Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkword creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

You... are not one of them. You are a transfer student. There was a bit of a mix-up.

>Previously on Dark Gate Academy...
You arrive at Dark Gate Academy, and with a history of delinquency you have issues making friends. On your first day, you receive more than a few lectures from the school counsellor, get beaten up by a girl for rummaging around in abandoned lockers... oh, and you get transported to a hellish dimension where you see a member of your class get crushed to death by a 30ft tall monster. Probably should have mentioned that first.

To make matters worse, you soon learn that while the rest of the school possess powers that allow them to fight back against the Darkworld creatures, you're completely ineffective. Which means your survival hinges upon you somehow getting the rest of the class to like you enough that they would risk their lives for yours. No easy task.

As morning comes, you stare at yourself hard in the dormroom mirror. You inspect the heavy bags under your eyes, noting how little sleep you got. How could you sleep soundly after all the insane crap that happened last night?

You keep repeating your situation to yourself out loud over and over, but no matter how many times you say it, it doesn't sound real. Almost every night of the week, you'll be tossed into this Darkworld... a terrifying place where your survival rests entirely on the members of Class 2 saving your hide. One of your classmates has already bit the dust trying to protect you... and he was top in class! The rest aren't going to sacrifice themselves just because your lack of powers is an interesting research topic for the school nurse. Not unless you give them reason to like you. A lot easier said than done...

You've never been a very likeable guy. You never had a problem moving away from schools because you were never leaving any friends behind. Even here, you already have a girl in the class who hates your guts... and unfortunately, can kick your ass with ease. Maybe the rest of the class are more easy-going than Saki Kobashi... but you don't want to get your hopes up.

You wipe your eyes and break away from your reflection, taking a deep breath. "Okay..." you mumble to yourself. "Just got to stay positive. Stay friendly. Big smiles, right? Oh god, how do you smile again?"

On second thought, maybe it's better to cut out the smiles. There will be a memorial service for Daisuke in the morning, and it's probably not a good idea to walk in there with a huge grin on your face. Especially considering that most of the class are holding you responsible for his death.

The blankets stir in the dorm's top bunk. You bunkmate rises from his slumber. Ken Tajiri, you believe his name is. Haven't spoken to the kid yet, as he went to bed right after the Darkworld was banished last night.

"Hey," he says, giving you a small wave. "You're the new kid, right?"

"Yeah, I'm your new bunkmate-"

"The one who can't fight Darkworlders and got beat up by Saki, right?"

Good to know you've already built a reputation for yourself. What a drag.

"That's me," you sigh.

"Then that means you saw what happened to Daisuke..." he mutters. "What was it like?"

>Horrible. I'm trying hard not to think about it.
>Eh, I come from a big city. Not the first time I've seen someone kick the bucket.
>Why do you need me to tell you? I'm sure you've seen other classmates get killed before.

>Horrible. I'm trying hard not to think about it.

Ken nods. "I understand. Couldn't have been easy to see. I'm just glad Saki was able to kill the Seeker. Get some justice for Daisuke."

Ken hops from the top bunk, landing neatly on his feet. "Anyway, we should probably get going to class. Don't want to be late."

>At class

"Daisuke Hayate was a strong, smart, brave young man. He cared deeply about others, and would do anything to protect them. He was a true hero, and he will be deeply missed..."

Akihito calls for a moment of silence at the beginning of the class. The students stand behind their desks and hang their heads low.

"Now, our new head of class, Saki Kobashi has a few announcements to make regarding the school rules."

Saki makes her way to the front of the class with a stack of papers. She gives a small cough, clearing her throat, as she reads from them.

"It has come to my attention that some students..." her eyes glance towards you. "Have been smoking on the school premises. I feel I don't have to remind you all that smoking at this age is not just against the school rules, but against the law. If I catch any of you with even a single cigarette in your possession, I will have no choice but to report you directly to the principal. This kind of offence is grounds for expulsion from the school."

It's no wonder who she's directing all of this towards, and she glares at you throughout her speech.

>I'll choose to stay quiet for now.

No need to get even further on her bad side. You sit back in your chair as she rattles off a bunch of school rules to the class, as if you're all a bunch of children too dumb to understand what's right and what's wrong.

Rini groans. "Ugh, does she ever shut up? What a tight-ass..."

"Eh, her ass is about the third best in class," Kosuke remarks, placing his hands behind his head.

"Pervert. That's not what I meant, and you know it... and I better be top of that list!"

You doze through the class like it's second nature to you, and you are awoken by the bell ringing. Student's start rising from their chairs and gathering their bags... and none of them look very happy about it.

"What do we have next?" you ask, as you stand up.

Kosuke shakes his head. "I hate to break it to you... Physical education."

You raise an eyebrow. "That doesn't sound too bad. That's one of the few classes I've been able to pass."

"Not in this school," Kosuke replied. Your eyes widen as you remember how much the rest of the school trumps you in physical activity. "I feel bad for you. I don't think Kinji is going to care that you can't do the same things we can. He's going to push you just the same... and he pushes us pretty hard."

You scan the room. You take note of how unhappy the students are. They look more traumatised now than they did during Daisuke's memorial. The girl in front of you is shaking, muttering "Please don't make me go back there" over and over. A grim sight indeed.

"You ready for the real hell?" Kosuke asks with a smirk.

>Bring it on. I'm not scared of some gym teacher.
>Maybe I should talk to Saki first. As top of the class, she could make my life a living hell. I should try to get on her good side.
>I'm not putting up with that. Come on, let's ditch class.

First things first, you need to ask Akihito why you're expected to stay in such a risky area when you have absolutely no use in combat.

"Sir, can I ask you a question?" you ask, approaching the teacher.

"Go ahead Ryoji," Akihito replies, removing his glasses.

"Okay... why am I still here?" you ask, crossing your arms.

Akihito sighs. "I understand you must be frustrated right now..."

"Frustrated? If I stay here any longer, I'm going to get killed!"

Akihito shakes his head. "Don't panic, Ryoji. I know your situation seems hopeless, but we can't just send you away. Tekina has requested that you remain in this school so that she can closely examine both you and your interactions with the Darkworld itself. She believes that you are the key to some very important discoveries."

"I don't care about that, I want to live!" you protest. "Keeping me here is insane!"

"Ryoji, if we don't learn more about the Darkworld, we'll never be able to banish it for good. You may just be the one to save the world." Akihito smiles as he crosses his arms. "Personally, I believe that you do have some kind of power deep within you... but for whatever reason, it didn't emerge like everyone else's. Perhaps there's something holding you back. Maybe if you had a better attitude..."

Another lecture? Is he serious? "You think if I was a little nicer, I'd get superpowers?" you ask incredulously.

"Well, I wouldn't rule out the option. Now, you have gym class to get to. Kinji isn't very forgiving of late arrivals."

You storm out of class to find Kosuke waiting outside the door for you. "Good luck trying to convince Akihito of anything. He'd snap in half before he bends to anyone's request," he jokes.

>Whatever, let's just get this Gym Class over with.

>If I'm being kept here against my will, then I don't see why I should have to go to class.

"Well said," Kosuke replies. "I know a place by the courtyard where nobody goes. We can hang out there without being caught for the rest of day."

You and Kosuke begin walking down the hallway when you hear Saki's voice cry out.

"Where do you two think you're going? Gym class is this way!"

You turn your head, unamused. "Yeah, we know."

"So you two think you can just skip class?" she asks, folding her arms in anger. "That's breaking the school rules!"

"It is?" you ask, in a mocking shocked tone. "Oh, I wasn't aware. If I knew that, I would be ditching class sooner!"

Saki places her hands on her hips and yells. "Enough with the attitude, Ryoji! The rules are there for reason. They help us get through the day in a safe and productive manner! They give us order and meaning... you can't just abandon them!"

Man, how much more goody-two-shoes can you get?

You begin to sprint down the hallway mid-sentence, catching Saki off-guard. You run as fast as your legs can carry you, with Kosuke having no trouble keeping up with your pace. Damn these awakened kids and their heightened abilities... you have no doubt Saki could have caught you if she gave chase, but you're save by a well timed bell-going off. As much as she wants to hunt you down, Saki doesn't want to be late for class herself.

You and Kosuke make it out onto the school courtyard, far from any teachers or students to bother you. Kosuke sits himself down and smirks. "So, what now?"

"Now? I need to get the hell out of this school." You nervously scratch the back of your head. "This place is insane, and I need to get far away from here."

"How are you going to do that?" Kosuke asks. "This town's so detached and out of the way. We don't even have a dedicated bus or train service."

"I can hitchhike!" you reply. "Anything's better than spending another moment in this waking nightmare!"

"Maybe you should just chill out," Kosuke replies.

"Chill out? If I stay here, I'll get killed by one of those creatures!"

"Maybe you will, maybe you won't," Kosuke shrugs. "No guarantees in life, man. Besides, word's spreading that you're a big deal. That you're actually something special. That's pretty cool."

Kosuke stands up and dust himself off. You're amazed how anyone here can be so freaking calm. "You know what you need to do? You need to have some fun. We can chill out here until lunchtime, and then maybe you can show me what kind of tricks you've got. You're supposed to be some big prankster, right? I bet you've already got a target picked out."

>I'm not exactly in the mood to be pulling pranks right now.

"That's disappointing," Kosuke replies, "I hope you're just saving up for a big prank later down the road."

"It's kinda hard to have fun when I'm worrying about my own mortality, Kosuke." You pull out a cigarette and light it up, puffing away. It's not doing much to relieve your stress, but it's better than nothing.

"I don't know why you're panicking, you're probably the safest out of all of us."

"I doubt it," you mutter.

"No, really. Ever since that incident last night, all of the staff are bigging you up as some big research project, the answer to all of the Darkworld's mysteries, the best thing since sliced bread. We're being encouraged to keep you safe as much as possible. As long as you don't seriously piss people off, they're going to help you out."

You take another puff of your cigarette and shake your head. "That's the hard part. Everyone here already hates my guts, and I'm not one to conform and pretend I'm someone I'm not... even if my life depends on it."

"Well, I have your back," Kosuke explains, "But that won't do you much good. I'm back of the class for a reason. I'm the least capable guy in class... until you cam along?"

"Least capable? Or are you just to lazy to actually try?" you ask.

Kosuke shrugs. "Don't know, I never checked. Could be a bit of both. You've also got Rini, and Saki."

"Saki hates my guts."

Kosuke nods. "Yeah, but she's head of the class. Teacher's pet. She's the new class leader, and she won't leave anyone in the class behind. Not even you."

You hear a bell go off in the distance, as Kosuke picks up his bag. "Lunchtime."

The two of you make your way to the school cafeteria, where most of the students are already seated and eating. You make note of the groups sitting together. Most of Class 2 are gathered around a large table, many of them deep in conversation. Kosuke sits down opposite Rini, who begins to yell about the two of you leaving her behind to handle gym class herself. Pirate hat girl and Saki are both sitting alone at tables on opposite ends of the cafeteria.

If you're supposed to be so important, maybe it's best that you have a talk with the school nurse who's so eager to study you to begin with. You slink out of the cafeteria and make your way to the nurse's office. You knock on the door a couple of times before it swings wide open. As Tekina sees you standing in the doorway, her face lights up. "Ryoji! I was wondering when I would get a chance to speak to you!"

Before you know it, she's dragging you into her office by the arm and shutting the door behind her. The office isn't all that special, exactly what you'd expect. There some lab equipment lying out on several desk, some propped up skeletons... if you didn't know any better, you'd assume this was a regular, sane academy. Well, apart from the door in her office with a large hazard sign across it. Let's just hope that's a storage closet and Tekina has a wicked sense of humour.

A young blonde girl sits eagerly on Tekina's desk. You recognise her as one of the kids from your class.

"Ryoji, meet Satomi. She's volunteered to be my lab assistant. She just can't wait to see what we can find out about the Darkworld!" Tekina smiles.

"You're a very interesting specimen," Satomi smiles as well. It seems earnest, but comes across as creepy. "Here's hoping we can get as much as we can out of you, Ryoji." Whatever you say, weirdo.

Tekina reaches under her desk and pulls out a case. "The good news is that since today is one of the school's safe days, we can run experiments all through the night without worrying about the Darkworld interfering!" she states. "Then tomorrow night, I'll have to study how you interact with the Darkworld proper! Oh, it's all so exciting!"

Exciting isn't the word you'd go with.

Tekina opens the case and pulls out a longsword. She hands the sword to you as you give her a suspicious glance.

"What's this for?" you ask.

"For the experiment, silly!" she replies.

Your eyes widen in horror. "Oh, don't worry!" she reassures you, "You aren't in any danger yet! Not unless you're very clumsy with that thing and just fall on it! How embarrassing would that be?"

>I don't think I believe you when you say this isn't dangerous.

"This kind of experiment!" Tekina exclaims, as she rushes to the room with the hazard sign and pops inside.

You turn to Satomi. "Is she always this... crazy?" you ask.

Satomi shakes her head. "Not crazy... determined. She's the finest mind I've ever seen. She may seem eccentric to you, but that's because she'll do anything for the progress of science! For a better understanding of what lies in those unknown realms! If you ask me, she's the greatest hero in this entire school!"

Great, the nurse has her own personal fangirl.

Tekina step back into the room, with a large sealed glass jar in her hands, inside the jar is... is...

"Oh my god, what is that thing?!" you exclaim, recoiling in horror at the strange black creature sealed within. A strange, spider-like monster, with glowing blue eyes.

"It's a Darkworlder!" she exclaims. "A little one, but still. A living, breathing specimen... well, Darkworlders don't actually breathe, even with one in my possession their physiology is a mystery. As far as I can tell, they have no organs."

You throw your hands in the air. "Isn't it dangerous to just keep one of those in a jar!"

Tekina laughs. "Don't worry! Despite the size of this little guy, it amounts to little more than a Darkworld cockroach. It's completely harmless. It can't hurt you. And, if what apparently happened last night holds true, you can't hurt it either. Before anything else, I need to know for myself if you truly are powerless against these beings. Let's find out!"

Without warning, Tekina opens up the jar and the small Darkworlder hops out. It's about the size of a puppy, and upon hopping onto the desk, the creature begins to innocently walk about and survey it's surroundings. It would be almost cute if it weren't a creature born from a dimension of pure evil.

"Now, attack it!" Tekina yells. "Show me your power! Or lack thereof!"

The creature looks up at you, it's blue eyes glowing brightly as you ready the sword.

>Swing the sword down on the creature.

>I don't think I want to do this...

Tekina pouts. "Aww, why not? If your story holds true you won't be able to hurt the creature anyway... I hope you don't hurt it. Even a specimen this small and weak was very difficult for us to contain and bring back to this world with us."

You grip the sword tight. "Yeah, but even if I can't, don't you think a swords overdoing it? Can't I just try to... punch it or something?"

"Of course!" Tekina exclaims. "I was only providing you with a single option. If you wish to take initiative in how you attack the creature, be my guests! You are the test subject, after all!" She should know that calling you a test subject isn't doing a great job of endearing herself to you.

You take a deep breath, and swing your fist at the creature. As it makes contact, you feel an intense pain shoot up from your hand and your arm. Even though the creature looks as fragile as a common spider, the moment your fist makes contact it feels like punching a wall. You yelp in pain as the creature casually hops onto your shoulder. You recoil in fear, shaking it off, as Tekina grabs it and places it back in the jar.

"Fascinating... so it is true!" she beams a wide smile.

"That is so amazing!" Satomi yells. "You're amazing, Ryoji!" You don't feel amazing.

"Ryoji, do you know what this means?" Tekina asks.

You shake your head in confusion. "What?"

"I don't know!" she replies. You don't know why she has a huge grin on her face if that's the answer. "I'm completely stumped! I have no idea what this could mean, and that's what's so amazing! To be able to SEE the Darkworlders, but not combat them... you're a complete anomaly! You might just be the anomaly we need! All this time there's been something missing in my research, a missing link, and I have reason to believe that is you! After all this time, you might just be the key to unlocking the secrets to the Darkworld! Dare I say it... the key to saving our world may lie within you! Now, let me take your blood!"

"Well, that's a lot to take in at once-wait, what?!" you yell as Tekina prepares a syringe.

"Well, I can really study you without a proper blood sample..." she explains. "Just the one. I'll try to make it as quick and painless as possible."

>You can forget about it! I'm outta here!

"What?" Tekina pouts. "But... this is important!"

"No it's now," you fire back, "You're just insane! Nothing about me is important! I don't see how me being useless in a fight makes me this big special saviour who's going to bring balance to the force! It seems to me that you're just desperate, and you clinging to the one thing that's slightly out of place! I'm not feeding these delusions any more."

You make a break for the door, as Tekina follows you. You clasps her hands in yours and falls to her knees. "Ryoji, you can't go! Please, I'm begging you!"

"No way! First chance I get, I'm ditching this stinking academy! You're all a bunch of luna-"

"FOR SCIENCE!" Satomi screams as she lunges forward, jamming a syringe into your arm.

You cry out in pain. "AGH! What the hell?!"

You pull away, just a Satomi as already pulled back on the plunger.

"Satomi!" Tekina yells. "What do you think you're doing! That's no way to draw blood! It's just barbaric!"

"But I got a sample!"

Tekina's eyes light up. "You did? Oh, that's wonderful! I'm so proud of you!"

You clutch your arm. What a bunch of freaks. That's the last straw. You need to get out of here. You need to escape while you have the... wait, the sample of your blood. Something's very off... something even you are able to notice.

"Hey, why is my blood black?"

"Huh?" Tekina raises an eyebrow before checking the sample. "Oh my, it is!"

She swipes the sample from Satomi and stares at it, fascinated. "This is a very interesting development..."

She turns her head to you. "Ryoji, I understand that you might want to leave the academy..."

"MIGHT? She's just stabbed me with a syringe!"

"And made a huge breakthrough!" Satomi fires back. "Science: 1. Ryoji: 0."

"I understand how angry you must be, but you have to understand that this is important. You are important. I request that I might see you interact with the Darkworld tomorrow night. Please... If you do, I can promise to protect you. You're safety is my number one priority."

You gives a wide hopeful smile as she looks at you. As much as you want to just get out of there... your blood is black. That's definitely not right, and you can't help but feel a little curious. But is a little curiosity worth all of this? For risking your life over?

>No. I'm leaving, now.

Tekina's smile faded quickly. "Okay... then go. I understand. You're an important subject, but I'm not going to hold you against your will. I'm not a monster."

"You could have fooled me," you reply. "Screw you. I'm outta here."

You storm out of the nurse's office and run out to the school courtyard. You pass by Kosuke as you do.

"Hey Ryoji, where are you going?" he calls out after you.

"I leaving this freakshow behind!" you yell back.

"Okay, cool. See you around!" he waves goodbye.

You keep running for as long as you can, shoving past any student in your way, stopping for no-one, until you finally reach the school gate. It's closed shut, but climbing the wall is still an option. It's then that you a voice from behind.

"Ryoji, what are you doing?"

You spin around to find Saki staring at you, frowning.

"What does it look like?" you reply. "I'm leaving! I'm getting out of here before you nutjobs get me killed! And what, are you going to stop me?"

There is a brief silence, before Saki slowly shakes her head. "No, I'm not going to stop you. If you want to be a coward, then be my guest."

"I'm not a coward," you fire back.

"You're running from danger right now." She glares at you. "You've been nothing but trouble since you got here. I'll be glad to see you off."

"The feeling's mutual," you reply, as you turn to face the school wall.

"Just one question," she continues. "Why are you still alive?"

You laugh. "Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine?"

"I'm not joking. Why are you still alive?"

"Well, I'm clever, resourceful and I always make sure to brush my-"

"The Seeker, Ryoji. It hit you so hard, you went flying. It only grazed me, and I was barely able to walk afterwards. It should have broken you in half. Daisuke was the strongest in our class, and he was crushed within seconds. When that Seeker held you in it's hands and it squeezed... why weren't you crushed? How did you survive?"

Huh, you never thought about that until now. "I don't know, I got lucky. That swing left me with some pretty nasty bruises."

"And where are those bruises now?" she asks.

"They..." you trail off. Your eyes widen, as you come to the realisation that the wounds inflicted upon you had healed up. "They're gone."

"In less than a day?" Saki asks. "Don't you think that's just a little bit odd?"
>>
"I've had my fill of odd," you reply. "Just five minutes ago, I was stabbed by a syringe!"

"Oh really? Where?"

"Right here?" you point out the spot in your arm.

"Here?" she asks, as she drives her finger into that exact spot.

"Hey, don't touch-Wait..." You pull up your sleeve. The area the needle stabbed you, just a few minutes ago, is already healed up. "I don't... understand."

"You might not be a threat to those Darkworlders," Saki explains, "but something tells me they aren't as big a threat to you as we first thought. Look, I don't know what's going on with you, but it's obvious something's up. Some big mystery that everyone wants to get to the bottom of. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe you're just some anomaly that doesn't really hold any kind of answers to the Darkworld. But for the first time, we've found just a little bit of hope. Do you know how long the gate between realms has been open?"

"No."

Saki sighs. "The principal was originally a student here, and he's eighty-years old. And after all that time we haven't learned anything about how to close the gate for good. It's been the same way for decades. You're the first thing to come along that's actually... different. Don't you want to know why that is? Don't you want to know your destiny? Where you lie in this great web of fate? Or are you really going to abandon all of that because you're scared?"

You don't know how to answer that.

"Do what you want, Ryoji. But you climb that wall, and there's no going back. You go home, to a safe life, and easy life. You join a new school, with new kids to pick on. One's that can't beat you in a fight. But in the back of your mind, you'll always be thinking... What if? What if I stayed? What if I got to the bottom of what I am? What if I found my purpose in life? What if I chose, for once in my life to not be such a pathetic coward?"

With that, she turns and faces her back to you. "Goodbye, Ryoji. I'm not waiting for you to make your decision."

She walks away, leaving you behind to make your decision. Boy, that school wall looks a lot bigger than it did just a moment ago...

On any other day, fishing would sound mind-numbingly dull. But right now you could use something dull to calm your spirits, keep you relaxed. One thing you can say about fishing... it's way too boring to be stressful.

"Sure! I've got a spare rod you can use!" Ken replies. "Come on, there's a small pond just out the back."

Ken tosses you a fishing rod and you follow him out behind the dormitory, through some forest into a nicely secluded, humble little pond. And you mean little. It's barely larger than a puddle.

Ken sets up his rod, dropping the hook into the pond. You do the same, but you find there isn't much room to properly cast the fishing line. It's a shame, that's always the funnest part.

"So, how are you liking the Academy so far?" Ken asks, trying to make conversation.

"Like is a very strong word," you answer back. "So far, I've been nothing but traumatised."

"It can't be all that bad!" Ken replies with a smile. "I'm sure you've already made at least a few friends! Excluding myself."

You glance at him. "We're friends already, are we?"

"I would hope so, we share a bed."

The only fence broken is Saki. It'd be easier to build it into a wall.

>>
>>54639

You weren't there for Wrestlequest, Booker's other Quest, were you? It got reallly, really bad, aye. But we pushed through to an amazing finish for S1.

Though, aye, it'd be great if we could avoid that this time, Booker gives great stories.
>>
>I haven't even met most of the class yet. Maybe you can tell me a little about them?

Having read Booker's other quest and hearing him say what he has said about the cast of this one. I think we best prepare for it, regardless.

Hell, I'd give it a try, sounds hilarious, and after all, we're immortal. Smoke can't hurt us now, hehe.

>I guess I'm pretty close with the two kids in the back of class.
>I haven't even met most of the class yet. Maybe you can tell me a little about them?

"Back of the class... that's Kosuke and Rini, isn't it?" Ken asks. "I don't really talk to them much. They don't really interact with the rest of the class at all. They're pretty apathetic."

Ken sits on the ground by the bank of the pond next to his rod. "As for the rest of the class... where do I start? There's Saki, of course. She's second in the class... Oh, I forgot. She's head of the class now."

Ken looks down at the pond solemnly. "Anyway, she's pretty kind... but very serious. There'll be no surprises how she'll act as head of class. She's a real enforcer of the rules, very by the book, and she tries to push everyone into being as dutiful as possible... I don't think she likes you very much."

"I wonder why," you snark.

"Also in the front row you have Hiro. And if you have problems, Hiro's the guy you should go to. He's the nicest guy you could ever meet, and he works hard too. And then there's Satomi. She's a real bookworm, and she's always smiling, but... well, I don't want to call her creepy... but she doesn't have the best social skills."

You nod your head. You know full well just how good Satomi's "Social skills" are.

"Then in the second row, you have Reiji, who might be the smartest guy in the class... though I can never get a read on him. He always looks like he's planning something. He likes to keep to himself. Then you have Sayeka, the most popular girl in class. All the guys have the hots for her... and I'll admit, I've been caught staring a few times too. Hikaru's another bookworm. I hear she comes from a real traditional old-school family, but you wouldn't think so looking at her. Then there's Hoshi. She's nice, but she's pretty quiet, and it's real easy to startle her."

Wow, there's still so many people in the class you haven't met yet.
>>
"In the third row you have Nanami, Isamu, Chihiro and Nariko..."

"Is Nanami the girl with the pirate hat?" you ask.

"Yeah. She's a nice girl, but everyone thinks she's weird, so she doesn't have many friends. All of the third row kids are pretty eccentric in their own ways. Let's see... in the fourth row, you have myself, Akira, Rei and Raiden. All three of them are pretty serious... especially Raiden. He's obsessed with killing as many Darkworlders as he can every night. Not a surprise, he was pretty close with the kid who used to have your seat."

Yikes. Sounds rough.

"Then finally in Fifth row you have Seishiro and Akio, who are also big on killing Darkworlders... but Akio does it to show off like it's some kind of contest, and Seishiro does it for... well, for fun. You also have Akemi, who sits right in front of you. She's a nice girl, but a little air-headed which puts her so far back in the class. She's great with machines, though. You also have Sora, and he's... well, he's a real mystery. Doesn't really talk to anyone, keeps to himself and meditates a lot. He seems nice enough, though."

"And what about you?" you ask.

"Me?" Ken pauses for a moment. "I guess I'd say I'm pretty easy-going... I'm in the middle of the class, so I'm nothing to write home about there. I guess more than anything... I'm a big believer in Justice."

"Justice?"

"Yeah. Do you know how many lives have been taken by those Darkworlders. Far too many. We lost two members of our class before you even arrived, and now we've lost Daisuke... they deserve Justice to be done. In their name."

>Justice? Or vengeance?
>A pretty noble way to live. I can respect that.
>>
>>54725
>>A pretty noble way to live. I can respect that.

Hell, if we're gonna embrace being a junior Yakuza delinquent, embrace it. Honor, justice, killing the fuck out of Darkworlders.
>>
>>54705
Oh don't start that yet, mate. Wait till will see more than 5 women, and wait until we actually interact with them on a regular basis.

Also don't forget that nobody is immune here. Do you really want to be so attached so quickly?

>>54691
I kinda had the whole 'smoking and letting out ones sorrows thing going on' but its hard to deny that there could be a more light-hearted version before that.

>>54718
>>54725

>A pretty noble way to live. I can respect that.

"Thanks," Ken smiles. "And I'm sure there's something worth respecting in the way you live."

"It's hard to spot," you joke.

The two of you relax in silence, before you feel a tug on your hook. "Huh, I think I caught something."

"Me too..." Ken adds, rising to his feet and gripping onto his rod. "Let's reel them in!"

The two of you pull back on your rods, making a big splash in the pond as you reveal... that your fishing line have tangled together.

"Oh crap," you mutter. You pull back further on the rod, attempting to seperate the lines... but you only succeed in snapping Ken's spare fishing rod in half. Oops.

You look over at Ken, wondering if he'll be mad, but he just laughs. "Ha, it's my biggest catch yet! A full grown human!"

He smiles, as the two of you begin to make your way back to the dorm for the night. You didn't realise how fast time has flown while you were fishing. It's pitch black.

Ken makes his way into the room, but you don't immediately follow him. Instead, you notice a certain someone gazing out the window of the dorm's lounge area.

"I heard there was a party tonight," you say to grab her attention. "Was it fun?"

"I don't know, I didn't join in," Saki answers. "I stayed in my room, then cleaned up after everyone else went to bed."

"So you just don't let yourself have any fun, do you?" you ask, remaining in the doorway.

Saki continues to look out the window. "Parties aren't allowed. They're lucky I didn't just report them. Also, there's a strict curfew of 10pm on safe nights. I'd advise you don't break it again."

There's a brief silence between the two of you before Saki speaks again. "So... you're still here."

>Yeah... thanks for talking me out of it.
>You could sound a little more enthused to see me!
>Yeah, but not for long. I'm only sticking around to figure out what's going on with me. Then, I'm gone.

Either your eyes are deceiving you after a long day, or you just saw a tiny smile creep onto the face of the great Saki Kobashi. She hides it just as quickly as she notices you eyeing it.

"Why would I tell anyone?" she replies, "I'm not the kind of person who repeats things told in confidence. Besides, there's no reason for you to thank me, anyway. I wasn't doing anything for your benefit. You should stick around for the sake of the school even if you are a coward. If you had left, I'd still be happy."

You roll your eyes. "Uh-huh? And you're sure that there isn't even a tiny part of you that prepared that huge speech because you wanted me to stay?"

"I'm certain." Saki closes the window and stands up. "You're a classic delinquent with no respect for order, or for anyone's feelings, or even their safety. As far as I'm concerned, we'll never be friends."

She brushes past you in the doorway on the way to her room. She stops and turns her head. "Oh... and don't try to run away again. Because next time, I WILL try to stop you."

Heh, you knew she cared. "Goodnight, Saki."

Saki leaves for bed, and you plan to retire to your own room when the door to the dorm receives a few sharp knocks. Being the only one in the hallway, you decide to open it up. Tekina is standing in the doorway, out of breath. It seems she ran all the way from the main school building.

"What do you want now? My Liver?" you groan.

The school nurse takes a moment to collect herself before speaking. "What blood type are you?"

"Uhhh... I don't know. A-positive, I think?"

"Well not any more!" Tekina exclaims. "I've been researching your sample all night, running every test I could and what I found... oh, I can barely say it, it's so exciting!"

"Exciting" in Tekina's language always means something bad. You've learned that quickly. "What did you find out?"

"Your blood is made from the same substance as our little Darkworlder friend! I paired them up, and it's an exact match!"

"And that means..."

Tekina grabs you forcefully by the shoulders and pull you in close. "Ryoji, from a physiological standpoint... you are a Darkworlder."

Who's your favourite character so far? Because you're going to meet a whole bunch more next episode.
>>
>>55344
At the moment? No one. Still episode two so not much character there. Ken is pretty chill though.
>>
>>55322
>Would the quest have ended had we jumped the wall?

Yep.
>>
>>55359

Glad we didn't then. I'm sorry for helping push it to that point, Book. I still feel the story is better for it thiugh.
>>
>>55344
Favourite character is Ken, I just hope he gets a little more personality than the friendly guy we room with and doesn't hate us.

Also, unrelated, but I bet Saki brushed past us on purpose, she wants that physical contact. Her thirst is growing.
>>
>>55364
Don't worry, I fully expected people to vote for Ryoji to try to run at every opportunity (because it was the most sensible option at the time), so I knew to allow a few developments and reveals happen before giving the ultimate decision to leave or not.

I'm very happy with how this episode developed.
>>
>>55295
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW7Op86ox9g

Well this was a turn, wasn't it?

>>55344
To early to call, I mean, at this point all the characters are just sort of...potential. Saki obviously has the most with some of that heavy baggage behind her. But Ken and Kouske seem pretty neat so far too.

>>55364
Yeah, have to say the fact that it escalated as high as it did was actually kind of thrilling.
>>
>>55344
Probably Saki or Kosuke, I liked his reaction to us leaving and his general attitude in general. I hope we can get him to open up and fight though bet he's got a badass skill/power
>>
>>55391
>Planned expecting anon's to vote for Ryoji to keep running
>Said nothing during the shitstorm
>Kept pushing the envelope to the very end

And this is why I love your quests dude. Well that and the character interaction/development.

Next thread when op?
>>
>>55423
Some time tomorrow. If anything changes, I'll post an update on my QM Twitter.
https://twitter.com/bookerman32
>>
>>55407

Gawds, seconded, Booker is best QM.
>>
Can't wait to meet the new cast. And I can't wait to see how many personal demons we're going to be dealing with. Not to mention our own. Seriously, why did we become a delinquent? I'm sure more than a few characters want to know as well.
>>
As for me, on favorites, it's really hard. I liked Ken, Kosuke and Saki. Rini seemed fun, but we didn't get much of her. Currently those are my Top 3.
>>
Well, I expect about 4-5 of our class are going to want to kill us.
>>
>>55536
i expect the entire class wants us dead because that was shit,.
i mean what the actual fuck?
>>
>>55536
Odds are likely high that row 4-5 are not liking us too much. Provided our identity gets revealed. Ken being excluded here. Though who knows.
>>
Why would anyone but that one girl we told off want us dead?
>>
>>55612
Well it depends on how deep-seated the darkworlder grudges are. Especially now that we seem to be one. At least, physiologically speaking.
>>
>>55654
Just picture us getting nuked by half the class and their faces when they see we can't die.
>>
>>55553
I don't think it'd be the entire class, but I think the ones we should look out for are the ones with the big grudges, the one dude who stays quiet and that guy who is said to kind of plan things. They sound like trouble.
>>
>>55682
I'm hope we don't have wolverine/X-23 teir regeneration though. As in regenerating limbs and shit. Reattaching I'm find with.
>>
>>55344
None really, but Pirate Hat got me curious.

Also I like MCs like this.
>>
Interesting read but I have to say, the /qst/ers in this thread are boring basic bitches.
But then again, the qm is guiding it one way as best he can.

I can already guess the direction of where this is going, and the last dialog was obvious as fuck.
A plot point that will probably show up: someone is gonna be mad MC is basically a dark worlder, -when- they find out.
I guess Phys Ed teacher is gonna train arc MC to use his powers or some shit.
And probably some sentient dankworlder is gonna try and convince MC to join them. (By seeing the choices so far, and the /qst/ers in the thread, I guess MC is not joining)
Generic anime quest. Oh boy.
