In the late seventies through the early nineties, drug violence in South America only continued to escalate. A successful revolution by the IRA in Ireland encouraged similar revolts in central Africa that devolved into decades-long civil wars, and resulted in a USSR faction in the Russian government. Human trafficking for both the organ and the sex trades exploded between south-east Asia and eastern Europe. In the face of such chaos, government run militaries and various agencies were too caught up in red tape to be effective. Frustrated with procedure causing a lack of results, the wealthier citizens of the world turned to someone who would not be weighed down by the bureaucratic process.

Now, in 2032, the private military industry is a widely accepted fact of life, a necessary evil for the security of the world. While some resent these men for what they represent, still more turn to them when government forces would fail.

You are Jan Kowalski, a Polish special forces operator turned private military contractor. In return for cash and other liquid currency, you, and men like you, go places national militaries refuse, and that local police forces avoid.

Last time on Contractor Quest: you went on a date, had an interview, got drugged, killed some billionaire assholes, and stole a boat.

“We should contact someone at HQ before we make that decision. Let’s find our gear, and I’ll call Murdock,” you say, and lead the group to the rooms you were supposed to be staying in.

Oddly, you encounter no staff of any type. No bartenders, maids, or butlers to be seen. You appear to be alone on the yacht, at least in all the areas you’ve entered.

The four of you split up to gather your respective weapons.

As you contemplate what to bring back to the jungle, you call Tiffany. She picks up almost immediately.

“Jan, you were supposed to check in hours ago,” she says, half worried and half accusingly.

“Yeah,” you reply, suddenly exhausted. “General Zaroff decided we didn't need phones as he was trying to turn us into pin cushions.”

“General Zar-, Kowalski, this may come as a shock to you,” she says, sounding confused. “But I haven't been in Freshman English for a long time. Is that the one with the guys trapped under the log and the wolves?”

“No,” you say, slowly and measured. “It was the people hunting one.”

“Oh,” she responds, almost uninterested. “OH,” she says, as it hits her. “Jesus Christ, is anyone hurt? Is Skyler okay?!”

“We killed a few of them,” you say, “and everyone’s fine. We’re back on the yacht, and wondering what to do next.”

“I’m transferring you to McDaniels now. He’ll tell you what to do.”

You wait a few moments, and the gruff voice of Impact! Solution’s owner comes over the line.

“Kowalski, you better not be shitting me,” he says angrily. You can nearly feel the heat of his face.

“No, sir. They drugged us and let us loose on the island. We stole a boat, and are back on the yacht.”

“There are still some on the island, then? Going after you?”

“There are,” you say. “ Four took a chopper to the island.”

“Good,”,he replies. “Then it can still be argued as self defense. Go back. Kill them all.”

“Sir, I-” is as far as you get before being interrupted by an enraged McDaniels.

“No, FUCK you, Kowalski,” he shouts. “They think they can fuck with PMCs? Fuck that. We’re sending a message. To everyone. Try to fuck a contractor, and you die. Period. If these assholes can’t get away with it, it’ll be pretty fucking clear no one can. Call me when they’re dead.”

With that, he hangs up, and leaves you in silence, and a set of very clear orders. Not quite sure what to do with the prisoner, though, but you have something to do in the meantime. That something requires firearms.

Looking back to the guns, you try to decide. You’ll only be able to bring one to the island, in addition to your pistols. Grenades are also a concern, and you can carry up to three. You briefly consider less-than lethal ammo, and then spend a longer time considering just throwing it overboard.

These men are the embodiment of the abuse of capitalism, and you think Egor would like nothing more than to tear through them for no other reason than that. You heft up his considerable weight, and load up several spare belts.

Attaching a frag grenade and a smoke, you walk out back to the hallway. Devin has an M4 slung over his shoulder, and is fiddling with his knives. Poole is holding a skeletonized rifle of some sort, and a very angry expression.

Skyler walks out of his room, carrying his SCAR, and hangs up his phone.

“Coulda told Tiffany I wasn't stuffed in some trophy room, dude,” he says accusingly. “Anyway, what’s the plan?”

“McDaniels wants them dead,” you begin, and not exactly disagreeing. “And he wants the world to know it. We’re supposed to show what happens when you cross a contractor outfit.”

Poole nods. “This is a good way to do that,” she says, fury in her eyes. “Let’s get to it. I don't know how much longer I can wait to get one of those dickheads in my crosshairs.”

“Hold that thought,” Devin interrupts, putting an unreasonably large blade back in a kydex sheathe. “We should check the trophy room that fucknut mentioned. We’ll need all the proof we can get after this, or their legal team will be after us like flies on shit.”

“Are you guys forgetting something,” Skyler asks incredulously. “We gotta pick this place clean. Ever since Philip Williams walked away from a contract with the cruise ship he turned into the Titan, every law divison on the planet has been putting loopholes in ownership of everything.” He had a point. Williams pretty much stole a pirated cruise ship during a contract in Southeast Asia, and it threw the legal world through a loop. “There's no way we’re keeping this yacht once it lands. We can probably weasel the speedboat, though, so we should load it up with everything we can get our greedy little mitts on.”

All excellent points. What to do?

“Okay,” you say, setting a plan in motion. “Poole, take your rifle up to somewhere you have a good view of the island. If they try to bring the chopper back, shoot them out of the sky.”

“With pleasure,” she says, a glint in her eye. She takes off without another word.

“You two,” you order turning to Skyler and Devin. “Take everything that is both not nailed down and can fit in that boat. I’m going to find that trophy room, and any evidence we can find in there.”

“You got it,” Skyler says, and the two of them leave, looking for anything of value.

You set off towards the engine room, looking for the door your captured psycho mentioned. You find it with a little difficulty, and kick the door in after a few frustrating minutes of fiddling with the biometric lock. Seems a bit too high tech for your cyber fingers.

What you find inside is horrifying. Dozens of photos, dead or dying prey, framed above the weapon that killed them. Hunting knives covered in dried blood. Broadhead arrows still covered in crusted viscera. Under one photo, a cut-open hand and forearm cast. You shudder thinking about the implications. Upon closer inspection, each small shrine has a flash drive mounted in the frame.

On the back wall, are two larger photos, in much more ornate frames. Above them, two bows, identical to the ones you took off your defeated hunters. Below one frame, a large black stone with a crack down the middle. Below the other, a spear, not too dissimilar from the ones you fashioned while you waited for the arrival of the hunters.

You start pulling flash drives, and put as many of them as you can into your spare pouches. If these have what you think they have on them, it’ll be a slam dunk as far as any legal action is concerned.

You make your way back up, swinging through the wet dock on your way. Your prisoner is still tied snugly to that post. next to the boat is a collection of gold fixtures, old, expensive looking liquor, a few very large TVs, and a couple very nice fishing poles.

You get the rest of the way up to the deck, and find the other three crowded around a crouched, bruised figure. Poole is favoring one hand, rubbing it and shaking it intermittently.

“Found this one in the wheelhouse,” she says, barely disguised rage in her voice. “Says they fly the rest of the crew off before going to the island each time, and he can only come out of his cabin to steer the ship when everyone’s gone. I’m not sure I believe him.”

>What would you like to do about this new development?
>>
>>441867

Seems like a much more suitable prisoner, there is an actual question of innocence here

Let's go through interrogation though, ask how many times he's done this, and tell him that if there is evidence he has been involved in any of this we will find it
>>
>>441867
Ask him how long he's been part of the crew, what other evidence of the crimes there are besides the trophy room.
Also what's the schedule for the chopper coming back; if he's done this before then he'll know if the hunters stick to a schedule or not.

Also we should make sure that he's properly tied up; we shouldn't trust him just yet.

You kneel down in front of the slightly battered man. “How long have you been doing this,” you ask him.

“A few years now. Look, man, I just drive an empty yacht,” he says, pleading.

“Are you involved in that bullshit on the island,” you ask, eyeing him down. “We’ll find out if you lie. The consequences will be unpleasant.”

“I don't even know what they do on the island, man,” he says, nearly yelling. “I just get paid to circle the island and not ask questions.”

You consider this. He seems to be telling the truth. He certainly has nothing to gain by lying to you. If he knew what was happening, he’d also know it would only be a matter of time before you found the trophy room.

“How long is the chopper gone,” you ask, moving the interrogation forward.

He shrugs. “Depends on the trip. Might be a few hours, other times a few days. Sometimes they come back all bloody and dirty. What… What happens on that island?”

Put the guy in the room for his own protection/so he doesn't take the yacht while we're away. Also tell him that the word is going out to all of the PMC's of the world, and it's in his best interest to stay here and be seen to help us, rather than think he can run and hide.

Then we go to the island and start hunting the fucks down.

We need to disable the chopper first, though. we need to make sure that Paxton can't escape the island.

“They’ve been hunting people,” you tell him flatly. “Slaughtering them like animals.”

His eyes widen, and he opens his mouth wide as if to say something. He closes it again, then looks away, and vomits. “I-I had no idea…” he stammers out.

“We believe you,” Devin says to the now sobbing man. “That’s about the only reason we’re going to tie you up, instead of just shoot you and throw you over.”

“Before we do, though...” Skyler says, “any cash or jewels on the boat? We wanna take them for everything we can.”

“I don't think so,” he replies, wiping vomit from the corner of his mouth. “I always get paid at a bank in Sydney.”

Skyler frowns, and hauls the man to his feet, taking him down to the wet dock.

You turn to Jimbe, who is sitting in the boat’s driver’s seat. “We’re going back to the island to stop this,” you say, as you hand him a looted hunting knife. “If either of these two try to get out, kill them,” you say loud enough for both prisoners to hear.

Jimbe nods, and leaves the boat. The four of you clamber on, pissed off and armed to the teeth. Devin pulls the boat away from the yacht, and guns it towards the island.

Rolled 28 (1d100)

The boat pulls up to shore, and Peshlakai weighs anchor, the four of you hopping off into the knee deep water. Wet socks on a rainforest island, the joys of being a contractor.

The four of you pause on the sandy shore, staring into the green maze in front of you. Wordlessly, Devin takes the lead, and after a sweaty and mildly chafing hour, you reach the “mountain” in the rough center of an island, though it is closer to a rocky hill than a true mountain.

Near the top, Andrea takes her rifle, and scans the jungle. She finds the small black helicopter sitting in a clearing, and two paths cut obviously and crudely into the jungle. Very little care for opsec by these overconfident amateurs. The paths are directly across from each other, one heading towards your position, the other almost directly away.

The rest of the group looks to you, as you’ve been kinda taking lead since this happened.

“We’ll circle around to the far path. Least likely to be a decoy, I’d say,” you start, and begin making your way down the sad little mountain.

As Skyler and Poole make quiet conversation about the ways they’d like to kill these men, Devin stops the procession. He silently motions downwards, bringing your attention to a fresh and rather large paw print. You point it out to the other members, who quickly quiet down.

The team begins moving again, and you walk for several hours in silence. The sun is beginning to get low in the sky, bathing the jungle in a soft, nearly pink light. You’d probably call it beautiful if you weren't here to kill a group of lunatics.

You are snapped back from your mind as Devin puts a hand to your chest, and points into the quickly darkening jungle. You struggle to see it, but a little concentration helps your vision.

A small fire, with six men sitting around it, holding stone-tipped spears and crude bows. The natives of the island, known hostiles and rumored cannibals. You may be in a pickle if this goes south. They give no indication they’ve seen you, though.

You motion to move around the outside, well away from the perimeter of the camp. You have no interest in killing people who may just very well defend their homes, at least in their eyes. Compared to what they’re used to, you may as well be ten feet tall and green.

You get away without incident, escaping either their attention or their interest. You don't care which, at the moment, and quickly lose sight of the small party through the thick foliage.

You come across the path a short while later, and follow it until it meets a small stream, nearly exactly as the sun set. You fill your water bladder, and drop in a disinfecting tablet, and consider your options while giving it time to work.

You give up on the trail, and turn back, following the machete’d path to the clearing the chopper was in.

It's about a two hour walk back, and the forest is pitch black by the time you reach the clearing, the moon shining softly to the ground.

Checking for traps, none seem to exist. These overconfident assholes really don't know what they’re doing. Honestly, you’re surprised they only lost two up until they tried to play with some real heavy hitters.

You slowly open the door to the small helicopter, ready to sprint away at the slightest sound. None occur. You take a small flashlight out of your pocket, and take a look at the control panel.

It may as well be Greek, and you doubt daylight would help matters. You look for a way to slip in a robofinger, but find no such opening. You doubt it would have worked anyway.

You climb out of the cockpit, and as you close the door, you pin a grenade in the jamb. The next person to open the door into the helicopter will be very unpleasantly surprised.

You find a place to set up camp a few dozen yards into the jungle.

You speak to the group, your voice cracking embarrassingly from recent disuse.

“We’ll set up an ambush,” you say, motioning your head to the clearing. “Wait for them to come back, then cut them down.”

“We’ll need sleep,” Devin says, yawning as he ends the sentence. “Who’s gonna take first watch?”

“Devin, you mind patrolling the perimeter for a few hours,” you ask of the scarred native. “You’re best suited for it,” you add.

Devin nods silently, and affixes a suppressor to his M4. “I’ll wake you if there’s trouble,” he adds before beginning a circle around the clearing. A few yards into the jungle.

You prop your bag up against the trunk if a tree, and try to get some sleep in the thick jungle air. Why do you always get sent places it’s hot? Nepal wasn't hot, but you did get your hand shot off. Still probably better, you think as you absently swat at a mosquito. You drift off to sleep, thinking of the snow-covered peaks and the desperate firefights that left you with two bullet wounds. Good times.

You’re woken from your slumber by a light shake, and the scarred face of Devin mere inches from your own. You can still barely see him through the darkness.

“Company,” he says softly, almost as a breath. “Some natives found the chopper, I think-”

An explosion rocks the night, and a spout of flame shoots upwards in the clearing. Skyler shoots off the ground, his rifle already at his shoulder, screaming something you can't quite get. Poole has also rolled over onto both her stomach and her rifle, pointing it towards the flaming helicopter.

You hear screaming in a language you don't speak or understand, though you figure it’s the cultural equivalent of “what the fuck”.

You make the decision to lay low, and see if they’ll fuck off on their own. That way, you won't have to shoot any stone-age savages.

Skyler, however, is still screaming something about mortars, and no amount of effort seems to be slowing him down.

By the time you finally get him to stop, you see several figures slip into the trees, weapons at the ready. By the faint light of the burning helicopter, there were five of them, though you couldn't see what they were armed with.

Poole pulls out a pistol from her belt, and a ka-bar in her other hand. Her rifle is leaning against a nearby tree. The four of you have formed a defensive circle, about twenty feet between each of you. Odds are, the natives know where you are, now. Probably not just going to pass you by, either, even if they are massively outgunned. They would have no idea.

Your eyes are peeled for any sort of movement - no easy feat in a jungle. It seems like everything is moving.

You do catch a glimpse of a hand, though, and Egor throws some lead downrange in the direction. You hear a gurgling scream, and the figure drops to the ground, unmoving. Poor fucker should have just run.

You hear the booming report of Skyler sending full-auto .308 down range, as well as the muffled cough of Devin’s suppressed M4. A pair of fresh screams follow the gunshots.

In the darkness, you never even really see the spear flying at you until it is far, far too late. The stone tip slams into your chest plates, and skids off to score a deep gouge in your right shoulder before dropping to the ground. You very nearly drop your LMG, but grit your teeth and manage to put the pain from my your mind.

An arrow flies well over Skyler’s head, but still close enough to make him duck. It sails into the jungle behind you.

You really don't feel like having to take another month off of deploying. You need to end this, and now. Whether that gets done by chasing these spear chuckers off, or by shredding them with Russian engineering, you don't really care.

Letting out a primal scream, you begin spewing fire from Egor’s mouth, and you can nearly hear him laughing in glee. Maybe this job is getting to you.

As you fire, you see the three teammates take potshots at the foes as they run away. You don't see the results.

As the belt of Egor clicks empty, the only sound in the forest is the ragged breathing of your team and the soft crackling of the now-ruined helicopter.

A few minutes of silent waiting over, you figure it’s safe to assume that your opponents are either dead or chased off. You don't care which

>Combat over
>Jan took a serious wound to his right shoulder. It is bleeding.
>Loot: 3 wooden bows with 17 stone tipped arrows with a thick, black liquid coating the heads, and 5 stone spears. Would you like to take anything?

You set Egor down gingerly, and take a look at your wounded shoulder. It’s bad as superficial wounds go, but still superficial. The bleeding may be a problem before long, though, and having an open wound in the jungle sounds like a terrible idea.

Devin walks up to you as you inspect your wound. “We should go, or we should dig in. Everyone on this island heard that, and now Paxton and his crew will know we got our guns. I say we should gun it for the boat, dig in there. We’ll be in trouble if they leave with it,” he says, staring at the burning helicopter.

“Yeah,” you say, grunting as you pick up Egor. “We need to get to that boat before they find it,” you agree, and the four of you set off. You take a last look at the spear that hit you, triple checking none of that thick black shit was on it. You had a feeling that would be bad news.

The trip back to the coast is extremely uneventful, except for Skyler spotting a bunch of primitive bananas. They were a little bitter, but better than a cold MRE.

You reach the boat without incident, and find it right where you left it - anchored about 20 yards off shore.

You sit on a fallen log, prepared to heal up your shoulder. Reaching down to your med pack- it’s gone. Fuck. Probably lost somewhere in the jungle, never to be seen again. You manage to bum some bandages off of Skyler, but your efforts seem counter productive. The bleeding just won't stop. Hurts like a mother fucker, too.

After several failed attempts, you finally give in, and just ask Devin to do it. He graciously avoids mocking you outright, but you can see it in his eyes. He’s judging you.

You stand, and feel a little woozy. Not exactly at 100% combat effectiveness right now. You still have some fucks to kill though, so it’s time to brainstorm a plan.

Poole walks up to you, and begins speaking.

“I’m next to useless on the beach. I was thinking about taking the boat back to the yacht, then have that driver bring it in to about a thousand yards,” she says, eyeing the yacht.

>You don't know where the hunters are, and you doubt they know where you are
>You have the tools for a rough fortification of your position, and ways to draw them into you. There are a number of fallen trees, and live ones that can be cut down by your kukri or Skyler’s tomahawk. You do not know how much time you have, though.
>Poole also wants to set up her rifle on the yacht
>You also do not have to stay by the boat, or together

>Plan of action?
>>
>>446545
I'd agree, that's the best place for a sharpshooter. It's very visible if people know where to look, but I doubt the fuckers will be able to hit anyone out at 1000 yards. It's not a good place for the whole team to be, however.
Jungle warfare usually involves short engagement ranges and lots of concealment, so ambushes are very effective. Lure the bastards to a location, and hit them from camouflaged positions.

Send Poole and someone else to the yacht, so that the second person can bring the boat back as a bait.

Leave an obvious trail in the sand leading from the boat to the jungle, then set up in the other direction. Covering the jungle, in constant visual contact. Poole will handle covering the boat from the yach.
>>
“Can you drive a jet-ski, if you need to,” you ask of Poole. She nods. “Good. Have Skyler take you back, then return with the boat. Have the driver set up however you want, then cover the beach.”

She nods again, and before long, she and Skyler are gunning it for the yacht. Skyler goes a little heavy on the throttle, hoping to attract some attention. You and Devin work on making a fake trail back into the jungle, and even go so far as to cut about twenty yards into the treeline.

Skyler returns with the boat, and weighs anchor. He motions that he’ll hide in the boat, while the two of you wait in the jungle, watching the approach on the beach. You don't have any better ideas, so you tread carefully just inside the treeline, doing your best to not leave tracks.

After about two hours and a thousand mosquitoes of waiting, Devin’s soft voice comes over your comm equipment.

“Four voices, coming from my side. English.”

You crane your neck to look, and you see two men exiting the jungle, speaking back to someone in the trees. You assume it’s Paxton and his creepy kid, as neither of them have been seen yet.

The two men draw their silver bows, and walk carefully up to the boat. They’re about 30 yards away right now.

>Plan of action? You can give orders to Devin, Andrea and Skyler as well.

“Poole,” you whisper into your mic. “Let them get closer, put one down when they’re near the boat. Devin, try to sneak around and find Paxton and his brat.”

Both reply affirmatively, and you wait for the super sonic crack of Poole’s rifle.

It comes at nearly the same time as a curse from Devin.

“Ran right into them!,” he yells into comms, and you hear several reports from his suppressed M4. “Tagged the kid,” he shouts, “don't know where or how much, though.”

As he finishes, Poole takes her shot. The snap of the rifle is nearly covered by the scream of her target, as the bullet takes him in the shoulder and nearly lifts him off his feet. He stays on the ground, screaming. Meanwhile his partner is searching desperately for the source of the shots, before giving up and making a sprint back to the trees.

“Poole, finish him,” you order into comms. “Skyler, catch up to Devin. Chase those fuckers down,” you finish.

You take a look to the downed man, still screaming and grabbing onto his ruined shoulder. Poole’s rifle reports a second time, and the man’s head simultaneously explodes, becoming nothing but a mess of gore above his mouth. The screaming abruptly stops.

You turn your attention to the runner. He’s nearly at the jungle wall. You’re sure he’s positive that he’s about to make it. That’s when you let loose a burst from Egor, who is eager to taste capitalist blood.

The first round catches him in the left ankle, severing the foot completely. His mad dash to the treeline becomes a tumble forward, and his blood-curtling scream is cut short as the second and third rounds tear through his ribcage, and then through his throat. You can hear him from where you stand, gurgling and choking on his own blood.

Skyler jumps from the boat, already sprinting as he hits the water. He’s making for the treeline, and you turn to follow.

“Poole,” you say into comms as you run. “Keep them away from the boat. If they come onto the beach, cut them down.”

She answers positively, and you reach the treeline shortly after Skyler. Devin is about 30 yards ahead of you, quite a bit of blood on the trampled trail leading up to him.

“After them,” you shout, not bothering to use the radio equipment. “Make it slow!”

The three of you charge through the brush, the slick foliage slapping off your shoulders and arms. In little time, you find Paxton, desperately pulling his son through the jungle, his left arm dangling at his side, stained a deep, dark red.

The team comes to a jogging stop, and raises weapons. Three rifle reports, and two screams. A bullet catches each fleeing man in the lower back, and Paxton himself gets an extra round to the left hand, mangling it.

You walk up, slowly. You expected to see fear and pleading in their eyes. Instead rage and hate occupy their faces. Hayden is attempting to cross-draw a hunting knife, but his bullet wounds are clearly making it difficult. Zachary just stares, his eyes burning into your own.

All this running reminds you, you have a fairly serious shoulder wound. It’s bothering you, and you feel the need to take out some frustration.

Let's drag them back to the beach first; natives might still be around.

Then we can decide if we should video us making them walk the plank, using our knives to take them apart, or simple execution.
It's one thing to make an example out of them, but we also have to be careful that we don't come off as too unhinged.

Paxton digs his knife out, and turns over, attempting to stand. You shoot his hand out from under him, and he drops to his knees and elbows, screaming in pain. You plant a boot firmly in his ass, sending him sprawling to his belly.

You set a knee on the bullet wound of his lower back, and press all your weight onto it, eliciting yet more screams.

Zachary lunges at you from his back, and earns a kick in the face from Skyler. He falls back, and you see a flash of white as teeth are forced from his jaw.

You draw your kukri from your belt, and draw it slowly across the back of Paxton’s right knee. The blade severs the connective tissue with a sickening kunk , and you repeat on the next leg.

You look over to Devin, who is scanning the area for threats. Your eyes wander over to Skyler, who is circling the younger Paxton predatorially. Without warning, he raises his leg up, and brings it crashing down on his knee, bending it at an unnatural angle. To his credit, Zachary bites down the scream. Barely.

He does not, however, when Skyler’s Tomahawk comes whistling down, digging deep into the tendons of his elbow. He screams, loudly, as Skyler stone-facedly cripples his arm.

Devin taps Skyler’s shoulder, and takes his place. He kneels down next to the young man, and begins methodically punching him in the face with all the force he can muster. Around the time his jaw breaks, you grab Hayden by the hair, twisting him to watch. The sadistic teenager stops screaming around the time his left eyeball pops.

You flip Hayden back onto the ground, and look into his eyes. Empty. He’s a broken man. Now he can die.

You regrip his hair, and begin dragging him through the forest. You leave the broken body of Zachary to whatever decides to eat it.

During the hundred yard trip, Skyler and Devin take turns kicking the tortured billionaire. You hear several ribs and long bones break before you reach the beach.

Loading him quickly into the boat, you dispatch a few quick words to Poole. As you pull within a few hundred feet of the yacht, Poole appears on the edge with the imprisoned man. Without ceremony, she seats him on the ledge, and pulls out her pistol. Emptying a single round into his head, she let's him fall a few stories into the water below. The sharks are on the body in seconds.

You lean Paxton over to watch his hunting buddy be devoured. As the dozen or so tiger sharks begin fighting over the last piece, an arm with a bit of shoulder still attached, you wordlessly throw Paxton overboard, taking a sick pleasure in the screams as he is eaten alive.

You can Poole grinning from all the way down here.

Devin pulls the boat into the wet dock, and the four of you disembark, unsure what to do next.

“Kowalski,” he begins with the gruffness you remember. “Is it done?”

“It is, sir. Just finished up.”

“Good,” he replies. “Was it slow?”

“Crippled him, made him watch Peshlakai beat his son to death, then fed him to some sharks,” you answer.

“Fan-fucking-tastic work, Jan. I love it,” he says, sounding strangely excited. “Transferring you to your handler. I got shit to do, now, thanks to those assholes.”

You wait considerably longer on Murdock than you did for McDaniels, but Tiffany does finally pick up.

“Kowalski, is everyone okay? Skyler,” she asks, hurrying out each word in a panic.

“Skyler is fine, Tiffany,” you reply, soothing the psuedo-punk HR rep. “Only I got hurt, and it’s minor. How are we getting home?”

She sighs, audibly relieved. “McDaniels called in a favor. The Titan is en route, they’ll pick you up around this time tomorrow.”

Glancing at your phone screen, that seems to be about six PM local.

“The Titan? As in Damien Williams’ Titan,” you ask in awe.

“Yeah, that one,” she answers. “Now, if you have no other questions, legal has a fucking phone book of paperwork for me to fill out.”

She hangs up without actually waiting to see if you have any questions. As you toss your phone onto the bed, you look up into the open door, and see Skyler leaning against the door frame. He looks worried.

“You got a minute,” he asks of you.

"Sure, what's bothering you? It isn't the way we offed Paxton and his brat is it?"
>>
>>449653
Of course man
>>

"Sure, what is it?"
We should probably look for the ships medical supplies and clean out our wound.

And remind everyone not to break into the booze until we can be sure it isn't all drugged. Odds are it was just added to the drink after, but rich bastard could afford to just write off whole bottles and not risk getting caught in his sleight of hand.
>>
“Of course, dude,” you say in response. “This about how we did in the Paxton's?”

“No,” he says, shaking his head somberly. “No, they deserved every bruise and moment of that.” He takes a step into your room, his hand raising to brush through his sandy blond hair. “This is about me convincing you to come on a fucking nightmare cruise.”

“Skyler,-” you begin, before you are cut off.

“No, just- just let me do this,” he pleads, his hands dropping into his pockets. “You never would have been here if I didn't twist your arm into it,” he says sadly, eyes staring at the clichéd red carpet at his feet. “I knew you had just gotten your hand blew off, and I thought this sounded like exactly what you needed. I had no idea that it would be… This.” You had just watched this man torture a nineteen year old boy. Seeing him this close to tears was… unsettling. “This whole thing could have gone a hell of a lot worse than it did, and that would have been my fault. I’m sorry, Jan.”

He gives you a small nod as he exhales through his nose, signifying he was done.

>"Listen man, I got to take a cruise on a bigger boat than any house I will ever own, I spent some time fucking around in the jungle with you guys, lived out one of my favorite books, and got paid for it. This is exactly what I needed to get back on the horse."
>>
>>450092
Considering it was our holdout pistol that gave us a mighty advantage, we should probably say something to reassure him along the lines of,

>"If you hadn't brought me though, things could have turned out a lot worse."
>>
>>450092
Skyler mate, I'm glad you talked me into this, because otherwise I would be back at home, hearing the first news about this and worrying my ass off, instead of being here with you and the rest, with absolute certainty flowing through my veins that we would make it through, because thats what we do, we get each other through.

Yeah this could have gone a lot worse, it also could have been what the contract advertised, this ain't on you in any way man, and it kinda was exactly what I needed, to get myself back up to speed, a shakedown cruise if you will.
>>
>>450092
"Hey man, this was exactly what I needed. A chance to shoot at targets that don't have the stupidly good luck to somehow hit my hand while I'm in cover and they're running from over a hundred yards away and using a rusty AK.
"Besides, it's a good thing I'm stupidly well-prepared."

>Considering it was our holdout pistol that gave us a mighty advantage
Yeah, first thing when we're back home and sanitized, tell Skyler to get himself a good holdout piece.
>>
>>450122
For the record, that happened while rushing into a room to find cover from a man with a rusty ak about 20 feet away.

Also, we're gonna pick this up in the morning. I'll do a roll call earlyish, then jump in with some sort if combo of what has been stated.

Thanks for playing, and I always look for feedback and suggestions. See you tomorrow

Thanks for running!

Thanks for the run handler.

Put a hand out and pat his shoulder, tell him it's cool, we got to be on a nice boat, soaked up some sun, hell now we have 24 hours to kick back and enjoy ourselves. Make light of the situation and make a joke "besides, what would ya do without me"

Alright, I was hoping to run a bit. But something came up. Instead, we'll have a little discussion. I've been thinking about starting a second quest when my computer is up and running again. Do any of mynreaders have an aversion to that?

I'd probably run them alternating threads with the same loose schedule
>>
>>451531
What would the quest be about?

I wouldn't have a problem with you running a second quest, this one is going really well, and I wouldn't mind another quest with this level of player input.
>>
>>451539
A young Norseman around 900 AD just beginning to go on raids in a very low-magic, medium-fantasy monster world

It would probably be run very similarly to this quest mechanics wise, and hopefully with more social interaction
>>
>>451553
I'd try it our. As long as it doesn't turn into a civ quest.
>>
>>451561
Nope. There may be some management aspects if you guys decide to go that route, but you'd very much be focusing on the MC and a group of close friends and retainers. Similar to how missions work in this quest, but with more consistent teammates
>>
>>451570
Sounds good I'll bite
>>
Looks like we've got support. I'll start on character art and shit when I get my computer back.

I'll be able to pick this thread up in an hour or so if anyone's gonna be around
>>
>>452640
I probably will
>>
>>452640
I'll be here
>>
I appreciate the enthusiasm, guys, but I'll just archive the thread. Next run probably like Wednesday? Keep an eye on the twitter.

Thanks for playing everyone, I appreciate it.
