fort with accompanying trenches would be more then enough to stop the low-tech centaurs.

The Dragonfist clan (originally the Mutt Clan) Used to be a band of goblins and humans raised on the the streets that turned into farmers thanks to Mutt Dragonfist. The Mutt an urchin turned soldier managed to kill a dragon with one punch allowing his clan and his dynasty to be respected among the Roggarians. The Dragonfist Family isn't the richest nor the most powerful but they still are respected after all this years due the continuous effort of many members of the Dragonfist family. Muttville, the Fortress island is still an essential river port of Roggar and all the temples that exist around the Feudal lands of the Dragonfists make their land a place that all adherents to the pantheon need to visit.

In ages past men lived simpler lives - they would hunt, farm, fight and always respect the might of the Old Gods. Shamans led the clans with their elemental magic - so it was for many generations, before history was ever written down. The great hero Rog united a dozen human clans into a tribe that would form the foundation of our future Kingdom. One day Rog mysteriously vanished - then came the Great Storm - when it passed, the shamans could no longer feel the presence of the Gods and had lost the source of their magic.
Our civilization would have to progress on its own and so for generations we worked the lands, expanded in numbers and territory. We adopted goblin miners, fought dragons and welcomed a demonic warband. Adventures were had, technology progressed as we explored more and more of the world, largely adopting the faith of the New Gods of the Pantheon.
The Second Horde War was a terrible conflict, mirrored by a civil war within our Kingdom - in its process the mighty Kingdom of Paitras fell and our own Kingdom was greatly damaged, with the city of Nayte and its surroundings being anhilated, ending the lives of all our denizen demons.
After the Second Horde War the Norsemen were united into an Empire and we've been fighting them ever since. We've had both victories and losses, with the Ice Dragons being a mighty asset to the norsemen.
We've expanded eastwards into two former provinces of Paitras, but in the most recent years that Kingdom has been reborn under the ruler of Ezgielath, Verigal.
Most recently, Dragonking Leonson Dragonfist passed away. Conaire Hawthorne was chosen to succeed him. We face troubles from every side - the norsemen raid our coastlines, the southern centaurs raid our farmlands, a Barbarian King has risen to the southeast, while the ogres in the southwest are attacking a recently established private colony.

Assets: The Citadel (smithy, barracks, Warsmiths, workshop), Praetorian Guard, minotaur, Professional soldiers, Citadel Militia

Back-story: Formed in the aftermath of the first Centaur-Roggar war, The War Council started as an informal meeting of officers from all parts of the military to discuss the failings of the military expedition and how to prevent future disasters by ensure the military shall never be found wanting again.

Focused on a general expansion of The War Council people, resources, knowledge, and lands
The Council has expanded slowly due to poor luck and lack of resources progress was slowed with the barbarian invasion and civil war but the War Council survived and continues to do what it can. Fishermen on the Longfork River have whispered of strange things since the destruction of Nayte; now, these whispers are shouts. A swarm of lunatics have settled in the furthest south-east forest in the realm of Roggar.

The first generation were merely magic-sensitive men and women whose minds were fried by the magic unleashed at Nayte; sadly, the madness is all their children will ever know, along with their own myriad of issues, physical and mental.

Following the events within the portal at Nayte Crater, the unusally competent leader known as "Manman" failed to return. Not knowing (or perhaps caring) why, the drug-addled lunatic Barnaby declared himself leader of his fellows.

In the reign of Nick Ashwood, Barnaby somehow became Royal Admiral, and promptly ignited several Yalmfrid trade ships on suspicion of swampweed smuggling. In the year 251 he was imprisoned for decade by reason of arson, and spent one day a week smoking swampweed with a man named Lee, who acted as his temporary replacement. In addition, he appeared to believe he had successfully seduced the halfling Palidi Moxstep, a delusion which she refused to comment on.

After his release, Barnaby exhibited anger issues possibly related to withdrawl due to the long term swampweed reduction, and experimented with various methods to recapture his "buzz". He died in the tragic sinking of Project Weedboat's maiden voyage.

He was swiftly replaced by a shadowy figure with an apparent affinity for alchemy, who was never seen by the rest of the kingdom. He spent his life researching an unknown project; upon his death, the village of Riverhugger celebrated the first ever Timor's Eve.

Not long after, a young man naming himself Thuzad bullied his way into power. Despite his clean and charming exterior, he harbors dark thoughts within.

>>

well I guess I can make a faction, but I haven't put much thought into it yet. I basically just saw people complain about how there's no traffic in /qst/ and thought I'd amend that.

But alright, let me give it a try:

Faction name: Disciples of Juras' eternal court

Backstory: Paitra's words and the words of the prophets after him rang clear in the ears of many. Their indirect miracles were clear signs of their existence, but some found them not enough to prove their benevolence.

So one prophet of Juras said as well, and he went a step further: He claimed not benevolent was his god. But just. And provably just, and fair and unflinchingly set on his divine principle. That prophet of Juras went about and preached, not of the pantheon itself, but of Juras, Lord of justice above them, for truly, Juras alone had godly objectivity.

And so the disciples of Juras' eternal court formed, a religious faction within Paitras that thinks Juras more divine than the other gods, them powerful, but him godly. Their law is that of God, they claim, and it to dispense the Bringers of Righteousness, a mighty few ridden warriors were appointed. And to make law were there is none, some high priests that are blessed by Jura, the Juridicals were sanctioned, to roam Paitras and speak judgement as they saw fit - Even though their religious authority doesn't necessarily always translate into anything substantial. Juras' eternal court, while fanatical and vigilant, is by no means large enough to fulfill it's lofty ambitions and is currently more focused on trying to establish themselves as credible at all.

Assets:
-The temple of Juras
-The Bringers of Righteousness, knightly order
-The prison to the guilty
-Books of codified law
-The Juridicals
-The pastures and peasents of the High Judge

In negotiating with the Paitrans both sides are in agreement that we will respect our defensive alliance and send aid to each other whenever needed.
We've been communicating with the current Halfling King, who resides in Laekam.
Exactly 200 years ago the great heroine Ondala united the halflings into a single nation, which has mostly been at peace since then. They've aided us a bit in one or two conflicts, but have mostly kept to themselves. They have had skirmishes with the ogres to the south, because of which they have since then established a professional army of their own.
To celebrate the 200-year anniversary of their Kingdom's formation, King Odashes I has invited us to the capital, Laekam, for a grand feast. Perhaps we may be able to negotiate further there.

If you wish to send someone from your faction say so, or you can object to this if you want.

Laekam is the largest halfling city, lying on the shore of a lake Hapwaetar, in which there is a beautiful island on which the richest in halfling society have residences.
Ignore the windmills in the pic, it's not a researched tech yet
The halflings are expert farmers and even with the change in climate their lands continue to be bountiful. The Kingdom's population stands at around 800 thousand. The halflings worship the Pantheon and have their own Pontifficate, having declared independence from Dominas after the Second Horde War. The Kingdom exports all sorts of foodstuffs and just about anything you can produce from animals and crops. while their imports are luxury foreign goods. They have a well-established trade link with the lizardfolk who come by sea from the south.

After several days of feasting, celebrations and all-round merrymaking, it seems that the King is now predisposed to engage in formal diplomacy.

The halflings, as followers of the Pantheon, have priests who are apt in their magic. In their dogmas they are fairly orthodox and in fact rather old-school, focused on community organisation and helping out with common tasks. The Temple of Stoman provides invaluable help to the halfling army though and priests from other temples also lend their aid whenever there is conflict with the ogres.
>>550434
Some have shown great interest in your galentine and it is likely that you'll be able to make quite a bit of money from trading it, though you should keep in mind that the amount of Galentine that you can access is finite.

Now, as it realates to the norsemen, the halflings would indeed support our defensive efforts if we do the same for them. Their attention has been directed to the south for a while though.

The King, it seems, has some interesting things to tell us about the ogres.

"Before I begin, let's make some things clear. We both clearly have interest in expanding in that direction. If we are to cooperate in that regard, the condition must be that our Kingdoms split all territorial gains fairly. I have useful information for you and we can both benefit.
If an alliance is to exist between our Kingdoms, let it be known now that we are open to one if it is fair for both of us."

In those days the lands between here and there were populated by halflings primarily, with some humans to the east. Around the time of the Great Storm these lands were conquered by the ogres, who were also expanding to the northeast - no doubt in your own old folk tales you have mention of the ogres.
Since then a lot has happened, you know of a few tribes that moved towards the eastern swamp, the ones who founded the New Ogre Haven. These were the ones who were banished in the age of warring tribes in the first and second centuries After the Storm. Around the time of the Second Horde War, a hundred-odd years ago, the Irlash tribe started gaining power and subduing the others. They've founded an Ogre Kingdom and they seem to have made great advances in technology, thanks to two factors - they've enslaved humans, goblins, gnomes and hallfings and they've been trading with the lizardfolk, who've even established a trading outpost there.
As if that wasn't enough, the Ogre King has been in contact with other barbarians - the centaurs of the southern steppes, the Barbarian King in the east and the orcs - though their true origin is unknown to us."

"So, is there anything else you'd like to know or propose that we do?"

Volkmar come to the Halfling King grumbling after he was laughed by them a moment ago, but even tough Volkmar hates being humilated he hates ogres and Norsemen more. He has some information about the Norsemen and their Dragons. They lay eggs and they hatch like brids. Dragons can live practically forever unless killed and get this they are immune to just about any poison or disease that is naturally encountered. The dragons, take care of their eggs and their hatchlings. But the reason they find our ships out in seas is because they have great sense and the same element well they sense each other better. Something of worry is no one seen a Dragon of Light in the last three centuries maybe they were the old gods, before the storm?More reseacrh must be known. Anyone that talks bad about or opposes the Ice Dragons are killed, I was in a tight spots but I got out. They are the "True Rulers" in the north, I learned that dragons demand sacrifice and the norsemen provide it - fish, cattle, humans, whatever they have. This is all the information i have about the inner working of the norsemen.

Dear King Hawthorne and the Grandmaster of the Ranger Order,

Find attatched a transcription of some heretical notes that were recovered on our journey to the Halfling Kingdom from a renegade faction of their race. I have isolated some particular sections regarding -----s and -----s that may be of particular interest to you; I fear that if such people can discover this, mayhaps our enemies might. Ask the messenger to reveal the topics to you, as this information is highly sensitive.

We find a ruined harbor and a burning town. The ogres have begun their assault, having broken through the wooden wall!

2500 armed defenders are left, while our reinforcements number 3500 halflings and 2 Legions from our Kingdom, giving us a total force of 10 000. The enemy's numbers are unknown to us.

It is battle!

With our furious attack, we've driven off the ogres completely.
We killed 1500, captured 500. Very few troops from the reinforcing armies were lost, but in the earlier part of the defense of the colony almost half of its 9000 denizens were lost.

The ogres will likely be back though and the colony is very damaged.

We've deployed one more Legions and ask for more reinforcements from the halflings. It's been a few months since the siege and we've seen some skirmishes in the area, but nothing major. As the year reaches its end, we recieve news from the North.
A longship is sent, crewed by several Roggarians that had been enslaved by the norsemen. It bears a letter signed by the Norse Emperor as well as a crate.
"To the Southerners of Roggar,
in this crate I return to you the heads of your infiltrators - the assassin you sent after me and that goblin and his companions. You'll also find the Jarl of Aaberaag's head in there. Prepare for the storm, maggots, the storm that will end the miserable thing that you call a Kingdom.
PS: This "honey" tastes like goat's shit. What sort of imbecile keeps sending it to Aaberaag?"
The crate contains several severed heads, covered in honey.

After some hard spywork I have found this information about the barbarian king, These are my findings.

The Barbarian King rose to power around 301 and is male, said to have contact with dragons. His race is still undetermined, but it is said his name is "Basigol". His power grows as he adds more tribes under his banner every year. He has been in contact with the centaurs of the southern steppes, the Ogre King of Irlash and even the centaurs that serve the Trusted Adviser. Rumors are that he has had dealings with the demons in the southeast. His seat is a conquered city on the shore of a great lake south of Paitras.

Dear Norse Emperor
"You kill follow Roggars I'm fine with that. You kill smelly green manlets I'm fine with that. You threaten to destroy our kingdom I'm fine with that. But you talk shit about my honey, then that's taking it too low. Let me give you a run down if you try to destroy the kingdom, you will lose, with that you're lose subjects, subjects that make up your army, that farm the lands, that make and run the brewery. In the end everyone will lose."

So in the end you don't win, your lose out on my mead and other great things Roggar was to offer if you just make peace. What stopping you from making peace the dragons? How about you think about all the wives and sons people will lose if this goes through. If there is no peace, then we don't just lay down and died, we will live on. THE ROGGAR KINGDOM WILL SURVIVE!

PS: Mead is made of Honey the thing you hate so much. This show that with everything you can always improve on. How about you call off the attack and just make peace so you can have large access to all the mead you can drink?

So I want to sort out the centaurs who are being infiltrated by the barbarian king. But I just want to talk to them and listen to their grievances and see how we may come to a compramise. If they complain about space remind them how they have an entire buffer area between kingdoms to freely roam that I secured for them. Also remind them of the chaos of the Horde and the terror and destruction that they all bring while reminding them of how well some of their kind have done for themselves in Roggar (the current leader of the temple guard is a centaur). Also in general speak of the kindness I have treated them with and how they are true citizens of the Kingdom of Roggar and I could never ask for better more noble people in my realm.

It seems the plan was to have our centaurs attack the Free City of Ravlegith - with proper intelligence and warnings, we were able to warn the Free City. Only about a thousand of the centaurs ended up participating in this attack and they were easily dealt with - we've avoided making this a more serious situation for now, at least.

Another situation arises now though - news from Paitras...

It seems the Norse Emperor has set out with a massive fleet by sea and a massive army by land to attack the Kingdom of Paitras. The Barbarian King is also making his move, attacking the southern provinces of Paitras.
In the meanwhile, we've gotten reports that the centaurs to our south are also on the move, while the Ogre Kingdom is massing its troops.

The good thing is we can rely on the full support of the halflings on the Ogre front, while the dwarves and high elves will support Paitras in the east.

Now, it looks like there's four fronts coming up.

We have 12 Legions at our disposal and we've raised 12 Banners of militias - each of these units is comprised of 2000 soldiers.

How many should we send to each of the four fronts and how many shall we leave to defend our homeland?
>>

Long has the temple guard of the Trusted Advisers stood.
However their ability has been limited over the years and now they are little more than for show.
No longer.
With the arrival of Minotaurs the Temple Guard shall be reformed into an elite guard. Stationed in their home fort in the colony and with a chapter house in Dragonstomb and Trusted Defense.
The Trusted Guards shall serve the people of Roggar and defend them from the foreign invaders, a father will pass the ways of the Trusted Guards down to his son and so on till the end of time or Roggar.
And Roggar shall have no end.

The norse are known to attack by sea, hence I believe sending 10 legions and 10 banners to the south is far to many. It will leave our holdings by the coast at risk!.

I propose:
>Paitras
Let them and their allies fend for themselves, perhaps send some military advisors to observe and bring advise back and forth, perhaps the northeners have some weaknesses that they come to learn?
>Norse Fleet
First have all Factions raise their arms to defend their own holdings. In addition spread 4 Legions and 4 Banners along the coast. Focus on not letting them enter our rivers.
>Centaurs
4 Legions and 4 Banners
>Ogres
Send 2 Legions and 2 Banners to fight on this front, use this opportunity to strengthen our alliance further.

The King's Seventh Legion was attacked by a large force of ogres, numbering around 15 000 - reinforcements soon came in and the enemy was driven off, but in the process the 7th Legion lost half its forces, the 3rd lost 1/3rd and the 10th lost a fifth.
Overall though we've advanced, taking Ermagn and most of the territories east of the ogre capital. The halflings have likewise been advancing from the west.

Our current force stands at 38 000, the halflings have 19 000.

Our army stands outside Irlashg.
The gates open and a lone ogre walks out, after which they are closed.
He stands at a bit over 7 feet tall, about average for his kind. He looks strong and comes across as very confident.

"Invaders! You stand at the gates of Irlashg. I know you will not withdraw without a fight. I am Burag, Champion of the Arena and I challenge your best fighter to a duel! You will see that your puny strength is not enough to conquer us!"

The Minotaur Sinep will fight the Ogre Burag.

Sinep is just a couple of inches shorter than Burag, but he's always been on the small side(for a minotaur), for which he's made up with agility and smarts. Now that he's old, it's mostly going to be his experience that would give him an edge.

Burag has almost no armor on and wields a large sword. As the duel begins, he makes the first move, closing the distance and going for a strike!
>>

Dodging this attack, Sinep maneuvers around and lops off the ogre's other hand. With a clean strike he then ends Burag's life - the axe didn't manage to cut off the head in one swing, but he's dead alright.

Our men give a rousing cheer, while the ogres on the walls are no doubt worried.

We take a few days to prepare, supplies-wise.
At last, the dawn of the attack has come.
"Bring out the catapults! Ballistas! Battering rams, siege towers, ladders! We're throwing everything at them!"

With another rousing cheer our men get to work, bringing to bear the full might of the Roggarian war machine. As catapults load stones, a ram is being pushed towards the gate, while teams of laddermen march forward as a siege tower is also being pushed.

The assault begins! We don't actually know how many ogres are in there, but we know that we'll win! For Roggar, men!

His mouth was filled with blood and he gurgled his last words, unheard by the rest.

The Ogre King is dead and the capital of his Kingdom has fallen. We expect the remaining territories will offer no more significant resistance. Of the 38 000 troops we commited to the attack, 4000 were lost. In total over 20 000 ogres were slain during the battle and now we have another 18 000 who are at our mercy -a large part of them are women and children.

In the process of all of this 5000 resident slaves were freed, with the halflings going to the Halfling Kingdom and the humans coming to us. They identify themselves as Galvanni, a tribe that was related to the Malkosi in the past and lived around these parts before the ogres came.
1000 ogre children that are too young to comprehend what's happening have been taken away - they will be the only survivors, it was said, though it appears that a couple hundred others were able to escape the city.

In the Summer of 317 the city of Irlashg was condemned to death. Its people were brutally slaughtered, their homes were burned down, the fruits of their labor was pillaged. The fires raged for days and the smoke and ash would not clear for weeks.

But there will be Ogres still, the ones that escaped and maybe the ones that are under the Goblin care. Will they grow to hate human and do the same as there died partants. That is possible and a risk that Adolf didn't want to take, but the King forced he's will and it was done.

Only time can tell what will happen. For now Adolf has some mead to drink with Volkmar
"I hate Mead but I hate OGRES more." Volkmar said downing the drink.

Wolfram of Creyll Duke?
King's Guard Commander Aegis Duke or Son of Duke?
Arnaldo "el Suculento" Vasentius Count?

Aegis just wanted some Mead after the battle. May the gods take him and may his soul be at peace. Wolfram and Arnaldo I did not know well, but may they find peace as well, and my condolences goes out to the family may this war be a short one.
Today we lost three leaders in the Crusade how many more will number raise?

While debates rage on what to do with the ogres, we've recieved word from the halflings - their army was reinforced with another 5000 troops, after which they were able to take Ogorport.
On the war map I've marked all conquered territories. The halflings killed those who resisted violently, but they dont have the heart to slaughter the ogre civilians, though they do plan to banish those who won't leave willingly. We, on the other hand, have slaughtered tens of thousands of ogres so far.

At our base camp outside of Irlashg, we're now recieving news from the other fronts.

Reports state the following:
One Legion and One Banner are dealing with the centaur raids and so far we've fended off any major attacks.
The Norse Navy attempted to attack Dragonstomb, but were discouraged by the presence of our own fleet and coastal fortifications. They've conducted raids along the less-defended parts of our northern shoreline though, in responce to which we've raised two more Banners of Militia to defend the coasts, while the remaining Legion guards the Capital.
The Barbarian King has marched on the Paitran County of Sekalath, he defeated one Paitran Legion in the field and is now besieging the city. Dwarven reinforcements and several Legions are en route to lift the siege.
In the North, the Paitran fleet has suffered casualties after several Ice Dragons attacked the chief harbor of Archeport - the city is now under siege by a large army from the land and a fleet from the sea. It is said that the King of Paitras, Verigal the Great himself, is leading the Legions in responce, aided by high elves.

On the Ogre Kingdom front, not all of the enemy territory is conquered, the lands in the south, centered around the other fortified city, Mivashg, are still held by ogres, who are gathering all of their forces there and conscripting every able-bodied man and woman to prepare to fight.

What should our next step be?
We have 36 000 troops camped outside of the ruins of Irlashg. The halflings have 23 000 at Ogorport, enemy numbers are estimated to be under 20 000, but will likely increase with each day.

A.March the army south, through the mountains, to take the enemy out as quickly as possible
B.Wait for halfling reinforcements and call for more men from Roggar if need be before we move south
C.Go across the mountains from the east, getting any reinforcements from our nearby holdings we can get on the way
D.Go across the mountains from the west and group up with the halflings for an attack on the enemy

We'll join the halflings and then move down the coastline, up the river and attack the enemy positions.

We're leaving behind 2 Banners-worth of troops to watch over the wounded and guard the mountain pass from this side.

With the remaining 32 000 troops we are on the march now.

Clarification - as a Legion takes casualties, troops from its partnering Banner take the place of those lost for the duration of the campaign. As such, the army that now marches west is made up of 10 Legions and 6 Banners.

We've stopped by the lizan colony. Apparently in their language it has a name that would phonetically be spelled into Paitran as "Hjixsinsez".
This colony was established about 35 years ago and has been a hub for trading with the young Ogre Kingdom (though you wonder what these ogres would really have to offer, other than slaves).
The lizardfolk allow our officers to stay within the walls, provided they pay for whatever serivces they'll be using. The army will camp outside, as there's not enough room for them.

This region is damp and warm, to the lizardfolk's liking, though they say their homeland to the south is even nicer.

These lizardmen seem to be a fairly advanced people in terms of technology, their structures are sturdy, yet beautiful. They identify themselves as colonists from Gajaxlan, whatever that is. The nicest building is without doubt the Governor's Keep(pictured).

We'll rest for a day here - would you like to ask about anything in particular?

Ask if they'd be willing to exchange students with our Kingdom, theses structures are quick apt for temples and we'd be willing to exchange some of knowledge with theirs.
I am sure they'd love to know more about the way we farm or the ways we smith and build boats.
This cooperation would bring great benefits to both of our Realms.

>>556516
>>556523
After some payment and negotiations we've learned of the primary purpose of this colony - trade with the ogres for goods is barely worth it, but what has been of interest to these lizardmen have been live slaves of various races that are shipped to their homelands - humans, goblins, halflings, gnomes, centaurs.
For some reason you think that might not be everything, but they won't reveal any more than that.
>>556546
Some lizardfolk magicians are said to be able to perform necromancy. None such here, of course, none at all, good sir.
>>556552
The lizan ships carry them far and wide, across seas and oceans. The home metropolis of these here lizardmen is the rich City-State of Gajaxlan, located on a volcanic island southwest of our continent. Apparently the southwestern part of our continent(which they say is among the largest landmasses in the world, if not THE largest) is also dominated by the lizardmen.

We've reached the small river that the locals call "Tepsipil", which joins the larger Miva river and stems from the mountains to the north.

The ogres have gathered all their available forces in and around the city of Mivashg, scouts estimate their strength is around 36 000 now, of which thousands are women.
We've got an army of 59 000 in total, but the ogres have burned all the bridges and fortified themselves along the shallower parts of the river that can be forded.

D&B it is.

Now, we must decide on how to split the territory of the conquered Ogre Kingdom with our halfling allies

There are two proposals: A & B(see map)
vote on which one you preffer - to trade our colony for nicer-looking borders or to keep it? Most of it was destroyed by the ogres and the settlers would just move south, so it wouldn't be too big of a loss.

"You find out that the current ogre strategy is to amass all available fighters to defend Mivashg
And that they are sending letters to the centaurs and the Barbarian King to try and get help
They are also communicating with someone in the south."

Our choice is made, it seems that for most of the year our forces will be busy with ordering things in the newly conquered lands, some will return home to guard against the centaurs and norsemen, but we won't be able to commit ourselves to any new offensive campaigns this year.

Let's see how well our enemies are doing(rolling for them)

1.Norse attacks on us
2.Centaur attacks on us
3.Norse attacks on the Paitrans
4.Barbarian King
>>
>>557743
We should mobilize against the centaur first.
The Norse likely only sent probing forces which is why their not having much effect on us.
While were fighting the centaur If we have any forces to spare they should be sent to help relieve Paitras maybe start getting some kind of idea what the barbarian king is like the.

Our returning Legions were able to defend our borders from centaur attacks, dealing a heavy blow to the enemy forces at Poruan.

The Norse Emperor sent a fleet our way, seeing that Dragonstomb was defended by only one Legion. With his Ice Dragons busy fighting in the east, he sent only ships and men, commanded by the new Jarl of Aaberaag, with one Håkon Gunnarson as his second-in-command - the grandson of Royal Admiral Gunnar, a Duke of Roggar. Hakon warned us of exactly where and when the fleet would attack and in the decisive battle his ships turned against the Jarl's, allowing us to claim a great victory.

Hakon Gunnarson has arrived and sworn allegiance to Roggar, bringing with him 30 longships and 2000 norse warriors.
It seems that in the east King Verigal has lifted the siege of Archeport, personally slaying an Ice Dragon with his enchanted sword, if the tales are true. The Barbarian King sacked the city of Sekalath though and now his forces are ravaging the countryside of western Paitras.

We've used experienced militia troops to fill in the losses in the ranks of our Legions.
In the process of the Ishlar campaign we liberated 5000 goblin and 10 000 human slaves, while the Halfling Kingdom was joined by 9000 halflings. The humans we liberated call themselves the Galvanni, the people who once lived in the lands around Ermagn.
The newly taken lands are now settled by the freed slaves and we expect settlers from our Kingdom will soon start arriving. The land is shared at present(I'd like to reserve it for a new player maybe).

We present ourselves openly to these locals, we have minotaurs in our expedition group who help translate. Seeing that, we are welcomed into their humble village, which is populated by no more than a hundred families, mostly spread out across the area.
Among the minotaurs females are naturally rare - here they are 1 in 4 minotaurs, which is actually a fairly high rate for their race.
The Elder is an old bull who welcomes us through the translator, he is called Durgotch, which is also the name of this village - that's not his birth name, apparently, as elders assume the village name along with the position.
"Greetings travellers. We do not have much to offer you in goods, but for today we will treat you to some of our food. You may rest, tell us why you are here and where you've come from."

"Ah, you are from the Nelep village? My son took our herds to the market there last summer, they seem to be doing well. Have you mercenaries been sending them your payment, because I thought those villages that provided young bulls to the men down the river would never see prosperity again! "
>>558442
"Most intriguing! You say your clan worshipped Earth in the days before the Storm? Those of us who still visit the old altar do the same, as we've done for many generations."
>>558439
"Young man, this "honey" you peddle seems interesting, but don't you think you are too aggressive with it? You see, back in my day, I was also tasked with bringing our herds to the market-" the Elder ends his tale of his youth after about 10 minutes
>>558410
"Our people live mostly in villages like this, some smaller, some larger. We live all across the hills and mountains, the river valley and the nearby plains. You will not find many great riches of the kinds you seek in these lands - everything we need to survive is here though.
There are few settlements that we minotaurs build that you would call "towns" - the largest is perhaps Chepazar, around the large market a proper town developed over the generations.
Not all minotaurs live as we do. You could say there are three kinds of tribes.
The Wanderers of the Plains lived as nomads for many generations and often warred against the centaurs who would come from the steppes, fighting over the fertile river valleys and flatlands. We are of the Foothills tribes, who tend to crops and herds in many scattered villages like ours. The Mountainheads are those who dwell in the highest regions - they are the most brutal warriors you will find in these lands, their lesser numbers are made up by their size and strength."

"As for the one you call "Barbarian King" - these lands are also part of his growing expanse. We pay him a certain amount of sheep and rye every year. Some young bulls of our tribe fight in the ranks of his great army. With each battle his lands grow, as does his army, for every conquered tribe pledges its warriors to his banners."
The Elder sighs, finishes his bread and drinks from a waterskin.
"I have never seen him myself. He conquered these lands about 15 summers ago and the previous Elder of our village was killed for resiting him. They say a great Oracle predicted that The Mighty - that is what he is called within his realm - is destined to conquer the world. His realm spans from the edge of the dwarven mountains in the east to past the Great Lake in the south - where he has made his capital - to the borders of Paitras in the north and across the open Centaur steppes in the west. He leads attacks into Paitras at present, though I do not know if he intends to conquer or merely plunder."

They are not interested.

To the Foothills culture, a tribe only exists in the presence of minotaur females.
Minotaurs are strong breeders and a bull can sire a minotaur offspring with just about any intelligent race's females(provided they can carry the child), but the presence of female minotaurs is what builds a stable family structure - the strongest bulls get a female, while the others either serve or go out to find a non-minotaur mate. Minotaur females also tend to be much more receptive to magical training, compared to males.

>>558717
2 young bulls agree to work for you
>>558706
With the help of a wingman, Sinep finally scores with a female centaur after all these years. He considers retiring to the countryside as his paternal instincts come in at last. Minotaurs who sire children from non-minotaur females usually don't care too much about the offspring, whereas with a female minotaur their instincts guide them to become fathers.

"We'll take these gifts. Welcome to the town of Suchki, finest producers of saddles for The Mighty's army, even if we're not the biggest. Come in, there's room in the tavern."
We are treated to some rye bread and porridge.
These lands are good for raising horses and this town's craftsmen have specialised in making saddles for generations. They pay taxes and provide some troops for the Barbarian King's army.
"Well, you know, the good thing about it all is that banditry's all but been wiped out in these parts...save for the taxmen and the soldiers, of course...at least travelling is safe for us."
These people are called the Dovoni, they are the dominant human culture in the region between Paitras and the Great Lake, they say.
They've had contact with Paitras over the past century and some in the town know the Paitran language, there's even a priest of the Pantheon who can read and write. The Faith had been spreading to the south from Paitras for some decades, though it's gotten somewhat harder now since the Barbarian King's rise - not that he's so staunchly anti-Pantheon, but Paitran priests are often suspected of being hostile agents.
The Dovoni live in villages and towns across the mostly flat lands between the dwarven mountains in the east and the centaur and minotaur lands to the west.
"So, is there anything in particular you'd like to know about? And if you're going to ask about the Mighty, spare your effort - none of us have seen him. What we do know is that he's leading his army right now, so if you follow the road to the north you'll probably approach the frontlines. Go south and you'll be on the way to the capital, Ezirin."

"Ask them why they don't want to try my Mead and Honey?"

Think deeply are the gods mad at the Godric family for they repeated use of Mead and Honey? Ask for answers while traveling the road. May someone answers my prayers.

You pass by a blind old beggar. Passing him a copper coin, you ask him about the Mighty
"He's the biggest orc you've ever seen, oh yes, he brought a mighty warband with him to these lands and started conquering tribe after tribe!"

In the marketplace one of you asks a vendor what they know about the Mighty
"Well, he's a local from this city, of course! I remember when he was a youngster, he bought lettuce from this very stand!"
At the tavern, we exchange words with some drunk travellers
"I tell you, he must be one of them minotaurs. I saw one fight in the arena last year, nothing could stop him!"
"He's clearly a demon! Demons are shapeshifting evil bastards, Fits him, I'd say!"

A dwarven smith that supplies the local guards with weapons says "He's a dragon, he is. Dragons can also change their forms, don't ya know?"

The stablemaster says "The Mighty is a proud gnome, standing three feet tall - probably the tallest of his race, hahaha."

Well, this isn't getting us anywhere.

He's a king right? Head to the palace and see if in our various noble roles we can get a meeting with one of his representatives.

After some time waiting we're given an audience with the highest-ranking official in the city, one of the Mighty's top vassals, a man by the name of Zestar.
You ask him about the Mighty's identity. He blinks a few times and then answers
"He is a man like you or me, though his destiny is unlike that of any other."

"So, do you have any important business here with me? If not, you may leave."
>>
>>559434
Could you clarify what you mean by destiny? Also, would your kingdom be interested in securing trade and marriages?

"Hello there I'm Son of Duke Adolf of Godric. I'm Wolf Godric, and we would like having good relations with the Mighty. And some marriages as well. This way our two kingdoms can live in peace and grow from our friendship. Trading will help both our kingdoms"

>>559434
May ask I ask why is it his subjects seem to have conflicting opinion on who and what this man is? What could be the reason for this?

As Adolf was talking, he was just about to get to his favourite subject - honey and mead! His growing smile was cut short when he grabbed his stomach and fell down, groaning in pain and spilling the contents of his breakfast on the floor
"Someone....please...get me some h-h-h...."

Zestar had already ordered that the guards escort the diplomat and his companions out.
Back at the tavern, Adolf recovers after a few hours.

You're back the next day, Adolf is resting in the tavern. You apologise for his earlier display and are charged with the cost of the rug that was dirtied. Still, Zestar is willing to hear you out.
You ask about this destiny he speaks of.
"The Great Oracle Zatep spoke of a young man who would use war to end war and unite the world under his rule. That man is The Mighty. You ask about his identity? It does not matter who we are, what matters is our plan. Nobody cared who he was until he raised his banner and began fighting for what was right - to unite the tribes of the Hearthlands and to make them great."

"Enough about that. Will you propose any actual deals? If your merchants are willing to travel all the way here they can trade the same as any foreign merchant can."

"Roggar has many riches. Riches it's willing to trade with. We'd be pleased to trade with this kingdom, and in exchange we would be happy with your men just... Well... Not raiding our southern hamlets.
Roggar is a powerful kingdom, so don't mistake this as an act of weakness, but both of us know how horrible war is, how draining it is and how the only winners in every conflict are the vultures. Both of our realms would benefit more by trade than by spilling a fellow human's blood, don't you think?"

"How about some marriages and trade with our kingdoms? Also real sorry about the thing that happened yesterday. It must have been the Rye bread. But I'm better now, us Godrics always pay our debts."

Sure, something like that can be done but you will have to be greenlight by bulgar(QM). Though the there wont be any thread ttoday since bulgar has some normies shit to do. The quest will probably be runed tommorow.

Well I went from not existing to quite possibly being the most powerful militarily in 1 thread. Then 2 threads later I got wiped out pretty much (I am not complaining though)...
Only caring about having the "best" faction is just stupid, many players in this thread however play like that still. :p Playing a faction is about enriching your playing experience, it is about having fun, planing, failing and succeeding.

I would heavily recommend making a faction, it gives you more say in how the story(civ) moves forwards and it is very rewarding.

Power gaming = stronk faction

Having fun = more rewarding but shit power
>>
>>561982
We should probably find a balance then
