In the late seventies through the early nineties, drug violence in South America only continued to escalate. A successful revolution by the IRA in Ireland encouraged similar revolts in central Africa that devolved into decades-long civil wars, and resulted in a USSR faction in the Russian government. Human trafficking for both the organ and the sex trades exploded between south-east Asia and eastern Europe. In the face of such chaos, government run militaries and various agencies were too caught up in red tape to be effective. Frustrated with procedure causing a lack of results, the wealthier citizens of the world turned to someone who would not be weighed down by the bureaucratic process.

Now, in 2032, the private military industry is a widely accepted fact of life, a necessary evil for the security of the world. While some resent these men for what they represent, still more turn to them when government forces would fail.

You are Jan Kowalski, a Polish special forces operator turned private military contractor. In return for cash and other liquid currency, you, and men like you, go places national militaries refuse, and that local police forces avoid.

Last time on Contractor Quest: you got back from Athens, had a nightmare that anons ruined by metagaming, and did a lot of shopping in preparation for future missions and a date
>>
Well, there goes my dirty secret: I copy/paste the intro from archived threads. First post coming.
>>
You nearly decide to go see who’s drinking at the base.. But ultimately you can't muster the curiosity, or the ambition. Besides, it feels like your life has just been go, go, go lately. You’ll need to unwind, or you’re pretty sure nightmares like last night’s will be a common occurrence.

In the end, you just watch more movies until you and Casimir fall asleep on the couch.

Your brain seems to apologize for last night’s bullshit, and gives you quite the pleasant dream where Bridget and Kelly were actually curious sorority sisters, which you appreciate.

You wake in the morning, still on the couch in the clothes you fell asleep in. Your date with Bridget is at six, so you have plenty of time to kill before then. You just need to decide how to spend it.

>Go shopping (For what?)
>Head to base, fill your new safe
>See if someone’s available (Who?)

>>
>>390656
Well I feel like we have already done this, but do we need to shop for clothes
>>
>>390684
Picked some up. Also got Casimir some toys, some time killers for your recovery, and a gift for Bridget
>>
>>390688
Ah. Good. Well, I guess we could go to base and see if we can fuck with anyone.
>>
>>390695
IM with this guy
>>
In order to avoid a pitiful update where you drive to base and nothing else, what do you want to do at base, or who do you want to look for?
>>
>>390740
Ok good point
>Head to base, fill your new safe
Lets get everything we have bought in there. then once we are at the base go to the range see who is there, we need to get used to this new hand and see how it responds under "stress".
>>
>>390740
Just look for one of our squadmates
>>
You do need to fill your safe somewhat, and you’d like to see how well this hand works. Working the soreness from your shoulder as you rise, you change into fresh clothes and feed Casimir before leaving the house.

Arriving at the base, you leave your sling in the car. Hopefully, you won't be needing it. You make your way to your locker in the armory, and load up your weapons and preferred gear into a duffle before hoisting it over your shoulder, and drive to the range grounds, not far from the base proper.

You pull up in the asphalt parking lot, and walk to the tables before the ranges. Laying your weapons out before you, a brief glance around shows you the current roster of the shooting grounds: A hulking black man and a smaller tan man with a number of tattoos are at the rifle aisles, comparing targets. Devin Peshlakai is loading Saiga magazines at the entrance to kill house, presumably to run through it, and Solomon Hyun seems to have gotten an early start on the long distance range.

>Who would you like to join, and what weapon would you like to take?

>Solomon
>Devin
>The pair you have yet to meet

>Glorious fishgun

You load the AK up, already taking great care to avoid the weapon being able to be traceable back to you. Loaded with gloves, you stick the magazines in your bloodstained vest, and walk to the rifle aisles.

Leaving the weapon on it’s sling, you approach the pair. The smaller man is not tanned, but Hawaiian, and his tattoos encompass the entirety of his right shoulder and pectoral, continuing uninterrupted to his wrist.

You introduce yourself, and let the rifle lean against a nearby shooting bench.

“Nice to meet ya, Kowalski,” says the massive black man, loading rounds into a UMP magazine. “Samuel Ball, and this is Makuna Hekekia. Didn't think you’d be out and about so soon. Word is you got good and fucked up in Tibet or wherever,” he finishes, and you don't bother correcting him.

“Well, I wanted to try out the new hand,” you reply, twisting the metallic digits in various forms. “Would hate to find out they can't shoot for shit in the field.”

“A good plan,” the Hawaiian says in an excited voice. “Who’s dick’d ya hafta suck to get ‘em, anywhoo?”

“Oh, just had to sign my life away to a Greek tech company,” you return. “Not so bad, considering the alternative was just not having fingers.”

“Ya may say so now,” the tattooed man says picking up a bare-bones M4, and point it down range. “But we’ll see how the waves’re crashin’ after the storm.”

He puts on ear protection, and you and Ball take the hint.

You fire a couple magazines downrange, hitting your target just slightly worse than usual. The hand performs flawlessly, the fingers feel like you’ve had them all along, and the broken bones already beginning to heal. The real problem was your wounded shoulder, making it difficult to keep the barrel steady when shooting off-hand.

You pick up all ninety shell casings, wondering if you’ll ever even need to ditch this AK in some god forsaken hell-hole. Looking over, Samuel and Makuna are back to bullshitting around a table, Ball excitedly pantomiming some incredible tackle.

>Rejoin them (Choose a topic)
>Devin is stretching, about to enter the kill house. You have time to catch up to him, though
>Solomon is still sending slugs downrange. Join him.
>Shoot alone
>Leave

>Also, choose a firearm if you wish to change.
>>
>>390967
Egor would be better suited to the wide open space of the long-distance range, rather than the relatively stifling aisles of the midrange... Range.

Where you are now has distances from 15 to about 100 yards, the long distance goes from 200 to about 1500

Taking Egor over to chat with Solomon. Writing.
>>
You wave goodbye to the former NFL player and his Hawaiian companion, and they respond in kind. You replace the AK to it’s spot in the line up, and heft Egor onto your shoulder. You can practically feel the LMG shaking in anticipation.

You set up Egor at the table next to your Korean friend, and turn over to speak with him.

“This gonna bother you at all,” you ask of the marksman.

“Quite the opposite, actually,” he says while shaking his head. “I need to work on firing with distractions like that. Fire away.”

You work in tandem for a while, Solomon using the loud reports of Egor to mask his own firings. The constant bucking of the LMG makes your wounded shoulder quite sore, and your hand protests at the abuse as well.

You pause while reloading the belt, and speak with Solomon a while.

“So,” you begin, a mischievous grin spreading across your lips. Hyun rolls his eyes as he realizes where you’re going. “How’d the date with Clara go?”

He straightens up, and puffs his chest in a mock defiance of your prodding. “Quite well, I’ll have you know.” He drops the pretense of offense, and begins speaking quickly and excitedly. “She has her own two-thousand yard range at her house. Could you imagine! It was great. Went to a play, had some Chinese buffet, and did some shooting.”

You give Solomon a look, one that says ‘you know damn well I don't care about ranges or Chinese food’. He picks up your meaning, and gives you a friendly shove to your good shoulder.

“I told you, dude. She isn't like that. Which is fine, because I really aren't either.”

You shrug your shoulders, and go back to loading the PKM. If that’s what makes him happy, you aren't gonna ruin it.

Continuing with Solomon. Writing.
>>
You finish your reloading process, and you and Solomon continue the exercise, you working on shorter, more accurate bursts, and him trying to fit his shots in the more compact firings. It takes him a while to find the rhythm, but by the end of your belt, even you aren't sure when he’s firing, other than the steel targets downrange falling victim to his volleys.

As your shooting ends, you remove the ear protection, and speak to Solomon.

“Got anything line up in the future,” you ask of him.

“Leaving Tuesday to Morocco, probably be there a week or two. With ISIS blowing through Libya, the embassy wants a bit of extra beef. Open contract, so I’ll be with guys from all over,” he replies, and you nod. A few weeks would be quite the payday. And a bit of a vacation, assuming the fears were unfounded. “I suppose you’re off the books for a while,” he says, interrupting your thoughts.

“Yeah, for about a month,” you tell him, motioning to your wounds. “Even then, they’re gonna have me babysitting.”

He gives you an apologetic look, and the two of you bitch for a while about the various protocols the company puts on.

After another round of shooting, and your final belt from Egor, a thought occurs to you.

“Say,” you ask, turning back to Hyun, “no one’s been like, I dunno, shit talking my getting hit, have they?”

He shakes his head, and sets his rifle leaning against the bench. “Not that I’ve heard. Mostly just rumors about your hand, saying it can do all sorts of crazy shit and whatnot.”

You spend a while educating him on the abilities and limitations of your new fingers, and he drinks it all in with curious vigor.

Eventually, he excuses himself from the range, and leaves you be. Looking around, you are now alone in the vast, grass covered training area, wondering what to do next. A quick glance at your phone tells you it’s just shy of 1 pm.

You still have a little time before you need to get going, so you pack up the now-empty Egor, grab a handful of extra pistol magazines, and walk back over to the gallery range.

You fire a few magazines from each your g19 and your g26, making sure to fire with your augmented hand as well. The way your uncovered fingers extend themselves to wrap further around the pistol base is a little unnerving, to say the least, but you can't argue the effect it has on your accuracy.

After an hour of training, you load up your weapons, and return to the armory. Loading in your weapons, you look at the empty duffle, and realize you still have a safe to fill.

You load in the improved tactical outfit, and look into the locker, wondering what would be best to take back.

You decide to load up Egor, the burner AK, and the g36, leaving the XM8 and your MP5 on the locker for easy access on missions. Leaving your work locker sadly empty, you get to your car wondering what you should put into it next.

Making the drive home, and weathering strange looks from both Charlie and Casimir, lug the bag upstairs to load your safe up with the transferred weapons. It’s a little tight in there with the sheer size of Egor, but you get everything in.

You end up back downstairs, and take a seat on the couch, opposite of Charlie. Casimir comes to curl up on your lap, having missed you in your brief absence.

You make smalltalk with your roommate for about an hour, mostly centering around your new hand, until around four o’clock, you head back upstairs. Showering, shaving, and dressing, you slide the life-like rubber covering onto your cybernetics, and end up back downstairs after about an hour.
You explain to Charlie your plans for the evening, and get it into your car.

Plugging the address given to you by Bridget earlier in the week, you drive nearly across town to the fairly nice apartments she seems to live in. Buzzing the number she told you, you hear an excited squeak as she replies, telling you she’ll be right down.

After about a minute, you hear rushed footsteps down the stairs, and Bridget opens the door.

Her bright blue eyes look you up and down, almost sheepishly, as she shyly allows herself to be seen, which you are happy to oblige.

Her shoulder length brown hair in loose curls, and a fairly loose fitting red sundress draped over her figure, you’re suddenly glad you decided to reach out again.

You also suddenly realize you’ve been standing, silent and gaping, for about ten seconds.

>Greet Bridget!

“Wow,” you say, words finally being able to escape your lips. “You look incredible. Are you ready to go?”

“Yes!”, she beams, and nearly sprints to your car.

Your plan was to start with a visit to the zoo, and you make that your first stop.

Through smalltalk made on the way over, you learn her last name is Hayer, and make a mental note to put that into your phone before you forget it. She is also a second grade teacher at a school not far from where you picked her up from, and is slightly younger than you at twenty-four.

She asks about the sling, and you tell her the harrowing and not-at-all exaggerated tale of how you earned the wound pulling a downed Ty Mitchell from a cowardly ambush by extremists near a bridge, while already suffering from a mangled hand yourself. She is absolutely enamored by the tale, and you keep catching her try to steal glances at the aforementioned hand when she thinks you aren't looking.

You arrive at the zoo in due time, and spend about two hours roaming it’s walkways, no small amount of which was spent at the otter enclosure. Bridget seems to adore the little things. To be honest, their little paws and playful antics had them growing on you as well.

You stop at a concession stand near the end of your trip, and begin munching on the various fried and salty foods than can be found there.

Halfway through her corn dog, Bridget looks up to you.

“So, Jan,” she begins, seeming to be finding the right words. “What was it like growing up in Poland?”

>Actually, I spent most of my childhood in America
>No different than most people, I’d say. Just more perogies.

You give the young woman a toothy grin, and throw on your best Polish accent. You’d sell your mother for a decent tracksuit right now, but you can't always be prepared.

“Very cold,” you begin, gesturing grandly with both arms. “Bear filled mountains, as far as the eye could see! Me, my parents, six cousins, and all four grandparents lived in the tallest building in all of Poland, a four story, concrete apartment complex,” you say, Bridget already laughing so hard she’s snorting. You decide to press the advantage yet further. “My fondest memories are deep in the mountains, armed with only a pitchfork and a forest axe, slaying the great brown bears of my homeland, using their pelts to warm the passed-out drunkards that littered the streets.”

Laughing so hard she can barely breathe, Bridget nearly falls from her seat across from you. You decide to stop, before she ends up hurting herself.

Your makeshift meal finished, you leave the zoo, relenting to her wishes to stop by the otters one last time. The drive to the mini-golf course isn't long, and you make it in no time.

Renting two small clubs, you begin the contest. You shit talked most of the way over, and expected to wipe the floor with the poor girl. After her first shot, you thought the game was an absolute gimme.

Then, you took your first swing. It was atrocious. A true war crime to anyone that has ever enjoyed the game of mini golf.

You kept hoping your game would improve. It did not. Apart from one hole that you crushed, your performance was embarrassing. You blame it on your wounds, which you have yet to recover from, but deep inside, you know you’re just fucking terrible.

Shaking the loss from your mind, you bring Bridget back to your car, helping her in, all classy-like as she smugly smiles, after crushing you.

Getting into the driver’s seat, you have a brief chance to change the subject before your failure is the topic of the drive back to Bridget Hayer’s apartment. Thinking fast, you decide to ask her about herself.

“So,” you quickly begin before her boasting can begin anew. “What’s it like, working with kids that young?”

Her eyes light up at the question, your miserable failure forgotten for a moment. “Oh, it’s stressful, and those kiddos can be a handful, but I wouldn't trade it for the world,” she says, a wistful gaze crossing her face. “They learn so fast at that age, you know? I love knowing that I’m helping them get a good start on life, doing what I can to make them fall in love with learning before they hate it as they get older.”

You suppose that’s a good an answer as any, and drive the conversation further that way the rest of the drive.

Pulling up in front of her building, you pause shortly. Pulling the glass rose from it’s place in your center console, you hand it to her.

“For needing to reschedule so much,” you say, handing it to her.

“It’s beautiful, Jan,” she says in return, her eyes welling slightly.

You get out of the car to open her door for her, and walk her up to the building's entrance.

“Jan,” she says, placing her hands on your chest. “I had fun tonight, but I don't want you to think I’m some party girl, willing to sleep with anything that walks up to me. I don't do what...we did… Often. Ever, actually. I’m just not that type of woman.”

Well, they never are the morning after, are they?

“I’m glad. I had fun, too,” you tell her. She reaches up to plant a small kiss on your cheek before heading upstairs.

You get in your car, and get a call from Tiffany on the ride home.

“What’s up Murdock?”, you say, answering the phone.

“Well, good news. Soldier of Fortune finally called me. They want an interview and a photo shoot with the five of you guys. I bet they’re also going to ask about Nepal and your hand. You willing to partake?”

“I suppose I could make time for them,” you say, the excitement in your voice rising. “When did they want to do this?”

“They gave me a date about two weeks from now,” she says. Plenty of time, then.

The next two weeks fly by in a flurry of activity. Most of it rehab-oriented for your shoulder, but you manage to sneak in a few training sessions as well.

Gloves and ankle holster would run you 100 each, but you'd need a gun to put in the holster.

Unless you want to move the g26, which is currently in a compartment in the chest rig, which seems kinda... Pointless.
>>
>>392413
Buy another gun a P226 and put it in the ankle holster.
>>
>>392413
We could just pick up a glock or something overseas on our mission. I say to get ankle holster.
>>392420
Don't buy one, just loot one.
>>
>>392413
Solve the problem now if we get a fight and we lose every gun and the enemy is standing over us ready to strike. We'll pull out the P226 from our ankle holster and put him down.

>>392421
M8 that's a good idea, but I want one that new and not from a shitty value. We get the money back selling the shit we get. Let's not go jew with our money, buy the gun p226. The Ankle holster is our hidden weapon.
>>
>>392425
Well I wouldn't want to blow our load too early. We will need a lot of ordinance when we go to north korea.
>>
>>392430
M8 it's 600 bucks at most. Money we'll get back quick
>>
>>392430
North Korea contract has been taken, Anon. You aren't the only contractor in the world.

You'll probably end up in Best Korea at some point, but those kids are safe and sound, courtesy of some heroics by the fine gentlemen at First Strike.
>>
>>392430
Also we already have two glocks g26 and g19 let's get something different. It will still use the same ammon, until we go for the .45Acp p226
>>
>>392435
Ah fuck. That's right. Well I am kinda glad we don't have to go there now.

I'm gonna get some sleep, folks. Feel free to keep voting and suggesting until I get back, probably about noonish central time tomorrow. We'll see how the notoriously slow Thursdays treat us.

2. Fantasy civ thread Bulgar
3. Oldfag civ thread
4.Bulgar old civ thread (Over)
5. You
6. Crusader Quest
7. Also some others that are dead so far.
There are the ones I follow. The one I'm mostly in is 2 and 3 since you got to play factions.
I'm thinking about making a quest myself about a peasant during the crusade. So that something, just have to work some stuff out and I could start it.

People, do you really want to make Jan lug three knives and three pistols? He's not a videogame character, you know.
>>
>>392737
Yes
He needs the backs ups.
>>
>>392752
What makes you say that?
>>
>>392771
Well in the training simulation it got kinda hairy for a little bit.
>>
>>392870
Three pistols is still too much. Especially p226 in an ankle holster, it weights over 800 grams for god's sake. The mobility hit offsets any advantage we could get out of it.
>>
Alright, let's do this. Any pistol in the ankle holster must also fit the requirements for a holdout pistol.

That a good middle ground?

>>392899
Holdout class pistol. Ankle holsters kinda suck.

>A holdout pistol is required to be a holdout pistol

Thanks, I guess, but it doesn't explain much.
>>
>>392914
Ah, I finally found it in the previous thread.
P226 can't be a holdout, while both Glocks can.
>>
>>392915
What a hero. Well I like glocks so we can get one. Either buy it or wait till we find one. But all these weapons could be cumbersome.
>>

You're a faggot.

>>392917
We could move our Glock 26 to the ankle holster and put P226 in its place. Though I still think 3 pistols is excessive.

You're a fucking retard seriously, a P226 won't fit in an ankle holster, and a P226 is shit regardless.

>Glock 26, 9mm - 900 USD

Tiny fucking pistols.
>>
In order to be a holdout pistol, the barrel cannot be more than 3.5 inches, and the pistol cannot weigh more than 750g loaded with standard magazines.

Basically, can't be a whole lot bigger than the g26
>>
>>392950
You also want it to be really slim, the G26 is kind of the exception to this rule because of its mag capacity against its relative size, but being thin is the biggest factor in the gun printing on your clothes or not.

A H&K P7M13 is a fucking amazeballs carry piece, slim as hell and beautifully made, but they are becoming moon rocks now sadly.

>>392967

At the moment theres no need for another pistol or more knives, the P7 was just an example of what you want in a holdout piece.
>>
So, did we have anything agreed for a training list and for shopping? Seems like you guys are all over the place.
>>
>>392988
>Rifles
>Pistols
>SMGs
>LMGs

Is my vote for training, we've got all of them, and we regularly use all of them, so may as well keep pushing our skills with them.
>>
>Awesome combat knife - 200 USD
> Not really any better than your current knife, but way cooler.
> Seriously. It has this sweet sawback thing. It's fuckin' baller.

Not voting for this but just saying, sawbacks on flesh/clearing knives are a pain in the arse, they get caught on tendons and ribs all the time and effectively stop whatever you were doing with your knife and you're just stuck there.

Though we'll probably want to replace that Imp IFAK we used to patch ourselves up with, always handy to have more of those at hand.
>>
>>392988
Training I think the general census was that at least two in rifle, and I would like the other two in LMG.
As for the store, I think we wanted a pouch on our leg for another knife.
>>
>>392988
>>392994
We also wanted a red dot sight for Egor. Preferably with a magnifier.
>>
>>393009
Right. That too.

Alright. So, buying
>New gloves, 100USD
>Magnified Red dot for Egor, 800USD
Still in the air
>Ankle Holster, 100USD
>Holdout pistol to be decided
>Small combat knife, 100USD

And training hasn't really been decided On yet.

Options are 2 into rifles and 2 into LMGs, or 1 each into rifles, pistols, SMGs and LMGs.

Alright, this post is going to end at the beginning of the SoF interview. Since you guys chose 'full control', you'll be getting each question individually, and they'll be answered with write-ins, or I can give vague options if you guys want. That work?
>>
>>394614
Yeah. The answers will be mostly write ins.
>>
You spend a lot of time with Phil, who people keep calling ‘Sharkbait,’ for some reason. Hard to believe you never noticed that before.

Your skill in rifles raises noticeably, your groupings getting tighter, and your targets finding your sights quicker.

The same happens for Egor as you and Solomon work together on your firing in tandem. You imagine it will be different on moving targets, but for now, the training is nice, as is the socialization.

You also make two trips to the depot, once to pick up some gloves after you realized the ones that came with your suit were just as ruined as your hand was, and once almost immediately after to pick up some optics for Egor. The PKM thanks in it’s own, stoically silent way, in that your firings are more accurate, and fewer shots are wasted.

The day of your SoF interview arrives, and you reach the conference room at about 10:30, just as Jonas is leaving. You spare him a friendly wave, and walk inside.

The woman sitting at the head if the long, wooden table introduces herself as Veronica. Brief, simple questions are asked at first to set the mood for, and segue into the interview, before she gives you your first real question.

“So, Kowalski,” she begins, sliding her recorder closer to you. “It must have been once-in-a-lifetime feeling to win the Combatix tournament. Tell me, when was the first time you realized you had a chance of taking the whole thing?”

>Respond to Veronica

>When possible, I'll combine answers if a single one can't be agreed upon

Well, our team had went in thinking we just wanted to get some practice and meet some other companies, but it really hit us that we had a chance when we took down Clara. It was cemented when we took down Colt Williams. Funny enough, I didn't really taste victory when we took down that last team. We were tired and stressed, but we were gonna win, and we did.
>>
“Well,” you begin, remembering back to the tournament. “Our team had went in thinking we just wanted to get some practice and meet some other companies, but it really hit us that we had a chance when we took down Clara.” You say, remembering back to the stressful firefight that wounded Jonas, and ended in some action movie style improvisation. “It was cemented when we took down Colt Williams. Funny enough, I didn't really taste victory when we took down that last team. We were tired and stressed, but we were gonna win, and we did,” you say, nearing an end to your answer. “It didn't even really feel like we won until I put that last round into Dieter’s chest. Then it all kind of rushed in at once.”

She nods, smiling. That seems to have been a strong answer, the type she was looking for.

She makes a few notes while you wait a moment in silence before she begins again.

“So, Jan, if I can call you that,” she says as she finishes up her writing. “Was there any point you thought you might get eliminated? What was the hardest part of your time in the arena?”

“Well,” you begin in response, “I think the worst thing was the lack of a sleep schedule and the MRE meals we had to eat. I also felt pretty bad about shooting Dieter. He was a good sport about it, though.”

“Although,” you say, thinking if there was ever a time you thoufht defeat was near. “Any time we spent in the Business area, you always had to be keyed up and there was never a spot to take a breather. It wasn't until we got to the residential sections that I realized how stressed I was. Combatix did an amazing job with their simulation.”

The questions continue in that vein for a while, and eventually drift to Nepal and the wounds you took there.

After about an hour, she thanks you for your time, and you run into Arne as you leave. The big Swede is rarely one for pleasantries, but you give each other slight greetings before moving on.

The next week seems to drag by, with little to do other than shoot, watch a few movies, and play with Casimir.

You do, however, get a text.

Paxton would like a team of operatives on board his yacht for security in the event that mechanical failure, inclement weather, or other misfortune forces them ashore.
>NOTE: In the event contact is made, combat is likely to be chaotic and extremely dangerous. Due to the remoteness of the islands, support is unlikely to arrive for several days.

You text Skyler telling him you’re in, and return to wallowing in your boredom. Your shoulder has full range of motion again, so you’re pretty upset you still have to wait.

The second day before the appointment to clear you for action, you wake up to yet another text

>From: Tiffany Murdock
>Hey, McDaniel wants see you in his office. Didn't really sound like a request. Wouldn't tell me why.

You sigh in exasperation. You don't want to be told you have to wait longer, but the owner gets what the owner wants.

You get ready for the day, making sure to look at least half presentable, and drive over to base.

You make your way through the HR wing, to the end, where you see McDaniel’s office. Knocking and entering, he shuts a laptop on his desk as he greets you. To his credit, his office isn't that much bigger than Tiffany’s, so he seems pretty down-to-earth.

“Kowalski,” he says gruffly as you take a seat across from him. “How’re you healing up? Robinson tells me you took quite a beating in Nepal.”

“I did, sir,” you reply to the mustachioed man, knowing his piercing green eyes would shred any lie. “I feel like I could get on a plane today if you’d let me, sir.”

“Yes, I imagine you do think so,” he says in return. “That’s what I’d like to speak to you about. Due to the… Unique nature of your wounds and recovery, I’d like you to spar a few rounds with Kristoff, make sure your hand can stand up to the stress. Before your appointment with Robinson, please.”

He brusquely opens the computer back up, making it clear the conversation is over.

You stand to leave, walking out the door. He wants you to go a few rounds with the bases resident hand-to-hand teacher, a former UFC heavyweight champion. Even not coming off crippling injuries, you’ve been avoiding the man like the plague.

You know damn well that however nicely it was worded, you were given an order. You swing by your locker in the armory, and change into clothing more appropriate for sparring.

You enter the gym, and find Kristoff Wittman waiting for you. Jesus, you forgot how terrifying the man was. A full three inches taller and thirty pounds heavier than you, you knew this was going to be an ordeal. Most likely, a painful one.

He comes up, slapping you on your good shoulder. “McDaniel said he wanted me to see how you did in the ring. Come on, let’s get you suited up.”

“Suited up,” you ask the man. “What do you mean?”

“The old man wanted us to use some of the toys Combatix sent over for you guys winning the tournament.”

He leads you off to the training room, and you see the familiar wetsuit lookalike laying on a bench, a pair of strange goggles laying on top, along with three of the simulation melee weapons.

Rolled 5 (1d100)

You don the suit, and pick up a machete from the bench, the new goggles in your other hand. Wittman comes around the corner, also carrying a machete, with his goggles on.

“Augmented reality,” he says, pointing to them. “Gotta check them out, man.”

You slip the goggles over your eyes, and Kristoff is no longer wearing the slick black suit, but instead a full combat load, sans weapons. You assume the same for yourself.

You climb into the ring in the corner of the gym, and prepare yourself for the mock battle.

A few warm up swings of the machete, and a handful of stretches, and you give Kristoff the motion that you’re ready to start. He nearly immediately charges, his weapon held high, hoping to end the fight with size and ferocity.

You take a short step back, and feint a dodge to the right, which Kristoff bites hard onto. Dropping to a knee, you score a gash across his right thigh before popping back up to your feet to face the man.

It isn't much, but there’s a flash of slightly pixelated blood as the AR headset does it’s work, and the suit gives Wittman a slight limp in reaction to the largely superficial wound.

Kristoff, for his part, seems to have learned his lesson, and is now in a defensive posture, waiting for you to make a move.

He swings too slow, however, and the attack is easily ducked. With Kristoff so out of position, it is a simple matter to drive the machete into his throat. It’s a glancing blow, but the suit seems to think it’s enough, and a crimson torrent comes out the fresh wound in his neck.

Well alright. Three and a half is enough. Looks like we want to clean our gear then time skip to load out. That about right?
>>
>>396146
Let's also purchase some nonlethal subdual options. Slaughtering natives can put us in hot water.
>>
>>396146
Zip ties?
>>
Zip ties you can snag from maintenance, and you can pick up a tazer and some CS gas from the CSD if you'd like. Not sure about prices, though, off the top of my head
>>
>>396158
I'd prefer tear gas. And a lot of it.
Zip ties require us first to subdue people.

Maybe a shotgun/pistol with rubber bullets as well.
>>
>>396158
We can check, but just shooting a few rounds in the air could scare them off
>>
>>396162
we've already got pistols that can take rubber/less lethal rounds, it just requires changing rounds, so maybe a spare mag we keep separate for if we need less lethal in our AR/pistol.

a shotgun with some less lethal munitions might be worthwhile, but its very much a over-specialized thing, but you could take slugs and buckshot mainly and have some tazer/rubber slugs if need be, though you gotta be very away of the limitations of the weapon
>>
>>396166
They're uncontacted, they probably don't know what guns are. They might get scared by the noise, but they also might not.
>>
So to summarize, I propose to buy the following:

- Less-than-lethal rounds - two magazines for each of our handguns.
- Tear gas grenades x 8
- Some nonlethal melee option, like a police baton or a telescopic club
- No zip ties - we're unlikely to need to hold someone prisoner, and any boat has plenty of rope anyway.
>>
A pump shotgun would run you 900 USD and can take less lethal and standard shells alike, all of which are provided free of charge by the company
>>
>>396205
I'm a bit unwilling to splurge up on a shotgun if we can just change ammo in our pistols.
>>
>>396201
>two magazines for each of our handguns.
we'd only need one for our G19, our G26 is our 'oh shit I really need to kill someone' gun

>>396205
hmm, I wonder, would a masterkey-like system be available for purchase to slap onto our spess fish gun?
>>
>>396205
Will the yacht act as a homebase, allowing us to bring more equipment than we can normally bring into a firefight if we need more grenades or ammo?
>>
>>396214
it would certainly make swapping loadouts easier and quicker
>>
>>396214
I suppose it will. But let's keep our stuff in a single bag we can quickly grab if the yacht starts to sink.
>>
>>396214
You definitely may. It'll have places for you to store any number of weapons and supplies
>>
>>396225
I want to bring plenty of ammo for Egor.
Those natives won't show us any mercy, so we shouldn't hesitate to mow them down.
>>
>>396240
Sure. Lets just wipe out an entire tribe that has been uninterrupted for thousands of years. I can condone killing one or two, but I see no reason to kill 10 or 20 or 30 of them.
>>
You remember your combat vest is stained in blood from your shoulder wound, and from incidental contact with your mangled hand. While it made a badass shot for your picture in Soldier of Fortune, it’s hardly professional, and you decide to do your best to wash it clean.

You flag down a passing janitor on your way to the armory, and he lets you into a storage closet, where you leave with a variety of cleaning solutions and detergents.

After the better part of an hour, your vest is as clean as it’s getting. There’s still some discoloration, but it is no longer glaringly obvious that it was once nearly literally soaked in blood.

Satisfied with your work, you head home to spend the next three days getting ready to get back in action. Mostly, runs with Casimir and various exercises.

You also make trip over to the depot to grab a handful of tear gas grenades, and when you go up to pay, the man waves you off, saying something about “not charging you for doing your best not to kill anyone”, so that was nice.

You wake the morning you’re supposed to fly out, and make a mental inventory of what equipment is where, and what you want to bring with you.

>As usual, only listed items will be brought, and nothing will be retconned in. Ammo will be assumed with all weapons. Non lethal 9mm and 5.56 NATO also assumed.
>>
>>396242
They're going to be coming at us with the full intention of killing everyone.
They've done it to everyone who came to their island, including defenseless fishermen who were shipwrecked.
When they attack, they'll get no mercy from me.

>>396252
This'll get us booted from Impact! faster than you can say "PR disaster". And after that we'll probably end up serving a life sentence.

It IS Sumatra, in Southeast Asia, in one of the most important shipping areas.

Make sure he doesn't. If we have a strap, we could hold on to him. We can't keep him sheltered. I don't think he would like that. We could fasten some flotation device just in case.

You spend a long time staring at your safe, trying to decide if you’re willing to risk Egor on the open seas.

Eventually, Egor’s puppy eyes convince you that a life lived sheltered is a life lived in waste, and pack him up, as well as sliding the g19 onto your belt, under your shirt.

You snag some magazines of less-lethal ammo at the armory, as well as a gas mask and a few spare filters, before loading up the XM8 and your MP5, as well as various attachments. You slide the g26 into the compartment behind your armor plate, and shove a truly righteous amount of equipment and firepower into a single duffel bag. You’re afraid, for a moment, that the bag is about to tear at the seams, but it holds fast. Satisfied, you drive out to the airfield.

Skyler and Tiffany notice your approach, and he gives her a small kiss and a deep hug before boarding the plane, giving you a small wave.

You walk up to Tiffany, and perform the strange ritual of trading your car keys for her dossier, and she asks you the question you’ve come to expect.

“All the info’s on there, but if you have any questions, you should ask them now.”

>Any questions for Tiffany regarding the mission, the client, or your teammates?

“Any reports of pirates in the area,” you ask of the purple-headed woman.

“Not that far south,” she answers. “They mostly prey further north, and on the other side of that little section of islands. It’s possible, of course, especially if you guys are staying in one place.”

“How about the natives? Just how hostile are they? Are they really cannibals?”

“Well,” she says, giving you a shrug, “being uncontacted, they don't know much. They do tend to at least try to kill anyone that comes near, though. Reports of cannibalism are unfounded, but not disproven.”

“What can you tell me about our sniper, Poole?”

She rolls her eyes. “Andrea fucking Poole. Always a bitch. At least to me. Women can be like that, though. Maybe she’ll be different with you. She’s a fucking whiz past about three hundred yards, though. Pretty mediocre before that, though.”

“I know I should have checked this out earlier, but what about weather for the area? Any storm season we’re in?”

“Monsoon season isn't for another few months,” she says, being an odd wealth of knowledge. She seems to be taking this job seriously. Or maybe she just read up since Skyler is going. “Always a chance of rogue storms or earthquake-caused tsunamis, though.”

“Any repercussions for killing any natives that give us a hard time?”

“As long as they pose an active threat, no. Nothing from us, anyway.”

“Mmhmm,” you say, scratching your chin in mock thought. “And if I kill ALL the natives?”

She rolls her eyes and sighs. “Again, as long as they’re actively attacking, nothing from Impact! or the legal world. A few humanitarian organizations might be upset though, and that’s far worse than it sounds.”

You thank her for her answers, and climb aboard the plane. As you’re stowing your gear away, you see your teammates on the mission. Skyler and Devin Peshlakai sit talking across from one another, and the diminutive woman you know to be Andrea Poole is reading a newspaper in her seat.

“Glad you decided to come,” Skyler says. “This is gonna beat the shit out of standing around with a tux and a handgun at some awards ceremony, huh?”

“Oh, easy,” you answer. You can't imagine another ordeal like the state dinners Impact! made you attend.

“I’m just excited to do some fishing on someone else’s dime,” Devin says. His eyes have lit up at the prospect.

“And a yacht bigger than my house,” Skyler replies. “That thing’s gonna be fucking sweet.”

Devin answers next, with none of the enthusiasm for image. “My saiga, an m4, my p226, and my knives. You?”

“A mess of shit,” you reply. “Couldn't decide, so I just brought most of it.”

You give a small wave before rising from your seat to sit with the lone sniper.

“Poole, right?”, you say, sitting across from her.

“I am,” she says, putting the newspaper. “You’re Jan, right? Sat with Miller a couple weeks ago. I remember you. First mission back?”

“It is, and I hope it’s as relaxing as it sounds.”

“They never are,” she says simply before bringing the newspaper back up between the two of you, apparently in an effort to end the conversation.

You sit awkwardly in silence for a few moments before it becomes apparent she isn't going to say anything else. You stand from your seat and consider saying goodbye before thinking better of it.

You wander back over to where Skyler and Devin are seated. Skyker is barely stifling a laugh, and even the scarred native man is smirking at your expense.

“How’d that go for you, Casanova,” Skyler asks once he’s caught his breath.

“Oh, fuck you,” is the best reply you can muster, which gains another guffaw from the former Ranger.

“So,” Devin says, seeming to want to change the subject, “let’s see the hand.”

You spend the next while showing off the cybernetics, and even go so far as to take the ceramic plating off to show the almost sickening range of motion. The two are absolutely infatuated with the prosthetic fingers.

You pass the next several hours chatting idly with the other two contractors, and about halfway through the flight, a deck of cards comes out, playing various different games as you try to kill the time.

Eventually, the pilot announces you’re about to land. Looking out the window, you see the plane descending over a small stretch of island with little but a tower, a runway, and a helipad with a small chopper on it.

Skyler hurriedly picks up the card game, and you glare at him.

“I was about to win, you know,” you say in mock anger.

“Oh please. We had been stalemated for an hour. Coulda gone either way.”

You leave it be at that, and gather your things to depart the plane.

The chopper pilot says little as he climbs aboard his craft, motioning for the rest of you to follow. The short ride to the yacht is uncomfortably cramped, and you’re grateful to be out of it and onto the massive boat.

Paxton himself greets you at the end of the helipad as the pilot does his various checks.

“Welcome to the Wyvern,” the mid-forties billionaire says enthusiastically, making a sweeping gesture with both arms. “Let me show you around!”

The tour of the massive ship takes nearly two hours, starting with you dropping your equipment off in your rooms, and progressing through the boat, ending at the wet dock, complete with a large speed boat and three jet-skis. Skyler is staring in slack jawed wonder for nearly the whole tour.

Hayden Paxton brings you to the bar, and offers you seats as he introduces you to his friends and his teenage son, Zachary. Zachary gives you the creeps.

“So,” Hayden nearly shouts as he walks behind the bar, a massive window facing the deck behind him. “What’ll you folks be drinking this evening?”

Skyler asks for a bourbon, Poole motions towards the beer cooler, and Devin politely declines.

“I can do a whiskey on the rocks, but let’s keep it at one.”

Paxton pours your drink, and you start on it. He looks at Devin, as if to see if he’s sure. Devin motions that he is, and Paxton drops it at that.

You spend the next few hours basking in the sun by the pool, and watching the fishermen pull in their various catches. Your head starts swimming as you get further into the drink. You aren't terribly surprised that the billionaire with the 100-foot, three story yacht has the good liquor.

It’s beginning to get hot, even as the sun sets, when Paxton walks up to you, sitting on the edge of the pool.

“Feel free to head to your room whenever. We aren't likely to need your, ah, services. We’ll have plenty of warning if we do.”

“Nah, I’m sure we’ll be setting up some sort of watch cycle. We were hired for a reason, after all. We’ll make sure you get your money’s worth.”

“Oh,” he says with a smile that is almost a little predatory, “I’m sure I will. Have a good night, Kowalski.”

You watch him go, unnerved. Shaking the thoughts from your head, you round up your three team members, and meet with them at the yacht’s bow.

“What are we doing for a watch cycle,” you begin, looking around. Skyler is swaying where he stands, and Poole is smiling contentedly. It’s strange, seeing her like that. Between those two, and the way your head is feeling, Devin is easily the soberest of the bunch, and he looks exhausted from fishing in the sun the last few hours.

He also looks to the other two, and back to you. “Well, those two have something to sleep off. Should probably be one of us on first duty. Do you want it, or am I taking it?”

>My head’s been swimming, too. Go for it.

“I can take it,” you say, taking pity on the man. “But while we’re alone, does Paxton give you guys the creeps?”

“He doesn't,” Poole pipes in, “but that fucking kid does. Always watching. Not even horny, like a normal whatever teen guy. More… Hungry. Gives me the fucking willies,” she says with a shudder.

“Yeah,” Devin says, thinking back. “The guys fishing were laughing at the weirdest shit. At the time, I just assumed it was some inside joke. Now, though…”

The three of you loon to Skyler, who is too far gone to really even formulate a sentence. You try to remember how much he even drank. Couldn't have been more than three or four, and he still seems to be getting drunker.

“Well,” you say, “keep a gun on you. And one of you guys should stay with him tonight.”

They nod, and you go your separate ways. You spend a few hours making laps around the deck, before walking up to the wheel house. You open a few windows to get the air circulating. As you open the last one, you feel a deep prick on your right shoulder.

You spin around, hand already on your pistol under your shirt. Standing there is one of the billionaire buddies of Paxton, holding a needle, and wearing the biggest shit eating grin you’ve ever seen. You’re already starting to feel sluggish, your head and arms heavy.

You pull your gun out of it’s holster through sheer muscle memory, but as you raise the firearm, whatever was in the syringe over takes you, and you drop to your knees, the pistol emptying into the floor with dull thuds as your senses fade.

The last thing you see before the darkness envelops you is the wolfish grin of the man before you.
You awaken with the worst headache you’ve ever had. The bugs around you are nearly as thick as the wet, heavy air.

You raise your head, squinting from the dull light, and observe your surroundings. The three teammates are all here, tied to wooden chairs. Attempting to move, you discover you are as well. Your equipment, minus firearms, ammunition, and lethal grenades, is neatly laid out on a wooden table before you, above which is mounted a large television with several wires running up through the ceiling. It seems you’re the last one to wake. Devin looks rough, a black eye, split and cracked lips, and a number of cuts and bruises on his knuckles.

“They pumped gas into the rooms after they took you down,” he says in response to your questioning looks. The words are hard to understand, nearly like they’re being spoken underwater. “I woke up to the gunshots, and got out before it got me. They must have put something in the drinks. Made them work for me, though,” he says, giving a look that is a strange mixture of pride and shame.

You hear footsteps behind you, and a young black man steps out from behind you, turning on the television. Paxton is there, waiting.

“Glad you could join us, Jan,” he says, clearly enjoying the situation you’re in. “Your friends have been awake for a while. You may notice I wasn't entirely honest with you.”

“No shit, you fucking-” is as far as Skyler gets before he is cut off.

“Now, Mr. Thompson, there is no need for that kind of language,” Paxton says, standing to walk somewhere off camera. He returns with a very expensive looking compound bow. “You’ll have a chance to put voice to your concerns, I assure you.”

Skyler gives a derisive snort, which Paxton ignores.

“Twenty four hours after this transmission ends, the eight of us will leave the ship for the jungle, and the hunt begins. We’re all very excited,” he says, nearly shaking with anticipation. “We hope you’ll be much more challenging than the odd prostitute or homeless person we’ve been going after. Good luck, and watch out for the natives,” he shouts, before the screen cuts black.

The young black man steps forward from his place near the screen, before stepping back as the feed comes back on.

“Oh, and please don't hurt Jimbe,” Paxton says as he reappears on the screen. “He is just as unwilling as you are in all this,” he says before the feed cuts again.

The young man, who you assume is Jimbe, waits a moment for the screen to turn back on. When it doesn't, he produces a small razor and cuts your bindings.

You stand, rubbing the soreness from your wrists, and walk over to your equipment. Your hands shoot straight to the holdout compartment, and find comfort in the weight of your g26 and it’s spare magazine.

Twenty one rounds. Two knives. That’s what you get to defend yourself with.

Seems no one else is so lucky.

Looking on the wall that was behind you during your brief imprisonment, there is a map of the island you’re on.

You’re on the east corner of the island, about thirty miles long and ten miles wide. The native territory has been marked as the western half as the island, and there is a lone mountain peak in the center. The rest seems to be either thick jungle, or a sandy beach.

“Our best bet is the mountain,” Skyler says. “Far more defensible, and better sight lines than the jungle.”

“It’s also the first place they’ll look,” Devin says, holding his massive knife in his hand.

The two of them look to you and Poole, and Poole also looks to you. Looks like this is your tie to break.

>Plan of action?
>>
>>399043
Alright Guys. Here's the plan. I have my pistol and 21 rounds. Luckily I am a good shot. They are expecting us to hide and strike when they get close enough, like a rat in a corner. We aren't going to do that. What we are going to do is hit them as soon as they get on the island. We have to assume they will land by boat, so we will have to keep a lookout. We will stalk them as they come into the jungle and hit them when the time comes. In the meantime, we will sharpen sticks, collect rocks, and get ready for them to come. Also, after we kill these fucks, I call dibs on his Yacht.
>>
>>399043
We have some options Poole doesn't have a sniper so she be no use in the mountain. In the jungle we can hide out and be monkeys in the trees.
We could start in the jungle then after a day or two make our way to the mountain after they cleared it and hide out there.
>>399053
Just this no point in hiding we can hide since we be following them. Also we can strike at them at night. Or we can try to take the boat back to the yatcht when they come on land. We sneak and take the boat out of there.
>>
>>399067
Right. It could be practice for us in Guerrilla warfare.
>>
>>399034
>Jimbe
Is this guy friendly
>>
I'm crashing hard, guys. I'm gonna get some sleep, and we'll start again sometime tomorrow morning.

Thanks for playing, and I always like to see questions and comments
>>
>>399149
He's just kinda standing there. Hasn't said anything, just turned on the TV, then cut you loose. You're not sure.

You could try talking to him, though
>>
>>399159
I'll have to do that tomorrow then.
>>
>>399154
no problem, i must want Jan to get Ego and the fishgun back asap, which i assume are stilo back in the boat.
Then
>Waste those motherfuckers with Egor
>>
>>399318
So steal their boat, go back to the ship, get guns, and return?
>>
>>399043
If we go directly for the mountain we will have no ground to fall back into. I say we start in the jungle... speak to Jimbe, try to show we are friendly.

Now guys I know this may be a little crazy....but what if we bait the natives to the hunters and us the chaos to escape.
>>
>>399175
>>399361
Yeah, we need to know where Jimbe stands in all of this.

When we kill these fucks, do we make things personal? Because while it's easy to just shoot them in the face, we've got knives and lots of time.
>>
>>399477
Oh, right. This guy is a multi-billionaire and a bunch of his rich friends.

We can't just kill them.

We need to maim them, and then torture them to transfer their money into a number of Cayman and Swiss accounts.
It's not just a couple hundred thousand we're talking about here. It's literal billions of dollars.
>>
>>399486
I don't know how the Handler will want to handle this. I know he wouldn't give us Billions of dollars.
>>
>>399491
Obviously the problem is we can't just use the money right away.

I mean, how do we explain to Impact! and the world why we survived and our client and all his friends are missing?
Without a recording of what Paxton just said, no one would believe us.
Any video confession we take would be torn apart by a good prosecutor pointing out that we'd obviously tortured Paxton into giving a false confession.

If we suddenly starting flashing around money after an apparently failed mission, we'd be suspects in a murder case.
Even if we didn't, there'd probably still be an investigation.

So any money we did get, would have to be hidden very well, and we wouldn't be able to touch it for at least a good 20 years.
So I think it'd be fine as a part of a "good end" as long as we actually survive.
>>
first thing we do after we get back from mutilating and murdering these pompous cunts is buy a holdout satphone
>>
>>399496
>no one would believe us.
sure they would, they'd only need to take a cursory forensic glance at the yacht to see the spiked drinks and drugs they used on us

seriously, explaining away our actions isn't going to be the hard part of this
>>
I'm imagining a random scene where Egor is stuck on the yacht and senses that comrade Jan is in trouble so hatches a daring plan to rescue best glorious comrade Jan, he'd probably get one of the rich bastards to carry him to us, before jamming up, then slam firing a round when the baddie opens the top cover to clear him, lots of shrapnel to the face when that happens.
>>
>>399504
Or he gets all the other guns to deploy a mutiny on the ship.
>>399496
How about we keep them alive, but we get the yacht out of it. Kind of like a bribe to keep quiet.
>>
>>399511
Fuck that, we are not cutting a deal to let these cunts live. They do not leave this island alive.
>>
>>399511
No, they all die. One way or another.

>>399499
>they'd only need to take a cursory forensic glance at the yacht to see the spiked drinks and drugs they used on us
Which a prosecutor could say were planted by us, or used by us on Paxton and his friends.
>>
>>399516
>>399512
How do we explain it then?
>>
>>399516
We kill them and then get the PMC to bill any grieving family for the original price.

Legal and adds insult to injury in a satisfying way.
>>
>>399511
>Or he gets all the other guns to deploy a mutiny on the ship.
>Comrade Egor and Oberst Fishgun fighting together to rescue their owners.

>How about we keep them alive, but we get the yacht out of it. Kind of like a bribe to keep quiet.
Not happening.

>>399516
>Which a prosecutor could say were planted by us, or used by us on Paxton and his friends.
Mate, we're in unclaimed territory, maritime law reigns supreme here, and no lawyer on the seas would be able to win this case against us.
>>
>>399526
>>399525
I just don't see us killing a Billionaire and getting away with it.
>>
>>399531
I don't see him fucking with a Private military company and getting away with it.
>>
>>399534
But who would say that we didn't kill the billionaire for no reason?
>>
>>399544
Anyone with at least half a brain. Why the fuck would we kill out meal ticket for no reason?
>>
>>399548
Maybe we got bribed by a special interest. A rival company.
>>
>>399551
Unlikely, and considering what a shitbag this guy is, why are you actually stupid enough to let him live and get back to civilization?

Worst case scenario we can say natives got them, we fucked up so sorry.
>>
>>399558
I don't think he should live, but if he dies, our career is over.
>>
>>399567
Bullshit. Theres no law here, we can defend ourselves from our customer and let the company deal with the legal end if for some fucking reason we don't have the MOUNTAIN of proof that this sort of thing would create.

Now stop being a pussy. We're not cutting a deal and he isn't leaving the island.
>>
>>399576
I'm not cutting a deal, I am worried about the fallout. Sure we can say that he wanted to go to the island and got killed. That would be sound. What's next?
>>
Lack of sleep really is muddling my brain.

We can't take any of the money.
Anyone that looks at the accounts of these scumbags will see a large transfer of their assets to somewhere else at around the time that they died. Since we were the last people with them, we'd be natural suspects in their murders.
And we can't get the money afterwards because being dead, their assets will get frozen as their companies/families scramble to get a part of their money.

Even the yacht will go to Paxton's estate rather than us.

And we'll still come out of this with a black mark on our career for failing a bodyguard mission.

We could say that Paxton brought us in to kill us in a The Most Dangerous Game type of spectacle, but all we've got are our stories and some roofies. What other proof do we have?
>>
>>399583
I'd rather take the black mark than be convicted of murder.
>>
>>399579
Every other one of his little crew dies as well, painfully if its convenient to do so.

Honestly, this is a world dominated by mercenaries. It's probably common practice to crush anyone who tries to fuck over any PMC.

Ever head "Hammers Slammers"? Its a sci fi universe where war is dominated by mercenary companies. If a customer tries to screw a contractor, or vice-versa than the banking cartels and other mercenaries tear the offender a new asshole. Its the only way to ensure fair play.
>>
>>399531
Maritime law, as well as international law, and UN Contractor legislation (even in the present day) is entirely supportive of our case in this regard.

So yes, we can kill him and get away with it, we're entirely justified.
>>
>>399567
>but if he dies, our career is over.
Holy shit how many times does it need to be spelled out this is blatantly not the case and is false.
>>
>>399583
>And we'll still come out of this with a black mark on our career for failing a bodyguard mission.

No we won't, when the client puts out a false contract under criminal pretenses, all contractual obligations are null and void, the contract no longer stands, and the contracted party is entirely within their right to sue and seek compensation.

Seriously I've had to deal with this bullshit in real life, we have all the legs to stand on in the world, Paxton has none.
>>
I wouldn't trap you guys like that, don't worry.

There will be ways to prove your innocence when this is wrapped up, assuming you survive
>>
>>399043
FIrst, is the ammo we have lethat or non-lethal?

>>399053
Second, the fuckers left us the nonlethal grenades, so they might be expecting a counterattack. They probably don't expect a pistol though.
Still, I'm all for hitting them right away.

>>399583
As for how to get away with the justified murder, I propose we leave the yacht adrift in the ocean, take the speedboat to the shore and fabricate a story about people on the yacht sexually harassing Poole which caused us to terminate the contract. What happened to them after that will be in the lists of unsolved mysteries on the Internet.
>>
>>399709
>FIrst, is the ammo we have lethat or non-lethal?
For our G26? Most likely lethal as thats what its there for, the G19 was the one we wanted the less lethal option for.
>>
>>399053
>In the meantime, we will sharpen sticks, collect rocks, and get ready for them to come.
We can set a whole bunch of deadblow traps pretty easily
>>
>>399709
g26 ammo is lethal.

If they meant to leave you a gun, they probably would have left you all guns, so they likely won't be expecting it.

What to do after the ordeal can be decided when it's done
>>
>>399713
Ok, so

>Plan of action: enlist Jimbe to help us.

Yay :^)
I love my glock brand glock.
>>
>>399709
>As for how to get away with the justified murder, I propose we leave the yacht adrift in the ocean
If we've got enough proof to show that the contract was made in bad faith, then that's all we need.
In fact, trying to make the killings look like something other than what they were would probably hurt our case when the investigators start their work.
Considering that there are likely hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and insurance policies locked up in the contract and in their deaths, as well as billions of dollars in the estate of Paxton, it'll probably be a very thorough investigation.
>>
>>399734
>In fact, trying to make the killings look like something other than what they were would probably hurt our case when the investigators start their work.
exactly, this is clear cut premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder, self defense is the only legal defense we need

>>
>>399736
We just need to make sure that the evidence is safe and we can show that it hasn't been tampered with.

Or Paxton wasn't smart enough to leave no trails/boobytrap the evidence and put it on a deadman switch.

Testimonies from the people that killed their client is going to be hard to swallow for the investigators if there's no hard evidence backing us up.
>>
>>399742
>Or Paxton wasn't smart enough to leave no trails/boobytrap the evidence and put it on a deadman switch.
I'm guessing that he's let his psychopathy get to his head, considering how he and his son were acting, they're so cocky that they don't think they need insurance in the event we survive
>>
>>399745
Yeah, I want to hope that they've got photos of past hunts/videos of them bragging about who they've killed/trophies of past victims back in their rooms on the yacht.
But we shouldn't get complacent and end up accidentally destroying evidence that would help our case and make the investigation smoother and end faster.

Like if Jimbe really is here against his will, and we can show that he wasn't a member of the yacht's crew and therefore must have been kidnapped (because he's not a member of the native tribe), then he can provide testimony backing us up.
So we have to work to keep him alive; depending on what he brings to the table, we'd have to balance hiding him away and having him help us hunt Paxton's crew.
>>
Draw them in, and sick the natives on them. Jimbe likely is one. Tell him or try to communicate. If they kill those men, your tribes will be left alone. We are the bait, natives kill with our assist.

We leave
>>
>>399789
this is not likely the first time Paxton has tried this, the natives are most likely not going to be on our side
>>
>>399789
Jimbe is black, and we are in SE Asia, so it's unlikely he's a native.
>>
>>399789

>>400043
I kinda figured it. Oh well, we'll figure something out
>>
“Neither,” you say to a collection of confused faces. “We find where they’re landing, and we’ll hit them there.”

“That should work,” Devin says. “They won't be expecting that kind of aggressive action. Problem is, we have no idea where they’ll be landing. And, I doubt we’ll get them all at once. I didn't see anything big enough to get them all here.”

“Well, we have a full day to find the yacht,” you say, “and we can follow the boat from there.”

“It’s a plan,” Poole says, and then motions at Jimbe. “What about him?”

You shrug, and walk over to the young man. “Can you understand me,” you ask him. He remains silent, but nods. “Can you help us, when this is over? We’ll need people to help us tell the truth.”

He nods, excitedly, still saying nothing. You doubt he’s going to start any time soon.

“Let’s get going, then,” Skyler says, putting his tomahawk back into his belt.

It takes a few hours of walking the coast, staying several yards into the jungle to avoid sight, but eventually you find the yacht, drifting about a mile out to sea. You can see several people, walking around the decks, throwing buckets of something into the water below.

>What would you like to do? You’ve got about 21 hours left before they go into the island
>>
>>400068
They probably have a place where they usually disembark. Let's ask Jimbe to show it to us.
>>
>>400068
In the time we are waiting, have someone find some coconuts or food, and have the rest make spears.
>>
Alright, who's going for food, and who's staying?
>>
>>400109
The ones who have experience in jungle survival should go.
>>
>>400109
Lets send Poole and the rest will stay and make spears and whatever they can think of
>>
Rolled 25 (1d100)

>>
“We’ll need some food,” you say. “Who’s willing?”

“I can go,” Devin says. “I probably have the best chance of not getting lost.”

“I’ll go with,” Poole volunteers. “Do something productive while we’re gone.”

The two make off, leaving you, Skyler and Jimbe to follow the slowly sailing ship.

Skyler starts hacking away at a straight, five foot branch to make a short, crude spear, and you follow suit. As you carve, you turn to Jimbe.

“Where do they normally come onto the island,” you ask of him.

He thinks for a moment, before pointing, and then draws a straight line over the water to the beach. He then points to the ship again, and makes a rising, swirling motion with his finger before pointing deeper into the jungle.

Devin and Poole return after a couple hours, carrying several coconuts. You retell what you were told by Jimbe about the arrival of your pursuers.

>Plan of action? You have 19 hours before they enter the island.
>>
>>400068
>throwing buckets of something into the water below.
Chum?
So there's likely sharks in the water?
>>
>>400162

Oh damn. We're kind of fucked if that whirling means they use the chopper.

On the other hand, does anyone know how to fly one if they leave it unattended and the pilot is a hunter or uncooperative?

As far as I can see, this doesn't really change our plan since we don't have enough guns to be worth splitting up. And you know they'll stop hunting 'fair' once we kill one or two.
>>
>>400163

Yeah, seems like they probably had people try swim out to the yacht. Given the reefs and shit around Sentinel, I wasn't going to suggest even trying that.
>>
>>400162
So some of them arrive in the helicopter and some in the boat. That's good, they lose the numerical superiority this way.

How are our comrades armored? With our Class III plates we're pretty much impervious to arrows to the torso. If we're the only armored one, let's give the armor or the gun to someone else who will have to go into melee.

Ask Jimbe how the rest of the hunters are usually armed. If they all have bows we could manufacture some shields.
>>
>>400162
So they arrive by helicopter. We will have to ambush the boat crew and then hurry to go to the ship.
>>
>>400175
Everyone but Poole has hard armor, who has soft stuff
>>
>>400188

Interesting. I thought they'd have stripped us of armor if they were going to be hunting with bows.

So do we give Poole the gun and go into melee, or keep the gun and see if our armor fits Poole?

Personally I'm all for

>Ambush the boat, go back to yacht. Clear the yacht, set up Egor and then use him to bring down the chopper.
>>
>>400192
No. Poole cant hit anything close to her
>>
>>400195

..with the pistol, or in melee? That's a little ambiguous.
>>
>>400203
WIth a gun. We could give her a spear or something
>>
>>400210

Then we should also give her the armor. Keeping our distance with the gun, then making the hunters take cover so the melee guys can sneak in from their flanks?

Can we at least scout out and see what their usual mooring site for the boat is like? Hard to make a solid plan without knowing the terrain.
>>
>>400234
We can go to the location where they land the helicopter and boat to get a feel for the terrain.
>>
>>400236
So

>Scout locations

>Set up ambush at one that seems most favorable.

>Give armor to whoever will be fighting in melee, use gun to start ambush/pin down hunters for melee guys.

>Secure transportation back to yacht. Secure yacht.

>Set up Egor to shoot up chopper or boat when hunters return to yacht.

That's..all I really got for now. Gonna hold off posting further until more anons show up. Anyone have a backup plan if the hunters don't split up at first, but just use the helicopter as a second stage of the hunt?
>>
>>400240
Can we even capture the chopper? I mean, can anyone here fly it?
>>
>>400240
I think the people here agree. I mean it's a solid plan. But we should ask if anyone can fly a chopper.
>>
>>400243

That's what I asked here >>400172

>On the other hand, does anyone know how to fly one if they leave it unattended and the pilot is a hunter or uncooperative?

No answer from Handler yet.
>>
>>400258
None of you can fly a chopper.

So, we want to ask Jimbe where they'll usually disembark, then set up an ambush? That about right?
>>
>>400268
Yes.
>>
>>400268
Yeah.
>>
>>400269
Okay, what do you want to do in the mean time, while you wait for them?
>>
>>400268

Yes, and preferably ambush the boat. Can't count on the chopper pilot not being a hunter.
>>
>>400276

Can we start a fire? If we can lure the natives to the chopper's landing spot with a fire and ambush the boat ourselves...
>>
>>400275
Fashion spears and shields. We'll take them on in glorious melee.
>>

“If we can get the boat from them, we can get back out to the yacht, arm up, and go after the rest of the fuckers,” you tell the group.

Turning to Jimbe, you begin speaking. “Can you show us where they usually land the boat?”

He shakes his head, and holds out his hands, as if to tell you that you’re misunderstanding. He repeats the motion between the yacht and the island, bringing special attention to the beach directly in front of the yacht.

“I think,” Devin starts, “they just come straight from the yacht, the arrogant assholes. Can't believe someone would hit them before they were ready.”

Skyler grunts in agreement. “Spent too long on the homeless and prostitutes. Gone soft.”

“So, it’s a plan,” you say to the group. “We’ll wait for them to land the boat, then get them hard and fast.”

You make well ahead of the yacht, waiting for it to come to come to you. You make several more crude spears, Devin showing the group how to harden the heads with friction. You attempt to make shields from bark and plants, but end up with nothing substantial enough to stop an arrow.

The night passes, and as the dim light of morning pierces the canopy, Poole, who had been on watch, softly wakes you.

“There’s a tiger,” she says, her hands shaking and fear in her eyes.

>Plan of action?
>>
>>400305

>>
>>400305
Have everyone take a spear and be at the ready.

>>400320
DON'T surround it, or it can just attack in self-defence.
>>
>>400320
This dude's got a point, tigers are big fuckers and brave but they are predators and aren't stupid. If you aren't hurt, weak-looking or fearful, they usually will bugger off.
Arm up, don't crouch and wake the others softly. Begin to leave the area but don't run. We could just be in the tiger's territory and it's seeing what the fuck.
>>
Looks like we want to grab a spear, and either wait for it to fuck off, or fuck off ourselves?

Let's wait a bit and see if the tiger won't yield. If it won't, we retreat.

Reading up a little, it's supposedly better to keep watch on it directly (as in it's more of an ambush predator and thus can't do that if it knows you can see it) and wait for IT to fuck off.

It will fuck up all 4 mercs and Jimbe summat fierce.

>>
>>400305
>>400365
>>400358

...can we conceivably herd it towards where the hunters are going to deploy?
>>400369
They see it as a challenge from other cats. The point is to look at it without looking it in the eye, so it knows it isn't going to ambush successfully.
>>
“Wake the other two,” you say, so quietly you nearly mouth it. “Then grab the spears.”

You grab your own from the spot next to you, and stand to your full height. Scanning the jungle, you have trouble seeing anything but the green foiliage. There, you see it. Paused, just at the edge of the small clearing. You can't tell if the look it gives you is angry or hungry, but you don't like it either way.

The other three walk next to you, their own spears in hand, also staring the animal down.

It looms at the four of you, before turning around and leaving. Apparently, you aren't worth the trouble of a fight. You stay in that position for half an hour, anyway, just to be sure.

When you’re confident the cat won't return, you move to catch up to the yacht, several hours ahead of you.

As you reach it, you see a boat leave the wet dock in the rear of the ship and the rotors of the helicopter spinning as well. Seems like your twenty four hours are up.

The boat reaches the island, five men in it. Four jump out, bows in hand, and knives at their belt, but it looks like no other weapons. The fifth man is still in the boat, helping them transfer supplies, about thirty feet from shore.

>Plan of action?
>>
>>401180
So these guys want to play fair? Well that sucks for them. I say we should wait until they leave the island and then book it to the boat. I plan to shoot if the guy on the boat sees us. But I would prefer to do it quietely
>>
>>401180
Wait for when they're mostly preoccupied with moving a box from the boat, then rush them.

Have the best thrower throw the 9Bang into the hunters' midst.

I think we should give the pistol to Devin, and have him rush the boat to secure it while everyone else takes down the hunters. Poole behind the rest of us since she has no armor, and Jan in front because he's the only one with hard armor that can withstand arrows.
>>
>>401215
>I say we should wait until they leave the island and then book it to the boat
But what if the guy takes the boat back to the yacht?

If they're unloading when the boat is still 30 feet out, I don't think they plan to leave the boat here.
>>
Er, what are we going to do about that helicopter?

Im not exactly confident with the idea of boating back to the yatch if some cunt w/ a machinegun sees us whiles in that heli.
>>
>>401253
Well it doesn't seem like there is any guns or machine guns, but you could be right. I guess we will just have to rush the boat. I guess Jan will have his gun and everyone else will have the spears
>>
>>401253

For now, we have to assume they don't have any automatics. We didn't see anything, and we'd have noticed provisions for mounting a machinegun on the chopper when we rode on it.

Still in support of

>Ambush boat group. Capture alive if possible.

>Boat to yacht and secure it.

>Get Egor ready to nail the chopper.

>Laugh as it crashes into shark infested waters.
>>
>>401253
You didn't see any firearm attachment points when you took the chopper to the yacht
>>
>>401180

Also, did we ever give our armor to Poole since she's gonna be going into melee?
>>
>>401329
I guess we are just gonna rush the island
>>
>>401344
I don't think we did.
It might be better for Jan to keep it so that he can tank whatever the hunters shoot at him.

All it takes is a look, before the three of you creep up. When they see you, you begin a sprint through the knee deep water, charging the men before you.

They’re too stunned to react, and you kick things off by driving your rough spear deep into the chest of the man before you. He drops to a knee, screaming. He’s down, but not dead.

Skyler swings his tomahawk in a powerful downward stroke. His target raises his arm in a block, and the axe head digs deep into into his flesh, eliciting a scream.

Devin tries a stab at the stomach of his target, but he gets his hand pushed away at the last moment, his knife slicing through the air.

Poole’s spear gets batted down by the man it was aimed at, but it digs deeply into his thigh, rather than his stomach.

>Jan’s man: Gravely wounded chest
>Skyler’s man: Moderately wounded right forearm
>Devin’s man: A-Okay
>Poole’s man: Slightly wounded left thigh

Your man is on his knees in front of you, but everyone else is still standing, though you can probably get another attack in before they react.

You drive a knee into the face of the man in front of you, feeling the sick crunch of bone at the impact. You use the spear to dispatch him, floating, unconscious and bleeding.

You draw the g26 from it’s pouch, and turn to the man in the boat. He puts his hands up in a futile effort to block the shots, and your rounds tear through his hands, and his throat.

Devin recovers from his blunder, and delivers a crossway slash the face of his enemy, the man grasping at the wound and falling back into the water, screaming. Devin puts him out of his misery. With a pair of quick stabs to his lower back.

Skyler tries another downward slash, but his target dodges out of the way, rather than trying to block again. Seems he learned his lesson. The man tries a stab with a knife from his belt, but Thompson catches his wrist during the attack.

Poole over extends herself in a stab with her spear, and nearly falls. Your face contorts in fear as the man she was attempting to stab grabs a fistfulnof her hair, and moves to draw his knife. It flies from his grasp as he pulls it from his belt. He panics, and attempts to flee, but falls in the resistance of the water.

>Jan’s man: Dead as dicks
>Boatman: red
>Devin’s man: Dying, pumping a lot of blood into the water
>Skyler’s man: Moderately wounded right forearm
>Poole’s man: Slightly wounded left thigh, fallen in the water
>You have 19 g26 rounds left, with 9 in your magazine

The water turning pink with blood around you, you survey the scene before you. Three of the five dead, the fourth engaging Skyler and losing, with the fifth flailing pathetically in the water.

You’re about to motion to Devin to help Skyler, but he’s already on the way over. Skyler uses his grip to pull the man into him, and the massive Peshlakai slashes an equally massive knife across his shoulder.

Poole rushes up to the man that attempted to flee, and swings the spear, connecting with a crack to the side of his head.

You walk up to the man, and drop you your haunches. Waving the small gun in his face, he looks at it with despair.

“You aren't supposed to have that,” he says.

“Yeah, well you aren't supposed to hunt people, so I guess we’re even,” you reply, a little pissed, and a little amazed he had the audacity to chastise you for cheating.

You can hear the last man on his feet struggling, but between Skyler’s grip and Devin’s knife, he doesn't get far.

>Skyler’s man: Moderately wounded right forearm, slightly wounded right shoulder.

Skyler pushes his man back into Devin, and chops his tomahawk into his chest. Devin catches him, and drives his blade deep into his stomach. He falls into the water, fading fast.

You motion towards the boat with the barrel of the gun. “Now,” is the only thing you say. He complies.

>Combat over
>Loot: 4 compound bows, 40 broadhead arrows, 3 hunting knives.
>What would you like to take? Bows will be treated as a primary long gun for the purpose of inventory.

You climb aboard the boat, and Jimbe joins you, making the boat a little cramped with the six of you. You help the problem by dumping the body of the driver overboard, with little ceremony.

“What are the others armed with?” You ask of your prisoner.

“Same as us, a bow, arrows, and a hunting knife.”

“Anyone left on the yacht?” You say, motioning towards the massive boat.

He shakes his head. “Just support staff. Cooks, cleaning crew, that kind if thing,” he says, rubbing the fresh bruise and cut combo on the side of his head.

“Anything worth taking on board,” you ask, keeping the gun trained on the man.

“Cash, some jewellery. That’s about it,” he says, eyeing you suspiciously.

“Where’s the trophy room,” you ask.

He freezes, and steels himself.

“What the fuck makes you think I’ll tell you that,” he says.

>>
>>402586
How much brutality is Jan willing to do? We could just start skinning bit by bit and see where that takes us.

I assume we dispatch him once he's no longer of use, so physical marks are hardly an issue for sharkfood.

>>
“Because if you don't,” you start, “Devin over there is gonna start skinning you until you change your mind,” you say, gesturing the the huge, almost grotesquely scarred native. “Then, we’re gonna throw you to the sharks anyway,” you say, peering over to watch a body being torn apart by the fighting tiger sharks.

He swallows, deeply, and begins speaking with a stammer. “Th-there’s a door. In the engine room. Has everything in it.” You politely thank him, and begin gathering up the dropped weapons. You pass them out, and tell the others.

You start the boat again, and the prisoner speaks again.

“Wh-what are you gonna do with me,” he stammers out.

“You’ll come with us, for now,” you say, though Skyler and Poole look a little disappointed. “Try to fuck us, though…”, you leave it at that, looking ominously to the sharks devouring his friends in a blood fueled-frenzy.

You drive the boat the short way back to the yacht, carefully parking the smaller boat within the wetdock. You tie up the man you’ve taken prisoner, binding his hands and feet together, and tying him to a pillar in the wet dock.

You take point up the stairs to the deck with your pistol, Devin close behind, his bow half drawn.

“So, what’s the plan,” Skyler asks. “Guns, trophy room, or tertiaries?

“And further,” Poole interjects, “what’s the plan for those fucks on the island? If we take the yacht, they won't have the fuel to get anywhere to land. Or, I’m fine with getting back to the island to kill them. Slowly, when possible.”

After we get the guns we need to secure the trophy room, and secure all of the support staff. We don't know if we can trust them or not.

Guys, let's not go killing them for now. Because actively hunting them can not be construed as self-defence.

Let's contact the company and its lawyers first. They can give us advice.
>>
>>403961
Remember that the whole support staff on the yacht can testify against us.

Doesn't need to be, they broke the contract, and we're in international waters.

We're not police dealing with random dundu's in Chicago anon.
>>
>>403961
As people suggested, if we can contact Tiffany and provide evidence of a breach of contract and that Paxton is actually a murdering psychopath, Impact! might be able to find a loophole allowing us to hunt him down.
>>
>>403967

That really doesn't matter man. Paxton is super rich, and his kid might be on the yacht.

Think about it. We're in a world where people can hire PMCs to take us out while we're on a mission. We need to be professional about this as possible for the sake of our business, and public about this contract-breaking asshole as possible for our personal safety.

Contacting Impact and defending ourselves with Egor are much better options than hunting down hunters and potentially running into the natives.
