You walk into your room. The same broken down walls, the same broken down roof in the same broken down shack. However, today is special. It's your birthday.

There is a tradition in the Oldham village. On a boy's thirteenth birthday, he is sent into the western forest and must survive for a week on his own. Over the last decade fewer and fewer boys return from the forest. Those who do speak of the feeling of constantly being watched, their food going missing, and laughing in the night.

Lucky for you have one more year to prepare. You’ll have many options and opportunities to increase your odds of surviving.

You get up and inspect yourself in the mirror. The bruises from last week are finally gone. But you'll have a new set by the end of today, you're sure of it. You've always been the village punching bag because of your...

Your blue skin and glowing orange eyes are at fault for the constant harassment of the village. Your only satisfaction is in the back of your mind that one day they will be either beneath your boot or kiss it. In addition of learning to take a punch you've been studying magic near the edge of the forest. You can manage small ice spells right now, interestingly even during failure you don't notice the cold. Maybe you should study this more.

Working on improving your magic sounds like the best idea right now. You trek to the edge of the forest everyday for absolute solitude. Calming your breathing you begin by focusing on making snow and ice. Making ice is beginning to feel natural to you. You notice near the end of your practice one day that the ice you make through make seems to melt slower than natural ice. Again despite losing concentration during some attempts and covering yourself in frost, you never feel harmed or even really uncomfortable because of the ice magic.

You decide you should start running to and from where you need to go to build up your endurance and stamina. Even with your brief training with magic you know it may not always be there in a time of need and running to get away from a situation that has turned south may be your only solution.

Maybe making a supply cache isn't a bad idea. It's still a ways out but the sooner you start the more you caches you can make. Dried nuts and berries is the best you can do for now, can't be planting good foods just yet. Even if you did you don't have much to spare for a cache right. Maybe you should go steal some food? Or should you try earning your food? A decision best left for later.
Now you'll return to training and studying magic. Ice is nice, ice doesn't kick you while you are down or sucker punch you when you aren't expecting it. Compared to when you first started magic you might actually be able to really hurt someone now. Continue to focus on this spell, try something new, or try seeing if there is a book that might help you? Hmm decisions, decisions
>Spell: Ice Shard has been learned. You send a shard of ice out of your hand at high speed
>>276888
Home sweet home. The roof leaks, the floor creaks, it has a draft, the door is falling off its hinges, and thanks to that little shit Francis it has a giant dick painted on each of the outside walls. It's not great... it's shit really but it's all you got. You manage to scrounge up some nails and get the door straight in the frame. It doesn't squeak so that's a plus.
Learning a spell shouldn't keep you from enjoying the old fashion way of hurting someone, kicking the ever living shit out of them. Hey it sounded like those bastards from the village have fun kicking your shit in. Why not try show how much fun it is to be on the receiving end. You head into the village looking for trouble. The schoolhouse will be your best bet if you actually want to win a fight. You arrive and find that the focus of torment isn't on you today. Three older boys are throwing a doll between them with a girl with red hair running between begging for them to stop. They only laugh and tell her that they heard her mother was cheaper than a loaf of bread. A choice has to be made
>Fight the bullies, if you don't stop them eventually their focus will shift back to you. And you are here to cracked some skulls anyways

You decide that picking them off from afar then rushing in to pick off the final guy is your best option for success. You manage to get into the back corner of the schoolhouse that has an open window. You focus on make your spell less maim-y, so Ice Balls it is.

>5, Huge Fail
Your first spell isn't a complete failure but you could call it an Ice Ball. A Snow Ball is closer to what you'd call it. Well you managed to get one of the bullies pant leg wet. And grab their attention

>25, Extreme Success
This is truly an Ice Ball among Ice Balls. Perfectly spherical, it's a shame really that you have to send this at some stupid bully but you launch the spell. Your spell meets a like shape in the third bully. Worst case of blue balls in recorded history probably. He will not be going anywhere any time soon

>11, Slight Success
You throw your arms up just in time to block the hit. If you hadn't injured his leg there would have been more force behind punch. Francis isn't use to you putting up a fight and not being backed up from his goons, he hesitates. Exploiting the opportunity you kick out his injured leg, and drive your knee into his nose. Blood pools on the ground but Francis tries to stand up. He gave you no reprieve and you'll return the kindness and kick him in the stomach until he is dry heaving. You kneel down. "I am going to be walking away from our fights from now on. If you kiss my boot I might treat you nicely."

While not your goal you saved that girl from those bullies. Is this what doing a good deed feels like? Or is this satisfaction coming from the blood on your boot? Whatever doesn't matter. You approach her but she doesn't shrink away like everyone else would. She is holding her doll close to her so it's hard to tell what it is. She has fiery red hair and bright green eyes and is about chest height to you. "I didn't save you because you needed my help. They beat me up so I beat them up. It's simple. I'm not a hero or a savior so don't thank me" She just smiles "It doesn't matter you did save me and I'm happy that you did" She looks outside and starts running out the door "Sorry I need to go. And thank you" and she's gone.
Hmm guess it's time to head home. You give Francis a final kick in the back. Today has been an oddly good day.

During your last fight you briefly thought about icing over the floor but in the heat of the moment you didn't think it was a smart idea to experiment with magic. Now in a controlled environment you try out your idea. A sheet of ice covers the ground in a 1 by 1 meter area. You can make the area of effect larger with practice or maybe experiment trying to get the effect when someone gets close. You feel the sensation of being watched but you can't find your voyeur. Maybe you need to practice deeper in the forest

>Endurance Training
Deciding to explore deeper into the forest for more seclusion you come across a rock face with a flat landing on top. Climbing up and down this before and after any other training definitely will improve your endurance and there are enough outcrops that you should be able to catch your breathe if needed. There are 8 landings to rest on and you are determined to only use every other one. With a few close calls you make it to the top of the landing and survey your surroundings. Total seclusion, Perfect.

A hatchet is the tool you need. Smaller lighter and easier to hide it's perfect. You know for certain the trader on the opposite end of the village has one for sale. But you don't have a lot of money and you are sure if you did it would be "no good" coming from you. But you do have something known as the five finger discount. That hatchet is yours he just doesn't know it yet. You watch from a far as he conducts his business. After a transaction he has his back turned just for a moment. You could take it then he might not even know it was you. Or you could throw stealth to the wind and just rush in and run like hell. If the guards find out you get an iron boot ass kicking for sure.

Ceasing your chance you grab the hatchet by the handle and go to swiftly leave. The sound of metal hitting metal rings out. You freeze. Experience tells you this is gonna hurt and running only makes it worse, that still doesn't prepare you for the kick to your back sending you to the ground.
"Your money no good to me, you think flithy fingers are?" A boot heel grinds into your hand "Should take your hand but no one would buy freak hand" Gods how does he get any trading done when he sounds this stupid. "Get away from my shop before I kicka yo ass good. Make me lose money gonna have to sell it for cheap, freak touched no good bad luck" He gives you a swift kick to your side pulls you up by your collar and shoves you off. Well that turned out fantastically. You get yourself into a small alleyway and use some magic to heal the new injuries you received. A few months ago you'd have been hurting a lot worse. Guess some of your training is working
You close your eyes a minute trying to think where another hatchet would be. Thunk. You look next to you and there is the hatchet you tried stealing lodged into an empty barrel. A woman stands over you, her bright green eyes look at you with sympathy, rather than disgust. You look down the alley and see a familiar face peeking around the corner...

Technically speaking it's possible to combine weapon training, strength training, and endurance training here.
By strapping on weight to yourself, you gain strength. By using the weapon on a practice dummy or other target, you become more skillful. By doing this for a very long period of time, hours and hours, with only very minor and minimal breaks inbetween, you gain endurance.

>>281950
>Weapon Training
>Strength Training

>>281967
Good point but I feel weapon training your skill wouldn't improve if you weighed yourself down
Strwngth and endurance will combine from now on any post selecting both may select another

>Study Magic (Free Action)
>Weapon Training
>>
>>281973
Actually, training under increased weight and with unweildy weapons is common for increasing your general skill with weapons. If you can learn to do well in bad conditions, you will be incredibly good under good conditions.
>>
>>281987
Well a hatchet isn't exactly unwieldy I'd be more inclined to agree if it were over sized in comparison to us I'll see how the next couple posts go and I'll adjust if needed
>>
>>282002
Well, the increased weight is still a thing at least
Harder to swing with your arms weighed down, but your swings will be much better without the added weight later on

But ye, i get you, can't be too broken about this stuff

>>
>>282273
Monthyl training periods would work, though I do wonder if there is some more random events that occur with the weekly type thing/
>>
>Weapon Training
The hatchet fits well in your hand. You make a snow dummy to practice on and just get an overall feel of your new weapon. Trying the back of the axe head to bash and crush seems effective as well but you'll need more practice. For a while you play with idea of throwing your hatchet but you aren't sure you want to learn a skill where there isn't a guarantee of getting your weapon back. You try anyways and find it extremely satisfying when if sticks in your dummy's head.
>Strength Training
The strength regiment you made is simple. Rock climbing. You spend the next few weeks climbing up and down only using more and more difficult paths. When that becomes to easy you load up a rucksack with rocks and climb. Your hands become rough and gritty with your grip improving greatly

Looking at this, I believe we should raise our magic and weapon skill as much as possible.

Someone incredibly skilled with both magic and weapons is formidable as shit, regardless of strength and endurance. They're likely to finish fights as soon as they start anyways, with how skilled they are.

Strength and endurance can't hurt, after that, though.

Trying to hone battle-precog would be good too, stay three steps ahead in the middle of a fight.
>>
>>282902
i cant wait to start tower building and minion gathering though
>>
>>282902
Agreed, if we go for this build battle precognition is a must, but precognition, in general, would be useful to have regardless.

>Study Magic/Weapon Training
You'll be trying to combine your two primary forms of offense for this month's training. The first idea that comes to mind is enchantment. You know enchanting is easy enough a retarded dwarf could do it. You just need magic and patience. After accidentally freezing the weapon to the ground and to your hand you might be getting the hang of this. Close inspection reveals though the cutting edge is rounded off with a thick layer of ice, it takes about a week before you can regularly keep a sharp edge and get the chilled effect. You can't get the enchantment to last permanately, maybe additional steps or items are required.
Satisfied with the results so far you try something more advanced, making a copy of your weapon out of ice. Even with the weapon right in view it's difficult to even keep the shape of this Ice hatchet close. Not only that the distribution of weight is all wrong. You discover that lengthen an enchantment while pulling away the hatchet makes the shape and gives you a respectable cutting edge it still won't be weighted correctly. You toss the Ice hatchet away in anger, it's seems you don't have the knowledge or ability to redistribute the weight. Thunk. Shatter. You look where you threw the Ice replica and you see part of the axe head still stuck in the tree while the rest is at the base in thousands of pieces. You might not need it to survive a fight just a throw. It's literally a throw away weapon you can use it your enemy can't. Modifying the shape makes up for the weight and practice leads you to consistently stick the target.

>Spell: Elemental Weapon 1, Ice has been learned. Adds ice damage to weapon temporarily.
>Spell: Ice replication, Inferior has been learned. Copies an item using ice, Inferior quality.

Random Event: New Idea
While dealing with one of the few merchants who accepts trade with you, you notice a man walking down the street with odd looking shin and arm guards. "What are those?" "Bloody idiot thinks if he weighs his arms and legs down and just walks around he'll get stronger. Bunch of crap if you ask me"
Weighted clothing, let's you train strength and endurance while doing daily actives but will slow movement and causes quicker fatigue until acclimation

16, Huge Success
After a minute or so your vision becomes clear. You are on your knees, Francis is front of you. His face is bloodied but he is smiling. "Kiss my boot and I might be kind to you" You spit in his eye a reaction he had not anticipated but he responds with a hard kick to your jaw. "I'm giving up fun times at the festival for this you piece of shit now listen here..." The world fades away and you are back in the shack. Francis is still an idiot in the future. He gave you a good guess on when his crew will jump you. 6 weeks is the summer festival. Enough time to plan something. This time you better make sure he stays down.
>Weapon Training
Francis is on your mind while you train. Your attacks grow more ferocious, more cruel, more sadistic. It feels intoxicating, you beat dummies long since destroyed. You black out. You wake up, near what you'd guess is midnight, drenched in sweat. Around you is the remnants of your frenzied rage. It will take days to replace all these targets. But you don't care if this had been against Francis and his goons he'd be dead ten times over. Over the coming weeks you refine your frenzy so don't wear yourself out to exhaustion. While frenzied you don't have access to your magic, even enchantments dispel when you enter a rage.
>Ability: Frenzy unlocked, you attack all around you with reckless abandon. Access to magic is denied in this state.
>Strength/Endurance Training (Free Action)
You make crude leg and arm weights out of scrap metal and canvas bags. The metal while loose serves its purpose. More time is needed until you acclimate to the extra weight.

Random Event: Lost Property
Early in the morning you over hear some one complaining about losing a treasured book from their collection and they will pay anyone who finds it. You think if it was so important why they took the risk to lose it. Later that day while on the outskirts of the village you come across a book sitting on a lone stump. With no one around you it only makes sense that it is the lost book. Taking the book home you discover that it's filled with knowledge on spells and alchemy but it's a difficult read and would require a lot of time and effort to understand its contents

Fact: Muscles grow by being damaged and repairing themselves to be stronger and overall better.

>20, Huge Success
Despite the odd text and sentence structures you have one thing going for you... Drawn out step by step instructions. When you realize there are step by step drawings every 5 or 6 pages the contents become clear. While many spells and processes require ingredients or mana then you have access to, some show you more efficient process to collect and store mana but most importantly you learn how to use other elemental magic. and many other tips and tricks. Over the course of the month your mana supply has increased by nearly 50 percent, you start experimenting with poison infused spells and ice traps have an increased range to an area of 2m. Life Is G̶o̶o̶d̶ Evil

>Stalking
Francis has a really simple schedule, Wake up, be stupid, beat up a random kid, go to sleep. In all honesty Francis isn't interesting except he's got his parents convinced he is the sweet His Parents however that's where the fun is. Francis' Father, Jeremy, works at the lumber mill as a log keep. Jeremy has a nasty habit of leaving the log book open and unsupervised at night. He also is constantly forgetting the combination to the mill's safe and has to write it down. Jacqueline, Francis' mother, works as a secretary for the mayor's office and is good friends with the mayor's wife. They are so close she even has a key to their house. These two people are so nice it's nauseating.
>>
>>284664
We definitely need to ruin his parents to get at him. I'm guessing his attack on us is just random and we'll just have to plan to be reactive. Maybe set some ice traps where we were at in the vision.
>>
>>284683
Wont he hard to frame him, since we know the safe combination we could empty it out then leave something that would look like francis did it.
>>

>>284692
>>284683
This is the sort of thing one should do nearer the festival, that way he would be more likely to be under house arrest when it rolls around.
>>
>>284664
Let's destroy his families life.
>Steal the contents of the mills safe
>leave some in a place that implicates his family and keep the rest
>make an ice copy of the key and return the original
>steal some stuff from the mayors house

maybe we wait till the village starts to turn on the family, then kill the mayor using the key to further implicate them
>>
>>284723
we might even be able to pin the whole thing on him, if we put the stuff from the mayors house and the safe in his room somewhere, or put the key to the mayors house in his room after we copy it, we can get him to take the fall for everything.

just gotta decide if we wana destroy his reputation or that of his entire family

>Destroy Francis' (The Abrams) Family
>Phase 1: Evidence
Over the course of these next two weeks you keep yourself busy. At night you sneak into the lumber mill, make some small additions, or subtractions really, to the ledgers. "Borrow" some money, plant some in the Abrams' home. You steal some of Mrs. Abrams panties and make a close enough copy of the key to open the mayor's house, plant the dirty laundry. You repeat the process every few days.
>Phase 2: ???
You ask Lysandra to spread a rumor that the Abrams have coming into some money and Mrs Abrams is over at the mayor's house more often then she needs to be. She Is more than happy to help, her price... you take her to the festival. Um... why? She smiles and starts walking away "Guess you don't need my help" Was she always this manipulative? Fine you'll take her to the festival. And like that whispers begin running through the village. This may be easier than you thought.
>Phase 3: Profit
Today is rainy and overcast, perfect. If everything has gone to plan it should be today. You stroll into the village and it went even better than expected. The short of it is a double murder, suicide and a lynching. Mrs Wicker found some panties that didn't belong to her and just snapped. No questions just murdered her husband, and sent someone to invite Mrs. Abrams over in the night. She slit her "friend's" throat as she walked in the door before during the knife on herself. Meanwhile, Mr Abrams was confronted by workers realizing their pay was being siphoned off and demanded to see the books. The ledger's "damning" evidence brought them to the Abram home where Mr. Abram was forced to open up some floor boards. It wasn't more than 5 minutes later and Mr. Abrams was hanging above his own doorstep. Of course not all the money was found but you already knew that.

Laying down ice traps and chilling your shack, nothing happens. Francis we both know you are in there it will be easier if you just come out. Still nothing. "Your dad squealed like a pig as they were hangin-" Francis bursts through your door and immediately sets off the first ice trap. He is slowed but still pushes forward, impressive really. "And your mother having the affair with the mayor how... expected from a woman like her." Francis is no human just an embodiment of hate, it's truly a sight to behold. He gets a few steps closer before setting off another trap. His body cover in frost and he is shaking but he continues moving forward. You bring your arm up directly casting the Ice trap on him, almost his entire body is frozen solid save for face. "Francis you know the best part about this? They didn't do it" Francis is too cold to even scream now. You crash your hatchet through him as he shatters into thousands of pieces.

>Strength/Endurance Training
With some of the gold you pocketed, you buy some actual body weights that are heavier than what you crudely strapped together. You had just acclimated to your last set so this was a good time to buy some. At night you make sure to use cooling wind so even on a bad night's rest you will still be able to deal with the increased strain on yourself.

>Read
You take another stab at the book focusing poison magic. You make great advancements with your trap spells and elemental enchantments. You notice in some of the parts you can understand well enough that instead of casting a spell that last for a certain amount of time it's better to do a "continuous" cast which lowers your pool of available mana but relieves you of the stress of wondering when you need to reapply your spells. You'll think on it weighing your options. You've gather the majority of information that doesn't require special ingredients or magic mastery, soon you'll have no need for the book.
>Spell: Poison Trap 2 has been learned. Cause poison damage for a certain length of time, may cause sickness . 2 meter area

>Weapon Training
You've practically mastered your hatchet and ice copies of it. Not much else you can learn without a partner. You manage to learn new recovery ground tactics and retrieving a knocked away weapon quickly for the unlikely situation your opponent does get the better of you. Afterwards you practice your frenzy more, this allows you to retain some focus but only enough to know when to disengage. You feel watched most of your training but you can not spot anyone.

>Read/Return Book
Scraping the last bits of knowledge from the book you add the fire and earth elements to your repitoire. No new spells, that you can actually cast, were missed from earlier studies. The final thing of note in the book is something called "dual" casting, casting a separate spell in each hand. Something interesting you might try but the book warns not all people are capable of such casting and failure of one spell usually leads to failure of the other. Finished with the book and the knowledge you can gain from it you go to return the book to its original owner. After some time you track them down, and knock on their door. When they answer they are startled by you "W-what do you want?" You explain while you going through the Abrams family home looking for things you might need, you found the book and remembered hearing that there was a reward for the return of the book "I did say that... Hmm did you look in the book?"

You are no fool. Details now. He smirks "You're a smart one" he invites you inside and for the next 4 HOURS going into every single facet of the proposed agreement. Only fascinating thing about the whole ordeal is he is using magic to write out the contract as he speaks.
>Contract Details
1. The spells cast by either master or apprentice may not injure, maim, or kill the other.
2. Physical violence from master or apprentice can not be used to injure, maim, or kill the other
3. Commands from the master are expected to be followed to the best of the apprentice's ability
4. Commands may be petitioned with a legitimate claim. Successfully petitioned commands may be restructured to better reflect the abilities of the apprentice
5. In the case of death of either party in this contract, the contract is considered null and zoid. Cases of true resurrection the contract will not be reinstated unless both parties agree

>>
>>287337
Needs an expiration date. When we feel we can no longer learn anything from him, perhaps? Or he can give us a rough estimate of how long training will take yearwise, and set expiration with yearly renewal for the expected finishing date.
>>
>>287337
How can it end? We have our woods time coming up and will probably want to head out after that.
>>
>>287401
Actually, new idea.
Contract is reviewed for possible renewal on a yearly basis. Otherwise, it expires. Except for the "no harming each other"clauses, which remain until death.

We can just send minions to gank him eventually anyways, doesnt count as us hurting him
>>
>>287415
Lets just do this, pretty soon we'll get our minions and if he trys anything we can just bury him under a horde of browns.
>>
You agree to the contract under the circumstances that it expires before your journey into the woods and upon your return you'll review and determine if you want to continue, and he actually teaches you new spells and improves your magic. He laughs "I'll never see that book again if I don't agree do I? Alright it's a deal. We'll start tomorrow" He takes the book and returns it to the shelf with its set of no less than 4 dozen other books. You smirk, now you'll get a taste of true power.

Contract entered, expires 2 weeks before your journey into the forest.

Random Event: A Humble Request

You return from your negotiations to find your shack has been burned to the ground. A simple request on a post in front of your new charcoal pile: Leave or Die

>You no longer have a permanent structure to sleep in

Random Event: Birds Of A Feather

Now faced with the problem of you new homelessness you decide the best option is find a tree and get comfy. Right on the edge of the forest you find a comfortable spot to lay down for the night. You drift off to sleep rather quickly, a few hours later you wake up to a whine coming from not so deep in the forest. Investigating you find yourself in front of a lone wolf, stuck in a trap and a broken arrow sticking out of its back. It notices you and gives a low growl but you know it cant hurt you while in the trap. Getting a better look you can see more broken arrows in its blood drenched fur. It will surely die by morning, you can end its suffering and kill it now or let it go and let it spend its last hours how it wishes. Maybe there is a third option?

Of course there is a third option, Magic. You approach slowly, hand open to him. The wolf keeps a stance that will allow it to bite you if need but it lets you approach as its growls subside. Grabbing the first arrow shaft you shiftly pull it out with one hand and cast your healing spell with the other, this doesn't stop it from yelping and trying to snap at you. Another arrow shaft removed and healing spell means you are halfway done, the wolf reacts less negative towards you and just yelps. Third and four arrows go even smoother, the wolf is starting to calm down a bit. Finally the leg trap, you open it and heal the wolf's leg. It doesn't wait long before running off deeper into the forest. Well then... At least you got some healing magic practice in

Your pride is a tough pill to swallow but you manage it. After leaving master's for today you kind walk around thinking of a good way to say you need to stay over but not make it sound like you need help. You almost have something when you feel someone trying to pull you along. "Who the fu-" It's lysandra, of course it's her. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" You follow her because she's not going to stop pulling you along. A couple of blocks later you clear your throat "Mind telling me where we are heading?" "No" Ten minutes later you are in front of her house with her trying to shove you in through the door, feeling obligated at this point you step inside. She closes the door and kicks you in the shin, it might have hurt if... actually she probably could never hurt you. "What was that for?" She just storms off and slams the door to her room closed. What the fuck is up with her?

You venture fairly deep into the woods before finding a good hollowed out stump that you throw dried meats and crackers for food, rope and something your master calls a thunder egg. You hear scurrying in some bushes close by but dont see any animals close by. Whatever you need to get out of here.

>Magic/Weapon
You ask your master if he has any weapons from if adventuring past. He looks far off in the distance, he's having a flashback again. Just digging through some of his stored away things, you find a sword with an odd shape like if it was a sword pretending to be an axe. In the attic you find a mace with a button in the grip that when pressed makes the mace head fall off but remain connected to it with more chain than should fit inside the handle. You return to your Nam'd out master and not too much longer he comes back to reality and shows you a mage staff plain and simple.... lame.

Benefits of the kopesh: for a skilled man, it is extremely good at disarming people of weapons and shields, and tripping or otherwise forcing foes into undesirable movement. It has limited use in climbing if durable enough and you are light enough. It can hack, slice, and stab, in addition to blunt strikes. Hard to learn? Perhaps. But a skilled user with one can outdo an axe or sword user easily. It's beastly at disarms.

We need to ask our master if he can train us in the kopesh as well as magic

>Khopesh
The axe sword looks great and it will help save some time on training since is similar to an axe. Master informs you that this work of art if called a Khopesh and was made in country far to the west that was almost nothing but sand. His knowledge of this weapon is actually terrifyingly deep now that he goes into it. Hack, slash, thrust, with assistance from master now, shock, awe and burn. Master is fanatical about elemental damage

>Spell: Elemental Weapon 2, Fire has been learned. Adds large amount fire damage to a weapon
>Spell: Elemental Weapon 2, Lightning has been learned. Adds large amount Electric damage to a weapon
>Spell: Elemental Weapon 2, Air has been learned. Increases Swing speed of weapon applied to

Random Event: Pale Moon Light

You can't sleep tonight. You decide to take a walk to clear your mind. Creeping out as not to wake anyone up, the air outside has a crisp bite to it. Eventually to find yourself in the middle of a field that feels oddly familiar, hmm. You lay down for a while, and just look at the stars. They say everyone's destinies are written in the stars, so where is yours? "What is my destiny?" ........"Death" You spring up and look behind you, readying yourself for a fight. A tall solitary man is standing with you in the field. "Who the fuck are you? The night shift scarecrow? because you are one gangly fucker" He advances towards you, cracking his knuckles. "I'm Jack Abrams, and you killed my brother" Fuck

You spring yourself backwards casting not less than a 2 dozen ice traps between you and jack and bring out your trustee hatchet. Now is a good time to finally try out poison, hatchet is nearly pouring poison off of it and making the immediate grass and plant life start to shrivel. He backs up "that's right just because i'm smaller than you doesn't mean i can't kill you like Francis!" He stops and begins running at you, he's just like his brother he's going to try to rush through them. Right before he is about to hit a trap he jumps and clears all but one which quickly causes his right leg up to the knee freeze. That was close he almost cleared the traps. Jack looks down "cute learn this at sunday school?" What? He stamps his boot down and the ice shatters off his leg. Fuck this guy...

You stand your ground, you'll kill jack just like his brother. You can't lay traps directly, you are going to have to make just you cast it on him. Deep breathe, you rush in hoping he was expecting you to drop back more. He was, and your hatchet buries into his leg while you get a poison trap right on chest. Jack drops to a knee and roars with anger. You drop your hatchet and unleash more traps directly on him. Ice, Poison, Poison, Poison, Ice, Ice, Ice, Poison,Poison. Jack is frozen solid and if he isnt he's rotting inside out. Your panting, woo fuck. Hatchet in hand you swing it straight down on his head, and like his brother before him, shatters. You are looking at the stars again, and watch one drop out of the sky.

>New weapon training
You can't help but think if you knew how to wield your khopesh you'd be able to end fights faster. Your hatchet has been your tool till now but it just doesn't have the reach you need. You work on hacking with it, it's the style you feel the most comfortable with and slowly transition into the sword style of fighting. Master gives you pointers on your stance and how far to follow through with your swings. He gives you a combat manual on sword techniques. You thumb through it and start to feel more comfortable with your khopesh

>Study Magic
Dammit you will learn dual casting if it kills you. Your master just shrugs and doesn't try stopping you. Mental fatigue quickly settles in and it's only day three. One day master walks in and literally throws a book at you. "I can see the fumes coming out of your ears boy how bout you read a damn book" Dual Casting For Block Heads. While not exactly a master's work on the subject it reveals the easier way to learn out to dual cast is prep one spell hold it till it's stable then begin to prep your next spell.

>Precog training
More Problems more books. "Old man I don't need my own damn personal library" "Boy if you just read your damn reading material i could nap for longer" "Fuck your naps" Despite your master hands off approach this month the books really do help and the breathing technique should allow you to get into a precognitive trance easier and have it be more stable. Your master also talks about a "warrior's intuition". You ask if it has a book about it and of course it does.

Tell her that if she wants to spend time with us, then she has to train with us. In battle. She can use the mace we didn't pick while we use the khopesh, but she cant keep the mace, just for sessions. Gotta put it back when done.

Ideally you'd want a partner closer to your skill level but you have to make do with what is given. Lysandra is hesitant at first and is concerned about if the whole thing is real and if someone is gonna get hurt and this and that and the other thing. Again you explain that your master is watching over and she doesn't need to pull her punches so to speak. You two will be using wooden swords, if you could really call them that... you two spar for a few hours each day alternating between swordplay and basic spells. She actually picks up fire magic rather quickly and is her choice of spell. This is supposed to help you but it's seems like you are making Lysandra more capable at defending herself. During your sparring session you slowly become more and more capable of feeling a tingle in the back of your head warning you Lysander was about to get in a dirty shot.

>Study Magic
Whatja reading?" Sigh nothing now. Lysandra makes a face like half pout and half expecting that reaction. I'm helping out now and you are just as much no fun then before. Well you are trying to learn something new. "Mom says the best way to learn something is teach it to someone else" Maybe there is a small amount of logic to it fine. You begin to go over the basics of magic with Lysandra and she is right teaching her made you find some cases when you are spending extra mana.

Wow it's almost your birthday again... some much has happened, you are responsible for the deaths of 6 people, stole a sizable amount of money of which 150 gold still remains, you gain a tutor for magic and have a plethora of spells you can use, have a improved quality of living albeit, and are physically fit and durable enough you can fight adults. Things are going mostly in your favor. Lysandra drags you out of the house one, guess you are spending time with her today. Spending your time walking through the village isn't exactly what youd consider fun but with her it's tolerable. You are surprised to see walk up to a sweet stand and deftly swipe up something for you two and later, did she always know how to steal or did she learn more recently? You two become extremely effective when you walk up first and the store clerk starts swearing and trying to kick you out and she swoops in and takes something while they are distracted. Maybe she isn't a good person and you are happy that she isn't. Darkness comes quickly and the cold really starts to set in and you two head home. Small crunch of snow is the only sound as you walk, but something in the back of your mind is tingling. The feeling gets stronger as you get closer home, a few blocks from home though you know where the danger is at. Snapping around you are just in time to see your attacker as it takes you to the ground, it's a dog... no its a wolf. It's growling in your face, it opens its mouth and licks up and down your face. Bleck, get off me you mongrel. Your wolf friend has finally found you. After you calm down Lysandra you take the wolf with you and sending it off back to the forest. Lysandra takes you to town and nightly you spend some time with your new companion. The night before you head into the forest, Lysandra's mother makes you a small cake. Later that you are a little restless and can't get comfortable enough to sleep

You take a stroll outside, enjoying the stillness of the air and its chill. Once again you find yourself in the field where you, hopefully, ended your feud with the Abrams family. The first time this year you contemplate when you are excited to go into the forest, most hope you won't come back. If you come back you'll probably be hated more for not dying and making some lose on their backroom bets. What are you trying to prove and to whom? There isn't an answer that comes to mind. Hmm. You lay back and nearly jump out of your skin when you see Lysandra is standing over you. How has she gotten so good at sneaking? She smiles and just says before walking off, "Come back alive I've got something to tell you when you get back"

Today is the day your true journey begins.

Is Average khopesh skill right? I thought some hatchet skill transferred to it

Skill levels start at no training, you guys got an average to start, just saying
>>
>prepare and head out
Loading up a rucksack and slinging it over your shoulder you head off to the edge of the forest. Normally today the boy heading into the woods would be sent off by the village with a few gifts usually a day's rations some rope and a knife, but today there are only two people, and your gift is a scarf. You'd point out you don't really get cold but you just take the gift.

You decide to head northwest into the base of the moutains for two reasons. 1 the higher ground will give you more view distance and generally less dense woods. 2 the night you killed jack a star fell this direction and you want to claim a piece of the heavens. It will be dark in about an hour.

Heading up the mountain at night while not the smartest idea, you'll be the one to claim the fallen star. The night is still young you figure stopping after a few more hours, finally stopping arounding midnight. You eat some of the rations making sure to save half for later. You find a tree to sleep in for the night.

Can we try to forage for food while searching?

We might want to save the cache for when we're desperate for supplies
>>
>Continue search
The first hour of your search is getting to a clear area to look for any signs. You note a river to the north that cuts through the forest valley. The second thing of note, is a giant scar in the terrain, pointing you exactly where you need to go. That happens to be half way up a mountain but it could be worse. The travel will at least take another 2 and a half days of travel, you need to double back and pick up your caches to make the journey but you might have enough to get back. Or you could try foraging for food and making forward progress at the same time.

>Forage
You aren't about to waste time going back to get your caches, forward progress is the only acceptable choice. The river is a reliable source of food so your best bet is heading there, plus on the way you might running into edible plants or come across something you can kill. Not long after you start your trek to the river you come across a small family of hares and not wasting the opportunity you freeze them to death. How dare animal look so fluffy, it's a crime to your eyes and against existence itself. You have now a day and half worth of food and seeing you have enough food to make it to the fallen star but not enough to make it back you continue to the river. Arriving at the river you get to work freezing fish and bashing their heads, disposing of both rabbit and fish innards into the river. Afternoon fish filet and you are satisfied. The sun will set soon are you going to camp out or make a general heading towards your piece of the heavens

The star did fall a few weeks ago, it's probably not in too much danger of being immediately taken. Besides, I'm hoping the wolf friend has time to catch up to us at night.

We shouldn't push ourselves to the limit just yet. We should save our strength.
Also I'm curious, what's limiting us to a week? If we take longer so what or is there something I missed?

You make camp for the night to offset the lack of sleep you got the night before. Wondering where your wolf companion is you set out a rabbit for him, if it isn't him... well you probably won't have to worry about a food problem. You find a nice tree branch close by the food/trap and let yourself drift off to sleep. Your dreams are filled with fire and the smell of sulfur, sounds like paradise. In the morning you find that the wolf has indeed found you and is sleeping at the base of your tree. You food supplies will last two days. You are approximately a day away from the fallen star.

>Fallen Star
Venturing forth you make your way to the fallen star. Briefly you toy with idea of riding your wolf friend but you are too big or he is too small, same difference. You don't concern yourself with getting food on your way, the star is the only thing that matters. Everyone will fear you when you have a piece of the heavens in your hands. It is getting dark but you can see the glow and you start running for it. You stand on the ledge of the crater it is in, its brilliantly blue and you can feel the energy radiating from it. You now have a fallen star.
