Welcome to Cultural Civ, a civ game heavily inspired by the brillant >>29797 !

Up to three players at a time will control a tribe through the years and decide its movements, cultural and technological advancements, and diplomacy.

Three tribes just landed on this island, escaping a dire place on shoddy rafts. They will first have to explore, and eventually find somewhere to settle. I will post the culture pics of the tribes and explain the rules in more detail (though it's pretty similiar to cultural evo quest).

The blue tribe's social life revolves around the sun. They are good with basic hut architecture, but they're a lot better at parties. They know how to make fire, pointy sticks, and spearfishing.

the green tribe is heavy built. They come from a faraway land. The woods are the realm of the spirits, and nothing should be taken from it without giving back in rites or sacrifices. The women are generally disregarded in everyday life and live amongst themselves.

yo, one ppl one tribe?

each turn, you can do one action, one cultural evolution, or one technology advance.

Action means attacking, moving, diplomacy, copulating, etc.
A cultural evolution changes a trait of the tribe and adds on it. ex: Bowties are a symbol of wealth into Bowties are a symbol of wisdom
Technology is pretty self-explanatory.

>>40415
not like that though

the Tree tribe saw a huge cedar tribe poking from the forest from where they landed, and they decided fate wanted them to settle there. They leaned their bark and twig shacks against its mighty trunk, putting the women's shack on a lowlier tree.

They eat nuts and berries they gather, but underfeed themselves in fear of angering the spirits.

Alright! I think we're finally ready for turn one. Did all tribe decide their actions?
>>
>>40560
We learn to make dried fish from the sun and it's awesome drying powers

>>

Culture : Bowties represent physical strength, and only the leader is allowed to wear a proper bowtie. Everyone else gets a string to tie around their necks

Action : Farm for textiles and food, make bowties and clothing of different colours from textiles

Action 2: drying fish storage learned

the Sun tribe learns to dry the fishes with the SunL. Yet another blessing of the great shining one!

They also fished a lot, and made many parties where they ate and had a lot of fun. Their population increased by two this year!

Though they managed fine with food, their lack of clothing caused a lot of trouble during winter. Thankfully, they had enough food and good enough huts to have no need to leave their homes into the cold, but some didn't survive through it.

The tree tribe attempts to build the shacks into trees. The tree tribe elders absolutely forbid the shack makers to cut trees, which would be a sin worthy of death.

Unfortunately, their ignorance of architecture, lack of tools, and poor materials failed them! they couldn't manage to build in the trees, but the idea to do so still remains.

Since they ate very little, their population didn't grow this year.

The tie tribe has a new chieftess, who introduced new rules: since their wealth was lost, their ties would represent their social status, and only her would wear the red.

Thus, the tribe members scouted for items to do tinctures with, and found precious purple shells, colored flowers, and oily grasses to color their clothes.

They had no particular trouble this year and had 1 birth.

>>
>>40732
Of course, the sun wouldn't want vaguely defined tribesment worshipping it
>>
>>40716
Attribute : The gods' favors can be brought with sacrifices of the village assholes when needed

Action : Expand towards the bulky goyim

>>

turn 2 end
in these trying times, starving old men and fathers of large families separate themselves from their women for a month worth of nuts. It has started to get more common and accepted in the village.

A scout party was sent deeper into the forest to forage, and they found many berries. However, a tree spirit stopped them, teaching them they were poisonous!

The tree spirit, moved by the poor state of the scouts, decided to teach them how to make bows, and what game they were allowed to hunt.

they now eat squirrels and hares raw. Their situation got a little better, and their population increased by one.

A male tribesman was criticizing the way the chief was handling things, but was too cowardly to risk being put to shame in a fight by a woman. He didn't stop nagging her, though, so after council with the priests, they agreed that assholes and cowards were a free sacrifice to the gods.

Many strange creatures have been sighted all around the island!

The tree tribe already had the chance to meet the tree spirits and abide to their rules. So when they came, they were pleased to find the tribe people where revering them. As a reward they promised to teach them the basics of Earth magic; but no one in the tribe had enough strength of mind.

At sunset, fish people attacked late kelp gatherers of the sun tribe with tridents! two men were killed.

The tie tribe people woke up to find their granaries halved of their contents! They could catch a glimpse of small rodent-like people scurrying away with little bags. a village idiot was sacrified in hope of a bountiful harvest to make up for it.

And we put our action to something useful.
-Build a Fight Pit

Ah, we didn't. Forgot that. But aren't we a small tribe? The chieftess is the best fighter in the tribe, she can handle any men who challenges her.

Breaking their minds through sex or something
>>

Stuff like that can only come after a few generations of slavery. Making yourself more of a sex object will likely only reinforce patriarchy unless we make it to where only the strongest warrior can be the chief's mate, which will either incite more women into power, or make some men real gay.

Turn 2 end!
the sun tribe found some rocks that make a nice, sun-like color when crushed, and use it in celebrations to paint suns on their faces. The shamans decided to keep it on most of the time.

The strategos ordered a scouting of the area, but the shamans found nothing but sand and rocks in the designed area. At least they felt commanding the spirits was easier than usual!

wait no! that was turn 3 end!

the tree tribe considers archery an important art not to take lightly. They teach it to their young, along with the respect of the forest and its laws.

The concentration and effort that goes into archery hones the mind of the practitioners, and a few are attuned enough to learn first-level earth magic! now to wait for the next spirit encounter...

The Tree tribe now has access to a military unit: Archer. any number of males may be drafted as an archer at any time, but a standing military is times more efficient.

also they tried to capture an animal, but weren't fast enough to catch any. They might need to invent tools to do so.

The tie tribe had a rough winter, and feels bitterly against the little thiefs. They set up a Guard, made of the strongest fighters (next to the chief). Some people got disfigured during the institutional melee.

Those fighters wear purple ties and have a high standing in society, the same as priest. They can also be dueled for their position by anyone else.

The guards have spotted the little rat people from afar, but they haven't dared coming closer.

also, all tribes agreed that the Volcano should be a neutral ground, but since it has been scouted by no one, no celebration can take place there yet.

I think we should run them down. I mean we're super stronk and tools take time. Anyways, outrunning prey helps our fitness too.

turn 4 end!
The shamans scried the rays of the sun for answers, and it bestowed a new power upon them!

The shamans now know tier 2 spirit magic: Warding Totems! Spirits are trapped into totems, set to attack anyone unallowed within their warding range.

They set up powerful totems along the coastline to dissuade any frontal assault from the fishes. Though the power was a lot more magically challenging, the shamans don't strain themselves too much making totems. They have a high potential!

After they were shown the totems doing their job, the tribe had a great feast to celebrate! there were 6 new births this year!

The tie tribe guards started training together in their spare time to keep their positions. This training drill helps them getting stronger and more resilient, and is the basis of a standing army regimen.

They also started ordering the farmers around in the Chief's name, who approves the initiative. Tensions are slowly rising between the social groups, but the dueling law dismisses complainers as cowards - and cowards as sacrifice.

The priests started painting the walls of houses and the altar with pigments to enforce the law of the gods and the Chieftess.

the Tree tribe keeps chasing animals for sport, but even with your above average human muscles, none of the runners manages to catch anything.

However, they manage to corner them into pitfall traps they set up in advance! Some animals broke a bone and died into these traps, but you managed to catch a few!...

But with no idea how to make a proper pen, you couldn't manage to keep them around long enough to tame them and they left.

The elders are worried about the dead animals and what to do with them. They decided to bury them so the spirits wouldn't find out.

They jumped in between the hunters and their preys, screaming outrage and disobedience. They said the deers are not allowed to take or hunt, and that they sould forget it or face their wrath.

The Tie Tribe guard caste remembered throwing rocks at the fleeing vermin, and decided they needed versatile weapons, instead of their torches and clubs. They crafted stone spears, and started training their throwing.

An expedition was sent to scout the vermins' home location. They got lucky and found it, following a slow one. The critters were acting cowardly all the way to their warrens, fleeing the scouts from sight.
Unfortunately, this behavior made the squad overconfident, and they decided to go smoke the warrens out. That's when dozens of the little rats popped out, and tore them apart! Only one was able to come back, injured, to tell the story.

the people start doubting the guards' effectiveness.

And so the exotic death magic it is!

here are the results!

possess: a spirit bound by the caster possesses someone else, for as long as the caster can stay focused. Easier on animals.

sap life: the caster can sap life force and vitality from a touch. Works on plant and animals. Can sate the hunger of the caster.

accelerated growth: can make a sapling grow faster, or make berries mature in a bush. It still drains the soil, and extensive use can kill the plant.

Note that the Chieftess, though the most prone to magic, is still a poor magical user and will struggle with the level one spell.
The shamans finally reached their potential, and cannot go further down this path of magic without honing their mind even harder.

I read thread over again, so we're allowed hares and squirrels,so heres the plan:
1. Hunters hunt small game
2. Trade bows for fire knowledge
3. Women plant tree to make up for fire
>>
>>49522
Got a few pine cones that fell on my head in the night but apart from that, it's pretty good

>>49524
I think fire magic might be incompatible with us.
>>
>>49532
They didn't kill you.
Must be a good omen.
>>
>>49538
I don't think that the spirits aren't too angry with me, I hope I can still make it up to them.

No, the sun tribe knows how to make fire. Im talking about fire as a tech, not a magic. We can do that later anyways

>>
>>49635
It would be a bit silly if the tree tribe didn't know how to plant trees. I think that it's a given.
>>
>>49653
I suppose so but stil, if we havent learned agriculture, how do we have knowledge to plant saplings?
>>
>>49663
How do we gain that knowledge? Shaman has a vision sent from the tree spirits and tells the tribe exactly how it's done?

Idk if Opee will let us say a shaman had a vision. Maybe build protected shrines around trees?
>>
woa lot of people around already
>>49688
I was aiming for the same time, so in like half an hour
>>
>>49707
I'd like to get up in the trees, gives us an advantage against anything on the ground plus we have bows.
>>
>>49707
But it didn't turn out too well last time.
>>
>>49725
Invent rope or something so you can build in trees. Without the presence of nails actually creating structures in trees is really hard.

That's why the best humanity ever had for a long time was teepees and mud huts.
>>
>>49727
Ooh, how about culture: cutting trees ok but only if we perform ritual/sacrifice to make up for it
>>
>>49741
Ritual to spirits sounds nice, like some sort of spoken word and/or sign of gratitude. Prefer not to sacrifice.
>>
>>49745
Yeah good point. What kind of ritual you think?
>>
>>49734
It's probably a bad idea to go in trees for now.

>>49753

Oops thought you were a Bowtie.

>>49884
Culture : All young people are to be physically tested in non-lethal combat every 5 years starting at 10

Action : Attack the rat vermin with the best people we have
>>
>>49926
kms ignore me I thought I am the only bowtie here rn >>49923

Can we physically test every person every 5 years starting at 10 to give them bowties? So if the winner of the previous time loses their bowtie gets downgraded. It gives incentive to be physically strong when young.
>>
>>49923
>>49926
Scribe pls we don't even need combat testing.
>>
>>49939
It gives our people something to strive for and it keeps our population full of muscular men / women ready to punch the living shit out of anyone
>>
>>49908
This
>>
>>49941
The only thing is that we already have it to where people can challenge anyone in a position for their position, and we already have three ranks in the tribe.
I don't think having a level system for bowties would be good when social status is a much easier thing to keep track of and not confuse the public.

turn 6 end!
The tribe archers, after a council, decided that taking parts of trees, such as branches, would be fine as long as a proper communion is done by them and the wood spirit within the tree still lives.

They had an intense hunting year, and their population increased by 3. They could have had more children if the leaders didn't own most of the tribe's women.

The sun tribe champions and former wrestling champions formed a manly bond around the sport, and form a loose wrestling fight mob with the current week's champion at their head.

Many times this year, bodies of fishmen have drifted ashore, brutally gutted. The shaman see this as a good omen.

there was much chaos amongst the tie tribe this year. The guards wanted to keep fighting the rats and train the children, but the farmers had enough. They celebrated harvesting season and the gods, while the disapproving guards refused to participate.

The guards train their children to be strong fighters and have a chance to take their place someday.

However, due to the tension, many duels happened, and though the Chieftess' "magic uppercut!" beat everyone, the guard composition changed and shifted a lot. Former guards are bitter, and keep training themselves and their children when not working the fields.
>>
I'd like to join this here hippie commune (aka tree tribe)
>>
turn 7 start!
>>
SCRIBE BRO
We got a lotta tension happening between guards and commoners

We need to make people not wanna hate each other.
>>
>>49996
So i guess that Sun champ is the boss of this mob

>>50055
The shamans should possess some small critter and use them to scout
>>
>>50040
We should probably set up more warding totems in case of attacks
>>
>>50051
Sure thing I guess
>>
>>50051
If the meme person isn't here, you can take their place.
>>
>>50066
I agree
>>
>>50040
Count me in, then.
>>
>>50069
Oh yeah, this makes sense too
>>
>>50063
We need a new class that's possibly for physically weak commoners - a Cataloger class. They keep track of everything and are basically the logicians of the tribe. Encourge festivals that are focused on appreciating the guards and give guards extra money for their service to the tribe.
>>
>>50066
You guys willing to trade fire tech for bows/wood?
>>
>>50078
We could also use small fish as scouts and see what causes the deaths of the fishpeople
>>
>>50070
>>50051
Probably want to sort out the divide between the leaders and the other people concerning wives and shit.
>>
>>50070
So how do we deal with the baby problem? I say we add to culture that it is customary to lend out women during festivals. The children resulting from these could them be communally raised so dynastic problems are avoided.
>>
>>50078
I was thinking of a longer term goal of finding predators, somehow keeping them (like in makeshift cages or something) and then the shamans could use their possess magic on them in case of an attack.
Like an army of mind controlled lions
>>
>>50083
They can be mediators between the tribal tension too, yeah!

What the new class was just the priest class, and were just as high as guards, but meant to work for the betterment of everyone and making sure the clan didn't have internal strife?
>>
>>50084
But wouldn't fire upset your forest spirit? Since ya know, fire needs firewood and whatnot.

>>50088
>>50098
What do you guys think?
>>
>>50084
Need to scout out to the great area to do that.

>>50096
That's a good idea but that's not too great for the kids' mental health, Psychological stuff.
>>
>>50088
>>50078
So wait can spirit magic possess animals? If so we could tame and use larger beasts to defend the tribe, and keep the people free of some activity in order to better worship the sun. Also, I think we should up the rituals somehow in order to better harvest sunpower.
>>
>>50088
I didn't see this - this desu
Best idea Ive seen this turn
>>
>>50107
Yeah, we got possession as level 3 spirit magic and Opee says it works better on animals. And our Shaman has reached their "potential" in magic as he said, so they'll need to actively seek out more knowledge to hunlock more magics
>>
>>50106
I think exploring towards sun village is good. Also, what about using magic to grow crops?
>>
>>50104
Perfect.
>>
>>50114
I think we should find more natural resources and make use of what we have already learnt before wasting more turns learning more.
>>
>>50117
Regarding fire, my plan is to use the trapping pits to store a bonfire to cook meat, so we can store it longer and easier digestion. We use the sticks from trees to fuel it only when necessary (cooking)
>>
>>50114
I see, that's pretty nifty. Do fishmen count as fully people or something between man and animal? Maybe the shaman could possess one and lure them to our cause.
>>
>>50098
Yeah we should make this our longterm goal!
>>
>>50121
Okay so we got our culture for this turn.

Now we need to use our tech point.
I was thinking a law system that's managed by the new clergy class.
>>
Sun full?
what is still open?
>>
>>50139
Room for one more in Bowtie
>>
>>50117
We might not know their language yet, but first contact is a step in the right direction I think. As long as they aren't offending the tree spirits.
>>
>>50132
I think so too desu. A law system to purge the corruption that may arise.
>>
C'mon Opee, there's room for two more tribes, right? One for each magic affinity
>>
SunBros what do you think about this
> Action
Possess fish guys and find out what's been killing them
> Culture
???
>>
>>50049
pretty good thread Opee.
>>
>>50132
the tie tribe already has a bunch of priests of the Pantheon. They do the sacrifices and preside the celebrations.
>>
>>50157
Maybe we should get some sunbased festivals for the population?
>>
>>50154
I think the bowties are pretty close to having some people leave and make a new tribe imo.
>>
>>50157
Possess fish and/or fishmen, and for culture elaborate the rituals in order to harvest more sunpowa. Like, each 7th day the people need to sun-stare communally.
>>
>>50164
Okay then.

We'll just make it their job to mediate between classes and make sure laws are in order. So no new class, but new cultural responsibilities.
>>
>>50154
if we get enough nomads why not!
3 nomads reply to this and we'll introduce a new tribe!
>>
>>50166
Maybe like painting sun symbols on trees to show our appreciation for the sun's life force?
>>
>>50157
>>50166
Yeah. We already have regular parties so this festival should be the biggest party with the most sun reverance

>>50169
But the 7th day is already the national slackoff day. Changing that may be negative
>>
>>50173
Claimed, let's go
>>
>>50169
or this
>>
>>50128
>>50146
Culture:
>Cook meat using trapping pits to store bonfire. Store longer easier digestion.
Action:
>Send a scout with offering to Sun tribe, hope they don't backstab, they said they wouldn't.

Sound good?
>>
>>50169
Plus we already stare at the sun regularly everyday anyway

>>50177
Wouldn't that put us against the treedudes since we might be angering the tree spiritrs
>>
>>50128
I definitely think we should invent solar ovens asap, but we would need to have mirrors for that and who knows how long that would take to research.
>>
>>50189
Cant do fire until we learn it from suns
>>
>>50179
You're right. Then how about each party starts and ends with sunstaring?
>>
Also I think there are 4 sun guys right now
>>
>>50173
Sure why not
>>
>>50191
we're not harming the trees that way right?
>>
>>50189
What do we offer them? Food? Women?
>>
>>50191
We don't know about the tree dudes, plus the sun is the highest of the hierarchy in the natural order of things, it'll surely protect us
>>
>>50202
Does painting over them count as harming. Who knows what the fickle tree spirits think.

Since we're the sun tribe so we can't understand them anyway.
>>
>>50203
We have resources (wood) and tools (bows)
>>
>>50199
you're right

>>50187
I think you came last into the sun tribe, how about you join the new tribe?
>>
>>50191
We don't know about the tree spirits plus the sun is the highest thing in the order of nature, it'll surely protect us.
>>
>>50191
There is never enough sunstaring, however now that you mention it it might hurt our productivity. How about we require magic pigmented underwear for parties/holidays/the 7th day? It creates a stronger tribe feeling and makes people feel more alike.
>>
>>50207
Painting people's faces doesn't hurt them
Trees are stronger than people
>>
>>50203
>>50209
Didn't we say we were going to give them a few bows?
>>
>>50210
Nah I was third I think
>>
>>50227
Me by a different name, you saw nothing.
>>
>>50217
Yes, we should have a proper name for this day, and not jsut call it the Tubular 7th day where nobody works and everybody gets sweet underwear
>>
>>50210
If you want me to join another tribe I will
>>
>>50238
alright, I'll announce it right now
>>
>>50196
So do we go with lending women at festivals for culture?
>>
Yeah Burned Eyed Asshole as the last to join the sunbros, do we really only need 3?
>>
>>50246
It's not what we need, but what is allowed. And 3's that number.
>>
>>50241
Ohh boy
>>
>>50243
Should bring them back with us though, so it sorts out our population a bit.
>>
>>50236
We can wait till sun tribe tells us what they can trade. In the meantime, lets research agriculture as our tech with berries since thats what Opee told us was in the forest so far
>>
>>50237
If only there was a name for such a 7th day where we honor the sun
>>
>>50252
No I meant for the culture change since we can't use fire yet.
>>
Any slots open?

The Orange Tribe drifted ashore!

coming from a more advanced, yet harsh place, the Orange Tribe knows how to mine, smelt, and use copper in crude garments and jewelry. However, metal is a luxury for women, it would be ridiculous for a man to wear it.

Men cut themselves to turn adult, and men with deeper, uglier scars are more desirable.

They believed in gods, but after a terrible event they believe all form of supernatural power to be evil.

They are semi-anarchistic and debate in grand meetings that last hours to make village-wide decisions.

They speak a tongue similiar to the Tree Tribe.

I had an idea to combine our ritual scarring with smelting.

Our young boys that scar themselves to reach adulthood do so while smelting metal, their blood mixing with the copper. This way, our smelting skill greatly increases. Plus the boys can give their finished product to a female of their choice, and it would be quite the romantic gesture, I think.
>>
>>50504
like dunno we have tech affinity so we could go into magic based basic engine/motors
>>50506 cool so this turn what do we do?
>>
>>50512
Like Branding?
>>
>>50512
i'm afraid the scaring culture could increase the mortality rate, creating appropriate painkiller or medicine should open new choices for scarring techs
>>
>>50515
I for one don't think magic motors are gonna be a thing. Magic here is more primitive and spiritual seeming.

And the game is cooler if we're not that advanced.
>>
>>50518
Marks from branding are not manly enough, we prefer deep scars

>>50524
That is a concern, let's see what we can do about it

kelp underpants were invented. After many rashes, everyone agreed it was a terrible idea. They only use it in the coldest of winter.

The shamans sent fish (instead of spirits, for some reason) to scout underwater, see what's up with the fishmen. After many uneventful tries, they finally found something - a water devil bathing in the blood of fishmen. It seems it knew it was watched - it winked at the spy fish before devouring it.
>>
>>50525
i see so for a tech point maybe like better weapons side note are the vermin still a problem if so i think fire magic is key to our survival
>>
>>50533
Ah yes, of course. The deep dark sea harbor devils. And since dark is evil we must kill the ocean
>>

>>50533
The green tribe started cautiously using magic on bushes around the village to yield a maximum amount of berries many time a year. The spirits witnessed the act and approved, though they were surprised you knew earth magic.

A scouting party was sent to the ashlands. They found nothing that caught their eyes in this cursed place, and so kept walking for a long time.

Eventually, they found people! They were surprised to understand what they meant (roughly) and were stunned at the wealth of their women. They had overall a positive first encounter.
>>
>>50531
amputation also could come in to mind, it shows higher status in social classes.

different kind of scars also should determine the nature of people. Like burns or cuts and so on.

As for the godless nature, maybe preventing death at all cost is something to think about. For death causes the soul to return to the evil god
>>
>>50531
I like your style

>>50541
The vermin still exist but haven't really done anything since we made guards.

What I really think we need is to get a kind of ranged weapon that fits us, and since we can already make fabrics and stuff maybe we should research sling stones.
>>
>>50543
we should probably leave the waterdevil alone for now.
>>
>>50543
We shouldn't try to kill it, since it did away with the fish people, but we can't just leave it be. What if we had the shamans enslave it somehow?
>>
>>50556
Which means it's time to enact the cage plan, time go find some materials
>>
>>50543
>Kill the ocean
Where do you think the sun will go sleep then?
>>
>>50555
or like a explosive?
>>
>>50549
This must be a very rich tribe, for they decorate their money.

>>50543
It's only logical we boil the ocean- I mean drop depth charges- I MEAN throw our spears down into the depths hoping they'll hit something. Yeah!

>>50555
Chief! I think we should focus on Medicine this round so we can trade with the sexy ore women from Orange Tribe for their ore.

Bowtie Family is done
>>
>>50554
That's a good path to medicine I think, but do we have the means?
>>
>>50560
We'd have to discover combustion and gunpowder first. That's some pretty advanced stuff.
>>
>>50558
so we should try scouting for resources for cages

>>50559
If the sun can't go to sleep we'll be better off
>>
>>50566
lets just wait for development then. Immortality is high end stuff
>>
>>50549
>>50503
Lets try and set up a trade route, copper for bows/wood?
We can expand the farm idea, women solely manage farm with elder men coming to magic it out
>>
>>50512
Noice. Let's develop like fine copper wire or some shit to make the prettiest stuff. Or I dunno can we polish it up with volcano ash? Is that prettier?
>>
>>50564
That Looks Great! i also back up scribes idea on the medicine the orange guys will need it or they will die off early
>>
>>50572
Yes, Spirit scout for some materials. NOw what about the culture? Or Tech?
>>
>>50575
They'll probably want food too, not much around there.
>>
>>50564
We look wonderful!

Also sure, we can focus on medicine, we already have a lot of focus on plants already so getting herbal remedies wont be too hard. Also of we're fighting rats we may need it to fight infection.
>>

The Orange Tribe started mixing crushed coloured stones into their scars at the coming of age ceremony for hardcore points and nice colors.
A smartass elongated his ritual knife to make a bigger scar and almost died. The pace is set, though; now, ritual knives are longer, making them effective weapons.

Since the food is scarce and some experiments were quite detrimental to their health, their population did not grow this year.

turn 8 start!
>>
>>50566
>>50574
We should be able to wash down with ashen water so we smell less bad and look more nice. That could be like a start to hygiene and medicine.
>>
We should also try to make use of shamans moar. We have the most advanced mages so far, it's be a shame to let them go to waste. While some people look for cage materials and animals, the shamans should try to come up with ways to use the power of the sun with the help of the spirits.

(also somewhere down the Sunny Path, we should try to discover glass)
>>
>>50596
Oh shit.

There should be some healthy herbs in those berry bushes. Research Medicines and proper scarring methods!
>>
so for our culture roll maybe make witch doctors a bowtie rank below guards but above farmers
>>
>>50596
So their ritual knives can be used as actual military grade swords now. Wow.
>>
>>50575
I think we should trade bows for copper weapons instead of just copper. We don't really have a use for plain copper see we can't forge without lots of fire, which requires fallen trees.
>>
>>50603
Yes, so this turn we scout for materials while the shamans talk to the great shining one for some new tech?
>>
>>50604
alternatively, research agriculture
>>
>>50596
>>50584
>>50566
Trade rabbit/squirrel meat for copper?
>>
>>50603
we could still implement a system like this >>50419
>>
>>50606
also another thing make witch doctors a thing
>>
>>50612
That works too, pleasing the sunspirits is always a good idea
>>
>>50606
Well we do only got 32 people in the clan, I think having more than the 3 or 4 classes we got right now may spread them a little thin.

I personally think we may need to expand the farms.
>>
>>50606
Witch doctors? No no, we're going to go full on medical doctors. Witch doctors are gay.
>>
>>50611
Good point, maybe use copper hoes too to til earth and have berry farms?
>>
>>50611
>>50615
Copper Bladed Weapons for Bows with Sharp Bones, good trade if I do say so myself.
>>
>>50617
Yeh, that would be better actually. More shamans means more power, and since we have the best magic user so far he could also make for the best teacher of young shamans. Also, are they priests or shamans? I think shamans fits better since we go along well with spirit magic.
>>
>>50624
We need a new class of doctors for trade + personal use, and we can expand farms later. We have plenty of food.
>>
>>50615
>>50566
should we?, this should cover the food shortage
>>
>>50631
That sounds like a fair trade

Does trading take an action from both tribes or what, Opee?
>>
>>50633
'Kay then!
Apothecaries it is.
>>
and with that I'm off for a while. I'll be back tonight!

when you're done with your turn, quote this post!
>>
>>50631
>>50630
Maybe we should also research herbal medicine, so that we have another thing to trade
>>
>>50634
There's no point in trading them straight copper, they can only make use of the finished product
>>
>>50641
Summary for this turn:

-Research Medicine or Agriculture
-Trade Copper Weapons with Bows
>>
>>50624
yeah i was just thinking of a medical role for our clan
>>
>>50632
I think shamans work better too, I'll change my name accordingly
>>
Can i join or so ?
>>
so our turn is doctors and medicine right?
>>
>>50659
I guess that first one would just be "usage of local plants"
>>
>>50654

so. copper weapons then for bows
>>
>>50652
>>50630

Everything that has actually happened to us (a Tree Tribesman's account):

>>40560
>Bark and twig shacks against big tree, women shacks near shit tier tree.
>We have eaten nuts and berries before that haven't poisoned us, I assume we know which ones they are.

>>40695
>We fucked up on making shacks in trees.
>Kind of still want to do it though at some point.

>>40856
>Women as currency for food.
>Spirit taught us how to use bows.
>We can eat squirrels and hares.

>>41035
>Spirits have promised to teach us the basics of earth magic.

So do we have shamans pray for new tech or have children trained to be shaman at a young age?
>>
>>50649

Research herbal medicines

>Culture
Establish a doctor class

>>50660
>>50633
>>
>>50667
soo...

do we lock?:

-Research Plant usage
-Trade Copper Weapons with Bows
>>
>>50641
trading takes a cultural action from both tribes
>>
>>50670
We should develop a set of rules to help organize the clan better, one of the laws being that children are to be trained in the ways of sun-shamanism.
>>
>>50681
ok then im gonna go afk till opee is back
>>
>>50681
For the next few turns, increase our military capabilities and look into magitech machinery, along with using one turn to trade. With that said, I will now head off to bed! Goodnights yall.
>>
>>50686
>>50687
If tree tribe accepts, then yeah, let's go with that

Turn after that, I want to do my idea though
>>
>>50687
>>50686
Ok so we're going to open up the trade with the Copper Tribe, what's our action going to be?
>>
>>50696
Night!
>>
>>50670
I agree with this >>50692
>>
>>50704
maybe its

Culture:
Copper Blade <-> Bows with Sharp Bones
??
>>
>>50696
Goodnight!
>>
>>50713
Isn't that the culture one?
>>
>>50718
yeah i think. Trading costs the culture action
>>
>>50692
>>50711
Ah yes of course. Took us this long the develop an actual rule system to organize ourselves. Truly the Sun works in mysterious but incredibly shining way
>>
>>50713
We still need a regular action.

>>50652
Maybe the herbal medicine idea, I like that one.

>>50725
Didn't you also kind of want food?
>>
>>50727
We only make rules to praise the sun more, the sun is almighty after all
>>
>>50737
does copper blade covers both bows and the rabbit meats?

or should we switch out bows for food? >>50700
>>
>>50739
Of course, praise the sun
>>
>>50749
I think it's going to have to be 1 for 1, wouldn't mind some copper hoes.
>>
>>50755
i think we dont have agriculture yet, so we don't know how to build hoes. Unless Opee also allows cultural exchange
>>
>>50764
We'll have to wait until Opee gets back.
If you were to choose however, which one would you go for? Bows/Food
>>
>>50772
I think it makes the most sense to trade weapons for weapons, but that's just me
>>
>>50772
as for me, i'll go for food. I dont know how long it takes for a war to spark. But its pretty peaceful for now, so no weapons.

i dont know about the Tribe Chief though>>50700
>>
>>50777
I think with the copper blades and bows, we'll be in a good position to start hunting for ourselves

If we need more even after that, we can still trade other implements

ONWARDS TO SUN SHAMANISM BROTHERS
>>
>>50790
Okay then.

Tech:
Research Plant Usage

Culture:
Trade Copper Blade <-> Bow With Sharp Bones with Tree Tribes
>>
>>50772
Maybe we can let them have both if they give us some of their women?
>>
>>50800

>>
>>50795
Sun is love
Sun is life
>>
>>50776
>>50772
(I Know ID is different but its me from laptop, trust me)
Heres what I propose for the trade:
> Copper Blades <----------->Bows
> Women <----------> Food

Since y'know, we trade women as currency, might as well put that to use
>>
Summary for the sunbros, one of the shamans had this written during his sunbathing hours to keep track of what happened to our wonderful community.

>>40682
As we arrived on the island we started fishing, we also learned how to dry the fish thanks to the sun.
>>40885
To please the sun more shamans started practising more rituals by staring into the sun. also thanks to the sun we can now make kelp fiber.
>>41035
Fishpeople are found in the water near our village, they're agressive towards us.
>>42018
yellow dust is used in festivals and used by shamans to show their devotion to the sun.
>>42499
we now know level 2 spirit magic, we've set up warding totems along the coastline to keep the fishpeople away from us.
>>43382
We've tried to learn blood magic but as it turns out blood magic is not compatible with the sun.
>>43620
Thanks to some unseen power we've learned how to use level 3 spiritmagic, we can now posess others, however this works better on animals.
>>49996
We've started ritual wrestling the winner of the competition is the leader of a lax wrestling-based male fighting mob.
>>50533
Dead fish people started showing up on the coast. We posessed a fish to try and find the source which turned out to be a sea witch. we've decided to leave it alone for now.
>>
>>50806
Never mind, I guess you won't trade wimmins.
>>
>>50806
>>50803
sorry mang, We need them ladies for more children.
>>
Hey, any tribe in need of people?
>>
>>50803
Well you get both food and bows giving you the pop boost, which means you will probably get a net 0 gain for pop next turn with a boost because of easier hunting with bows after that.
>>
>>50823
I think both the bowtie tribe and orange tribe have place for 1 person right now

>>50806
I think we should keep the trade lanes open if you orange copper people have anything else, we'll be glad to trade.
>>
For an action, I have a couple ideas
> Reproduce: Get more men warriors and wimmin farmers
> Build pen: Build this out of wood to capture medium animals we can domesticate
> Capture live bunnies to breed: We have pits we can but the rabbits in, and they should be easy to carry in your hands
>>
>>50847
Reproducing is an action?
>>
>>50830
The hunting tech is still unresearched. And our culture has crazy high mortality rate right now.

For me, i'm not taking any chances.
>>
>>50830
So just to clarify,
>Copper weapons = food or bows
>Women = food and bows
>>
>>50830
If the trade is continuous then we're constantly losing women for food we might be able get on our own anyway, which I can't see being good for our population growth

If it's just once, then how much impact can that food really have?

Our women are too valuable to be giving away so easily anyway
>>
>>50847
Could roll for it.
>1: Reproduce
>2: Build Pen
>3: Capture Bunnies
1d3 obvs
>>
Rolled 2 (1d3)

>>50859
>>
>>50857
If the women thing happens then probably just use them instead of mass reproduction.

>>50862

>>50835
Bowties seem like cool people.
>>
>>50873

>Also I think for archery and magic maybe we should separate the two? Like, men are warriors, but there's magic warriors and archer warriors.

>>41348

>>43154

>>43820

>Learn some agriculture! (Kind of, maybe expand...)

>>49707

Scout resources for cages and pens in order to capture animals

>Culture
The Laws of The Golden Path are developed, which mandate among other things that children now learn the art of shamanism.

We should plan ahead a bit sunbros. I say we try to advance teh majeks while the cages are built and animals are captured. Our repertoire of spells should be as large as possible, after all.
>>
>>51088
Indeed. Not only must we make more shamans, we must also have the existing ones train themselves even harder to unlock new spells. And put up more wards. because you can never have too many wards
>>
Tree Tribe still needs to link Opee their actions
>>
>>51088
>>51095
More wards will help us protect against attacks we only have wards on the coastline as of now. and with the help of the golden path we'll be able to train more shamans so we can level our magic? maybe we can develop magic that needs multiple people but is stronger?
>>
>>51120
>inb4 our final magic requires the entire tribe to sacrifice itself to turn the entire island into a miniature sun, killing everybody, jsut as the sun inteded
>>
>>51127

>>
>>51127
>>51088
If we were to catch bigger sized animals and keep them in cages we could learn how to ride them too. which would make scouting the island easier
>>
>>51127
All shamans (at that point the whole tribe) shall commit ritual suicide in order to form TEH EMPEROR, a sun given the form of man.
>>
>>50649
Culture:
>Trade with Copper Tribe, copper weapons for bows with bones.
Action:
>Build some pens out of wood to hold captured animals to domesticate.
>>
>>51012

The Tie Tribe is ruled by their greatest fighter. Their main food source is agriculture, and they also grow linen to make clothes. They sacrifice part of their harvest and people to gain favor from the gods.

>Turn 1
A woman was declared the best fighter of the tribe and thus made chieftess ;
Bowties became representations of a person’s strength (and social status), each color representing a different group, the chieftess’s being red;
Tinctures were discovered, and the tribesmen scouted for items to fabricate them with.

>Turn 2
An asshole was burnt for being an asshole to the chieftess, and the priests decided assholes would be free to sacrifice for the gods;
A scouting was lead to the north, discovering an area rich in clay, and the tribesmen started digging pits.

>Turn 3
The granaries were attacked by rodent-like vermins;
After a rough winter, a Guard was set up composed of the tribe’s strongest fighters next to the chief, wearing purple ties and standing as high in society as priests;
The Tie Tribe took their first steps towards military discipline;
The guards spotted the rat people, but are fucking incompetent and cowered.

>Turn 4
The guards developed a training drill and ordering farmers around;
The priests learn wall painting, using it to enforce the law of the gods and the chieftess.

>Turn 5
The guards learn how to craft stone spears and trained their throwing;
An expedition was sent to find the vermins. They found their home but failed miserably, again.

Turn 6
The chieftess learnt some Death Magic;
The farmers celebrated the harvesting season;
Guards started training their children to become guards to take their places in the future;
Lots of chaos and duels.

>Turn 7
Based priests spoke up, gaining more power and becoming absolute judges over all other social classes and writing laws, and calming down the people.
That about covers it. Our situation with rats appears to be almost as bad as Australia's with the emus.

>Maybe build protected shrines around trees?
>I think exploring towards sun village is good.
>Reproduce - get more men warriors and wimmin farmers.
>Capture live bunnies to breed: We have pits we can but the rabbits in, and they should be easy to carry in your hands.

Culture
>Also I think for archery and magic maybe we should separate the two? Like, men are warriors, but there's magic warriors and archer warriors.
>Sun tribe wanna trade?
>We need to sort out our magic. Plant a new tree every weekend?
>Make it a cultural practice! Young daughters and wives plant trees for the sake of their husbands' and father's success, and the tree spirits.
>Trade bows for fire knowledge!
>I say we add to culture that it is customary to lend out women during festivals. The children resulting from these could them be communally raised so dynastic problems are avoided.

Research
>Could invest some nice armour. Keeps the blood off our skin while keeping our own blood inside as much as possible.
>Learn some agriculture! (Kind of, maybe expand...)
>I definitely think we should invent solar ovens asap.
>Poison tipped arrows maybe?
>>
>>51353
This, anything else would just hinder the sun's rays
>>
>>51353
I was thinking more of a tower with a platform on top.
>>
>>51364
anything closer to the sun is better
>>
>>51357
If we do solr ovens we wont need fire! Still, we'd need a reflective surface.
>>
>>51364
Or one of those pyramids with a flat top
>>
>>51357
That's awesome, categorised and now we just need to pick what we want or more ideas. I'll add them to this list.
>>
>>51364
>>51359

after we make cages and get some animals what should be our goal?
If we get some animals that can be ridden we can make mounts. if we equip those mounts with warding totems we got some nice scouts.

More goals should obviously be raising our magic and make a temple for the sun.
In the end if we can't think of anything we can always ask the spirits for guidance, after all we serve the spirits.
>>
>>51391
Pyramids cast a hueg shadow though. I was also thinking about getting shamans to call on the Sun's power to melt sand and make glass. We can use it afterwards to make ovens, spear+arrowheads and more importantly, HARVEST TEH POWER OF TEH SUN more efficiently and the ability to direct it.
>>
>>51406
We haven't have new tech yet, so maybe we should commune with the sun for the knowledgge to make new tech, like glass >>51410

Yeah glass sounds like something we should invest in
>>
>>51422
Here.
>>
>>51428
so what do we do to kill time then?
>>
>>51442
We need to invent dice games or something.

I dunno what to do about the OP wait times though.

turn 8 end!

The Orange tribe began trading with the native bulky people for wooden bows and arrows, giving them their shoddy blades.

Young ones started eating a special flower that reduce pain for their ceremony, and the tribe as a whole took an interest in these plants and their uses.
>>
>>52012
AWWWW yiss,

research Agriculture, start to plant the same plants and berries.

The Tie Tribe, afraid the rat folk might carry plagues, decided to take some interest in medicine, and a doctor class has appeared.

For now, the doctors do more bad than good, but they are curious and aren't afraid to screw (people) up to learn more.

The Tree Tribe trades copper blades with the people with fancy women. They are useful for cutting and sharpening branches.

With these tools, they build basic pit pens. It seems the spirits don't mind the capture of large swines, and they have a family of them in the pens.

The sun tribe looked for resources to capture animals with, but couldn't find anything on their beach, so they used kelp again to make crab traps.

The shamans said the Sun told them to take apprentices at a young age. The Strategos isn't happy with the power the shamans claim with these "laws" that come to them after getting toasted all day.
