Years ago a wars swept the world and left it in ruin. Nobody who was a part of it lived to tell the tale and those who have info aren't telling any time soon. Whatever did happen left every world government in shambles and reduced the USA to a bunch of tribes and small alliances between settlements.

You are about to make your settlement in what used to be Washington State. You and the other outcasts from a California Alliance are here to make a new life in the _____ half of WA.

As if by luck you have indeed found an island in a shallow lake! Though by some worse luck it turns out to be a very small island maybe big enough for two shacks or an okayish sized house. One of your fellow men says it would be the perfect place for a capital building of sorts. You set up some tents and camp out, awaiting the caravan you went ahead of. Though these men around you are technically your comrades they know very little around you and start to ask questions.

On the trip you brought an old rifle and a nice smg for when something gets close. Eventually time passes and the caravan settles in. After a month of sleeping in tents and vans you finally have a serviceable place to live with housing and all. You yourself take residence on that island with your two officers. There's a pin up calendar above your bed from the late 70s, during which the war was in it's hay day. It's now 1986 and the war is gone.

Lets scout with the motorcycles, good to know whats around usand maybe get a map
I'd also like to get some farms in place
Teaching the troops is important too

Name could be Freehold, first thing that I thought of.
>>
>>308920
1. Get some cardio training running for the troops
2. Send people on foot to scout, do not waste fuel or attract attention with the motorcycles for now.
3. Get seeds and crops going.

Name could be Washington District Citadel?
>>
1.Cardio Training
2.Scouting
3.Farming

Training goes well for your troops and they get some much needed proper training after their trek
>25
While on the bike scouting trip one of your troops swerves to avoid hitting an animal and falls off the bike. There's dents and paint scratches on the bike but no real damage, though more importantly the rider is mostly fine from what everybody there can tell and the expedition is cut short to make sure your ally is okay.
>63
Farming equipment is available and now you have a designated area for it.

Rolled 3 (1d100)

>3 Crit Fail!

It seems that the fall taken wasn't as harmless as we thought as on the way back to the settlement blood starts to soak his shirt and jacket. A shark rock is lodged in his chest and deep!

roll 1d100 to see if locals can stabilize him!

Build some defenses, lookout tower on island, plus a wall around the settlement

Return to scouting

Maybe put your injured man to "sleep", extra mouth to feed that does nothing in return. Do this in secret of course to avoid problems, go out on a hunting trip maybe, and an "accident" happens.
>>
>>310380

Within days a stable and steady watchtower is built and with lots of materials to spare. seems you have good amount of craftsmen in your bunch.
>96 Crit Success!
It seems that only a few miles away from our village is a long strip of road leading off into a seemingly empty town that may be full of goodies. You can choose to investigate or go back to tell the captain.
>86
After a visit to the barracks and you find your wounded soldier slumped on the bed. According to him he's feeling fine it's just that standing up sends a jolt of pain through his rib cage and sternum. You tell him that as a reward he would be going out with you on a personal hunting trip. This brings a smile to his face and within the hour you're both far away from the camp keeping an eye out for animals. roll 1d20 to take the shot.

And within a fraction of a second a bullet tears through the back of his skull and a sizable chunk is gone from his head. He plummets to the ground with a loud thump as the force drives the rock through to poke from the back of him. You pull out this souvenir and put it in a pouch. The drive back to camp is longer than the drive to.

Back with the scouting team:
>Check out the town

Right as the group turns itself around a gunshot rings from the town and nails one of our men in the leg. Seems we have some company in that place.
