Welcome to Adventure Civ Medieval!

In this quest, you will help a medieval realm strive and grow as trouble arises and other nations work on their own agendas.

Last time, the tree people got divided between the traditionalist elf governement and the socialist equalitarian rebel movement.


how to play:
1) choose a realm to play for. change your name to reflect your choice (ex: Bowtie Noble). Max 4 players per realm.
2)each turn, your realm has 2 actions. You can choose a cultural, technological, or immediate acion, plus one bonus action based on your realms' bonus action(if your realm has a bonus tech action, you can do any action one time per turn, plus a tech action).
3)discuss with your compatriots which actions you will take. Once you're done, reply to my recap anchor post with the recap of your actions.

turn 13 end!

The people of the Sun went back to work on their wall, and effectively finished it.

The shamans tried to expand their magic arsenal with intense prayers but their current methods and customs (and clothes?) prevent them from going further yet.

The Leather Shamans from the copper tribe have started a new and popular school of magic, that combines pleasure and self inflicted pain to keep an edge.

The Maiden sent ships full with weapons and supplies to the treelands as soon as they heard of the rebellion. Some maiden even went with the boats to help with the tactics!

lame attempts were done to use the dried blood of old battlefields for magic with no success. However blood magic is a trendy interest right now and the Witching Child and her suite are getting more powerful. They can discover magic on their own given time.

The Sun Ambassador was asked to use his bird to scout the orclands. Though it is not his job, he didn't see a reason to decline and accepted the request.
He saw many lowly populated orc camps, and a lot of smoke far to the west before his bird got eaten by a raptor.

the Queen left the ratlands with the young grandson of the Marquis of the Septentrion and the North some day, taking all her clique of skeletons, servants and guards with her. The Marquis' troops were left behind, with a few of his own allies. This greatly struck the morale of his troops, feeling their Goddess left them for petty romance.

But the Marquis didn't back down. He knew going further into rat territory would only get harder with time as the rats improve their already formidable defenses. So he decided to attack immediately!

The Marquis got the Queen's blessing to use the inquisitors for his military actions, which greatly displeased the Inquisition, but they have no choice except comply.

The attack started terribly bad for the bowties: the prepared rats had set up cannons along their walls to disrupt the tightly packed shield formations while waves of skeletons rushed into the action and a hail of gunfire rained on the confused mass!

... But the Marquis, with a spearhead of armored guards, inquisitors, and the bravest of his troops, rushed to the walls to burn a way in. They then climbed the walls and killed the cannon crews and necromancers where they found them while the rest of the troops engaged the rats' main force, keeping them too busy to chase the bowtie commander's group on their spree!

The rats were routed. Many died in the Marquis' army, but morale was very high after such an heroic victory!

The territory didn't expand much beyond the wall, though. The Marquis requests reinforcements to do so but the Queen has been very quiet.

Considering that you're the defenders you'll always have a good advantage over anyone trying to attack, but I still think that cavalry isn't good for defending, nor for forest fighting. I'm unsure as to how this turn will turn our to be, but for our next turn, I'd suggest that we either train our people with the golden maidens as warriors or with the sabetuers, and as a second action we undermine the trees power further by either further disruptimg trade by attacking their trade routes therefore increasing our funds and destroying their moral and can be used to buy the mercenaries from them, or we can use the action to develop gorilla tactics or to groom one of our people to become a great military or sabetuer asset.

The civil war started calmly.

The loyalists focused on their legitimacy to boost the morale of their troops and cohesion of their people. Guard posts were established and guard shifts lengthened.

Meanwhile, with the help of the copper maiden's influence, the rebels stopped trade between the copper engineers and the loyalists, cutting their source of copper and weakening their potential forces.
The spies were sent to assassinate more generals. Some were succesful, but most did not have that chance now that the loyalists know what to expect. The loss of some of these women is tough on the rebels, as they are their driving force.
The rebels are also suffering minor raids from the rats, likely to test their defenses.

event: They Are Back!
The copper scouts saw the orks leave their homes running before towering black figures. They seem to go towards the copper lands! The scouts ran home stricken with fear, knowing that they just spotted the Dominators of yore.

At the beginning, before men were divided in factions and clans, there was but one nation of humans, united under the rule of the cruel Dominators, evil giants of immense power that played war against each other endlessly. They left mysteriously eons ago. Until now!

As if summoned, the Sea Queen went out of the sea in person to deliver her message to every port. "It seems your old masters are back earlier than expected, humans! How tragic. But there is still hope for you! Together, we can beat these ugly fellows back to where they came from. All I ask for is your loyalty. Pledge your arms to me, save your people!"

The mermaid did not bother going to the Bowtie shores, knowing the answer the Queen would give.

We pulled off the greatest historical battle that The Bowties have ever seen, and succeeded against the worst odd possibly all of history had ever seen, and The Queen ignores us to fuck children.

Well if she wants to be so damned quiet then we will as well.

She can stay in her home and deal with whatever child pandering she wishes, for we will be greater. We're building a new home for The inquisition.

We're moving them OUT of The Capital, and moving them into a massive fortification along The Rat Conquest where they can do their jobs and fight Necromancers Beyond The Boarder.

Enlist Rats to gather The Stone, put out greatest men on perfecting construction methods, get the soldiers to sit on this boarder and make sure no indignant fuck dares cross that Bowtie line and take an inch for The Rats. This is OURS

Do not ask The Queen about The Fortress, the whole mandate will go better if we orchestrate this as The Will of The Church and deal with our own damned problems.

I feel as if were going to need to rely on seige weaponry the engineers have since their giants that seem to be clad in full plate. Suns and trees already know about them too, not sure about the bowties. Theres also that there going to be on us most likely next turn as they've already seem to have defeated the orcs in the west and are marching on us. In general we seem to be pretty fucked if the other nations dont help out and they are actually hostile to us. Since they managed to so thoroughly kick the orcs shit in.

I believe we should ask the help of orcs for their strength, suns are more of a logistical power right now though their animal power will help a lot, the bowties have advanced weaponry, which is they still dont know, we can just rely via the sun embassy

I doubt we're gonna be able to do this easily though, we have to know why they disappeared eons ago, more information about them, I suggest we try to develop some kind of elite scouting unit? would that help with our scout rolls? is it possible for the suns to hypnotize fishes and eavesdrop on the merqueen??

I've always put magic as culture because of the things needed to do it. Like the suns self immolating. Last turn didn't work because of useless blood and that we seem to have hit a softcap on magic so now we wait for the witching child.

After the scouting reports, the copper nations united their forces to establish defenses east of their territory.
The giants are now visible at the horizon, coming ever so slowly towards them. People start to panic as even the witches have no idea how to defeat such formidable beings.
Only three of them have been seen for now.

The engineers developed a steering mechanism for their cars, so that they can be used on the field. However driving those engines off the roads is out of question, the roads being bumpy enough as is.
They also mounted ballistas on them.

The Sea Queen has been ignored by all but an unfortunate old man. Seas have been extremely dangerous lately, and many sailors died.

The inquisition is highly hindered in her everyday activities now, and few heretics are brought as sacrifice to the Queen, if any.

The Queen left her palace, once. She wanted to visit the fort and know if any weird activities had happened near the sea. She was upset and disappointed about how her Inquisitors were used, but she did not give any counter-orders.

It's been long enough that The Rats have been a pain to us, and now that we've broken their morale we've been able to stand as a force to be reckoned with.

No matter if they throw cannons at us, or guns, or as many rats as it takes to carpet those mighty hills until the very earth seems black, they shall not drive us back.

They can look upon the hills the once called their own and see Ratbane to know all well how much their cannons mean to real soldiers.

At this moment right now I can tell they're taking into desperation. Every time we hit them they shall regroup and remass their boys into formation until we're fighting women and children, then their risen again bones, then the wizards that arose them, then the guards that hold their capital all the same.

This is no longer a war for powder, but instead a war for ourselves.

We have Rats to our north that have gunpowder, and we do not.

We've decided to go to war with them and take them over so we can double our landmass and take black powder for ourselves.

We've been making military advancements like mad, and what's happened so far is the guy leading the attack won one battle, then the queen came and said he did a good job.

Then we helped build a wall with Sun Bros for a while, but while we were doing that The Rats were improving their defenses along the boarder.

We pulled off a lucky as all hell combat roll and stomped the shit out the rats. immediately after we built a massive fortress named Ratbane on the boarder, and The Queen went home to fuck shotas. She's been real quiet.

We have a holy inquisition, which is a bunch of fire magic wielding guys that have had their base moved to Ratbane so they can be front and center helping the war effort at all times.

The guy that's running the war up north is just called The Marquis so far, and he'll likely be the one officially starting it.

What I elect for The Knights is that they're a national, non-faith based society that has a social standing on par with every other knight in The Realm.

The key factor here is that they're not a Religious organization.

The Queen is the god figure of The State, so making it a religious organization will make her word outweigh the good of The Nation, which she doesn't always seem to be fighting for.

Some basic rules for The Longtie Knights need to be:
-People can join from any social class or gender so long as they're skilled enough to pass an entry test or are sponsored by another knight. Even Rats.
-Even those born into the class need to take the test.
-They serve for the betterment of The Nation, not the agenda of The Queen.

You dont really have to join our faction to help us out, any discussion with what you think about the plans will be is fine with me. Im just trying to get ready to defend against the giants while simultaneously trying to deal with the rebellion. Once the rebellion is over i honestly think that the primary objective is to help other nations prepare their defences, probably by growing ents in their territories. Going by the map it looks like if the giants succeed in their conquests, the tree lands will be the last to be targeted if they can't cross the sea, so the tree nation has time to make defences, but if the rebellion succedes we will go back several steps in magic and our ability to defend our lands will be comprimised. We need to end this civil war as soon as possible, so that we can concentrate on helping defend all of humanity.

IMO i think that, if the situation is near hopeless, the coppers should start making arrangements with the sun tribe to have a full scale evacuation plan for civillians into the sun lands.

I do agree with the presidente that we should help all nations in defeating the dominators and that either side would help at the end of our civil war.
I however have no intention on giving up on my people to the loyalists so we could either end this fight with one side taking over completely which will take many turns depending on how things go, or we can reach a compromise between us, ending our fighting in one or two turns.
What I suggest for the compromise is that the nation is devided in two and we would agree upon mating and trading terms and discontinue our raids. We effectively will act as a either a separate nation or like the clans do. We can start working together towards defending against the dominators and always start our war again later if things get bad.
If you agree that this will work for you, we will need to lay the grounds for this lay of arms between the two factions that operates will accept. We need at least a strong leader, a bit more might and a government for your loyalists to accept us as a threat and find our terms agreeable. We both need to reach out diplomatically to agree apoun these turn and loyalist will probably need to take an action or something to convince it's people it's for the better.


A divide in our nation with agreeable terms for both will end our civil war quicker and allows us to our military might being less compromised than a successful overthrow of either side.

The hostilities have begun to escalate in the treelands!

The sisterhood of spies decided to elevate the most charismatic of them as a hero, a federating figure for their cause. She leads ambushes and raids deep in the loyalist lands, making her name known and using her fame to recruit partisans in her wake.

As a response the elves concentrated on huge treants of magical talents to protect the cities from invaders. The rebels were forced to retreat wherever these formidable beings were planted. The loyalist troops started giving shields to their general infantry to protect them from the raiders' bows. The troops themselves do not need it though, wearing thick and weightless magical bark armor.

this year, the rebels made slight progress over the loyalists, but it has been stopped by their new treants.

As a definite first action I suggest we set up magic co-op training with the maidens so we can teach them tree magic and they teach us blood magic. This strengthens both of our combat abilities and increases the clans fighting power.
Our next action should either be finding a way to deal with the end by researching wilting type of tree magic (possibly going along with blood magic)or nature possession, practicing new anti sent tactics ( either ways to conceal presence like forest walk magic or burnimg arrow extra) or stealing the entire magic from the loyalists and using it for both defense and or controling their end.

It's as if the Queen just woke up to the situation. She was clearly in panic, but nothing the Marquis could say went through.

These tunnels could be booby traped if enemies discover.
