Knock-Out via Alcoholic Beverages Edition

You are Subject 108, a.k.a. Whirlpool. You are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies from a reclusive civilization that has mastered spatial distortion. You tend to suffer occasional lapses in memory, emotion and judgement from shifting hormonal imbalances due to a congenital anomaly. You have been sent to the feral planet known as Cymbio IV for a simple task: fetching water, but you are sidetracked by an adventure of your own making.

>Twitter: @guardtemp
>Discord: https://discord.gg/014ec8f38Ex8Ygzch
>Notice: You can roll 1d6 to influence your current situation akin to Roll to Dodge. Use when necessary.
>Recap: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Whirlpool%20Quest
Nicotine backed up her claim of being your sister by explaining that the two of you were from a batch of prototype artificial humans. After handling the bizarre bombshell that was Nicotine's story, she agreed to accompany you on your quest. On your way to the next destination, you passed through the Consumer District and met Saccharin, the little girl who happened to be the district head. Mu Cephei swiftly persuaded her into joining and the group moves on to the Residential District, which is essentially one ginormous hotel. The group decided to have lunch there and that was when you met Caffeine, a waitress. You attempted to flirt with her only to accidentally order a mystery dessert platter. You sample one of the items and discover the hard way that it was filled with a strong, alcoholic beverage. You pass out from severe inebriation while Caffeine, accompanied by Errai, tried to make amends by bringing you to Aspirin for medical attention.

Caffeine looks very panicked and sorry for herself. You place a hand on her shoulder and say that she doesn't have to push herself so hard for others. You add that you and your kin can pull their own weight, and Whirlpool is going to be absolutely fine.

>"Yeah...I sure hope so. It's just..I work so hard to take care of these people."

>>315834
>>315842
>"It's strong wine, some kind of popular alcoholic beverage. You see, the Mystery Dessert Platter is an adult-only dish that is not listed on the menu and its quirks change depending on the whims of the chef. I wasn't expecting your friend to be incredibly lightweight. Maybe I should issue a warning next time."

The bell dings and the elevator doors open. The two of you bring the unconscious Whirlpool inside and Caffeine sets the destination to the Medical District.

>Ask how she became a head. What's that hiring process even like?

>"I used to be a waitress in a diner, a pretty good one at that. I also moonlighted in hotels, weddings and other jobs with my close friend—Quinn. One day, business dried up and I'm unemployed. All the other establishments I worked in previously was closed down so I have no backup. I tried applying for a new job, even the small and/or desperate ones, but no one seems to be interested. I don't understand, I'm still young and I perform like a miracle worker. Why?"

Caffeine holds down a combination of buttons. You notice that the elevator has bypassed a supposed stop.

>"Anyway, I found a vacant position in a budding "mega-resort". Aside from the usual promises in working at a hotel that goes beyond 5-stars, the catch is the location is listed to be at a different planet with no chance at returning home. I discussed this with Quinn but she said she would rather stay on Earth and keep looking for job openings. We went our separate ways because that was also the first time we had a serious argument. The hiring process is usually difficult but one of the judges was a former customer of mine and vouched for me. After demonstrating my amazing work ethic I was automatically hired and sent through space. I can't remember the details but I was given a special watch and a treatment to prevent further aging. Yeah, I think that's the entirety of my story."

The bell dings and the doors open to the sight of the Medical District's lobby, one of them at least. A couple of nurses are on standby.

You present Whirlpool to the two nurses, their medical jargon confirms that they're the ones Aspirin sent in advance. You ask one of them if she's going to be alright.

>"Well first she needs to be on a stretcher, lying like that is unsafe and undignified."

A grand total of three seconds pass and Caffeine starts to show signs of fatigue while Whirlpool rests comfortably on the stretcher out of nowhere.

>"Done, just take her there while I take five."

The two nurses tell you to wait outside and avoid interrupting the treatment before moving to the nearest emergency room. The waitress sighs in relief and rests on the nearby bench. So much for following them but perhaps that's standard proceduce. Might as well wait until she is relocated to those bedrooms.

>"I honestly hope she makes it or I'll cut my hair short."

Speaking of rest, going to sleep early for the night, in the meantime why don't you check out my friend's quest? (>>316177) He sleeps waay later than me.

>>317362
You recall Caffeine using some mobile device to send a message. You ask her if all the district heads have a line of communication.

>>318937
You are now Whirlpool again. After some kind of treatment you are slightly-dazed but more in control of your faculties. You don't remember how they did it but they managed to purge your intoxication. You find yourself on a comfortable wheelchair, en route to the lobby. You see Errai and Caffeine, the former pacing around anxiously. Upon eye contact she lifts you up and hugs you tightly. She's stronger than she looks, those arms are like a vice grip. You meekly tell her you miss her too, hoping she would let go.

You drape your arms over Errai's back in a feeble attempt at hugging her. She feels lovingly warm. The two of you disengage hugging shortly afterwards.

You don't have your coat with you, it's probably back at the Residential District. That coat contains a large chunk of your suit's overall material. Without it, your current outfit can only be reconfigured to a skin-tight catsuit, summer wear with shorts and something just as skimpy.

Caffeine tells you that it's been half an hour at most.

>>319503
>>319511
Strength slowly flows back into your limbs and you feel yourself gradually getting stronger. You ask Caffeine if she's okay with bringing you to the Transport District. Meanwhile Errai says she's going to regroup back at the dining area.

A couple of minutes later you arrive at the Transport District's main hangar. You approach Rigel who is waiting adjacent to a truck. You tell Caffeine that he's one of your friends.

>"You guys sure are taking a while, I see you've persuaded one of them to come voluntarily. Nice work. Well, our initial plan didn't work but the place seems calm enough to do it the hard way without anyone noticing."

He beckons you over to the back of the truck where Propane is held captive. The waitress gives you the meanest glare she can muster.

No, this is exactly what it looks like... Rigel wasn't informed of the change of plans. When we realized that the district heads (at least the ones we met so far) are perfectly sane reasonable people, we decided to try to settle things peacefully.

>"Hey, wasn't this part of the plan?"

>"What 'plan'?"

You try to shoot him a glare of your own but you end up looking scared for your life.

You internally brace yourself for consequences and explain your actions. The original plan was to kidnap and interrogate the district heads. Ever since the diplomatic success with Aspirin you discovered that the residents here are actually decent, reasonable people with no ill-content. Instead the focus is now on the newly-learned Management District. You just failed in relaying the message to Rigel on time.

Caffeine sighs in frustrated disappointment and tells Propane to take a break. He mumbles something about hoping he won't end up in a cult.

>"I swear a lot of problems would've been avoided if we just talked like normal human beings."

You ask Rigel on Decrux's whereabouts and he says that he went off to find the rest of the group.

>>320297
You try to be angry at him but you can't. Maybe you're overshadowed by Caffeine's angered worry.

You feel very bad for yourself, but then again, adventures aren't always a nice romp through the meadows. You ask Propane if the offer for some nice steak is still open. The former initially refuses out of confusion so you get Betelgeuse to back you up. Propane tasks Decrux to help him out with some vehicle repairs while Rigel will be sent to the Consumer District to buy some supplies.

Meanwhile you gather the rest for a quick meeting. Saccharin is just being herself for a while, resting on the top of the truck. You ask the three present District heads about the ones you haven't met. Caffeine, Nicotine and Propane tells you about the head of the Fire Control, Law Enforcement and Maintenance District, respectively.

>"Halon is a pretty selfless, heroic guy but most of the time he's just one of the many residents living their lives. Fires rarely happen so he just lives peacefully in my district."

>"Ugh, Aramid's such a square. He speaks with a strong filter to his voice and is totally strict about keeping the law and such. No one has ever seen him without his suit, have you? I think he became shorter according to older people."

>"Stoddard's a sour feller. He spends his time fixin' things in the Maintenance works, outside from view, and is often pissed at all the fuckups the idiots cause."

>"I am certain everyone is familiar with the uncanny sensation of being observed for I am experiencing it right now."

You tell Nicotine and Caffeine to look around your surroundings with you in case you really are being observed. Maybe outside elements have already noticed the congregation of the district heads. Alas, there's no one nearby, not even civilian dwellers.

You hope Nicotine and Caffeine aren't listening.

For the duration of this update you are a RED EYE INVADER. You hail from another realm in search of worthy quarry. That phantom-like knight over there? He seems cowardly for stalking unarmed civilians. Sure, you may be looking for some kills but you'd never hurt innocents who have nothing to do with you. Plus, he's a MAJOR SCRUB for wearing FULL HAVELS so you decide to teach him a lesson...wait...hang on...those weapons...

Oh snap, he's one of -those- people.

You try to move in to engage but a sudden barrage of crossbow bolts tear through you like a greatsword through hollows. The hit prompts you to groan loudly, hopefully enough to cause a scene. If that wasn't enough, you obviously drop your equipment on the floor, making a clang. You're not dead but you won't be staying here much longer.

You are no longer the RED EYE INVADER.

Shoot, you can't pull off your climbing feat again with your current outfit. In hindsight, changing your attire was a bad idea after all. You could try to climb the staircase/escalator/whatever but it would take too long, and you can't use your POOR SPATIAL DISTORTION to hop through puddles since it's unlikely there will be a convenient puddle nearby. You turn to Caffeine for help, requesting her to scour that spot over there and harmlessly restrain whatever suspicious individuals are nearby.

Around fifteen seconds pass and the waitress returns.

>"There was this big lug in a suit of armor made of rock, I don't know what he's doing but I managed to tie him up with some garden hoses."

The four of you get up to the second floor, finding that the aforementioned intruder is still struggling in his binds. There are also some crossbow bolts lodged in the wall nearby,

You remove the stone helmet to see...a rather weird man with wild, curly hair and an exaggerated look on his face. You're not sure what to make of him Caffeine tries to get some info out of him.

>"Alright, what do you want and why are you following us? And why do you have these weapons? That's prohibited!"

He doesn't seem like he's answering and just tells you to go fuck yourselves like your typical uncooperative captive.

None of you really know how to dismantle the giant stone armor (without excessive force) so instead Nicotine just...unmasks his weird face to reveal the genuine one. You raise your hand to give him a frustrated slap then a female voice suddenly tells you to halt.

>"Let him go, please."

The four of you direct your attention to two individuals nearby, one of which appears to be the gunman from yesterday. You hope he doesn't recognize you.

>"We will handle him from here, that is all. The rest of you may resume your day while the foolish one will be taken away."

Point your harpoon at them. The indigo fuck had our lover at gunpoint, so give him a taste of his own medicine. It's four against two, not counting the disarmed guy, we clearly have the advantage considering that three of us have potent abilities. The idea seems risky since your current suit takes the form of a cloth-based attire but deep inside you hope that your BELOW-AVERAGE DAMAGE REDUCTION can still kick in. You recall yesterday's events and impulsively brandish your HARPOON at him. He recognizes it and brandishes his PISTOL, aimed squarely at your face. He would be at an advantage had it not been for Caffeine, who promptly disarms him in the blink of an eye.

>"Not even Aramid is allowed to use lethal firearms on other people. What makes you think you're an exception?"

You taunt the gunman, asking him how does it feel to be on the receiving end at last. He mumbles something that's largely in another language, possibly Eastern-European in origin. You can tell he's definitely swearing at least. The waitress comments that you probably have a history with him judging from your immediate behavior. You tell her that he almost tried to kill Errai yesterday.

>"Yikes, good thing I got his pistol then."

>>328599
The tall woman tries to defuse the situation, possibly to no avail.

>"Excuse my immature, brutish compatriots; I only came here to take away the stone knight and nothing more. I hold no interest in violent confrontations and instead I promise you will remain unscathed. If you try to resort to barbarism, it will only end poorly for you."

You ask her about her and her friends' identities, she says that those aren't important right now.

The armored man tries to break free the hard way but those garden hoses are surprisingly elastic.

>"Tch, what a bother."

The tall woman immediately tries to bargain with him.

>"You there, people of the Law Enforcement District, can you assist me? I've been wrongfully held captive by these misunderstanding vigilantes even though I tried reasoning with them. >"Please officer, at least grant me a pardon, I was dragged here by the Slav over there!"

He does admit that she looks innocent from how worried she looks. Caffeine intervenes to sway the situation in your favor.

>"Hey, back off. -We- were just on our way to visit someone when that guy just showed up. He had weapons on him and, as per my principles, I had to make sure he wasn't going to hurt anyone. And then -YOU- showed up with a would-be assailant in tow then this happened."

Aramid's on the fence about the situation.

Attempt to produce evidence of the events, by looking at the security cameras, secret recordings (maybe our suit has something?), etc.

Additionally, the possession of lethal weapons appears to be illegal, and knowingly associating with such would also be illegal.
